2024.05.20 07:08 Configuringsausage DM hates players, is a huge ass with rules

Very recent
Ran a campaign with 2 gms and goddamn this was the worst gm I’ve seen in so long, and one gm was absolute dogshit
So first warning sign: the gm power trips like all hell, they refer to themselves as the god of the game and when they’re told a rule that works in the scenario or explained how certain things work, they get mad and make their own rule out of nowhere (ftr, this gm was horrible with the rules to the point where they didn’t even know what a saving throw was despite this not being their first campaign, it happened a lot).
Second warning sign: the gm is super controlling, there are so many examples to name so I’ll just go through notable ones.
Had character’s entire fates planned out, including unavoidable death
Commonly “took over as god” and had the party go places they wanted them to go by force despite lack of planning
Forced people to rp exactly how they wanted (revealing character details to party, using character’s voice, never speaking ooc, etc)
Chose to NOT ALLOW PLAYERS TO PICK THEIR RACE OR CLASS UPON DEATH. Yes, this isn’t even a joke, if a character died, the dm would make them a new one, when this was revealed and players requested races they went as far as to tell them they’d to the exact opposite.
Nerfed abilities and spells on the spot if it did something they didn’t want it to. For example: telepathic speech being noticed by anyone with a semblance of magic talent, detect magic not finding school of magic, create water just not being allowed to be used, dissonant whispers doing less damage than a single spear stab (rolled max damage on 2 guards while twinning it, neither died) and more
Took pretty much all suggestions as insults, rudely blew others off when trying to suggest a rule or recommendation, etc
And even more than this
Third warning sign: demanding players have certain irl items and such, no digital dice allowed, no online sheets allowed, you had to have motherfucking candles for ambience, you had to have a webcam, etc
Last warning sign: a deep hatred for spell casters, wizards could only pick spells from their school, spells within melee range proc opportunity attacks, pretty much every area could entirely negate magic (prison had anti magic, entirety of most major city was anti magic, this one disease sped up when magic was used, and these were all back to back plot points) but when their magic npcs used it they could do pretty much anything with ease despite being like, a random herbalist in a random town in the desert.
None of these things were established prior to the campaign and the majority of the players were brand new to dnd, this was their introduction to the game. Like my first dm wasn’t a shining example but he at least had good grips on the rules, this dm is just horrible, I feel so bad for the other players
TLDR: extreme railroading, extremely stubborn, very bad understanding of the rules, super controlling, and rude dm

Finally after over 6 months of procrastinating ideas and dreaming about making my own game I want to start and I think I can do it it would be my first game and I can work on it full time I’m a complete beginner however and looking to be pointed in the right direction when it comes to basics like making the background map and the character design the game is going to be a 2D pixel art style game as I think it fits the vibe the best and it’s the most realistic for me to accomplish if anyone could reccomend any YouTube channels/videos or any of their own tips that would be great thank you :)

Top 10 Best Bathroom Sinks in 2023
Navigating the myriad options for bathroom sinks and finding the best bathroom vanities with ample storage space can be an intricate endeavor. We are committed to simplifying this process for you. Join us as we explore the top 10 bathroom sinks of 2023, shedding light on their distinguishing features, exceptional advantages, and market-leading attributes. Together, let’s identify the sink that flawlessly marries elegance and utility for your living environment.

What is the Best Bathroom Sink?

The ideal bathroom sink is a complex interplay of personal taste, spatial limitations, and design objectives. However, there are universally recognized qualities that contribute to a superior bathroom sink.

Ease of Maintenance

Effective household management necessitates reducing the time allocated for bathroom sink maintenance. Premium sinks are designed for low maintenance, featuring stain-resistant properties and ease of cleaning. Materials like solid surfaces are advantageous due to their smooth surfaces that effectively repel common bathroom stains.

Diversity in Sizes and Styles

A one-size-fits-all approach is impractical when it comes to bathroom sinks. Your choice will be influenced by spatial considerations and aesthetic preferences. Below are some standard sink dimensions:

Sink Type Size (in inches)
Drop-in Sinks 20-24
Undermount Sinks 19-22
Above-counter Sinks 15-20
Cabinet Sinks 24-48
Freestanding Sinks 18-30
Wall-hung Sinks 20-24

Drop-in Sinks

Commonly known as top-mounted sinks, drop-in sinks are favored for their straightforward installation process. These sinks are inserted into a pre-cut hole in the countertop, with the rim sitting above it. This configuration offers a contemporary look and serves as a practical solution for settings that prioritize both aesthetics and utility.

Undermount Sinks

Undermount sinks are affixed beneath the countertop, delivering a streamlined and modern appearance. Preferred for minimalist settings, the lack of a rim simplifies cleaning and eliminates the possibility of debris accumulation.

Above-counter Sinks

Also referred to as vessel sinks, above-counter sinks are positioned entirely atop the countertop, serving as a striking design element. Available in a variety of materials like solid surface, ceramic, or copper, these sinks offer businesses an opportunity to make a visual impact.

Cabinet Sinks

Combining storage and sink into a unified structure, cabinet sinks are perfect for those requiring additional storage for toiletries and other essentials. These sinks often come with soft-close drawers and are crafted from diverse materials such as hardwood, engineered wood, teak, and plywood, delivering both functionality and style.

Freestanding Sinks

Freestanding sinks, including freestanding vanities, stand independently, not requiring a countertop or vanity for support. These sinks are particularly well-suited for spacious environments aiming for a refined aesthetic. Made from high-quality materials like solid surface or porcelain, are both durable and low-maintenance. Their design flexibility allows them to serve as eye-catching focal points when complemented with stylish faucets.

Wall-hung Sinks

Wall-hung sinks, sometimes referred to as wall-mounted sinks, are designed to maximize floor space in compact bathrooms or powder rooms. They are directly mounted to the wall, often featuring built-in faucet holes and a small ledge for storing toiletries. Crafted from robust materials like solid surface or stainless steel, wall-mount sinks ensure lasting performance.

Multifunction Design

The quintessential bathroom sink should surpass mere washing capabilities. It should epitomize a fusion of convenience and advanced utility, taking into consideration the available space in the bathroom. Features such as integrated storage solutions and adaptable faucet hole configurations are essential to cater to a broad spectrum of plumbing prerequisites. The strategic inclusion of overflow drains is indispensable to counteract potential water spillage. During the selection phase, it’s paramount to juxtapose these functional nuances with sophisticated aesthetics. Facets like soft-close drawers and innovative shelving solutions augment the sink’s multifaceted utility. It’s also vital to appraise the spatial dynamics of the bathroom to ensure an impeccable integration.

Superior Materials

The material pedigree of a bathroom sink is instrumental in ascertaining its enduring appeal and resilience. Options span from the perennial sophistication of porcelain to the stalwart resilience of stainless steel and copper. It becomes imperative to select a sink that is impervious to stains, adept at handling thermal variances from hot water, and exhibits unwavering durability over extended periods. Whether one’s inclination is towards a cutting-edge solid surface sink or a vintage wooden basin, the chosen piece should resonate with both utilitarian needs and refined aesthetic inclinations. Such a choice guarantees a harmonious amalgamation with the overarching bathroom decor while ensuring a lot of storage for quintessential items at an affordable price point.

Solid Surface Bathroom Sinks

Dive into the realm of solid surface bathroom sinks, a pinnacle of modern bathroom design. These sinks are meticulously crafted from a unique blend of high-grade resins and aluminum hydroxide powder. This combination results in a pristine, pore-free surface that marries aesthetic charm with functional utility. Notably, the use of premium isophthalic resin ensures the sink remains resistant to yellowing over its lifespan.

For daily upkeep, opt for a mild, pH-balanced cleanser and steer clear of abrasive agents that might mar the surface.

Key Features of Porcelain Bathroom Sinks

  • Smooth and Glossy Surface: Porcelain sinks have a lustrous finish that adds a touch of luxury to any bathroom.
  • Resistance to Fading: These sinks retain their color and shine for years, ensuring they look as good as new even after prolonged use.

Fiberglass Bathroom Sinks

Fiberglass sinks might not be the first choice that pops into your mind, but they’ve been making waves in the industry. Known for their impact resistance and lightweight nature, they’re a practical choice for businesses that prioritize functionality without compromising on aesthetics.

Key Features of Fiberglass Bathroom Sinks

  • Impact Resistance: Life happens. And sometimes, that means accidentally dropping a heavy object into your sink. With fiberglass, you’ve got a buffer. These sinks are designed to absorb shocks, reducing the risk of cracks or breaks.
  • Lightweight: One of the standout features of fiberglass sinks is their weight—or lack thereof. This makes installation a breeze, especially in spaces where a heavy stone or ceramic sink might be impractical.
  • Temperature Sensitivity: Now, while fiberglass is a champ in many areas, it’s a bit sensitive to extreme temperatures. It’s something to keep in mind if you’re in an environment where hot tools like hair straighteners might come in contact with the sink.

Maintenance of Fiberglass Bathroom Sinks

Taking care of a fiberglass sink is pretty straightforward. Regular cleaning with a non-abrasive cleaner will keep it looking spick and span. It’s also a good idea to avoid exposing the sink to high temperatures for prolonged periods.

Stainless Steel Bathroom Sinks

Stainless steel isn’t just for your kitchen. Over the years, stainless steel bathroom sinks have gained popularity, especially in commercial settings. They’re durable, resistant to corrosion, and offer a sleek, modern look that many businesses crave.

Key Features of Stainless Steel Bathroom Sinks

  • Lightweight: Much like their fiberglass counterparts, stainless steel sinks are relatively light, making them easy to install.
  • Resistance to Corrosion: One of the major benefits of stainless steel is its resistance to rust and corrosion. This makes it an ideal choice for high-moisture environments like bathrooms.
  • Affordable: If you’re looking for a sink that offers durability without breaking the bank, stainless steel might be your best bet.

Maintenance of Stainless Steel Bathroom Sinks

Maintaining a stainless steel sink is simple. Regular cleaning with a mild detergent will do the trick. To prevent water spots, it’s a good idea to wipe the sink dry after use. And if you want to keep it shiny, an occasional polish with a stainless steel cleaner will have it gleaming like new.

Composite Bathroom Sinks

Composite sinks are the unsung heroes in the world of bathroom fixtures. Made from a blend of materials, often including granite or quartz combined with resins, these sinks offer durability and a unique aesthetic appeal.

Key Features of Composite Bathroom Sinks

  • Good Durability: Composite sinks can withstand the rigors of daily use. They’re resistant to scratches, dings, and can handle high temperatures.
  • Compatibility with Surrounding Materials: One of the standout features of composite sinks is their ability to blend seamlessly with various countertop materials, be it granite, quartz, or even hardwood.
  • Various Styles: Whether you’re going for a modern look or a more traditional vibe, there’s a composite sink out there that’ll fit the bill.

Maintenance of Composite Bathroom Sinks

Composite sinks are relatively low maintenance. It usually only needs regular cleaning with a non-abrasive cleaner to keep it looking its best. For tougher stains, a gentle scrub with a soft brush can work wonders.

Cast Iron Bathroom Sinks

Cast iron sinks are like the grand old dames of the bathroom world. They’ve been around for ages, and there’s a good reason for that. With their excellent stain resistance and easy-to-clean nature, they’ve earned their place in many a bathroom, be it in a chic boutique hotel or a bustling business center.

Key Features of Cast Iron Bathroom Sinks

  • Excellent Stain Resistance: Ever spilled red wine or dropped lipstick on the sink? With cast iron, there’s no need to panic. These sinks are resistant to most stains, ensuring they will stay in pristine condition even after accidental spills.
  • Sound Dampening: One of the lesser known benefits of cast iron sinks is their ability to insulate sound. So no more loud echoes when you drop something in the sink.
  • Easy to Clean: The enamel coating on cast iron sinks makes cleaning a breeze. A simple wipe with a damp cloth, and voila! It’s as good as new.

Maintenance of Cast Iron Bathroom Sinks

Maintaining a cast iron sink is straightforward. Regular cleaning with a mild detergent will keep it shining. It’s also a good idea to avoid using abrasive cleaners as they can damage the enamel coating.

Copper Bathroom Sinks

Copper bathroom sinks are a unique and intriguing choice for businesses looking to blend aesthetic charm with functional benefits. Known for their natural antibacterial properties, these sinks offer a distinct advantage in terms of hygiene. Crafted usually from a single sheet of copper and often hand-hammered, each sink is a unique piece of functional art. Over time, copper develops a patina, a natural layer that not only protects the material but also enhances its aesthetic appeal. This evolving characteristic makes copper sinks a living, changing element in your bathroom design.

Key Features of Copper Bathroom Sinks

  • Antibacterial Properties: Copper sinks are pretty amazing for a few reasons. First, they have natural germ-fighting powers. Studies show that copper can kill almost all bacteria it touches, which is a big deal for places like hospitals where cleanliness is super important. This special antibacterial property sets copper sinks apart from others.
  • Unique Aesthetic: But that’s not all! Copper sinks have a unique look that’s both old-fashioned and modern. The warm colors of copper and solid brass add a fancy and sophisticated feel to any bathroom. Each sink is handmade, so no two are exactly the same. They might have different textures and shades, which makes them special. Over time, copper develops a beautiful aged look, sort of like an antique.
  • Good Durability: And guess what? Copper sinks are tough too. They’re made to handle the wear and tear of everyday use. Copper doesn’t easily corrode, so your sink will stay looking good and working well for a long time. Unlike other sinks that can crack or chip easily, copper sinks are built to last.

Maintenance of Copper Bathroom Sinks

To keep your copper sink looking its best, you need to take good care of it. Avoid using harsh or rough cleaners because they can remove the natural patina that forms on the copper surface. Stick to gentle cleaners to preserve its beauty and functionality.

Concrete Bathroom Sinks

Concrete bathroom sinks have gained prominence as a fashionable selection for contemporary bathroom designs. Known for their robustness, versatility, and industrial aesthetic, these sinks are highly favored by businesses aiming to elevate their interior décor.

Key Features of Concrete Bathroom Sinks

  • Design Flexibility: One of the most significant benefits of concrete sinks is their adaptability in design. Unlike mass-produced sinks, concrete variants can be tailored to meet specific design requirements, offering a wide range of shapes and sizes for individualized style.
  • Exceptional Durability: Beyond their aesthetic appeal, concrete sinks are engineered for longevity. The intrinsic strength of concrete renders these sinks highly resilient to common forms of damage such as cracking, chipping, and general wear and tear.
  • Heat and Stain Resistance: The natural heat-resistant properties of concrete make it an excellent material for accommodating hot items like hairstyling tools. Additionally, when properly sealed, these sinks demonstrate strong resistance to stains from everyday bathroom products, thus facilitating easier cleaning and maintenance.

Maintenance of Concrete Bathroom Sinks

While concrete sinks offer numerous advantages, they do necessitate more frequent maintenance compared to other materials like porcelain or stainless steel. Regular sealing is essential to guard against water damage and staining. For daily cleaning, the use of a mild, non-acidic cleaner is advised.

2024.05.20 07:07 S_e_v_y_ What makes you return to the Portal games?

Is it nostalgia? Is the experience? The gameplay/worth? Something else entirely? Did it open your eyes to a new style of gameplay? Alot of Valve games are timeless and are still spoken about for years after their release. So what makes the game(s) special for you?
⚪ For me personally it opened up a new way of gameplay for me. At first I thought I was just playing rooms full of simple puzzles to get my reaction....but as I delved deeper into the games themselves I found them to be a whole lot more....the emphasis on emotion and experience alone I will never forget. The characters are so well written, portayed and characterised they deserve to be on the list of greatest characters of all time. They form a bond and level of mental satisfaction unlike any other that makes you want to return time and time again....

2024.05.20 07:05 TraditionalTour9468 Garou Vs Metal Bat

So I’ve been rewatching and talking with a few of the fans and reading Reddit threads and I never knew that the majority of fans agreed that Metal bat beats Human Garou in they’re encounter? My question is why is this the case at all?
I rewatched the fight in both the anime and manga (manga is more detailed and has some extra scenes and dialogue) and it’s clear to me that Garou was pummeling metal bat with ease? I mean metal bat didn’t land a single hit while Garou landed every hit he threw at him without missing ONCE meanwhile Metal Bat couldn’t touch him ONCE…
…but apparently Metal Bat wins in peoples eyes because he could’ve possible killed him at the end with a sucker-punch type of swing? Like doesn’t that just prove that head on or in a face to face encounter Metal bat stands no chance against Garou? Like I get it we can agree Metal bat has more striking power sure, but Garou is just a bad match up for him because of his Martial arts skill level. Garou even calls him a meathead and laughs during the entire fight even calls it a game in the anime.
Not to mention Garou is seemingly much much faster than Metal bat since he not only can dodge his swings even after they’re swung but he also PARRYS them even after Metal bat enters fighting spirit. Also in a moment where Garou launches a Manhole cover at Metal bat, Metal bat can’t track Garou because of his speed Metal bat even says “He’s Gone” and Garou whose already at Metal bats feet by the time he relives replies with “I’m right here Dimwit” and proceeds to pummel him more.
Now I know here come the fans that say oh but Metal bat was already hurt, uhhh do we not know these character? Metal bats entire thing is that he gets stronger the more he takes damage and the fight continues he literally gets stronger and faster so damage isn’t an issue as long as he doesn’t have any limbs or organs ripped out from the evidence we’ve seen.
Another argument I saw in the Reddit threads is “ but Metal bat was able to keep up with monster Garou when they went against Sage centipede!!” ; but was he really?
The author clearly makes multiple statements to show Metal bat should not be keeping up with Garou or Sage centipede by stating that they’re are in a “vast raw power difference” and that the only reason Metal bat can keep up is because of Garous resonance and amplification effect he had on Metal bat, basically Garou gave him a massive massive power boost.
People still might say oh but Metal bat was fighting Sage centipede before Garou showed up and holding his own.. but no Sage centipede says and I quote “The one with a stick is not an issue” also Metal bat had hit him with one of his strongest a attacks and Sage just ran through him, and lastly about this fight may I remind everyone that Garou killed Sage centipede all on his own, Metal bat only served as a meat shield since Garou by himself punched through Sage and took his healing core and threw it into the atmosphere then ricochet off of it and came down and Karate chopped all of Sage centipede in half. (This is the same Garou who was lowball calculated to be going 40x FTL when he fought and defeated PS AND FF.
Needless to say Metal bat really was only ever going to land 1 hit on Human Garou because Garou is a softie and doesn’t willingly kill Hero’s/Humans (of course Always threatens them but as we saw in his hero hunting Career never willingly did it) he just knocked Metal bat out and decided to let him live and have another day in the sun.
Basically if your opinion is to say Plot armor saved Garou because of Zenko interrupting the fight which supposedly saved Garou from Metal bats final swing; then other hand it can also be said that Plot armor basically saved Metal bat a bunch of times basically during the entirety of the fight (Garou not using killing intent/showing mercy), another is while he was temporarily unconscious (which was at the end because of Garou knocking him out briefly again showing mercy), and also after Zenko showed up Garou could’ve taken advantage of the situation and killed Metal bat since he promised he wouldn’t expose Zenko to Violence meaning he couldn’t fight back. (Again showing mercy).
Even with fighting spirit and strength and speed upgrade during the fight Garou could still dodge and parry easily as he states in the manga at the end.
(Also if your main reason why you say Metal bat Won is because Murata himself said Garou would’ve died, may I remind you that in all his glory and perfect illustrations Murata is simply the illustrator not the Author; sure ONE and Muratas version is not the exact same as the webcomic but the manga is still ONES OWN story he is the only author and what HE says goes. So this statement is not authentically confirmed by the author. Something else to bear in mind is ONE has made Garou say various times that he would in fact die to a certain attack and this happened many times during the story some examples are: when he fights Overgrown Rover, Garou gets hit with one of Rovers blasts and says “No way in Hell I survive this.. I’m Dead!” another time is when he fought Bang and Bomb at the same time as a human hero hunter he says “I’m blacking out, I’m really going to die” and another time is when he fought Darkshine and Darkshine fully flexed and charged a tackle at him and Garou couldn’t deflect it and he stated right before the attack hit him “If that hits, I’m a goner!!” He never did die in any of these even though the Author wrote for him to say he would die. So really if these attacks couldn’t kill him whose to say if the last and only swing from Metal bat did finally land would it fully kill him? And my last point on this one hit than never landed is just that, it didn’t happen this isn’t a hypothetical this is what was in their fight what actually happened and who became victorious.
If this were a boxing match and they were judged by points and it came down to a judges unanimous decision (since both were left standing): Metal bats hypothetical knock out would not count for any points cause it didn’t happen, they would only count the hits that landed during the fight and who was shown as dominating the fight and that clearly was Garou.
Anyway that’s how I interpreted the fight. Garous skill is too high for Metal bat to compete it’s due to bad match up.

2024.05.20 07:05 Kzen_sno [mobile phone][2000s-2010s] game about perfume making

Platform(s): Phone, I had an android when I downloaded this if that helped
Genre: Casual. It was about perfume making.
Estimated year of release: I played this around the early 10's so maybe around then or late 00's.
Graphics/art style: During the story bit it was an anime art style but when moving around it was pixelated.
Notable characters: Take this with a hint of salt because this is what I got from chatgpt when I interogated it about this game. There's Grace (?) who is blond and got in a car accident when she was little and lost her sense of smell, right after she was done talking to her Grandpa. When she grew up, she met this fairy called Esperanza (?) who helped her make perfume potions without needing the sense of smell.
Notable gameplay mechanics: I only played in the early part of the game. I distinctly remember when she met the fairy there was this thing you had to do where there was three symbols in different colors over a darkened background and circles shrinking around it and you had to click it at the right time. Another thing was there was a part where grace went to sell the perfumes and she had this little wagon full of them in flasks and they were in different colors like blue or green potions. In that part, there were customers coming up to her and you had to give them the correct potions. It had a top down view. Right after that part you could go to the market place where there's this market square with npcs and bulletin boards where you could look at notes. This was also a top down view and also a pixelated part.
Other details: I think I downloaded this game maybe two years ago through a website on my phone. The gameplay looked really old and had the blond girl as the thumbnail for the app. I found that game through a lot of effort but I switched phones and I can't find it anymore. I think it might have been called perfume story but I have no idea. If you guys have a link where I can download it again that'll be great as well.

[House / Tech House] djscsi - moving on up (45 minute mix)

I’ve been spinning for about a year, this is the third mix I’ve recorded and I’m hoping to get some house / tech-house DJs’ opinions on my track selection and mixing. I really like the first few transitions but I feel like I lost some of the energy when I brought in the Maceo Plex track at about 13:30. I messed up a couple parts but I’ve listened to the mix a few times and I think it sounds pretty good. Does anyone think I used too much FX? Thanks for any feedback!

2024.05.20 06:58 Justchillin562_ Mas?

I saw Kingdom of The Planet Of the Apes today. I honestly really liked the movie. I still get so amazed with the graphics, cgi and how these movies are made. I liked the storyline of this movie, I really enjoyed the characters, and it was so visually appealing. After the movie though…I wanted more. Am I the only one who was left wanting more? I know there are more movies to be made but I wanted more detail and explanation.
Top things I wanted more of:
• The funeral at the beginning was pretty touching. But bruh this is Caesar we are talking about. Give me something more than that! We’ve been with Caesar since 2011, we watched him grow, lead, make mistakes, and create a family, save his kind, fight, etc… and that’s the best we can get?
• I knew going into the movie that it wasn’t going to pick up right after the last movie besides seeing the funeral. But I really wanted to see life after Caesar with the apes we knew(Maurice, Rocket, Bad Ape, Caesars baby son). I wanted to see how they established order, who lead them after that, how they built their new homes in the new land, how/ who Caesar’s philosophies got carried by. I wanted to see problems that may have occurred.
• We got to know Noa and his clan. His clan all seemed so interesting to me. We met his father who was also very interesting. I felt like we did not get much from that though. They spoke of the elders and the father a handful of times but I wanted to know more about them. Who taught them? What made them get into the eagles? Who are they descendants of ? Seemed to be missing a lot of details of a pretty big aspect of the movie.
• Raka was so cool! I’m like dang are all the orangutans chill like this? First Maurice and then this dude. I liked how he carried Caesar’s beliefs with him and was trying to teach others. I just wanted to know and see how that info got passed down to him. I also wanted to see his little hide out more and things he had like his books and stuff. I also wanted to know who his friend was who got killed. Then just as we got to know him more, he “dies”. I mean we didn’t see a body so maybe we might see him again?
• Last but not least. How could not be interested in Proximus? He was a character I thought we needed more than one movie to dissect. I wanted to know how he got to king status, what drove him to believe what he believed, his past, more of his style of leadership, etc. I felt like we didn’t get to know him well before he was taken out. Like Raka, we didn’t see the aftermath of the fall, so he could be in another film later on. I just felt like he should have had more screen time and I wish we had some more background on him.
Overall I felt like it was a good movie. I just hate feeling like there should have been more. I honestly could have sat down for another hour if it meant some of these things went into greater detail. I would have left the movie more satisfied instead of wanting more. Hopefully it is later explained but I don’t know.

2024.05.20 06:57 FearlessTowels Recovering BPD

I’m new to this group, but I’m not sure if you all feel similarly. For me BPD takes form in many things but mostly separates into two versions of me: the Rational version and irrational version.
Rational me: wonderful person who is accountable, kind and caring.
Irrational me: impulsive to a fault, and doesn’t realize he’s speaking in mostly black and white thinking, mixed with suicidal, abusive and manipulative actions.
It feels like alone, I’m not as much as a burden but when I’m dating someone seriously for example my current partner of two years. I’ve managed to cause so much trauma to her.
I hate myself almost everyday. Why? I’ve essentially been exactly like how my father was to my mother despite having promised the younger me I’d never. While, I know it’s not my fault I didn’t learn the right coping mechanisms if at all any. I can’t help but feel like it’s me doing it so it’s my fault. I can be great for days and weeks but then an incident brings me back to square one. I always feel like I’m having to push the rock right back up the hill again for it to never reach the top.
Has anyone here had similar behaviours and how did you deal with consistent need for validation out of fear of abandonment. For example, I ask my partner if she’s loves me a ton less now because she’s almost on the verge of leaving and she can’t really tell me it because it’s drastically decreased.
It feels lonesome, I don’t know anyone with BPD and I wish I at least knew one who successfully treated their symptoms to give me hope.
Years of therapy and this year finally found a DBT therapist. Seen him a handful of times but still seems like I’m not fully getting better. I am trying to use my skills more frequently though. I’m trying to live a life worth living before I end up not living.

Because there has been a lot of negativity lately…
For everything you didn’t like about the new season, name one thing you DID enjoy.
Example: Not a fan of some of the new styles, but I’m amazed at how they did Penelope’s glow-up just by changing her make-up and fabric colours!

2024.05.20 06:55 Ill-Department9709 My mom makes me hate being me

She’s just so negative I can’t stand it. The little girl minding her business who just got her hair done feeling so confident and here she goes, “her hair is ugly as fuck let me get out the car for a closer look”. The girl yesterday who went to take prom pictures at the park who looked stunning in a bright orange dress and she goes, “that orange is so ugly I hate her dress”. My boyfriends mom who doesn’t have a benz like she does and here she goes, “she’s taking y’all to prom in that thing??” Like she’s any better?? I just wished someone put her in her fucking place. She’s fat and overweight , we went to the store to grab 1 item she comes out with 3 bags of chips and 2 big candy bags and she has the audacity to call people fat like she didn’t get surgery to loose weight and STILL hasn’t lost any?? She constantly tries to be me too. I get nails for prom once and her she goes getting hers done when she never does. I get a hair style?? Here she comes copying it, but will find a way to put me down for it. Constantly buying new Amazon packages but hasn’t bought me any new clothes in years but has the audacity to make fun of the shoes I wear like I have a choice. Yesterday was my prom and we took pictures and of course she had to make it about herself. They came in today and she was itching to find a negative thing to say about them then had the audacity to ask to see the rest. For what? So you can dissect what YOU dislike about them? I can’t stand her and I can’t wait until I get the fuck out of here, she’s just so miserable but walks around like her shit doesn’t stink. She’s a single parent who favors her sons over her only daughter who gets nothing but straight A’s and scholarships while her sons are fucking slobs and she tries to compare herself to me?? When she hasn’t accomplished as much as I have at only 17?? She only puts my accomplishments down by saying they aren’t good enough. She makes me feel bad about doing anything. I can’t even dress up anymore because I dread hearing her negative ass comments, I can’t take this anymore and this isn’t the life I want for myself. I can’t wait to go to college and finally give myself the break I deserve.

2024.05.20 06:53 JudeGeorge_ Don’t ignore circumstances. Use them wisely.

People are often drawn to manifestation to make a specific change in their lives. The common ones include reconnecting with a specific person, finding a new job or making stacks of cash, but there are plenty of others. All of this is achievable as has been proven numerous times. There is, however, a problem that arises when we focus too much on one particular outcome and fail to notice all the other changes around us.
When we want something specific we naturally focus intensely on that one thing. We raise its importance and fail to notice the other things, or even other people, in the world around us. For example, when I was knee-deep in research papers studying for my psychology degree, my apartment was an absolute mess (as were my relationships!). This is a common occurrence in everyday life and it can happen with our manifestation practices too. When it does, it can cause a lot more frustration than a simple messy bedroom.
Being hyper-focused on our specific desires means we’re less likely to observe the positive changes happening in other areas of our lives on our way to manifesting our desired goal. Here’s an example to help explain what I’m getting at. Recently, I caught up with a friend who’d manifested contact with her ex-partner after being separated for long time. It took her around three months from our first discussions before he made contact with her, apologised for the break up, took responsibility for being an absolute man-child (seriously, why she wanted him back is beyond me, but the Law doesn’t judge even if I do) and asked her to meet for a coffee. You’re probably wondering why it took so long. It’s because she was so focused on her specific desire that she didn’t notice how the world around her was changing to accommodate it.
In those three months, the following happened:
She didn’t make the connection between these events and the love she was generating within herself (for herself). Those internal changes were reflecting in her outer world, but because she was fixated on her one goal and wasn't seeing it, she reacted with frustration. You may recognise some of the following reactions as you may have chosen them yourself in the past:
Don’t get me started on ‘future’ husband…
We discussed how to choose better reactions and…eventually…the 3D caught up.
The lesson here is about how we react to our circumstances and how that helps or hinders our manifestations. Hyper-focusing on a specific outcome blinds us to seeing the way every cell in existence bends to create the things we want and this can lead us to inadvertently rejecting or delaying that which wants to come to us. So, how should she have reacted to those situations?
The difference here is clear. This person is in a state that knows her ex returning is normal because she lives in a world that is curated for her (by her own mind) to provide the context for that situation to occur. If you’re new to all this, read that sentence again until it makes sense. I’ll break it down further in a future article and link to it here as well.
The world changes to create a context that allows our manifestations to appear in the most natural way possible. Your dream lover isn’t going to fall from the sky (very unnatural, although I know there will be one person in the comments who is in love with a professional sky diver….), but they are going to arrive when you accept you live in a world where that’s likely to occur and you’re the kind of person it’s likely to happen to.
When you go about your day, look at everything in the way you want to see it. If you’ve been waiting a long time to see your desire in the 3D world, it’s possible you’ve been failing to notice how the world is creating the perfect context for it to appear. I say failing to notice, because the change is always there. It is the law, after all, and it’s our decision to allow ourselves to witness it.
By training your mind to notice and listen to the world around you, you’re more likely to experience events like those my friend described for what they are — reflections of your emergent state of mind. In doing so, you’ll be able to choose to react to them with gratitude and satisfaction, confident in the knowing that your seed has begun to sprout and your wish has already been fulfilled. These circumstances, and all circumstances, should be used for our benefit and with the understanding that your ‘outer’ experience is always working for you.
Now go and create something beautiful.

2024.05.20 06:52 Captain_Chipz Tanglewood (Vault 904)

Faction Song Inspiration: Patti Page - Tennessee Waltz (1956)
Tanglewood is a faction that emerged from the remains of Vault 904, an experimental Vault-Tec shelter. Unlike other vaults, Vault 904 housed country music artists and regular Texans and Oklahomans who won tickets through radio show drawings. The vault’s designer, a Vault-Tec official who despised country music, ensured that the vault would only open when its inhabitants could perform a concert impressive enough to please the overseer. This overseer was a computer that processed information via the brain of a classically trained French orchestral composer. Adding to the challenge, the overseer could not be consulted for musical knowledge, and the vault library lacked any information on music theory or instrument usage, despite containing a vast collection of French orchestral instruments.
From the bombs falling in 2077 until the year 2226, the inhabitants of Vault 904 struggled to develop their musical talents, until January 1st 2226, they performed a concert that satisfied the overseer and the vault opened. Emerging into the wasteland, they brought with them an original musical culture born out of necessity and creativity. This culture, blending Americana roots with a new Baroque complexity, became the foundation of Tanglewood. The faction, now living under the protection of the Texas Rangers, established their settlement at the ruins of the Tanglewood Resort and Marina. The society that formed from this experiment is reminiscent of the baroque musical culture of the 1500s, with a distinctly Americana twist. Their music is wholly original, having been developed without outside influence, as the only way to hear music in the vault was to perform it on one of the provided instruments.
Leadership within Tanglewood is determined by talent and community contribution. The faction is led by a group known as the Maestros, with Grand Maestro Eleanor "Ella" Westfield at the helm. Ella, an accomplished violinist and visionary leader, guided the vault dwellers through their musical evolution. The Maestros, comprising the most talented musicians and influential community members, ensure Tanglewood’s continued growth and cultural richness.
Tanglewood’s structure mirrors that of an orchestra, with roles based on musical skill and creativity. Conductors lead different musical ensembles, coordinating performances and training new musicians. Composers create new music, blending Americana and Baroque influences, while Artisans maintain and repair instruments, as well as create new ones from scavenged materials. Principles are the leading artists on their respective instruments in the community and are sought for consultation and teaching. The daily life of Tanglewood is steeped with regular concerts and festivals celebrating their heritage and drawing visitors from across the Lone Star Wasteland. The society reflects the Baroque era in terms of clothing, architecture, and art, with an emphasis on ornate designs and elaborate details.
They maintain a practical relationship with the Texas Rangers, who provide protection in exchange for taxes and the rights to use the Tanglewood Resort and Marina as a naval base on Lake Texoma. They have little interest in or competition with the Brotherhood of Steel, as they do not possess any significant technology or resources that would attract the Brotherhood's attention. Members of Tanglewood are susceptible to conversion by the Coven of Christian due to their artistic and somewhat mystical inclinations.
Grand Maestro Eleanor "Ella" Westfield’s leadership and strategic mind have been pivotal in transforming their settlement into a thriving cultural hub. Conductor Samuel "Sammy" Harris, a charismatic and skilled leader, directs the main orchestra and inspires unity among the musicians. Composer Martha "Marty" Jenkins creates new works that blend Americana and Baroque styles, and her compositions are celebrated both within Tanglewood and by outsiders, her 4th symphony is the performance that granted the Vault Dwellers of 904 freedom.
They wear practical yet ornate clothing, seemingly inspired by Baroque fashion, often made from scavenged materials. Instruments are a common accessory, and they carry tools for crafting and maintaining their musical creations. Despite their peaceful and artistic nature, they are vulnerable to attacks and rely heavily on the Texas Rangers for protection.

2024.05.20 06:52 Volunder_22 How I code 10x faster with Claude

https://reddit.com/link/1cw7h43/video/zcomf098ii1d1/player
Since ChatGPT came out about a year ago the way I code, but also my productivity and code output has changed drastically. I write a lot more prompts than lines of code themselves and the amount of progress I’m able to make by the end of the end of the day is magnitudes higher. I truly believe that anyone not using these tools to code is a lot less efficient and will fall behind.
A little bit o context: I’m a full stack developer. Code mostly in React and flaks in the backend.
My AI tools stack:
Claude Opus (Claude Chat interface/ sometimes use it through the api when I hit the daily limit)
In my experience and for the type of coding I do, Claude Opus has always performed better than ChatGPT for me. The difference is significant (not drastic, but definitely significant if you’re coding a lot).
GitHub Copilot
For 98% of my code generation and debugging I’m using Claude, but I still find it worth it to have Copilot for the autocompletions when making small changes inside a file for example where a writing a Claude prompt just for that would be overkilled.
I don’t use any of the hyped up vsCode extensions or special ai code editors that generate code inside the code editor’s files. The reason is simple. The majority of times I prompt an LLM for a code snippet, I won’t get the exact output I want on the first try. It of takes more than one prompt to get what I’m looking for. For the follow up piece of code that I need to get, having the context of the previous conversation is key. So a complete chat interface with message history is so much more useful than being able to generate code inside of the file. I’ve tried many of these ai coding extensions for vsCode and the Cursor code editor and none of them have been very useful. I always go back to the separate chat interface ChatGPT/Claude have.
Prompt engineering
Vague instructions will product vague output from the llm. The simplest and most efficient way to get the piece of code you’re looking for is to provide a similar example (for example, a react component that’s already in the style/format you want).
There will be prompts that you’ll use repeatedly. For example, the one I use the most:
Respond with code only in CODE SNIPPET format, no explanations
Most of the times when generating code on the fly you don’t need all those lengthy explanations the llm provides before/after the code snippets. Without extra text explanation the response is generated faster and you save time.
Other ones I use:
Just provide the parts that need to be modified
Provide entire updated component
I’ve the prompts/mini instructions I use saved the most in a custom chrome extension so I can insert them with keyboard shortcuts ( / + a letter). I also added custom keyboard shortcuts to the Claude user interface for creating new chat, new chat in new window, etc etc.
Some of the changes might sound small but when you’re coding every they, they stack up and save you so much time. Would love to hear what everyone else has been implementing to take llm coding efficiency to another level.

2024.05.20 06:52 Alive-Ostrich2177 cat attacked me after not being fed and i accidentally kicked him out of pain, Constant occurrence HELP!!

My cat is a two year old neutered male that i adopted, and he’s always been extremely aggressive when he doesn’t get his way when it comes to feeding. for example if i don’t feed him after 11 pm he’ll attack my legs and make me bleed, causing me to have to lock him out of the bedroom at night, tonight however i was trying to get some sugar and he was meowing on and on how he usually does when he wants food after his usual feeding schedules, and as usual i told him in a kind tone, “ no, you already had your dinner tonight, no more buddy.” and so i went to leave and go back to my bedroom and he proceeded to attack my knee and draw blood, causing me to have a negative immediate reaction of getting him off and accidentally kicking him, i feel super shitty about it but he does this all the time and i’m really getting tired of bleeding just because he doesn’t get his way, what in the hell can i do to stop this problem??

2024.05.20 06:50 kartvee This entrepreneur buys a gas station for his wife’s baby shower

This entrepreneur buys a gas station for his wife’s baby shower
If you’re interested in growing your wealth, starting a business, or living a truly rich life, these six tips can help you do it the right way.
He didn’t buy a bed until he got married. And when his wife was pregnant, he wondered, “How much does a baby cost?” Today he owns ten gas stations and even a building that houses the Wells Fargo bank.
https://preview.redd.it/h815a0yvei1d1.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b4d65328ee20c0a2a76e2239c535b06006828c5c
The farther down this page you read, you’ll understand how you too can buy gas stations and banks.
More importantly, you’ll start to feel, think, and act like a wealthy entrepreneur.
A wise man once told me this:
I remember these words like it was yesterday…
And I like what it means. But I had one problem though.
I struggled to understand the specific principles that wealthy people used to think.
So tell me something…
How did you buy your first car?
Did you buy it cash down?
Or, did you borrow money? Took an auto loan, perhaps?
Let me tell you a little story.

Buying my first car.

Over twenty years ago, I bought my first car.
And everything happened so quickly…
A car salesman stopped me at my office lobby. He asked if I was interested in buying a car. And he handed me a pamphlet.
It basically said that based on my salary, I was eligible to take an auto loan.
The promise that I could drive a brand-new car in ten days was too tempting.
So I gave in. I signed up for an auto loan.
And in less than ten days, I had this shiny new gray-color car!
It had power windows, an electronic steering wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, and all the bells and whistles. Smart move, right?

Hold on to your horses!

Smart move or not, I’ll let you decide after you’re done reading the rest of this post.
Recently, I’ve been binge-listening to some of the backdated episodes of a podcast I LOVE.
And I bumped into a very familiar name.
Syed Balkhi.

The millionaire teen.

I first heard of Syed long ago in 2006 when I started blogging. But little did I pay attention to what he did. All I knew was that he had a website called WPBeginner.
It was a blog about WordPress for people who built WordPress websites or plugins. I liked his content and spent a lot of time reading his blog posts as I was building WordPress websites too.
Syed is in his thirties today. Which means he must’ve been in his early teens in 2006!
In about eighteen months of starting WPBeginner, he made his first million dollars in annual revenue.
And ever since, he’s grown his business, Awesome Motive, big time by acquiring other WordPress companies.
If you aren’t familiar with WordPress, it’s a CMS software. Content Management System, in short.
It’s a software that supposedly powers 40% of the internet. But that’s not the best part. Here’s what is:
Syed’s company today owns ~60% of all WordPress businesses.
https://preview.redd.it/q94pw2dyei1d1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad09e2577179c030bdbba726b7dbaf7f368d44bc
I call this the Balkhi Domination Disc.
Put simply, Syed’s businesses power 24% of the internet.
This is HEWGE!
Okay, another story…

The gas station story.

At some point on the podcast, Syed goes…
Offset expenses?
I was on a run while listening to this, and almost tripped when he said that.
Okay. Take a deep breath. I did that too…
Coz from this point on, it’s PURE GOLD.
And here goes the first and biggest lesson in wealth creation…

Tip #1: Every time you need to buy a depreciating asset, invest in an appreciating asset.

Syed says he learned this lesson from his mentor when he was thirteen or fourteen.
The best way to understand this is to loop back to my opening story…
When I bought my first car, I paid the monthly installments using my salary.
But when Syed’s mentor bought his Mercedes, he didn’t spend money from his savings. Instead, he decided to invest money in real estate. And he used the returns from that real estate to finance his shiny new Mercedes.
When Syed’s wife was pregnant with their first son…
He followed the exact blueprint.
He knew the money one would need with a baby birth – hospital charges, medicines, diapers, toys, and everything else!
So instead of spending money from his savings, Syed used the lesson he learned from his mentor to cover the cost of raising a baby – he bought a gas station!
It didn’t just give him the money to pay for the baby shower and childbirth. The gas station would continue to generate a steady flow of cash every single year.
Darn! Why didn’t it ever strike me before?
Mentor, baby! I’m glad to have found one in a podcast!
Okay, let’s look at the next one…

Tip #2: Build a recurring revenue business

In a content business, you turn email subscribers into paying customers. But Syed calls them just re-occurring revenue. The revenue occurs every time someone on your list buys something from you.
A new customer pays once. And unless you sell them something else, you aren’t going to make bank. The only way your business is going to see revenue trickle in from that customer is when you sell to them again.
The solution?
Build a recurring revenue business.
Syed regularly invests and acquires other WordPress software and tools businesses. This allows him to cross-sell software and tools to existing info product customers.
Of course, you can build recurring revenue info products too, using memberships and subscriptions – but Syed didn’t get into that on this podcast.
So yes, using revenue to acquire new businesses is a great idea. But how much should you invest?
Syed has stuck to one principle:

Tip #3: Heads I win, tails I don’t lose much

Syed learned this principle from his friend Monish Pabrai.
In his book The Dhando Investor, Monish talks about the Patels of India. He describes how this relatively tiny subset of humanity from eastern India went on to own most of the motels in the United States.
According to Monish, one of the biggest reasons why the Patels have been successful in business is because they always have followed this principle – heads I win, tails I don’t lose much. So what does this mean?
Let’s look at it with an example.
Assume the intrinsic value of a certain business is $1,000,000, and you buy it for $700,000. What you just did in that transaction is what he describes as a “heads I win, tails I don’t lose much”.
Because let’s say you did a great job with the business and the intrinsic value went up – you win!
But just in case you didn’t do much with the business and the intrinsic value dropped by $400,000, you only lose $100,000.
Heads you win, tails you don’t lose much!
This is wild!
At this point, I was fully invested in listening to this conversation. And I was just getting restless thinking…
“How can I buy a business on the cheap?”
And it just felt like the hosts heard me!
Let’s look at the answer to my question.

Tip #4: Identify “mismanaged gems” to compound at high double-digit

Back in the 1990s, my uncle built an empire buying distressed real estate properties. And it wasn’t easy. Every time he bought one, there was a lot of work to be done.
From litigation and dispute issues to structural issues, he was usually handed a mess. That’s why they were called distressed assets – thankfully, my uncle had the wherewithal to turn them around.
Mismanaged gems are different.
Syed describes mismanaged gems as good (online) businesses with some limitations. These could be in the form of having limited revenue streams, limited target audience, or something else.
Let’s look at a couple of examples…
  • Let’s take an online business where the creator isn’t aware of the different ways to monetize their business. You can acquire this business for $15,000. You use your Facebook Ads skills to sell $20,000 worth of info products and instantly increase the revenue.
  • If an online business has been running only using word-of-mouth marketing, you can acquire it and use your email list to instantly grow the business by exposing them to a new audience.
Here’s how Syed puts it…
“A business might only be thinking about monetizing from one angle. They’re not thinking about it from a full perspective. So I can look at it and say well yes this is the current revenue today, and I’m getting a bargain on today’s revenue. But here are my contracts that I have with so many different partners and vendors and such that I’ll be able to unlock extra revenue here, here, and here. So I turned this business that has one revenue stream to having like multiple revenue streams. That’s how you take something that was doing like no revenue to or very low revenue to having five eight ten million dollars in revenue.” – Syed Balkhi

Tip #5: Leverage the Ecosystem effect

If you’re starting a business, look for an ecosystem. What does that mean?
Syed’s entire online business is built around the WordPress ecosystem.
But there are many other software platforms like WordPress that have an ecosystem. Look at software like QuickBooks, Google Chrome, or Xero. These software platforms are built like an ecosystem, allowing developers to build plugins and extensions.
Most of these plugins and extensions are sizeable businesses in and of themselves. So if you’re starting a business, you’re better off starting one inside an ecosystem.
Starting a business inside an ecosystem exposes you to massive opportunities. You can grow your business through acquisitions, and cross-selling, amongst many other ways. And this also helps you compound over time.
Related Post: Speaking of selling, I think you’ll find value in this episode on The Launch Plan podcast about the F-Word that stops clients from buying your products.

Tip #6: Go from creatooperator to capital allocator

This one is an advanced idea. If you’ve done well with your business and have some cash in the bank, this one’s for ya!
Essentially what Syed says here is that you have one of two choices:
  1. You can choose to build a business from scratch, or
  2. You can acquire an existing business and multiply it.
Obviously, this is an advanced tip. But great business owners don’t master capital allocation overnight. While there are some common traits between the two, it’s a skill you need to build.
I haven’t bought a business so far. But I’m very interested in this. You’ll likely see me writing more on this topic in future posts.

Bonus ‘Rick’ Tip: Don’t be in a hurry to get wealthy

Have you heard of Rick Guerin?
If you haven’t, no worries. Neither did I – until I listened to this podcast.
Rick Guerin was Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger’s third business partner at Berkshire Hathaway.
Huh? Really?
I couldn’t believe it either. A third partner?
So looked up the interwebs for proof.
It turns out to be TRUE!
Here’s how Monish Pabrai describes what happened to Rick:
Rick was just as smart as Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. But he was in a hurry. And that’s the bonus tip!
That’s a wrap! Enjoyed reading this?

2024.05.20 06:46 SteveW_MC StopKillingGames - A Mogul Mail Suggestion

Some of the commenters during Sunday's Stream mentioned the global campaign to bring federal lawsuits and petitions against videogame publishers who intentionally sabotage the functionality of videogames when the servers shut down. They wanted Ludwig to do a Mogul Mail about it. I wasn't 1 of those commenters, nor am I a representative spearheading this initiative, but I am somewhat familiar with what's going on and wanted to explain it here to see if others are interested. So what is going on?

The Crew

The videogame "The Crew", published by Ubisoft, was recently destroyed for all players and had a playerbase of at least 12 million people. Due to the game's size and France's strong consumer protection laws, this represents one of the best opportunities to hold a publisher accountable for this action. If we are successful in charges being pressed against Ubisoft, this can have a ripple effect on the videogames industry to prevent publishers from destroying more games.
Source
More about "The Crew" Specifically
This includes both physical and digital versions of the game, by the way, as the game cannot function without pinging to the now offline servers, making it completely nonfunctional.

The Petition

Official government petitions have been introduced to prohibit the practice of intentionally rendering commercial videogames inoperable when support ends. Currently, petitions for the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have been launched and will soon be open for signing. Plans are also underway for the European Union, but will unfortunately be delayed due to processing times. Further government petitions may be started later with enough assistance.
You can go to the website https://www.stopkillinggames.com and click "take action here" to sign a petition for your country. Depending on the country you're in, you may have to have actually owned the game "the crew" in order to sign, but regardless it's important to understand this increasingly prevalent issue and bring awareness to it.
Here's a video about the initiative from its founder

Erasing Videogames and History

This ties into another videogame-related issue. Most videogames cannot be legally obtained anymore.
Only 13 percent of classic video games published in the United States are currently in release (n = 1500, ±2.5%, 95% CI). These low numbers are consistent across platform ecosystems and time periods. Troublingly, the reissue rate drops below 3 percent for games released prior to 1985—the foundational era of video games—indicating that the interests of the marketplace may not align with the needs of video game researchers. Our experiences gathering data for this study suggest that these problems will intensify over time due to a low diversity of reissue sources and the long-term volatility of digital game storefronts.
Video about the study.
But Nintendo has like 20 N64 games available on Nintendo Online so....

A Symptom of a Wider Problem

Videogame companies are doing what all companies have been trying to do for years now: stop you from owning anything, and requiring you to rent everything.
Ubisoft’s Director of Subscriptions Phillippe Tremblay said: “...gamers are used to, a little bit like DVD, having and owning their games. That’s the consumer shift that needs to happen. They got comfortable not owning their CD collection or DVD collection. That’s a transformation that’s been a bit slower to happen in games.” Source. Video talking about it
They don't want you to own your games. They want to be able to take away the thing you "purchased", destroy it so it no longer works, and force you to buy something new.
GamePass
Gamepass is literally exactly what the corporate overlords are trying to push the entire industry toward: rentiership of all videogames. "Games as a Service" is a fraud.
It's not just videogames
Whenever you "buy" an ebook or movie from, say, Apple, Amazon, Google, etc., or a videogame from Steam, Sony, etc., you don't actually own that piece of digital media. You are renting the product and getting a perpetual license. That license can be revoked at any time for any reason by the company and you will have the thing you "bought" revoked.
This has happened a lot over the years. For example: Telstra.
...[Telstra] announced it would shut down the service in June. Customers were told that unless they moved over to another service, Fetch, they would no longer be able to access the films and TV shows they had bought.
This isn’t simply a case of Netflix removing Friends from the service when a content agreement runs out. These were films and shows people had bought with the expectation they could watch them whenever they wanted – indefinitely.
Vicki Russell posted on X last week saying she was being asked by Telstra to pay $200 for Fetch to retain access to what she said was $2,500-worth of purchases.
Source, fantastic video talking about article
Microsoft Book Store
In 2019, Microsoft shut down their ebook store, erasing all customers' books from their devices. Fortunately, Microsoft offered a refund for the books purchased. Something they did to not raise customer ire, not because they were legally required to do so.
They are able to completely erase the books the customers "bought" because of Digital Rights Management (DRM)
"One of the things that I think people don't realize that's crucially important is that DRM and related software tools are embedded in all sorts of devices that we buy," Aaron Perzanowski, the author of The End of Ownership: Personal Property in the Digital Economy, tells NPR's Lulu Garcia-Navarro.
"Your car, your smart home appliances, your home security system – all of these systems have software that allows for this kind of control over how the devices are used, and I think we're going to see these same sorts of situations crop up in the context of physical devices that are being used in people's homes."
"As this technology has been deployed what we've seen is that the big beneficiaries of DRM have not been copyright holders. They have been technology companies like Amazon, like Microsoft, who are able to control these ecosystems to make it harder for consumers to switch over to new platforms."
Source
Sony
TV Shows "purchased" through the Play Station store were slated to be erased according to an announcement in December 2023. However, do to the immense and justified backlash, they reneged for now.
Apple
Apple can remove a movie from the App Store and, in some cases, make it impossible for you to access your "purchased" version if you don't have it downloaded. Source
Amazon
In 2020, a Class Action Lawsuit was filed against Amazon for this very reason. "Caudel v Amazon"
The plaintiff claimed that Amazon misleads customers about the reality of what it means to “purchase” a video through the site. Allegedly, the company is aware that customers will believe that purchasing a video gives them unlimited access to it because that is the usual understanding of the word “buy.”
The case was dismissed out of the California Federal Court due to lack of standing). Source.
These Terms of Use expressly state that purchasers obtain only a limited license to view video content and that purchased content may become unavailable due to provider license restriction or other reasons.
AKA: You don't own anything.
Source
More on the lawsuit. The legal filing. Dismissal
This phenomenon is part of what is known as "rentism", "rentier capitalism" or "techno-economic rentiership". It goes far beyond just movies and videogames, but this is getting a bit far afield from what one might expect from a standard Mogul Mail, so I won't dive deeper into that aspect of the subject, but you can google those terms and phrases to find some fun reading.

I forgot to tie this into the "Right to Repair" but this post is getting too long.

Can't even fix the stuff you own. Do you even really own it?
Tractors.
Ludwig, if you're reading this, please do a Mogul Mail about this topic; at least the videogame stuff. You can use all of these sources I've compiled and you don't need to credit me for the compilation. I don't care. This is important and more people should know.

2024.05.20 06:45 quittingcoldchicken Trying to find an old Choate Athletics shirt

My dad had 2 of these, one in a M and one in a L. I lost the L and I’m desperately trying to find a replacement in time for Father’s Day. He told me he got it at an alumni event at the Rosebowl stadium in Pasadena circa 2017, but I’ve also found a similar design (the CRH with the size below it, but in yellow instead of grey) in shirts from the 80s which was when he attended
  1. If anyone is able to find this actual shirt on eBay or Poshmark that would be amazing
  2. If someone can tell me exactly what type of Champion shirt this is, so I can find someone on Etsy to re-create the design onto it. it might be futile, but ideally I would like to find the exact one, especially if it’s some old style. I did some research and most champion shirts have a physical tag now, but this was printed so I want to match it as closely as possible
Thank you all so so much!!

2024.05.20 06:43 StructureSudden8217 I’m getting my lip blush touch up appointment on wednesday. Prior to this, my artist told me that she overlined as much of my cupid’s bow as possible but not sure if that’s accurate..?

I’m getting my lip blush touch up appointment on wednesday. Prior to this, my artist told me that she overlined as much of my cupid’s bow as possible but not sure if that’s accurate..?
First pic is my 6 week lip blush results and the last two pics are how I do my lip makeup. I think a lot of people want for artists to go above what’s realistic for their natural lip shape so the last pic kind of serves as an example that I’m not really overlining, more so I’m just coloring in my super pale cupid’s bow.
So basically I got my lips blushed because I’ve always been insecure about how pale my cupid’s bow is, the top is completely invisible but the skin feels like lip skin and it’s noticeably plumpesticks out from the skin surrounding my lips.
