2024.06.01 06:05 JoeDirtBuffett My 94 year old Grandma left us this bio she wrote during Covid.

“She Made the Salad”
Memoirs of Kathryn Robinson Knight
Dedicated to her Descendants
Summer of 2020
My mom and dad were married after he returned to Auburn following the First World War. Dad’s official name was Carey Carslile Robinson, but we called him “Cackey.” He was an Army First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry at the time. He referred to himself as a foot soldier and always kept his service in the Reserves up to date and remained on inactive duty.
Cackey’s first job was Line Coach at Auburn. He and my mom “ran away” after the GA Tech – Auburn game in Atlanta. She was eighteen; he was twenty-four years old. (This is the story I was told, but the dates may be off!)
After his football career, my father was Athletic Director at Mercer University in Macon, GA. My sister, Suzanne, was born there in 1924. He was later Athletic Director at Birmingham Southern, which is where I was born in 1930.
Our family later moved sixty miles to Alexander City, where Dad bought the Ford franchise car dealership. My mother’s family had the same business in Opelika; my dad’s brothers had a franchise in Kansas. So, we have always been in the car business – General Motors, Chrysler, Cadillac, etc.
It was in “Alex City” that I started school and also began dance instruction in 1935. In 1940 my dad was recalled to active duty and was promoted to Captain and sent to Columbia, SC, where Fort Jackson is located – U.S. Artillery Headquarters.
War was anticipated, and Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941. “A day that will live in infamy.” My dad was Provost Marshall (Head of Military Police.) In 1940 there were 10,000 soldiers at Camp Jackson. After 1941, the numbers grew to 75,000 men almost overnight.
What an experience for an eleven-year-old! So many things changed during those three and a half years of war time. It reminds me of the current craziness of today’s world.
Fort Jackson was visited by so many top security people, from President Roosevelt to Churchill and all the generals who came to see the troops in review. My family was allowed to see all this because of my dad’s job. Not many people had this experience.
Many famous people came to entertain the troops, which we also got to see. Entertainers included some of the 40’s greats such as Bob Hope, Tommy Dorsey, Bing Crosby, and Benny Goodman. America at War is something I will never forget! It was in Columbia that I got my very best dance training.
In 1945 we were transferred to Fort Benning, GA. My dad was a Major by then and with the Infantry School at Benning. This was a beautiful place to live! Two historic events took place there. First, when President Roosevelt died in Warm Springs, GA, his body was taken there. His sendoff by train to Washington, DC, was full of pomp and circumstance. Also, a mass celebration occurred at the end of World War II.
In 1947 my father was transferred to Pratt General Hospital in Coral Gables, FL, due to a medical emergency – ruptured gall bladder. Dad, a Lieutenant Colonel by then, retired at that time. My parents decided to stay in Miami Beach until I finished high school in 1948. My last two years were at Miami Senior High.
I went to Florida State University for my freshman year of college, and pledge Delta Delta Delta social sorority. The chapter in Gainesville was new and needed older chapter members to help get it established.
The National Traveling Secretary wanted chapter members from Stetson, University of Miami, and FSU to transfer to UF. There were about ten of us from other schools who agreed to do this, so I transferred to the University of Florida for the remaining years of my college education.
Our group was very close and worked hard for Tri Delt. It was great fun! Our reward was to be allowed to live in the sorority house. Not often is that privilege extended to sophomores.
I majored in elementary education. Dance classes were always part of my life – on the university level and in private studio classes. This was true in both Tallahassee and Gainesville. At that time there was no dance major – too bad!
“Dancing with the Stars”
I started dance in Alexander City at age five and was always involved in a dance program during all of my school years. In Columbia, SC, my serious ballet training began. From ages eleven to fifteen, “class” was every day, and I was a “studio rat” – a group of kids who were always at the studio.
The Foster School of Dance had many students and adults who were members of the Carolina Ballet Company (the regional ballet company.) I was a junior member. Mrs. Foster took three of us to New York during the summer for two years. It was great training and a wonderful experience.
As an Army “brat,” we moved to Fort Benning, and I studied in Columbus, GA. I took dance on weekends in Atlanta. It was at this time that I met Mrs. Dorothy Alexander as a teacher. She later became Artistic Director of the Atlanta Civic Ballet Company. This is still an outstanding company!
They came to Orlando periodically, and I always loved to see them. Later, in Miami, I also found a great teacher. The love of dance never ends.
“Don’t Tell Mom!”
After college, when I married Gordon Oldham in Opelika, AL, and moved to Leesburg in 1952, my dance was put on hold while I raised a family. I managed to substitute teach in Leesburg at Helen St. John’s Studio at Lake Sumter Community College for continuing education classes.
The years spent raising my family will always be remembered as the very best! Raising my three children – Gordon, John, and Carey – was and always will be the greatest joy of my life. All three of my children are Gators now.
During these years I did all the things that were important to life in Leesburg: Junior Women’s Club, Triangle Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Garden Club, and – always – St. James Episcopal Church work.
In later years, I became involved with Women for Hospice, Heritage Society, LSCC Foundation Board, and the Performing Arts programs. I also assisted Lifestream with social dances for the mental health center.
I was divorced in 1977. In 1978, I married Art Knight (a Seminole!) and acquired another son – Arthur - also a Seminole. That same year I fulfilled a lifelong dream and opened the Kathryn Knight School of Dance studio. The next sixteen years were devoted to teaching many children the love and joy of dance.
Art and I enjoyed living part time in the mountains of Maggie Valley in North Carolina until his death in 2011. We were able to achieve many of our dreams and scratch lots of items off our bucket lists. These included traveling to Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, and my favorite – St. Petersburg, Russia. I was fortunate to attend the ballet Giselle while there, an experience I will always treasure.
Our greatest pleasures came from our ten grandchildren. I now have four great-grandchildren and hopefully anticipate more. I am a three-time cancer survivor and am grateful for each and every day of my life.

2024.06.01 02:15 Environmental-Chef19 Been in love with her for 8 years, but I'm just her secret

I've recently gotten my heart broken by this girl, the one I call the love of my life. I've always been a passive redditor but I can't handle my feelings and decided to give it a chance a write this off and see what people think, it migth help?
For the last 8 years I've been in love with one of my sister's best friends.
For context: I've known this girl for about 20 years, let's call her Sophia. My little sister always teased me that Sophia had a crush on me, beck then I was 12 years old and I was not interested in a 8 year old girl. We grow up in Latin America in a country were is not taboo to date someone underage as long as the age gap is not crazy. Furthermore our relationship never became physical until we were both of age.
Fast forward 8 years later and I'm picking up my sister from school and I see her all grown up. She had drown into a beautiful young woman. I was dating my first girlfriend at the moment so I never considered anything to happen.
One day Sophia comes to my hose to "study" with my sister. The reality was that she used the excuse to meet up with her ex that wanted to ask for another opportunity. I drove her to the place were they meet and after their argument. She didn't want to be with him anymore and he was just pleading and saying he had changed etc. After this, she and I spent the rest of the day together. I had some errands to run and she accompanied me. That was the very first time we really talked. We talked about life, relationships, guys, girls, etc. We found we were really similar in a lot of things and personality wise. At the end of the day we were waiting for her parents to pick her up. She put her head in my shoulder and my heart started pumping. Nothing happened, maybe she wanted me to kiss her, but I was still with my ex and was just too new to dating to not freeze.
A couple of weeks later me and my ex had splitted due to me finding out she had being cheating in my for months. That's a story for another day.
My family got the opportunity to move to the US and we decided to go. During our last month in our home country we had many goodbye parties. In one of those a large group of friends visited to watch a movie. I was seating in the floor with my head tilted agains the sofa and Sophia was behind me. She started striking my hair without anyone noticing it. That nigth I walked her down of our apartment and we finally kissed. That was the real beginning of my forever crush on her.
Back then I had only had one girlfriend, knew nothing of dating and I was now in a new overly sexualized country. I had the time to explore new relationships and learn. Sophia and I never discussed our feelings bcs there was no realistic way for us to date long distance. We never stopped talking though, we never stopped being flirty with each other. I sent her flowers on her birthday and chocolates on valentines. Our lives continued and each dated separedly for a couple years.
My sister and I went back to our home country to visit family and for her friends high school graduation (for us high school graduation is a bigger deal than in the US, prom is a party that goes up to the next day). I helped Sophia with her graduation dress, I helped her choose one and when she bought it, I sent it to her to our home country. When I visited her I wasn't expecting getting into a relationship with her, she was still just a crush and the prospect of a long distance relationship didn't work for us.
I finally saw her at her prom reception, she looked like a Greek goddess with the white dress I had sent her. We took a photo that almost look like a wedding picture, that picture now just hurts my heart. Everything was great, I was expecting to dance all night with her. Then it all crumbled when she introduced me to her boyfriend. The had started dating just a couple of weeks prior to this. My heart broke a little. I spent the rest of the nigth in my hotel room, I couldn't see her with someone else. I couldn't blame her though, I never told her I wanted to spent that nigth with her, and other than being flirty, I had never discussed my feelings. The next day at her graduation ceremony her parents (I've known all her family for years, being friends with our family) invited me to go to lunch with them to celebrate Sophia's graduation. I had to politely decline because her boyfriend was there. They didn't know her daughter and I had history.
I ended up spending that visit to my home country with friends and even rekindle an old flame with another girl I've dated previously. Sophia and I talked only once for her to tell me sorry for not telling me she had a boyfriend, that she thought I didn't care anymore. Again we never stopped texting after this.
A year later she and her family visited us in the US. I was just back from an study abroad program in Europe. Sophia and I ended up studying both architecture. I was on my third year and she was just starting back home. Her parents were interested in me taking her to the same study abroad program as it was architecture oriented and outside students could be part of it. I was amazed of how her parents wanted (and offered to pay for part of my expenses) me to basically take a month long vacation with their dauther in Europe.
One day picked her up in her hotel (she lied and told her parents she was spending the morning with another friend). I took her to est some breakfast at IHOP. We talked again about us, she told me that she and that boyfriend had broken up. We basically catched up on each other. When we were at the car, the tension was such that it could be cut with a knives. We kissed again, the flame was still there.
During that trip we went out, went to the beach, to the malls, hanging up, clubs, etc. It was the closest thing to dating we had ever had. One day she asked me to pick her up to her friends place, she was drunk and couldn't get to her parents that way, I took her to McDonald's and bought her chicken nuggets. It was about 2 am. She started crying, she told me she didn't understand why I was so good to her, how I was the only good guy in her life that cared for her really. I stayed with her until she sobered up and left her at her parents, she kissed me goodnight kindly.
On her last 2 days in the states she stayed at our place (it was a normal sleepover since she and my sister have been friends since 6). They had a girls nigth. I just spent some times with them watching a movie. We hold hands under the sheets.
That nigth around 3 am she sneaked into my bedroom and we proceeded to have one of those nights you can only dream about, one of those nights that cements themselves in your brain. I can recall every damn second, her smell, how her skin felt under my fingers. The taste of her lips and the sound of her voice trying not to be too loud.
She and her family left the US after that. We kept texting, this time not only flirty, but actually lovingly. unfortunately little by little she stopped replying, then stopped texting first. A couple of days later she went back to her ex and again broke my heart. I felt betrayed, I felt used. I thought that finally we migth had a chance at something but she decided otherwise.
I was really hurting and out of petty, I overtalcked at a house party my sister had with some friends from our country. Basically a "never have I ever been with my sisters friend". Everyone knew we had history but never confirmed it. One of the girls at the party started the rumor that Sophia and I Have had sex. Weather it was true, or hometown learned of this and it even reached her boyfriend. I only knew of this when she confronted me about it almost a year later. She was furious, I was so angry at myself thinking I had screwed it over for real.
Years passed and I had little by little let go of her. We only talked sporadically, wishing happy birthday and stuff like that.
4 years passed and we finally started talking again. She was living in Spain doing an MBA and she wanted to catch up. We talked for hours like nothing ever happened, she told me how her life had changed, experiences she had. I was amazed how our lives had mirrored, similar life decisions, similar trauma. I honestly think we are soul mates. I confessed that I always wanted to have a relationship with her. She told me that I was the one that got away (or something similar, it doesn't translates to English).
Since I was in a relationship and she was still adamant to having a long distance relationship, we just said godbye for now. To each of us to live our lives happily and if one day our paths crossed, it migth just be destiny.
We didn't talk much until valentines day of this year (2024). She texted me asking if there was a song thst reminded me of her. We exchanged songs and kept talking. Just like always, like we never stopped caring for each other. A couple of weeks later I sent her yellow flowers ( it's a thing back home to send yellow flowers at the end of May to the girl you love). She really like them but I noticed she didn't put it on Instagram or anything, again a secret. She had always kept me a secret from her parents and from her sister. She told me that even though she loved the flowers, she didn't wanted me to be hurt by her not loving me like I loved her.
We kept texting a flirting for weeks and she randomly sent me a message with a ticket to Miami (where I live). If you don't have feeling for me, WHY WOULD YOU SENT ME THAT?. She was coming to visit some friends. We planned a road trip to Orlando and to go to Disney with her friends.
The 2 months we planned stuff, places to go, stuff to do. I made a plan to confess all my bottled feelings for her, wrote her a 4 page love letter that I sealed in an emvelop with my own wax seal (I'm theatrical like that). But in social media I started seeing signs thst she migth be dating someone... Nothing official even now. I had my suspicions but wanted to see where things were going.
I picked her up in the airport, she was as beautiful as ever, we went to a restaurant and ate and talked until 3am. Not a mention of a boyfriend. Back when we arrived at my family's house (I moved back to my parents after covid, I'm moving back out on August) we kept talking in my bedroom for hours, almost until the sun came up. We were al must cheek to cheek, nose touching. I went for the kiss but she stopped me. She told me she couldn't. I told her that I knew she might had someone but I didn't know how serious it was. We ended up cuddling the rest of the nigth.
She left to Orlando on a train and I was supposed to join her in the weekend since I work.
We stayed at a resort with her friend. I stayed at her room in the sofa. No one asked questions. We went to the parks and had a good time. In the middle of disney she got a video call from her parents, she kept me out of their sight and didn't pass me to say hello. Again I was a secret. She told me that she couldn't tell her parents that I was staying with her, that they would thing something else was happening. How could she explain that to her parents?. I was angry. If that was the case how could she explain my presence to her boyfriend back home? Was I a secret for him as well? How can you organize all this and still say you don't have feelings for me? If I'm just a friend and nothing is going on... What's IS going on?
She flew back home a couple of days ago. We haven't talked. I refuse to see her instagram. She published a couple of photos that I FUCKING TOOK of her, for the boyfriend to reply with love and hearts. I'm afraid the boyfriend is also a good guy, with good feelings. It's not his fault what she's doing to me. I'm also afraid that since this actually a good guy, he'll propose and she'll say yes. After all of this I can't imagine her ending up with someone else. I had a panic attack just thinking about that.
I know my mistake this trip was being just a simp for her. I wasn't my self, I let my intrusive thouths to take over me and just be a simp for her. Now I'm tired, heart broken, depressed. Food doesn't taste the same, I don't want to leave my bed. I've had even suicidal thoughts, even though I know deep down I would never actually do it.
Sorry for the long post but I needed to vent.

Manor Lords Releases Big New Update
Manor Lords developer Slavic Magic has released a major new update, addressing several technical issues that have been affecting the early access city-building game. The new Manor Lords update also adds a slew of new items and features, and the developers recommend players begin a new save to see all the changes.
Similar to the Civilization franchise, Manor Lords offers compelling strategy and city-building elements. The game launched in early access this past April on PC, quickly becoming one of the most highly rated games on Steam with a Very Positive rating after more than 39,000 user reviews. Despite some of the game's technical issues in early access, the game's sales continue to flourish as the developers maintain an open line of communication with its player base.
Slavic Magic released Manor Lords update 0.7.972 and revealed a lengthy list of changes in the patch notes. Firstly, the developers note that players should begin a new save and remove their favorite Manor Lords mods to ensure all the changes and additions in update 0.7.972 are applied to their playthrough. Update 0.7.972's new features include inter-region trading via Trading Posts, a mourning period for deceased residents, and a King's Tax mechanic. What's more, the update adds new armor variations, a Large Granary building rework, a new St. Maurice patron saint, an "allow market stall setup" toggle, and a construction reserve.
Manor Lords update 0.7.972 also applies numerous changes involving gameplay and balance, including adjustments to resources and agriculture, the in-game economy and trading/market systems, and infrastructure. A number of quality-of-life improvements were implemented as well, such as a 75% reduction in ale consumption, an increased carrying capacity for on-foot trading post workers, and a doubled fertility regeneration rate for crops. All of these changes mean that players should have a much easier time exporting and trading the best items in Manor Lords.
On PC, the latest Manor Lords update applies various fixes and tweaks to anti-aliasing and upscaling selection upon the game's first-time launch with specific GPUs, including Nvidia's RTX 40 series graphics cards. Alongside minor adjustments to the in-game market, the update implements fixes and changes to the user interface to aid in visibility and accessibility for all users.
Since the game is going to be in early access for the next year, Slavic Magic has plenty of time to gauge player feedback and introduce new features that could enhance the Manor Lords experience. The Manor Lords developers encourage Steam users to submit a review since the team often checks the Steam page to read up on players' thoughts.
Manor Lords Update 0.7.972 Patch Notes Major Changes
The King's Tax (or Annual Royal Tax, name undecided):
The tax is collected annually from all players (main player and AI) and goes to the liege. It is calculated per population, serving as a counterbalance for players hoarding huge wealth despite non-optimized economies.
Currently, players can incur debt without consequence. In the future, failure to pay will result in losing the king's favor and eventually facing the king's army as enemies.
Global/Local Trade Switch for Trading Posts:
Players can now switch trade to "local only" in the trading post for each type of good, allowing them to exchange goods between their own regions while ignoring free merchants. Two trading posts (one in each region) are still required to make this function work. Employed traders will prioritize traveling to the location with the best prices to commence trade, potentially including regions owned by other Lords. The transport distance factor is reduced to make it more predictable for players where traders will go (to the place with the best price). Regional wealth is still required to exchange goods between regions with a trading post to maintain regions as independent economic units, simulating a more realistic economy.
Gameplay & Balance
Resource Management & Agricultural Adjustments
Food Consumption: People now pick a random food resource instead of eating food in a specific order. Crop Fertility: Fertility is no longer drained after crop growth reaches 100%, making early harvest micromanagement less necessary. Yield may still increase over 100% growth if max yield is not reached. Yield Cap: will now never increase past 100% growth to avoid confusion about exceeding 100%. Even when fertility reaches 0%, there will still be a small possible yield. Harvesting Efficiency: When harvesting, crops are directly added to the field inventory instead of the villager inventory to reduce bottlenecks from harvesting walk times, especially for large fields. Oxen Prioritization: Prioritized oxen plowing over transporting resources to the granary and warehouse to reduce oxen walking back and forth from the plowed field every time new resources are available for transport. Plowing Shed: Plowing shed now adds 2 livestock worker slots. Food Distribution: Food-producing residential plots no longer stock up on their produce before sharing with the marketplace. Sawpit Log Storage: Increased sawpit log storage space to 5.
Economic & Trade Developments
Baron Region Claims: Lowered the rate of the Baron claiming regions and adjusted it to better reflect game settings. Worker Camp Upgrade: Removed the worker camp upgrade intended for colony regions; it will be re-added when properly implemented. Trade Route Establishment: When establishing a trade route, merchants no longer all spawn at the nearest trade point but are distributed to circle between various trade points. Archer Damage: Archer damage increased from 4 to 13. Trade Logistics Development: The "Trade Logistics" development branch now lowers the cost of new trade routes by 50% instead of clamping it at 25. Trade Route Costs: Increased the base cost of opening a trade route from 12 to 20 (before the good value multiplier). Reverted the cost of opening new trade routes to linear scaling. Market Oversupply: When the market is oversupplied, players can still export goods at a lower price. The price multiplier for oversupplied goods is now 0.75x for oversupplied and 0.5x for critically oversupplied. Market Oversupply Rate: The rate at which the market becomes oversupplied no longer depends on the value of goods, ensuring equal rates for all good types. Better Deals Development: The "Better Deals" development branch reduces the foreign import tariff by 50% instead of removing it completely. Global Market Supply: Tuned global market supply to rebalance itself faster, aiming for a closer to one-year cycle if not trading.
Quality of Life & Infrastructure
Ale Consumption: Reduced ale consumption by 75% (approximately 1/3 per family per month). Building Placement: Made building placement steepness limits harsher to prevent trading posts and churches from looking awkward on sharp slopes. Soldier Approval Factor: Soldiers no longer trigger the "unburied bodies" approval factor when corpses are in their proximity. Hitching Post: Hitching post is free again to reduce the chances of players getting stuck without an ox, hitching post, or the ability to order an ox. Sheep Breeding: Capped sheep breeding to a maximum of 1 new lamb every 10 days. Water Fetching: Villagers are now only allowed to fetch water from the well nearest to their home, except in case of a fire. Maximum Yield per Plant: Increased the maximum yield per plant from 2 to 4 (Hunting Grounds policy still reduces it by half). Plant Yield Rate: Plant yield rate reduced by half to encourage early harvest only in emergency mode. Militia Squad Limit: The militia squad limit is now 6, regardless of whether the player has a retinue or mercenaries. This will be connected to a rank system in the future. Fertility Regeneration: Doubled the fertility regeneration rate effect on fallow fields and from fertilization. Plant Growth Rate: Adjusted crop growth to match crop rotation (to hit 100% at harvest as often as it can on auto). Tree Growth Rate: Slowed down tree growth rate by around 30% to enhance forest management impact. Trading Post Workers: Increased the carrying capacity of on-foot trading post workers from 1 to 5. Royal Tax Calculation: Royal tax is calculated as follows: No tax for the first 5 years, 1 Treasury per citizen after 5 years, 2 Treasury per citizen after 10 years, 3 Treasury per citizen after 15 years. Granary and Storehouse Worker Slots: Adjusted Granary and Storehouse Worker Slots: unified to 3 families for level 1 and 6 families for level 2.
Minor Fixes
Trade and Market Adjustments
Mindfulness System: Applied the "mindfulness" system to free merchants to reduce clumps and traffic jams. Trade Location: Moved the location of trades further off the map to ensure space for all trade wagons, even if the trading post is placed on the map edge. Trader Transactions: Allowed traders to make transactions without entering the shed if the trading post is clogged, as long as they are within the general building bounds. Marketplace Logistics: Improved marketplace logistics efficiency and optimization. Market Supply Reset: Reset market supply on loading old saves (from builds 0.7.954-0.7.956) due to mismatched global market supply stock values. Market Stall Workers: Capped the number of workers supplying a single market stall to 2 to reduce market clogs with the increased market supply frequency. The number of stalls is now reduced back to the number of families divided by 5, with a minimum of 1 to ensure functionality in towns with fewer than 5 families. Market Supply Optimization: Further optimized market supply functions for smoother late-game town performance. Trading Post Thumbnail: Added the missing trading post building thumbnail. Trading Post Price Range: Trading posts now display a price range for imports, indicating whether they can buy from other regions or foreign trade sources.
Optimization and Performance
Default AA: Changed default AA under DX11 to TAA. Spatialization Update: Added a spatialization update call for recruits teleported home when rallied to ensure proper collision calculations. Follow Mode Optimization: Updated "is close to camera" value in follow mode to prevent optimization of animations or sound effects for characters near the camera. Firefighting Behavior: Made firefighting villagers ignore anti-clogging behavior at narrow pathfinding points. Pathfinding Updates: Minor unit in-town pathfinding updates. Destructible System: Swapped the old UE4 destructible system for a new UE5-friendly chaos-based debris system currently used for chopped firewood cutter logs. AA/Upscaler Selection: Tweaked default AA/upscaler selection during first-time launch for specific GPUs (e.g., RTX properly defaulting to DLSS). Pathfinding Thread: Added another pathfinding thread for handling multiple end-game cities. Harvest Prediction Optimization: Optimized harvest prediction and fertility changes to reduce stutter. Log Display: Limited the log display to store only the last 100 entries to improve UI optimization. Idle Task Optimization: Optimized the function for finding friends to do idle tasks like conversations. Door Opening Animations: Optimized door opening animations.
User Interface and Accessibility
Mourning Period UI: The residential panel now has a "mourning period left" UI element that displays the number of days of mourning until the burgage plot can bring in more family members. Mourning Icon: Added mourning icon to the building floater. Save Restrictions: Disabled the ability to quick save during the game ovevictory cinematic. Disabled manual save after being defeated and added a tooltip explaining why saves are disabled. Disabled quick save and autosave if the game was lost. King's Tax Rate Multiplier: Added king's tax rate multiplier to the game setup settings. Victory Camera: After continuing the game after a victory, the camera returns to the player's main region instead of levitating over the map edge. Currency Icon: Unified the currency icon in the mercenary company panel to clarify payment with the treasury, not regional wealth. Accommodation for Homeless: Added an accommodation call for homeless people after a fire, ensuring they are quickly re-assigned to available burgage plots. Family List UI: Aligned "workplace/reassign" buttons vertically in the family list due to most families having more than one member. Font Fix: Fixed old fonts being used in the family entry widgets. Fertility Overlay: Made fertility overlay colors and colorblind symbols more accurate with the percentages displayed in the field's building panel. Building Panel UI: Tweaked building panel header buttons/toggles to improve readability and distinguish buttons from toggles. Market Stalls: Set "Allow market stalls" to ON by default for all workplaces and artisan workshops to aid new players in setting up stalls without confusion. Popup Queue: To avoid popups like "royal tax increase" from interrupting visit mode, they are now queued and triggered after the player returns from visit mode, after around 1-2 seconds. Transaction Popup: When trading between regions, the transaction popup will now display over both trade buildings, depending on which is closer to the camera. Region Borders: Region borders will show under the cursor even if the camera is low, clarifying where region territory ends. Region Calculation for UI: Tuned how "current region" is calculated for the UI to make it more comfortable to build on the edge between two player-owned regions.
Crash Fixes
Fixed a crash when doing a sequence of livestock import, export, and import because "home" wasn't cleared properly during export, and the same animal was reimported. Fixed a rare crash if a handcart fails to spawn, likely if the trading post was built so that part of it crosses the map edge. Fixed crash on startup if OpenXr SDK is installed. Fixed a crash when deleting a building if there are pathfinding obstacles being verified (for instance, soon after loading a game). Fixed the player being able to reassign a family to another Region, which could crash the game. Bug Fixes
Gameplay Mechanics
Fixed victory status not resetting after starting a new game, leading to a game over screen not appearing if the player lost/won multiple games without turning the game off. Fixed crops dying in the winter instead of actually increasing yield by absorbing nutrients from the snow as intended for winter crops. Fixed oxen sometimes "ghost plowing" a field when they are waiting for their guide. Fixed plow and ox sometimes misaligned on 12x game speed. Fixed farm workers not accounting for oxen plowing the farms in some situations, leading to a lot of unnecessary collisions on the field. Fixed crop rotation unplowing the fields. Fixed disbanded mercenary group becoming immediately available again after save/load cycle. Fixed the trading post export transactions not moving regional wealth between the regions correctly if owned by the same lord. Fixed paused taverns fulfilling the entertainment requirement. Fixed attempt for never-ending fires if a fire was triggered after the building was already on fire. Fixed livestock sometimes being unaccommodated after order even though there is stable or pasture space due to being transferred to the region twice (once when buying and once when livestock merchant brings it to the building). Fixed livestock traders traded between on-map regions, possibly sometimes paying twice because the ownership changing function was called both on pickup of livestock and on dropoff. Fixed the game getting stuck on the game summary screen infinitely after winning or losing the game. Fixed "none" people populating the town after a raid sometimes who just stand around waiting forever and possibly crash the game while reloading. Fixed the employed traders going to trade points even though the trade route for the traded good is not opened yet. Fixed the farm workers moving to transport tasks early even though there is still plenty of crops to harvest. Fixed predicted yield not showing correctly in the field building panel. Fixed people not resetting rotation after dismounting. Fixed farming oxen not respecting work area limits. Fixed bandit camps respawning on loading because "lastBanditCampSpawnedDay" didn't save properly. Fixed villagers not setting up market stalls to sell their home produce like vegetables if they are unassigned. Fixed granary workers stealing ale from the tavern. Fixed livestock exports getting interrupted by sheep herd behavior. Fixed livestock trader job not triggering an import task when buying livestock from another region.
Visual and Interface Fixes
Fixed the blurry desktop icon. Fixed the save/load menu header not translating after changing the language. Fixed the front lighting not being visible in the retinue editor if bounced light approximation is turned to low or off. Fixed floating feedback text spawning during the cinematic mode. Fixed autosave triggering during the cinematic mode. Fixed the gilded aventail hounskull helmet appearing blurry in the retinue editor. Fixed the forest mask not drawing. Fixed the wrong yarn basket carrying animation. Fixed the wrong apple basket carry animation.
Economic and Resource Management
Fixed "storage full" triggering for wrong buildings sometimes (for example, sawpit having 1/1 logs). Fixed attempt for oxen bringing too many logs to the sawpit and crossing the storage limit. Fixed free merchants sometimes got stuck if a trading post was built so close to the edge that a portion of it was outside of any region bounds. Fixed horse wagon rotations getting a bit too wonky on slopes. Fixed a bug where a unit could no longer move due to being forever stuck in "waiting for pathfinding to finish" if another unit with a lower squadID got completely destroyed. Fixed traders not importing from on-map regions even though the price is better than buying from trade points. Fixed farm workers & farm oxen stealing planks from fields which are getting "fenced up." Fixed "homeless" problem banner not disappearing after upgrading homeless camp to a worker camp. Fixed animals not getting removed from stable space / pasture space after death. Fixed animal corpses not disappearing over time. Fixed a dirty fix for families moving into homes but not registering correctly and not displaying in the UI, leading to a "secret" family living in one of the burgage plots. The reason is still unknown and being investigated. Fixed wealth getting transferred when doing barter. Fixed bartering traders always return 1 item regardless of the barter value and carrying capacity. Fixed bartering traders packing too much stuff in their origin region when barter value is more than 1x. Fixed trading post exports not proceeding with transactions once the trader reaches the destination. Fixed multiple markets sometimes distributing multiple instances of the same good type to a plot, for instance, a single plot would "eat" 2 leather, leaving houses on the outskirts forever undersupplied. Fixed crop rotation to fallow causing farmers to harvest itemID_0, which was invisible in the UI and stopped supply dumps from being cleared because they were never considered as fully empty. Fixed farmers getting stuck in pickup-putdown handcart loop when multiple farms are used. Fixed unnecessary harvest data recalculations triggering in the winters. Fixed a bug with trading between regions where during selling items the wrong region would pay for the transaction. Fixed free merchants not applying the foreign import tariff when selling their goods to trading posts if another region was exporting the traded good for a lower price. Fixed trade wagons sometimes traveling with empty inventory. Fixed traders doing "major trades" even without an established trade route. Fixed workers ignoring storage filter settings. Fixed the "current year" always incrementing in January, regardless of the month the game was started in, also leading to the tax being calculated inconsistently [fix for new saves only]. Fixed market supply percentages not displaying correctly because it still accounted for uninhabited homes. Fixed a bug with workers not setting up market stalls if there are less than 5 families in the settlement. Fixed squad icons disappearing/flickering when disbanding certain squads. Fixed export price showing even though trade is locked because there's no trade route established and no interregional trade available. Fixed foreign market supply incrementing instead of decrementing when off-map trade was being done by trading post workers. Fixed disband/remove squad sometimes affecting wrong squads if multiple squads are selected when pressing "disband" or "remove". Fixed "Not enough funds for import" warning displaying even though there is enough. Fixed apiaries leaving invisible items in supply dumps after demolition.
Cosmetics Updates and Fixes
New Additions and Visual Upgrades
Added a new patron saint banner graphics: St Maurice. Added a carried dead body visualization. New upgraded retinue helmet variation: Pointy bascinet. New upgraded retinue body variation: Coat of plates. New upgraded retinue helmet variation: Hounskull bascinet with a gilded cover. New militia helmet variation - banded bascinet with a mail aventail. Reworked LV2 granary model with proper animated doors. Added new 6 "short" attack animations to reduce animation repetitiveness during combat. Added new "inch forward" battle locomotion animations which should greatly reduce the weird "wiggling" effect when groups push each other. Lady visit mode: If you pick the green lady portrait, the visit mode character should now be female.
Animation and Model Adjustments
Combat animation clean up. Made debris piles align to ground slope. Fixed the throw torch animation ending abruptly. Increased location precision for animals standing in the stables. Fixed the praying animation. Adjusted the two-handed weapon default idle pose to give it a more natural stance. Improved the precision for snapping terraforming meshes (like mines or sawpits) to ground. Made leaf clumps smaller and disabled the parallax mapping since it caused distortions and wasn't very visible anyway. Tuned field dirt UV wiggle to make those huge vegetable gardens players were making less wavy.
Fixes and Adjustments
Fixed the armor clipping through the leg of the upgraded retinue puffy sleeve upon body variation. Fixed some mail armor variants clipping with helmets on T3 militia units (militia mail will get their own unique variations soon). Fixed the wrong door orientation for LV2 cottage variation B (with a planked gable). Fixed the TAB building floater residential data not showing in 0.7.969. Fixed a potential bug when a family assigned to a smithy is unassigned while a family member is rallied, and the function that unequips their smithing aprons may, by mistake, unequip their body armor oand helmet. Fixed player army UI not getting updated after squad array changes because of non-player commanded units getting removed. Fixed recruit distribution sometimes assigning new militia recruits to an invalid unit

2024.05.31 22:02 becausehippo Some limericks

There was a young lady named Bright
Who travelled much faster than light.
She set out one day
In a relative way
And came back the previous night

There was a young lady named Sally
Who enjoyed the occasional dally
She sat on the lap
Of a well-endowed chap
And said, "Sir, you’re right up my alley"

A mosquito was heard to exclaim
"A chemist has poisoned my brain!
The cause of my sorrow
Is paradichloro
diphenyltrichloroethane"

A plucky young man from Bombay
Took a slow boat to China one day
He got trapped in the tiller
With a sex-mad gorilla
And China's a very long way

As I sat with the duchess at tea
She remarked, "Do you fart when you pee?"
I replied with some wit
"Do you burp when you shit?"
And felt it was one up to me

There once was a man from Kent
Whose tool was so long that it bent
To save her some trouble
He folded it double
And instead of coming, he went

There once was a man from Darjeeling
Who boarded a bus bound for Ealing
He saw on the door,
"Don't spit on the floor!"
So he stood up and spat on the ceiling

There was a young man from Belfast
Whose balls were made out of brass
And in bad weather
They clanged together
And sparks flew out of his arse

There once was a man from Bel-Air
Who was fucking a girl on the stair
The banister broke
So he quickened his stroke
And finished her off in the air

There was a young cricketer from Neath
Who whilst batting got hit in the teeth
He spat out a molar
And said to the bowler:
“A little more care if you pleath!

On the breast of a barmaid from Sale
Was tattooed the price of house ale
And on her behind
For the sake of the blind
Was the same information in Braille

There was a young man from Peru
Whose limericks stopped at line two

2024.05.31 20:19 Death_Viper-Danny666 Does any one else here have the same fears of leaving they house?

I have this irrational fear of going to unknown places, places that are far away from my house or in general leaving my house. I'm being most of the time paranoid, for some reason even when traveling by car I have this massive fear of the car breaking down and being stranded. I also stopped enjoying going out this much because I have lots of ''Bad neighbors'' and by ''neighbors'' I mean people from other towns. I live on a small town on a hill with a population of 700 people or soo. Next to me are 3 towns, 2 small villages, one bigger city. In one of the villages people are really crazy, they're mostly in my opinion trouble makers, and try to make fun of you or otherwise make your life miserable. Really shitty people. Mostly bullied my in my school years. The bigger city is okey, thou with time, more and more kids grownup to be criminals and junkies/alcoholics... I don't really feel safe there at night or to walk alone. Ale old toxic group of friends who basically make my an alcoholic like them with no regards to the fact that I take meds. Don't really want to meat them as they make invites to parties and also write to me after I just say ''hi'' (I told them to leave me alone) Soo that leaves my little town and the third one which is really of the main road, really long road, and does not even have anything in it to go there... I guess a bigger shop with more things to chose but the fastest way to it is through a 6 km walk through the forest forth and back. In my country it's illegal to attempt to make a drivers license with schizo... soo I guess I'm double fucked. I try to make small trips through my little town, at least to the shop and back, but I don't really leave it, because of the paranoid fears and people who once new me and abused me... Through the weak I only leave my town with my fioncee or mother to go shopping in the Super Market or to go to the doctor. That's like 1-2 times in a weak, maybe tottalling to 5 times in the month. I really feel bad for my fioncee as I can't take her nowhere, can't really do things together. She understands my condition and dose not push me to leave the house and sometimes I even go to drive with here but it's very rarely and I don't really feel good doing this. I feel very bad for her sometimes and feel guilty that she has a boring life because of my illness. Any one else got those symptoms? If so, how do you deal with them or make them slightly better?

2024.05.31 19:33 Top_Flan7017 [QCrit] Horror, ROOMS OF THE HOUSE (70k) 5th Attempt

Hi all! Thank you in advance for any and all feedback. You guys were really helpful with my previous drafts and I appreciate the time and effort. For this draft I tried to tighten up the comps, cut the exposition and make the body a little more concise and punchier. Let me know if it's still too dry.
Dear [Agent's Name],
I am seeking representation for my horror novel, ROOMS OF THE HOUSE, complete at 70,000 words. This character-driven gothic horror blends elements of psychological and supernatural suspense, perfect for fans of Carissa Orlando's "The September House" and Paul Tremblay's "A Head Full of Ghosts."
The story weaves together two narratives across time. In the present, David Tambor, a once-promising gallery photographer now struggling in the wedding circuit, moves into the historic Pontellier House, hoping to rebuild his life and career after his wife Mary's tragic death. Choosing the house for its attached photography studio, David discovers a strange stash of camera film that appears to capture images of Mary as if she were still alive. Obsessed with reuniting with her, he turns to an occult ritual found amongst the mysterious film, unknowingly unleashing a sinister force in his pursuit to resurrect his lost wife.
A century earlier, John Pontellier, a troubled WWI veteran and photographer, grapples with a similar obsession to reconnect with his lost love in the same house. As John delves into the occult, his actions set in motion a cycle of horror that will haunt the Pontellier House for generations.
As David's investigation into the house's history deepens and John's story reaches its terrifying climax, their narratives intertwine, revealing the shocking truth about the Pontellier House and the cyclical nature of its horrors. With the help of his assistant Olivia, David must confront the malevolent entity wearing his wife's face and escape the house's grasp before it claims his life and the lives of those around him.

2024.05.31 16:19 EvulRabbit Waterford house layout

Just restarted the series and just like the first time. The house confuses me.
Why does June's room go down a handful of steps only to go back up a handful of steps?
Same with the room Serena was clearing out for the baby.
Why so many weird half levels?!
I could only find the bottom floor floorplan on Google.

Does anyone know why so many businesses are closing on las olas Blvd and downtown? it seems like most of the spaces are going vacant. Recent closures are Cuba libre, Arabian nights, Guy Harvey, many boutiques, matchbox, Asburry ale house, and countless other ones all at the same time?

2024.05.31 13:28 Matt_HoodedHorse [Patch Notes] Manor Lords Update 0.7.972

Howdy Folks,
I come bearing good news!
We're excited to announce the release of a new patch for Manor Lords, version 0.7.972. This patch is for all versions of Manor Lords: Steam, GamePass, Epic Game Store, and GOG.
Saves: We recommend you begin a new save to enjoy all the fixes and changes.
Mods: Please remove any mods you have before beginning a new save to ensure you can play without interference from an outdated mod.
Beta Users: If you have participated in the beta, remember to turn "betas" to "none" to access it.
To discuss this build, please join the official Discord server https://discord.gg/manorlords. You'll find a channel for discussing the ongoing pre_release branch.
Here is a link to Slavic Magic's Steam post for the update.
Full Changelog 0.7.972 Major Changes The King's Tax (or Annual Royal Tax, name undecided): No tax for the first 5 years, 1 Treasury per citizen after 5 years, 2 Treasury per citizen after 10 years, 3 Treasury per citizen after 15 years. In theory, it should slightly punish bad workplace optimization and make hoarding huge amounts of cash more difficult.
Currently, players can incur debt without consequence. In the future, failure to pay will result in losing the king's favor and eventually facing the king's army as enemies.
Global/Local Trade Switch for Trading Posts: Players can now switch trade to "local only" in the trading post for each type of good, allowing them to exchange goods between their own regions while ignoring free merchants.
Gameplay & Balance Resource Management & Agricultural Adjustments
Economic & Trade Developments
Quality of Life & Infrastructure
Minor Fixes Trade and Market Adjustments
Optimization and Performance
User Interface and Accessibility
Crash Fixes
Bug Fixes Gameplay Mechanics
Visual and Interface Fixes
Economic and Resource Management
Cosmetics Updates and Fixes New Additions and Visual Upgrades
Animation and Model Adjustments
Fixes and Adjustments
Thank you for all of your continued feedback and reports through the beta patches. I hope you enjoy the update! Please share your thoughts and feedback on Manor Lords in a Steam review if you have a moment. It helps a lot!
Thank you for playing!

2024.05.31 12:21 ookb Thoughts on itinerary?

First trip to Ireland and this is the plan. I would appreciate any feedback on the itinerary and suggestions on things to do. We'll have a car rental (not in Dublin) and don't want to be rushed or spend all our time in the car. For this reason, we're sticking to the southeast and spending multiple nights in most places. We're not doing what appears to be the most common route with Dingle, Cliffs, Galway, Giants Causeway, etc. as it seemed too ambitious (and rushed) to try to fit all that in. Maybe another time.
Dublin - 2 nights (Kilmainham Gaol, EPIC, Newgrange tour) Wicklow - 2 nights (Glendalough, Wicklow Gaol, Black Castle, Powerscourt) Wexford - 2 nights (Dunbrody Famine Ship, Kennedy Homestead, Johnstown Castle) Waterford - 4 nights (Waterford Crystal, Mount Congreve, Reginald's Tower, Curraghmore House) Cork - 3 nights (Kinsale, Cobh, Spike Island, Charles Fort, James Fort, Titanic Experience, Rock of Cashel) Kilkenny - 2 nights (Kilkenny Castle, Jerpoint Abbey, Medieval Mile Museum) Dublin - 1 night close to airport

2024.05.31 12:19 SickusBickus I think my wife's boyfriend gave me COVID at our Trump conviction party last night!!

Last night, for the first time in years, I lowered my guard and allowed myself to come within six feet of another human being. I'm deeply ashamed of myself but can you blame me? We FINALLY got him last night. That evil, NASTY man is going to jail and Our Democracy is one step closer to safety. I had to celebrate. As soon as I heard the news about Trump being found guilty on all counts I violently jizzed my pants and cried tears of soy. I pinched my nip-scars to check if I was having the same old dream again. Nope, the searing pain told me this was for real.
With trembling, spooge-soaked hands, I took to Twitter and pecked out a message to all 12 of my followers. "Justice has been served. Party at my house! N95s and proof of vaccination and negative COVID tests required."
Within seconds of sending the message, a horde of masked folx were queued up patiently at my door. Robert DeNiro, looking dapper in a pair of moon shoes, towered over the crowd on a pair of teetering stilts. "We got him, kid. We got him. We got him. We got him." DeNiro cried out from behind his N95, reaching out towards me for a hug, his mole glistening with tears. I couldn't heckin' believe it. As I scurried about in a panic making Paxlovid laced hotty-hotty choc-chocs for everyone, my wife scanned each person's vaccine passport at the door. Upon entering, Mark Hamill collapsed to his knees and applauded the Heavens like a Star Wars fan at the opening night of Phantom Menace.
Soon enough the house was packed with a diverse and vibrant smorgasbord of folx - actors, members of Antifa and BLM, even some Feds. As I imbibed some disgusting ale I pretend to like through my sip-valve, Stephen King announced to the room that he and Rob Reiner were working on a film adaptation of his new Twitter novella "Bloodbath", and that everyone present was welcome to be an extra. As the film was about January 6th, some folx had to politely decline as they had already appeared at the real thing.
I didn't think things could get any better but all of a sudden THE GREATEST PRESIDENT WHO EVER LIVED JOE MOTHERFUCKIN' BIDEN crashed through the roof of my house on his invisible jetpack!! His entire staff arrived hours after him, completely out of breath after failing to keep up with him. Joe whizzed around the room, dropping ice creams and sage wisdom from every orifice. His bulging muscles, catlike reflexes and youthful vigour were a sight to behold. "I guess this will be the first Presidential debate to be held within a prison, huh, folx?" Joe bellowed with nary a stutter or pause. The entire room erupted into muffled laughter. I guffawed so hard I blew my N95 clean off my face.
That's when my wife's boyfriend Fent A'nyl decided to bear hug me. Due to him being the only unvaccinated person at the party (don't blame him, blame the American education system and systemic racism), I know for a fact that he gave me COVID. My throat and arse were red raw when I woke up today, and sure enough, I've tested positive. Needless to say, this has taken the wind right out of my sails. I just hope I didn't give COVID to Biden when he was railing my mouth and arse last night!!

2024.05.31 05:15 FlatSwing9745 Haters Guide to the NBA Finals 2024

Disclaimer: If Tree does a video on this soon, I'm taking this post down.
If I were to describe this playoffs, chaos in the beginning but a raw unsatisfying ending. That about sums it up. Let’s meet the fallen soldiers.

Miami Heat
“WE WANT BOSTON!”
Oh, you wanted Boston? Well, you’ve got Boston. Let’s face it. Your season ended when Emo Jimmy succumbed to injury in the play-ins. It would be better advice to lay down and die to the Bulls, but you, however, chose the slow and painful death via the Celtics. Hell, I commend that you even stole a game from them. This only pissed off Boston more and proceeded to mutilate you Scarface style. Moral of the story, always close an offseason deal when you have it at the palm of your hands.
Philadelphia Sixers
Let the 2-7 seeding do not deceive you. The Sixers were, on paper, the better team… that is if Embiid were to ever get healthy. Even then he was an iron man in this series. But this series would not be competitive without another man that sends shivers down New York… Tyrese Maxey. His heroics in Game 5, look no further. But the Sixers lack one crucial thing… chemistry. Philadelphia’s chemistry left on a one-way ticket to New York. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, the Nova Boys showed up. Brunson putting up numbers we haven’t seen in the playoffs since MJ. Even with the Knicks shorthanded most of the time, they persevered. Another year of trusting the process and failing miserably. At least you don’t have Tobias Harris anymore.
*TobiasHarris.exe stopped working*
Seriously, no fucking points in an elimination Game 6?
Milwaukee Bucks
Speaking of the process, the Bucks and the Wisconsinites are getting a real taste of it. Doc Rivers never left his choking roots. How many times are we going to see a Big 3 squad ending in laughable failure? The series was undone by one man. Giannis. Out for the rest of the season for a calf strain. But we’re not done amplifying the pain. Tyrese Haliburton, the star player for the Pacers, didn’t even play like himself. You just got owned by Pascal Siakam, Myles Turner, and Obi Toppin. How do you stoop so low even with Dame Time and Khris Middleton on your team? Miami is snickering in the background, by the way.
Orlando Magic
The future is bright for Orlando. They’ve shown that they could be something with this young talent. Paolo Banchero especially. It unfortunately had to end in heartbreaking fashion. Getting routed in Game 7 in Cleveland. Happens to the best. Especially when you go up against a balanced team like Cleveland.
New Orleans Pelicans
Saw this a mile away. In a recurring theme of star players being injured before the playoffs, Zion Williamson is out. With the Thunder still having SGA, they didn’t even try. Enjoy the sweep.
Los Angeles Lakers
LeBron has to face his demons once more: beating a team that has a younger European center. It was the defending champion again. For those of you calling LeBron washed, you may be right. On one hand, 30 points a game is exceptional for his age. On the other hand, he would get outplayed most of the time by his own teammate, Anthony Davis. With Jokic and Murray in their prime, it wasn’t even close. At least you didn’t get swept this time. Oh, by the way Lakers, if you don’t get Bronny in the draft, LeBron is likely going to leave. No pressure.
Phoenix Suns
You really are fucking pathetic. You had a healthy Big 3: Durant, Beal, and Booker. You have all this talent and you end up sniffing your own rear ends. You got SWEPT! By another pathetic franchise in the TIMBERWOLVES! That team hasn’t made it out of the first round in 20 YEARS! Why do you do this to Durant? First wasting away multiple years in Brooklyn and now sweltering under this heat? This bonafide pyramid scheme deserves Lolcow this playoffs. And because the Suns are impulsive in management, Frank Vogel was sacked after just one year. Now they try and roll the dice with Mike Budenholzer, who won the NBA Finals with the Bucks. How ironic.
Los Angeles Clippers
Congratulations, Clippers! You’re team STILL can’t make it past the first round! And it might’ve been your last shot to have a meaningful run. When you have James fucking Harden the best player out of your underwhelming performers, you know you’re in deep shit. It turns out that to take out a fully competent Harden, you need to nerf him with a former teammate of his in Kyrie Irving. And the less said about Doncic, the better. Game 5 was when you lost the series. It was a massacre in what will be the last game at Crypto.com Arena. Say goodbye to Paul George while you’re at it.
Cleveland Cavaliers
“WE WANT BOSTON”
Goddamnit, not you too, Cleveland! Alright, you want Boston? Here’s a heap of it. This time there are no excuses for it. You were fully healthy. It instead had to come to star power. Minus the P(orz)ingas injury, Boston still had Brown and Tatum to flaunt all over you. The Cavs only have Donovan Mitchell. Maybe Caris LeVert or Evan Mobley if they’re feeling like it. Darius Garland did nothing in this series. Glad you got one win out of it, but that only does so much for morale, not results.
New York Knicks
Let’s face it. The Knicks were destined to lose in the ECF with Julius Randle out due to injury. The same goes to Mitchell Robinson, and Bogdan, and OG Anunoby (for some games). But despite this, the Knicks kept their own. They are going toe to toe with a tough and deep Pacers squad, but they are only one win away from reaching their final destination. Game 6 awaits.
“WE WANT BOSTON!”
Wait? Why are they chanting for Boston NOW? They haven’t won the series yet! Oh dear god.
*colored bars*
Turns out Boston CAN possess other teams to do their bidding. Haliburton, Nembhart, and TJ McConnell would wake up Game 6. In Game 7 at MSG, it was an absolute bloodbath. The vaunted defense the Knicks had all year could not stop a leaky pipe. The injuries came back and haunted them and they had to rely on Alec Burks for offensive production. This series showed me something. The Knicks can’t get to the Finals, let alone the ECF, even when healthy, without a major headliner. This offseason is critical.
“RING THE BELL BABY! DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!”
OKC Thunder
It has been a magical year for the Thunder with them unleashing the full potential of SGA and developing Chet Holmgren. For division champs, you showed and proved a lot. However, there were missed opportunities that ultimately cost you the series with the Mavs. In Game 3, you led at the half. You proceeded to allow 16 unanswered points and give PJ Washington his best playoff showing. Elimination Game 6 was even worse. You took the lead with an alley-oop. All you need is to deny them a last shot to force Game 7. You proceed to… foul them on a three-point shot?! How stupid was that, SGA? I normally don’t blame any player for a loss, but that move was absolutely careless! The Mavs would win by one point. It’s only a matter of time before SGA escapes this hell hole. Like Durant before him.
Denver Nuggets
It was rather nice for the Nuggets to win a championship for once. Now back to their choking ways. The fact alone that Minnesota made this a series is baffling. It had to go to 7 games. In Game 7, Jamal Murray had himself a career game. But its not how you start that is most important, its how you finish. Anthony Edwards shuts off the Nuggets defense and pushes the lead to 10 with a handful of minutes left. It was enough to keep the game out of reach. Back on the ride you go, Nuggets. You probably will not get out in the next 50 years.
Indiana Pacers
“WE WANT BOSTON”
God, WHY DON’T FANS RESPECT THEIR OPPONENT FOR ONCE?! GOD FUCKING DAMMIT! Let’s do this again. Pacers, you wanted Boston? YOU GOT IT. And honestly, I don’t fucking care at this point. I wanted both teams to lose. And yes it comes in the territory as a Knicks fan. But the Pacers didn’t even attempt to play these games. Coupled with Haliburton being sacrificed for Pat McAfee’s sins, and you get a beatdown of epic proportions. They got swept. Not only that, three out of the four games they choked in the final minutes of the game. How do they even manage that? Oh right, Boston with their “Bostoning”. The Pacers were nowhere near ready for the spotlight and it showed. Nice job overall from Rick Carlisle but three chokes in a sweep is absolutely brutal.
Minnesota Timberwolves
What a season it had been for the Timberwolves. This team was nowhere near projected to finish this high, even with the veteran presence of Rudy Gobert and KAT. But there was a missing piece that had unlocked this team: Anthony Edwards, the former #1 pick. They were calling him the next Jordan, he was so good in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Wolves must meet their long overdue maker. What could go wrong in a series did go wrong. In Game 1, Antman and KAT ran out of gas and the Mavs would win by one point. Copy-paste the script and add a dagger three from Doncic for Game 2. In Game 3, Antman found rhythm again, but so did Doncic and Irving, as well as Daniel Gafford. Mavs were playing with house money in Game 4, which sets up Game 5. When you have Luka Doncic outscoring the entire team in the 1st quarter, what chance will you have? That is about as thorough as an ass spanking I’ve seen in the Western Conference. The Wolves may be back here again, maybe not, but they better not put up with this in the future.
*colored bars*
Let’s not waste any time here. Who are our two finalists this year?

Mavericks vs Celtics
*buzzer**You’re fucked!”
Mavs vs Celtics. Oh dear God. This is a different kind of fucked than most seasons. For one, the Celtics have been the best team all year. They had their core of Brown and Tatum for a while now and the last time they won it all was 2008. I should say its overdue, but it’s the Celtics. On the other hand, you have the Mavericks, who have Luka Doncic, another long overdue player to get his ring. But the thing about them is that they also have Kyrie Irving. Yes, the same Kyrie Irving that spent multiple years in Boston. And the same cancer that caused the Nets super team to explode. Would you be surprised that Irving is back in his form again? The Mavericks have been to the NBA Finals in 2006 and won it in 2011, more recently than Boston. The champions this year will either go to basketball’s Evil Empire or Irving. God its like choosing Hitler or Stalin to win. But to keep it reasonable, Celtics in 5. Fuck this season.
"WE WANT BOSTON!"
Fuck this season TILL ITS BACKWARDS!
