Is it just me or does it feel completly Random who gets Access to PvE as a EOD Owner? A friend of mine just got PvE Access today, he has less Hours then me, he bought EoD way later then i did (i bought it in Jan 2017 and he in 2020), we life in the same City (so it cant be Region based) and even the starting letter of his Username and Account E-Mail is behind mine in the Alphabet.
So is it rly completly random or what was your experience or did u saw a pattern in Access so far?

I am personally a fan of rock and metal music who still listens to pop and other genres sometimes. I also like following Eurovision and a criticism I see about the contest is that it is a "generic pop contest" or that it only rewards "generic pop". I don't agree with this because there are lots of countries every year who send rock, folk, hip hop, a fusion of different genres, etc. I know rock and metal artists who attend the contest do tend to change their sound to be more radio friendly but still.
I also think it's unfair to classify all pop entries as "generic", the ones who are actually generic tend to not make it to the final and a lot of pop entries have something original going on. Also no offense to fans of generic pop, you like what you like, it's harmless, I'm just saying the term does not describe most songs on ESC

Bonjour à tous, ça fait quelques années que je suis à la recherche de cette chanson que j'écoutais dans les années 2010/11 il me semble.
Je l'écoutais sur Deezer. Je suis incapable de me souvenir du nom du groupe, mais je suis presque sûr que le nom de la chanson c'était Acapulco.
Le style était un genre de punk rock français, un mélange entre Les Garçons Bouchers et les Beruriers Noirs. Le chanteur était de type masculin.
Niveau parole j'ai quelques bribes du refrain, trÚs énergique qui faisait quelque chose comme ça : "A Acapulco il fait.... CHAAAAUUU-AUD, à Acapulco il fait BEAUUUU. A Acapulco il fait chaud chaud chaud!"
La plate-forme semble l'avoir retirĂ© il y a un moment, si certains on un souvenir voir mĂȘme le nom du groupe ça serait sympa ! Je trouve ça Ă©trange que aucune de mes recherches Google, Discogs, YouTube n'ont abouti. Il y a une probabilitĂ© non nulle que le nom de la chanson ne sois pas Acapulco mais ça m'Ă©tonnerai.

If mods remove this, that's totally cool. I never post, but this shit's been spinning around in my head and I just didn't know what to do with it.
So I saw people analyzing the frame by frame "so figure it out" meme (I don't even know anymore which meme it's from but i was going by this screenshot...

Anyway, I found a pattern a few hours ago, but still have not been able to come up with what it means!! And I think it's too cohencidental to be coincidence. (Maybe it's a gamer thing? Or a computer programmy thing? Or maybe i'm just not seeing it? Or maybe i'm *completely* off base here and my brain is just mush. All of those are entirely possible at this point!)
So the phrase we're working with is clearly "so figure it out"
And like all good puzzles, I started from the end and worked my way backwards.
So the letters that are incorrect fall into this pattern...

The numbers I wrote represent how far from the letter it's supposed to be it actually is. (And yes, for some of them I had to loop around from A to Z) For example, the last frame says "SO FIGURE IT OUV". The incorrect letter is a V and it's supposed to be a T. T is -2 spots away from V in the alphabet.

And so if you notice, all the missing letters follow a pretty steady pattern.
But the only thing I've been able to make of the numbers, is count backwards from the end of the alphabet and assign each letter a -number, and then I remove all duplicate letters/ numbers that show up on the line prior, I'm left with with "U S W M G O T I T Q K ". Which the end part "got it quick" makes sense, but the "swm" is still annoying the shit outta me. (And tbh, I'm hoping there's more to it than that and maybe the numbers mean something else. Because if "you got it quick" is the only goddamn answer to this freakin puzzle I'm gonna slap DFV if I ever happen to see him!!!)
Or maybe I'm completely off base... Who knows! But if this makes sense to you and anyone has any insight that I'm missing, please let me know!
(And if anyone has already solved this, please point me to that post and I'll delete this asap. Thanks!)

Today, I ruined everything. So, I was happy as can be in my genderfluid existence, consuming biographies of trans women and of course “Whipping Girl”, when I realised that I don’t have full autonomy of my wardrobe, body or appearance.
I realised there isn’t an inch of shame in me left to spend on my dreaded “transness” as depicted in the media and in phobic discussions around various dinner tables and coffee shops over the years.
I’ve got this bundle of twine inside me that I call my gender experience; and until this point I would look at it quizzically and think: “hmmm, that’s weird.” I would fall in love with dresses and shoes, and make up and wigs. And I would still go out and enjoy my cis male privilege in the world. Some kind of genderfluid transness in the shadows where it’s safe, but for all intents and purposes a man in the light.
Because for 25 fucking years I was told that MY gender experience was wrong; and it would get me excluded, disadvantaged, discriminated against, maybe killed.
So the dual life I chose; because it felt safe. Not liberated, but liveable at least.
And suddenly it clicked; I wanted to shed my male privilege, take off the armour of falseness and start fighting the good fight in a pair of heels. I wanted not to become a man or woman, but a TRANS PERSON. I wanted to become a raging pink flame in the darkness of patriarchal oppression that the younglings could see and say “look, there’s a fucking way to be who I am.”
I imagined a goddess on HRT, thick booty and thighs, cute lil boobies, a strong jawline, soft skin, the years rolled back. Soft Glam make up every day; whatever fucking combination of grunge, steampunk and cottage core I could dream up. A fearsome picture of genderfucked-ness that says we’re here, we exist and there’s space for every goddamn one of us. A captivating, bold beauty that did not hide anywhere, from anyone. Long punk rock hair (with a regrown hairline) and a shaved side; piercings, the perfect winged eyeliner.
A house, a career, a killer car
. Maybe I get to keep my wife too? Maybe we could be A walking middle finger to the patriarchy that wants us gone.
I let slip that I wanted to put HRT on the table as a possibility for the future. I wanted bodily autonomy that would take me away from pure AMAB. And it broke my wife’s heart. She thinks I’m a liar for ever saying it wasn’t part of the plan (I swear to fucking god herself it wasn’t). She’s currently taking space and deciding what she wants to do.
The kindest, most loving person to ever hold space for me, even the possibility of me being pretty, and I broke her goddamn heart.

I keep thinking about my experience in academia (Ph.D. and postdoc), an unsuccessful attempt to escape and how I dug my grave with my own hands.
I keep reading about recent developments in US biotech industry and its has been absolutely disheartening. The job market right now is awful and it has not bottomed out.
I cannot help, but thinking how did I arrive at this point and what could I have done to save myself???
I am speaking here about my experience in life sciences. I hope that the situation is better in other areas, but life sciences are absolutely over-saturated, over-flowing and under-paid area of STEM, probably along with chemistry.
Long time ago, after 1 year into the Ph.D. program, I got a weird feeling. I quietly approached people in the lab, with whom I was on friendly terms and they confirmed my worst expectations. Essentially, the unspoken (and un-communicated!!!) assumption was that after a year or so a Ph.D. student should show to the PI outstanding results, worthy of publication in "Nature", "Science" etc. Obviously, with no help, no guidance, no support. The PI did not want to tarnish his academic CV with publications in low- or medium-impact journals! So, if you could not show a potential for a publication in "Nature" (or similar journal), the PI would simply lose interest in you and "dis-own" you. This meant no support of any kind, no interest in your defense and no recommendation letter. Nothing! I saw this done to several people in our group. The PI tried (in some cases very successfully) to sabotage careers of his subordinates.
Remainder of my Ph.D. was absolute mental torture. I knew that without support of the PI I had not a single chance for academic career. Basically, academic career was dead for me. Every day I experienced a mental torture of senseless work. I knew that it was absolutely pointless to continue my Ph.D. The project was going nowhere. The PI lost all interest. By then I knew very well, how competitive and cutthroat was academia. I could have just sat in my office, collected stipend for another year or more and walked away. There was no point of doing anything. It was like digging a hole in the ground and then filling it back with same soil. Again and again and again! Every day! Coming to the lab, doing senseless work, knowing that it was all meaningless and continue doing it over and over -- just to have something to put in the thesis. This experience crippled me to the point that now I absolutely cannot stand any meaningless work.
I defended my Ph.D. and somehow got a postdoc in a shitty lab. 3 years of my postdoctoral experience could be described by one word: abuse! Constant lies, gaslighting, micromanagement, disrespect, threats, being underpaid, being overworked. I clearly remember that I cried because I did not have a courage to commit suicide.
I tried to seek on-line, on various forums advice on how to get out of this situation. To put it short, I was "trolled" and bullied by academics to the point of mental meltdown.
Recently I tried to find a career coach / mentor. Needless to say, my search was unsuccessful. There is no help out there! Sure, there are people that gladly will take your money in return to sugarcoated fluff. But that's it!
I have been thinking a lot about career coaching / career guidance. You know what? Absence of good advice / a lot of bad advice was, probably, a final "death blow" to my aspirations.
First of all, I did not understand how hiring works and no one explained it to me. It is not that there is a great mystery about hiring, it is that no one ever explained it to me. Secondly, I falsely believed that I could capitalize on Ph.D. itself and a set of so called "transferable skills". Lie! No one hires based on transferrable skills! Transferable skills == soft skills. If you have only transferable skills = soft skills, you can get a job of an admin assistant. Because you need good communication skills and critical thinking when scheduling meetings and taking minutes. But! If you have transferable skills and a Ph.D., you will NOT get a job of admin assistant, because you are "over-qualified".
I always knew that my Ph.D. in molecular biology was completely worthless! Yes, I had to learn every single method and protocol myself, without any help! Yes, I worked 60 hr and 80 hr weeks. But you cannot put this on resume and hope that HR will value it. Even today, years after I completed my Ph.D., I can explain every single methods and every single experiment that I did. Because I did everything on my own, without any help!!! I should be proud of myself, but I actually hate myself -- because I cannot sell it. Because market values "rock-stars", because market values what's trendy and what's in demand!
I was led astray by all this trash advice about "customizing your resume" and "highlighting transferrable skills". I have missed an opportunity of a lifetime!!! 5 or 6 years ago people, who attended coding bootcamps, could actually get a job as a programmer!!! Yes, not too long ago employers were actually scooping people, who completed coding bootcamps!!! That would have been my chance of getting the hell out of academia. I had a gut feeling that my Ph.D. was a complete waste of time, I suspected that I need to write-off Ph.D. as a loss and re-educate myself completely to have a chance! And I have missed an opportunity of a lifetime to learn how to code, to get into bootcamp, to get an entry-level coding job and move on from there. Now there are ongoing layoffs in tech and job market is flooded with junior coders. The gates are closed.
Instead, I wasted my time tinkering / customizing my resume and thinking how to sell "transferrable skills". Wrong, wrong, wrong! I do not think that anything like it will ever come again. When you can teach yourself, when you can get through the bootcamp and get into a field with good pay and career growth!!!
To all people out there: I cannot stress enough, watch out for bad advice!!! Look for a good advice -- its worth it's weight in gold!
