2024.06.01 12:24 SpecialistAd4734 Eye pain every day

Male 24, 5’11, 155 lbs
I have right eye pain every single day, it can vary from being 1/10 dull ache to an annoying 5/10 to a 8/10 pain. The pain usually starts mildly builds up to a 5/10 and goes down again. When I look to the left and blink I feel scratching in my eye. The eye is not red nor swollen. When I sleep or close my eyes the pain goes away completely or at least to a point I don’t notice it. This used to happen in October with every morning a strong pain 8/10 that would last for an hour and completely go away for 20 days. It has since not returned but now this issue is concerning.
I do not have any vision issues, I have floaters but that’s in my left eye and been there for years. I noticed if I massage my eyes a little it can help. But other than that it’s extremely concerning and annoying and depressing. It started a month ago and hasn’t stopped since. But again before it used to happen here and there for a few days..

2024.06.01 12:20 AdBusy9171 X-ray results for Lower back pain/spasms

Hey everyone,
I am hoping someone can help interpret these results from an X-ray I had… little background: I was had back pain occasionally as a young kid (one time from jumping on a trampoline… which I went home trying not to cry it hurt so bad lol…) I was very over weight until my early 20s and lost a hundred pounds and got into super good shape.. was deadlifting 315 pounds etc (I know now it’s terrible for your back to deadlift…. No back pain for a few years… Then my back started hurting occasionally when doing squats/deadlifts…. So I stopped completely, kinda got depressed and stopped working out completely and gained a bunch of weight back (still not as bad as when I was a kid). It’s kinda just kept progressing to the point where it’s super tense when I bend over to the point that affects my everyday life and I worry about bending over… there has been times these last few years where my lower back (maybe my hip not sure) is so bad that I basically just lay on the floor in pity…. I feel like I’m too young to not be able to be active like I would like to be without back pain… I’m in my earlyish 30s and finally had it checked out and here are the results… any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!
EXAMINATION: XR Lumbar Spine 2 or 3 views VIEWS: AP, Lateral, Spot CLINICAL INDICATION: Low back pain, unspecified COMPARISON: None. FINDINGS: 5 non-rib-bearing lumbar type vertebra. Minimal curvature visualized thoracolumbar spine convex to the left. Mild disc space narrowing/osteophyte formation L4-L5, L5-S1. No acute fracture identified. Trace retrolistheses L1- L2,L2-L3 and L4- L5. Sacroiliac joints appear patent. No osteolytic or osteoblastic lesions noted. IMPRESSION: 1. Minimal left curvature visualized thoracolumbar spine. 2. Mild degenerative disc space narrowing L4-L5, L5-S1. 3. Trace retrolistheses L1- L2,L2-L3 and L4-L5.

2024.06.01 12:19 Professional-Pair-99 Weekly time-line of symptoms post-leep (2nd leep)

Hi all
I've had 2 leeps, one for cin 3 in 2018 and another just recently for cin 2.
My leep experience was positive, procedure went smoothly. But the healing experience has been on going longer than I remember from my previous experience.
It has been bad, but I'd like to get an idea of what's 'normal' for others.
Time-line: 1-3 weeks light bleeding, craming, exhausted. 3-4 weeks yellow discharge, mild cramping if I over exert myself. 4-6 weeks yellow discharge, energy is back but still cram when I walk too much (like many city blocks), do a lot of house cleaning, etc.
Usually once the pain comes on, I get winded and super exhausted.
I'm in the middle of the 5th week right now. I'm pretty sure in my case they took more tissue off than previously. I tend to get frustrated that I can't just be normal now after so long. Have not tried to have sex or anything.

2024.06.01 12:17 DrVeigonX .

I'd expect the vast majority of the people who oppose what Israel is doing in Palestine are not loudly chanting at protests.
Again, you're entirely ignoring the point. If something is chanted by thousands, it's either a common belief, or at least one propagated by the leaders of the movement. Just because it doesn't fit with your perspective doesn't mean you can dismiss it.
Then why does the article I linked clearly show leaflets advising civilians to evacuate to the area where the strike occurred?
Did you look at the map? The leaflet very clearly says The Humanitarian Area, which extends into northern Tal As Sultan. The map pretty clearly shows that.
Do you not think it at all suspicious that Israel have a recording of the event that would very clearly exonerate them, and yet have not released it or even claimed that their recording shows this?
Jesus christ my guy, they literally did release the footage. Just because you refuse to look it up doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
They literally did release footage of the strike itself. Footage in which you can see that the aerial map they released is correct, as the buildings surrounding the area in the video are the same as the ones for where they claimed the strike is in the map they released. In the map, btw, you can see that the area of the strike is removed from the tents. All of this is in the articles I linked.
don't think you've quite appreciated the difference between "footage" and "footage that shows X".
Just because you refuse to do any sort of personal deliberation and expect to be handed every piece of information on a spoon doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
We do know it was one of those small munitions, as I already said. Another thing we simultaneously know is that those small munitions could start a fir
And another thing we know is that the area where the strike occoured is removed from the tents. In fact both claimed locations of the strike are removed from the tents; both the IDF's and even Hamas' claims for where the strike occoured show them over 100 meters from where we know the fire started. Why do you drop that piece of information?
The IDF's claimed location is even entirely removed from the tents by an open area, and Hamas' claim has the entirety of the UN facility between the strike and the tents- a UN facility which didn't catch fire. So unless the fire somehow managed to spread across 100 meters of open field, or go around an entire aid distribution facility without anyone noticing, it's pretty safe to say that the bomb didn't start the fire.
Again, all of this is in the articles I linked. Just because you refuse to do any deliberation of your own doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
From where those tents were, sure. That doesn't mean there wasn't flammable material lying around that could have triggered a fire that reached those tents. Fuel, for example.
For 100 meters straight? And around a UN facility- but without it catching fire? And no one thought to mention it anywhere? That's some amazing fuel!
Then why have you decided that it is true, when the footage from those Palestinians does not show a secondary rocket explosion, and when the Israeli footage would show this if it had happened that way?
The footage from the Palestinians only started after the fire. And I'm not claiming it's true, I'm explaining to you why Israel is still investigating the matter, because you claimed that "if they claimed this then they should have all the footage!" When they aren't the ones who made that claim. Just like you and I, they are also investigating the fire.
Also, I brought them up because you were literally just dismissing that information because it came from Israel, even when it literally came from Palestinians.
Not even the Americans trust Israel to deliver aid
I'm sorry but you seem to have an entirely incomplete image of how the aid distribution works in Gaza. No, the Americans do trust Israel to coordinate aid. But that's just that, Israel doesn't deliver the aid, it coordinates it. What does that mean? Israel gathers all the aid donations, loads them unto trucks, and brings those trucks to Kerem Shalom or Erez. From there, the trucks are picked up by the UN and NGOs who then distribute them.
The problem with Gazan aid was distribution, as a lot of aid failed to reach its destination, and Israel refused to get involved in distribution. Israel literally had a backlog of hunderds of trucks which they already vetted, but we're waiting to be picked up by the UN.
The pier was opened because the US believed it would make distribution easier. But what happened after it opened? Did you intentionally leave that piece of information out?
I'll tell you.
70% of it was stolen.
Because the problem wasn't with Israeli coordination, it was with distribution. Those are two different things.
Yes, the conditions the population of Gaza were forced into for the past eight months were indeed extremely bad
Again, are you intentionally ignoring the point or are you just missing it? Yes, the situation of Gazans is dire. You still fail to explain how Rafah having houses for 171k people somehow makes it better for the remaining 1.5 million over a zone specifically designed to house large numbers of displaced people.
A few ideas - instead of bombing absolutely everything, focus attacks on clear military targets.
Thank you man! Why didn't they think of that?
I swear that people with no military experience will act like they're the chief of the Pentagon when it comes to this conflict.
I actually was in the military, so let's set a few things straight. when fighting guerilla warfare, there are no clear military targets. That's literally the definition of urban guerilla warfare. Embedding yourself within the urban environment and within civilians to fight against a stronger enemy. It isn't like there's buildings marked as "HAMAS HEADQUARTERS" that Israel can just attack and leave everyone else alone. Hamas very intentionally and very openly hides themselves within the civilian population and areas, hence why to attack them, you have to remove the civilians from the region via evacuation. That's literally how every urban conflict against a guerilla force in history was done. It was how the US fought against the Taliban in the cities of Afghanistan, it's how Iraqi forces fought against ISIS in Mosul, and its how the coalition fought against ISIS in Raqqa.
In fact, Raqqa and Mosul both saw far more destruction than Gaza did; with Gaza's figures suggesting 70% of the buildings were damaged to some capacity, where in Mosul some estimates go up to 80% or even 90%. When an enemy embeds themselves in a civilian population, there's no easy way of fighting them. Urban guerilla warfare is quite literally the ugliest form of combat.
As you mention the bombs, you seem to be under the impression they are just dropped for funsies. Like, "Oh, I feel like dropping a 2000 lbs bomb today! How about we do that here?"
It shows complete ignorance of military doctoring and combat. 2000 lbs bombs are also known as "bunker busters". Can you guess why? Because their impact is powerful enough to burst through the ground and collapse underground bunkers. Which might be useful when, oh, I don't know, your enemy has 500 Kilometers of tunnels weaving under your feet?
Lastly, you bring up the World Kitchen strike as some sort of Gotcha, but it perfectly encapsulates your cognitive dissonance. You're amplifying one incident over thousands of other successful strikes, and an incident even the head of World Kitchen said was a mistake. A mistake for which two of thw IDF's top generals were fired.
You're not the first person I say this to, and sadly, you won't be the last. But if you have no knowledge of military, don't try to act like you do. It just makes it seem like you're under the dunning Kruger effect.

2024.06.01 12:17 niemteltsuj Long term fasting isn't for everybody, and that's ok.

This may upset some people. In fact I can count on it.
I only wrote this for 1% of you. For the rest, please disregard it.
A Different Game:
I'm not sure if I can explain this. I don't think that I totally understand it myself, but that's ok.
Long term fasting isn't about food, but you already knew that or you wouldn't be attempting a long fast.
This may not pertain to everyone that does a long fast. Maybe it won't pertain to any of them.
You may not know who I am, or of my situation. That's ok. I'm just some guy in a sub-reddit.
For me the battle is more important than the weightloss. Fasting can tear you down right to the core. It can lay you open and expose vulnerabilities that you didn't know you had.
That can be a good thing if you are ready for it. When you've faced something that stripes you down, you only have two ways to go. You either stay broken or you rebuild a new you.
Fasting isn't a team sport. The rebuilding process is a solo journey. You will face family and friends that mean well. You will face people on reddit that have watched a few videos of someone that thinks they know about fasting.
The fact is that after your first long fast, you have experience, they have hearsay.
Repeating what somebody else said about something that very few people have experienced is easy. There are way to many armchair quarterbacks.
For all intents and purposes they are standing on the sidewalk watching the parade go by.
We need to respect those people. They believe what they are saying. They don't mean to drag you down. They just don't understand that the game we are playing is nothing like the game they are playing.
Respecting them doesn't mean letting their opinions effect you. We leave their words to them. We step outside of their world.
We are outside of the box thinkers. We learn by doing, not by reading, watching, or listening.
In short, we cut our own path.
Long term fasting will cause you to question everything about your past, present, and future.
It will make you question yourself to the point that you lose the belief in your fight.
Don't be mistaken. This is war. You will fight battles every day of your fast.
TV commercials, concerned family members, concerned friends, people in the fasting reddit, all of these and more, are all battles. Each battle takes your energy to fight them.
We all have a limit as to how much unintentional abuse that we can take.
Remember, we are playing a different game. We aren't better than them, it's just a different game.
To succeed we close off there words. We smile and nod without telling them they are wrong. Their rules don't apply. Remember, ours is a different game. We need our energy for other challenges, tougher challenges.
Once we're in a long fast our mind will scream at us. It doesn't Remember why it stored the fat. How could it. We don't live in a world where using fat for energy is part of the equation.
We know the truth. Fat is fuel. Combine that fat with electrolytes and vitamins and your body has a built in smorgasbord.
You will face many days where you question whether it is worth it. Days when the scales aren't moving, and you are constantly thinking about your comfort food, can push you close to your limit. If you aren't confident and forward thinking it can break you.
We play a game that is much like chess. Our move is the result of a strategy that we decided on several moves ago. We don't make in the moment decisions. We know the obstacles but we don't care because we set this strategy in motion days before. Today is temporary. It is here and gone in the blink of an eye.
Tomorrow. That's how we win today's battle. Our mind is already in tomorrow. How can we giving in today if we are already in a tomorrow frame of mind.
Our battle is intense. As with chess, sometimes we have to sacrifice a pawn, maybe even a knight. We do this by skipping a family gathering or a superbowl party if they fall within our fasting plan.
I've missed Easter, Thanksgiving, my birthday, my mom's birthday, mother's day, and 4th of july cookouts.
This game requires sacrifice. The weightloss is great. I've lost 240 pounds, but that is irrelevant.
Our true opponent is our mind. Nothing else can matter. In truth, nothing else exists. We stand alone. Alone against family, friends, and armchair experts.
On one fast, I was on day 56. My mind was done. I didn't think I had anything left in the gas tank, but I've faced things in life that totally wiped me out. I knew there is always just a little more left if we reach deep.
I held on. My mind was screaming. I couldn't hear anything but, "give in, it's over"
I dug deep. I went to my room. I just wanted to go to bed. I climbed on my bed. I couldn't climb under the covers. That would take too much external energy. I knelt on my bed. I rocked back and forth for three hours. I was sobbing uncontrollably. My body was shaking from the depth of those sobbs.
I made it. The tears ended. The rocking ended. I collapsed on my bed and slept for hours.
I faced one of the hardest challenges in my 55 years on this planet.
That victory is mine. Nobody can take it from me. Believe it or not several people from this fasting community tried. They told me that I was lying. They said I got lucky because I didn't die. They said I would cause someone to take their last breath.
I didn't care what they said, and I don't care now. The victory is mine. Any time I struggle I look back on that morning. I remember the intensity. I fought so hard, and I won. What challenge can I face in the future that could compare. The answer is, nothing. Nothing I will face can hold a candle to that day.
I've faced some extreme challenges. My girlfriend passed from cancer while laying in the bed beside of me. My mom went to prison when I was little. Our friend was murdered. One of our friends came over after he had been shot. We were robbed at gunpoint. None of that compared.
Even Marine Corps boot camp paled in comparison to that day.
We face intense situations while fasting. This may sound bad but I hope you can experience that. I can't think of anything that could ever take me down. I look back on that day and it empowers me. With that memory I can tackle any opponent.
We play a different game. Don't forget that.
99% of people on here won't get it. Many will condemn and down vote this.
I'll say it again, we play a different game. They won't get it and thats ok.
After you face your demons. After you make it out the other side, there is nothing left to compare.
Our battle may be different but the final outcome is the same.
We win.
After that challenge,
we win because that's all we know.

2024.06.01 12:16 Plastic_Day6948 My story. Thoughts?

Hi all. New here. 51 year old man. Here is my story. Diagnosed with T2D August of 2022. I went on a workout binge and diet and reduced my A1c from 12.5 to 6.8 in about 8-9 weeks. Today my A1c is in the 5’s.
During the first week of November 2022 I developed seering pain, warmth and redness at night (between 6-8pm to 2-4am) in soles of feet and toes bilaterally. Pretty much every time I layed down or elevated my feet in chair. The week of Thanksgiving 2022 was the worst of my life. I spent Thanksgiving day in the basement standing on cement to cool off feet. Walking around seems to alleviate the issue somewhat. Showers were terrible with pain with even warm/cool water. The burning pain was within 20 seconds of hitting the water. Allodynia? This was soles of feet only. Went to neurologist in January 2023 and she stated I developed insulin neuritis aka treatment induced neuropathy (TIND). This is a form of SFN where you lower your A1c too quickly and your body basically goes into shock. During this time (November-January), Suicide was on my mind. Had a nervous breakdown. I’m not sure the SFN part is better. I do know that SFN nerves can regrow very very slowly (1mm per day). I’ve read more papers on TIND and joined several forums on the subject. A lot of people develop this and EM with it. Most seem to get better. Not sure if EM ever went totally away.
I am wondering if my EM is part of this SFN and TIND. I’ve watched Dr. Oaklander’s video on SFN and EM. Definitely seem to be a link between the two.
Around January 2023, the intense burning seemed to taper to just 6-8pm. I can now take hot showers. At night I developed zaps and muscle spasms…this too is part of SFN associated with TIND. Was told will get better. That did.
I don’t get a flare with showers. I do sometimes get a flare when I get hot but those go away pretty quickly compared to the nightly flares. The pain is primarily in tips of toes and sometimes on the top of toes now and sometimes it effects one foot at a time.
I still get hot toes between 6-9pm almost every night. Definitely feels like a circadian rhythm-parasympathetic thing.
I get a stinging pain and redness but not too swollen and I don’t cool feet. There are days, maybe 2-3 in a row where I don’t get any flares. There are days where I only get a flare when I lay down for bed. If I get a flare say at 8pm but I’m not laying down, after it disappears 1-2 hours later, I won’t get a second flare once I lay down. The pain usually lasts 1-2 hours. Not through the night. I sleep with blanket on but no socks. I’m actually afraid to try socks.
I’m thinking this is EM and it’s lingering from my TIND. Not sure if it will ever totally go away. I haven’t gone down the road of genetic testing yet. Not sure I want/need to. It’s definitely not as bad as it once was.
Just wanted to share. My fear is this thing getting worse over time. I think it’s secondary and not primary.
Thoughts?

2024.06.01 12:14 Aggressive_Dot_9216 Coin Factory: Taking a web game to Steam

https://preview.redd.it/k0f0ez8lpx3d1.png?width=460&format=png&auto=webp&s=87b480e089ac10ab4ab442f7261e533d065e826f
Wishlist on Steam Here!
Some months ago I started a journey with a simple goal: To make $1 out of a web game. It has been quite a ride and a lot of lessons were learned. If you are interested in how the idea came up and how it all went on itch.io you can see the first post about it here
Coin Factory started as a web game made in SolidJS with a custom HTML renderer. This made it a bit hard to scale properly to mobile devices as the performance of this type of rendering is not as good.
The game is about placing and combining factories, where space and synergies are the key to maximize the production. Different tiles have different effects and there are plenty of combinations to try out.
My First Factory
Wishlist on Steam Here!
The main pain point has been updating the game to support mobile and desktop layouts, as the Screen space is not enough to keep the UI simple and avoid the need of a lot of text to explain how every tile works.
The web version of the game has been played by 1M players so far and the reception and nice feedback messages has been amazing. But its development is facing a big blocker with the need of maintaining the mobile audience. This is where STEAM comes handy.
The main audience of Steam is Desktop users, which would also mean that the UI can get a bit more complex and more eye candy can be added to the game. On average the game was also being addressed to kids in portals like crazygames and poki.com but in steam the largest people group is of about 20-29 y/o which is perfect for this type of game
Portal inspired Map
I believe that with the game in steam I'll have more time to focus on more complex features like adding more secret tiles or creating more complex custom maps. Most of the people that played were only focusing in the Standard/Sandbox map, which is ideal for first time players but there are also the daily maps and the custom hand-made maps that expose the same game with different and interesting flavors.
Different Coin Factory Levels
Wishlist on Steam Here!
The Steam version of the game will offer a more complete set of tiles and tools, as well as updated UI oriented to desktop users. More maps, more community driven features and more.
You can still play the web version of the game here: https://coinfactory.dk/ and all feedback is really appreciated! I hope you enjoy the game as much as I do!

2024.06.01 12:14 Similar_Set_6582 My account was banned from TV Tropes. Can someone do me a favor?

Just copy this, paste this into a sandbox, then make a thread in the Trope Repair Shop linking to it. The thread shall be titled "Needs Help: Inexplicable Language Fluency".
A wick check for InexplicableLanguageFluency.
'''Why?''': InexplicableLanguageFluency seems to lump in examples of characters demonstrating fluency in a language they've never learned with examples of characters merely understanding a language they never learned. For one, it doesn't make sense for the latter examples to be there since the title has the word "fluency" in it. Secondly, many of the latter examples can be moved to BilingualDialogue or AmplifiedAnimalAptitude.
'''Wicks checked''': 50/72
'''Wick totals''':
* 21/50 wicks, or 11.5%, were clear examples of a character demonstrating fluency in a language they never learned. * 24/50 wicks, or 12% were examples of a character understanding a language without demonstrating fluency. * 4/50 wicks, or 2%, were written in a way that made it unclear whether they were being used correctly. * 1/50 wicks, or 1.5%, was an aversion.

2024.06.01 12:13 AltruisticTeacher114 Vegan Salmon Substitute 🐟💚

Here´s the recipe:
Salmon 🐟 💚:
🔘 300 g tofu (two blocks) 🔘 300 ml cucumber broth 🔘 1-2 tbsp white miso 🔘 2 nori leaves 🔘 2-3 tbsp beet juice (depending on the color you want to achieve) 🔘 2 tbsp soy sauce 🔘 1 tsp onion powder 🔘 1 tsp garlic powder 🔘 1 tbsp cornstarch 🔘 vegan butter as you like
Sauce 🥣
🔘 30 g vegan butter 🔘 1 tbsp flour 🔘 2 nori leaves 🔘 1-2 tbsp white miso 🔘 1-2 tbsp soy sauce 🔘 100 ml cucumber broth 🔘 1-2 tsp vegetable broth 🔘 1 tsp garlic powder 🔘 1 tsp onion powder 🔘 150 ml vegan cream (soy or oat works best) 🔘 175 g vegan crème fraîche 🔘 salt and pepper as you like (🔘 you could also add 100 ml vegan white wine)

Instructions
  1. Start by slicing the tofu block in half and making cuts 1–2 mm apart on the top of the fillets to replicate the texture of salmon.
  2. Next, blend together cucumber water, nori leaves, white miso, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder until finely chopped. Add beet juice until the marinade turns into the desired color.
  3. Pour the marinade to a small saucepan and heat it up. Place the tofu fillets in the saucepan and simmer on medium heat for about 10 minutes, ensuring that the marinade seeps into the cuts of the fillets.
  4. Once done, remove the fillets from the pot and let them drain slightly. Dust the underside of the fillets with a bit of cornstarch.
  5. In a separate pan, heat some butter and fry the fillets from all sides until golden brown.
  6. While the tofu cooks, prepare the sauce. Melt vegan butter in a saucepan and stir in flour until combined. Rip the nori leaves apart and add it to the butter mixture. Quickly add white miso and soy sauce, then deglaze with cucumber broth. Pour in vegetable broth, onion powder, garlic powder, vegan cream, and vegan crème fraîche, and let it simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the tofu salmon-fillets, generously drizzled with the sauce.
Enjoy your vegan salmon alternative! 🐟 🌱

2024.06.01 12:12 Aquacat_1223 Advice on current position - 31m with partner graduating from nursing degree

Hi everyone, I just wanted some advice on my current position to see how I can set myself up nicely in the next decade and see how I'm doing at the minute.
I've recently turned 31 and have always been a bit of a finance and spreadsheet nerd, so have always tracked my person finances ever since I earned an income from my waitering job when I was 14.
I feel as though I'm in a reasonably good position, but wanted some advice how to maximise my 30s to set myself up well going into my 40s. I don't know why, I just feel as though the next decade is quite a big one to set my future self up well. My current position is below:
Salary: £75k (expect this to move to £80k in the next month or two) Take home after tax, NI and company car: £3.9k Another form of income brings in an average of £300 Total take home: £4.2k
My outgoings total about £4k/month give or take. My mortgage and bills come to £2k/month and then we spend an average of £2k/month on food and all activities/holiday funds. We're certainly not materialistic but do spend a fair amount on travelling to different places.
Current finances are: House value £380k, mortgage just under £270k, so £110k equity. Workplace pension: £50k Emergency fund spread across high interest savings accounts: £30k Bitcoin: £40k Vanguard account (mainly S&P500): £15k Total net worth: £245k
The last few years have been difficult, with my income being the only source for the house. My girlfriend has finished a nursing degree which has taken 3 years and is due to start a new role in August on a starting salary of £28k. This will bring in another £1.8k I'm assuming.
Based on that, with my salary and my partner's new source of income, we'd have about £2k/month extra which I'm thinking on consistently adding into the vanguard SS ISA.
My questions I'm hoping for some advice on are the following: - Is the thought of investing all outstanding income into S&P 500/World fund (£2k/month) the best plan? There are months we'll have more than this, but I'd say that's the average. - I've been with my partner for 6 years and she's definitely the one. However I bought the property myself 7 years ago before her and she has only ever contributed the food bills etc. I've always paid the full mortgage and bills etc. She has just over £5k to her name. Are we to just combine everything anyway once we tie the knot? - Is my current position pretty good? I've worked hard throughout my 20s whilst still travelling a lot and having an overall great time. I'm unsure whether I'll want to retire early, but I certainly want full financial independence. (Well aware of the FIRE community and read a lot of their posts). Is my plan through my 30s going to set us up well and make us FI if we stay consistent with the additional income?
Last point, no kids yet and will be a flip of a coin whether we have them eventually. If I was a betting man I'd probably say we will in about 5 years time. I understand this would completely change our path, but we'll cross that if it ever happens.
Appreciate your advice in advance and apologies for the essay.

2024.06.01 12:12 Similar_Set_6582 My account was banned from TV Tropes.

[[folder:Bilingual Dialogue (11/50)]] * Characters.MashupWeekMegamixCompetitors: Despite the fact that all 3 members speak different languages (English for Scoop, French for Eric and Italian for Baba), they can be understood by each other and by others easily. * Film.NoTimeToDie: James Bond's 5-year-old daughter, Mathilde, understands English even though her mother Madelaine speaks to her in French and all the media she consumes is in French. * Film.Titanic1997: Jack and the Swedish men understand each other well enough that Olaf is able to bet his tickets for all Jack and Fabrizio's money. * FinalFantasyXIV.TropesGToI?: ** In ''Heavensward'', the Warrior and Alphinaud are startled by how they can understand the great wyrm Hraesvelgr, who only speaks the language of dragons. Later, upon meeting Tsuyoshi Kondo after Eiko's performance at the Yoyogi Art Festival, Kongming easily translates his GratuitousEnglish for a confused Kobayashi, and he's even become friends with a foreigner in Roppongi, who speaks exclusively in English. He's capable of some GratuitousEnglish himself, to boot. * Recap/CreepshowS2E2PublicTelevisionOfTheDead: Goodman reveals to Ted, out of nowhere, that he can read Sumerian, allowing him to translate the Necronomicon's incantations and let Evil roam free once again. * Series.{{Carnivale}}: During the fireball show, Samson secretly passes an old Crusader fob up to the stage during Lodz's psychometry act. The actual flair should be: need some good sense to stop symptom spotting! Lol
I'm 3dp5dt and I've been feeling symptoms that come and go: a pricking in the right side of my uterus/ovaries that started 1 hour after transfer, dull cramps, headaches, and pain on the right side of my back.
While two days ago I was happy to be feeling things, I have since started to see it as a potentially bad sign, as I read about so many people who had different symptoms and had a negative, or no symptoms and had a positive.
Ultimately, I'm trying to remind myself that these symptoms are caused by the progesterone suppositories and I should not read into them!
What helped you get through the TWW?

2024.06.01 12:11 KingofSpain0 Psalm 69

Psalm 69:1-36

1 Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. 2 I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me. 3 I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God. 4 Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me. I am forced to restore what I did not steal.
5 You, God, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you.
6 Lord, the Lord Almighty, may those who hope in you not be disgraced because of me; God of Israel, may those who seek you not be put to shame because of me. 7 For I endure scorn for your sake, and shame covers my face. 8 I am a foreigner to my own family, a stranger to my own mother’s children; 9 for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me. 10 When I weep and fast, I must endure scorn; 11 when I put on sackcloth, people make sport of me. 12 Those who sit at the gate mock me, and I am the song of the drunkards.
13 But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation. 14 Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters. 15 Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me.
16 Answer me, Lord, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me. 17 Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in trouble. 18 Come near and rescue me; deliver me because of my foes.
19 You know how I am scorned, disgraced and shamed; all my enemies are before you. 20 Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless; I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none. 21 They put gall in my food and gave me vinegar for my thirst.
22 May the table set before them become a snare; may it become retribution and\)b\) a trap. 23 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever. 24 Pour out your wrath on them; let your fierce anger overtake them. 25 May their place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in their tents. 26 For they persecute those you wound and talk about the pain of those you hurt. 27 Charge them with crime upon crime; do not let them share in your salvation. 28 May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.
29 But as for me, afflicted and in pain— may your salvation, God, protect me.
30 I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. 31 This will please the Lord more than an ox, more than a bull with its horns and hooves. 32 The poor will see and be glad— you who seek God, may your hearts live! 33 The Lord hears the needy and does not despise his captive people.
34 Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and all that move in them, 35 for God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah. Then people will settle there and possess it; 36 the children of his servants will inherit it, and those who love his name will dwell there.

2024.06.01 12:11 BookMansion The Vegetarian by Han Kang

The Vegetarian by Han Kang
The Vegeterian
"The Vegetarian" by Han Kang was originally published in South Korea in 2007. Just to make sure, South Korea is not led by Kim Jong Un but borders with North Korea. If Han lived in North Korea, the regulations of the country probably wouldn't allow it to be published.
Following are some facts about the book:
  1. Theme: "The Vegetarian" explores themes of desire, control, rebellion, and societal expectations.
  2. The plot depicts the psychological and emotional transformation of a woman named Yeong-hye. After a series of disturbing dreams, Yeong-hye decides to become a vegetarian. She becomes obsessed with her choice and her struggle against social norms and descent into madness start.
  3. Narrative Structure: The book is divided into three parts. Every part has a different narrator. All characters who tell the story are closely connected to Yeong-hye. Through these multiple viewpoints, the story unfolds in a fragmented and non-linear manner telling us about the protagonist's actions and their repercussions.
  4. Being set in contemporary South Korea, "The Vegetarian" focuses on societal norms and gender expectations prevalent in Korean culture. It depicts Yeong-hye's struggle with the restrictive nature of social conventions and the consequences of defying those norms.
  5. Style: Han Kang's prose is lyrical and introspective.
  6. Awards and Recognition: "The Vegetarian" won the Man Booker International Prize in 2016. It is how the author brought international attention to Korean literature which wasn't so noticed before.
  7. Adaptation: The novel has been adapted into a film titled "The Vegetarian," directed by South Korean filmmaker Lim Woo-seong.
  8. Impact: "The Vegetarian" has been praised for its depiction of the consequences of societal pressures. It sparked discussions on mental health, autonomy, and individualism.
If you like weird, give it a shot.

2024.06.01 12:11 spongeylemon Help with Kombat Pack 1

Hello everybody!
I recently purchased the Kombat Pack 1 for the MK1 but noticed that in game that the characters weren’t accessible. I even tried clicking on those that are released (Ermac, Omni-Man, etc.) but to no avail. I was wondering what I could do in order to overcome this issue? I play on a PS5 btw if that will help.
