2024.06.01 13:38 redfemscientist Been in Toronto for 2 days now for travel and tourism. I've made myself a new friend as soon as I arrived in the airport.
When i arrived in Toronto Pearson Airport i tried to buy a Presto card (transportation card) and was struggling with the machine as it didn't gave me my card although i paid for it.
My first reaction was to get help at the information point, where a black woman was working. I explained my situation and long story short she helped me get a new card. We eventually discussed about the city and jobs here. She told me since I am french and speaking french i would definitely get a job easily since many fields are recruiting french speakers. She told me she would be interested to get better in french and i replied i would like to be fluent in english. So we exchanged our numbers and promised to keep in touch.
I am so happy i made myself a new sis the first day on my trip to Toronto and I enjoy the city. 💕

2024.06.01 13:21 musicwithbarb I’m magnificent performance full of magnificent and unique instruments will be happening this evening at 7:30 at St. George’s Cathedral
Hello Kingston. God, I sound like that guy from those car commercials. What was his name? Was that Trevor Cotton? I swear I’m not him. It’s just me. Anyway.
I am messaging today to tell you all about a very unique and beautiful performance that will be taking place today. You all might be super busy with spring reverb. But have you ever wondered what it must’ve felt like for the Virgin Mary to discover that she was going to bear the saviour Jesus Christ? If you have, you can hear that today. Melos choir and period instruments will be performing four different renditions of the famous Mary’s song Magnificat. We have four different iterations of it from a 15th century Cambridge chant to Monteverdi‘s beautiful 16th century version. Then we have a version written by a very amazing and rebellious nun called sister Isabela Leonarda from the 18th century. Then we finished with the big boy. Mr. JS Bach himself wrote the final piece which is a half an hour of absolute amazement and glory.
On top of hearing some of the most gorgeous voices in Kingston, you will also get a treat for your ears in the form of real honest to God Cornetti and my favourite word sack butts. of course we have renowned players from Toronto and Montreal as well as an actual Baroque player from right here in Kingston. Also, if you are familiar with music by Ariel, as in Ariel, the music teacher in Kingston, she will be performing many solos in this performance because she’s awesome. So it would be amazing if you would come join us. Oh, and Margaret Walker is playing baroque Timpanys. I’m named dropping like crazy but I’m just so excited that I get to sing with all these remarkable musicians.
Show starts at 7:30 PM tonight. It’s at St. George’s Cathedral in the main church. You can buy tickets online at Eventbrite, but I don’t really know where. Your best bet is to just grab them up the door. It is going to be a beautiful program and apparently this is the first time that we have ever had coronet in Kingston according to some people. So that is really exciting and I hope I will see some of you there.

2024.05.31 23:29 pajnt Lolita Events In Upstate NY or Toronto Area?
I am currently in the Bay Area and cannot afford anything like a con during the time I am here, sadly. I'd love to go to something free if possible but am limited to places like Santa Cruz, San Francisco, San Jose, etc. I have visited Japantown before which was nice, and I got to visit the BTSSB shop and buy some headbows!
I will soon be living in Upstate New York and would be reliably be able to take a day trip to Toronto from where I will be living. I wanted to know if there are any events that have Jfashion or even Lolita specific events or vendors. I found a few docs that sadly seemed to have stopped updating last year or very early this year. I know there is Anime North which may have some vendors or something!
Are there any instagram accounts or Facebook pages I could maybe follow for these areas? If there are any upstate NY or Toronto Lolitas who could push me in the right direction I'd be super grateful, thank you so much! I try to search for lolita comm accounts but it censors me because of "lolita" of course 🙄

2024.05.31 22:25 kokopelleee Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim, May 2024
I'm not one to carry a GoPro, take many pictures, or train for an event, but I like writing things up after. It's old school, but the stream-of-consciousness, no edits style can be fun and raw. An old, broken body will always voice it's displeasure, and that's part of the fun too.
Wednesday, May 22nd , 2024 to Thursday, May 23rd, 2024
45.3 miles
10,710 feet of descent (that be the downhill parts)
10,310 feet of ascent (that be the uphilly parts)
Route: start on South Rim,
down South Kaibab (7.4 miles, 4,700’ descent)
up North Kaibab (13.6 miles, 5,695’ ascent) arriving at North Rim
down North Kaibab (13.6 miles, 5,695’ descent) (wow, you go back and forth on the same trail and the distance and elevation match)
Up Bright Angel (9.5 miles, 4,314’ ascent, arriving back at the South Rim
Don’t @ me that those numbers are a little off… I used Phantom Ranch as my trail start/terminus because that’s where I stopped.
A little background, in 2019 I did Rim-to-River-to-Rim with my good friend. At Phantom Ranch, I seriously asked if we could just keep following the North Kaibab trail and do what we really wanted to do: Rim-to–Rim-to-Rim, but wiser heads prevailed. That was my friend, not me. Ever since, I’ve been thinking about doing the double crossing of the Canyon in a non-stop, or non-camping, manner. Why? Because that’s how I wanted to do it.
Wednesday I caught a flight into Phoenix, grabbed my rental car and shot north to the Canyon, arriving around 5pm at my hotel in Tusayan, the hotel and restaurant town a few minutes outside of the park. Check in was easy. I had stopped on the way to get a couple gallons of water and a Subway sandwich for the trail, so I did not need to grab dinner. After loading, and weighing, my pack (new CamelBak Octane with my old 3 liter reservoir) I ate ½ of the sandwich and made a few calls. Yes, my pack was definitely overdone. There was no need for 13 pounds.
Thanks subway staff! They got the bread wrong, and it tasted terrible. Of course I would still carry the other ½ sandwich into the Canyon with me, but I knew I wouldn’t eat it.
After closing the blinds and setting an alarm, I laid out for a little pre-event sleep. Thankfully I was able to get an hour or so of a nap in before my alarm barked at me at 8:50pm. By 9:15 I was on my way into the Park, and by 9:30 I had parked, walked to Bright Angel Lodge and called the park taxi. I’d recently learned that there was a Park taxi (only one of them), and they can take directly to the South Kaibab trailhead which is not accessible to normal vehicles. After waiting a while to get slotted, I was given a “be ready in 20 minutes” from the dispatcher. Inside the hotel lobby it was warm and not windy (that’s what real authors call “foreshadowing”).
A guy about 10 years older than me was in the lobby waiting for his daughter to drive her car up and get him. They had done Rim-to-Rim that day (North to South), and he was hurting bigtime. He mentioned more than a few times how the footing on the North Kaibab trail was terrible. Yes, backcountry trails on steep terrain are always pretty terrible. It’s ain’t a bike path. They rolled out, and I waited a bit longer until I saw the taxi arrive.
As is always the case, delays are real and always happen. There were supposed to be 2 other people being picked up, but they were nowhere to be seen. We waited, the taxi driver ranted, until I suggested we had waited long enough and hit the road. Driver guy had had one hell of a full-moon night and we chatted while he observed the speed limits of 15mph and 25mph very carefully. The roads were deserted at 10:15pm, but he said he was GPS monitored on speed which I can understand. He rolled right up to the trailhead, dropping me off, and picking up another hiker up who had been waiting for up to an hour. It was very, very windy, lots of dust in the air, a bit of sandblasting, but such is life. I had my Marmot rain shell on which I always wear or carry and headed straight for the trailhead.
I had turned on and started the GPS tracker that I had borrowed, so the only pause was to take a picture of the trailhead.
Hoping to get out of the wind, or that it might slack off the lower I got I started heading down the trail. SK is pretty steep, but the wind was not quick to abate. During my last trek here, I had shed my rain shell very early. Today I was going to keep it on for protection from the flying dust and debris.
A few switchbacks down I spotted some lights below me. Cool, someone to catch. Yes, I’m externally motivated. It’s not the best way to live, but it’s who I am.
The switchbacks kept coming, as did the log ladders and mixed trail terrain. Some sections were runnable, so I did. The switchbacks that hit at exposed peaks were definitely a sketchy. With massive dropoffs on either side and wind gusts that rocked the body, these points required some thought. Mainly that thought was “crouch down, so that you don’t get blown over the side to your death.” The darkness exacerbated the fear of falling to my demise. It wasn’t that bad, but mentally, and being alone, it was a thought I couldn’t shake.
At some point I caught up to the couple ahead of me, said a few greetings and scooted past. They had trekking poles and were navigating the uneven trail a bit slower than I was. In the darkness I missed Ooh-Ahh point and it’s famous view. Granted, there’s not much to see in the dark anyway. I had picked a full moon for my trek, but it was not illuminating much. I tried turning my headlamp off a few times because I love trekking by moonlight, but the shadows were too dark and hid critical details that could easily lead to a twisted ankle or maybe worse (steep terrain, dropoffs, ….. You get the picture). I wanted to get rid of my jacket, but was getting buffeted still and decided it was not quite the right time even though I was heating up.
I was doing my usual sipping frequently from my camelbak reservoir and it felt like I was stopping to pee every 5 minutes. That was concerining because it was coming out very clear which is a sign that fluids are passing right through.
At some point, I braked to a complete stop, having spotted a HUGE scorpion just resting in the middle of the trail. I am no fan of those critters, but it was easy to step over. Back to losing elevation I went. I don’t know where I was exactly, I had shot through Cedar Ridge and around Skeleton point where it opens up a bit I noticed a Katadyn 1 liter Be Free water pouch with filter. Both to keep the trail clean and, why not, I picked it up, drained it, and stuffed it in my pack. I already had one just in case I needed to filter water, but a spare doesn’t hurt. Whoever had lost it was well off trail by then and not coming back for it.
Finally I was able to shed my jacket, while moving, which felt amazing.
Turning one corner, I noticed even more lights below me that led to believe there were a few more people on trail below me. There was not, as I’d learn later, but it would have been nice had there been.
Soon I hit the junction with the River Trail which felt pretty soon. Then I was really shocked to come up to the tunnel at Phantom Ranch Bridge (or black bridge as some call it). I was really shocked. I’d been on trail for about 2 hours but didn’t think I’d come this far as mainly I’d just been putting one foot in front of the other and and making forward progress. This was a cool boost!
I crossed the bridge and headed with the flow of the river toward Bright Angel Campground and Phantom Ranch. At Phantom, I topped off my water reservoir and hopped back on trail within a few minutes. It was dark, the air was cool, and life was good. Why not make time?
Heading out of Phantom the trail did what it does and started moving upwards again. About the first half (7’ish) miles of North Kaibab trail are more gradual with 4% to 7% grades which is where one can put some miles in. The longest section of the trail without services is between Phantom Ranch and Cottonwood campground which are a little less than 7 miles apart. This is also the hottest part of the trail during the day. Several miles are in between towering cliffs where the heat has nowhere to go, this section is called “The Box.” Of course, at 1am, it wasn’t hot at all. The full moon was providing some super cool illumination on the cliffs, but I still needed my headlamp for trail details. Just above the box, there was a stream in the middle of the trail which I avoided. Wet feet can be the end of a hike. A few hundred feet up, it was clear that it wasn’t a stream but a break in the water line.
Uh-oh. The water line supplied the North side water stops. Would they now be shutoff?
I was still making good time and decided that, even with the waterline break, I would skip refilling at Cottonwood and go the next 1.4 miles up to Manzanita rest stop to refill. Made it to Manzanita and the water was still on, so I quickly refilled my reservoir and got back on trail. Now it was steep again with an 11% grade. I was thinking longingly of the 7 mile stretch between Cottonwood and Phantom Ranch and how nice it would be to jog that section once I returned to it later in the day. I still think it would be nice to jog that section someday.
I was starting to see headlamps above me from the people who had done an early start on their Rim-to-Rim treks staring from the North Rim. I loved the solitude of being alone in a very popular national park, but it’s also good to know that a few people are around.
I have read different numbers, but it is said that out of 4.75 Million people who visit the Grand Canyon every year, only 5% go below the rim (at all) and less than 10% of those folks make it to the river. That would be about 0.5% of visitors make it Rim-to-River-to-Rim or Rim-to-Rim. I can’t find any data on who many people do double that up and do Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim on any given year.
Let’s divert a bit and talk about how this can be done… Yes, there are many options. Some people hike straight through, they leave the North Rim in the dark and traverse to the South Rim over the course of 10-20 hours. Another choice is to overnight camp along the way at one of several campgrounds (reservations REQUIRED). I’m not against the concept, but the thought of carrying a tent and sleeping bag up the other side of the canyon sounds way too hard to me. Yet another choice is to reserve a cabin at Phantom Ranch where you can also get dinner and breakfast. Because it is a cabin, you don’t have to haul camping gear.
Speaking of Phantom Ranch, they do sell a few things to hikers including ice cold lemonade. A lot of people talk about it like it’s an elixir from the gods. Personally I would prefer to keep walking and not waste time stopping, buying and drinking something that needs to have it’s cup recycled at the location.
Back on trail, it was good to see people. Most honored trail etiquette - whoever is going uphill has the right of way, so I got to keep plugging along. It was finally light, and I was able to ditch my headlamp finally which was lovely. Up, up, up, I went. Seeing many folks who had questions, “when did you start?” “how are you doing?” and the obligatory “You’re ALMOST there!”
Note to the trail gods, I was NOT “almost there.” It was nice for folks to say it, but after every group said it, and I could see at least 1,000’ vertical to gain I started thinking “Do they think that I am almost there, or are they being incredibly nice?”
Answer: they were being nice.
At this point, the trail had more and more major step ups and log ladders, and my left knee was really hating me. Over the years, my patella, which does not track correctly, has ground away the cartilage from my femur, so any 90deg bend with force causes a massive stab of pain. OK, step ups would only be with my right leg from now on. Plus, as I was gaining altitude it was getting a bit chilly. Keep moving. My sleeveless t-shirt does not provide a ton of warmth.
I had tried to use one of the long-sleeve sun protecting hoodies, but I really didn’t like it. It just wasn’t for me. Another tangent, so much of this stuff is personal. What gear do you bring, what shoes do you wear, how many layers do you bring, what do you eat? It’s all a matter of trial and error.
At some point, I came across a group of Chinese couples who were descending for their R2. The guy at the lead of their pack asked me a few questions and finally asked “are you doing R3?”
“Uhhhh, yeah. At least I’m hoping to. Need to finish Rim-to-Rim first.”
For years I did not bring people in. I had a “NOBODY CARES. WORK HARDER” sticker in huge letters on my handstand pushup wall. After a lot of work on myself, it turns out that A LOT of people care. Even strangers from another country can care. The lead guy yelled back to the rest of their crew who congratulated me with every person I walked past. It was pretty cool.
The trail though? It didn’t care. It just kept going uphill.
Not too far from what really was the end, there was crew of about 5 guys who took up most of the trail and refused to share. There are always those folks out there. Everyone else was cool as heck.
And then… the final stretch, well, for this section, and I was at the North Rim. It was cold. I didn’t need water, so I took my selfie at the North Rim sign, used the GPS personal locator to send an “I’m OK” message and went back down the trail.
Unfortunately, my legs were more than a bit wrecked. That I could only step up with my right leg meant I could also only lower myself with my right leg when there were rocks and logs to step down from, and the muscles along my left shin were screaming in pain too. I was good and assessed if this meant I should call it a day and try to get a shuttle to the South Rim, but I could still move even if only slowly.
Down we go again… Step downs were not fun. Plant right foot, pivot on it, lower left leg to the ground below, repeat, repeat, repeat. Oh, and blisters were cropping up too. There is a water filling stop at Supai tunnel which I targeted for my refill and blister treatment. Once I covered the 1.7 miles to the tunnel, I took a break, pulled off my pack and dug out my blister kit.
I say “dug out,” but the Octane pack is pretty well organized. I simply located the blister kit in the little internal pouch, pulled out the tiny scissors and started lancing blisters. One circled the back of my heel where the insole ended. 20 miles to go and now my shoes finally show their true colors. After refilling my water and bandaging my blisters, I got back to what needed to be done, losing elevation. Damn I was going slow though. Way too slow but having to walk differently to avoid pain was a slow process.
I’ve done it many times before in many situations. There was no danger, I had food and water and was regularly ingesting salt tablets. It’s a mind-game now. The plans I had roughly sketched out where out of the window, and it would be a day of slow and steady progress.
The trail and terrain look so different coming down than going up and not just because there was now light to see.
As with all alpine type trails, distances are weird. I saw a building below me which I thought was the Manzanita rest stop, and it looked very close. Problem was, it was not the Manzanita rest stop, and to get to it required a lot more switchbacks and uneven terrain. It’s almost sad when you realize it’s a building I couldn’t have seen in the morning on the way up.
Around now, more people were coming up the trail too, doing a South to North version of Rim-to-Rim, with a few doing R3. Also came across a guy lugging a mountain bike across the Grand Canyon, because the Canyon is part of the Arizona Trail. You can’t ride a mountain bike through the canyon, so, if you are doing the AZ trail by mountain bike, you have to carry it across. That’s hardcore.
I passed a few R2 hikers, even in my slow state there are always folks moving slower, and heard some people talking behind me. I have a fragile ego and didn’t want to get passed this close to Manzanita rest stop, so I picked up the pace a bit. By “a bit” I only mean 1-2%. I wasn’t winning any prizes today. Thankfully, Manzanita appeared, and I was able to hop off the trail before getting passed. I said it, and I meant it. I have a fragile ego.
The two guys also hopped in to the rest stop. One taking the seat next to me at the picnic table and immediately pulling his pants off.
OK, he had running shorts underneath, but that did not stop me from remarking “it’s not everyday a guy I don’t know takes his pants off next to me.”
I didn’t need water, but I did use the time to apply a nice layer of sunscreen. The slurry of sunscreen, trail dust, and salt crystals is probably a great sun protection, but it’s kind of gross too. 10 minute break over it was time to get back on trail. I was not happy at this point. I should be able to run some of this, but my legs were not allowing any of that. The 1.4 miles to Cottonwood took just as long going down as they had going up in the morning.
Actually, it was still morning, around 9am or so (?), but I had been going since 10:30pm last night. At Manzanita I used the GPS to message that I was safe (have to say that or people freak out) but struggling and plans have changed. I’d probably be stopping for a while once I got to Phantom Ranch. That lemonade that I had distained earlier was sounding pretty darn good.
It’s pretty wide open at this point with the nothing to block the sun. My boony hat with neck guard was doing a great job of keep my head, neck and face protected, but nothing was protecting me from my slow progress. There were a lot more northbound folks on the traill, and they looked a LOT fresher than I felt. They kept saying “good morning” too which was incredibly surreal. Didn’t they know it was late afternoon already? Except it was not late afternoon.
They guys who had been behind me at Manzanita would leap frog me. They walked faster but took frequent breaks. Soon enough I hit Cottonwood Campground. No need to stop for water, so I kept going. There are a few uphills in this section, and those did not feel fantastic. Again, no danger, no worries, just keep moving the legs.
When I hit the part of the trail with the water line break I knew I was close to the heat of the box. It wasn’t the heat of the day, but it was later than I had hoped to be there. Drink, talk salt tablets, eat as I could, keep plugging.
My only thought when entering the Box was to get through the Box and into Phantom Ranch, which is really close to the end of the Box. The only way to get out of the box is to keep walking, and, at some point, instead of seeing canyon walls, the sky will open up to show the South Rim. Oh hey, the South Rim is 4,000’ vertical above, and will need to be dealt with at some point today. All in it’s time though.
My history of epic events has taught me some very critical lessons: I’m not very smart, and I can dig deep and grind out distance when most people can’t. It’s about turning inward and just making progress when the only thing you can do is make incremental progress.
I was probably down to 1.5 miles per hour now, and that was downhill. Ugh.
Every corner revealed a new section of canyon walls instead of open sky, and the Box was getting warm. Even with the roaring creek beside us this section just held a lot of heat. The trail varied sides of the creek as the 7 bridges criss crossed it. One more bridge down meant a little closer to a long break. More canyon meant another corner to hope to see the South Rim. By now, I was sitting regularly for a break. My legs wanted it, so I gave it to them.
The first deep drink from my camelbak was inevitably hot, and the 2nd and 3rd, which had not been exposed to the sun, were delightfully cool. I was cherishing those 2nd and 3rd sips.
Another corner, and still more canyon walls. In the distance I would see the 2 guys who I’d talked with earlier. They weren’t making that much headway in comparison. At some point, the canyon walls fell away and Phantom Ranch appeared. I really wanted that lemonade.
The steps up to the window counter at Phantom were not nice to me, but I got my lemonade, 2 ice cold apples, and a small bag of peanuts (more salt for the fluid absorption). There was a picnic table, in the shade, so I took it. Sipping lemonade and enjoying a couple of lovely apples.
Given that I had been on trail for 12 or so hours, with no sleep, I decided to set an alarm and take a 30 minute nap. You know you’re tired when you are old and immediately all asleep while laying the bench of an old picnic table.
I woke up when my person lightly scratched their nails on my shin to get my attention.
Except I was doing this solo, how they hell did they get here? Oh, it was a squirrel trying to climb me to get to my apple core. The mind is an amazing thing.
The Chinese crew was at Phantom too, and they were very interested in my condition. They were expats living in Toronto, and we had a nice chat.
After an hour at Phantom it was time to move on again. I wanted to soak my feet and legs in the cold Colorado river, but the Phantom access was upriver, so I targeted the river access that was across the Silver Bridge and up the trail a ways. As I left Bright Angel campground, the “pants off” guy from the duo asked if I had seen his buddy. They had gotten separated.
“You mean your friend with the blue shirt?”
“ummm, I have no idea what color shirt he has on, I’m color blind”
“oh hey! Me too… the dark shirt?”
“Yeah him. He went back to the store for something and hasn;’t come through”
“No, I haven’t seen him”
Crossing the Silver (OK, the “galvanized”) bridge, a couple of motor rafts drifted below. Maybe they had the better way of seeing the Canyon.
I wasn’t emotional at all, no frustration or anger. I knew that my plans were out the window, but the true nature of all of this was in dealing with what is versus what one wanted things to be. The section between Silver Bridge and the river access (before the trail turns left and heads up again) is pretty mellow. The section where the trail is beach sand is a bit challenging. Mainly it was all just warm. Very warm.
At the river access, a construction crew was working with some type of cable. I assume it was massive power cables, so I chose not to do my soak there. I know there are a few places where a creek crosses the trail up ahead. Thankfully there was one just a few yards up, so gladly stopped and dropped my pack. The cold water felt great on my feet and knee, and I took the time to do some more blister surgery.
Unfortunately, as I put on fresh socks, which I had debated about carrying, I knocked my sunglasses into creek which swiftly took them away. It was getting into later afternoon, still sunny, but I hoped I could get by with lowering my hat.
Back on trail, up I went. If I haven’t said “stead motion” a hundred times by now, just wait, I’ll easly get to 100 by the time this over.
The two guys came through this section and rested for a bit and headed out before me
Bright Angel trail is about 10 miles, and it’s roughly divided up into sections. It’s about 5 miles from Phantom to Havasupai Campground (the only water source turned on today), then it’s 1.5 miles to 3 Mile Resthouse, 1.5 miles to Mile-and-a-Half Resthouse (quick, do the math on that…) and then another 1.5 miles to the South Rim. The section to Havasupai was a slow slog. Somewhere on the Devil’s Corkscrew, which is a series of switchbacks that is really visible from above, a guy flew past me wearing full pants, boots, and a firefighter helmet while also holding a radio. It was impressive and disheartening.
The two guys were ahead of me, and I could see them on occasion, never catching up to them.
During the section where the creek runs in the middle of the trail, another shirtless firefighter blew past me. “How far is he ahead of me?” he asked, “I have to catch him.” You go bro.
Surprisingly I caught up to the two guys. We chatted for a bit wondering how much farther Havasupai was. We estimated at last another mile or mile and a half. This is where there is a creek on the South side, and the greenery and animal sounds were amazing. They kept me company as I moved along at my 1.5 mile per hour pace. Then I hit Havasupai, took a seat, took off my hat and pack, and rested.
The Chinese crew was here too as they had left Phantom well before me. The duo arrived too. I rested, filled my water reservoir, ate a little, and rested some more. By now I was using a stop watch to keep track of my stops. I will look at my watch but never remember the time. Seeing “10 minutes” on a stopwatch is much more effective. At 5:40pm, the duo and I pulled on our packs to leave and discussed how much time we had left.
“It’s about 1 ½ miles between each next stop (3 mile, 1 ½ mile, South Rim), with about 1,000 feet of vertical between each. At my pace of 1.5 mph, that’s roughly 3 hours plus stops, so I’m saying 9pm on the Rim”
Hey, I sounded like I knew what I was talking about. Confidence when speaking is critical.
I pulled on my pack and started up the trail. It was now early evening, it was cooling off, and the sun was not beating down. If you are paying attention, I wasn’t, you’ll notice that I forgot something.
About 20 minutes later I realized I had forgotten my hat. Oops, but there was no way I was going back for it. Somebody can get some use out of it. Instead I started thinking about hat shopping. What kind would I replace it with?
I had forecasted an hour of hard hiking between each waypoint, so I used time as my measurement. I should get to 3 Mile at 6:40pm, and I kept looking at my watch as I walked about. 6:01pm. 6:07pm, 6:20pm. Etc. etc. It was my way to guage progress. I also caught and passed the Canadian Chinese crew. 4 married couples who adventured together and trained together. We chatted for a while, but I need to keep my pace. After leaving them a French guy caught up to me “excuse me, did you leave a hat at the water stop?”
Yes, yes, I did.
“My friend is carrying it…” OK, I waited a minute for the friend who handed me my hat and scooted up the trail. No way I was taking my pack off, so I rolled it up and held it in my hand. I really didn’t pause in hiking, did take a short seat a time or two, and at 6:30 the 3 Mile Resthouse’s beauty appeared before me.
Normally when I hike long, my fingers swell significantly. It’s not sodium, it’s that edema pools in my fingers. I had noticed it for most of the day, but it, very surprisingly, had gone away in my right hand. Holding onto my had cleared the edema from my hand. Maybe I should look at getting some decent trekking poles with large grips in order to force my hands to hold something and reduce the swelling?
OK then, making good time all things considered. I went past the resthouse and took a seat on a rock. A young couple I’d been leap frogging with ended their break at the resthouse and started up ahead of me. There was no way I’d be catching them.
Throughout the day, I had noticed one set of shoe prints with a distinct “Adidas” logo, and I started seeing it again. Was it him or her? The dust of the trail held perfect shoe impressions, but only briefly, so it became a game to track the Adidas logo and guess which one of them it was.
You have to do something to pass the time.
It was coming on to to sunset, but this section of the trail isn’t the best aligned for sunset views, so I admired the vistas and searched for shoe prints wil also looking at my watch to see how much of the next hour I had left before I reached Mile and a Half Resthouse.
If you have never done it, pushing forward for literally hours on end is a reward unto itself. It takes WORK to gain 1,000’ of vertical in a mile and a half (approximately an 11% grade). This trail section is better than most with several decent sections, but there are alway log ladders and step ups to overcome. My left leg felt a lot better since soaking in the creek, and I was able to judiciously use in on smaller step ups to save my right leg. For the bigger step ups it was “adjust stride to put left foot at the base of the step up, step up with the right leg, then push myself up and over.”
At 7:30 I hit the Mile and a Half Resthouse, right on my adjusted schedule. After a brief sit, it was time for the final push to the Rim.
I had not seen the duo since Havasupai, and I had managed to catch a couple of people. It wasn’t a lot, but it was still a nice mental boost.
The Bright Angle Tunnel came out of nowehere much to my joy, but I forget that it’s further down trail than I want to admit. There was still time left in my day. Right about then I heard strong footsteps behind me. It was a guy I’d seen a time or two during the day in a party of four. One of their team was hurting, so he was charging ahead to get some food for the guy and bring it back down. That’s impressive.
He also told me that Maswik Lodge has a food court. By now, my thoughts had turned to “what am I going to eat when I’m off this trail, and where can I get some LEMONADE?”
Food court you say??? Hmmmmm.
The guy said we were 3 switchbacks away from the end. Granted, the last switchback is a haul from the trailhead, but it was good info. I came across two women, one of whom had pushed it too hard sensing the end, and was heaving at the side of the trail. They assured me that they had what they needed. OK, the woman who was not heaving assured me that they have fluids and clothing and headlamps after I had checked to see if they needed any help, so I kept moving forward.
Then, there it was, the buildings at the edge of the Rim! 20 hours to the minute instead of what should have been about 17, but life is what you make of it.
I didn’t see the big Bright Angel sign and wanted to get to my car, so I took at quick selfie at the trailhead sign and hoofed it to my rental SUV. it felt sooooooooo nice to take off my running shoes, socks and gaiters and put on my Teva’s. Pure bliss.
Of course I was shivering uncontrollably in the wind and from the exertion. After changing shoes, notifying everyone I was OK, and texting Monika and my kids, it was time to roll. My intent was to get out of the park, but, driving past Maswik, which looked open, I had to stop in. After acquiring 4 slices of cheese pizza I was on my way to my hotel. Stopping at the minimart in Tusayan, I scored a lemonade, a coke, and a Double IPA. All sounded delicious.
The parking lot was full, so I did the back lot which required a set of downstairs to get to my room. That was a challenge.
In my hotel I made a few calls. My 89yo mother had been more than a little worried. My person was incredibly happy for me and also no fan of the GPS tracking software. My kids were cool that I was still breathing. I enjoyed the lemonade and coke, AND the pizza. It wasn’t that great to be honest, but I loved it.
Then I hopped in the showing to erase 20 hours of trail dust and grime. I’m sure the hotel is used to it, but I felt bad that the washcloth was far from white when I was finished. At least I was clean!
And then I slept, and a good sleep it was. So good. 11 hours of bliss.
The next morning I took my time, packed up while drinking coffee, and walked over to the Mexican place next door. It was only 4.0 on Google, but I have rarely met a chimichanga that I don’t like. Deep fried is amazing.
Then I headed back into the park. The line took a bit, but it wasn’t too bad. Plus, my free veteran park pass meant I didn’t have to pay. The main lots were full, so my goal of getting a picture at Mather Point wasn’t going to happen. I was feeling pretty good but not like walking a mile or two. Nor was I interested in riding the park shuttle. A quick stop at the Market Plaza allowed me to find a replacement pair of sunglasses for the drive to Phoenix. Then I drove over and found a hidden parking spot near Bright Angel. I might not have been able to get to Mather Point, but I wanted a couple of daytime pictures.
After that, I pointed the car south, and then west for a visit with my friend Mark and their partner in Prescott. Based on their suggestion, I was able to book a short massage the next day also. Seeing their town, laughing about life, and explaining the fun I had had the day before was a fantastic detour. After my massage, Mark and I grabbed lunch, we were able to swing by Beth’s shop for a goodbye, then I was off for the 2 hour drive to Phoenix airport and my flight home.
Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim is now done.
Will I go back again? Probably. I know a couple of people who are interested in doing Rim-to-Rim, and, well, though the experience has been achieved, and in my core I am entirely an experience junky, there’s that little thing about doing Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim with style, and speed, that is brewing at the back of my mind.
It’s just a little thought though.
At least it’s a little thought for now….
45.3 miles
10,710 feet of descent
10,310 feet of ascent
19 hours and 51 minutes

2024.05.31 21:39 MidwestMilo Found an easy, free/affordable technique that has helped me immensely with returning to the present moment AND practice gratitude - consistently.
Not sure if it made more sense to use the Resource flair or the Sharing/Insight flair but here goes.
I read a comment in the ADHD subreddit where the user described using a rubber band to practice culling negative thought spirals and focusing/returning to the moment. They would either snap their wrist or move the band from one side to the other. It is simply but seemingly effective.
So what if you want to do that but want a little more? Here is what I did: I ordered a customizable rubber bracelet on Amazon.
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT WORK FOR ANY SELLER OR COMPANY AND I AM NOT A SHILL.
I just selected a bracelet that was cheap (only $10) and would be delivered the fastest as I don’t have Prime. It got here about a week and a half ago in the mail.
Basically, you can put a customizable message (up to 25 characters per side) on both sides of the rubber bracelet and also choose from a variety of colors combinations, fonts, and symbols (like hearts, the peace sign, yin/yang, etc).
For mine, I wrote one side to a read “Om Mani Padme Hum” (to remind me to come back to the present moment). This has already started to become a regular habit especially when I am at work and feeling overwhelmed.
When it rotates around my wrist, either naturally as I move about, or if I move it myself, it says “I am grateful for…”. Which makes me think of something I am grateful for, usually something small and realistic (for example, today, I was grateful that I got to see a neighbor outside who has been sick for a while and couldn’t leave the house for several days. We got to catch up and talk about flowers and growing vegetables and it made me happy to see him recovering).
Again, I won’t tell which one to buy or provide any affiliate links. I don’t work for these people. But This was just a simple, easy purchase that has already made me feel a LOT more present and centered since I got it.
I sincerely hope this post helps somebody - and I’m sorry if this technique has been posted here before. I didn’t check before writing this whole thing up sooo…too late!😅
Peace and love!

2024.05.31 20:02 Secure_Drawer_4829 Trip Report: Introverted solo female traveler in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Yokohama
Hello everyone! Loved reading your trip reports before my trip, so wanted to contribute back to this supportive community!
About me: 26F, I travelled solo between May 13th and May 27th. I hit Tokyo (5 nights), Kyoto (4 nights), Osaka (3 nights), and Yokohama (1 night). I don't drink, so this report will have no mention of clubs, bars, dancing, etc. I tended to wake up early, walk over 20k steps, and wrap it up at 10PM. I'm from Toronto, and a visible minority.
Notably, I carried around a sketchbook, and drew in it around Japan! This was a great conversation starter and I had some pleasant interactions because people saw me drawing and were curious.
Plane ride + arrival
- Took AA to Chicago, JAL to Haneda.
- JAL was a comfortable economy flight. Unfortunately my screen froze :( So had to entertain myself.
- You may have heard that JAL gives free ice cream and snacks and miso soup, etc. But if you get a special meal, they refuse you all of those. I managed to ask for some but they drew the line at ice cream...sad.
- I slept on the plane (thank you, melatonin from stranger) so did not feel jet lagged upon arrival, but ended up with no appetite for almost 4 days. Couldn't eat at most of the places on my list as I felt sick thinking about eating them, all throughout my trip unfortunately.
- Getting a Welcome Suica from Haneda Terminal 3 was extremely easy. I took the Keikyuu line immediately after. Even with my luggage (normal sized carry on, backpack, cross body bag) and a train full of people, it was easy. (I'm used to subways in Toronto).
Tokyo
- Itinerary:
- 14th: Relax at hotel, walk around, eat.
- 15th: Shinjiku, Shibuya.
- 16th: Tsukiji fish market, Asakusa, Akihabara
- 17th: Kamakura day trip
- 19th: Ginza, Roppongi, leftover Tokyo Explore
- The subways feel exactly like the subways in Toronto, same noise level (light chatter)
- I generally followed the rule of walking on the left side, but still found it difficult to anticipate which way people would walk (and my goodness, the BIKES, they do whatever the heck they want!). After talking to two Japanese friends, they didn't seem to be aware of any unspoken rule to walk on the left. Maybe Toronto is just more anal about walking on the right.
- Following Google maps to a T, especially entrances and exits, made navigating the subway a breeze. I personally found Shinjuku station easy to navigate, but got lost at Shinagawa twice (due to Shinkansen vs. normal lines)! Fortunately the two times I had an issue with my Suica, I asked an attendant for help, gave them my card, and they sorted it within minutes.
- I felt like people in Tokyo were very kind and responsive to me. Had some pleasant interactions with Japanese people here and there (ex. someone complimented my earrings!). Met another traveler and we went for dinner together.
- It's difficult to describe why, and you may disagree, but: Tokyo felt surprisingly a lot like Toronto. I felt right at home in Tokyo.
- I'm very used to Japanese culture, language, food, etc. so didn't experience heavy culture shocks. I learned a wee bit of Japanese before coming (can hold super, duper simple broken conversations) so most of my interactions with service workers were in Japanese. As a result, I can't comment on how prevalent I found English. It's not necessary to use Japanese; this is simply how I conducted my trip, for fun.
- I stayed in Asakusa right outside Kuramae station and would highly recommend it. Super convenient, Sensoji was a 15 minute walk away, there were 2 convenience stores outside my hotel, it was amazing.
- Sensoji was so amazing I went there thrice! (Once in the day, once at night, once during the Sanja Matsuri festival).
- The fish market was my least favourite part of my entire trip. Everywhere in Tokyo was kind but everyone at the fish market felt cold, and I could feel like they were very impatient with tourists. It wasn't very lively when I went. To be honest, it brought down my mood heavily before Akihabara helped bring it back up. I bought bonito flakes here though.
- Ginza and Roppongi were kind of boring to me. Asakusa and Shibuya were tied for first place! Akihabara closely second. Shibuya had a very youthful vibe and a contagious energy.
- The Kamakura day trip was one of the highlights of my trip. I sat by the ocean for an hour. When I went to Hokokuji temple and went to the tea house (recommended), two Japanese coworkers saw me drawing and we talked in Japanese (I studied a wee bit before coming). They drove me to Hase Dera after and wished me well! Hase Dera was BEAUTIFUL, highly recommend.
- I did a taiyaki making experience at Gurako in Asakusa and highly recommend it. It was so fun and I learned how to make taiyaki. I bought a taiyaki fry pan and made some at home!
- Tokyo had way less DBZ merch than I'd hoped... :(
- Unpopular opinion: I preferred Kura to Sushiro.
Kyoto
- Itinerary:
- May 19th: Shinkansen to Kyoto, explore
- May 20th: Arashiyama, Saga Toriimoto Preserved Street, Adashino Nenbutsu-ji, Otagi Nenbutsuji, Monkey Park
- May 21st: Fushimi inari, kimono rental, Gion, Kiyomizu-dera, Yasaka Pagoda
- May 22nd: Uji
- Incredibly easy to buy a reserved shinkansen ticket on the spot with my credit card. Just use the machines, they're very clear.
- Somehow got on the wrong shinkansen despite being at the right platform and double checking with an attendant. I think the problem was my train was ex. at 11:15AM but the train on the platform was 11:10AM and going somewhere else, and I didn't check the time. Easy solution: got off at the next stop and took the train behind it, which was the correct train! Double check the time!
- Kyoto people did not feel colder at first, but I felt the difference when I went to Osaka.
- I started my walk just outside the bridge near the monkey park, and walked all the way to Otagi Nenbutsuji through the preserved street. This whole walk only took like an hour, hour and a half one way. Completely doable in one day and I didn't feel rushed at all. I highly recommend Otagi and Adashino, there was barely a crowd and I was alone many times!
- Monkey park is a hike in and of itself...a very long one...please buy water at the bottom!
- I thought I would absolutely love Kyoto but I found it a bit boring? I got templed out quickly (though I did do the goshuincho, got 5!). Walking around Arashiyama was nice and I actually managed to touch 2 mini bamboo groves before the "main" one? They were all pretty.
- I do not recommend the philosophers walk. It's just like...a path, next to a river.
- Shockingly I preferred the Kamo River to the Katsura river. The Kamo river felt livelier, being surrounded by the shopping street and street performers.
- Uji was quieter and more boring than I hoped it would be. I did have amazing matcha there of course. But I walked all the spots that the tourist map recommended and it was just okay, just a nice and peaceful walk. Very pretty though. I waited until I got back to Kyoto to have dinner.
- I think I speed-ran Fushimi inari? I got to the "top" of the trail in less than an hour. I was on the main trail but when I got to the "top" there were no further paths. Two groups of tourists also seemed confused. I ended up going back down but the walk that I did do was very impressive and beautiful despite it being busy.
- HIGHLY RECOMMEND RENTING A KIMONO! I felt so beautiful and it was so comfy! I walked throughout Gion and Kiyomizu-dera and Yasaka Pagoda and it was all just so beautiful. This was the most packed part of the trip, people absolutely mashed together.
Osaka
- Itinerary:
- May 23rd: Local train to Osaka, dinner with friend
- May 24th: Meet with other friend
- May 25th: Nara day trip, mount Wakakusa
- I never expected this, but...Osaka was my favourite part of the four places I visited (it helped that I had two friends to visit here but I'm referring specifically to "vibes/feel" of the city). Dotonbori was pleasant to walk along, with the water. The streets were lively. People seemed happier and more fun. I enjoyed walking everywhere here, felt like I absorbed the upbeat energy of everyone around me.
- Nara was AMAZING! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I thought it would be just deer, too, but the walk around is beautiful! I highly, highly, highly recommend climbing Mount Wakakusa (I began at I believe the South Entrance?) The views from the top of that gentle mountain hike were unreal. There are 3 "legs" to the mountain, each higher than the previous, all with breath-taking views and with lazy deer relaxing after a day of eating tourist biscuits. Met and chatted with a family at the top of the mountain. Mount Wakakusa was one of the highlights of my entire Japan trip.
Yokohama
- Itinerary:
- May 26th: Shinkansen to Yokohama, meet friend
- May 27th: Flight back home (except not really because I was denied boarding due to an overbooked flight despite checking in 2 hours in advance and online the night before, so they put me in the fancy Haneda hotel with free dinner, breakfast, and onsen and spa access, and gave me a travel credit...I'm not complaining!)
- Yokohama was very beautiful! The sea air was incredibly fresh. I spent ages walking around, staring right into the strong wind, closing my eyes, smelling that intoxicating sea smell.
- Visited China town and it was nice. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it but it was good, had good food.
- The amusement park is so cute. I went on the ferris wheel ("Cosmo Clock 21") for 1000 yen, highly recommend! The day I went the roller coaster wasn't running due to rain but it looked really fun!
- Walked into cup museum, decided against paying to enter. Looks fun for kids though.
- Met a mutual on Twitter who didn't speak a lick of English, and I didn't speak a lick of Japanese, but we talked for 8 hours via google translate...went for dinner, drew together, walked around and saw the Red Brick Warehouse, went for coffee, drew again, talked more...it was amazing.
- I would recommend Yokohama for sure, at least the night before a flight back to Haneda as it was easy to get there via bus.
Flight back
- Got to try an onsen for the first time (unintended) as I got free spa access due to my delayed flight. Very relaxing, especially with the crisp night sea air above me and the steamy hot bath below me.
- Was not as awkward as I thought it would be. I adjusted very fast.
- Got some milk from the vending machine and felt so incredibly blessed!
- On the way back, I was not given JAL but was given American Airlines (AA). Somehow it was actually way better and more comfortable than my JAL flight, with better food, despite JAL being voted best economy (or so I've heard). So if you need to take an AA flight to Japan, no worries!
- The jet lag back is real...ugh.
Miscellaneous comments
- The only people I heard use "Domo Arigato" were very old white men, haha. If you want to learn only the bare minimum, use "arigatou gozaimasu" for "thank you", "kore" for "this", and "onegaishimasu" for "please". You'll be golden.
- I used quite a lot of cash. I would say 60% card, 40% cash.
- Welcome suica (physical card) was super convenient.
- I used Ubigi which activated as soon as I landed. Super smooth usage aside from a bit spotty in Osaka. I bought the 3 gb which I used quickly, then the 10 gb which I didn't finish. Going back, I'd just get 10 gb.
- My luggage situation: one small rolling suitcase, one duffel bag (which I crammed in the rolling suitcase on the way there and filled with clothes and checked in on the way back), a backpack, and a small crossbody. I didn't buy many souvenirs or merch so this was perfect for me.
- I only eat halal. I found it relatively easy to eat pescatarian (which I just assumed to be halal; I'm not super strict about things like mirin for example) there. There were some halal ramen places which were good, and I had a halal wagyu beef rice bowl. I don't like beef in general so wagyu was okay...too fatty for me. But overall, no trouble finding food.
- 7-11 runs at the end of the day were some of the highlights of my days. (But the food is not as mind-blowing as everyone will have you believe, I mean it's still convenience food!)
- Over-researching spoiled my trip somewhat. Ironically to those of you who already finished reading this...I recommend against over-researching.
If I remember anything else, I'll add it.
Overall, a wonderful, fun, relaxing trip! Can't wait to book a second!
EDIT: Extra things that came to mind:
- In Tokyo, I stayed in Asakusa (Toyoko Inn Asakusa Kuramae No. 2). In Kyoto, I stayed at a location a bit of a walk from the station but the bus stopped right in front (Hedistar Hotel). In Osaka, I stayed in Namba about a 10 minute walk away from Dotonburi (Hotel Asiato). In Yokohama, I stayed near Sakuragicho station (Sotetsu Fresa Sakuracigho). I did free breakfast for all except the last. The breakfast was heavily Japanese which I wasn't used to but hey, free food!
- Beds were very firm in all these hotels but personally I love firm mattresses.
- A good place to get breakfast are the chain restaurants Komeda, Tullys, Dotour. They have "morning sets" of toast, egg, and coffee that are lovely. Komeda was my favourite.
- I used Booking.com for all 4 of my bookings. I actually rebooked the same dates and rooms for slightly cheaper later as Booking.com had seem my 4 bookings and gave me discounts when I canceled and rebooked them a few months later (?). Anyways, I downloaded the app and had all my bookings on there. Super easy to manage and an easy way to contact the hotels about things like early check-in where calling in Japanese would be difficult.
- All places let me store my luggage free of charge after check-out. Took advantage of this to check-out, have breakfast at my leisure, then calmly come and take my suitcases to head on the shinkansen. I ensured my itinerary was organized such that I never took my luggage to any tourist attractions or restaurants, only ever in transit or stored with the hotel. Less stress!
- Gacha is so expensive....400 or 500 yen a pop (about $4 or $5).
- Don quijote was a magical experience every time...I went there every time I needed to be loaded with dopamine and overstimulated
- Eating was my favoruite part of Japan. The food everywhere is delicious. Don't be afraid to try other cuisines. I had Indonesian cuisine for the first time here and it was amazing! I made it a point to have ice cream almost every day. Hey, it's a vacation!
- "Buy things as you see them, don't wait to see them again" was a very useful rule, as maybe 7/10 times I never saw the thing again.
- Don't worry about all the "unspoken rules" you see around the internet like "Never ever ever do this one thing in Japan!!" Japanese people themselves break them all the time, they're just people, not a different species.
- I found the large amount of "NO PHOTOS!" laminated signs scattered everywhere very uncomfortable (peoples residential houses, shrines and statues, peoples shops, etc. had multiple ugly signs taped everywhere over their beautiful locations). Not in the sense that I wanted to take pictures and felt scolded, but almost like somewhere along the line Japan becane some giant amusement park and people were fighting back, wanting privacy. The thought of some poor grandma wanting privacy and looking outside to see hoards of tourists snapping photos of her windows only for her to get fed up and stick 5 "NO PHOTOS" signs all over her front entrance...makes me feel weird and sad.

605 angel number meaning is very powerful. It is assembled from the numbers 6, 0 and 5 and therefore has incredible meaning when it comes to love, spiritual and general significance of life. If you are seeing 605 angel number repeating or one of the other sequences than the divine is trying to send you signs. For more angel number interpretations, check out our vibrant subreddit:
https://www.reddit.com/AngelNumbersMeanings/
605 angel number meaning Angel number 6: is a secret code for house and close band of people in your life like family and friends. It denotes one of the big values in your life which is tradition, safety and everything that is linked to family members. You are a home person, you like to spend most of the time with the people that you already know.
You might find it difficult to be comfortable around strangers or to meet new people. the angels wants you to know, that although there are some risk involved in meeting new people, you still should do it with the right caution. Start with small steps to expand the social circle. Some people might turn to be new best friends and other will not. This is how it goes in life – you win some and you loose some. But overall consider being more social and mingle with other people than those you are already know right now.
Angel number 0: has a deep spiritual meaning, it symbolizes the vibrations of the world. Not everyone can feel them, but if you will develop your sixth sense and start to be more spiritual and / or develop psychic abilities you might start to receive those energies and will be able to interpret the meaning of them. Angels, spirits and god don’t communicate only by sending numbers, they have other means of communication and vibrations are one of them. The angels encourage you to growth and be more open minded and receive signs in other forms as well because they have lots of things to tell.
Another 605 angel number meaning is that it is the right time to go on a spiritual enlightenment process. During this phase you will not only learn how to develop psychic reading skills, but you will have to make many decisions which will have long term influence. The consequences are likely to be positive as the angels are here to guide and provide more information and directions during the chosen path.
Angel number 5: is related to the whole meaning of 605 angel number and adds the need to make decisions. Decisions are major principle in life, if you got it right than most of the things will generate positive future outcomes as gifts from god. The angels in the skies would like to inform you to not fear of being decisive. Sometimes it is better to make a certain choice than not doing anything at all. We are being rewarded base on the actions we take and not by our thoughts alone. Although ideas, inspirations and intuition are very crucial, if it doesn’t has an end result in the physical world than it will disappear.
With 605 angel number, take one step further, don’t get stuck in endless thinking patterns. After you gained enough information go and take action. Do it as a controlled experiment, something small that doesn’t involve a big risk, just for the sake of doing something new. For example if you have a day of go for a job interview on other company, maybe it will open a door for a new career, go to a seminar or university to learn a new hobby or skill, visit new places and basically search for new opportunities.
605 angel number symbolism 605 angel number symbolism through history was mainly related to be generous. Angels and good spirits has always been associated with helping the human kind. So by giving to others you actually become a guardian angel yourself like Uriel and Zadkiel.
Also be happy with you have right now, it might be a lot and it might be not too much, but the angels wants to suggest to stop wanting and wanting things which will not convoy happiness. Be grateful for everything you achieved until this very moment and realize that you are fine and in fact you don’t really need to pursue new material possessions or extreme experiences.
Remember that life can take you to bad direction, you could encounter problems and obstacles which will make you miserable for years. So basically right now you are lucky because you don’t have too many worries in mind. It is also a good advice to not think about the past too much because it can’t be changed, we don’t have a time machine. It is much productive to vision the future and build it logically step by step.
The angels are sending you the number 605 because they want you to realize that you are unique person. So don’t compare yourself to others. It doesn’t matter what they are doing as long as you focus on personal goals and spiritual fulfilment. This will only create negative energies like jealousy and other bad emotions. Don’t waste effort of pretending, being fake and compete over mundane stuff like who has a bigger house, better profession or more friends. The important thing is that you are going in a direction that is good for your karma, live life as you want it to be.
Symbolism of angel number 605 includes stable substructure. Through many scribes, legends and folk stories 605 is an origin symbol of strength, the power to endure difficulties for a long time and than to overcome them a winner. Heroes have been fighting monsters, travelled in scary worlds and went to wars, only those who really wanted to come back safe, has made it. To survive on earth there is a need to be much stronger in the inside of the personality, not only physically.
Keep in mind that all the people in the world are so how connected to one another, so when they perceive you as someone who is stable and powerful they will like to be around, so if you will listen to the 605 angel number symbolism, you might discover that you are a natural leader. Hence, don’t be passive, get to be more active and in the end you might find yourself influencing on the human kind, at small or large scale.
605 angel number spiritual meaning 605 angel number spiritual meaning is endless energy and abundance. The basic explanation suggests you should not stop. If you have started some project than complete it, do it until there are substantial result, don’t quit. Quitting is for those who are too weak to endure the burden. They will never get to the point they want to be, always complaining and playing the victim. This is not a good road to walk, prove the world that you are build from a better material. Seeing 605 angel number is a definitive sign to complete a task until it’s completely done.
One example for endless energy or vibration is the concept of souls. Many people believe that after death the soul is transformed to another form or new places like heaven, hell and the sky. Moreover they believe in reincarnation, meaning that we can come back here to earth after death. The basic concept of this point of view is that the soul is an endless source of vibration.
In addition the spiritual meaning of flowing is also amplified with 605 angel number. When you flow it basically mean to understand that you can not control every tiny aspect. There are many other factors and reasons why certain events occur and usually we can not do anything about it as we are not the only players. Don’t strive to brutally enforce change on yourself or people around because it will only lead to undesired opposite outcomes.
The angels are sending you explicit instructions as quotes to stop seeking perfection and protection. Nothing is flawless and if we would wait for the perfect soulmate or twin flame or perfect job offer to come it might not come eventually. It is better to search for what is perfect for this current moment. If it is good enough for now than take it and work the way up with what is available near by.
The number zero is at the center of 605 angel number, so your main priority should be spiritual development in form of soul healing. Although you gained many experiences until now, nothing can really prepare you for a spiritual journey, there are new concept and wisdom to be learned. Always remember that life is about cycles, the beginning is also the end and vice versa. It means that you already know from inside what are the wishes and hopes, in fact in this sense life is very predictable and self awareness might reveal the future of the journey.
605 angel number in love 605 angel number in love signifies a romantic person. They take any relationship in a serious matter. They devote themselves to family and raising children. However in love there is no only romance and happiness because sometimes it is little difficult to be around them.
If you are seeing number 605 repeatedly than you tend to be a little tensed or irritated. In love and relationship it might be a major obstacle. If you will over react than sooner or later you might end up in a break up or a divorce. 605 is a sign from the divine to be more relax and flexible. Another suggestion is to be more traditional and do things in the old fashion way. You are someone who likes simple things and nostalgia, by creating this kind of environment the relationship might last for longer time.
If you have been burned out in previous relationship than it becomes more and more difficult for you to start a new one. The healing of the heart will take few months and even up to a year. As a serious person you also don’t enter too fast into romance or new connection, you take the time and deicide to do it only after you are sure for 100% that this is the right choice.
605 angel number in love means that soulmates or twin flames are very cardinal and they should be protected and loved at all cause. Hence sometime you might like to have the role of a hero or a saver or just help your spouse. Make sure not to force it on them, take into consideration that sometimes we can not help people if they are not willing to accept our guidance. Don’t take in too personally just let it go and wait till they will be more comfortable to open themselves.
In love 605 represents being a loyal partner because it contains the number 5. They will not waste their time on a person they don’t feel good around. This is also why they like to meet as much people as possible before deciding who will be their next lover. But once they made up their mind, they will not change it and live with him or her forever as they believe in unconditional love.
605 angel number twin flame 605 angel number twin flame is about computability. If you are keep getting this number than the angels are giving you a bold sign to know who you are compatible with because he or she might enter to your life very soon.
605 is a sign that you don’t want to live alone, in fact values like marriage, partnership and friendship are really predominant. A twin flame gives you confidence and security and this is why it is crucial you will find someone who is a perfect match. Being with the wrong person might have bigger negative impact. Stability is something very basic within your point of view, hence it must be taking care of completely.
Accordingly you are most compatible with people who have the following life path numbers: 2, 3, 4 and 9. If a person is somehow related to numbers 5, 6, 7 he or she are not the right twin flame. You will not be able to live with him or her, they are the complete opposite and it will become a nightmare. Number 1 and 8 can go either way it depends on how much work you and the partner want to put into the success of the love relationship.
What does 605 mean in angel number? another value that is important for you is idealism. It is crucial when we are talking about twin flames. You have a vision of the ideal relationship or what does it means to be a couple who both of them are in love. It is like a dream or a sweet wish that need to be fulfilled. If it will come true than great, but if it will be a shuttered dream it might cause you sorrow for a long time. Therefore 605 angel number encourages you to keep on dreaming and searching for a twin flame, but bare in mind that there will also be disappointments.
Significance of 605 angel number numerology What is the Significance of 605 angel number in numerology? This is a bright indication of willpower. The angels want you to increase the willpower because you have a big mission to complete. Even if you don’t know it yet, something big is coming and you will have to play your cards right. Willpower is the key words of the angel sign in that case.
In order to build a great willpower there are few things that need to be done. First, don’t be overwhelmed by the destiny or path. Start small with tiny steps, complete small chores and be very alerted with all the little details even if they look unimportant or useless. The future is yet to be revealed, so don’t stop in the middle, there is much hard work ahead.
The significance of self-reliance is another personality trait and virtue that 605 angel number is all about. You should be more independent, don’t leave critical stuff to luck or randomness. In truth trust no one as every person on earth has his or her own motive. When someone is giving an advice, he or she usually talking more about what they wish to have or do, rather than actually about something that will fit perfectly for you. They don’t do it because they are bad or manipulative by definition, but because they see themselves first.
605 angel number means resourcefulness and creativity. There is a high chance that you have artistic skill or going to be an entrepreneur. When it comes to numerology number 605 indicates doing new things. You have the ability to think out of the box and find creative solution to problems.
This is the time to chase the dreams you always had, if you are on a mundane job which doesn’t brings you happiness as it was in the past, consider to seek another occupation, something fun and fresh. People who stay all their life with the same job or place don’t have enough challenges in life, in reality they are a sleep through all the time. The routine make their life really boring, they focus too much on monetary security and stability rather than enjoying life and do meaningful stuff, this is their trade of.
Everything in life can be seen as a lesson we learn. The things we know today are the experiences of the past. The significance of 605 angel number is reminding us to act upon the knowledge we gained. In numerology 605 number is related to number two which is a symbol of sensitivity and not only about logic and brain calculation. 6 + 0 + 5 = 11, 1 + 1 = 2. 2024.05.31 03:04 BOfficeStats Domestic BOT Presale Tracking (May 30). Thursday Previews: Bad Boys ($3.85M/$5.10M EA+THU), The Watchers ($0.89M), Inside Out 2 ($8.65M) and Deadpool and Wolverine ($30.46M).
BoxOfficeTheory Presale Tracking USA Showtimes As of May 30 Presales Data (Google Sheets Link) BoxOfficeReport Previews Quorum Update (May 29) DOMESTIC PRESALES Bad Boys: Ride or Die Average Thursday / EA+Thursday comp: $3.85M/$5.10M - abracadabra1998 (Comp: $2.61M THU. All these comps had been on sale for longer, so those will go up, with the exception of Civil War, which went on sale at T-18 so that'll go down. Feels like a walk-up movie so it's hard to find good comps (May 19). Numbers are from last THU, as per my post this morning. This is a more walk-up movie a la Aquaman or Apes so I think it's a pretty good start (May 18). Pretty good start for it honestly (May 16).)
- el sid (Counted yesterday for Thursday had 395 sold tickets with shows in 6 theaters (the small AMC Lakeline in Texas is still missing). 10 days left. Bad Boys for Life (6.36M from previews) had on Monday of the release week 915 sold tickets = 43% at the moment for Bad Boys 4 with 7 days left to come closer or maybe overtake. My guess is that BB4 could have 800-1000k tickets by next Monday, so it could be pretty much on par with BBfL. Similar to other reports here: BB4 does not have stellar presales and after several disappointments I shouldn't exaggerate but compared to the best comps it looks quite good for BB4 as you can see (May 28).)
- Flip (Decided to add one more theater but there was good growth in both of the original two (May 27).)
- katnisscinnaplex (Comp: $5.1M EA+THU.)
- keysersoze123 (Still at very low pace (May 30). Presales are again not that much at this point. I think its not going to hit the heights of last movie (May 28). It should start to amp up sometime this week (May 27). This wont be fan driven. Even the last one initially trailed Dr Do little in presales but amped up big time close to release. This will be a late bloomer. I am still expecting 50m+ OW (May 23).)
- TheFlatLannister (Comp: $5.35M THU. Excellent jump today. Starting to see the acceleration (May 29). Steady pace, no acceleration yet. Switch to G x K since that had super strong walkups ($6.12M THU comp) and Bad Boys 4 will likely replicate this (May 27). Comps ($4.11M) would mean $40M+ Opening Weekend (May 24). Well, this is a pretty good start (May 17).)
- TwoMisfits (Aging male-skewing franchises tend to get the biggest bump from this deal. Folks are on the fence but know what they are getting. Female skewing non-sequel ones tend to get zero help. You need baseline interest to get people willing to pay anything, b/c these still are $5. The other effect of the deal is that movies releasing around the $5 hits sometimes get hurt. June TMobile $5 Atom movie. This could help it go huge, like last year's Spider-Verse (May 22).)
- vafrow (Comp: $3.6M THU. A bounceback day that helped undo some of the damage from earlier this week (May 29). It's not having a great week. It's slowly slipping against comps, when the hope was that it would be gaining. New showtimes went up for the Thursday, and it's only gotten one additional screen. It's the 4DX screen, which makes sense, as what else justifies a 4DX screen at this stage (May 29). It's staying pretty flat (May 28). Zero sales day when all comps seemed to have done well. Not a great result. Note: This isn't a holiday weekend in Canada, so that doesn't explain the slow sales. Hopefully it's just an anomaly. This has been very steady to date (May 27). Ghostbusters and Apes both went up in comps, but I didn't have Hunger Games included, so it's brought the average down. Still, its growing at a steady pace (May 26). I still expect this to be more walk up friendly than the comps being used, and should see a gradual rise as the date gets closer (May 25). Nothing of note here. Staying steady. Will probably pick up only in the final week (May 20). Comps are not the greatest. One, surprisingly hard to find a comparable film with similar start on sales. Plus, I think ticket buying patterns have changed pretty drastically in my market over the last few months. Very little up front sales compared to late 2023. Dune was the exception (May 17).)
- YM! (Like IO2 the pace for Bad Boys is small but mighty. EA is only available at Majestic much like Garfield. With EA, it’s a few tickets shy of Furiosa’s T-6 but without them it’s only a bit over half. Either way both is really good. I think we’ll continue to see the gap grow over the week but as of rn, I am thinking around $6-7m previews without EA solely on vibes to an OW north of $55m (May 25). Same thing as IO2 for Bad Boys (see May 23 IO2 comment), I expect this to not only skew more GA friendly and should bulk up ticket sales as we get closer to release. It’s almost at half of Furiosa’s T-6 which is a pretty great thing. Should easily outdo it by T-6 imho (May 23). Again, another solid start-ish. I expect Bad Boys to have the most diverse audience. Can't really predict much on previews but I am feeling confident in the 55-60m OW range for the past few weeks (May 17).)
The Watchers Average Thursday Comp: $0.89M - el sid (Had a pretty muted start in my theaters. Yesterday 37 tickets were sold for Thursday, May 6, and today it were 44 (with showtimes in 5 theaters). Comps (always counted for Thursday):Tarot (715k from previews) had with 6 days left 28 sold tickets. The First Omen (725k) had with 8 days left also 28 sold tickets. Abigail (1M) had with 6 days left 97 sold tickets. And The Strangers: Chapter One (1.2M) had on Monday of the release week 215 sold tickets. I don't think that The Watchers can reach the presales number of The Strangers, maybe half of that (= ca. 100 sold tickets next Monday). So at the moment I go with around 500k from previews for The Watchers (May 30).)
- filmlover (Hasn't sold anything near me (May 26).)
- Flip (These are good numbers considering it’s only playing in 2/3 theaters I track (May 28).)
- katnisscinnaplex ($0.89M THU Comp.)
The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Re-Releases (June 8-10) - BoxOfficePro (Fathom Events has also announced that select Regal Cinemas will present the films in 4DX on June 22/23/24 for Fellowship/Towers/Return respectively (May 14).)
- AnthonyJPHer (Fellowship of the Ring (269 tickets, 6 showtimes, 4 theaters) on Saturday, June 8, 2024 and Saturday, June 15, 2024 (21 tickets, 4 showings, 4 theaters). The Two Towers (243 tickets, 4 theaters) Saturday, June 9, 2024 and Saturday, June 16, 2024 (22 tickets, 4 showings, 4 theaters). Return of the King (281 tickets, 4 theaters) for Saturday, June 10, 2024 and Saturday, June 17, 2024 (16 tickets, 4 showings, 4 theaters). 852 tickets sold in total. 793 tickets sold for the first week. 59 tickets sold for the second week (May 28).)
- katnisscinnaplex (Up to ~1,400 shows now with new locations picking it up and others adding a second showing. LotR1 has sold 831 seats OD, LotR2 sold 715 seats OD, and LotR3 sold 735 seats OD. For comparison, Phantom Menace didn't break 800 tickets until T-3 and we're still over a month out. JW3 comp is currently around 9m (it was at 1,670 tickets sold at this point!) (May 6).)
Inside Out 2 Average Thursday Comp: $8.65M - NRG (Now tracking for $85M domestic debut (May 30).)
- abracadabra1998 (Comp: $3.98M THU. Good update, hopefully this keeps on rising (May 23). Not impressed at all so far here sadly (May 19).)
- AniNate (Finally a little movement here. 23 Thursday, 52 Fri-Sun (compared to 18 THU and 23 FRI-SUN on May 17) (May 22). Safe to say the fan rush has ended, and it might not be immediately on casual family and radar when they're making memorial Day plans and there are two other kids movies out or about to be out (May 19).)
- AnthonyJPHer (Some growth for THU, not bad but I expect sales to increase steadily as we get closer to release day. The presales are good enough to not be a disaster like Garfield, but not big enough to guarantee a 100m opening. I still like what I’m seeing though. As my local theater has finally shown some signs of life with this film. 5 tickets sold. Way better than Garfield at the same point. The numbers might not be completely accurate, but it’s looking extremely strong for Friday. 900 tickets for the five theaters I track. Maybe even 1,286 tickets if my numbers are accurate. That tells me this is not front loaded whatsoever. Or at the very least not preview heavy (May 27). Out of the 4 tracked theaters, there is at least 774 tickets sold out of 1000+ seats. Blown Garfield out of the water (~200 tickets from the theaters I tracked). At least 3 sold out (or close to sold out) showings for Inside Out 2. Looking good for Inside Out 2. Of course this might just be fan surge and all. I was looking at the THU previews in a theater near me. There is an almost completely sold out showing. Out of 195 seats, 175 were sold. Where I live there seems to be real interest. I counted about more than 400 tickets sold on THU for theaters near me, kind of shocked me (May 19).)
- charlie Jatinder (Comp: $12.33M THU at MTC2. Moving along nicely (May 21).)
- Flip (Decided to add one more theater but there was good growth in both of the original two (May 27). Fan event on the 16th has 43 tickets sold from 2 showtimes (compared to 8 showtimes and 73 tickets sold for previews), so that might be depressing previews a bit.)
- katnisscinnaplex (Comp: $6.37M THU. Early sales haven't been there lately except for the extreme fans. $12.27M Mario comp (May 18).)
- keysersoze123 (If you compare this to any animation movies seen recently including Minions, its doing very well. Really good this far out for sure (May 25). Chugging along at this point (May 19). Show counts show Plexes are expecting a big OW. I dont remember when we last had a animation movie start with so many shows. I wont count Mario as that was a fan driven movie. Definitely not great presales but this is not a fan driven movie. Let us see where things are in the final week (May 15).)
- Porthos (BAD COMPS: $8.65M THU. I literally have zero good comps for IO2 right now. I generally don't keep track of sub-5m pure kids animated films until right before release (if even then), so the exact genre matches are out. IO2 is too backloaded (or rather NOT frontloaded) for the AtSVs of the world to make much sense. IO2 had a (too) long (by half) pre-sale window which is wrecking a whole bunch of other slightly more plausible comps. If I had a complete track of KFP4, that'd probably help a great deal. So I have a ton of.... less than ideal comps where none of them are probably point in the right direction. Maaaaaaaybe Wonka might be the best of the bad batch there. But, as often the case with films that should be very backloaded, won't really know how backloaded they are until the week of release. (will note that IO2 does seem to be picking up a hint of steam right now. Which should bode well for its overall ticket total). Horror is, along side pure kids animation, THE most backloaded genre there is when it comes to pre-sales. The ATP for the Nope comp will be wrecked (and then some), but the pace should be very instructive. It also helps that the name recognition for Jordan Peele led to slightly stronger than usual pre-sales for a non-franchise horror installment which should map fairly well with the in-built name recognition of IO2. Is complicated by the fact that Nope had an even longer pre-sale window than IO2, but that might help counterbalance some of the ATP errors involved. Won't be a good comp at the end. But right now, might be one of the better ones, especially to show the insane growth that should be on the table for IO2. I don't think it's much of a coincidence that it's one of the few comps I have right now that is pointing to double digit previews (May 30). I don't agree with the undertone of concern when it comes to ticket sales for IO2. They seem perfectly fine to me, maybe even somewhat strong. It just isn't selling like a frontloaded CBM/fan driven franchise (even when adjusting for animation). So I suppose it really comes down to how much we think this will still act like a traditional kids animation film when it comes to buying pattern, how much demand has been burnt off, and how many people are still going to buy tickets but see no particular need to buy them early. Which I suppose really can't be answered until we get close to the time when kids animation films typically accelerate. But, I keep looking at the sales in Sacramento and not seeing much cause for concern. Yet, at any rate (May 25). Decided to add Nope ($12.62M) to the comp block. Not because I think it's a particularly good one (the ATP differences alone are a major red flag), but more for pace considerations considering how similar horror and kids animation are when it comes to being backloaded. The other consideration with Nope is that it was on sale for nearly two weeks longer, so it did have a small amount of extra time to pad some seats sold. But maybe the errors (ATP vs length of pre-sale) will cancel each other out. PROBABLY NOT! But the pace at the very least should be interesting (May 25). 10.0% Matinee sales, 5.3% 3D sales and 42.2% PLF sales. (May 19). Strange pre-sale pattern. Was there some sort of promo that dropped today? Either way, just a great day (for this type of movie at this point in pre-sales) (May 17). Fairly strong day. Was concentrated at a couple of theaters (May 16). On the SAT of release weekend (NOT EA) there is a special event screening for IO2: INSIDE OUT 2: FUNKO FAMILY EVENT! (2024) Sat June 15th. Might boost OW slightly depending on how wide this event is and how much more these tickets will presumably cost (May 11).)
- Skim Beeble (I don't know if it's just me, but starting June 20th PLF showings for Inside Out 2 are stopping after around 4 PM. Is there possibly a surprise release coming or is it just a scheduling showtime thing from the chains. (This is AMC) (May 29).)
- TheFlatLannister (Comp: $8.52M THU Florida and $7.57M THU Orlando Comp. Excellent pace this far out. Does feel like something big is around the corner (May 27). Definitely the biggest rollout in showings since I've started tracking Florida. Bigger than even Dune 2 and it's only T-26 (May 18).)
- vafrow (Comp: $12.5M THU. Take the comps with a grain of salt. The low numbers on IF and Garfield really throw things off. Numbers were flat all week before a jump in the last day (May 29). It's starting to grow (May 25). I'm surprised this hasn't been stronger. At this stage, I don't expect we'll see much activity until final week (May 19). No new sales. Whatever glitches in the system on day 1 didn't push sales to day 2. I still think the lack of base ticket options will push families to wait. Cineplex has jacked up the cost of PLFs, plus they're throwing in an increase for opening weekend of major releases. It adds up quickly for families (May 16).)
- YM! (Using Keysersoze123's earlier MTC1 data, the pace is pretty good. $6.74M average THU comp. The same caveats apply (higher ATP than the other animations due to older skew and PLFs but having lower ATP than TLM as that skews older and likely has more of audience to buy upfront, and Wish being on Discount Tuesday muddies things up) but the important thing is that pace healthy and gainer ground against its comparisons. Feel like tracking is right on the money of 75-85m OW but could grow stronger if pace continues strong and reviews are strong (May 26). The pace is moving nicely as we have about two and a half weeks left. Think there’s potential for ticket count pace to grow strongly. I have no comparisons but it is at Garfield’s EA-less T-3 ticket sales. Going to probably not say much on preview predictions but my thoughts of an OW in between 75m-100m still stand. Not much to make of things until we get to around 2 weeks for rudimentary guessing and opening week for figuring things out (May 25). Little has changed as IO2 keeps on trucking along. I do theorize at least from the 250 ticket selling Funko Event, it’s plausible families and fans went for that date instead of Thursday night previews. Not much to make of things until we get to around 2 weeks for rudimentary guessing and opening week for figuring things out. At the very least, I like that it doubled its previous sales a week ago as it shows pace and outdid Garfield’s T-6 (May 23). Did some snooping around for the Funko Event as I was curious if perhaps families getting presales for the opening Saturday vs opening Thursday as those sales are kind of weak Thursday and uhm it’s at 250 tickets. Which is like 5 times Garfield’s EA showing of 50 tickets all at PLF prices despite normal theaters. Most of which at 9:30 AM with only one theater having it at 11:00 AM (May 22). Based on keysoze123's Elemental, Wish, Little Mermaid, and Kung Fu Panda 4 preview data, $5.66M THU comp and $22.2M FRI comp. Not a fan of the average comp (Disney has underperformed at MTC2 so not within history to rely on it overperforming like KFP4 and IF) but really like the True FRI although it is very inconsistent. Not sure if IO2 would jump that high from the THU average. However, there’s a lot of variable since: 1. TLM should skew more towards young adults than families by nature which should make ATP higher. 2. IO2 should and does have a higher ATP than either Wish, KFP4 or Elemental due to total PLF control and presumably skews a bit older. 3. Wish was on Discount TUES so that should muddy up the comparisons. 4. The comparisons apart from Elemental are either days before or days behind. 5. Both Wish and KFP4 opened outside the summer season so internal multiplier will be different (especially with Wish’s five day) due to how summer and fall have entirely different natures in walkups which leaves just TLM/Elemental as viable comparisons. It does show that IO2 should at least open above 65m? (May 20). Seems IO2 is playing more like a kid's animation than a family event. Pretty solid for what it is. Majestic is healthy and about 66% of Garfield T-6. Thinking anywhere from 75m-100m OW rn (May 17).)
The Bikeriders - Pinacolada (Actually sold some around me. It does seem like Focus is giving it kind of a shitty release though. Small screens. Definitely no PLFs, which 20th Century Studios was gonna get it Dolby back when they had it. There's 3 theaters really near me. Only 1 of them has this on sale as of now, though the other 2 theaters may come later? (May 26).)
A Quiet Place: Day One - Flip (Has a fan event on the same day of previews, PLF only (May 30).)
Deadpool and Wolverine Average Thursday Comp using TheFlatLannister's Dune2+GOTG3 comp: $30.46M - AMC ("Some 200,000 movie fans have bought their AMC tickets already. This is more Day 1 ticket sales at AMC than for any other R-rated movie ever." Insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter that first-day sales are likely around $8 million to $9 million if extrapolating the 200,000 stat cited by Aron (May 22).)
- DEADLINE (Already heating up eight weeks before its debut, having already collected some $8M in first day ticket sales. $8M is pretty remarkable for an R-rated movie two months before release. While there are no direct comps on Deadpool & Wolverine ticket sales in post-Covid history, its current cash bests the 24-hour advance ticket sales of The Batman ($6.5M), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($6M) and John Wick: Chapter 4 ($1.4M). The Batman and GOTG3 opened to respective 3-day weekends of $134M and $118.4M (May 22).)
- FANDANGO (Broke Fandango’s best first-day ticket sales record for 2024. Best first-day pre-seller from the Deadpool franchise (May 21).)
- abracadabra1998 (Day 1/2 Comps (not serious ones): $25.82M/$28.14M THU. Pretty damn great day 2! (May 21).)
- AniNate (THU sales still largely biased towards primetime evening showings. There may be FOMO but not enough for people to take off work early. Good lord already 80+ THU previews sold for Deadpool at Canton (May 20).)
- AnthonyJPHer (Extremely strong growth from OD for Thursday. We have a monster on our hands here people. Buuut. Let me temper the excitement somewhat. The Friday numbers are good, stronger than Inside Out 2 by a considerable margin. However Inside Out 2 is looking very backloaded. This is looking extremely presales heavy right now. Much more than IO2’s 1,200 tickets for Friday. But here lies the problem. There is only 122 tickets separating Thursday and Friday for Deadpool and Wolverine, and for IO2, there is 500 tickets between the two days for that movie. This far out I’m not freaking out. I think the gap will increase. It just alarmed me a little. I still think it’s going to be massive though. Just a word of caution (May 28). Off to a hot start! At my theater in my town, there has been 8 tickets sold. That sounds low but it’s actually a lot, especially this far out and because Inside Out 2 hasn’t sold any tickets at my theater yet. Looking more broadly at 4 theaters I track other than my own, there is a mind- boggling 1,029 tickets sold! Already more than Inside Out 2 (May 20).)
- Charlie Jatinder (Comp: $28.9M THU. Moving along well (May 27). Nearly 300 sales day vs ~260 by Black Panther & ~200 of GOTG3. Another brilliant day. Given the length of sales window, comps be falling off but they have remained steady for first 4 days (May 24). Looking at keysersoze123's MTC1 data: These are incredible (May 22). $40.22M THU (MCU first day sales). Amazing day two at MiniTC2. Well ahead of BP2, GOTG3 and AM3. Not too far off from Thor 4. This is more impressive considering they all were ~25-35 days out while this is 65 days out. MTC2 has lower ATP generally due to smaller screens, less PLF, and more family friendly chain. Does much better PTA than MTC1 (May 21). MCU MTC 1 24 Hours: Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness ~ 210K (T-29), Thor 4 ~ 137K (T-24), DP&W ~ 120K+ (T-66), BP 2 ~ 110K (T-38), AM3 ~ 88K (T-30), and GoTG3 ~ 76K (T-30). At T-30 guess DP&W would have been around 160-170K type. Will mostly be above BP2 and below Thor 4. 3.6k so far. BP2 final was 4.6k. It’s done (crossed GOTG3 day one sales). Almost crossed GoTG3 day one sales at MiniTC2 (May 20).)
- Inceptionzq (Denver Comp: $25.69M THU. Drafthouse THU/FRI/SAT/SUN comp: $31.04M/$38.62M/$40.21M/$22.35M (May 21). Drafthouse THU/FRI/SAT/SUN comps with L&T 24 hours and MoM 11 hours: (1.03x0.968x) / (0.884x0.945x) / (0.912x1.01x) / (0.561x1.004x). Denver THU: In like for like theaters: (0.828x Thor L&T First 24 hours) and (0.628x Doctor Strange MoM first 11.5 hours) (May 20).)
- jeffthehat (Took my first look in Indiana yesterday. Won't do a full post because I missed like 20 shows. But the gist is it was at ~3600 tickets sold and ~400 shows. Just as a point of reference, here are the highest values for tickets sold I have in my database. Bob Marley Wed T-1 = 3309 tickets sold. Dune 2 Thu T-1 = 3041 tickets sold. Godzilla x Kong Thu T-1 = 2328 tickets sold. Thus, sales are already the highest I've tracked with two months to go (May 29).)
- keysersoze123 (Previews was taken late yesterday and Friday data was just now. Still going quite strong. very impressive after huge OD (May 28). Still really strong 3 days later (May 25). 1st few days of PS is all about fanboys so T-x does not matter. By this FRI it will be in steady state mode. With this long a cycle that would be at very low levels. Looking at FRI sales, its IM will be closer to Thor 4 than BP2. So we can do the projections based on how the previews will go. However Its really early. Let us wait until we have T-x comps. Probably will have to wait until July to get credible comps. MTC2 early sales tend to be way weaker for all movies. The disparity for big movies is even higher. Nothing out of ordinary in day 2 pace for MTC1 (May 22). Obvious skew on previews (compared to FRI) as its 9+ weeks from release. Excellent growth even past 2:15 PM. Finished ahead of BP2 and ~20K below Thor 4 (116k for DxW and FINAL The Marvels previews at 133k). It has the longer cycle. This includes fan shows which sold 18K+ in initial check around noon PST. Fan event is just MTC1. I dont see anything for any other MTC so far or smaller chains. I think at this point we need to comp with 2022 MCU movies if OD presales are on par. Until we are within T-x cycle for this movie, we cannot comp after 1st 2-3 days. Fan shows are yuge. Adding FanShows and Previews should put it between BP2 and Thor 4 for now. Terrific OD. Over time, GotG3 should provide great comps. I can say for sure, its no where in the ballpark of DS2 which did 36m previews. Really good start. Should finish the day ahead of Ant 3 I think. Sales will taper off after fanboy rush. This does not include fan shows. No full data yet but show counts for previews (MTC1 - 7427 and MTC2 - 2914). MTC1 shows they are ready for big numbers. MTC2 is more conservative and numbers will go up close to release. If I have to guess based on really early indications, its OD between Guardians 3 and Ant 3 at MTC1. MTC2 I unfortunately cannot get data (May 20). Thor 4 is the most logical comp but that had meh WOM so IM was terrible. Previews were excellent though. Since its previews was 3 days after July 4, its final surge was stronger than even DS2. I dont think there is any difference between early and late July. All schools/colleges will still be off (May 19). Only number that matters is OD presales. after few days it will hit a trough and then it will plod along until social media reactions and reviews hit close to release. I think we can kind of predict its OW after its OD presales (May 18). RESPONSE TO PORTHOS: Captain Marvel had very strong sales on its OD despite early start. So OD is all about fans. It does not matter if you start 2 weeks before or 9 weeks. They will still book. So it would be interesting to compare OD sales not only with CM for @Porthos but also the big openers in 2022/23 period from MTC perspective. 1) DS2 - 230k ish. 2) Thor 4 - 136k ish. 3) Wakanda - 110k. 4) Ant 3 - 88K. 5) Guardians 3 - 70k ish (May 17).)
- Legion Again (Previews this early in summer are almost a THU opening, so Fri soemthing like +35-55% from Th is IM ~4.9-5.5. If we get some strong Fri sales when we’re close maybe I’ll drag it up to 5.6 or something but it will be really really tough to beat that. Expecting an IM close to Thor 4. Better reception (in avg case, just by regression to the mean) but bigger previews/more fanrush element, ~cancelling. T-65 Projection Matrix ($166M-$186M OW) (May 22).)
- Porthos (Comp: $20.87M THU. $6.90M earned so far in Sacramento (May 30). For long releases of MCU/SW Saga caliber, it usually takes about 6 to 8 days for the initial wave to stop. The Rise of Skywalker didn't really "bottom out" until D9 or so (T-51). Then at T-21, more or less, it started up its acceleration again. Can see similar patterns for MCU long runners (May 24). MCU/SW films tend to have a bit longer of a slope-down on the decent of the "u-curve" so I think I'll keep posting "Day x" comps for at least a couple more days (May 23). Pretty standard Day 2, really. Best sign, I think, is it nearly matching BP2 (that also had a long pre-sale window starting at T-38) (May 22). $22.09M THU Day 1 Comps (8.4% 3D and 58.5% PLF) (May 21). Pretty good, all things considered. BP2 and onward tell a pretty consistent picture. Do think the extra month of pre-sales is gonna mess with these comps at least a little (May 21). Since setup took 60-75 min longer, take the following with a slight grain of salt: 1:45 PM with 2,105 tickets sold. (NWH 2am: 6515), (NWH 2pm: 10685), (Batman 12:45 pm: 1693), (MoM 1:00 pm: 5030), (L&T 12:15pm: 2519), (BP2 2:15pm: 2197) and (GOTG3 12:40pm: 1317). Two theaters have not yet checked in. Seems to be broadly in line with other markets that have reported in (May 20). No comparison for a movie starting presales this early (60+ days before release). Only MCU entry which comes close is Captain Marvel (T-58) and only other Disney release is TROS (T-59). Longest pre-sale window for a major Disney release since The Last Jedi (~70 days). Longest major release since Fast X's 99 days. Probably the most on-point recent comparison will be Jurassic World 3's 43 days. Length of the pre-sale window will very likely depress D1/D2/D3 sales somewhat. It's a matter of smaller degrees when comparing something like a BP2 (starting at T-38), but that extra month is probably gonna slice some numbers off the top of the pile, especially after the first day (May 17).)
- TalismanRing (NYC Regal Local. 17 shows (3 3D, 3 RPX, 11 Reg 2): 102 tickets sold for first hour - almost half for the 7pm RPX showing. COMPS MON opening week: Marvels: 91 (11pm), Eternals: 266 (7pm), Black Widow: 239 (5pm), and Venom 2: 131 (6pm) (May 20).)
- TheFlatLannister ($150M locked imo. Don’t really see under $30M for previews and a 6x multi gets it to $180M OW. With GOTG 3 early reception I think $200M becomes a real discussion (May 22). $44.36M Dune 2 Day 2 comp. Pretty ridiculously strong day 2. Sold more tickets on T-65 than Dune 2 did in its final day of presales. $22.42M THU GOTG3 Comp. Considering this thing is 60+ days out, I'd say day 2 was amazing (May 21). Sold around 1k tickets in the last 8 hours. Keep in mind this is not T-X so once I switch to T-X 30+ days from now, comp will probably be well over $30M for GOTG. Thinking ~8k seats sold by T-30 for ~$37M comp with GOTG vol 3. DON'T TAKE THESE THU COMPS (Dune+APES+GxK) SERIOUSLY: $46.33M. Rollout is pretty insane. Has almost 200 more showings than Inside Out 2. Sold more tickets than Dune 2 did as of T-1 (Dune 2 finished with 13.6k on T-0). Also surpassed Godzilla tickets sold as of T-0. Half way finished collecting data on Deadpool for Florida and it's nearly tripled Dune 2 first 24 hours of sales and data is still flowing in. Passed GOTG3, ATSV, Dune 2 (First 24 hours) in about 3 hours. I think we can put the under $100M OW discussion to bed. To the shock of no one, this is blowing up. First 24 hours update should have average comps near $35M (May 20).)
- Tinalera (Toronto having an especially good run on pre sales- overall sales looking healthy (May 27). For a movie this far out, yea presales are doing well in Vancouver and Calgary. Its hard as very few movies open this early, but its healthy when we are getting between 5-10 percent sales for a movie not due out for 2 months (May 24).)
- TwoMisfits (Local Cinemark presale sets for DP3... 3 screens and 15 showings each - the PLF is giving 1 of 2 PLF screens and the non-PLF is doing some 3d showings. Not the set that a normal "big" Marvel movie gets, but it seems my 2 locals have taken a "put up or shut up" strategy for almost all blockbusters lately. This IS equal or more than most everything lately (although Bad Boys 4 is getting 3 screens and 14 showings at my PLF, so...). But, compared to 2019 Marvel, or even 2021 or EVEN 2023 Marvel...this is a low set (May 19).)
- vafrow (Comp: $45.2M THU. 12% over two days is pretty strong once the rush passes. We're not at the bottom of the curve yet it seems (May 24). 8% growth at this stage is very positive. I expect another drop tomorrow, but I'm probably not going to touch this until the weekend at this stage. I'm comping high, and without a proper MCU comparison (Marvels doesn't count), it's hard to gauge, but I feel this is just doing really well here (May 22). 20% growth on day 2 when it had a really strong first day is impressive. Ahead of T-1 for Dune Previews to officially be the highest selling film I've tracked since I switched to the 5 theatre radius (May 21). MTC4 has really jacked up plf prices in the last year or so, and D&W is skewed heavily towards PLFs in my track. I'm not sure how many trackers are doing price adjustments, but lack of good MCU comps in the last year could see a big price impact. Watching L&T comps in particular because being a rare adult skewing July MCU film seems to be the most ideal (May 21). Solid jump over the course of the day. Dolby sales jumped up the most, potentially as good IMAX screens got taken. Not sure what happened for the East coast this morning, but sales seemed to have rebounded. A little hit and miss in different markets, but that's what I'd assume for that region. There's some small communities. Not sure why it took so long for sales to hit when southern Ontario was hot off the mark. People may have assumed 9:00 am eastern time. Numbers pulled around 11:00 am, so two hours worth of data. Chain is pushing 3D for the ticket premium. Exception is IMAX showings, where I think they know people just want the 2D experience. 60% of sales being those four IMAX showings. 40 minutes into presales for my area. Almost triple Dune 2 on my first measurement for that, which was Day 2. Bit ahead of my first measurement for The Marvels, which was T-21, and I think about a week into sales. They're really leaning into 3D showings. I get the desire for theatres to get the extra premium, but I can't see a lot of people wanting to see this in 3D. Has been up for sale on the Canadian East coast, presumably from 9:00 local time. I did a sweep of all showtimes on MTC4, but there's been zero sales so far (May 20).)
- YM! (Sold ~10.6x Furiosa's T-6. One theater makes up a sizeable percentage of most mid-sized Marvel's T-2 in a span of hours. Such a strong start. Definitely feels like we got a potential 25m previews/150m+ opener. Still don't buy 200m OW but am starting to see 30m previews/175m+ OW as a strong possibility. On its first day has sold over 10x Furiosa T-6 here in SE Wisconsin. At North Shore, 70% of Shang-Chi’s and Venom 2’s T-2, 47% of Homecoming’s T-2, and 41.25% of Thor: Ragnarök’s T-2 - just using DP&W’s T-66! At half of Furiosa’s T-4 sales here in the past ten minutes in just two of the theaters PLF shows (May 20). 42 showings for previews across four SE Wisconsin theaters I track. ~20% more showings than IO2 and about the same amount of PLFs spread. Likely 3-4 screens a theater for THU previews, but has SuperScreen + 2 UltraScreen screens in Majestic Cinema. Seems to be a 3D push with North Shore having primetime showings in 3D UltraScreen (May 19).)

2024.05.31 02:53 duke_of_flukes Yuko Yurei: What Really happened?
I feel like the truth needs to be heard. Please respect the privacy of Yuko and the people surrounding this. I have censored the names and PL accounts involved. Some might call this drama but it was the reason Yuko Yurei ended the way she did. I am mostly doing this because I feel like the boo bros got treated unfairly in the eyes of the public. Mods delete this if you must but I believe it clears all the rules. I don’t think this is petty drama since it involved the graduation of a talent.
First off I would like to say that I was briefly part of Yuko’s fanbase as a lurker. I joined right before her hiatus and quite enjoyed her content. I membered to her and didn’t mind her GFE shtick. I thought she was really talented and I found it interesting to see how invested she was into the lives of her fans and much she interacted with them. Then everything fell apart in the blink of an eye.
I joined the idol fan discord to see if they knew what was going on. I was thrown into a rabbit hole that was an emotional roller coaster. I read and read and watched almost everything that had happened up until this point. It really affected me. It really hurts to know the truth sometimes. I watched as people laughed and criticized her fans without knowing anything.
To start out I would like to discuss what Yuko’s content was like. No, I will not post members content out of respect for Yuko. Yuko was not your normal GFE streamer. She took it to the next level. She described how she didn’t want a parasocial relationship with their fans because she actually wanted to get to know them. She would ask for maros frequently, ask about people’s days, write members posts on her days, share very personal stories and constantly pushed the boundaries of how close a streamer could get to her fans. This started out slowly and began to build and build over the months of her time in Idol corp. She then began to say she loved them. She would constantly make references to being their GF on a very frequent basis (not just in RP streams). Fans started to admit their feelings to her. Some were concerned as they knew it was a fantasy that could ever be fulfilled. They asked her if it was ok to love her, she said that’s what she wanted. They asked if it bothered her that people were obsessed, she said that’s what she wanted to encourage. She did all sorts of content with GFE sprinkled in everywhere. She would do very explicit ASMRs and even "indulge herself" while doing so. She even accepted receiving "tributes" (look this one up yourself). She made her donothon goals very explicit with some goals reaching as high as $20000. Even after reaching her top goal, her fans continued to contribute. She made 34000$ by the end of the donothon. Continuing on after her donothon, she would continue to "love bomb" her audience and hype up the rewards especially the "spicy asmr" which was promised to be her most explicit one yet.
One of the phrases she would use on occasion was: "honesty is policy". She promised to always be honest with her fans. Her fans loved her. Despite this, people would anti her fanbase constantly because they thought they were GFE "degenerates". Most of this hate came from her supposed PL fanbase.
At one point, one of Yuko's fans pulled a really vapid stunt and posted his "tribute" publicly. It was gross to find that out but Yuko consented to receiving them so I can’t judge too harshly. Yuko accidently saw it while streaming and freaked out but laughed about it. It was a pretty big controversy at the time supposedly. Yuko didn’t seem bothered with it and continued her normal song and dance. It ended in him getting doxxed by someone that was likely from her PL fanbase. Yeah... some of Yuko's fans were weird freaks... but they genuinely loved her and were some of the most passionate fans I've ever seen. From making and commissioning art on an almost weekly basis to making massive projects and gifts for her. This wasn't just buying her throne gifts, but putting there love, passion and skills to work to make more personal gifts. Everyone was happy or so it was thought... Queue the downfall.
It began around October of 2023 when Yuko started to act different. She began to stream less and less. Fans were concerned as they thought she was unhappy. They got together and asked her in Maros if something was wrong because of the lack of streams. "Honesty is policy" after all. She came on stream to address it. At first her fans apologized for bringing it up, but she insisted that it was ok. She began to put their worries to ease stating that she was just really busy working on donothon goals and that the recent October attacks were effecting the company. She vented a bunch about management and said she would try to stream more. The fans insisted that she didn’t have to do higher effort material and she could just stream to have fun and hangout. The rest of October was met with less streams as her fans began to expect. Her fans never waivered in their support for her even in these times. They were a little worried though. Something was off. (This is when I joined funnily enough). Come November, the Riro Ron situation occurred causing a massive amount of stress to the talents and the fanbase. Yuko went silent for the day. She apologized for not saying anything but it was obvious that it had affected her as she was fairly close to Riro. Later that month she did a members stream where she discussed how happy she was being where she is and that she had no regrets doing any of the explicit streams and that she liked doing them. She then talked about wanting to do more kinds of content such as the Cabella's stream (my favourite stream to be honest) and other kinds of skit content. It was received well. Later in that stream she went dead silent for about 5-10 minutes. She said she was crying during that time and implied how she loved what she had built up. I think the fans thought it was strange but I wasn't paying attention at the time. Later on she discussed getting a new laptop from management so she could stream on vacation. She said she knew how much people would miss her streams with her taking so many vacations recently. December came. She was lovebombing the audience more than usual and sending tweets about how she will always love her boo bros. Her December streams did not last long as she soon found out that she was accidently overdosing on afrin which was causing her some fairly annoying sinus issues and she was likely suffering some other amount of side effects that from withdrawal. She came back and did another member's stream hyping up her "spicy asmr" and decided it would be fun to shop for "toys" on stream. Even her fans were shocked by this and seemed to enjoy it. She talked about her feelings for the rest of stream and her usual ramblings that her fans had come to love. Christmas came and she did a few fun skit streams before leaving for vacation where she said she would try to tweet a bunch for her boobros. She did 1 laptop stream over her vacation and fans expected that she was busy with family. Then shortly after Christmas, it happened. The action that would completely change the trajectory of her career and inevitably lead to the collapse of the once loved Yuko Yurei.
Christmas had come and gone. Yuko decided to recreate her Past Life account on twitter after tweeting something vaguely bad was happening within idol but that eventually things would be "so back". While that was happening, word spread on twitter, 4chan, and the fan discord that her PL was back, The fans were worried but went to go support her anyways. It didn't matter where she went, they would follow. She hinted at reactivating her PL account in a members post and if you had a keen eye, you would have picked up on it. She then went to her PL youtube channel community section to address the fans that had came from Yuko and was happy to see "familiar faces". She told them to spread the word that she was returning to her PL activities. All was going well with her usual kind of tweets, but then she made her first mistake. She made a vague post for her members saying that she was at a "crossroads" that she couldn't say what was wrong but that she had greivances and that things might not be ok. This obviously worried her fans but they supported her despite it. That is until she made a 2nd mistake that completely blew up in her face. Whether it was intentional or not, she upset all her biggest fans in a matter of minutes. An uproar ensued in the official idol discord with fans straight up saying they were leaving and that Pandora's box had opened. So what was it that caused such massive amounts backlash? From the outside, it seemed like they were upset that she wasn't streaming as she had promised on Yuko Yurei, but no, it was one worst branding mistakes I've ever seen a Vtuber make.
Misinformation is being spread by drama-tuber channels. Yes, one reason for Yuko’s hiatus was burnout. That much was obvious since October, but the whole truth is that it was her PL account that was the main cause of her long hiatus at the beginning of what would be a long winter for the boo bros. You see the thing about Yuko is that she had some interesting connections to 4chan in her past life. This connection happened to be to the "guns" board typically referred to as /k/. This was fine by itself but the company she surrounded herself was the main issue. I won't go into the serious allegations or even say who it is but just know these people were despised by the boobros. Yuko knew this as she removed her association with them in the past. These two individuals were considered antis to the boo bros. They hated what Yuko had become. They hated the content she created and most of all, hated her fanbase. They were quite vocal about it supposedly. I have heard from the boobros experience that they have sent some weird DMs but I cannot confirm myself. I’ve attached censored images of what they have been posting recently and why I believe the boobros’ allegations to be true. There is more serious allegations in terms of their meetups at /k/ events but I will not delve into this. The issue started when Yuko both liked and followed them on her PL account. People started asking questions. Why was she following people who were antis? Why would she re-open her PL? Does she actually hate her fans? Does she actually hate being Yuko? Are allegations of these two real? Why wasn’t she following fan artists? Why isn’t she following her friends at Idol? Why prioritize following them? The fans remembered the vague post she had made earlier. The talk of grievances and being at a crossroads sent a message to her fans. They took it as her endorsing the antis and that she really despised her fans. This caused the most vocal boo bros to run to Twitter and ask her what was going on. She was acting strange. Then her daily tweets stopped. She said “honesty was policy” so why was she avoiding answering? Fans started to panic. Speculation got out of control. They went to the official discord to share their concerns with each other. People began to leave while other’s said they would wait and see how Yuko responds.
The boo bros did not account for something. Their fan discord was being watched by an ex moderator of hers. The speculation and anger that was supposed to be contained to their fan server was likely being leaked to Yuko. On the other side of things, a Boo bro also had a connection to the /k/ “antis’” discord. Allegedly the supposed antis were gloating that they convinced her stop ASMR. I cannot confirm the veracity of these statements.
Trust was shattered. The vocal boo bros reached out to her Marshmallow account supposedly voicing their displeasure. It is likely she was flooded with criticism, anger, and confusion. Maros are usually filtered through an AI to weed out negativity so I don’t know how much of it actually reached her. A week passed with Boo bros continuing to discuss the drama in the fan discord while the official moderators told them to avoid doomposting and alluding to her PL account. Infighting ensued in fan discord. This where things started getting messy. The 4chan thread for Idol was up in flames. Mocking boo bros, mocking Yuko, and mocking her /k/ friends. The thread was raided by individuals that were either the /k/ antis themselves or people pretending to be them. Shortly after, one of them decided to change their Twitter user name to “oshislayer”. While this was happening, a self-titled PL fan decided to dox them on Kiwifarms. This got spread to 4chan and “oshislayer” privated their account. A week passed and Yuko was still silent until she tweeted and announcement apologizing for making people worry and that she would be back to streaming full time “soon”. She then privated her PL account and refrained from posting on it. Boo bros relaxed. They would soon have their answers and she would be back soon. She didn’t come back. Not for an entire month and a half. This waiting caused boo bros a lot of pain. She promised that she would never leave them in the dark so why was she so silent? As Valentine’s Day approached fans began to get more agitated and lose patience. She lied to them. They waited and waited until some decided that they couldn’t take the anxiety of waiting for her to address things. One by one they began to move on. They changed their avatars back from the boo bro mascot they once loved.
After valentines week, she announced her schedule. Most boo bros were anxious to hear what she had to say but most had enough already. The dreaded announcement stream began. It looked like she was going to graduate. That would have been better for the boo bros considering what happened next.
The announcement stream began with her old intro. The one she hadn’t used in a long time. She was a mess. She couldn’t stop laughing nervously which agitated the boo bros as it appeared she wasn’t taking things seriously. Then she teased it. She knew why they were upset and said she was going to address the “elephant in the room”. Instead of responding to the controversy, she said she was dropping GFE for good and that her old content would be deleted by the end of the week. This was last straw for the remaining most vocal supporters of Yuko Yurei. Her fans were furious. She had betrayed them. She chose to withdraw from completing her promised donothon goals, she was going to delete all the memories they had built and cherished for an entire year. They protested, and hated her for what she had done and the sheer amount of lies she told. Some of the boo bros took things too far with one wishing her dead but the vast majority gave her biting criticism. One changed their profile to suggest she was a bad person and felt he had been taken advantage of. Most of her attached fans told her that they were leaving and that they were disappointed with how she handled things. They left. After the stream, her fans were called names: toxic, psychos, freaks, degenerates, incels, they were called too parasocial despite Yuko being the one to encourage it up until the day she disappeared. Then Yuko deleted most of her content…1 hour later instead of the week she had initially said. Fans tried to defend themselves saying how betrayed they felt but she had just deleted all evidence of her being the one pushing them to be parasocial, to be honest with her, for her to be honest with them. It was messy. Fans wanted an apology for her retracting donothon goals, they wanted an apology for her lying about so much, for hurting them emotionally and for the handling of the stream in front of the most live viewers she ever had. She never apologized and only decided to address the issues in a members stream one week later.
In this stream, she admitted she hurt people but again never apologized. Her explanation for quitting GFE was that she was getting stressed out and had burnout. Then she decided to push the blame to some of her fans. She said she wasn’t getting enough support for her other content and that people only wanted more ASMR and were stressing her out. This was a flat out lie. If you saw what her fans were saying in the comments of every members posts, of every video and stream she did, it was all positive. Now it could have been that complaints were being sent via marshmallow but the issue with marshmallow is that it’s anonymous. Anyone can say anything without repercussions. This invites bad actors to join in and stir the pot. It could be possible that Yuko faced a torrent of harassment from bad actors but I don’t know. Nobody does. From the outside all I saw was positivity. Later on in the stream Yuko briefly suggested that people not make fun of her fans that left but, the fact that she was still following the people that did made her message appear insincere. The now ex-fans took her deleting her lies and blaming them for her change in content as blatant gaslighting. It’s frustrating because I get it. I saw the members posts she was making. I saw how up until the day she disappeared, her fans worried about her well being. I remember one of her last members streams a bunch of boo bros were asking if she was still comfortable with their behaviour, with the content she made. She enthusiastically said yes each and every time. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. I saw it with my own eyes but I don’t have the proof to back it because it was all deleted by her. It will always be the boo bros who look bad in the face of the public. Yuko controls the narrative. Eventually Yuko began to feel the consequences of her actions. Weeks of donations being almost nothing. The people who claimed to support her content shift had barely donated a penny. It got to the point where she had a stream complaining about her stress getting to the point of almost having a panic attack. This is where she cried about potentially having to work a normal job like at Starbucks or Walmart. Unfortunately for Yuko, a scorned ex boo bro or troll decided to leak the clip to 4chan. This got picked up by Banned VT Memes and went viral. Banned VT memes seemed to have sided with the fans and provided a bastardized version of events to the likes of thousands of Twitter followers with it being slightly inaccurate. Despite this her biggest ex-supporters either just corrected some details and confirmed the rest but had nothing else to say as far as I’m aware.
Yuko pretty much stopped streaming after this event and has decided to graduate. She is now reopened her PL and kept following the /k/ “antis” that started this all. They decided to appear on her PL stream and donate around 100$ worth of bits. Yuko ignored them completely. Additionally Yuko has now attempted to complete her donothon goals that she promised with the exception of the spicy Asmr which was a top goal worth thousands of dollars. She decided to mock the idea that she promised long ago and make a low effort video that was 15 min of her eating noodles. Most of her biggest ex supporters didn’t care but a few people came to laugh and bunch criticized her heavily for pulling out of such a large donothon goal and mocking the people who paid. The comments are disabled on said video. Finally, Yuko has not explained why she’s graduating and said she “doesn’t know”. To me I think it’s pretty clear.
Some thoughts: This situation was handled very poorly by Yuko and is an interesting case study in Vtubing scandals. I am reminded of Nyanners scandal that happened a decade ago. At first I thought the Boo bros were crazy when this whole event kicked off but I did the digging to find the context. I found myself in miasma of emotions. It certainly looks like a betrayal to me. I would have dug into Yuko’s side of the story but she never gave it. She just ignored it. I won’t support some of the accusations that were made towards her /k/ friends as the evidence is shaky and I don’t like spreading criminal accusations without sufficient evidence even if there’s a lot of suspicion surrounding them.
The boo bros definitely pushed her away with some of the discourse they had in the fan server that was meant to be contained. That being said, I think Yuko was irresponsible and hurt a lot of people. It hurt me to see her fans done dirty. It is even more frustrating that so few people know what actually happened. Granted, there probably were a couple of bad apples but does the whole audience deserve to be thrown in with the hatred of the few?
Always be careful what you like and follow on Twitter. Remember it’s public. It hurts to see Yuko get support while the boo bros are scorned and hated. It was never that simple. I wish it could be as simple as there being a victim and villain but more often than not, it’s complicated.

2024.05.31 02:45 c_for First time riding an EUC - My experience: I'm Hooked!
I received the V8S earlier today. My plan was to take it out for 30-45 minute each day until I feel comfortable enough to ride in bike lanes.
Before I knew how much time had passed I ran out of water so checked my phone.... I had been practicing for 2 hours.
I spent about 10 minutes mostly standing in place getting a feel for for the back and forth motions while supporting myself with a fence. I then spent about 50 minutes travelling alongside a fence having to reach out for every couple of metres.
Then after about an hour something just clicked into place. I managed to ride for about 30 seconds without stopping. Soon after that it was about a minute.
By the time the 2 hours was up I was practicing riding around the schoolyard which was about half nicely paved and half really uneven and cracked pavement. There was even a couple of metres of mulch ground that I was transitioning over. At most I managed two laps without stopping.
I was prepared to not have gotten this far for another day or so. I can't wait to try again tomorrow!
I do have a few bruises from the EUC running into me when I bailed. They are definitely right to recommend knee/shin pads, not just knee pads. That is going on my to buy list. I also have a few scrapes on my fingers where the wrist guards don't cover. I'll heal.
For anyone who is questioning whether or not to make the plunge and try out an EUC, it is a great time! I'm 40 and only mildly fit. If I can do it you can too!
My only gripe is how interesting everyone finds them to be. I'm not a very social person so am not used to this level of attention. But I figure with EUCs being so new we all need to be ambassadors for them. They aren't quite legal here in Toronto so we need to get people on board. I did what I could to big up all the benefits of them as commuter vehicles.
I can't wait to try again tomorrow!
Edit: I just stood up for the first time after getting home about 30 minutes ago.... Wow, my calf muscles got more of a workout than I thought. I may need to give them a day off.

2024.05.31 01:05 NoDistrict8179 Ravensburger - Big Box, Small Box, Smaller Box - What's The Difference?
| Some puzzle companies offer a smaller box version of some of their designs at a lower price, most notably Eurographics, Ravensburger and White Mountain. The questions many of us are asking is: "Really, smaller boxes of the same puzzle? There are price differences? Is there a difference in quality? What is the difference in quality?" So when the questions arose once again, most particularly about Ravensburger, luckily I had some on hand to assemble and find out. u/Canuck_in_a_Bunnyhug u/a-puzzling-world and u/ClimbingBackUp were all in the conversation and at the end of it, it seemed I was in a good place to clarify a few things if possible. Besides, my mythical degree in dissectology was at stake and I've been working on that for four years. So here are the Ravensburger candidates: Large box Japanese Garden Tea House, small black box China Cupboard and smaller blue and white box Abundant Blooms. All are made in Germany. Pictured here is the usual Large Box (above) Japanese Garden Tea House, the Balck Small Box (below right) China Cupboard and the Even Smaller Blue and White Box (below left) The large box can retail for as much as $29.95 from Ravensburger on Amazon. Luckily I paid much less than that from Puzzles Canada, but still the US price is $21.17; whereas the small black boxes retail for $16.99 at Barnes & Nobel or only $12.99 at Target. And on the low end is the even smaller blue and white boxes for only $9.99. So there are considerable price difference to be sure. Now to the puzzles themselves! Each puzzle was excellent or very good quality and all enjoyable. The large box Japanese Garden Tea House was a perfect example of everything that is right and beautiful about Ravensburger - absolutely excellent in every way. You can see the original post here. This is the completed Japanese Garden Tea House. Don’t know if you can tell from the photo, but the quality is excellent – the usual Ravensburger standard, lovely. The small black box China Cupboard was also such excellent quality that I couldn't tell the difference between it and any of the large box RBs that I've done. So really solid quality at a lower price. The post for this puzzle is here. The completed China Cupboard. The quality here is excellent as well. In fact I was delighted! The smaller blue and white box (same height and width as the black box, but not as deep) Abundant Blooms was very good quality, but I quickly noticed that the fit was not very precise and it did give a few problems with the build. See the original post here for more details and discussion. And lastly, the completed Abundant Blooms. While the quality was very good, it didn’t quite measure up to the other two. Next, the piece comparisons. Initially I thought the pieces were all very similar, but upon closer inspection it’s clear that the thickness is in alignment with the pricing of each individual puzzle. Yes, the large box pieces are the thickest, the black small box pieces are of medium thickness and the smaller blue and white box pieces are the least thick. While I don't have a precise measuring tool the approximate thicknesses are noted in the second photo and are reasonably accurate. Abundant Blooms (red piece, left), China Cupboard (blue piece, center) Japanese Garden Tea House (grayish green piece, right). And here same as above: Abundant Blooms approximately 1.5mm (smaller blue and white box, red piece, left), China Cupboard approximately 1.75mm (small black box, blue piece, center) and Japanese Garden Tea House 2mm (grayish green piece, right). So I guess the old adage “You get what you pay for” may be true. Or at least you get the thickness you pay for. And while I loved and enjoyed each of these, paying less for relatively the same experience is pretty attractive and perhaps preferable. Now for the shopping! Alert, Alert u/ClimbingBackUp !! I usually shop online since it’s fast, easy and often less expensive. Puzzles Canada is my fav, especially when there’s a sale on. Since they are quite a hike for me I haven’t visited, although they do have a brick and mortar store in the Toronto area I believe. So sadly no shelf shots, but here is their site, so you can visit anytime. I do occasionally venture out to the local Target (discount department store for those not in the US) and that is where I found my first small box puzzle. They used to have a larger selection, but have reduced down to one shelf unit featuring mostly Buffalo and Ceaco puzzles. There was one RB small black box Villainous available – and for only $12.99. The lone small black box Ravensburger “Villainous” at a discount price and a few Ceaco neighbors. The entire shelf unit of puzzle offerings at Target today. Then on to Barnes & Noble (which is a bookstore with several locations across the country – again for those not in the US). They have not reduced their puzzle stock and still have three large shelving units to house their offerings. Prices are considerably higher, but there are lots of puzzles here that you wouldn’t find at Target. Some of the Ravensburger small black box puzzles at Barnes & Noble A few more Ravensburgers at Barnes & Noble Ravensburgers and friends at Barnes & Noble Galisons, Clementoni, Lantern Press, even a Pomegranate and a Blanc also at B&N More eclectic choices at B&N Yes, these last pics are gratuitous - puzzle porn as it were. And yes, after a few months of being true to my goal of buying NO NEW PUZZLES this year I did cave and bought one at Target and one at Barnes & Noble. Who could resist Moomin On The Riviera even if it is a Flame Tree? Or Ceaco’s Colorful Camping Glow? So it seems that there are differences between each of the three Ravensburger box sizes. Definitely subtle between the large box and the small black box, though more pronounced when it comes to the low budget blue and white box. I should note that I have not seen any of the smaller blue and white box puzzles in my recent travels so I can't say whether they are still on offer and would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who has seen them recently either in a store or online. Note: no puzzles were harmed during this research project and they seemed to enjoy sitting for their portraits. submitted by NoDistrict8179 to Jigsawpuzzles [link] [comments] |

2024.05.30 21:21 MachineSuccessful524 Looking for place to park boat along Toronto city shoreline
Hi guys,
So I'm buying a small power boat soon (around 16ft). I have a place to store it but the storage place is on Toronto islands, the thing is I need a spot along Toronto city's shoreline where I can park to have a friend or 2 board the boat. I'm having trouble finding a spot since everything along Toronto shore are marinas that I need a slip to get into. I'll probs bring friends over 3-4 times a month, so I don't want to get fined by pulling up somewhere I shouldn't. Anyone know where I could pick park for like 2 mins that I wouldn't get in trouble?

2024.05.30 18:03 Low_Comfortable4332 Graduation Attire (Need Help Please) - First Time Attending One.
Hi everyone,
my first post on reddit. I'm hoping that someone can help me out.
I am graduating from my program, and will be attending the convocation in June.
I'm a guy, and I have never attended my graduations since Grade 8. Well, Grade 12 graduation never happened in-person due to COVID. And I got really sick when the Grade 8 Graduation happened.
This might sound dumb, but I really need help on picking what to buy and where to buy (clothing) for graduation ceremony in Toronto. Are there places that rent out stuff? What are some recommendations that anyone can give
Any tips anyone. It's my first time attending a ceremony like this.
Thanks
