I'm joining the Ren Faire as a Tinker for the entire run at the end of the summer. (My First.) I started searching cogs and gears to purchase as accessories for my cart and clothes, until I turned around and saw my Rostock Max V3 staring at me through a shameful amount of dust.
This may be too niche for this already niche group... (Who am I kidding? Both groups grow by the minute)...But besides gears, I'm a bit daunted trying to come up with more ideas of pieces to adorn my cart and/or garb.
The only other thing I had a thought to work on was modeling a mushroom art piece made to look like pieced-together metal to add a hippy/gnome style.
I am relatively proficient in 3D modeling, but could definitely use some practice if need be. I mostly work on set designs for theatre and woodworking projects. I'm hoping this will help expand my skills a bit.
****Picky Parameters:
I don't have a desire to make chainmail. I'm a mongetraveling salesman/engineer, essentially. Not a fighter. I'll see PLENTY of 3d printed chainmail walking around. I always complement it when spotted.
I'm also not going the steampunk route. I think with enough gadgets and trinkets and engineering doohickeys some bleed-over into a steampunk aesthetic is inevitable, however I'm hoping to not lean too much into greebly or something like lazer pistol.
So long story long;

After the discovery of a new race of predators, and the announce that it was up to the Venlils to deal with them, I considered leaving the army. My brother had been killed by Arxurs mere months ago, and I doubted my mother would survive the loss of her two sons.
But in the end, I stayed, because I knew we wouldn’t succeed unless some Venlils showed bravery, and I wanted to be brave, to be more than a weak Venlil, to contribute to the war.
This was our chance to strike, to get rid of predators before they could threaten us. If we had such an opportunity with the Arxurs, I would have eagerly taken it, so why were the Humans any different?
The governor seemed, for some reason, not so enthusiastic, despite having met these hunters in the flesh. General Kam, on the other hand, was hellbent on getting rid of Humans ASAP. The Venlil were not renowned for their military, but he still managed to assemble a fleet of four thousand without weakening the front too much.
Half of the fleet’s crew was actually extermination officers, since our mission was to eliminate predators. They were a little impressive, to be honest. I wondered why exterminators aren’t more often used in military expeditions, but I guess they’re more needed back home?
At least I made a friend: Garn, an exterminator and tallest Venlil I’ve ever seen. He looks like he didn’t get the memo about Venlil being supposed to be weak. He was our instructor, briefing us on predator behavior, and found I stomached his presentation better than most.
We talked for a bit, and he told me I could perhaps become an exterminator if I wanted to leave the army, although I admitted I would probably seek a safer job. He acknowledged it would probably be better. The next days, it was my turn teaching him things, mainly about how things operate on a spaceship, what would be his role, and how to read a star map.
He was shocked by how close we were to Earth, or the fact that Venlil Prime was closer to Wriss than to Aafa. You’d think that this would be common knowledge, but the Venlil education system isn’t very thorough on astrography.
Yes, it had been some fun days, where I could avoid thinking about what was coming. Unfortunately, it was over. I was looking through the window of the ship, admiring Venlil Prime for what would hopefully not be the last time.
The mission was so simple on paper: Humans were underdeveloped, having only one confirmed ship, probably not much more in total. We jumped near Earth, maybe fight a small, one-sided space battle, dropped the bomb, and went back home. It would take two paws at most.
Yet I had this weird gut feeling, telling me that something wasn’t right, that something would go wrong. I talked about it to Garn, who was currently cleaning his flamethrower.
“You’re scared, even if you know we should win? That’s perfectly normal. You know, a trained and equipped exterminator is more powerful than most predators he will face.”
“Re… Really?”
“Yes, think about it: he has protective gear and a flamethrower, while the predator only has its natural strength. Yet, the exterminator will still be the one who is scared.”
“Why?”
“The fear of predators is an old instinct, from way before we had technology that could bridge the gap. It ignores rational logic.”
“But, what if I mess up because I’m too scared?”
“Being scared is normal, Slanek. You think bravery is not being scared? No! That’s predator disease. You’re braver than you think, Slanek. You’re going to be fine. What you need to do is overcome your fear. When it pushes you to flee, push back, and you’ll be able to face any predator.”
Having been comforted a bit by his words, I returned to my post. It was going to be fine. In just a few claws, we would reach Earth, drop the bombs, come back home, and celebrate. I would ask to retire from the military, which they won’t refuse because I’ll be a hero, and I would get a cozy civilian life.
Everything was going to be fine.

There has been a lot of speculation on the Venlils, notably the fact that some signs clearly had several alphabets. The consensus is that Venlils speak different languages, just like Humans. Of course, Humans don’t need to speak anymore, but we still do it because it feels good.
We are so excited to get an alien species in our network! All the new knowledge, the new experiences, the new forms of art, it’s going to be so good!
Well, maybe they’ll all choose to not join. We doubt it though. But they’re very different from Humans. Yes, but the appeal of immortality and finally being truly understood is strong.
Well, we’ll see. But it’s true that almost all Humans were disgusted of joining, and then immediately seduced. Is ten years really immediate? Yes, on the scale of Human civilization.

Situation is: my family (my parents: my dad retired, and my mom a housewife, me: a college student, and my brother: junior high school student) is about to move out of my childhood house with my extended family for many many reasons.
Initially, I planned on moving out with them AFTER I graduated college and found a job stable enough to support the 4 of us. But I'm still in my first year of college, practically living off of my DOST scholarship. I wanted to take advantage of the return service to immediately secure a job especially since I study engineering in UP.
It just so happened that the move out was early by a couple of years, and my only source of income is my scholarship and my art.
I used to have art commissions for when I badly needed to buy something, but even then they were few and far between (mostly because I don't do marketing and I'm busy) It's not stable enough even after I quit my extra curriculars and focus on that.
I have some unpolished plans... And my parents are also trying to figure out a way to have a source of income in this new place.
Suggestions regarding my art career goes a long way (@createwithyza on socmeds for reference ). Commissioning me for something is much much appreciated !!

I have uploaded gameplay from my fresh experience with the game here if you want to see how it looks / plays. My first impressions are shared below:

Based on my limited time with it, I do not recommend playing Crazy Kung Fu on the PSVR2.
It is a Kung Fu martial arts inspired fitness game where you punch, block and dodge using full body movement (including squats) in room-scale (minimally 2m x 2m) and your two hands. It provides multiple environments to choose from that are quick to unlock when you play the Train mode and it also has a variety of Braces and Masks available to unlock to customize your Avatar for use in competitive Multiplayer mode which does feature cross-play with other VR platforms.
Nearly all of your gameplay is against wooden polls with randomized rotating components. Your goal is to punch or block with good accuracy (timing & force) and dodge (squat or step back) all blades. You are shown your accuracy during play and more stats about your performance at the end of each level. You can play all levels on Apprentice or Expert. The game features ~70 levels across multiple game modes.
Graphics of the game are clear but not crisp which I take to mean lower-resolution. It is also using reprojection because if you move you can see heavy ghosting of any of the text that is displayed. This is disappointing for a game with such a simple art style. It should be running native 120 and higher resolution on the PSVR2.
Soundtrack and sound effects are one area that I think game is nailing. An improvement would be to have the configurable Shifu (18:30) be voiced so you don't have to look to see what feedback your Shifu (Master / Trainer) is giving for your gameplay.
Haptics is an area of missed opportunities. The game is using haptics but the most I felt was playing Wing Chun when your arms are touching the Dummy sticks (?) and it is just an on/off rumble rather than giving the kind of finer haptic feedback that I know the PS VR2 Sense controllers are capable of giving. There is also no haptic feedback in headset when you take damage (failed to dodge blade or got hit by arrow in multiplayer). Punches & Blocks have haptics but aren't conveying good vs weak hits like the audio/visual feedback is conveying. Although the virtual menu of the game is intuitive and easy to use, none of the interactions are providing that tactile haptic feedback.
The game does feature a Platinum trophy, but I expect that will stay at 0% or be one of the rarest for anyone that does manage it because it has ridiculous trophy expectations like 100 day streak. It also has calorie burn related trophies (up to 500 calories in 1 day) which is fine for a fitness game, but not if it loses track between play sessions for same day or resets to zero for the day if you play any multiplayer. Many of the other trophies are expecting high-skill / dedication. The game came out very recently and has very few players so some of it makes sense, but as of now it has over 30 trophies not including Platinum sitting at 0%.
There are no VR comfort options, but this game doesn't need it since all movement is room-scale.
We both like the idea of the game as we both look for and appreciate games that provide a fun aerobic workout, but this is not a good port to the PSVR2. It isn't making use of stronger hardware to provide higher resolution (not a big deal to us), higher 90-120 framerates so there isn't any unnecessary reprojection (made my wife feel dizzy) or better haptics. It also crashes consistently when we try to play multiplayer together.
I may feel differently about the game overall if they can patch the multiplayer from crashing for us and get rid of the unnecessary reprojection, but as it is now, I don't recommend it.

- Train (4:20) is the core gameplay from Tutorial (0:51) where difficulty will go up as you progress to higher tier levels or enable the Expert toggle.
- Fight (12:00) is a variation where the wooden pillar will move as if sparring with you. This mode requires room-scale of 2x2 meters, 3x3 meters or up to 4x4 meters.
- Workout (14:35) lets you select Skill, Style and Flow options to customize parameters and then play for purpose of Workout.
- Wing Chun (18:42) lets you just practice against a virtual Wing Chun Dummy where you need to score enough to unlock next level.
- Event (21:20) provides generated routines after you have completed at least 3 Train and Fight levels.
- Multiplayer (21:37) allows you to have first to 3 wins matches against other players where you can filter / create rooms for 1-3 Arms that are either Standard or Double.
