Situation
You have a folder full of HTML (or config, or whatever) files that are all fairly similar, but also kind of not, because:

• They should be a lot more similar, but many different people have been editing them one at a time without coordinating between each other (or themselves),

and

• They really should be maintained as a template in some kind of actual templating language, and the implementation of whatever they're for should probably be something else entirely, but most of the people who edit these files are not programmers and the learning curve would be more trouble than it's worth.

You can see there are a lot of things that could be tidied up and made perfectly identical across all the files, but you can't be arsed to do it the "right way", and you don't fancy playing regular expression golf (trying to make sure you hit just the things you intend in mass search/replaces), and you really can't be arsed to remember how to do multi-line regexps.
Solution
Write a script that automatically splits a tmux session into however many panes you need, then launches a vim session in each one, one per file. Then all you have to do is turn on synchronize-panes, and away you go!
Here is the most minimal version of this I could come up with. A much nicer version follows, but this is more useful as a building block, because maybe you want to use it for similar-but-not-identical inappropriate purposes:

Important limitation: The above can only do a single session at a time, because the session name ("editors") is fixed. Interesting things happen if you try to run another copy simultaneously.

I swear to god the first time I saw the animated version of Lotr I thought they are something like a pokemon evolution. I feel like this is one of the most important things that should have been done a long time ago.
A child might love singing, dancing, acting and etc but that doesn’t mean that parents should rush them to earn money and be the bread winner because of “ my kid’s passion”.
The other day I came across Z’s interview about how pressure of being breadwinner in the family took away her childhood.
I still don’t buy the bs blonde pop star selling that she had a dream to be a pop star while her dad’s leaked letter is very revealing how she didn’t convince her parents about her career, she was very much groomed into it.
Minor JB and his Diddy exposure is another horrible fact. After recent Diddy events, I can’t believe they let him to be around Diddy. A lot of traumatic sht happened in JB’s life and his depression is just a minor consequence alongside other fcked up things.
Children should live their lives as children and decide to pursue career when they are legal adult. Earning money from your child is very much the same with soliciting.

I see this on Reddit all the time "how can people still vote for Trump after he is convicted of a felony ? How can people vote for him after x, y, an z ?". I find it funny and frustrating how you all don't get it. You all really don't get it yet ? We don't like Trump. Trump is a very flawed person and I think he is too sloppy and makes too many mistakes and says too many stupid sh!t. So why would I crawl through glass to vote for him ?
Because I hate you, the smug white progressive reading this. We hate Democrats so much, that we are going to vote Trump so he can smash your crappy policies down. We hate the elite bourgeoisie liberal politicians. We hate Biden, the Democrat party, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Gavin Newsome, etc. Trump shows people that "hey, if you really hate these people, then vote for me. I will sabatoge everything they want to do". That's why we are wanting to vote for him.
We hate DEI, we hate the crappy economic policies that led to high inflation, we hate open borders, we hate the climate change fear mongering where they want to force us to stop buying gas powered cars by 2035 while Gavin Newsom/John Kerry is still able to fly around private jets, we hate the corruption like Nancy Pelosi and her insider trading, Biden being above the law by storing classified documents in his Wilmington garage while he does not get charged with it, the high crime rates in cities because progressive judges excuse certain people when they commit crime because of certain theories, the smug white progressive's "smart glasses" on MSNBC/CNN thinking they are so smart, and god damn I can go on and on.
We don't like Trump, we just hate you and your policies, and we know Trump pisses you all off so much that we take great pleasure in voting for him, but most imporantly we are voting against you all. I'm talking to a lot of conservatives and watching a lot of conservative podcasts now, and we are pretty much thinking and saying the same things.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that I actually voted for DeSantis in the primaries and wanted DeSantis to be the primary nominee, but oh well. It's a two party system and democracy is letting me to vote against the party in power if I don't like their policies.

I am curious about how Portage works in more details, and from my observation, the ebuild files that Portage uses for compilation are extremely similar to your normal Bash scripts: they define variables and functions the same way, they use the same syntax for conditionals, and they even use the to run another command if the first one fails. The only real difference is that ebuilds, among other things, source a bunch of variables from make.conf or the env directory and then they also have extra functions like emake, ewarn, die, and others. One logical way how I would piece it together is that ebuilds are actually normal Bash scripts and these additional functions are defined somewhere else, and everything Portage (and ebuild executable in particular) do is they load the ebuild file, source the environment and invoke the ebuild stages as Bash processes. I thought the ebuild.sh file might be related to this, but after a quick inspection, it has a lot of things but it doesn't define either of these:

The ebuild(1) manpage also tells this file should be at /uslib/portage/bin/ebuild.sh, but for some reason it doesn't exist at that destination.
So am I right that ebuilds are ultimately executed as shell scripts or is ebuild a whole interpreter that runs them?

I have a need to start an x session, in a windowed box, to my remote computer. I thought it would be most appropriate to use Xephyr to do this, so I wrote a script to help me start my session.
It mostly works, but there's something missing with inherited authority I think. I get errors about policykit trying to open networkmanager, and if I attempt to use discover, the flatpak backend tips over with the message "Aborted due to failure (Flatpak system operation Deploy not allowed for user)"
I'm thinking this is a problem where KDE doesn't "see" the authority needed for certain privileges. How do I start my forwarded session correctly?
