2024.06.01 13:16 No_Sample_9558 Visa finally granted!

After 4 months and 15 days, I finally received my visa grant yesterday, 31 May 2024. I had three deferrals and I'm from the Philippines taking up Master of Social Work at Australian College of Applied Professions.
Just want to share the good news and possibly lift people who have been waiting for their result for so long up. It will come!

2024.06.01 12:53 Historical-Salad-947 Need info regarding entry rules at the Ukrainian border for volunteer with no visa.

Need info regarding entry rules at the Ukrainian border for volunteer with no visa.
I have a question regarding border crossing from Poland to Ukraine.
I am scheduled to enter Ukraine in a months time. My passport requires visa to enter Ukraine. I already have Shengen visa for Poland and my Invitation letter to come to Ternopil.
I tried to apply for Ukrainian visa at the embassy and I did send my Invitation letter to them as well, to which they replied back saying President's decree guarantees visa free regime for Volunteers who are approved for serving in Ukrainian armed forces.
In my opinion, though I have the Invitation letter, i am not approved to join yet until I sign a contract. I asked the embassy the same question to which they copy and pasted the same reply as before which is understandable.
I just wanna make sure that I have the correct info before I start my journey. Imagine I come all the way to Ukrainian border only to find out that I can't enter the country because I don't have a visa lol.
Anyone experienced the same?

2024.06.01 12:19 EveryReason2485 A Bit Of an Early Post About My Enquiries.

I'm a student who's planning to study in Germany. I took my Goethe B1 Exam last week and hoping that I'll pass and continue working on my language. Applying to universities all around Germany as well. But this post isn't the one to enquire but more of just to catch a feeling about y'all. Social media is toxic and we all know that, IG has been pushing a lot of German Political Content to my feed from both sides the AFD which to my understanding doesn't like international student (Especially ones from the middle east like myself) and the other sides which promotes that Germany and the German people welcome anyone who's willing to come to their land and work and create a family and a life there (AKA be a normal productive member in society). I also have an American friend (F34) who told me that the later way of thinking is more common. But I didn't actually take her words to the heart as things maybe different based on place of origin and where you're planning to live in Germany. So I thought that I'd take it to reddit and ask the people directly. How do you feel about international students in general? and according to my experience online I'll answer a question in advance: If I hopefully had the opportunity to move to Germany (Visa & Admission Letter and the rest...) then I'm not planning to just benefit from the tuition free education and leave Germany for a better place, I actually want to create a stable life if I had the chance and even work on achieving my dreams inside of Germany because my field - as I heard - is still growing and has tons of potential for development in Germany and because (this one is a personal reason) I like way y'all are specifically the dry sense of humor and Ruhezeit makes Germany attractive to me as a place. As I've said, this is not the full post because things aren't clear yet and idk if I'd get the chance, but I was really working on that chance for the past year and I hope that I'll get it. Thanks for reading <<3
Edit: I labeled it as Tourism wrongly, so sorry. I meant to label it as "Student" stuff. Edit 2: tons of typos, as someone who can't help but correct people, please feel free to correct what I did not correct now.

2024.06.01 12:12 chasingamy1994 Bringing medication and herbal supplements into Australia

I'm coming ro Australian in July, I'm taking 3 months supply medication and have arranged for a letter from my doctor to back this up.
I'm wondering about whether I need to do the same for supplements?
I take magnesium glycinate every night for bruxism, this hasn't been perscribed to me by a doctor, but I've found it to be really helpful. Would I need a letter from the doctor to back up that I need these? Magnesium glycinate is kind of hard to get hold of, even in the UK where I'm from, so it would be a lot easier to just bring it with me.
Anyone else brought supplements with them?

2024.06.01 12:04 RoveForever International student in UK applying for e-visa

I am currently pursuing a master's degree in the UK, and my final lecture for the semester is on the 18th of June. However, my submission is on the 3rd of July, marking the end of the term. I am not physically required to be at the university since the submission is online. Therefore, I went ahead and booked tickets to Thailand (I have a family wedding) for the 19th of June.
I applied for an e-visa and was asked to provide a letter from my employer addressing the Royal Thai Embassy in London. Since I am a full-time student, I requested a letter from my university. Unfortunately, they did not accept the request and said they couldn't authorize it since it's during term-time.
I emailed them explaining the situation, but since I am running out of time, I submitted a letter I received from the university earlier, which says "To Whom It May Concern."
My question is: will this affect my visa? Thank you in advance.

2024.06.01 11:46 AssaultMode Affirm got charged off, best course of action?

Hi guys. Long story short is a family member during Christmas went through affirm for a Nintendo switch which was returned but monthly payments were still really high ended up being more than one item which they weren’t aware of .
Didn’t mention on app about this but eventually a total of 260 ended up being charged off. I still have 2 days to pay before it’s sent to collection. I called and they said I could do the monthly payment of 80$ but it’s not a guarantee that it won’t be sent off to a creditor where as if I paid it over the phone that it would be.
I’m off right now for work for medical reasons but I’m 25 so would like to still obviously take care of my credit, is the best case to just pay 260?
Should I ask affirm to send a letter in writing to gurantee it’s not being sent off or is that only with a creditor I do that?
Regardless if it’s being sent to my credit report or not may as well just deal with it I’m thinking. Thanks

2024.06.01 11:24 rainbowlory246 How to work and travel Europe as AU citizen?

I (25F) am planning to move to Europe next year. I am an Australian and Russian citizen (not that it helps my goal). By that time I will have had 2 years product owner (tech) experience. My goal is to find a product owner or tech-related remote job that pays well and live in a lower cost city.
Example- Get a job in London but work and base myself in both London and other countries in Europe. E.g 2 months London, 1 month Portugal, 1 month Spain, 1 month France, back to London.
What working visas/ digital nomad visas should I be looking into to make this dream a reality? I understand I will need a UK working visa to get a job based in London, but from what I know I still won’t be able to freely travel EU countries/ Schengen regions for longer than 3 months at a time. How would this work? Would a Uk working visa + digital nomad visa help me achieve this?
Main goals -decent paying remote job (maybe London-based) -freedom to work from other EU lower-cost countries as I please -open to other countries too.

  1. Is there ways to get a sponsorship on my own with an offer letter from a company?
  2. For a company to sponsor visas do they need something like a sponsor license? How does this work? I’m wondering if I can convince them that I’m worth the effort but I want to understand what the procedure is first
Thanks a lot in advance 🙏🏼🌸

2024.06.01 10:07 gracilenta School Visa and Sick Dad

context:
so, i’m currently a language school student, and i have another year of study left, but i had been planning to make the move to graduate school for the fall intake.
however, my father has cancer and his condition is worsening. i am thinking that i would like to go back home for a little while when this term ends at the end of June to spend time with him, and then come back Spring 2025, or Fall 2025 at the latest, on a new student visa sponsored by my graduate school.
questions:
•since i am planning to come back within the year, should i put my things in a storage facility, so i don’t have to 1) figure out how to throw away all my things, and 2) re-buy everything when i come back ?
•will it look weird to Immigration if i quit language school on this current student visa, just to apply for another student visa in 6-12 months ? is there a time limit on when i can get another visa ? when applying for the new visa, should i include a letter explaining everything ?

2024.06.01 10:02 Kitchen_Toe_7616 Requesting a reading

I’m genuinely not earning as of now & I have put up all my savings. I just have one question and wanted to know if it’s a yes or no & if it’s the right direction for me?
To tell you all , I have received an offer letter from a university called La Trobe, Australia. There’s a problem about financial aspect, stating my dad’s ITR ( income tax return is less ). This all is basically considered for granting me a visa & admission in this university. So my question is , Will I successfully get my admission in this particular university and fly in month of July,2024 to Australia. I have been dealing with so much anxiety and stress and that now it’s affecting my health in bad ways. Past 2 days I m having fever and bad headache.
The anxiety is genuinely killing me. I know what this exactly feels like, because I have prior got rejection from other universities and it was hella bad feeling. This is my one last attempt for Australia. I m really looking forward to this university Can you please , I REQUEST . please consider this reading?

2024.06.01 09:56 MediaParticular6666 Girlfriend got fired from her day care job and needs advice

My girlfriend has worked at a daycare for five months and just passed her probation period. Today, she was fired because she was allegedly yelling at the children, an issue for which she had already received a written warning . Her boss claims to have heard her yelling again today and fired her immediately.
The daycare center is a well-known name, and the center where my girlfriend works is one of its branches. Her boss is the supervisor. My girlfriend thinks to confront this issue is a too big burden for her at this point because she needs a visa. She isn't convinced that the head office will support her, not the boss. She rather wants to move on and find another job. But I'd still want to seek for advice what's best option for her because she doesn’t deserve this termination.
I may not be entirely objective in presenting her defense and the unfairness she feels because of our relationship, but please allow me to explain her situation:
  1. In her defense, my girlfriend states that she was not yelling but was making a loud sound to get all the children’s attention for lunch. Her boss said that the lunch lady and other teachers heard her yelling, but the teachers in the same classroom as my girlfriend said there was no yelling or anything that might have upset the children. While she admitted to yelling during the first incident of what she received a warning, she insists that this time she did not. It's essentially her word against her boss's, but the teachers in her classroom defend her. She is uncertain if others outside the classroom actually heard her yelling or if it is just her boss's bluff.
  2. Her boss is known for favoritism and taking advantage of teachers who need working visas, including my girlfriend. My girlfriend is Asian, and many of her coworkers are from India, meaning they need their working visas to stay in Canada. Although my girlfriend hasn't experienced overt unfair treatment directly, she has complained to me about the boss being subtly racist toward non-Canadian teachers, such as not approving holidays without reason and ignoring messages from non-Canadian teachers. Many teachers who aren’t Canadian feel the same way. My girlfriend's closest coworker believes that she should challenge the boss's favoritism to get her job back, as there are teachers willing to back her up. (This might be tricky though, because they will be afraid to lose their job if they defend my girlfriend).
  3. Despite the situation, my girlfriend is a good teacher. She has strong bonds with the children and parents, who have often complimented her even though she has only worked for five months. When she first started, the center was disorganized, with teachers not engaging with the children. She couldn't let that happen and worked hard to improve the situation, even without much help from her coworkers. Now, with her new coworkers, she has helped make the center organized and well-run, leading the efforts. Her leadership has been acknowledged by the center coordinator, cleaning staff, and parents, though not by her boss, who is rarely present in the room. The boss likely wouldn’t even notice the improvements. Her coworker believes the termination was too sudden and unfair, and at least two or three parents are willing to write letters to the center to support her reinstatement because they recognize she is a good teacher.
My girlfriend is heartbroken. She cried because the firing was sudden, because she doesn’t remember yelling, because she needs her visa, but most of all, she cried the most because she couldn’t say goodbye to the children. As it seems like my girlfriend won’t take action herself, I’m seeking advice on her behalf. What should she do next?

2024.06.01 08:43 ArrivalFinancial332 Visa question - what is “pandemic cover”

Hello! I am an Australian applying for a working holiday visa in Germany. One requirement for the application is travel insurance “including coverage for pandemics like e.g Covid-19”. Does anyone know what this means specifically? Will it be enough to have an insurance policy that has unlimited medical cover , or will I need insurance that covers “travel costs” due to Covid? Any help is greatly appreciated :-)

2024.06.01 08:07 Particular-Guard-862 144 hour TWOV success - and advice (British Airways)

Reddit
I wanted to share my very recent experience (22 May) of using the 144-hour TWOV route into China. I found information provided by others on Reddit extremely helpful and that information made it all work for me. My routing was Barcelona-London Heathrow-Shanghai on British Airways and I was travelling for business on a British passport. My third country on leaving China was Vietnam (HCMC) on China Southern Airlines. I planned to stay in China for 5 days in total but still inside the 144 hours. In preparation for the trip I printed the following on the advice of others here: - All travel details including ticket and seat confirmations for onward travel and hotel names, addresses, phone numbers for Shanghai and HCMC - Print out in English of the latest Chinese gov TWOV policy which lists Shanghai as a destination - Timatic/IATA screenshots inputted by me of my routing including Vietnam as the destination - not China, and BA as the carrier (more on this in a moment as to how BA may deal with this or not) - Contact details of my company colleagues in Shanghai (multinational company with major presence in China)
I suspected in advance that starting in Barcelona would be an issue due to lack of familiarity with TWOV of the check in staff. I would not have had the same concern if starting at LHR. And so this was indeed the case, so a word of warning for anyone using a non-major hub of a major carrier! Perhaps it is because Spanish nationals have been visa exempt for a while so the process is not well know to airline staff - same probably goes for other EU countries. I had tried in advance to call BA Spain but on mention of the words TWOV they (twice) put the phone down on me after saying it was one for the Chinese embassy (great customer service). I doubt that any airline staff will confirm the option is possible before you buy the ticket. Although the BA app let me check in online and made the boarding passes, this came with a “you must present your travel documents at the airport” caveat.
So I arrived about 30 mins earlier than normal in expectation of a fight and yes, the check in staff started off with “you need a visa”. I explained I was TWOV and showed them Timatic, which generated antibodies. (“we have worked here for a long time” sarcasm). I took it (with my bad Spanish) that they had seen this perhaps a handful of times before but they then spent about 10 minutes putting Shanghai as the destination. I explained that Vietnam had to be the destination. Cue another 10 minutes followed by no, we have to put Shanghai as we are flying you to Shanghai. I was starting to become pretty concerned at this point. I showed them again and let us call her the less sarcastic “good cop” check in agent moved to another terminal and phoned a colleague. Another 10 minutes later the colleague arrived and took over. At this point - magic - the routing worked and I was checked in. Major relief. I arrived at LHR and there was no need to repeat the process as both boarding passes given to me at BCN. I’ve been a loyal BA customer over the years so UK customer service will be hearing about the attitude problems.
On arrival into Shanghai you are presented first with a self-finger print scan (not needed for TWOV) and tables with the wrong (visa entry) landing cards. You have to keep going right up to the desks which are clearly marked 144 hour transit (lots of desks and not much of a queue for me) and the TWOV-specific landing cards are there on the side tables. On the landing card you can select tourism / business etc and I had no problems on selecting business (and was not asked for a letter of invite that colleagues travelling on visas needed to provide).
At the border desk they took a long look at my passport and did my fingerprints at the desk. Another border guard then came to the desk and called me to sit in a waiting area while he went off with my passport. I have a lot of passport stamps (very important for TWOV - NONE FROM TURKEY). Perhaps it was the stamps or because I didn’t make clear the onward seat number on my reservation print out…. but that was another 15 mins of anxious waiting, but eventually he came back with the TWOV sticker, stuck it in my passport and into China I went.
In summary: I would do this again but you’ll need to have strong nerves to handle the unaware check in staff. As I noted, I don’t think there is a way around this as no airline will say the TWOV is OK before booking. You just have to force it at the check-in desk and insist. Happy to answer Qs on this experience!

2024.06.01 07:57 Not_what_theyseem Can I sue university dept for breaking visa requirements?

This was a while ago, but as a person from a not very procedural country it never occurred to me until someone mentioned that possibility.
After obtaining a masters degree in my home country I applied for several PhD programs in the USA. Two of them accepted me and wanted me BAD. I made my choice based on reputation of the department. I now regret it.
-I came into this PhD program under a F1 visa -the F1 visa comes with the description of the financial engagement from the university, full scholarship to cover tuition + TA jobs to ensure my livelihood for 5 years.
So I uprooted my life, sold all of my belongings, and worst of all, I uprooted my husband putting him in a long distance custody matter with his son which pushed his ex wife to then move to my location. Basically my academic endeavor that was supposed to give me a doctorate and a pretty bright future changed everyone's life around me.
But things started to get pretty stressful when after the first semester I understood that the course I was a TA for didn't have any enrollment therefore I had no job. I waved my F1 and pushed some doors, they scrambled and found me a TAship not related to my field but related to something I had studied a lifetime ago.
Because of that I was given a lead TA position the following year for both semesters - GREAT!
But then, because I was granted this higher paying position two semesters in a row I was no longer guaranteed to have a TAship the following semester.
That's when I started going to everyone in the department and absolutely everybody said they had no idea why my F1 mentioned this amount of money to cover me, because they simply don't have it and they can't guarantee me a job every semester.
Now a F1 student isn't allowed to work outside of their institution.
At the time I was already pregnant, and simply could not afford this instability, so I resigned from the program, canceled my F1 and adjusted my status as I was married to a citizen.
I came to America to obtain a PhD, and now I am a middle school teacher. I love my job but as I see my peers becoming doctors, I should also have that title now in 2024 (year I was supposed to finish) and have higher paying prospects.
All was ruined because the department who recruited me could not hold their end of the contract that was my visa sponsored by the university.
Now the professor who was in charge of finding me TAships was fired over this. But I couldn't care less, all I cared about was to obtain the degree I moved countries for!
Anything I could have done or could still do? I left the program in June 2021.

2024.06.01 07:38 Dramatic_Savings3753 My attorney missed the RFE deadline for my U visa application

hi everyone, for context the RFE letter was sent to my immigration attorney back in late February 2024 and the deadline was this past Friday, May 24. I originally called Uscis to see if I can schedule an appointment at my local office to get an update on my case however when I called, they informed me that they sent a RFE letter back in February and that they hadn’t received anything. The Uscis agent did state that once submitting a response on time, it can take up to 60 days for them to process it, and advise that I ask my attorney whether they got the notice and whether they responded or not.
this obviously made me spiral as I had applied for the U visa back in 2016 which is almost 8 years from today and the agent did state that a denial can be result for not responding in time. When I spoke to my attorneys office they did confirm that the forms were somehow missed, but that they had them and that they didn’t respond to them because apparently they weren’t given to the right person or some bullshit like that. On the same day, I went ahead and collected the records and additional information that Uscis was requested and handed it to my attorneys office. My only concern is at my Uvisa application will not be either dismissed or denied due to the fact that they can potentially review it and make their decision without the additional medical documents needed.
can someone please let me know what options are moving for here, if there is any? I am looking into submitting a bar complaint for the attorney and changing attorneys, tho fear that it might be too late for that since the damage is basically done.

2024.06.01 07:14 Curious_poodle13 Got single entry despite showing 2 business invitation letters for different dates

Just sharing my recent experience with applying a business visa via VFS Italy in UAE. I’m so frustrated that after applying for multiple entry and providing all the necessary documents, I got a single entry visa only. I’ll be traveling for business purpose this June and on July. I clearly mentioned that in the form and provided 2 business invitation letters from our HQ which is based in Italy. Both dates have confirmed flight tickets and hotel reservations provided by our HQ. But when I received my passport, I was very surprised to see that they gave me 1 month only with Single entry which means I have to apply again for July. It’s not easy because there are no appointments available and I had to go almost everyday as a walk-in just to see if they can accommodate me because there’s no guarantee they will. I forgot to mention that on my July business trip, I added more days because I’m planning to go for a europe trip but even that, have hotel bookings and complete with documentations. Not sure if this affected my request for multiple entry? But it’s just unfair if that’s the case.
