Anthropologie furniture knockoffs

AIO for being outraged at toddlers behavior in furniture outlet?

2024.05.24 22:30 Sorry-Hospital1553 AIO for being outraged at toddlers behavior in furniture outlet?

So pretty soon I’ll be moving into a new apartment which is super exciting, however trying to bring mood boards to life can be super defeating when my favorite home stores are just so expensive. Anthropologie, RH, Urban, Pottery Barn: yes I mean you! But, I am super fortunate to live near the Anthropologie outlet near Pittsburgh where they have GREAT things for a fraction of the price. Some of the items are dirty or damaged or have a manufacturing error in some way but for the most part they are in good condition. Today I was there browsing the couches and chairs with my mom and I was shocked at the behavior of not one but two separate toddlers in the store throughout our visit. They were climbing on and walking all over the couches and chairs with their dirty shoes on as if it were a playground while the mothers payed little to no attention. I mean yes it’s discount furniture but people are still paying hundreds or even thousands for this stuff. I just found it so ridiculous and disrespectful. Obviously I didn’t say anything, just kind of carried on. I am 24 and I have no kids yet so maybe I just don’t get it but I mean come on. It seems so many young moms I see make their kids everyone else’s problem rather than just disciplining them on their own. Maybe I’m overreacting sure but there is no way my mother would have let me do that. Anyways, thoughts?

2024.05.20 23:33 adventurepaul What's new in e-commerce? - Week of May 20th, 2024

Hi ShopifyeCommerce - I'm Paul and I follow the e-commerce industry closely for my Shopifreaks E-commerce Newsletter. Each week I post a summary recap of the week's top stories, which I cover in depth in the newsletter. Let's dive in...
STAT OF THE WEEK: Amazon could finally surpass Walmart to become the nation’s biggest company by revenue, having grown by 12% last year compared with Walmart's growth of 6%. Two more years of similar growth discrepancy would push Amazon past Walmart in sales.
Shopify is suing Shopline in New York federal court, accusing it of illegally copying Shopify's software to build its own e-commerce platform. Shopline is a Singapore-based subsidiary of the Chinese technology company JOYY Inc. Shopify said in the lawsuit that Shopline created a “thinly disguised knockoff” of its Dawn theme to power a competing e-commerce service. The lawsuit even says that the “Shopify” name still appears in the code of various versions of Seed that Shopline is distributing, and that Shopify found a Chinese webpage hosted by Joyy with the title “Seed Theme” that still carries headers reading “dawn-test.”
In other lawsuit news this week — Temu is facing legal action from 17 companies accusing it of violating new EU laws with “manipulative practices” such as making it difficult to delete your account, and lack of transparency over who their sellers are and why certain products are recommended to customers. Temu was the most downloaded app in the UK in 2023 and still remains as a top downloaded app in 2024.
The state of Arizona has taken legal action against Amazon, launching two lawsuits that accuse the company of monopolistic behavior and deceptive practices involving dark patterns. The first lawsuit claims that Amazon's business practices violate the state's Consumer Fraud Act by employing dark patterns to make it difficult for users to cancel their Amazon Prime subscriptions. The second lawsuit alleges that Amazon breaches Arizona's Uniform State Antitrust Act by maintaining a monopoly via enforcing agreements with third-party sellers to prevent them from offering lower prices on other platforms. It also challenges Amazon's Buy Box algorithm under the Consumer Fraud Act, claiming that it favors sellers who use Fulfillment By Amazon. The legal actions echo similar complaints from the FTC and various states.
Last week Amazon made a big splash with its first-ever event during upfront week, taking over Pier 36 in New York which has previously hosted upfront presentations from Disney and TelevisaUnivision. The company called on celebrities including Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon, Will Ferrell, and Alicia Keys to demonstrate how premium their content is. Amazon worked to separate itself from its competitors by showcasing its scale. Prime Video now has an average monthly ad-supported reach of 200M customers, with 115M in the US, making it the largest premium ad-supported streaming service both globally and in the U.S. It also announced new upcoming series such as Spider-Man Noir, Tomb Raider, and a prequel to Legally Blond.
eBay launched a new feature called “resell on eBay” that is designed to make it easier for brands and consumers to list clothing for sale on its marketplace. The feature is built into Certilogo, which was acquired by eBay in 2023, which features an AI-powered digital ID printed on the product tag to help brands manage the lifecycle of their garments and give consumers a way to confirm the item's authenticity. Users scan a QR code on a product's smart label to generate a “resell your garment” button. Clicking the button directs the user to check the authenticity of the item through Certilogo's AI authentication system by signing in with their eBay account. From there, an eBay listing is prefilled with information from the brand about the item. Users can then edit the listing, upload additional photos, and publish the item for sale.
Poshmark launched a new paid marketing tool called “Promoted Closets” that gives sellers the ability to promote their entire shop at once. The tool uses machine learning to automatically promote individual product listings from a seller's entire inventory, identifying shoppers' search terms and matching them with promoted items. Promoted Closet works on a cost per click model where sellers only get charged when a shopper clicks and views the item from a promoted listing. There's an option to set the budget manually or get a recommendation from Poshmark. Each campaign lasts for 7 days.
Klarna says that it is not sharing its customer data with credit bureaus in the US because the bureaus “do not have proper models to responsibly process the data and ensure good consumer outcomes.” It does share its data with UK credit bureaus. Klarna added that the credit models used today in the US “were built decades ago and calculate data based on monthly payments, long-term loans, and open lines of credit. But BNPL does not fit into these categories.” The company claims that BNPL is different because it offers bi-weekly instead of monthly payments, and unlike a credit card, Klarna doesn't offer an open line of credit.
Third party sellers on Amazon, which make up 60% of sales on Amazon's marketplace, are reconsidering how heavily they'll discount products this year for Prime Day, given how much seller fees have increased on the platform in recent months, according to Modern Retail. According to data from SmartScout, Amazon FBA fees for standard-sized products have jumped 96% over the past 10 years, outpacing inflation. Seller fees can eat up about half the cost per sale on Amazon, according to Marketplace Pulse. That doesn't leave much room for running Prime Day deals, which primarily benefit Amazon as opposed to the individual merchants who are pressured to wipe out their little remaining margin for the sake of running a deal at all.
Netflix announced durings it Upfronts presentation that it's launching its own advertising platform to compete against Google, Amazon, Hulu, Comcast, and other ad giants. Amazon has only been in the advertising business for a year and a half after launching its ad-supported tier in Nov 2022. Netflix originally partnered with Microsoft to develop its ad tech, which let the streaming platform enter the ad space quickly and catch up with rivals like Hulu, which has offered an ad-supported tier since 2010. Launching its own in-house ad tech will allow Netflix to take full control of its advertising and create targeted and personalized ad experiences. Netflix wants to experiment with “episodic” campaigns, which involves a series of ads that tell a story rather than delivering repetitive ads. Brilliant!
Slack is under attack after users discovered that the company has been using their messages, content, and files to train its global AI models, which Slack uses to power their channel and emoji recommendations and search results. It was discovered that if you don't want Slack to use your data, you have to e-mail the company to opt-out, which isn't a good look for a company that makes a big deal out of telling customers that “You control your data.” In response to the outrage, Slack published a blog post to clarify how its customers' data is used.
Google will now let you perform a “web” search, which lets you filter out almost all of its AI results and knowledge panels that currently take over its SERPs, leaving you with just links and text like the old days. The order of the search results are the same regardless of whether you pick “web” or “all”, and it doesn't block links to YouTube videos or Reddit posts. There are also still ads that appear above and below the results.
YouTube is officially launching its YouTube Select “creator takeovers,” which lets advertisers buy out the ad inventory on channels representing the top 1% of content on the platform. The program began as a pilot at the end of 2023 and is now opening to more top creators.
Wix launched three new AI-powered image enhancement and creation tools to help users create and display high-quality images. The new tools include an AI Image Creator to make the images, Object Eraser to remove unwanted objects in the images, and AI Image Editor to add/edit portions of the image. Honestly, the three tools kind of sound like one tool with three features, but you do you, Wix.
Temu, which is already 20% bigger than Shein in the US and gets 42% of its business from the US, Mexico, and Chile, is turning its attention to Europe and wants to grow rapidly in the region. The company has redirected its enormous ad spend to Europe and Mexico while Washington scrutinizes its business practices in the US.
Visa announced major changes to how its credit and debit cards will operate in the US in the coming months and years. The new features mean consumers will be carrying fewer physical cards in their wallets, and will make the 16-digit card number increasingly irrelevant. The biggest change will be the ability for banks to issue one physical card that is connected to multiple bank accounts, which consumers can apply usage rules to.
Mastercard and Salesforce announced a new integration designed to help customers speed up the resolution of transaction disputes and chargebacks, as well as reduce costs associated with resolving them. The partnership will integrate Salesforce's Financial Services Cloud with Mastercard's dispute resolution services, providing real time notifications and a central dashboard for managing disputes.
Meta is taking inspiration from BeReal and Snapchat by developing a feature for Instagram called “Peek” that allows users to post authentic pictures that can only be viewed once. A photo shared via a Peek would have to be taken with your camera in the moment, as you would not be able to upload an image from your gallery, and you won't be able to add filters or edit the photo.
Ikea launched a TikTok livestream where cats and dogs model and demonstrate new Ikea products for pets. The Pet Shopping Network will appear for everyone in the UK on TikTok and showcase pets demonstrating Ikea's 29-piece pet furniture range.
Sam's Club is planning to launch an online shopping portal in Hong Kong within the next two months, giving the territory access to its products via e-commerce. The service will include free delivery for purchases over 599 yuan ($83).
Amazon raised warehouse worker wages to $15/hour five years ago, but today half of workers surveyed told researchers they struggle to afford food and rent. Amazon called the researcher's methodology “deeply flawed” and said the company had tried to raise its concerns with the study’s authors but never heard back.
Lots of layoffs this week… Amazon laid off more than 100 customer service reps, Walmart let go of hundreds of corporate staffers and ordering employees across the US and Canada, Gopuff laid off 6% of its staff, and Indeed laid off 8% of its workforce.
Remember that former diversity program manager at Facebook who stole more than $4M from the company through fake business deals in exchange for kickbacks? I first reported on Barbara Furlow-Smiles in December of last year when she pled guilty to the theft. Well, last week she was sentenced to five years and three months in prison for her scheme.
In the world of corporate turnover… The chief of Amazon Web Services, Adam Selipsky, is stepping down next month after a three-year term to be replaced by Matt Garman, a senior VP who has overseen sales and marketing at AWS. Also, eBay's VP of Global Communications, Michelle Friedman, departed the company to take on a role at Samsara, a cloud platform built for tracking and analyzing data from physical operations.
Meta is shutting down Workspace, a version of Facebook that had been built to enable communication among business teams and organizations. Sources say that it will be business as usual on the platform until August 25, 2025, and then it will be read-only until May 2026. Meta is recommending Zoom-owned Workvivo as a migration-ready alternative.
Ted Baker Canada is holding store-closing clearance sales across locations in the US and Canada after filing for bankruptcy in April. As of May 10th, online shopping is no longer available and all sales are final across the company's brick-and-mortar retail locations.
Sezzle, a US-based BNPL service, partnered up with Celerant Technology, a POS system for retailers, to offer a BNPL option when checking out in-store . The two companies had partnered in 2023 to offer BNPL options online, and now the solution is being brought to brick-and-mortar stores.
BuyBay, a Dutch recommerce platform, is launching a SaaS product using its own recommerce software. Retailers and manufacturers can now resell unreturned products from their own distribution center, which helps reduce CO2-emissions and increase profits.
Setapp Mobile, a subscription-based alternative to the Apple App Store that's now possible thanks to the EU's Digital Markets Act, went into invite-only beta last week. The new app store allows customers to play with a range of apps without being hit with reduced features, ads, options to upgrade, and without spending money on something they may not use. The biggest challenge with the Setapp iOS store is getting the app installed on your iPhone, which involves following a link, installing software, and then activating it — a process made intentionally cumbersome by Apple.
Avalara expanded its partnership with Shopify by joining the Shopify Tax Platform. Avalara has powered tax calculation for Shopify Plus customers since 2015, and now through the Shopify Tax Partner Platform, the company can serve all Shopify customers with their global tax compliance tools.
Walmart delivered 4.4B items the same day or next day, beating Amazon, which said it did 4B items in one day. Walmart's advantage is that it uses stores for its same-day deliveries.
Plus 9 seed rounds, IPOs, and acquisitions of interest including Gorgias's $29M Series C-2 round, which it plans to use the funds from to launch its new AI Agent.

2024.05.09 21:26 edgestander The Noguchi "knockoff" that came first.

In 1944 George Farkas was put in charge of redesigning the Royal suite at the Roney Plaza hotel in Miami. This was the suite the Duke and Dutchess of Windsor stayed in. For this he designed a coffee table with an organic ameboma like top and a base that pivoted with two blades of sculpted wood one pointing up and one pointing down. At the time the table was not put into production.
In 1948 Herman Miller would release "the Noguci table" to wide acclaim. Almost instantly there were knockoffs being made and marketed from local furniture stores to ads in design and home magazines. Around the same time (late 40's) the Noguci table came out another more obscure company began making a table that to most appeared to be a knockoff Noguci. It was by a company called Mil-Mode and it looked like this.
However, this was in fact a licensed version of Mr. Farkas's table that was designed in 1944.
It should also be pointed out that Noguci claimed that he presented the idea of the table to TH Robsjohn Gibbings in 1939. He also designed the Goodyear Table in 1939 which is based on a similar concept.

2024.05.06 12:10 AnonymousWoman925 I need a dining space. Where and what can I do?

I need a dining space. Where and what can I do?
Okay, I just moved into this apartment last week (excuse the mess, the paintings being too high, and the short drapes — these are all in process/temporary holdovers from last apartment!)
I plan on being here for a while. I love it and it’s large for NYC, but I desperately want to figure out a way to incorporate some sort of dining space that comfortably seats two without having us sit next to each other or adjust/pull out furniture to sit and eat. I thought I’d be able to fit a small one where the storage bins are, but it’s looking like I’ll loose the walkway to my desk (essential, I wfh).
I thought I might put it where the green bench is, but ultimately I like that the living area is separate. Before I just say “oh well” and get a bench with some stools or abandon having a dining area, I figured I’d check here for advice.
1) should I consider a bar height/counter height? Would a round or square or rectangle shape be less obtrusive? 2) I had my eye on the Quillen Bistro Table from Anthropologie, which is 36” in diameter. Is this a dumb idea? 3) I’ve looked at things like the folding table from IKEA, but ultimately I really want something that isn’t fully convertible. 4) I usually stand at my desk, so whatever dining chairs I get could also function as a desk chair when needed.
Product recs and general tips welcome!

2024.04.24 14:57 Naive-Sun2778 Contemporary brands with MCM influence

Any one have solid experience with new, affordable contemporary versions (not knockoffs) of Modern furniture design. So many I have looked at, either in the real (Crate and Barrel, Room and Board...) seem too pricey for the qualtity or not well designed ergonomically. I have started to look at "office" related companies, like Steelcase. I can't afford Herman Miller, DWR, etc. and don't want to risk the totally online "fast furniture" (China) brands; but if you have good experience with any of these, that would be helpful info.
Specifically, I am looking for dining chairs. I currently have the molded (bent) plywood MCM chairs made by Thonet, but they are nearing the end of their lifespan. I bought them used about 20 years ago; but they are great chairs that have spoiled me. My budget for 6 chairs is around 3K.
Thanks in advance

2024.04.20 02:17 Ambitious-Win-7201 Help me please!🙏

I am trying to freshen up my space - particularly the living room/dining and entry way, but I am in need of help. I used .5 photos just because I tried to capture more of the space. Biggest questions I have: 1. Should I get a round dining table instead? 2. “Bar” area - any ideas on a different piece of furniture that could go here that could provide the same purpose ? I love something like the Anthropologie fern cabinet but it’s so pricey 😅 3. I have so many blank walls and I have no idea what to do with them 4. Are the accent chairs too bulky for the space? Any suggestions on other chairs? 5. I feel like the entry space is also missing something - I need any and all ideas here.
Appreciate any suggestions but please be kind 😊 this is my first post and I’m scared haha

I got my first perfume at age 12, and have been collecting since. A lot of perfumes have been acquired and then sold again, but now I feel like my collection is complete! I guess perfume peace does exist, after all. Aside from these full bottles I also have a number of travel sprays, mini's and samples, which I might discuss another time.
I currently work a fairly technical office job in a big city. I would describe myself as a dreamy romantic, but also quite a serious person, with a tiny bit of tomboy. I love brands like The Kooples, Allsaints, Anthropologie for fashion.
From left to right, and I will add reviews for each one: 1. Chanel - No 5 EDP It was my mom's, but she gave it to me because I loved it so much. I don't wear it very often, but if I do wear it, it makes me feel cozy and at ease. Warm, powdery, floral and spicy to my nose. I will keep this forever. 2. Chanel - No 5 l'eau EDT This is my signature scent that I wear almost every day when I go to work, and have been doing so for the last 2 years. It's like sparkling water without the bitterness, slightly sweet. Very light, clean smelling and reminiscent of No 5 EDP. I love this so much and a little goes a long way. 3. Chanel - No 19 poudré EDP Very dense, powdery, carrot-iris. This perfume smells melancholic. I finished a decant first before getting this bottle. Sometimes I find it hard to wear, because it doesn't fit my "vibe" very often, but it's very beautiful. I am looking forward to wearing this when my life calms down a bit more. 4. Givenchy - Amarige EDT My most recent blind buy. I love this. It's floral, but very natural and smooth smelling. It's tuberose and honey. It's round and beautiful, timeless. Way more wearable than No 5 EDP, if we speak of classics. 5. Tom Ford - Mandarino di Amalfi Acqua EDT Snagged this blind for a good price. It is nice. I don't wear this type of fresh citrus scent often, but it has a nice floral side to it in the middle and dry down. I have only worn it once, so I would need to spend more time with it to get to know it better. 6. Tom Ford - Eau de Vert Bohème EDT Also a blind buy. Starts very green and a bit bitter. I like it, but it's short lived and I have also only worn it once so far. Nice for tropical summers, I think. 7. Marc Jacobs - Lola EDP Lola! I have had this bottle for 13 years, since I was 15. It was never my favorite. I think the geranium makes it tricky for me. But it's a nice, girly, also a little bit alternative and gothic. A warm rosy fall scent. Not bad, but it will take a while before I'm done with this bottle, and I mostly wear it for the memories. 8. Lancôme - Magnifique EDP I love, love, love this fragrance. It has a really unique scent if you ask me. Rose with spices, warm, feminine, heavy. It's been discontinued for a while and I was lucky to find this partial bottle on Ebay. It's a winter scent for sure. 9. Panier des Sens - Precious Jasmine EDT Very natural smelling jasmine scent. It's not indolic at all. It's light and clean and airy. I find this my most "cottage core" scent. 10. Guerlain - La Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraîche EDT Fruity floral, but very interesting. It has something creamy and tart about it, with pistachio and cherry, but still manages to stay fresh. I barely wear it, but smelling it puts me in a good mood! 11. Lancôme - Trésor in Love EDP Absolutely love this scent. It's a warm rosy peach scent. Very uplifting and romantic. 12. l'Occitane - Fleurs de Cérisier EDT Cherry blossom scent. It's fresh and easy to understand. Not my most-worn, but nice in warm weather. Can get a bit cloying. 13. The Master Perfumer - Absolute Iris EDT Very lovely dry, clean iris scent. La Vie Est Belle without any of the heaviness. I have almost gone through a travel size of this. Iris is my favorite flower, and this scent is perfect for everyday wear. 14. Pacifica - Enchanted Woods Perfume A blind buy at TJMaxx that I've had for a while. It smells a bit like licorice in the beginning, but once that has gone away it's a nice woody scent. I don't grab for it often, but it isn't bad. Reminds me of antique wooden furniture. 15. Therme - Zen White Lotus EDP Musky clean lotus scent. It's more for laundry than for skin, but I like it after showering. 16. Sofia Vergara - Sofia EDP Absolutely love this. I used to own Coco Mademoiselle, but after finishing a 50ml bottle I sold my 100 ml replacement because the citrus opening started to feel too sour for me. This is a lot rounder, but the cassis leaf still adds some green sharpness. Sweeter and fruitier too, with plum as the main top note. It is the sweetest fragrance I own. 17. Cerruti - Image Woman EDT Really lovely, modern, "clean" scent. It reminds me a bit of my No 5 l'Eau, although they are not similar at all. It also reminds me of my Softsoap "Fresh Breeze" handsoap. I like to spray this on my coat before heading out. Some leathery notes, but overall a very soft scent.
Not pictured: Lush's Lord of Misrule body spray, and Revlon Fleurs de Jontue Iris.

2024.04.08 08:10 Beginning_Arm95 A horror story that just happened to me about 30 minutes ago

Basically what the title says 😭😭 TW: May induce the feeling of wanting to hurl your laptop against the wall. You have been warned.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been what I can only describe as waterboarded by my classes with exams, projects, and all around busy work. After barely resurfacing with my life intact, I decided to give myself a break; I had a whole glorious 3 days off from school and I wanted to destress and relax before the 8th circle of hell rose back up again to swallow me with its gorilla grip thrussy. TL;DR: I was gonna rot in bed and play the Sims for 72 hours straight lmaooo
I decided to start fresh with a new save file and really spent the fattest minute creating a family with realistic and immersive backstories. I’m talking like I threw my whole back into this. I have genuinely never put so much effort in anything. I’m pretty sure I put less effort coming out of my mother during my own birth.
Anyways, I looked up names online, literally wrote backstories for them all, put together the perfect fits, and browsed the web finding the prettiest CC and furniture. Then, I spent 6-7 hours building an entire apartment from a bulldozed lot. (I know that’s long ass time designing a plot of land not even the size of a house. Listen. Listen. I’m not an interior designer. I have all the creative intellect of a piece of gym stuck to the bottom of someone’s knockoff Yeezy’s.)
I finished the whole thing, which consisted of cute bedrooms for the two teens that matched their individual aesthetics, a nice fancy master bedroom for the parents, bathrooms, the kitchen, etc. EVERYTHING. WAS. FURNISHED. DECORATED. DONE.
Finally, I start to play.
Suddenly, I see my sims start acting up something crazy. I’m talking like they would teleport and glitch through walls. The mother peed herself because she got stuck in a cushion. I’m like aw hell no.
Well, my laptop decided to aw hell yes.
The little shit crashes my game. I get kicked out of my cute handmade family and I’m left staring at the black screen of my 8.5 inch by 11 inch MacBook. (By the way, have yall ever seen yourselves while gaming? Cuz don’t do that if you still have any self esteem. I didn’t ever think I could produce that many chins at once.)
You know where this story is going; of course I didn’t save worth a damn. I frantically boot my laptop back up, all I’m left with is my little family in my gallery :,) Their apartment that I spent hours upon hours creating and designing? All gone.
So now I’m laying in bed typing this, truly speechless.
Like wow.
Goddamnit.

2024.03.29 14:15 Acceptable-Tear-206 Suzy Goose - Big Sister Set

Suzy Goose - Big Sister Set
This set just arrived. Super excited. It was NRFB, so never played with and not at all yellowed (as most plastic pieces of those sets do)
The bed didn’t come with a plastic Barbie mattress, but with a single piece of rectangular cardboard. There was no bedding either.
The wardrobe was pretty great, the hinges are super tight, and the plastic pieces were inside the closet ready to be installed (the racks, the shelf, drawers…)
For the vanity, the mirror was not installed. And it had to be put together. There was no telephone piece, only the receiver part of the phone. But there was TWO Kleenex box in this. Either they made a mistake replacing the phone with a Kleenex box or either they didn’t have any more phone pieces while putting this set together so they decided to still include an extra piece.
What is crazy is that the name Barbie is not on the vanity. Usually it is at the front, but they deliberately filled it in with pink plastic. And since there is absolutely no mention of Barbie anywhere on the box, i think this set was put together at the end of the Suzy Goose furniture life cycle, and that they wanted to boost sales. Maybe by not mentioning Barbie to customers, they would be more inclined to purchase this set even if they had a knockoff Barbie doll, or a Tammy, or a tressy…

2024.03.29 03:24 FreshStarter20 Cloud Sectional Sofas. Anywhere Local To Actually SIT On One?

I know they sell cloud (aka: down-filled) sectional sofas at Restoration Hardware and the LoveSac stores, but can anyone recommend any furniture places in FTL or MIA that have cloud (or overstuffed-style modular) sectionals on display?
I was >THIS< close to buying a pretty cloud couch online, but something stopped me.
I've gone to all the websites and read all the reviews, good and bad: For every 1 great review, there are 2 hidden reviews of people paying thousands and getting stuck with defectives that can't be refunded, or waiting months just to get an inferior knockoff from Vietnam.
I'd love to buy mine the old fashioned way of seeing the fabric up close, sitting on it, and testing it out IRL. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks

2024.02.19 03:10 bobear2017 Anyone ever buy polyester upholstered furniture from Anthropology?

Anyone ever buy polyester upholstered furniture from Anthropology?
I have been eying these chairs from Anthropology for a while; however, I am nervous about keeping them clean. They say they are 100% polyester and cleaning instructions say to professionally clean. I am wondering if anyone else has polyester chairs or sofa from Anthropologie and can share your experience with them. Do they stain easily? Can you easily spot clean? They would not be used much day to day, but would be used for entertaining (and we have kids/pets, so I worry they could get dirty from people/animals passing by them). I’m so indecisive with furniture purchases so I would really love any insight you have!

2024.02.18 00:22 KingR2RO I need a projector that's entry level but can handle any angle

I've missed my chance to get the Samsung Freestyle 2nd Gen on sale for $600.
This is the type of projector I'm looking for. Portable between living room and bedroom (I'm looking to replace the TVs in the house with a projector).
In Both rooms I need to place the projector off to the side (there is no way around this because of room construction, furniture, and cats). The ability to angle the Freestyle in any direction and have 4 point keystone is paramount in my needs.
So far what I've found is either the Samsung Freestyle at $500 for Gen 1, $800 for Gen 2, or a knockoff style for like $100.
If there is another shape of projector that can angle the projection in any direction (within settings and not by moving the projector) while having 4-point keystone, that would greatly be appreciated.

Maximum budget.
--$600

Screen size.
-- anything decent for everyday tv.

Distance from back wall or preferred mounting position to screen wall.
--roughly 6ft

Seating distance to screen.
--ceiling 5ft, couch 6ft, bed 8ft

How will you mount? (ceiling, rear shelf, table)
-- no mount anywhere. It will be on basically night stand type of spots.

Usage: Movies, TV, Games, Sports, etc.
-- Movies, TV, Nintendo

Room type: Dedicated, Mixed use, Living room.
--Living and bedrooms

Ambient light, through lighting or light leakage from windows?
--Blinds halfway down. pretty good amount of light coming in.

Room colors: Walls, Ceiling, and floors.
-- All White walls and ceiling. Floors are either light wood or grey carpet

2024.02.13 13:49 roundspongebob What is the exact era appropriate for MSW Militia

Hey all, I recently got back into guns and a reviewer has piqued my interest in MilSim airsoft. I don't have any kit purchased yet, but I've been trying to make a "universal" set up for both MSW and AMS, and I wanted to be Green Team and either RUSFOR or Militia because I already have a lot of experience running actual western weapons and would like to try something new. Also Multicam only is too restrictive.
AMS doesn't have any provisions for RUSFOR uniform camo (they're fine with any color tactical gear, though) and they require a combat shirt or BDU top.
Anyway, I've come to a couple different loadout options and would like feedback before I buy anything. Any way I go with the uniform I would be getting an AK-74 with wood furniture and probably keeping it stock since that has been available for forever.
Option 1: Zaslon. This is the first conclusion I came to, but I understand they are not RUSFOR under the TACSOP and may be too modern/high speed for Militia. They use private american uniforms in solid green and Russian protective/loadbearing equipment, meaning on paper they would be Militia but they're also an elite Russian unit tasked with embassy/ambassador protection.
Option 2: OD/M81 BDUs. I don't really like this, it feels too Cold War American to me. It covers the rules though, and type 56 rigs are cheaply and readily available. But still, if I saw this set up myself I would think of an American seriveman who picked up a Type 56 in the field rather than a Slavic militia member.
Option 3: OD/M81 Crye knockoffs. This is the major concern. I know some eastern forces are doing this but is it too modern to be militia gear? It doesn't violate TACSOP but does feel like it might not be in the spirit.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Diy bedframe
Hey guys, I've been looking at this bedframe for some months now. I decided I'm gonna build and upholster this baddie myself. I really wanna mock the design as much as possible "as far as the shape goes". going with my own upholstery fabric though. *Key things I want advice with. - Edge curves> getting that curve on the edge of the bed it's about 5in wide, I love the wide curve its a must. -Side and front pannels> should I go with a thick piece of wood? Or should I create rectangle frames for all the side panels and upholster that? To get the same thick panels as the fronts and sides, like the picture. -Hardware> I want the pieces to latch into place. Something I can take apart and put back together without too much of a hassle. What would be the name or examples of something like that. Shower me with advice!
