Happy vs hiding on vacation
Rybelus (pill form Ozempic) - I didn’t follow the rules. I tried 14 mgs out of the gates (waaaay too strong), broke pills in half to titrate down (big no no) and had on and off stretches for the first two months to ease side affects and see if I could get my body used to sema.
After my fourth “break”—to my surprise and delight—the side affects were gone. Stick with it!!!!
Experiencing life without “food noise” for the first time ever (and doing it my way, on my terms, just listening to my body daily) has revealed my hard wiring to self soothe with food. This isn’t trauma based. I was born like this.
I’m finally forgiving myself for my binging, cravings and lack of self-control. I needed a break from the food noise to even recognize it, and realize I could feel satiated without food being the delivery system.
We all know the difference between “hiding” on vacation and feeling “happy” on vacation.
Just a 45 yr old mom on a mission to feel comfortable and able in my body, and to quit talking sh1t about myself to myself.
No goal weight. Just goal adventures!

2024.06.01 12:09 Normodox Despite string of pro-Palestinian statements, CUNY faculty union rejects Israel boycott

The City University of New York's faculty union rejected a resolution calling for an Israel boycott. The decision may relate more to salary negotiations than to views on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Three years after voting to “consider” boycotting Israel, and weeks after defending a pro-Palestinian student encampment, the faculty union of the City University of New York overwhelmingly rejected a resolution calling for an Israel boycott.
The union’s president actively opposed the resolution, saying that it inappropriately singled out Israel. But insiders say the Professional Staff Congress’ rejection may have had more to do with the union’s salary negotiations than any principled view about the Israel-Hamas war, which has roiled the CUNY system.
The resolution called for the university system to carry out a number of steps that anti-Israel protesters have called for at CUNY and dozens of other colleges and universities across the country this spring.
“Ban all academic trips to the Zionist state, encompassing birthright, Fulbright, and perspectives trips,” the proposal said. “Cancel all forms of cooperation with Israeli academic institutions, including events, activities, agreements, and research collaborations.”
The measure, called Resolution in Support of CUNY Gaza Solidarity Encampment, also demanded that CUNY divest from all “companies complicit in the imperialist-zionist genocide” as well as for full transparency regarding CUNY’s investments.
The resolution also called for the NYPD, which arrested dozens of people when dismantling City College’s encampment weeks ago, to be banned from campus. It called on CUNY to reinstate professors fired for anti-Israel activism — though it did not specify who it was referring to.
The resolution endorsed a Palestinian right of return to Israel, which many Israelis view as tantamount to the end of Jewish sovereignty in Israel. And it called for a “fully-funded, free CUNY that is not beholden to zionist and imperialist private donors.”
The union’s 300-member delegate assembly, its central policy-making body, rejected the resolution by a vote of 117 to 40, according to a spokesperson.
Manfred Philipp, a former member of the delegate assembly who has maintained ties to the union, said he believes the resolution was voted down because it would have been detrimental to the PSC’s interests, not because of union members’ views on the conflict. The union has an obligation to negotiate salary contracts for its members, and the anti-Israel resolution could have hurt the union’s chances of securing a salary increase from city and state lawmakers who are sympathetic to Israel, Philipp said.
“The basis of the opposition to the resolution has nothing to do with the situation in the Middle East. It has everything to do with the interests of the union and the university,” said Philipp, who taught at CUNY’s Lehman College for decades before retiring around a decade ago.
“The union’s self-interest says they should not take a position on this at all,” he said, adding that he supported the result of the vote.
The PSC says it represents 30,000 faculty and staff across CUNY’s 25 colleges. Its delegate assembly includes representatives from each college’s chapter and the 27 general officers in the union’s executive council.
Ahead of the vote, union president James Davis sent an email to the delegate assembly opposing the resolution, saying the measure had been rushed through without proper input from union members, and that it only targeted Israeli universities, not “universities in countries engaged in serial human rights abuses or committing genocide, a singularity that many of our colleagues would find objectionable.”
Earlier this month, the union condemned a pro-Palestinian strike by its own members. But previously, it has taken pro-Palestinian positions and has drawn accusations of discrimination from Jewish faculty. In recent weeks, the PSC demanded charges be dropped against protesters at the pro-Palestinian encampment, condemned police action against protesters and backed protesters at Columbia University.
A group of Jewish professors sued the PSC in 2022 after the union adopted a resolution criticizing Israel the previous year, calling it discriminatory. A judge dismissed the case. Dozens of Jewish professors resigned from the union due to the resolution.
That 2021 resolution also called to consider union support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel.
A 2016 state executive order bars state agencies from anti-Israel boycotts, meaning that a boycott could come with financial consequences for the CUNY system. But the faculty union does not set policy for the system.
CUNY has long faced allegations of antisemitism on its campuses. The university system, the nation’s largest urban college network with more than 225,000 students, has come under fire in recent years from city and state lawmakers for reported discrimination against Jewish students.
Last year, weeks after Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul ordered a third-party investigation into antisemitism at CUNY.
The system has been a hotspot for anti-Israel protests since then. In March, Hunter College opened an investigation after protesters chanted that Jews at the school needed to “pick a side.” Earlier this month, two CUNY campuses nixed Jewish events due to protests.
CUNY has taken steps to address antisemitism on its campuses, including by setting up an advisory council on Jewish life and partnering with Manhattan’s Museum of Jewish Heritage to educate students about the Holocaust.

2024.06.01 12:03 QuietAffectionate498 Why is it that women who were children of teen mothers are more likely to have children at a young age?

I know a woman - been 21 for almost 3 months - who has a child that is almost 6 months old. This woman is actually from a family that is high income in our area. Her mother has three younger children, and is no longer married. Her mother gave birth to her at the age of 17. In spite of the fact that this young woman is not unintelligent, she chose to have a child earlier than everyone else I’ve grown up around did (though she lives in an area that has a higher crime rate than my city.)
Women who were the child of a teen mom tend to have kids, it seems, earlier than women who weren’t. Why?

2024.06.01 12:02 Normodox A Slush Fund for Radical Protesters?

The profusion of identical green tents at this spring’s anti-Israel protests struck many as odd. “Why is everybody’s tent the same?,” asked New York mayor Eric Adams. Like others, the mayor suspected “a well-concerted organizing effort” driving the protests. More recent reporting shows a concerted push behind the Gaza protest movement. But it is not as simple as a single organization secretly rallying protesters or buying tents. Instead, the movement’s most determined activists represent a network of loosely linked far-left groups. Some are openly affiliated with well-known progressive nonprofits; others work in the shadows.
The movement also draws on diverse but generous sources of financial backing. Those funding streams may soon be augmented by the federal government. As I chronicled last year in a Manhattan Institute report, “The Big Squeeze: How Biden’s Environmental Justice Agenda Hurts the Economy and the Environment,” the administration’s massive program of environmental justice grants seems designed to prioritize the funding of highly ideological local groups. The Inflation Reduction Act, for example, earmarks $3 billion for “environmental and climate justice block grants” intended for local nonprofits. Today, hundreds of far-left political groups include language about environmental issues and “climate justice” in their mission statements. If just a fraction of planned grants flows to such groups, the effect will be a gusher of new funding for radical causes.
As the Gaza protests spread across U.S. college campuses, many observers noted an eerie uniformity among them. From one campus to the next, protesters operated in disciplined cadres, keeping their faces covered and using identical rote phrases as they refused to talk with reporters. The Atlantic noted the strangeness of seeing elite college students “chanting like automatons.” Students held up keffiyeh scarves or umbrellas to block the view of prying cameras and linked arms to halt the movements of outsiders. At Columbia University and elsewhere, protesters formed “liberated zones,” from which “Zionists” were excluded. Around the edges of the encampments, the more militaristic activists donned helmets and goggles and carried crude weapons, apparently eager to mix it up with police or counter-protesters. We’ve seen these tactics before—notably during the “mostly peaceful” Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, when full-time agitators helped ignite riots, set up a police-free (and violence-plagued) zone in Seattle, and laid nightly siege to Portland, Oregon’s federal courthouse.
In a remarkable work of reporting, Park MacDougald recently traced the tangled roots of organizations backing pro-jihad protests, both on and off campuses. These include Antifa and other networks of anonymous anarchists, along with “various communist and Marxist-Leninist groups, including the Maoist Revolutionary Communist Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), and the International ANSWER coalition,” MacDougald writes. Higher up the food chain, we find groups openly supported by America’s growing class of super-rich tech execs or the anti-capitalist heirs of great fortunes. For example, retired tech mogul Neville Roy Singham, who is married to Code Pink founder Jodie Evans, funds The People’s Forum, a lavish Manhattan resource center for far-left groups. As the Columbia protests intensified, the center urged members to head uptown to “support our students.” Following the money trail of other protest groups, MacDougald finds connections to the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Ford Foundation, and—surprising no one—the George Soros-backed Tides Foundation.
Of course, the current wave of anti-Israel protests also involves alliances with pro-Hamas organizations such as Students for Justice in Palestine. Last November, Jonathan Schanzer of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies testified to the House Ways and Means Committee that SJP and similar groups have deep ties to global terrorist organizations, including Hamas.
For many keffiyeh-wearing protestors, however, a recently professed concern for Palestinians is just the latest in a long list of causes they believe justify taking over streets and college quads. In Unherd, Mary Harrington dubs this medley of political beliefs the “omnicause,” writing that “all contemporary radical causes seem somehow to have been absorbed into one.” Today’s leftist activists share an interlocking worldview that sees racism, income inequality, trans intolerance, climate change, alleged police violence, and Israeli-Palestinian conflicts all as products of capitalism and “colonialism.” Therefore, the stated rationale for any individual protest is a stand-in for the real battle: attacking Western society and its institutions.
In the U.S., this type of general-purpose uprising goes back at least to the riots at the 1999 meeting of the World Trade Organization in Seattle. In those protests, mainstream liberal factions—including labor unions and environmentalists—were joined by “black bloc” anarchists and other radicals eager to engage in “direct action” against police. That pattern—relatively moderate demonstrators providing a friendly envelope for hard-core disruptors—formed the template for many later protests: the Occupy Wall Street encampments in 2011, demonstrations following the police shooting of Michael Brown in 2014, 2016’s Standing Rock anti-pipeline movement, and of course, the calamitous summer of 2020.
These uprisings were not entirely spontaneous. In some cases, activists spend months planning mass actions—for example, against economic summits or political conventions—and can recruit street fighters from across the country. In others, an event, such as George Floyd’s death, sparks popular protests involving neophyte demonstrators. Those attract far-left activists, who swoop in to organize and expand the struggle, often tilting it toward more radical action.
That has certainly been the case at the college Gaza-paloozas. At Columbia, the New York Times spotted a woman old enough to be a student’s grandmother in the thick of the action as protesters barricaded that school’s Hamilton Hall. The woman was 63-year-old Lisa Fithian, a lifetime activist, who Portland’s alternative weekly Street Roots approvingly calls “a trainer of mass rebellion.” A counter-protester trying to block the pro-Hamas demonstrators told NBC News, “She was right in the middle of it, instructing them how to better set up the barriers.” Fithian told the Times she’d been invited to train students in protest safety and “general logistics.” She claims to have taken part in almost every major U.S. protest movement going back to the 1999 “Battle in Seattle.”
America’s radical network has plenty of Lisa Fithians, with the time and resources to travel the country educating newcomers about the “logistics” of disruptive protests. And these activists appear to have played key roles in the college occupations. The New York City Police Department says nearly half the demonstrators arrested on the Columbia and City University of New York (CUNY) campuses on April 30 were not affiliated with the schools. One hooded Hamilton Hall occupier—photographed scuffling with a Columbia custodian before getting arrested—turned out to be 40-year-old James Carlson, heir to a large advertising fortune. According to the New York Post, Carlson lives in a $2.3 million Park Slope townhouse and has a long rap sheet. For example, in 2005, he was arrested in San Francisco during the violent “West Coast Anti-Capitalist Mobilization and March Against the G8.” (Those charges were dropped.)
For a quarter-century now, Antifa and other anarchist networks have worked to refine tactics and share lessons following each major action. At Columbia, UCLA, and other schools, authorities found printouts of a “Do-It Yourself Occupation Guide” and similar documents. The young campus radicals are eager to learn from their more experienced elders. And, like the high-achieving students they are, they follow directions carefully. MacDougald asked Kyle Shideler, the director for homeland security and counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy, about the mystery of the identical tents. There was no need for a central group to distribute hundreds of tents, Shideler said. Instead, “the organizers told [students] to buy a tent, and sent around a Google Doc with a link to that specific tent on Amazon. So they all went out and bought the same tent.”
In other words, America’s radical class has gotten very skilled at recruiting and instructing new activists—even from among the ranks of elite college students with a good deal to lose. How much more could this movement accomplish with hundreds of millions in federal dollars flooding activist groups around the country?
From its first week in office, the Biden administration has trumpeted its goal to funnel more environmental spending toward “disadvantaged communities that have been historically marginalized,” partly by issuing grants to grassroots organizations. Previous environmental justice (EJ) grant programs were small in scope. But, with the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in August 2022, a huge pool of grant money became available. EPA administrator Michael Regan told reporters, “We’re going from tens of thousands of dollars to developing and designing a program that will distribute billions.”
More than a year and a half later, it remains hard to nail down just where the Biden administration’s billions in EJ grants will wind up. Money is being distributed through a confusing variety of programs, and the process of identifying recipients is ongoing. To help outsource the job of sifting through proposals, the EPA last year designated 11 institutions as “Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmakers.” These groups are empowered to make subgrants directly to community organizations, under streamlined EPA oversight. In all, the Biden administration has entrusted these outfits with distributing a staggering $600 million in funding. The money is expected to start flowing this summer.
The EPA’s grantmakers include a number of educational institutions and left-leaning nonprofits. For example, the EPA chose Fordham University as its lead grantmaker in the New York region. Fordham, in turn, lists as partners two nonprofits that oppose immigration enforcement. (One, the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, states on its website: “NJAIJ believes in the human right to migrate, regardless of citizenship or political status.”) Neither group claims expertise in environmental issues. Given that the IRA’s eligibility requirements for EJ grants are extremely vague, however, perhaps that’s not a problem. Almost any activity that could help “spur economic opportunity for disadvantaged communities” (in the words of Biden’s EJ executive order) might qualify.
Perhaps the most prominent—and problematic—EPA grantmaker is the Berkeley, California-based Climate Justice Alliance. The CJA is a consortium of mostly far-left activist groups. It describes its mission as working for “regenerative economic solutions and ecological justice—under a framework that challenges capitalism and both white supremacy and hetero-patriarchy.” The group is a vigorous proponent of the omnicause, embracing almost every left-wing concern as a manifestation of climate change. For example, the CJA website proclaims: “The path to climate justice travels through a free Palestine.” MacDougald notes that the Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, one of CJA’s affiliated groups, “organized an illegal anti-Israel protest in the Capitol Rotunda in December at which more than 50 activists were arrested.”
The CJA website also includes a section dedicated to the cause known as Stop Cop City. It refers to an effort to halt the construction of an 85-acre police and firefighter training center outside Atlanta. Rag-tag activists from around the country have gathered around the facility since 2021. They have repeatedly battled with police—sometimes with fireworks and Molotov cocktails—and used bolt cutters to enter the site and torch construction equipment. (CJA’s Stop Cop City page features a cartoon illustration of three childlike activists; one brandishes bolt cutters.) The group also backs a legal defense fund for activists arrested in attacks on the training center or in other protests. For those looking for more inspiration, CJA links to an interview with former Black Panther and self-described revolutionary Angela Davis.
The Alliance is not an ideological outlier in Biden’s EJ coalition. On the contrary, when the White House assembled its White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council (WHEJAC), a panel of outside experts meant to provide “horizon-expanding EJ advice and recommendations,” it chose CJA co-chair Elizabeth Yeampierre to help lead the committee. Like other members of the panel, she sees environmental issues through an ideological, not a scientific, lens. “Climate change is the result of a legacy of extraction, of colonialism, of slavery,” Yeampierre told Yale Environment 360. As a group, radical EJ activists tend not to focus on pragmatic ways to reduce pollution and carbon emissions; for them, the real goal is overturning what they see as an exploitative economic and political system. Since these are the voices the White House chose to help shape its EJ policies, we can assume this worldview will dominate grantmaking decisions.
In February 2023, House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer, along with fellow committee member Pat Fallon, wrote to EPA administrator Regan asking for more information on the EPA’s grant programs. They noted that the EPA’s own studies of EJ grants issued in previous years showed sloppy supervision. According to an EPA report, an earlier version of the program funded projects that did “not logically lead to the desired environmental and/or public health [result].” Without better oversight and more clearly defined goals, the congressmen wrote, the EPA’s EJ grant machine risks becoming simply a “slush fund for far-left organizations.”
Since then, the administration has done little to reassure skeptics. To the contrary, the EPA has put at least one far-left organization—CJA—in charge of distributing $50 million in grant money. No doubt, many of the EPA grants will go to worthwhile projects. But money is fungible. A group that gets a large grant to, say, clean up dirty parks or teach children about recycling will also be able to hire more staff and divert more resources to political action.
With graduation behind them, most of the anti-Israel college protesters have stowed away their keffiyehs and moved on to summer vacations or internships. But the peripatetic activists who helped guide and intensify those uprisings are doubtless already planning their next actions. After all, two political conventions are looming. This fall, the college protests will likely flare up again, though by then perhaps focused on a different facet of the omnicause. And, with hundreds of millions in fresh funding flowing through the activist ecosystem, the groups that quietly nurture extremists—like those who firebombed “Cop City,” or who chant “Intifada Revolution!,” or who block bridges in the name of “climate”—will be more emboldened than ever.

2024.06.01 12:01 Himekat Do you have a JR Pass or IC Card (Suica/Pasmo/etc.) question? Start here! (Monthly Thread - June 01, 2024)

Got a question about JR Passes or IC cards (Suica/Pasmo/ICOCA/etc)? Read through the information below and feel free to ask additional questions in this thread! Please see here%20question%3F%22&restrict_sr=1&sort=new) for old versions of this megathread.

JR Pass Info

The nationwide JR Pass is a travel pass that allows train and bus travel for a fixed cost over a certain period of days on Japan Railways (JR) services. For a comprehensive source of information on the pass, check out our wiki page or Japan Guide’s JR Pass page.
The JR Pass can be purchased in one of two ways: * Online at the official site * Online from an authorized retailer (also often called a "third-party seller")
There is no way to be certain if a JR Pass will be valuable for you without knowing your exact itinerary and doing the math out. If you are trying to work out whether a JR Pass is the right choice for you, here are some calculators: * JRPass.com’s calculator * Japan Guide’s calculator * Daisuki calculator
As of October 1, 2023, the nationwide JR Pass and regional JR Passes have increased in price significantly. The price increase makes it so that there are very few itineraries that the nationwide JR Pass will be worth it for. For more information and discussion on the price increase, see this search result of prior discussion threads.

IC Card Info (Suica, Pasmo, ICOCA, etc.)

General Information

An IC card is a stored-value card used to pay for transportation in Japan. That means you can load the card with money and use the card to pay for trains, buses, etc by tapping the card at train station gates or fare readers. Even if you have a JR Pass or other travel pass, an IC card is recommended because it can be used across transportation systems operated by many different transit companies, as well as for payment at convenience stores, restaurants, shops, vending machines, and other locations.
For tourism purposes, there are nine major IC cards and all of them are completely interchangeable and usable in each other's regions, so it doesn’t really matter which one you get. Where you start your travels in Japan often dictates what IC card you get, since different IC cards originate in different regions, but then you'll be able to use it during most of your traveling, even if you move to a different region. For general information on IC cards, see our wiki or Japan Guide’s IC card page.

Physical IC Cards

Currently, sales of regular Suica, named Suica, regular Pasmo, and named Pasmo cards are technically suspended due to a semiconductor shortage (except children's versions and commuter versions). That said, there have been recent reports in early 2024 of people getting regular Suica cards at some stations in Tokyo.
If you are landing in/starting your trip in Tokyo, tourists can still get:
A Welcome Suica or Pasmo Passport acts exactly like a regular IC card, with two exceptions: it is only valid for 28 days, and it cannot be refunded. Please see this thread and its top comment for information.
If you are starting your trip in another region (e.g., Kansai, Kyushu, etc.), sales of their regional IC cards are unaffected by Suica and Pasmo shortages. Please see this page to identify which card you'll get, and it should be available at airports and train stations in those regions.

Digital IC Cards

If you are looking to get a digital IC card, please note that digital Suica, Pasmo, and ICOCA cards can only be used on iPhones, Apple Watches, or Japanese Android phones (this means the phone was purchased in Japan). For instructions on how to get a digital IC card in Apple Wallet, see here. You do not need the Suica or Pasmo apps (which are all in Japanese) in order to get a digital IC card. It can be loaded and used entirely through Apple Wallet.
Please note that not all credit cards work to load a digital IC card. Amex cards seem to have the highest success rate, but Mastercards and Visas can be flaky. Although Visa previously didn't work at all, as of December 2023, loading a digital Suica with some Visa credits cards seems to work, although not all of them. See this At A Distance blog post for more info and updates. It is not uncommon to not have any of your cards work to load a digital IC card, and if that happens, you might need to stick with a physical IC card.
Keep in mind that digital IC cards cannot be refunded (that requires a Japanese bank account), so you will need to burn down whatever value you’ve loaded onto them before the end of your trip.

IC Card FAQ

I have an old IC card from a previous trip. Can I use it on my upcoming trip?
IC cards are valid for ten years after their last date of use, so if you received the card and/or used the card in/after 2014, it’ll work.
Can more than one person use the same IC card for travel?
No. All travelers who want to use IC cards on transit need to have their own card. Most transit in Japan is distance-based, and the card is “keeping track” of your journey, and it can only keep track of one at a time.
Are there children’s IC cards? How do I get one for my child?
Children under six years old can ride transit for free. If your child is between the ages of six and eleven, you can get a children’s IC card from JR offices by presenting the child’s passport for proof of age. There are also Welcome Suica and Pasmo Passport versions for children. If you are getting IC cards at the airport, they are able to provide children’s cards.
Can I load money onto a physical IC card with a credit card?
No. Physical IC cards can only be loaded with cash, which can be done at ticket machines in train stations, convenience stores, and 7-Eleven ATMs.
I have a physical IC card and I want to transfer it to my phone. If I do that, can I still use the physical card?
No. Once you “move” the physical card to your phone and turn it into a digital card, the physical card becomes invalid. It cannot be used or reactivated.
I’m landing in Tokyo, but then I’m going to Osaka and Kyoto. Do I need a suica in Tokyo and then an ICOCA in Osaka/Kyoto?
No. Once you have one of the major IC cards, it can be used pretty much anywhere. There are some exceptions to this, but they are mostly on individual lines or in specific rural regions. If you are traveling to major tourism cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, etc., you are likely fine with whatever IC card you originally received upon arrival.
Should I buy an IC card online before arriving in Japan?
If you want to get an IC card online from a reputable vendor, there’s nothing wrong with that. Some of the authorized JR Pass website (as well as other websites targeted at tourists) will sell them bundled with other purchases. That said, there isn’t really any reason to get your card ahead of time. If you’re landing in Tokyo, the 28-day Welcome Suica or Pasmo Passport is good enough for most tourists. And if you do end up in the country for longer than 28 days, you can simply get an IC card from another region once you’re in one (such as the ICOCA from Kansai).
Help! I tried to load my digital IC card through Apple Wallet and the transaction didn't go through! What do I do?
To start, did you attempt to create it/load it overnight in Japan? The digital system goes down for maintenance from about 1am to 5am JST, so try again during Japan's daytime hours. Beyond that, Visa cards often cannot be used to load digital IC cards. Mastercards sometimes have issues too, depending on the issuing bank. Unfortunately, if you can't find a digital card + credit card combo that works for you, you may not be able to use digital IC cards.

2024.06.01 11:36 Eastern_Joke_7675 Extreme Ruby 82 Zoey Stark A/S Tier!

PG CHAPTER 7. FW Trish was 'blasting' every female match until Betrayal Part 4 Match 5!
We all know they AI is full on SKYNET. But Trish was handlin' business.Until this match. Triple Threat against Amethyst. Extreme!
Rhea was the Danger. Liv's just a nuisance!
Trish's durability wasn't up to scratch. You can feel the gem class jump here (is this how the AI felt when I bulldozered my way through pg chapter 6 with Shaemus).
Its not just the reversals coming out the wazoo and your reversal window being minuscule! It's the damage they do when they hit you too! And Rhea is a fucking BEAST!
So, I never really tried Zoey out (why would you when you got Trish and Iyo) and this looked like the best one Badge wise! Second highest rated female card in that pack.
A mix of Ruby FW Bailey and FW Trish with badges that boost recovery and health....Trish is a cannon but the damage output is negated by those two Amethyst reversal machines and their fucking one bomb moves that splatter you like a Jackson Pollock!
I was thinking balls the wall FW BAILEY TO NEGATE THEIR OFFENSE...BUT HER MA SPECIFICS WILL BE A 'MARE!
I wanted/needed/yearned for a striker or PH. Saw Zoey, who I packed earlier in the chapter!
Tried her out and goddamn is she a hidden gem!
Trish is still the top but Zoey's got some stuff going on! And it's very PG specific! Very much for this kind of situation!
STRIKER (EASY MA MFP) with Rage payback! Get Finisher fast!
Very well balanced and very nice moveset! Signature is a knee to head (MASVIDAL)! Finisher, a pin combo! Both feel strong! She feels fast and agile but tough and durable! She also packs a punch!
Badges: Blue Stings (offensive), Blue QR (get back in the fight!), Silver Wet Blanket (negate their finisher) and silver endurance (defensive- heals). Its a nice balanced card! I'm still offensive, but I got ways of stifling their power!
Fast taunts too!
Attributes:
This card massively benefits from the buffs then Amethyst locker code bird manager gives!
Her balanced stat a across offense beef up to the 70s and are enhanced by Stings! Her Finisher and special are in the 89s anyway
Defensively: 81 pin escape, 81 stamina, 90 movement, good agility, good durability. Reversals are great SR AND GR 81 (AMETHYST CARD MAKES EM 90!) AR 70! Its Zen man! Is so balanced!
It's just a great allrounder! It total stopped Rhea for Juggernauting me! And I now have reversals out the wazoo! With those attributes and the boost! Now they had lost their weapons...So.....ANYWAYS I JUST STARTED BLASTING!

2024.06.01 11:31 Acrobatic-Usual6789 Should I take an effective pay cut to move to NYC?

I (26M) currently work in consulting in a major Asian city (think Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore) at a fairly well-known international firm. My current base compensation is $100K USD per year with 2-4 months YE bonus. I am not American and have not worked in the US before.
My company has recently offered me an opportunity to relocate to New York City. After much deliberation they were unwilling to give an immediate increase in base comp (I joined on a rather specific talent programme that means my comp is higher than usual for my position rating). This means the top-line comp is matched to what I'm on now.
Pros of moving:
Cons of moving:
At the moment my struggle is in justifying what seems to be material financial costs in the short term to realise a personal dream and potentially much better professional prospects in the medium-to-longer term. Does moving make sense? I appreciate any insights and advice.

2024.06.01 11:28 Fragrant-Top3113 Is kokou no hito really that good?

I am reading the manga and currently i am at the start of K2 East face arc. I am really enjoying the heck out of it, but i think some stuffs ruined it for me, one of them is definitely how ununderstandable it is, like we saw Niimi Taku's girlfriend moving to live with mori, but then we got nothing about it, and also the girl that had a set date with mori, that his boss at his previous job set for him, but then she moved in with him then we saw nothing about them. we also got nothing about Hana and Mori's relationship, we just saw how they met and their wedding and a lot more. but by far the thing i don't like the most is how after the death of the 14 mountaineering club members death at the northern alps all-mountain ridge traversal, we just skipped 4 years, i mean all the character development was in those 4 years and all we got was how he met takemura and how he got his job at college snow research team. we didn't really see how he went from extremely introverted and lonely person to that average guy, having a loving wife and charming little girl and even drinking with friends, he even lost passion for mountain climbing yet we saw nothing. if any of these will get better by the end of the story just don't spoil I only have 3 volumes to go, and i will give my rating by the coming few days

2024.06.01 11:27 ExperiencePersonal99 🇵🇭 Finally, I resigned. Thank you all! What's your best life advice?

🇵🇭 Finally, I resigned. Thank you all! What's your best life advice?
Hi, wonderful individuals! 🤍
I'm from the Philippines 🇵🇭 ✅ Born in the Covenant ✅ Primary: Faith in God Award ✅ Young Women: Personal Progress (4x) ✅ Ward Missionary ✅ Seminary 5 years (Old & New Testament, D&C, Pearl of Great Price, Book of Mormon 2x). ✅ Sunday school teacher ✅ Young Women Secretary (5 years) ✅ Relief Society Activity Coordinator ✅ Family History Service Missionary ✅ Institute (4 years) ✅ Temple ordinances (baptism for the dead, endowment, proxy sealing: husband & wife, parents, family) ❌ Applied for Full-time Mission last 2018. My Bishop asked me to have a "down payment" for my mission fund so that it can be processed right away. I paid $646 (₱37,800). But after a few months, my Stake President received a letter from Salt Lake and told me that I'm not going on a mission... without any explanations why I'm not allowed to serve given that I've done everything since Primary. It broke my heart... and my wallet 🤣 because of course there's no chance of getting a "refund". Yet, I still continued to be "worthy."
For so many years, I've always devoted my life to my family and the Mormon church. I've always had 2 or more callings every year. My family, relatives, friends, classmates, and teachers were all looking up to me as a "good example". My highschool classmates even encouraged me to discuss the "Plan of Salvation" in our classroom's white board. Guess what happened? 🤣 They were all shocked and amazed at how complex it was. They always asked me to pray during school events and competitions. I'm the only "Mormon" in our batch, and still they respected my beliefs.
Last 2022, I declined 2 Stake callings just because I have existing callings already and I'm so occupied with my college thesis. I also resigned to my 2 Ward callings. Then, after my college graduation, I felt lost. I'm burned out. I'm asking myself, "now what?"
Since I was a young woman, I've always observed and said to myself and my family that the Mormon church is an "ORGANIZED RELIGION". I've observed that it has many RULES. It has PATTERNS. It has a "COVENANT PATH" (seminary, institute, endowment, mission, BYU, temple marriage, children, etc). Like, "why is everybody doing things so similar?" 🤔 "How about me? I still don't want to date and get married, I don't even want to have kids. I want to further my studies, have a career, and explore life." I also said to myself, "I DON'T want to be racist and homophobic". 😭 My moral values conflict with the church's doctrines in so many ways.
Then, I decided I want to be an USRN in Utah because there's the Salt Lake City, there's a lot of "Mormons" there, I felt I will be "in" because of the same beliefs, same culture, and same religion. That's when I started to “DEEP DIVE” about sa “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”. I used my COMMON SENSE and CRITICAL THINKING as I did my PERSONAL RESEARCH about the church, its history and teachings. I meditate, pray, write my questions before I sleep, as I sleep my subconscious mind gets to work, approaching the questions from a variety of angles and making connections that may hold the answers. My other questions, observations, and past experiences begin to resurface. When I wake up in the morning, I pray, meditate and do my personal study to find the answers to my questions. I studied from the church resources, gospel library, scriptures, lessons, articles, research findings, news, YouTube, reddit, etc. I analyzed, compared, and connected my findings. I removed my BIASES. After going down a DEEP RABBIT HOLE, finally, I discovered the REAL TRUTH about “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”
"Listen to your BODY and the signals it is giving. One of the most overlooked signals of intuition is CONFUSION."
🤯 It took me just one week to do my personal research to find answers for my questions that I've put on my "shelf" (subconscious mind) for so many years. I organized my findings then I made a summarized script and a presentation using a big sketch pad to present it with my family. I asked my parents first for their permission for our family discussion. These were the main topics that I shared with them: • FREE AGENCY • JOSEPH SMITH • CHURCH NAMES • BOOK OF MORMON • TEMPLE • MISSIONARY WORK • LDS LAW FIRM • HIDDEN AGENDA = LD$ business corporation (Money: Tithes, Fast Offering, etc) - City Creek Mall ("Let's Go Shopping!"🤣) - Beneficial Life - Ensign Peak Advisors - Shell companies - Reserve fund: HUNDRED BILLION of dollars $ • CULT "BITE" Model
Gladly, my dear family respected my decision to leave the Mormon church. I sent my resignation letter last May 20, 2024, 5 years after my Temple Endowment (when I said to myself, "Oh shit! Cult!!!). I decided to leave “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” NOT because I wanted to sin and NOT because I'm a lazy learner. I chose to leave “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” because it is NOT true. It is NOT a church, it is a CORPORATION. Joseph Smith and all the so-called “prophets” and “apostles” were not chosen by God. They DO NOT receive any direct revelations from God. They are NOT special chosen people. I chose to leave because they LIED a lot for so many years. They whitewashed church history. They took advantage of many people for POWER, MONEY, and SEX. These people teach damaging doctrines that lead to many people dying.
As a PERSON with PURE INTENTIONS, I CANNOT support any organization who lies, controls, manipulates, discriminates, abuses, and kills so many people. I choose HONESTY. I choose INTEGRITY. I choose LOVE. 🤍
"You don't have to be the victim of your environment. You can also be the ARCHITECT of it. Habits can be easier to change in a NEW ENVIRONMENT."
"Old habits are hard to break and new habits are hard to form because the behavioral patterns that humans repeat become IMPRINTED in brain neural pathways, but it is POSSIBLE to FORM NEW HABITS through REPETITION."
🌸 PLEASE SHARE YOUR BEST LIFE ADVICE 🤗
I don't know where I'd be without you, all. Thank you for your help, my new awesome community. 🤍

Hello everyone,
There is a slight chance that I could relocate here for life and work. I am just waiting for the offer from Volvo cars, since we agreed about the rest.
I’d like to know some of the important things for me in order to make easier decision and that’s where you step in.
First of all, I’d like to know are people willing to talk in english until I learn some swedish 😅
I’d like to know what are the tax rates/grades? Since I was negotiating some gross salary in SEK, I’d like to know are there any tax grades like in Germany for example where if you are single working guy you are in the highest grade. So that I could know what net salary to expect.
Is it possible that you help me with advices about areas where to live? Some area where there is good public transportation connection with city center and the company. And to share experiences about prices of rent would be desirable ofc
Are bills for electricity, Internet, water consumption etc usually included in rent or how does it work? If they are not, what is approximate price that needs to be paid for this?
Also, I’d like to know what are aproximate expenses regarding food and everything necessary for living a normal life?(without going outs, restaurants etc)
Probably I will have some more questions if the topic opens, but this is the most important for me now.
Thank you all in advance.

2024.06.01 11:03 BurningFerrisWheel Smacked a Cab driver who almost killed us.

I and my friend went to Mumbai on a Saturday to visit another friend in Mumbai. We took a cab early in the morning, reached Mumbai by afternoon, visited some places, then a Techno Club, Got drunk and came back to his place at 3 AM. I wanted to come back to Pune the same day so that I can utilise my Sunday.
Now here it gets interesting: We were somewhat drunk, Haven't slept for last 24 hours and thought we can sleep in the cab while coming to Pune. We booked a Cab at 4 Am from Mumbai to Pune.
The cab driver came, my friend sat on the back seat and went straight to sleep, and I sat at the front passenger seat, adjusted the seat and closed my eyes and the driver took off.
Within the next 15 mins while, our cab was still on the Mumbai highways, I could feel something was wrong: the driver was sitting very upright, was looking down while shifting gear, using both of his hands to maneuver the steering wheel of the cab.
Remember, I was drunk and sleepy af, so I didn't pay attention much, but my spidy-senses were active and I knew something was off.
My first big hint came in when the driver was trying to overtake a Truck on the Highway from the wrong side, but he failed to overtake it and the roads were merging into a flyover. So his failed overtaking led him to take the cab off the highway to avoid hitting the truck and the flyover walls in the last moment and he put the cab on the service road.
I woke up, with eyes wide open not able to contemplate what just happened: I asked him "Bhai Gaadi niche kyon utaari?" (Why did you get off the highway?) And he replied "I got confused with the route". So he took a big 4 Km round turn to again get on the highway.
Then I couldn't sleep (but was still high and sleep deprived), I noticed he didn't know how to DRIVE.
He put the cab in full acceleration in 3rd gear while overtaking big trucs, he went in the wrong lane often to overtake but couldn't so he came back to the right lane and tried again and again. The way he was going on turns was very dangerous, with sudden acceleration and braking.
At this point I told my friend to wake up, he was sleeping in the back seat like a baby; and I was praying for my life anytime I watched the driver coming closer to a truck.
I tried waking up my friend and telling him to cancel the ride but he didn't wake up and even when he did he was like "Don't worry, this guy has 4.8 star rating" and you should sleep too.
By this point we were entering the Ghat highway, and I knew now it's hard to book a new cab here, so I decided to keep awake and try to avoid death.
Things got worse on the Ghats. This dude couldn't drive on the straight roads of the city, on the Ghat he was a death machine. Luckily it was about 5:00 AM and there was little traffic there.
But there is this area in Ghat, where the Incline is very steep which the trucks cannot climb at regular speed and there is always a jam.
So when we reached that part, this guy stopped his cab close to a big truck stuck in Jam, and there were trucks all around us.
This is where we almost died: The road was a steep incline: and the trucks needed space to back up and move ahead everytime they stopped in traffic and accelerated:
Our Driver used his "Leg Brake" to stop the car on the incline and when we had to move ahead he let the Brake go and tried to accelerate: which is a bad idea on an incline road, and our cab started drifting backwards where trucks were accelerating towards us in a Jam Packed Traffic. As our car started going backwards and the truck behind us accelerated towards us, I went into panic. The truck driver started hoking like crazy and other trucks who could see what is happening also started hoking.
Our Driver's reaction was to "Steer the car" towards another truck's wheels and pressed acceleration in panic. I could see that he was about to cry.
At this point I lost it, I smacked him on his Head, pulled on the Hand brake, stopped the Car, then again smacked his head and told him to hold the clutch and accelerator. He did, then I slowly let down the hand brake and we moved forward. He admitted that "It is my first time driving on a highway" and I was like "MF it seems like your first time holding the steering".
For the next 3 hours I kept my self awake somehow and told him when to accelerate, when to brake, when to change gear and when to overtake.
I could have taken over the driving If I wasn't drunk or high but I was passing out regularly as I hadn't slept in 24 hours.
Atleast whenever you guys book a cab to travel long distances please check how many "Trips" the driver has done before confirming the booking.
Stay Safe.

2024.06.01 11:02 Tern_Larvidae-2424 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup [Preview #16] - Sri Lanka

After making 4 consecutive semi-finals from 2009 to 2014 (2 times runners-up, 1 time champion), their glory run ended with a bang in 2016 and they haven't done much of note in the next two editions either. Sri Lankan cricket for the better part of the last decade has shown glimpses of their past glory surrounded by a fog of repeated disappointments. This year might be their toughest challenge yet as there's a risk of them not being in the top 8 of a T20I World Cup for the first time ever, but this side has also shown flashes of brilliant performances. The issue though is that those good performances have been just those; mere flashes in the pan.
Overall T20I WC Performance: 43 Matches, 28 Wins, 15 Losses
T20I performance since the last tournament: 16 Matches, 7 Wins, 8 Losses, 1 Tie
Squad
They announced their squad on May 9th. Following table shows the players' recent form (their stats in their last 20 T20Is):
Player Runs Average Strike Rate Wickets Average Economy
P Nissanka 438 24.33 116.80 - - -
K Mendis 615 32.36 146.08 - - -
S Samarawickrama* 310 20.66 110.32 - - -
C Asalanka 460 27.05 134.11 0 - 8.00
D de Silva 380 21.11 127.09 10 14.50 6.69
A Mathews 361 27.76 121.54 9 36.77 8.56
D Shanaka 281 23.41 147.12 10 18.60 9.37
W Hasaranga 198 15.23 152.30 32 17.03 7.07
K Mendis* 209 26.12 135.71 0 - 8.75
M Theekshana 5 1.00 20.83 19 29.15 7.08
D Wellalage* - - - - - -
D Chameera 62 8.85 106.89 21 31.28 8.76
D Madushanka* 2 0.66 33.33 14 30.92 9.41
N Thushara* 8 8.00 88.88 11 19.72 8.97
M Pathirana* 10 10.00 62.50 11 17.09 9.55
* - S Samawickrama has played only 18 T20Is
* - Kamindu Mendis has played only 10 T20Is
* - D Wellalage is yet to make his T20I debut
* - D Madushanka has played only 14 T20Is
* - N Thushara has played only 8 T20Is
* - M Pathirana has played only 6 T20Is
Their bowling is really inexperienced although most of their XI players will be experienced (Chameera, Theekshana & Hasaranga). Theekshana hasn't been swimming in wickets and Chameera has not done better and he's also more economical. Their bowling will rely on Hasaranga who has been incredible in the 2 T20I WCs he has played so far. DDS has also done really good in his recent games.
Mendis is still not as consistent as he'll want to be but he's getting there. Asalanka has been pretty good and Nissanka provides stability at the top. Samarawickrama stats don't look good but he could come good in this T20I World Cup.
Previous T20I WC Performances
Player [Matches] Runs Average Strike Rate Wickets Average Economy
P Nissanka [15] 435 29.00 113.28 - - -
K Mendis [8] 223 31.85 142.94 - - -
C Asalanka [13] 362 36.20 134.07 0 - 11.00

A Mathews [29] 459 38.25 129.66 19 25.31 6.47
D Shanaka [18] 209 20.90 114.20 3 41.66 8.82
W Hasaranga [16] 144 14.40 126.31 31 11.45 5.81
M Theekshana [15] 20 10.00 105.26 17 19.94 6.14
D Chameera [13] 17 5.66 68.00 11 32.45 7.62
The players who have prior T20I WC experience have played quite a long games but there are 6 players who have played 0 T20I WC games (1 hasn't played even one T20I).
Mendis, Asalanka & Mathews has pretty good overall T20I stats while Shanaka can definitely use some improvement. On the bowling front Hasaranga has been absolutely phenomenal (he'll also want to up his batting numbers as well). Theekshana has done well too. Mathews has done well with the ball but he's not exactly going to be relied on with the ball a lot this time around.
Strengths
Although filled with new blood who can falter at the big stage (it'll be their first big tournament after all), when mixed with the old dogs (mostly spinners) the Sri Lankan bowling line-up is quite formidable.
They are filled with all-rounders too and that's a superb thing to have in T20Is. They can bat quite deep and have multiple bowlers to cover up for a bowler who's having a bad day.
Weaknesses
Their batting up top can be quite slow or even collapse prone at time. Shanaka has not been in good form for quite some time now and although he can go big at times that doesn't come as often as Sri Lanka would like.
Having a lot of all-rounders is cool but a lack of specialist batters can turn out to be a weakness as well. In the past T20I WCs they've fallen apart after making a good start early on and they need to stop doing that this time if they're to do well.
World Cup Chances
First of all, the big question: Can they win it? Nah. It'll be miraculous if they actually do win this entire thing. But I don't think anybody is expecting that. A good showing in the Super 8 and at most a semi-final berth (which will be a first for them in an ICC tournament after over a decade) will make it a more than impressive performance.
They are in the toughest group stage group of this T20I World Cup with the other 4 teams being South Africa, Bangladesh, Netherlands & Nepal. They certainly possess the ability to go 4-0 here, but they can also lose against South Africa & Bangladesh and lose out in the race to Super 8. Their first two games are against South Africa & Bangladesh, the two big sides. If they go 2-0 there their qualification will be all but assured. If they go 1-1 then it's still more than likely that they'll go through to the Super 8s but if they go 0-2 it'll almost certainly be curtains.
If they do go to Super 8 they'll be in Group 1 with India, Australia & New Zealand (in all likelihood). They'll be the underdogs in all 3 of those games but in both of the last two T20I WCs they started pretty well against Australia before their bowling being torn apart. Against New Zealand in 2022 they induced a top order collapse but couldn't keep the pressure up for long enough and lost by a big margin with a batting collapse on their own. Their last T20I WC game against India was the 2014 T20I WC Final, but that was so long ago that it doesn't represent these two teams' relative strengths and weaknesses at all. It'll be a great showing if they can win 1 game there, it'll be an incredible showing if they win 2 and go to the semi-finals.
Final Thoughts
Despite their poor performances in recent times, they still have the 4th highest win percentage in T20I WCs (with one of the 3 teams above them being Nepal). It shows how dominant they really were in their earlier campaigns, having a win percentage of 70.97% at the end of their successful 2014 campaign. But still in 2021 they smashed the smaller sides before beating West Indies & Bangladesh and running England close and in 2022 they came back quite well after losing to Namibia and beat Ireland & Afghanistan in the Super 12. Just like with most members of the Group D, Sri Lanka could end up having a incredible tournament be it incredibly good or incredibly poor. They'll have to be at their best in their first two games and they were shaky at the start of the last T20I World Cup (and in the 2022 Asia Cup, which they ended up winning). Them winning the 2022 Asia Cup feels so long ago now, but it still shows that this Sri Lankan side is perfectly capable of doing well and they'll be hungry to not end up with another disappointment of an ICC tournament.

2024.06.01 11:01 Brief_Confusion_9872 Her: ‘i need space’

The girl i have been dating for 3 weeks asked me that she needs space for now just exactly after 3rd week, we met on instagram, live in the same society but went to college in different cities, she is one year older than me, we instantly clicked, she shared all of her traumas and even very deep and private stuff about her, we have so many Similiarities like literally so much, she always used to say i never thought I’ll get involved with someone younger than me after a week we both mutually admitted we have feelings for each other and are heading towards something serious but she told she is not ready for a relationship because she just went through a breakup just 2-3 days before she started talking to me, when we both arrived our home on the exact same date, so many coincidences, we met for 4 days straight and made out on all 4 of them, went on drives, walks.
Now the next day after the 4th date she said she’s not well and i said you’re leaving town the next day for 4 days so meet me, we went on a small walk i kissed her on her cheeks then after then she sounded low on texts and then next day it was fine but suddenly she said she needs to talk about something, then told me its getting too much for her both emotionally and sexually and she needs some space for now, i agreed to give her space after talking about what’s wrong but she didn’t say anything. Now its been two days i wanna talk to her and clear things out I don’t know what’s wrong. Also on the 4th date she took me with her to return some stuff back to her ex, upon reaching the venue i told her I’ll give u guys privacy you go I’m here outside, she went inside and came back in two minutes with some stuff given by his ex upon too many insisting she then came to me told me he is following her to see who she is with, then we started walking towards the cafe again, i saw his ex, he was smaller in height than me then she said she wants to drink ice tea i said okay lets go I didn’t know she wanted to go to the same cafe where is ex is sitting she then suddenly went inside and i also had to go inside, i saw him sitting now cause he rushed back when he saw us, i told her it was bad idea.
After all this i msged her what wrong did i do anything wrong now she blames me that I didn’t stop when she told me to while we were making h out and she is traumatised ized now and is diagnosed of ptsd, I apologised to her too many times (though i know she’s cooking and blaming me cause it was mutual she says i went too far while doing somethings but at the time of the act she was loving it and when she said stop someone will see us i did stopped) we had cute moments together while shopping and all and she made promises to stay with me forever she said she likes me too much and don’t want to loose me and all of that stuff earlier.
I called her the next day and said I’m not feeling fine, she then said after some time that she has made her decision and doesn’t want to continue anymore, i did apologise again and told her to meet atleast once cause i don’t want us to end on bad terms i atleast want this to end as a good memory, but she said no and that she’s busy. We used to talk whole day long on texts from morning to late night, call all day, videocall all day we at some point were videocalling 10 hours straight.
Now i don’t know what was all of it, was i a rebound or a fling?
