2024.06.01 13:07 zzzojka I feel worse when I eat meals, I feel better when I chew on things throughout the day
Does anyone else feel that? Preparing the simplest meals and cleaning up is too much of a job, it can waste a 100% of my energy for a day making and eating one meal. It's like digesting this ball of food is not what my body was designed for, I get really tired, nauseaus, may get a migraine now or tomorrow.
I had a bad PTSD episode for the last month and I had so little to hold myself together I had to eliminate all sensory suffering possible. So I only drank tea with milk and ate room temperature snacks in small pieces but often, expecting to feel like shit afterwards because it's bad for health. I ate sunflower seeds, muffin cut into small cubes and so on. I had significantly less migraines that month, didn't feel so much pain in body, wasn't bloated. Once a week I could go outside and eat a meal at a fast food or cook something very simple and healthy to sustain my body within the standard practice of eating.
I remember reading something about a blood circulation condition that many autistic people have that can affect digestion as well and blood flowing to stomach or something and it being not evenly distributed in body, I didn't read carefully into this. I wonder how many others here feel like eating is way more complicated than just chores/texture, but to a point where you need to have a completely different concept of eating because it makes your physical health worse if you eat "as you should".

2024.06.01 02:31 TappTapp Experiences and Advice from Cubing with Custom Cards
Over the past year, a friend and I have designed a cube with 300 custom cards. Custom cards are an extreme extension of cube design and there's a lot more potential for things to go wrong. Here's what I've learned.
Play with your Designs as Soon as Possible
Design four cards. Print them, put them into two old draft decks, and play a game. If they're not in the right colours, treat them as colourless. If you don't have someone to help, play against yourself.
This is the most important and urgent task. There are things you learn in 20 seconds of gameplay that you couldn't learn from hours of thinking. A custom card doesn't exist until it's been cast.
Custom Cards are Too Powerful
Cards you design are stronger than you expect, even when you think you're being careful. There are two causes:
- People underestimate new cards. Nobody expected Oko or The One Ring to be powerful because we hadn't seen powerful cards with those types of effects before. Smuggler's Copter, Umezawa's Jitte, and White Plume Adventurer were similar mistakes.
- You like the cards you design. You want them to get attention, and players like powerful cards. Emrakul, the Promised End was too strong in standard because she was too important to be weak.
There's a longer discussion about the role of power and when imbalance is good. Just be aware that your custom cards
will be more powerful than you think.
Custom Cards are Too Weird
By far the most common pitfall. People design weird cards because if they wanted normal cards they would just use the official ones. However, wotc manages to design cards every year that are both normal and exciting. Many problems come from weird cards:
- They're hard to understand. Often they have lots of text, behave differently than you expect, or have their strength buried under distractions. Remember that people who have never seen these cards before need to quickly read them, understand them, and compare them to 14 other cards. Necropotence is popular now but suffered on release from this. People don't give custom cards the same chance.
- They don't do anything. These tend to be situational gotchas or overly linear buildarounds, which makes deckbuilding less interesting. Lions Eye Diamond and Dark Depths are cool, but they have provenance and history that your custom cards don't have. Lions Eye Diamond was also hated for years.
- They disrupt the structure of the game. A powerful weird card draws too much attention to itself or a small aspect of the game, making other things irrelevant. Not every card is the star of the story. Many early prison cards like Moat, Armageddon, or Winter Orb do this. When people dislike monarch or initiative, it's usually because they warp the game around themselves.
- They have too many ideas. When someone makes their first custom card, they have years worth of ideas waiting to be shared. Trust me, you will run out of ideas before you run out of places to put them. A card only needs a single idea and sometimes I design multiple cards based on a single idea. Split it into two cards, or write the idea down and come back to it later. If it's a good idea, you'll find a place for it later.
You might think normal/simple cards don't let you express yourself, but there's still important decisions to make. For
Cyber Dragon, I had to decide how much it would cost when discounted. By making it 3 mana, it gives you the choice of whether to play a 2-drop before and makes you think about if that 2-drop will die by next turn. A 4/3 flier is an inefficient distribution of rate, and a 2 mana discount is meaningful without being necessary.
You can create fun and novel experiences with simple textboxes, flavour, and the right numbers.
Summon Boulder,
Ancestral Migraine,
Espresso Kami,
The Knight,
Rakdos Charm 3, and
Parhelion III are all simple designs I'm proud of.
Believe in your Cards
My advice is mostly negative so I want to underscore that you
can make fun cards. Whenever you playtest you discover some cards are not as fun as you thought, but you also discover seemingly boring cards that are a lot of fun. I thought
Monastery Swift Mentor Spear wouldn't be fun, but after playing with it I love it. When you playtest early and often you can afford to take risks and find really new designs.
Believing in your cards means putting your best work in the spotlight. Your most powerful cards should be cards that people will love. What's important is to earn your audience's trust. People are less forgiving with custom cards, so all it takes is one Moat or Daze to turn them off. That trust is like the willing suspension of disbelief and lets people overlook frustrating experiences. Jadelight Ranger and Huntmaster of the Fells were everywhere in standard, but still beloved because they were so fun to play with.
It's also okay to have cards you have less faith in. Usually it's something that's fun to read or play occasionally, but annoying when it's a pillar of the format. Make them weak or narrow and let people enjoy the idea. Mill can be annoying to lose to, which is why wotc keeps it as a fringe or unplayable strategy for the die-hard mill fans.
Put it on the Back Burner
A Valve developer said that to make a good game, you have to make two games and throw one of them away. Designing cards is hard, and it feels bad to discard something you worked on. But you need to accept that sometimes you reach a dead end. If a card doesn't spark joy when you play with it, set it aside and come back to it later. I have about 50 cards I've designed, many with illustrations and names, that I've cut so that people can focus on the cards I really believe in.
Red Flags
Effects I try to minimise. They show up often in initial designs, so it's important to only do when necessary.
"Draw a Card" "Draw a card" is secretly the opposite of believing in your cards. It usually means that your card needs to do
something, but you're not sure what. You're basically making it a copy of another random card in their deck. Part of strategy in magic is how different effects are better at different times. Sometimes you have to find a use for a 3/3 when they have a 4/4, or use a removal spell in the right way at the right time. Card draw is just always good, not concerned with timing or decisions, and fits into any strategy.
It also gets problematic in large doses. A deck of all card draw never actually does anything. It lets players get ahead without interacting. It causes mana flood. Full hands in the late game present too many options. The wincon-less Teferi, Hero of Dominaria decks were emblematic of this. The deck was only interested in drawing cards, making mana, and staying alive. It would be less frustrating if it played Baneslayer Angel or The Wandering Emperor.
The paradox is that players love card draw
because there's no risk of it being bad. You don't need players to like your card if it replaces itself with another. But remember that you're designing a puzzle and you can't just give players all the answers. You have to make them work for it.
1 Power Creatures It's important for games to reach a conclusion. 1 power creatures tend towards long drawn out games where creature combat and damage doesn't matter. Drafters of Dominaria (2018) had games where both players walled up behind 1/3s and just passed turn until they found a bomb to win with.
1-2 mana creatures are hard to design because you don't want a lot of 1 power creatures, but giving them more power can end the game too quickly. I like to make them small to start with, but get bigger later on or under certain conditions.
Relatedly, you need to make some 4 power creatures. This helps games end, adds excitement, and provides variety in creature sizes. It's hard because you don't have room for a lot of expensive creatures. And if your 5 mana creatures have good abilities (eg. Mulldrifter) then you have to make them small, which takes up space for big creatures. Again, you can pick up some of the slack with creatures that change size.
Repeatable Effects Doing something every turn is a red flag. It encourages players to stall to get more activations. Fortunately magic has many fixes.
- Limited number of uses (Sagas, Mazemind Tome, flashback)
- Doesn't accumulate between turns (Birds of Paradise, Rootwalla)
- Diminishing returns over multiple uses (Chronomaton, Prodigal Pyromancer)
- Consumes a finite resource (Phyrexian Arena, Stoneforge Mystic, escape)
- Ends the game (Planeswalkers with ultimates, Sheoldred)
- Easy to disrupt (Planeswalkers, attack triggers)
- Switches to doing something else (Bloodline Keeper, saga creatures, Treasure Map)
Mana Denial This sounds unnecessary, but you'll underestimate how often you get an opportunity to mana screw your opponent. Just do what wotc does and write nonland on everything.
Similarity When two cards are very similar, it invites comparison between them. Whichever one is weaker will be hated by players, even if it's only a little weaker. If it's similar to an existing card that's powerful, it will either be overpowered or hated. People used to complain that Serum Visions was too weak for modern, despite it seeing frequent play in tier 1 decks, because it's similar to Preordain. You can get away with weaker versions of cards if the original is very obviously too powerful for the cube.
Concepts about Power
Inefficient Distribution of Rate Credit to Patrick Sullivan for this concept. Every card has multiple aspects, and it's important to understand when those aspects are pointing towards the same strategy. For example, Fireblast lets you sacrifice two lands to deal 4 damage. The drawback (sacrificing two lands) is minor if the game ends shortly afterwards, and dealing 4 damage is likely doing that. That is an efficient distribution. But say Fireblast had a different effect worth about 4 mana: destroy all creatures. Despite having a theoretically stronger effect, in practice this is a weaker card because it wants a short game but the effect is prolonging the game. That is an inefficient distribution.
Generally speaking, inefficient distributions are more fun. They allow you to make cards that are exciting because they look overpowered, without actually being overpowered. They also reward deckbuilders who can find a way to marry the conflicting strategies into a single deck. Llanowar Elves is an inefficient distribution, since giving opponents a target for Shock is a big drawback in ramp decks. If Llanowar Elves was an enchantment, ramp decks could play no small creatures, making it hard for opponents to use their cheap removal. Llanowar Elves provides more ways to interact with ramp decks, and rewards players for finding ways to use the 'inefficiency' with Birthing Pod or Craterhoof Behemoth. Monastery Swiftspear and Arclight Phoenix are 'storm' payoffs that lean in a totally different direction to typical storm decks, creating new archetypes that play with creatures and don't kill in one turn.
Power vs Impact High impact cards include big creatures, sweepers, planeswalkers, or cards with repeatable effects. They give games excitement and momentum, but they also get more scrutiny. It's easy to be upset about losing to Grave Titan when what really beat you was turn 1 Birds of Paradise. For that reason I'm more willing to take risks on low impact cards and keep high impact cards at a lower power level. But you also need people to play high impact cards to get games over with. Brainstorm and Polluted Delta are powerful cards with low impact, whereas Grave Titan and Teferi, Hero of Dominaria are comparatively weak but feel strong because they're high impact. High impact cards can get people excited about weak cards because they still sometimes win games.
Playtesting Advice
- Powerful cards get data faster. If something is really weird, test it at a high power and tone it down once you know how it plays.
- Removal can obfuscate testing. Removal is an important part of magic, but part of why it's good is the way it 'smooths over' problems with an environment. If you test with little removal, it's more obvious when a card is causing problems. Remember that your players won't always have removal when they need it.
- Look for the root of a problem. Often an unfun card has a specific flaw that can be addressed. Sometimes you need to reduce a card's impact, reduce the frequency of an effect, or simply increase the mana cost. It is surprising how many things are more fun when you have to spend more mana to do them.
Card design is something you could study for a lifetime. While I've learned a lot of things about specific aspects of it, these are my most universal tips.

2024.06.01 01:49 LordGodWallace My Hardcore Veteran Experience
After a couple successful Apoc campaigns and a fair bit of building on my main save I decided I'd finally bite the bullet and make attempts at Veteran Hardcore for the Savior gun which now has a Corrupted variant that's seen a lot of buzz and for the first time since launch this reward interested me.
Luckily I had a few advantages compared to a truly fresh save as one would expect, for starters I would be able to start Engineer since its a nice, durable class with good starting gear and the turret can be really nice both wielding it and setting it. My playstyle ended up leaning more towards setting and forgetting despite the obscene damage the held turret can generate. I'm just not as used to or comfortable with the hops for dodging with it yet, it's not a class I play a lot.
My immediate routine in Ward 13 each run would be to buy Worlds Edge, get the smg, and get Challenger asap for a bulky offense type of build with a death failsafe in ChallengeEngineer, selling what I needed to accomplish this early in world one. If Cass had nice rings I'd pick those up too next. Upgrading my weapons took a backseat early on in favor of procuring other resources, plus I didn't want to risk ramping up world level progress and I could always fall back on the turret that scaled regardless which was an advantage to picking Engineer to start. I could've stuck it out with the rupture cannon Engineer comes with as well as it's a nice handgun but tbh I just wanted to play with the smg as I discovered it insanely late on my main and it's a real nice all rounder gun.
Worlds Edge access wasn't as much of a game changer as I anticipated. An unitemized build just doesn't have the stamina management to really make it a beast, not to mention the lack of Steadfast. There were plenty of situations where it cleared lines of mobs real nice but I could've managed without it. The bulk of my damage came from the Pulse Rifle and SMG packing ammo mods.
I had a reasoning in mind for how I'd start the campaign in terms of eliminating threats for the first world. I decided I wanted to reroll until I started in Nerud with Tal Ratha as the world boss. Shahala spirit form had recently scarred me in an apoc campaign and I was not at all confident in my ability to no death him nor was it ideal to search for the item needed to trigger the (imo) easier physical Shahala fight. On the other hand the alternate spirit Tal Ratha fight is a massive pushover for me personally and it's free to trigger, so I got to it and this first world went pretty smoothly save for a couple minor scares with the shielded elite drones. I sensibly walked away from what I knew was an aberration encounter with one of these in a side dungeon.
First world was done and now we get to the first of my two run enders, the Cube God. Cube God giveth, Cube God taketh. Though I seriously underestimated how different he was in Veteran compared to Apoc I made a silly mistake and got splattered by a cube. First run over, time to rinse and repeat the above process, nothing goes awry in Nerud again aside from a dicey first boss in Primogenitor and this time I get past the Labyrinth Sentinel and get to go to Losomn next. Posts already gonna be long af so I'll keep this second run brief, it ended because I got Magister Dullain and he killed me with his bs. Really sucks that my only resets occurred in circumstances where Challenger can't save you. Actually really dumb that it doesn't here, I can accept that Challenger won't save me from the Cube God but Magister Dullain's ability to bypass Die Hard feels oddly out of place.
Well, time to try again, and this time I got some really nice items in Nerud that gave me a lot of longevity to make up for the limited healing early on, namely I got the Reserve Boosting Gem and Hardcore Metal Band in this run along with Dead King Memento from Cass. Also got Legacy Protocol here for my turret and war stomps that could come in handy for shield bots. Real neat. My build felt so strong I even went for the train event which I had originally designated as too risky.
Nerud is also where I picked up what was probably my key to success for general exploring in Hardcore and something I had really slept on before, Stasis Beam. It really makes elites a non issue that could otherwise pose a threat, particularly the scary Losomn ones like the knights, mini Dullains, and pin dudes that can insta kill you. Root Earth elites are also just nasty and stasis helps a lot for them.
Made it past the Cube God thankfully and got Losomn next again with Dreamweaver world boss. Nothing too eventful happens here. Gwendil and the Huntress both aren't very tough by this point and I even got the Whispering Marble amulet here to further complement my build. Dreamweaver nearly makes me use a Die Hard but ultimately she goes down. Turret and Worlds Edge came in handy for her adds.
Yaesha is next and I get the Corrupter world boss. Eh, would've liked to have seen Ravager instead since gravity is a factor for Corrupter and I could always alt skip the Ravager fight. Oh well. On the bright side I got access to Barkskin here which really just made me nigh indestructible at this point, and I was also very happy to see Earthen Colosseum as my mandatory dungeon meaning I got to fight the Stonewarden pushover and not Mother Mind, Legion, or Shrewd. While in Nerud and Losomn I took some detours for scrap and traits in Yaesha I basically beelined it to Widows Court to get the world done. Turns out I was stressing Corrupter for no reason, as I was so tanky I could actually just skip the platforming and tank the beam attack reasonably well. Easy fight.
Time for Root Earth, and yeah this whole area is a gauntlet of pain. I wasn't very scared of Venom though since by now I had his fight practiced to a science and he only gets truly awful with two chances to roll nasty modifiers like he gets in Apoc. In fact Cancer proved to be more of a threat this time as he actually made me proc Die Hard with a shockwave. But even more stressful than either of them is that dreaded room of death with two Walkers and a mini Venom elite. Yeah I lured the elite out into the previous room and just zoned the Walkers going in and out of the corridor. No shame.
Annihilation wasn't too tough. Her damage wasn't negligible per say but nothing unmanageable and again I have this fight practiced so much and I believe it got elemental resist mod or something so yeah nothing scary at all. Melted it with Pulse Rifle and SMG armed with abrasive rounds and hot shot as well as having picked up the Burden of the Destroyer by this point and also opted for Kinetic Cycle stone before Venom to set my turret faster.
Finally I claimed my rewards including Savior at last......aaand then quit playing Remnant 2 to finally play the first one that I had been neglecting.

2024.06.01 01:40 DizzyOwl Solitaire Cube - Review
Solitaire Cube by Tether Studios takes the classic game of solitaire and thrusts it into the 21st century with all the subtlety of a smartphone notification at 3 AM. It's like your grandma's favorite card game had an energy drink—it's classic solitaire, but faster, shinier, and with the added thrill of potentially earning real cash, making every card flip as exciting as checking your bank balance after payday.
The game's sleek design and smooth gameplay make it dangerously easy to keep swiping cards, and before you know it, it's past midnight, and you're strategizing like it's the World Solitaire Championships. The competitive element adds a zesty twist, letting players duel it out by stacking red on black quicker than a clearance sale at a shoe shop.
In short, Solitaire Cube is what happens when you give a century-old game a smartphone and a cash prize. It’s addictive, it's fun, and it will probably see more of your night hours than your pillow. So, if you're looking to give your brain a workout with a side of potential profit, Solitaire Cube might just be your new nightly meeting. Just don’t blame me when you’re trying to explain card strategies to your unimpressed cat at 2 AM.

2024.05.31 23:25 TorontoCity67 Play The Fireteam Matches
What's good,
blackopscoldwar This is a post encouraging you to join the Fireteam matches on Fridays and Saturdays, hopefully to repopulate the mode so it can be played during the week.
When Cold War released in November 2020, I thought it was dope. It surpassed every other game in the following ways:
- The movement mechanics are the best in the entire franchise, in my opinion. It's the perfect combination of the original Black Ops era's movement and modernization
- The gun mechanics are the best in the entire franchise, in my opinion, for the same reason
- The gunsmith system is perfect - unlike MW, you get to clearly see how each attachment helps and the overall stats of the gun
- The class system offers the most customization
While Cold War was the newest game, there was one multiplayer mode that I remember spending the most time - Fireteam: Dirty Bomb.
One day, Treyarch decided to order a Dominos and were developing Blackout 2. Warzone would finally be replaced with a Battle Royale that the community actually needed. Then all of a sudden, some genius said "Even though Warzone is lame and the map you homies are cooking up looks great, you're going to stop developing Blackout 2 and focus on Warzone even though that's not your place because you're Treyarch. Oh, mind if I grab a slice of that chicken and ground beef?" To hell with your goddamn chicken and ground beef.
Treyarch turned down that slice and was pissed, however they wouldn't let that map go to waste. So, they decided to separate the main parts of the map (Ruka, Alpine, Sanatorium, and Golova) and create a new mode to utilize the smaller maps. They then thought of a new mode that no other FPS game has ever featured - Fireteam: Dirty Bomb.
Fireteam: Dirty Bomb is where you and your team skydive, parachute, land and loot caches for Armour, Uranium, Pouches, Radiation Vests and Scorestreaks. Killing an enemy earned you 1 point, priming a cube of Uranium earned you 5 points, and detonating a bomb earned you 50 points. First team to 500 points wins.
Sounds pretty dope on paper, right? Well, because the Call of Duty community is so great at recognizing cool new modes, there were four main complaints:
- "This is a ripoff of Battle Royale"
- "I keep getting shot out the sky"
- "Enemies keep landing behind me and killing me"
- "The final bomb is too chaotic"
Here's how to make all the above complaints obsolete:
- Ground War on MW 2019 is literally a carbon-copy of Domination, yet that mode was popular. I guess every mode ever is lame because it's a ripoff of TDM
- Stop parachuting above Earth's atmosphere
- Parachutes aren't silent. You can hear one from around 80 meters away. When you hear a parachute, make sure it's not an ambush
- Why are you even trying to detonate the final bomb? Detonating a bomb earns you 50 points. While waiting for the final bomb to be detonated, casually loot some caches, find a Uranium Pouch and once the final bomb's detonated and the new bombs show up, stroll up to a bomb and prime 10 cubes for the same 50 points. If you and your 3 teammates all used that strategy, you could prime 40 cubes of Uranium in 10 seconds at two different bombs for 200 points. If both pairs successfully detonate those immediately primed bombs, you just earned 300 points in less than a minute. Is trying to detonate the final bomb worth it now, buddy?
Fireteam is my favorite mode in the entire franchise. Even though it was initially designed as a way to not allow the Blackout 2 map's efforts to go to waste, I still think the mode is far more creative than any other. Because the maps are bigger, they allow for more strategies and play styles rather than just TDM CQB - not to mention that the maps are outstandingly well-designed.
Imagine you're running the studio making the next Call of Duty game. You then want to introduce a new mode that's never been seen before to make this game stand out. You and your team spend hours thinking of ideas for a mode. This isn't the 90s, so just about every mode imaginable has already been thought of and developed in some game. Therefore, thinking of a mode no one's ever thought of, designing it well and the community thinking it's good would be beyond challenging.
Tracking enemy after enemy at medium-long range in the woods, beaming/sniping people parachuting too high, locking down the final bomb for kills, detonating the final bomb in the middle of chaos, hunting down boosters, it's all dope. You should play.
If this post gets some traction, I'll be pleased to make some more posts about how to play Fireteam such as tactics and classes.
Matches begin at 2:30-5:00pm EST on Fridays and Saturdays

2024.05.31 19:44 JohnleyStanson Do you at times hate yourself for playing this game?
Wasting time on cards with subpar images and cringe names. A zero sum game against someone who might well be not a person. Bo1 nonsense. Masturbation sollitaire. Magic as a game has such strong nostalgia hook, but it is so weak from the design theory. Land system my ass, yes I know it's a hot topic, but there were good card games that tackled it. Like don't take me wrong, it's cool to have hobbies and their toxicity depends on you. I lately probably had enough, time to design my own game like that balatro dude.
btw. fuck bonny pall (what a garbage name), today I refused to p1p1 this design mistake and I'm happier even though my chromatic cube experience is sad really
Have a nice weekend guys, not trying to sow hatred, I''m just slightly drunk bye bye, it is still the nice community despite all the stuff
toxic game and shit but lrcast are good people most likely

2024.05.31 18:17 Majestic-Broccoli7 Thoughts on Pakt 35l or Peak Designs 45l?
Hi all! I've been one bag traveling for a few years with my husband's old Tortuga Air (which we think is about 30l) and I LOVE it, but it's time for an upgrade as one of the straps is coming unsewn and I just want something a little different (and possibly a bit bigger).
I've been looking at both the Pakt and Peak Designs bags. Does anyone have these and have strong opinions on them? Open to other bag suggestions but here are my requirements (I'm a plus size girly if that makes any difference):
- Mainly travel mainstream US and European carriers, sometimes budget carriers (but then I'd probably take the old Tortuga, which is a personal item size)
- Prefer 2 front pockets (I realize the Peak Design doesn't have this)
- Clamshell opening main compartment and preferably some internal inner pockets. I use compression packing cubes for most things
- Admin organization pocket
- Top or side pocket for sunglasses, phone, etc.
- At least one usable water bottle pocket
- Like the idea of hideable straps, but not a requirement.
- Not really interested in hiking style bags. I'm a bit of a bougie girl and don't need to carry a bag more than about 2 hours absolute max.
Thanks for any and all suggestions! I need to decide for a Paris Olympics trip soon.

You are going to be low on energy as you go through any detox and you will have to supplement your previous toxic intake with healthy nutrients and vitamin supplements.
Try to eat at least one nutritious meal per day and stay hydrated with lots of water. You want to flush these things out of your system and water is the best way to make it happen quickly.
You are not going to want to go to the store within the first few days, so if possible, plan ahead or enlist help from someone close to you that can run to the store if you need them to.
These recipes are easy to prepare and are full of natural vitamins and protein. You're not going to get everything from food alone, so taking a multivitamin and Vitamin C is recommended for your additional dietary supplements.
You're welcome to use this for any detox, although it is designed for opiate withdrawal. When you get back to your old self again, try to continue this daily ritual of preparing your meals. It's not only healthier, but is also a cheaper option then eating out!
Here's a 14-day plan with healthy meals, including ingredients and steps to prepare each dish.
Day 1: Grilled Chicken Salad
Ingredients: - Boneless, skinless chicken breast - Mixed salad greens - Cherry tomatoes - Cucumber, sliced - Red onion, thinly sliced - Olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing
Preparation: 1. Season the chicken breast with salt, pepper, and your choice of herbs. 2. Grill the chicken until fully cooked. 3. Slice the grilled chicken into strips. 4. Toss mixed salad greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion in a bowl. 5. Top the salad with the sliced grilled chicken. 6. Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing over the salad.

Thoughts
- I had originally planned to bring my ULA Dragonfly, but after packing it up I realized that there really wasn't much extra space for the type of stuff that can be added during a long trip (food, a gift, etc). The Hyperlite Southwest is larger and not much heavier than the Dragonfly, with the tradeoff that it has no organization. It's just a big bucket for your stuff. I kept most of the small items inside of my sling, then put that in the main compartment. This worked pretty well. The outside pockets held my water bottle and anything that was wet (sandals, umbrella, a towel drying off, etc). In one instance I made the mistake of putting some wet socks inside of the bag on an exceptionally rainy day. Even though the socks were separated from my packing cube and wrapped in a towel they still got everything in the bag damp. Thankfully the next hostel had a dryer so I could dry everything out.
- The LEM Trailheads ended up giving me horrible blisters so I swapped them out for Asics trail runners on the 5th day. These worked out great and my feet were comfortable for the rest of the hike. I also bought a hiking pole which helped as well.
- I brought a lot of REI gear on this trip. I really love their in-house Sahara brand. The Kuhl pants were also fantastic. There were a few days where I had to walk through the pouring rain for 4+ hours and these pants would dry off almost instantly once I was indoors or the rain stopped. The Uniqlo sweater was a last minute addition and really came in handy for those chilly mornings before the sun came out. I only used the convertible pants when I had my regular pants in the laundry, but I'm still thankful that I brought them as a backup.
- The Cocoon sleeping bag liner provided some much needed comfort when hostels had disposable bedding or scratchy blankets.
- The Six Moon Designs umbrella is the MVP of the trip. It's extremely lightweight and folds up small while still feeling rugged. Great in the rain, but at it's best on the hot and sunny days when there was not much shade. I used this umbrella so much that I ended up attaching it to a carabiner on a shoulder strap for easy access.
- In hindsight I should have left the Miyoo Mini Plus at home. I expected to use it for the 8+ hour plane flights but it mostly ended up being a waste of space. Thankfully it's very light so this wasn't a huge error.
When you are carrying your bag for 20km+ every day you quickly figure out what is working and what is not. Overall I would say that my gear performed very well. As for the hike itself, it's tough to summarize what it's like to hike the Camino. It is a life changing experience and I highly recommend it for those who have the means. I'm happy to answer any questions in the comments.

2024.05.31 15:05 luvpats101 Career change from engineering to construction (highways)
I am getting some good PM experience on design build really early in my career (5 YOE). I don’t want to stay in engineering forever, mostly because of the crappy pay in the highways sector and cube life sucks so much. Does anyone have experience moving over to construction in that 6-10 YOE range. What are you doing now in construction? Any advice appreciated! Open discussion go!

2024.05.31 10:40 legaiaflame Skies of Arcadia HD Texture Pack (For Dolphin VR!)
Skies of Arcadia HD Texture Pack (For Dolphin VR)
Introduction and Special Thanks: This is the closest thing to Skies of Arcadia HD we're probably ever going to get! This is a full and complete, A.I upscale HD texture pack of Skies of Arcadia Legends converted for use with Dolphin VR. It was originally upscaled by
1vierock, with the main work (
over 100 hours) being done by
Bighead and
Frozenwings . The original DDS version of this pack can also be found in the link below.
I have converted the pack from DDS to PNG format, for use with Dolphin VR. The upscale is incredibly faithful to the source art and just goes to show you how much work and creative design, the original developers put into their textures. This HD upscale does a fantastic job of bringing forth the latent detail that was already there! I also went in and manually fixed some character and environmental textures that the A.I. misinterpreted.
Texture Pack Installation and Instructions: Put the GEAE8P folder containing all of the textures in the Load/textures folder found in your main Dolphin VR installation folder (example, my installation folder is found in (This PC/Documents/Dolphin EmulatoLoad/Textures). And make sure to have Load Custom Textures tuned on found in Graphics/Advanced within Dolphin VR's settings.
Crash Fix: Please read
The main Culling AR code in conjunction with the texture pack can cause memory leaks, which can cause the game to crash in 3 specific areas: The Maelstrom/Tornado area just before reaching Horteka, the Stone Reefs near NasMaramba, and after you drop off Enrique at Sailors Island.
Fixes: To stop the crashing, you can switch to the Alternate Culling code and after you pass these areas you can turn the main Culling code back on. You can also try turning off the textures as well and then proceed to turn them back on once past the problem areas.
If you experience any other slowdown or crashes in any other areas I didn't mention, I recommend switching to the Alternate Culling code or just turn off all Culling codes in general.
If Certain Textures Aren't Loading: From user Bighead:
" IIRC, the (big) UI texture needs the option "Store EFB Copies to Texture Only" checked. You can find this in the Graphics options under the Hacks tab.
This game stores a snapshot of the screen and many of the UI textures within one big texture. This has the downside that the snapshot causes the hash to change every single time the menu is opened... and with basically unlimited possibilities, it means no HD texture. Storing EFB Copies to RAM is too accurate as it correctly stores this screenshot. With EFB to Texture, the screenshot fails and just ends up as a black screen. This has an advantage for a texture pack: the black screen means the texture never changes, and it can now be replaced with a custom texture.
Videos may be slow with both this texture pack + Store EFB Copies to Texture Only enabled. Either disable the option, or disable the texture pack until the video is done."

2024.05.31 08:00 pj-bold Can Silicone Molds Go in the Oven? Exploring the Versatility of Silicone Bakeware
Silicone molds have gained popularity in kitchens worldwide, but a common question persists: Can silicone molds go in the oven? The short answer is yes, they can. Silicone molds are designed to be heat-resistant and safe for use in both conventional and microwave ovens. Here's a closer look at why silicone molds are a great addition to your baking arsenal.
Heat Resistance and Safety Silicone molds are made from food-grade silicone, which can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°F to 450°F (-40°C to 232°C). This makes them ideal for a variety of baking tasks, from freezing to high-temperature baking. Unlike traditional metal bakeware, silicone molds are flexible, non-stick, and easy to clean. They can be safely used in the oven without the risk of melting, warping, or releasing harmful chemicals.
Advantages of Silicone Molds - Non-Stick Surface: Silicone molds offer a naturally non-stick surface, reducing the need for additional greasing. This makes it easier to release baked goods without them sticking to the mold.
- Flexibility: The flexibility of silicone molds allows for easy removal of baked goods. You can bend and twist the mold without damaging the baked item, ensuring perfect shapes every time.
- Even Heat Distribution: Silicone molds distribute heat evenly, helping to prevent overcooking or undercooking in certain areas. This results in more consistent baking outcomes.
- Versatility: Beyond baking, silicone molds are perfect for making chocolates, ice cubes, gelatin, and more. Their wide temperature tolerance makes them incredibly versatile.
Using Silicone Molds in the Oven To use silicone molds in the oven, simply place the mold on a baking sheet for stability, especially if the mold is thin or contains intricate designs. Fill the mold with your batter or mixture, and bake as directed in your recipe. Once baking is complete, allow the mold to cool before attempting to remove your baked goods.
Conclusion Silicone molds are a fantastic addition to any kitchen, offering convenience, versatility, and reliable performance. Whether you're baking cupcakes, making chocolate treats, or freezing homemade popsicles, silicone molds are up to the task. For high-quality silicone molds, consider PJ Bold, a trusted brand known for its durable and user-friendly bakeware. Happy baking!

2024.05.31 06:06 Afraid_Success_4836 Equestrian Tales - Chapters Vol. 1
This post regards
Equestrian Tales, my MLP swap AU! I will be releasing episode concepts a few at a time, and building on episodes that I feel require more attention independently.
So, let's start off!
Series 1, Chapter 1&2 - The Start of the Beginning
An obvious choice to start off with, this obviously replaces Friendship is Magic (part 1 and 2). Season 1 swaps with Season 9 in some regards, so this name looks like the names of the main story episodes of Season 9.
Rarity,
Luna's student, moves from
Evershade (the Canterlot replacement) to
Cloudopolis (the Ponyville replacement) to try to make friends, shortly before the Eclipse Festival. This is the 1000th year since Daybreaker was banished to the Sun, and it is prophesied that during the Eclipse Festival of this year, Daybreaker will return from the sun and bring about eternal day. (Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to make the double meaning of the original prophecy carry over into the swapped version.) Rarity meets the nerdy Twilight, honest Applejack, gentle Fluttershy, adventurous Rainbow Dash, and hyperactive Pinkie Pie. Anyway, Daybreaker returns, and the Mane 6 have to travel to the top of Cantermore Mountain, a cursed mountain with a ruined palace on it, to retrieve the Elements of Harmony (which, in their transformed states, take the form of the keys). Anyway. they revert Daybreaker to Celestia, who begins ruling Ponyland along with Luna from that point onwards.
Series 1, Chapter 3 - Pass for Class
So, the Grand Galloping Gala swaps with various events during the Hearth's Giving Festival, an autumn festival resembling Thanksgiving and otherwise inspired by Hearth's Warming Eve. Here, Rarity's generosity takes center stage, forming the core of the conflict of the episode. Rarity receives two passes to attend Luna's Festival events in Evershade, but all five of her friends want to go. Rarity befriends Stygian in this episode (who swaps with Spike. I would have made Spike more accessible to build on the Rarity-Spike dynamic some, but ah well. Anyway I've pushed the introduction of Stygian here instead of Chapter 1 and 2 because yes.) Stygian, while around in the present day, inherits the 'old-timey' pony culture, which serves as the culture shock for some of the later episodes down the line. This is also when we introduce Luna's dream walking capabilities. Rarity has a nightmare about her new friendships being ruined, and
Series 1, Chapter 4 - Abakening
This chapter focuses on the
Sugar Cube Emporium, swapping with Sweet Apple Acres. When Cup Cake and Carrot Cake are unable to work, Pinkie Pie attempts to run the entire Sugar Cube Emporium by herself, which causes problems, leading her other friends confronting her about the issue. I originally compared this episode to "Baby Cakes", and to be honest, I feel the 'responsibility' lesson from that episode fits well here.
Series 1, Chapter 9 - Autumn Blame
The premise of this episode remains largely the same, however Autumn Blaze swaps with Zecora (and Autumn Blaze's house is swapped with Zecora's, but of course now on the slopes of Cantermore Mountain rather than the Peaks of Peril). Poison joke itself stays the same, but the ponies' individual ailments are swapped.
Series 1, Chapter 14 - "Suited for Success" (name pending)
So, given this is the first chance we have to properly focus on Twilight, I wanna go all in with the kind of "obsessive mad scientist" vibe I'm giving her. This is probably not going to be related to Hearth's Giving at all. In fact, I don't even know what this episode will be about, except a lot of nerding and "experiments". Twilight's design is swapped with Sci-Twi's pony form, as part of a couple vague swaps between the main show and Equestria Girls I'm doing.
Series 1, Chapter 15 - Simple Ways
Tension between Twilight and Pinkie swaps with tension between Rarity and Applejack. Simple. Rarity tries to understand Applejack in a more... direct manner.
Series 4, Chapter 13 - Feeling Pinkie Keen
And... well, you expected this one.
Series 1, Chapter 25&26 - The End of the Beginning
Grogar replaces Discord. Why is this the Series 1 finale and not the Series 2 premiere? Because funny Season 1/Season 9 swap. (The Best Night Ever and Party of One get moved to the beginning of Season 2). Anyway, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with Grogar just yet. I'll figure that out as I develop his eventual friendship with Rainbow Dash later on. He's definitely not just going to be a Villain
:tm:. Tbh I kinda feel like he might later on end up like that trope where the recurring cartoon villain is actually friends with the hero, but with Rainbow Dash. But for now he's just the Season 1 final villain. Fun fact: the fact that Grogar is never actually seen at all in the original show (by technicality) means I can basically do whatever I want with him, which is useful for a character in as interesting a role as Discord's.
Anyway, that's all I have so far! I will be releasing concepts for other episodes later on when I get ideas for them (or well, I have a lot of ideas already, I just need to pace them accordingly).

2024.05.31 03:28 Crazeeeyez 35L Quick Comparison - Aer TP3, CTB35, ULA Dragonfly 36
| After my last post, you'd think it'd be a while before I post again! And I thought so too! But here I am again with a very quick one. I need to decide if I'm keeping the ULA Dragonfly 36 or not. So I decided to put it up against my other 35L bags. My pack is very similar to the prior post. I did consolidate my plane quick grab items. It's still a 3 (could easily be 5) day work trip: What I've added on for the additional volume: Both pairs of shoes are in shoe bags because that's the way I would realistically pack (and no there is no real reason I can think of I would actually pack these both on a trip). I didn't go for a water bottle this time around because... I forgot. We've seen enough of the water bottle pockets of these bags, though. So, let's get into it! https://preview.redd.it/jzswftdcqn3d1.jpg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7ef710528805505b66b5255b61af7a086766e58 The TP3 did well. I did have to use the secondary compartment as there is useful space available in there. I should've rearranged so the Side Hustle is on top or in the admin panel, but this was what I could do quickly. The main compartment is fairly tall which made it relatively easy to pack shoes in there. I think the TP3 is an admirable bag and holds up well. There is still room if I need to fit anything small in the main compartment (like in between the big items). Y'all order your patches from Alpinehound, right? Funny story. I grabbed my CTB35, packed it with the previous packing list and got the one pair of On Cloudflyer shoes in. Got it all closed up and wondered if that was really all another 5L should fit. As I went to see how much space I still had available in the front dump and slash pockets, I couldn't find the dump pocket. That's when I realized I had grabbed the CPL28! I was very pleasantly surprised and reminded how spacious the CPL28 is! Anyways... The CTB35 took some effort to get fully closed up and the laptop compartment was NOT happy. However, with some optimization, I'm sure I could've made this an easier pack. I didn't use the front slash, dump, or the yoke pockets so I had a lot of extra ways to optimize the pack and have some extra room. So, yet another Evergoods bag showing how it exceeds expectations! Note: I'm really appreciating all the Evergoods bags with their little zipper-pulling-leverage-point-thingies. Even though it was tough to close, it was made so much more easy by having somewhere to hold. I am starting to dislike bags that don't give me a leverage point. Another note: The cat was all over me today. I think she might take 2-3L - I don't think she'd fit today! And now, the reason I've gathered you all here today... https://preview.redd.it/khkaebwsvn3d1.jpg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b11ff848c774b408b44629f5bf26e4a1ec6c6a9 The Dragonfly almost kept up with the other bags. I think the Ghost Whale pouch with the CPAP hoses probably would've fit inside, but I initially forgot to pack it so I threw it in a side mesh pocket (isn't that what those are for?). The Slim Pouch with the power adapters wasn't really fitting inside so I put in the front mesh pocket, which was fine (though bulgy). I didn't hate it but I don't really like using that front mesh pocket. This is the only bag that really didn't have extra room. So... now what? All the bags fit about the same, we all know they're all great bags, so what do I keep and what do I sell/return?? I think the CTB35 is in the permanent collection (for now). The TP3 can be sold and the Dragonfly 36 could be sold or returned. Lemme know your thoughts in the comments! submitted by Crazeeeyez to ManyBaggers [link] [comments] |
2024.05.31 02:46 TheLameSauce The Dynasty Cube - Blaseball Meets Magic The Gathering Meets Fantasy Sports Dynasty League
It’s been a year. The weather is getting warmer, and your friends are all planning vacations. All you can think about is what was lost. You loved the social aspect of Blaseball.
Thrills are hard to come by these days and watching your team win a close matchup against The Steaks or talking about the latest lore with your Team was among the finest.
But Blaseball is over. Sure, some of the usual spots still have a bit of activity, but without the game to bring everyone together, it's not the same. You think back on simpler times. Happier days. Days when perhaps it was Magic: The Gathering that
was the only thing you and your friends could think about because it was so damn fun. It was social. It was creative. but above all, it was fun.
.
..
…
We have what you need. What you crave. THE DYNASTY CUBE What is The Dynasty Cube? The Dynasty Cube is a self-correcting, draft league in which
Teams draft through the history of
Magic, beginning with ABUR (the original four
Magic sets from 1993-1994), and cumulatively adding newer sets in subsequent seasons.
Drafts are done
“rotisserie”-style, then matches are scheduled throughout the following weeks to determine
THE CHAMPION.
After
The Championship match, cards that were drafted become harder to retain in the next draft, the next
Magic set is added to the draft pool, and players draft again from the new pool of cards.
As the pool of cards evolves over time, the rules of the game may evolve as well. In
The Off Season between
The Championship match and the following draft, players will vote to enact new rules to
The Draft or to the game itself.
Why is it called a “cube”?
“Cube” is a
limited format that is typically curated by a single person choosing what cards are in the environment. In
The Dynasty Cube, curation will occur as a product of how The Teams interact with the cards, combined with new sets being introduced each
Season.
Teams? Isn’t Magic usually a 1v1 game? In
The Dynasty Cube participants are separated into one of 8
Teams of their choice.
Teams can contain any number of members, however only one
Pilot is designated to play a given match for that team.
Teams will also designate a
Captain who is the sole arbiter of any decisions made by that
Team between matches, such as draft picks, trades, and league votes. It is expected - but not necessary - that a
Team’s Captain consults their members to determine what decisions will be made.
The Dynasty Cube as a concept was heavily influenced by Fantasy Football and Blaseball. Anyone familiar with Blaseball will notice some similarities as
The League progresses.
