I quit my job to build something of my own in sustainability & ML/AI as I'm passionate about doing my bit for the climate. It's early stages right now and I feel the need for business education to help with this journey. Being self-employed, I'm wondering what are my chances at top b-schools, esp. INSEAD, Harvard, Wharton, etc. given there's no supervisor or investor to recommend me (for my current work ex). And what can I do to improve my chances?

The dilemma for me currently is that to be in peace one should surrender and do self-investigation. Attending to other things, using a sense of doer ship or worrying about life is the antithesis of the aforementioned practice. As it takes one’s attention away from Self and also it fosters a sense of my will not God’s. So this is often the way for people who practice non-duality exclusively and not the four paths of yoga let’s say.
However, for me I still can’t get over the illusion that peace can be attained through changing my lifestyle to a certain way. I think that I need to make myself stop doing any form of tamasic activities, go harder on the formal practices and live a more active fulfilling worldly life. Even though, I know that these are just temporary aids and the peace they provide are borrowed.
So it’s like I want to do both the non-dualist practice but yet want to clean up my dualistic life, but they are contrary practices almost. To pursue external changes one cannot deny that desire is required. Even with a Karma Yoga based mindset, one has to still desire and perturb one’s contentment to make these changes. I have also found myself when being overly concerned with my external life feeling more stressed, discontent and aggressive to others. It’s also possible I’m burnt out with this desire based way of living or I’m afraid to get entangled in the world again.
So the dilemma is that I could clean up my life more, but it is at a cost of my own peace which I’m trying to establish with my self-enquiry. My life isn’t a mess and I do what’s needed to be done for the day, but like everyone there are problems and things I know could do better. Sometimes I tell myself I need to get to a certain state of life before committing to this non-dual practice. But I also see that is a trap cause, even when I get there I’ll have some other desire that post-pones my commitment to self-enquiry.
I can see possible solutions like:
•Only practicing self-investigation on certain hours of the day and for the rest of my day just going with the desire to live a holy fulfilling life.
•Plan my day down and then follow the plan while doing self-investigation.
•Letting go of my desires for change and also the current negative habits I do now, so that I can flow properly.
•Just stick with the self-enquiry eventually it will work smoothly with your life.

There's a person on leadership that is the reason I'm leaving and I've kept a dated list of her singling me out in front of coworkers/correcting me on things that her leaders told me aren't rules, an unsafe lack of communication etc...
i know this version of the list (names changed, i'm going by "sam", krista is the Team Lead and Melissa is her daughter)
I know in it's current state it's very emotionally based but i'd like to maybe edit it ot get to the heart of the problem? i dunno. It's probably not worth sending but, fuck was it nice to type it all out.

3/2- Ian told Carter to shadow me. Krista kept adding in things which is her job as one of the leads but at one point, I was redirecting a child from the splash pad slide pool to the waterfall pool and Krista interrupted me in front of the guest:
Krista: “What are you doing?”
Sam: “Oh! I learned it from summer camp, kids respond better to being redirected than just being told no.”
Krista: “You can’t tell a kid what to do. This is a resort.”
Carter: “I think redirecting makes sense.”
Krista: “Just tell the kid the rules.”
I spoke with Sheila and Jonah in the Management Office and they both agreed to take the mindset that Krista and I are both trying to keep the pool safe and treat her with compassion. I absolutely have been trying my best to keep that mindset but, over the next few examples, I feel very strongly that it hasn’t been returned.
3/21- Mo was Team Lead. There was a couple in mid that were yelling and cursing at each other. I was on mid, I blew my whistle twice and held my fist up. Mo looked at me and kept scanning. I blew my whistle twice and held my fist up again. Mo made his way over and I informed him of the problem. He said “we can’t do anything unless a guest complains.”
A few minutes later, an off duty staff member did complain. Once again, it took two tries to get Mo’s attention. I sent the staff member to speak to Mo directly. By then, the argument had dwindled down so there was nothing for Mo to handle.
4/1- I was filling out an incident report after a first aid emergency and Krista told me to go rotate. I was later corrected by Trish that incident reports are indeed supposed to be done before roating out. This is more minor but, there seems to be a few incidents of leadership not being on the same page.
4/14- tried to ask Melissa where I should be for attraction as we were all walking to attraction. She kept waking ahead of me & ignored me after I tried to ask her or others in the group a few different times at different volumes. I went to Dispatch and she asked, “why are you here?”, I said”you weren't communicating so I just picked a spot.”
4/15- I mentioned to Tim that I’m feeling frustrated with the way Krista and Melissa are treating me. Tim mentioned that perception of others is important, which I agree with. Tim said he would talk to Melissa but he hasn’t followed up with me to this date and Melissa’s behavior hasn’t noticeably changed. Still a general, subtle pattern of being ignored: she will walk ahead of me during rotation instead of alongside me, will ignore me when I say good morning in the break room, etc.
4/10(ish?)- I was called to be Eye Full guard because team lead and another break room guard were dealing with a medical emergency. Multiple chaperones from the school were involved but I kept my eyes on the pool. The medical emergency took a good 60 minutes or so. Before the other break room guard rotated to Mid, I asked her for an update. She updated me on what was going on. As I roated out Krista, she began to berate me for “taking too long and chatting with the other guards instead of rotating out”
“I was just asking the other guard what was going on, making sure they didn’t need an extra break from dealing with the emergency.”
“You need to be more on time with your breaks. I’ve been standing here for a long time and I saw you talk to her multiple times.”
I’m not certain if she confused the guard with a guest dressed in red that I was talking to, since it was the other end of the pool. I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt.
4/22– Krista took multiple extended rotations to chat with other guards for non-emergency reasons, leaving me on the stand for a while. Even the current Team Lead commented on this.
4/- during closing shift, Mo was lead. Melissa and I were doing chairs on the lawn, near each other. Mo called me on radio to have Melissa clean female lockers. Melissa ignored me after I called after her multiple times at differing volumes. Even once looking me in the eyes and ignoring me. Melissa finally responded, saying Mo told her to do chairs. I told her Mo just radioed me ten seconds ago and she got visibility irritated.
5/ 8- There was a baby in the hot pool. I told the guest, “Just so you know, we reccomend that tiny ones not be in the hot pool because they have trouble regulating their temperature.” I went on break and the guest didn’t complain, at least not to me. Melissa and I are both on break.
Krista calls for both break room guards to come out. I get out there first and ask what’s up. Krista says, “We should wait for everyone.”
We sit there and wait for Melissa to come out.
Krista proceeds to correct me: “Sam. Are you aware of the rules posted on the sign?”
Sam: “Have the rules been changed recently?”
Krista: “Are you aware of the rules posted on the sign?”
Sam: “If I’ve done something specific that needs to be corrected, please just tell me.”
Krista: I spoke with Tim and he said we aren’t supposed to correct guests on how to take care of their children.
Sam: “Alright. Understood. I was told by Reese that we weren’t allowed to let little ones in the hot pool.”
Krista: “Okay, you can both go rotate.”
I spoke to her after the next rotation because, honestly being singled out with an audience was upsetting especially when it was something I’d been told was a rule by a Head Guard. She claimed that she was “making sure everyone heard the new rule”.
4/22- I said good morning to Krista. Krista looked right at me blankly and started talking to Nova. When I was mid guard, Krista kept watching my zone rather than hers. At one point, she left deep entirely to correct some guests in mid. During break, I asked her what had happened, in case I had missed an important safety issue.
Krista: “Oh, just some kids being bullies.”
Sprinkled in amongst the documented more lifeguard/leadership specific issues are general trends of being ignored in the break room. Melissa or Krista will look at me and ignore me when I try to say hello or make small talk. Boris and Cam have both noticed it as well, it’s not just in my head. I confronted Melissa on this once:
Sam: “Hey, I know we don’t need to be BFFs at work but I can tell that you and Krista are treating me differently. What’s going on?”
Melissa: “I treat you the same as everyone else, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
I’ve even tried apologizing to Melissa and Krista, just in case I was the problem:
Sam: “Hey, I wanted to apologize if I’ve been a bit erratic. I’ve been dealing with some personal issues and might have taken things out on the wrong people? If I did hurt you, that was wrong of me and I’m sorry. I’m working on it.”
Melissa: “Oh, thanks.”
Still no change in either’s behavior.
Work is not where I go to make friends but there’s something to be said about being given the cold shoulder at a place I spend 40hrs a week. I can only be the happy sunshine person that I love to be, if at least a little joy is given to me in return.
I’ve been a Waterfront Director in charge of training other (often high school aged) guards. I’ve been a Head Guard. I’ve taken orientations or extra training on how to properly lead, how to understand other’s specific feedback needs or how to see the stressed out human vs their mistakes. I used to be a poor leader: i was blunt and too direct, too my-way-or-the-highway as a leader. But I learned a lot from other managers who have trained me and I place a high value on my leadership toolbox and how far I’ve come as a leader. Because of this, I have high expectations of the leadership I encounter at work.
I understand that Krista is going through some heavy things– so am I. I still deserve to be treated with respect, not singled out in front of her daughter or treated as if I’m a day-one lifeguard rather than someone who’s been doing this for five years. I understand that I have, will, am always going to make mistakes, but there’s a lot to be said about how you speak to someone when you’re correcting them. I think that’s something that Krista could work on. Learning other’s “correction styles” and giving better feedback that way. I feel that would make the team stronger! I’m not in any sort of position to correct her leadership style. I’m just a “normal” lifeguard. Just my opinion.
It’s not just in my head as other staff have noticed my ostracization. (1, 2, and I'm fairly certain that 3 has seen Melissa straight up ignore me when I’ve tried asking her a question in the Manager Office more than once)
This strange drama has caused rifts in communication that could have future safety consequences. Because of this– mostly small things, but a larger pattern of communication and overall a lack of support from management about how to fix it– I’m resigning from my lifeguard role.
I really wanted to grow with this company. It seemed like a nice facility, an interesting new job. But this weird dynamic between Melissa and Krista and I is just too taxing, so it’s time for me to move on. Thank you.

4/- during closing shift, Mo was lead. Melissa and I were doing chairs on the lawn, near each other. Mo called me on radio to have Melissa clean female lockers. Melissa ignored me after I called after her multiple times at differing volumes. Even once looking me in the eyes and ignoring me. Melissa finally responded, saying Mo told her to do chairs. I told her Mo just radioed me ten seconds ago and she got visibility irritated.
5/ 8- There was a baby in the hot pool. I told the guest, “Just so you know, we reccomend that tiny ones not be in the hot pool because they have trouble regulating their temperature.” I went on break and the guest didn’t complain, at least not to me. Melissa and I are both on break.
Krista calls for both break room guards to come out. I get out there first and ask what’s up. Krista says, “We should wait for everyone.”
We sit there and wait for Melissa to come out.
Krista proceeds to correct me: “Sam. Are you aware of the rules posted on the sign?”
Sam: “Have the rules been changed recently?”
Krista: “Are you aware of the rules posted on the sign?”
Sam: “If I’ve done something specific that needs to be corrected, please just tell me.”
Krista: I spoke with Tim and he said we aren’t supposed to correct guests on how to take care of their children.
Sam: “Alright. Understood. I was told by Reese that we weren’t allowed to let little ones in the hot pool.”
Krista: “Okay, you can both go rotate.”
I spoke to her after the next rotation because, honestly being singled out with an audience was upsetting especially when it was something I’d been told was a rule by a Head Guard. She claimed that she was “making sure everyone heard the new rule”.
4/22- I said good morning to Krista. Krista looked right at me blankly and started talking to Nova. When I was mid guard, Krista kept watching my zone rather than hers. At one point, she left deep entirely to correct some guests in mid. During break, I asked her what had happened, in case I had missed an important safety issue.
Krista: “Oh, just some kids being bullies.”
Sprinkled in amongst the documented more lifeguard/leadership specific issues are general trends of being ignored in the break room. Melissa or Krista will look at me and ignore me when I try to say hello or make small talk. Boris and Cam have both noticed it as well, it’s not just in my head. I confronted Melissa on this once:
Sam: “Hey, I know we don’t need to be BFFs at work but I can tell that you and Krista are treating me differently. What’s going on?”
Melissa: “I treat you the same as everyone else, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
I’ve even tried apologizing to Melissa and Krista, just in case I was the problem:
Sam: “Hey, I wanted to apologize if I’ve been a bit erratic. I’ve been dealing with some personal issues and might have taken things out on the wrong people? If I did hurt you, that was wrong of me and I’m sorry. I’m working on it.”
Melissa: “Oh, thanks.”
Still no change in either’s behavior.
Work is not where I go to make friends but there’s something to be said about being given the cold shoulder at a place I spend 40hrs a week. I can only be the happy sunshine person that I love to be, if at least a little joy is given to me in return.
I’ve been a Waterfront Director in charge of training other (often high school aged) guards. I’ve been a Head Guard. I’ve taken orientations or extra training on how to properly lead, how to understand other’s specific feedback needs or how to see the stressed out human vs their mistakes. I used to be a poor leader: i was blunt and too direct, too my-way-or-the-highway as a leader. But I learned a lot from other managers who have trained me and I place a high value on my leadership toolbox and how far I’ve come as a leader. Because of this, I have high expectations of the leadership I encounter at work.
I understand that Krista is going through some heavy things– so am I. I still deserve to be treated with respect, not singled out in front of her daughter or treated as if I’m a day-one lifeguard rather than someone who’s been doing this for five years. I understand that I have, will, am always going to make mistakes, but there’s a lot to be said about how you speak to someone when you’re correcting them. I think that’s something that Krista could work on. Learning other’s “correction styles” and giving better feedback that way. I feel that would make the team stronger! I’m not in any sort of position to correct her leadership style. I’m just a “normal” lifeguard. Just my opinion.
It’s not just in my head as other staff have noticed my ostracization. (1, 2, and I'm fairly certain that 3 has seen Melissa straight up ignore me when I’ve tried asking her a question in the Manager Office more than once)
This strange drama has caused rifts in communication that could have future safety consequences. Because of this– mostly small things, but a larger pattern of communication and overall a lack of support from management about how to fix it– I’m resigning from my lifeguard role.
I really wanted to grow with this company. It seemed like a nice facility, an interesting new job. But this weird dynamic between Melissa and Krista and I is just too taxing, so it’s time for me to move on. Thank you.

Stats: 3.7(?) GPA, 9 AP classes by end of sr year plus 3 dual enrollment style college credit classes and 1 history class taken at a local LAC. Current SAT 1390 but retaking it and hoping for 1450+ (should be achievable as I did not study at all first time and have a good RW score). No ACT. High AP exam scores in relevant subjects though I doubt that affects anything.
ECs: President and cofounder of school GSA, hosted events achieved goals such as gender neutral bathrooms and name changes in the system for trans kids. Headed lighting tech for school plays since freshman year, 8+ events. Varsity bowling (yes I’m lazy). Featured fiction and nonfiction works in school-wide publications. Participant and leader in a rock/music/social justice camp for 10 years, worked at events hosted by the organization, performed events promoting or including the organization including an official celebration for women’s hall of fame inaugurations. Run a blog reviewing political, historical, and sociological nonfiction. Lived abroad in Ireland 4 times from an early age. Anyone can do the sadhana, but for females it is important to stop the sadhana for 2-3 days after periods has happened to recover from it, no superstition is there just for the health of the females because the sadhana brings with it tremendous energy with it, and one should probably not do it when they are unwell. First choose a deity, be it any God or Goddess you feel most connected to. It is suggested that you don't go to the ugra (fierce) forms of the deities like mahavidya or other ugra forms bhairava in first go. Built a base first, then you can proceed. Again, without proper guru and initiation, doing any of the ugra sadhana can have serious impacts on one's life. So it is recommended to not go there, without a guru. If you have a guru in physical form, consult them about any sadhanas you are gonna perform.
Go to more somya (non-fierce) forms of the deities. If you don't have a guru, you can make any deity as your guru. If you are attracted to Shri Krishna, you can make them your guru and worship them. If you feel you are more drawn to Lord Shiva, you can make them you guru and worship them as well. It is generally recommended to make a guru first, be it physical or non-physicals to get their blessings. You can make different deity a guru and worship some different deity, for example if you don't have a guru but you want to worship Goddess Laxmi, you can make Lord Krishna your guru and worship Devi Laxmi. Just that you have to devote yourself equally to both of your guru and your choosen deity.
Practical Theory
Choose a place and time you will be practicing your sadhana. It's recommended to do it in the brahma muhurta. Have two japa Mala, one for your guru and one for your deity. From my personal experience, Zyn is more addictive than smoking or vaping. I've been trying zyn to quit smoking, but I've found that the non-immediate release of nicotine is much more addictive. My conclusion is that if you want to quit nicotine you just gotta do nic patches or just quit warm turkey; Slow it down until you get this awful habit out of your life. Nicotine is terrible. It's only societally acceptable because its profitable for whomever stands to benefit from people being addicted. It is more convenient than vaping, which is why i quit vaping in favor of smoking ciggies(they smell bad and if you don't go outside ur a dick). The long(er)-release into your system gets you even more hooked because rather than just a hit, packing a lip, (or an upper-decky as the cool kids say (im 22)), gives you a dome that can be 10+ minutes. Bad. It's preying on addiction just like any other nicotine product. It's all predatory.

For context, my wife and I never wanted to get married. Both of us came from abusive homes. The abuse was mostly because our parents hated eachother, but didn't want to get divorced and took their anger out on us. We both felt like marriage could trap us to someone after they became abusive and it scared us.
We started dating in highschool. After we graduated I worked dead end jobs trying to save up money for a few years to be able to move out, but never could.I joined the military to finally get away from my parents. My then girlfriend (now wife) and i had a long distance relationship for a few years with me coming down to visit around once a month on 4-day weekends while she went to college. I was lucky enough to get stationed within the millage radius.
She was living in a college dorm for the first few years and was close to graduating, but suddenly had to move out since her father decided not to cosign for her and made her move back in. The abuse got really bad. He had tracking on her car and would remotely make it honk when she went somewhere he didn't like. He wouldn't let her go anywhere besides work, school, or home. Her life was very bad. I told her that if we got married we could get a house on base and she could go to college here (the army would increase my pay to accommodatethis). At first she said no since she didn't want to be locked in with someone, but one day when I got home from a week in the field I turned on my phone and was greated by hundreds of texts and missed calls. She had packed a suit case with a few cloths, her birth certificate, and her SS card, and was living at my mom's house. (My parents divorced soon after i left and could only take their anger out on eachother. They became really chill once they were apart and even apologized for everything they put me through. It's not a perfect relationship, but it'sreally not part of this story so I'llskip it)
I came down with a 4-day weekend pass and we got married in the court house. She came up and we lived on post. The abuse was way worse than I originally thought. She refused to live anywhere except on posy because she wanted to be in a super secure area her father and step mother couldn't find her. She had panic attacks whenever she saw cars that looked like theirs. The first 6 months were the worst. She would cry herself to sleep every night. Every morning I would wake up to her quietly sobbing. I would go to work and when I came back she would still be quietly sobbing in the corner I left her in, yet somehow the house was trashed. I would cook food and beg her to eat it and drink water. She would reluctantly. Then she would cry herself to sleep and the process would begin again. I got her into therapy and signed her up for college. That seemed to help some, but she was still a mess.
Fast forward and we've been married for 7 years. She has never held a job sighting her mental health as the issue. It was fine since I was very good with money and could provide for both of us. Her mental heath got a little better, but has never been good. At one point she gained 80 pounds ordering Uber Eats and Insta Cart. Apparently she didn't want to go outside so she needed food delivered. She wanted to self harm, but couldn't do it in normal ways since I would see and make her talk to her therapist about it. Instead she had incredibly greasey unhealthy food delivered to our house and would eat it to give herself a stomach ache. She spent over $10,000 over the course of a year doing this. I didn't notice because she said she wanted to feel like she contributed to the house by taking care of the finances. I trusted her to do that and never questioned her about it. (My fault, I know) She was also slightly underweight by about 5-10 pounds when we first got married and my mom was overweight and constantly told me to never question a woman gaining weight so I waited too long to start asking questions about that too.
Recently I was chaptered from the military. A very long story short, she started constantly attempting suicide and because I was busy taking care of her so much I was non-deployable for too long. They had to let me go. I lined up a job as a cop for when I got out, but ended up tearing my ACL in a motorcycle accident. That meant I needed to get it repaired and go through physical therapy before I could start the job. In the mean time I had to move back in with my mom and my wife had to move back in with her mom. (Niether house was large enough for both of us to live)
When it happened my wife was very upset, but didn't seem to give me much sympathy. More anger than anything. She started to act better when I called her on it though. Later she told me she didn't want to have sex since i had gained weigbt since the accident. Not being able to walk/ exercise and stress eating from all your plans on how to survive crumbling will do that to you. I've gained about 20 pounds in the last 2 months. Side note, she has never lost the weight and has even put more on. She is currently 50 pounds over the highest weight she should be for her height and age. I do have a belly, but I can still benchpress over 300 pounds and you can still see most of my muscles.
Today I got a letter from the VA saying that I would only be given 15 physical therapy appointments. The physical therapist had told me earlier that I would probably need at least 40. I went to the physical therapist to come up with a new plan since obviously the old one needed to change. When I talked to my wife about it, before I could even finish talking she got angry and said we couldn't afford it. She then said that I would need to do more Uber because her part time job couldn't cover it. I got angry that it seemed she only cared about how my issues affected her. After about a half hour fight she apologized and said that her mom is still abusive and that she is jealous that I get to live with a mom who isn't. (Her mom yells at her sometimes, but it's nothing compared to what her dad and step mother did though. Not saying it's good, but there's really nothing I can do right now. The only jobs I'm qualified for require me to be able bodied and I'm not right now. We started dating in highschool. After we graduated I worked dead end jobs trying to save up money for a few years to be able to move out, but never could.I joined the military to finally get away from my parents. My then girlfriend (now wife) and i had a long distance relationship for a few years with me coming down to visit around once a month on 4-day weekends while she went to college. I was lucky enough to get stationed within the millage radius.
She was living in a college dorm for the first few years and was close to graduating, but suddenly had to move out since her father decided not to cosign for her and made her move back in. The abuse got really bad. He had tracking on her car and would remotely make it honk when she went somewhere he didn't like. He wouldn't let her go anywhere besides work, school, or home. Her life was very bad. I told her that if we got married we could get a house on base and she could go to college here (the army would increase my pay to accommodatethis). At first she said no since she didn't want to be locked in with someone, but one day when I got home from a week in the field I turned on my phone and was greated by hundreds of texts and missed calls. She had packed a suit case with a few cloths, her birth certificate, and her SS card, and was living at my mom's house. (My parents divorced soon after i left and could only take their anger out on eachother. They became really chill once they were apart and even apologized for everything they put me through. It's not a perfect relationship, but it'sreally not part of this story so I'llskip it)
I came down with a 4-day weekend pass and we got married in the court house. She came up and we lived on post. The abuse was way worse than I originally thought. She refused to live anywhere except on posy because she wanted to be in a super secure area her father and step mother couldn't find her. She had panic attacks whenever she saw cars that looked like theirs. The first 6 months were the worst. She would cry herself to sleep every night. Every morning I would wake up to her quietly sobbing. I would go to work and when I came back she would still be quietly sobbing in the corner I left her in, yet somehow the house was trashed. I would cook food and beg her to eat it and drink water. She would reluctantly. Then she would cry herself to sleep and the process would begin again. I got her into therapy and signed her up for college. That seemed to help some, but she was still a mess.
Fast forward and we've been married for 7 years. She has never held a job sighting her mental health as the issue. It was fine since I was very good with money and could provide for both of us. Her mental heath got a little better, but has never been good. At one point she gained 80 pounds ordering Uber Eats and Insta Cart. Apparently she didn't want to go outside so she needed food delivered. She wanted to self harm, but couldn't do it in normal ways since I would see and make her talk to her therapist about it. Instead she had incredibly greasey unhealthy food delivered to our house and would eat it to give herself a stomach ache. She spent over $10,000 over the course of a year doing this. I didn't notice because she said she wanted to feel like she contributed to the house by taking care of the finances. I trusted her to do that and never questioned her about it. (My fault, I know) She was also slightly underweight by about 5-10 pounds when we first got married and my mom was overweight and constantly told me to never question a woman gaining weight so I waited too long to start asking questions about that too.
Recently I was chaptered from the military. A very long story short, she started constantly attempting suicide and because I was busy taking care of her so much I was non-deployable for too long. They had to let me go. I lined up a job as a cop for when I got out, but ended up tearing my ACL in a motorcycle accident. That meant I needed to get it repaired and go through physical therapy before I could start the job. In the mean time I had to move back in with my mom and my wife had to move back in with her mom. (Niether house was large enough for both of us to live)
When it happened my wife was very upset, but didn't seem to give me much sympathy. More anger than anything. She started to act better when I called her on it though. Later she told me she didn't want to have sex since i had gained weigbt since the accident. Not being able to walk/ exercise and stress eating from all your plans on how to survive crumbling will do that to you. I've gained about 20 pounds in the last 2 months. Side note, she has never lost the weight and has even put more on. She is currently 50 pounds over the highest weight she should be for her height and age. I do have a belly, but I can still benchpress over 300 pounds and you can still see most of my muscles.
Today I got a letter from the VA saying that I would only be given 15 physical therapy appointments. The physical therapist had told me earlier that I would probably need at least 40. I went to the physical therapist to come up with a new plan since obviously the old one needed to change. When I talked to my wife about it, before I could even finish talking she got angry and said we couldn't afford it. She then said that I would need to do more Uber because her part time job couldn't cover it. I got angry that it seemed she only cared about how my issues affected her. After about a half hour fight she apologized and said that her mom is still abusive and that she is jealous that I get to live with a mom who isn't. (Her mom yells at her sometimes, but it's nothing compared to what her dad and step mother did though. Not saying it's good, but there's really nothing I can do right now. Hey guys. So I started drum lessons in August of 2023 with a teacher who has been in a locally well known band for 30+ years. My dad and uncle grew up with him, so they got in touch with him for me, but he does lessons for dozens of other students as well.
For the first 6 months I was making really good progress. My lessons have been weekly since starting, with maybe just 3 missed weeks since then. I already know how to play piano and violin and have read music for 13 years, so it’s been a pretty smooth process picking up drums/been a pretty smooth process for him to teach me.
We used to work on the syncopation book every lesson. It would start out with me sitting at the practice pad and blasting out a couple pages of syncopation exercises and then he’d ask me to hop on the actual drum set and he’d teach me multiple new fills, or a new groove, or a new style and then send me home with it to practice for the week along with some syncopation exercises and then I’d come back and play it for him and we’d move onto something else.
Since January though, we haven’t touched the syncopation book even though I haven’t finished it.
I struggle with some health issues that cause me chronic halitosis too, and got the feeling it’s because he didn’t want to sit directly next to me while I counted aloud anymore because I’d always notice him react when I spoke (though he always asked me to count aloud) so I stopped counting aloud when we worked on the syncopation book and maybe that bothered him and made him think I was disinterested in working on it. But he also made a comment one time telling me to brush my teeth with my left hand so I can work on building strength and coordination in my non-dominant hand. That actually stung quite a bit cuz it kinda seemed like he was making a joke about the fact he must think I don’t actually brush my teeth. (but if you read my other posts on my profile you’ll understand the extent to which I’ve been struggling with this issue.)
He also hasn’t ever really taught me anything about technique/never makes corrections on it so I worry I’m developing and have already developed some pretty bad habits. The most he’s really taught me about technique is only how to hold the drum sticks properly and to strengthen up my non-dominant hand.
Besides that, since the middle of March, we’ve been working on the exact same latin beat every single lesson. I’m being serious when I say that’s all the lessons have consisted of for the past 2 and a half months.
I get there, he immediately tells me to get on the drumset (when he used to have me start on the practice pad and syncopation) and I play the same 4 bars, same 4 fills over and over with him for 30 minutes. Which is something that he would have sent me home with for a week, and then moved onto to teaching me something new just 4 months ago. I know it by heart at this point. I could play it in my sleep.
After about a month of of the exact same lesson over and over, I started to get the inkling that maybe this is his way of firing me as a student without making it awkward. In my head it started to feel like he’s trying to get me so bored of doing the same thing over and over to the point he expects me to just give up and never return for another lesson, at least not with him.
I haven’t said anything to him about it, nor ever made a fuss during lessons and just kept going along with it expecting to see some progress sooner or later, or expecting that we’d move onto something else soon. I’ve never been anything except cordial and respectful to him, as I don’t want to push his boundaries (or anyone’s for that matter!) and I am grateful for the experience he has. I’ve even gone out and supported a few of his shows since starting lessons with him.
He’s also the only local drum teacher within 40 miles of me so I kinda got lucky with him.
But it’s now been another month and half of the exact same lesson and I’ve spent ≈ $200 in the past 2 months and haven’t made any comparable progress to what I used to before something changed.
So I reached out to him through text to set up my next lesson, as that’s how we’ve ALWAYS coordinated lesson times. But I actually got a message immediately after attempting to send mine from his carrier that said “FREE Msg - Unable to send MSG - MSG blocking is active.”
My heart honestly sank to my toes. The sense that he was firing me my last few lessons got so strong and then this was like a kick in the gut. Did he block my number from texting him!?
So I called him (like a crazy ex 🤦♀️😂) just to see if it’d even go through. And it did. When he answered it almost sounded like he was flustered. Like he wasn’t expecting me to have actually called or he wasn’t expecting the call to be able to go through. I told him I’d like to set up my next lesson and that I tried to text him but it wasn’t going through for some reason, I also apologized if the call was a bother at all!
He said it was okay and that he’d get back in touch with me within a half hour. He never did.
I’m too scared to reach back out myself because it feels like he doesn’t even want me to. So I think that’s it, huh?
I’m fired as a student aren’t I?
I’m actually so sad. Drums are the instrument I’ve had the most natural, fun process learning. I never got to make the progress I expected or have the chance to learn everything I wanted to. He just gave up on me, and I didn’t even give up on myself this time man. 🥲 Let me go put my entire set up on Facebook marketplace and do that now.
He’s probably sitting there like “MAN! Why won’t this chick give up and leave me alone! She’s been wasting her money for months!” 😭😭

- He mentioned that new president is very pro EV. Past two years subsidies to ICE scooters has impacted EV adoption in Taiwan.
- Horace is very positive about new scooters and Taiwan potential. They are targeting 10% market share in scooters (they would be comfortable with that adoption rate).
- China update: they are working hard with Yadi to reduce costs of battery swapping stations, batteries etc. B2B is working. Initial cost basis was still too high for B2C. Work continues. [My opinion: with India local production they can reduce the manufacturing costs up to 30% and it should help a lot.]
- They need to be innovative in generating added value to riders to ensure stickiness of their userbase. For example Gogoro Rewards Points is a good initiative.
- Hero Motocorp is focused on B2C. It's easier to provide users charging option as they are more used to that at this point when EV adoption is just getting started in the country. Gogoro is focusing in B2B at the moment. That's one of the reasons why we haven't seen progress in that partnership.
- Delay in India expansion can be seen as a speed bump.
- Focus in 2- and 3-wheelers. Not excluding the idea of launching 4-wheelers (golfcart size) in the future (never say never).
- Profitability expected in 2026-2027. Before they listed in Nasdaq Gogoro was slightly profitable. Listing expenses etc. added costs and they need to grow to fulfill the gap to get back to that situation.
- It will take years to expand internationally. It takes time and they are just getting started. In Taiwan it took 10 years to get where we are today. It remains to be seen how much they can shrink the adoption time (is it for example 3 or 5 years). It's important to keep focus also in Taiwan to finetune the business model and increase userbase.
- He is very positive about the Philippines potential.
- Battery issues in Taiwan concerned small number of users. It's also good to keep in mind that they are still a startup and it's normal to phase issues because those are learning points and by solving those issues they will be able to become more effective.
- Message to Elon Musk: "2-wheelers are important too". In crowded cities in APAC and South America people can't easily afford to buy 4-wheeler.
- Three learning points: focus on defining value system (win-win to all parties), government co-operation (we are not a threat but a partner), need for localization (execution) is not easy so don't be over optimistic.
- Horace advice to himself to the past: don't under estimate how much effort it takes to make this work.

I am about to purchase the Nuki smart locks (they are the ones that I have had my eyes set on for a while) and was considering the Nuki opener as well in order to handle my intercom (also since I am getting Nuki products already)
Before adding the Opener to my cart, I had a few questions, maybe some of you can help me :)
- In terms of ecosystems, since I'll be handling everything from HA anyways, does it make sense to purchase the Nuki opener just because I get the smart locks ?
- Ring intercom seems more complete, with 2 way audio handling through the app. But where is the HA integration at ? Found lots of threads in HA forum where it said that Ring intercom wasn't working properly yet on HA, has that changed ? If so, does it also allow to pass through the audio without the need for the app ? (using some tweaking on HA maybe)
- Does using one or the other of those intercom devices prevent me from still using the actual physical intercom if needed ? (I have the video feed I would like to still be able to see my guests when I'm home and open the street door without using my phone or my HA dashboard) ==> does the intercom still work or changing the wiring makes it so that only the new installed device is catching the ringtone signal, rendering the physical intercom useless ?
- In general, do any of you have insights on which of the two is better ? (since I'm getting the non-pro Nuki smart lock, i'll be needing the Nuki bridge, but I didn't find any info on wether the Ring intercom also requires a bridge, which might influence my choice)
- Last, but definitely not least : My physical intercom handles not only the building intercom (when someone rings from the street) but also my appartment doorbell. It produces two distinct ringtones (both coming from the intercom) depending on wether someone rings at the building entrance (in which case I can open obviously) or rings at the appartment door (in which case it acts as a simple doorbell to produce the ringtone) ==> will I be able to catch both ringtones (and differentiate them) with one of those products (or both) ? Will I be able to know when I'm not home wether someone is at the building door or standing in front of my appartment door ?

If you store in a water tight/air tight safe, I would use a good quantity of Silica Gel-Dehumidifying Crystals. Non air tight, not really necessary. Skin oil and sulfur-containing substances in the air will cause tarnish. A simple wipe with a clean cloth will prevent most of it. Rubber bands and certain kinds of plastic will stain. 15 year stacker and never cleaned anything. Still looking good. Unless you are going to have them professionally graded to try to find high MS coins, enjoy them, fondle them, roll around on them.

The gold (coins, bullion and gold certificates) was only "confiscated" if the owner chose to declare it and turn it in or if it was of a known/registered type of holding that could not be denied or hidden. Collectibles, numismatics and jewelry were exempt. An owner could chose to defy the law and just sit on his stash and wait for the law to be changed in 1974. Granted, a long wait. As long as you have not made any cash or cash equivalent purchases of $10,000 or more in a single purchase or closely spaced purchases then your purchase history is private and unreported. Good general rule.......Don't advertise your holdings. Protects from regular crooks and Fed crooks.
