2024.05.20 09:55 In_The_Beenining Does anyone have pets I have a question: do your pets ever itch non stop and or get red skin and body heats up, just by being around someone that uses meth?

I've noticed my cat do all the following itch, red skin and body heats. I've came to the conclusion that its because its around someoe who used meth it started happening when the person stayed with us for 2 months. Its an indoor cat so i took him to the vet and they said hes flealess and said they will need to do blood work. So today i stopped by a buddy's how's today who uses and his little dog had red skin so I asked if it scratches himself non stop and heats up, he's like dude yes how'd you know. So I told him he's like now I never dropped any or did it around him I said it happens just by being around someone that does it maybe gets off your hands. He was in denial so he literally called 2 random buddies that use too who have pets and asked each one and both said yes acting surprised how he knew. We first thought maybe just allergies but his 2 friends live in different states so it's not likely maybe if we were all in the same state. I'm almost certain it's from being around people who use. To be honest whenever my buddy gets in the car I start to itch and he's not a dirty person at all, I think it's something invisible that flows out the body. I used to have a buddy that used and he use to show me after he did meth he would hold hold a q-tip and I swear it's like something invisible flowed from his hands because the fuzz on the end of the q-tip stared to move and strands would stick out, I shit you not! He said when he smokes it makes his cigarette taste like complete ass and the ash will look and fall different. I think there is a spiritual aspect to this drug there is something dark about that shit.
Anyone experience this with your pets?

2024.05.20 09:55 alv_23 Help me complete self defense tips

Hello everyone, I'm trying to complete some defense tips for the women at my family and friends as in my country (european one) sexual assaults to young women have raised a lot during the last 2 years.
I have separated the tips in two cathegories. The first one aims to help improve home security to avoid assaults at home. the second one tries to tackle street insecurity. Some of them are maybe too much, but want an as much complete list as possible). I have not included carrying a gun as in europe is not permited.
Home Security:
  1. Install an Alarm System: Connect it to the police, with vibration and door opening detectors, and volumetric detectors with glass break detection in the rooms.
  2. Perimeter Protection: This is important as it will give you response time and likely prevent intrusion into the house. Install motion-activated lights around the perimeter that illuminate the garden, leaving no dark spots.
  3. Perimeter Surveillance: Install volumetric detectors with cameras or security cameras around the perimeter. Ensure the footage is stored in a secure cloud or on a secure video recorder (in at least a grade 1 safe or a panic room).
  4. Panic Room: Install a panic room or designate an area for this purpose (such as the bedroom area) by installing an armored door and reinforcing the walls if they are made of wood (with brick/concrete/steel plates).
  5. High-Quality Locks: Install quality locks and cylinders with protective shields, and use armored or, preferably, reinforced doors.
  6. Backup Power: If you live in an isolated house or in a residential area, install a generator (protected if possible or in a difficult-to-access area to prevent sabotage) using fuel or batteries with some autonomy to avoid sabotage through electricity cuts.
  7. Guard Dog: If possible, have a dog.
  8. Firearms License: Getting a sports shooting license is relatively easy.
  9. Satellite Messenger: If you live in an isolated house, consider acquiring a satellite messenger with an SOS function (such as Garmin InReach, SPOT, etc.) or a satellite phone (which costs less than an iPhone). This way, if someone uses jammers to try to enter your house, you will still have a means of communication with the authorities.
  10. Lock Your Doors: When you are at home, lock the door with the key.
  11. Mailbox Anonymity: Do not put your name on the mailbox.
Safety Tips:
  1. Urban Area Vigilance: If you live in an urban area, it's a good idea to take a ride around the block before entering the parking lot to see if someone is following you or if you notice anything unusual.
  2. Parking Precaution: When approaching your parking garage, leave enough distance between your car and the entrance so that you can maneuver in case another car tries to block you from behind and trap you in an attempt to assault you.
  3. Carry Pepper Spray: In Europe, this is the best option. Carry it in an accessible place or even in your hand in dangerous areas like a parking lot or when walking home alone at night. Recommended brands in Europe include Sabre Red.
  4. Carry a Flashlight: This is a good idea to illuminate dark places (there are cheap options like Sofirn or Convoy flashlights that can be easily bought on AliExpress). If possible, choose a model with 1000 lumens or more. Options like the Convoy S2+ are inexpensive and compact.
  5. Stay Alert (situational awareness): Be attentive to potential dangers. If you see anything suspicious, distance yourself from the potential threat.
  6. Share Your Location: If you are walking alone, it's a good idea to share your location with someone you trust using apps like 'Find My' from Apple (similar options are available for Android). This way, if something happens, someone will know where you are. Inform someone approximately when you will return home and your route. I personally do this with my girlfriend when she goes out with friends and is coming home.
  7. Make Noise if Needed: Shout and make noise if necessary. Many people are afraid to shout, but it can attract attention and save your life or prevent an assault.
Any feedback will be appreciated.

2024.05.20 09:55 EmbarrassedWalk5798 How to retrain my body to be active? And go on hikes again?

I'm finally coming out of a 2 year pain flare up. Im 19. That's not saying I'm not in pain anymore, I'm still in a lot of pain, it's just not bed rest pain anymore. Ive been going on short walks with my fiancé and im doing really good, some muscle weakness and pain but I'm able to do it without much trouble.
Hiking though? Completely different situation. I wanted to go on a short hike with my friends. I thought it would be just a bit more difficult, but it was so much harder than I thought. I fell over and started crying and they had to drive me home... Ive been trying to re-integrate myself back into the friend group and I feel like i took so many steps backwards.
I've done some light workouts with my fiancé and im pretty much fine. Something about the incline just completely wrecks my body. My legs felt like jello just a minute into the hike disaster and I was worried but still hopeful. And then my legs were just so weak and couldn't hold my body, which is why I fell. Ive done some light workouts with my legs and they are still pretty strong. I just don't know what the matter is.
I have POTS and I know that's playing a part. But I'm pretty sure the main culprit is fibromyalgia. How can I make my legs... not like jello? I'm going on a trip at the end of August to Puerto Rico and the plan is a bunch of hikes and time at the beach. I already said that I won't be able to go on every adventure and everyone was fine with that. But at the moment I don't think I could do a single hike!!
I'm really really hoping that someone has some tips or ideas for me. I just don't know what to do anymore, nothing I'm doing seems to be helping. I feel so hopeless and it's really impacting my mental health. I know I'll never be like I used to be, but I can't be stuck like this forever right? right? I feel so down and hopeless, I just want to get back even a fraction of what I used to be capable of.

2024.05.20 09:55 adulting4kids Figures of Speech

24. Understatement:
In a pivotal moment of your story, describe a significant event with deliberate understatement. For instance, narrate a character's encounter with a mythical creature as if it were merely a routine disturbance. Explore the impact of this subtle approach on the reader's perception and the unfolding plot.
25. Cliché:
Challenge the notion of clichés by incorporating them intentionally into your narrative. Develop a storyline where characters knowingly navigate situations reminiscent of common tropes, and explore how they either conform to or subvert the expected outcomes associated with these familiar elements.
26. Anthropomorphism:
Bring an inanimate object or natural element to life by assigning it human-like qualities. Explore the world from the perspective of this anthropomorphized entity, uncovering its thoughts, emotions, and interactions within the larger context of your story.
27. Symbolism:
Craft a scene where a specific object or element becomes a powerful symbol within your story. Explore the deeper meaning and significance attached to this symbol, delving into how it shapes the characters' beliefs, actions, or the overall trajectory of the narrative.
28. Paronomasia:
Introduce wordplay into a conversation between characters, where the clever use of similar-sounding words or phrases serves as a catalyst for an unexpected turn of events. Develop a scenario where linguistic wit becomes a driving force in the unfolding plot.

2024.05.20 09:52 Pawsy_Bear IndieVelo update

AppleTV. indieVelo is now available as an AppleTV app (as well as via screen mirroring from an iPhone / iPad). This is easily the single most requested improvement to indieVelo, and a giant step forward for it now to be live. As mentioned previously, initially it will only be available to members of the indieVelo Founders Club.
indieVelo now runs on all major platforms used by the online cycling community; Windows PC, Apple Mac, Android, ChromeOS, iPhone, iPad and AppleTV. Over the coming weeks and months, my focus will therefore now return to the core of indieVelo's purpose - innovating and transforming the new technology needed to define the future of virtual sport.
Ride Physics. Riding on indieVelo now feels even more like riding a real bike. For indoor racing to be a success it needs to be about more than just who can produce the most watts. It is the tactical choices available to, and decision making by, athletes that makes any sport interesting and engaging to both watch and participate in.
indieVelo's existing world leading physics engine that already takes into account features such as wind, positioning, drafting, collisions, cornering, braking and racing lines to provide genuine tactical interest to racing, has been extended further. indieVelo now also uses advanced bicycle physics such as rotating wheel mass, gear ratios, momentum and inertia.
As a natural consequence of the more advanced physics model, a wide range of the tactical choices we all make when riding outdoors now also apply indoors. To take just one example, whether to mash the pedals in a high gear, or spin lightly at a high cadence, now automatically has exactly the same consequences indoors as outdoors...for better or for worse. Choose wisely!

2024.05.20 09:52 Intelligent_Depth717 I feel so deceived and blindsided. The guy I've been talking to blocked me out of nowhere.

I know this happens to many people using the app, but allow me to vent.
To give context: I've only started using Bumble this year. All the men I've been with or met have been through friends, family, or in person — never through the internet. I matched with this guy on Bumble in late March. After a few messages on the app, we exchanged numbers and hit it off quickly via text. We even had a phone call early on to gauge each other's vibe. Our text banter was great, and we kept our topics light. Due to conflicting schedules, we didn't set a date to see each other until six weeks later.
When we finally met, we had dinner, drinks, went back to his place, and ended up having sex. From my perspective, the chemistry and attraction were strong. We had a lot of fun — laughing, bantering, and discussing serious topics occasionally (though less than I would have liked). I stayed the night, and we said our goodbyes the next morning. We continued texting each other (less frequently and sporadically) for almost a month, and I was waiting for him to initiate a second date. And yes, at this point I've already noticed the huge shift in communication after our date.
During our texting, he kept hinting that he wanted to see me and asked for lingerie photos. I declined because I didn't fully trust him yet, and sending photos like that isn't my style unless I'm in an exclusive relationship. That was our last conversation.
Five days later, I reached out to check in on him and noticed that my message only had one tick, indicating it wasn't delivered. This was unusual, as my messages to him usually showed as delivered. After a bit of experimentation, I confirmed that he had blocked me.
For the record, I'm not looking for anything serious; I just want to have a good time. You could say I got what's coming for me, but I'm so annoyed (and hurt) at the fact that he made me open up, pursued me, acted like he cared, and liked me as a person, only to block me after getting what he wanted. I would have understood more if he had sent me a message saying he didn't want to continue, instead of ghosting me like this. Also, I knew he was seeing other girls the whole time, and I was okay with that — that's how dating goes, after all.
I'll be okay eventually and will continue dating around (definitely not sleeping around). I just need more practice, lol, but I'll take this as a lesson and be more cautious moving forward. If you've read this far, thank you for listening, and I wish you a colorful dating life.

2024.05.20 09:50 NevadoDelRuiz Hell's Kitchen X Blue Archive: Episode 17 (Finale)

Finally, it's done...
Ep17 Finale
Black Jackets:
  1. Fuuka
  2. Mika
  3. Iroha
  4. Azusa (eliminated)
  5. Reisa (eliminated)
  6. Kisaki (eliminated)
This is the last episode of Hell's Kitchen X Blue Archive, thanks for following my story.
In the dorms, they have a bit of discussion on what do they think of each other. In their discussion, there is a common theme, which is who is going to win. While Fuuka thinks Mika is going to win, the rest thinks that Fuuka will because of experience. Iroha was on her last legs, or arm and in the competition, she suffered way too much. Even Ramsay was concerned about it, because one time she fainted after service, and almost does it again in the black jackets. Fuuka asked if she is using her dominant arm, and it turns out, that the dominant arm was the injured one. This, was way more impressive that she managed to move fast on that.
On the final challenge, they will have to plan 5 dishes: one hot appetizer, one cold appetizer, one meat entree, one fish entree, and a dessert. In order to help them, the sous chefs will together help them come up with their dishes. But since there are only two sous chefs, he invited a third chef, which is Nick, the 3rd placer on S17. He would become the next sous chef after Jay. But the first thing he should do is to assist the final three.
So this thing is randomised, so while Fuuka got Christina, Mika got Jason, and Iroha got Nick, and all three discussed on what to make.
And after discussing, they decided to travel around Kivotos, just to have fun before the final service.
And then all of the sudden, they went into the stage, and then the crowd is introduced to the final three of Hell's Kitchen. Here they will present their dishes in front of the crowd. So when the time starts, they all start cooking. With the help of their chefs they picked, they will finish their cooking faster.
After 45 minutes, they finished all of their dishes, and they will present it to the judges.
The first one is the hot appetizers, and the judge would be Luca Manfe, the winner of MasterChef S4.
Iroha decided to cook a fish pasta with pesto sauce, Fuuka decided to do her iconic stew that she made during lunch, and Mika decided to make roasted shrimp skewers.
Scores:
Iroha: 8 Fuuka: 10 Mika: 7
The second one is the cold appetisers, and the judge would be Alvin Leung, the judge of MasterChef Canada.
Fuuka decided to make her own version of Ceasar salad, where she adds some new ingredients, Iroha decided to make Ceviche out of salmon, and Mika tried to do a potato salad.
Scores:
Iroha: 17 Fuuka: 20 Mika: 16
The third one is the meat entree, and the judge would be Wolfgang Puck, a close friend of Gordon Ramsay, who has a lot of Michelin stars.
Mika decided to make beef steak with sauce, Fuuka grilled porkchop with some bit of a salad, and Iroha tries to fry some turkey.
Scores:
Iroha: 26 Fuuka: 29 Mika: 25
The fourth is the fish entree, and Uncle Roger will be the judge.
Iroha tries to make an oven baked dory, Fuuka tries to make a grilled halibut with scallops and corn salad, and Mika makes Fish and Chips.
Scores:
Iroha: 36 Fuuka: 38 Mika: 35
The last would be the desserts, and the judge will be David Jorge, the winner of MasterChef S2.
Here Fuuka decided to make a cinnamon flan with sugar cage, Mika decided to make a orange cake roll, and Iroha decided to grill a fruit, again, but this time it is a dessert instead of an entree.
Scores:
Iroha: 46 Fuuka: 47 Mika: 45
In conclusion, Iroha and Fuuka will be going to the finals, and as for Mika, she is the last boot, and as for the other two, they will decide on who to join the brigade. Iroha, immediately went for Mika as she is the closest on her team...
And then the rest of the former contestants came, and they are the last 9 eliminated contestants. They decided to choose on who to place on the brigade.
Here are the teams:
Iroha: - Mika - Azusa - Makoto - Hifumi - Hoshino
Fuuka: - Reisa - Izuna - Hina - Kisaki - Kotori
After this, they will have to prepare for their most important dinner service. They will be the one who will create their own menu to be served on their teams.
So in the menu creation process, they decided to plan on what to put in the menu. Both of them decided to have a menu that they can handle in terms of how well they would do in the stations.
And a day later, the finalist met up with Gordon Ramsay, and they will receive their head chef jackets, and they will prepped together for the dinner service.
Few hours later...
The dinner service starts, and the final two will keep an eye on their respective kitchens. They will keep a close look on their dishes and will try to spot their mistakes. Fuuka has the advantage on spotting errors, and then Iroha has the advantage on her leadership.
They both did well in terms of running in the kitchen, but the chefs still made some mistakes. Instead of Ramsay telling that they made a mistake, the final two decided to tell them instead. It kept them motivated and because of a proper assigning of stations, they didn't need to eject someone from the kitchen.
Then Iroha found an incorrect ticket, and told the Maitre'd about the errors and it was corrected immediately. Fuuka found the same thing.
At the end, they managed to have a clean dinner service, and then they have to wait for the results.
While they are waiting for the results at the dorms, Gordon Ramsay decided to collect all of the results from their runs in Hell's Kitchen, and what they managed to do in the competition.
The decision, was difficult, because there is one chef who is consistent, which is Fuuka, and the other chef is exponentially growing fast, which is Iroha. They also have to do it while they suffer injuries in a certain degree.
After some hours, Iroha and Fuuka is called in the office and they met Ramsay.
Ramsay talks to them on how far they have been in the competition. He tells that making a decision on who to win is difficult. He decided to announce in advance they they are both winners, but one of them can open the door.
And then outside the office, a crowd is waiting. The contestants, and their loved ones, watching whoever is in those doors.
And back at the office, Iroha and Fuuka hold those door handles, and only one of them would open. Before the count to three, Fuuka and Iroha talk to them one more time, saying it doesn't matter who would win because they are both winners at the end. Fuuka rebutted that whoever opens the door, we would still be a good sport.
On a count to three, it was nerve-racking moment, because they don't know whose door is going to open.
One, two, three... They grab the door handles, and twist it open.
Iroha, had the door opened. She has won Hell's Kitchen.
Everyone was shocked, and then cheer for it. Fuuka followed he behind, with Ramsay saying you are still a winner in the show and should not quit on what she is doing.
Winner's interview: Iroha
"Finally, after an immense pain and suffering, I did it! I won Hell's Kitchen! I dedicated it to Gehanna, my friends, and my parents for winning!"
Winners quote:
"Iroha and Fuuka have different journeys, there is the one who grew exponentially, and the one who is consistently good. They both have to suffer from their teammates, and their physical hinderance. One of them edges a bit more. Iroha starts of with some little awareness in the kitchen, but as the time passes, she founds out her leadership is what she needs to run the kitchen, despite with only one weaker arm, and she learned a lot on her journey, making friends along the way, growing stronger very quickly every after service. This is what I need to become my next head chef in BLT Steak."

2024.05.20 09:46 Dr_JJason Can you use fermented ingredients while treating fungal acne?

Hey everyone! Fermented ingredients have gained popularity in Korean skincare for their benefits in promoting a healthy skin barrier and delivering potent antioxidants. However, they can be problematic for those of us dealing with fungal acne. Why fermented ingredients can trigger fungal acne? Let’s dive in…

What is Fungal Acne?

Fungal acne, or Malassezia folliculitis, is caused by an overgrowth of yeast called Malassezia on the skin. This condition often appears as small, itchy bumps and can be mistaken for bacterial acne. Managing fungal acne requires avoiding ingredients that feed Malassezia and exacerbate the condition.

Why Fermented Ingredients Can Trigger Fungal Acne

  1. Yeast and By-Products:
    • Fermented ingredients are commonly created using yeast or bacteria to break down substances, which can leave behind yeast by-products. These by-products can potentially feed Malassezia, leading to an overgrowth and triggering fungal acne flare-ups.
  2. Fatty Acids:
    • Some fermented ingredients release antioxidants such as vitamin E and peptides that can help rejuvenate and nurture your skin. However, some ingredients also release fatty acids, which are known to feed Malassezia. Ingredients like fermented rice water, soy, and certain fermented oils can provide the perfect environment for Malassezia to thrive.
  3. Complex Formulations:
    • Fermented skincare products often have complex formulations that include additional ingredients, such as emollients and oils, which might not be fungal acne-safe. Even if the primary fermented ingredient is beneficial, the overall product composition can still trigger fungal acne.
  4. pH Levels:
    • Fermented products can have varying pH levels, and an imbalance can disrupt the already weakened skin barrier, making it more susceptible to fungal overgrowth. Maintaining the skin's natural pH is crucial for keeping fungal acne under control.

Common Fermented Ingredients to Watch Out For

  1. Fermented Rice Water: Often used for its brightening properties, but it can contain fatty acids that feed Malassezia.
  2. Fermented Soy: Found in some anti-aging products, it may also have components that promote fungal growth.
  3. Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate: Popular for its hydrating and brightening effects, but the fermentation process may leave behind yeast by-products.
  4. Saccharomyces Ferment: Used in various serums and essences, but similar to galactomyces, it may not be suitable for fungal acne-prone skin.

Tips for Using Skincare Products with Fungal Acne

  1. Check Ingredient Lists: Avoid products with known triggers like fermented ingredients, heavy oils, and fatty acids.
  2. Opt for Fungal Acne-Safe Alternatives: Look for products specifically formulated for fungal acne-prone skin, such as those with non-comedogenic and anti-fungal ingredients.
  3. Patch Test New Products: Always perform a patch test when introducing new products to see how your skin reacts before applying them to larger areas.
  4. Consult a Dermatologist: If you're unsure about certain ingredients or products, consult with a dermatologist who can provide personalized recommendations based on your skin's needs.
By understanding why fermented ingredients can trigger fungal acne, you can make more informed choices about your skincare routine.

2024.05.20 09:45 Mwrp86 Yesterday I watched Hereditary (2018) and Wow

Watched Hereditary (2018) and wow
I just watched Hereditary (2018) just yesterday and Wow.
"Hereditary" (2018) could have been an exceptional subversion of the horror genre if the director had fully committed to that angle. It might have been one of the best ever. I went in expecting a horror movie but found myself immersed in a deep family drama that felt incredibly realistic.
The mother, though seemingly well-intentioned, is deeply flawed. She shows blatant favoritism toward her children and openly badmouths her mother at her funeral. Throughout the movie, she never admits to any wrongdoing. Subconsciously, she even wanted to kill her son because she never wanted him in the first place. The father, a therapist (which I figured out later through research), tries to hold his already crumbling family together. The son is traumatized by an incident, and his mother's increasing aggression and insanity only make things worse for him. It's great stuff.
Then there's the psychological thriller aspect. The movie hints at a family history of mental health problems, with the protagonist herself being somewhat unstable and slowly going insane. Despite witnessing supernatural events (like the scene with the glass) and the hints throughout the movie, I almost convinced myself it was purely a psychological thriller.
The shocking horror factor kicks in during the last thirty minutes. The movie's slow and steady pace gives way to a completely insane finale. Naked old people smiling, the mother decapitating herself—it was all so intense and gave me chills.
"Hereditary" is definitely a movie to watch twice. The first viewing is for the experience, and the second is for understanding it better. Many things made much more sense after the first viewing.
However, it would have been great if they removed all the horror elements. Imagine starting with a tough family drama: a disturbed mother, her unwanted son, and a father trying to keep the family together while losing himself in the process. Then, it transitions into a psychological thriller, with the mother slowly going insane. Only she sees the ghosts, but it's clear she orchestrated it all. The audience and family know it, and then—boom—it turns out to be real all along. It could have been three different movies, and I would have been down for all of them.
I can't say anything that hasn't already been said, but I want to emphasize how the protagonist is portrayed:
  1. She is almost self-centered, always focused on her agenda.
  2. She almost kills her son and daughter with paint thinner but talks about it casually.
  3. She deeply regrets having her son and even expresses in her dream that she didn't want him.
  4. She uses her son to contact her daughter but never shows genuine empathy for him.
  5. She shows no empathy toward her husband either. He was her psychologist, and it’s implied she was forced into the relationship and into keeping the child. The father isn't as pure as he seems.
  6. When she convinces her husband to throw the book into the fire and repeatedly says "I love you," it's clear she is willing to sacrifice him too.
So, while we might feel some empathy for her, she is a pretty terrible mother. Given her past, it's not surprising at all.

2024.05.20 09:43 wayward_hufflepuff Legal notice from vodafone

I am receiving bills and now a legal notice for a postpaid number I no longer use.
I had a postpaid number from vodafone for about 5 years, which was part of a family plan with 5 numbers altogether. My sister-in-law got the pack from her office, not sure why or how. Only two out of those were being used, mine and my husband's. My husband got a new phone and number a couple of years ago and he would occasionally turn on the old phone with the number that was linked to mine but mostly he wasn’t using it. Only i was actively using my number. We got bill of about Rs.1090 each month. We kept meaning to change to prepaid but somehow never got around to it.
Now, I paid the latest bill in January 2024 and then in the middle of Jan i left india. I am going to stay abroad for at least one year. Two or three days before i left india, i called vodafone customer service and asked for the procedure to change to prepaid. The lady i spoke to said that i should first unlink my number from the other one in the plan, but for that i need to send an sms from the other number. I told her we no longer use that number and she said that was the only way.
I asked if i could put my number on hold, as in cancel the service for six months or a year and then resume it when i came back to india. There was a fee for that, which i was okay with. But she said to do that also, i'll first need to unlink the numbers. I asked to cancel my number altogether, but for that too i had to unlink the two numbers. I gave up and just left the country.
Now i haven't used the number for four months. I have been receiving the bill each month, and i emailed to an id that was in the bill and explained the situation and someone replied and said i should go into a store and cancel. I told him i was abroad and he didn't reply. Now I've received a legal notice to pay the bill, and the notice also says i haven't responded to their messages, which is untrue.
What should i do?

2024.05.20 09:40 Mithix Prints used to be perfect, now I'm getting a lot of fails

Prints used to be perfect, now I'm getting a lot of fails
I've tried replacing the FEP, adding a thicker raft (up to 1mm once), increasing exposure time (to the detriment of quality), slowing down the raise/lower speed, recalibrating (cones of calibration), releveling, and several other things. Here are a few pictures to show the fails, but I dont know what else could be the culprit. I've been printing solidly using the Elegoo 8k space grey resin, but recently (printing a couple of things a day for a week) my prints have had support issues.
I'm using a presupported lys file, maybe the supports on that are weird, but its not the only artist's files that are having these issues. Check out the side by side pictures of the fails compared to the lychee files below. Its strange that the supports that DO fail never make it off the raft.
Any ideas/insight?

2024.05.20 09:40 forever_in_anguish I (32m) think I've made my mind up

Tldr: 32m realize my 27f ex was terrible to me. Hoping she will have some semblance of integrity has been foolish.
In this relationship you were dishonest, a cheater, abusive, manipulative, spiteful, and used an unborn child as leverage to keep me in this toxic relationship. You failed to mention the two big stds you had as well. I tried to leave bedore and you restrained me threw shit at the wall. You go crazy and taze yourself and i stick through it all. You then get a restraining order on me because I told you I'd take you to court for not letting me be on the birth certificate. The judge knew what you were up to and threw it out. You didn't like the judges answer so you and that horrid person you call a friend tried to screw me over saying I violated it by contact. You had me arrested and now I'm fighting for my freedom and out 3000 dollars and could face 3 years in jail and my diversion be revoked. All for what? Keep lying to yourself but you know what you are and what you have done and in the end we all have to pay for our sins. You once told me your biggest fear was Jesus saying he doesn't know you. There is so much more you have done to me and frankly I'm just tired of this. 3 months and not a word about the pregnancy knowing how much it hurts me. Seriously I tried my best to right my wrongs but you haven't done shit but play victim. I want out. There's no coming back from this. I've been done bad by a lot of people but this is a new level of evil. I've seen more spine in jellyfish. A coward who ghosts knowing full well because of their own guilt. I've tried my best to understand wtf is going on but you can't make sense out of nonsense. Everything I've done was reactionary and never was abusive. Obsessive maybe. But i kept finding out all the lies and it became my focus which I hate myself for. Such a waste of time. I know you have moved on and could care less but I've given enough of myself for literally nothing. I thought so much of you. This wasn't who I fell in love with. The worst part of it all is that I'd rather lie and tell myself it was me and that I was the problem just so I don't despise you. I don't despise you though honey. I just feel sorry for how damaged you are. You know right from wrong. I want you to be happy but it will never be at the expense of my own self worth ever again. Please get help and if this child is mine I will be a part of their life.

2024.05.20 09:40 Qu33fyElbowDrop Question regarding patchwork cardigan

Im trying to make my first patchwork cardigan and the colors are (5 colors) dark gray - white. I’ve grown to have a problem with not being able to visualize certain things or get a feel for it until i see it fully. even my first crop top i just finished looked funny to me until the VERY end. anyways, I don’t have the art supplies to accurately draw the diagram and color them how i would need to, ive tried using markup on my camera roll but those colors aren’t an accurate representation of the colors and shades either. im wondering how else to do this? maybe theres a trick with turning them into (ios) stickers in my camera roll that can be edited into the squares or a website that could help. something. anything. i am only working with ios.

2024.05.20 09:39 a4fertility What should LH levels be during IVF?

If you're going through in vitro fertilization (IVF), you'll hear a lot about hormones. One of the most important is LH, or luteinizing hormone. But what exactly should your LH levels be? Let's break it down.
Why LH Matters in IVF
LH isn't just another hormone. It plays a big role in getting your body ready for IVF. Here's the lowdown:
The right LH levels
Knowing what "normal" is can be confusing, especially because it changes depending on where you are in your IVF cycle.
What if LH is too high?
If your LH gets too high before it's supposed to, it can be a sign of:
Your doctor will keep a close eye on your LH levels and adjust your medications if needed to keep everything on track.
What if LH is too low?
Very low LH isn't common, but it can sometimes happen. This might mean:
If your LH is low, your doctor might recommend extra LH medication to help your eggs grow properly.
Your doctor knows best.
Remember, there isn't one perfect LH level for everyone during IVF. It varies depending on your age, your body, and your specific treatment plan. Your fertility doctor is the best person to guide you and interpret your lab results.
The Big Picture
While LH levels are important, they're just one piece of the IVF puzzle. Your doctor will also monitor other hormones, your follicles (the sacs that hold your eggs), and the thickness of your uterine lining. All of these factors work together to increase your chances of a successful pregnancy.
Keep calm and carry on.
IVF can feel overwhelming, but try to take it one step at a time. Trust your doctor, ask questions, and focus on taking care of yourself. With the right support and treatment, you'll be well on your way to starting your family.

2024.05.20 09:38 sarahgez my first loaf of bread ever!

my first loaf of bread ever!
i recently re-read "flour, water, salt, yeast" and got the motivation to get myself up and make a loaf of the saturday (white) bread! this was my first ever “real” bread that wasn’t soft on the outside as well as the inside, so i got excited and started way too late at night. then i, like an idiot, didn't use the overnight recipe (used the single day one) and then promptly fell asleep anyway, overproofing the dough by nearly four hours and then went to the store while it was baking and left it in the oven for a 3-ish minutes too long (the bottom burnt a little : ((). that being said? it's still pretty great! outside is nice and crisp, inside (3rd picture) is soft and not too dense (though a bit chewy likely from the overproof), and tastes and looks rather good. regardless, as a first-timer: any advice, critique or fun tips for me? (other than not mucking up the recipe next time 😅)

[Review] Jam Reads: Centauri's Shadow, by Ross Garner

Review originally on JamReads
Centauri's Shadow is a science fiction novel, and which represents the debut of Ross Garner as author. Two parallel stories separated by time, sharing the target of their journey: Proxima Centauri, but whose circumstances are extremely different; a thrilling novel that portrays an Earth in fear of an attack and which also tells us the events that preceded that moment.
Told using two omniscient POVs, we get to know the stories of Cole and Kyoko, two people whose lives were changed by the discovery of a signal from Proxima Centauri and that might mean the possibility of sentient life outside Earth; however, their circumstances are really different. Cole was with his family on the first attempt to use Sun's gravity to impulse a ship towards the star; the failure of it meant the loss of his family. A trauma that made Cole to feel isolated from the rest of humanity, fighting with his grief; only his arrival on the newly founded Mars' colony seems to give him a purpose to his life. A person that was broken as a consequence of the first attempt of response to the signal, and who will be chosen as the pilot of the mission that will re-try the maneuver that killed his parents. 44 years later, Kyoko is offered a mission when she thought she was going to be let down as pilot: together with other two volunteers, fly a bomb towards Proxima Centauri, and in a suicide task, detonate it, destroying the fleet before a new attack against Earth happens.
It is interesting how Garner uses the character-driven narrative to portray two really different people, and it opens to the discussion of how their circumstances shaped their personalities. Cole is more morally grey, but we can also interpret it as a result of his circumstances: orphan at a young age, he ended growing in the Mars' colony, a theoretical utopia that was starved of funds after the signal was discovered; he partly lacks the adequate answers to many situations, and always felt out of place outside of the time he helped the control of the colony. Kyoko is more of an idealist, who devoted her life to flying; the past eight years were spent in the fear of a new attack, so she accepts the suicidal mission to Proxima. She, as Cole, is also a lonely person, but she can feel being appreciated by others; it's a character we can cheer for without any kind of doubt.
Garner's prose is agile and precise, really adequate to the genre, and makes this books compulsively readable; while the premise itself is not exactly original, the approach is well executed, making you feel engaged in the story.
Centauri's Shadow is an excellent sci-fi novel, a story that will hook you and which asks interesting questions behind the lines through their characters. If this is just the debut, I can't wait to see what Ross Garner has under the sleeve for next books.
