Today a majority of credit card transactions are sent electronically to merchant processing banks for authorization, capture and deposit. Various methods exist for presenting a credit card sale to "the system." In all circumstances either the entire magnetic strip is read by a swipe through a credit card terminal/reader, a computer chip is read, or the credit card information is manually entered into a credit card terminal, a computer or website.

Double-Decker Costco in Seoul, South Korea
Costco Wholesale Yangjae
Lots of seafood, sushi & sashimi, yummy-looking pastries, skincare, and Korean products (of course).
Long lines for some of the samples, like the galbi (Korean short rib), and who can blame them!
I thought it was funny that while they had Kirkland tortilla chips, it was only a couple boxes instead of the multiple pallets mine back home carries. 😂
They only accepted cash (lots of ATMs) or the Hyundai Bank card. But I asked and they also accepted my American Costco Citi card.

2024.05.20 09:38 MirzaJan Baha'i properties in Israel

The startling fact is that until 1952 the Baha’is held no land contiguous to the Shrine, thereby frustrating any hope of development or beautification. When Baha’u’llah ascended, the Mansion was surrounded by small buildings, dependencies of the Mansion itself; which were owned by various Baha’is: one of the believers made a gift of his home for the burial of Baha’u’llah. It was ‘Abdu’l-Baha’s poignant desire to beautify the surroundings of the Shrine but all the property was owned by the Baydun family, Muslims who were close friends of the Covenant-breakers. ‘They were determined that the Baha’is would never own an inch of their land, the parents binding the children in a promise never to sell land to the Baha'is. It is this family who built ditches around the Shrine and planted trees that would close the Shrine off from view.
[…]
During the lifetime of Baha’u'llah, ‘Abdu’l-Baha had bought some properties at His direction near the Sea of Galilee and the Jordan River. In one of His Tablets Baha’u’llah, in referring to these properties, speaks of them as forerunners of “noble and imposing structures” to be dedicated “to the worship and service of the one true God”.’ One of the properties was an area of 140 dunams (a dunam being one fourth of an acre) registered in the name of Zikrullah (Dhikru’llah), a descendant of Baha’u’llah’s faithful brother Musa. ‘Abdu’l-Baha told him never to parcel out or sell this land because one day it would be a holy place. Zikrullah left the property to his eldest son, also a trusted Baha’i.
During the war between Israel and the surrounding Arab states that followed the declaration of statehood, the Jewish forces were able to withstand the invading armies. When a truce resolution was adopted by the United Nations, more than half a million Arabs fled the land and settled outside Israel. Among those who fled was the Baydun family whose abandoned property eventually reverted to the State.
The Zikrullah property near Galilee happened to be on the immediate border of Syria with Transjordan in the demilitarized zone, and the State of Israel was very anxious to acquire that land. Officials approached the Zikrullah family to buy their property, but when the Guardian was asked, he said no, the Master told you to keep the land; it cannot be sold. Then someone had the idea of trading this property for the Baydun land around the Shrine of Baha’u’llah. The Guardian approved of this being done and Larry Hautz, the first American to come on pilgrimage after a ten year hiatus due to the troubled conditions in the country, remained in the Holy Land to begin the negotiations. On his departure, Leroy carried the lengthy transaction to its conclusion.
The trade of land was finally accomplished, the Baha’is transferring 140 dunams of land in the city of Ein Gev in the Galilee in exchange for some 160 dunams of land surrounding Baha’u’llah’s Shrine. The head office of the land development department was in Tel Aviv and there, on November 12, 1952, at nine in the morning, Leroy signed the contract for the land with the Government.
[…]
In his message the following year to the Intercontinental Conference in Chicago, Shoghi Effendi again spoke of this precious land: “The stupendous process of the rise and consolidation of the World Administrative Center has been accelerated through the acquisition, in the Plain of ‘Akka, of a one hundred and sixty thousand square meter area, surrounding the Qiblih of the Baha'i world, permitting the extension of the Outer Sanctuary of the Most Holy Tomb — to be designated henceforth the Haram-i-Aqdas . . .” This is when the term came into Baha’i usage.
There is a building alongside the Mansion of Bahji in which the worst remnant of the Covenant-breakers lived. On one of the Master’s darkest days caused by this man’s scheming, ‘Abdu’l-Baha told him that he would live to see the collapse of everything he had done. When the Baydun land was transferred, he still lived on as the Master had predicted, nearly one hundred years old, paralyzed, unable to speak, but looking out as the Guardian’s handiwork took form: the magnificent gardens, the great park, all of it illuminated at night because the Guardian associated light with the Baha’i Manifestations.
[…]
Second only in importance to the acquisition of the Baydun land was the purchase of the twenty thousand square meter site for the future Mashriqu’l-Adhkar on the crest of Mt. Carmel. “It is truly in an imposing position”, wrote the International Baha’i Council in 1955.
[…]
A few days later the Guardian called Leroy over to the Master’s house and said he wished to go up and look at the land for the Temple. During their drive up the mountain the Guardian said: This is a historic day because today we are going to select the site for the Temple. He walked over the entire area, indicating which plots were essential and which were not. He chose the most difficult area to acquire, on the highest point of the mountain, and indicated the exact spot where the heart of the Temple should be; Leroy marked it with a large stone. Today a marble obelisk has replaced the stone. They returned to the car and drove back. Now, the Guardian said, you must get busy and buy that land.
It took two years of effort to acquire it. During the protracted negotiations there was not one person who thought it could be done; everywhere he went, Leroy was told it would be impossible. (Shoghi Effendi once asked, What do you think, Leroy, when these people say you cannot have something you want? Leroy answered: When I know Shoghi Effendi wants it, I just don’t hear their “no”.)
Investigation revealed how involved the question of ownership was. In fact Leroy felt this might facilitate its acquisition, as only God could disentangle such a web. The property had been owned by the Carmelite Order for nine centuries, but during the Mandate the British War Office wanted it for military purposes as it commanded the whole harbor. The Carmelites sold the land to the British with the understanding that they could one day reclaim it. When the Mandate ended, the British agreed to resale of the property but the Carmelites could not pay in hard currency so the contract was never concluded, and both claimed ownership. The State of Israel also claimed ownership through a law that returned to the State any land registered in the name of the British that had not been transferred. Finally, the Israeli defense ministry requisitioned the land stating ownership was immaterial, they needed it, no doubt for the same reasons the British had.
…the defense department occupied the land and difficult negotiations continued with them for many months. One branch of the services was adamantly opposed to relinquishing the land and Leroy requested a meeting in the Defense Minister’s office. ‘The Minister was out of town but a brilliant young deputy chaired the meeting, who, as it turned out, had attended a seminar at Harvard University with one of Leroy’s long-time railroad colleagues. A warm relationship was immediately established and Leroy left the meeting with a letter of intent favorable to releasing the land to the Baha’is. But three persons still objected and it took more lengthy negotiations before they would agree to the release. When it was thought everything had been decided, the official representing the State Domain stood in the way of final settlement, as he would not agree to include the essential plot on which the Guardian had centered the Temple.
Leroy had what he called a “spirited discussion” with him. It centered on two points. One, the suggestion that you put “your building” somewhere other than the area Shoghi Effendi had designated for it. What is so particular about this spot? he asked; we just will not give it to you. Leroy said this is the spot we must have because it 1s a holy place. Leroy asked him why they didn’t move their Wailing Wall [in Arab-held East Jerusalem] over to New Jerusalem; why didn’t they use a wall of the King David hotel? You won’t do it, Leroy said, because the ‘Temple of Solomon was built right there and the Wailing Wall is one of the walls of the Temple. This is our holy place and we don’t move a holy place any more than you do.
Then came the reaction that “because you have dollars” you feel you can buy anything you want, but I am going to prevent the sale of this piece of land to you. Leroy answered that yes, he had dollars, but the Baha’is don’t use money to force people to do things. What have the Baha’is forced you to do? We are building parklands and gardens for you, we are erecting beautiful buildings for you, we use money to serve society. You are a Jew, Leroy said, and if ever a people in history learned what the hand of God can do, it is the Jewish people. I tell you that we are going to have this land because God wants us to have it and no force on earth can stop it.
[…]
…the property was registered in the name of the British War Office it had to be transferred from them to the Carmelites, who then transferred it to the attorney, who then-transferred it to the Baha’is. The Government agreed to a single transfer, so the property was finally passed from the British War Office directly to Shoghi Rabbani in a single transaction.
After the land had been acquired Milly Collins one night asked the Guardian if in future the Temple land and the Shrine properties, two kilometers distant, would not be joined together with gardens. The Guardian said yes, and we will have our own road between the two, but we have to purchase the intervening land where houses are now built.

2024.05.20 09:27 RickRolledAgain Final questions before my trip!!

Hello, this sub has been very useful for planning my trip and I just have a couple more questions before I leave:
  1. Do HK eSims bypass the firewall and is it cheaper than buying a VPN? and how much data should I get for 3 weeks as a tourist?
  2. I read online that you have to register with local police when you travel in China. Do I have to do it if I only stay 2 to 5 days in any given city? and we're doing 6 total destinations...
  3. Will the taxis and deliveries call me? meaning I ought to purchase a local Sim card?
  4. Which maps system is most reliable? Baidu maps, MAPS.ME, Apple maps, Gaode?
  5. Is Trip.com a reliable place to purchase train tickets in China?
  6. At any point are authorities gonna check my phone? Anything I should be weary about (except the most obvious)?
  7. Is it better to visit Tianmen mountain in Hunan at night or during daytime?

2024.05.20 09:26 Lamedviv Domming Former Alpha Slave Mary, Part 8, Dubious Consent, Slavery, Bondage, Humiliation. Mary's New Role As Repeating Extra. Nora, Layla And Sarah Gentle Femdom Constance. Nora's Daring Invitation to Sheila And Lara To Join, As Subs. Sheila And Lara Review Her Role And Discuss Saving Sandy.

Mary's perspective
So I'm tied to a fucking tree, though at least I'm in the shade. Hooded, panel gagged, wrapped in a white sleep sack, secured with rope. My ass, tits, and pussy exposed. Almost directly beneath my hanging boobs, two of Queen Of Mean's most junior Dommes play Spades on a fold out card table, ignoring me for the moment. Not that I'm complaining.
The filming for the episode where Saarya Rahul's clone is discovered by the Perseverance Co. has started. Yeah, I learned that bitch Lara Gupta is coming back, before I knew why.
I was actually mummified and trapped in the bondage frame on the Amazonian Ship's bridge. We're not filming a scene, QOM's crew just found it a convenient place to strap me into when they're busy and want to make sure their lowest slave stays out from underfoot. Just like in the ready room, I'm supposed to have a domme watch me all the time for my safety.
Of course, Daci is in charge of drawing up the rotation, and she assigns the youngest and most immature of Queen Of Mean's crew to watch me. No big surprise, sometimes they go to screw off with their friends, leaving me trapped alone on the set. A silent mummy with her lady parts hanging out, and her wide, desperate eyes tracking back and forth.
That's what happened the day I was reacquainted with Lara. I had been enjoying the peace and quiet of the set, I actually enjoyed not being tormented by one of QOM's sadistic Junior Dommes. Then I heard steps and laughing voices, coming from the sets back passageway. I braced myself from some sadistic cruelty from my Mistress Daci and her evil minions.
Instead I heard Mistress Daci say "You want to know where Girl Mary is, Miss Nora and I want to surprise you. Surprise, Miss Lara, here she is!" I heard an audible gasp that had to be Lara Gupta. "That's Mar-".
I hear Mistress Nora's girlish chuckle. "You said you read the release material, Lara, this is Girl Mary being her new super submissive self!" Both her and Mistress Daci giggle.
The three women walk around to regard my mummified ass from the front. To the right Mistress Daci, in her black Amazonian pilot flight suit, with red insignia and badges. She grins at me with her usual sadistic delight.
In the center Lara Rajaneesh Gupta in the flesh. I'm surprised she's not wearing the tight bootie shorts and unicorn T-shirt. She is wearing a loose fitting black T-Shirt saying "Want To Impress This Desi Girl? Whip Me Up Some Curry!" And what looks like faded store bought Levis. Most striking is her eyes. Last time her eyes were shifty and sneaky. Now they're warm and open, she actually looks saddened by my plight, and embarrassed for me.
I don't have much time to process that when I hear Mistress Nora speak. My eyes automatically track to my slender former student and current Domme. She's wearing her especially low cut Stellar Compact Navy blue jumpsuit with Commanders rank tabs.
"Girl Mary, why are you contaminating these two fine free ladies with your scummy slave gaze? Eyes down now!" Realizing my mistake, too late, my eyes dropped to the deck. I hear Daci giggle at my plight.
"Mistress Daci, why isn't there a domme to watch this slave and stop behavior like this? This is lax for such a professional crew as yours." Daci seems more serious when she says. "Miss Nora, I apologize, I fix it now." A moment later I hear her chewing ass, presumably on her phone, of the domme she assigned to watch me. I take no pleasure then that, I know the little bitch is going to take out Daci's butt chewing on my sorry slave hide.
"Miss Nora, Miss Lara, I apologize, the domme assigned to watch this subbie is on her way back here. She will be appropriately disciplined for not watching this slave." Miss Nora says "Thank you, Daci." Lara remains silent.
I hear footsteps running down the passage in a rush. Daci orders the junior domme to halt in the entrance, and unleashes another blistering tirade on her. Then she tells her to remain in place until her betters leave.
Nora says "Daci, Lara, lets forget this unpleasantness, I ordered us some curry from Miss Connor's favorite Thai Bistro! She's going to have lunch with Slave Sarah and Slave Constance at her living unit. Layla is going out to eat with a visiting uncle. We have the Ready Room to ourselves, we can eat and chat there."
Lara and Daci agree that sounds good and I hear the three ladies receding steps. Then I hear my designated Domme "Miss High and Mighty barks orders and eats with the cute little bunnies, while I have to watch your stupid ass! But that's okay...I can still get my own back!"
I feel the first stinging line of fire on my behind from her whip. Punishing my slave ass unfairly for her screw up...
A day later, I'm sandwiched between Nora on my right and Layla on my left. I'm naked, hooded, and panel gagged with my arms bindered behind my back. My nipple clamps chained to the desk, my clit leash anchored to the deck.
We're in the classroom where Constance and I were first indoc'd into QOM's crew's way of doing things. Guess I'm not even good enough to be in the ready room anymore. At least for script readings, Daci, for whom English is obviously not her first language, is absent. Layla and Nora can get really rough, but even together they're not as mean as that fucking Romanian bitch.
Today I focus, and obey their directions, keeping my gloomy slave feelings inside. My former protege and the Hispanic girl are surprisingly calm as they guide me through my part of the script.
 Opening Scene
A mummified, helpless girl secured to a tree. Only her eyes, tits and pussy visible in her slave wrappings. The camera pulls back with her still centered. She's surrounded by a hellscape of burnt out vehicles, scorched earth, and blackened trees.
A robotic AI Voice gives a briefing:
AI briefer: At 0800 we spotted a hostage at the forward observer point guiding artillery pinning down the 6th Stellar Compact Marines Battalion. Obviously female, her identity remains unknown, although she might be one of the MIA Orbit Guard members from when this planet was initially assaulted by a combined Amazonian N'Docc" force.
This tactic was first noted when we were mopping up the surviving ground forces after the retaking of the Botany Bay colony. A captive is secured at a critical strategic point, to buy them time to do the most damage to Stellar Compact forces and slip away. They know we will eventually sacrifice the hostage, if we feel that's necessary. But they know our doctrine, that we have to do a cost benefit analysis and try to save the hostage if we can. They count on this to do the maximum damage as they retreat, if they can't turn the battle to their favor.
Unfortunately, a cost benefit analysis determined this unknown hostage could not be saved without unacceptable losses to the 6th Marines, and possibly jeopardizing the ground campaign on this world. At 0956, the determination was made to terminate the forward observer post with extreme prejudice.
A Plasma Mortar Smart Round was keyed to the coordinates and launched. ( A Holo Data link picture appears, showing the mortar in relation to the forward observer spot. A graphic represents the round launched, and a line with mathematical calculations represents its trajectory).
(The picture shifts back to the restrained slavegirl. You see shifty scrambling in the background) It appears all hostiles manning the outpost detected the launch and escaped without discernible casualties. (The hostage isn't so lucky, her desperate eyes track the flaming football descending on her position. She mmmphs and wiggles, her big breasts swaying. A moment later, in an Orange red flash she is incinerated, a death devoid of dignity bestowed on so many courageous Stellar Compact female soldiers before her).
(The view shifts with no further commentary, which would be superfluous. We see Commander Gail to the left of a large viewscreen, Rear Admiral Mendez to the right. Gail puts her head in her hands and takes a moment to gather herself.)
Mendez: Commander-Nora, I'm sorry. I know that must be hard, especially after what happened to Captain Rommie. But I need you to understand what's going on down there. There are still fierce pockets of resistance. Stellar Compact Intelligence has confirmed that the Amazonians want to take you alive and make you a Whipping Girl, whomever does it will attain greater honor than even Commander Sappho capturing poor Rommie. Is a morale tour really worth it?
Gail (Raises her head, visibly pulls together) I know the risks, but understand why you showed that to me. I don't want to die at all, especially not like that. But war entails risks. I knew that when I pounded my fist on that table, and yelled at a conclave Admirals, that I risked Dismissal or even Court Martial. I know it now, and think it's important enough to do.
Mendez: It's not just you. The media has dubbed you the "Heroine Of Botany Bay" and "The Savioress Of The Stellar Compact" you being killed, or slowly tortured as a Whipping Girl, could devastate our morale at a critical juncture, even turn the tide of the war against us again!
(Mendez takes a deep breath, pauses)
Don't get me wrong, I care about your well being Commander. I lost one of the finest female command Officers I knew on my watch. If I lost another-I don't know if I could forgive-(The normally poised Admiral casts her head down and seems to be wiping away tears).
(Nora reaches out to gently touch the Admiral's right shoulder with her left hand. Unsolicited contact with a Flag officer in peacetime can be a serious offence, depending on circumstances. In wartime, it can be a Capitol one. The Admiral's Marine Guard starts to move in on the impertinent commander. The Admiral pulls herself together and waves them off).
Mendez (Grabs Gail's hand with her right, clasps it in both hands) Nora, the first time I saw you, you seemed ready to jump behind the Cybo-Chief Warrant Officer ASSHO to escape from my gaze. Now you're a battle tested hero. You've come a long way baby."
Nora: Ma'am, I never wanted to be a hero. I don't FEEL like one. All I ever wanted to do was be an explorer. Also show a society on the verge of revoking women's rights, that we ARE as capable as men. But now that I am one, it's not about me, it's about us, the Stellar Compact as a whole. What kind of hero avoids risks when it comes to encouraging those who look to them as a role model?
Mendez (releases Gail's hand, looks stern again) Young woman, I could order you not to go ground side. (She gets a small, fond smile) an order you might choose not to obey. So I don't have to convene Court Martial proceedings, I give you permission. You be careful down there, Commander, or I will personally spank you like I used to do to my daughters!"
Gail (small smile) Ma'am, I have Chief Warrant Officer ASSHO protecting me-and Gabby-Staff Sergeant Perez and her Marines. I'd bet on them over a Regiment of N'Docc" any day!
Mendez (Stern and serious) Young lady, you may have to. Keep your head on a swivel. Dismissed.
(Nora salutes, the Admiral returns it, the meeting is over. Nora leaves the briefing room, her own Marine Guard falling in after her as she leaves).
I try to cover my chagrin, once again, "Boss Bitch" Miss Connor, makes me look pathetic and my Mistress looks awesome with her writing. I wish I'd never asked Dave to let me start this project! I'm still strapped to this tree, sweltering, with my lady parts exposed for all to see.
Lara's perspective
So "Boss Bitch" asked to meet me at 08:30 at the Ready room for a script meeting about my character. With my security badge, I could walk around unescorted, and I had the cypher lock combo to the ready room. Still when I came to the door ten minutes early, the red privacy light was on, I thought it polite to wait for Sheila.
The pretty half breed girl rolls up almost right on time, trademark fedora on head, coffee cup in hand. She sees the red light and frowns. She politely asks me to hold her cup and pounds the intercom button.
"Alright, bitches, I don't care if you're having a les orgy in there! You have 30 seconds to get dressed and wipe off the table, then I'm coming in!" She takes the coffee cup back and times it on her phone. When time's up, she punched in the combo and stormed in, with me close behind.
Her assertion of them having an orgy isn't far off. Constance is naked, kneeling and facing a chair, her arms secured with padded zip ties to each arm of the chair, panel gagged. Sarah is also naked, behind Constance, standing and with arms bindered behind her, though not muzzled. She is proudly standing facing us, smiling, her fine Asian assets on display.
I take a quick glance at Nora, in her blue jumpsuit, sitting across the table with a coffee cup in hand. Her proud smile shows how far her exotic subbie has come. Sarah knew without being told she had to proudly "present" to Sheila and I, because she was nude. I look back at the two naked girls.
Layla is on the other side of the chair from Constance in her Stellar Compact Marine Uniform, smiling like a Cheshire cat.
Our fearless leader fixes the two Dommes and the Alpha Slave with a "Start talking, ladies" gaze. Nora asks "Sarah, would you like to explain to Miss Connor what we're doing?" Sarah eagerly replies "Yes, Mistress Nora!"
The Asian girl turns to face Sheila earnestly. "We're helping Constance get in touch with her submissive and sapphic desires. I was rubbing my nipples on her back and whispering in her ear, while Mistress Layla reassured her and calmed her. This was an idea the four of us came up with together, and Constance has a safe signal, three mmmphs, if it gets too intense for her."
Sheila's attention turns from the happy, nude former Navy girl to the other sub. "Constance are you ok, and alright with all this?" Constance mmmphs "Yes, Miss Connor." She doesn't sound under duress, this is the most relaxed I've seen her.
Sheila nods. "Girls, make sure you clean up any messes you make, and no going down on each other on the table, remember we eat there. Carry on." Three clear, and one mmmphed "Yes, Miss Connor."
Sheila nods. "Lara and I will be in my office, don't hesitate to knock if you need me." Boss Bitch turns to her office and I move to follow.
"Miss Connor, Lara wait ." Nora is looking at us with a bold, devilish glint in her eye. Where is that mousy little waif I met the first time? "We're ahead of the shooting schedule, we have time, why don't you and Lara join us? Four Dommes, two subs, why not have a little fun, girls?"
Then the gleam in her eyes got even more wicked. "If one or both of you want to sub for awhile, relinquish some of your responsibility? Two hot dommes, four exotic subs, it would challenge Layla's and I's Mistress skills, and we'd all enjoy a big shower of girl come." Nora and Layla exchange looks like they're ready, even eager for that challenge.
Sheila looks intrigued, hell I'm a little intrigued and horny myself, despite what happened last time. But Sheila firmly asserts "Tempting, my little horndogs, but we're ahead because I put business first, my horny little bitches. Lara and I have a lot to do if we want to stay on schedule, so we'll have to pass. Have fun girls." Layla, Nora and Sarah look disappointed, but nod, they know who's in charge.
When Mary, Nora and Sarah "topped" me last time, Shelia helped them Domme me, of course, but never took off her clothing. Does she ever cut loose, get naked with her girls when they get really wild? If Sheila and I had a private session, who would top, and who would bottom? My pussy getting wet, I send those thoughts to horny jail. Sheila's right, we have priorities, not just the show but saving Sandy.
I wait for Sheila to sit, then politely take my seat. With her usual lack of preamble, Boss Bitch shoves a shooting script for my first new episode across her desk at me. I pick it up and page through it.
Basically, Commander Gail does a morale tour of the violently liberated colony world Persephone. The Stellar Compact has the upper hand, the Alliance fleet being driven out of the system. Fierce pockets of N'Docc" and Amazonian Warriors fight on ground side, they'd rather fight to the last cat and woman than surrender.
The Mobile Medical units are overwhelmed with military casualties, so liberated civilian casualties languish. The Red Cross, the Red Crescent and other medical NGO's are allowed on world to pick up the slack. The problem is some of them feel obligated to treat N'Docc" and Amazonian wounded. This causes sometimes enraged reactions among a recently liberated civilian population. Violent acts against aid workers who treat the enemy are common. Military authority usually looks the other way if a victim is the "enemy" or someone known to treat them. Most incidents are blamed on "Insurgents" even when they're obviously not the culprit.
During a tour of a hovel city, Gail, Assho, and their Marine Guard hear screaming. They head down a shadowy alley, and see several men trying to rape a dark skinned woman clad only in a tattered man's work shirt, the rest of her torn clothes strewn around the alleyway.
Gail yells at them to stop, and the woman takes the opportunity to flee her rapists and run to Gail, ASSHO, and their Marine Guard; cowering behind ASSHO. A moment of shock from Gail, when she sees the woman is a dead ringer for her mentor LCDR Saarya Rahul, but she composes herself.
Gail: What are you men doing to this poor woman? Hasn't the enemy done enough, bastards like you need to finish their work?
Scumbag 1: Begging pardon, miss, but this little tart is giving aid and comfort to the enemy, we's just seeing if she got some fur her own, miss.
Gail(looking disgusted) Really? You're a sick freak.
(She's about to say more when a local militia patrol shows up. They ignore the Scumbag and his two minions focusing on the girl hiding behind ASSHO).
Patrol Leader: Causing a ruckus again, you little tease? We let you off easy even though you were the Domina's body servant. You still can't keep from making difficulties.I'm taking you to lock up!
(Gail clears her throat pointedly)
Patrol Leader (Really looking at her, taken aback) Oh, sorry Commander, that this little twitch got you caught up in her troubles. If you'll just hand her over...
Gail: (looking for insignia, seeing faded Sergeant stripes) Sergeant, you will arrest these three men and take them to your lock up immediately, charge them with attempted rape!"
Patrol leader (looking shocked) Ma'am you can't be serious....
Gail: Take them into custody now, or we will. And I'll report you to the planetary Provost Marshall!
Patrol Leader (Looking angry) Aye, Ma'am! (To the scumbags) C'mon boys. (The patrol surrounds the three men but doesn't cuff them. The patrol laughs and jokes with the scum as they saunter away).
(Gail looks disgusted, but then turns to help ASSHO tend to the sobbing girl who is a double of her mentor).
I look up. "Your usual top notch work, Sheila, Ari will believe we're not just phoning it in. Trust me."
Sheila looks at me soberly "I do. Now let's start talking about freeing my sister....

2024.05.20 09:22 Likhith_Kumar_Raju SBI Cash Back CC LTF

SBI Cash Back CC LTF
Despite having an 8-year-long relationship with SBI, a good CIBIL score of 772, and an annual income of net 22 LPA, my application for the SBI Cashback Card for LTF was rejected. I suspect the rejection might be due to my age (23). It seems SBI is not at all concerned about these factors. Could you provide guidance on how to proceed and if there's any way to obtain the SBI Cashback Card for LTF?

2024.05.20 09:22 TerryDavis7 Minix Book Question Confusing verbiage on page 8 for Figure 1-3 IBM 7049 Structure of a typical FMS job

on pg 8 of the minix book there is confusing terminology for pg. 9's Figure 1-3
When they are referring to "the program" in the sentence "It was followed by the program to be compiled, and then a $LOAD card, directing the operating system to load the object program just compiled. "
They are referring to Fortran's Machine Code having to be compiled when they say "the program"? They are also referring to the now compiled Fortran Machine Code as the "object program" when they refer to the thing just compiled?
I want to make sure I am understanding the chronological events taking place for the typical input job described in Figure 1-3 on page 9 of the Minix book hardcover edition.
the reason this is confusing is because of the previous statement before "It was followed"
In the previous sentence / statement it is said "Then came a $Fortran card telling the operating system to load the FORTRAN compiler from the system tape."
Let us assume there is no already compiled Fortran Program that can be loaded already from a Scratch Tape and that this is the first time FORTRAN is being compiled in the IBM 7094.
  1. There would be the job card allowing the login with its other details mentioned in the minix book
  2. $FORTRAN card which tells the IBM OS to load the machine code for the FORTRAN Program 2a. Then FORTRAN has to be compiled itself. Which results in a object program from the FORTRAN Machine code?
  3. Then the $LOAD card directs the operating system to install / load now freshly compiled Fortran object program that had been machine code
am I understanding this correctly?
Obviously it would be a waste of time to recompile Fortran every time unless this was necessary for it to run early on? Or was the compiled Fortran object program just loaded into the IBM 7094 OS from batch tape instead?
I am confused about what exactly is occurring after the $FORTRAN card in figure 1-3. are they describing Fortran going from machine code to a object program running on the IBM 7049 OS?
Maybe I'm also confused about how the compiler is compiled in the first place is why I am not understanding this correctly?

2024.05.20 09:14 modzer0 Ever take a dogman to the vet?

I should not be writing this. I know they will be looking for me as soon as this goes live. I had to get the word out despite all the secrecy surrounding the project. I don't know what they'll do to me when they find me, but this has to get out.
I was unemployed vet tech looking for work when I came across a job listing offering a strangely large amount of money. What did I have to loose? I called the number and they gave me a website to go to that took me through an application process and a security clearance form that I had to fill out the last seven years of my life. They said it would be months until the clearance would come through but to my surprise a month later I got a phone call telling me I had been granted Interm Secret clearance and the job would proceed.
I had to go to a building without any name on it downtown and they took my photo for an ID card and a packet of information about where I was to go to the next day.
The next morning I drove to the address with a mix of excitement and apprehension. What about this job required a security clearance? Why had I gotten my interm secret so quickly? I figured I'd soon find out when I pulled up to a gate with a card reader. I swiped my ID and the razor wire topped gate slid open so I could pass. Yeah nothing ominous about that. I drove a mile or so down the road and parked in the parking lot in front of a building that looked like the set of a prison movie. The windows were narrow slits and I could tell from a distance that the door was very heavy duty. Thinking back a few minutes ago wasn't the top of that razor wire fence angled in as if to keep something in rather than people out?
I got out and approached the heavy door. I spotted the card reader and used my ID on it and it flashed green and there was a loud clunking sound from the door as it unlocked. I had to put some muscle behind it to get it to open and then it shut behind me followed by another loud clunk as the locks reengaged.
I turned to see a thick armored window with a guard staring me down.
"First day huh?" he asked me as he looked at his screen.
"Yeah," I said a bit nervously.
"Sit tight, your department head will be coming to pick you up and take you to your in-brief," he said.
"What uh, what is this place?" I asked.
"All that will be answered by the briefing so have a seat and relax. You're likely in the safest spot in the facility," he said.
I looked at the inner door and noticed it was just as thick and heavy as the outer one. I was essentially sitting in an armored booth so he was technically right about it being safe.
When my boss arrived he was wearing scrubs and had his ID card clipped to the bottom of the V of the top.
"So, you're my new tech?" he asked.
"Yes, Sir," I replied.
"Good, hopefully you follow instructions better than the last one," he said. "I'm Dr. Tanner. You can call me 'Sir' or 'Doctor'."
"Sir, can you tell me what I'll be doing here?" I asked.
"All in due time. First you need to complete the safety briefing. It is not a joke. Take a look at the windows and doors if you need convincing. The government doesn't spend this kind of money unless it's very necessary, and it is. You'll understand the need for it when I introduce you to our charges. I'm not going to tell you yet because I enjoy the look on people's faces when they get their first peak of what we're doing here," he said. "Now, for the safety briefing. Follow me."
He began to open the inner door when he stopped and looked back at me. "Do you have any electronic devices on you?"
"No Sir, the security documents instructed me to leave my phone and anything with a digital memory in the car," I said.
"Excellent, you're already demonstrating that you can follow directions," he said. Was that a hint of a smile I saw?
He lead me down the hallway to a room on the left and used his card to unlock and open the door. After I walked inside what appeared to be a conference room he followed me inside and let the door shut.
I immediately noticed the back of the door wasn't the usual thing one would expect to see. It had a big lever in the middle that looked like it operated bolts to secure the door shut. I started to wonder what the hell I had gotten myself into. I expected to be working with maybe the facility's guard dogs. This kind of security was on a level I hadn't experienced before.
"Good, you're observant, another plus," the doctor said.
He walked over to the table and picked up a recorder and pressed play. A trilling alarm sound came for it and he let it play for a few seconds before cutting it off.
"If you hear that sound along with flashing red lights you are to go to the nearest safe room, such as this one and use this lever to bolt the door," He walked over and pressed a button by the windows and the thick glass became opaque.
"And you are to opaque the windows with the control in the room so nothing can see in," he said and then pointed to a door on the other wall that had 'Emergency Supplies' written on it. "There you will find food, water, and other necessities if you happen to be locked down for an extended period of time. There is also a radio already set to the control room frequency. If the phone is not working pull the tab on the back of the radio so the battery makes contact and reports in with the information posted on the back of the door. That's basically who you are, where you are, and if there are any threats you know of near you. Otherwise sit tight unless told otherwise."
"Threats?" I asked.
"Our charges are out of containment or an external threat," the doctor replied.
"What's so dangerous that we need bunker rooms like this?" I asked.
"All in due time," he replied. "Have you ever used a tranquilizer gun?"
"No," I responded.
"No matter, you'd need to qualify on the two types we use anyway with the security team," he said.
"Why do we need tranquilizer guns?" I asked.
"The animals we work with are dangerous. They're sedated before they get to us and one of our tasks is to make sure they stay sedated until they're returned to the enclosure. If one wakes up and slips a restraint you are not going to want to go near it to give an injection. That's why we have tranq guns," The doctor said.
"That makes perfect sense to me," I said. My curiosity was burning wondering what we were working with. Had to be something like large predators to require this much security. A grizzly would be a plausible reason why the doors had the extra bars. The force they could produce could snap the usual latches.
"Good because it's time for my favorite part. Showing the new guy what we work with," the doctor said and led the way deeper into the facility and up a set of stars to a room labeled 'observation deck'.
"The windows are to remain frosted by the electronic controls there whenever the room is not in use. They cannot see in but they seem to know someone is watching them and it upsets them. It's best for everyone if they are not upset," He reached over and pressed the button and the electronic frosting cleared.
That's the moment where my brain completely derailed and I questioned my own sanity.
"W-Werewolves?" I asked.
"No, at least not at this facility. These are a lesser known cryptid called Dogmen, kind of like Bigfoot."
"Wait, is Bigfoot real?" I asked.
"Yes, but not nearly as widespread as 'sightings' would make you think," he said.
"If these exist, what else is real?" I asked him.
"That's beyond your need to know," he said sternly, but then his face softened. "I'll lend you a book later that contains everything we've confirmed and studied. After all, if you continue with this job you will have the opportunity to work with them in the future, and it's best you know what you're getting into," he said. "One benefit they probably haven't gotten around to telling you yet is that they will pay for your education. You can become a full veterinarian working with the most interesting creatures that exist," he said. "Not a bad gig, huh?"
"Except for the part where I'm working with large dangerous creatures," I said.
"Large, intelligent, dangerous creatures," he replied. "And that is why we have procedures and rules. Things like always having more sedative staged to inject if a patient starts to wake up, having them restrained at all times, and if they do wake up you have the tranq guns to put them back under without risking yourself," he said and tapped the control to frost over the glass again.
Our next stop was back in the conference room where there were now a couple of binders.
"Now for the boring part. Study these because you'll have to pass a test on them later. It's those procedures I mentioned. It covers everything from handling the animals, dosages we use, and why we can't leave after dark."
"Wait, we can't leave after dark?" I asked, a bit alarmed.
"There are dogmen in the woods surrounding this facility. The fence does a decent job of keeping them out but they do get in and they're not happy we have some of their kind captive. They're fairly shy during the day and become active at night so it's for your own safety that once the sun sets you stay here. We have secure rooms just for the occasion, and scrubs are not short in supply if you need a change of clothing. We have a mess hall staffed 24/7 by some excellent cooks. People who can do this job are rare so they take care of us. Now get to reading, you'll have to pass a test before you're allowed to work. I'll come pick you up for lunch."
I did as he said and spent the next few hours reading with a break for the promised lunch that was beef stroganoff and actually really good. I went for seconds. Then it was back to memorizing policy and procedures till I was finally done and managed a passing score on the test. That was followed by some time at an indoor range getting qualified on the tranq guns.
The doctor reviewed my test and nodded. "Excellent, you're a fast learner. We've rescheduled some things for tomorrow so we'll have the extra help. You head home and get a good night's rest. I'll see you in the morning in the veterinary section, just follow the signs it's easy to find," the doctor said.
I did as he said and drove home. I couldn't help but be a good deal more vigilant as I looked at the woods on the way out. Dogmen were out there and no one in the area except us knew. There were the cryptid hunters but they didn't know for sure like I did from seeing a pack close up.
Needless to say I didn't get a whole lot of sleep that night. My mind was racing with the possibilities of what was real from all of the stories.
In the morning I made breakfast and sat for a bit having to give myself a reality check that yesterday wasn't just a dream, so I finally picked up my keys and headed out. I drove down the lonely road and passed through the gate without incident. I parked my car and made my way through the security checkpoints and began following the signs to the Veterinarian department. As the doctor had said, it wasn't difficult to find.
There were three entrances all like airlocks that were long enough for a gurney. It didn't take long to figure out the purpose. If you had dangerous animals inside you wanted at least one door containment so they couldn't get past you and into the larger facility.
I went inside through the airlock like doors one at a time and found myself in a very familiar veterinary clinic though one that was very well stocked.
It was then that I met my other coworker, I'll call him Mike, who was sitting on a stool reading a magazine.
"Hey, you must be the new guy. I'm Mike," he said and I introduced myself.
"So, your first big day. You excited, or terrified?" Mike asked.
"A bit of both," I said honestly.
"Relax, by the time they get to us they've been pumped with enough drugs to drop an elephant. We take samples and the guards take them back out. Then we run the usual tests like any other animal. It's easy money," Mike said. "We're never in any danger."
"What about all of the procedures?" I asked.
"There's what's written down on paper and then there's what is practical and works. If we followed the checklist for every dogman that's brought in here it would just take us twice as long, and twice as long that it can wake up," Mike said. "So relax, I'll show you what you really have to do to streamline things."
What was I to say? He'd obviously been doing this for a long time and if his system worked who was I to question it?
Our first patient of the day made me the most nervous. The security team wheeled in a restrained female on a gurney right into the middle of our space then they backed out. Being the new guy I did the basics by checking heart rate, breathing, and looking into the eyes to make sure she was out cold. Everything was normal based on the numbers I had memorized.
Mike watched me, corrected my stethoscope placement a little and started drawing blood as soon as I was done. The moment he was done he buzzed the guards to take her back out while he labeled the samples.
"Less time they're in here the better so label your samples and fill out the papers once they're taken out," Mike said. "No need to have a dangerous animal laying around while we fill out forms."
"What about the extra sedative we're supposed to have ready?" I asked.
"The tranq guns are right there. Much safer to back off out of reach and just shoot them with another dose," Mike said. I couldn't fault his logic.
We had four more patients that day all went as smoothly as the first and I was beginning to relax. It was our last patient of the day when things went wrong.
It started normally with the guards rolling the male into our space and I took vitals and checked the eyes.
"Hey, I have some dilation here. I don't think he's under enough. Where's the sedative?" I asked.
"Don't worry about it. I'll be done before he realizes what happened," Mike said and undid one of the restraints a little so he could get to the vein. It was at that point things went horribly wrong. As soon as Mike inserted the needle the male woke up and jabbed it's hand upward catching Mike in the throat and spraying blood everywhere. I moved forward out of instinct to try and tighten the restraint when I felt a searing pain across my face and my right eye went red.
I stumbled back. Oh God had I lost my eye? I shook myself out of it long enough to badge through a door and throw the bolts before pressing the intercom button. "Creature out of containment in veterinary. I think Mike is dead. I'm hurt and need a medic!" I said before blacking out.
I don't know how long it was but when I woke up I was in a hospital room and the Veterinarian was sitting beside my bed.
"You're safe, you're in a hospital and just out of cosmetic surgery. You'll have some scars but it'll look like the result of a big cat. Your eye is fine."
"Mike?" I asked.
"Dead before any help would get to him. We have video of the whole thing including you questioning him multiple times on matters of procedure. Don't let someone senior intimidate you into not being safe. You have a month's paid leave to recuperate." he said.
So here I am. I need some advice. Should I go back to work after my leave is done or turn in my resignation? It won't take them much to figure out who I am if they find this post. I also don't know what they'll do to me if they do.

2024.05.20 09:03 Spirited-Self-3111 [Grade 12 History: Cold war] Is this a good essay for my Grade 12 History exam?

So for my History exam I have to write a essay on the expansion of the cold war: Vietnam and I want to ask here if it is good as I do online school and I don't have a teacher I could directly ask. p.s. Sorry if there are spelling errors, I wrote this in my native language(Afrikaans) so I translated this to English to ask you guys :)
The Vietnam War, which raged from the mid-20th century until 1975, is a complex and controversial episode in the history of the Cold War. This conflict not only had local implications but also shaped the global political landscape. To fully understand the impact of the Cold War on Vietnam, it is essential to examine the struggle against colonial powers before World War II, the situation in Vietnam immediately after the war, and the subsequent phases of the conflict.
Before World War II, Vietnam was a colony of France. The Vietnamese population has struggled for years against colonial oppression and for self-determination. The nationalist feelings were strengthened by leaders such as Ho Chi Minh, who would later play a key role in the Vietnam War. The anti-colonial struggle had a significant influence on the political and social dynamics in Vietnam, laying the groundwork for later conflict with the US and the communist insurgency.
After World War II, Vietnam found itself in a delicate position. The French tried to regain control, leading to the First Indochina War (1946-1954). This conflict ended with the Geneva Accords, which divided Vietnam into a communist north and an anti-communist south. This division laid the foundation for further conflict as both sides sought a unified Vietnam under their own ideologies.
Between 1957 and 1965, the South Vietnamese government, backed by the US, struggled to maintain control over a growing communist insurgency led by the Viet Cong. This period was characterized by guerrilla warfare, terrorist campaigns, and political instability. The US deepened its involvement by providing economic and military support to the South Vietnamese government in an effort to stem the spread of communism.
From 1965 to 1969, the conflict escalated as the US became directly involved in the war. This led to major military operations such as Operation Rolling Thunder, which involved intense bombing raids on North Vietnam. The US policy of "search and destroy" aimed to destroy Vietcong base areas, but often resulted in heavy civilian casualties and destruction.
The use of technological weapons, including napalm and agent orange, radically changed warfare and caused widespread damage to the Vietnamese landscape and population. An important event in this period was the Tet Offensive of January 1968, where North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces launched joint attacks on major cities in South Vietnam. Although militarily unsuccessful for the communists, it shocked the American public and strengthened anti-war sentiment.
Another controversial event was the My Lai massacre, where American soldiers killed hundreds of civilians. This incident caused further criticism of the American involvement and highlighted the moral and political implications of the war.
From a Vietnamese perspective, the war was a struggle for national self-determination and freedom from foreign domination. Both North and South Vietnamese made huge sacrifices, with millions of civilian and military casualties. The North Vietnamese and Vietcong believed they were fighting for the reunification of their country under a socialist government, inspired by ideas of independence and communist solidarity.
For the US, the Vietnam War was an integral part of their broader Cold War strategy. The Americans believed in the "domino theory", which claimed that the fall of one country to communism would lead to the fall of other countries in the region. Therefore, they saw Vietnam as an important battleground to prevent communist expansion. However, the war exacted enormous costs, both in terms of human lives and financial expenditure, and deeply divided American society.
The Vietnam War had far-reaching international consequences. This not only affected the relationship between the US, the Soviet Union, and China, but also strengthened the global anti-war movement. The war showed how a local conflict can escalate into a global crisis, with direct and indirect involvement of major world powers.
As the war continued, the anti-war movement in the US gained momentum. Demonstrations, protests, and political pressure led to a change in policy. In 1969, President Nixon announced the "Vietnamization" of the war, which aimed to gradually transfer the burden of war to the South Vietnamese forces.
By 1973, the US and Vietnam reached a peace agreement, and US troops officially withdrew. But the conflict continued until 1975, when North Vietnam captured Saigon and unified Vietnam under communist rule. In the US, the Vietnam War is still considered one of the most controversial and traumatic conflicts in their history. This led to a reevaluation of foreign policy and military involvement. The war deeply scarred the American collective memory and led to a greater skepticism towards government decisions and military intervention.
In Vetnam, the war is remembered as a heroic struggle for freedom and reunification. It is celebrated in national commemorations and monuments. The war laid the foundations for modern-day Vietnam, which is still proud of its victory against a major world power.
The Vietnam War was more than just a conflict between North and South Vietnam. It was an extension of the Cold War, shaped by ideological, political, and strategic factors that influenced global political dynamics. The legacy of the war still resonates today, serving as a reminder of the complex and often tragic consequences of geopolitical struggle.

2024.05.20 08:59 mining_moron A Primer on Kyanah Religion: Part II Road to Hope

...to continue, this is what actual worship of Kyanah gods looks like in practice.
As for what day-to-day faith looks like for religious packs, it naturally varies greatly from region to region, but generally consists of two goals: attracting the attention and admiration of their chosen gods to ensure that said gods will want to keep them in the next iteration of the universe, and maximizing the influence of their favorite gods to ensure that they'll have the power to do so, by advertising and proselytizing for the god in question, donating to temples, or even becoming a pack of religious scholars. Those who are casually religious only do the first task; those who are devoutly religious do both. Like so many other aspects of Kyanah culture, the north-south divide, likely caused by the large number of impact ranges on or near the equator, plays a huge role in religious practices.
For northern hemisphere cultures, religion is usually a personal and private matter, handled primarily at the pack level or even, to an extent, the individual level: it is not unheard of for individuals to worship one or more gods on their own in addition to those that the rest of their pack worships, especially when said individual is from a different region or culture than the rest of the pack. Attitudes towards this from the rest of their pack can vary from acceptance to indifference to hostility. Gods with a large local following in some city-state often have one or more temples devoted to them, where offerings can be made to the relevant god; they will often sell thematic items that can be sacrificed as sacrificed as gifts to the temple's god, with the idea being that giving up time and worldly resources demonstrates faith and loyalty that will make said god want to keep them in the next iteration. Additionally messages and questions to a particular god can also be directed to religious experts (who may or may not live at the temple, depending on the local culture and which god the temple is devoted to) termed toryatkiot (literally "student", as in a pack who studies a particular god, learning about and in a sense "from" them, to understand that god and their behavior; though "monk" would be a more human-centric translation). These temple visits are occasionally done by packs to more effectively keep their names in the minds of the gods, or when turning to faith to solve some crisis, but for more everyday worship, where the services of professionals aren't needed or there isn't a temple nearby for a particular god, many packs will have private shrines in their own homes; as an analogy, using these shrines is kind of like cooking at home versus going to a restaurant. Major gods in the northern hemisphere are often quite commercialized, with plenty of merch and popular media centered on them.
In the southern hemisphere, religion tends to be somewhat more centralized and communal, with regular, periodic mass-worship sessions for various gods, where religious leaders explain key aspects of a particular god, and instructions on righteous behavior and gaining their favor, to the gathering. The gods themselves aren't so often commercialized in the south, where it's more common to see them in a more abstract and impersonal light (almost more like processes than beings), and Kyanah in southern cultures tend to be less likely to be atheist and more likely to be devoutly religious. However, being deeply and fundamentally religious does not generally equate to a "thou shalt not have fun" attitude; on the contrary, these mass worship sessions are frequently filled with drunken revelry, lots of food, and loud music...there has to be something to draw in congregations, after all. On the other hand, authoritarian governments in the southern hemisphere frequently use these mass worship sessions as an efficient way to spread propaganda to the masses, with some even making attendance mandatory for this reason.
The Kyanahs' general distrust of social structures and institutions larger than their own packs extends to their religious views as well; just as there aren't discrete religions with labels, there aren't high level religious leaders with global influence like a Pope, nor definitive holy books that huge sections of the population acknowledge as the truth. The Temple Alphas in the north will often only oversee a handful to a few dozen packs of toryatkiot, and even in the south, mass-worship sessions have no more than a few thousand packs at the absolute maximum, and usually far less, on the order of dozens to maybe a hundred. That is not to say that there aren't theological texts with broad appeal, that have sold millions or even billions of copies over decades or centuries, and been translated hundreds of times, but most Kyanah won't be like "this is the one true holy book, no other religious book could possibly have anything useful to say" and instead pick and choose whatever teachings they want from whatever texts they want. Not doing so is in fact seen as uneducated and spiritually lazy behavior that is unlikely to lead to being retained in the next iteration.
Also common to both hemispheres is the general desire to be remembered and liked by at least one god, a desire which manifests in their culture in several ways. "Forgotten" or "broken up" is probably the closest translation to the human term "damned"; "may you be forgotten" is a very strong insult in many cultures. Similarly, rather than being buried or burned, dead bodies are usually taken out into the wilderness and left in the open to desiccate, with their packmates being brought to rest with them when they die. When one member of a pack dies, the others will often build a cairn at the pack's final resting place; stacking stones is a common Kyanah art form in both religious and secular contexts, and different types and shapes of stones often have specific meanings. Rich and powerful packs, especially in ancient times, would often commission large and elaborate monuments at their final resting place to really draw the attention of the gods. Also of note is that religion and science have rarely been in serious conflict on the Kyanah homeworld; as the gods are believed to act in a predictable and logical manner, science can simply be reframed as understanding and predicting the actions of the gods. Indeed, many packs who have made great scientific discoveries were also devoutly religious, and in general, religious adherence has not declined by much even in the wake of advanced science and technology. Depending on the time period, global prevalence of atheism tends to range between 10 and 30 percent for at least the past few centuries, often spiking during tumultuous times when many Kyanah have doubts about a self-optimizing universe. The exact prevalence of atheist views can be much higher or lower depending on geographic region as well.
Of course, Kyanah religious beliefs are often twisted and manipulated by those seeking worldly gain, much like human religious systems. There are corrupt toryatkiot who convince others that they can buy their way into the next iteration, in order to make a tidy profit. Mass-worship leaders who spread government propaganda disguised as religious teachings. Cultists who make up gods solely for a self-serving agenda. Politicians who start religious wars, believing that the best way to spread the influence of their favorite gods is at gunpoint. However, state institutions do seem to have largely secularized in recent centuries, a trend that has accelerated with the decline of Utopianism, with the gods being used less and less frequently as a direct justification for political and military action.

2024.05.20 08:51 mamafihin0kcui Clear and Secret Goals of Moscow

In mid-May 2024, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (the upper house of the parliament) considered the issue of reappointing Sergey Lavrov to the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (which he has held since March 2004). During the parliamentary consultations, the head of the diplomatic service of the Russian Federation, among other things, commented on the ongoing war of Russia against Ukraine, as well as the Peace Conference in the Swiss Confederation to find a way to a just end to this war.
According to Lavrov, Russia is not afraid to decide the fate of Eastern Europe by a military confrontation with Ukraine, but also by an armed conflict with the states of the West. “We are not afraid of it, we are ready for it,” Russia's chief diplomat said in a threatening tone. It should be noted that during the last month, some influential politicians and officials of the Russian Federation also stated that the Russian army would firmly and mercilessly destroy all foreign contingents on the territory of Ukraine, if they really were there.
As for the upcoming Global Peace Summit (BĂźrgenstock resort, canton of Nidwalden, near the city of Lucerne, June 15-16), which is convened by the government of Switzerland, Lavrov was openly indignant about the fact that Russia was not invited there, although he stated that he would not go there, even in the case of an invitation from Bern.
Lavrov expressed deep regret over the fact that Sweden and Finland ceased to be neutral states both de facto and de jure, while Austria and Switzerland lost their neutrality. All of them support Ukraine today, the head of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded with regret. At the same time, the main Russian diplomat did not ask very important question why all the listed states, neutral until recently, suddenly decided to unite in supporting Ukraine!?
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also accused Kyiv, Bern and Western countries of ignoring other peace initiatives put forward by China, Brazil, the Republic of South Africa and, finally, the League of Arab States. Moreover, according to Lavrov, the most comprehensive and deeply developed (which indirectly indicates that it was created in close coordination between Beijing and Moscow) is the peace plan of the Chinese communists.
Finally, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation promised that his state would force Kyiv/the West to consider the sure gains that Russian troops have achieved on the ground. It should be recalled that the updated text of the Constitution of the Russian Federation refers to the annexation of Crimea and four regions of Ukraine (Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson). There is no doubt that Russian legislators are ready to introduce an amendment to the Basic Law of the Russian Federation on the accession of the Kharkiv region as soon as possible.
Undoubtedly, Moscow will agree to some peace negotiations with Kyiv/the West only in case of recognition of its territorial claims (although some of them are purely illusory in nature). However, even if we imagine that a peace agreement between democratic Ukraine and totalitarian Russia is reached, there is no doubt that it will be used by the Kremlin as the time window for a new invasion of Russian troops, first into other regions of Ukraine, then into Moldova, and other post-Soviet states.

2024.05.20 08:49 geetarawat2002 Property Registration in India in 2024 Key Steps & Guidelines

To lessen the inconveniences that were once an intrinsic part of the property registration procedure in India in 2024, the state government has devised new techniques for registering property. In other words, you are no longer required to walk around and visit government offices, where you will have to wait in long queues to register your property. The registration task can now be completed using online channels, which can be an expedient way of completing the house registry process and saves a significant amount of time.
Property Registry
The legal process is known as the property registry. This is done to generate or update the owner's name entry in the government database. The home registry process involves paperwork linked with properties filed with local authorities under Section 17 of Registration in 1908.
Is it mandatory to register the property?
Registering the brand-new property in your name is not an option. All buyers must register their property under Section 17 of the Registration Act. As the procedure advances, home buyers and property owners are obliged to pay the same amount of the deal value as the stamp duty to their state government, plus 1% of the registration fee.
In most states, home buyers must go to the sub-registrar's office to register their property. Some jurisdictions have developed a variety of services to assist landlords with the property registration procedure in order to provide time-saving and effective registration services. The owners of flats and plots can register online using the internet.
Owners and buyers should be aware that withholding registration to save money may cost them more money in the long run, and it is a risky action. Without registration under the owner's name in official records, the owner may be unable to show ownership of the property in any future deposits.
Online Property Registration
If you live in a state that offers offline property registration services, there are various elements to consider to help you complete the procedure.
Your appointment will be scheduled only when you have paid the applicable stamp duty and registration payments online. You will have to pay using a debit card, net banking, or credit card. Keep in mind that most states prefer and use online payments. Buyers may be able to pay with a check or cash in various areas of the state.
If the deal's worth exceeds 50 lakh rupees, the buyer is entitled to and must pay 1% of the TDS based on the property value. They will need to pay the amount online and print off their receipt. Ensure that you receive the receipt as required throughout the kind of verification.
Process of Online Property Registration
Several states provide websites for registering property online. For example, in Bangalore, you can access Kaveri internet services. To proceed with the process, you must first register as a user on these websites. You'll need to enter the following information:
Execution Date
Sale deed: Party number
Document registration
You will also need to provide the following:
Proof information for the purchasers and witnesses
Property value
Property nature
You will be required to provide the following documents during the registration of the property:
Identity evidence, such as PAN and Adhaar
Please include two passport photos of all parties involved, as well as authority power if one party is representing another.
Resolution copy, authorization letter, if a corporation is a party.
Property card
Payment acknowledgment for stamp duty
Registration Fee
Steps for Online Property Registration
Here is a list of the actions you must take for online property registration:
Step One: Application
To create a draft, you will need to fill in all the information required by the legislation on registration websites.
Step 2: Printing
Printing Draft printing on stamp paper with the signatures of all parties involved.
Step 3: Approval.
The online property registration websites will handle the office's inquiries and register the property with the appropriate authorities. Nonetheless, all party members must be present in the sub-registrar's office during the property registration. Visit https://legaldocs.co.in/property-registration to begin the online property registration process.
Documents You Should Carry
You will need to purchase the e-stamp papers and pay the stamp duty and registration fees online. You will need to present the documents to the office sub-registrar for verification.
The following is the information you will need to insert:
Property Description: Area, Pin Code, Number
Property types include agricultural, flat, and plot.
Modes of ownership include gift, lease, and gift.
Details about the owner, such as name, occupation, parents' names, etc.
Property proofs include attorney power and title deeds.
It is critical information to remember, and you should attempt to complete the process with the assistance of a lawyer and a property broker. It would be ideal if you never used a third party in the process.
Many states have portals to help people register their properties. These include information on model deeds and stamp duty rates, as well as instructions for parties to commence the registration process. However, to complete the property registration process, an individual must visit the sub-registrar's office.

2024.05.20 08:48 milka3e Is PERA CET a freaking scam or what

I applied for PERA CET like 4-5 days ago, paid the fees (Rs. 1500) and got my application form too. Downloaded the pdf and guess what, my DOB was legit 0000-00-00. I had checked my form thrice before submitting because that fucking website doesn't have basic options to save your credentials or anything. I contacted them through their support number and they said they'll do the changes and contact me back. There was no contact until the next day, and I grew anxious. So I called the website number back, and it was another person. Told them the same shit and they said they'll correct the info and I'll see it corrected on my Admit Card. I asked them for their name (future references) and they said that they can't reveal because of some policy.
Skip to today, 20 May 2024. I check the website for Admit Card and go to the link. Entered my login details (registered email id & phone number). It did log in. But that fucking website is now showing "Sorry, could not find your application. Please contact support."
I'm calling their helpline number for the past two hours and goddamn no one is picking up.
I feel scammed. My MHTCET didn't go as well as I hoped and neither did my boards. I thought I had a second chance with this exam, applying to MIT or Somaiya... I just feel so tired. I don't wanna give up hope, but I feel so terrible right now.

Finding the perfect property in Jodhpur, a city renowned for its rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning architecture, can be an exciting yet challenging endeavor. Whether you're looking for a luxurious villa, a cozy apartment, or a commercial space, Jodhpur offers a variety of options to suit different needs and budgets. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the process of finding a property for sale in Jodhpur.

1. Determine Your Budget and Requirements

Before you start your search, it’s essential to clearly define your budget and requirements. Consider the following factors:
  • Type of Property: Are you looking for residential property (like apartments, villas, or houses) or commercial property (such as offices or retail spaces)?
  • Location Preferences: Which areas in Jodhpur are you interested in? Do you prefer being close to the city center, historical landmarks, or in quieter suburban areas?
  • Size and Amenities: How many bedrooms and bathrooms do you need? Are you looking for specific amenities like a garden, parking space, or a swimming pool?
  • Future Plans: Consider your future needs, such as proximity to schools if you have children, or accessibility to public transport if you commute frequently.

2. Research Online Property Portals

One of the most efficient ways to find properties for sale in Jodhpur is through online property portals. These platforms offer a wide range of listings with detailed information and images. Some popular property portals include:
  • 99acres.com: Offers a vast database of properties for sale across India, including Jodhpur. You can filter your search based on location, budget, and property type.
  • MagicBricks.com: Another extensive platform that provides listings for residential and commercial properties. It also offers virtual tours and detailed descriptions.
  • Housing.com: Known for its user-friendly interface, Housing.com allows you to search for properties by area, price, and amenities.
These websites often provide additional tools like price trends, neighborhood insights, and loan calculators to help you make informed decisions.

3. Engage with Local Property Dealer in Jodhpur

Real estate agents have in-depth knowledge of the local market and can offer valuable insights and guidance. Engaging with a reputable local real estate agent can significantly streamline your property search. Here’s how to choose the right agent:
  • Experience: Look for agents with several years of experience in the Jodhpur real estate market.
  • Reputation: Check online reviews and ask for references from previous clients.
  • Specialization: Some agents specialize in residential properties, while others focus on commercial real estate. Choose one that aligns with your needs.
Real estate agents can provide access to exclusive listings, arrange property viewings, and assist with negotiations and paperwork.

4. Visit Real Estate Exhibitions and Events

Real estate exhibitions and events are excellent opportunities to explore multiple properties under one roof. Developers and real estate agents showcase their latest projects, and you can directly interact with them to get more information. These events often feature:
  • Special Discounts: Exhibitors may offer exclusive discounts and deals during the event.
  • Information Sessions: Attend seminars and workshops to learn about the latest trends and developments in the Jodhpur real estate market.
  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with industry professionals and other potential buyers to exchange insights and experiences.

5. Explore Local Listings and Classifieds

In addition to online portals, traditional methods like local listings and classifieds can also be effective. Look for property listings in:
  • Local Newspapers: Many property owners and real estate agents advertise in the real estate sections of local newspapers.
  • Community Notice Boards: Check notice boards in community centers, clubs, and local businesses for property sale advertisements.
  • Real Estate Magazines: Publications dedicated to real estate often feature listings, market trends, and expert advice.

6. Utilize Social Media and Networking

Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn can be powerful tools for finding properties. Join local real estate groups, follow property pages, and connect with real estate professionals. Here’s how to make the most of social media:
  • Join Groups: Look for groups focused on Jodhpur real estate or property investments. Members often share listings, advice, and market insights.
  • Follow Pages: Follow real estate agencies, developers, and property portals to stay updated on new listings and market trends.
  • Post Inquiries: Don’t hesitate to post inquiries about your property requirements. Community members and real estate professionals may respond with helpful suggestions and offers.

7. Conduct Property Visits and Inspections

Once you have shortlisted potential properties, schedule visits and inspections to evaluate them in person. Here’s what to keep in mind during property visits:
  • Condition of the Property: Check the overall condition, including structural integrity, plumbing, electrical systems, and any signs of damage or maintenance issues.
  • Legal Documentation: Ensure the property has clear titles and necessary approvals from local authorities. Verify ownership documents, encumbrance certificates, and other legal paperwork.
  • Neighborhood and Amenities: Assess the neighborhood’s safety, cleanliness, and accessibility to amenities like schools, hospitals, and public transport.

8. Consider Future Developments

When choosing a property, it’s important to consider future developments in the area. Upcoming infrastructure projects, commercial developments, and transportation improvements can significantly impact property values. Here’s how to stay informed:
  • Local Government Websites: Check local government websites for information on planned infrastructure and development projects.
  • Real Estate News: Follow real estate news websites and publications to stay updated on market trends and future developments in Jodhpur.
  • Community Meetings: Attend community meetings and forums to learn about upcoming projects and their potential impact on the neighborhood.

Conclusion: Making an Informed Decision

Finding the perfect property in Jodhpur requires careful planning, thorough research, and strategic decision-making. By leveraging online property portals, engaging with local real estate agents, and staying informed about market trends and future developments, you can navigate the property market with confidence.
Remember to visit properties in person, verify legal documentation, and consider the long-term potential of the area. With patience and diligence, you can find a property in Jodhpur that meets your needs and aspirations.
Whether you’re looking for a luxurious villa, a cozy apartment, or a commercial space, Jodhpur offers a diverse range of options

2024.05.20 08:43 Spirited-Self-3111 Is this a good essay for my Grade 12 history exam?

2024.05.20 08:40 i_am_a_mooncake public transport qs

genuinely just wondering if theres a reason la public transport hasn’t seemed to improve? i’ll be attending college in la + visit frequently bc i live close and honestly ik the public transport isn’t awful but there’s sm room for improvement. & when i go online it seems like everyone knows the problems w la public transport—buses drive slow/stop frequently/not reliable + metro is unsafe/too concentrated in dtla + no high speed rails which is generally needed in an area as large as la (feel free to correct me or add on lol). idk like it seems like everybody has an itemized list of what we need to fix with la public transport but it hasn’t seemed to improve. is it just bc the government doesn’t care & won’t pay for it?? if so can i like donate somehow? this is honestly miserable & i’ve been somewhat depressed abt the fact i’ll be living in a city with as much to do as la for the next 4 years but have virtually no good way to get around other than overpriced ubers lmfao

2024.05.20 08:27 disclaimerofopinion_ Voter list photo not official

I(23F) went for voting today for the first time and I came across something rather peculiar. The voter list that the ground volunteers verified me against and cancelled my name out upon my arrival at the booth had a photo of me that is not on any official document of mine. Not Aadhar card. Not Pan card. Not driving licence. Not passport. I don't have a voter ID particularly made.. I went for voting basis my other documents after verifying status of my eligibility/voting station. The picture attached to that list they held had almost like selfie, I think some 3-4 year old atleast, with some fancy earrings that I would most DEFINITELY would not upload anywhere official(Govt. related) no matter how provisional it may be. I thought of RTI or writing a query to Election commission. Can you please help me with what my options are or what other likely explanations there can be for such mishap. Makes me wonder to what extent government has access to our data.

2024.05.20 08:22 TooWorried10 Why didn’t Japan just attack Hawaii’s civilian populations over Pearl Harbor?

Why didn’t the Japanese attack fleet simply just go after major cities in Hawaii over military targets?
I feel like bombing cities like Honolulu and Pearl City would have sent a harsher message to Americans than taking out a few boats.
It’s so weird to me that Japan, such a vicious enemy at that time, spent their one free attack on Americans on Pearl Harbor over an aerial Nanking that they could have. It almost felt like they took it “easy” on America and Hawaii.
Was attacking civilians over Pearl Harbor ever discussed? Was it ever even in the cards?
