2024.05.20 01:17 Cwaturner Bed Suggestions?

Hi, Iā€™m looking for suggestions on beds that work well for your Malā€™s.
We have been through K9 Ballistics, Impact, plus another random ā€˜toughā€™ bed off Amazon. She has chewed either a hole, the corner off, or otherwise rendered each of these beds useless or unsafe for her in her crate. We are using an Impact collapsible crate, so the sizing is non standard.
We understand that no product is ā€˜indestructibleā€™ especially to a Mal! But Iā€™m looking for suggestions on other options that have worked well for others.
Thank you

Do you think this Channel Lock guide is reliable enough to go buy a 6mm open end wrench ?
I might want to put a wrench on this torx driver....for some reason I can't find a 6mm wrench in my kit....do you think a Channel Lock adjustable is close enough tolerance to gauge the shank size and buy a single wrench ? I'm only using the adjustable to get an idea of the shank size, it's not written on the screwdriver, I can't use the adjustable in this use case, it's way to big. You'll have to zoom in to the jaws to see the ruler.

2024.05.20 01:12 MrAwesome Steam Deck Mega FAQ. Start here before you ask!

TL;DR

"I'm not reading all that, get to the point!"
Yes you should buy one, check ProtonDB to see if the game will work on the Deck and how to run it, yes the LCD is fine but also yes the OLED is better, don't go overboard with accessories or tweaking unless you know you need it, and we've already recommended games / given advice for the specific situation you're asking about so please search the subreddit first before you ask your question!

Purchasing / Accessories

"Should I buy a Steam Deck?"
Do you have the money? Yes.
"Should I buy a Steam Deck, or a ROG DoodooPeepee, or a Lenovo PoopooDookie?"
Look where you are. We're going to tell you to get the Deck, and we're going to be right. It's not perfect, it's a little janky, but it's absolutely amazing.
"Should I get the OLED or LCD?"
It depends. If money is an issue, or someone is offering you one at a huge discount, the LCD is perfectly fine! It's still an amazing system, and any FOMO is misplaced unless you really need better battery life.
The OLED is strictly better (better screen, better battery life, etc), but the overall experience is not that far off and they can run all of the same games at ~effectively the same fps.
"Should I get the official Dock?"
NO. It has a horrible bug with HDMI that will haunt your dreams. There are plenty of alternate docks that work perfectly, just Google "steam deck docks" and pick one. The JSAUX one is spoken of highly, and I can attest that my old UGREEN USB-C hub works perfectly as a dock.
"What accessories should I get?"
Overall... You don't need much, the Deck is great the way it is.
If you plan to play on a TV, definitely get a nice dock/hub.
A standard power bank with at least 45w charging is great for long plane/train rides.
A "ground loop isolator" is nice for getting rid of the loud buzz on wired headphones when charging.
Beyond that, just search the subreddit for "accessories" and you'll get tons of answers!
"What controller should I get?"
Do you want gyro?
If not, just any old controller is fine. XBox controllers seem affordable and high quality these days, and are well-supported.
If so, then check out DualShock 4, DualSense, 8BitDo Pro 2, and Switch Pro.
If you want back paddles and gyro, you'll want to check out the 8BitDo Pro 2 and the (pricey but amazing) DualSense Edge.
"What games should I buy?"
Search the subreddit! This is probably the most-asked question we get here, and there are literally thousands of threads full of great answers.
"I have a long flight coming up, what games should I buy?"
Search the subreddit! (Balatro.)
"What games are good for keeping battery use low?"
Search the subreddit! (Balatro. And/or streaming via Moonlight or Remote Play.)
"What games are good for playing in bed that don't spin the fan too loudly and wake up my partner?"
Search the subreddit! (Balatro. And/or streaming via Moonlight or Remote Play.)
"I'm on a really tight budget, what games can I buy for the deck?"
Search the subreddit! (Holocure. It's free.)
"I just bought my Deck, how long will it take to arrive?"
It depends, but 1-2 weeks is a safe bet.

Tweaking / Compatibility

"What should I tweak before I start playing games?"
Nothing. Don't change things until you're clear why you want to change it.
"Will run on the Deck?"
Check out ProtonDB.
"How can I get better performance on ?"
Check out ProtonDB.
Google it! "steam deck performance " will get you so many great threads and spreadsheets. If it runs, someone has tweaked it.
"Should I overclock my Deck? Should I enable PeePeePooPoo Ultra Performance Utils?"
No.
"How can I run my games from Epic/GOG/Ubisoft/EA?"
Check out ProtonDB, and search the subreddit/Google.
The answer is likely going to be Lutris or Heroic Launcher. Once you have the game set up there, both launchers have an "Add to Steam" option that should work perfectly.
"How can I use the Nintendo button layout?"
You, as a supreme ultrachad of taste and elegance, should simply go to the main menu, look under Controller, and select "Use Nintendo Button Layout".
(Note: this should work out of the box for essentially all games using Steam Input, and will swap the button glyphs in-game for most games. The only issue you'll have is that the Steam Deck UI will still show the actual physical button glyphs, instead of the superior-layout buttons that you expect (so X/Y and A/B will be backwards from what you want).)
"Can I swap the physical buttons to match the superior Nintendo layout stored in my galaxy-sized brain?"
Unfortunately not, or at least not without getting custom buttons. The buttons on the deck are differently-shaped, and would feel very weird out of position.

Tips & Tricks

"How do I bring up the on-screen keyboard?"
STEAM + X.
(Or, for those giga-brained among you using the Nintendo layout, STEAM + Y.)
"The left trackpad scrolling doesn't work right in Desktop Mode!"
It's a scroll wheel. Rub counterclockwise to scroll up, clockwise for down.
"That's dumb. How do I change the controls for Desktop Mode?"
Open up Steam, then Settings > Controller > Desktop Configuration.
"I want to play Red Dead Redemption 2 or on a plane!"
LAUNCH THE GAME BEFORE YOU GET ON THAT PLANE, MY FRIEND. Make sure you can get all the way to the game itself. Many games require you to be connected to the internet either the first time the game launches, or the first time you've launched the game in a while.
"I hate trying to aim / use the mouse with the joysticks/pads!"
USE GYRO. USE GYRO. USE GYRO.
Go into the controller settings for your game, turn on gyro "As Mouse", and set it to activate on "Right Stick Touch" and/or "Right Pad Touch". Your console gaming life will never be the same.
"How can I type faster on the on-screen keyboard?"
Try using the trackpads. The left pad controls the left half of the keyboard, the right pad controls the right half. Takes some getting used to, but it's decently quick and doesn't require taking your hands off the sides to type on-screen.
"How can I switch the controls to gamepad mode (or back) in Desktop Mode?"
Hold the menu [...] button!
"I want custom menus, more button options, perfectly-tweaked joystick/gyro controls, etc."
Go to the controller settings for your game and look through community layouts!
If that's not good enough, customize one of them or make your own. Steam Input is ridiculously flexible.
(My favorite thing to do is to create an Action Layer called "util", set one of the back paddles to "Hold Action Layer - util", and then rebind a bunch of buttons in that Action Layer to essentially 2x the number of buttons on the Deck. Just hold down the paddle, press whatever buttons you need, and let go when you're done.)
"I want to open up my Deck to replace the . Anything I should know?"
TAKE OUT THE SD CARD FIRST.

Troubleshooting

"It's hanging forever after a reboot, what do I do?"
Either connect it to Ethernet with the dock, get near a known wifi network (doesn't always work), or turn it off and then hold the [...] button while you press the power button and then select the second option in the list that appears on the screen.
"After an update, I'm seeing an error that says 'Something went wrong while displaying this content'!"
Decky, or one of your Decky plugins is not updated yet and is broken. If you can open Decky, try to update your plugins or disable them one-by-one to figure out which one is broken. If you can't open it, go to desktop mode and update/uninstall Decky by running the installer again. If you're still struggling, search the subreddit for "decky broken" and see what other people have done to fix it.
This can also happen if you're using the Beta channel. I believe Decky has their own beta/prerelease channel that makes this happen less often.
"When streaming on my OLED deck with Moonlight or Steam Remote Play, I randomly get periods of really intense lag!"
It's a long-running networking bug that has inexplicably never been fixed. Just restart Moonlight, or turn wifi off and on again.
"My wifi is slow on the Deck!"
Check that you're using the 5Ghz band, if possible.
"Game downloads/updates are really slow!"
Go to "Downloads" in the main settings menu and make sure "Download region" is near you.
"I can't connect my Deck to my TV via HDMI with the official dock, it just shows a black screen and doesn't connect!"
You will need to _unplug every cord_ except HDMI from the dock, connect to the TV, and then plug everything else back in. Every single time. I'm so sorry. You may want to just get a better dock. They still haven't fixed this and I don't think anyone knows why.
"Oh God my Deck shows an error when I boot what do I do?"
Search the error, but the likely answer will be to do a full system recovery: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1B71-EDF2-EB6D-2BB3

2024.05.20 00:59 FrunoCraft Wanted: Randomizer for N output containers

Unrelated to my previous post (different project)...
I want to make a minigame where I need to send random items to random containers. (Pretty much a variant of Tangos BoomBox from HC6. But if you don't know that game, the question here is pretty much independent from the game. Just think I'm distributing random powerups to random locations.) Random items is easy (standard dropper randomization).
But the random containers are more interesting. Let's say we're talking 8 output barrels (to allow for 2^3 randomization if I want to) that are spread out over a playing field of at most a 20x30 area. And let's say I'll send a random item every 2-5 seconds (tbd). What would be your solution to that?
The size would allow hopper or dropper chains for item transport, but water transport could be used as well. Also redstone components aren't a bottleneck. Speed isn't super crucial either.
I thought about setting up water streams, with sticky pistons as binary randomizers (pistons moving blocks that send items either one way or the other). Whenever an item is sent, all piston states are randomized. I'd need 7 pistons for 7 binary splits. But that isn't very compact, is it? :)

IWI Zion 16ā€ barrel ??
This may seem like a silly question or a noob question. And I get it. But Iā€™d really like to know from anybody that has any insight or experience with what Iā€™m asking. For my first AR I bought a IWI Zion 16ā€ barrel and I am very happy with the purchase. My question is does the Zion upper take any size lower ? Example from PSA 10.5ā€ barrel. What Iā€™m getting at is Iā€™d like to have a standard length 16 inch barrel set up and Iā€™d like to save a little bit not have to get a new SBR or pistol style set up and I just want to switch out the lower and upper. Any insight into this would be gratefully appreciated.S we

Hey guys, as stated in the title I want to compress a lot of old avi files to a more space efficient format.
I would like to keep as much quality as possible since the files itself are shot around 2005 (SD), my main concern is if i further reduce the quality the videos will be barely watchable.
What would be the best way of doing this?

2024.05.20 00:31 Rockinmypock How do you store your personal herbarium specimens?

How do you store your personal herbarium specimens? Currently I mount them on 8.5x11 acid free card stock and put them in EZ load sleeves and put those in a binder that I keep in a low humidity environment. But Iā€™m also trying to slowly move my herbarium over to more standard 12x18 sheets. My plan is to stack the standard sized ones carefully (and interleaved) inside some kind of box, like a bankers box. But I could use some input.
The newer specimens and the ones that will be mounted to standard sized sheets will not be ā€œhard mountedā€ with glue or tape, just heavy cotton thread. This is to make it easier for removal of specimens that are submitted to ā€œrealā€ herbaria so they may mount them as they see fit.
The plants I collect are abundant in the area they are collected from, and not under any kind of restrictions (endangered, vulnerable, etc). For the rare mistaken identity, these specimens would be submitted for accession into a ā€œrealā€ herbarium.

2024.05.20 00:02 Larrydp72181 Review of Dialed Motion Ibex system

Review of Dialed Motion Ibex system
I pre-ordered a Dual Ibex setup from Dialed Motion during the first time pre-order after I upgraded to a PR5000. I looked at the Ares/Athena but I have low ceilings and duct work to work around.
I received my order on Friday and was super impressed off the bat. Every item was individually packed with item name and picture of it (excellent attention to detail but I don't love having to clean up all of that cardboard haha). They also included a nicely printed instruction manual.
It took 3 guys about 2 hours to complete which would have been much less if we were properly caffeinated and had enough of the right sized Allen wrenches it would have gone smoother. We also ended up setting up the brackets the wrong way about 4 times šŸ˜ again caffeine would have helped.
We had to work around my Vendetta lever arms and gympin, I tried my first workout today and all I can say is WOW! Dialed Motion really put together an exceptional product, it is super smooth (easily the best pulley system I've used even for lat pulldown and rows!). I love that each unit is a 1:1 ratio and I was able to link my two systems together for a 1:2 pulldown / row.
Looking back at my setup, I don't know if I will get as much use out of my lever arms other than leg press, if I had a little bit more clearance I would have moved the arms to the back of my rack.
Here are some pics of my setup and how I used it today to work around the Vendettas. Let me know if you have any questions!

2024.05.19 23:56 Valhallas_Dragon Slayer Slayer Fruit

(based on Astaā€˜s Anti-Magic powers from Black Clover, inspired by Blackbeardā€™s Devil Fruit-draining ability)
Abilities: the user gains a unique power called ā€œNightmare Energyā€, this energy allows the user to ā€œdeactivateā€ other devil fruits by draining them of their energy turning any devil fruit wielder the user fights into a normal person (if only for a short time), the user can notably use this energy to conjure swords imbued with Nightmare Energy to fight their enemies with, the user can also move their swords around with telekinesis and use them like a hoverboard to fly through the air, the user can also fire sword beams made of Nightmare Energy and increase the size of their swords by imbuing them with extra Nightmare Energy (at the cost of draining their own stamina),
(the following swords will quickly drain the devil fruit powers of anyone who wields them, except for this fruitā€™s user because they alone are immune to their swordsā€™ DF-draining effects)
Devil Slayer (a Zweihander): the Devil Slayer is a big double-edged blunt sword, this sword cuts through devil fruit powered attacks and constructs with itā€™s edge and can deflect DF-energy based attacks with itā€™s flat side,
Devil Dweller (a Broadsword): the Devil Dweller is a blunt sword which not only cuts through DF-powered attacks/constructs, it can also absorb and copy other devil fruit abilities before releasing them for a one-use attack,
Devil Destroyer (a Konda sword): the Devil Destroyer is a blunt sword which possesses the unique ability to severe another devil fruitā€™s cause from itā€™s effect to completely nullify itā€™s powers, (example: letā€™s say a poison-DF user poisons your entire crew, the Devil Destroyer would then drain and absorb the devil fruit ability making as if it never happened in the first place, this can also reopen wounds healed with DF powers and even prevent reincarnation)
Devil Slasher (a Katana): the Devil Slasher cuts through and drains DF-powers upon contact, it also possesses the ability to only cut through what the user sees as a threat allowing them to cut through enemies while leaving allies unharmed,
Devil form: by holding a sword with both of their hands the user can channel Nightmare Energy though their body to make DF-based attacks less effective on them and physically transform the user into a winged devil-like form which increases their speed and temporarily gives them the ability to fly,
Awakening: (Paramecia Awakening; the user gains the ability imbue other objects or people with Nightmare Energy, anything from turning an entire battleship into a devil fruit user hunting weapon to turning your entire crew into DF-drainers, abeit people infused with Nightmare Energy canā€™t consume devil fruits otherwise theyā€™ll die),
Weaknesses: (standard devil fruit weaknesses), temporary DF-weakness nullification (while the userā€™s targets are drained they temporarily lose their weakness to seawater and can even swim again but they will regain their weakness over time), while the user can use Devil form to resist DF-attacks Haki attacks will still hit the user with full force,

2024.05.19 23:43 DeathHamsterDude How well does Foundry work for in person campaigns? There's a few specific things I need from a VTT for it.

[system agnostic]
Hi, sorry if this is a frequently asked question, but I have a few specifics that I felt it would be better to make a post about it than piece all the information separately.
Right now I'm creating maps, segmenting them into a3 size and getting them printed professionally. But the cost is high enough that I've been considering making a TV case to sit a TV into on my table and display maps there.
Things that I want in a vtt for this are:
The ability to support maps from wonder draft and dungeon draft which I use (I believe this is the case with Foundry).
The ability to use physical models but perhaps have an invisible or hidden marker I can move on my laptop to show line of sight etc for the models.
Do not want clutter on the screen, only the map if possible. If I can have the information on my screen and just display the map on the TV that would be helpful, but not necessary.
Will be rolling dice, casting spells etc. in person, pretty much all of the standard physical D&D things.
The ability to maneuver the map for larger maps as the PCs move about on them (assume this is fairly standard).
Using Improved Initiative for running combats, so don't need it in a vtt. Using One note for DM note taking, so don't need that either.
Will pretty much be running full homebrew games, not modules.
I know most of these are probably standard in a lot of vtts, but it's hard to tell for sure about some of them, so I thought I'd ask. If not, are there any other vtts you might recommend? Foundry is the one that strikes my fancy the most though, so would prefer it even if I have to mess around in the backend for it to work.
Besides that, I mostly run these sessions from a mid tier laptop that's a few years old at this stage. Is Forge a good option and worth the money do you think? I was looking at the game master tier.
Thanks for your help.

2024.05.19 23:34 NNeeccttaarriinnee [F4M] Romance between an alien felinoid and a human man. [Anthro, size difference, muscular female/andromorph, role reversal, story driven, sci-fi, multi-para]

My normal posts are 2-5 paragraphs. This is long because it's a starter.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
The sloping ground around the Kiaurk family mesa had been sculpted into shelves or terraces, and it was on one of those upper terraces that Kiaurk Nshurr now lounged beneath a pergola anchored to the striated stone face behind her. The mesa rose at her back: an enormous, looming, almost sheer outcrop that her family's dwellings had been carved into the face of. Wide, shallow steps cut into the artificial (but entirely convincing) sandstone wound their way up between landings and porticos leading inward, between tiny balconies shaded by bright solid-colored canopies, between rooms with flat walls and rounded corners that came jutting out to shadow the steps below. Rriigkhans rarely used glass as window barriers; smooth-edged holes had been cut through the rock in varying shapes and sizes. It could be difficult to tell which apertures were windows and which were entryways. A physical barrier that kept out the elements was obsolete in all but the crudest dwellings, though some of these larger holes were curtained with braided string or strips of cloth that served a purely decorative purpose.
From her high vantage point Nshurr could see the shelves stretching out below her as the base of the mesa leveled out to flattish terrain that was a wonderland of vegetation in muted rainbow colors: mustard yellows, clay reds, earthy browns and the occasional dash of sage or dusty blue. This scrubland lay like a blanket around everything below that was not part of the village between the mesas. Down there, adobe compounds never taller than two or three storeys seemed so squat compared to the mesas that Nshurr could see towering in the distance, many of those family mesas only a few hours walk from her own if she traveled by foot. The village sprawled, with tile parkways winding in serpentine fashion between the various buildings, courtyards, parks, and ponds. There were no property lines, no clear division of the land into neat little plots owned by the individuals who lived and worked in these places. It all seemed to be part of a whole, with a single unifying aesthetic. The village housed those rriigkhans of the lower castes, the kharratah and chelhautah, and the humans which were a caste all their own, haukagh-ar, except for a small number who lived with their masters in the caverns of the mesas or up on the plateau.
This planet, Sgarrl, terraformed over three hundred years ago, was home to more human servants than any other Ssaarian world ā€“ aside from Earth, of course, discovered eighty years ago. The fact that humans shared so much in common with rriigkhans made them the perfect species to incorporate into the rriigkhan caste structure as servants. They breathed the same mix of gases and required similar gravities, and their nimble little fingers were very useful for all sorts of work.
The rriigkhan language was not necessarily too complex for humans, but it was wholly unfamiliar ā€“ too many phonemes that did not fit comfortably in human mouths, from grunts to huffs, to rolling trills that might by voiced or not, sometimes rumbling out like a purr. To a human, Nshurr's name was a sigh and a trill, and yet she was accustomed to humans vocalizing her name in their heavy, slurring way: Na-Shuurr! Nasher! Sometimes simply: ɽĶ”r! which she recognized more easily as her name, or at least part of it, and not some random sounds.
Still, despite the weird pidgin humans had made of her language and their English, she liked the little creatures. She had come to live with her Grandmother on Sgarrl only days ago, and had never encountered them before. The males only stood as tall as her collar. The females were shorter still, much like the males of her own species.
To human eyes Nshurr was felinoid, with a muscular swimmer's body and the broad muzzle of a big cat, with watchful, forward-facing predator's eyes that seemed unexpectedly expressive, because rriikghans had almost as many muscles around their eyes as humans did around their mouths to convey the nuances of emotion. Despite being larger than even many Earth men, she was considered sleek by rriigkhan standards. She made up for that with her broader crest.
The rriigkhan crest was something like the crest of Utahceratops ā€“ a keratinized plate growing up out of the skull, except divided into three lobes instead of two, with scalloped edges along the outer rim. Unlike depictions of Utahceratops, the rriigkhan crest was not covered by skin. At least, not on the top. Thick ropy veins squiggled under velvet fur on the underside, closer to the neck. (A thick, arching neck muscular enough to support the weight of that crest meant that Rriigkhans walked with a stoop that made them seem hunchbacked, to humans.) The surface of the plate on top was often rough, even bumpy or corrugated like deer antlers in some areas, smooth in others. Every female crest had four tines jutting from the front ā€“ a pair several inches above the eyes, and another pair further up. Directly above the lowest set of tines were twin holes, the howrf channels, just big enough for a human to insert a finger. These holes were very much like nostrils ā€“ much deeper, but damp inside, and lined with short, fine hairs to protect the sensitive mucous membrane from debris. The organs housed within these channels were the heart of rriigkhan culture, the foundation of all relationships, of sex.
Male rriigkhans, of course, had only their neotonous crests: diminutive, mostly smooth with rounded edges, without tines or howrf channels. Cute.
Nshurr's crest was wider than average, her upper tines spaced further apart, and combined with a compact face this made her look top-heavy. (A human might say that she was more snow leopard than lion.) Most female crests did not interfere with the movement of the ears ā€“ highly mobile, highly expressive paddle shaped things ā€“ but the edges of Nshurr's crest did jut out enough to almost shield them.
That her crest was weighty, that it was inconvenient, that she was often aware of it ā€“ this was Nshurr's pride. Her long tail curled in pleasure when she caught males looking at it. Humans seemed to be intimidated by it sometimes, as if she might decide to gore them with her ā€œhorns.ā€ She considered herself a confident person; not a braggart, but self-assured, and to carry her jhekaah so visibly pleased her to no end.
Her fur was an almost peachy off-white, but a mask of pale peach shaded each seafoam green eye. The mask blended into the white further up her forehead until fur gave way to bone-tan crest, and was split between her eyes by the white of her nose. Oblong spots in that same peachy color, each blending from dark to light, streaked down her sides.
These weren't the natural colors of her distant ancestors. It was unheard of to see a rriigkhan who was not gene-modified in some way, even if those modded genes had been part of rriigkhan life for so long that no one thought of them as mods any longer. She also thought nothing of the subtitles her augmented reality implant displayed whenever a human spoke, AI translated to help her decipher the pidgin. AR was simply a part of her, had been since she was a kit.
Reclining as she was on a padded lounger in front of an iron brazier, full of cold ashes from last night's fire, Nshurr was dressed in a pale coral shift only a few shades darker than the peach of her fur. Medallions trailing fringes of cloth had been sewn onto the front bottom half of the knee-length garment. A row of those ornate medallions defined a plunging neckline that bared much of her chest, muscular and broad, possibly even masculine to a human. Her breasts were lower on her body and similar in appearance to a mare's udders: long nipples on a pudge of fat nestled close together on the pelvis, just above the place where her thighs joined her body. They were only small lumps beneath the shift when Nshurr stretched out her legs so that the thin fabric fell across them. It was the roundness of her hips and buttocks that marked her female to the human eye. (As if her crest didn't make that obvious!)
She was listening to the sound of two younger female cousins wrestling on a nearby terrace, and although from her vantage point Nshurr could not see them, she could imagine the scene from what she heard: Fherou and Lahk growling while they grappled with their arms, the crack of crest hitting crest and then the scrape of tine sliding against tine. Each was fighting to control the other's head, each trying to bite the other. It wasn't easy when each had a shaggy ruff to protect her neck, and any attempt to bite the other's face would be thwarted by an interposing crest. Rriigkhan hands were less dexterous than human hands, more pawlike with stubby fingers, but capable of delivering hard blows, and once or twice Nshurr heard a cousin snarl in response to a strike against her body.
The competitive pheromones her cousins exuded from their unextended howrfs, quite unconsciously, were beginning to make Nshurr's own heart beat faster. The end of her long tail, where it hung down from the reclining chair, lashed in agitation. She was beginning to imagine sinking her teeth into someone's skin herself, and if her cousins had not been so much younger and smaller than herself she might have gone down to their terrace to show them a thing or two. It was putting her off the human flute music she'd been listening to, fed directly into her own brain through her implant for her private enjoyment. (Certain aspects of human culture were very popular here on Sgarrl; she'd been curious about it.)
She did not feel like going inside to escape the pheromones; Nshurr craved the warmth of the sun on her fur, not the cool stone and artificial light of those warrens. Most of her male cousins had gone into the village for boating today. Well, perhaps she would go down and join them after all.

For this prompt I imagine you'd play a human servant, probably a new arrival to Sgarrl but maybe someone who was born there. Even though I've set up a situation where my character would have a lot of power and yours very little, I want to clarify that I'm not interested in abusing your character I am looking for a slow burn interspecies romance that develops naturally. This story may deal with power imbalances and even speciesism, but I'd like to explore those topics realistically.
I want to explore all aspects of loving relationship... Flirting, cuddling, kissing, lots of romantic scenes and character growth. My ā€œtypeā€ that I'm most attracted to are men with average bodies in the 40-60 age range, with realistic personality flaws. I am more than willing to tailor my character's personality and physical attributes to suit your tastes, within reason. I appreciate partners willing to do the same.
I prefer to reply more than once a day. 2-3 replies per day would be ideal, but I understand life gets in the way. I usually write 2-5 paragraphs, or 150-450 words per post. This starter is much longer than my typical post length, but my lengths vary according to need. If I'm introducing a new character or setting a scene, my post might go up to 1,000 words.
Please send a writing sample if you have none in your post history. No need to custom write anything for me, old samples are fine. Click here to PM me!

2024.05.19 23:02 stryderart Cavalier compared to the Duchess

Hiya, so i typically wear size 11/11.5 womenā€™s boots in D width (feet are approx 4 inches wide due to bunions). Itā€™s pretty impossible to find nice shoes for my feet anyway, but i was hopeful and and tried a size 12 standard width Duchess boot. Unfortunately it was too long and still not wide enough, and the wide width for womenā€™s only comes in black.
Since the menā€™s collection comes in D width standard, thereā€™s potentially a lot more styles that could fit me, but Iā€™m naturally concerned about the fit and design. I noticed that the cavalier looks really similar, obviously without the little label at the back. It might be a long shot but does anyone own both and might be able to share more about the differences between the womenā€™s duchess and menā€™s cavalier? Have any ladies here opted for menā€™s boots styles because of similar sizing issues? Are they fundamentally built differently? If I ordered the cavaliers, should I still size down as recommended? I have so many questions lol. Thanks in advance!!

2024.05.19 22:59 The--NERD What if Jax CAN escape the Circus, but willingly stays because he enjoys it, and is dragging everyone down with him?

So I watched Game Theory's newest TADC theory I was interested by the points that it made, but I think it ultimately came to the wrong conclusion about Jax being an NPC. Gooseworx could've been simply sizing up Caine as relentlessly tormenting people in the teaser episode to draw more attention, and the actual evidence for Jax being an NPC, can just as easily be concluded as him simply being the foil to Pomni, with greater understanding than he is letting on, as shown with his pin room. The chekov's gun of NPCs still has lots of opportunities for future episodes.
So, as compensation, I came to a different conclusion with Game theory's evidence, and some of my own.
Jax is willingly choosing to stay in the Circus, and preventing the others from catching on to find ways to escape.
Jaz clearly knows more than he let's on, with how he manages to have keys for everything without any explanation, which Ragatha notes as not being normal. He has the means to explore more and peal away at the curtain of the Digital Circus, yet tells Pomni they've all already tried to leave and Failed.
Jax treats people as simple entertainment, but even so, he should be able to work together with the others if he really wants to escape with his prior experience. Remember, he did bring Gangle and Kingar with him to hide from Kaufmo. He is willing to help or work with people out of absolute necessity.
If this is the case, why did he never begrudgingly work with the others on the absolute necessity of ESCAPING?
Simple, he could've already, but he doesn't want to. He prefers the Digital Circus to whatever hedonistic and shallow life he lived before. Gooseworx did comment that he deserves to be trapped there the most.
So instead, he continues living his past life through the others' suffering, a life free from consequences, where he imposes his will on everyone around him and they are forced to put up with him.
In addition to general sadism, he could then be tormenting the others as a means of submission, to be an obstacle that obstructs them from ever focusing on the bigger picture and escaping without his help.
His first response to Pomni's distress isn't to empathize or be blunt but fair, it's to give her the cold reality immediately, reinforce it by saying everyone else already tried to leave, and then mock her continously for the rest of the episode about her desire to escape.
Furthermore, remember that he was also the one to choose who to pair up as teams in the pilot. As noticed by Ragatha, he pairs up the two most unstable and despondent characters. Whilst he is the one who decides to go with Pomni and Ragatha.
If his sadism is a means of creating submission, then it makes perfect sense why he'd choose to go with Pomni and Ragatha. Pomni, because she's still having initial discontent and hoping to escape, and Ragatha, who maintains a positive attitude and tries to still help others with their situation, both are conflicts to his interests of preventing anyone from escaping. He leaves Gangle and Kingar alone because, in his eyes, they're already too far gone, therefore he has no need to accompany them.
He bullies Gangle because she still has enough reason left to suffer, whist largely ignoring Kingar, because, like a sadist, he realizes that Kinger is too innocent and friendly to give him any satisfaction in tormenting him, he wants a reaction.
To add to his influence of submission and blind acceptance, I noticed looking back at episode 2, the only seemingly affable thing he does without an obvious alterior motive is near the beginning. He playfully invities Zooble to come along for the adventure and mess around with the new AI. It's strange on rewarch, he may only want to torment Zooble, but the odd sincerity with which he invites her betrays his own demeanor. He knows Zooble hates him, he's bullied her as well in the pilot, and she hates adventures. He earnestly is attempting to hype her up, to make her interested in going on the adventures.
This small moment takes a dark twist under this new idea of willful misdirection. He wants her to give into the worthless entertainment. If his goal is to prevent the others from finding a way to escape, then Zooble refusing to go on adventures is a direct wrench in his plans, when he has no control or influence over them, they could do whatever they want.
Now, the last part of this puzzle to support this idea. What will this mean thematically? TADC is a story about existentialism and nihilism;questinging the value of your own reality.
Episode two ends on a bittersweet note, Pomni realizes she may still be trapped, but she discovers that she has the others to help her through it. Episode 2 also, as explained by gametheory, highlights the similarities between AI and Humans, but this can be taken in another direction, where the humans' lives aren't much different in the circus either, they both face impending insignificance and the threat of oblivion, so TADC will tell us something about the worth of our lives.
So then, how will this tie to Jax? Jax acts as a sorta foil to Pomni, as supported by Game theory and it's here in this funeral scene we get the first shred of humility from him. Whilst Pomni ends happier after attending Kaufmo's funeral, accepting her own vulnerability, Jax storms off with the tiny hint of emotion in his eyes, but repressing it as he refuses to attend.
This is a noteworthy moment of applying empathy to his character, but we must remember, Gooseworx has directly stated that Jax will be even worse in future episodes, and has nothing heroic in him. Therefore, I find it hard to believe he is feeling genuine sadness for Kaufmo, in a way that is actually selfless.
To reinforce the evidece of Gamethoery that Jax is worse than Caine and the true tormenter in the circus, now that him being an AI isnt the conclusin, him actively conspiring against the others gives more credence to this idea of him being the true villain, as he better fits the role of AM, the main antagonist of I have no Mouth and I must Scream, the primary inspiration for TADC, as he treats people like playthings and forces them to be stuck with him, in an attempt to repress his own suffering.
Now, let me recontextulize the funeral scene;when Ragatha brings up the topic of Funerals he isn't getting emotional over Kaufmo's, he's thinking of his own, and for a tiny moment, he realizes the grim reality that no one is gonna be attending his, but chooses to brush it aside.
He is the antithesis to Pomni, he is the anti role model who reflects horrible ways to cope with your existence, and more importantly, shows how he's hurting himself by choosing to live this way, depriving him of any true purpose. He chooses to stay trapped, so he may live a life without consequences, but under his anger, he's fearful and empty.
