I am 24 years old and I just wrapped up the first year of my Masters’ program. The important things are going well - I have a 4.0 GPA and I am on track to complete my thesis next year. I was also elected to my faculty’s student council. My supervisor is very supportive and believes in me - she described me as a shining example for other students in our lab.
Despite this, it feels like nothing else is going my way. I applied for scholarships/funding at the local and national levels. I have received nothing. I sought help from my peers who have received awards to help me with my application, and my supervisor has also supported me in writing them. I am an excellent writer, but yet, I’m always bested. Not to be mean, but even my less qualified peers have received scholarships.
Many organizations in my field are also hiring summer students. There is a demand for professionals in my field. I’ve had good luck in getting interviews, but I keep being rejected. In the rejection e-mails, the feedback is very positive, but the answer is always the same: they simply decided to go with another candidate. I interviewed for another position today. It went well, but given my trajectory of bad luck, I don’t feel optimistic. I just feel discouraged.
I like to think that everything will work out the way it’s intended to, but I keep taking Ls. I know I have the skills, but I feel like I’m not where I want to be. Am I destined to fail?

They later informed me that I wouldn't even have my own classroom.
For context, I am a high school chemistry teacher (going on 17 years, with 12 years at my current district). For familial reasons I have been commuting more than 2 hours each day to work for the last 3 years. I love my current position other than the commute. The admin is supportive, and my coworkers are great. There are challenges like any other teaching position (student engagement, absenteeism, etc...), but for the most part I really like where I am.
However, a chemistry teaching position opened up at a good high school (top 10% in my state) that is literally 10 minutes away from my home. This is a huge deal considering I commute so far each day. Long story short, I interviewed for the position, went through all of the hoops, and was offered the job! I asked a lot of the questions during the interview process, and I thought I had a good understanding of what the position entailed. It was bittersweet, but I prepared myself to move schools after 12 years to lessen my commute and to be closer to my home/family.
However, after I accepted the job and had put in my letter of resignation at my current school, I learned from another teacher at the new school that I wouldn't actually have my own classroom. Instead, I would have to bounce around class period to class period to teach chemistry in different rooms. This did not seem right to me, given that the interview panel and principal all put a high emphasis on doing lab work in science courses. As a chemistry teacher, I'd say more than half of my time is spent in the lab with students. I put a lot of work into setting up labs and creating good environments to learn in. How would I continue to do that if I don't even have a dedicated classroom? How could any science educator adequately teach without their own classroom space?
So I contacted the principal of the new school to verify if that was the case and he said yes, I would not actually have my own room. He said, "oh it's fine, it just how we do things here." I'm sorry....what? That's not really an answer.
In speaking with him and a couple of the other science teachers, it seems that all of the chemistry teachers at the school share the exact same labs and same lesson plans. This is in part because a lot of them have to swap rooms throughout the day, and so setting up new materials for other labs is not really possible. The individual teachers have little to no autonomy in how they teach their subject. This was something I specifically asked about in the interviews because autonomy as a teacher is very important to me. I was told that I would have autonomy with the curriculum and could teach the material in whatever way I found best as long as the same standards were being met on a common assessment. That seemed totally reasonable, but the exact opposite of that is the reality of the situation. The principal told me on the phone today that I "could teach things in a different way, if the other science teachers also agreed and wanted to do it my way too. But everyone would need to do the same thing in the end."
Needless to say, I was floored by his responses. I can't help but feel that I got the "bait & switch" as one might say. Am I overreacting? Does it seem normal to anyone else that a chemistry teacher would be expected to be in a different classroom each class period of the day? Does it seem normal that I would have my labs/lesson dictated by my coworkers rather than myself? Please tell me this is not the norm and I am not crazy.
TL,DR: I took what I thought was a fantastic chemistry teaching position for next year only to learn after accepting that I wouldn't even have my own classroom and what I teach would be dictated by my coworkers.

Ian moved like a lynx through the dark corridors and damp lawns of the university campus, with Sara close at his heels.
"Shhh," Ian hissed, stopping abruptly, holding his arm out to stop Sara from gaining too much ground. Sara slowly inched closer to Ian as to make themselves harder to spot. Campus security had been patrolling more vigorously for the past week since the body was discovered. And now, the entire campus was on high alert, with a strict curfew in effect.
Daisy, was an extremely outgoing sophomore whose body was found on the outskirts of campus, floating in the lake, just paces away from where Sara and Ian were now brazenly headed.
Rumor had circulated quickly throughout the college that it was her boyfriend at the time who did it; a hot-headed captain of the undergraduate rowing team, who was known to have a hair-trigger temper and an ego to match, Jake. Jake had gone on bereavement the very same day of the discovery of Daisy's body and was rushed back to his parent's estate in a jet-black Suburban - parents who had been generous donors of the university. The deep pockets that Jake came from only fueled more rumors that Jake was somehow protected during the police investigation of Daisy's death, which had been ruled fouled play, but so far remained unsolved.
The university was in total chaos with families, police, journalists, and news outlets pouring onto the campus grounds. Now almost a week later, things were just starting to quiet down, but despite things slowly returning to normal, campus security had doubled, and patrols were almost impossible to get around. Due to the nature of the crime, it being unsolved, and the influx of press and police, Ian and Sara hadn't been to the apiary since the news broke.
Ian clutched Sara's hand to let her know that he was about to continue forward in a new direction away from the sweeping flashlight of the patrol officer, and off they went into the cover of darkness to witness it again - not at all worried a killer might be on the loose somewhere near campus, or even at the very same university.
TWO WEEKS EARLIER
"I'll take a medium dark roast, black," said Ian drearily. Sara waited close by at the condiment counter trying to seem not as nervous as she was, after all she was the one who had asked him out.
"Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into," Sara thought to herself spinning her iced coffee that was resting on the condiment bar, to swirl in in the two pumps of vanilla and packet of honey to make sure it was all perfectly mixed.
"How about a window booth?" Sara said to Ian as he carefully walked towards her with his piping hot coffee and set it down at the condiment bar next to her iced coffee and waved his hands to cool off them from the heat.
"Whoa, that *is* freshly brewed," Ian said now blowing on his hands. "Who knew regular college students could brew scalding, world-class coffee, such as this." He said sarcastically. He continued placing a lid on top and looking at Sara, said, "Sounds good," pausing to allow her to guide him to the window booth she had in mind.
Sara let out a deep sigh as she sank into her seat, "Whew, that lab was so much easier with you here." She took a sip of her iced coffee and looked out the window at the passing students and the quad that was in full majestic bloom. "It's so pretty, right?" she said, gesturing to the cherry blossom trees in the courtyard and then looking at Ian.
Ian nodded his head while blowing on his steaming cup, and gave a short "Mhm," and then took a careful sip of his piping hot coffee. As he set it down he let out a small groan, "Oh, I definitely needed this. Thanks for the invite Sara, and sorry about being late. It won't happen again. Scouts honor." Ian gave a salute to Sara, which made her chuckle.
"So, are you going to tell me what is up with you - not to sound like your mother," Sara quickly added. "You just seem to be under some kind of stress and obviously I care about what my lab partner is up too because, you know, your bags are big enough to put groceries in." Sara jabbed pointing to Ian's sunken and tired eyes, which now seem to have a bit more life entering back into them. "Coffee's working though," she teased.
"Do I look that bad?" Ian said, and then continued, "Well, thanks for the coffee and I guess…noticing." He said sheepishly. "Yeah, I haven't been sleeping well lately…" Ian's voice trailed off as he spotted a bumblebee buzzing in the top corner of the window they were sat next too. Sara and Ian stared at the bee for a moment together.
"Bees are just so cool. Did you know if all bees were to die, humans would go extinct too?" Sara questioned curiously to Ian. "Yeah, totally. We need them." Ian said. "Of course you knew that, Ian, you're brilliant." Ian blushed, "I'm okay, but thanks, my parents were always really strict about school."
Sara could sense some sadness in Ian but didn't want to pry - it was still too early to delve into someone's past. Sara decided to wait for Ian to continue if he wanted, but silence quickly fell between them, as they sipped their coffees. "Okay a bit, awkward," Sara thought to herself. "But he really is handsome though."
"So, what can I do to help my lab partner make it to class on time?" She piped, looking intently at Ian. Ian who was now more alert, glanced at Sara, out into the quad, and then back at Sara again as if debating something.
"You don’t have to tell me, I'm not trying to pry into your life…" Sara started, but was interrupted by Ian, who now was staring into his coffee cup. "No, it's not that." Ian said, shaking his head and then paused. He looked up at Sara and that is when Sara saw Ian's demeanor change and stiffen. He looked like he was about to unveil a huge secret that he was carrying with him his entire life. Sara felt a pang of sadness swell in her own chest, thinking about her own difficult relationship with her parents, who were now divorced.
"Can you promise not to tell anyone else what I am about to tell you?" Ian said, looking around the café to see if anyone was eavesdropping. Sara leaned in, "What, are you like a spy or something?" she said jokingly, leaning back again in her seat with a smirk. But Ian's tense demeanor hadn't changed. "Oh, shit you are?" Sara said eyes widening and holding up her arms as if she was surrendering.
"No," Ian said shaking his head looking down again at this coffee.
"Well spit it out partner because I need you, the whole you, in class for next lab - it's supposed to be the hardest one so far." Sara said, crossing her arms.
Ian took a deep breath and said directly to Sara, "Promise me." As Ian was staring directly into her eyes, Sara briefly had the thought that maybe she was totally wrong about Ian, and that maybe he was some kind of nut case… Sara quickly shook off the feeling, and said, "I promise. Scouts honor," and saluted Ian.
Ian took another deep breath, closed his eyes, bowed his head, and slowly exhaled into his lap. He then opened his eyes and looked directly into Sara's and said the words.
"So, do you remember those bees?"

Daisy, was an extremely outgoing sophomore whose body was found on the outskirts of campus, floating in the lake, just paces away from where Sara and Ian were now brazenly headed.
Rumor had circulated quickly throughout the college that it was her boyfriend at the time who did it; a hot-headed captain of the undergraduate rowing team, who was known to have a hair-trigger temper and an ego to match, Jake. Jake had gone on bereavement the very same day of the discovery of Daisy's body and was rushed back to his parent's estate in a jet-black Suburban - parents who had been generous donors of the university. The deep pockets that Jake came from only fueled more rumors that Jake was somehow protected during the police investigation of Daisy's death, which had been ruled fouled play, but so far remained unsolved.
The university was in total chaos with families, police, journalists, and news outlets pouring onto the campus grounds. Now almost a week later, things were just starting to quiet down, but despite things slowly returning to normal, campus security had doubled, and patrols were almost impossible to get around. Due to the nature of the crime, it being unsolved, and the influx of press and police, Ian and Sara hadn't been to the apiary since the news broke.
Ian clutched Sara's hand to let her know that he was about to continue forward in a new direction away from the sweeping flashlight of the patrol officer, and off they went into the cover of darkness to witness it again - not at all worried a killer might be on the loose somewhere near campus, or even at the very same university.
TWO WEEKS EARLIER
"I'll take a medium dark roast, black," said Ian drearily. Sara waited close by at the condiment counter trying to seem not as nervous as she was, after all she was the one who had asked him out.
"Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into," Sara thought to herself spinning her iced coffee that was resting on the condiment bar, to swirl in in the two pumps of vanilla and packet of honey to make sure it was all perfectly mixed.
"How about a window booth?" Sara said to Ian as he carefully walked towards her with his piping hot coffee and set it down at the condiment bar next to her iced coffee and waved his hands to cool off them from the heat.
"Whoa, that *is* freshly brewed," Ian said now blowing on his hands. "Who knew regular college students could brew scalding, world-class coffee, such as this." He said sarcastically. He continued placing a lid on top and looking at Sara, said, "Sounds good," pausing to allow her to guide him to the window booth she had in mind.
Sara let out a deep sigh as she sank into her seat, "Whew, that lab was so much easier with you here." She took a sip of her iced coffee and looked out the window at the passing students and the quad that was in full majestic bloom. "It's so pretty, right?" she said, gesturing to the cherry blossom trees in the courtyard and then looking at Ian.
Ian nodded his head while blowing on his steaming cup, and gave a short "Mhm," and then took a careful sip of his piping hot coffee. As he set it down he let out a small groan, "Oh, I definitely needed this. Thanks for the invite Sara, and sorry about being late. It won't happen again. Scouts honor." Ian gave a salute to Sara, which made her chuckle.
"So, are you going to tell me what is up with you - not to sound like your mother," Sara quickly added. "You just seem to be under some kind of stress and obviously I care about what my lab partner is up too because, you know, your bags are big enough to put groceries in." Sara jabbed pointing to Ian's sunken and tired eyes, which now seem to have a bit more life entering back into them. "Coffee's working though," she teased.
"Do I look that bad?" Ian said, and then continued, "Well, thanks for the coffee and I guess…noticing." He said sheepishly. "Yeah, I haven't been sleeping well lately…" Ian's voice trailed off as he spotted a bumblebee buzzing in the top corner of the window they were sat next too. Sara and Ian stared at the bee for a moment together.
"Bees are just so cool. Did you know if all bees were to die, humans would go extinct too?" Sara questioned curiously to Ian. "Yeah, totally. We need them." Ian said. "Of course you knew that, Ian, you're brilliant." Ian blushed, "I'm okay, but thanks, my parents were always really strict about school."
Sara could sense some sadness in Ian but didn't want to pry - it was still too early to delve into someone's past. Sara decided to wait for Ian to continue if he wanted, but silence quickly fell between them, as they sipped their coffees. "Okay a bit, awkward," Sara thought to herself. "But he really is handsome though."
"So, what can I do to help my lab partner make it to class on time?" She piped, looking intently at Ian. Ian who was now more alert, glanced at Sara, out into the quad, and then back at Sara again as if debating something.
"You don’t have to tell me, I'm not trying to pry into your life…" Sara started, but was interrupted by Ian, who now was staring into his coffee cup. "No, it's not that." Ian said, shaking his head and then paused. He looked up at Sara and that is when Sara saw Ian's demeanor change and stiffen. He looked like he was about to unveil a huge secret that he was carrying with him his entire life. Sara felt a pang of sadness swell in her own chest, thinking about her own difficult relationship with her parents, who were now divorced.
"Can you promise not to tell anyone else what I am about to tell you?" Ian said, looking around the café to see if anyone was eavesdropping. Sara leaned in, "What, are you like a spy or something?" she said jokingly, leaning back again in her seat with a smirk. But Ian's tense demeanor hadn't changed. "Oh, shit you are?" Sara said eyes widening and holding up her arms as if she was surrendering.
"No," Ian said shaking his head looking down again at this coffee.
"Well spit it out partner because I need you, the whole you, in class for next lab - it's supposed to be the hardest one so far." Sara said, crossing her arms.
Ian took a deep breath and said directly to Sara, "Promise me." As Ian was staring directly into her eyes, Sara briefly had the thought that maybe she was totally wrong about Ian, and that maybe he was some kind of nut case… Sara quickly shook off the feeling, and said, "I promise. Scouts honor," and saluted Ian.
Ian took another deep breath, closed his eyes, bowed his head, and slowly exhaled into his lap. He then opened his eyes and looked directly into Sara's and said the words.
"So, do you remember those bees?"
Sara, motioned her head in the direction of the window and towards the cherry blossom trees, which had numerous bees buzzing around them,"…Those?"
"No," Ian said breathlessly.
"The ones that shimmer."

At the end of the interview they did the “do you have any questions?” So I asked what the salary would be as it was only listed as “competitive” and they hadn’t listed any benefits.

I also play video games, usually single-player CRPGs, but lately I've been playing Hades and I like being on voice call when I do that.

What I want the most though? Just intimacy. I think that's what we all want at the end. That is why this post is marked as NSFW because I am definitely not opposed to it going that way, but I also go at the pace of my partner and respect their boundaries.

- Tech stuff. Electric cars, phones, gadgets, all of it is at least of some casual interest to me.

A bit of a background, I'm a university student
My landlord informed me that she is going to stop renting the place I currently live in by the start of August because a branch of her family is going to move in by then.
Luckily, I applied for a student apartment, and they said they would be willing to accept my application and have a place ready in August. However, they said I could only move in by the middle of August.
This frustrates me because my current landlord said that I have to be out by August 1st at the latest, preferably by the end of July. I have some large items, like a bed frame and a desk with me, because when I first moved in, the landlord said I could stay there until I graduated. Well, look at how that turned out—lucky me. We don't have any formal agreement like an annual contract, only a monthly arrangement. Although, I might consider myself fortunate that the landlord at least gave me a three-month notice (unlike some horror stories where tenants are told to leave in less than a week or even on the same day).
Sorry for the short rant. Long story short**, I have a plan**. I plan to start my move in July by getting a storage unit and placing my stuff there first. Before August starts, I will live in an Airbnb until my move-in date in mid-August.
The problem now is that I am searching for a storage place and I see a lot of options. Things get even more complicated as I see some that some offer moving services as well, yet the websites don't show any prices. A moving service will be great as I can move my big stuff and don't need to disassemble them first.
I'm a broke college student. This summer, I plan to survive on $2,000, which will surely be reduced by utilities and other expenses. So knowing the price I will have to pay will be great.
I don't know who to ask, so if anyone can recommend a storage company in Salt Lake City that is close to the University of Utah, it would be a great help.

Having said that, I think this talk gets closer to how these kinds of deals are discussed at the institutional level. We didn't discuss comparisons (comps) or get into valuation (which institutionals would most certainly bring up), but Mr. Tan's direct "back-of-the-envelope" math is the kind of thing I could see representatives talking about as the coffees are being poured and the pastries are being put onto plates as the IT staff scramble to get the slideshow mirrored from the company laptop (by unplugging and replugging the HDMI cable).

- MB: Congratulations on finally getting CREC to the market! It must feel good to be so close to being able to focus entirely on CREC’s development pipeline.
- Oliver Y. Tan (OYT): Thank you!
- MB: There are no other power generation companies with a dedicated REIT recycler (AREIT/ACEN is the only other, but it’s not a clear pipeline), and there are certainly no other RE companies that have as clear a long-term development strategy with a REIT subsidiary. I looked through the prospectus, and the CREIT angle was mentioned but the value of CREIT to CREC wasn’t explicit. How has the built-in capital recycling machine of CREIT been received by potential investors? Was it a choice to downplay the CREIT mechanism?
- OYT: Not really a choice to downplay the CREIT mechanism but rather the lens of focus is on CREC, the IPO Issuer. We felt anyhow that the capital recycling machine of CREIT was extensively discussed in CREIT’s IPO prospectus in 2022. While the investor profiles of CREIT and CREC are unique and distinct (one is more of fixed income while the other is more of growth and capital gains), CREIT and CREC business models are complementary and feed each other. CREIT is a renewable energy property landlord while CREC is a renewable energy developer and power generation company. As CREIT acquires more land, its leasable area and rental income grows, and CREC has more land to develop into solawind farms, and as CREC develops more solawind farms, it has more renewable energy generating assets to feed into CREIT to grow CREIT’s leasable asset portfolio.
- MB: Was the configuration of CREIT and CREC understood? Was the role that CREIT plays in CREC’s development pipeline well received?
- OYT: The built-in capital recycling machine was very well received by the investors, because of CREC’s clear and visible pipeline projects and development capabilities (we are building and commissioning on average 1GW of new solar farms annually for the next 5 years), and the plan is to inject these 1GW sets of completed solar farms to CREIT every year for the next 5-years, this translates to recurring one-time gains to CREC starting 2024 to 2028, and CREC can allocate a portion of the one-time gain to declare cash dividends (the dividend policy of CREC is to declare up to 30% of prior year income which include this one-time gain); therefore, if you examine at this unique proposition carefully, CREC’s shareholders get the best of both worlds: dividend play and capital appreciation.
- MB: What’s CREC’s elevator pitch for the potential benefits of this relationship for CREC IPO investors?
- OYT: Here’s a back-of-the-envelope mathematical calculation: 1GW worth of annual EBITDA divided by the “desired” annual dividend yield shall be the “potential” acquisition value of CREIT from CREC, deduct the capex from the “potential” acquisition value to arrive at the “gain from sale” which shall form part of the net income for the period of CREC, then apply a modest PE Multiple of 6x to 8x, what do you think the share price of CREC should be? On the other hand, assume 30% of the gain from sale (post-elimination) to be declared as dividend, what do you think the dividend yield translates into to CREC? Needless to say, the sale is subject to “arm’s length”. It gets more exciting if you further zoom out into the future, say after 30 years (beyond the life cycle of the solar farms), what do you think shall be the residual “intrinsic value” of the freehold land owned by CREC through CREIT, assuming 1MW to 1 hectare land ratio? And these are contiguous 100 hectares per solar farm (prime for future township development).
- MB: I think one of the Citicore Group’s strengths has been its transparency and willingness to share its short, medium, and long-term plans. All of the participants that I’ve talked to in person about CREIT — from retail investors to other REIT sponsors — have all mentioned this as something that sets your group apart. Don’t stop now!
- OYT: You are correct as to the clarity of our long-term development strategy, we tried very hard to communicate it in our Prospectus (borderline giving away key information to our competitors), our pipeline projects are clearly defined in terms of geographical locations and stage of development, unlike others who simply place an ambitious xx GW of goals without giving much information on where and how to do it?
- MB: What is CREC’s equity requirement per MW of solar in development right now? Does CREC anticipate this will change over time?
- OYT: Sorry, I can’t give specific numbers due to the sensitivity, but one can somehow derive it from the project cost information we provided in the prospectus. This is one of our “catch-22” dilemmas, we’d like to provide as much information to the public so that they can arrive at an informed decision without giving away information to our competitors to copy. Funny because I was told that this young and colorful son of a politician who’s in the same renewable energy business, read our CREIT and CREC prospectus from cover to cover!
- MB: How about the value that CREC shareholders will receive for the assets transferred to CREIT, and the potential impact of those additional assets on CREIT’s future dividends? Does CREC expect the valuations and lease revenues from those future projects to remain relatively flat on a per-MW basis, or do you anticipate these could change over time?
- OYT: The valuations and lease revenue from future projects are highly sensitive to, among others: price tariff, offtake tenor, project capex, PV panel efficiency factor, etc., in other words, the higher the price tariff and lower the project capex will increase the valuations. Therefore, it is not flat (on a per-MW basis).
- MB: What is the lifespan of each solar farm, and what are CREC’s development plans for the land once the solar farms are decommissioned?
- OYT: The average lifespan of a solar farm is 30 years. CREC through CREIT has the flexibility to sell the land once the land becomes prime for township development or enter into joint venture with property developers to jointly develop the land.
- MB: I wrote a small piece about how the ₱2.70/share offer price was influenced by feng shui. Are there any other aspects of this offering that have been influenced or informed by feng shui?
- OYT: The color of our underwear at ringing the bell on listing date? : )
- MB: I won’t even ask! I’ll let that be an inside joke for the CREC management team. It’s hilarious enough for me just to know that you’ll be coordinated. Thanks so much for this great boardroom session. Best of luck to you, CREC, and all of the IPO buyers on CREC’s market debut next week!

So far, they've demonstrated the ability to make plans and remain accountable to those plans through timely execution, and that's a lot more than we can say about several of the other sponsoREIT pairings that we have on the PSE right now.

hello all! while i was pre-writing secondaries, i came across a frequent question - what is the biggest challenge or obstacle you have overcome? this is something that i struggled to really come up with a response to, but i thought of how i really struggled with social anxiety in the beginning of college. i would never speak up in class, hated discussions, and was scared to ask any superior a question. over time, i guess i just cared less what people would think about me and found this unfounded anxiety really didn't matter and i should speak up or ask questions. my manager now even knows that i ask a ton of questions lmao and whenever i come up to him and say i have a question, he responds with, "just one?"

The day we were given the information to order our caps and gowns I brought it home with a lot of nerves. I was the first one to graduate high school in my family(my mother and older sister both dropped out young and started families. I was terrified because I had worked hard to graduate with honors and a full ride to a smaller, local university and I wanted to be able to be free of my family. Still, I wanted to walk the stage and that cost money. Almost $100 to be precise. We were lot income, my mother had stopped working in her 30s due to anxiety, and I often got the bare minimum. Sneakers from the dollar store, had a few changes of clothes, and stuff to make sandwiches in the kitchen.
So when I showed her the information to rent my cap and gown, she screamed at me. It was somehow my fault that it cost so much. She said I should go to the councilors or principal to ask for assistance. She said it wasn’t fair to her. I didn’t know how to go about this process, I struggled with college applications alone, and not once did she attend a parent meeting. I told her to forget it. I cried as tears fell down my face and said I didn’t want it anymore. She kept yelling so I eventually just left the house. I went walking to breath. I was crushed, not just by the disappointment of not getting to walk the stage but because of the weight of my mom screaming. Yelling was how she dealt with stress. Even on supposedly happy things.
When I returned home my mom didn’t say a word but there was a letter in my bed. It read:
“Don't worry, I talked to [her boyfriend] No matter what happens you will have the money for your cap and gown. I'm sorry. I was so upset they give me 9 day notice. I was so afraid.
Please don’t be mad at me, please don’t hate me. I'm sorry you have to struggle because of me. I'm sorry if I’ve failed you and your sisters. I love you and your sisters so much. I want to be able to give you guys everything. I'm so proud of you.
You are a wonderful young woman. You are perfect. Please don't hate me. I Love you. mom.”

Its just a really long story, because I still live with them. I never used reddit before, but I have seen it on tiktok, I guess. I don’t know who to talk to about it or if I ever will, but it’s always on my conscience and I just hate living here.
I have a sibling who is biologically male. They are two years older than me. I also have a sister who is the middle child. I am the youngest. This sibling was diagnosed with autism when whey were 5. My parents enabled them, a lot. But, it was the early 2000s and I guess they didn’t have a good understanding about autism then. They are incredibly self-sufficient and very able-bodied and they have an understanding of right and wrong. They never took accountability for anything, and for my parents their autism was always an excuse whenever they would mistreat us, like hitting or taking our things when we were young. I can’t being to count how many times I have heard “well, x has autism, so you need to be patient” etc.
This sibling is the oldest, so they started middle school first. I started 6th grade by the time they were in 8th grade. Middle school was when they would start doing things to me. The summer before I was in the 6th grade I was in an accident, and I was in physical therapy for a really long time. I was using a wheelchair for a while, but eventually I would use a walker I am still disabled from this injury.
During this time they would touch me in inappropriate places and they would try to kiss me or get mad when I wouldn’t participate. They would call me their girlfriend, or say I am the closest they have had for a girlfriend. They would groom me and talk about inappropriate things like wt dreams, or sx, m*sturbation. As a kid, I would be really scared and uncomfortable when these things would happen but I guess whenever it did I couldn’t like react, and I was disabled so I couldn’t do much to walk away or fight back, I would just cry.
It stopped when that sibling started their junior year in high school and I was a freshman, at the time they had a girlfriend. Eventually these two were made to break up (her mom found out). But, in college they met their new girlfriend and they have been together for a while. This new girlfriend was actually one of my friends before they met.
I really struggled in school and with my mental health in high school. I was suicidal and I would self-harm so my mom put me into therapy. I never told my mom or my therapist what happened, it just made me too scared.
My mom was diagnosed with a type of brain cancer in 2022, this sibling wouldn’t help with our mom at all and it would start huge arguments in the family. My sister and I were pretty much like 24/7 maids, caregivers, chefs, everything you can think of. It was pretty much my sister and I vs my sibling and my dad. And my dad never had empathy for us. My dad still uses their autism as an excuse for everything. This sibling (24) is so self-sufficient, they can drive and my dad gave them a car, they can cook and clean, they have worked since they were 18, they are in college, they drink. They are pretty much like a normal adult, but they never have any consequences, responsibility, or any accountability and they never say sorry. To them we are always the problem, they even called me emotionally abusive and a gaslighter at one point. This sibling has never had therapy or any medical care outside of when they were diagnosed and medical paperwork for a 504 or like an IEP but I don’t know much about that. I have had multiple therapists, hospitalizations, medications, along with my actual physical disability from my injury, but my dad doesn’t see the validity in my diagnosis or mental issues. They only take this siblings side, and only validate their autism diagnosis.
Since that time, my mom actually passed away in 2023. I got a new therapist, and she seems to think I have PTSD but whenever she asks me questions about my childhood, or my mom’s health condition which was really traumatic for me, I just avoid them. I don’t know how to tell her, and I am too scared about what would happen after. I am mostly scared of how my dad and sister would react.

My sibling ended up transitioning shortly after our mom died in 2023, which is fine them being trans isn’t a problem for me, but since they transitioned very publicly they have gained somewhat of a social media following, and it terrifies me really badly to say anything. Whether they are trans or not they still sexually abused me. They also associate with their girlfriend a lot and she has since unfollowed me everywhere. It gives me anxiety about what this sibling is saying to others about me. It gives me panic attacks and I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to say anything, except for leave. I am scared to go public with it, and I am scared of what my family will say.
My sister said that last week they confronted them about a large argument they had when my mom was in cancer treatment, and our sibling said something along the lines of “I was only 22, I was immature and I’m a different person now.” but this sibling will still start arguments (from 2022) with us, and again they call us abusive etc. This makes me so upset and angry, because we are even younger than our sibling but they don’t have ANY empathy or apology for us, it’s always some deflection and excuse. I also feel like they use their transition a lot to talk about their personal growth and change, especially in family arguments, but to me they are still the same person just a different identity.
I have been working and trying to beg my sister to leave the house and get an apartment with me, because I just can’t live here anymore. I hate our sibling, I feel so repulsed by them. My sister can sense some tension between us, but whenever she asks about it she just thinks I am clinging to past arguments, but I don’t think I can tell her what happened, and if I do I don’t think she’d believe me. My sister is the only family member who I am close with. I hate our father, like I can’t stand to be here anymore. It makes me want to die. I just want to pack my bags and go but I don’t have a car or anyone to cosign on an apartment or live with me. It just drives me crazy waking up the next day knowing that I am still here, and I still have to live with this person. It just drives me up the wall, I just wish I was dead.

Hi everyone, a little bit ago I posted a question about starting as a machine shop assistant for a gunworks. After 2 interviews and talking with their hr rep on the phone and discussing being able to give two weeks and starting on June 10th but I would still need to pass a background check before the official offer and the hiring manager would contact me quickly. Cut to a week later I had to email the hiring manager myself and ask what was going on only to be told they haven’t decided yet and if I could provide ANOTHER reference from a supervisor which I provided. I’m a week away from being done with my current job and was given the impression I would start on the 10th. Is this a massive red flag for a machine shop? I'm unsure if this subreddit is the correct place to ask this question. Still, the tuition chargeback form I was filling out for my in county community college (for a summer class they accidentally overcharged me on) required that I input my SSN. I wouldn't bat an eye on this if other CCs also asked for an SSN on their chargeback forms, but they didn't: I specifically downloaded 3 chargeback forms from CCs in my neighboring counties because I'm extremely paranoid about sharing my SSN 😭& none of them asked me for it.

Growing up, I wasn’t explicitly told not to ask questions, but questions were regularly discouraged. The church-goers of my generation were mostly brought up this way.
In college, a friend of mine started attending a new church. His pastor told him that his diabetes was a result of his “lack of faith in God”. His pastor convinced him that if he’d stop taking his insulin shots, he’d be cured by his faith.
He died.
We need to question everything we hear. There have been many times where I’ve witnessed a pastor say something that was completely wrong; but because we’ve been trained not to question our pastors, no one ever calls them on it.

TLDR; Take an offer in hand and try to negotiate with them, hold off and try to delay as much as possible for a company I like more, or balls to the wall and keep searching?
Just got my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineer this May and have been interviewing at places for the last 3 months. For a little bit of a background I have almost 2 years of engineering internship experience and then another 2 years of manufacturing experience.
I have gotten a few offers ranging from 65,000$-85,000$ (I live in Massachusetts USA). My dilemma is I am not really interested in most of the companies I have offers from, only one is appealing to me. It is a manufacturing engineer position at an aerospace company. The pay is 75,000$/year with a pretty solid benefits package. However, another company I am waiting to hear back from is more appealing to me. It's a design engineer position in a similar field.
I'm waiting to hear back from the latter company but I have a deadline 2 weeks from now for the offer that I have in hand. I relayed this to the company I'm more interested in and they told me they would try to speed up the process but still have interviews down the line. I'm most likely going to take the offer that I have in hand late next week as a precaution.
Now my question is how should I go about negotiating the offer I got for the manufacturing engineer position? I shot high and asked for 85,000$ off the bat and my instinct is to meet in the middle and ask for 80,000$ but want to provide some backbone to this.
My second question is how badly would I shoot myself in the foot if I jumped the gun too soon on accepting this offer only to have the company I like more reach out with an offer of their own? I would rather not burn a bridge with this company since they are quite large.
Sorry if this post is a bit all over the place, kinda stuck in a weird place at the moment. I used to always take the first offer that came across to me in my previous job searches.
