Following the American Revolution, Sierra Leone became a destination for resettling black loyalists who had originally been resettled in Nova Scotia. After the abolition of the slave trade in 1807, British crews delivered thousands of Africans liberated from illegal slave ships to Sierra Leone, particularly Freetown. Sixteen ethnic groups inhabit Sierra Leone, each with its own language and customs. The two largest and most influential are the Temne and Mende.

2024.05.17 10:31 thatonepansexual1 I told you to let me go down to the nurse.

Idk if this really goes here but I don’t know where else to put it. For context: I have an extremely bad tree nut allergy. My reaction also doesn’t set in until 30 minutes to an hour later. My reaction is literally not being able to breathe or having a very hard time breathing depending on the nut and also hives before ending off on puking my guts out if im lucky enough or fainting/dying if I’m unlucky.
I also didn’t have an epipen at the time because it is too expensive and my parent’s insurance did not cover it. The teachers would also loudly proclaim each of the students who had allergies’s names and what their allergy was so everyone in the school knew I had a tree nut allergy.
Story: Some of my classmates decided it would be funny to give me a Nutella brownie during lunch. I did not know it had Nutella in it. Science was the next class after lunch so I went to science class thinking nothing was wrong.
I was paying attention until suddenly I had a very weird feeling that I was very familiar with. I tried brushing it off as accidentally eating something bad or just being a little sick. But then it got worse.
I raised my hand and asked the science teacher if I could go down to the nurse. She said no because I looked fine and she was giving an important lecture. At this point, I started having difficulties with breathing. I started telling her that I can’t breathe and she brushed it off as just some attention seeking stunt. (This was during the BLM protests and I’m black.) At this point, other students that I was friends with and knew the signs of my allergic reaction started telling her to let me go to the nurse.
I felt like I was about to puke so I walked up to the front of the room and used hand motions to ask to go to the bathroom. She told me to sit back down.
Just as she told me that, I puked. All over her and her shirt. She started screaming at me and asking what the fuck was wrong with me and I think she even said that I was gonna get suspension.
I looked her dead in the eyes and said “I told you to let me go down to the nurse.” Before coughing a lot.
I went down to the nurse after that and she shot me with the EpiPen that is in her office. I got sent home after that but my friends texted me that the nurse and the vice-principal told off the science teacher. My friends and I also got free snacks from the vice-principal for good behavior and the rest of my science class and teacher got to have after school lessons on allergies and medical conditions in general.
The kids who gave me the brownie got suspended and expelled later on for stealing 50 bucks from another student

2024.05.17 10:24 BigBreath AI=Business? LMAO

Lol NO! With all the buzz around this world and every company trying to incorporate some form of AI into their business to push their stock price up, I think it's bullshit. But hey, disclaimer: I made two AI businesses and have 2 years of experience in this field, and here is everything I have learned.
My first business was an insurance-based blog completely built with AI. I sold that for $6700 within the first year. I know it's not much, but I needed the money to survive as I was broke.
Now I run a YouTube channel primarily focused on building AI businesses. I started it last year following the trend of AI and unsurprisingly, it grew quite well. I gained about 20k subs and earned quite well combined with all the sponsorship and ad revenue. I get about 5-10 sponsor emails a day, 80% of which go unread. But the other day, I was scrolling through a few of my older sponsor emails and tried testing out a few of their products. Surprisingly, most of their websites were shut down or their products had changed completely from what they had emailed me about.
It was strange for me at first, as these companies did have good money to sponsor but did not have enough to keep running their websites or continuing their products.

So what's the reason?

It all starts to make sense once you start using their product. It's completely dogshit I will be honest. 99% of the AI products available out there right now are just riding the hype train. As cool as it sounds majority of these products have no selling point.
I have used tons thousands of AI products and out of all those ChatGPT is the only one that truly can make a difference for you every other AI product has no real value to offer. The majority of the AI products out there are just reskinned versions of either ChatGPT or Midjourney.
All these companies are VC-backed and initially make a lot of noise with sponsorship and everything but none of these works as not many turn into paying customers.
Most of the new startups are trying to focus on niche problems and trying to solve them using AI. Which I think is a really good initiative and I fully support it. But here is what they miss, they aren’t useful enough for people to ditch the free version of ChatGPT or other such free AI tools and use their product.
Invideo, AI is a good example of such a problem. They are trying to revolutionize the video creation space by integrating AI and also making an AI-based video generator where you just put in the prompt and the AI makes a video on its own from it. Sounds good. Seeing this I thought to put an affiliate link on Invideo in my video descriptions. I got around 600 sign-ups in total and 0 conversions. YES, 0 conversions from 600 sign-ups. Now keep in mind that my channel is very much focused on AI business and video creation so my channel is a perfect fit for their product, but it did not work out even then. I tested out the product and the results were bad, I mean sure it can create videos on its own but the quality is so shit that it can’t be used anywhere.

So who will win this?

So if everything is so bad, then why am I in this business? Well, this is where the opportunity lies. You cannot build a business completely on AI and sell the service because it's very difficult to meet people's expectations to make them a paying customer because in this field people expect way too much than they actually should.
So what can you sell? The best AI business right now I think is to automate your process using some AI tools to get faster results or to outsource. You cannot sell Ai as a business right now.
Companies like OpenAI, and Google have infinite cash, and they can sell this service quite easily but for people like us, it's really difficult to sell AI as a service.

2024.05.17 10:19 gdpmatters The Rise of Private Equity in the Carbon Offsets Market

Hey everyone,
I recently came across an interesting article on the increasing involvement of private equity in the carbon offsets market and wanted to share some insights and get your thoughts on this development.
The carbon offsets market has been growing rapidly as companies seek to mitigate their carbon footprints and meet sustainability goals. Traditionally, this market has been dominated by environmental organizations and dedicated sustainability firms. However, the landscape is changing with private equity firms stepping in and investing heavily.
Here are some key points from the article:
  1. Market Growth and Opportunity: The carbon offsets market is projected to grow significantly in the coming years. This growth is attracting private equity firms looking for high-return investments that also align with the growing demand for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria among investors.
  2. Strategic Investments: Private equity firms are not just providing capital but also leveraging their expertise in scaling businesses, optimizing operations, and driving profitability. This could potentially lead to more efficient and impactful carbon offset projects.
  3. Potential Risks: While private equity can bring much-needed capital and efficiency, there are concerns about the true commitment to sustainability. The primary goal of private equity is to generate returns for investors, which might sometimes conflict with the long-term environmental goals of carbon offset projects.
  4. Enhanced Market Credibility: The entry of private equity could enhance the credibility and visibility of the carbon offsets market. With rigorous due diligence and financial oversight, these firms could help weed out less credible projects and support those with genuine impact.
  5. Innovation and Technology: Private equity investment might drive innovation in the carbon offsets space, supporting new technologies and methodologies for carbon capture and reduction. This can potentially lead to more effective and scalable solutions to climate change.
This trend raises a few important questions:
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think private equity’s involvement will be a net positive or negative for the carbon offsets market and sustainability as a whole? Let's discuss!
You can read the full article here.

2024.05.17 10:17 MissMaryJane469 How do you go up when you’ve hit rock bottom? I genuinely need advice.

I (23F) am really struggling to move forward in life. For context I recently switched jobs from sales to Pizza Delivery. My last manager was just awful to deal with, she cared more about putting money in her own wallet than her workers safety. About 2 months ago I transferred to a pizza delivery company because my friend was just raving about how much better it would be for me to work there. She told me I would be making just as much money and the work environment was comfortable with kind customers/employees. Literally a month into working I got in a car accident with a car I JUST took a bank loan out to pay for. (He was wanting to drive at least 300 feet in the bike lane to turn right at a light way behind me. Traffic was at a complete stop and backed up, the two lanes to the left of me had traffic stopped with a gap for me to turn left back into work. He was driving so fast when he got in the turning lane I didn’t see him until I was making my turn and it completely totaled my car… my radiator sits in the very front of my car.) my insurance still has not gotten back to me about who is at fault and I had to sell my car because the towing company wanted $500 to give me my car back and I didn’t have the money. I am now without a car having to work as an insider making not even half of what I was making before. I’m stuck with a $4,000 car loan with no car to show for, and I’m barely able to find rides to work every day. I can barely afford to pay for my bills, my boyfriends has to help me pay them every 2 weeks because I keep running short in money. We barely have money for food at this point and i just don’t see me making enough money to be able to afford another car. I can’t afford to take out another loan since I also have snap payments for $5,000 of work I had done on my car to get it up and running. I can switch my job and still barely have enough money to live at this point, with no opportunity to save for another vehicle. I am so lost at, I worked so hard just to end up here, no vehicle, making less money than before, and I’m CONSTANTLY getting sick and vomiting from the stress. I don’t even have the money to see a therapist for a single session.. I really need some advice I don’t know what more I can do except work my life away praying for miracles. Even words of encouragement would be appreciated at this point. Every time I think about my life situation I start bawling.

2024.05.17 10:17 jerda81 Never EVER do a life insurance 3a pillar

For anyone still not clear with 3a Pillar scam of life insurances in Switzerland.. please DO NOT make my mistake and stay away from any life insurance contract. Better put your money in 3a accounts or investment funds such as VIAC.
My experience: in 2019 I subscribe a 3a Life Insurance contract with Helvetia, which is the insurance company I use for Responsabilité Civile, and (at the time) also car insurance. They propose me a monthly payment of 300.- CHF, with all the standard conditions. I sign, and the contract starts on 01.06.2019.
Fast forward to 2021, I decide 300.- a month was a bit much, since I was starting using VIAC and other funds, which were looking much more interesting. I ask them if possible to reduce the monthly prime from 300.- (3'600.- per year) to 100.- (1'200.- per year), so I could have more spare to invest in other accounts. They say yes, no problem, just send a letter. I do, and the contract is amended on 01.06.2021.
Fast forward to today, I am planning to buy an apartment with my wife. Of course I start inquiring all the various accounts to check my balance of private funds. Surprise surprise, the amount on Helvetia insurance 3a is strangely low. To remark that they never send automatically the account statements, or at least I have never received them before unless asked. I call and ask what happened. This is what they reply to me: "as per CGA, the previous contract has been released in 2021, so your current amount is the primes paid from 2021 to today".
I am puzzled. I've never asked such thing, and all the exchanges by email are clearly mentioning a modification of the contract, never ever was mentioned that the contract was being "closed". Also, the contract on their webpage "myHelvetia" still indicates a start in 2019. The guy on the phone says that effectively something is strange, but "as per CGA, the previous money is gone". STOLEN, I would say.
So now I am sitting on a loss of more than 5k CHF of the years 2019-2021, and they seem to blame the thing on me. Of course I'm contacting a lawyer (and if you know any good one around Lausanne, please PM me), but the story is: NEVER NEVER NEVER trust insurance companies, and especially Helvetia. NEVER put your retirement money in Life Insurance 3a. NEVER subscribe useless insurances. It's all a big scam, and the client is always the one to blame.

Insurance: Integrated shield plan - Medisave (no cash outlay) Mindef SAF 100k term ~$100?(cant remember but affordable) GE 200k ECI - about 1k/year
Rainy day liquid funds 20k in high yield savings account

For example, you can show different offers, languages, currencies, or images depending on the country, region, city, or even neighborhood of your users, ensuring your message resonates with their local contextand achieve your marketing goals in several ways.
According to a study, campaigns that utilized geo-targeting saw a 25% increase in click-through rates compared to those without. That's a significant jump in qualified leads for your business!
Here's why geo-location targeting deserves a prominent place in your B2B marketing toolkit:
https://preview.redd.it/4ghz2v3c1y0d1.png?width=12052&format=png&auto=webp&s=f3cf17984c010c748fff5450c3955c049fd7cbf5
  • Speaking Their Language (Literally and Figuratively): Geo-targeting allows you to tap into the cultural nuances of your target audience. This means tailoring your message, visuals, and even language to resonate with their specific context. Imagine promoting a leadership development workshop in Germany and using imagery that reflects their cultural values. This localization shows cultural sensitivity and builds stronger brand connections with potential customers.
  • Events Made Easy: Hosting a B2B conference? Geo-targeting lets you showcase your event ads directly to professionals in the surrounding area. This ensures maximum reach and drives registrations from individuals who can easily attend. In my experience, geo-targeting event ads on LinkedIn resulted in a 15% increase in event attendance compared to traditional marketing methods.
  • Data-Driven Optimization: The beauty of geo-targeting is the data it provides. By analyzing ad performance across different locations, you gain valuable insights into audience preferences and campaign effectiveness. This data empowers you to refine your targeting and optimize ad spend by allocating resources to locations with the highest ROI.

Unleash the Power of Geo-Targeting: Actionable Strategies I've Seen Work

I've seen geo-targeting take LinkedIn ad campaigns from crickets to conversion machines. Here's what successful campaigns have taught me.
https://preview.redd.it/j3tpqobd1y0d1.png?width=6026&format=png&auto=webp&s=34f3db374eb45bab473ed5fa1dfe7d09fa3f4862
Step 1: Know Your Ideal Customer Inside-Out
Just like a detective building a profile, you need to understand your ideal customer. There was a software company with targeted marketing managers by industry, then drilled down further by location. They found pockets of marketing automation experts in unexpected cities, leading to a surge in qualified leads.
Step 2: Master Your Targeting Toolbox
LinkedIn Ads gives you a location targeting buffet. Here's how others have used it effectively:
  • Countries: A travel company skyrocketed bookings by targeting specific European countries, then tailoring their ads to highlight popular local destinations.
  • Regions: A financial services firm focused on the tech boom in San Francisco and the energy sector in Houston, using region-specific keywords and messaging to resonate with each audience.
  • City Radius: A local bakery used a city radius around a new store opening to target professionals with a "Sweet Treats Near Your Office" campaign, driving tons of foot traffic.
  • Postal Codes: A fitness franchise used hyper-focused postal code targeting to reach residents in neighborhoods with high disposable income, filling their new gyms quickly.
  • Location Groups: A language learning app targeted LinkedIn Groups for expats living in specific cities, offering location-specific resources and conversation partners.
Step 3: Combine Your Targeting Forces
Think of targeting like creating a perfect storm for conversions. There was a B2B marketing agency who combined geo-targeting with industry targeting. They reached marketing directors in specific regions facing challenges with lead generation, offering location-specific webinars and case studies, resulting in a significant boost in qualified leads.

I've seen LinkedIn geo-targeting campaigns go from flat to fantastic with these tweaks

Here's what I've learned in the trenches:
  • Speak Their Language (Literally): Don't just translate your ad copy – localize it! A recent case study highlights the power of localization. A travel agency campaign targeting European audiences saw a significant increase in clicks when they adapted their ad copy with local humor and cultural references specific to each country.
  • Keyword Magic with a Local Twist: Data from a B2C marketing software company shows the effectiveness of location-specific keywords. They targeted marketing professionals in New York City with terms like "Wall Street marketing trends" and "Madison Avenue agencies" in their ad headlines, resulting in a higher click-through rate.
  • Testing Unlocks Hidden Gems: A/B testing is king! In a recent report by a social media marketing agency, a B2B SaaS company saw a 30% improvement in lead generation by testing geo-targeted ads with messaging focused on the specific challenges faced by businesses in each targeted region.
  • Ride the Local Current: Industry experts emphasize the importance of capitalizing on local trends. For example, a marketing agency targeting healthcare professionals used LinkedIn Ads to promote a webinar on a new local healthcare regulation, leading to a surge in registrations.
  • Stay Compliant, Avoid Drama: Legal restrictions can be a hidden pitfall. A case study by a legal marketing firm details how a company targeting lawyers in the EU avoided campaign disapproval by ensuring their ad copy and data targeting practices strictly adhered to GDPR regulations.
Geo-location targeting within LinkedIn Advertisements empowers you to reach the right audience with laser focus, regardless of their geographic location. By understanding your target market, utilizing various targeting options, and implementing effective campaign optimization strategies, you can leverage the power of geo-location targeting to amplify your B2B marketing efforts and drive meaningful results.
Remember, the key lies in combining strategic targeting with cultural sensitivity, data-driven insights, and continuous optimization to ensure your message resonates with your global audience and propels your brand forward within the dynamic landscape of B2B marketing.
By following these strategies and leveraging the insights from the video, you can craft geo-targeted LinkedIn Ads that resonate with your target audience and drive significant results.

2024.05.17 10:03 Debjit_M How to Choose a Four-Wheeler Insurance Policy Online

Choosing the right four-wheeler insurance policy online can be a daunting task, especially with the myriad of options available. Whether you’re a first-time car owner or looking to switch providers, understanding the nuances of car insurance can help you make an informed decision. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you choose the best car insurance policy online.

Understanding Car Insurance

Car insurance is a policy that provides financial protection against physical damage or bodily injury resulting from traffic collisions and against liability that could also arise from incidents in a vehicle. It’s essential to understand the different types of car insurance policies available:
  1. Third Party Insurance: This is the most basic type of motor insurance and is mandatory by law. It covers damages caused to a third party but does not cover the insured vehicle.
  2. Comprehensive Insurance: This covers both third-party liabilities and damages to your own vehicle due to accidents, theft, fire, and natural disasters.

Steps to Choose the Best Car Insurance Policy Online

1. Assess Your Needs

Before purchasing a car insurance policy, assess your specific needs. Consider factors like the age of your car, how frequently you drive, and your budget. If you drive an older vehicle, third-party insurance might suffice. For newer or more expensive cars, comprehensive coverage is advisable.

2. Research and Compare Policies

With numerous options available online, it’s crucial to compare different car insurance policies. Look at the coverage, benefits, and exclusions of each policy. Many websites offer comparison tools that can help you compare car insurance online from different providers. Pay attention to the following aspects:

3. Check the Insurer’s Reputation

Research the reputation of the insurance company. Read reviews and ratings from other customers to gauge their experiences. An insurer with a strong track record and good customer service can make a significant difference when it comes to claims processing.

4. Understand the Car Insurance Price

While comparing policies, don’t just look at the premium. The car insurance price should reflect the value and extent of coverage provided. Sometimes, cheaper policies might have hidden costs or inadequate coverage. Balance the cost with the benefits offered.

5. Read the Fine Print

Carefully read the policy documents to understand the terms and conditions. Pay attention to exclusions, deductibles, and the claim process. Understanding the fine print can prevent unpleasant surprises later.

6. Utilize Discounts

Many insurers offer discounts for various factors such as:
Make sure to inquire about these discounts to reduce your premium.

7. Consider Customer Support

Good customer support can make a big difference. Choose an insurer with a robust support system that can assist you in times of need. Check if they offer 24/7 support and how accessible they are through different channels (phone, email, chat).

8. Make an Informed Decision

After thorough research, choose a policy that best meets your requirements and budget. Ensure that the policy provides comprehensive coverage and is from a reputable insurer with good customer service and a high claim settlement ratio.

Conclusion

Choosing a car insurance policy online doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By assessing your needs, researching and comparing options, understanding the car insurance price, and considering customer reviews and support, you can find the best car insurance policy for your vehicle. Remember, the right policy not only offers financial protection but also peace of mind, knowing that you and your car are well-covered.
By following these steps, you can navigate the complexities of motor insurance and make an informed decision that ensures your four-wheeler is protected on the road. Happy driving!

2024.05.17 10:01 sinomaltanews Shipping tax: study will detail Malta’s challenges

https://timesofmalta.com/article/shipping-tax-study-detail-malta-challenges.1092341?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0KdB9-yrhCnQVevo1pA9rWV0M-4m7bl6mHML1AykTcjCgisgt4Q0mNyJc_aem_AQ0gZvuUHK4vLIPzsssS1HnKfMrLMM5L-SHvuRL7U-iqs38cmyjUSO_kp-uVFrei8L1zm7Zk2pIJRP2aueU3EYWb#Echobox=1715932309
As the leader of the Malta Catholic Democratic Party, I would like to address the concerns raised by the recent study on the challenges Malta faces due to the proposed EU shipping tax. The study highlights the imminent risk of Malta losing its role as a transhipment hub, which could have significant repercussions for our economy and the livelihoods of many Maltese citizens1.
Our Position: The Malta Catholic Democratic Party understands the importance of environmental stewardship and supports the EU’s efforts to combat climate change. However, we believe that the implementation of the EU shipping tax must be carefully considered to avoid unintended consequences that could undermine Malta’s economic stability.
Our Concerns: The potential departure of major shipping companies from Malta due to the new tax could lead to job losses and negatively impact related industries. It is crucial that any environmental tax reform does not disproportionately affect smaller states like Malta, which rely heavily on their strategic geographic position for economic activity1.
Our Call to Action: We urge the EU to engage in a dialogue with all stakeholders, including the Maltese government and the maritime industry, to find a balanced approach that aligns with our shared environmental goals without jeopardizing Malta’s economic interests. We advocate for a solution that considers the unique challenges faced by Malta as a small island nation.
Our Commitment: The Malta Catholic Democratic Party is committed to working towards a sustainable future that does not compromise our economic vitality. We will continue to represent the interests of the Maltese people and ensure that our voices are heard in this critical discussion.
In conclusion, while we stand with the global community in the fight against climate change, we must also protect the economic well-being of our country. We call for a fair and equitable implementation of environmental policies that consider the specific needs and challenges of Malta.
Sincerely, [Your Name] Leader, Malta Catholic Democratic Party

2024.05.17 10:00 Particular_While_567 Guidance for swing/positional trades

I have been a long term investor for many years now, 7+ although started very small, with blue chip consumer companies. Slowly I started investing in midcap and small cap as well. Mostly I have been a buy and forget kind of investor.
Now I would like to do positional swing trades (3-6 months holding period) more actively, based on what I've learnt of FA and TA. I have been doing some casual swing trades.
I have a few questions regarding that.
1) I feel the economic and especially sector analysis is important for swings along with TA because the trend of the general sector can make or break your TA setup. What's a good way of doing this, especially cyclical sectors?
2) I want to do this in a seperate demat, which broker would you suggest? I'm looking for low/no brokerage on delivery trades and good TA interface. ( using HDFC and Zerodha already)
3) currently I have a fixed lumpsum in my mind for these positional trades which I'd like to split in 5-8 positions at a time and rotate the money as and when I exit(target or SL). Does this approach sound good?
4) What else in your experience would be good to know when starting off with positional trades that you might have learnt after a bit of experience. Any pointers how I can better upskill myself for this?
Thanks in advance

2024.05.17 09:58 brubru89 Will my insurance cover the damages on my car?

A few days ago I was exiting the parking at work at night and accidentally ran over a parked motorbike. When trying to fix the situation I scratched both sides of my car with the walls and columns. I have comprehensive insurance and I lodged the claim and reported that I damaged the motorbike and also my car and paid the excess.
The insurance called me and asked me to take the car to their mechanic and gave me an appointment in a few weeks.
This is the first time I am involved with an insurance company. Will they cover the repairs in my car even if I am at fault? Is there any chance they will refuse to cover it?
Also, I reported the scratches on the car doors, but I now realised that the reverse mirror has a small mark too. Should I call the insurance to report this too, or should I wait until I see the mechanic and tell him instead?

What is Online Reputation Management?
Online Reputation Management (ORM) is the process of overseeing, managing, and minimising unfavourable online information related to an individual, business, or organisation. The primary objective is to portray the most precise and favourable representation to potential clients and interested parties. ORM includes a range of methods and approaches aimed at establishing, upholding, and restoring a brand's online standing.
The Importance of Online Reputation Management
In the modern era of constant connectivity, a solitary unfavourable review or social media update has the power to greatly influence a company's standing and financial performance. Research indicates that online reviews and ratings are nearly as influential as personal referrals in the eyes of consumers. As a result, effectively controlling your brand's online image is essential for drawing in customers and maintaining their confidence.
Benefits of Online Reputation Management Services
Prior to delving into agency comparisons, it is essential to pinpoint your unique online reputation requirements. Here are several crucial aspects to take into account:
  1. Enhanced Credibility: A positive online reputation management service enhances your credibility and trustworthiness in the eyes of consumers. It helps establish your brand as a reliable authority in your industry.
  2. Improved Search Engine Ranking: ORM services can help push down negative search results and promote positive content, improving your brand's visibility and search engine ranking.
  3. Increased Customer Trust: Positive online reviews and testimonials build trust with potential customers, leading to higher conversion rates and increased sales.
  4. Crisis Management: ORM services provide a proactive approach to addressing negative publicity and managing crises before they escalate, minimising damage to your brand's reputation.
  5. Competitive Advantage: A strong online reputation sets you apart from competitors and gives you a competitive edge in the market.
Online Reputation Management Strategies
ORM agencies provide a variety of services designed to tackle different online reputation issues. Here is an overview of a few typical services offered:
  1. Monitoring: Regular monitoring of online mentions, reviews, and social media conversations allows businesses to stay informed about their online reputation and address any issues promptly.
  2. Content Creation: Creating and promoting positive content such as blog posts, articles, and press releases helps overshadow any negative content and improves your brand's online image.
  3. Review Management: Engaging with customers and responding to both positive and negative reviews demonstrates transparency and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
  4. Social Media Management: Managing social media channels effectively helps maintain a positive brand image and engage with customers in real-time.
  5. Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimizing online content to improve search engine rankings and push down negative search results is an essential aspect of ORM.
Choosing the Right Online Reputation Management Company
When selecting an ORM company to manage your brand's online reputation, consider the following factors:
  1. Experience: Look for a company with a proven track record of successfully managing online reputations for businesses in your industry.
  2. Reputation: Check reviews, testimonials, and case studies to gauge the reputation and reliability of the ORM company.
  3. Services Offered: Ensure the company offers a comprehensive range of ORM services tailored to your specific needs and objectives.
  4. Transparency: Choose a company that is transparent about their processes, pricing, and reporting mechanisms.

2024.05.17 09:57 PeenooseThaThicc Almost a year as a legal assistant at a large law firm, is every firm like this?

I work at a very large and well known personal injury firm as a legal assistant in pre-litigation for motor vehicle accidents. This has been my experience so far. Every day I am expected to be able to go through my checklist and produce accurate work, but the caveat here is we are glued to a phone system and we work in a team environment so I am taking client calls, adjuster calls, etc. Approximately 30 - 45 calls per day, the only way to avoid this is by calling out aggressively myself leaving my coworkers to take the call backs (I know the number chasers here do this, not a fan of the practice). This makes getting through actual work nearly impossible as I am constantly taken off task to work on other people's cases when I take a call (and i take very detailed notes), and depending on the volume, this can be back to back to back. I have to back track to reorientate myself to what I was previously working on. I have case counts in excess of 160+ on the low end, I mostly work on high priority items that push cases along such as demands and drafting settlement paperwork (these also have unrealistic deadlines in accordance with the call volume), leaving the low priority stuff to the wayside hoping they delegate it to one of the interns
The company on the other hand acts completely indifferent, we will get passive-agressively chastized for missing expected due dates, yet they offer nothing to relieve the pressure from taking so many calls. We have asked for higher pay because everyone is stressed and burnt out (i call it being phone fried) but the company has taken a stance they don't want to pay us more and we have PTO if we're feeling burnt out. They are fairly predatory in their reviews from what I have heard from other employees who have asked for raises. The turnover here is abysmal, my training was cut short due to a number of employees quitting in a short period so they gave me a case load and put me on the phones prematurely (I am a confident speaker so this may have contributed to this as well in addition to the desperation for more phone coverage), I had to either teach myself or ask others for guidance on most things in a trial by fire fashion but I figured it out.
I don't want this to come off as a rant as I love the job itself, I do good work, I am personable and do enjoy talking to my own clients and building a genuine rapport, multiple attorneys are willing to write me letters of recommendation for law school, but I feel as though we operate as an overglorified call center at times when we have genuine important work to do. I knew I was signing up for fast paced, but no day ever has an end goal, everyone is always technically "behind" at all times
I guess my real question here is whether or not this is the standard across all firms, I honestly don't know if I am in a toxic work environment as this is my first job in the legal field so I lack a baseline comparison. It's not all bad, I do like my coworkers and other than pay practices the company culture isn't bad. I would stay until law school next year, but also wouldn't hesitate to jump ship if there is greener grass elsewhere.
