For a while now i have a need to own my own stuff mode independently. I'm fond of making tech work for me, loved it to have the lights turn on and off when i get home etc.
I'm 43, behind the development of new things like hypervisors and how those things hook into each other with redundancy etc etc. But, i'm trying my best. got some things running'ish. But it wasnt working as intended. I'm aiming for a 3-2-1 setup.
What i have might not be optimal, but i hope its fine enough to start with. I have a HP Prodesk 600 G2 Mini, i5 core, 32 gb memory, 256gb ssd and a 2tb nvme drive.
What i would like to achieve: A proxmox setup, with multiple drives (mirrored for redundancy). Running: Truenas for storage/NAS functions. VM's to host my local media (plex/jellyfin, i have not decided), photo-backup, home-assistant). I'm not a power-users. I'm fine with 1gb networking, read/write speeds are nice, but i'm not into 4k movie editing so, with a little patience i'll get there.
But to get all the VM's etc running, the basics have to be in order. For redundancy, i would need extra storage. Maybe in the form of 2x external drives?
And for getting it setup, best case, a friend in the neighbourhood to help me allong, but their interest lie elsewhere. So, a guide or resource that i can follow allong would be great.
TLDR: I have a tiny low power pc, that might need 2 external drives to make redundancy viable. I want to start selfhosting some services. I'm lost in the countless options out there. I am an Indian student who recently accepted an offer to the University of Waterloo. As part of the visa process, I need to take an IELTS Academic test for the English Language Requirement.
My first instinct is to take the computer-based test since my typing speed is excellent, the test is available on a lot more dates, and the results say they should arrive in 3-5 days.
However, when I asked a Waterloo India representative about which test to take, ("Is IELTS computer ok or does it have to be taken manually?"), their response was : "Manual and academic. Please don’t jeopardise the visa because of IELTS"
After emailing waterloo admissions about both the visa and waterloo's requirement, they sent me a link to a website that does not mention computer-based or written IELTS explicitly, so it did not clarify my doubts at all.
Is computer-based not accepted for the visa? Do I need to take the written test?

Basically what the title says. This has been so hard for me to admit to myself because my boyfriend and I have been in a long term relationship. I feel like I’ve invested so many years into this relationship. But honestly I think I’m just sick and tired and fed up.
I really just need to let everything off my chest, so I’m sorry for the absolute rant below. - He has nothing good to say about me in front of his family. If his family complains about me, he agrees with them, making me look bad. - His family is outwardly disrespectful to me, even in front of other relatives. And his response is, “I can’t control their actions.” That’s true, but it doesn’t make their behavior towards me okay. - He cusses constantly. He knows I don’t like it, and quite frankly he doesn’t care what I like or don’t like. He does what he wants, and that includes cussing. It includes driving 40mph over the speed limit, even when I’ve specifically asked him to go slower. Displaying a complete disregard for human life and for his own life (do you want to go to jail? Because you wanted to get to your destination a few minutes faster? Seriously?). - He has poor hygiene. Doesn’t believe in showering unless he works out. Doesn’t believe in getting his hair professionally cut. Wears torn up or stained clothes. Looks unkempt 99% of the time. Yet he has the audacity to call me fat?? (His exact words were “you need to hop on a treadmill.” I wear a size 3-4 in jeans, didn’t think that was fat. It’s really affected my self esteem and the way I view my body). - His family home is a literally health hazard. Like it’s literally so disgusting, it’s like one of the befores you see on a hoarding show. I get it, he comes from a broken home. But so do I. My house doesn’t look like that. - he has literally 20+ animals in his home. - between his broken home, his family, and his animals, he hasn’t been able to save up any money for us to start our life together and commit to me. - every time I bring up anything that bothers me up to him (anything, big or small), his response is always “that’s not a big deal.” Or “whatever.” He gaslights me so much. - he doesn’t have any friends of his own. Whenever I take him out on a date or with my friends, he literally acts like he got dragged there. I’ve had so many people tell me he looks like that, and that he didn’t need to come if he didn’t want to. It’s so embarrassing for me. And yet, with his family, he’s got all the energy in the world. So what, am I just not worth expending energy?

I'm currently dating a guy. I like him he's handsome and we really vibe well. He initially started showing red flags of being too clingy the first few days we chatted and called each other. It seems as if he wants to chat throughout the day and have an hour call everyday.
When he told me to call him, i did the first day but the second day, i got so tired I didn't and the next day he unsent some messages and did not anymore respond.

Needless to say he ran in full speed again but surprisingly whenever he shares, he thinks he gives space to his previous girlfriends because he said he doesn't like to occupy too much of someone's time and will give space.
So, because he ran full speed, i was hardly conversant the next day and he said he missed me and I just responded miss you back after several hours. He must have gotten the message and got hurt again, so now he is not responding.
I like him but why is he too much for me? I also surprisingly had a sweet conversation for him for two hours but although i got giddy and find it enjoyable, i felt sad later on and often compare him to a guy friend of mine. With my guy friend, i seem to be happier. Also my guy friend seems to be more similar in communication styles with me and would videocall once a week or every other week so i find it more enjoyable and not suffocating. How do i deal with a clingy guy?
