2024.06.01 14:32 GiaRoma1 NY State Tax Bill = Mistake on NY's Part - response time?

So our business applied for a refundable tax credit and after a long process, received it.
Had it put on our tax return properly. Everything was done correctly by a professional.
After waiting for our NY refund, we eventually get a bill. These dipsticks, put the refundable credit on a line as a tax owed and are now trying to take us for almost 10k.
This was a clear mistake on their end. They gave us only 2 weeks to respond. Which we did pointing out their mistake. Now they are telling us we have to wait up to 180 days for a response to our disagreement about the bill. How is this right?
They made the mistake. A stupid mistake at that - mixing up a refundable credit owed to us and putting it was a tax owed to them.
Has anyone had experience with replying to a NY Tax bill online with a request for review and hearing back quicker? As we depended on this credit for many things and lord knows when we will get it.

2024.06.01 14:20 Strange-Put-6234 AITA for not doing the housechores

My mum has a rule to be up and doing something around the house or just doing something. She also has a rule that she doesn't want dishes after me or her go to bed. Now i absolutely don't have a problem with the dishes thing, for the last week or so l've stayed up till around 4 am doing the dishes and she's in her bed sleeping. 9/10 those dishes aren't mine. They're always left on the side around the kitchen and not in the sink. I use the same cup all day, the same plate/container or whatever for the whole day, so my use of the dishes are very minimal. She will go on a whole rant about the dishes but those are hers. If she just washed her dishes after she uses them we wouldn't lant have this problem. I am a 17F, no i currently don't have a job but i am in education, it is very hard to find a job for a while now, i've had multiple interviews and yes I do be applying non stop. She also goes on a rant at the fact that I don't have a job. She even told me to go to some shops and ask them, and thats exactly what i did so i can shut her up about it because times have changed, it's not like that anymore. It’s all online now.
Everytime my mum goes away on holiday i always clean the sides in the kitchen, mop the floor in the house, clean the bathroom, clean the living room. Basically i clean the whole house so when she gets back its all nice and clean, within a day or two its back to being messy and i refuse to clean and clean it over again because she doesn't keep it neat and tidy. Now the kitchen isn't mad dirty it's a lot of things being misplaced.
One morning I got up, showered, took the clothes out the washing machine and hang them to dry. Now the night before there were dishes in the sink and I wasn't the last one to go to bed. I was really hungry and made myself a hot drink and some food, she was still in her bed with her partner. As I was eating she gets out of bed and starts shouting from somewhere in the house about the dishes, they're wasn't a lot however i just wanted to eat before i do the dishes. I said to her l'm eating and her response was, "why are their dishes in the sink. You couldn't wash the small amount of things in the sink. You think now that you've got your money you can do what you want. She's going on about I don't respect her. Everything I do is I don't respect her, l'm not doing enough around the house. I take the bin out, I be cleaning the house, I take the washing out and hang it to dry, I fold them up and put them away etc.
Honestly I've asked the people i speak to and they don't do half the things I do. She then talks about how me being in the house runs her money, but recently I've been going out a lot its just currently right now its half term and I really just want to chill at home. I do everything I need to do at college, I'm top of the class, done all my assignments, passed every exam, except from one (the last one that i need to retake as i had 3 days notice about the exam).
I feel like l'm never enough for my mother.

Udemy

Advantages of Udemy

Drawbacks of Udemy

Cost on Udemy

Udemy charges a revenue share of 63% on all other course sales and 3% on courses made through instructor coupons. It is free to publish free courses that include less than two hours of video. (Note: Mobile platform fees for sales of mobile courses, as well as processing costs from PayPal or Payoneer, are not included in revenue sharing.)
Why are you offering your first course on Udemy? due to the platform’s abundance of resources for developing and promoting courses.
For instance, if you’re not sure whether your video courses are up to par, you may send in a sample for evaluation.
You’ll receive comments on the audio and video, as well as equipment recommendations.
Additionally, Udemy offers a helpful Teaching Center with instructions on topics like organizing a course, shooting your first video, and other related subjects.
Udemy’s customized marketing courses can help if you’re having trouble closing your first few transactions.
Take advantage of site-wide discounts, have your course highlighted in their email blasts, or sign up for Udemy’s affiliate marketing program.
Udemy gets a cut of course sales; all of these programs are optional. The promotional channel you select will determine how much they take.
Because of the scale of the marketplace you’re competing with, it’s critical that you choose the ideal course topic and evaluate how it compares to other courses on the site using Udemy’s marketplace insights.
This function, which is akin to Google Analytics, provides information on a topic’s popularity on Udemy, search volume, and related keywords.
Additionally, you may view the quantity of courses that are currently available for a given subject, the category’s highest-earning courses, the monthly revenue earned, and the most effective channels for promotion (Udemy search, Udemy discovery, external sources, and paid ads).

Kajabi

Expert designers would benefit most from using Kajabi, one of the most upscale online course platforms.
Kajabi might not be for you if you are a novice or a small business owner.
On the other hand, this is the ideal location if you are an experienced designer looking to start an online academy. This platform even has Amy Porterfield’s endorsement!

Kajabi’s features

cost

The ability to build webinar pipelines is an intriguing feature shared by all of the options.
It also has fantastic marketing options, like expertly branded messaging, because it caters to huge edupreneurs.
The cost is somewhat more than that of the other platforms on this list, but for some users, the attentive, knowledgeable support staff can make up for it.
They could have made the digital offering more varied for the price they ask by including some possibilities, such as vFair’s event gamification tool, but they don’t.
The website may seem overly technical because it was designed with specialists in mind, which may discourage novice course developers from using it.
Overall, it is a costly and comprehensive LMS supplier, according to its reputation.

2024.06.01 13:57 Zenrei02 What happened to Blood Lance/Bone Spear?

No one's talking about these builds this season and Maxroll has them ranked C or D across most endgame activities. What changed?
I skipped Season 3 but I remember having tons of fun with Blood Lance (even though bossing was a bit harder when your build wasn't fully online) in S2 and Bone Spear was basically the best for Pre-Season/S1. I figured with the item rework that getting what you needed would be faster and easier. And considering how all of the aspects from season 2 are here, how did they fall so far?
Is it because the legendaries are barely worth the slot due to tempering? Is it because of the interaction with +Damage and how it doubles when applied to DoT? Barbs have an overpower build that's performing well, so why are our overpower mechanics so lackluster?
And most importantly, is this going to be like this for the whole season? Is there no simple fix that will bring it up to at least "usable" level? Wouldn't it be nice to have more than Minions/Shadow as options for endgame?
-EDIT: I know Bone Spear isn't completely unusable, but Blood Lance seems to be. Would still like to know either way.

We will explore the different types of charts, time frames, and how to use them effectively on TradingView.com. By the end of this chapter, you will have a solid understanding of how to use charts and time frames to analyze and trade the markets.

What are Charts and Time Frames?

Charts and time frames are the foundation of technical analysis. A chart is a graphical representation of a security's price action over a specific period. Time frames, on the other hand, refer to the duration of the data displayed on the chart. In other words, time frames determine how much data is displayed on the chart and how often the data is updated.

Types of Charts

There are several types of charts, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. The most common types of charts are:
1. Line Chart: A line chart connects the closing prices of a security over a specific period, creating a continuous line. This chart is useful for identifying trends and patterns.
2. Candlestick Chart: A candlestick chart displays the high, low, open, and close prices of a security over a specific period. Each candle represents a specific time period, and the color of the candle indicates whether the price closed higher or lower than the previous day's close.
3. Bar Chart: A bar chart is similar to a candlestick chart but does not display the open and close prices. Instead, it shows the high and low prices, as well as the open and close prices.
4. Renko Chart: A Renko chart is a type of chart that uses a unique algorithm to create a chart that is not based on time. Instead, it uses price movements to create a chart that is more focused on the price action.

Time Frames

Time frames determine the duration of the data displayed on the chart. Common time frames include:
1. 1-minute: A 1-minute chart displays the price action over a 1-minute period.
2. 5-minute: A 5-minute chart displays the price action over a 5-minute period.
3. 15-minute A 15-minute chart displays the price action over a 15-minute period.
4. 30-minute: A 30-minute chart displays the price action over a 30-minute period.
5. 1-hour: A 1-hour chart displays the price action over a 1-hour period.
6. 4-hour: A 4-hour chart displays the price action over a 4-hour period.
7. Daily: A daily chart displays the price action over a 1-day period.
8. Weekly: A weekly chart displays the price action over a 1-week period.
9. Monthly: A monthly chart displays the price action over a 1-month period.

What are Technical Indicators and Studies?

Backtesting and Evaluating Trading Ideas

As a trader, it's essential to test and refine your trading ideas before implementing them in live markets. Backtesting and evaluating your trading ideas can help you identify potential flaws, optimize your strategy, and increase your chances of success. In this chapter, we'll explore the process of backtesting and evaluating trading ideas using TradingView.com, a popular platform for charting and backtesting trading strategies.

What is Backtesting?

Backtesting is the process of applying a trading strategy to historical market data to evaluate its performance. It allows you to test your trading idea on past data to see how it would have performed in real-time. By backtesting your strategy, you can:
1. Identify potential flaws in your strategy
2. Optimize your strategy for better performance
3. Refine your strategy to improve its accuracy
4. Evaluate the strategy's risk-reward ratio

Why Backtest?

Backtesting is crucial for several reasons:
1. Risk management: Backtesting helps you identify potential risks associated with your trading strategy.
2. Strategy optimization: Backtesting allows you to refine your strategy to improve its performance.
3. Performance evaluation: Backtesting enables you to evaluate the performance of your strategy and make data-driven decisions.
4. Confidence booster: Backtesting gives you confidence in your strategy, reducing the risk of emotional trading decisions.

How to Backtest on TradingView.com

TradingView.com offers a range of tools and features for backtesting trading ideas. Here's a step-by-step guide to get you started:
1. Create a new chart: Open TradingView.com and create a new chart for the asset you want to backtest.
2. Select the data range: Choose the time period for which you want to backtest your strategy. You can select a specific date range or use the default settings.
3. Add the strategy: Click on the "Indicators" tab and add the strategy you want to backtest. You can use built-in indicators or create your own custom indicators.
4. Set the parameters: Configure the strategy's parameters, such as the number of bars to look back, the number of trades to take, and the stop-loss levels.
5. Run the backtest: Click the "Run" button to start the backtest. TradingView.com will apply your strategy to the selected data range and provide performance metrics.
6. Analyze the results: Review the backtest results, including the strategy's profit/loss, drawdown, and other performance metrics.

Evaluating Trading Ideas

Evaluating your trading idea is a crucial step in the backtesting process. Here are some key metrics to consider:
1. Profit/Loss: Calculate the total profit or loss generated by your strategy.
2. Drawdown: Measure the maximum loss experienced by your strategy.
3. Sharpe Ratio: Calculate the Sharpe Ratio to evaluate the strategy's risk-adjusted performance.
4. Sortino Ratio: Use the Sortino Ratio to evaluate the strategy's risk-adjusted performance, focusing on the maximum drawdown.
5. Information Coefficient: Calculate the Information Coefficient to evaluate the strategy's ability to generate profits.

Best Practices for Backtesting

To get the most out of backtesting, follow these best practices:
1. Use a robust data set: Ensure your data is accurate and free from errors.
2. Test multiple scenarios: Test your strategy on different time frames, assets, and market conditions.
3. Monitor performance metrics: Keep track of your strategy's performance metrics and adjust as needed.
4. Refine your strategy: Continuously refine your strategy to improve its performance.
5. Avoid overfitting: Be cautious of overfitting, where your strategy performs well on the training data but poorly on new data.

Conclusion

Backtesting and evaluating trading ideas is a crucial step in the trading process. By using TradingView.com and following best practices, you can refine your trading strategy, optimize its performance, and increase your chances of success. Remember to evaluate your strategy's performance using relevant metrics and refine it continuously to improve its performance. With practice and patience, you'll develop a robust trading strategy that can withstand the challenges of the markets.

2024.06.01 12:19 EveryReason2485 A Bit Of an Early Post About My Enquiries.

I'm a student who's planning to study in Germany. I took my Goethe B1 Exam last week and hoping that I'll pass and continue working on my language. Applying to universities all around Germany as well. But this post isn't the one to enquire but more of just to catch a feeling about y'all. Social media is toxic and we all know that, IG has been pushing a lot of German Political Content to my feed from both sides the AFD which to my understanding doesn't like international student (Especially ones from the middle east like myself) and the other sides which promotes that Germany and the German people welcome anyone who's willing to come to their land and work and create a family and a life there (AKA be a normal productive member in society). I also have an American friend (F34) who told me that the later way of thinking is more common. But I didn't actually take her words to the heart as things maybe different based on place of origin and where you're planning to live in Germany. So I thought that I'd take it to reddit and ask the people directly. How do you feel about international students in general? and according to my experience online I'll answer a question in advance: If I hopefully had the opportunity to move to Germany (Visa & Admission Letter and the rest...) then I'm not planning to just benefit from the tuition free education and leave Germany for a better place, I actually want to create a stable life if I had the chance and even work on achieving my dreams inside of Germany because my field - as I heard - is still growing and has tons of potential for development in Germany and because (this one is a personal reason) I like way y'all are specifically the dry sense of humor and Ruhezeit makes Germany attractive to me as a place. As I've said, this is not the full post because things aren't clear yet and idk if I'd get the chance, but I was really working on that chance for the past year and I hope that I'll get it. Thanks for reading <<3
Edit: I labeled it as Tourism wrongly, so sorry. I meant to label it as "Student" stuff. Edit 2: tons of typos, as someone who can't help but correct people, please feel free to correct what I did not correct now.

2024.06.01 12:13 JustGianlu Máster en Formación del Profesorado de ESO y Bachillerato, online, fast, from abroad

Hi all,
first of all, sorry for writing in English. I can speak Spanish fluently but I would feel more comfortable by keeping this conversation in English.
I need to have this master done, however I live abroad and work quite a lot, so it will be a real struggle, but I am ready for it.
I would do that oriented to "teaching" a foreigner language. I unfortunately need this document to fulfill a requirement for some opportunities I am planning to consider in the future, even though I love Spain, I am not considering to apply to a teacher position there, I basically just need the paperwork done.
For this reasons, I am looking for suggestions on what is considered the more foreigners-friendly (more living-abroad-friendly) online university to offer this course.
-"easy" to pass
-exams online (I don't think this is possible) or at least exams condensed in the least amount of days
-practicum found by the uni, flexible in days/hours (I know there's no way to do this remotely, so I am ready to spend few weeks there, given they are the least amount of weeks possible, or maybe flexible with choosing weekday e.g. all thursdays, fridays, saturdays)
I don't mind the price, well I do, but I am ready to save on on other aspects of my life to prioritise this.
I hope I will find support on these questions, this is really the last resort given I have no contacts in Spain, if you know somebody having these information, I would be glad to offer beer-money for a quick call.

2024.06.01 12:09 Ok_Key2328 [Routine Help] Rosacea and Mild Acne Treatment- Is Azelaic Acid breaking me out?

Hey everyone. I have vascular rosacea and mild acne. I’m an 18 year old male in a dry climate with dry acne-prone skin.
Right now my routine is:
AM
LRP Toleraine Hydrating Gentle Cleanser
Dermatica Azelaic Acid 15%
The Ordinary Caffeine EGCG applied to whole face
Vanicream Moisturizing Cream (tub)
Neutrogena Sport Face SPF 70
PM
(Same Cleanser, double cleanse)
Differin Gel
(Same Moisturizer)
I’ve done the above routine for about ~6 months minus the Azelaic acid. It all worked well against acne and puffiness/eyebags once I acclimated to using retinol every night after 3-4 weeks, but my rosacea has still been quite bad. So I added the Azelaic acid about 2 weeks ago, but now I’m breaking out with acne, especially in the mouth area, forehead, and between eyebrows.
Not sure if it’s significant but I’ll also add that the particular Azelaic acid cream has been left in my shelf for a 4-5 months without being used. I kept the cap on, and it’s been in a temperature controlled room in a dark shelf and is not past expiration date but still a bit unsure because it has a faint odor and stings very slightly upon contact but nothing significant and goes away fast.
I’ll also add that there hasn’t really been any significant life things like stress, dehydration, diet change or anything I’ve done to my face since that would contribute to a breakout.
Should I drop the Azelaic? Or go for a lesser concentration? Or how else can I treat my rosacea?
Any tips for my routine with stuff available at a drugstore or at Ulta/or online if budget friendly, would also definitely be welcomed.

2024.06.01 12:04 RoveForever International student in UK applying for e-visa

I am currently pursuing a master's degree in the UK, and my final lecture for the semester is on the 18th of June. However, my submission is on the 3rd of July, marking the end of the term. I am not physically required to be at the university since the submission is online. Therefore, I went ahead and booked tickets to Thailand (I have a family wedding) for the 19th of June.
I applied for an e-visa and was asked to provide a letter from my employer addressing the Royal Thai Embassy in London. Since I am a full-time student, I requested a letter from my university. Unfortunately, they did not accept the request and said they couldn't authorize it since it's during term-time.
I emailed them explaining the situation, but since I am running out of time, I submitted a letter I received from the university earlier, which says "To Whom It May Concern."
My question is: will this affect my visa? Thank you in advance.

2024.06.01 11:58 terrythewolf Entering market research while aiming for marketing technology or marketing operations

Hi! Received an offer for an entry-level position in a market research firm. My plans are to end up in marketing technology or marketing operations later down the line. Is this a good starting point so that I can pivot into these paths? It's not as common in my country to get an entry-level position in these paths, which is why I'm considering this market research offer. Originally, I was also applying for digital marketing roles, but I haven't gotten any calls back from any of the companies I applied for; so, I've been getting really tempted to accept this offer in spite of the pretty neutral (...) reviews I've been seeing online about this firm's workload. At the same time I don't really want to waste my time in this job if the experience I'll get isn't useful for these paths.

2024.06.01 11:47 billyybong Landlord wants to increase rent from 6.5k to 36k. Need advise.

Hello. This would be a bit of a long post:
Background: No written contract before. My dad only had a verbal agreement with them more than 31yrs ago (my age). That's right. My family has been renting at the same place even before I was born. To add, we shouldered all maintenance expenses including electrical faults from their end. The landlord recently wrote a contract that shows the new rent will be 36k from 6.5k. My mom outright declined it.
I understand that inflation happens and 6.5k is low for the size of our house and its near a prime location in Metro Manila. However, it's too much for a single increase. Don't you agree? It won't be an issue if it's gradual increase for years
Plot twist: it's an open rumor that they don't own the house. Though, they say they pay property tax. The OG landlord (his father, deceased) was the caretaker who took advantage of the owner migrating/losing interest/forgetting. Only they know exactly, but of course they won't admit it.
Not sure if the plot twist matters, but I just want to put that detail there. I initially thought of saving up and offering to buy the house outright from them (even if they don't really own it). With the way things are going, I'm thinking they would overprice the property too much too afford.
I searched online and RA 9653 states a max 7% per annum. Does it apply to our situation wherein there's no written contract? I believe there are hand written receipts proving we are only paying 6.5k ever since.
Thank you for any advise so I know what I need say to the barangays or even courts if they escalate.

2024.06.01 11:10 Witty-Awareness9276 California State Clep Pathway starting at 13 yrs old.

If your child does not plan to attend the UC system or Stanford they only need to take 30 classes in order to attain 90 credits of their degree at a state school (SF State, Chico State Etc.)
The example of college classes for SF State is broken down here SF State CLEP Breakdown on College Board which is updated here on SF State website and you can use any of the State websites they should all have this information. Accepted CLEP exams on SF State website. Now when you look at a degree path for any undergraduate program you will have a group of core courses that are mandatory which are basically a repeat of what you take in high school. So for the first two years of college you are repeating the 10th through 12th grades.
You have English and composition, Social Sciences, Math and Science that make up your core classes. **Hold on I read the fine print.**
At SF State there is a cap on Exam Credits at 30 Credits. (There are many liberal arts online colleges that don't have a cap)
None of their CLEP exams satisfy the Area A requirements.
So 30 credits is one year of schooling of which you can satisfy GE requirements.
Area B: Scientific Inquiry and Quantitative Reasoning – 9 units minimum
You cannot take a Lab for CLEP so B1, B2 and B4 requirements can be met, but you may have to take a class with a lab in order to complete the requirements for your program depending on your major.
Biology5033B2 Calculus5033B4 Chemistry5033B1 College Algebra5033B4 College Algebra - Trigonometry5033B4

Natural Sciences5033B1 or B2 Pre-Calculus5033B4

Trigonometry5033B4
Area C: Arts and Humanities – 9 units minimum
You can definitely satisfy the Humanities, and possibly two of the other arts requirements for the C section so two classes from this section definitely so 6 credits.
American Literature5033C2 Analyzing and Interpreting Literature5033C2

English Literature5033C2

Humanities5033C2

Western Civilization I5033C2
Area D: Social Sciences – 6 units minimum
This entire section can be resolved for GE requirements of 6 credits.
American Government5033D+ USG

History, United States I5033D+ USH History, United States II5033D+ USH

Introductory Psychology5033D Introductory Sociology5033D

Principles of Macroeconomics5033D

Principles of Microeconomics5033D

Western Civilization II5033D
So that is definitely 21 GE satisfying credits that are fully transferrable to the state school level. SF state caps Community college transfer credits at 70 credits that is 90 transfer credits all together leaving just one year at State in residency. You can take another 3 classes as CLEPS but they would probably be applied to electives, but you can take CLEPS in your child's field of interest. That would mean less classes at the Community College or 4 yr level. So if a child is going into business and clep out Principles of Marketing for example.
If your child begins and has the rigor they can fill their schedule with CC classes and then fill the rest of their time with CLEP tests. If they are going to school concurrently then where I am they can start at 15-16 at the CC. They then have to take the scraps of classes not filled which can be difficult to plan out.
If there are others out there who see what I may have missed please let me know.
