So as the title suggests, I'm looking for Naruto Fics where multiple settings are crossing over with Naruto. Preferably with franchises I know and am familiar with, but at this point I'm willing try my luck with uncharted territory.
Of the settings I really want to see, RWBY, Highschool DxD and Bleach are right at the top, with Kingdom Hearts and Dark Souls right behind them.

It's hard to pick out a 3 movie run in a series of 10 but I feel these 3 movies deserve the mention. I think F1-F4 are all entertaining movies but are mid. The first 2 feel very dated now although the OG has its pros. But Fast Five changed things up big time and brought life back into the franchise. The next 2 maintain the same quality I feel and Furious 7 has the perfect ending this series could have asked for. F8-F10 become the Dominic Toretto show and physics, logic and reason have no place in them at all. It has become a meme worthy series now and the dwindling box office results of the last 2 are signs that fans are losing interest.
Anyways, coming to the F5-F7 trilogy, F5 is the blueprint to what the franchise has now become. But it feels very fresh and organic here. There is an 'edge' to it. Dominic still has the anti-hero swagger which got lost F7 onwards. The Rock as Hobbs was a menacing presence. The favelas of Brazil added a lot of atmosphere and the plot involving 3 parties colliding with each others' interest was engrossing.
Fast and Furious 6 is arguably just as good as Fast Five. 2/3 of the movie is set in London and that might arguably be the best portion of the series. This is the first time a character returns from the death. But they have a cheat here since we never actually saw Letty die in F4. Luke Evans' Owen Shaw is a very charismatic presence. Nice to see Hobbs join the team. The initial chase through the streets of London is very fun. And it's exciting to see Hobbs' team take on Shaw's similar team. Each character again gets their fair share of screentime. The Dom vs Letty race is fantastic. Lot of tension there. When things move to Spain is when physics gets abused badly although the tank scene and the airport runaway scene are really fun. I love how in these movies almost all members of the team get to do physical stuff. Unlike say Mission Impossible or Bond where it's Ethan or Bond in action as the rest sit out behind the screens. Credit where it is due, each sequence in the F&F franchise has so many moving parts in them. Fast and Furious 6 ends on a good note where the team get pardons and return to LA.
Furious 7 has less of a reason to exist and is a bit of a downgrade in quality but I have to credit James Wan here for good direction. It being Paul walker's last movie also holds value. The Caucasus mountains action scene is arguably the best setpiece of the series. Kurt Russel was a nice addition and Statham is intimidating as well. But I do feel Abu Dhabi and LA sequences get too gimmicky. I also dislike how Vin diesel starts dominating proceedings in this one. Previously things were nicely balanced with Walker's Brian. But the ending they give to Walker is worth the movie.
So if any new viewers are interested, F5-F7 is must watch in the action genre. The earlier ones can be ignored. And F8-F10 are devoid of any logic or reasonable story. The whole formula gets stale at this point. Even the action spectacles lose creativity at this point. When cars start taking on submarines is when you know filmmakers dont respect the audience anymore.
But it shouldn't take away that Fast Five and Furious 6 are great action pics.

Hi I'm new here and kind of curious of how everyone here love shoujo manga/manhwa/manhua. In my case despite being new to shoujo, I'm always a big fan of anime since kid. I grew up watching good old popular anime like Captain Tsubasa, Pokemon, Air Gear, Naruto, One Piece and Bleach that's aired in national TV at that time. In junior high I want some romance focused story cuz those animes really lacking that (and for my self identity purpose too) so after reading some recommendations online I started watching Maid-sama, Ouran, Kiss Him Not Me, Ao Haru Ride, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun and My Love Story. Sadly those animes don't have second season no matter how much I waited so I gravitate to webtoon/manhwa in high school till college (kpop+kdrama too).
Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen is what brought me back to anime but idk why romance animes during that period never clicked with me. After watching Colleen Manga Recs video in YouTube I finally understand why. Romcom animes that time mostly are from shonen/seinen series with lots of (male gaze) fanservice which is fine if I'm lesbian (which is not) and I finally understand that I only watch anime for the male characters while the lacking for female (gaze) fanservice in anime industry is too much! It's so saddening! That's why I return back to manhwa who has ton of handsome male characters with sexy- I mean healthy body and the female protagonist also have more variety in personality.
However the storyline in manhwa lately becoming more monotone than ever and most manwha author's preferences in ML stressed me out greatly so I kinda get lost until I watched A Sign of Affection. After that I watched some more videos from Colleen Manga Recs and personally become curious of some shoujo manga that got featured there. And so I decided to seriously started reading shoujo mangas lately and thus far I meet more hits than misses so I'm satisfied and hooked, maybe I have shoujo manga craze haha. However not all female protagonist in shoujo manga match my aesthetic tho so maybe I should started reading some josei series.
I wonder if someone here has similar experience to me or has totally different one so please share some of your stories!

So my account has been perma banned after playing the game from lunch and collecting pretty much every item in the game,reaching max lvl. So I was pissed when I got a notification that I was suspended so I emailed Bandai and found out that it isn’t a suspension it’s a complete ban I can’t even get an appeal for it so idk what’s next anymore for my shinobi strikers journey.
Abit more context I didn’t use any 3rd party to get cosmetics or use hacks or anything I’ve only ever played on PlayStation and clueless on how to do those things.

hi, this might be a long one. i (22F) started dating my boyfriend (24M) when i was 19 years old. previous to us dating he was diagnosed with leukaemia and went through chemo and a bone marrow stem cell transplant. his cancer was then gone and he was feeling more like himself, although he was dealing with some minor symptoms of graft vs host disease (GVHD) which is something that develops after a stem cell transplant. when we started dating, he was going to treatment for his symptoms of GVHD and taking regular medications but he seemed like any other healthy person. we went out on dates and hung out with our friends (being mindful bc covid had just started). His health then started to decline over the year of 2022. this is entirely my fault bc i had emotionally cheated on him. the relationship had a lot of issues and i obviously dealt with them in the worst way possible so no need to comment and tell me how horrible of a person i am, i am very much aware and hold a tremendous amount of guilt since i am the reason he is now sick again bc of how mush i stressed him out. but since then his health was rapidly declining, and he got admitted to the hospital in nov 2022. he was in the hospital for a month and had to have a g-tube procedure. Since leaving the hospital his health is not good and he is not going to anything appointments. Currently, he takes his medications bc he will not attend his doctor appts (he hasn’t seen his doctor since july 2023) and he is supposed to be going every four weeks. he doesn’t attend his physio programs or any mental health programs or his ecp program which is meant for reducing symptoms of the GVHD. over this time the GVHD has worsened and he stays in bed all day, sleeps for majority of the day and never leaves the house. he is a lot of pain for most of the day. he can’t really see his friends due to lack of immune system and energy. his family still makes appts for him to go down every week but he doesn’t go. i practically live with him and his family bc i am there every day and sleepover every night. when he says he doesn’t want to go to these appts he says that he try’s but he is unable to. mainly from anxiety, lack of motivation to the point where he feels like he can’t physically get up (which i think may be depression) or bc of stomach issues he has. i normally push and push for him to go and end up getting upset when he says he won’t. fights with his family also occur bc they are pushing him to go. recently he has been saying he doesn’t want to do this anymore. he said that the doctor says all of these treatments and physio plans, etc. will be to prevent further illness or worsening of symptoms, not to bring him back to how he used to be. now he wants to take his g-tube out (which means he won’t be able to take any of his medications) and just wait to die i guess.. he is only 24, and the whole reason he got this sick again is because of me. i’m not sure what to do. if i keep pushing him to go to the appts and stuff i know it will upset him and cause arguments between us. but idk how to just accept that he wants to die… any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

FATHER" I'm glad that you are here." Rampage" Pleasure doing business with you." FATHER" We are nearly there." Rampage" I sense some good spirit energy. Let me make a quick stop." FATHER" Make it quick." Rampage challenges some people.
Rampage" Who is next?" Geo appears and says" I guess I am now." Rampage thinks" That spirit energy. He's one of the strong ones. I can see it in his eyes." Geo struggles to keep up with his strikes. Sid" What do you mean Keira?" Keira" I wish I had powers so I could protect you guys and fight alongside you. If CJ could have power behind I could. I wanted to know if you would train me?" Sid" Ah yeah. Sure. First I need you to hit my fists." She does. Sid" Good but harder. " Phil and Fasha laughs(good laughs). Keira continues to work on her strikes. Cumi name change. Was supposed to sound like cute. New name. Cuimi(kwee-me). Cuemi(q-me). Cuimi(c-oo-me). New name is Cuemi. Cuemi has a vision. Cuemi" Wait! There are these people and there are shredded. Strider and Spike vs Buzz. Spike uses earth boulders and traps him however, he escapes. He appears him and attacks. Strider does some combo attacks but his body keeps becomes bugs. Buzz's hand(cut off) becomes made of bugs. He claps his hands together and and his bugs get bigger. Spike hits it but it hurts his hand. Spike" What's that thing made of! It nearly broke my hand." Buzz chuckles. Strider launches a fireball but it is not phase it. Strider" What kind of a bug is that?" It spits out something. The attack hard just like it's body. Buzz" I know you can do better than that. With the 2 of you, you can do it." Spike" Strider!" Strider" What do you want?" Spike" When we fought him last time, we were able to get the upper hand because we were together and had him frozen."
Strider" I know what you mean. Hey julmbo and Tinn! We need you guys help!" Julmbo" We're in the middle of a fight." Tinn" Well it does seem like it's important." Julmbo" Fine we on the way." Ending. Julmbo manages to freeze Buzz" Massk tries to stop it but Tinn hold him off. Strider delivers a fiery uppercut and he breaks. Strider" It's over." The others are happy. Wiggy's story with her brothers and her wig is shown. Many years ago. Haira(hair-ah) and Jakob always wanted a pet when they were little but didn't have enough money. Eventually they would get lucky to have enough money. The 1st pet was a dog. The dog would bite Jakob and he snapped the dogs neck. Jakob was always rough with toys. Jakob didn't know how to get along with others. Prefered to play by himself. When their brother was born, Jakob would hold him incorrectly. Wodu Akali. Their mother would correct him. One day he ended up strangling Wodu. Haira had to put an end to it. Their mother and father saw that Jakob was a threat. He needs to go. His parents are shown crawling away and begging for help. He tries to kill them and does. Jakob is then locked up in a special prison.
Jakob is a psychopath and manages to kill the guards(years lateadult). Bugs would appear from their corps. FATHER'S voice would be heard , telling him to touch the bugs. He does. Bugs begins to course through his veins. He'd then escapes. His powers then grew at a phenomenal rate. He would meet Heather who was the love of his life. What Jakob did not bring up, was that Heather had mental issues and was unstabled. Just like him. Regardless of her issues, he ignored it and treated her like a regular person. Perfect for each other. People had there eyes on her and wanted her dead. She was causing trouble. Heather was set up and killed. Burned at her home. Jakob goes in to save her but his mouth gut burned but. He didn't save her. Afterwards, he'd see another person who looked exactly like his Heather. Harper. While Jakob was locked up, Haira would get different pets. However they ran away.
FATHER's voice is heard. She is an Anti-Sapiens. She wanted to know if she is truly immortal. FATHER told her about what the Spirit World did. She jumped off a steep cliff. When she opened her eyes, she woke up in bed(when an immortal jumps off a cliff, they can't die/even the Royal Family or just the God and Goddess). She had survived. FATHER tells her about a pet that will be very useful to her. She sees hair but it begins to move. It took her awhile to catch it but finally does. It talks and is Saiivo. The wig explains the hair to her. The Wig crawls on her head and attaches itself to her scalp. From that day on, she can use the Wig to do what she wants. Just like a pet. Story over.

Tinn" Congratulations you two(remembers him from earlier)." The Justice Drivers all wishes them luck.
While leaving, Draum looks back and sees the look on Harper's face. Harper begins to signal a look with her eyes. Draum" Something is not right here." Strider" What are you talking about?" The Justice Drivers arrive late but not intended. They go for a sneak attack. Jakob" What did they come from?" Strider" Time to take you out, asshole!" Julmbo" You will pay for everything you've done!" The Justice Drivers battles him 5 on 1(+ Draum). Jakob" (he laughs)Don't think for one second I'm intimidated. I'm a god-damned Anti-Sapien for Pete's sake." Towards the end of the fight, Julmbo manages freeze Jakob. Strider is going to burn him up. However, an interruption occurs. Lights go out. When they return, he's being carried out by a weird crawly thing(large). Draum" What is that thing? One of his bugs?!" The crawly thing says" (female voice)Not by my watch." Spike" Damnit! We were so close!!" Tinn" All that work. For nothing."
Crawly thing is a woman. FATHER" That was a close one. We have to be more careful. Thanks for the save, Wiggy. Wiggy" Don't mention it." Jakob wakes up. Jakob" what are you doing here? Sister(older)." Wiggy" Saving your ass." FATHER" We're nearly there. It's time for a visit." Jakob" Where might that be?" FATHER" Togyu Manji. There are 3 more Anti-Sapiens there. We'll need to unite with them. Then the Anti-Sapiens will be invincible." Wiggy" Now that's a plan." Jakob has a nonchalant look on his face. Doesn't like to get help from his sister. Togyu Manji. Takei and Tijiri pay Jim a visit. FATHER" So how are we coming along?" Jim" I have finished the first device and went to the future to get the the super suit. Just a few touches on the last device." FATHER" Wait! There's one more thing I need you to do specifically." Jim" And what is that?" FATHER" I need you to give it to her personally. Put the brainwashing device inside the super suit." Jim" I can't do that!! Are you mad?" FATHER" That is the point." Takei and Tijiri both stare at him evilly. Jim" Fine I'll do it(sad voice)." Tijiri" That's the spirit." FATHER" 2 more Anti-Sapiens are on their way. All we have to do is sit back and wait." Takei" I'm bored. Going to harass some people." Tijiri" Have fun." FATHER" Call your daughter over and tell her the suit is finished." He does. Jillian arrives with CJ. Jim" It seems you have company?" Jillian" This is CJ. We met a few days ago." Jillian" Back for more?" Tijiri" This time it's different. I feel bad for you. Attack!" Jillian strikes CJ. CJ" What was that for?" She tries to snap out of it but can't. CJ" Snap out of it!! Sez" It seems you can absorb whatever you touch then distribute it to any body part." Tijiri" Right you are. It is sad that you came just to die." Jillian" Your opponent is me." Sez gets distracted. Jillian" Never take your eyes off the ball, evil duer."

You are but a person who is for herself and not anyone else(still talking the same)." Jillian" Take That back(deep voice). Do my ears deceive me? Did I really just hear that? I want you to know that I can never be this fowl creature of a person, you call villain." They both continue to talk like heros. CJ and Tijiri both get distracted of it what they are saying. Tijiri" Will you 2 can it already!! All of your stupid super hero talk is giving me a damn headache!!" Sez" You just don't appreciate our work." He's about to keep talking but Tijiri punched him. Tijiri" Oh no you don't." Jillian is doing the same thing. Tijiri" No not you to! I'm kinda regretting her being on our side." FATHER" Oh you can bare her." Tijiri" I don't think so. Wait a minute, we're supposed to be fighting. You've got me distracted! Let's finish this up shall we!"
Ending. CJ and Sez are about to be finished. Fasha appears. Tijiri" I remember you. Your appearance doesn't matter." Eyashi and Team Blaze appears. Eyashi" Back for more. Wasn't expecting you to show up." Tijiri" I'm not ready to fight, so I'm going to skedaddle." They both leave. Zushi" Good thing we came in time. Didn't you say that he left last time(looking at Eyashi)?" Eyashi" What are they planning? They are clearly up to something. This happened again with the Justice Drivers. They are waiting for something but what?" Fasha" Why was Lady Lightning with Tijiri?" CJ" She just started to attack me." Phil" Whose this guy?" Sez is going to talk like a hero when CJ cuts him off. CJ" Oh no you don't!" Sez l" I wasn't going to do the talk! I'm Sez Unemori. I saw this girl in trouble so I helped her. I was here for someone. I heard they moved here. Do you know group called Team Earth."
Sid" Of course we do." Sez" Oh that's great." Eyashi" Welcome to Team Blaze. You'll be a great ally. I'll show you where they are." Sez" That's great." CJ" We still don't know what happened to Lady Lightning. Even on the other side, she still seemed in character." Jim is shown hiding and says" It was me. I did it(comes out of hiding). I didn't want to though(crying). I'm Jim Madame. That was my daughter. I was forced to do it." Eyashi" Who? Please tell us." Jim is shaking/looking nervous. Jim" I trust you. I'll tell you. It was FATHER." Everyone says FATHER. He was communicating with his mind. He had the the Anti-Sapiens with him. Forced me to make the super suit to lure her in. And the Brainwashing device was if she'd be rebellious. He mentioned wanting to get the Anti-Sapiens together." Eyashi" It all makes sense now. Now we have think about where are they going and we already know. Togyu Manji. We have to round up everyone. We'll go get Team Earth first."
FATHER calls his children their Anti-Sapien name, rather than their real name. Takei is shown terrorizing. Takei" Now this is fun. Scream all you want. It won't help you(laughs)." A woman appears. Takei" What are you doing to me(sarcastic tone)? She" I can't let you hurt any bystanders." Takei" Oh we'll see about that." She turns into a demon Beast. Tiger Demon. Takei" Wow. Did not expect to see that trick." Time passes. A male appears this time. Takei" Where'd he come from?" He becomes a demon as well. Demon Bear. Takei" Demon power? They must be from the same place?" Another one appears. He is an Animal Humanoid Gorilla. He is stuck in his form. Demon Gorilla.
Tijiri" The 3 of you still can't beat me." Sidney arrives. Takei" You still need more people to fight me." Sidney" It sure took you guys awhile to get to the area. You're going down." Takei" You know, I think I have a few more minutes. Let's do it." Sidney summons his weapon. The others join in. Takei" That's the spirit. Join in. The more the merrier." Eyashi" We have actually discovered something. We've got word that the Anti-Sapiens are joining up. I believe it is going to be here." Corroshi" Why do you think that?" Fasha" Togyu Manji is a very large area. They probably want to takeover here. And besides, there's a lot of incidents that occur here anyways." Corroshi" Nice response." Zushi" We needed to round up everyone and warn them. We need everyone here. We need your help." Corroshi" You can count on me." Sez" Hey Corroshi?" Corroshi turns around says" Do I know you?" Sez" It's me Sez. From the tournament." Corroshi" Oh yeah. I remember you not. You are the one who tried to cheat." Sez" That's me." Corroshi" So why did you come back?"
Sez" I heard you moved wanted to know if you let you join your team?" Corroshi" Well of course you can. Welcome aboard!" Sez" Aw thanks." Geo and the others aren't there yet. Now everyone is together. Rischardo" Since we're up against Anti-Sapiens, I want everybody to know this. If any of you see Anti-Sapiens named Ira and Danly Indies, there my kids and I'll deal with them. Ira has red hair and Danly has orange hair." Everyone is training with each other. Sid" What do you mean Keira?" Keira" I wish I had powers so I could protect you guys and fight alongside you. If CJ could have power behind I could. I wanted to know if you would train me?" Sid" Ah yeah. Sure. First I need you to hit my fists." She does. Sid" Good but harder. " Phil and Fasha laughs(good laughs). Keira continues to work on her strikes. Cumi name change. Ra-Ibo and Kungaru power greater than God of Spirit world and demonic king

As I was seated on that toilet seat, calming my body with the relieving sensation of excretion, I was reminded of why the toilet helps many a person with giving off inspiration. I thought to myself, hey, why not do an over-the-top analysis on my favourite show Total Drama cuz why not? So yeah, here I am, writing this.
The ‘nice athletic girl’ trope was one that was birthed from the start of the series but only really popularized and mainstreamed and beat down by most fans in recent times. The general definition is that the female ‘de facto main character’ of the ensemble cast would be an athletic female who also happens to be ‘nice’. Some throw about the terms bland and Mary Sue, but I digress. Now personally, I thought I’d take a deep-dive analysis into the girls who qualify for this trope and whether or not they actually deserve to be labelled as such or if it’s harsh on them. I’ll be analyzing the writing per usual, since that’s my main fun off of this show and look at if this term holds water or not. Now, the characters I see qualify for this role are Bridgette, Zoey, Sky and Priya so those are whom I’ll be focusing on. I won’t count Beth because her ‘niceness’ is thrown into question and is not conventionally athletic, Gwen because she isn’t conventionally nice either and no-one from RR since I don’t feel like anybody there checks the appropriate boxes, Carrie comes the closest, but probably not, no. So let’s begin. Also do note that I’ll be mostly objective so no matter your opinions on them, I’ll remain impartial for the most part. Brace yourselves, this will be a long post:
Bridgette:
Bridgette was the debut of this trope and while many exclude her from the discussion, she is athletic and nice and a girl so technically she fits the trope. I find it hilarious that Priya and Zoey compete in more episodes than her despite both having a season less and only being in 13 episode seasons. This indicates that Bridgette is not too good at the game. And well, she isn’t really that much. Let’s start with her Island representation.
Her main role this season was to serve as the ‘straight girl’, the calm presence to allow the other characters with more fun personalities to hog the spotlight, Heather, Gwen, Leshawna and Lindsay included. She forms a few inconsequential friendships with Gwen and Courtney which never get brought up again in future seasons and her main thing is hooking up with Geoff. Her challenge performances are decent. Her athleticism is shown a few times, coming when she did that handstand or jumped off the cliff. She was also shown to be a good cook and was generally a pretty helpful teammate and she had a few flitting moments here and there, but never gave off main character energy. The merge gave way to her other side, being the mediator between all the girls and their conflicts, probably because she’s easily the most rational of the lot. Technically, this does mean she’s more or less a supporting character the whole time, but someone’s gotta take that role. Her elimination also mainly serves to further the Geoff’s internal conflict and loyalties and also give Duncan his flowers as the most competent strategist of this season, his guys’ alliance managing to successfully pick off one of the girls, her, and yes Heather strategized too, but her strats were pretty weak let’s be real as she mainly relied on luck considering she was speedrunning turning everyone against her. Ultimately, she served her role till the end and that’s fine. Obviously her trope would be given much more relevance for her future iterations but that’s basically Bridgette’s run in Island, a glorified supporting character, kind of like Leshawna but less in your face and with a romance subplot too with Geoff.
In Action and World Tour, her relevance drops significantly. Action has her first boot after excessively making out with Geoff before appointing her as an Aftermath host where she continues to be a supporting character as her main role was to snap Geoff out of his Captain Hollywood arc while just acting as a secondary host. I’d argue Action was her least relevant season as well. For World Tour, she only lasts around 4 episodes and she’s mainly there to, say it with me kids, be a supporting character to someone else! Yay! This time to Alejandro, mainly to show off his ladies charm. She then has a smaller arc of apologizing to Geoff for trying to kiss Al, beefing with Blaineley and making friends with Bruno the bear but she’s just there to continue being the Aftermath host every now and then alongside Geoff.
Overall, Bridgette is a nice athletic girl, though one with very little relevance. She spends most of her screentime being a supporting character for other arcs and being the straightwoman to the other characters. This doesn’t necessarily mean she’s poorly written, but she isn’t exactly a main character either. She serves her role, but doesn’t do much outside of it.

Zoey:
Zoey’s probably the most controversial of these four girls. Terms like bland, Mary Sue, Zoeys*e or whatever else is thrown around quite often. I can see why people don’t necessarily like her, but let’s look at it objectively to see if she’s worth the hate.
In Revenge of the Island, Zoey’s there to form one of the crutches of the main romance of the season. One of the factors that plays in her favor is how involved she is with a lot of folks, formulating a victim-turned-rivalry relationship with Scott, a romance with Mike, friendship with winner Cameron and a few throwaway relationships like her rivalry with Anne Maria and her ‘friendship’ with Dakota. Now, I’d argue that she doesn’t fit the trope completely this season, mainly due to the fact that she’s not too athletic. She’s seen as passive and struggles a lot in physical challenges. That’s not to say she didn’t have capabilities before Commando Zoey, but they’re too forgettable. Her first few episodes build on her relationship with Mike and give us a less dramatic love triangle between her, Anne Maria and Mike, technically a square since Vito feels like a different character, but whatever. We also see our main baddie of the season Scott begin placing seeds of doubt in Zoey, which blossoms in her distrust in Mike for episodes 8 and 9, pushing their relationship to their breaking point before Mike finally bests his alters and completes his arc. I do find her a bit hypocritical in saying she loves oddballs but is weirded out by the way odder Dawn, but I digress. She then has a full-on rivalry with Scott in which she emerges victorious, commenting that Scott really brings the jerk out of her, that jerk being Commando Zoey. This is where her powers are born and take over her body. She basically becomes unstoppable then, beefing with Chef and she could have easily booked a place in the finale, but she sacrificed it for no real reason as she could have went and won the challenge and then went back to save Cameron from Larry. Regardless, her arc is well thought out and despite a few hiccups, she went through multiple character defining moments, but managed to grow and make friends and understand the value of friendship or whatever sappy message they were conveying.
To be frank, Zoey is really good in Revenge and I don’t have much issue with her, as she fulfils her multiple roles, being part of the main romance, causing the downfall of the main antagonist and being the main support system for the winner of the season, pushing forward the themes of friendship over lone wolf stuff. (Sha-Lightning is way better than Cam though). Irrespective, it is All-Stars where her character turns confusing. For one, she gains all her Commando Zoey power-ups in normal form, even when she was shown to have normal physical traits when in normal form. However, she was a winner in this season, so did she deserve to win?
While Zoey won All-Stars, I’d argue the main female character for that season was Gwen. Gwen was at the heart of conflict and Gwen was the one who ‘grew’ and was meant to receive the arc. Of course, I believe it’s horribly executed since it makes Gwen look like a hypocrite and victimise her even though she wasn’t necessarily in the right most of the time. Regardless, this is the role that Gwen occupies, even if it's poorly written. Zoey on the other hand, is too passive to be a protagonist. People say she takes up too much screentime, but I’d argue she takes too little. Her thing with Mal isn’t even her conflict, it’s just Mike against himself once more. Outside of that, she has no major arcs, or conflicts or well, much of anything really outside of giving us that Duncan-Zoey crackship. Sure, she makes friends with Gwen but ultimately, it’s inconsequential to both girls’ arcs, as it doesn’t provide much of anything to either one. Zoey is basically the greatest challenge beast in the show, insanely winning four merge challenges in a row, including the finale, 4!! That’s insane and I personally believe other characters would have benefited more thematically from winning.
I don’t think she’s a Mary Sue, since she has characters who don’t like her and is too dumb to catch onto Mal somehow, but she is indeed a very passive presence. It’s hard to tell what her role here exactly is. Is she the female main character? No. Is she meant to help Mike overcome Mal? No, he overcomes him in his head. Does she help in pushing anyone’s arcs forward? Not really. On top of being infuriatingly oblivious to some people, she serves no clear role in the story and to be honest, if she didn’t have a nice voice and design, she could have very easily been bottom of the barrel. All-Stars doesn’t derail her, it just puts her in purposeless and fails to justify her stance as a winner. That’s why she is a writing disaster in All-Stars, not just for the opinionated reasons you’ll see other folks give on why they dislike this iteration of her.

Sky:
Now onto my personal favorite to analyze, and probably my favorite of these four, Sky. Sky also gets a lot of hate, also due to her main relationship, which now I realize is a trait shared by all four of these girls. Regardless, Sky is the gen 3 iteration of the nice athletic girl. Her athleticism is given an actual background this time, where Zoey and Bridgette hadn’t had one, and Sky is naturally athletic due to her sister being a gymnast and her own dreams of being an Olympian one day which is nice enough. Out of four in selection, Sky seems to be the most competitive, sometimes even resorting to questionable decisions to try and obtain the grand prize. Let’s look into how she’s portrayed in Pahkitew.
Off the curb, she’s probably an early favorite for the win. She’s strong, athletic, rational, has good leadership perks and is smart too. She galvanises her unfocused team on occasion and I kind of wish they went with something of Sky vs Jasmine in leadership abilities since that had the potential to be interesting. However, Sky being overpowered required a distraction to get her eyes off the prize, and this is where our Hal of Total Drama steps in, Dave. (Megamind reference!) Ah, I have a lot to say about the genius behind the writing of Dave that is heavily underappreciated by the TD fandom, but we’re focusing on Sky right now. Sky and Dave, or Skave, is the perfect representation of how lack of communication can wreck a relationship. As good as Sky is at twirling in gymnastics and dominating physical challenges, kind of, she has a lot of other weaknesses that offsets these in the non-physical department, and the Skave relationship is the perfect way to display them while also giving her something to do. It always baffled me when people call Sky a Mary Sue, because she really isn’t, but then again, people tend to throw that term around way too cheaply. At first, it’s sunshine and rainbows for the new couple, Sky’s in love with Dave, but couldn’t get it through to him that she wanted to put that relationship on the back burner for the sake of the victory, and that was mainly down to a lack of trying to do so besides that one scene. The fragility of the Skave relationship was revealed and exposed in plot resistances, such as the healthiest love triangle in Ella’s unrequited crush on Dave and Sugar being Sugar. And technically Dave cheating on Sky with a bat, but alas. Things get to a heed when Sky’s lack of an assertive personality comes to wreck her whole thing with Dave as Jasmine comes through and begins to pressure Sky into ending it for petty reasons. To be frank, I think it’s a bit mean from Jasmine considering that they could have went along with the challenge and did well without having to wreck a blooming (Not) relationship but then again, I have a myriad of issues with Jasmine’s character, kind of, that should be discussed later. Regardless, Sky gets pushed to her limit by Dave in episode 9 and the two ‘break up’ and Dave gives himself the boot, now finally out of her way as a distraction and enabling a free run at the prize. Unfortunately for her though, Total Drama is a social game as well, and with Max and Scarlett and Jasmine and Shawn still around, she was forced to work with Sugar to get things moving, something she obviously didn’t like. Despite this, she was the mastermind behind the plan to trick Scarlett and nabbed second place in episode 11 even with Sugar weighing her down. Thanks to Sugar taking out Jasmine and then herself, her finale position was secure against Shawn… Only for Dave to return.
Now, Sky in the finale, is both very interesting and poorly written at the same time. Manipulating Dave by kissing him to string him along her little simp chain was a low move, but it helped in establishing that Sky has an obvious dark side and isn’t necessarily the sweet girl her predecessors Zoey and Bridgette were. Her relationship was thrown to the rocks though at the mention of Keith, her boyfriend who we can assume was probably pretty crummy to her considering she seemed somewhat nervous around him. Her lack of assertion bites her in the butt again as she didn’t have time to dump him, so now technically she cheated on Keith with another guy and roped in a boy toy for usage and now it’s all one giant mess. Regardless, it could have been saved with the right closure, but ultimately, the writing preferred to focus on the more happy relationship and gave them a closure, leaving Dave to well, die by Scuba Bear… That’s crazy.
Still though, Sky is easily the most multi-faceted out of the four mentioned in this trope bracket. Her morality can’t be summed up in a phrase and her motivations and actions are mostly understandable. Her role is to serve as the de facto main character. While some may point to her passiveness, unlike Zoey, she is passive in the sense that she doesn’t take action in her respective story arcs instead of not participating at all. Her lack of action is what pushes a lot of these plots forward, so in a way, her lack of action was the action that pushed forward the relationship action in her season. I think Sky mainly suffers from only having one season, so fans who don’t get this in-depth message can easily be left salty from the lack of closure at the end and might confuse her for a bad character which is a shame. Woo, that was a long one…

Priya:
Now, I had already done a previous post on her explaining why I think she’s a bad character so it’s better if you give that a read because I won’t give all those reasons again, but I’ll run over them anyway and add to them too. Priya is a very different character from both seasons. In terms of the way she acts, her season 2 self feels very reminiscent of a Courtney than she does a Zoey, which does call her presence in this bracket into question, but whatever. Let’s just see what she has to offer.
Like Sky, Priya is also given a backstory as to why she’s so athletic. She had trained all her life for Total Drama and thus has a lot of athleticism. I’m not sure why her parents paid no focus to social game since that is a very major aspect of the competition, but whatever. Her main arc was having a friend in Millie, but Priya for the most part was well, a side character in Millie’s story. If we want to think about it, what exactly justifies her season 1 win? It’s a similar situation to Zoey where her role in the story doesn’t necessarily justify her winning. Is she the main character? No, that honor belongs to Millie, whom I have already explained why she qualifies as that in a previous post. Does she help Millie grow as a person? Well, she has a vague influence, but honestly, I’d argue that Millie doesn’t really take any real introspection in herself until Bowie drops the notebook. Sure, she says she’ll change and wrestles a croc, but that’s a different arc of Millie actually trying in the challenges instead of always being passive, not really her main arc, of not judging others because she’s no better than them. Does she push anyone’s arcs forward? You can make a case for Millie, but I’d argue once more that Bowie does more to that than Priya herself and maybe Julia but I suppose Priya can take some credit. All of this culminates to when we reach the finale and we have things tense, Bowie is sneaky, Millie is an underdog and the third is.. Oh, Priya? Dang, I forgot she was here. Julia, Millie and Bowie hogged so much spotlight, they kind of left Priya to dry and yet they still make her win and do a Beth.
In season 2, this is where things take a turn. Priya becomes less focused on winning the whole competition and becomes engulfed in her romance with Caleb… Oh boy… I’m personally not the biggest fan of this plotline, since I feel as if it’s kind of like the ‘arc’ she and Millie had last season, but this time as a romance instead of friendship. Obviously there are differences, but it’s nothing too major. The first 7 episodes, Priya faces little difficulty really and soars by. Sure, she was in bottom 2 in episode 4, but they were never eliminating her over Emma that round. It’s episode 8 when things take a turn and Caleb is exposed for ‘playing on her feelings’. At first, she’s sad, quiet and you can feel sympathetic for her… And then she just turns psycho. Oh boy, episode 9 is a piece of work. She just can’t stop crying and rages a lot and it feels as if her character took a complete 180 of the season. Now, I’m aware they showed some glimpses of angry Priya in the finale of season 1, but this does feel like they came a little too strong with it. We’d then get the worst handled plotline of the reboot seasons, as the relationship began flipping about from being ok to not ok to ok to not ok and so on. And considering how much of a disaster Julia was this season, the fact that they threw her into the mix and made every little thing they did bend to her will only added to the crapstorm that they piled up. For example, in episode 10, both Caleb and Priya take Julia’s relationship advice without much question. You might make a case for their naivete in relationships, but come on now, Priya had been tormented by Julia all of last season and knows how mean she is, where she was scheming on her even while she was crying and Caleb himself refused to join the MK-Julia alliance in the episode prior because he saw last season and knew how untrustworthy they were yet here he is, taking advice from her as if nothing was ever said. The flip floppiting continued until episode 12 and she is eliminated in the most predictable elimination ceremony in all of Total Drama. Oh boy, where to even start with this one.
Now, Priya in season 2 is actually meant to be taken as the main female character. Most of the drama occurs around her and her relationship with Caleb is a mainstay focus throughout the whole season, literally. She beefs with Julia, the main antagonist too which is another touch. However, the main issue comes with what do the writers exactly want to do with her? A main character is meant to be someone you should root for, yet for the 8-13 debacle of episodes, it never really felt as if Priya was to be rooted for. Priya and Caleb lack the sweetness of Bridgette and Geoff or Mike and Zoey and the subtle clever messaging of Dave and Sky. It was a relationship that had no real purpose. It didn’t further any character. All it did was turn Priya into a crazy Courtney and Caleb into a whiny muscular Dave. It never felt like either character grew or benefited from the other. It was only a source of drama, meant to feed Julia and make her better than she actually was and was more or less a pointless decision. This makes Priya a… Well, kind of a writing disaster of a character. Regardless of what you think of her, her character never gets furthered all that much, and I don’t believe she’s worthy to take the title of female main character in season 2. There really wasn’t one, since Julia is meant to be an antagonist and MK her lackey and that’s why this season fell flat, lack of clarity for roles. But hey, I digress.

Ultimately, I believe I have come to the conclusion that Sky is easily the best written and complex of these characters, even if some may find her bland. Bridgette isn’t much relevant, Zoey is too passive and Priya too aimless and these hold them back. Are they Mary Sues? No, none of them are, but they happen to have writing flaws engineered around them to cover them in this trope. So yeah, I'm heading off to put a sandwich on my ham.
