1: When did the damage model on your GPS(whatever it's called in game) change to a front view? It's atrocious. I utterly hate it. Stop it. Can I fix it somehow? Side view was superior in every way.....just don't anymore for the love of god....Whoever not only thought of this(AND the dipshit who approved this idea), but also thought it was a GOOD idea....you my friends are demoted. You clean bathrooms for 6 months from now on. No back talk....GO! I still love you, but GO! GO NOW!

2: I'm an American. I know I know....I suck. I promise I'm a decent one who aspires to be a decent human being daily. I would give you the shirt off my back if needed. Except that fucking damage model on GPS guy. Back to the JOHN! SIDE VIEW SUPERIOR!

In seriousness, I bought ETS first, barely played it(no fault of that game just a ton on plate at time), bought ATS and made the ruling to focus on it first. I'm from there, seemed obvious. I've started ETS again in full and one of the most glaring details was stop lights. In Merica you stop a bit behind the light line(ideally) and the line is typically slightly before the light. It seems in ETS the line is equal to the light. So when you pull near line or to, you lose visibility of the light(typically blocked by side mirror). Some locations have a third light(England I believe?) across the intersection which eliminates any issue, but several areas don't.
Just curious this is real? I know the game has been so far amazingly detailed in so many ways I naturally assume this is fact. How do you deal with it over there? Is it even an issue or am I just being dumb? I'm cool with either answer just honestly inquiring.

3: Lane Assist. I haven't kept up as I quit playing for a couple of months as I'd done all DLC maps in USA, and wasn't ready to fully commit to ETS just yet. I don't honestly know if it just came out or has been there for awhile as an option. I'm all for realism and most newer vehicles seem like they have some version now. Of course I turned it fully on. Next thing I know my truck is weaving left to right so extremely that it eventually will put your arse in a ditch if not out right jack knife you. I assumed like most things new....I had no idea what I was doing. Experimented as much as I could yet the outcome was the same. A giant worm that wrecked itself eventually simply from over steering left on the initial correction then right to compensate then left....etc...Rinse repeat till wreck.

Am I doing it wrong? I mean I literally do nothing but turn on and watch. I noticed manual inputs help but it becomes more involved input than if I just steer the truck myself. I thought perhaps new feature with refinement live? I dunno..

4: I had more but that bit of joke for the damage guy made me lose train of thought more than I meant honestly. It's 2am where I am and I can't sleep. I love your game devs(assuming you see this), it's worth my money. Thank you. They always say "the best community" and I agree, thanks for that players as well.

I am recently 501c3 approved for an environmental conservation charitable non-profit. Our goal is to LiDar map our neighboring tidal estuaries using VTOL drones and other tech, along with ocean shorelines for erosion tracking and ship navigation. I am the sole founder and director with two other governors. Many different governmental agencies and aquaculturists will benefit from this data. My only question is if I secure funding for a drone, and I am the only person qualified to perform the mapping and data acquisition (with limited funding), is it legal for me to pay myself for services rendered or is that a conflict of interest as the director? I don't want my salary to be egregious, but I know that I will put my heart and soul into the work because I grew up here and care about the ecology of my community. Thanks all!

Apologies if I am breaking any subreddit rules here. I'm trying to identify if SN could be a good fit for us. I'd also be open to anyone who wishes to DM about this topic or give me a demo of their SN setup. I know this subreddit will be biased but I wanted to hear from those who actually work with the product before I talk to any sales reps.
I am one of about a dozen developers on a team that's specialized in the Hyland OnBase WorkView case/document management platform. We've been using it for over a decade and have built a lot of successful client projects with it, but the drawbacks have reached a point where we are looking for a replacement. Ideally the new platform is something that our team of developers can learn and become proficient with relatively quickly. We'd also be open to hiring some people with SN experience, and/or bringing in a professional services group to get us on track.
A typical client project for our team is to build a case management system that a state government office of 25-50 case workers would use to enroll applicants in a program to receive some type of assistance. Case workers would perform a series of checklist and document reviews on the applicants' cases and move their case through a variety of steps from intake to closeout. Third party users may also log in to this system and perform their own reviews of cases. Users might be grouped into teams and can only see cases assigned to their team.
Not all our projects follow this model, it's just become a common one for us. I've only spent a couple hours reading about SN, skimming through some of the videos on their website, so I still need to do more research, but I wanted to lay out some info about our current platform below. I would love to hear feedback from the SN crowd here about how it compares relative to the pros/cons listed below, and anything in particular you love/hate about it, things you wish you knew about it before you started, etc.
The good:

• Easy to build a data model -- intuitive for developers to define classes, fields, relationships between classes, and even extension classes where appropriate.
• Easy to use the screen designer to throw together an interface for users to enter data into your fields (more on this in the "cons" section).
• Easy to create working filters/queues so staff that use the system can track what's pending their review.
• Easy to set up user groups and control who can see what.
• Document management is built-in, easy to import documents and automatically tag them with keywords based on the record/screen they're being uploaded to. Also easy to query for all documents of a certain type, with certain keyword values, uploaded in a custom date range, etc.
• Transaction history on every record makes it easy to audit who changed what and when.
• Document templates -- the ability to generate a Word/PDF document with dynamic text on demand is very useful for clients that need their staff to print and mail letters.
• Ability to write C# code to do anything we want, even if we could do it with a native component. Our client's business logic often becomes so complex (and changes so often) that it's easier to manage with code libraries that fire when buttons are pressed, rather than with the built-in "no code" workflow design steps.
• Ability to build external applications that interface with/manipulate OnBase data using the OnBase DLL. We have some C# console applications that run on Windows Task Scheduler every night, for example "connect to this FTP instance and import whatever files have been imported in the last 24 hours, turn them all into data objects in OnBase, and send us a summary email".

The bad:

• The look and feel of the client is clunky and outdated, looks like it's from the 90s. It's a Windows application. There is a web client but it lacks some key functionality and also has the same outdated look. The screen designer itself is just a bare bones HTML page you can add rows and columns to and drag/drop your fields on it. We've added some CSS to improve it somewhat and I'm sure if we brought in some designers they could push that further, but we shouldn't have to work so hard to make the default product not look bad. And don't bother trying to use it on your phone or tablet.
• Migrating changes from DEV/QA/PROD is a nightmare. Our WorkView instance has apparently reached the level of complexity at which the tool for exporting your data to be imported into another instance simply crashes and doesn't work anymore. Even when it does work on a fresh instance, it's a confusing experience of mapping all the fields and objects between the two environments and making decisions about whether to keep or overwrite each one. It's reached the point where we have no choice but to build in PROD, and test changes with internal users before we modify permissions so that they are visible to all users. Our TEST and DEV instances are therefore always outdated and not useful as a result. You can imagine how painful this has become.
• Performance is slow. We've never gotten a clear answer from our support calls about why it can take 15+ seconds for a record to load. I suspect this product was simply never intended to be pushed to the limits that we seem to have reached after so many years. From what I can tell, most Hyland customers use OnBase for document management/workflow, and if they have any WorkView/case management projects they use a small number of classes, with a small number of fields. We are 100% WorkView. I would guess our instance has 500 classes (tables), 1000 designed screens, 5000 filters/queues, and 2000 buttons that launch C# scripts. It takes 3 minutes for the OnBase studio/designer IDE to finish logging in/loading our instance before we can begin making any changes to it.
• Licensing is expensive and confusing. You can buy concurrent licenses that are shared between all users (expensive) or named licenses (less expensive) that are assigned on a per-user basis. We host a lot of different client projects on our instance, and it's not a good look when we reach the license limit and users start complaining that they can't log in. Our users have no idea what licenses are and shouldn't have to see error messages they don't understand. Of course this is a problem we can solve with more money but I am curious to learn how SN handles this.
• The built in reporting module leaves a lot to be desired. Very limited customization/styling, and no ability to set up a report to be emailed on a schedule. We instead rely on other modules like PowerBI and Tableau.
• I mentioned in the "good" section that we can build external applications in Visual Studio to create/modify OnBase data, but this is really a response to the poor IDE built into OnBase Studio which lacks so many features, it's easier to just import the OnBase DLL into a Visual Studio solution and build it there, so you have access to breakpoint debugging, logging, Nuget packages, etc. If I'm writing code in the platform IDE, it shouldn't be a miserable experience.
• Very limited developer resources. You won't find any resources on Stackoverflow, Reddit, or anywhere public. If you run into a problem, you can check the Hyland Community forums (good luck, the search functionality is broken) or send an email to support. Likely a result of the OnBase product just not being very well known/popular. Makes me a bit jealous of the more well known platforms like Salesforce and... maybe ServiceNow?? It was refreshing to find an active subreddit, at the very least!

Hi!
I'm looking for someone that can spare some time for free to help me improve my Ashe (and perhaps cass and sombra) gameplay. I have been as high as diamond in one previous season in OW1. I am currently Plat 5 support mainly using Ana and Illari (a bit of Bap and moira here and there). As DPS, I was hardstuck Silver 2 for a month, and finally was able to climb a bit to Gold 4, feel like I'm already getting hardstuck here again.
I feel that whenever I get put into a "pressure" game (aka loser queue), I can't get a win. Can't help but feel like a victim of the infamous forced 50/50. Whenever I win 2 or 3 in a row, it feels like you are punished with a bad team because the game wants you to be the carry. I thought this was an urban legend, but Blizz pretty much confirmed it with the May 14 patch.
I HAVE done my homework (I'd enjoy a conversation about my knowledge of the game so you can assess my level of understanding), but feel there's something that needs expert advice. Here's what I've improved on :

• Aim and mechanical skill in general. Being able to consistently hit diving tracers, genjis, sombras, echos, pharas, mercy's and lucios. Being confident in my aim and standing my ground to get the killing shot instead of running (on low targets or targets that i know will die before reaching me).
  
• Taking angles, abusing high ground and smart flanks while complimenting my other dps creating situations where the opposing team has to decide which flank to counter
  
• Creating space with my bob or using it to create an extra flank
  
• Positioning in general and knowing how to get ready for the next fight.
  
• Knowing then a fight is lost and falling back instead of feeding. Invertly, also knowing when to commit to win the fight. This has greatly made me die WAY less.
  
• Target selection (not focusing on a single target unless they are low, not going for tanks unless they are low or if the team needs me to mitigate/suppress a push attempt)
  
• Tracking enemy CD's and ults in general
  
• Trading CD's with the enemy using my dynamite (provoking nades , suzus and sometimes ults)
  

Here's what I feel I need to work on:

• Countering the enemy team when they identify I am the carry and they try to kill me first
  
• Dueling hanzo and widow
  
• Dealing with a full dive comp (is there any way to stay hitscan or do I have to play CounterWatch?)
  
• Dealing with certain maps that are not necessarily convenient for Ashe, especially the newer maps they've added.
  
• Being able to claim a flank space when the enemy team is highly aware of me
  
• Getting a consistent performance / gameplay (playing at the same level performance level in every game)
  

There's even been games where i get 40 - 50 kills, 15k damage, 5 - 6 deaths and still lose. In these cases, my logic tells me the fault is somewhere else, but im sure its me.
I know that there's the concept of VOD reviews, but I feel that I can get the most out of a live session where someone spectates my gameplay and gives me feedback on the fly. Let me know if you can spare some time to view my gameplay and give me some pointers. I would greatly appreciate it!

Morgue
And it was the first time I played Chei! I’d gotten 2 runes before as a MiFi of Qaz, a GrEe of Vehumet and a MiFi of Oka, but getting that third rune was tough.
As a monk, I think I did Chei on “easy mode,” because I never had to get through that “I’m so slow and my god won’t help me what was I thinking” phase. There were some very close calls in Depths and Zot, getting down to single digit hit points a couple of times, but Out of Time saved me, as did judicious use of blink and teleport. Most of the time, I used my consumables before the fight ever got started or soon after. That was a tough lesson for an ADOM player to learn.
The game was also kind with resistances. No scrolls of acquirement the whole game, but I was able to assemble all resistances by early in Vault, and I had all but rElec well before then.
Cleared crypt to level up a bit more before I descended into Slime, which wasn’t bad at all thanks to two pips of rNeg.
Zot 1 & 2 kicked my ass. I was using consumables like crazy because the draconids were swarming me before I could get to better ground, and even then, the fights were tough because I could never rest properly. But after I killed Tiamat and got the dragonskin cloak, I could ditch the rElec plate and wear the shadow dragon armor I found a couple rooms over, instead. I don’t think I’d have won without it, because the stealth it gave me prevented the massive swarming.
I meleed all the OoFs and got pretty badly malamuted, but by the time my potions of mutation ran out, all that was left was the orb run. Had to think my way out of a bad spot with a hell sentinel on the way up, but otherwise the run was smooth. Not a pan lord in sight.
I’ve won Nethack with every class and won ADOM eight times with two ultras. But, man, DCSS is the most exciting roguelike I’ve played. Pure adrenaline, and I really really love the quality of life features. In ADOM, you can spend a ton of time scumming for the one particular item you need to progress (blink dog corpse? Giant boar skull? Wand of cold?) and if you drop something important on accident, all you can do is manually search the ENTIRE GODDAMNED DUNGEON).
I think control-F is my favorite feature in the entire game.
So much fun. And such a great community. You all helped me quite a bit with the DCSS learning curve. Thanks! Feels good to have won.

I quit playing Official servers years ago because the cheater problem was really bad. I would die almost every run to a cheater and usually once I acquired decent gear. Usually these deaths were from an aimbot cheater where they magically headshot you when you're well-hidden in a closed room in the middle of nowhere.
So I moved to community servers that are close to Vanilla, but still the populated ones have mods of some sort. Since quitting Official servers I have seen many report that the cheating problem "isn't that bad" and people claiming to have not died to cheaters in a very long time. While I knew they were wrong I decided to put it to the test because hey, maybe something has really changed over the years.
So I join a high pop Official 1st person server and start gearing up. Won a legit pistol fight in Staroye a couple hours in which was super fun and reminded me why I love the vanilla DayZ experience. Well guess what? It took a whopping 4 HOURS before I got headshot by a blatant aimbot cheater when I was well-hidden in a closed room in a secluded area and away from windows. The same kind of cheaters that made me migrate to community servers in the first place.
By the way, this NEVER happens to me on the high pop community servers. I do get sniped sometimes but there is always a reasonable explanation for how it was legit (for example, I was on a roof using a flashlight at night). I can be up North with precious gear for weeks and not get shot. These weird aimbot headshot deaths ONLY happen to me on Official servers and typically right after I get further North and get any decent military gear, when I'm completely hidden indoors.
So the people who claim that the cheater situation on Official isn't bad are either:

1. Dishonest. They might be cheaters themselves.
2. Naive. They are newer players that can't tell the difference between a legit death and a blatant cheater, or even if they're experienced, they're just clueless as to what's going on.

I have over 1500 hrs and have played DayZ since Alpha when there were cheaters swimming underground on Official. Unfortunately, the situation is still terrible and cheaters are rampant unless you go to some low pop server in a less popular location. I've been trying to figure out how to make this idea that I've had work and I'm looking for input from the community.
The core concept is a homebrew script in which the good team are incentivised to bluff as evil in order to survive, while creating a conspiracy to get the Demon to kill their own minions. The Demon has a very public presence and gets to enjoy being the centre of attention, while not knowing who they can trust.
Demon: The Tyrant – Only you can nominate. Everyone knows who you are. You don’t know your Minions. You die if and only all your Minions are dead.
The way I could see this working is with Townsfolk abilities that can emulate Minion abilities if done correctly, so that players can make promises to the Tyrant and attempt to carry them out to prove themselves: Minion: Executioner – Each night, choose a player the Tyrant nominated: they die. Townsfolk: Conspirator - Each night, choose a player: if you and the other Conspirator choose the same player, that player dies. [+1 Conspirator]
You could also have abilities that interfere with Minion abilities to place the Tyrant's distrust on them.
Two other character ideas that fit into my concept: Townsfolk: Rebel Leader - Once per game, at night, choose a player: if they are good, they wake, and repeat this ability. If all good players are chosen, your team wins. If an evil player is chosen, you die. Townsfolk: The Prince - If only 3 players live and you are alive, you can nominate, even if you could not. The Tyrant can die by execution.

I've been searching for recommendations on the best books and other resources on this and similar subreddits, checked the pinned megathread, but I’m still not sure what to pick.
Honestly, I'm not sure what my goal is. I've always struggled with math, and it's been a source of frustration my whole life. My parents hired a tutor when I was in middle and high school, but I still didn't do well, even after years of personal tutor once a week, my math grades were bad, huge contrast to the other school subjects.
In college, I was even EXPELLED due to a failed statistics class exam (three attempts in a row), I tried to get my bachelor’s in ‘crisis management’ and we had a math and statistic classes which killed me. I eventually got back and managed to get my poor degree, it’s been 10 years since then, but math won’t stop haunting me.
I still find it hard to calculate easy stuff in my head, like percentages or subtraction/addition, I need to use a pen and paper to visualize these calculations…
I have always been struggling with logic as well. Every time I try to learn something or get new skills, or simply watch a video on cosmos and other stuff I like that actually seems straightforward for many people, I fail to understand and have to ask my friends to explain it to me, which annoys them because to them it’s like fighting against a wall, I’m so bulletproof.
Of course I have ADHD like a typical person these days, it definitely contributes to my struggles, but I often think I’m just stupid. I've had to quit jobs due to my inability to understand math concepts, such as those in economics/business. Even Excel tables and formulas are my biggest enemies at any job.
When I play video games and check the content online, I'm shocked by the complex math involved in calculating damage multipliers and other game mechanics, content creators and the community always make these huge spreadsheets calculating everything possible and explaining it to a wider audience, but I never understand.
I try to take logic/erudition tests sometimes, but I fail miserably. I feel so vulnerable and pathetic. I don’t understand why it takes so long for me to ‘get it’, even when everyone does on a daily basis.
I want to try to change this. Even though there’s no college in my life anymore, no exams, I can’t ignore the math involvement in our daily life. What would you recommend for me to read/watch/listen to in my free time? Math has many categories, and I'm unsure where to start. It has a lot of categories, every book is, for instance, dedicated to applied math or discrete math, etc. Also, what level? For preschoolers? Lol.
Khan Academy only offers ‘trigonometry’ and ‘middle school statistics’ units, that’s it. At least in my language. It’s gonna be a bad idea to try learning math in a foreign language (Eng), I think, because I don’t know a single math term in English. I don’t want to complicate everything even futher.
As for books, YouTube channels and websites, everyone recommends a different one, so I'm unsure how to choose, there are too many. What section should I even choose? Algebra? Calculus? Statistics? Or even middle-school stuff? Btw, your calculus has a different structure from ours, like Calculus I, Calculus II, III. We had a different structure at school in my country, so I’m even more confused.
Some people suggest "Basic Mathematics" by Serge Lang, but others say it's not exactly ‘basic’ per se and might be a bit harsh for some idiots like me. Should I start with something more ‘pop’ like "The Joy of X"? Or to hell with it, just start math on Khan Academy in English, learning all the new vocabulary?

I've been working in the world of mental health and self-development for over a decade now and have had my journey of recovering from massive social anxiety and isolation. I've never really been active online and talked about these ideas with friends, coworkers, and partners. However, I feel inspired to stimulate some discussions I find are important and try to contribute to this and other similar communities. So I would like to share with you some reflections I wrote. I'd love to hear your thoughts and reflections. I'm not here to convince you of my ideas (although perhaps I can write persuasively sometimes), I am no authority, but I would love to hear your reflections, thoughts and discuss. I feel hopeful to try to find some truth together through this, and maybe think together as a community how we can make certain situations better for people. Of and please be very honest! I'm not looking for feedback for my form, or to get better at writing although I'm sure I could definitely use some. But I would love to see what these ideas evoke and people, their stories, their concerns, their disagreements, and points of view.

What Does It Mean to Be a Strong Man?
I acknowledge that the question may be irrelevant. That we may not need a definition. These definitions do not apply to everyone who uses the same term. However, people, perhaps more commonly those who identify as men, do often choose a definition. It is often nebulous, implicit, acted out, and unexamined. An amalgamation of ideas we are fed by others, cultural norms, emotional reactions, stereotypes, and beliefs we buy into. These ideas come from many sources that we do not have the opportunity to question. Being told to not cry and be a man while growing up, the attempts of other men to portray themselves as strong whether fruitful or vain, narratives around celebrity, status, fame. These often influence us, and eventually have some influence on the stereotypes that form around the idea of being a man. Perhaps it would be helpful to examine these ideas. I find them quite problematic. Not because I want to erase the concept of manhood, but because I think they often do a disservice to what a man can be and embody. We are often led to believe that unless we act in a certain way, we are not men. That we are weak, that we are not valuable, that we will not be respected and loved. And that the way to avoid this is to conform, to become rigid and put up our walls and defenses. This can often lead to tragically unnecessary outcomes. Alienation, isolation, stress, inner critique, avoidance, low self-esteem, and perhaps even push people away and lash out at them. We are told we need to hustle and grind to live up to being a man, that unless we reach certain goals we are diminished and failures. And we are often certain not the ones to choose our goals, but they are imparted on us.
So are the stereotypes true? What is it to be a man? Is it to be wealthy, physically strong, intimidating, shouting, or aggressive? Are these traits that we often see espoused by what we've come to associate with masculinity? Is it to achieve nebulous "success" as defined by others, and at any cost? Is masculinity dependent on the admiration of others, and upon the validation of our romantic interests? Is this what is central to being a man? Are we falling for a false narrative? Or are these phenomena just a symptom of our confusion, and the result of not having a clear vision of what being a man can entail?
My experience tells me that by adopting these notions, we underestimate and undervalue what a man can be, giving way to and rationalizing insecurities. We assume, through this model, that we cannot deal with certain experiences with grace and severely limit our growth. Are we not suffocating our freedom by buying into these narratives? Perhaps it is our lack of role models that deprives us of formative experiences during childhood, of seeing men be a pillars of love and calm for others. Seeing them be truly loved and respected, without the need for any gimmicks, silver tongue, status games or other forms of compensation we are continuous told me need by companies and influencers.
No, I believe the reality of being a man is much more profound than that. That we are leaving so much on the table by not having this compass. That it can seem daunting, but infinitely rewarding. I also don't view it as a stressful obligation that needs to be met otherwise we are unworthy. Rather, an invitation. I believe our natural inclination and the identity in which we flourish most are far from these stereotypes. It seems to me that it is blocked and occluded by many factors. And the path to actualizing it is of acceptance. It is time to seek out an identity that defies all those gurus who try to make us feel insecure, to try to be like them, to buy their products, to keep trying to replicate techniques that only reinforce self-doubt and the idea that we cannot embody who we want to be, live the life we want without chasing shiny status symbols.
No, to be a man is much more than that.
The idea of a man is to be able to fully feel one's emotions, one's fears, without panicking, without changing one's behavior, and doing the loving right thing. People think that feeling weakens you, controls you. But a man still has the agency to choose how he responds to them without cowering and escaping them, and therefore blinding himself. A man can feel his sorrow and still show up to work. A man can feel insecure but not run away and go for what he wants. A man can feel small and not hide from others, but share his vulnerability and still choose to step up. A man can let himself feel desperate and needy but choose to respect his integrity and not try to control the situation to suppress how he feels. The beautiful thing is, you don't have to be there. We are often told that unless we hit the mark, we are shunned and not respected. I have found that to not be true, and my imperfect attempts to be open, to hold space, to feel, have brought people closer to me and gave them the opportunity to help me grown and support me when I am vulnerable. It created the space for people to accept me the way I am once I took the step to be vulnerable and reveal myself. And that has helped shed so many insecurities.
Being a man is to have the courage to love, whether vulnerable or with tough love, and boundaries. It is to choose freedom and feeling through pain rather than contracting and escaping. It is to be able to give space, to serve others, to love them, to support them. To show one's weakness without trying to escape it, while working on improving. It is to be resilient, resourceful, and proactive in doing what seems to be right without the need for control. It is loving oneself and not chasing validation from others. It is to love without expecting in return, which is very different from being used. It is to tell the truth even when it is difficult. It is to, with inner calm and gentleness, confront someone with the appropriate intensity when they hurt others, or themselves. It is to be your brother's keeper. It is to forgive. It is to protect those you love. It is to weather the storm of love with as much calm as possible. It is to let go of the need to prove oneself. It is to be an anchor. It is to take life with humor. It is to love others as fully-fledged human beings and not as a means to an end.
It is to realize that sexual gratification does not make a man, and yet to fearlessly and compassionately give yourself to your partner. To realize that wealth and status cannot weld inner rifts. It is to comfort one's inner child when its demons terrify it. It is to be a light onto this world and give space to the darkness. It is to accept responsibility and uphold it. It is to be free from the fear of losing freedom. These are all not exclusive to men, but qualities latent within us all.
However, if we decide to be men, let us be this sort of forgotten, powerful man. A man that does not need to belittle, a man that does not need to abuse, a man that recognizes his own beauty and strength and has faith in it when he feels small. That allows love to come in. A man that does not need to retaliate when others disturb him. That recognizes that nothing can reduce the being within, its potential, and the beauty of the world it projects into its consciousness through his eyes.
Men, believe in yourself. You can be who you want to be. You can create the life you want. You can attract the one you love. But society is letting you down. Instead of giving you tools that work, it shoves you on an eternal treadmill. A treadmill that only profits those who would see you be an obedient soldier, a consumer, a higher bracket taxpayer, or whatever pursuits or status our society brainwashes us to pursue.
You can do all these things, but let it be your choice. Make these things more attainable by growing, by reducing the inner conflict, by using the full power of your emotional awareness and regulation that is only unlocked by feeling. By understanding yourself and others better. By seeing things more clearly, not by following others' techniques and instructions only but by honing your perception and intelligence. So much social conditioning and consumer culture divide us, make us understand each other less, and make us alienated from other genders and groups. Sometimes so they can sell us their narrative and their products. Let us be free.
Easier said than done you say?
We truly live in a world that makes it harder to develop these qualities. Or perhaps these qualities are there, but their potential is suppressed and supplanted by other patterns. We often start off with trauma and life events that interfere with our growth. We try to cope, and the world can be harsh to our coping mechanisms. We model the world as we see it through our hurt selves, and we often blame ourselves for being stuck. Luckily, there are ways to break out of the cycle. It's unfortunate that most of us don't have access to people who guide us through the process. And most importantly, we are constantly distracted by strategies that don't work. Buy this course, go to this gym, buy these clothes, make more money, stress and push yourself, or get lost in the system trying to get therapy. We keep being told we need to be better, and enhance ourselves from the outside in. But we are not taught how much we can affect our mental software, how we can reshape our psyche, heal from patterns, and regain our natural social and emotional skills and self-esteem.
This requires calm, patience, time, and deliberate focus, but our focus is snatched away by millions of distractions and a barrage of FOMO. We are made to feel stressed and insecure, that we need to succeed and maximize our potential, so that we consume more tips, coffee, addictions, or work ourselves to death to the benefit of employers, tax agencies, or the general economy. We are told we don't have time to reflect, that if we make the wrong choice we are screwed, so we need to hurry and follow whatever beaten path is thrown onto us. We perpetually seek guidance, sometimes from people that masquerade as experts on YouTube for views and forget to strengthen our own intuition and remove whatever puts us on a leash.
We are social animals; we process information about social situations unconsciously far more effectively than through our thinking minds. Anxiety can block this, so we assume we lack knowledge and need to learn. We resent the anxiety and fight it, and get stuck in a perpetual battle we cannot win because we are using the wrong method. Then we blame ourselves. Make ourselves smaller. And the cycle continues, with more desperate attempts to exit the cycle and find more tips and tricks.
There is a way out, but it feels so counterintuitive that we expect it the least. Meeting ourselves where we are at, exposing ourselves to our fears and weaknesses, growing from there, sharing it with others, feeling—it all makes us feel like we will get stuck. The child that learned these lessons throws a tantrum at the possibility. But we are not children anymore. We needed these strategies in the past, but now they hold us back. We do not need to hide; we are capable of growing and learning to meet our own needs. And that is the way forward.
Do you truly think this kind of man is weak? That he is unable to achieve what he sets out to do? That women will gloss over? I have never been so comfortable and connected to women as when I started letting go of all the things above and being there. Calm, present, joyful, grounded in my own being, and creating space for the both of us; changing the dynamic forever into one of exploration, of love, of excitement, of ease, and of insight for the other person that sees that this mode is possible.
