2024.06.01 16:00 regiumperfidem ABYG kasi “nagdadamot” ako?

I am an only child and I grew up alone because my parents are both abroad. I basically raised myself, but I still lived with my aunt and grandma until high school. Since my parents are away, they provide everything I need and spoil me with what I want. We are fairly comfortable and that sets me different from our relatives.
Kaso typical Filipino culture, kapag medyo nakakaangat ka, relatives can be insecure and they will try to put you down by making stories about you. Kawawa daw ako kasi mag-isa lang, mukhang nagrerebelde daw ako, etc. This was during my early adolescence na tingin nila sakin kawawang bata ako kasi I’m left with no one. Wala din daw kasi akong kapatid iniwan pa ako ng nanay ko. They kept judging me and my parents during my formative years kaya I’ve grown to set my distance. Hindi talaga ako malapit sa kanila except for a few family events na I’m forced to attend and tuwing summer lang where a cousin will stay over at my place to play video games kaso nalaman ko as we grew older na he was just trying to get close to me so he can get some of my dad’s money. Nanghihingi sila ng pamilya niya ng pang-birthday, pang-new year, pero dalawang parents niya healthy. Unfair lang kasi kung gusto nila umangat sana diba cinonsider din nila mag-abroad kasi mas kailangan nila at tatlo silang magkakapatid.
To be fair I am in med school and patapos na ako. I may have lapses in the past like taking a gap year kasi I do have mental issues that I overcome with the help of my loving girlfriend and friends, but no one from my family. Wala talaga silang pakialam sakin pero todo congrats kapag pinopost ng mom ko achievements ko.
Now, this brother of my cousin, who used to stay over at my place, is asking for my gaming laptop. Halos lahat ng gadgets na meron ako in the past gagamitin ko lang for 1-2 years then upgrade na to pass down to them. Yung parents niya may trabaho, pati kapatid meron. Sobrang judgy nila samin tapos kapag may kailangan hihingi? Kaya nung tumagal dine-decline ko na offer ng dad ko na mag-upgrade and I stick with what I have until it gets old and itong laptop na to since 2018 pa. Wala akong narinig ever na pangangamusta man lang when I was at the pit bottom of my med school tapos ngayon manghihingi na naman sila. Not to mention na this is one of many relatives na hingi nang hingi ng kung ano sa pamilya ko and my parents are just too nice to give in everytime. But not me.
I expressed this to my dad and he said baka nahihiya lang daw. Sabi ko, “Hindi yan mahihiya manghingi kung kilala naman nila ako talaga. Nahihiya yan kasi ngayong may kailangan lang makakaalala.” I just know for sure when I rejected his request pinag-usapan na nila akong pamilya at makakarating pa to our other relatives.
ABYG kasi hindi ko na pinagbigyan at hindi na ako magbibigay because I’m over their “kawawa” facade?

2024.06.01 15:59 SlightQT Opinion: How to avoid "Winners Guilt" in boardgaming.

Lets start with tip 8 of SU&SD's undeniably-very-good video on mastering "The Teach" for boardgames:
https://youtu.be/P5fjDaFuft8?t=601&si=ia3otRy_4SgvrZYR
"If you win a game you're teaching, you've already lost".
Realistically, you should be more focused on helping everyone else than spending the time to calculate out your turns and make optimal plays. A good way to accomplish this is to make sure other players are fully set with their turns before you spend ANY time considering yours. Then just rush through your turn really quickly, which will likely be suboptimal, since you havent had time to cranium-crunch your next moves. You can also just resolve to do "the most instructive thing" or "the most silly thing" each turn, intentionally choosing suboptimal lines for the purpose of... FUN. :)
If you want to really get som1 to love a boardgame. Let them win their first game (or at least be on equal footing with other new players without having to contend with experinced players beating them up).
I usually play much more seriously on my second game, and often push to play two rounds of games on my boardgame sesh's (time permitting).
But here's the kicker. This approach applies to a vast set of situations and is not just about teaching a game, or even PLAYING a game for that matter. The real question is this: "What do you want to get out of playing a boardgame?"
Theres going to be a bunch of answers to this, as the motivations are myriad and overlapping: - Playing a game - Having fun/relaxation - Winning a game - Playing well - Social w/ likeminded - Meet new people - Introduce your introverted SO - Need ppl to finish off extra beers u dont like - Need to justify owning this many boardgames ... you get the point.
Ill make the case that "winning the game" as a high-prio answer to the question CAN be very cringy (in the sense that youre forcing your own agenda onto others). For me, I have a few groups I play with, all across the spectrum of skill, interest, and competitiveness. I have one game group thats very "play to win" in which we are all cutthroat with each other and we LOVE it. This group has fundamentally different priorities for "What do I want to get out of playing this boardgame?" But note: everyone in that group has clearly indicated they want to "Play to Win".
But it would be SUPER awkward if I started playing the same way with some of my other gaming groups, who have a fundamentally different access point to boardgaming and competition in general. (I used to be top 0.5% Dota 2 player.)
For those groups, I always play a totally different game: "How can I explore the mechanics of this game in a way that puts me on more equal footing with those at the table?" This is like adding a personal meta-game on top of the current game, which adds a complex social and mechanical element to how I am playing. Its like putting a handicap on myself, but one that seeks to explicitly maximize the enjoyment of all players (including myself, because I am taking on a more difficult challenge).
This has worked wonders for me, and affords me the ability to play a huge variety of games with a huge variety of players.
NOTE: couldnt find the study, but there was a study done that showed that kids on the playground will maintain a relationship with another kid as long as they "win" 1/3 or more of the engagements. When I play with my SO, I never ever win a game more than 2/3s of the time, adjusting my personal meta game to meet this target, as it is the best LONG-TERM strategy. After 7 years of gaming with this mentality, my SO never felt like they were incapabale of winning, enjoyed gaming with me over a huge variety of games, and is now objectively quite good at a lot of games. Had I not employed this strategy, games would not be one of the cornerstones of our hangout time, as that avenue of our relationship would have become strained by our initial skill diff. (They basically didnt play games before meeting me, and I was a hardcore Moba gamer -- huge diff. HUGE.)
TL;DR: To avoid winners guilt, let ppl win their first game (or play on equal footing with all other new players at the table), and ajdust the game youre playing to match the group youre playing with. You have full control of how difficult every game is. All limitations are self-limitations. Try to only win a maximum of 2/3 of the time.

2024.06.01 15:59 a15minutestory [WP] Saying you dedicate your hunts to the Goddess Artemis started as a weird private joke to yourself. You never thought it would result in the actual goddess visiting you and asking to teach her how to hunt with a rifle. [Part 8]

The room was quiet.
No one said a word.
I looked around at their grim faces, and decided to break the silence. "Ares?" I asked. "As in... the god of war?"
"The very one," Apollo acknowledged. "We are doomed."
"Well, actually," Artemis said from the doorway. "He is... just sort of walking around."
Athena lifted her eyebrows, "What? Explain, Sister."
"I do not know how to further explain," said Artemis, adopting a pained expression. "He is not tearing this lodge to shreds as he would if..."
"... If he knew we were here," Athena finished her sentence. "Do you think he hasn't detected us?"
"Impossible," Hephaestus huffed.
"I agree with Hephaestus," Apollo said, leering at the windows on the north side of the room. "Ares can detect us almost anywhere on Olympus. Certainly he can feel us from the other side of this wall, no?"
"Out there?" I asked, gesturing toward the north wall.
Artemis nodded gravely. "Yes. He must be preparing something."
I started toward the window when Apollo jumped in front of me. "Excuse me, are you mad?"
"He wouldn't recognize me," I said, scooting past him. He lifted a hand as if to stop me, but simply looked to Athena for help.
She tilted her head and shrugged, "He has a point. We're all finished anyway. What could it hurt?"
I stood at the window and peered out at the people gathered around the fountain. There was a taller than average man in gleaming golden armor standing among them. His donned a crimson cape that blew in the breeze— he was a magnificent sight to behold. It was as though his very being was shimmering-shiny.
"He's... asking people questions," I narrated. "He's the guy in the golden armor right?"
"Yes," came Artemis's voice next to me. "If he is speaking, I may be able to hear him if I sharpen my focus. I am good at this. Everyone, please remain quiet." She knelt down, closed her eyes, and pressed her ear against the wall.
I watched him speak to people and occasionally point to the sky. Everyone around him seemed taken by his fancy appearance, but they were all shoulders; they had no idea what he was on about.
"None of you?" asked Artemis. "None of you saw a group of people come from the sky?" She spoke slowly as she listened. "I sensed them here in this town when I arrived. Now they have disappeared. Have you done something?"
"I don't believe it," Hephaestus spoke, a spark of hope in his heart. "He cannot sense us. But how?"
"Perhaps this lodge is magical," Apollo said, a small smile appearing on his face. "What luck! What unbelievable luck!"
I couldn't help but smile at our good fortune as I watched them breathe sighs of relief. My gaze stopped on Athena however, as she was staring at me with narrowed eyes as though deep in thought.
"It is... possible that I was mistaken," Artemis spoke. "But I could have sword upon my steel that I sensed all of them this way." She looked up at me and smiled. "Buck, he is leaving!"
I watched through the window as the god turned and heaved a frustrated sigh. He looked up at the sky before leaping up and out of view. The people by the fountain gasped so hard I could hear it through the walls of the lodge.
"He's gone!" I exclaimed. "He took off!" I turned to find Athena right next to me and my back hit the wall. Her eyes were inches from mine. "Oh- uhh- hey, Athena," I said nervously, sidling away from her. "You, uhh... You good?"
"What is it?" asked Artemis as she stood up. "What do you sense in Buck?"
The others gathered near the window caging me in as Athena stared into my soul. I swallowed and glanced around. "What?"
"Nothing," Athena smiled.
"Nothing?"
"I sense... nothing." she clarified.
"Now that you mention it," Apollo leaned in. "I too sense no aura from the new god."
"Hm," Hephaestus scratched his temple. "You know... I cannot sense him either. Not even a little of him."
"Can't sense me?" I asked. "I don't know, you're all looking awfully hard at me."
"You have no aura," Athena clarified. "Every god and goddess has an aura without exception," she explained.
"To put it to you in terms you will better understand," said Apollo. "Think of when you go to visit someone you know at their house. Their house has a distinct smell, no?"
"Yeah," I nodded cautiously. "Yeah, I know what you mean. Not always like a bad smell, but a scent."
"Now imagine," Artemis chimed in. "That you can smell that person's home-smell when they are close."
"Within a mile," Athena added. "We can sense others of our kind in such a way. Some can sense it stronger than others."
"... And you're saying I don't have one?" I asked. "Like at all?"
"Perhaps because he was first human," Hephaestus offered.
"No," Apollo smiled, looking at Athena.
"We're on the same page, Apollo," Athena smiled back.
"Hm?" Artemis placed her hands on her hips. "If you have figured something out, please share it."
"I believe," said Athena, pointing playfully at me. "That our friend here is camoflauge, so to speak."
"A god of isolation," Apollo said in wonderment. "If he does not wish to be found..."
"My word," Hephaestus smiled. "If that is truly a power of yours... I am jealous."
"You think I'm hiding your auras?" I asked, a half-smile on my face. "Seriously?"
"Seriously," Athena answered with a relieved sigh. "I believe merely being close to you erases our presence from those that seek us."
I looked down at my own hands and tightened them into fists. It was amazing. I was emitting godlike powers without even trying. It was just a part of who I was now. What luck that I was lonely enough in life to assert a domain that could hide me in plain sight from those that would wish me harm. I was so happy to be useful I couldn't even form it into words.
"We should run further still," Artemis cut in. "I am a piece of Father, and if I know him, he will still not give up the search. Unable to sense our auras, he will still search high and low with his eyes and ears. He will follow our trail."
"Agreed," Athena answered quickly. "We must not stay here."
"Well, where do we go?" I asked.
"To Asgard," Hephaestus answered firmly.
"I believe it was you who said Odin would not take us in, yes?" asked Apollo.
"We are not going for shelter," Hephaestus smiled a devilish grin. "We are going... for materials."
Asgard wasn't what I expected. Truth was, I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't this. The sky was a splauched watercolor painting of blues and violets, and even black in some places as the winds blew across the roiling water beneath. The plane seemed to be on the brink of a major storm that never quite arrived. The air was salty and cold as we were rowed across the noisy waters toward the great hall on the hill. I could see it through the fog with a mighty hearth fire burning at the port.
"It's kind of dreary," I noted as the Norseman rowed us to shore.
"I adore this type of weather," Artemis grinned widely. "It is so exciting, would you not agree?"
"I must admit, I too enjoy the calm before a storm," Hephaestus agreed. "Great power swells within the clouds. The potential is hair-raising."
"I would oft come to earth just for this feeling," Apollo spoke next. "There's nothing like it."
"Perhaps it is a sense of godlike nostalgia among Zeus's children," Athena said before taking a big wiff of the air. "We all love storms, it seems."
I preferred sunny weather, but it wasn't like I didn't understand. There was something exilerating about a storm so intense that it knocked the power out. We'd gather together in the living room and light all our candles, and play board games while we listened to the rolling thunder over our heads.
I missed that.
I missed my family.
And it was striking me just then as we pulled up to the shore that I might never see anyone I loved ever again. I had been so caught up in getting away from an angry deity that I hadn't really had the time to sit and think about the state of my life.
The longboat rumbled beneath us as it bore into the rocky shoreline. The other gods climbed out and onto the shore, and I followed quietly behind them. We marched up the torchlit path to the great hall under heavy fog. The rocks crunched under my boots as I moved up the incline. I never did tire or run out of breath— divinity had robbed me of such mortal difficulties. I should have been thrilled, but my heart was heavy. Would I never know the challenge of exercise again?
I shook the thoughts away. I kept thinking like a poet inside my head. It was so weird having my inner monologue change. Would I be speaking like Artemis eventually? Or could I keep a more natural sentence structure like Athena? At least she used contractions. Artemis sounded like a language model; like Microsoft Sam, or Starfire from Teen Titans or something— like she was still getting a grasp on the language after thousands of years.
When we reached the top of the path, we stood before the great hall's massive wooden doors. We beheld them for only a moment before they parted in the middle and creaked open. A tall man— taller than any of us strode out of the hall. He wore what looked like an animal pelt across his silver shoulder pauldrons, and the rest of his outfit was made up of dark leather that thinly veiled his abdominal muscles. He surveyed us through a single eye, brushing his long grey hair out of his face and behind his ears. I couldn't tell if he was smiling beneath his thick beard.
"You have ten seconds to explain," he spoke harshly.
It was a safe bet that he wasn't smiling.
"It's the new deity," Athena spoke quickly. "Brian," she clarified, turning and looking over her shoulder at me.
"Me?" I cried out in surprise. "I haven't done anything yet!"
"His domains are indulgence, isolation, and humor... so far as we know. It the second of his domains that concerns you."
"But we promise," Artemis interjected. "He cannot control it yet! And you will understand, soon enough, that it is best that we cannot be detected."
The man looked me over, his frown softening into a look of curiosity. "How about that?" he asked, moving through the crowd of gods nearer to me. "I didn't know about it," he said in a deep tone. "Do you have any idea," he asked, looking me dead in the eyes. "... How long it has been since I didn't know something?"
The valleys of age that ran across his face didn't for a single second betray the enormity of his might. I could feel the weight of his power on my shoulders as he studied me. I didn't have to ask who he was. I could feel it in my bones— this was Odin.
This was the All-Father.
Athena appeared at his side and smiled sweetly at him. "How does it feel?" she asked.
"Unnerving," he answered. "And yet... exhilerating, I could not sense any of you approaching. I didn't know you would be here before I heard the horns of the boatmen." he turned to her. "How is this possible?"
"Well, now," Athena said in her most charming voice. "How would you like to hear a story you haven't heard before? One you didn't immediately know as the pen met the page?"
"Ha," he placed a thick hand on her shoulder. "I knew I would like you, Athena." He turned to the others and smiled genuinely. "Come! Join me at my table! We have about an hour before Poseidon shows up asking for you."
I was in awe.
He was completely omniscient it seemed.
He knew all— except for me.
I couldn't help the feeling of unease as we followed him into the hall and the gargantuan wooden doors closed behind us. If Odin felt I was a threat to him...
I was certain none of us would be able to stand up to him.

2024.06.01 15:58 AVMIxBOBA (AITA) for being really close with my friend's boyfriend?

So I have a friend who moved to New Zealand a couple of months ago. She had a crush on a boy and she introduced me and my bff to her crush and as soon as I met him I knew he was a bad person. My bff warned my friend that her crush was a bad person and my friend didn't care about that.. so i started to text her crush to prove her that he was a bad person. I'm not proud of myself for doing that but it was for her.. and the more I started to text him the more I started to fall for him. I know that I'm the asshole for this but I'm really trying to get rid of those feelings.. and eventually they started to date. And my bff hated him alot cause he called her short, but it's a dumb reason to hate on somebody for this... And my parents found out that I was texting a boy so they deleted all my online games. This is really a lame reason to cry but I didn't have alot of friends back then and I used those games as an escape from reality. And I started to text him more and ranted about my life. And my bff didn't know these things cause I knew these things would ruin our friendship and I also acted appropriately with my friend's bf. A few weeks ago they broke up and he was kinda depressed and I was there for him. But he was obsessed with my friend so I get why she broke up with him and ghosted him. And he was also like I'm going to die- which I was really concerned about and when I told my bff she was like let him die. He deserves to die. And also recommend me to break his trust. Which I was really mad about. And I didn't really text her after.. and my friend's ex was acting really inappropriate to me , which was really uncomfortable and it's important to know that we are minors but i don't know I think he did it for fun, After he acted really inappropriate I decided to block him and I regretted that immediately and started to cry for hours.. cause his mental health was hanging and I was the only person there for him. so I unblocked him and seems like he cried for hours too.. and my friend added him back on snapchat. So he told her that he liked me.. and he confessed to me later that day and I rejected him saying that he was like my brother. I guess i lied but I wouldn't date him since he was my friend's ex and she still liked him. I'm pretty sure he felt embarrassed after that rejection and I screwed up by showing all of his and my messages to my friend. And my idiotic friend decided to tell him that she saw all of his and my chats using my account which I didn't know anything about? And when he asked me I had to say yes, but she was using his account since she still had his password. It doesn't matter but I still betrayed his trust, and I feel really bad about that but it was the only thing that felt right at that moment. And he also started to like a new girl, like replaced me in 2 days.. even now he kinda ignores my texts and all that but I guess I deserve it. And my bff is forcing me to leave him saying that he is manipulative and many other people also agree but I feel like I'm manipulating myself.. please give me suggestions on what to do next, I'm really confused. ( my English is really bad here since I'm not really fluent ) please don't mind that. Feel free to hate me but I just need suggestions on what to do next.

2024.06.01 15:57 Matyi10012 What is the point of new weapons if they are not viable? Why should a player bring any other weapon than the few ones which work? Just to struggle?

Against bugs, I run gatling sentry, autocannon sentry, expendable anti-tank and 380 barrage.
The variation I mostly see above difficulty 7 boils down to this.
The game farts out so many chargers if I don't bring expendable anti tank I'm doomed to run around them. They are blatantly fast, they turn rapidly and if you get close they can one hit stomp you. So maybe someone brings a quasar, but an anti tank is just better due to being quicker. So this already eliminates a lot of options/playstyles.
Honestly feels pointless to bring any of these stratagems just due to the fact of the highly armoured enemies you face
I know there are exceptions, but the majority of stratagems and support weapons are straight up useless. All of my friends stopped playing because the game is really annoying and the fun factor is quite low. And on the top of this if you want to have a somewhat decent chance at a mission you have to wring a very specific loadout.
Geniunely the majority of stratagems/support weapons seriously need a buff, and a lot of enemies need a nerf. Because just on the bug side chargers, spewers, titans make it pointless to bring most of the stratagems/support weapons.

🕵️ Microsoft's Recall AI: Efficiency upgrade or privacy nightmare?

Microsoft has recently released Recall, a controversial AI-powered tool that logs everything you see and do on your computer, including app usage, live meeting communications, websites visited, and more. By simply performing a "Recall" action, users can retrieve any information they've interacted with on their device, presented in the context of a specific time period.
Microsoft assures users that the Recall index remains local and private on-device. Users can pause, stop, or delete captured content and can choose to exclude specific apps or websites. And Recall automatically excludes InPrivate web browsing sessions in Microsoft Edge and DRM-protected content.
Currently, Recall is exclusively compatible with new "Copilot Plus PCs" equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite chips, which feature the necessary neural processing unit (NPU).

🎧 AI-powered headphones let you listen to one person in a crowd

AI-powered headphones let you listen to one person in a crowd

Researchers at the University of Washington have developed a groundbreaking artificial intelligence system called "Target Speech Hearing" that allows headphone wearers to isolate and listen to a single speaker in a noisy environment. By simply looking at the desired speaker for three to five seconds, the user can "enroll" them, and the system will cancel out all other sounds, playing only the enrolled speaker's voice in real-time, even as the listener moves around.
The proof-of-concept device, which uses off-the-shelf headphones fitted with microphones and an on-board embedded computer, builds upon the team's previous "semantic hearing" research. The system's ability to focus on the enrolled voice improves as the speaker continues talking, providing more training data. While currently limited to enrolling one speaker at a time and requiring a clear line of sight, the researchers are working to expand the system to earbuds and hearing aids in the future.

⚡ xAI’s supercomputer that’s 4x larger than existing GPU clusters

Elon Musk has recently disclosed plans to build a groundbreaking supercomputer to power the next iteration of xAI’s chatbot, Grok. According to a presentation made to investors in May, as reported by The Information, Musk aims to have this computing system operational by the fall of 2025. The ambitious project may involve a collaboration between xAI and Oracle to develop this massive computing infrastructure.
The proposed supercomputer will consist of interconnected clusters of Nvidia's state-of-the-art H100 graphics processing units (GPUs). Musk revealed that upon completion, the scale of this system will surpass the largest existing GPU clusters by at least fourfold!

🚨 Google AI Overview gives dangerous and wrong answers

Google's AI Overviews feature, which generates AI-powered responses to user queries, has been providing incorrect and sometimes bizarre answers. From suggesting glue on pizza, staring at sun for health benefits to claiming that former US President Barack Obama is Muslim, the feature has left users questioning the reliability of AI-generated search results.

While Google maintains that these mistakes result from uncommon queries and are being used to refine the product, the technology's widespread deployment has highlighted the challenges and risks of integrating AI into search engines.

🚀 GPT-4 is a better financial analyst than humans

In a groundbreaking study, researchers at the University of Chicago have discovered that GPT-4, a large language model, can analyze financial statements and predict future earnings direction with remarkable accuracy. Even without narrative context, GPT-4 outperforms human financial analysts and achieves prediction accuracy on par with state-of-the-art machine learning models.
The AI model's success is not simply a result of its training memory but rather its ability to generate valuable narrative insights about a company's future performance. Notably, trading strategies based on GPT-4's predictions yield higher returns and risk-adjusted performance than those based on other models, especially for small companies.

😲 Shocking details about Sam Altman's firing last year

Former OpenAI board member Helen Toner revealed shocking details about Sam Altman’s firing in November 2023. The board had found it difficult to trust Altman after he failed to disclose he owned the OpenAI Startup Fund, gave inaccurate information about the company's safety processes, and tried to push Toner off the board after she published a critical research paper. She claims the board found out about the launch of ChatGPT on Twitter, not from Altman.
Video Source
Toner also pointed to Altman's history of being fired from previous jobs for "deceptive and chaotic behavior." (Find the full TED AI episode linked below.)
After Altman was initially fired, there was a lot of backlash from OpenAI employees who wanted him reinstated. A week later, he was reinstated as the CEO and a new board was formed.

2024.06.01 15:52 CozyCraving Cozy Craving [Semi-Vanilla] {Survival} {Java 1.20.6} {Geyser Bedrock} {No Whitelist} {Diamond Economy} {Expanding Perma Map} {CoreProtect} {Dedicated Server} {Dynmap} {USA}

🌐 「 Our Server in a Nutshell 」 🌐

We are a new server - our community and buildings are all since mid February of 2024. Our current map is 14k by 14k, and will continue expanding to make new vanilla content accessible as it is released and accommodate more players as the server grows. Our vision is to have a server that is as vanilla as possible, while also addressing various QoL issues that come along with a large playerbase on an unwhitelisted server. As such, we have implemented a handful of plugins including renewable elytra (via the ender dragon fight), a simple chest shop system using currency that is interconvertible with diamonds, and night skip with just one player sleeping.
We have an outstanding community of builders! From skyscrapers and cozy villages to high-efficiency iron and raid farms, we have it all. We also have a nether roof transportation hub easily accessible from spawn and with blue ice boat paths. Want to see more? Our photo galleries linked below. There are plenty of active players who are happy to help you get started and fill in the gaps for you!
We have no land claims plugin, but rest assured your builds and items are safe. We use CoreProtect, a plugin which keeps detailed logs of blocks, items, entities, and more. It allows for custom, precision rollbacks of specific players, time ranges, locations, and more. This allows for convenient grief reversal in real time. The CoreProtect inspect command is enabled for all players which allows you to check the logs of containers and blocks; you can see if alterations have been made by someone who does or does not have your permission without needing staff assistance.

🧭 「 Our Principles 」 🧭

Community First: Our primary goal is to foster a fun, cooperative, supportive community on our server. Profit from the server is not a short or long-term goal. We want to scale and develop our community, but at a pace that is reasonable and sustainable.
Long-Term Map: We plan to never reset the map. We want builds, farms, and communities made on the server to be permanent, and this is why we have opted for an expanding map to incorporate content from new releases.
Golden Rule: Respect. Other. Players. You can see a more precise list of rules on our spawn board or Discord server, but in general all rules follow from the simple principles of respecting others and using common sense.
Work Hard, Play Hard: The server is on hard difficulty. There is no keepinventory, no /tp, no /back, no warps other than /spawn and /home, and staff will not use tools to roll back legitimate deaths or mistakes that do not violate the rules. We hope in our community you will become a pro gamer, and this means learning to navigate all the difficulties of the Minecraft world, even if they are sometimes frustrating or inconvenient. We aim to preserve the minimalism and realism of Minecraft, as we believe these features are essential for maximizing players' sense of immersion in our world and community. We hope you will feel the same way if you give it a try!
No P2W: We do not and will not even remotely resemble a Pay to Win server. We do accept donations. There are currently no perks for donors, but if any future perks are added they will be purely cosmetic (e.g. colored names or tags in game or on Discord).

📀 「 Discord Overview 」 📀

On our Discord you can:
  • Submit help tickets to notify staff of problems
  • Submit suggestion tickets with your ideas about how to improve the server
  • Read our FAQ and Info sections for additional information

2024.06.01 15:51 mgnmoo 34 [F] Canada/Online - looking for someone to get to know

Hi!
I'm Megan. I'm 34, I'm 5'2", plus sized with dark copperish hair and brown eyes. I have 3 facial piercings(nose, septum and Medusa), and 4 tattoos, 2 of which are ghosts lol.
I will warn you that I'm fresh out of a long term, abusive relationship. I'm in the process of restarting my life. And that looks a little messy right now.
Anyway...
My biggest obsession is the paranormal, specifically spirits and ghost hunting shows but I like cryptids too. I will talk to you for hours about ghost related content except Ghost Adventures cause fuck Zak, he can suck a chode for all I care. I also love anything spooky and odd, and also true crime. Big big fan of cows and everything cow print. Music is a big part of my life and I love EDM, indie, grunge and post grunge the most. I love the summer for the warm weather and being able to go to beach, and fall for spooky, cozy vibes. My fav holiday is oddly enough Christmas though. I love cooking, video games, going for walks, camping, and cruises. I'm a mixed bag of interests and we'd be here all day if I posted them all.
I also want to add that I'm autistic so please understand this before messaging. Sometimes I can't people, and I need you to understand that I'm not trying to be rude by being short or to the point. 420 and alcohol friendly but I don't do hard drugs anymore.
Looking for someone who's none of the phobics (transphobic, homophobic, etc etc) and not ableist, sexist, ageist, etc..just basically someone who's tolerant and nonjudgmental and not an asshole. Looks doesn't matter to me, as long as you're a good person. I want to be able to send reels and tiktoks to, talk about life, joke and laugh with, maybe game with or watch movies with you. I need someone who understands my situation and is willing to be patient with me. I'm trying my best but I'm in a really raw spot..I don't wanna be alone, that's why I'm reaching out.
So if that's you, please message me. Try to say more than a simple 'hey'. Introduce yourself if you will, helps me see if we'd be a good match. I probably won't respond if you just say "hey whatsup" or throw a petname at me and call it a day.
I have pics if that's important to you and I have discord and snap we can move the chat to if we vibe.
If you read all of this, kudos to you! Hopefully, we'll talk soon.

2024.06.01 15:50 Suspicious-Row-3614 Unveiling the Believers: A Deep Dive into Surah Al-Mu'minun

Surah Al-Mu’minun, the 23rd chapter of the Holy Quran, resonates deeply with Muslims worldwide. Literally translating to “The Believers,” this powerful Meccan Surah lays the foundation for Islamic faith and illuminates the characteristics of those who embody true belief. Revealed in the early years of Islam, Surah Al-Mu’minun offers a timeless message that continues to guide Muslims across generations.
A Tapestry of Themes: Unveiling the Message
Comprised of 118 verses, Surah Al-Mu’minun unfolds like a captivating tapestry, weaving together interwoven themes:
Successful indeed are the believers. (Quran 23:1)
Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. (Quran 23:2)
And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that Allah has forbidden). (Quran 23:3)
And those who pay the Zakat (Quran 23:4)
And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) (Quran 23:5)
Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; (Quran 23:6)
But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; (Quran 23:7)
Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all the duties which Allah has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts etc.) and to their covenants; (Quran 23:8)
And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawat (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours). (Quran 23:9)
And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people, and he said: “O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him (Islamic Monotheism). Will you not then be afraid (of Him i.e. of His Punishment because of worshipping others besides Him)?” (Quran 23:23)
Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. (Quran 23:44)
Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, (Quran 23:45)
And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. (Quran 23:50)
Until, when death comes to one of them (those who join partners with Allah), he says: “My Lord! Send me back, (Quran 23:99)
“So that I may do good in that which I have left behind!” No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is Barzakh (a barrier) until the Day when they will be resurrected. (Quran 23:100)
Then, when the Trumpet is blown, there will be no kinship among them that Day, nor will they ask of one another. (Quran 23:101)
“Were not My Verses (this Quran) recited to you, and then you used to deny them?” (Quran 23:105)
Verily! There was a party of My slaves, who used to say: “Our Lord! We believe, so forgive us, and have mercy on us, for You are the Best of all who show mercy!” (Quran 23:109)
And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allah, any other ilah (god), of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kafirun (the disbelievers in Allah and in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists, pagans, idolaters, etc.) will not be successful. (Quran 23:117)
And say (O Muhammad SAW): “My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy!” (Quran 23:118)
Unearthing Gems of Wisdom: Lessons from Surah Al-Mu’minun
Surah Al-Mu’minun offers a treasure trove of wisdom for Muslims seeking to deepen their faith and live a meaningful life:
References from the Holy Quran:
Facing Pharaoh and the Ten Plagues:
The Surah vividly portrays the confrontation between Moses (AS) ( عليه السلام) and Pharaoh (23:54-56). Moses (AS) ( عليه السلام) presented Pharaoh with clear signs of Allah’s (SWT) power, but Pharaoh remained arrogant and refused to release the Israelites.
The Parting of the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s Demise:
Despite the plagues, Pharaoh’s heart remained hardened. The Israelites, under the guidance of Moses (AS) ( عليه السلام), miraculously escaped across the parted Red Sea. However, Pharaoh and his army pursued them, determined to reclaim their lost slaves. The waters then crashed back together, engulfing Pharaoh and his forces. This event marked a pivotal moment in the history of salvation and serves as a testament to Allah’s (SWT) power over the oppressors.
Conclusion
Surah Al-Mu’minun concludes by emphasizing the importance of remembering the stories of the prophets and learning from their experiences (23:99-100). The Surah serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for Muslims, reminding them that Allah (SWT) rewards those who remain steadfast in their faith and overcome adversity.
This extended version provides a more comprehensive overview of the stories of Prophets Hud (AS) ( عليه السلام) and Moses (AS) ( عليه السلام), enriching the understanding of Surah Al-Mu’munun’s message.

2024.06.01 15:49 pistikiraly_2 The desire for more content VS preserving the "integrity" of a story

(minor spoilers for Dune, but I try to be as non-descriptive as possible)
Have you ever watched, or played or experienced an adaptation of a story that was so good, that you feel conflicted on whether or not you want to experience the source material?
This is something that I subconsciously struggled with before, but I just recently recognised this feeling after finishing all of the Steins;Gate anime.
For those that might not know, Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 are anime adaptations of visual novel games. I have become obsessed with Steins;Gate, can't get enough of it, I watched the animes, the movie, most of the OVAs (though not all yet), and after that I did what (I would assume) a lot of other people do and started watching reaction videos to "try to re-experience it", I guess you could say. But, you know, that can only get so far. And it was during this that I learned through Youtube comments that the anime originates from visual novels. So it would be a fair assumption that I should play the visual novels too, after all, I am desperately after more content, right?
But, you know, I don't think I want to. If I were to play the visual novels, or read the manga or something like that, my feelings towards/opinion of the anime would change. I might think less of it, because I would be like "why isn't this in the anime?", "why was this changed?", "why is this different?".
Reading the source material for an adaptation always changes your feelings towards the adaptation. It always makes it a comparison between the two, and the adaptation usually loses that comparison. Once you experience the source material, the adapation becomes less/non-canon is a sense, because it's different then what was originally intended.
I've always been the kind of person to read the manga to animes I really liked, to get more of the story, and to get it the way it was intended, that's why I know first-hand just how much it can change your perception of a series. After reading the Tokyo Ghoul manga, I can't go back to the anime, after reading Berserk I can only think of how inferior the adaptations are compared to it, after reading Jojo's I can only think of how much the anime butchered the pacing in some places.
But I don't want the same thing to happen to Steins;Gate, because I love the anime, and I feel like I would, in a way, invalidate my feelings towards it by experiencing the source material.
And it's not just with anime and manga, but other media as well.
I love Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk Edgerunners, I love the characters, the world, the stories, I love it. I will watch the live-action series they are working on and will play the sequel. But I will never read any of the books for the original table-top game. I will not look at any OG lore that isn't in the game/series itself. Because I love the story and world the way they are, and I don't want to change that, even if it means ignoring heaps of more content.
Same with Lord of the Rings. I love the movies, even the Hobbit trilogy (tho it is much worse than LOTR). I will probably never read any of the books, because, again, that would take away from the story of the movies by adding comparison.
I wanted to do the same with Dune. I love the new Dune movies. But my enjoyment of their story is already affected somewhat by learning about the Spacing Guild and how they were pretty much cut out from the movies from Reddit and Youtube. Like, when I was watching the movies I didn't miss them, I didn't care about them, because they weren't in the movie, but that didn't impact the story for me. But now that I know about them, I'm like, the Spacing Guild is pretty important, why weren't they in the films? (tho this can be fixed in the 3rd film) But like, even this small amount of knowledge permanently changed the way I feel about the story of the movies. It's still incredible and I still love it, but it's no longer the almost perfect 10/10 I watched in the cinema, it's the still great, but flawed adatpation of something more developed and complex.
Of course I try to appreciate the adaptations of things I know the source material to for what they are, and not for what they aren't, but it can be hard to not draw comparisons.
And obviously I don't avoid the source material for every adaptation I consume. I will still read the manga for a lot of anime I like, and I will still read the book of some movies or series I watch. But sometimes an adaptation feels so special to me that I don't want to take away anything from it and I don't want to change anything about it.
So I guess what I'm trying to say here is that sometimes preserving the way you think and feel about a story is more important than getting more content out of it. It's up to everyone individually to decide what is more important to them, and which stories they want to preserve. It can be kind of hard to overcome the desire for more out of a story you love, but to me at least, sometimes the integrity, I guess you could say, of the story is simply more important.

2024.06.01 15:48 Secure-Ad5639 Help with upgrading my current laptop

Help with upgrading my current laptop
Hello everyone!
I purchased a Gigabyte G5 MD gaming laptop in 2022. With the exception of cooling, performance, battery life, and storage, everything has been going rather well so far. With roughly 100 GB free right now, I'm playing GTA V, Sims 4, and Fortnite.
Is it possible to increase the storage or add anything more that I can do on my own? It lags occasionally in GTA V and Fortnite, therefore I would want more storage and better performance. A couple YouTube videos about upgrading this particular laptop have caught my attention, but I'm not sure I really understand what components were added or how to connect them to the laptop.
I appreciate the help and the time reading this!
I should point out that buying a brand-new laptop is out of the question.

2024.06.01 15:48 luckilydan_ Upcoming Content Preview ~ Yandere Simulator ~ YandereDev Patreon

Note: I am not subscribed to YandereDev's Patreon nor do I support or endorse his actions - this information was leaked through a Discord server. The leaked information was translated to Spanish, so I decided to translate it into English. Just letting you know, because some part of the translation might be incorrect.
UPCOMING CONTENT PREVIEW
Hello, today I am going to try something new. I'm going to post a preview of the upcoming content, except you'll get a different preview depending on your Patreon level.
$3: A text description of the upcoming content. $5: A screenshot of upcoming content. $10: A 70-second video of upcoming content.
Although I am currently focusing on polishing Amai's week, I have already started requesting the assets I'll need for Kizana's week, and they're being provided to me bit by bit. Recently, I received a very important asset: the building that the player will infiltrate in the "Befriend/Betray Kizana" stealth mission!
I'm not going to reveal the nature of the building to you - who owns it, what kind of business is carried out here, etc. - but I will tell you a few things about it:
It has four floors. The ground floor is the reception area, the upper floor is almost entirely dedicated to the CEO's extravagant office and the two middle floors are for business.
A security guard will patrol the outside of the building. There will be a receptionist at the reception. The CEO and two of his employees will be present in the building and will be a threat to the player.
There will be five ways to enter the building: Front door, back door, second floor window, third floor window, and fourth floor balcony. You'll have to find a way to get the receptionist away from the front desk if you want to get through without being stopped. Entering through the fourth floor is the most direct way to reach your objective, but requires you to infiltrate an adjacent building. If you enter through either window, you'll have to stack things to make a makeshift ladder and then climb it, just like in the "Befriend/Betray Amai" stealth mission. The exterior environment of this building will be smaller than the environment of Amai's "Befriend" and "Betray" stealth missions. This was a deliberate decision: Amai's stealth mission was too big and took a lot of time and work to implement. However, the environment outside this building will still be larger than the environment outside the stalker's house in the Osana stealth mission.
If you watch the video, you'll notice some errors in the environment, such as the stairs that intersect with the windows. Don't worry; These bugs will be fixed before the release of Kizana.
Like the Amai stealth mission environment, this environment has been paid for by your donations to Patreon! Your support continues to make the development of the game possible.
Thank you for supporting the development of Yandere Simulator!

2024.06.01 15:47 steave44 The way new nations is brought to the game needs to change

I understand there are more nations than ever and the game is a lot bigger but man if you played back in the day you’d understand.
When the US ground forces were added, sure it was not fully fleshed out as it is today, but it was at least like 20 or so vehicles in one update, and it was the “US ground forces update” and it was pretty much the only thing released that update.
Nations introduced also took much longer between releases, we weren’t getting like 2 a year, they took their time and a treee typically came out pretty fleshed out, maybe not the best but at least full for the time.
Now, Finland, Hungary, and Benelux come out to the tune of 2 maybe three unique tanks and then 3-4 copy paste and they call it a day. Then those subtrees may get 1-2 tanks or planes per year at best, often being premium.
For Hungary, you could’ve had a whole update just for them with only vehicles they made and bought to operate, and it would still be a small update. But gaijin didn’t even do that. Same for Benelux now.
Making an update solely about the new nation brings focus to it. It makes people that want new content try it out. Climb up the ranks. But when a new tree comes out and it only has 5-6 tanks and it’s one per rank basically, no one will bother as it’s too long a grind to even get into trying multiple tanks.
If they had done for example: This Benelux Update with almost no other nations getting content but Benelux releasing completed, I think most would find that better.
I don’t care if one update would encompass every tank or plane a small nation ever used. We don’t have to space out small nations content over 3-4 years, if you love that nation and that’s all they ever made/used, that’s tough luck, but at least it’s complete

2024.06.01 15:40 Giulio1232 Would removing the magnification from the .44 mag be a nerf or a buff?

Since the .44 Vendetta was added to the game, i was thinking what if ubisoft removed the magnification from the original .44 mag, making the sight a 1x, would be considered a nerf or a buff. Imo it would be a buff so there is no recoil magnification making it easier to use and actually a viable choice over the other secondaries

2024.06.01 15:40 valdirunars Is Generating Scout Reports on Opponents Before Online Chess Games Cheating?

Hey fellow chess enthusiasts,
Regarding tools that allows players to create detailed scout reports on their opponents before an online match. The app analyzes opponents’ past games, highlights their strengths and weaknesses, and even suggests strategies to exploit their weaknesses.
This got me thinking: Is using such a tool considered cheating in the world of online chess, or is it just another form of preparation?
On one hand, it seems similar to studying an opponent's games before a tournament match, which is a common and accepted practice in professional chess. However, the ease and depth of the analysis provided by such an app might give users an unfair advantage, especially in casual online games where players usually don't have access to such detailed information.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!
Full disclosure: The reason I ask is that I created one such tool ( chesscomscout.com) and don't want to promote usage that would be considered cheating by the chess community.
Do you think this type of tool would enhance the game by adding a new layer of strategy, or do they undermine the spirit of fair play? How should online chess platforms handle the use of these tools?
Looking forward to your opinions and insights!

2024.06.01 15:37 GnosisRa I've finally started to win online games.

For a short while, I found myself losing pretty much every round I played. I started to get frustrated and figured I just didn't have the right brain to win. I'm no stranger to card games, so this was a bit defeating for me. I know there are quite a few people on her who had the same experience.
But things have tipped over for me now - after reading some guides on dragonball.gg and watching a few YouTube videos, something just clicked. I've got a pretty solid U7 Son Goku deck that allows me to aggro pretty hard. Works pretty well against most decks, the only ones I seem to struggle against are Frieza and ToP Goku.
I encourage anyone who is finding it difficult to win matches to keep at it! Do some research, watch some videos, pay attention to what other players do and hopefully the same will happen for you. I'm looking forward to exploring deeper into some other colours and expanding my knowledge of the card database.
These tips may seem obvious to most, but for new players these fundamentals will hopefully help:
Much love!
