This was years ago. I was in my final stretch of the bachelor's degree and had to do an internship for a semester to graduate. I looked around but in the end I decided to just do it at the local internet Cafe I was hanging out at. I knew the owner, I had spent a considerable amount of time there so it seemed like the easiest path.
The owner, M., had two guys for IT support but they were working remotely. They had the PCs almost automated, loading a prepared image when needed or on each boot and they would come down every three months for some checks. So I thought I could learn from them, they always seemed cool. And he needed someone a little more technically capable than the current employees. I would do the usual, make coffee and tend the registry but also help customers or repair hardware when needed so that he wouldn't have to ship it to the pair of IT guys.
Everything was peachy. Besides the usual creeps and some GPUs that were failing (managed to "fix" some of them by putting them in the oven, having found an article about it) it was excellent. I worked nights, which was quiet and just counted the days to the end of the internship so I could go and find a real job.
At some point, about two months in my internship, things started happening. It was at a time where there was no reconnecting to an online game, not most of them anyway. And Dota was popular. Like the actual warcraft 3 map. So customers were rightly pissed when connections started dropping like flies. They would play and then nothing, network would drop them.
The IT guys immediately said we need to change the switch in the server rack room (more like a rack closet). But that was expensive and not a guaranteed solution. So the boss stonewalled until customers threatened to leave and go elsewhere. He tasked me to find one online which I got from ebay for half the price. It was shipped, received and the guys guided me on the phone on installing it.
For a few days it was okay until the issue returned. And I had limited experience so I did my best. Went online, tried several things but nothing. It went on for a couple weeks more until I had the idea to do some data mining. Nothing much, but I just started writing down details about when the disconnections happened. Soon it became apparent to me that it only happened when there were more than a number of customers in the shop. About 20 or so but it wasn't an exact number. I did some research and found a setting on the network card for each computer (they were loading an image, remember?), related to high stress or something. I can't recall the name or where it was, but essentially when the network reached a certain bandwidth it shut down the Lan port. It was just a bloody check box.
The IT guys fixed it, repaired the images as well with the new setting and we all went on to playing Dota like nobody's business. But I still use it in some interviews when asked how I handle problems.

There is this golf Simulator business that I signed up for a monthly membership of $70 dollars a month. When I signed up for the membership directly with the owner, they explained to me about this being a 28 day cycle. That’s was the only fee they disclosed.
Then 5 hours before midnight on May 31st they sent out a notification about an anual maintenance fee of $80, that would be charged the next day. Upon signing up there was no disclosure of this fee. On their website there is no disclosure of this fee as well. On their mobile app there is also no information about this fee. I did not sign anything approving this fee or check any boxes. Just gave the owner my credit card details for agreeing to the monthly charge. I’m only a week into my membership and they are charging everyone.

Rhea was the Danger. Liv's just a nuisance!
Trish's durability wasn't up to scratch. You can feel the gem class jump here (is this how the AI felt when I bulldozered my way through pg chapter 6 with Shaemus).
Its not just the reversals coming out the wazoo and your reversal window being minuscule! It's the damage they do when they hit you too! And Rhea is a fucking BEAST!
So, I never really tried Zoey out (why would you when you got Trish and Iyo) and this looked like the best one Badge wise! Second highest rated female card in that pack.
A mix of Ruby FW Bailey and FW Trish with badges that boost recovery and health....Trish is a cannon but the damage output is negated by those two Amethyst reversal machines and their fucking one bomb moves that splatter you like a Jackson Pollock!
I was thinking balls the wall FW BAILEY TO NEGATE THEIR OFFENSE...BUT HER MA SPECIFICS WILL BE A 'MARE!
I wanted/needed/yearned for a striker or PH. Saw Zoey, who I packed earlier in the chapter!
Tried her out and goddamn is she a hidden gem!
Trish is still the top but Zoey's got some stuff going on! And it's very PG specific! Very much for this kind of situation!

Very well balanced and very nice moveset! Signature is a knee to head (MASVIDAL)! Finisher, a pin combo! Both feel strong! She feels fast and agile but tough and durable! She also packs a punch!
Badges: Blue Stings (offensive), Blue QR (get back in the fight!), Silver Wet Blanket (negate their finisher) and silver endurance (defensive- heals). Its a nice balanced card! I'm still offensive, but I got ways of stifling their power!

I just finished my first (and only) Aux year at IES Abastos in Ciudad Valencia and am headed back to the US in a week and at that time I plan on disconnecting from all the Aux groups and moving on with my life, but before I go I wanted to leave a message here for any future Aux who may search for this school name when they get their placement...you are so damn lucky! Congratulations! (and if you want any additional information please respond to this post and I'll try to keep an eye out for notifications this summer).
It's an amazingly beautiful building right in the heart (!!!) of Valencia city, staffed with friendly and talented teachers and staff. It is an IES (high school) and an FP (vocational school--Computer (IT, web design, AI) and Business tracks. The teachers I worked with (in all of the above programs) all spoke excellent English. The administration is easy going but often super busy so if they forget to give you a printing card or computer login or bathroom key, just remind them ;-)and generous re scheduling, etc. They asked my preferred hours and I only worked 3 days (16 hours) a week, Tuesday-Thursday! 4 day weekends! Not promising they can do the same for you, but if they can they will. But the compromise for my compact schedule was that every class was a different group and/or subject, which was a lot to keep track of initially, prep-wise, but I learned you can often reuse/adapt the same lesson across different groups. I came to know the faces but alas not the names of the approx 200 students I saw each week.
The students were never disrespectful (not intentionally anyway--they ARE mostly adolescents though, so not paying attention or acting like, well, hormonal teens, is par for the course). There's a lot of projector use in the classrooms versus board work. Often the teachers will want you to come up with your own lesson plans (based on what they are covering or simply whatever you want) and yes, it can eat up several hours of your off time if you want to have fun with it (but it makes your work week so much more rewarding) but if occasionally you can't, they understand. You can always play pictionary or hangman or 20 questions or some other easily adapted game at a moments notice--I highly recommend building that skill. For example: oh, we are doing past tense vocabulary today and you want me to do something for 15 minutes at the end? I draw a tic tac toe grid on the board, quickly divide the class into teams (competition is popular!) and have one rep from each team come to the board and who ever can write the past tense of a particular word first gets to put their X or 0 in first, before the other team. Repeat until one team wins 3 in a row. Easy peasey.
FYI, I have posted some of the most rewarding lessons I did with my classes on the FB Auxiliary Secondary lesson planning (Madrid) group and I used several that others had posted there too. Check it out. No reason to reinvent the wheel.
This year the Valencia payments were consistently on time (around the 10th of the month, give or take a day, starting in November if you got your bank info submitted asap--I recommend N26 online bank). Housing can be competitive and spendy, expect to spend at LEAST 400 euros for a room (not an entire apartment) if you want to live relatively close to the school and it may take you awhile to find one (I have no personal advice to offer re: that as I used my savings to rent an adorable but expensive apartment to live on my own and host guests from home, I just know what other Auxes told me). Getting your TIE/toma de huellas appt will be a nightmare but just grin and bear it. The metro and bus system in the city is wonderful and I got a valenbici subscription vs purchasing a bike and made ample use of it and the protected bike lanes (there's a protected lane that goes directly to a valenbici bike station in front of the school!). There are several local Valencia Aux Whatsapp groups you should join (for info, Auxiliaries VLC 2022; for fun/meet ups, Valencian Kids) as well as local Whatsapp hiking groups (if you are so inclined to join amazing local hikes on the weekend).
Not gonna give a travel review of Valencia itself but suffice to say it is AMAZING! And Fallas! Oh.My.God. The first two weeks of March are INSANE! Enjoy!

About 8 months ago, my brother in law (husband’s brother) introduced us to his girlfriend. She and I hit it off immediately! She was sweet, funny and seemed to genuinely like him! They looked great together. After about 3-4 months, he proposed and she said yes. We were happy for them since they’re both a bit older.
My husband and I are US citizens originally from a small (xcuse me french) *shithole country 😩 Our community in our town is very involved with each other (everyone in everyone’s business) with all the gossip and toxicity that follow small communities everywhere.
2 months ago, I happened to overhear my BIL with his friends when they came over to watch a NBA game. My husband had gone to bed but they were still drinking and talking in the living room. I was trying to find ways to gently tell them to go home when I heard them.
BIL was telling them he was only with his fiancée for a green card, that she was fat/ugly and he was gonna bide his time until he got his citizenship then bounce. He was wondering whether he should get a vasectomy to not get her pregnant and be stuck paying child support forever.
I was shocked. Almost frozen from stupefaction. I’m not naive. I had heard of ppl within our community who had only married for a green card (unfortunately).
But I genuinely thought BIL was different. His fiancée was the sweetest girl and to think she was gonna have her life almost destroyed over this. Ummm so yeah, I told her.
It wasn’t an easy conversation. She almost didn’t believe me. She confronted him and he swore up and down that I lied and was just jealous (??).
She stayed with him for awhile. In the meantime, BIL blew up at me, my husband, rallied his parents & siblings against me. I was basically a lying traitorous snake who was trying to ruin the life of a good son. I got threatening messages from the family & the community at large.
The fiancée stayed a bit but I guess she eventually couldn’t trust him anymore so she broke off the engagement and broke off all contact with his whole family (including me who told her). My BIL has to either leave the country soon or be out of legal status (become undocumented so to speak).
I’m now pretty much a pariah. They’ve gaslighted me by saying I misheard what BIL said. That he was just joking among friends. That I had seen how much they were in love so why would I think he was only there for a GC?
That I shouldn't have “tattled” to someone I’d only met a few months prior over family I’ve known for years. That I should have at least spoken with him before going to her. That even she knew i was crazy that’s why she cut off all contact with me anyway.
Needless to say, the stress on my marriage has been huge. My husband tries to be supportive but I can tell he’s under huge strain and thinks I shouldn’t have gotten involved at all. I’m lost and feel very much alone.

We have been friends for a good 5-6 years and dating for more or less half a year with me only being able to see him 5-8 times within that period of our relationship. He and I have had a very healthy friendship and a very emotionally safe relationship, but I am struggling to keep myself afloat in my current situation in my life.
I opened up to him about breaking up because I am unable to dedicate and give the attention to our relationship, as my start up business eats up majority of my time, and simultaneously toxic family financial problems that I am still dealing with.
I felt bad I could barely make time to see him, let alone talk with him, because of so many things I have to get done on a daily basis. He told me he already waited and that he has the right to be mad because I’m depriving him of the love i couldn’t accept. He told me that he’s always been accepting of my flaws and toxic family issues, and that he always tries to help. He got mad that I should have not said yes to a relationship if I’m just gonna hurt him.
He previously opened up about feeling unfulfilled, neglected, and feeling as if it’s barely a relationship, but often tries to be understanding of my situation and waits. He opened up to being upset that I can talk about what happened in my work at the end of the day but barely be available to speak throughout the day. I have been to a massage place several times during my stay in Bangkok and I have developed feelings for the massage therapist, which felt mutual. He is blind and does not speak English well, on my last appointment we communicated a bit with Google translate but my time was up so we could not finish it properly and agreed with him that I will ask for his phone number from the receptionist.
I also invited him to my hotel - he said he would love to come but has an office job the next day early morning. He genuinely seemed tired and he was such a gentle and kind guy. At the reception, the lady did not give me his phone number, only a business card of the place, and stupidly I did not tell her there and then to give him mine. I wrote an email to them later explaining that we wanted to exchange numbers and please either provide me with his number or give him mine. They never replied.

Has anyone else notes the sudden increase in sellers adding an "admin fee" to the sale of a vehicle?
Can anyone explain to me how this is ever perceived as reasonable? Surely if you're selling something your profit is built into the sale price. Your entire business is built around providing this service, therefore you should be pricing your vehicles accordingly, to ensure you cover your costs and add a reasonable profit margin.
It's something I'm seeing across more and more industries, little charges (or not so little in some cases) that add up. Takeaways tacking on a £1 service charge to every order. Cinemas including a 95p booking charge for online tickets.
Can anyone provide justification for it or is it simply another way to increase prices in a way that they hope the public will ignore?

Background: I'm working a double today (3pm + Audit shift) because the auditor called in on my shift and conveniently everyone has plans including the weekend manager (if you count being at a bar "bowling alley" plans lol). I know he's going to a bar because he told me before he left haha so I didn't want to spoil that but I asked him to send me a picture of his score lol good luck with that. Supposedly the managers are supposed to be on call BUT it is payday so I'm not going to push it because I will get OT. Conveniently for me not by request, today was just supposed to be my last day for the week.
Anyway its busy were almost sold out so I turn off the inventory for the night etc. and am going to close up the pool when this story gets me thankful for this subreddit ... people think I'm exaggeration when I tell them what's going on and maybe I am a little bit here and there but WOW. Ya know what I mean.
Our sign reads: Pool hours 10am - 10pm Hot Tub closes at 11pm. That little ambiguity alone makes the maintenance guys think it doesn't have to open at 10am with the pool so sometimes they take their time with the morning chemicals before they open it up. We had a family swimming in the pool on and off throughout the evening and we allow "infants" in a certain area depending on the parents discretion ... I wish that wasn't the case its led to so many issues in itself. We don't allow kids at all into the hot tub that's strictly adults only. Despite our signage that is always an issue too. IF covid was good for anything it was closed pools and a pared down or completely shut down breakfast. Those good? days are over, for us here anyway.
Anyway the family I mentioned was enjoying out pool throughout the day and they took the posted sign about hours to mean the pool was open until 11pm and not 10. So when I came in 15 minutes earlier to get everyone out of the pool the kids started moaning and complaining then the adults started in as well. That's half-expected on any given night so I stood there for a few moments and let them rip then I pointed out our signage and before I finish one of the adults screamed "IT SAYS 11!"
I'm prepared for that too so I say in my loud firm customer service voice "The pool closes at 10pm as posted points to sign and the hot tub is open until 11pm and kids are not allowed in the hot tub points again to sign. I get the normal blowback as the kids start exiting with a few adults and usually the more tipsy adults stick around for the hot tub. I don't mind that it usually calms them down and they get to drink alcohol in cans and surprisingly we get few issues from that in particular. Unless they're with a sports group that's a whole different story.
So the kids leave and a few adults stay behind and a woman with a baby from the same family comes up and asks where our mother's room is. I don't remember the last time someone asked me that question and it takes me a moment to realize what she's asking so I tell her we don't have one and I offer her extra towels if she needs them for her room to nurse there. I honestly don't know if I overstepped a boundary by tacitly suggesting she go to her room to nurse because we don't allow that if asked in our lobby restrooms. Or at least we don't have the facilities for that in our lobby restrooms and we do not suggest that they nurse there. I think people go to their rooms generally to nurse because as I said I can't remember the last time I was asked that.
My response irked her and she began complaining about our pool hours, she doesn't want to be in the pool area if she can't sit in the hot tub with her baby if all the other people (ADULTS keyword) are allowed, etc. I hope she was just being difficult about not being able to take her baby into the hot tub and wouldn't actually do that. The baby starts crying and she said Oh great, now my babies upset and stared at me bug eyed for a few moments. I started to mutter something and she went "tsk tsk" and waved her hand in my face and said "whatever, I'll fix it with your manager tomorrow" and asked me to write my name down on my managers card. I just put an X with a few serifs or something and handed it to her and she took it without looking at it and walked off.
So I was still processing that when the rest of the people left the hot tub. They were pretty cool and relaxed and chatty and said our hot tub and pool were excellent and handed me a sizable tip and left the desk with a few cans of nice IPA. I packed that up quick for later and checked my tips and it was $45 bucks. That lessened the sting a bit of cleaning their mess while I finished shutting down the pool for the night.
