2024.06.01 15:15 SafeSalad Baldur's Gate 3 corrupted my SSD
Word of warning for everyone out there. Put Baldur's Gate 3 on a separate SSD from all other valuable files and games. Yesterday after clocking only 27 hours it corrupted my SSD. My computer wouldn't get past the BIOS booting screen. And when it eventually did I couldn't access my D: drive anymore, BG3 refused to boot and my computer slowed down considerably. After some internet digging and running some diagnostics on my pc, I found the culprit. My SSD was being used at a 100% all the time, even when I wasn't doing anything. The only thing that was on there was BG3. So it must have been connected. I read somewhere here that the game isn't very optimized (yet), as such it writes and reads to and from the disk it's installed on a lot. So I guess using it intensively like I did, sessions of 6-8 hours, may have damaged the disk. Since it didn't contain anything of real importance (apparently the saved games aren't stored in the same location, yay), I decided to reformat the disk and do a reinstall of the game. Right now I'm at the installing phase, I'll keep this post updated to see if I can get the disk to work properly again or if I'll need to replace it. I have a very decent computer and am a bit surprised a game could do this. I hope Larian studios is aware of this issue and brings out a patch to solve this, or a lot of people are going to fry their disks and lose important files.

Hi there, recently bought the MSI Z790 Gaming WiFi motherboard and a 14900k. I knew I had to update the bios downloaded the update etc for it and tried to update it. All went well and the pc rebooted and the red light wasn’t there anymore. I then put the rest of my pc parts into the computer and nothing really happened. The CPU debug light is still on. I have tried to re do the bios update and still nothing so I’m curious to what I can try.
My girlfriend has a 13900k which I know would work as I built hers and she has the same motherboard I have ordered. Would I be able to put her CPU into my motherboard to perform a bios update that way?

So today I went to turn on my pc and every 4 minutes it crashed and gave me the ACPI_BIOS_ERROR message. I’ve tried restarting my pc and uninstalling the most recent update but it still happens, help

 | I got a w540 which unlocked bios with CH341A. But the bios version and ECP are different which creates high GPU temps, debian cannot shut down, ubuntu lost Grub, etc I tried burn bootable image for bios update or update through windows but it just restarted my computer and did nothing. Hello, I bought Asus Dual RX 6700 XT 2 days ago and since then been trying to fix the issue of getting blackscreen in games.
GPU works just fine in benchmarks - AIDA64, Furmark, Unigine Superposition. No artifacts, no black screens, no bsods.
BUT, in games and in their benchmarks I get blackscreen (sometimes immediately, sometimes in an hour, sometimes at the end of the benchmark (RDR2)), max RPM on GPU's fans, sometimes I can hear the game or Youtube video in my headphones.
The only way I can get image back is to cut off power to the pc, wait for a minute and then turn it on. When I'm booted back into the OS, sometimes my gpu driver needs to be reinstalled (I get error 31 and 20-something, not sure). Radeon Adrenaline says that 'AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred'.
I managed to somewhat fix this by reducing gpu core frequency to 1800 MHz. This is the only frequency that allows me to finish benchmark in RDR2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and launch The Long Dark (yes, just to launch it, before downclocking I couldn't even launch the game, I would get black screen immediately).

Hello, I just bought a Legion Slim 5 16APH8 and decided to open it up so I could add the SSD from my old laptop. Problem is, once the laptop boots up, there's this weird sound coming from it, almost like a HDD, and it's making me genuinely concerned. It's an 1TB Kingston M.2 SSD (PCIe) if that matters. Some research on my side and it says it's thanks to a BIOS update, but I'm not exactly sure. Thanks in advance!

I have a B650 Gaming X AX, I updated bios to the latest version which is F30. Upon rebooting I have no display and the gpu fans don't work, all black. Plugged into igpu then uninstalled all the display drivers, rolled back bios, cleared cmos. Nothing worked.

- Updating Bios
- Changing virtual ram size
- Reinstalled Battleeye
- Deleted old Gameinputsvc
- No overclocks
- Disabled game overlays
- Updated GPU drivers
- Ran every benchmark to make sure its not my system.
- Verified game files
- Changed between dx11 and dx12 and adjusted graphics.
Does Anyone Else have this problem or does someone have a fix i just havent tried yet?

Help please! I have the 5500GT on an ASRock B550M-HDV motherboard.
I have an hdmi cable connected to a monitor (I've tried 2 different monitors). The monitor is not detected or activated during POST. Also not recognized by windows 11 Pro. When I try to install latest Radeon video drivers, it says no compatible adapter found (or something like that). I've updated the BIOS in my MB. I also have a GeForce plugged in, but IIRC I tried w/o the GeForce and still no Radeon video.

Hi, I just bought a MAG B550 TOMAHAWK off eBay and was having some stability issues, a broken memory slot, and it seemed to have a BIOS installed for a different board (B550 Gaming Edge WiFi) from 2022. I tried updating the BIOS by downloading the latest one for the Tomahawk onto a USB drive but it didn't detect the file. So I followed the instructions on a post on this sub with a similar issue. Now I have the correct one installed. Stability issues seem to be fixed now, and all RAM slots are now working. But the motherboard model in the BIOS and e.g. hwinfo still says B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI? And I can't seem to get the M.2 slot to use PCIe gen 4.
Anything else I could try? Thanks a ton :)
