Struggling to win with Labyrinth

2024.06.04 14:00 Fun-Water-8471 Struggling to win with Labyrinth

I'm playing Master Duel and really enjoying Labrynth however I'm struggling to win especially against Tearlament, Snake Eye, and Horus decks. Going second is especially tough since I have to wait an extra turn to set everything and any hand trap like Ash just shuts me down. Any ways I can make it more consistent? I have had a lot more luck with decks like Evil Twin/Spright and Plant decks but I'm sick of combo decks.
Here is my deck list
Monster Cards (16)

Extra deck is mostly random cards for pot, only really use Muckraker and Underworld Goddess situationally

Batch updates & recipes
Here are the complete recipes for the batches I am making!
Really excited for these!
Question. One of my strawberries metheglins has this wild separation but the other doesn’t. Normal? Not normal? I made sure to mix it for at least 3 minutes shaking the honey and water and other ingredients so not sure what’s going on there!
Cheers!
Start gravities (from left to right) - 1.120 (is this too high? Too much water?) - 1.110 - 1.102
Could my gravity being that high for the left batch be leading to the weird separation?
Give me your thoughts!

Gap Chart, Tour: 2022 Spring Tour
Set 1 : Turtle in the Clouds , Undermind > Drift While You're Sleeping , Strawberry Letter 23 , Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan > Runaway Jim > Camel Walk > Timber (Jerry the Mule) > Julius , Split Open and Melt
Set 2 : You Enjoy Myself > A Wave of Hope , Bug > Gotta Jibboo > The Howling > Good Times Bad Times
Encore : Maze 1
1 First performance of the slow arrangement.
Jamchart Notes:
Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan - The longest version of STFTFP up to this date stays mostly within the bounds of the song, save the "Odd Couple" tease. Trey's play is soaring in this very strong version of the song. > into "Runaway Jim."
Split Open and Melt - For a song that has become, essentially, a sonic playground, what remains remarkable is that, post lyrics, what emerges is no mere template. Like so many recent iterations, full-band exploration and improvisation is unlike any previous version. More than words, this first-set closer deserves repeated listening.
You Enjoy Myself - Among the slowest versions in Phish history, this version grooves along admirably but really cooks after two mins of vocal jamming, when Trey and Fish begin a second jam segment, which "goes type II" before seguing into "A Wave Of Hope."
A Wave of Hope - Coming on the heels of a noteworthy "YEM" this promising jamming debut brims with positivity as it unfurls over nigh 18 minutes and reaches a gleaming peak.
Maze - Debut of the slow arrangement (a la "Llama"). It remains to be seen if we will be graced with another rendition or if this was a one-time entrapment.
Show Notes:
Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan had an Odd Couple theme tease from Trey. This show included the first performance of the slow arrangement of Maze.

Gap Chart, Tour: 2011 Early Summer Tour
Set 1 : Kill Devil Falls , Guyute , Fuck Your Face > Foam , Ocelot , Rocket in My Pocket , Back on the Train > Guelah Papyrus , Tube > Run Like an Antelope 1
Set 2 : Birds of a Feather , Possum > Steam 2 > Piper -> The Lizards , Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley > Harry Hood > Have Mercy -> Harry Hood > Character Zero
Encore : Slave to the Traffic Light
1 Different band members' names (Including Toph) mentioned before Esquandolas. 2 Debut.
Jamchart Notes:
Back on the Train - Page shines from start to finish.
Possum - The jam includes a number of tempo downshifts, grinding things to a near stop, including during the ending lyrics.
Steam - Debut. A pleasant, relaxed Trey solo.
Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley - Following the vocal jam, the band breaks into a funky groove with a very 2011 sound to it (a bit of the staccato or "plinko" funk, somewhat similar to the 12/28/11 "Cities") that eventually gets "Manteca"-esque before dissolving into a spacey jam. > to "Harry Hood," a highly acclaimed combo among fans.
Show Notes:
This show marked the debut of Steam. Trey teased San-Ho-Zay in Kill Devil Falls. Antelope featured a Streets of Cairo tease from Trey and saying different band members' names (including Toph) before the "Esquandolas" lyric. Sally included Manteca teases, Hood contained Have Mercy and Lizards teases, and Character Zero contained Smoke on the Water teases.

2024.06.04 02:49 Randomman16 Decklist Help - A World Shrouded In Darkness (Ninjas For Casual Play)

My friend and I play every week or so and while we're not tournament-level at all (last time we went to locals was during Tear 0 format and we each won a single round, against non-Tear decks), we follow the ban list. We try to build our decks to be somewhat competitive but mostly only with each other and a couple other friends. Recently I've really gotten into playing Ninjas and want tips on how to make this deck more consistent and even more obnoxious than it already is (and it already kind of is). I have enough copies of each ninja to run any of them at 3 if needed, and I have some generic staples I could add in if those are advisable.
Monsters
3x Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo
3x Tobari The Sky Ninja
3x Mitsu The Insect Ninja (recently clinched a game for me by negating an attempt to fuse away Meizen with Albaz's effect)
2x Green Ninja
1x Baku The Beast Ninja
2x Kagero The Cannon Ninja
2x Jioh The Gravity Ninja
1x Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit (can be run at 3 or removed completely)
1x Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring (can be removed completely, my three-of playset is in another deck)
Spells
3x Ninjitsu Art Notebook of Mystery
1x Ninjitsu Art Tool - Iron Digger (I have a handful of Extra Deck monsters I could turn into Ninjas with this and let them attack directly)
1x Tenchi Kaimei
1x Hidden Village of Ninjitsu Arts
1x Ninjitsu Art Notebook
1x Armor Ninjitsu Art of Alchemy
1x Terraforming
1x Book of Eclipse (flip my opponent's monsters facedown, then tribute with Dancing Leaves)
1x Called By The Grave
Traps
3x Ninjitsu Art of Dancing Leaves
2x Ninjitsu Art of Duplication (use it on Jioh and it can swarm the field for Link plays)
2x Ninjitsu Art of Transformation (can summon Tobari, Mitsu or Baku using any Ninja)
1x Ninjitsu Art of Mirage-Transformation (I usually side this out but I once used it to steal an opponent's DPE and turn it into a Ninja for direct attacks)
2x Ninjitsu Art of Shadow Sealing (I can also side this out, used it to banish the same guy's DPE in another game so it wouldn't come back)
1x There Can Only Be One (Ninjas are a pretty diverse deck so this works pretty well, it just means I can only have one of Meizen, Kagero or Saizo, and I usually go with Meizen since he's the OTK enabler)
Extra Deck
3x Meizen The Battle Ninja (the OTK enabler)
3x Yaguramaru The Armor Ninja
1x Number 2: Ninja Shadow Mosquito (mostly here because it's on-theme, can easily be replaced by is also easily made using Mitsu + Green Ninja and provides some negation)
3x Ninja Grandmaster Saizo
(The following are a bunch of generic good Links I almost never use but should probably get into the habit of summoning more often)
1x I:P Masquerena
1x Knightmare Unicorn
1x Worldsea Dragon Zealantis
1x Topologic Bomber Dragon
1x Underworld Goddess of the Closed World
I was considering Branded Ninjas since I do have a Branded deck I could mix this with but I think playing them pure has merit as well. I know this deck has more potential than what I'm using it for, I just need help tweaking the ratios.

2024.06.04 01:45 SolarstarValke Summer SAS Review (Uh...Short!)

Summer SAS Review (Uh...Short!)
https://preview.redd.it/ux363sz0mf4d1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=744a645db369168e814073005cc9ce345a8c88ec
Yeah, literally, Summer SAS is going to be a SHORT review because I have all the other scents in older packaging and i wasn't going to be pating $80+ to get Freesia so I'm super happy to see it finally. But like previous review posts, I will be talking about the whole Summer 2 release after this so, let's get going!!!!!
  • Freesia (Freesia, Creamy Hyacinth, White Musk) - I never understood why this was sooo sought after and priced so high prior to this release, but Freesia is not really a scent for me. It's like they mixed One in a Million, Moonlight Path, and Dressed in White together and you pretty much get this scent. It's so floral that it comes to a point where I think it just comes off soapy/powdery to me more than anything else. Not the best scent for me and still leaves me wondering why people wanted so much for it.

Summer SAS for me was REALLY disappointing in the fact there's no newness to be found and all the sets are just returning scents (although I will give them some credit for bringing back some OLD scents back to the front).
First set is the Block Party set which actually kicked off with Firecracker Pop (released in Summer 1) but then released 4 more scents to the set; Fruity Sherbet Scoop, Watermelon Lemonade, Strawberry Soda, and Whipped Coconut Milkshake and considering two were Summer SAS scents last year and returning, it's kind of meh and Strawberry Soda had a year-long break but also was a SAS scent back in 2022. Watermelon Lemonade we haven't seen for a couple years (2020?). It's....OK...not I was expecting something like this in Summer 1 to be honest, so seeing that these scents mostly being previous SAS scents is kind of disappointing (also shame that Berry Waffle Cone has this style packaging, but it's only in the 3-wick candle >.> C'mon B&BW bring that back as a body care scent...)
The next set was the old/returning set which consists of Wild Madagascar Vanilla and Tahiti Island Dream which may be the the most intriguing of the bunch since it's been many years since either of them showed up (I think Tahiti was MAYBE online back in early 2021...Winter SAS 2020?). Still, there's nice scents a little switch-up and kind of neat since B&BW have been reaching for some oldies. Paris Amour was also slated to be in this set but for whatever reason was pulled back, heard rumors that it may come in Summer 3, but I'm not holding my breath for it.
Next set was another throwback that features Cucumber Melon, Cherry Blossom, and Freesia and eh? Like at this point, Cucumber Melon should just stay out of sets and just be in the permanent collection because it's just kind of a lazy choice despite it being as nostalgic and popular as it is. Cherry Blossom I remember was around 2021, but it is a nice scent overall (much better than Japanese Cherry Blossom, in my opinion). Freesia like I said was the only scent I didn't own and I still am not the biggest fan of it, just a little too floral for my tastes.
The last set introduced is the Head in the Clouds and it's a returning collection that started last year (2023, Spring 1) with Pastel Skies and Cloud Nine. This SAS collection for this year is just bizarre to me. We have Cotton Candy Clouds, Cloud Nine, and Confetti Daydream and the bizarre thing is that CCC has the same design as Pastel Skies did last year and Confetti Daydream took over Cloud Nine's design, while Cloud Nine has a new purple/orange design. Honestly, who was really lazy this year...like jeeze. The scents themselves are OK I suppose? All three scents showed up last year in different points, so unfortunately they aren't surprising to see sadly.
Yeah, Summer SAS for me is a disappointment with just 1 new scent to get which itself isn't a new scent at all. I'm just bummed there's nothing new out there, though I suppose after Spring 3's Luxurious line, I shouldn't be all that disappointed...

2024.06.03 22:43 EaganTheMighty [CLAIM]The Grand Imperium of Europa The Daughter of Germania Awakens

STAND FIRM, THE EMPIRE IS NOT YET LOST!

A sacred song for a godless people
Denn alles Fleisch, es ist wie Gras… / For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away.
The crack of cannon, the whine of munitions and the roar of vehicles were finally beginning to cease their hellish performance as the clouds began to roll in over the sullied banks of the Traun. Perhaps it was relief from the heat of combat or concealment of what was lost, it mattered little to Sergeant Matej Svoboda. The first drops of rain felt blissful on his grime-caked cheeks and cracked lips. He could finally let go of his breathing and rest in the small defilade he found himself in after the last salvo from those he had once fought alongside. His head flicked back up to the skies as he heard another boom only to be greeted by darkened clouds. The sounds of distant war were now indistinguishable from the storm above. Still, it would be best to stay put until he heard from Division HQ.
He took his time now, languidly reaching for a pouch at his side and pulling out an energy bar to satisfy a hunger he had long forgotten about. Though rest was not yet entirely his to savor for something moved in the corner of his eye, and automatically his unoccupied hand reached for his sidearm. Whatever it was, it was within the river itself and just maybe it was one of his lost boys. He took one last bite and crept up closer to the bank and found the figure partially submerged on a shoal, struggling to get up all while muttering something he could not yet hear.
He sighed as he realized it was not one of his men, instead a form he was all too accustomed to seeing over his 17 years of service, one of the millions of daughters of the Elf King, cast from silicon and steel. Yet all those fearsome accountraments of war he had observed on the killing fields of the Po Valley or the early engagements in the Sudetenland were nowhere to be found on her person, only bound now in torn fatigues and sandy loam. It was now rendered nothing but a pitiful thing, stripped of honor and purpose; furthermore, nature already wished to reclaim what was so mercilessly stripped from her exhausted depths. Still, it was not yet dead and procedures had to be followed.
“Warform, identify yourself,” Matej barked.
“W-where are my sisters, my company?” The android stuttered out a reply, its eyes fixed on a point far beyond the man before it.
“I say again, Warform, identify yourself. Personal number, unit, allegiance?” the man repeated himself, moving a step closer and refining his query.
“My-my sisters, Company Delta, 44th Division Eastern Territorial Defence, I- I must find them…”
“I’m afraid not, machine. You won’t work in your condition. Repairs are necessary,” Matej responded, his HUD flickering on as he searched for the unit.
“No, I must find my sisters. Nothing can separate us, such is the strength of the Alfr,” She said, gaining strength only to be mocked by her own chassis as her arms groaned under strain and her legs failed to rise out of the mud.
“It seems that strength has failed you, you need repairs,” He responded dryly back, frustrated by the stubbornness of the machine.
“Yet you are alone, human. I yield for none but the Aesir’s chosen and the Ljósálfar. You are neither.”
“No but I’m the only chance you have to survive, river’s going to flood soon,” Matej looked off to the mountains on his right, and also to shield his HUD from the android’s glare. He was in luck, as much as he could get these days. A unit stationed in Hungary, it said though only for the last few months. He’d have to take his chances. “And it doesn’t look like you’ll be able to swim.”
The android stared at him for a few moments before turning her head down.
“My company, my sisters, I must find them…” she sighed in defeat.
Matej squatted down and began the slow process of dragging the android out of the mud and back onto dry ground where they both laid underneath the cover of a gnarled tree. The two of them sat in silence before the android broke the quiet. “I am disposable, a tool of war. You did not need to rescue me. Why do so?”
“I suppose it’s because I’m searching for siblings of my own, why should I deprive another of that chance?”
So seid nun geduldig… / Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain

NEWS OPINION MAGAZINE

Lebensraum Europa and the rise of the Donaugebiet

The Imperial Kingdom of Danubia opens its gates to the Alfr masses, but is it at the cost of its own identity once and for all?

BY: Silvan Böhme
Few anticipated another war to come to the shores of Europe after the end of the Gothic War even as tensions remained high between the Empire of Alfheim and the Eastern Union with the emigration of millions of Italians into Yugoslavia and the lands of the Bandung Pact. Even as past records show there was a flurry of diplomatic activity at the higher channels between the Empire and the Bandung Pact via the Italian Social Republic and Second Roman Republic, nothing significant seemed to come of said efforts, at least not to the same extent as when the Danubian Federation formally invited Alfheimr to ACTOR while the Empire of Japan and the INC formed GIGAS in short order.
It was with the sudden disappearance of the Aesir himself, that the decades-long stalemate of Europe folded in on itself. Perhaps even the 0-5 Council and Dederick von Lohengrin himself thought that they would be immune from accidents and thus live forever. However, the world has a way of humbling mankind and snuffing out its brightest stars with a cloudy winter's night. Thus, the nation better prepared for such eventualities and the one who had exploited many flaws in its opponents took action when all others fumbled.
The coronation of Princess Kyoko and her ascension to Aesir shocked the Alfr populace who had long believed their king was not only a god but the only one they'd ever need. It should come as no surprise that upon hearing her bitter words and the weight of a true hyperpower behind them, the nation quickly splintered between the cowed masses not unlike the machine servants that pampered them and the proud few who would not accept subjugation.
The Alfr Civil War brought with it a total transformation of Europe. Not only had the Alfr metropole been now placed under the supervision of GIGAS but the Alfr holdings in America had proclaimed themselves a republic and the 0-5 Council had sided with the Habsburgs of Danubia to restore Alfheimr. Neither side could claim absolute victory over the other and a terse ceasefire was put in place. Now one must look at what became of the latter as it so readily accepted the Aesir's Chosen and many of his late Majesty's true believers.
Before the war began, Danubia maintained a population of around 36 million citizens and nine million synthetic forms to assist in the nation's function. However, now it is 142 million citizens and 61 million androids, and it is nigh impossible to differentiate these many millions of newcomers between French, Dutch or German origin, so total was Dederik's cultural and ethnic "reforms." Over 70% came with nothing but what they could carry within their own hands or cram in a car, depriving them of much in the way of capital. Of course there would not be anywhere near sufficient supply in the labor market to provide for them all and little the taxed Danubian government could do to dole out the generous welfare of the fallen empire they once resided in.
Even the vaunted Lohengrin Reforms with their focus on redesigning the cities of Europe for a more utopian design could not hold up to the grim reality before them. There were few jobs and fewer houses and apartments to contain them all, even as the government encouraged the migration into Slovakia and Hungary rather than just the Austrian Lander and Bohemia. Thus, one of the most prosperous states in the world saw its cities degenerate into a tableau of the Third World. Shantytowns sprawled like tendrils from the core of Vienna, Prague, Pressburg and Budapest and crime began to skyrocket as the residents of these so-called "Kiokoburgen" became ever more desperate. Incidents of hate crimes within Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary surged as the tensions between the native populace and Alfr immigrants broke, blaming each other for their current conditions.
While there was once a tender balance in the religious makeup of Danubia among the Catholics, the irreligious, the Cultists of the Black Sun and even a muslim minority, that all has been broken by the new domination of the Alfr exiles and their dedication to their divine leader. Unconfirmed reports in the east claim that more Slovaks and Hungarians are reacting to this situation by turning to a foreign faith, divorced from the main branches of Christianity and steeped in pagan fantasies. Some of the aforementioned hate crimes were said to be conducted by this group in what could only be described as ritualistic sacrifice to the "Earth Mother." Christians have barred the Alfr from their churches in the rural interior of the empire and refuse to give charity unto them.
Thus the regions of Bohemia and the fertile valley of the Austrian Danube have seen the largest growth in Alfr populations and self-organization. Austrian industry and services in particular have used this overwhelming and desperate labor pool to depress project costs and begin a spree of development from Wels to Pressburg in what is becoming branded as the Danubian answer to the urban conurbation of the Ruhr area or Ruhrgebiet. This could be a strong economic driver for Danubia should the Kingdom invest in it though doing so may also encourage further Alfr economic and cultural dominance and thus further tip the social fabric into chaos.
Is it still Danubia that stands today or has it been lost entirely within the noise of the Alfr masses, condemned to forever become the second Alfheimr?
Aber des Herrn Wort bleibt in Ewigkeit… / But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the Truth is preached unto you.

BREAKING NEWS, the Coronation of Emperor Ferdinand von Habsburg and the Announcement of a new Imperium

Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna
December 15, 2072
The camera opens up on the expansive front courtyard of the palace draped with black and gold regalia of all shapes, sizes and fashions. Crowds occupy all of the available floor space and spread out to the nearby streets and Coudenhove Park. Many excitedly wave Alfr and old Austrian Empire flags in the cold December air as they eagerly wait for the newly crowned Emperor to give his first official speech to his burgeoning people.
The anchors chatter on about the coronation that just occured and how Ferdinand Zvonimir Maria Balthus Keith Michael Otto Antal Bahnam Leonhard von Habsburg-Lothringen (They say only the first two names and surname while the full royal name is flashed on screen) not only was recrowned with the family Crown Jewels as he had done some years prior but also now was invested with the Imperial Regalia of the Holy Roman Emperor for the first time in nearly 300 years.
They go on to discuss how this was followed by an honoring of the 0-5 Council with the new Emperor granting all of them the title of Herrscherin or Sovereign Lady of the Imperium. They all were to be given proper names and elevated to be members of the House of Lohengrin in their Aesir's honor. The Chancellor became Dame Metternich, The Commander became Brynhild, the Lawbringer became Forseti, the Researcher became Mimir, and the Treasurer became Woglinde. The Mother had the grandest ceremony of her sisters as she was to become a living personification of the nation, reborn as Leithania and promised a greater role within the Imperium as one of its Prince-Electors when the time came to choose a new Emperor.
Finally the time came for the Emperor to give his speech and thus he walked out of the Palace and onto a great podium facing the crowds. Closely behind him came his sister, Duchess and General Gloria von Habsburg, his two children, Maria Theresa and Maximilian, his nephew Grand Duke Otto d'Ambrosio and the newly renamed O-5 Council. He beamed a smile as equally bright as the snow on the rooftops and the spotlights cast onto him.
"Men and women of Danubia, our esteemed brethren of Alfheim, lend me your ears. I wish I could tell you that the winter of our discontent was now made glorious summer by this sun of Austria, that the dour clouds fade deep into the ocean, to crown our men's brows with victorious wreaths, cast our bruised arms into monuments and exchange the air alarms for merry music. Yet this winter continues on, granting us only a light reprieve before we must continue our labors to make right the injustices we suffered at the hands of tragedy and the claws of the East."
"We mourn not only the loss of our sons and daughters, but also for many, their god, their guiding light and plunged into the dreary darkness and somber sleep of this Winter. It has shaken us and our faith to its very core, driven many to the plight of poverty and the curse of desperation and driven a great divide among our kin. Our cities have been cast into flames and rendered ashen shadows of their former glory. These are things we can not simply wish away or ignore. We all must strive to rebuild and move beyond what we have lost while never forgetting those bitter notes."
"I may be invested with the power of the Kingdom and now the honor of that once great empire in Europe but even I can not bring back the Black Sun that has now set. However, what is within my family's modest capacity is to be the White Moon in the sky, forever reflecting the glory of our Aesir and providing the guiding light for all citizens of Europa as we make our way through this hard winter and towards our future and the Spring wherein all our efforts will blossom and grant us fruits made sweet with our labor. That will be our time to reclaim what is evidently ours for all to see!"
"Soon Spring will come for Europe and it will be beautiful!"
Die Erlöseten des Herrn werden wiederkommen… / And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Maria Theresia von Habsburg finally finds herself alone after the endless ceremonies of the day, free from the crowds and pomp, and away from any prying eyes. In that way, her room was a blissful island, distanced away from the troubles of the world. She flicked on a desk lamp and let it bathe her desk in its warm, orange glow. The desk was a present from her old mentor, Thoma Okamura, on the eve of her father's appointment as King of Danubia. He said it was made from cherry wood "back home" and that it would serve her just as well as it had served him throughout the years. He called it a wonderful place to think and write down your thoughts, even if the only person that would see them was yourself.
Maria sighed and removed the dark iron circlet from her head and placed it by the lamp. She leaned over to grab a red fountain pen from the closest drawer and opened up the moleskin journal in front of her, flicking ahead to the nearest blank page. She stared at it for a second before remembering all that she felt that day and began writing.
December 15, 2072
This was Father's "most glorious day" as he told me early this evening at the feast. His eyes shone far brighter than I had seen on any other day. I know how much he reaches for the future yet here he was invoking the glory days of our ancestors long since past. He revived traditions that had been laid to rest by Napoleon and the modern world. At first I did not understand, thinking it to be a delusional display of power over the Alfr and perhaps it is to an extent. However, I think I know his true intentions. In a world aflame with uncertainty and loss, it is only natural that we comfort ourselves with the memory of better days, inspiring stories to light a flame in the hearts of listeners. Thus all this pageantry was to raise their spirits. I also recognize that Father sought a more stable system after Aunt Gloria and his petitioning the Aesir for an heir or other means of succession fell on deaf ears and now was the time to remake Alfheim in their image and make it more robust in the process.
I suppose I should be happy for them, to have this day of celebration, yet when I looked out onto the crowd and saw all those pale elven faces, I knew I could not think this to be a true revival of the Habsburg Empire. We rule at the behest of them, it is because they know us to be an island of stability where all else has failed. Isn't it their fault we are in this hellish world to begin with? The former "Great Powers" may have been too weak to stop them but it is ultimately Dederik and his sister, the pretenders, that permanently condemned this world to endless years of tribulation. It is them that wormed their way into my aunt's ear, whispering sweet lies of supremacy and glory she had only dreamed of. She may have killed the vile abomination of the catacombs but she still took on the Aesir and Japan's wishes to slaughter millions of Italians all to carve out her own personal kingdom.
Their supremacy in Europe, while it lasted, convinced her and my father that the best representation of Danubia's loyalty to its new dark masters, was to mutate their own children into pale, elven freaks. I never wished for such a curse. It is perhaps an act of God that some of my ancestor's red hair still makes itself apparent, a small act of defiance against those so immersed in Sin. I too am not clean of sin but every day I strive to appease Christ through good works and what little I can do to spread his ministry among the godless and heathens.
She takes a moment to pause as a new thought flashed into her head. She could not tell if it was from her own bottled indignity or from the Holy Spirit itself as it worked itself into her words. She knew she needed to write it down before it was lost to oblivion.
Despite all that I have done, I am still nothing but a wretched sinner, utterly unworthy of God's Love. A fountain of pollution is deep within my people's nature. We live as winter trees, unprofitable and only fit to be hewn down and burned. We must steep our lives in prayer and hope that God sees fit to show mercy on our corrupted souls. If he deems me so fit I will do what I can to redeem these lost souls and humble them before they are truly ready to receive God's blessing and...
Freude, ewige Freude. / Joy, eternal Joy

Monster High Characters as Perfumes: Part II
Okay so nobody really asked for a part two but the first part was so fun that I really felt like expanding on it! :)
Here is the link to part 1: https://www.reddit.com/MonsterHigh/s/89J2LEXLDQ
Explanations & perfume names below:
Torelei: “Tobacco Vanille” by Tom Ford or “Queen” by Queen Latifah
I just know in my heart she likes a spicy scented perfume - something a little “in your face” w/ some edge. “Tobacco Vanille” has notes of spice, tobacco leaf, and vanilla. “Queen” has notes of bergamot, cognac, & incense. Both have been described as “spiced” fragrances.
Elissabat: “Anna Sui” by Anna Sui
A gothic scent with notes of raspberry, iris, lily-of-the-valley, and tonka bean. A fitting bottle design and a lovely frangrance for this mysterious leading lady!
Spectra: “DKNY Delicious Night” by Donna Karan
“DKNY Delicious Night” is a ghostly scent with notes of blackberry, orchid, iris, incense, and myrhh. A nice spectral-esque perfume for Spectra!
Catty Noir: “Meow!” By Katy Perry or “Cloud” by Ariana Grande
Besides the otherwise obvious presentation, “Meow!” really does fit Catty in my head. The fragrance has notes of pear, gardenia, jasmine, and vanilla! A very refreshing and sweet scent befitting a pop star. Otherwise, I could see “Cloud” by Ariana Grande, with its notes of lavender, pear, whipped cream, & musk.
Venus: “Karma” by Lush
I definitely wanted a very all-natural kind of perfume for Venus & ended up stumbling upon “Karma” by Lush. Karma has notes of orange, lemongrass, pine tree, cinnamon, & patchouli.
Twyla: Twilight Body Spray” by Lush or “Lovely” by SJP
Maybe it’s because I associate lavender with sleep, but Twyla definitely feels like she would enjoy a lavender perfume- it’s just the right amount of comforting. Here we have another Lush perfume with “Twilight”, which contains notes of lavender, tonka, and ylang ylang. “Lovely” is also a soft scent with notes of lavender, rosewood, orchid, and musk.
Robecca: “Opium” by Yves Saint Laurent or “Black Sugar” by Aquolina
Very smoky, steampunk-type fragrances. “Opium” has notes of bergamot, amber, patchouli, and coffee beans. “Black Sugar” has notes of vanilla, leather, oud, incense, and myrrh.
Nefera: “Youth-Dew” by Estée Lauder or “Kyphi” by Olympic Orchids Artisan Perfumes
I can see Cleo & Nefera wearing similar fragrances so consider these interchangeable with Cleo’s perfume. “Youth-Dew” has notes of spices, narcissus, cloves, cinnamon, jasmine, and incense. “Kyphi” has notes of frankincense, myrrh, beeswax, saffron, & juniper.

Oore Wedding Band Arrived!
I hope you’re well! I got engaged last summer and married earlier this Spring but my wedding band finally arrived and I’m so pleased with my stack.
Engagement Ring: 18k gold Cathedral Tulip Setting, Size 5.5, 1.32 carats, VVS2, excellent cut, E color.
Wedding Band: Oore’s Curved Leaf Wedding Band, 18k gold, white diamonds, size 5.75.
Other Wedding Band: Lockley and Ashmore custom Cherry blossom 18k gold ring (I have close ups of the hand engraved cherry blossoms if you want to see!), size 5.5. I wore this for our ceremony, and typically wear this band standalone when I’m going to be busy with my hands.

2024.06.03 18:21 asdfghjjbffgh Realm rework biome mechanics. Compendium of ideas

Wanted to get this out before the June patch drops (ideas for the new beta realm, created mostly for fun but are legitimate suggestions as well)
skip to the headings for individual ideas
As someone who has spent 95% of time in the new beta realm since its release, I am really enjoying the new content. However, while I think that the macroscopic aspects of the new realm (e.g. beacons, larger map, beach-veteran progression) are a welcome success, playing in individual biomes doesn't necessarily feel like a unique new experience, especially after the initial hype of exploring the new biomes.
While the visuals are excellent for non-visually impaired players, the actual gameplay per biome could be improved: the lack of environmental mechanics and other dynamic aspects in the biomes makes it almost feel like a neo-godlands where the enemies are more dangerous and complex, and there are setpieces... and that's it. It would be cool if difficulty could come from more than just "scutosaurus/dragonfly one shot me again" or "ice giant paralyzed me so i had to nexus".
The current new realm is still deep in beta so I have a lot of hope for it, but I really hope that in the future that the various biomes are differentiated more from each other in ways other than just aesthetics, enemies, and the biome UTs.

Terrain and hazards

Many dungeons are given a unique experience in part due to their environments and the dangers/challenges they present, such as the Tomb's quicksand, Ocean Trench's and Cnidarian Reef's breath mechanics, Mad Lab transmogrification, etc. So why not add some unique elements to personalize each of the realm's biomes in a similar manner?
We could have relatively simple mechanics introduced in the form of simple, solid terrain and liquids, which you'll find (minus the Abandoned City) is actually kinda scarce especially in the veteran biomes. There are cool decorations here and there, but that's all they are... decorations. They don't actually do anything. The trees in the Sanguine Forest, for example, are all purely eye candy and not solid objects; water in the realm doesn't slow you like you'd expect water to, and the little "ponds" in the Carboniferous aren't even water, they're just tiles drawn to look like water. It's just weird to have the inconsistency that, for example, some trees are solid objects while others aren't. How does it make sense that these tiny blades of grass are impassable objects while I can pass through and stand inside this tree like it's nothing?
On the other hand, don't go overboard with adding tangibility and function to every little thing. Don't give every biome the density of buildings and walls that the Abandoned City has; the City is already quite a standout due to its layout and the buildings scattered about, and it should stay that way.
We could think simple, mostly just playing with tiles and nothing we haven't already seen in the game before:
  • Different water types that slow you to various degrees; perhaps ocean water could slow you minimally, and Carboniferous water is thick and murky so it slows you more.
  • Breakable terrain, like coral in the Coral Reefs, wooden crates in the Shipwreck Cove, etc.
  • Risen Hell could have rivers of lava in addition to the classic Red Demon lava fissures.
  • Sanguine Forest could have pools and rivers of sickening, maybe bleeding blood.
  • Runic Tundra could have ice tiles, in moderation. Maybe water that inflicts a slow that persists after you exit it
  • Carboniferous could have mud that acts like quicksand (in moderation) as well as large trees in the style of the cherry blossoms in the spring nexus...
And we could also play with much more unique, complex mechanics:
  • The Coral Reefs and Deep Sea Abyss could obviously have breath mechanics like in the Ocean Trench, also a filter to make it look like you're underwater. In the Abyss' case it would be cool to make it a bit darker as well, and make the enemies bioluminescent to compensate, because in its current iteration it doesn't feel much like you're in the deep sea, more like a gray wasteland with enemies that happen to look like deep sea creatures.
  • The Runic Tundra could have campfires scattered around the map that warm a small area, giving players within the healing buff and removing debuffs.
  • The Shipwreck Cove could have cannon turrets
  • The Sanguine Forest could have "living" hazards that spew bombs of saliva, blood, ??? body fluids etc. at players (like in Parasite Chambers boss room)
  • The Carboniferous could feature giant trees that cast shadows, in which bug enemies like brown spiders and mantises could occasionally spawn in by telegraphed markers (like dropping from the trees) (away from bosses) (no dragonflies since those are bullshit) (I might get shit for this idea anyway but oh well)
  • Risen Hell: Single-use (per player) sacrificial altars where you can "sacrifice" max HP for a duration in exchange for increased offense or loot drop boost for the same time

Environment-interacting enemies

Self-explanatory, enemies that have extra mechanics with the environment since I'm 90% sure none of the current ones do. As long as they don't catch anyone off guard by doing too much damage or something I think it would be cool to have enemies that are more unique in that they interact with the environment around them or even with each other.
  • Floral Escape could have little flowers that grow out of the ground when approached (and make them unable to one shot you like the belladonna event red flowers, maybe make them shoot a single low dmg projectile that slows or something)
  • Haunted Hallows could have ent and jack-o-lantern enemies that disguise themselves as spooky trees and pumpkins respectively, and chase players
  • Risen Hell could have lava elementals that rise from lava when approached, and demonic cultists that interact with the sacrificial altars (suggested biome mechanic) to receive buffs
  • Coral Reefs could have bobbit worms that hide themselves under the sand, then emit particles when a player steps over them before they snap out with a paralyzing AoE (think the big worm from Lethal Company)
  • Sanguine Forest could have monsters that spawn in groups and leave behind corpses when they die; their friends can eat the remains of the fallen to heal and buff themselves or vomit a large amount of shots
  • Sprite Forest could have sprites that emerge from portals coming out of thin air a few tiles away from players

Biome events

If you've played Terraria or maybe certain other games, you might be familiar with the concept of events that modify a certain biome or the whole world while active. For example, the Sandstorm in Terraria results in more enemies spawning, makes it more difficult to move, and there's sand getting everywhere.
I think a similar concept applied to the new realm, per biome, would really spice things up every once in a while. Not only would this make each biome even more unique after the biome-specific terrain and hazards, but it would reduce the monotony of playing the same way every time you're in a certain biome.
The idea is that each biome event has a low chance of happening in a realm, and when it does, all instances of the biome in that realm will be modified for as long as the event persists (e.g. if Haunted Hallows has an event, it will happen in all patches of Haunted Hallows). These modifiers will actively make the biomes more dangerous, but also slightly increase the drop rate of desirable items (i.e. biome UTs) while effective.
Some ideas:
  • Runic Tundra - Blizzard: Heavy snowing, passively decreases player speed and dex inside the biome, but this effect is totally mitigated for players near campfires (see above) and for a short time after they leave. Good luck if you have particles set to high.
  • Haunted Hallows - Murderous Flocks: Crows (like the ones in the Sinister Scarecrow fight) are littered randomly throughout the biome, and can drop biome UT
  • Coral Reefs - Tidal Wave: Increased enemy spawn
  • Floral Escape - Full Bloom: Enemies are Armored, do more damage, and sometimes heal in combat
  • Dead Church - Second Coming: Enemies have a chance to spawn revive graves like accursed Shatters enemies (they can also drop loot again)
  • Shipwreck Cove - Mutiny of the Dead: More aggressive enemies (higher aggro range, attack rate, etc.)

Biome activities

Something fun and worthwhile to spend time on inside the realm if you're tired of repetitively killing monsters for loot? Auxiliary gameplay like Glover's fishing spot are a great idea imo (I don't do it though because the rewards are fish shit. pls buff it).
By "activities" I mean a mix of minigames and side quests that can be taken as auxiliary activities while you're doing whatever else in the realm. Partaking in these activities rewards special quest items (like the current fish) which you may or may not return to a special NPC (like Glover). Such an NPC may be in the realm in the activity's resident biome, or even in the Nexus or daily quest/Tinkerer room as a vendor.
  • Runic Tundra - Mining: Mineral deposits show up infrequently, can be killed with a pickaxe (equip to ring slot) drop forge ore and other rock themed items, including quest gems like diamonds and emeralds that can be traded to an NPC.
  • Carboniferous - Fossil Digging: Every now and then, shooting with a shovel (equip to ring slot) will do an AoE that may unearth rewards like loot or amber and fossils that can be traded to an NPC
  • Haunted Hallows - Trick or Treating: Some small shacks around the biome with a witch NPC or something, interacting with them will grant you a "treat" (loot, buffs) or "trick" (debuffs or enemy spawns)
  • Risen Hell - Item Altars: Similar to the old Alchemist NPC where you trade in mid tier quest loot for a reward, maybe summon a boss
  • Abandoned City - Relic Hunting: Talk to an NPC to allow City enemies to drop quest items for turn-in (maybe Treasures could make a comeback?)
  • Shipwreck Cove - Treasure Hunting: Enemies may drop a treasure map consumable that marks a spot on the minimap, standing on that specific spot (only for the user) for some time unearths a treasure chest
  • Floral Escape - Pollination: Commit sex with the alluring blossom.
Maybe don't add one to every single biome because it feels less special to have side quests or the like everywhere you go.
Don't take this too seriously. Tell me what you think

Zhou Jian, CEO of Bluepoch

Part 1

Interviewer: I didn't realise that Reverse: 1999 has been released for a year already. Thinking back about the time before and after last year's public beta, how has your mood changed?

Zhou Jian: The mood has not changed much, but the amount of things I want to do has increased. The game's beta was actually more of an outbreak of team members' accumulated knowledge over the years. The operation of the product is more like a long-lasting war. In addition to ensuring the overall quality of the game, we have to adjust the overall pipeline and set up a talent echelon in order to better respond to market changes. Now that Bluepoch is still a new company, we still need to continue to learn and expand our team to live up to players' expectations as much as possible.

Interviewer: It seems like you guys are always recruiting great talent, and I'm under the impression that Bluepoch's recruitment page updates every once in a while.

Zhou Jian: The team is still in a period of expansion. Although we have expanded from a small team of about 10 people to an enterprise with a reasonable structure, we have a technical department, content department, art department, design department and other R&D departments, as well as global distribution, operations department, etc. Now the team members are growing, but many positions are still in demand, in the external recruitment. On the one hand, the expansion of the team is in line with the needs of the product. Content-oriented games are very complex, the amount of version updates, plot, character, performance, gameplay and can not be overturned in any point, the production capacity requirements are very high. Although the members have a lot of project experience before, the product volume and requirements are not so high, and not all self-research and development like 1999, even the surrounding ecology is done by themselves. On this basis, we also hope to not only provide players with content within the game, but also export it externally, such as PVs, music, merchandise, and offline activities of Reverse: 1999. With fewer people, we can't do any of these things, nor can we do them well.

On the other hand, we also prefer to find as many like-minded people as possible. Bluepoch pays close attention to ‘genes’, and our members are basically fond of movies, literature, dramas, and console games, and continue to draw nutrients from them. 1999's core members, such as copywriters, planners, artists, etc., must have similar perceptions and aesthetics, and be able to understand each other, if we want to ensure a stable quality control. Although we choose a different theme for the release each time, it will all be created within the framework of the larger worldview of 1999. Understanding the aesthetics that 1999 needs is the most crucial.

Interviewer: Such a speed of expansion must have brought a lot of challenges to project management as well.

Zhou Jian: Over the past year, as the team has gradually expanded, we have encountered many problems - how to improve the content pipeline? What to do about distribution? How to plan ahead for several years of content and release rhythms? How to set up the corresponding supporting talent echelon? These problems are not insurmountable, but we are still new in the industry, and we need to learn as much as we can from our predecessors and accumulate experience, so that we can gradually turn them into our own unique development model. This is the kind of growth that every team goes through. If we keep moving forward in the future, there will be new problems, and we can only continue to improve our knowledge. For example, if I were to go back to 4 years ago, the team's content pipeline would have been built earlier and more aggressively, to prevent the emergence of multiple lines of R&D manpower constraints.

Interviewer: The overall quality requirements of 1999 are not low, coupled with the problems of project management, is there a lot of internal pressure?

Zhou Jian: The pressure will definitely be there, after all, everyone is getting more and more rolled up. In fact, the public test to now, we are also after 1 year precipitation to make up for the lessons, only slowly out of the trough period. On the ground, because 1999's content volume is relatively large, the division of labour is also very much, the combing of pipelines is the key to quality control. Pipelines such as performance, music, video, and QC were established along with the R&D process, investing manpower and energy. The guys are all relatively responsible, and with the continued optimisation of the subsequent pipelines, I believe everything will get better and better. But I've also thought about the fact that it's better to roll your own than to end up being outclassed by the competition. On the premise of being able to guarantee production capacity, we will pursue the ultimate in each version, refining team strengths in technology, creativity, co-operation models, pipeline hubs, etc. The standard of content production for each version is even rising.

Interviewer: We can indeed feel that the overall quality of the content is improving. The game's content style after 1.0 has been completely ‘unpredictable’, for example, in the two major releases of 1.4 and 1.9, which were a few months apart, different story lines and endings were designed for four characters, namely 6, Sophia, 210, and 37 at the same time. What's the approximate cost of your content per release in this case?

Zhou Jian: In the year that 1999 was launched, the cost of the game's content output has actually exceeded the team's R&D period over the past three years, and will continue to be invested at this level every year. In order to ensure quality and production capacity, basically the R&D team has also invested a large portion of its members to be responsible for the content pipeline. I think the cost is worth it, on the one hand, the operation of 1999 needs this level of investment, on the other hand, this process also builds the capacity of the future higher requirements of the product needs, now need to do a good job in reserve. Our first year, in addition to the public beta version, updated three versions of the main line, accounting for more than 30% of the version update. In the future, we hope to maintain this high proportion of the mainline update tempo has been advancing. In addition to the main line, the activity plot will also be more connected to the main line. Version stability is very important for content games, users need to play the game in a safe environment. Stable update frequency is a goal set before the beta, and we have a pipeline to control it and continue to optimise the iteration. We've done a good job so far, and I'm proud of the team. The pressure is definitely on, because everyone is getting more and more rolled up hhh~. Instead of being outperformed by the competition, we should roll our own and make better and better versions.
Reverse: 1999 reaching top 5 Weibo hot search on its first anniversary

Part 2

Interviewer: ‘Content is king’ is also a mainstream idea in the game market now, but you guys seem to be pursuing this aspect even more. Why?

Zhou Jian: Content is what we are good at, and it is also the soul of Bluepoch. From the beginning we wanted to focus on making content-oriented games. At the beginning of 2020, we conceived a recent retro scenario for Reverse: 1999 - the 20th century was a time of technological leaps and stars, a time of change where prosperity and decay coexisted, and there was a lot of content worth digging into. At the creative level, the team wanted to do something different with the subject matter and story, and to enhance the immersion of the overall story. The script was decided very quickly, with keywords such as cinematography and the heaviness of the era confirmed, and we started to work around these basic principles. Druvis III was the first character we created, a combination of Jazz Age, Great Depression and occult druidic symbols, which is representative of the game.

Interviewer: You seem to prefer to condense the era or cultural elements into a single character, rather than directly spreading out a grand worldview, and sometimes the campaign version even just tells a small story. Like the 1.6 national style version is just about a folk tale, which is a bit similar to ‘The Peach Blossom Spring’.
Zhou Jian: It's actually quite interesting to use small characters and places to tell an era, for example, the stargazing in India in 1.3, and the Soviet town in 1.8, both of which have a very strong era imprint. And the 1.8 version of the Russian EP eventually did harvest a lot of players' favourite, the video interaction data is very good.

Interviewer: Many second games choose a more grand and intuitive expression of the worldview, but in 1999, it seemed relatively restrained and even a bit ‘maverick’. When creating the game, how should the team grasp the balance between ‘mass’ and ‘niche’?

Zhou Jian: I don't think there's any need to get hung up on the definition of ‘mass’ and ‘niche’. The global market is quite big, and any game that seems to be ‘niche’ can find a user group that likes it. Moreover, if the game quality is well-polished and has a strong character, it will naturally break through the so-called ‘niche’ definition. 1999 also has a considerable proportion of users who are not ‘secondary gamers’ by definition, but are attracted by the game's theme and content. Users are aesthetically inclined, and players can perceive the beauty of good things by themselves.

Interviewer: What is good and beautiful enough?

Zhou Jian: When creating content, we pay more attention to tone, quality and completion efficiency, of which tone is the most core internal standard. As early as the project development stage, we have already reached a consensus - after thinking of an idea, we first ask ourselves, is it interesting enough or not? Is it a chic design that can only be seen in 1999? We hope that every classic concept will eventually make players feel retro and fantastic. It can't be a cliché, but needs to be imbued with a layer of glamour that is unique to the 1999 aesthetic. In terms of game content, it's all about bringing freshness to the storytelling and building on that to create a more recognisable overall visual identity.

Interviewer: There are not many successful cases on the market that can be referred to for this kind of strong stylisation idea. Where did your confidence come from when developing it?

Zhou Jian: Our goal at the beginning was to break the tradition, and then stick to what we like and are good at. Of course, after the launch of the beta, we saw with our own eyes that 1999 has gained so much love from the players from the bottom of their hearts, and we still feel particularly excited and moved. And the emotional experience between people will flow with each other. For example, I personally love Madam Z's character design in Chapter 4 ‘El Oro de los Tigres’ and the Chinese performance of the birthday song at the end, and a lot of secondary works and players‘ feedbacks also show that players are attracted and affected by 1999’s content, and then express their emotions.

Interviewer: In the past year since its launch, 1999's creativity/community culture has also become a landscape, how do you view your user community?

Zhou Jian: We have always been very concerned about user feedback, and we especially like to watch people's creations when we are resting, for example, I myself will brush through the works on Bilibili and other platforms before I go to bed, and many members of the company's internal group will take the initiative to release the works of the players that they think are good. In particular, many of the second creation works also show that players are really infected by the content of 1999, and thus express their own creative emotions, which makes us feel that the product is really loved by everyone with all their hearts.

Interviewer: Has Bluepoch considered more IP spin-off projects?

Zhou Jian: We have been focusing on the development of IP derivatives. In the early stage of R&D, we started to build a development team for IP derivatives and peripherals, with the hope that we could develop some unique gadgets that would be loved by players. At the same time, since the launch, we have successfully completed the linkage cooperation with Pizza Hut, Rosen, Baidu Maps and other brands, and there are many other industry linkage and peripheral cooperation in progress, whether it is self-developed peripherals that we started to prepare before the launch, or all kinds of other industry linkage authorisation, we advocate the concept that we hope to bring players a more interesting and more fun IP derivation experience.

Interviewer: Bluepoch held its first anniversary immersive exhibition [Screening in a Box] in Shanghai this time, and we happened to go there to observe it, and we were really deeply impressed, can we learn about your planning and outlook for offline activities?

Zhou Jian: Offline activities have always been the direction of Bluepoch's strength, and will be the focus of future planning. Offline activities are undoubtedly the key link to maintain players' emotions and show the brand image. When planning offline activities, we always consider the form, theme and experience to be the most important, avoid homogenisation of the content of the activities, and pursue innovation in form and theme. We avoid homogenisation of event content and pursue innovation in form and theme. We design unique and innovative themes for regular events such as Comic Con and Café, to ensure that each event is different from the others. In terms of experience, we pay particular attention to player immersion. For example, when selecting the venue for our anniversary immersive exhibition [Screening in a Box], we immediately fell in love with the 100-year-old classical European-style building, the Shamei Building. The neo-Renaissance style of this building complements the tone of our game, and when players step into it and meet those familiar cinematic scenes in the game, this immersive experience will undoubtedly bring strong emotional resonance to the players. However, this is just a ‘spot screening’ for our user experience upgrade programme. In future large-scale activities, we will continue to deepen the cinematic, narrative, and immersive experience contained in the game itself, and through more innovative elements, whimsical ideas, and detailed designs, players will be able to more deeply feel the world of the game and the charm of the brand in the process of participating in the activities.

Said exhibition in Shanghai

Part 3

Interviewer: It's actually not easy to come through this year of 1999, having stepped on potholes and fallen over them. Do you have feelings about it once in a while?

Zhou Jian: At the beginning of the third beta and public beta, the reputation of 1999 had slipped for a while. At that time, we saw the overwhelming criticism, in fact, quite frustrated, internal morale was also received a blow, I myself is also under great pressure. But now, looking back, it was inevitable. 1999 first exposure, our content features attracted a lot of users' attention, and the performance data of the first few tests was also very good. These intensive positive feedbacks made us neglect many problems of the product at once, such as nurturing, benefits, operation methods and so on. After the problem occurred, we made a list of issues internally - which could be optimised immediately, and which had to be resolved in the meantime. After apologising to the players, we also fed back these adjustment plans directly to the players. At that time, the team's work intensity was very high, but the idea was to complete the commitment to optimize the game as scheduled.

Interviewer: From the way you handled it, your attitude was actually quite sincere.

Zhou Jian: I think it is to admit mistakes, make up for shortcomings, and be honest with users. Although it is not written in the constitution, Bluepoch has always emphasised ‘ideal’ and ‘pragmatic’. I hope we are pragmatic people with ideals. Ideal means that we should retain our original sentiment, entrepreneurial spirit and ambitious goals. Pragmatism means that we should not only talk about ideals, but also be practical and keep things on the ground. Will there be difficulties and problems in the future? I think there will be new problems if we keep moving forward, as long as we keep Bluepoch's style of doing things to solve the problems, and stay pragmatic.

Interviewer: For you, what is the most special thing about 1999? What is the special significance for you personally?

Zhou Jian: Now I feel that time flies, 4 years have passed. In retrospect, these four years of making 1999 were really hard work, and many of the things we did were our first attempts. It was the first time we tried many things. We were trying to figure out the effects of the performance, the lighting and shadow of the battle, the first time we did PV, the first time we did the distribution, the first time we built the peripheral ecosystem, and a lot of things we did as we went along. Thankfully, we persevered and it all paid off in the end. 1999 is a milestone for the company as the project went from 0 to 1.

Interviewer: What kind of philosophy did Bluepoch hold when it was founded? What are your short-term goals and long-term vision?

Zhou Jian: We hope we can create some great works that everyone will remember. We've also thought about waiting until the company gradually grows in the future, and our future vision is to go and make content games that benchmark AAA level quality. But now 1999 is still our core and signature, the team has to operate this work well, continue to output good content, live up to players' expectations, and even be able to keep 1999 going, so that it can become an evergreen tree.

Interviewer: Finally, is there anything you want to say to the players?

Zhou Jian: First of all, I would like to thank the players who have been accompanying us all the way, without your support, we wouldn't have achieved what we have now. Suggestions in the lows and praises in the highs are precious. We will continue to keep creating and refining our strengths to make 1999 and Bluepoch better! Thank you!

2024.06.03 15:07 Normal-Soil8820 Prolonged transplant stress?

I started my plants indoors due to living in Western NY where our spring is very unpredictable until about the end of May. I transplanted everything about two weeks ago, well after our supposed last frost. Unfortunately, after a few nice days we had a few cool nights down into the 40s and heavy rain. Now I am noticing that my squash family plants (winter squash, cucumbers) are still looking somewhat stressed and are putting out blossoms already. All of my brassicas look wonderful, and even the tomatoes are doing good despite some lower temps, but the squash is looking unhappy.
Should I remove the early flowers and just keep going and hope for the best?
