I will be standing as an independent candidate for Chingford & Woodford Green at the General Election on 4 July.
I have reached this decision following hundreds of messages from people in my community, who say there are no options left for them. They are tired of the Tories but now feel they can’t trust Labour.
They feel disenfranchised by Labour’s decision to remove me and feel it would be impossible for the party to win here without a local candidate, rooted in the community, and that such a voice is vitally needed.
I am standing here to win, to beat Iain Duncan Smith and the Conservatives, to finish what we started.
I am standing to give a voice to my community – the community that made me and has put their faith in me.
I grew up here, went to school here and live here now. I was born at Whipps Cross, went to school in Chingford and had my first job at Greggs at Chingford Mount.
I love my community; it is a special place and deserves to be represented by someone who understands its needs and what it values.
It deserves an MP that listens to its problems and works their hardest to find solutions. An MP that understands people’s struggles to make ends meet amid the rising cost of living. An MP that fights for our underfunded local services, for investment in the NHS, supports our local businesses and is a champion for our town centres.
An MP that speaks out against permitting overdevelopment without the infrastructure to support it. That cares for our environment, campaigns for clean air, and against sewage dumps in our rivers.
It’s a community that deserves better than a mansion-dwelling Conservative MP, far removed from the reality of ordinary people’s lives.
I want to use what I have learned, my economic knowledge and my work to eradicate inequality, to argue for a better deal for local people who have suffered so much during 14 years of austerity.
My campaign will be powered by members of our community who have volunteered to support and work with me. It will be positive, forward looking and centred around what Chingford & Woodford Green needs from whoever forms the next Government.
With its recent actions, many local people think Labour has handed a winnable seat to the Conservatives for another five years. I aim to show that there is a progressive alternative to both parties that puts Chingford & Woodford Green first.

Mustafá is waiting for me right outside of the building, on a bench nearby. She is looking at her phone with a rather… intense expression. I’ve found it difficult so far to understand what this woman is thinking or feeling, and yet right now I can see that something is wrong. Deadly wrong too, to really get the mage in such a weird mood.

I carefully take a seat beside her, trying to spy on her phone, but she immediately pushes it in her pocket. Saints damn it, I wasn’t fast enough to really see! Mustafá immediately regains her usual chill, and without even blinking she asks:

“What’s your opinion on civil wars?”

“I, uh…” Well that was a bomb to drop on me all of a sudden! “Some issues, uh, can’t be solved peacefully if one of the sides is unwilling to cooperate or negotiate, so… I-I don’t know, I don’t want to say I like them.”

“Trick question. It doesn’t really matter how you feel about it, they happen anyways.” Mustafá shrugs softly.

“What is that supposed to mean?!” I turn to face my teacher, and she doesn’t answer me. Instead, she snatches the Spell Chart from my hands. “H-Hey!”

“Hmmm. Telekinesis, mending and water control. Basic stuff, inoffensive, hard to weaponize.” She shrugs again. “I guess some things never change.”

“The government wouldn’t want to arm its citizens, that’s basic ruling.” Now I shrug and then check the pamphlet I was given. “Let’s see, my assigned Elysium is at… huh?”

I totally expected them to assign me to Saüle University, and to have to endure the shame of walking around there again, but no? I've been assigned to a random building not too far from my apartment. Apparently it’s one of those ‘cat café’ thingies…

“Have you visited this one?” I ask her, passing her the pamphlet.

“I have not visited this city in decades.” She takes the paper and passes me the piece of cardboard back.

“...You don’t look that much older than me. How old are you?” Honestly, by the way people treat her, she must be either ancient, or the daughter of someone ancient.

“Never.” She points at me with her finger, finally turning to face me. “Never ask me that.”

“Alright then, duly noted!” Defensively I look away, already noticing that I have somehow touched a nerve there. “But anyways… I got my license! Hooray! What now?”

“Now…” Mustafá takes a deep breath. She seems a little distracted, actually, and that’s kind of unnerving. “... Now you go back home. I will get to you in a moment.”

“What?! What was all that about having a good breakfast a-and the talk we just had?!” I can’t help but feel a little disappointed.

“You should always have a good breakfast, and we haven’t finished speaking about that.” Mustafá gets right up, cleaning her hands and passing me Gato’s Guide back. “Talk to your therapist and schedule an appointment. Read a few pages of Gato’s book. Practice the runes you just got, writing them on paper and then pronouncing them. Do not try unwritten sorcery on these, you hear me?”

“B-But why not?” I try to protest.

“You hear me?” Again she looks me straight in the eye.

“...Y-Yes ma’am.” Gulp.

“Good. Now, wait for me at home.” Without another word, Mustafá claps her hands. In the blink of an eye, she vanishes.

… It’s the strangest thing, loneliness doesn’t bother me that much anymore, except in the moments after I get company. Maybe I can only really feel absence after experiencing the thing I am yearning for…? Or maybe my body just eventually forgets again what it is like to be in the presence of others. Of people who actually care.

With a heavy huff, I stretch a little bit and after some consideration, I decide to walk all the way home. Maybe the extra air in my brain will actually help me think.


Mustafá arrived at her room as soon as she could, mere seconds after disappearing from Tav’s view. She walked to take Universe Gamma’s feeder and hurriedly filled it with dried up insects, lettuce, nuts and fruits from the fridge. For a moment, the thought that her minifridge was often filled with more crab food than actual people food came to her mind. Truth was, while she advocated good habits for Tav’s sake, she never really took care of her own body… after all, she didn’t need to.

No matter how much hunger would cramp her stomach, she knew it wouldn’t hurt her. She could ignore it as long as it didn’t start affecting her faculties.

But now wasn’t the time to think of that.

After fulfilling her obligations to Plato and Socrates, the old alchemist jumped to her computer and checked on ‘The Belltower’.

The news were all over the place, and for the first time in a long time, the Brotherhood hadn’t even bothered to censor it: the Emperor of Bisontia, along with at least ten others, had been murdered. And the main theory right now was magical foul play. Of course, people were panicking. This was the closest the secret had come to being broken in a massive incident since the days before the Great Empires.

Ignoring the comments for now, the alchemist began checking each picture posted about the subject. They would never post pictures of the deceased, so she had no real way to analyze the situation, but she could glean a few hints from the pictures of the scene. Apparently, this all had happened in the bathroom of the Imperial Palace, or well, it had started there. Then it spread back into the Great Dining room.

The photographs showed charred parts of the building, blood staining the beautiful marble of the bathroom, burnt furniture and broken tables… it had been a violent and merciless affair.

The mage took a deep breath. She wouldn’t learn anything from afar… but she really, really didn’t want to get involved. Not now that the Brotherhood was taking care of the situation. They would start asking for favours if she did.

So, there was only one person she could call… and she hated him almost as much as she hated Giovanni.

Without any other choice, she picked up her phone and called Blanco’s number.

He picked up instantly. Of course he did, he had probably been spying on her all this time.

“Took you long enough~.” Said the vampire. “G already got his info-bundle from me. He’s ahead again~!”

“Shut up.” The alchemist had to bite her lower lip down to not yell. Keep composed… “Just, tell me how much and I’ll make a deposit.”

“I am sending the amount riiiiight…” Blanco had this whiney, annoying voice even when he was happy. Mustafá despised it. “... Now!”

A message rang on the computer and Mustafá stared at it for a moment. That was a lot of zeroes.

“You’re an abusive son of a whore.” She sighed. This would dent her apparently unending resources quite a bit.

“It’s gonna be war out there, baby! Bloodbags are not cheap and I am not hunting ever again.” The vampire was far too happy to scam his so-called ‘best friends’.

With another, deeper and even more defeated sigh, the mage accepted the transaction and deposited the money on one of Blanco’s many offshore accounts… Soon after, she received the grim, disturbing pictures of the dirty deed done in Great Bisontia.

Bodies had been twisted, dismembered, cut in twain. Bite marks covered their skins, sometimes charring it to a crisp black, sometimes leaving it nice and raw. The wild nature of the attack, the desperate claw marks left on the walls, everything indicated that this was not a mere terrorist attack. This was not a bombing, not a shootout.

This had been a beast. A magical creature.

That conclusion should be enough to appease the people at Tranquility Castle, “should” being the operative word there. The far-right members of the Council were just waiting for a reason to squash the Resistance and their screams for more magical freedom. The Sleeper authorities also wouldn’t shut up, demanding explanations and (worst of all) compensations for this. Favors would be traded, unscrupulous demands would be made.

And if the communications failed at this stage: War.

Mustafá couldn’t help but wonder if this was somehow related to the coming of the End of Humanity.

People assumed it would be an instant thing, so once the year actually came, they just stopped caring about the prophecies… Sleepers and old Mages could be so alike sometimes, the alchemist thought.

Checking through the pictures of all the victims, she felt her stomach become smaller and smaller. Her emotions might have been dulled, but one never truly got “used” to seeing massacres and atrocities such as these. People coped in many different ways, yes, but it is impossible to become completely disconnected to it… at least, it was impossible without incurring some concerning consequences for the mind and the soul.

Eventually, the pressure grew too high on her, and Mustafá had to stop. She took deep breaths, closed her eyes and tried to meditate on those images rather than letting them just sear themselves in her subconscious without explanation.

It had to have been a magical creature. Mages didn't know this sort of violent, animalistic magic anymore… but, what creature? The beasts that roamed Jericho had either gone extinct or disappeared without leaving a trace after the First Sacrifice. All that was left were spirits, pixies and jinxes of many types, but none strong enough to do this sort of damage.

The answer was becoming clearer and clearer by the second.

“So?” Blanco said, still waiting on the line. “What do you think?”

“Dragon.” She finally worked up the courage to say it.

“Yeah, G said the same thing. He also said it was impossible.” The vampire didn’t seem really impressed, one way or another.

“That’s because it should be. But I will have to look into it…”

Mustafá hung up without warning, throwing her phone away and just laying on her bed for a moment, staring into the ceiling.

Problems kept accumulating, one on top of the other… for the first time in a while, she didn’t feel on top of the situation.

For the first time in a while.. she may need to visit Palien.


It didn’t take even five streets for me to absolutely regret my choice of walking home. Not only are streets gross, full of people and noise, it is also tiresome to walk through them! My depression soon gives way to a generalized feeling of discomfort and annoyance. Worst part? Every time I am tempted to just say ‘screw this, I’m taking a taxi’, my head laughs at me!

“Look at you, winded after walking a few streets! Oh how embarrassing, please, stop talking to me right now.”

And that is just way too much for me to take. I immediately take a deeper breath and continue walking, purely out of spite for myself.

For a moment I consider reading, but as I’ve already established, the self-consciousness would kill me if I even tried such a pretentious move! So, I am trapped! My music can only protect me so much from the noises of the entire world, the construction workers, the yelling drivers, the fact that I am being seen and perceived by everyone right this instant…

Eventually, after a tortuous way, I manage to get back to my apartment building. I wave at the guard as I walk right back into the elevator and sigh, finally getting a short moment to rest and recover my breath.

Saints above, I really am out of shape aren’t I?

“Yeah.”

“Just a little.”

I walk out of the elevator and trudge my way back into the house, straight to the computer and my comfy, soft, no-longer-reclining chair. I take a seat, closing my eyes and just letting the comfort set in, before I open my computer and go back to check the forum. It has been my main occupation these days, really.

There are a few new posts on the Sleeper threads, no new translation efforts… Everything seems chill in the world.

Until suddenly, I get a message. From Vito? Huh…he’s up early for a Saturday.

So we’ve been dating for a few months, and moved in together just for the summer due to having internships in the same city. Anyway, 3 weeks into living together, she decides to take a trip across the country to visit old friends that she hasn’t seen in a few years. One friend is a guy she texts on a regular basis, who is straight but has a girlfriend. Another friend is a gay man also in a relationship. So she’s reassured me there isn’t anything to worry about. Still, this group has a reputation for getting very drunk and stoned together in the past—they’ve even done high dose mushroom trips together, etc.
Now I’m pretty open minded so even though I feel a little uncomfortable about her heading out there by herself for 4 days to hang out with this less than reliable bunch of party-goers, I told her it’s all good and to have fun.
Fast forward to the day of the trip, I’m at work and send her a “safe flight,” message, which she acknowledges merely with a like. Then, her plane lands hours later but she doesn’t text me. I had an office event in the evening so I didn’t reach out to her. I finally get home and I’m wondering if she’s made it out there okay, whether her Air BnB situation is settled, and I open my phone and kind of randomly scroll through a few Instagram stories.
Then the first story I see is one she made, and it’s literally a picture of the one straight guy in her group (the one with the “girlfriend”) and he’s holding two drinks, and she wrote some caption like “drink up, drink up.” There’s no else in the picture. So from my end all I understand is that this girl landed, avoided sending me any messages to confirm her safety/arrival, and then thinks it’s cool to just post a story of her drinking one on one with this dude that I barely know.
I got quite angry, reached out to her. We had a call, she apologized but also said I was maybe being too controlling. Am I the asshole here or does she need to be more cognizant of how her behavior impacts me? I trust her to drink with that dude, I just wished she would have handled her communications better with me, so that that wasn’t the first thing I saw after her arrival. Honestly still kinda steamed at this point but would appreciate knowing if I’m overreacting.

Hello, I try implement firebase in my demo project using expo in their libraries, and I can't use the project because I have the same error always, Error permissions:

quick backstory, my brother adopted this dog several years ago from a clinic through a friend who worked there. all the while knowing my parents aren’t quite fond of them. I was around 13 then, no financial responsibility or responsibility at all. Except the dog was fully directly placed onto my hands as a result of my love for animals. I love animals so much, don’t get me wrong- but that didn’t mean i had the capabilities to take care of one at the time. Throughout the years that we’ve had the dog, he’s always just been outside chained up to a dog house. I was not allowed outside house unless I had supervision up until I was around 18. But the past two years, I have tried my best taking him out, giving him basically the life he’s always deserved since I can now drive and make a bit of money from a small job.
But I leave to college soon, and I’m going to dorm, miles away, and unfortunately, as i’ve said before- my family doesn’t like dogs. They refuse to let him in the house, don’t take him to the vet, don’t take him on walks or even feed him. I needed to rehome him as soon as I realized I was going to be far when I transfer to University. So, for the past few months to almost a year, i’ve been trying to do everything in my power to rehome him.
The area I live in has a huge issue with shelter capacity, stray dogs and abandoned dogs due to shelter capacities. I have posted on nextdoor, posted on social media, asked mutuals, friends&family, posted on facebook, messaged and emailed rescues, called no kill shelters almost everyday for the past few months-but everyone is full or unwilling to take a medium -large sized dog that’s old. I honestly really want him to live a better life, and at least have a chance. But I know that if I leave him here, my family will probably kick him out or neglect him when I’m gone. I find it better that he has a chance than none.
My last option was a kill shelter, and they had space. I feel immense guilt but I have no other option. He’ll be taken in two weeks from now, and I’m still searching for last hope.

This happened back in March when I used to work at a fast food place.
St. Patrick’s Day was around the corner and our boss told us that on the day of the week before and the day of, we could wear green shirts, pants, hats, etc. Aside from that, for the rest of the month, we could wear small green things, like buttons or bowties. I asked her if green eye shadow would be acceptable and she said yes.
After she left, I went to Dollar Tree while I was on break and bought an eye shadow palette. When I came back, I told my assistant manager and shift supervisor (her name was Hannah) that I got an eye shadow palette and explained to them that the boss said I could wear green eye shadow in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and so that’s what I was gonna do. They both were like, “okay, cool.”
I went to the break room in the back and started putting it on. Then I discovered that I had to clock back in, so I did, and from there, I tried doing my job as quickly and efficiently as possible so that way, I could create a dead spot for myself to go back there and finish. I was hurrying and scurrying, here and there. Hannah noticed this and, pulling a 180, told me in front of everyone that I wasn’t going to the back to go put on makeup.
“Well, I have to finish,” I said. “It’s not done.”
“No, you’re not putting it on. Go take it off.”
“No, I don’t want to, and I shouldn’t have to. The boss told me that I could do this, and besides, what harm is it doing to you?”
“I feel like you’re only doing this to get a rise out of me. You’ll wear it here, but you wouldn’t wear it at a parts store.” (I told her that I had applied for one before this incident.)
Once again, I told her that I was doing this because the boss said we could wear small green things and that green eye shadow counts as such. I wasn’t doing this to get a rise out of her or anybody. Also, I said that not every workplace will allow to dress up for holidays, because every place has different rules.

Her response? “Go put your makeup on, Taylor.” I said thank you and went to the break room to finish at last. While I was doing that, I could hear her say to everyone else, “We’re gonna end up on Facebook because of him.” Also, I could’ve heard wrong, so I’m 100% sure, but I think she called me a transphobic slur.

I’m a 22-year-old man. This happened back in March when I used to work at a fast food place.
St. Patrick’s Day was around the corner and our boss told us that on the day of the week before and the day of, we could wear green shirts, pants, hats, etc. Aside from that, for the rest of the month, we could wear small green things, like buttons or bowties. I asked her if green eye shadow would be acceptable and she said yes.
After she left, I went to Dollar Tree while I was on break and bought an eye shadow palette. When I came back, I told my assistant manager and shift supervisor (her name was Hannah) that I got an eye shadow palette and explained to them that the boss said I could wear green eye shadow in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and so that’s what I was gonna do. They both were like, “okay, cool.”
I went to the break room in the back and started putting it on. Then I discovered that I had to clock back in, so I did, and from there, I tried doing my job as quickly and efficiently as possible so that way, I could create a dead spot for myself to go back there and finish. I was hurrying and scurrying, here and there. Hannah noticed this and, pulling a 180, told me in front of everyone that I wasn’t going to the back to go put on makeup.
“Well, I have to finish,” I said. “It’s not done.”
“No, you’re not putting it on. Go take it off.”
“No, I don’t want to, and I shouldn’t have to. The boss told me that I could do this, and besides, what harm is it doing to you?”
“I feel like you’re only doing this to get a rise out of me. You’ll wear it here, but you wouldn’t wear it at a parts store.” (I told her that I had applied for one before this incident.)
Once again, I told her that I was doing this because the boss said we could wear small green things and that green eye shadow counts as such. I wasn’t doing this to get a rise out of her or anybody. Also, I said that not every workplace will allow to dress up for holidays, because every place has different rules.

💸 UN sounds alarm on global debt level
*📝 Our report: *Global public debt hit a whopping $97 trillion last year, the UN reported, with developing countries owing about a third of that — crimping their ability to pay for basic government services like health care, education and climate action. In its report entitled “A World of Debt," the UN Trade and Development agency, formerly known as UNCTAD, said high interest payments are outstripping growth in essential public spending.
🔑 Key points:

• “Developing countries must not be forced to choose between servicing their debt or serving their people,” the report said. “The international financial architecture must change to ensure a prosperous future for both people and the planet.”
• In the developing world, which is home to 3.3 billion people, 1 in 3 countries spends more on paying interest than on programs in “critical areas for human development” such as health care, education and climate action.
• The United States, according to the report, led the world with more than $33 trillion in public debt last year, trailed by China at nearly $15 trillion and Japan at $10.6 trillion. Egypt, Mexico, Brazil and India joined China among developing countries with the most public debt.

*💡 So what: *The implications of global public debt reaching a record high of $97 trillion are multifaceted, affecting economic stability and development, particularly in developing countries which owe about one-third of this debt. High debt levels strain government budgets, diverting resources from essential services like healthcare and education, and increasing the risk of default, which can destabilize global financial markets. Additionally, high debt can impact sovereign credit ratings, raising borrowing costs and creating a cycle of higher debt and interest payments, posing significant ethical concerns about intergenerational equity and the sustainability of current fiscal policies.
🖥️ Microsoft makes moves to resolve EU antitrust concerns
WHAT: Microsoft's President Brad Smith hinted that the company plans more moves to settle the EU's antitrust probe into Teams, despite likely facing charges. The European Commission launched an investigation into Microsoft's tying of Office and Teams last year, following a 2020 complaint by Salesforce-owned Slack, a competing workspace messaging app.
WHY: Microsoft in April said it would sell its chat and video app Teams separately from its Office product globally, months after it unbundled the two products in Europe in a bid to avert a possible EU antitrust fine.
📺 Canada ramps up tax on online streaming services
WHAT: Canada's telecoms regulator has decreed that major streaming services must chip in 5% of their Canadian earnings to bolster the domestic broadcasting system. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) said the money would be used to boost funding for local and aboriginal broadcasting. The measure would raise roughly C$200 million ($146 million) a year, they said.
WHY: The measure was introduced under the auspices of a law passed last year designed to make sure that firms like Netflix and Alphabet Inc-owned YouTube make more of a contribution to Canadian culture.
🤖 Tech company spends big on AI startups
WHAT: Cisco Systems is betting a cool $1 billion on startups crafting "secure and reliable" AI services, aiming to level up its game in the AI arena. “AI is reshaping every industry across the globe at an unprecedented pace. Some of the investments that we’re going to make will be followed by some partnership agreements” Cisco’s Chief Strategy Officer Mark Patterson said in an interview.
WHY: Like other Silicon Valley mainstays, Cisco is looking for ways to tap into the frenzy of interest in AI computing. It’s already incorporated the software into some products, including its well-known Webex conferencing service, and has announced a tie-up with Nvidia to sell products based on that company’s chips.

I get it, it’s good to verify before so I took a selfie (I hate selfies, they make me feel ugly) and I thought writing the date would be chill. He asked why I wrote the date and I’m like “idk I just thought you wanted to know it was taken now”. He sent a mirror pic and I’m jokingly like “where’s your date 👀 “ and right as I sent “I’m jk” his message came in first saying “I got all dressed up.. I think I'll pass tho man. I'm not gonna send a pic with a date on it. Not a serial killer here. Have a goodnight bro”. I said “ahhhh no I was only joking, sorry to make you feel bad” and he responds “It applies to all the past stuff man. Gnite”. Did he just think my selfie was ugly or was he up to something? Is it wrong to send a pic with the date on it? Is it wrong for not having snap and not wanting to add a rando on my personal insta?
