2024.05.14 17:52 theflyhitterss Blank Check covered films that played at Cannes! (2024 Update)

Another edition of Cannes Film Festival is starting today, premiering tons of new films that certainly will dominate the minds and hearts of cinephiles around the world for the next months and years - and of course, discurse in this community...
So, to celebrate this magical time, as I did last year I compiled of list for movies covered by the Blank Check gang that had their world premiere or European premire at the Croisette. As you will see, its a fascinating bunch of films.
Quick notes:
  1. The list it's most comprised of main feed episodes & director filmographies, with an exception for bonus episodes on Patreon, didn't count the franchises on Special Features (so no Oceans 13 here);
  2. I only counted movies which premiered at Cannes at the time of release, discounted retrospective screenings and the Cannes Classics sidebar, so that's why Carpenter, Kubrick & Keaton don't have films here.
So, here's the list:

George Lucas:
Attack of the Clones (2002, out of the competition)
Revenge of the Sith (2005, out of competition)

Lily & Lana Wachowski:
The Matrix Reloaded (2003, out of competition)

James Cameron:
Ghosts of the Abyss (2003, out of competition)

Steven Spielberg (Post 1st Oscar Era):
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull (2008, out of competition)
The BFG (2016, out of competition)

Paul Verhoeven (Hollywood Years & French-Language Movies):
Basic Instinct (1992, in competition)
Elle (2016, in competition)
Benedetta (2021, in competition)

Ang Lee:
Eat Drink Man Woman (1994, Directors' Fortnight)
The Ice Storm (1997, in competition. James Schamus won the award for Best Screenplay)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000, out of competition)
Taking Woodstock (2009, in competition)

Tim Burton:
Ed Wood (1995, in competition)

Michael Mann:
Thief (1981, in competition)

Jonathan Demme:
Something Wild (1987, out of competition)

George Miller:
Mad Max Fury Road (2015, out of competition)
Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022, out of competition)
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024, out of competition)

John Musker & Ron Clements:
The Little Mermaid (1990, out of competition)

John Singleton:
Boyz N' the Hood (1991, Un Certain Regard)

Jane Campion:
Two Friends (1986, Un Certain Regard)
Sweetie (1989, in competition)
The Piano (1993, in competition. Campion won the Palm D’or, tied with Chen Kaige for Farewell My Concubine – and the 1st movie Blank Check covered to do so)
Bright Star (2009, in competition)
Top of the Lake: China Girl (2017, out of competition)

Sam Raimi:
(Worth noting that The Evil Dead had his notorious exibition in the 1982 festival that sealed the fame the movie got, but since it wasn’t programmed in none of the sidebars and probably was a market screening I separated from the list)
The Quick and the Dead (1995, out of competition – closing film)
Drag Me to Hell (2009, out of competition)

Bob Fosse:
Sweet Charity (1969, out of competition – opening film)
Lenny (1975, in competition. Valerie Perrine won the award for Best Actress)
All That Jazz (1980, in competition. Fosse won the Palm d’or, tied with Kurosawa for Kagemusha. 2nd Palme D'or winner covered by Blank Check)

Danny Boyle:
(Shallow Grave was screened at the 1994 festival, but it was a market session, outside the oficial programming)
Trainspotting (1996, out of competition)

Park Chan-Wook:
Oldboy (2004, in competition. Park won the Gran Prix)
Thrist (2009, in competition. Park won the Jury Prize, tied with Andrea Arnold for Fish Tank)
The Handmaiden (2016, in competition)
Decision to Leave (2022, in competition. Park won the award for Best Direction)

David Fincher:
Zodiac (2007, in competition)

David Lynch:
Wild at Heart (1990, in competition. Lynch won the Palme D’or. 3rd Palme D’or Winner covered by Blank Check!)
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992, in competition)
The Straight Story (1999, in competition)
Mulholland Drive (2001, in competition. Lynch won the award for Best Direction, tied with the Coen Brothers for The Man Who Wasn’t There)
Twin Peaks: The Return (2017, out of competition)

Odd ones, One-offs:
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018, out of competition)

Of course, if the reference at the Millenium Actress episode will pan out, Horizon: An American Saga (premiering out of competition at this year festival) could be a future episode. If it's not a jest from the one and only Griffin Newman...

2024.05.14 08:50 Heckin__hails Need criticism

Now this is the first time I’ve tried to make a jjk oc AND have a cursed technique but if I’m being honest I really wanted a character with abilities to summon shikigami based on the game Okami and the brush gods in said game
Cursed technique: Celestial Body
The user has the ability to summon 12 shikigami based on the Asian zodiac signs. The user is only able to summon one at a time and each shikigami has its own unique abilities
(Upon “death” the shikigami do not die, however it does take a long time for them to regain enough strength / energy to be summoned, so if one falls during battle it will be unusable the rest of that day)
  1. Dragon: (ability: rejuvenation) the user can summon a large dragon. Upon summoning the user gets the ability to heal both themself and others as long as the shikigami is by their side. To heal the user must place a hand into the dragon as the shikigami transfers its energy into the injured. This shikigami takes the most as its both the biggest and in order to actually heal you have to use both your energy and the energy of the shikigami
  2. Rat: (ability: slash) can summons one or multiple rats. Due to this shikigamis small size they can be used in stealth missions as they can remain undetected as on their own they give off little cursed energy. While having multiple out the shikigami cannot use its ability but having just one gives the ability slash, the small Rodent of summoning its own divine weapon, a large sword capable of slashing through most everything. The shikigami is only able to use this 3 times in a row, before it runs out of energy needed to wield the sword
  3. Boar: (ability: bomb) summons a large boar capable of stampeding through groups of enemies. Its skin is the toughest out of the shikigami and as such can take more hits. The boar is able to spew a flint like substance from its nose that it can then ignite by scraping its hoofs to create sparks this creating explosives
  4. Rabbit: (ability: crescent) this shikigami gets more powerful depending on what stage the moon is, full being this shikigamis most powerful. The user is only able to summon one but when summoned the rabbit (which looks like a larger wild hare) is able to thump its foot to get the enemies attention (and locking it into its ability) and based on the moons phase the rabbit will make illusions to trick opponents. That can be a worst fear, a lost love, etc.
  5. Snake: (ability: water manipulation) upon summoning the snake the user can either make it large or small depending on what’s needed. The snake has the ability to expel water from its mouth in both fast jets and large bursts and manipulate as needed. The snake does have the ability to breathe underwater as well.
  6. Horse: (ability: gale) just like a normal horse this shikigami can be used as a means for transportation. Its ability allows it to create gusts of wind. When running it can create a tornado that it can then send into enemies. On command it can create smaller gusts as needed. If using as transportation every time the horses hoofs hit the ground it can let out a small burst of air causing them to run at increased speeds
  7. Roostephoenix/cockatrice: (ability: flame) a medium sized shikigami with the ability to produce flames from its feathers and breathe fire. When flying it can ignite itself at will and burn through its enemy. This shikigami however is weak to water and if its feathers get wet it can no longer ignite itself and loses the ability to fly.
  8. Sheep: (ability: fog) when this shikigami is summoned it appears drunk, stumbling around and seemingly can’t keep upright. The sheep has a halter with a side belt holding a large flask, when the sheep drinks from it, it can then spew from its mouth a thick fog that can disorient and confuse enemies. The longer someone is in this fog the more disoriented they become, unfortunately this goes for the user as well
  9. Cat: (ability: catwalk) the cat is the size of a normal house cat. This shikigami stands out as theirs nothing particularly special other then its ability which grants it and the user the ability to walk up any surface despite the angle and terrain. The cat has to be touching the user for them to be able to use this ability as well
  10. Tiger: (ability: lightning) normal sized tiger with a large bow on its back. Using its tail the shikigami is able to pull the bow back and unleash torrents of lightning. One of the more aggressive shikigami and is always looking for a fight
  11. Ox: (ability: freeze) a large ox with the ability over ice. From its two horns it can unleash a beam of straight ice onto foes. And from its nose it can express a thinner frost still capable of freezing anything around.
  12. Monkey: (ability: nature) the user is able to summon 1 - 3 monkeys each capable of using an ability to summon vines that can be used for both transport and attacking.
Domain Expansion: Heavenly Mother (Still working on a better name)
The domain upon activation looks like a forest at dusk with an empty clearing full of flowers. In the sky is the constellation of all 12 of the shikigami are visible. In the domain they can all be called down from the sky to attack or they can all be combined into one to form a large wolf capable of all the shikigamis abilities. The wolf’s physical form is stronger than all of the shikigami individually but as separate entities it gives more opportunity’s for getting a hit
I’m not sure if this is to OP or not as I was going to make the OC physically weak and a better long range fighter using weapons like a bow or even a whip idk that part yet lmao

2024.05.12 06:23 Equivalent_Driver576 A comment too detailed to fit about the dragons of my world!

Thank you u/queilef for inspiring me to write this and I'm sorry It didn't fit in the comments!
The world of Kándōs holds a myriad of dragons. Yes, I am using this post as an excuse to way overshare my worldbuilding! They also play a variety of roles separately though as we go down the list, they become more involved with mortal lives. I hope to get some feedback on this probably over-detailed and repetitive word vomit of a comment. This is all set in a high fantasy world filled to the brim with gods and mystical beings that has ended and reseted countless times...

Chromatic/Dragon Godesses:

There are six chromatic dragons. All are worshipped just as the gods though the following is much more cultish than most organized religions. I suppose they are sorts of false gods in a sense. Yes, they are powerful, but they have no actual control over any domain. The Chromatic Dragons are:
Rubreum: The Red Dragon Goddess of Fire.
Caeritas: The Blue Dragon Goddess of Water
Viragdus: The Green Dragon Goddess of Earth
Flavius: The Yellow Dragon Goddess of Air
Alentum: The White Dragon Goddess of Life (Also the mother of the 12 seals)
Lageron: The Black Dragon Goddess of Death

The 12 Dragon Seals:

The Dragon Seals act as embodiments for the 12 seals of Akindu's(God of Destruction/Rebirth) prison. They are very secluded and mostly stay away from mortals in their pocket dimensions. They are near Demon power level and preside over something or other
Adeleth, The Serpent: First-born daughter of Alentum. Taking the form of (you'll never guess) a serpent with wings. She only has one eye though. She cares for the souls of extinct species in her dimension. Destined to be killed by Brother Halonus. (Brothers are mortals gifted with immense power and are physically immortal although they have normal lifespans) On the first day of The Last Summer. Represents the equivalent of the snake zodiac and the Aquarius star sign.
Anu, The Guardian: Second-born and First Son of Alentum. Takes the form of a bulky and wingless dragon with bovine proportions. He has massive horns that shape the Dunes of Time while protecting the Oasis City. Destined to be killed by Brother Yu-Choulin On the Second day. Represents the equivalents of the Ox zodiac and Taurus star sign.
Afaja, The Wise: Second-born son and Third child of Alentum. Takes the form of a wry and iguana-like dragon. 3 eyes if you don't see the pattern yet. Tracks the path of storms with chameleon-like eyes. Destined to be killed by Brother Milaomi on the third day(you get it). Represents the equivalents of the Rooster and Leo zodiacs.
Azelon, The Strange: Third-born son and fourth child of Alentum. Appears as a strange white skeletal dragon with flames as wing membranes. Destined to be killed by Brother Gozrelota. Acts as a secondary reaper and the keeper of the Hall of Afterlives. Represents equivalents of the Monkey and Scorpio Zodiacs.
Anyone, The Beautiful: Second-born daughter and fifth child of Alentum. Takes the form of a sinewy and equine-like dragon with emerald scales and gold stripes. Destined to be killed by Brother Nylenia. The closest thing to an aphrodite. Represents equivalents of the Tiger and Saggitarius Zodiacs.
Akarula, The Chosen: Fourth-born son and sixth child of Alentum. Crimson classic dragon-y dragon with added fur sometimes. Destined to be killed by Brother Falkhus. To-be Ruler of the Dream World although he never gets far before being defeated time and time again. Represents equivalents of the Dragon and Libra Zodiacs.
Asuli, The Shifter: Third-born daughter and seventh child of Alentum. A black slimy little shapeshifter that always keeps the seven eyes. Destined to be killed by Brother Uzeykiel Acts as the patron and ultimate master of tricksters and pranksters(also shadow magic but that's just a side hustle). Represents equivalents of the Dog and Cancer Zodiacs.
Alorus, The Feaster: Fifth-born son and eighth child of Alentum. A MASSIVE DRAGON that's like 40% mouth wyrm style. Destined to be killed by Brother Mysolianaki III. The world's ultimate garbage man who keeps all the stuff clean. Represents equivalents of the Pig and Aries Zodiacs.
Amerin, The Cold: Fourth-born daughter and ninth child of Alentum. IT'S SO FLUFFY! but in a polar bear way, not a teddy bear way. Destined to be killed by Brother Baelina. Acts as the keeper of the cold, forcing the north winds to stay in the north so the world doesn't freeze. Represents equivalents of the Goat and Capricorn Zodiacs.
Asfulfa, The Spiteful: Fifth-born daughter and tenth child of Alentum. A purple dragon with so many freaking horns(nope more than that, think harder). Destined to be killed by Brother Sufaakir. Holds all the world's grudges. Represents equivalents of the Rabbit and Virgo Zodiacs.
Agale, The Molten: Sixth-born daughter and eleventh child of Alentum. A downscaled Zorah Magdaros(or a small living volcano for losers who don't get the reference lol). Destined to be killed by Brother Qulkailnm. Makes the eruptions happen. Represents equivalents of the Horse and Pices Zodiacs.
Atisan, The Thin: Sixth-born son and twelfth child of Alentum. Thin as the name implies and a nice baby blue. Destined to be killed by Brother Delmoria, bringing the end-times(YAY!). Holds all unused magical energy, making him very destructive and unpredictable. Represents equivalents of the Rat and Gemini Zodiacs.

True Dragons:

There are 51 True Dragons and while I would like to go over all of them, this comment is already waaaay too long. So here's a brief summary:
The 51 True Dragons' powers vary immensely as do their size, intelligence, etc. The largest has half a mile wingspan. The longest is over a km long. The smallest dragon is a mere centimeter in length(it has a mind-controlled army btw). In terms of intelligence, we have one about as smart as a crow to beyond human comprehension. They may play roles such as guarding the castle of the most powerful royal family on the planet or just chilling and causing mischief. All are respected(if not begrudgingly for some). They'll be revisited in some post of mine in the near future.

Mortal Dragons:

Motral Dragons can be separated into three main categories. wyverns, wyrms, and sea serpents.
Wyvern: your basic wyvern or drake. Four Limbs, one or both of which may be wings. typically pterosaur-like size. They can sometimes spit poison or acid. They are very common in tropical islands and mountain valleys. May be semi-aquatic.
Wyrms: No legs no wings no problems. For a lack of better terms...BIG SNAKE. that's pretty much it. They live mostly underground or in big swamps. Not all that much to them.
Sea Serpents: Ship sinking, fish breathing, water mongering son of a b##ch!
-Naval Private Elion Galestone
I'm talking big! Like BIG! Real whale-killing sons of guns. They've never really been observed by survivors....because there weren't any...
If you read all the way through this gods forsaken comment, I thank you and applaud you for your immense patience! Again, feel free to ask any questions about anything in my world and I'll do my best to answer or come up with something on the spot.

Hi! DogFish here. I just got into Percy Jackson, uh oh. Anywho, welcome to this RP, again, this is dated in the first Percy Jackson series, PJO (Percy Jackson and the Olympians). Book Characters do exist in this RP but unless anyone volunteers to RP as them, npc them if you’d like them to be involved with your story. Otherwise pretend they don’t exist, and none are cabin councilors unless requested. ‼️IMPORTANT ‼️YOU MUST KNOW THE CABIN NUMBERS THAT ASSOCIATE WITH EACH GOD OR GODDESS! CABIN ONE = ZEUS, CABIN TWO = HERA, CABIN THREE = POSEIDON, CABIN FOUR = DEMETER, CABIN FIVE = ARES, CABIN SIX = ATHENA, CABIN SEVEN = APOLLO, CABIN EIGHT = ARTEMIS, CABIN NINE = HEPHAESTUS, CABIN TEN = APHRODITE, CABIN ELEVEN = HERMES, CABIN TWELVE = DIONYSUS ‼️‼️
————————————————————
Bio Template:
Name - Age - Cabin/Parent - Other Family - Appearance - Personality - Canon Character Friends - OC Friends - Ship - Backstory? - Nationality/Ancestry/Accent - Nicknames - Aesthetic - Other Languages besides English? - Favorite Camp Activity - Relationship/Opinions On/With Godly Parent - Wish/Dream/Goal - Voiceclaims - Other - MBTI - Name To Call You When We Aren’t Roleplaying :]
Example:
Beckett Colins - 13 - unclaimed (HERMES’ SON) - He did have a mom, and they were very close, as they were poor. - Beckett is a short, slim boy with knotted dark brown hair (that’s been dyed a lighter brown, but not fully so it’s kinda spotty) - He’s pretty shaky, he has major trust issues, and he always looks like he’s on the verge of crying. He’s really (mentally) strong though. He doesn’t cry unless other people do. Or he’s hurt. He’s tough even when he’s hurt though. He’s a bit afraid to speak up or ask for help sometimes, since he’s scared someone will tell him off for it. - Luke and Chris are like his adopted dads or something. No but seriously, an older (probably girl to remind him of his mom) in the Hermes cabin, unclaimed or claimed Hermes child, would be his mothefather figure to cope with being unclaimed. - N/A - N/A - he and his mom were very close, living in an overdue with rent apartment in a rundown neighborhood in NYC, but she died of heart failure when he was 8, and left Beckett to fend for himself on the streets of New York City. Thankfully he got food and things from people who felt bad, he had the cute factor of a child. Then he found CHB :] - His mother was heavily German, and could only speak German. He has a thick German accent especially when he speaks the language (it was his first language, as he learned it before English, which he’s still pretty bad at) - Rahh idk - Homeless. Idk streetwear? - He speaks German :) - uhhhhshajajkwkwksmzmk probably like nothing bc he’s pretty useless at everything tbh. - he wishes he could know him. - to be claimed. - Ben Platt (idk lol I was listening to DEH) - Aaauushhshsjjak idk help the poor boy - ISFP - EXAMPLE_NPC

So this RP I’m trying something new ! Everyone will have a starter prompt for every oc you roleplay as, just to give a feel of your overall character, you can give a description of what you look like, a dialouge to show how your oc speaks, or anything else that gives you a little tap into what your oc is like !! You may put this in ‘Other’ in your bio templates or not, the choice is yours, and these can also be used as RP starting prompts. You do have to pm me your starter prompt at some point before you begin roleplaying, so I can also make sure you know how to roleplay, and are exp. ‼️PLEASE WRITE THEM IN 2ND PERSON, USING YOU/YOURS PRNS FOR THE READER‼️
Example with Beckett —
.:You watch from across the amphitheater, at a frail, small looking boy, sitting with a few older Hermes boys, chatting and occasionally laughing. The Apollo cabin was leading a song at the moment, by the campfire, as the Ares cabin shot looks at the Athena cabin. All of which was relatively normal. The boy you were staring at caught your gaze. He gave a quick smile and a shy wave, before glancing back to the older boys and laughing a bit. (Not at you,) :.
Examples for each of my oc’s —
ARLO-
— As you tread through the forest you hear a stick snap in the distance, which earns a small squeak from the perpetrator. He’s a seemingly suntanned boy with dirt patches on his arms and face as he turns your direction. His brown eyes gleam amber in the sunlight. Definitely a son of Apollo, you thought as he froze, pondering if he should approach you. A wide grin broke out onto his face. — ` Heeeeyyyy..! What’re you doin’ out here? ` — He tilted his head. He looked around, awkwardly. “Ignore the uh.. mud..” he gave an awkward laugh as he wiped the dry mud and dirt from his arms and cheeks, waiting for your response.—
RUTHIE-
— You move into the back corner of the Forge, carefully trying to dodge sparks from metal, bracing your ears for the loud clangs and excruciating heat from the fires. You settle yourself into a comfortable standing position as you begin to heat up your sword with a blowtorch, grabbing goggles and placing them on your head. You feel a pair of eyes burning into your side, as you turn your gaze to your left and spot a short-haired girl staring at you with a flat expression. She has goggles pushed upwards on top of her head and gloves on as she looked down at your sword, not bothering to make eye contact. —` You’re doing it wrong. ` — She comments dryly. —
RAIYNA-
— you walk up to the big house, therefore Mr D, tiredly. Your cabin mates had been bickering all night and you were about to report it, but instead of the man in a floral Hawaiian shirt as always, it was a younger girl, shuffling a deck of cards with a bored expression on her face. She glanced over at you and cracked a small smile. — ` Thank gods someone’s here to talk to me. I was getting bored out of my mind. ` —She tilted her head at you, you opened your mouth to speak but she cut you off. — ` If you need my dad, he’s uh,, somewhere, I don’t exactly know where, ‘cause all I heard was ‘in charge’ and I stopped listening, ` — It was almost as if she read your mind. — ` I’m Raina, you? ` — The black-haired girl prompted, setting the cards down. —

Dialogue-
Dialogue is probably going to be most of what you type later on in the role-play. Dialogue is when a character is talking, either to themselves or to others. You need marks to represent dialogue though… soo- here’s some ideas :)
“Hi!”
‘ . Hi! . ‘
‘ ‘ Hi! ‘ ‘
/ ‘ / ‘ Hi! ‘ \ ‘ \
‘ -_ Hi! _- ‘
‘ ‘ Hi! ‘ ‘
` . Hi! . `
Actions-
At the beginning of every good rp- you use an entire PARAGRAPH of this crap. Oh jeez- every rp I do- I start with a paragraph of some actions or a description of what’s going on around me. Actions are basically everything that isn’t dialogue and thoughts in an rp. That means- “the wind blew softly” is an action in roleplaying. So is- “the floorboards creaked loudly” :) here are some action marks that you can use :D

Valentine Conner-
15- APHRODITE- the Conners (humans) - A young looking female with brown eyes and light brown hair, she has pale skin and lots of lashes. Her eyes brows are thin and fluffy and is thin. She has freckles on her face and has a height of 5’5 - She is kind, honest (a little too honest,) but can keep secrets, funny, and brave. - (to be made) -(anything dogfish does) - None 🤩 - Nothing dark, just a happy life until her momma made her leave for camp.- German American (like me), with a bit of a German accent. - Val, valentines, tree. - COQUETTE AND DOWNTOWN GIRL 🎀🖤 -she can speak German..- Canoes & sleep.- SHE LOVES HER GODLY MOMMY ❤️- to make a bouquet by the end of camp with mixed flowers, and to get her phone back. - none yet.. - She likes bows and flowers..-(shown in photo)- Lola 🎀
Raiyna Speals -
14 - Cabin 12/Dionysus - mother was a traveling singer and danceentertainer for the renaissance festival, Castor and Pollux which she has a decent relationship with - she has silky black mid-length hair and purple eyes, which she put contacts in when she was younger, since kids would bully her for the fact, she has pale-ish skin that mostly pales in the wintertime, which is why she loves heat. - She’s very sarcastic and has a good sense of humor, while she can be dry sometimes she’s also very good at acting and lying, from her dad. She likes talking. A lot. She’s very good at manipulating people, but she never really uses that ability much. She’s “cold” to people she doesn’t like, and she’s kinda the definition of “I don’t care what anyone thinks”, but she won’t just go frolicking in public screaming Good For You from Dear Evan Hansen at top lung capacity. She’s very dry sometimes, and extremely stubborn. She holds grudges against people, and she thinks first expressions are the most important. She’s a really supportive friend though. She can get quite disrespectful, and believes she shouldn’t have to follow any rules she doesn’t agree with. Overall She’s pretty laidback, unless passionate about a certain topic. - Percy def, uhh, Castor and Pollux, I dunno she likes to stay by herself mostly. Oh yeah, and Grover, they’re gossip buddies - Arlo, APOLLO CABIN KIDS!! - open, probably won’t get one though - miRP - Her mother had polish decent, she’s mostly American though. - Rai-Rai (Mr D.) Rai (Apollo kids) - Dark Academia - She speaks Spanish, French, German, and Italian (not fluently) because she needed to translate some for her mother while traveling. - Archery, she’s like, too good at archery, mostly because her cabin only really had three people in it and she’s convinced her dad to let her practice extra all the time. She also likes doing stuff with the Apollo cabin in general, since their dads are kinda like the two theatre Gods - “I get it, you’re all— without fathers I..” “I’m not. I love my dad.” She loves Dionysus, mostly because he lets her do things other campers can’t, through guilt tripping <3 also cause he teaches her card games, so she can beat her other friends and brag about it. - To make the Gods stop using them as players in their little game, she feels very strongly about defying the Gods,, for some reason. She knows she’ll never succeed, she just wants (mostly for her friends) the gods to actually notice their children. - some form of Janis Ian/Sarkisian - She likes trying to sneak her dad wine, that’s why she’s the favorite child :] - INTJ - DogFish
Arlo Pesci -
17 - Cabin 7/Apollo - his mom was a marine biologist, they had a really close connection. He had a dad (his mom’s husband) before Apollo, who was a nurse, but y’know, after he found out his wife was pregnant with someone random’s child, he divorced her. His stepdad was an ecologist, who worked at a zoo, so he spent most of his childhood at a zoo, now he loves animals. Until his stepdad got a divorce from his mom for money reasons. He’s the middle child of two mortal sisters. His older sister was born from his dad before Apollo, and his younger sister was born from his stepdad. His older sister’s name is Devyn, and his younger sister’s name is Emma - He has curly dirty blonde hair and suntanned skin, with brown/azure eyes that appear orange in the sun. Sometimes he uses hair gel, but he’s mostly given that up, because nobody really cares about what you look like at CHB. He’s often covered in dirt, and sometimes has leaves and twigs caught in his hair. During capture the flag he puts mud on his arms and stuff, and sometimes he creates tiger patterns on himself from the mud :] - He’s very passionate, and mostly happy, but he gets hurt very easily, emotionally. He cries easily as well. It’s a bad habit of his to cry over every little thing. He isn’t very smart, nor was he ever good at school, but he loves the people he surrounds himself with. He’s extremely gullible. Extrovert for sure. - WWIIILLLLL<3333 - uhh, Raiyna, OPEN!! GIVE THIS BOY FRIENDS! - 💍who’s gonna take this - sort of explained in family - his mom was American, with some unknown European ancestors. He’s caucasian. - Songbird/Sunshine (ship) - PrismCore - he’s not very good at that memory thing, probably not, - archery, as any Apollo child, that’s where he met Raiyna ! - he just wishes he could give his dad a big hug, let the boy hug his dad :[ - he wants everyone around him to be happy - Will Connelly or Jake Ryan Flynn - he’s an overachiever :( OH YEAH, HE PLAYS THE UKULELE, AND BASS GUITAR ! - ESFJ - DogFish :]
Ruthie Hearthstone -
16 - Hephaestus - she has her mom and stepdad back home, they’re inventors, - She’s a pale brunette with red streaks in her short hair. She doesn’t wear glasses, although she needs them. She has short sight. Speaking of her vision, she has hazel doe eyes and bruises/cuts on her arm from her machinery. - She’s very.. pre-season 1 Twilight Sparkle. Like, think smart (she wishes she was an Athena kid) but very socially withdrawn, she doesn’t like interaction but what she does like? Being alone with her inventions and metalwork in the forge or cabin 9 (again, pjo, not hoo.) - nobody. - nobody. - be my only friend whoever’s gonna be this girly’s ship. She may be an awkward introvert but she’ll try to give you science pickup lines and she’ll be wholesome to u :] - rrraaahhhhh uhh.. yeah um.. no? She’s just always been like this, her parents want her to be “normal” and socialize buttt? She disagrees. She ran away (AnnabethCore🤩) - America. RAAAHHH 🦅🦅🦅 - Ru / Ruth. She hates when people call her Ruth, because they assume it’s her real name, when Ruthie is what she was born with. - Academia in general - she speaks French and Russian, she learned Russian for fun and French for school. - Staying in her cabin and making stuff. - She doesn’t really care, though she’d like it if she was a child of Athena. - To be actually seen as not just this weird genius girl and for a person to be accepting of her humor and real personality. - Analise Scarpaci - She doesn’t have that cool fire power or whatever, she wishes she did though (she wishes she could be better a lot, she’s actually really insecure.) - INFP - DogFish

2024.05.11 09:29 Bosky2016 The Chinese zodiac will mirror how the strawhats meet Imu (updated)

The Chinese zodiacs predict how the strawhats will meet Imu/ arrive at the final boss room in maryjois
In my previous post which I made a year and a bit ago I said Ox: ussop, Cat: vivi, Tiger: jinbei, Rabbit: carrot, Dragon: chopper, Snake: brook, Horse: franky, Goat/monkey/rooster :nami/sanji/robin Dog: Zoro, Pig: Luffy, Mouse: Koby
I have already stated who I think will join and why.
I will be stating who I think each animal would represent
First lets look at one of the story as there are many variation of the zodiac race
The Jade Emperor, ruler of heaven and earth, decided it would be easier for his people to measure time if he gave them a proper calendar, called a zodiac. He decided to name each year after one of twelve animals. But how could he decide which animals deserved to have years named after them? He decided to ask all the animals to take part in a race. He would name the years after the first twelve animals to arrive at his palace on the riverbank. In those days the cat and the rat were best friends. “What an honour it would be to be part of the Jade Emperor’s calendar,” squeaked the rat. “We’ll enter the race together.” But when they saw where the race was to take place they were horrified. They had to cross a great wide river, very deep and very fast-flowing – and neither of them could swim. However, they were both cunning and clever. “We could hitch a ride on the back of someone who can swim,” mewed the cat. They looked at the other animals lining up on the riverbank. “The ox looks pretty strong,” said the cat, “and we’re both so small and light perhaps he won’t mind carrying us.” They asked the ox politely if he would give them a lift, and, the ox being a decent sort of chap, agreed. They jumped lightly onto his broad back. The ox waded slowly into the water and started to swim. He was indeed extremely strong and wasn’t at all bothered by the river’s dangerous currents. As they got nearer to the far bank they could see the Jade Emperor waiting on the shore. The rat desperately wanted to win the race. “If I’m first in the race,” he thought to himself, “I’ll be first in the calendar.” He looked at the cat perched on the ox’s back beside him. “If the cat weren’t here,” he thought, “the ox would be able to swim even faster. And what if the cat reaches the Jade Emperor before I do?” He reached out his paws and pushed his friend the cat into the river. The cat was swept away by the whirling waters. That is why there is no cat in the Chinese calendar.
When the ox reached the far bank of the river he began to lumber towards the Jade Emperor. He was quite surprised when the rat jumped off his back and scuttled towards the emperor, just pipping him at the post. The rat had won. And that is why, although they used to be friends, cats hate rats and will try to kill them if they see them. The ox didn’t really mind being second, as it still showed how strong he was.
Third came the tiger, who had swum powerfully against the strong currents which kept pushing him downstream.
Next came the rabbit. She had tried to cross the river by jumping from stone to stone. When there were no more stones she thought she had lost the race and was afraid she might drown. Then a big log floated past so she jumped on to that and clung on for dear life. To her surprise the log floated quickly all the way to the river bank, and the rabbit arrived in fourth place.
The Jade Emperor was very surprised that the mighty dragon only arrived in fifth place. “I thought you would have been here first,” he said, “as you can fly.” “Well,” said the dragon, “I had to stop and send rain to some poor farmers whose crops were dying of drought. Then I saw a poor little rabbit clinging onto a log floating on the river, so I blew gently to send the log safely to the riverbank.” The Jade Emperor was impressed by the dragon’s kindness.
Then he saw the horse galloping towards them. Everyone thought the horse would be in sixth place; but just as he slowed to a trot the snake, who had been hiding coiled up in his hoof, uncoiled himself, wriggled out of the horse’s hoof, and slid towards the Jade Emperor. The horse was so surprised that he jumped backwards. So the snake took sixth place and the horse had to be content with seventh.
The next three animals arrived together. They were the rooster, the monkey and the goat. They had worked together to cross the river. The rooster had found a raft. The goat had eaten a path to the river through the weeds, and the monkey had managed to steer the raft across the river. The Jade Emperor was very pleased to hear of such excellent teamwork. He declared the goat eighth, the monkey ninth and the rooster tenth.
In eleventh place was the dog. “What kept you?” asked the Jade Emperor. “Everyone knows you’re a really good swimmer.” “The water was so cool and clear,” woofed the dog, “and it seems so long since I last had a proper bath, I couldn’t resist the temptation to have a splash in the shallows before I crossed the river.”
The Jade Emperor waited and waited to see whether any other animals would finish the race. He was just about to give up and go back into his palace when up trotted the pig. “I’m awfully sorry I’m late,” said the pig, “but I had to stop for a mid-morning snack. And then lunch. And then an afternoon snack. And then tea. And then I felt so sleepy that I had to stop for a little nap. What’s for supper?” So the pig was just in time to be the twelfth animal of the zodiac. And that is how the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac were chosen.
So the order would be rat ox tiger rabbit dragon snake horse goat monkey rooster dog pig and cat didn’t finish the race pretty sure. I do not think the rat will betray the cat.
RAT - Chopper - I feel like the rat would be Chopper, as I chopper can’t swim like the rat meaning he would have to catch a ride with the ox. The ox in this scenario would be Zoro and Zoro and chopper have that kind of relationship where he can go with Zoro
OX - Zoro - I feel like Zoro would be the ox as somehow the one who is always late would be the first to arrive. Moreover the ox personality is similar to Zoro and if sanji is the tiger in this case Zoro would just want to beat sanji.
TIGER - Sanji - they are both fantastic swimmers, sanji losing to Zoro with directions/ getting to a place would be like how Zoro was first on saboady. Zoro and sanji would also be able to compete over this.
RABBIT - Brook - I feel the rabbit would be brook in this scenario cause just like rabbit brook can’t swim but he is light enough to float/run on water just like how the rabbit was jumping on stones and floating due to the log.
DRAGON - Robin - I believe this will be robin as her mentor was called dragon and she was a revolutionary for two years. Robin can also fly for a few seconds. Imu would probably think robin would want to be first like the dragon in this story cause the history of the world is connected to Imu.
SNAKE - Ussop - cause like the snake ussop would be hiding. In addition just like the bounty’s of the strawhats, ussop has been higher than franky which shouldn’t be right. So ussop managing to somehow appear before franky which in this scenario would be the horse would be like the bounty situation.
HORSE - FRANKY - as franky is linked with the number 7 a lot, the seventh to join the strawhats, he will fight the 7th Blackbeard commander Sanjuana wolf, as of chapter 1058 he has the 7th highest bounty in the strawhats. And there are probably other details. Franky even has a horse mode technically
GOAT - NAMI - because The goat had eaten a path to the river through the weeds similar to how a navigator navigates through the seas
MONKEY - Jinbei - the monkey wouldn’t be luffy but it would be Jinbei. The monkey would be jinbei because in the story the monkey had managed to steer the raft across the river similar to how the helmsman steers the boat on the crew.
ROOSTER - carrot - in this story the rooster was the one to find the boat to get them across the river. Carrot has excellent eyes and I believe she will be the lookout if she joins the crew. The monkey, goat and rooster having perfect teamwork would be similar to jinbei nami and carrot roles on the ship as they would be roles which are only needed on the ship
DOG - Koby - garp who was Koby mentor was conveniently called garp the dog. So Koby being the dog in this scenario would be fitting. Koby is also and excellent swimmer like how the dog was in this story.
PIG - LUFFY - this is because like many other shounen the main character typically arrives late and like the pig and luffy is the type of person who stop and go eat food just like how pig waited. Also just like how the jade emperor waited, I can see IMU doing the same to luffy considering how she looked at his wanted poster hinting at the idea she wanted to meet luffy the most.
CAT - VIVI - I feel like this would be VIVI as since the cat didn’t finish the race and meaning in this case couldn’t fight IMU up close and IMU was very interested in VIVI when we first met her. Or the cat could be LUFFY cause like I said before main character always comes last.
Let me make this clear this is just an idea and doesn’t need to be true, just a fun analysis on the similarities between the characters.
Monkey D dragon could easier be the dragon as he also fits the story well, Garp could also be the dog as his name is Garp the dog but i feel like he is too old but a monkey d family battle could be cool.
Sabo could also be one of them as well maybe even the cat
Ofc all the strawhats would be tired from fighting their opponents before hand apart from luffy allowing luffy to fight imu and provide most of the damage with the strawhats acting as backup.

A list of the best jewelry in Diablo and Where to find them (Vanilla & DevilutiuonX)
Greetings, before a while I started doing this guide as the old calculators seemed quite difficult for new players to work with. In any case I hope people will have simpler time navigating and searching for where to farm jewelry. I hope to have the time to finish this for all items. Your feedback will be much appreciated but keep in mind I try to keep a "96-97 look on my website.

2024.05.06 10:43 Agreeable-Ad4806 Exploration of Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra Part 1

Preface: This is for Vedic Sidereal Astrology
Like Part 1 of Ashwini, this will be about the deeper, more conceptual and traditional meanings of Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra. The predictive elements will be the focus in Part 2.
Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy.
Meaning
Purva Bhadrapada signifies an auspicious juncture along the soul's evolutionary journey. It manifests subsequent to the attainment of numerous siddhis, the significant expansion of consciousness, and the attainment of insight into realized truth about the nature of the universe. When an individual yearns for spiritual advancement with fervor, it garners the attention of higher beings, a circumstance of significance as elucidated by Adi Guru Sankaracharya, who regarded it as one of the greatest blessings of human existence. The safeguarding provided by Maha Purusha Ashrya, along with the guiding hand of divine beings, constitutes one of the three rare gifts, the others being human-ness (Manusya-twam) and the aspiration towards liberation (Mumukshatwam). Divine Guidance is bestowed upon fulfillment of these rare gifts to human individuals. This protective guidance equips the aspirant with the capability to stand independently as they become self-reliant. It signifies the culmination of trials and qualifies the aspirant for the gifts of further wisdom, power, and spiritual bliss.
The emergence of truth-consciousness subsequent to the dissolution of deceptive constructs, orchestrated in Shatabhisha uncovers to the individual a plethora of creative opulence. The newfound state also entails the opportunity. Peril of succumbing to either an ecstatic inundation of divine euphoria or, conversely, encountering assaults from the concealed adversaries of obscurity, such as vain-glory and megalomania, may precipitate a setback on the path to spiritual enlightenment. Yet in the following stage of egoic evolution, the individual moves towards a state of singular devotion to the divine creative imperative, surpassing all personal concerns and nearly achieving total detachment from any vestiges of material influence that may contaminate the psyche. This arduous process of reorientation occurs within the context of Purva Bhadrapada, demanding a commitment to transcendence amidst the complexities of existential pensivity.
Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra is the stage of cosmic evolution where the forces of creation and dissolution collide, echoing the journey of earthly limitations and divine transcendence. This nakshatra serves as a gateway to higher realms of consciousness in which the ego undergoes a process of purification and surrender, ultimately merging with the cosmic fabric of existence. It's a time of penance, sacrifice, and duty. If looked at from the scope of human life, it is that moment when one faces their mortality, fully acknowledging the inevitable approach of death soon-to-come. Purva Bhadrapada is the twenty-fifth Nakshatra of the twenty-seven and overlaps with Aquarius and Pisces Rashis, spanning from 20º00' Aquarius to 3º20' Pisces. This is still going to be important. While not directly corresponding to these Rashis, there will inevitably be an intermingling of energies, making the transition from Aquarius to Pisces an important area of significance for this asterism. The overlap can also be characterized through shared overlap with Saturn, Jupiter, and the Navamsa rulers, which can only be derived accurately when using the sidereal zodiac.
The term "Purva Bhadrapada" can broken into three parts: "Purva" meaning "earlier" or "former", "Bhadra" meaning "auspicious"or "lucky", and "Pada" meaning "feet", "steps", or possibly even implying a stool or pillar. Strung together, Purva Bhadrapada can be translated into "the former (one) with lucky steps." These mostly refer to this asterism's ruling deity, which I will discuss later. However, in the Vedas, both Uttara Bhadrapada and Purva Bhadrapada fall under the common name "Prostyapadas," which is another compound word consisting of "Prostya" and "Padas." "Prostya" refers to "a bull", "a fish", and may even suggest qualities such as strength, mightiness, growth, and creative fertility. The bull is in reference to light and purity as a vehicle where abundance is unhindered, whereas the fish is associated with salvation and good fortune. Purva Bhadrapada's alternative name is Purvaproshthapada, and this roughly means "(the one who possesses) lucky feet of the stool," and this indicates a fixed and stable nature, not unlike a quadruped who can remain fixed firmly in place despite external forces trying to push it over. (Side note: Purva Bhadrapada in no way translates to ‘the burning pair’; This Nakshatra is indeed heavily linked with fire, but I have no idea where this specific phrase I keep seeing came from in terms of translation). Additionally, with the consideration of both, Purva and Uttara Bhadrapada refer to the period where the land receives rain in profusion. Purva refers to the earlier phase of the month, whereas Uttara signifies the latter. Under the heavy rain when the land is wet and the atmosphere is moist, there is luxuriant growth. Uttara and Purva Bhadrapada, together, represent the beginning of a new upsurge of creative activities. But as the individual is no longer concerned with their personal development in view of the vast expansion of consciousness under Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada is of a special nature. It works to prepare the ego for its final union with the universal consciousness in the accomplishment of one's final destiny. And through the various driving forces behind this asterism, advancement towards this goal is supported.
Symbols
Purva Bhadrapada's main symbol is the front two legs of a funeral cot or bed, aptly representing the first step towards our departure from the world. It is closely linked to its overlap with the transition from Aquarius and Pisces rashis in this way (if you're still trying to use tropical signs with the nakshatras, this is something that will not make any sense to you), as Pisces, affiliated with the 12th house, signifies death and the dissolution of the self. The 12th house also deals with sleep and bed pleasures, which relate to the final pada of this asterism. The point of leaving Aquarius and entering Pisces, is intimately connected with the transition from the natural 11th and 12th houses, representing the departure from fulfilling one's duty of supporting society into the retirement of death.
Another one of this Nakshatra’s symbols is a man with two faces, one belonging to a gentle, civilized, and well-cultured man, while the other one shown as being intensely angry, violent, destructive, and evil. This symbolism is meant to represent extreme polarity, though this polarity does not seem to be mutually restrictive in the sense that it has to be either or. Oftentimes, the depiction of these faces is portrayed to be one and the same, possibly even implying one inner and one outer, spiritual and physical, or the conflicting nature of mankind as a whole.
The third symbol of Purva Bhadrapada is two swords crossed like they are opposing each other in battle (sometimes just a sword, but it makes little difference). This part of Purva Bhadrapada's symbolism relates to the process of self defense, attack, self-reliance, and cutting, which is meant to be protective, destructive, and linked with pains, injuries, accidents, violent deaths, and endings.
There is also another symbol of this Nakshatra being a single ray of light, which I will cover more later on in relation to Ajaekeapada. For now, just know that it relates to the focus, clarity, and single-minded determination inherent to this Asterism. The single ray of light is that of the minimal light of hope or purity experienced at the precipice of death, yet this is simultaneously contrasted by the clear enlightenment of a single path. It acts like a beacon, leading one out of the darkness and into transcendence.
Ruling Deity
The ruling deity of Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra is Ajaekapada. The significance of Ajaikapada is discernible from the composition of his name, made up of three components: Aja-Eka-Pada, collectively denoting a "one-footed unborn goat or ram." The one-footed aspect of his symbolism is very important to first understand. Vedic literature categorizes living entities based on the number of their feet, with humans deemed bipedal, animals quadrupeds, and reptiles possessing numerous "sideways" appendages. Notably, the designation of "one-footed" beings is absent, as those who stand alone without external support represent spiritual entities untainted by materiality, radiating their own luminance. They embody a purified consciousness associated with Tapasya, liberated from all ignorance and obscurities. Such one-footed beings epitomize divinity, united in their awareness of the supreme and omnipresent source. Puranic narratives further illustrate this symbolism. Dhruva, a significant figure in Hindu mythology, was the son of King Uttanapada. Despite being the eldest son, Dhruva was denied his birthright to inherit his father's throne due to the favoritism of his stepmother, Suruchi, towards her own son, Uttama. This denial of his rightful inheritance and neglect fueled Dhruva's resolve to seek divine intervention and prove his worth through rigorous penance and devotion to Lord Vishnu. This is what led the wise sage, Narada, to advise him to forsake his royal abode, retreat to the depths of the forest, and engage in penance while standing on one leg. This act of penance directed by Narada is emblematic of spiritual asceticism and detachment from worldly entanglements. Dhruva, after enduring thousands of years of penance to lord Vishnu, standing on one foot, was granted rulership of his own eternal abode. This successful completion of his austere practices not only restored his Royal inheritance and enabled him to rule for an extended period, but it also elevated him to the status of the divine star. This divine appointment entrusted him with the crucial responsibility of maintaining the Earth's stability and guiding its evolution according to the divine plan. The outcome of Dhruva's singular penance illustrates the importance of unwavering focus, concentration on the ultimate reality, and self-assurance. Additionally, it signifies the bestowment of responsibility for the preservation of creation.
Ajaekapada's unborn nature is also important in the sense of being “untouched” by materially. Aja signifies the unborn but not quite how you may think. Instead of only being literally unborn in the sense where higher beings do not experience the plight of karma, birth, or rebirth, it also representative of a goat or ram-like figure. In Hinduism, goats hold significant symbolic value, both as providers of sustenance through their milk-producing abilities and as participants in sacrificial rituals. The act of milking a goat or cow is considered sacred, symbolizing the nurturing and life-sustaining qualities associated with the divine. Milk carries symbolic importance in Hindu tradition, representing purity, nourishment, and prosperity. Furthermore, goats are implicated in ancient Vedic rituals, such as yajnas (fire ceremonies, where sacrificial offerings are made to gods like Agni. These rituals involve the offering of various materials, including grains, ghee, fruits, and sometimes animals, into a sacred fire as a means of seeking blessings and promoting cosmic harmony. Valued for its simplicity, harmlessness, and ability to sustain itself with minimal resources while providing for others, the goat embodies qualities conducive to sacrificial offerings. Additionally, goats/rams are associated with the primal and untamed forces of creation and renewal, making them suitable candidates for rituals aimed at seeking blessings, atonement, or fulfilling vows. So, in a way, Aja is both the literal unborn marked by divinity, and the sacred sacrificed, existing as one. I think this makes a lot of sense in terms of how often this nakshatra is associated with saviorism, such as with the predominant Christ symbolism I see permeating the West and how Yeshua was sacrificed to “save humanity”. Moreover, beginnings in general are closely linked with Brahma, the cosmic creator. The beginning-ness and unborn quality of this Ajaekapada is indicating that the presiding deity of Purva Bhadrapada is immersed in acts of primacy and all forthcoming manifestative endeavors.
Furthermore, Eka conveys the notion of singularity, denoting an entity characterized by infinity and a lack of motion or speed— unmatched and supreme, suggesting the cessation of duality, intrinsic to the manifestative principle. Under Purva Bhadrapada, duality begins to dissipate, integrating both spirit and matter as one. Ajaekapada is also indicative of unrefined creative energy necessary for the production of of the different levels of existence, such as the lower Lokas (hell) and the higher Lokas (heaven). The unity birthed in Purva Bhadrapada creates a sense of inner security. The qualifier "Eka" preceding "pada" elevates the significance of the term, with "pada" signifying either the foot of humans or animals, or a singular ray of light.
The deity Ajaekapada thus represents the concept of an unborn, single-footed goat/ram-like entity emitting a solitary ray of light. Purva Bhadrapada imparts a self-reliant nature, but this comes with significant creative responsibilities. Ajaekapada is invoked primarily for safety, protection, and the alleviation of worldly afflictions. The hymns within the Atharva Veda associate him with a state inherent in the neophyte's evolutionary journey. Possessing the power of wisdom and other potent impulses, Ajaekapada is capable of liberating individuals from the entanglements of human relationships and the pursuit of materialistic experiences. However, the unleashing of such latent potentials can prove perilous if adequate preparatory measures are neglected, especially if the energy source remains improperly harnessed.
The array of forces under Ajaekapada's dominion harbors significant destructive potential, particularly shown by his depiction as being fiercely adorned with a garland of skulls, a corpse beneath his foot, tiger skin around his waist, and a wrathful expression, not to mention his second form as a fiery serpent (this makes me think of Kali, and while I really want to make this association, I feel for not it would be unfounded to do so; you can consider on your own though). Make no mistake, those unprepared for evolutionary progression will not fair very well in the face of this deity, hence the scriptures cautiously describing his nature and potentialities. Only individuals of profound spiritual inclination are brought into closer communion with this deity.
Born of the union between Bhuta and Daksha (one of the Prajapatis, the progenitors of beings in the universe, often depicted as the father of Sati [the first wife of Lord Shiva] and as a revered sage and patriarch), Ajaekapada emerges as a formidable being alongside his siblings, including Ahirbudhanya, who would later become the ruler of Uttara Bhadrapada. In the narrative where Daksha Prajapati offers ten of his daughters to Dharma (the god of righteousness), Ajaekapada's characteristics are highlighted, albeit indirectly through his shared divine lineage. Ajaekapada's attributes can be inferred from the emergence of radiant deities which he shares relation to, including Vasu Prabhas, who symbolizes splendor and luminosity. Therefore, Ajaekapada may be associated with principles of righteousness, virtue, and cosmic harmony, aligning with the significance housed within the mythological narrative.
While I do think that some of Ajaekapada’s symbolism and meaning has creeped into Western culture, simply out of the universality and timelessness of Vedic wisdom and its accompanying archetypes, I do not think Baphomet (Devil on the tarot card) or the Christian devil accurately portray this deity. In the Western context, Baphomet is often depicted as a goat-headed figure and has been associated with various occult traditions and esoteric symbolisms, namely tarot. I think this figure shares a lot in common in Ajaekapada through their similar emphasis on spiritual evolution and the union of opposites, but baphomet fails to fully capture the significance of Ajaekapada. Ajaekapada is not representative of materialism and does not represent being chained by one’s desires. If anything, he is a sentinel at the gate of death making sure you relinquish your attachments before crossing over. Similarly, the Christian devil is sometimes depicted with goat-like features, drawing on ancient pagan imagery of fertility and wilderness, and this is likely why people made this association, but it is not accurate. See, Ajaekapada is not just some obscure deity; he is a rudra, one of the fiercest forms of Lord Shiva. In the Vedas, they are depicted as storm gods, embodying the forces of nature and the power of destruction and renewal. The Rudras are often described as a group of eleven or sometimes as a larger collective. Each Rudra represents a specific aspect of Shiva's power and attributes, including destruction, healing, protection, and transformation. For Ajaekapada, it is almost as if it is representative of the most destructive form Shiva at the time of his tandava, where the material universe is destroyed. In fact, there are even some interpretations of Vedic mythology that make this connection, but I personally think it isn’t clear enough to draw this connection at this time. If it were the case, though, Ajaekapada would take on a whole new level of significance.
Following the realization of 'bounded infinity' and the Immensity of void', the Rudras become important as an individual's primordial essence becomes receptive to the descent of the superconscient. Anticipating the fulfillment of long-held destiny, there awaits the dawn of this transformation uncertainty. The boundless Void reveals its abundant gifts of subjective experiences imbued with celestial bliss. However, paradoxically, within this realm, any remnants of materiality multiply manifold, leading to calamitous outcomes before the eventual destruction. You might see this as being related to Kali Yuga, where materialism and spiritual ignorance are at their peak in order to balance the previously more righteous Yugas of existence. All seeds of entanglements must be dissolved before the ego embarks on its evolution and self-realization journey. In essence, one must be tempted and tested in order to really know whether they are ready to evolve. Materialism and unrighteousness must be resisted in their full saturation of promise in order to know that the soul is ready to cross the veil to attain enlightenment.
The Rudras stationed at Prostyapadas, representing embodiments of destructive power, vigilantly prevent even the slightest trace of mental impurity from crossing this threshold. Ajaekapada supervises progress under Purva Bhadrapada, ensuring that impersonal creative forces flourish effortlessly while eradicating any lingering material seeds within the depths of the heart. As a product of elemental phenomena, Ajaekapada cannot allow past memories, inclinations, and achievements to dissipate without resistance. The ensuing struggle thereby renders life under Purva Bhadrapada arduous and oftentimes painful. Like I keep saying, initiation requires one’s feet be bathed in the blood their heart— attachments cannot be maintained.
As I mentioned before, Shiva is indirectly going to be related to this Nakshatra. There is way too much to cover in terms of all of what Shiva could signify for this asterism, and I'm sure you're probably still reeling from the previous passage, so I will just keep it brief. Shiva is one of the trimurti and is known as "the destroyer." This aspect of destruction symbolizes the cyclical nature of existence, where old structures make way for new beginnings. In this case, it is at the end of a cycle making way for the dissolution encompassed in the following bridged 12th Rashi of Pisces. In Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra, Shiva's presence suggests the need to let go of the past and embrace change for spiritual growth. His association shows the power of the transformative forces at play within this celestial realm, inviting us to surrender to the natural flow of life's cycles as we grow to understand them.
Planetary Associations
In the Vimshottari system of astrology, the main celestial body linked with Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra is Jupiter, the great and gentle benefic, Brihaspati– preceptor of the gods. You can look at my other post describing the nature of Jupiter for a description of his essential nature and function, and you’ll see the dichotomy presented there to be quite poignant to understanding this Nakshatra, but in this post, I’m going to go a little bit deeper.
Success in the completion of occult initiation requires an immense amount of Jupiterian energy tempered by Saturn's restraint. In Purva Bhadrapada, the atmosphere is rich in potential for such an activity. Purva Bhadrapada's alignment with Jupiter illuminates the essence of Jupiterian energies, embracing wisdom, expansiveness, and spiritual evolution, which are all integral to the journey of occult initiation. On a more sour side, in ancient astrological traditions, Jupiter is often associated with excess, overindulgence, and the growth of everything indiscriminately. This links it to a lesser-known, destructive side of Jupiter. Just as growth of a tumor in the body will destroy the physical constitution, unencumbered growth of potential regardless of direction, represented by Jupiter’s influence in this asterism, is dangerous for society at large. While Jupiter is primarily seen as an all-benefic influence, its expansive nature can sometimes lead to a lack of necessary moderation or the destruction of weakness characteristic of Saturn. This weakness can include that of negative potentials, resulting in decadent downfall. In Vedic astrology, Jupiter is considered a natural significator of wealth, knowledge, and spirituality. However, when its energy is unchecked or misaligned, it can lead to overconfidence, extravagance, and moral decline. Jupiter's influence in destruction is thus linked to its potential to amplify negative tendencies and contribute to the corruption of individuals and civilizations through the pursuit of excessive desires and worldly pleasures.
But here's where it gets really interesting. From a spiritually-inclined perspective, even the destructive influence of Jupiter should not necessarily viewed as negative. In contrast to the restrictive nature of Saturn, which denies and confines, Jupiter offers abundance and fulfillment. However, this influence will inevitably only serve to reveal the inherent emptiness of such pursuits, auspiciously illuminating the truth about reality. Both debauchery and extravagance, though initially alluring, ultimately lead to the realization of the poverty inherent in materials. When you get everything you want, you may realize that you never really wanted it, and when death is looming closer, you may spiral out of the recognition of a life wasted chasing meaningless and empty trophies of attachment. Regardless of one's wealth, knowledge, or status, all worldly possessions are destined to dissolve and fade into obscurity. Consider those who lived a mere century ago—how many are remembered, and for what reasons? Nothing amassed in life accompanies us beyond death's threshold. Even those still famous to us after centuries will eventually have their names disappear with the cycling of enough Moons. (Purva Bhadrapada is also associated with Jupiter in another way through its overlap with Pisces Rashi, but at that stage, it becomes closer to Uttara Bhadrapada and is less susceptible to the dangers posed by this Nakshatra, simply due to the purity achieved at that point.)
Saturn's overlapping influence on this place of the ecliptic plane shared by Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra provides protection from the influence of materiality. People often forget that, while harsh, Saturn is ultimately merciful. Shani allows you to make amends for your past karma, and this will prevent the peak of Jupiter's power, an inherently material yet paradoxically spiritual force, to not go so far as to ruin all the spiritual progress made up to that point of egoic evolution. Saturn is also important when you consider the disciplined and detached nature of this Nakshatra, which is to be required when facing the inevitability of death. However, due to the immense power housed in this Nakshatra associated with Jupiter, Saturn, and Ajaekapada (and navamsa lords, which I’ll cover in the next part), the influence of Saturn needs to be very strong to fulfill its duties righteously. Otherwise, it can further corrupt the position of this Nakshatra, leading to selfish and undisciplined destruction, which is one of the reasons this Nakshatra was so feared by the ancient sages. Saturn is also very materialistic, so it can present an almost insurmountable challenge when misaligned.
Any lapse at the height of this Nakshatra is likely to result in severe wreckage and unparalleled despair. Perhaps the reason why this Nakshatra is associated with the Devil in Western society is because of this darker potential to "fall from heaven." Regardless of all the energies working in one’s favor at this stage of advanced spiritual evolution, we are reminded that, as humans, we possess the capacity for both divine greatness and profound darkness. It is in the recognition of this duality that we find the true test of our character and the eternal struggle to maintain balance amidst the cosmic forces of light and shadow.

  6. Available in Paperback/eBook
Jeffrey Dharma, psychic detective is called in by Chandler Rourke of the Dallas Police Department, to find the whereabouts of a missing young girl, Alice Hayes. She was believed to have been abducted by her mother’s female lover, Sydney Moon but Sydney has been found dead. Dharma must interview the corpse, whose ego is still lying dormant in her pineal gland, awaiting rebirth. Using her astrological details Jeffrey tries to follow her through the Samsara but she is abducted by a djinn and taken to the Realm of the Dead, on the orders of Dharma’s nemesis, Bob Jatta. Aboboulaye Jatta having twice returned from death has established himself as king of the Soul Eaters, vengeful spirits who consume the souls of the newly dead. The Soul Eaters believe that by nourishing their spirit bodies in this manner, they will gain enough power to manifest themselves in new transhuman bodies back on Earth.
Dharma enters the Valley of the Shadow of Death accompanied Wolfgang Spiel, former Norse god, Heimdall, along with Issa Kristna and Sananda Immanuel, both incarnations of Jesus Christ, along with Jeffrey’s soul sister, the goddess Kali. Jeffrey and Wolfgang are captured and humiliated by Jatta, now calling himself Apollyon. Dharma using his newly acquired transhuman powers enlists the help of three heroes to rescue him. Two are real historical figures, Edward James Corbett, tiger hunter turned conservationist and James Butler Hickok, the western hero better known as Wild BillHickok. The third rescuer is the legendary Allan Quartermain with the modified DNA of Jeffrey and the fifty Ryder Haggard novels he featured in programmed into his brain in an otherworldly laboratory.
Despite the help of his supernatural allies Dharma is nowhere closer to finding the whereabouts of Sydney Moon. Moon has rebirthed as a hamadryad, her spirit trapped in a tree overlooking the cabin where the abducted girl is hiding from demons that Jatta has sent to torment her. Sydney is given special powers by Gaya the Earth Mother and helped by an alseid, a fairy who plans to help Moon get a message to the Alice’s mother.
Dharma and his allies turn their attention to confronting Apollyon Jatta, planning to trade his Earth mother and lover, Abibatu Jatta, who they have kidnapped in return for the whereabouts of Alice Hayes. Apollyon has gained more powers and made himself king of Aurum, the Gold World, a country that exists across many dimensions of reality and made entirely of gold. Here captives from every period of world history are traded for gold; this place had been the source of Jatta’s wealth for many years. New Hades, the capital city of Aurum. New Hades is populated by beings who have chosen to drop out of Samsara and are happy to live for eternity in this city of decadence. They gain an audience with Apollyon but the creature is beyond reasoning with and the trade off fails to take place.
Dharma returns to his tower in the Desert to replenish himself by confronting any doubts and fears he inherited from his fundamentalist Christian upbringing. He and embarks on an inner voyage to his mother’s heaven. What he finds disturbs him, he finds something very dark lurking behind the beauty of his mother’s celestial city.
Dharma discovers that Jatta has become symbiotically linked with two of his powerful previous incarnations. Firstly, the almost forgotten Hindu god Kratu, Kratu had remained dormant for many eons until he became the great magician, Simon Magus but Magus took command of Kratu, subduing the god’s ego. Magus continued to regenerate as many famous humans and acquiring great psychic powers. The alliance against Jatta must decide if they are facing three manifestations of a Hindu god or are they fighting separate entities, if so which one is the greatest threat to humankind?

I remember someone telling me that it is bad luck to get a tattoo of your Chinese zodiac sign. Is this true? I really like the symbolism of tigers, but it is my zodiac sign, and I don't want to break any kind of rules.
