2024.05.11 07:17 sadib100 Apostate Prophet is a fascist grifter.

Two months ago, I made a post about my opinions on Apostate Prophet after only knowing of him for a week. Since then, my opinion of Ridvan has only worsened.
I understand some of you may feel a sense of gratitude towards AP because his videos helped you leave Islam, but that's completely unnecessary. His videos are specifically made to appeal to those who already hate Islam. You wouldn't have watched them if you hadn't already Islam on some level, even subconsciously.
What makes Ridvan a grifter?
He's an atheist who constantly panders to Christians, in the most cringey ways. Why would any non-Christian tweet this? That's not just Islam's objection to Christianity. That's literally what every non-Christian believes. There was never a time when the majority of the world believed Jesus was God. I pointed out in my previous post that even his older videos reek of Christian apologia, so much so that I realized one of my arguments against Islam has a huge flaw, because he used it to defend Christianity.
Ridvan constantly livestreams with one of his best friends, David Wood, who blocked me on Twitter because I fact-checked him on the Bible. I gave him the nickname Dawood Maccabee because Dawood is the Arabic version of David and Maccabee means hammer in Aramaic. If you're unaware of the relation between him and hammers, I implore you to look it up. Since my last post, I learned that Dawood is specifically an evangelical apologist, which means he promotes a group with more regressive social and political views than Islam. People living in glass houses shouldn't throw hammers.
What makes Ridvan a fascist?
He repeatedly denies news stories. If that was actually fake news, he'd have gloated about a retraction. Instead, he casually moves on to the next story to lie about. He constantly denied the possibility of a famine in Gaza, which raises the question of why the World Central Kitchen was there. Speaking of which, after the IDF blew up several WCK trucks, Ridvan praised the IDF's terrible non-apology.
Yesterday, Ridvan retweeted Trump. If you don't think Trump is a fascist or a grifter, I don't know what to tell you. Today, Ridvan gave his 6 points to "fix" Europe, all of which were Islamophobic or straight up xenophobic. This is the smoking gun. My response was this page from Captain America: Steve Rogers #1, with Red Skull giving an eerily similar speech. This page went viral a few years ago because some readers shared it without catching on to the fact that they were agreeing with fascist talking points. Although, the page was overshadowed by the final page, where Cap says, "Hail Hydra." The irony is that this comic from 2016 came out years before Ridvan emigrated from Turkey.
I'm tired of seeing Apostate Prophet being praised here. Hopefully, I helped articulate reasons why he's clearly not a good person.

so let's break it down, we had an incompenet police let ppl trample over a crime scene, 2 corrupt da's that coddled the fuck out of the ramseys, their status and finances lead them protection with the best lawyers money can buy and a spineless police force that refused to not handle the ramseys with kid gloves
you then had a bought and paid for ramsey shill in lou smit, even kolar is blinded by the ramseys image by not entertaining any other theory than bdi,
steve thomas is the only one that wasn't blinded, corrupt and refused to handle them with kid gloves
from the start his only desire was justice for jbr, the corruption in the da office knew this hence why they blocked his every attempt at solving the case

2024.05.11 07:10 feralbuffoon MySubaru account no longer receiving vehicle status information and remote access controls

I got into an accident back in January that thankfully only caused cosmetic damage. After four months I finally got it back today but the MySubaru app is not updating with each time I start my car and I am unable to use the remote start among other controls available in the app. While they were working on it some of the warning lights came on for whatever reason, and my best guess it they did something with the computer system in my car to make the warning lights disappear before they gave it back to me. I have an appointment scheduled for this upcoming Monday to have it serviced, especially since those warning lights are still showing up in my app. The car isn’t having any issues and no lights are coming on when I start it, but clearly my cars computer system is no longer connected to my account. Is there any way I can manually reconnect or troubleshoot this issue on my own? Or do I just have to wait until Monday and hope they can figure it out at the dealership. I would like to be able to access my remote start and vehicle status before then, so if anyone has had this issue before and was able to fix it, please do tell how you did it.

2024.05.11 07:05 Sleepy_Sheepz AITA for taking a gift from a child and giving it to her poor sister

Before you judge this is not my story I in fact am 17 have no children. I believe this is a yta story but I got into a argument with someone online about how messed up this is.
Okay before you say anything about this I forgot the name of the film. It was a foreign film but at the beginning this is what happened wife runs away from husband whom is very rich once she finds out she’s pregnant. Reason is unknown shortly after both party’s gets remarried. Pregnant wife Mary’s an alcoholic while husband has no clue the where his ex wife is. He also has no clue he has a daughter with his ex wife. Ex husband got his new wife pregnant shortly after being together.
Fast forward ex wife falls ill and tells her best friend the truth about how she ran away from her husband and birth his child. The best friend is the maid to her ex husband. The ex wife tells her to tell her ex husband about her his daughter. Well the film consists of the constant abuse this girl goes through and how the maid struggles to find the time and place to tell the little girls father of his child’s existence. Back to the main focus of this story though.
When the maid walked in with the little girl it was her half sister’s birthday. The maid assumed it was not the time and place to announce the girls are sisters so she lied to the room and told everyone that is her friends child. This is true but it was also kept secret she was their granddaughter, niece, half sister, stepdaughter, and daughter. When everyone saw how poorly dressed she was the aunt of the little girl said “oh my she’s dressed so poorly here you need this more” and snatched the girls new sweater out of her hand and placed it on her nieces. This seemed not okay to me and it also started the main drama between the second daughter and first daughter. This led to physical violence and trauma towards the older daughter. (Older daughter is ex wife’s kid she is seven or eight I believe).
To me this seemed like an asshole move and I said that in the comments. I got into a argument with someone online about this. Their point was simple “she’s poor and needs the sweater more besides her sister is rich and can buy more”. I personally see this as not okay to do. Regardless of wealth status it’s not okay to take from a child especially on their BIRTHDAY. Regardless of wealth so here the question of this in total.

SL Govt. accept an excessive Annual payment of USD 57Mn for Wind energy to Adani (details in description).
(From Murtaza Jeffergee- twitter)
Mannar is one of the best locations in the tropics for wind generation (unique geography) - see (globalwindatlas.info/en) [top of the above image]
The new machines that can be used on the site would probably have a nazzle (mid point) of 100m, this is 10m taller than what the CEB has. I am told CEB is already getting around 45% (the past 2 years have been below average winds).
Lets take a plant up time of 97% - grid failures, repairs, stoppages due to migratory bird movements, etc. This will give you 43.65% NOT 36% that Adani is claiming. The actual figure maybe higher due to higher turbines and average winds.
Total potential power generation is 484 MW x 1,000 x 24 hours x 365 days x 97% x 45% = 1.85 bn units. Lets take losses at 3%, the billable units will be approx 1.8 bn units a year.
If this project was tendered internationally the tariff would have come BELOW USD 5 cents (in India it is around USD 3-4 cents). Lets take a conservative figure of USD 5 cents. The different is USD 3.2 cents per unit. [Since Adani will receive USD 8.26 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) as per PPA with GOSL]
My simple maths gives me USD 57 mn a year of excess payments. Over 20 years it will be USD 1.14 bn.
Before finally signing the PPA, it should be exposed to a swiss challenge to check whether anyone else globally can improve on the tariff. A minimum period of 4 months should be given to solicit further interest.
Awarding the West Terminal in the port of Colombo without calling for an international tender and giving it SDP Status with a 25 year tax holiday was a mistake. Lets not make another mistake.

2024.05.11 06:30 skooni Update for Tree Town transition (May 10th)

Update for Tree Town transition (May 10th)
Hey all, our team wanted to share updates on the Tree Town transition. Know this update can be tough but some aspects were more rocky than they should have so want to keep you all posted as we work through things:
  • Mutual friends disappearing: We’ve been investigating reports of mutual friends disappearing, and we can now confirm that very inactive friends were unintentionally removed, particularly those who hadn’t used the app this year. We are trying our best at the moment to recover as many of inactive mutual friends but likely we will not recover folks from beyond a year ago. Due to data volume, it will take some days to finish migrating as many of these folks back and we hope to finish this by Wednesday PST. We will keep keep this announcement updated but you can also follow along at https://befinch.notion.site/Finch-App-Status-fe39d41f516544d3af9068871f34220c
  • Non-Finch users: We know some folks had put people or outside of Finch in their Tree Town and found that meaningful. While we unfortunately still cannot reverse this decision for the future we are trying to build (more details in a comment thread), we know this transition can be particularly tough and we want to make things much easier. In the next app update, Tree Town Settings will list all the Tags you used to have in Tree Town (screenshot). We know this is not the same but please know that this is the best intermediate state we can offer and hope this can make it much easier to access important folks folks had added to Tree Town before.
  • Friendship progress lost after re-adding friend: We unfortunately cannot revive lost progress but we believe we have found a way to prevent this from impacting more users. The next app update will have this fixed.
  • Other bugs already fixed in App Store/Google Play’s current update
    • Moving friends in Tree Town causes them to disappear. Note that Friends should reappear when you reload the app, but please update the app to avoid this issue altogether.
    • Notif badge not clearing from Tree Town tab.
Know this update was tough and we are deeply sorry for folks who were strongly impacted. There were mistakes on our end with handling inactive friends and we should have done more to make this transition easier. We hope to reflect on these learnings and our team is still working hard to get this fixes and updates out. Please know that we are still monitoring closely to all the feedback and will continue to do so over the weekend. We will understand if this experience was too much for you and know it’s on us to re-earn any trust lost, and with or without Finch, we will always be rooting for everyone here. Let us know if you have any questions.

2024.05.11 06:00 AigymHlervu Some screenshots of one of my games and several hints I'd like to share.

Some screenshots of one of my games and several hints I'd like to share.
Under these sun and sky, I greet you warmly. Aigym Hlervu here. I decided to share this note on my recent playthrough with some hints to those who are still unaware of them. At least I haven't found them on any website. Ok, so, it was not the best playthrough in terms of the end game score (just 2866 points this time - basically, because I played it without declaring independence till 1799 and lost several opportunities during the game), but definitely it was a pleasant game. Everything was as usual: Viceroy difficulty, Spain (because of some personal reasons), no agression against the Indians and thus no use of the Spanish anti-Indian bonus (I'm trying to be a good man). The goal was usual - to suppress the other European powers, prevent them from declaring independence and to do everything the king asked me for before proclaiming me the viceroy of New Spain.
Well, I failed to be the first who declares independence. Having started close to the shore of North America (the best option of all) and between the capital villages of the Cherokee and the Iroquois, I built Isabella in the vicinity of Long Island and Veracruz a bit to the East of it. Isabella became one of the two ports in North America and the educational center while Veracruz (supported by Buenos Aires ore mining colony) became the industrial center (and later an educational one too). All the other colonies were specializing in gathering and manufacturing tools, tobacco, cloth and coats, rum and cigars - they all were built deep in the West to prevent the Royal Expeditionary Force disembarking close to them during the War for Independence. It's much easier to secure just two ports instead of the eight. Especially, since all the other colonies, their economy and population were "presented" by the other powers.
What was done almost instantly after establishing the first colonies and doing the tricks with the fountains of youth and tools trade in Europe (I'll tell the details below), was sending two dragoon units to that narrow neckland where the Mexican states of Oaxaca and Veracruz are located in our own world. This was done to prevent any wandering French, English or Dutch entering North America, building colonies there or blocking ways around Spanish colonies in North America. In this game the Dutch began threatening to declare independence quite early - around 1630, if I remember it correctly. By that moment I had about 12 dragoon units (not all of them were yet trained), a few artillery batteries and two galleons. But the recon said that the Dutch colonies were located somewhere in Uruguay and Argentina, so I finished the minimal preparations and sent the troops south.
The calculation was correct and I prevented them from declaring independence, but that worked for a short time - several turns later the story repeated, but the War of the Spanish Succession in Europe eliminated the Dutch colonies in New World and they all became English. Then both the French and English began to fight for the votes for indepence and this was the time I failed to stop them - too big territory, too few expeditionary troops, too fast progression towards independence. The extinct Tupi tribes on the screenshot - that's work of the English.. So, both the Republic of Quebec and the USA were established pretty soon. Turns later I pushed them both to southern Argentina and Chile taking almost everything from them, played through till Autumn 1799 and signed the declaration too. The war took 16 years (32 turns) without any colony losses. Continent Jorgezica - it sounds, doesn't it ;)?
So, here are some hints some of you might be unaware of.
  1. Fountains of youth. Located in the ancient ruins they provide rumors spreading in Europe that bring up to eight immigrant units per one fountain found. We need at least two (better three) of them to quickly built a colonial army. Invite Hernando de Soto) as soon as possible in the beginning of your game - he increases chances to find those fountains dramatically. Meanwhile, use scouts to collect gifts from the local tribes and find treasures in those ruins. Money will be needed shortly. Once two or three fountains are found and 12 to 16 colonists are ready to leave Europe, go to Europe (in your ship, not just by opening the screen) and equip each colonist unit with tools - they should still be cheap. This is one of the reasons to do it early in the game along with the increased chances to find fountains early in the game rather then doing it later. Once all the guys are equipped with tools, buy 1 ton of tools - each ton bought will increase the tools price by 1 gold ingot. Once again - it works brilliantly early in the game only. So, you'll need to buy 7-8 tons of tools to increase the price to 7-8 gold ingots per ton - after it the price won't increase anymore. Now sell the tools equipped by the immigrants and you'll get about 15 -17 thousands of gold ingots - a profit that will allow you to instantly buy muskets, horses and a galleon or two. Equip the guys with horses and muskets, order them to enter the ships and now you have your own colonial armed forces. Works in version 3.0 dd. February 7th, 1995.
  2. Overcoming the maximum unit count while restoring combat power of your troops. It's no secret that while fighting against the king, Continental dragoons may lose fights and their horses. Telling them to take new horses while the maximum units quantity limit is active makes them lose their Continental Army status and, if I'm not recalling it wrong, also, losing horses and muskets too (this part should be checked though). To prevent it, prepare a colony or two with the maximum population size (32 colonist units working in a colony). This colony or colonies should be your military replenishing centers where your wagons would bring horses and muskets from other colonies. In my game it was the colony of Quebec (look at the screenshots). Equipping new horses in a colony of maximum size prevents the game placing a Continental Army infantry unit into a city economical square like it does in the colonies that have not reached the maximum size yet.
  3. Don't eliminate Indians. One burnt Indian settlement brings about 4000 - 9500 of gold and decreases your final score by 5 points. Each thousand of gold increases it by 1 point. So, in order not to lose score, each burnt settlement should be bringing at least 5000 ingots of gold, but it doesn't happen. Contrary to this, an effective trade with them will bring you tens of thousands of gold during the game, numerous Indian converts working in your fields effectively increasing both your economy and your score. Thus hire Jesuit missionaries, establish missions wherever possible, invite Jean de Brebeuf) and later Pocahontas) to your Continental Congress to do it effectively. Entire colonies may be consisting of converts only who will work in your fields and sell goods to their own brethren - you will lose no time and no money while earning extea funds and securing your colonies from Indian raids for really long. Economically only the remote Indian settlemts you are not planning to trade with might be a "good" target for your military, indeed. Just because a one-time profit is better than none, but this is the matter of your ethics - are you ready to bring death and suffers to innocent people just for several thousands of gold ingots?.. It's up to you to decide.
  4. In order to fight effectively, Benjamin Franklin) should be a member of the Continental Congress and one or two scout units should always be near the colonies of other European powers. Bring your troops to an enemy colony, attack it until it falls or until its defenders begin to win. Then send your scout to talk to a mayor of their other colony and Franklin will make sure they'll offer peace. Wait for the next turn and attack again, then make peace again and repeat it until you achieve your goal. Franklin and scouts will save a lot of your troops.
  5. Use gold to make everyone constantly fight each other. It costs not that much in the middle of the game, but prevents other powers from building a huge military blocking everything around colonies. Pay, say, the French to declare war and fight the English. Arm and incite the local Indian tribes to attack the winning party (don't be afraid of them if you have Jesuit missions in their settlements and de Brebeuf and Pocahontas in your Congress). They all should be fighting each other constantly. Besiege and take the most populated colonies, be in peace with everyone in the center of chaos.
  6. Secure passes and straights. On the map of Americas there are two such strategic point - Mexican states of Oaxaca and Veracruz or Panama and the Brazillian cape Cabo Branco. This two points should be guarded by two dragoons and two frigates respectively to effectively secure any other European power sneaking into North America and into to the Caribbean both by land and by the sea.
  7. Establish two or three silver mining colonies early in the game. Let your silver miners excavate silver, transport it to your ports, but don't sell it in Europe untill the mines are depleted. Remember: the prices on silver are the highest only until you sell the first ton of it. Once you do it, they'll drop to 1/2 per ton very soon. Thus mine all the silver possible, load your galleons fully with it and sell it all simultaneously to Europe during a one-time transaction. Since silver replenishes very slowly in those mines while the prices on silver won't increase until the end of the game, you won't need those silver mining colonies at all after selling it, so don't develop those colonies, leave them once they become useless and teach your silver miners some other profession. You won't need their silver mining skills anymore.
Feel free to share own observations in the commentaries and let's discuss!

‘Meeting’ Could someone tell me what this means?
I failed one out of my four classes this semester. My grades were A A C F. I have a 3.0 GPA now because of the failed class. Only A’s and B’s all previous semesters. My Pell grant isn’t applying for my summer classes because of this I’m assuming? Do I need to attend a meeting or anything? I’ll call them on Monday but if anyone could give me an answer over the weekend so I stop stressing it would be awesome! Thank you!

2024.05.11 05:25 MarioMeza28 Neurological Implications of Bartonella and its variants: Muscle spasms, stiffness in hands, anxiety, depression, neurological problems.

INTRODUCTION Bartonella is a genus of bacteria that includes several different species. Bartonella henselae (the best known) is one of those specific species within the Bartonella genus. But it is not the only one, there are more, BARTONELLA KOEHLERAE that causes neurological problems such as muscle spasms, stomach cramps, stiffness in the hands, which I will talk about later in in documented cases.
BARTONELLA VINSONII BERKHOFFIII It has been suggested that this bacteria may be associated with peripheral neuropathy, meningitis, encephalitis and in rare cases Guillain-Barré syndrome.
BARTONELLA AND ITS VARIANTS.
BARTONELLA HENSELAO (BARTONELLOSIS):
BARTONELLA HENSELAO can be transmitted to humans through:
-Scratches or bites from infected cats.
-Contact with the saliva or secretions of infected cats.
-Infected flea bites.
-Blood transfusion.
Fleas can transmit other diseases such as bartonellosis, caused by the bacteria Bartonella henselae, which can cause symptoms similar to Lyme disease, such as fever, fatigue, and muscle aches. Bartonellosis, caused by the bacteria Bartonella henselae, is generally not associated with long-term neurological problems like Lyme disease. While Lyme disease can cause neurological complications, such as peripheral neuropathy, meningitis or encephalitis, bartonellosis tends to produce milder, more localized symptoms. However, in rare and severe cases of bartonellosis, especially in people with compromised immune systems, neurological complications such as encephalitis or inflammation of the brain have been reported. But in general, serious neurological complications are much more common in Lyme disease than in bartonellosis. We cannot completely rule out the possibility that bartonellosis is related to fasciculations or other neurological problems, as any bacterial infection has the potential to cause neurological symptoms in certain cases. If bartonellosis is not treated properly, serious complications can arise, especially in people with weakened immune systems or those who have a more severe infection. -Cardiac complications, such as endocarditis (infection of the inner lining of the heart) in severe cases. -Severe illness in people with compromised immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS or who are receiving immunosuppressive treatment. -Ocular complications, such as uveitis (inflammation of the uveal tract of the eye) or neuroretinitis (inflammation of the retina and optic nerve). -Central nervous system involvement in rare and severe cases, including encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) or meningitis (inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord). In rare cases where bartonellosis affects the nervous system, various neurological problems can occur in the short, medium and long term. Some of these problems may include: -Peripheral neuropathy: Damage to the peripheral nerves that can cause symptoms such as numbness, tingling, muscle weakness, and pain in the extremities. -Meningitis: Inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, which can cause symptoms such as severe headache, stiff neck, fever, and sensitivity to light. -Encephalitis: Inflammation of the brain that can cause serious symptoms, such as confusion, altered mental status, seizures, muscle weakness, and coordination problems. -Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS): In some rare cases, bartonellosis can trigger Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune disease that affects peripheral nerves and can cause progressive muscle weakness, paralysis and even life-threatening breathing problems. It is important to note that these neurological problems are rare in cases of bartonellosis and that most people recover completely with appropriate antibiotic treatment. It is possible, although rare, that in rare cases flea-borne bartonellosis may cause neurological problems such as peripheral neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the peripheral nerves that can cause symptoms such as numbness, tingling, muscle weakness, and pain in the extremities. BARTONELLA KOEHLERAE:
Bartonella koehlerae can be transmitted to humans through:
-Infected flea bites.
-Scratches or bites from infected cats.
-Blood transfusion.
Now, in the studies that I have analyzed, I have found that the Bartonella genus has species or variants, such as Bartonella koehlerae or Bartonella vinsonii berkhoffii, that can cause neurological problems. The scientific article highlights that Bartonella is a vector-borne zoonotic disease with worldwide distribution that can infect humans and a wide variety of mammals, including small pets such as cats and dogs. https://journals.asm.org/doi/full/10.1128/jcm.00833-11 It is mentioned that in recent years there has been an increase in studies on Bartonella infections in various parts of the world, although most publications have focused on the North American perspective. Additionally, information is provided on clinically relevant Bartonella species in cats and dogs, as well as their primary reservoirs, incidental hosts, and confirmed or suspected vectors. Several Bartonella species, such as B. clarridgeiae, B. elizabethae, B. henselae, B. koehlerae, B. quintana, B. rochalimae, and B. vinsonii berkhoffii, are reported to be associated with serious disease in cats and dogs, and all They have zoonotic potential. The diversity of Bartonella species is addressed and the clinical manifestations they can cause in cats, dogs and humans are discussed, including intermittent fever, granulomatous inflammation in different organs, endocarditis, bacillary angiomatosis, peliosis hepatis, uveitis and vasoproliferative tumors. The importance of research to confirm or rule out Bartonella infection as a cause of various diseases in cats and dogs is emphasized. It is mentioned that several species of Bartonella have the ability to infect humans, cats and dogs, and that transmission can occur through a variety of vectors, such as fleas, ticks and lice. Additionally, the role of cats as major reservoirs of B. henselae, the causal agent of cat scratch disease in humans, is discussed. It is noted that cats may also be reservoirs for other Bartonella species, such as B. clarridgeiae and B. koehlerae, although their role in the epidemiology of these species is not completely established. CASE: Hallucinations, Sensory Neuropathy, and Peripheral Visual Deficits in a Young Woman Infected with Bartonella koehlerae MUSCLE SPASMS, ANXIETY, STIFFNESS IN THE HANDS; BARTONELLA KOEHLERAE
“Abstract A young woman experiencing depression, anxiety, mood swings, severe headaches, muscle spasms, interphalangeal joint stiffness, decreased peripheral vision, diminished tactile sensation, and hallucinations was persistently Bartonella koehlerae seroreactive and bacteremic. Following antibiotic treatment, B. koehlerae antibodies and DNA were not detected and all symptoms resolved. An 18-year-old female was sequentially examined by a neurologist, psychiatrist, neuro-ophthalmologist, and infectious disease physician because of a 4-year history of slowly progressive neurological and neurocognitive abnormalities. Biopsy-proven celiac disease was diagnosed in December 2004, following complaints of frequent stomach cramps. Despite dietary control of gastrointestinal symptoms, she developed intermittent joint pain, primarily involving the ankles. During 2005, the patient reported reduced tactile sensation in her hands and by 2007 frequent severe headaches, back pain, generalized muscle spasms, and an inability to extend her fingers due to stiffness in her proximal and distal interphalangeal joints. “ American Society for Microbiology https://journals.asm.org/doi/full/10.1128/jcm.00833-11 With this case we can definitively verify that Bartonella and its variants can cause neurological problems. In this case, B. koehlerae and This bacteria can be commonly found in fleas that infest cats, so transmission through the bites of infected fleas is a possible route. Also at the same time, the girl's case proves that not even neurologists, psychiatrists, neuro-ophthalmologists, and infectious disease physicians can't understand what is really happening, and they only throw it into the bucket of "anxiety."
“The patient's psychiatrist addressed her anxiety with cognitive behavioral therapy and prescribed oxcarbazepine (300 mg twice daily) and quetiapine fumarate (300 mg in the evening), which reduced hallucination frequency to less than once daily.” It is possible for humans to become infected with Bartonella koehlerae through the bites of infected cat fleas. Fleas are common vectors for transmitting bacteria of the Bartonella genus, including Bartonella koehlerae. Table 2 presents clinical-epidemiological studies on Bartonella spp. involving cats in Europe. For example, it is shown that in Italy, studies have been carried out in different regions, such as Tuscany, Sicily, Sardinia and the Aeolian Islands, with variations in the prevalence of Bartonella spp. among the cats studied. Furthermore, it is observed that in Spain, several studies have been carried out in different areas such as Barcelona, Madrid and Rioja, with a wide range of prevalences of Bartonella spp. in cats. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6280416/#CR24 Table 4 shows the global distribution of Bartonella spp. in cats and highlight the importance of understanding the epidemiology of these infections in different regions of the world. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6280416/#CR24 Bartonella exposure or infection in cats has been widely studied throughout the world, as seen in the tables provided. “The annual number of human cases of CSD in the USA is estimated to be 12,000 outpatients and 500 inpatients [101].” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5038427/ Currently, dogs appear to be incidental hosts rather than reservoir hosts for B. henselae, supported by the fact that this is the most frequently documented Bartonella species detected in sick dogs [128]. CASE TREATMENT. “With repeated PCR documentation of B. koehlerae bacteremia, the patient was treated with rifampin (300 mg twice daily) and azithromycin (250 mg/day) for an additional 4 months. Following this treatment regimen, her hallucinations stopped completely, and normal peripheral vision was confirmed by visual field perimetry in November 2010. The quetiapine fumarate dosage was gradually decreased, and hallucinations and dissociative episodes have not returned. B. koehlerae antibodies were not detected in August and September 2010 and January and March 2011 (Table 1). With the exception of a single 7-day BAPGM enrichment culture PCR result (January 2011), for which the amplicon could not be successfully sequenced, Bartonella sp. DNA was not amplified from blood, serum, or enrichment blood cultures (n = 31 independent PCRs) following the 4-month treatment regimen. During the 9-month posttreatment follow-up period, the patient has experienced no hallucinations, peripheral vision has remained normal, and tactile sensation has improved substantially. Family members reported that the patient was much improved and had returned to her preinfection baseline, both neurologically and psychiatrically.” https://journals.asm.org/doi/full/10.1128/jcm.00833-11 BARTONELLA VINSONII BERKHOFFII
B. vinsonii subsp. berkhoffii has been associated with neurological problems in humans and animals. Like other Bartonella species, this bacteria can cause a variety of neurological symptoms in cases of infection. Some of these symptoms may include peripheral neuropathy, meningitis, encephalitis, and Guillain-Barré syndrome. Bartonella vinsonii berkhoffii can be transmitted to humans through:
-Bites or scratches from infected animals.
-Blood transfusion
-Infected tick bites.
-(It has been suggested that fleas could potentially act as transmission vectors for Bartonella vinsonii berkhoffii, fleas are known vectors for the transmission of bacteria of the Bartonella genus. However, as research into the transmission of Bartonella vinsonii berkhoffii is still ongoing, More study is needed to fully understand the role of fleas in transmitting this specific bacteria.)
CASE: Bartonella vinsonii subsp. berkhoffii and Bartonella henselae bacteremia in a father and daughter with neurological disease
Symptoms included progressive weight loss, muscle weakness, lack of coordination (the father) and headaches, muscle pain and insomnia (the daughter). "The father was a 50-year-old veterinarian whose symptoms began in 2006 with arthralgias and fatigue, which progressively worsened over the next 18 months. He described joint, muscle, and neck pain and stiffness that was most severe in the morning but improved throughout the day."
"The above patient's 7½-year-old daughter first sought medical attention for a similar constellation of symptoms in October 2007. Her illness began suddenly one morning with severe neck pain. Over the next month, the pain gradually improved, but it never completely subsided, and she also developed headaches, low-grade fevers, and general malaise. Her symptoms evolved to include intermittent weakness of her legs and paresthesias, which were so debilitating that she could no longer attend school."
Conclusions of the case:
B. vinsonii subsp. berkhoffii and B. henselae are zoonotic pathogens that can be isolated from the blood of immunocompetent relatives with arthralgia, fatigue, and neurological symptoms. The therapeutic elimination of Bartonella spp. can be challenging, and follow-up testing is recommended. An increasing number of arthropod vectors, such as biting flies, fleas, keds, lice, sandflies, and ticks, have been confirmed or suspected to be the primary mode of transmission of Bartonella species among animal populations and may also be a potential source of infection. risk to humans.
SUMMARY Bartonellosis, caused by the bacteria Bartonella henselae and transmitted by fleas, can cause symptoms similar to Lyme disease, such as fever, fatigue, and muscle aches. Although bartonellosis usually does not cause serious neurological problems, in rare and severe cases, especially in people with compromised immune systems, complications such as encephalitis or inflammation of the brain can arise. Additionally, Bartonella variants such as Bartonella koehlerae can cause neurological problems such as depression, anxiety, muscle spasms, and hand stiffness. These cases can be difficult to diagnose and are often misinterpreted as psychiatric disorders due to a lack of awareness about the relationship between Bartonella infection and neurological symptoms. Cats are primary hosts of Bartonella henselae and other Bartonella species, and fleas that infest cats can transmit these bacteria to humans through bites. Additionally, dogs can be accidental hosts of Bartonella, although less commonly than cats. Treatment of bartonellosis and its variants generally involves the use of specific antibiotics, such as rifampicin and azithromycin, and can lead to significant improvement in neurological symptoms when administered appropriately. It is crucial that doctors consider the possibility of Bartonella infection in patients with unexplained neurological symptoms, especially if they have had exposure to fleas or cats. MY COMMENT We can make it clear that anything that can touch the nervous system will cause permanent or temporary damage, even very long-lasting. We can also see that doctors, like the neurologist, acted without knowing what the patient had, always giving the diagnosis of anxiety.

2024.05.11 05:18 thecoldbank How important is social status to you? How you guys maintaining it?

nowadays all I see is most of them people trying their best to prove the society that they are something very special.
They are purchasing expensive cars, big houses, posting about exotic vacations and so on. They just want to prove that they are higher in social hierarchy or status.
And it's very sad how everyone in the society treats you based on your social status. For example, If you have a Ferrari you are definitely going to be treated way nicely and respectfully everywhere you go than If you have a Toyota.
I really want to know how you guys maintaining your social status? How important is it to you?

2024.05.11 05:12 gecko927 My rant about Scott Galloway's TED talk about how the US is destroying young people's future

DISCLAIMER: I'd like to note that I do not consider myself an expert on many of the topics he talks about or even economics in general but a lot of what I'm about to say is pretty easily verifiable and basic, and I'll try to be clear that I'm expressing my opinion and not fact when I'm doing so. Given my lack of expertise, none of what I say here should be considered as the final authority on these topics, it's a reddit post for fucks sake, I encourage everyone to search up the relevant data and information on the topics they are interested in or claims they find dubious. It's really not that hard and all the links and data I'm gonna cite here took me less than five minutes to find for each piece of information. If you're not familiar with where to find this data it might take you longer but I promise that anyone with access to the internet can do the same thing I'm doing. Finally, for those looking for some opinionless, academic argument, that's not what this is, this is gonna sound like a rant because it is, I'm posting this for nothing more than my own satisfaction, take from it what you will.
Ok I'm writing this after I finished the whole thing and I said that I'll try to be clear that I'm expressing my opinion and not fact when I'm doing so and the basically entire second half of this is my opinion and I don't make that very clear so sorry about that.
Honestly I'd love to be wrong because I really do think that younger people are at a disadvantage compared to previous generations at the same age but the arguments he makes and the data he uses throughout his talk just sound like such bullshit to me.
https://www.ted.com/talks/scott\_galloway\_how\_the\_us\_is\_destroying\_young\_people\_s\_future?
https://www.profgalloway.com/war-on-the-young/
Scott Galloway recently did a Ted talk titled "How the US is destroying young people's future", as well as an accompanying blog post. He's made some fair points about how young people have been put at an inherent disadvantage and that they have it harder than previous generations. That's most likely true and I personally support that point of view, but the a lot data and numbers he makes this argument with seem to be cherry picked, misleading, or just straight up wrong. So let's break his talk down. u/JustTaxLandLol made a pretty good post about him comparing median wages to the S\&P500 (https://www.reddit.com/badeconomics/comments/1cc3rs8/scott\_galloway\_compares\_median\_wage\_to\_sp500/) but I think that Galloway's mistakes are much more comprehensive than just that particular slide.
The first slide with data makes a claim about how pre-tax income, adjusted for inflation, has decreased across generations from grandparents to parents to kids, and that cost of public colleges and home prices have increased significantly across generations too. First of all, categorising generations by whether they have children or grandchildren is kinda nuts. That's a very wide, overlapping, range of ages. If he actually has fixed age ranges set for each generation that don't overlap and has just made these categorisations for the sake of understandability to a nonacademic audience, I still think that's the wrong choice but fine. However, his claim that real income has decreased across generations is weak at best. This working paper (https://www.federalreserve.gov/econres/feds/files/2024007pap.pdf) from the Fed Reserve was published February 2024, and from the figures that start at page 35, shows that by almost every categorisation they could think of, GenZ earns more at the same age than every previous generation before them. There's some conflict here with Raj Chetty's work but I don't have the time or knowledge to reconcile the two perspectives but at best, the pre-tax income numbers Galloway presents are questionable at best. Furthermore, he doesn't provide anyone a chance at even checking the sources he gets this information from. Not once in his entire talk does he cite a single source. He couldn't even have some tiny text at the bottom of his tables or diagrams saying what organisation he got this data from. Ok so that crossed out bit is wrong, he does have sources they're just very very faint and you can see them if you squint hard enough at the bottom left corner of his graphs. But the source he gives for this slide is a joke. Here's the link https://www.profgalloway.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Table-01.png
His "source" is his own analysis. Ok so by his analysis, the average cost of public college is 56000*0.43 = 24080. I'm gonna use numbers from this US News page *https://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/paying-for-college/articles/paying-for-college-infographic), which might not be the most reliable source in the world, but it's probably somewhere in the ballpark. So according to US News, average tuition for the 2023-2024 school year for out of state students going to a public school is 23,630 and 10,662 for in state students. If these numbers are anywhere near accurate, the only conclusion I can draw is that Galloway has cherry-picked his data by only including the cost for out of state students in his analysis. First of all, public schools in the US are there to provide affordable access to higher education FOR RESIDENTS OF ITS STATE. Using only out of state numbers is absolutely ridiculous. Secondly, even if he used only the in state numbers, 10662/56000 is approximately equal to 19%. So if I use his very very questionable pre-tax income numbers, cost of public college for in state students has still increased across his categorisation of generations. It's not like his point would have been invalidated if he had used the in-state numbers, a trend of tuition increasing as a percentage of real income across multiple generations is still very bad. This is my opinion but I guess that he just wanted to find a nice shocking number. I didn't catch this but in their post, u/JustTaxLandLol notes that later on Galloway says "real median income from labor is up 40% since 1974" so he's also contradicting himself in the same talk.
I couldn't be bothered to look into the house price to income column he has so I don't have any comments on that.
His next slide is a point about how the percentage of 30 year olds earning more than their parents did at 30 has been decreasing very significantly over time. This is from a paper in 2016 by Raj Chetty (link: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.aal4617). I've seen some counterarguments about the methods used in the paper but there are counterarguments for basically every inequality paper in existence so I'd take them with a grain of salt. Those points are more complex than the scope of this post and I lack the expertise to be making them anyways so I believe this slide. I'll admit that Galloway makes a good argument for this slide.
Right after this slide he says "As a result, people over the age of 55 feel pretty good about America, but less than one in five people under the age of 34 feel very good about America. This creates an incendiary, righteous movement...". He supports this with data on the percentage of US adults who feel "extremely proud" to be American.
Before I talk about the data on this slide, I'd like to be a little anal about things and pick apart his wording and causal claims he makes. This paragraph is my opinion so skip if you want. When Galloway says "as a result" he's making a causal claim about the relationship between a young person's earning ability and their national pride. Leaving aside the econometric issues of making random causal claims, this is a ridiculous marginalisation of all the other critically important issues in the US. It seems pretty clear to me that reduced national pride amongst younger individuals is a combination of a lack of social mobility (or however you want to word your version of the fading American dream), the continued existence of systematic racism and sexism, US response to ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, bodily autonomy (abortion), and many more other issues. Not to say that the economic disadvantages of young people doesn't play a role in causing this lack of national pride but come on. He also says "this creates an incendiary righteous movement...". Ok if the "as a result" from the last sentence could be interpreted as the economic disadvantages of young people play some part in their dissatisfaction with the government, it should be obvious to anyone not living under a rock that many of the political conflicts and movements that have erupted in the US over the past few years have little, if anything, to do with earning ability. In the slide after the poll data he shows three photos, one of a MeToo protest, one of a BLM protest, and another of a pro-Palestine protest. I can only interpret this as him making the claim that the younger generations economic difficulties are causally linked to those movements, which is totally bananas.
Now lets talk about the data. He got this from the Gallup polls (link: https://news.gallup.com/poll/394202/record-low-extremely-proud-american.aspx, there's a link to download the pdf with the poll numbers at the end of this article). There are 5 options for the Gallup poll: "Extremely proud"; "Very proud"; "Moderately proud"; "Only a little proud"; or "Not at all proud". So Galloway is cherry-picking again. To be fair, it's true that even including the rest of the answers, a quick glance at the data suggests (very strongly) that young people are less proud than older people. There are also more young people who choose "Not at all proud" (11% for 18-34 and 1% for 55+). Though there is probably some argument to be made about whether "extreme" pride is a good thing. I know I should probably keep my issues with the specific wording in the previous paragraph and this is me being too strict but "pretty good" and "very good" do not reflect the extremity of choosing, well, the most extreme option.
I think the next two paragraphs are the weakest criticism I have of this talk so I'd very much appreciate it if someone could corroborate or refute me here. As an introduction to his next slide he says that "a decent proxy for how much we value youth labor is minimum wage". I've never heard of this before and am very very skeptical but I'm willing to attribute this to my own ignorance so I'll leave that sentence alone. I'll also admit that I've never learned much about the effects of minimum wage so most of this paragraph will be my opinion. So on this slide there's a graph with two lines, one is minimum wage across time adjusted for inflation, the other is whats supposed to be minimum wage if adjusted for productivity (also adjusted to inflation I assume). Galloway got this data form the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) (https://www.epi.org/productivity-pay-gap/), which shows that this gap between productivity began around 1979. This was when Carter was president and right before the Reagan administration. Those who know about the economic history of this time probably won't be surprised since a lot of the policies of this time were rather inegalitarian and heavily favoured the wealthy. I agree that many of the policies of the time contributed heavily to the inequality America faces today and though I haven't read any studies about how this affects minimum wage workers, I believe that minimum wage workers or low income workers in general today have significantly lower purchasing relative to a few decades ago.
What I have a problem with here is the idea that productivity and minimum wage should increase in tandem. According to the EPI, "Productivity measures how much total economywide income is generated (i.e., for workers, business owners, landlords, and everybody else together) in an average hour of work" and "pay is defined as the average compensation (wages and benefits) of production and nonsupervisory workers. The pay for this group is one appropriate benchmark for 'typical worker pay' because production and nonsupervisory workers have made up roughly 80% of the U.S. workforce over the entire period shown in the figure and because the data for production and nonsupervisory workers exclude extremely highly paid managerial workers like CEOs and other corporate executives". Before I try to break down my complaints with the measures used, my immediate reaction when I saw this was that it seems rather stupid to compare the relationship between average productivity and minimum wage in an industrial economy against the same relationship in a service oriented one. There are just more jobs now that let you make an impact on the economy far beyond what you are paid and it is so so difficult to quantify this change. Using a similar argument, I really have no clue how macro people make models or do estimates for things like productivity but I'm quite skeptical about the reliability of using such a measure of productivity because of the increased prevalence of second, third, or n-th order effects that would be present in a measure of something like total gdp but pretty much impossible to identify for any employer. For those who want to read more about this difference between productivity and compensation I think this is the most relevant paper from EPI (https://files.epi.org/2015/understanding-productivity-pay-divergence-final.pdf). There are some points I'm not satisfied with in this paper like them attributing the entirety of the difference between median hourly compensation to average consumer hourly compensation but that would take more time than I want to spend on this.
Now we're still on the same slide and what I'm about to say is still just my opinion but I think it's not as weak as the last two paragraphs. Galloway says "we've kept it [minimum wage] purposely pretty low" twice in three sentences. Now he's suggesting that there's some collective out there that has the political power and desire to keep minimum wage low. By "we" I think he means to suggest that the old-timers have banded together to screw the young people over. Ok buddy. I'm stepping outside the bounds of what's considered strictly economics here a little but pinning the injustices of society on some ethereal enemy whose existence can never be disproven is the same as taking "advantage of the flaws in our species with medieval institutions, Paleolithic instincts, and godlike technology" (Galloway's words, same TED talk) to me. Maybe there really is some cabal of scheming geezers out there who have some twisted desire to keep the minimum wage low, but I'm more inclined to believe that a lot of these "injustices" are a result of our existing political and societal institutions being poor and inefficient aggregators of our desires as a society, rewarding selfishness instead of cooperation. This certainly makes the problem harder to solve than if there were just some evil 'others' we could get rid of and be done with. Having a target to direct our outrage at, believing that I am good and they are bad, is easier than facing the reality that everyone is born with the selfishness that creates the injustices we live with but that's not gonna make people more agreeable. As an economist, I study the theory of incentives to use the same human selfishness that creates all the problems Galloway talks about to create solutions that hopefully improve our quality of life. This is what I believe is the beauty of being human, all the good and bad that happens stem from the same desires, it is our job to create institutions and systems that allow us to channel our desires in a way that benefits everyone, but I digress. The point is, this enemy that Galloway creates is an effective tactic at convincing people of his argument, but I don't believe such a perspective benefits society at all. Mistakes should be corrected, that doesn't mean they're always the result of ill intentions.
His next slide compares the difference between percentage increase in median household income against percentage increase in median home price, as well as a comparison of the median monthly mortgage between 2019 and 2024. I have nothing to say about the graph, I agree that over time, home prices have increased to an unacceptable level . The Fed funds rate went from 2.4 percent in Feb 2019 to 5.33 percent in Feb 2024 (https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/fedfunds). To his credit, Galloway does attribute this increase in mortgage payments to "an acceleration in interest rates" but what's the alternative? Don't increase interest rates? Then if I was Galloway I'd make the same TED talk and talk about how the continued low interest rates contributed to rampant inflation that made all the poor people even poorer. This is my opinion again but it seems like he's decided to take whatever bad economic event that seems somewhat relevant and made it to be the result of some group's dogged determination to keep the younger generation down. Why is the increase from pre- to post-covid prices on anything surprising. I'd like to meet the genius who saw covid coming and intentionally created this increase in home prices.
He also says "the most expensive homes in the world, based on this metric, are number three, Vancouver. Why? Because 60 percent of the cost of building a home goes to permits...". I have no idea what point he's making here. Based on what metric, median home price? Monthly mortgage payments? Why do I care about Vancouver, a Canadian city, being number three? Then he talks about how "the incumbents that own assets have weaponized government". Either he's switched to talking about oligopolistic lobbyists in general without saying so or he's still talking about Canada. I dunno. Someone please explain. Then he says "this is the transfer I'm going to be speaking about". Again, I'm being a bit picky with wording here but everything he just said is talking about how there exists a group of people trying to PREVENT transfers of wealth to new entrants. And there was huge applause after that sentence. Nutsos, all of them.
Ok next slide. Galloway presents two pie charts, comparing the share of household wealth by age in 1989 to 2023. So he's talking directly about inequality in wealth now. Inequality in the US is really really bad, that's a fact. I'm a big fan of the work of Emmanuel Saez, Gabriel Zucman, and Thomas Piketty. These people have been at the forefront of research on inequality for many years now and though there work is not flawless, I'm convinced by the data they present and the methods by which they have aggregated the data and what they show is that inequality is worse than even what the pie charts Galloway presents suggest. However, this is not to say that this is a valid argument. Please note the grey bits in the pie chart. If Galloway has shown the numbers for everyone under 40 and above 70, the group that's excluded are those between 40 and 70. So those in the age range of 40-70 owned 100 - 19 - 12 = 69% of household wealth in 1989 and 100 - 30 - 7 = 63% in 2023. I could probably go and find how the age demographics of the population have changed over time and I think that with declining birth rates, the percentage change in age demographics would be pretty close to the percentage change in household wealth but I'm tired of beating every slide to death so I'll leave that to someone else if anyone's motivated enough to do that (if my hypothesis is wrong here just comment and I'll make that change). My first thought when I saw this though was again, this guy has paid no regard to structural change in society. Given the increased accessibility of buying stocks over the past three decades is it really that surprising that older people who have had more time and cash at the start of the digital age to invest in companies that are now massive mega-corporations. This is not to say that none of this change in the share of wealth held by those under 40 is due to some inherent unfairness in our society and I have neither the time nor knowledge to separate these effects out but to say that this was a "purposeful" effort to cut their wealth in half is complete and utter bullshit. Also, this guy makes another causal claim WITH NOTHING BUT A CHANGE IN SHARE OF HOUSEHOLD WEALTH. Congratulations everyone Scott Galloway has just made every econometrician in the world redundant, I always knew my professors were just trying to confuse me with funny symbols and Greek letters, someone get this guy a Nobel Prize.
Then while introducing his next slide Galloway says that his analyst's presence in the audience "brings the average age of the entire conference down in 11 days". So he's saying that TED knows exactly who's showing up to their event before it happens and that they have the exact birthdates of everyone in the audience too and that they've given this information to one of their speakers. A friend of mine has told me he's just making a joke and that I should let this point go because I'm being too anal about things but yeah I become anal about things when someone suggests sweeping institutional changes in a talk viewed by millions of people so thought I'd include it anyways just as another example of the bullshit this guy has been spewing.
When he moves on to the actual content in the slide the first point he makes is about lower acceptance rates in schools. So I don't have data on this because I couldn't be bothered to go find any so again, I'll change my statement if anyone has reliable data indicating otherwise but I think its pretty safe to say that way less people used to apply than before and combined with an increase in international student applications and enrollments the competition is just way higher than before. The most obvious explanation would be that higher education institutions have made the mistake of not increasing enrollments at a rate quick enough to meet demand. However, according to US News (https://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/articles/how-many-universities-are-in-the-us-and-why-that-number-is-changing) there were 3982 degree-granting postsecondary institutions in the US. and UCLA is ranked 15th in national universities. So why is it surprising now that university education is becoming more popular that higher ranked universities are harder to get into. So instead of expanding enrollment I think that a well thought out plan of affirmative action would be a much better option of giving "unremarkable kids and giving them a shot at being remarkable" (what this well thought out plan may be I don't know, I honestly didn't even search up any statistics about affirmative action this was just the first solution I thought of that didn't involve ignoring the crowning achievement of statistics). To his credit, Galloway does include a point about income-based affirmative action at the end of his talk, though he overwhelmingly emphasises increasing enrollment in schools. I don't have any data about that but I think that class sizes at public universities are large enough as it is.
The rest of the slide gives numbers on college debt of house price compared to first year income. College debt is ridiculously high and many people struggle because of it. I don't have the solution and neither does Galloway because he doesn't really mention it. I think that house price-to-first year income is a poor comparison because it doesn't take into account average rate of income increase and no normal person from any generation is looking to buy a house with first year income but there's probably a more appropriate metric out there that shows a similar change anyways so I'm ok with that.
Then he talks about him and his "colleagues" who "artificially constrain supply to create aspiration and scarcity". I would like to meet the professors who have control over enrollment rates because none of mine did. Then he says "to my colleagues in higher ed: we're public servants, not fucking Chanel bags". The marketing professor from NYU says he's a public servant...ok.
The slide after that compares Harvard's increase in endowment compared to their increase in enrollment and he calls them a "hedge fund offering classes". I see no issue with this point, he made a great argument, can't really criticise anything here.
Don't worry though he makes up for it by immediately making one of the most egregious statements in this whole talk. We're looking at his next slide, the one titled "Grand Bargain" now. He says that the government should take some of the money that's supposed to be used to forgive existing loans to about 500 of the top public universities to reduce tuition by 2% and year, expand enrollments by 6% a year, and increase vocational programs to 20% of the degrees granted. Then the slide after that, claims this will double freshman seats and cut costs in half in just 10 years. Ok so he thinks that most of the money "earmarked to bail out the one third of people that got to go to college on the backs of the two thirds that didn't" should go to future students instead because, I assume from the tone of his words, he doesn't think they need or deserve all that loan forgiveness. So why bring up the increase in college debt previously (the slide I talked about three paragraphs ago)? Anyways that's not the crazy thing. Let's see what happens if you reduce tuition by 2% a year for 10 years. So the calculation goes like this 0.98^{10} is approximately equal to 0.81. So with the number he puts up, tuition decreases by 19% in ten years. If everything before this slide could be attributed to cherry-picking, stupidity, or lack of good data, then fine he's just ignorant even though he shouldn't have been if he went up there to make that talk. But now this is just a FUCKING BAREFACED LIE. I cannot think of a greater insult to the audience's intelligence than the fact that this guy didn't think anyone would pull out a fucking calculator and do the calculation themselves. I won't blame the audience for not saying anything because I'm not sure I would have wanted to do that either but at least from youtube and reddit comments there are a decent number of people who didn't realise this. A similar calculation shows that expanding enrollment by 6% per year increases seats by about 80% total (1.06^{10}). Not sure how that translates in terms of freshman seats but at least this is closer than the tuition claim.
Then his next slide compares wages to the s&p500. This is the point of u/JustTaxLandLol's post and I think his post and the discussion in the comments covers most if not all of my thoughts so you can just read that. https://www.reddit.com/badeconomics/comments/1cc3rs8/scott_galloway_compares_median_wage_to_sp500/
Ok next slide, "The Transfer: Purposeful". Oh yay he's about to make another causal claim with nothing but a graph on the change in top marginal tax rates for corporations and individuals. And if we skip ahead to the next slide we'll realise that this claim is that the gradual decrease in top marginal tax rates for corporations and individuals results in lowered senior poverty and child poverty either remains constant or increases. Yes everybody the newest advancement in economic research has just been released. Lowering top tax rates decreases senior poverty and increases child poverty. And Scott Galloway made that argument in 24 seconds (transcript on TED website has time markers).
Man I really set out with the intention to keep the tone of this post as neutral as I could but I'm just writing out my internal dialogue with less swearing now. I apologise to those who would have preferred a more careful and less emotional knee-jerk response of an analysis but this is a reddit post, its not like there are standards.
Now he moves on to talking about social security. Galloway says "it would cost 11 billion dollars to expand the child tax credit. But that gets stripped out of the infrastructure bill". So zero explanation about why it would cost 11 billion dollars to expand the child tax credit, why not more or less, no comment about how many children it would affect, how much money it would mean for each child or family, just some number that you have to accept. Most of the time there's no why to the amount of funding that the government allocates to policies but at least there's some breakdown to how its going to be used, Galloway doesn't even have that. This is before we even consider the fact that child tax credit was expanded this year (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/child-tax-credit-2024-who-qualifies/). Maybe he's talking about some other issue that I'm not aware of but I don't think so. He says he got the social security spending data from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which is a think tank. So I'll admit I didn't know much about social security prior to listening to Galloway's talk and I don't want to sort through their website to fact check so I'll accept it as the truth but as far as I know the actual social security administration releases their facts and figures for the year August of next year so I'm not sure why he didn't just use the 2022 numbers from a more reliable source.
His next few couple slides are about the increasing age of politicians. I think this is a great point but he probably should have used a better example of a younger politician than Justin Trudeau.
Then at around the 10 minute mark, using his slide titled "Generational Theft", Galloway claims that "we pumped the economy" during covid so that the Nasdaq would gain value, causing "intergenerational theft". I don't know if he thinks it was intentional or not but how is he going to completely ignore the fact that the stimulus checks were primarily for households that were struggling due to the greatest unemployment rate we have seen in our lifetime (https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2020/06/11/unemployment-rose-higher-in-three-months-of-covid-19-than-it-did-in-two-years-of-the-great-recession/). I'm really kind of tired of this so I'll let those at the CBR make my argument for me. "Within the first 10 days, households spent an average of 29 cents from every dollar received. The bulk of this spending was on food, rent, and bills" (https://www.chicagobooth.edu/review/how-effective-were-stimulus-checks-us). Damn so turns out struggling families did need these stimulus checks pretty urgently. Shocker. I also think that most people in finance would agree that tech stocks surged over covid because people needed fucking technology... People built PCs to play video games, used online shopping services because they couldn't go to malls, all that.
The next slide is supposed to support his point that the increase in stock prices doesn't allow young people to find "disruption". What. The only thing that matters to any investor is the percentage increase in value of the stock price after you've invested. It doesn't matter if 7 dollars is 1 share of apple or 0.04 of a share of apple. Its stock price going up by 100% means you get 14 dollars either way. I think this guy's arguments are getting dumber as the talk goes on, I actually had to go and find data to refute his points earlier on. Now arithmetic does the work for me, I should have hired a grade schooler to do my analysis.
His next point is about how algorithmic content selection is bad. Yeah its bad. Its bad for everyone, turns everyone into psychos. Though I think there's a very good argument to be made about how such content could affect developing brains. He makes a point about age-gating social media at the end of the talk. This is actually the only drastic measure he proposes that I agree with so I'll leave this alone too.
After a couple slides about Zuckerberg and TikTok (which I agree with, though I think Zuckerberg's damage probably leans more towards older people than young now), he gives a bunch of graphs showing upward trends in all sorts of terrible things happening to young people. Every single one is an issue of critical importance in the US, but importantly, no comparison to older people. For all we know, the trend on every graph could be the same or even worse for older generations. If I had written about this first then I'd go and find the data for it but at this point I just want to be done with this but can't stop without getting to the end so I'm just gonna slap this slide with lack of comparisons and move on.
His next slide shows the difference in 30 to 34 year olds who have at least one child, some of that is probably due to family planning but I still think its a great indicator of people not wanting to have children because its not affordable. Great point, I believe in it.
Next slide, oh god it's a happiness report. I think happiness reports are a fun conversational tidbit but I see no way for it to be reliable enough to be used as an argument in any semi-serious setting. That said, I have no idea how they do these measurements so maybe I'm wrong.
As if the happiness report wasn't bad enough, Galloway is gonna compare the biggest one-day market cap gain (in an unspecified time frame) to the budget of several policies implemented by the government. Oh man. This is too stupid, there's so many things to pick from it'd take too much effort to sort through them. Someone else please make the argument for me.
Then he says universal basic income should have been called negative income tax. Wow the frequency of good points is going up, though I think this is accompanied by an increase in the frequency of absolutely idiotic arguments.
Then he says we should eliminate capital gains tax deduction. The issue of taxing capital gains is a very serious one, but I don't think it actually matters that much how much we tax realised capital gains. Again, not an expert but here's my understanding. If you have a high net worth with a lot of it in stocks and you need cash, you don't have to sell them and get taxed on the realised gains. You go to the bank and say I want to borrow money, I'm going to put these stocks up as collateral so if I can't pay you back you can take these stocks which are somewhere around the value of the principal amount plus total interest over the course of this loan. Because the bank is now convinced they'll get the money back regardless of if you make the payments or not, they say ok here's the money you asked for at a nice low interest rate. Then you take the money, you keep your stocks, which will probably gain value at a rate that exceeds the interest rate by a pretty decent margin, and you can probably make your interest payments pretty easily because hey, you were rich to begin with. If you're really strapped for cash a couple years down the line, you can sell some of the stocks that are now worth more than they were before and cover your payments and not have to pay taxes on the rest that you don't have to sell. Free money. Or maybe a second option, you set up a dummy company, make everyone who pays you pay that company and when the big bad tax man is about to come to collect your profits, you buy yourself a fancy car, house, jet, whatever, write it off as a business expense, tax free. Then you keep your money. There's plenty more ways to avoid taxes if you're rich but you get my point by now. Now that's a lot of problems without a solution. Luckily we have some economists far more skilled than I am who work very hard to find solutions to these problems. Here's one example of a policy that may help (https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/05/03/opinion/global-billionaires-tax.html). This is an opinion piece written by Gabriel Zucman (famous economist), for the New York Times. If you don't have an NYT subscription, sorry for giving a link you can't read but if you search Gabriel Zucman billionaire tax, you could probably get a decent idea of what this talks about. Here's Zucman tweeting his proposal for his suggestion (https://twitter.com/gabriel\_zucman/status/1763253132572729623). It probably requires a little more thinking than the NYT article but he did present this at the G20 so that might sound more exciting to you than some news article.
Then Galloway says "we need to remove 230 protection for all algorithmically-elevated content". Zero mention on what 230 protection is so here's an explanation (https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230). Basically that was a fancy way of saying that companies should be held accountable of the content on their platform, even if it's posted by an unrelated third party. I'm not sure getting rid of it in its entirety is a great idea but I certainly agree that most if not all social media platforms have abused this protection and it should be at the very least restricted. To what extent? Again, I have no clue.
Then he goes "break up Big Tech". That's the whole suggestion. This is a terrible idea but the fact that he doesn't elaborate more on how to do this, the ramifications of doing so, or really provide any explanation at all makes me automatically ignore this. Then he makes his point about age-gating social media, like I said before, I agree with it.
His next suggestions are universal pre-K, great idea, then "reinstate the expanded child-tax credit". Not sure what he's going on about here, child tax credit exists and like I said before, was just expanded. Then it's income-based affirmative action. I don't know what kind of affirmative action is best and that sounds like an interesting idea so I won't criticise it. I think the rest of his suggestions are pretty normative arguments so I'll leave those alone too.
Don't get me wrong, I wholeheartedly agree with the overall theme of his talk. I believe that young people in the US (and many places worldwide) are at a massive disadvantage when it comes to accumulating wealth, buying homes, inter-generational transfers, etc. But you cannot go up on a popular platform like this, make claims as sweeping as he has, and make suggestions as radical and drastic as he has, with garbage arguments and data like this. Saying the right things for the wrong reasons is arguably worse than just saying the wrong thing because it makes it easy for those who want the status quo to remain to make counterarguments. Given how divisive opinions have become over the past decade or so I guess I shouldn't be surprised at how many people are eating this up but it kinda scares me how easily people will eat up this shit as long as its for a cause that sounds like its going for some kind of radical change for the good of all and has some imaginary "them" as the common enemy to everyone.
So that's it, I've finally covered all his points. I'm free, thank fuck. I should really proofread this but this has been my past eight hours and my back is breaking from all this sitting, I'm just gonna post this and read it over tomorrow. Maybe do a tl;dr, fix some formatting.

2024.05.11 04:56 Lallya2411 Work colleague (24F) giving hints to me (23M). How to make the situationship work?

So I (23M) am going through a rough breakup since quite sometime and I've decided to fix my career first by switching my current job (to a completely different domain) before I complete my healing and start dating again.
This work colleague of mine (24F) has told me that her current long distance relationship is not going well and she has almost broke up with him. She is never clear with her relationship status when I ask her whether she has actually broke up or not. We hang out often during office hours and only during office hours. She is always comfortable to talk with me.
I find her physically attractive and would like to bang her. She keeps inviting me for smoking up and I keep denying because I'm still in the middle of my next job hunt. For me career matters the most at this point. She knows that I'm looking for job switch and she is supoortive of that. We are good friends at this point. She doesn't know my intentions towards her and neither do I know what she thinks about me.
I'm in a dilemma whether letting her know my intentions is a good idea or not. Not to mention, my ex is also my work colleague but she does not work from the same office space as ours now (thank god) and nobody in my office knows about both of our past. I feel things with the current work colleague would mess up because she might actually be into me and I'm just looking for the physical stuff. Or maybe we both want the situationship which would be the best thing for me.
I don't want to hurt her feelings but I can't control my urge towards her anymore. It's been almost 4 months of my breakup and I really want to move on from my ex at this point by going intimate with someone else. But as I mentioned, until now I'm looking for career switch first. While I like the fact that I've worked upon myself and I'm actively looking out for jobs, I feel I'm putting a lot of pressure on myself by not hitting the ladies outside. I'm pretty sure my ex is banging a hell lot of guys out there as she also left me because she wasn't interested anymore. I decided to work upon myself and I think I'm doing a pretty good job.
How should I approach this without anyone including me getting hurt?

2024.05.11 04:53 Coolbro39 Thoughts after watching the show three times

Well I’ve rewatched the anime three times now (in dub on Hdive) and I feel like I’ve finally been able to grasp a lot of concepts and understand the show a whole lot more yet understand that due to this I now know a whole lot less.
Such as in season 1 when Yui started getting grilled by Yumiko and Yukino stepped in and when Yui and Hachiman are outside she claims on how its his fault as she goes with Yukino then he questions himself and claims that it was Yukino’s fault right? Now understanding that Yui had feelings for Hachiman from the start due to him saving her dog and her going with Yukino was her way of getting into the service club and getting to spend more time with him and later on which means it indeed was Hachimans fault. Yui later saying how she claims that she likes “Yukinon” a lot more then she thought implying that she has grown a relationship with Yukino despite having ulterior motives since the start.
I have also grown to appreciate Hayato a lot more especially in season 2, Seeing how he really dislikes having to hold up his “nice guy” facade and how due to this he isn’t able to cause change or fix problems due to him avoiding confrontation and calling people out and wanting to please everyone. Which is why he felt inferior to Hachiman because he see’s that due to him Yukino has changed a lot and how he managed to help him solve his problem and Ebina’s, Tobe’s and Yumikos problem with his methods albeit they are really self destructive and even hayato calls him out on it since now Hachiman has people that care about him and his way of approaching things really hurts the people around him. It was nice seeing Hayato stand up for hachiman when they were with Orimoto and her friend. Hayato at the end also explaining how if you have two choices but you can only really pick one is it that much of your own decision?
Hachiman’s genuine speech and wanting to understand others in order to stop being afraid and being afraid of being hurt since from the beginning as much as he mentions liking his isolation he still strives to have relationships with people such as in the first episode where a girl calls out to him yet she was talking to someone else but he still looked her way, To me this comes off as him still craving that aspect of relationships with people that are genuine but being so afraid of being hurt by people due to his past.
After this event Yukino also mentioning how she only fulfilled Hachimans first half of his request when he asked for help with Iroha and him saying how is this some sort of riddle or something? I’m surprised hachiman didn’t catch it at the moment but later it gets brought up on fulfilling his request.
Komachi was the ultimate wing woman throughout the entire show, It was also very nice seeing her scenes with Hachiman seeing that type of sibling bond really resonated with me.
The one character that I don’t really get their intentions/emotions is Haruno, Her goal from my understanding is getting Yukino to make her own path and make her own decisions without following her big sisters footsteps. She seems to cause damage and pressure the trio into ripping their love triangle apart so she can see something genuine as well due to the groups dynamics being superficial since its clear that both of them are interested in Hachiman yet they don’t fully act on it in order to preserve the groups status quo which is similar to Hayato’s group in terms of maintaning it without straining any relationships involved in the group. However her involvement in a way was perhaps speeding things up? Unsure if we would have gotten the same result if Haruno never got involved to begin with.
Understanding Yukino’s frustration with Hachimans self sacrificing method during the kyoto trip, cultural fest and his other methods of deceiving such as his involvement with Iroha’s presidency. However seeing Yui know yet still allow certain things to happen such as the Iroha’s presidency to maintain the service club together showing how she really wanted them to stay together and seeing how they didn’t respect Yukino’s wishes and how Meguri talks with Hachiman about how Yukino would have been president and the other two would have been with her showing that Yukino’s solution could have worked out properly and if their relationships fizzled out would they have been meaningful anyway if something could separate them that easily?
When Orimoto mentions that she gave chocolates to Hachiman it grabbed Yukino, Yui, Tamanawa and Saki’s attention. This shows that Tamanawa has feeling for her as we see later on how come Saki looks though? On the timeline near this part which was Season 2 Episode 12 the didn’t have many interactions besides the I love you interaction at the culture fest so how come she looks as well does she have slight feelings for Hachiman as well or is it just more of a surprise that someone has given him chocolates before?
Some things that I never fully understood was with the max coffee, It seemed like he chose the bitter coffee when things were not going right or he was’t feeling good? I noticed that I saw the iconic yellow can in his hands when he was in a good mood or after a good decision. However I’m still unsure.
Also the reoccurring Saika moments, I’m assuming it’s like a gag like Ebina? I’m assuming it’s one of those things where it’s just a consistent joke throughout the show some of them were pretty damn funny and had great timings.
Scenes like season 3 episode 4 with Hachiman and Yui, Him saying that he promised he would save Yukino and him checking behind before taking off running showing how considerate he was, It hit so damn hard seeing Yui cry and claim that “I wish my tears hadn’t stopped then” because it could have kept Hachiman there or in season 3 episode 6 with Hachiman and Yui in the pair room “Doing stuff like this changes nothing, because the ending is already set in stone, Please turn the lie that I keep feeding myself into a reality”
Season 3 episode 7’s rap scene with Tamanawa and Hachiman was very unexpected but great!
Hearing Hiratsuka say “Youth is a lie, It is nothing but pure evil” was a throwback and reminded Hachiman of how far he has come.
Yukino’s “I love you, Hikigaya” paired up with seasons one opening was definitely something, Hit right in the feels hearing one of them finally communicate using strong and direct words.
Seeing Hachiman next to a window seat was beautiful to see.
After watching the show so many things resonated with me, The sibling bond and even the communication skills, I’ve had previous events where I’ve had to turn down girls and it feels downright awful, looking back knowing that I didn’t communicate my feelings properly and avoided answering them with a direct answer in order to avoid hurting them.
The genuine concept has definitely been in my mind before but never planted properly, Seeing how important it is has now left an impression.
There were so many meaningful and impactful moments/quotes/symbolism that I couldn’t possibly include all of them without making this post way longer sadly, It was an awesome ride that I’ve gone on thrice now and might revisit again someday and with this I’ll attach quotes I encountered that I enjoyed.
Season 1 Episode 1
“Try changing your perception, people who dont appy minimal effort have no right to go around and envy those with talent, Unsuccesful people are unsuccessful because they cant imagine the effort that succesful people have invested.” -Yukino
Season 1 Episode 1
“Guys are just simple and stuff, They’ll get the wrong idea if you so much as talk to them.” -Hachiman
Season 2 Episode 10
“In all honestly, if wishes could be granted for all who desire them, If I could get what I wanted, I wouldn’t wish for anything or want for anything, the things I can easily get are likely never genuine nor what I really wanted and I’ll surely lose it one day so I think I’ll keep searching for it” -Hachiman
Season 2 Episode 12
“Well the past just makes you want to die from regret, thoughts of the future makes you depressed with anxiety, so by process of elimination now is the best time.” -Hachiman
Season 2 Episode 12 “People usually don’t look back to see how far they’ve come while they are still walking forward, Of course though when they come to a stop they look behind them and the more progress they’ve made the more betrayed they feel by their expectations.” -Hiratsuka
Season 3 episode 7
“Just like always, we’re awful at conveying our true feelings” -Hachiman
Season 3 Episode 12
“I can stand without your help” -Yukino
“I know that, I knew that she could stand without me and I knew she would say that But, I still held out my hand for her and I probably always will” -Hachiman

I'm new to modding. After doing some research i made my first LO trying to follow this video guide and the Simple Load Order Guide:

2024.05.11 04:41 Moocao123 Clover Q1 2024 earnings analysis - Earnings call/10Q release 05/07/24

Clover Q1 2024 earnings analysis - Earnings call/10Q release 05/07/24
Greetings Healthcare company investors,
As we are now Friday after market close, and even after hours markets are closed, I thought now would be the best time to review the Clover Health earnings call on 05/07/24 and take a look at the company's performance. As Clover health is fully MA dependent, no specific focus is necessary (unlike for other companies). As our subreddit initially had a large influx of Clover Health investors, I am sure this segment will be of particular interest. As usual, our disclaimers:
*** Both RainyFriedTofu and Moocao123 has positions in Clover Health. The information provided is not meant as financial advice, please be advised of the potential bias and decide whether the information provided is within your risk consideration. **
*** This is not financial advice, nor is there any financial advice within. Shout-out to the AMC/GME apes for having me to write this ***
*** Please do not utilize this content without author authorization ***
Earnings call discussion: Will skip since RainyFriedTofu has devoted a significant post prior to today, please refer to his DD as I do not believe I can add any additional value within the earnings call discussion segment.
Earnings results:

Yellow: these sections are projected as is, meaning it was not multiplied as 4x of quarterly numbers. This acts as an underestimate.
Blue: since the number is negative, there is no issue with cash runway anymore. What is the significance: the business is self sufficient. The net loss can be explained by stock based compensation, please see cash flow section within 10Q for further details.
Purple: This is the "profit margin" per member. The calculation is done by insurance revenue/member - insurance cost/member. ALHC also defined their "profit margin" in the same manner, but I have instead used it as a per member.
Orange: This section signifies that Clover is reaching a ceiling in marginal efficiency using CA to improve margins. Further BPS reduction will be difficult (although at MCR of 77.60%, I am not sure what else you can ask for).
  1. Clover has achieved best in segment MCR, and definitely within the MA space. This isn't even close. You may review all other company DD provided within this subreddit, but I can assure you right now no one has achieved an MCR < 80% other than Clover, and a significant number of payors have instead reported MA MCR > 90%. Oscar does not count. Oscar's business plan is more like a pirate raiding poor people's pocketbook than an insurance company. It puts UNH to shame, which tells you how much certain investors love them and why both Rainy and I detest Oscar.
  2. Clover Health is now free cash flow (FCF) positive, as indicated by its Cash on Hand (+23 million), shareholder equity (+6 million), and adjusted EBITDA (+6.8 million). Q1 usually is worse off than Q2, and Q3/Q4 usually has higher MCR due to seasonal variation. It is therefore likely that Clover will indeed reach its intended adjusted EBITDA goal of + 10-30 million dollars by FY 2024. It is impossible for Clover to be bankrupt based on current operations.
  3. Clover health IS being priced as if it is a bankrupt company, with 05/10/24 Market Cap to Cash on hand ratio of 0.91, and a ratio of 0.68 when Clover Health stock price was at $0.62.
  4. Any additional revenue will boost Clover to profit. I am estimating Clover Health to be at -$77 million dollars away from breakeven as a business, and this includes stock based compensation.
  5. Clover health probably has the best profit margin/member within the business, although specific numbers cannot be obtained amongst all the payors within the segment as a plurality reports as a consolidated basis. Nevertheless, we can use ALHC as a proxy, for further information please access my DD on ALHC. We believe the industry segment reflects more along ALHC than Clover Health numbers:
    1. Clover Health is estimated to have a profit margin/member of 3.85 thousands by 24Q1 numbers, projected to yearly.
    2. ALHC is estimated to have a profit margin/member of 1.17 thousands by 24Q1 numbers, projected to yearly.
    3. This is the power of AI in healthcare, and it has a differentiating factor which has a dollar value association.
  6. Clover health is CMS V28 ready, which allows for Clover to be the more agile player with the new regulations. Although CMS V28 impacted all players, and we see a little of that impacting Clover Health as well as revenue - cost margins have shrunk, we believe Clover has achieved adequate revenue to cost margin differential for FY 2024 and will continue to do so FY 2025. I do not believe other payers have done so.
  7. Clover Health therefore has a basis on selling its software as a service line (SaaS), as it has demonstrated appropriate cost containment, is CMS V28 ready, and can deploy other features for early diagnosis and treatment algorithms as per earnings call discussion. We hope other features may include integration of Abridge (which EPIC is already partnering with and is being deployed in Emory), and other clinical decision making tools that can help providers.
  8. Based on current stock price movement, we again reinforce our DD after 23Q4: If market shorts attempt to distort Clover Market cap, it will happen within Q1 and Q2 of 2024. Assuming Andrew's projection is continued beyond Q2 2024, and/or SaaS announcement is made, and projected revenue is announced, expect market shorts to retreat. So far this is proceeding as it had been predicted, this DD was initially written in March right after ER and is marching beautifully in its thesis.
  9. Andrew had demonstrated free cash flow positivity by 24Q1, which is entirely unexpected on how fast this occured. This means the business is viable without further cash infusion, which will herald the business as fully self sufficient. This should further batter any short positions, as +FCF means that market makers will need to reassign peg value away from bankruptcy ratio of 1:1. The only leg left standing for market shorts would be the discussion of a reverse split, which is entirely within their control and not within Clover Health's control.
  10. The purpose of Clover Health only considering minor 2025 growth based on 24Q1 projections would be to maintain +FCF and to prevent market shorts from gaining further ground. It is inconceivable that ALHC, which looks to have a worse MCR, a worse profit margin per member, a worse adjusted EBITDA per member, a worse cash runway, and a worse cash on hand status compared to Clover Health, is trading at a multiple of 5.39 to cash on hand compared to Clover's 0.91. I believe there is sufficient proof that Clover Health can make the claim that excessive market influences are making an impact on the company's operational decision. This is the reason for the stock buyback. Unlike what is discussed in the other subreddit, we do not believe this is a result of Clover Health's status as a SPAC, but is instead related to its status as a meme stock in 2021.
I would also like to reiterate again what our subreddit stands for: We do not provide financial advice, nor do we intend to do so.
Never trust the internet for your information, and cross reference every single piece of information. Your money is your nest egg, let no one tell you what to do, or allow yourself to be led by unverified information. If you are uncomfortable with single stock investments, please inquire with a financial advisor and consider index funds. Never utilize financial instruments you do not understand or have very little experience with, and if anything, use Buffett's rule. I consider Taleb to be also a good guide, but I realize most people don't know who he is. I humbly suggest you to only utilize investment methods you can reasonably understand, as I have already known individuals who have lost considerable wealth on the basis of financial instruments.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this long post, and I hope you clovtards cloverites degenerates educated healthcare sector investors have learned something from my musings.
Sincerely

** Edit to include Oscar, in case anyone asks about that degenerate of a company. It abandoned California like a pimp ditching his call girl who got found with an STD, and it will abandon its Cigna+ members for probably similar reasons as well (sick people need healthcare, who would have thought). It gained ~ 50% increased ACA commercial patients in 2024 but will probably have such limited healthcare coverage that people will complain and quit their insurance plans by next year. When you take money and don't pay claims, your MCR would look awesome. What a concept. **

2024.05.11 04:19 Character-Zone3828 WIBTA if I ruin my roommates life?

Keeping it extremely short and simple in the main body-context on request.
Over the last year my (28f) and my partner (21f, Amy) have lived with a single mom (37f) who well call Pam and her daughter (9f) who well call Penny.
Pam was in danger of losing her apartment due to non-payment when we met. Amy and I paid a full months rent despite moving in midway through the month, and have continued to pay rent to Pam every month. Our rent is 1/2 of the total cost of the apartment.
Pam was aware prior to our moving in that we had one small dog and two cats. Pam was okay with this, Pam had a dog (and cat who belonged to a former roommate).
My partner is not able to work, due to the fact she is immigrating from another country.
Pam has been an awful parent, neglectful to the point that my partner has provided complete, wrap around childcare, that if she were paid, would exceed $15K over the last year even when Pam is home. This has caused so many problems for both Amy and I- as our lives, and finances are often impacted by caring for Penny without reimbursement for gas or groceries we have purchased.
There is often no food in the house for Penny, so she eats ours. when Amy cooks a meal, it is from our groceries. Penny’s mom does not provide adequate nutrition to her child.
Pam does not parent. She does not discipline. There is no structure or routine, there is no boundaries or expectations- Pam is essentially hands off and let’s Penny do whatever she wants no matter how irresponsible, dangerous, inconsiderate or disrespectful.
Penny has unrestricted access to the internet at all times. There are no parental controls, no screen time, no monitoring of her activity, no restrictions on the websites she can visit, or media she can consume.
Pam is in the middle of a custody battle with Penny’s father. Pam is attempting to get full custody. Penny’s father has no clue about the goings on. Penny currently splits time between houses equally.
Pam micromanages Amy and I, but Pam’s rules are not something she herself has to follow. Pam knows that I have a very demanding work schedule, I often work 14 hours a day, back to back- leaving 2 hours for travel to and from work, 2 hours to cook myself a meal, and perhaps 7 hours of sleep IF I go directly to sleep only to get up and do it again.
Pam will complain that there are dishes in the sink for less than 24 hours, even during the time I am working, but leaves her dishes for weeks on end. Pam’s only rule at our move in was no smoking in the house, a non issue for us- however Pam recently has decided this rule no longer applies to her either- even when Penny is home.
Pam neglects her animals. While Penny is away at her father’s, Pam disappears leaving her pets in our care without saying anything to us. When we asked Pam to look after our pets, we returned home to find them in filth, neglected along with her own pets.
Pam consistently introduces Penny to men she is seeing casually, and invites DEFINITELY unsafe and suspect men into our shared space, and allows them access to Penny. Amy and I bring up one of these guys, Pam shrugs it off. What Amy and I have observed is creepy at least, and HIGHLY inappropriate at best, and yet we have to convince Pam to no longer grant this individual access to her child.
Pam repeatedly continues to lock our pets in our room, the smallest of the three. Leading to our cats to develop separation anxiety, resulting in mess that we have to clean daily, and often pay to clean daily.
Amy now declines to care for Penny without being reimbursed for the cost of gas and groceries. Pam agrees to reimburse us for these things. Pam turns around and decides she will not do that, she will instead ask her friend who was recently fired for threatening another employee to watch Penny.
Amy and I are glad to wash our hands of it. However this person brought Penny home one day and left her at home without saying anything to us. Had I not been in the washroom at the time, I would not have known that Penny was home.
We tell Pam that this cannot happen again. If Pam has said she has arranged childcare, Penny is not our responsibility to mind- and just because we are home does not mean that we are agreeing to care for her. Pam is also made aware of how unsafe it is, had a fire occurred or another emergency, or even if Amy and I had plans, we would not have known Penny was home at all.
Pam’s friend gets a new job, so she can no longer care for Penny anyway.
In the last three months, Amy and I have been at our wits end, but we have applied for immigration documents, and we know we cannot move yet until those documents are in hand.
Pam starts seeing a new guy. Pam invites new guy to meet Penny (they are not even dating, I cannot make this up), Pam then decides that this guy will watch Penny after school from now on. Guy, we’ll call Greg (28m) picks Penny up from school and takes her back to his place.
Amy and I are shocked for a verity of reasons. I am a victim of CSA, Pam and Amy have both been victims of SA, and Pam suspects that Penny was ALSO a victim of CSA at one point, though she is not certain: many of the signs are there.
AND YET Pam sees nothing wrong with giving this man access to her child. Greg, seems a little stupid- but from what Amy and I observe, not someone creepy. Luckily for Pam.
The weeks where Penny is away continue as per usual, Pam leaves her pets for Amy and I to care for. Pam’s dog is also developing separation Anxiety. He is now puking often, biting himself to the point of bleeding, having accidents despite being let out by Amy and I. We bring this to Pam’s attention.
Pam then, and only then, begins to take him to Greg’s. This lasts for a while, then stops. Pam only picks up her dog the night before, or the day of collecting Penny from school. Leaving him at home with no food (our dog eats a special food for his sensitivities).
When Pam is home, this dog who was beloved by Pam and Penny recieves no attention from them. He used to sleep in Pam’s room, but now when she is home, she goes into her room with Greg, and closes the door, leaving her dog alone.
The house is in a STATE because Pam has not cleaned up after herself, or Penny, or Greg, or her pets. There are dishes molding on the counter, half consumed beverages, school lunch containers with food still in them- that remain for more than 3 weeks. As a point of principle, Amy and I refuse to do them.
We suspect Pam and Greg start smoking cigarettes and weed in the house, even when Penny is home. Something Pam confirms when she is drunk a few weeks later.
We also find out that neither Pam, nor Greg have been working for at least a month, meaning that the state of the house is not a case of Pam not having time- but rather Pam actually not giving a shit. Greg was fired from his job for theft. Something Greg admits and tries to downplay.
The clincher comes when Pam, Greg and Penny bring home a puppy. Amy and I know this is yet another animal we will be tasked with taking care of because nobody else will.
Weeks pass and Pam sends us a text that she would like us to move out, so that her boyfriend, his dog, her old roommate who smoked hard drugs in the house and his cat, and her friend who was fired from her job for threatening another employee can move in.
Amy and I are quite honestly pissed as we come to the realization that not only is Pam a compulsive liar, professional gaslighter, horrible pet owner, bad parent and manipulator (things we already knew) now that Amy and I are not bending over backward to please her, and set boundaries, and speak our minds- Pam has decided there is nothing more to gain from us. She has used our kindness and compassion for her situation in order to extract as much as she can from us, before deciding it’s no longer worth it to deal with us.
Not only that, but moving at this stage of the immigration process negatively impacts Amy’s application. Which in turn jeopardizes her status.
Amy and I plan to do several things once we move, things we would have done already if it would not have impacted our housing: inform Penny’s father of the ongoing situation, call appropriate child protection agencies, call the city about the pets and occupancy issues that will arise once these people move in, and call the landlord about things that Pam is neglecting to inform him of, posing health concerns and possible fire hazards.
All of these things will have a compounding effect on Pam, and will likely screw her over for a very VERY long time. WIBTA for affecting her life negatively to this degree?

2024.05.11 03:57 Funny-Barnacle1291 The 1989 cheetah necklace, Untamed a lesbian memoir, and Taylor's next album

The 1989 cheetah necklace, Untamed a lesbian memoir, and Taylor's next album
This is a long post, please bear with me. I'll get to the most important part first, and then explore what it means. I may not get it all done in one!
For the Paris leg of the eras tour, Taylor has revealed new outfits for 1989 - for both nights so far, she has worn a big cat around her neck. Everyone has been wondering what kind of big cat necklace it is.
https://preview.redd.it/9u0awwlvsozc1.jpg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5796fb82f2ef755d240f1877ad36f1475273f3e7

@/taylorswiftstyled included the outfit on instagram, indicating the necklace is a Roberto Cavalli big cat emblem necklance. One quick look at the Roberto Cavalli website and you'll see there is a huge big cat theme at the moment, most specifically: cheetah. Some screenshots.

There's also tiger jewellery (pictured) and snake jewellery (not pictured as from what I understand, snakes are a big part of roberto cavalli's iconography). However, Roberto Cavalli did create a couture capsule for Taylor and her iconic Eras snake reputation dress - more info here.
Now, Roberto Cavalli loves a big cat necklace - I've found leopard, panther and jaguar. However, cheetah is much harder to come by. This is the only example I have found, and notably it is men's. It's very similar to Taylor's. All the other big cat jewellery, including the tiger as above which I know many people wondered if the cat was a tiger, has black stones wheras the cheetah does not. Just black eyes, the same as Taylor's. So, Taylor's necklace isn't just any big cat: it's a cheetah.

This is important because of a very well-known lesbian memoir called Untamed, by Glennon Doyle. Glennon Doyle is the wife of the famous lesbian American football player, Abby Wambach. Untamed is an amazing book and I encourage everyone to read it, by the way.
Taylor has known Abby since 2015 when she invited Abby and her teammates up onto the 1989 tour stage following their world cup win, and she then invited Abby to an after party where she remarked to Abby and Ina (Garten, gay icon, rumoured bearded relationship with her gay husband"), "Ina and Abby Wambach playing beer bong after one of my concerns, this must be THE best thing I've ever experienced". In 2020, Abby and Taylor exchanged these tweets.
https://preview.redd.it/4mgjsi8ptozc1.png?width=742&format=png&auto=webp&s=1f79d646c0cdd4ae61370c5f7e403daffa5d5480
These words were pointed out by u/No_Act3578 when I originally posted the idea that the necklace is a cheetah on the Paris N2 thread (and thankyou so much mods for inviting me to make a post!). I also want to credit @/underthepink7 on twitter who also posted the theory on tiktok which I and my partner saw when researching if it is a cheetah - both of us have read Untamed and our Gaylor senses were tingling since last night.
Now, here for the very important part.
Untamed, Glennon's book that Taylor credits as being a "huge help" to her in 2020, calling Glennon a "luminary" (a person who inspires or influences others), is a book about compulsory heterosexuality and coming out of the closet when you're deep in it. Glennon was still married to her now-ex husband when she met Abby. Untamed is about this, and it uses the metaphor of a cheetah in a cage to describe her sexuality and comphet. Glennon talks about being 'put' into a cage, and that she must work to free herself from this cage. Sound familiar?
She describes seeing a cheetah at the zoo as offering an ephiphany of sorts; the cheetah is behaving as they have been conditioned, thrown into a cage, just like Glennon has been conditioned to live and accept being in the cage of a heterosexual life. Glennon is the cheetah: she is in a cage, performing as society has conditioned her to, but her true self is queer. The book themes include self-discovery, liberation, and authenticity, challenging societal norms and expectations, and encourages readers to break free from what holds them back from living authentically. For the theylors, it does explore gender a bit too. It is, in essence, about embracing your most 'wild' heart, your 'untamed' heart, your queerest self. It is explicitly and unquestionably queer and lesbian.
So, what does this mean? How does this relate to TTPD Well, for TTPD, it's in the lyrics. Everywhere. It means Taylor is purposefully using cheetah imagery while having openly admitted to not just having read a book, but it having helped her in a very significant way during a hard time in her life. It was only released in 2020: she has been carving themes from the book into all of her albums since. It means she has very publicly resonated with a very queer story of comphet and queer sexuality, and then she has weaved it through her music, and she is easter egging it with a cheetah necklance for the 1989 era outfit (more on what this means later).
For TTPD, which I'm only going to deep-dive as I'd be here for days otherwise, Taylor in TTPD openly sings about 'the circus made me mean' (waolom) in contrast to mad woman 'you'll poke that bear till her claws come out'.
She sings about a whole circus of animals(!), some included animals are: tiger, horses and wild horses, vipers, wolves, lion, beast, albatross, jackals, dinosaurs, dragonflies (and golden retriever but, maybe a red herring?) and she also sings 'ditch the clowns get the crown' (the alchemy) in contrast to peace, 'there's robbers to the east, clowns to the west'. The Albatross is Taylor as the albatross, literally an animal, who destroys / ruins. Cassandra, 'so they filled my cell with snakes'.
She sings about performance: ICDIWABH, Florida!!!, WAOLOM, Clara Bow. So high school (yes, i'm putting it here lmao!).
She sings about cages, a lot, or alludes to them in the sense of being 'sent away' or asylums: Fortnight, Peter, Guilty as Sin? 'I keep my longings locked, in lowercase inside a vault', imgonnagetyouback 'whether i'm gonna flip you off or, pull you into the closet', fresh out the slammer, the prophecy (which itself is the cage, comphet, cisheteronormativity), Cassandra, and also the escapism of i hate it here with 'secret gardens in my mind' feels like it fits into this theme.
There are also a lot of themes of inauthenticity; Peter, MBOBHFT: 'my plastic smile', even toys in itself being her(?), 'i felt more when we played pretend than with all the kens cause he took me out of my box', 'queen of sand castles', Florida!!!, ICDIWABH, TSMWEL 'hung me on your wall, stabbed me with push pins, in public showed me off', Clara Bow, thanK you aIMee, i look in people's windows, The Black Dog 'my longings stay unspoken, and i may never open up the way I did for you' (you could also read this as being about the closet when compared to Guilty as Sin?
There are also songs about defying and being wild: Fresh out the slammer, BDILH, The Bolter (but something stops her being truly free),
I haven't deep-dived many lyrics nor done albums before TTPD because it just gets so long - I may do a seperate post linking back to this one at some point. A whole post could be dedicated to reading her mentions of cats through this lense. I will point to Robin, specifically, though. It is very, very common for Taylor to easter egg her next album in the last one or two songs of her current album. With that in mind, let's think about Robin, because it imo covers nearly every theme:
"Long may you reign You're an animal, you are bloodthirsty Out window panes talking utter nonsense You have no idea"
An animal in a zoo: 'window panes' are the window panes of the zoo cage which the animal is kept in, the public is kept safe from how they are 'bloodthirsty'; but more metaphorically, Taylor is the animal, hanging out of her cage 'talking utter nonsense' (aka, performing), in her bloodthirst for fame and to 'reign'. Linking this to other Robin theories, this is young, naive Taylor, who is hungry to make it big and doesn't realise as she is being lured into her cage [of window panes] as she hangs outside it. She has no idea what is to come.
"Strings tied to levers Slowed-down clocks tethered All this showmanship To keep it for you in sweetness"
Zoo cages are released via a lever: strings are attached to this lever for Taylor that she has to meet, in order for her to temporarily be released from her cage. Perhaps that the trajectory of her life slowed down when she realised these strings. The showmanship is the performance of the zoo and/or circus; it allows her to 'keep' her fame, money, through being 'sweet': aka tame.
"Way to go, tiger Higher and higher Wilder and lighter For you"
Her closeted wild authentic self, climbing higher and higher out of the cage, becoming wilder and lighter as it becomes more and more difficult for Taylor to meet the strings, to be the showman, to hide her true self, to show her authentic self into a cage. Her wild authentic self is the tiger; but her closeted self is the animal, dehumanised but also dehumanising by forcing herself (and being forced) to perform as a specific version of herself and caging her younger, true self.
"Long may you roar At your dinosaurs You're a just ruler Covered in mud, you look ridiculous And you have no idea"
Roaring at her elders(?). Dinosaurs makes me think of those older. Dinosaur could be her parents, music execs, but also herself. You're just a ruler is her younger self talking to her older self; she is a spectacle 'covered in mud' who looks ridiculous. Younger queer Taylor feels sorry for older closeted Taylor.
"Buried down deep and out of your reach, The secret we all vowed To keep it from you in sweetness"
Burying her queer self; the secret she vowed to keep in pursuit of her fame and success. This one is difficult for me to analyse to be honest, it has some themes that I struggle with - but in my opinion this is a very heavy verse. It screams trauma, to be quite honest. But it has themes of inauthenticity, of closets and cages.
"You got the dragonflies above your bed You have a favorite spot on the swing set You have no room in your dreams for regrets (You have no idea) The time will arrive for the cruel and the mean You'll learn to bounce back just like your trampoline But now we'll curtail your curiosity In sweetness"
This is very clear imagery of her younger, more innocent and queer self, who has no idea what her life has become in the pursuit of success. "But now we'll curtail your curiosity, in sweetness" to me, reads, as stifling out her queerness 'for the best'. It is made very clear here that what was 'in sweetness' was not. Dragonflies and swings and dreams gives the idea of freedom, of being wild and free, as opposed to Taylor now - closeted, caged, inauthentic, performing.
I think Robin probably highlights the most the idea Taylor could be drawing themes directly from Untamed by Glennon Doyle. The themes are incredibly prevalent, and following that up with The Manuscript is a deliberate choice: it has themes of lost youth, of knowing things too young and too soon, and again it's a song I can't personally deep dive too much atm unfortunately.
Finally, beyond her lyrics, there are some very overly obvious easter egg zoo themes going on. As u/courtingdisaster pointed out, Taylor randomly went to the zoo in Sydney in February multiple times. On this very sub, people pointed out how 'creepy' the photos were, as an example that stood out to me u/slowburn_23 said "Weird Tay being photographed inside a zoo when she uses so many gilded cage and birdcage images. Tay is basically a zoo animal in the mediasphere and she's in a literal zoo. Hm."
I think this was purposeful. Taylor went back again and took Travis. She went twice, once herself and once twice, two times in a row. This feels like easter egging for a two album drop at 2AM says my most clown self. It could also function as a countdown, 3, 2, 1, the 1 being Travis... and "meet me at midnight".
So in summary, Taylor's 1989 necklace is a cheetah. The fact that she is choosing to display this with her 1989 outfit specifically though, is very telling. If it's a brand new album, why not display it with TTPD outfits?
Because, call me a clown but, her next album is Karma, the lost album meant to come right after 1989. OR, there is another new album, which doesn't feature cheetahs, and Karma is the album we 'meet [her] at midnight' with, where she reveals her true self. The animal for Karma is a cheetah (karma is a cat, purring on my lap cause she loves me), which fits the era in which snakes became Reputation and in my opinion I think she has went back and looked at Karma, after reading Untamed, and started easter egging cheetahs along with other Karma easter eggs. Especially tonight's 1989 outfit with the orange top and purple to pink skirt, gold shoe and silver shoe.
I may lose you here, but please do read my previous post indicating the Karma easter egging that has been going on especially with the Paris leg of the tour. u/jossiesideways points out the "makeunder" going on with 1989 and prior in this post and isn't it interesting that tonight (N2) Paris's show, the t-shirt was "I Bet You Think About ME". Orange and pink, particularly orange, are the rumoured colours of Karma and Taylor has been going crazy with them in Paris.
I think TTPD is about her losing colour: but she is introducing orange "I was just getting colour back into my face" - which u/weirdrobotgirl points out is the colour of acceptance under colour theory in but i'm a cheerleader (posts here and here) - to allude to the idea she's beginning to come round to accepting herself. She is also still using yellow, which signifies closetness and sickness. Cheetahs vary from a light yellow to orange, which I feel signifies Karma very well - she is literally still keeping it closeted, and so it has a degree of sickness tainted by all the years of being 'locked inside a vault'.
I also want to point out that a cheetah, in dreams, signifies choosing to face the changes you want to make in your life which scare you. It also represents independence, persistence, adaptability, vulnerability and grace. Clown moment but cheetahs are thought to be the second most common gay animal, after lions.
So TLDR: Taylor's necklace is a cheetah, which links to the very well-known lesbian memoir called Untamed which Taylor herself said had been a "huge help" to her in 2020. There are themes all the way through TTPD and then back into Midnights and Folklore/Evermore (not explored) which highlight how she has been contending with ideas of circuses, animals, dehumanisation, vs autheniticity, wild and free, liberation, for a while now. The cheetah is an easter egg, as were her trips to Sydney zoo. Her next album could well be Karma, because of it being linked to the 1989 outfit - or it could be the midnight album.
That's it! Taylor's necklance is a cheetah and I think it means big things.
Thankyou for reading and thankyou again mods for inviting me to post!!

2024.05.11 03:50 EconomyCauliflower84 Some facts about refugees in Boston, from a refugee.

Seeing some misinformed takes on this sub along the lines of "why are we letting in migrants/refugees/asylum seekers when rents are skyrocketing?" So I figured I'd leave a few relevant facts here
-72% of recent migrants to MA are Haitians. They come here because of our long-established Haitian community. In other words, they have friends/family/others who speak their language/a community to catch them here in Boston.
-The situation in Haiti has degraded to the point that the United Nations has called it "cataclysmic". Gangs are killing the men, raping the women and girls, and recruiting the boys at gunpoint and killing them when they try to escape.
-Asylum seekers are not illegal immigrants. It is legal to come to the U.S. to seek asylum.
-People from these countries are eligible for "Temporary Protected Status" in the U.S.: Afghanistan, Burma (Myanmar), Cameroon, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Yemen, and my home country of Ukraine. People on Temporary Protective Status have work permits. Immigrants participate in the labor force at a higher rate than US-born Americans. Native and foreign born unemployment rates are about the same. Migrants also typically take jobs that U.S.-born citizens don't want.
-Migrants are significantly less likely to commit crimes than U.S.-born Americans. An additional source here.
-You could be a refugee someday. Two and a half years ago, I lived in a peaceful country, and then Russia invaded, destroying my home. I do not wish it upon you or anyone else. My family and I were received with amazing generosity and hospitality as we crossed to Poland, to Germany, and then to Boston. I love this city and this country with my whole heart, and I am grateful forever.
Most people on earth are good, normal, and just want what is best for them and their families and loved ones. We work, pay taxes, have barbecues with our neighbors. When the neighbor kids accidentally throw the ball over the fence, we throw it back.
If you hope your child never sees dead bodies lying in the street, then you have something in common with those people sleeping on the floor at Logan Airport.
There are some people on this sub who say that the crisis in Haiti is 'not our problem'. To those people: I hope that, if you ever have to flee your homes, you are received by people more generous than yourselves.
-Rent is skyrocketing, it's ridiculous and unfair and you deserve better. We all do. But don't blame migrants for it. Blame greedy landlords, blame corporate landlords/real estate management companies that see tenants as exploitable sources of profit rather than human beings, blame zoning regulations that make it difficult to build new housing, blame wages not keeping up with inflation. It's a complex topic with a lot of moving parts. Many of those moving parts have powerful, greedy people moving them. But there have always been migrants coming to the US, so find a better argument.
Conclusion: Be a good neighbor, fight the power where you can, thanks for coming to my TED talk

2024.05.11 03:48 AgentVI Yet another Hulk fix (yes I'm sorry).

Sorry if this is an overdone topic, but I have been one of the (insert high number here) people who thinks Hulk could use a fix. I wanted a bit of a simple fix (just fixing Hulk) without it being overly simple. Here's the adjustments I came up with:
Hulk:
Keeps the same stats on hand size, HP, thwart, attack, and defense, but his ability is replaced with the following 2:
I'm Always Angry - Forced Interrupt: When you make a basic attack, draw a card. It also allows for a surprising possibility of drawing either Limitless Strength or Hulk Smash just in time to use them.
Unstoppable: Hulk Can't be stunned
The first is to help with his lower hand size of 4, while also incentivizing attacks, and the second makes it so a single stun doesn't completely destroy his turn.
Banner:
Gets a sixth card added to his hand, to bring him up to the level of other AE, and gets a fifth point added to his recovery to help make him better at getting back to something that resembles his full HP. He also has 2 abilities, replacing his current one:
Focused Scientist: Bruce Banner is immune to being confused.
That's My Secret Cap - Action: Search your discard pile for a Hulk card. Shuffle it into your deck. Limit Once per turn.
The first is my way of getting Banner's high intelligence involved in the game and acts as an equivalent to Hulk being immune to stuns. The second attempts to put Limitless Strength and Hulk Smash back in his deck, increasing how often they can be used.
The main theme of this is to make it so that a single status can't destroy his whole turn, and allow him to somewhat make up for his weak set by getting extra draws of Hulk Smash and Limitless Strength, which seem to be the best cards by far in his set.
Note: I have not yet playtested this, but I do plan on using it for personal use for now.
Thoughts?

2024.05.11 03:35 bedsideink51817 Bluetooth not staying connected

I have tried with multiple different Bluetooth devices with audio and all have troubles staying connected they all are connected playing audio but will cut out a ton.
I have ran a trouble shooting test on the Bluetooth and it said it fixed my radio status but is still having the same problem. I have restarted everything and turned it all on and off. I run windows 10 it says everything is up to date. I have gone too the device manger and checked every driver that has a Bluetooth symbol on it and they all say there the best drivers for your device.
I'm kinda lost in what to do next any suggestions are welcome. I built this Pc over college's winter break and Bluetooth was working great before but one day I tried connecting my headset and I have been having the same problem since. The audio when the hdmi is plugged into a TV plays out of the TV works so I'm almost sure it has to do with bluetooth.
