I will be staying in Accra for around 10 days and will need a car to move around with friends and family, specifically an SUV/4x4. I know these cars typically come with driver (as expected) so I’m curious to know what would be a reasonable budget for this type of car with driver for 10 days. I’m interested in getting a Toyota Prado or Landcruiser. Anything else I have to consider? Recommendations are also welcome.

2024.06.03 19:27 spicyprepper Looking at my first truck and I have some amateur questions about trim levels, packages, and cost. Can y'all spare some knowledge?
They look great, the stats on paper are excellent, and they're Toyotas, so I'm already sold. I'm just not sure what trim level would be best or how much it will hurt my bank account. I've been a little timid about going to a dealership, so I've resorted to YouTube videos. What would be the best trim level to meet my needs? Here are the only things I'm really looking for:
- Extended warranty
- 4x4
- CrewMax with 5.5ft bed
- Factory navigation and apple carplay
- Black Softex, Black Leather, or Saddle Brown Leather
- Blindspot warning
Questions:
- Is the "Limited" without the hybrid the least expensive trim option that includes all of the above features?
- If I don't really tow or haul anything, is the hybrid worth the money?
- I built a Limited with the above features on Toyota's website and the MSRP is just under $63k. I expect I'd need a dealership to answer this, but should I expect to pay MSRP or do dealerships shave a good chunk off the price out the door? I would likely be financing for 48mos at about 4%, with ~25% down, and a trade-in worth maybe $10k tops. Did you guys pay MSRP?

2024.06.03 08:05 Amdivns SEVS/Concessional RAV Approval for Importing a Toyota Coaster
Hi all,
Figured i'd reach out to the brains trust here. Just after some clarity....long read - hopefully it makes sense.
Edit: I'm based in Sydney's inner west, if that helps with suggestions and recommendations ***WHAT I WANT TO DO:**\*
I'd like to import a Toyota Coaster to Australia, and convert it to a motorhome.
I've done extensive research (
and come to the conclusion that infrastructure.gov.au importing rules are as clear as mud - to a point). I didn't know until recently all the loop holes and the like had changed in the last few years....ugh. I'll either do it myself, or engage an importer. Previous background in procurement, so i've got a pretty good working knowledge of shipping processes.
I understand that I can import a coaster - it's just harder than it was three years ago...after the rules changed :(
Reason I want to do this is:
- Partner works in the outdoor industry, and we recently realised we could leverage prodeals from brands like Dometic, Goal Zero, Yeti etc) significantly reducing the fitout costs, as we'd be paying near cost price for top of the line RV accessories, appliances, off grid power systems etc....the only catch being is that we'd need fill out a 6 month and a 12 month review form for each product. This is a major reason it's so appealing to us (RV 3 way/compressor fridge for $750 - RRP 2.5K f\*k yes!).*
- If we get sick of van life - It's a literal investment vehicle, and can resell it if it's done right and has all the right mod cons.
- Renting is expensive AF - i'd rather live in a fully decked out off grid motorhome and stop paying dead money to a landlord...
***WHERE I'M AT:**\* (
and what i'm really wanting clarity on) My understanding thus far of my options are: (
feel free to correct me, this is just my interpretation of the rules at time of writing) - Import a coaster that is 25 years or older. (1999 or earlier)
- Import a coaster that was factory fitted as a motorhome (ultimately stripping it and modernising interiors)
- Import a coaster as a concessional RAV entry, to be converted by aa RAW/AVV (registered automotive workshop and approved vehicle verifier - getting the bare legal minimum to pass compliance then doing the real work myself.
Not relevant, but about me:
Self taught mechanic - grew up knowing zero about cars-, but I like knowing things for the sake of knowing them. I've got a clinical background and do DIY builds (Jamie Savage type stuff) all the time (so I know my way around tools/workshops).
I reasoned a long time ago that if I can fix a human, surely it's not a stretch to install some cabinetry, replace an oil sump pan, replace a radiator especially if i've got a step by step instruction manual...and work safely....they're both machines full of dangerous (
and easy to break) stuff right? Haven't had any issues yet....
Yet for some reason, how to import a car is as clear as mud...
Thanks for reading - I appreciate you taking the time to offer relevant advice! submitted by

2024.06.03 04:23 Slow-Goal-7809 What car to buy, when I’ve owned them all
Okay, perhaps the title is slightly misleading. I haven’t owned every car, but I’ve owned a whole lot of them.
I have OCD. My experience over the last 32 years of life is that sometimes I obsess over things that are troubling, but mostly I fixate on things that are fun and enjoyable, like what car I want to drive or what my next new hobby should be. I got my first car at 13 years old when I bought a Pontiac transport from an old lady at church because the windows didn’t roll down and I spent a few days cleaning it up, rode my bike to the local auto parts store for new switches, and made something like $700 bucks when I sold it a couple weeks later. I was hooked, and not just with cars, motorcycles too. I’ve always been handy and fixing things up and selling them has been a lot of fun and has funded an otherwise money pit hobby.
Fast forward a lifetime and I don’t really need to hustle the way I once did. I buy a new car, drive it for a few weeks, get bored and trade it in. I never lose a whole lot of money because I’m always after a good deal and seem to get on with the dealership managers quite well. But with young kids, a fairly demanding job, travel and hobbies eating up my free time, I don’t really want to be swapping cars anymore.
Here’s a very much NOT comprehensive list of vehicles I’ve owned in the last few years: - several jeep wranglers and gladiators - first gen tundra - 3rd and 5th gen 4Runners - Subaru WRX - Toyota Tacomas (1st, 2nd and 3rd gens) - Corolla GR Premium - F150 (5.0, 2.7, and 3.5) - Mustang GTs
I’ve genuinely owned probably 100 or so vehicles in my life. I currently own a 2024 jeep wrangler sport that I intended to do a Dana 60 swap on. The thing is, every vehicle I buy, I end up putting a lot of time and money into. I’m getting to a point where I like the idea of a car being just a means to get around and not having it be my main hobby.
So here’s my question, for the recovering car enthusiasts out there, what is the single car you have enjoyed the most without needing to do anything to it (obviously besides maintenance).
I’m intrigued by something like a Mazda CX50 (though I’ve read they burn oil) or a Subaru Outback (even though I’m not a fan of CVTs). What else am I missing? Here are some requirements: - ample back seat space for kiddos - light towing capability for dirt bikes - AWD or 4x4 is a nice to have - 3 pedals is a big plus but probably not likely
Let’s hear it y’all. Thanks!

2024.06.02 21:57 hautbois69 3rd gen ranger versus 2nd gen tacoma, thoughts?
looking for any opinions on the reliability of a 3rd gen ranger versus a 2nd gen tacoma given i find one in decent shape and take care of proper maintenance
im searching for a reliable little truck to daily and do a fair amount of traveling/camping in. ive been driving an AWD sedan, but am now looking for something i can lay flat in when im camping and the added clearance would be a serious bonus for forest roads
i want 4x4, manual transmission, and a 6' bed. other features don't really matter as much to me (i.e. cabin size)
based on what im finding within my budget and staying under 100k mileage, i pretty much have narrowed down my search to either a 2nd gen toyota tacoma (2005-2015) or a 3rd gen ford ranger (1998-2011) (although if anyone has a low mileage second gen ranger in decent shape, id pay for that)
been doing a fair bit of research, but would really love to hear of some experiences, a direct comparison of the two if possible. any other advice is more than welcome as well
thank you!!

2024.06.02 21:01 FlyinTrunkMonkey CV Axle Boot
| I have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 with a torn CV axle boot at 70,000 miles. Running a leveling kit but everything is still original parts. Few questions. Is it worth just replacing the whole CV axle rather than rebooting it? Any particular brands I should look at for a CV axle replacement? Quality is more important than price to me. Anything else I should plan to replace at this mileage while I’ve got the CV axle pulled? Thanks! submitted by FlyinTrunkMonkey to ToyotaTacoma [link] [comments] |
2024.06.02 19:12 Cheap_Positive_9240 Toyota Pickup 92 4x4 3.slow
Here’s my 92 Pickup, had it a year now and loving the process of getting it back in fighting shape. Replaced everything made of rubber under the truck, lots of rust clearing and underbody painting. Nothing major done yet to the truck yet, just wanting to get it solid again. Next big move will be 3.4 swap but so far the 3.0 runs perfect with 220k. The plan is to keep this truck for a long time. A few progress shots.

Options seem to be F150xl or xlt 2016 or older.

2024.06.01 08:08 McRobbie9 What would you do?
Evening fellow Toyota lovers! Wanted to get y’all’s take.
Currently, I’m sporting a 2021 TRD Sport 4x4 Tacoma. I’m about to hit 60,000 miles after purchasing it “used” off the lot in December 2020. It was a loaner truck that literally hit the lot the same day I took it home. With that, they had to give me the “used” price. Got all the bells and whistles on the truck for $43,000.
It’s a fantastic truck and I’ve honestly never had a problem with it. I take it in every 5000 miles for oil changes, keep it clean, and just fork over the money that the dealership recommends I need to service.
I have about $15,500 left on a 2.5% auto loan and the truck is worth about $33,000. I’m basically driving for free at that rate.
The problem? I think I’ve outgrown it. Literally. I’m about to be 30 years old and am 6 foot flat on a good day. My head sits actually 1 inch from the roof of the vehicle. Hit a speed bump out of nowhere? You just banged your head to oblivion. The problem stems from the moon roof lowering the head clearence a bit, and yes, I have lowered my chair as far as it goes. My hair literally touches the ceiling. I just put new $900 tires on it 1,000 miles ago that I know is not taken into consideration in the value.
I honestly dread having to sit in this thing for longer than 20 minutes. Especially knowing that there are alternatives. Can’t put a price on Mental health?
How was this not noticed in test drives? Baseball cap and excitedness of buying my first truck.
Why now is it a big problem? Had a mini panic attack during a 4 hour car ride. Felt claustrophobic. Current stretch my torso without having to bend my head. I’d like to start a family in the next two years, how the HELL do I fit a baby seat in the back row of this truck? The wife is 5’10” if that helps.
What’s the substitute? One of those beautiful 2024 $73,000 1794 Edition Tundra with all the bells and whistles. 3.99% financing for 60 months. The truck is amazing. I REALLY value technology.
So, after my book of a post, my questions is… would you suck it up another 2 years or bite the bullet and get the newest toy?

Prefer minimal road noise, good mileage, doesn't have to be 'too' luxury. Doesn't need to be new. Would like reliable, easy to maintain, etc. I've had in my lifetime a honda accord, toyota sienna and am driving my husband's 4x4 chevy. I like being up higher for sure, but would like something not as massive as a truck.
