2024.06.05 06:30 oxP3ZINATORxo I'm looking to pitch a story to reporters and make a big stink. How to do it?

There's a a fairly decent sized community of auto enthusiasts in the US, much like the Low Rider community, centered around a classification of vehicle called Kei Vehicles. They include trucks, vans, etc. These are small mostly Japanese vehicles with a strict classification system. They have to be 660cc engines or under, weight limits, etc. Due to lobbying from Mercedes Bends in the 80's so import vehicles would stop eating into their bottom line they, like all foreign vehicles, are illegal to import for anything but off road use if the vehicle is 25 years or newer; due to the vehicles not meeting the EPA's or the US's safety requirements. But that's a whole other bag of worms that I'm not going to get into.
What I want to cause a stink about is that after 25 years (Now 1999) these vehicles become exempt from those EPA and safety requirements and are considered classic cars, "free" to import and theoretically register, title, and freely drive on the road. There is a quickly growing community surrounding these vehicles (see keitruck) and it's beautiful. I actually have my first on order from Japan for $2700 total. A friggin steal and it gets about 32 MPG. 20+ states have common sense laws surrounding kei vehicles, those laws being keeping them off the highways, limited to roads 45 -50 mph or lower, etc. 10+ other states have no laws what so ever regarding them. Recently Virginia has rescended all existing kei vehicle registrations and they will no longer be registering them going forward, Gorgia put out a notice saying that they will not respect other state's registrations of the vehicles. And then we have a few states, like Michigan (my state) that are quietly shadow banning them from getting registered and titled. All of this "due to safety."
I have emails going back and forth with Jackie Venton, the COO of the Michigan SOS where I'm asking her to quote the law that outright bans kei vehicles from Michigan roads, or titling and registering them. She replies with a law that bans them due to EPA and safety regulations. I remind her that the vehicles become exempt from those laws after 25 years, and again ask her to quote me the law that outright bans them. She couldn't. She sent me a NHTSA Interpretation that while does deal with kei vehicles (noted as "mini trucks" in the interpretation), if you notice the dates it's about a 2000 kei vehicle at a Congressional hearing of some sort set in 2009. So again has nothing to do with what I'm talking about, as after 25 years imported vehicles become exempt from those safety requirements and that mini truck was very shy of that requirement. She also responded with a statement basically saying that the department can do what it wishes. She never did quote me any laws about kei trucks.
Now don't get me wrong here, these vehicles are not safe by today's standards by any means. They are a cab over frame vehicle, which means that the body of the vehicle is bolted to the top of the chassis, instead of the chassis being a part of the body. There aren't any crumple zones, so if you get into an accident chances are you're going to get messed up if you're going over 45 mph. BUT they're safer than motorcycles (Which we let on the highways), mopeds, and A LOT of classic vehicles (Like the Model T) that we allow on the roads without batting an eye, and these kei vehicles aren't a danger to anyone other than the occupants. To add to this, here in Michigan we have what are colloquially known as "Rat Rods", and to the DMV as "Assembled Vehicles." These are vehicles that are just slapped together and can be titled and registered for on road use, so long as they have seat belts and lights. All you have to do is go to the police station and have an officer inspect the vehicle making sure that all of the part numbers match up so you aren't trying to hide stolen parts. That's it.
I'm not advocating for kei trucks to be allowed on highways by any means, they absolutely should not be. But there should be common sense legislature surrounding their use, as seen in those 20+ states that I mentioned. I personally want my kei truck purely to drive around my mid-size town (34k as of 2022) for misc house work, and purely to commute the 10 minutes to and from my work. Maybe if I get spunky I'll take it out of state on camping trips, making sure to take back roads the whole way.
Here are some bonus Youtube videos to give you an idea:

2024.06.05 06:27 revocer Evolution of the RAV4 “head unit”.

We see tons of photos of the exterior of cars. So how about the interior, specifically the head unit. I’m curious to see the evolution of the RAV4 “head unit” across all generations. If folks are down, please share a photo of your head unit, and the year, make, model, and trim it came from!
Bonus question: which head unit was your favorite out of all generations?! Why so?!

2024.06.05 06:23 xlerate A message from Senator Chuck Schumer...

Hope you enjoy Salad...
Thank you for reaching out to express your thoughts on drone restrictions. I agree that this is a critical issue, and I am committed to nurturing advancements in drone technology without sacrificing public safety.
As you know, anyone flying a drone or unmanned aircraft system (UAS) is responsible for flying within FAA guidelines and regulations. Restrictions that commonly affect UAS flights include those to protect stadiums and sporting events, airports, and security sensitive airspaces. Airspace restrictions help ensure a drone does not endanger people or other aircrafts. While drone technology offers numerous benefits, it also raises serious safety concerns for the public. I firmly believe that our country can and must continue to lead in these technological innovations while modeling a fierce commitment to responsible usage.
That's why in 2023, I was proud to secure over $44 million for the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Extreme Computing Facility at the Information Directorate in Rome, New York. This facility as garnered a reputation as one of America's premier military research venues, and it is ushering in the next generation of advanced technologies, including UAS innovation, to bolster our national security and status as a technological superpower. As Leader, I will continue promote the benefits of drone technology while ensuring the safety of passengers and aircrafts in our skies.
Again, thank you for contacting me. Please keep in touch with your thoughts and opinions.
Sincerely,
Charles E. Schumer
United States Senator
(Please do not respond to this email. )
---
tl;dr: I got your message about wanting to not lose your ability to fly your drone recreationally.
Did you know we spent $44 million on a military drone program in your state... cool right?
Best,
Chuck

2024.06.05 06:06 StarWars-MCU-Junkie Boomer receptionist jokes about how we treat our baby

Long time reader, first time poster. TLDR: boomer lady jokes we mistreat our baby.
This morning my wife and I, both low to mid 30s, had a meeting to organize the baptism of our first kid who is 7ish months old. We met with a church that we’d gone to a Christmas service at years ago. I’m not religious but my wife grew up somewhat religious, so it’s something that would make her happy.
After finishing the meeting with the pastor, in their office, we stepped out into the lobby area where this boomer lady was the receptionist. Our baby was babbling, being super cute, as a baby does. I know we’re biased about how cute she is, but lots of people always like to stop us and let us know just how lovely she is.
Like the others before, the boomer stopped us and commented on the baby’s babbling, taking a guess at what she was saying… She said something to the effect, “Oh is that right, you’re telling me about how terrible your parents treat you?”
I wish I could say I wasn’t as surprised at what her guess was, since it’s par for the course that boomers hear from their own kids about how they were bad parents, but nonetheless we were dumbfounded. Instead of guessing something cute, fun, or playful… she immediately joked that we are bad parents and would give our baby girl a reason to tell someone about it.
We both were shocked but laughed the entire walk to the car about boomers being… boomers. Awkward AF.
Luckily in the moment I didn’t snap at the lady. Just said back, “Not really, she has lots of fun and baby girl loves how we treat her.” In reality, we had a pretty good feeling that the boomer’s kids probably had a lot of opinions on how she treated them. So that fact and her general boomerness makes her think that our generation can’t raise kids well.
We’ll see if any other awkward comments are made on Sunday at the service…

2024.06.05 06:03 cooperseggs Mother of the bride tries to seduce groom but backfires in her face

Hi Charlotte! Huge fan, love the new Reddit page and love reading the never ending tea that my fellow potatoes have to offer! Now onto the tea that I am here to share....
About a year ago my (25m) best friend (26fm) got married to her fiancé (26m). For a bit of background my friend was an only child and grew up in a very hostile environment and was facing constantly being judged by her mother. Her mother was very vain and was what she called “the absolute best of the best”. Her mother would constantly compare herself to my friend and would judge her whether it was looks, grades, achievements, etc. My friend, being the absolute QUEEN she was didn’t let her mother’s constant judgement put her down in any way. She knew her goals and work very hard in order to achieve them. Whenever she had a setback her dad was always there to comfort and support her while her mother scoffed saying how she could’ve done the same thing in a heartbeat. This behavior lead my friend to slowly distance herself from her mother over the years so that she wouldn’t have to be bombarded with her mother’s judgement. When we graduated and went to college they rarely spoke unless it was during the holidays. Fast forward a couple of years and the pandemic hit, with social distancing regulations my friend couldn’t have happier. Eventually after restrictions loosened me, my friend,, and a few others went to a nice restaurant to chat and catch up. As dinner ended the waiter informed us that the bill had been covered by someone else. We were all shocked and confused as to who paid our bill. Turns out it was my friends coworker who was there with his friends that night and he had noticed her. She had collaborated with him on a project for the company they worked for and got to know him a bit. They exchanged numbers that might and soon they began talking more and more frequently. They began dating almost a month after that dinner and really connected with each other. They had shared many common interests and grew close and closer each day. When she introduced her boyfriend to her family everyone loved him, including her mother which was very odd considering she judged anything that came her way. She seemed to really be interested in him and would interact with him whenever she got the chance. Fortunately my friend told her boyfriend about her mother’s past judgement, so when her mom began running her mouth about how perfect of a woman she was her boyfriend had mentally prepared himself. My friend would eventually get engaged and when she broke the news to her mother, again surprisingly she was thrilled. My friend invited me to be the “Man of honor” to which I gladly accepted. Throughout the wedding planning her mom was very critical of my friends choices for the wedding, as if it was her own. To her mom it was either the color scheme was tacky, the seating chart was botched, even the roles in the wedding were all wrong. Nothing ever seemed to be up to her standards. Even when my friend was trying on wedding dresses, her mom had something to say about each one. One dress she commented on she said that the dress would look better on her than on my friend because it was meant for a much more appealing woman. OH HELL NO!! I was fed up with her to the point that I asked her if anything “appealing” would ever come out of her mouth because me and everyone else was done listening to her bull crap. She backed off finally after she received many death stares and side eyes. My friend found a dress that looked absolutely amazing on her and right then and there she knew that it was the one. Fast forward to wedding and everything is in place and people begin to file in for the ceremony. Note that the color scheme for the wedding was ocean blue and turquoise. My friends mother shows in a tight RACE CAR RED dress barley going below her hips! Nobody notices yet, so her mom takes to opportunity to ask my friends fiancé for help in another room. Minutes later everyone is wondering where the groom is, when all of a sudden when someone very loudly yells for help! Me, My friends in laws, father of the bride, rush over to find the noise coming from behind a locked door. We get it unlocked to see my friends mom topless!! While trying to kiss my friend fiancé! He had called for help because my friends mom was chasing him around trying to seduce him! I was shocked, the in laws were disgusted, and my friends father was furious. My friends mom rushed to get reclothed while I helped the groom back to ceremony while the in laws called for security to have my friends mom removed. Well long story short she was removed while my friends father yelled to her that they were getting a divorce. They ceremony had finally begun, the groom had a smile on his face and my friends dad had calmed down. The reception was a blast, we partied, we ate, and we had the time of our lives!! After the wedding my friends husband and her father explained what had happened before the ceremony. By the time they were telling her this my friends mom had already moved in with a relative of hers. The venue had sent the father the security camera footage of my friends poor husband being chased by a topless banshee. My friend was livid, she called her mom and screamed at her constant judgement over the course of her life and calling her shameless before she hung up and blocked her on everything. After that her father filed for divorce, he kept everything because the amount of evidence against her mom was undeniable. Ever since then my friend and her husband have lived happily in wedded bliss. They’ve invited me and a few other people to celebrate a year of happiness and the downfall of a witch.

2024.06.05 05:51 LateExperience6041 2017 Q7 3.0 Misfire Question

I’ve got a 2017 Q7 3.0 V6 SC that has a cylinder 3 misfire that keeps returning only after the car has warmed up and driven about 20km. The misfire will clear and return only after driving some distance/only with the engine warm. Fault codes that had returned are P0303 - Cylinder 3 misfire P164E - Oil pressure regulation valve electrical error Spark plugs and coils had been replaced as the misfire followed the spark plug from cylinder 3, however the misfire returned after around 20kms of driving. Each spark plug is a little bit wet with oil after driving, and each cylinder was borescoped which showed a fair amount of oil running down the cylinder wall in every cylinder, as well as a very small few pieces of metal noticed in the oil on the wall. Oil consumption has been noted as an issue on this vehicle. Cylinder 3 has a small portion of the piston cleaned off of any carbon, however fuel does not appear to be leaking in and there is no smell of fuel/fuel pressure also does not drop when the engine is turned off. Cylinder 3 has more carbon/wetness on top of the piston and around the valves, however there does not appear to be carbon in excess behind the valves. Compression was around 140-145psi on all cylinders and leak down test was OK. No excessive vacuum in the crankcase. My question is has anybody run into a similar issue on this engine/anything common on this engine that I am missing here? Thanks in advance for any help

2024.06.05 05:37 Brandy_Marsh How much was your first apartment?

I know we always tell each other we had it rough but I was thinking lately about the first place I lived after moving out of my parents house at 17 in the early 2000s. It was a tiny studio 3 blocks from the beach in San Diego and it was 500 bucks a month. I payed rent with a barista job and had enough to have a bit of fun, nothing extravagant but I felt ok. I even bought a car off Craigslist for 2k cash and ran it into the ground. Eventually I got a roommate and we rented a 2 bedroom apartment for 850 in a really fun part of downtown.
I can’t help but feel sad for the next few generations because is that even possible anymore? Like how would a 18 year old with no education even be able to afford to live? Boggles the mind. We gotta help these kids man. This isn’t fair.

2024.06.05 05:27 1955chevyguy Another workspace...

Another workspace...
I know it looks like tons of space... but I'm a car guy first and a majority of my garage is tools and my '55 Chevy. The work bench holds my spray booth and a bit of space on each side. To the right is my air compressor. When I'm painting, it's usually at about 140psi, regulated to 60psi. A short hose goes to another regulator that is set for whatever I'm spraying, generally 15-20psi. As you flip through the pictures, you'll see a Craftsman rolling box that is dedicated to model building. That entire stack is a mix of Craftsman Tradestack (bottom two), Versastack (middle on up) with little DeWalt boxes for the air brushes. There is a system here! The top section with the little boxes are air brushes and air brush "support" like swabs and droppers. The part with the two small drawers is general model stuff =knives, files, etc. This small two drawer section goes inside with me and sits on the kitchen table when I'm building. I live in the Phoenix area and it's likely about 100 degrees in the garage (8pm at night) = the reason I generally build inside the house at the table. The lower, larger drawers are all paint. The very bottom is somewhat hard to access so I just keep "overstock" there. When I can save a few bucks, I buy in bulk.

2024.06.05 05:10 LoudAd1990 2010 honda civic respray or wrap

hii! i’m looking for advice on which option would be better or your own personal opinion on my current situation.
i recently purchased a 2010 honda civic that definitely needs work cosmetic wise but i didn’t mind that when it came to my purchase because i believe i have enough money saved up to do the work.
my first issue is there are rusts spots under the door a small spot behind the wheel. i’ve already researched mechanics who can fix it so that’s somewhat resolved, and then my second issue would be the paint. the previous owner spray painted certain spots because this generation is known for its bad coat peeling. so far it’s whatever to me but i do know soon i would want to get it resprayed or wrapped.
but this is my dilemma lol. i’ve read that getting my car wrapped is cheaper than it would be getting it resprayed but the difference would be any cuts or dents would be visible through vinyl? hopefully that’s correct because that’s what i’ve grasped.
i plan on driving this car into the dirt until i get my dream car honestly. so what’s your thoughts, opinions, advice? (please me kind i am just a girl 😭🫡)

Morgan Stanley's wealth arm under probe by multiple regulators, WSJ reports
By Reuters
April 11, 2024
April 11 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley's (MS.N), opens new tab wealth management arm is being probed by multiple regulators, the Wall Street Journal reported, opens new tab on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and other Treasury Department offices are involved, the report said. The bank's shares fell 4.8% in late afternoon trading to $87.17.
Regulators are assessing whether the bank has sufficiently investigated the identities of prospective clients, the sources of their wealth, and how it monitors their financial activity, the report said.
Some of the probes are also focusing on international clients, the report added. Morgan Stanley declined to comment. Spokespeople for the SEC, the OCC and the Treasury did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
Morgan Stanley's wealth management unit caters to high net-worth individuals and small to medium-sized businesses, providing them with brokerage, custody, investment advisory and financial planning services.
The wealth business generates steadier income compared with investment banking, which is closely tied to economic cycles. Revenues from wealth management have helped Morgan Stanley expand its market capitalization beyond rival Goldman Sachs.
Morgan Stanley recently resolved a years-long investigation into its block trading practices. It also nominated former UK financial regulator Megan Butler to its board of directors.

Episode 7 - "Farmer Bren"
“Isn’t it amazing?”
Commander Bren was trying to simply enjoy the view but he struggled to relax, as his brain calculated the volume of water, the speed it reached as it spilled over the edge, and what the rocks must look like under the falls, after centuries of erosion. After Commander Klein’s question Bren managed to shut down the critical thinking for a moment. As he watched the water flow over the falls his imagination led his mind to a space he wasn’t familiar with. He was thinking of the water, and of space. Bits of wood occasionally flowing with the water, like a spaceship in space.
Commander Klein watched as Bren seemed to shut down his mind and just enjoy the view. Klein relaxed as Bren relaxed. Finally. Klein had been about to give up. He had taken Bren to several natural wonders across the eastern parts of North America, and Bren had calculated the years a tree took to grow “that way,” what type of fauna would live in the forest along a rugged mountain river, caves, canyons, gardens, just problems to be solved. Finally, Bren was enjoying something. Niagara Falls. In the past it had been a tourist trap. Fascinating, but surrounded by tacky gift shops and hot dog stands. Now the natural surroundings made it an uncluttered connection to nature. For long minutes Bren didn’t move, just letting his eyes scan the area, following the flow of water in so many different places, all heading to the same spot eventually.
Klein allowed himself to be hypnotized by the falling water. Finally, Bren broke the silence. “This water, flowing, yet, as you go smaller it becomes droplets, then molecules, Hydrogen and Oxygen bonded together. Atoms to molecules to drops to gallons to a river to an ocean.”
Klein smiled. Even Bren’s relaxed state was science based, and technically, Bren wasn’t even a scientist. He was a diplomat. A fact driven home over the past week as Bren spent hours discussing protocols and agreements with Earth’s leaders. Although Klein and Captain Gardner spent time in those meetings, Bren was there for all of them. 12-16 hours every day, as Bren kicked into full diplomatic mode. It was impressive to watch, although incredibly boring. But Bren was as energetic as Klein had seen him. He seemed truly excited to discuss viral threats and currency exchanges while Klein sat waiting to see if they would need him for the next four hour block. He was relieved when it was over, and they got a few days off on Earth. His thoughts were interrupted by Bren, continuing.
“It occurs to me Commander, your method of FTL is like a tree branch going over the falls.” Klein smiled at the analogy. Bren continued, “But most FTL is more akin to the canal upstream. A shortcut across the field that is a far smoother way to negotiate that distance.”
Klein realized Bren was hinting at different methods of FTL in real life. He looked carefully at the canal on his pad, looking at the satellite overview. The canal he spoke of connected two branches of the river, allowing access across a great distance that would not be possible without the canal. “Like a wormhole?”
Bren smiled. “That is a fair analogy, but I was thinking more of the method of propulsion. Engines aren’t allowed in the river, so generated wave movement in the canal pushes the water in either direction, negating the need for motorized transport.”
Klein tapped the screen, looking for more information on the canal. He made a note, and sent the article to his personal message center. He’d have to read it later. “Why don’t you just tell me?”
Bren smiled, “Protocol.”
Klein nodded. Bren had made his dislike of Snap FTL apparent early on. Clearly other species in the universe didn’t use Snap. But Bren couldn’t share the details. So he dropped hints for Klein. A puzzle Klein hadn’t put together yet. Bren turned to Klein.
“This has been a refreshing break. Quite enjoyable. Shall we travel to meet Lieutenant Jeffries?”
Klein examined Bren. He actually did look refreshed. He smiled. “Yes, let’s go. I can’t wait until we fly over the Rocky Mountains. Maybe that will impress you.” Bren looked confused.
“I have been quite impressed Commander. The diamond mine was very informative. Especially how your people took the hardest mineral on your planet and exploited it for expensive trinkets and jewelry, instead of practical uses.”
Klein was unsure what Bren regarded as relaxation as they approached the shuttle.
As expected, the trip over the Rocky Mountains caused Bren to discuss Earth’s tectonic movements, as well as a discussion on volcanoes and again, erosion. Some of the canyons along the Utah/Colorado border did get his attention, as Klein flew as low as was allowed. But, as Bren pointed out, his world also had mountains.
As they turned north, they followed the trail of cities and towns along the mountains in Utah. Klein explained to Bren that somehow, Utah had avoided any major damage during the war. Utah certainly had a history of nuclear testing in the past, but as a low population area, with mountains, there was nothing of value worth destroying. Other nearby states, flatter states, had missiles located around the area and as such, were overrun in places by groups attempting to commandeer them. Battles played out, with a few warheads detonating underground. Utah had nothing to steal, and mostly fighters just bypassed the state. This was the reason so many farms had survived. As they approached northern Utah Klein marveled. “It’s amazing that Bella’s family has been on that farm for almost two-hundred years.”
Bren noted, “That is not uncommon on Klaan, but we haven’t had a major military conflict in over three thousand years.”
As they dropped to landing range Jeffries lit a smoke flare on the ground for Klein. There wasn’t much wind, but it was a legal requirement in this area, as there was no official landing pad for 100 kilometers.
As Klein and Bren hopped off the shuttle Jeffries charged up to them, excited. She stopped and offered a salute, but Klein dismissed it as they hugged, and she turned to Bren. “I’ve never asked, is a hug an acceptable form of greeting for Klaan?”
Bren shrugged, “It is not forbidden.”
She snickered as she gave him a hug, then pulled them both toward the main farm. “You made it just in time to help me feed the sheep before dinner.” Klein rolled his eyes as Bren searched his memory files. She noticed his look and pointed to a field. “Sheep!”
Bren looked up. “Ah, I have the definition of the word, but have no images to refer to.” This seemed to be what finally caused Bren to relax, as he watched the furry sheep make noise and follow them as they headed to the feed area. He noticed Jeffries speaking to the sheep. “Do they — understand you?”
She chortled. “They don’t know what I’m saying, but they know that I’m about to feed them.” Klein nudged Jeffries as Bren stopped near a few sheep who took an interest in him.
He looked at them curiously. “Hello sheep, lambs, rams, ewes. I’m Bren, and we are here to feed you.” The sheep bleated as they jostled to get closer and Bren seemed delighted. Jeffries came up and pulled a handful of alfalfa from a nearby bale, handing it to Bren and pointing for him to hold it out. As expected, the sheep forced their way to the green treats and nibbled away. Bren was overjoyed. He turned around looking for more. Jeffries pulled another bunch and gave it to Bren, who turned and hand fed the sheep again. He bounced like a child and Jeffries grabbed his arm.
“If you like that you’ll love this.” She entered a feeding area, troughs and platforms lined one side, and she directed Bren toward the feed line. “Do you want to release the levers and load the bins, or distribute the alfalfa?”
Bren looked, “Both!”
She pulled him forward. “At each station pull the lever, it will release the feed pellets into the bins.” Bren pulled one, and it did just as she described, and a few sheep pushed in, while others waited at stations down the line. “Now do the same to the others!” Bren excitedly went down the line releasing levers as the sheep began eating. He got to the end and looked back proudly. Jeffries pointed at a bale of alfalfa on a hanging trolley. “Take a couple layers off the end and put in the area next to the bins.”
Bren pulled at the bailed brick of alfalfa and pulled a few layers off, then put them carefully in the area she had indicated. Jeffries laughed. “This isn’t fine dining, you can just toss it in.”
Bren smiled as he pulled the trolley down the line, continuing to carefully place the greens in each area. When he reached the end where Klein sat on a bale of alfalfa and Jeffries was grinning, Bren spoke. “I haven’t ever seen animals such as these up close. On Klaan we do not keep farm animals. We have designated reserves, but we’re not allowed to interact. These animals are deserving of respect, and I treated them as such.” He smiled. “We will do more with them?”
Jeffries looked at him, seeing a side of him he hadn’t shown in the three months he’d been on the ship. He was always happy when they found a sleeper ship, but he seemed truly moved by his experience feeding sheep. “Yes Commander, we will put them inside tonight, and feed them tomorrow before breakfast.”
Bren smiled. “Excellent!” Jeffries took them both by the arm and guided them to the house, where the scent of home cooking was already sneaking out onto the farm.
Bren had never experienced a feast such as was served by Jeffries’ mother. Bren had awkwardly asked if any animal meat was present, and she assured him it was not. After dinner she explained as Bren asked for more details on the food. “We have excellent meat substitutes, but mostly this is just vegetables, grown right here in the ground.” She smiled, “It’s a wonder you all can survive out there, eating the — stuff — you eat.” She looked at her daughter. “Bella has lost too much weight!” Jeffries rolled her eyes. She stood to gather plates, as did Klein. Mrs. Jeffries scolded him to sit. “You are a guest, sit!” She asked for details on everything that had happened and Klein and Bren gladly answered her queries. She seemed very impressed, especially when they told the story of Jeffries clamping a shuttle on top of the Sellane fighter.
She laughed, “That is the only time you can land on top of another vehicle without getting in trouble. Lord knows she turned some tractors sideways here in the past.”
Jeffries looked at her carefully… “Mom, don’t…”
Mrs. Jeffries continued over her daughter’s protests. “Bella once tried to take a tractor into town to buy candy. She was twelve. Of course she drove tractors on the farm, but not on the roads.” Jeffries groaned as the story continued. “She was still dragging a partial trailer load of alfalfa. She trundled down the road into town, went into the store and bought her candy. What was it Belly?”
Jeffries sat down. “Gummy bears.”
Mrs. Jeffries continued, laughing along the way. “She realized that the way she had parked she was stuck. She had to back out onto the street. On a farm you don’t get traffic, but in town…” Jeffries sighed. “So little Bella just backed up. Right onto the car driven by the mayor. This caused the stacked hay to shift and the whole trailer slid to the side, dumping bales of hay onto the main street and the mayor’s car.”
Jeffries stood up. “OK, enough reminiscing, we’re going to put the sheep in for the night.”
Her mother tilted her head. “Just check the cameras and remote close the barn. No need to go out there.”
Jeffries smiled, “It seems like more fun to go.” She nodded at Bren, “You coming?” Bren jumped up, bowing to Mrs. Jeffries as he stumbled to follow. Jeffries smiled at her mother as she shrugged. “He likes the sheep.” She stopped a moment as she heard her mother speak to Klein.
“Let me show you some pictures James.” Jeffries gathered herself and proceeded to catch up to Bren.
Just before sunrise Jeffries woke and quickly got dressed to go out to the sheep. Her mother was in the kitchen, she pointed at the camera feed. “I already let the sheep out. I checked the timestamps, he’s been waiting out there for an hour.” Jeffries looked and sure enough, there was Bren, strolling up and down the fence line with handfuls of alfalfa, feeding whichever sheep chose to follow him. She went to the hall and pulled on boots, grabbing another pair as she left.
Bren was talking to the sheep as Jeffries approached. He saw her and exclaimed, “Good morning Lieutenant!” She waved.
“Go ahead Bren, just like last night.” Bren excitedly moved down the line, pulling levers and then distributing alfalfa. He reached the end and Jeffries plopped the extra boots down in front of him. “Put these on, you should be able to pull them on over your shoes.” He looked at her curiously. She smiled as she headed for a gate. He stood and she called him over. “Come on Old MacDonald.” They stepped into the area with the sheep as she grabbed a chunk of alfalfa.
They jostled into the middle of the sheep pen and a few sheep took notice, coming to see what was up. They nudged and bleated to get their attention and Jeffries thought Bren might overload. He seemed so happy. His behavior was unlike anything she had seen. As they fed and petted the sheep a message came across the communication system in the feeding area. It was Commander Klein.
“Can you hear me?” Jeffries looked at the camera and gave a thumbs up. He continued. “Hurry back when you’re done. Change of plans.” Jeffries nodded to Bren who stepped away, somewhat disappointed. She looked curiously as the sheep seemed to line up and nuzzle as he walked past them. She looked at him questioningly.
“Klaan are not telepathic, but we do have strong empathetic projection with some beings. Maybe they sensed my sadness at leaving.” Indeed as they left the sheep lingered, looking at them as they returned to the house.
When they reached the house Klein was gathering bags and packages. Bren had asked for some vegetables and Mrs. Jeffries was more than happy to oblige. Klein waved them inside. “Captain Gardner called. He’s already at the ship, and we have about an hour, instead of picking him up we’ll go straight on. But, no way we get out of here without breakfast.” He grinned as Bren noted the bags full of carrots, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and other foods to take with them.
As they ate Klein explained. “We received an automated distress call, definitely an Earth ship, and an actual distress call. So we are going to investigate.” They had planned one more day on the farm and a day spent in the Seattle area with Gardner before returning to the ship. That would have to wait. Mrs. Jeffries piled up the food, pancakes, breads and fruits, as well as traditional breakfast items, (without meat for Bren) all asking to be consumed.
After gorging themselves they packed the shuttle and Mrs. Jeffries stood with them as they prepared to leave. Jeffries hugged her mother and they held the embrace. Mrs. Jeffries spoke. “I received a note from your Captain. He is quite impressed with you. I’m so proud, but I still miss you.” They both teared up a little before Jeffries moved inside.
As she prepared to fly back to the Shepard, her mother lit the requisite smoke flare. They lifted and Klein looked down. He was a bit unnerved. “What did you guys do with the sheep? I feel like they’re watching us?” Bren smiled wide as Jeffries laughed.
“Apparently Bren can communicate with sheep.” She laughed again as Klein looked at him curiously before they pulled away from the staring eyes of a few dozen sheep on the Jeffries’ farm.

2024.06.05 03:24 CBD_Sasquatch Disabled dude needs lightest weight super zoom camera for wildlife photography on a budget.

I've been going to a wildlife refuge that is popular with professional and very enthusiastic amateur wildlife photographers that have telephoto lenses that cost as much as a car. But I've had 4 spinal fusion surgeries and there's no way I can handle the weight of even an ordinary SLR with a 200mm lens.
I have very extensive photography experience, 8 years or photography classes starting in the 80's processing and printing my own black and white images in school darkrooms. While I was in graduate school I needed to do a lot of macro work with much of it underwater and used a Canon PowerShot G7 with an underwater housing (still use it for wet or underwater conditions) Because I'm going to be in the field and live in the Pacific Northwest, it ideally needs to be able to survive at least a light mist of rain.
I've seen some of these "super zoom" cameras and I think something like that would be perfect for me and would be quite happy with a significantly cheaper or used one that was a generation or 2 behind current tech if the lens works well, as I'm still happy with that Canon G7 that I bought in 2007 despite also owning a much newer Canon PowerShot G5x
My research points to current models such as the Canon PowerShot SX70 which would probably be most familiar to me since Canon cameras are what I've used for almost 20 years. But there's others out there that are cheaper and might be better for my current needs.
I'm willing to buy used or buy an outdated model and have a budget no more than about $500.

2024.06.05 03:05 Beneficial_Stay4558 31 [M] NJ/NY/PA Northeast USA - Looking for something genuine with great conversation. Long term ideally.

I'm 31 years old, live in NJ. 5'9", 165 lbs (fit/athletic build) 3rd generation Chinese American (my family immigrated here in the 1900s). My family identifies as American as we tend to eat more pasta than rice and my generation has not learned the language. College educated with a Bachelor's in Biomedical Science (switched from an Engineering major...turns out I don't like theoretical math); currently working in the pharmaceutical industry and pretty much love the industry as there isn't any work drama and it's relatively straightforward yet challenging.
I've tried a few long distance relationships and they're quite difficult to manage...they were great when we able to meet in person and I didn't mind putting in the extra work. I'd be willing to try one if the distance is reasonable and the there is a definite spark between us. I am pretty sure I fit the definition of a demisexual, so I'll be strictly trying to form a connection first. I REALLY need the emotional connection before there is a sexual attraction, mentally I can't do hook ups (they're just really hard for me to handle and I have turned people down).
Personality wise I've been told that I tend to bring people together and keep things fun. I have a few different groups of friends and communities I am often with...and they can vary from the youngsters (21 to 30) to the old guys (60+) to the group that's around my age. I would say I'm pretty good at conversing and I try to stay on top of most current events. Mentally I'm an old man and feel more comfortable in that setting, so much that I literally hang out with 60+ years olds at the gym after a workout in the hot tub. I call them the hot tub gang and it's always a set of regulars where we might talk about the same thing every single day until someone newer to the group says that we talked about it yesterday.
I would say fitness is a major player in my life. I started out hating swimming as a kid, but here I am almost 27 years later...I made it through the lessons at the YMCA, joined a club team, swam in high school, swam in college and now I'm a swim coach and instructor as a hobby/side job in my free time. There's something about being a part of coaching people and watching them grow up and succeed that makes me smile.
My free time in the cold months usually consists of planning DIY projects or working on them. I tend to work on all the cars in the family and am the one that fixes them up or finds replacements for them. Or planning my next road trip to somewhere nicer. Whereas in the warm months I love going down to the beach to go for a swim and have a nice relaxing breakfast outdoors. I do have a few kayaks that I'll bring out to go with friends or if I feel it's safe a nice solo paddle to clear my mind. When I think about it, too many of my hobbies involve water. But I do enjoy things on dry land I promise!
I'm really looking for someone I can grow together with, a long term or forever relationship. I want a relationship where both of us put 100% in all the time and if we don't, we can talk to each other about our concerns and work it out. Honestly what I've realized is that maybe I am altruistic...I miss making someone feel happy and loved, miss the good morning texts, the waiting around all day just to see their texts, I miss spoiling someone and the feeling of that feeling of seeing that look that you get when someone truly loves you. I would love to slowly get to know you by having some conversations where the time just flies, then to a point where we talk nonstop, maybe some in person dates and then maybe eventually settle down together and enjoy life together.
Important stuff: Although I enjoy interacting with kids and it's a major part of my life...I don't want any of my own so...sorry if this is a dealbreaker for anyone. I don't drink (except for maybe wine at special occasions....I get really bad Asian Flush so I'll turn bright red if I smell alcohol essentially lol), not into smoking/drugs (Bad asthma and I'm just not into any of that stuff). I don't judge anyone that's into drinking or recreational drugs, it's just not for me personally. Religion wise, I'm Agnostic. Politically I lean relatively to the left.
I'm really searching for that genuine connection; voice calls are definitely a plus and would love to get to know you. It's alright if we end up just as friends that talk here and there.
If it sounds like you could be the one send me a chat or DM and tell me a bit about yourself. My name is Kevin and I'd love to know about you.

2024.06.05 02:54 NoMoreCheeters I think Keith wants them to charge or sue him so he can get into discovery with a $200 million legal fund.

Keith Gill is the only person on the planet who has $200 million and doesn't care if he loses it or spends it blowing up a fraudulent financial system. This is one pissed off dude who can live happily eating chicken tendies dipped in pilsner for the rest of his life off of $5 million that I'm sure he's already banked in an income generating ultra-conservative account. He doesn't give a shit about the rest.
3 years ago someone told him to STFU or else. For 3 years he sat quiet and obeyed the gag order. If someone had fucked you and your entire community and you had $34 million dollars (as of 3 years ago) what would you do? You'd covertly assemble a team of lawyers to advise you on how to get even.
So what do you do when your muzzle is lifted? Try to blow everything up so it all has to be brought into the light. Every time Wes Christian goes after these turds they fight down to the last second before they would be forced to open their trade books and then settle out of court to avoid it. The brokers won't sue Keith. It's suicide because he would get to open discovery on them in his defense to show that they are in fact the ones manipulating the share price and that is what caused positions to blow up. Suing them will take years and they've gotten very, very good at avoiding the endgame. But if regulators come after him for market manipulation he can force discovery and there's nothing the MM can do to stop it. It all comes to light to prove who the real manipulator is.
Well done Keith. This is the way.
Edit: Getting caught is part of the plan. Thanks scorpiondeathlock86.

Brain Dead People May Not Be Dead – Here’s Why.

A brain-dead person is legally dead, but whether they may be biologically alive is still up for debate.

By Marina Zhang June 02, 2024
It was 1989, and she was still a resident anesthesiologist, Dr. Heidi Klessig recalled in her book, “The Brain Death Fallacy.”
One day, her attending anesthesiologist told her to prepare a brain-dead organ donor for organ removal surgery.
Upon examining the patient, Dr. Klessig was surprised to find that the man looked exactly like every other critically ill, living patient and, in fact, better than most.
“He was warm, his heart was beating, and his monitors showed stable vital signs,” wrote Dr. Klessig. “Nevertheless, on his bedside exam, he checked all the boxes for brain death, and the neurologist declared him ‘dead.’”
Dr. Klessig’s supervising attending anesthesiologist asked her what anesthesia she was going to give the donor for the operation.
Her answer was a paralyzing agent so the donor would not move during surgery, as well as some fentanyl to blunt the body’s responses to pain.
The anesthesiologist looked at her and asked, “Well, are you going to give anything to block consciousness?”

Dr. Klessig was stunned. Consciousness blockers are given to patients to ensure they are not awake and aware during an operation.
Her education told her that brain-dead patients should not be conscious; apart from having a biologically active body, their minds were gone.
“I looked at him and said, ‘Why would I do that? Isn’t he dead?’”
Her attending anesthesiologist looked at her, asking, “Why don’t you give him something to block consciousness—just in case.”
“I get a pit in my stomach every time I remember his face,” Dr. Klessig told The Epoch Times. “I remember him looking at me over his mask ... It seemed very confusing.
“I did as I was told, and I’m very grateful [that I did.]”

Is Brain Dead, Dead?

Once a person is brain dead, they become legally dead, but their bodies are technically still alive.
The definition of brain death, also known as death by neurological criteria, is when a person falls into a permanent coma, loses their brainstem reflexes and consciousness, and cannot breathe without stimulus or support.
Yet a person’s heart can be beating, his or her organs functional, and he or she can fight off infection, grow, and even carry babies to term.
Though they may exhibit no signs of consciousness, some areas of the brain may still work. Around 50 percent of brain-death patients retain activity in their hypothalamus, which coordinates the body’s endocrine system and regulates body temperature.
However, all of this stops if they get taken off life support.
For this reason, physicians hotly contest whether brain death is synonymous with death.
Dr. James Bernat, a neurologist and professor emeritus at the Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine, told The Epoch Times that people who are brain dead are dead because their bodies “no longer function as an organism as a whole.” Without the technology to develop these life support machines, these people would be dead, he said.
Radiologist Dr. Joseph Eble and previous academic hematopathologist Dr. Doyen Nguyen, on the other hand, wrote in an article that machines can only sustain life, not generate it—much like how a dead man could not breathe while on a ventilator.
Another topic regarding brain death is whether a patient can still feel.
Among European anesthesiologists, there is an ongoing debate about whether brain-dead organ donors should be given consciousness blockers during organ procurement.
Some argue that they should do so in case patients feel pain. Others disagree. Surprisingly, the anesthesiologists’ position is “not based on the claim that patients were incapable of experiencing pain,” but, instead, out of concern that the public might have doubts about the brain-death diagnosis, bioethicists Dr. Robert Truog and Franklin Miller (who has a doctorate in philosophy) wrote in their book, “Death, Dying, and Organ Transplantation.”
Dr. Ronald Dworkin, a research fellow and anesthesiologist, wrote in an article on organ procurement that he chose to give consciousness blockers because he thought his patient “might still be a ‘little alive’, [sic] whatever that means,” he said.
Mr. Miller, who is also a professor of medical ethics in medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, said the label of brain death is misleading. He and Dr. Truog, professor of anesthesiology and director emeritus of the Harvard Medical School Center for Bioethics, are of the opinion that brain-dead people are alive but will likely not regain consciousness and recover.
Some say brain-dead patients might actually recover, as in the famous case of Jahi McMath, a 13-year-old girl who was declared brain-dead on Dec. 12, 2013. Her mother opposed her brain-death diagnosis and kept Jahi on life support for four and a half years. Though Jahi could not speak and never regained full consciousness, two neurologists testified that in her final days, she was in a “minimally conscious state.”
Jahi would move to instructions, nurses and doctors testified. Later, an electroencephalogram (EEG) detected brain wave signals.

“Jahi McMath is the sterling example of someone ‘correctly/properly’ diagnosed as being brain dead who subsequently was documented to have recovered brain function,” Dr. Klessig said. The girl was indisputably diagnosed brain dead according to the guidelines of her time and would be diagnosed as such under the new guidelines, she added.

How Is Brain Death Assessed?

According to the most recent brain-death assessment guidelines, published by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) in 2023, brain death is determined through a bedside assessment.
Before the brain-death assessment is conducted, neuroimaging must be done to ensure there is damage to the brain.
“If you see a normal CAT scan or a normal MRI, then you need to be very, very careful and cognizant that you may be going to a false-positive situation,” Dr. Panayiotis Varelas, one of the co-authors of AAN’s 2010 guidelines and chair of the Department of Neurology at Albany Medical College, told The Epoch Times.
After brain injury is confirmed, two doctors then complete the brain-death assessment. The patient is tested twice for their responsiveness to pain stimulus and brainstem reflexes, with a 24-hour interval between each test.
If the patient tests positive both times, the doctors will conduct an apnea test—considered the most conclusive—to see if the person has lost breathing reflexes. In children, there are two apnea tests, one after each bedside brain-death assessment.

To assess brain death, doctors use a pain stimulus, check for brainstem reflexes, then conduct an apnea test if the patient fails both tests. (Illustration by The Epoch Times)
During the apnea test, the patient is taken off the ventilator for 10 minutes. A tube carrying pure oxygen is inserted into the airways. If the patient does not breathe voluntarily, they are considered brain dead.
The apnea test comes with several risks.
For example, those with respiratory failure may experience complications, including severe hypotension, hypoxia, and cardiac arrhythmia.
In a patient whose brain is already compromised, an apnea test may worsen the person’s condition or cause further damage, Dr. Paul Byrne, regarded as a pioneer in neonatology and involved in treating supposedly brain-dead neonates, told The Epoch Times. A worse condition can compound a brain-death diagnosis in individuals who may actually be on track for recovery.
Misdiagnosis could also occur during brain-death assessment.
One example is Zack Dunlap. In November 2007, he got into a traffic accident and was pronounced brain dead at the hospital.

Mr. Dunlap told The Epoch Times that he regained consciousness in the hospital after he was pronounced brain dead and his friends and family were saying their goodbyes.
He tried to scream and move, but nothing happened. Since he was an organ donor, he was soon scheduled for organ procurement.
The family prayed for Mr. Dunlap in the hospital. Mr. Dunlap’s cousin, who is a nurse, didn’t believe it was his time.

The cousin conducted additional tests on him. When the cousin pressed under Mr. Dunlap’s thumbnail, Mr. Dunlap pulled his arm to the other side of the body. This movement revoked the diagnosis.
After a few more days, Mr. Dunlap began breathing on his own. He was discharged a month later.
Dr. Varelas, who reviewed media reports on Mr. Dunlap, told The Epoch Times that Mr. Dunlap’s outcomes looked so good that he suspects some steps may have been missed during the assessment.
If doctors had adequate experience with brain-death assessments and diligently followed the AAN’s guidelines, false positives would not occur, said Dr. Varelas.
While his hospital makes 50 to 60 brain-death assessments every year, smaller community hospitals may make very few. Therefore, doctors at these hospitals may not have enough experience, miss signs, or carry out the brain-death assessments out of order, he added.
Dr. Bernat said that the test often performed incorrectly is the apnea test.
In 2010, neurologists conducted a review for the AAN to evaluate all cases of recovery from brain death in adults between 1996 and 2009. They determined that there were “no published reports of recovery” from brain death if patients were diagnosed correctly using the brain-death diagnostic criteria of the time. Mr. Dunlap’s case was not assessed.
To further complicate matters, several conditions can mimic brain death. These must be excluded before starting brain-death assessments.

Deceptive Death Conditions

The authors of the 2023 AAN guidelines advise that prior to brain-death assessment, all of the following conditions should be eliminated, including:
  • Hypothermia (low body temperature)
  • Autoimmune nervous system diseases
  • Drug overdoses
  • Poisoning
Therapeutic hypothermia, a treatment that lowers body temperature, is commonly used in patients who have been resuscitated after a cardiac arrest. Cooling devices are applied to help the body and brain recover and heal. However, hypothermic patients can take up to a week to regain consciousness
Autoimmune conditions like Guillain-Barré syndrome, which damages a person’s nervous system, can also rob someone of their reflexes and consciousness.
Dr. May Kim-Tenser, associate professor of clinical neurology at Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, reported in 2016 on a case where a patient with a form of Guillain-Barré syndrome was initially misdiagnosed as brain dead.
The patient was admitted to the hospital after showing severe symptoms. Within several days, he became unconscious and unresponsive, lost his brainstem reflexes, and needed a ventilator to breathe.
An apnea test was not conducted. Had the patient been tested in such a way, he would have failed because he would have been too weak to breathe, said Dr. Kim-Tenser.
The patient was then transferred to Dr. Kim-Tenser’s hospital, where he was prescribed autoimmune disease medication. Later, he regained consciousness and some function of his limbs.
Drug overdoses from opioids and cocaine can also cause signs of brain death. An overdose on the muscle relaxant baclofen, for instance, has been known to mimic brain death.
“The brain death guidelines talk about what the mimickers are but not necessarily ways to exclude them. A neurologist should be able to exclude them with testing,” said Dr. Kim-Tenser.

Conflicts of Interest

“There is an intense interest in [brain death] by [organ-procurement organizations], the transplantation community, and patients on organ-waiting lists,” Dr. Varelas wrote in a 2016 article on brain death.
Around 90 percent of all organ donors are brain-dead people. This is because the brain-death definition allows surgeons to procure healthy organs without invoking the “dead-donor rule.”
According to the dead-donor rule, an ethical norm, organ donors must be declared dead before organ procurement, and organ procurement must not cause the donor’s death.
Organs cannot be transplanted from people who are biologically dead, which occurs after a person’s heart stops and he or she cannot be resuscitated.
“When you’re biologically dead, the loss of oxygen to your vital organs causes them to decompose so quickly that you cannot donate an organ,” said Dr. Klessig.
https://preview.redd.it/24lx3dghhn4d1.png?width=1456&format=png&auto=webp&s=8b42f2b8cb3a26b4a3fed11d31831e583f11fcc7
Once a person is biologically dead, their organs cannot be harvested for donation. (Illustration by The Epoch Times)
That said, tissues like cornea, cartilage, bone, and skin can come from dead donors. Live-organ donation can also be done to transplant the lobe of a lung, liver, or kidney.
Doctors who make brain-death assessments must not be involved in the organ procurement process.
“We try to disassociate ourselves from the organ-donation process,” Dr. Varelas said. “In my mind, we try to save the patient’s life, and that’s the goal because the Hippocratic Oath is to do no harm.”
Nevertheless, conflicts of interest exist. Forty-nine percent of the authors of the AAN’s 2023 guidelines on brain-death assessment reported conflicts of interest related to organ procurement.
Synonymizing brain death with death is an issue of non-transparency, Mr. Miller said. However, he said he would not consider organ procurement unethical as long as the donor is well informed.
In the United States, many people sign up to become organ donors when they apply for a driver’s license, and most of them assume that their organs will only be removed in the case of their death, Dr. Klessig said.
“They think, ‘If I’m as good as done, might as well take my organs anyway,’” Dr. Byrne said.
The reality is that their donor status can result in their organs being procured if they become “brain dead,” with their family members unable to override donor status.

Still a Mystery

The concept of brain death started half a century ago, a few years after the first organ transplant was successfully performed.
Organ procurement from comatose people started in the late 1950s. However, this was rare and not practiced under any guidelines. During the same era came a shift in the definition of death.
In 1959, French doctors Pierre Mollaret and Maurice Goulon coined the term “le coma dépassé,“ meaning ”beyond coma“ or ”irreversible coma,“ as a condition synonymous with death. Gradually, brain death, also called ”death of the nervous system,” became a new definition, and organs could, therefore, be procured from such patients.
A month after Dr. Barnard’s monumental surgery, Dr. Norman Shumway performed the first human heart transplant in the United States at Stanford Hospital, removing the heart from a brain-dead donor.
In August of 1968, the Ad Hoc Committee of Harvard Medical School published “A Definition of Irreversible Coma” in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
They defined irreversible coma as a “new criterion for death,” which has become a foundational cornerstone to the brain-death definition.
Despite this, scientists are still uncertain whether the definition or the consequent assessment is perfect.
Regarding Mr. Dunlap’s recovery, Dr. Varelas said, “I am glad this young man survived.” He believes the family’s prayers for Mr. Dunlap could have contributed to his outcome.
“There are powers much higher than our medical knowledge—or the lack thereof,” he said.
“The secret of life—including the definition of life—still remains the deepest and most mysterious one,” said Dr. Dworkins.
Nature may never “permit anyone to know the exact point where brain death becomes real death,” he added.

2024.06.05 02:48 paclogic Toyota, Honda in testing scandal

Five prominent Japanese automakers — Toyota, Honda , Mazda, Yamaha and Suzuki — are accused of conducting or submitting falsified testing data, Reuters reports. A total of 38 models, including six currently available, are implicated. Yet, reports Bloomberg, no cars have been recalled and no operational safety warnings have been issued. Japan’s transport ministry launched an on-site investigation at Toyota's headquarters in Tokyo Tuesday. Toyota has suspended domestic shipments and sales of its Corolla Fielder, Corolla Axio, and Yaris Cross models after authorities flagged faulty data submission during pedestrian safety tests.
