Minimal exposure to radiation seems to not affect the canine species at all. Over time medium exposure to radiation causes test subjects to grow much larger in size and show more wolf-like features. Long-term exposure to radiation turns dogs into feral-like creatures that strongly resemble the characteristics found in wild wolves. Noticeable physical features include -- Tougher and bigger bodies, sharper claws and teeth.

I am forever grateful to Vault-Tec for giving me this opportunity to demonstrate my leadership skills! With that said, the job itself seems pretty easy. I don't have to actually manage any people in the vault (thank goodness for that), and it seems like most of the work has already been done for me. I just have to monitor the animal test subjects and document any visible changes. While normally any personal pets or wild animals are restricted from entering the vaults, testing the long-term effects of radiation on non-human species still makes for good science.10/2
Okay so after getting a day to adjust to my new environment, I think I know where everything that I need to do is located. The vault is not actually that big compared to the ones I've seen on TV. The overseer's office does feel cramp though, but that might be due to the giant monitors used to observe the laboratories. And Dr. Kepler's "pets"... It's a good thing that I'm only staying here for one month.10/5
So the experiment being conducted in the vault is pretty interesting. It has five laboratories that are all self-regulating. The test subjects are provided with all the food and water they need, and all I have to do is to remember to restock the food every three days. It's all stored in this big storage room that is divided between the test subjects supplies and my supplies. And speaking of my supplies, they provided me with some pretty delicious foods and snacks! Not much for entertainment though, there are a lot of technical books and guides about various handy skills in case of nuclear fallout. Kinda stiff reading, but also understandable as this is meant to be a work assignment. At least I'll have something to read to pass the time.10/8
It's been a week so far and I can confidently say that I'm pretty much ready to be an overseer. The test subjects are doing good. Well.. some of them at least. There are some test subjects that seem to notice my presence and become aggressive, even if they don't physically see me. But the others are peaceful and don't make much noises.10/12
This morning I woke up feeling pretty awful. I'm not sure if it was something I ate last night but just to be sure I'll probably stay away from anything that could further upset my stomach. I took some medicine that was in the emergency kit so I should be fine for now. Also, thanks to my predecessors work, I was able to finish writing my notes on test subjects 1-R167 and 3-B496. So congrats me! Now I just have to start on the others.10/19
I wish Vault-Tec included more of those fancy lads among the list of available foods to eat during the training. I don't usually have much of sweet tooth, but those cakes are addictive. Specially when paired with some fresh coffee! Side note, I started to name some of the creatures in the labs. I felt bad just calling them by their designated lab-numbers. I feel it makes it easier to remember and keep track of who is who. Plus, it got me occupied with doing something to do for a while after work.10/22
Another day of feeling under the weather, just a little over a week to go before I'm done with the training. This time my voice has given out, becoming more raspy and hard to speak. I found a Stimpak in the Overseer's office, so hopefully that cures me of any illness I might have gotten. To be honest I think it's a fever or stomach flu. I noticed too late after eating them that some of the YumYum deviled eggs I had were in a damaged package. So I should probably be mindful of food safety from now on. I'm just going to go read and sleep for the rest of day, and hopefully by tomorrow I'll be back to full health.10/23

I was having a late breakfast when the vault suddenly lost power and when the lights went off I accidentally broke one of Dr. Kepler's pet containers. I think it was one of his bug ones. FUCK. I don't even get why Vault-Tec allowed him to store his stuff here. WHO THE FUCK COLLECTS AND KEEPS COCKAROACHES!!! By the time the lights came back on, there was glass scattered everywhere and some of the computers showed error messages. I swear I better not be blamed for this. GODDAMMIT I was almost done with all of this... What even happened upstairs? There was loud bang sound and then everything went to shit.10/24
I have been working all day to try and get the terminals back online. That power out messed with a lot of the devices in the vault. Most of the lab equipment seems fine, but the cameras are no longer showing any video feed. For the time being I've decided to shutdown all test subject cameras to try and conserve some energy. I was able to find a user manual in one of the boxes in the storage room that was all about terminals, but despite my best efforts I am unable to get things back to working order. Every time I try to send a message out to anyone at Vault-Tec hq, the terminals only show the message CONNECTION LOST.10/27
After three non-stop days of dealing with all of the mess from that power out, my body is starting to show signs of stress. The lack of sunlight has definitely made me more dry and wrinkly. I recommend some skin lotion be placed for the next participant. At this point I don't really care if I'm no longer selected to be an overseer. This shit is too stressful to deal with. Just four more days and then someone will come down to check up on me. I can't wait to go back to normal desk job after all of this is done.11/1

Okay something is definitely wrong, I'm sure I should have received some message by now or something. That would probably explain the lack of contact these last two days. When the power went out it must've damaged some areas of the vault much more than I originally thought. I am going to try and see if I can find something in here that can teach me about electrical engineering. If I can somehow re-route power to that section of the vault, then maybe I can open the door and leave. At this point I will probably start to run out of food without a resupply. I can't sleep. Can't stop thinking about them, pounding at my door. I tried to go out when they were sleeping but had no luck. I accidentally slipped on what I assume was blood from some other poor creature. I need to stop making too much noises, otherwise I will be quickly surrounded and then it's over for me. Why am I being punished? I did everything Vault-Tec instructed of me, I took care of those ungrateful bastards outside. I was just an office worker. I just wanted to prove that I was able to contribute more to this company, and for what? So that they just abandon me in this hellhole? OK, I don’t remember if I’m the only one that remembers thus TV show but I swear when I was growing up in the 2000s the show was on Netflix. I remember three things.1. the whole idea of the show was about this girl who became famous because she got her head stuck in a bike rack and she became a famous reality TV star2. I remember two specific events . Where they were going to go to I think Hawaii, but she didn’t bring her passport and she tried to use a magazine cover with her face and it didn’t work and her family got mad at her3. I remember this premise on one of the episodes about the zombie movie. This famous Director was filming in our house and she was gonna be the main part but then she became a side part and the other girl her enemy became the main character, and she basically sabotaged her by accident.

I haven’t been out much in the past several years. We were supposed to be asleep hours ago, but, lying in bed, I just got distracted looking at a map of a place we used to visit as kids and haven’t been to in over 15 years. It was a quiet little town in the desert, but now it’s evidently booming, with all sorts of bars and coffee shops and other signs of secular modernity intermingled with religious staples for the region.
I feel at once angry that I ever had to grow up near such a place—the suffocating gender roles, the irritating fakery, the strict religious conformity, the pretense at greatness amid an endless loop of suburban emptiness—and regretful that I never got to grow up to be my own person there. I didn’t get to see this vacation place change into what it is today because I didn’t exist through all the changes to our collective life and our system. How many layers of reality would have had to be shed for me to be a real person in a place like that? How different would things have to have been for me to actually have a life where I would both get to be myself and reasonably enjoy growing up there? Would we have to have been AMAB, with a different family, in a different decade? I can imagine having a life there that I would have liked, but too many things would have had to have gone differently for any of it to have happened.
I’m starting to switch out now, so I don’t really even remember what I was trying to say, but I suppose I just wanted to vent about how agonizing it can be not only to realize that time has passed and that the places I remember have changed, but also to recognize that there’s no possible timeline wherein I, as myself, as one being in this body, could have grown up to have had the life path that would have fit me as myself. Things went the way they did, I went to the background, others stepped up to the front. Years passed, things changed, we moved, the world shifted, everything’s online now, and Google Maps suddenly refreshes itself, and I see the little dot that is our current home sitting in a field of trees that are too green for my desert past and streets with names that are all foreign to my religious-names memory. This is our life now, but I never got to finish my life.
Even if I hijacked the system and brought us back there, we could never go back to the way things were, and I would have to step away from the front just to handle how different life is today. TV is now YouTube. A pandemic happened. We didn’t magically get a masculine body. Our family is all changed. The world is a different place, and I got lost to the years.

I am hoping this group can help. I am a first time mom to a 2 month old. I work from home full time. I am fortunate enough to work for a company that has a generous maternity leave, so I do not have to return to work until he’s 4.5 months old. Unfortunately, like a lot of families we cannot afford the going rate for day care and we make “too much” for assistance. I live in the greater Seattle Washington area and the prices in all surrounding counties are ridiculous and completely unattainable for me and my spouse.
Before the topic arises, we would not be able to hire in-home help. The only family we have in the entire state is my husband’s parents and they each have their own full time jobs, so they are not able to watch the baby either. Moving along - I WILL have my baby with me when working from home once I go back at the end of July. There is not another solution at this time so I am not asking for alternatives to this. I work in a customer service online chat role. I can be chatting with up to 3 people at a time so there are moments my hands are pretty busy. But AI and premade scripts have made that part of the job a lot more manageable.
My husband and I don’t have the same days off. So thankfully, I’ll only have to work AND care for the baby at the same time 2 days per week. I am open to any and all recommendations for activity mats, activity tables, toys etc. I am fortunate to have a designated area for working from home and it’s large enough to double as a safe play space for my baby. And because me working from home will be indefinite I am open to low stimulation TV show recommendations that I can have available once he’s old enough to watch and enjoy them. I’d like to be able to filter through any suggestions now. 😊
P.s. if your suggestion will be to “quit my job” or find a way to make day care/child care work, please do not comment. I am really hoping this group can provide some recommendations and/or words of encouragement. I had an open call for a talent agency yesterday (over Zoom) in which we had to memorise a commercial.
It didn’t go well at all because I forgot my lines and the feedback I got was all negative, aside from her mentioning that it might be alright because people would love my British accent (it was an American agency).
A couple hours ago, I did receive an email to say I was successful! I spent 10 minutes debating if I should accept but decided to give it a shot because why the hell not. I don’t even think I’ll be able to afford the 5 week training so I’m unsure if I should even turn up or just email to say I can’t attend.
The email stated that I should learn a 30 second monologue of any type, whether it’s from a film, TV show, an emotional one, comedic one, etc etc. The issue is that I’ve only acted once so I’m unsure of what to choose.
About myself: I’m 23, black male and I think I’m pretty good at acting emotionally, angrily or even upset/hurt.
I’ve spent the last hour looking for movie scenes that can convey these emotions but also read online that you shouldn’t just rip out a long speech that someone makes in a movie scene, which has confused me because I thought that’s exactly what a monologue was.
I’d like to ask for any monologues that may suit me or the style I’m going for. I was looking at scenes from The Pursuit of Happyness, Peaky Blinders, The Dark Knight trilogy and a few other movies I really enjoyed. I also wanted to do Matthew McConaughey’s “King of the jungle” speech from The Gentleman but thought there were too many expletives in it.
My only previous acting experience was in a play called “Children of Killers” that I did when I was 17.
Edit: I believe I used the wrong terminology in calling them an agency. They told us that they are talent/casting directors and that they would train us if they found us to be suitable picks, which would then lead on to us finding agents to get bookings and auditions.

Apologies in advance, this is gonna be a long post.
I met my gf, who I'm gonna refer to as Jess, through online dating back in 2022. Ever since started talking with her, I felt a good connection, and was quickly head over heels for her.
During our fourth date, we had planned on going to a concert, and on the way we were having a conversation. I cant remember exactly what I was saying, to which she responded something like "Oh, so are we exclusive now?". This shook me a bit and I asked her that I thought so, to which she explained to me that a couple of weeks ago she went out with another guy and made out with. I've always been of the type that goes out with someone, and if theres good chemistry in the first date, I'll focus only on them, so this left me feeling down a long part of the trip, but we still went to the concert.
Some months later, we continue dating. Alls good. At some point she mentions to me that some years ago before meeting me there was a guy who she considered her crush since childhood, and had sex with multiple times. More like a friend with benefits situation. I'll call him Tony and I'll mention this later in the post.
A couple more months later, we are now officially boyfriend and gf. We are sitting at my home watching TV, and I jokingly mentioned "what perks do I get now for being your bf?", to which she responded "why dont we discuss what we each consider cheating?". As with the concert, I was a bit shaken, and was left wondering why would this need to be discussed. For me, it should be implicit that for example dancing with someone way too close, attempting to flirt, etc, would not be ok for your bf/gf. Anyways, I asked her what she meant with that, and she said "For example, I would be ok with you going out to a party and making out with someone else as long as you tell me". At this point, I was filled with anxiety. Why would she think I want this? Is it that she wants it? Am I not enough? She had an open relationship in the past as well, so I also started filling my head with thoughts that she wanted an open relationship. Of course, we ended up agreeing that I didnt want any of that.
I've had an issue my whole life of bottling up things and not telling people in order to not bother them, and I know is not ok. Due to this, my anxiety over these 2 situations started to pile up little by little. There was only one time where I tried her to elaborate further on why she suggested that, we talked about it, but still, my anxiety persisted.
Sometime later, one day she told me that she went out to eat, and the crush which she had a thing with in the past had given her a ride to her home. This also deepened my anxiety as she mentioned it very casually. I didnt even had any idea that they continued speaking.
My gf doesnt have many friends, and the ones that she have, cant hang out much due to them having kids. Due to this, at some point she let me know that she was gonna install the online dating app again to make friends. This again, deepened my insecurities. I asked for the advice of some friends regarding the dating app thing, and one of my friends let me know that in the end, there was nothing much I could do about. It was her freedom of installing the app or not. I dwelled about it, and realized he was right regarding this. I was not trusting her at all.
In the end, my insecurities and anxiety got the best of me. I was crying while going to sleep, due to me missing sleep I would skip the gym, and that would also affect my focus at work. I endured this some months, and eventually starting 2023, I met with her in order to break up. I felt horrible, as I never really opened up about my anxiety or insecurities enough with her, so it came as a shock to her. Theres no person I have ever loved as much.
Mid 2023 I started dating again. I went out with a couple of girls and dated one for around 4 months. I'll name her Mary. Mary and I eventually stopped dating, but now we consider each other friends and eventually text each other. Neither has feelings for the other.
February 2024th, Jessica reaches out to me. She tells me that she was thinking of me and wanted to see if it would be possible for us to talk. I told her I wasnt sure, and she let me know that the reason was, that she was trying to start a new relationship, but the way that I broke up with her (being so sudden), was preventing her from going further with this person.
We saw each other, didnt know what to expect. Thankfully, the conversation went very smoothly. It was like a couple of old friends catching up. We eventually got to talk about why I decided to break up with her out of nowhere. Before responding, I let her know that none of it was her fault, as I thought she was blaming herself. I told her that I should have been more open and communicate better, and added that the past year I had some experiences that allowed me to better understand some of her thinking. For example, this other girl Mary, even though we dated, she had become a good friend of me, and I considered her a good support, thus thinking of her friendship with Tony and that it was a good support for Jess. I also let her know that I had a couple other dates the past year, and if the oppportunity had presented itself, I would have been ok with making out with them, BUT if I considered I had a connection with one of them since the first meeting, I would focus all my energy on that person and stop dating others altogether. During this, she also elaborated more on the nature of her relationship with Tony, and that it was part of the reason she seeked to talk with me.
Jessica had planned a double date a couple of weeks before reaching out to me, and there was trouble on the date. This double date was attended by Jessica, the guy she was dating, Tony, and Tony's gf. At some point during the date, it came to discussion the friend eith benefits dituation that Tony and Jessica had, and Tony's gf apparently made a scene in the restaurant due to this. Additionally, Jessicas guy was also a litte bit uncomfortable with their past history. This caused Jessica to have an anxiety attack, and thats when she decided to reach out to me.
Jessica and I eventually ended our chat, and parted ways. The next day I wrote to her and had a final goodbye, where we were honest and said we missed eachother.
A couple of days later, I had the urge of reaching out to her and see how she was doing. I thought a lot about this, knowing it was a bad idea, but still, I did. Jessica let me know that the day after we spoke, she broke up with the guy she was seeing, and decided to put some distance between her and Tony, as her friendship with him had caused her multiple issues with her relationships. I told her again that if Tony had been a good support for her, that she should keep speaking with him. We kept speaking and decided to see each other that day. Since we had told each other that we still had feelings for each other, we agreed that if we kept talking and decided to date again, that I should be as open with the insecurities and anxiety that troubles me, and that at some point, it would be good if I consider going therapy.
Now we have continued dating to this day, I have tried to be as open as I can. We are both more in love with each other than last time, and are spending more time together. Initially wen we dated, I felt a little bit anxiety, then it got away. As my feelings have deepened, so has my anxiety. I told myself that it wasnt as bad as before, that now it was just something small I could handle.
That anxiety I've been feeling revolves around the fact that she kissed the other guy when we first started dating, and that she suggested I could kiss other people. I know she is not gonna kiss someone now, but the idea that she is ok with this somehow troubles me, and I should respect her stsncez but still, it somehow troubles me.The other day, I also saw that she was talking with Tony which I thought I was ok with, but deep down I suppose Im not, and I feel sort of like a hypocrite as she is fine with me speaking with Mary. Due to this, I decided to go to therapy a couple of weeks ago. This therapist I've know from some years ago when I had issues adapting to my new work, so I trust her in helping me.
Now Im having a bad time with the anxiety, and even though is not as bad as before, Im afraid of being as miserable as I was during 2022, and at the same time, hurting her, as know she was really depressed after our break up. Jessica has always told me that I am everything she ever wished for, and shes happier than ever with us currently. I have a wonderful time with her, shes affectionate, the sex is good, she always makes me laugh. Again, even with its ups and downs, its the best relationship Ive had.
Yesterday I came up clean with her, in that I had decided to go to therapy, and we had a looong talk about the things that bothered me, which is the longest chat we've had about it. She assured me that she could talk with me about it as long as I needed, and bring it up anytime. One of the things I told her, is that ever since we started dating, I only had eyes for her, so I was extremely hurt that she had kissed that other guy at the beginning. She let me know that this was because time over time she had started dating other guys who she thought she had a good connection with, and they just dissappeared. So, she thought there was the possibility of me dissappearing after the first dates. Additionally, I asked her if she would be ok with me having an open relationship with her, just for the sake of knowing, as again, I would never want one. She told me that she would be ok, but she doesnt want it. I feel this is gonna sound insecure or bad from me, but after she said that, I realized thst just knowing she is ok with open relationships causes me insecurities, even though I know she wont force me into one.
We both cried a bit, but then we cheered up and went to see a movie. However, when I had to go to bed, I started feeling sad again.
I'm just worried whether this is something I can ever overcome and seek a relationship with Jessica. Im already losing my appetite at some points, and Ive noticed Im gradually thinking more about this.

I've had an issue my whole life of bottling up things and not telling people in order to not bother them, and I know is not ok. Due to this, my anxiety over these 2 situations started to pile up little by little. There was only one time where I tried her to elaborate further on why she suggested that, we talked about it, but still, my anxiety persisted.
Sometime later, one day she told me that she went out to eat, and the crush which she had a thing with in the past had given her a ride to her home. This also deepened my anxiety as she mentioned it very casually. I didnt even had any idea that they continued speaking.
My gf doesnt have many friends, and the ones that she have, cant hang out much due to them having kids. Due to this, at some point she let me know that she was gonna install the online dating app again to make friends. This again, deepened my insecurities. I asked for the advice of some friends regarding the dating app thing, and one of my friends let me know that in the end, there was nothing much I could do about. It was her freedom of installing the app or not. I dwelled about it, and realized he was right regarding this. I was not trusting her at all.
In the end, my insecurities and anxiety got the best of me. I was crying while going to sleep, due to me missing sleep I would skip the gym, and that would also affect my focus at work. I endured this some months, and eventually starting 2023, I met with her in order to break up. I felt horrible, as I never really opened up about my anxiety or insecurities enough with her, so it came as a shock to her. Theres no person I have ever loved as much.
Mid 2023 I started dating again. I went out with a couple of girls and dated one for around 4 months. I'll name her Mary. Mary and I eventually stopped dating, but now we consider each other friends and eventually text each other. Neither has feelings for the other.
February 2024th, Jessica reaches out to me. She tells me that she was thinking of me and wanted to see if it would be possible for us to talk. I told her I wasnt sure, and she let me know that the reason was, that she was trying to start a new relationship, but the way that I broke up with her (being so sudden), was preventing her from going further with this person.
We saw each other, didnt know what to expect. Thankfully, the conversation went very smoothly. It was like a couple of old friends catching up. We eventually got to talk about why I decided to break up with her out of nowhere. Before responding, I let her know that none of it was her fault, as I thought she was blaming herself. I told her that I should have been more open and communicate better, and added that the past year I had some experiences that allowed me to better understand some of her thinking. For example, this other girl Mary, even though we dated, she had become a good friend of me, and I considered her a good support, thus thinking of her friendship with Tony and that it was a good support for Jess. I also let her know that I had a couple other dates the past year, and if the oppportunity had presented itself, I would have been ok with making out with them, BUT if I considered I had a connection with one of them since the first meeting, I would focus all my energy on that person and stop dating others altogether. During this, she also elaborated more on the nature of her relationship with Tony, and that it was part of the reason she seeked to talk with me.
Jessica had planned a double date a couple of weeks before reaching out to me, and there was trouble on the date. This double date was attended by Jessica, the guy she was dating, Tony, and Tony's gf. At some point during the date, it came to discussion the friend eith benefits dituation that Tony and Jessica had, and Tony's gf apparently made a scene in the restaurant due to this. Additionally, Jessicas guy was also a litte bit uncomfortable with their past history. This caused Jessica to have an anxiety attack, and thats when she decided to reach out to me.
Jessica and I eventually ended our chat, and parted ways. The next day I wrote to her and had a final goodbye, where we were honest and said we missed eachother.
A couple of days later, I had the urge of reaching out to her and see how she was doing. I thought a lot about this, knowing it was a bad idea, but still, I did. Jessica let me know that the day after we spoke, she broke up with the guy she was seeing, and decided to put some distance between her and Tony, as her friendship with him had caused her multiple issues with her relationships. I told her again that if Tony had been a good support for her, that she should keep speaking with him. We kept speaking and decided to see each other that day. Since we had told each other that we still had feelings for each other, we agreed that if we kept talking and decided to date again, that I should be as open with the insecurities and anxiety that troubles me, and that at some point, it would be good if I consider going therapy.
Now we have continued dating to this day, I have tried to be as open as I can. We are both more in love with each other than last time, and are spending more time together. Initially wen we dated, I felt a little bit anxiety, then it got away. As my feelings have deepened, so has my anxiety. I told myself that it wasnt as bad as before, that now it was just something small I could handle.
That anxiety I've been feeling revolves around the fact that she kissed the other guy when we first started dating, and that she suggested I could kiss other people. I know she is not gonna kiss someone now, but the idea that she is ok with this somehow troubles me, and I should respect her stsncez but still, it somehow troubles me.The other day, I also saw that she was talking with Tony which I thought I was ok with, but deep down I suppose Im not, and I feel sort of like a hypocrite as she is fine with me speaking with Mary. Due to this, I decided to go to therapy a couple of weeks ago. This therapist I've know from some years ago when I had issues adapting to my new work, so I trust her in helping me.
Now Im having a bad time with the anxiety, and even though is not as bad as before, Im afraid of being as miserable as I was during 2022, and at the same time, hurting her, as know she was really depressed after our break up. Jessica has always told me that I am everything she ever wished for, and shes happier than ever with us currently. I have a wonderful time with her, shes affectionate, the sex is good, she always makes me laugh. Again, even with its ups and downs, its the best relationship Ive had.
Yesterday I came up clean with her, in that I had decided to go to therapy, and we had a looong talk about the things that bothered me, which is the longest chat we've had about it. She assured me that she could talk with me about it as long as I needed, and bring it up anytime. One of the things I told her, is that ever since we started dating, I only had eyes for her, so I was extremely hurt that she had kissed that other guy at the beginning. She let me know that this was because time over time she had started dating other guys who she thought she had a good connection with, and they just dissappeared. So, she thought there was the possibility of me dissappearing after the first dates. Additionally, I asked her if she would be ok with me having an open relationship with her, just for the sake of knowing, as again, I would never want one. She told me that she would be ok, but she doesnt want it. I feel this is gonna sound insecure or bad from me, but after she said that, I realized thst just knowing she is ok with open relationships causes me insecurities, even though I know she wont force me into one.
We both cried a bit, but then we cheered up and went to see a movie. However, when I had to go to bed, I started feeling sad again.
I'm just worried whether this is something I can ever overcome and seek a relationship with Jessica. Im already losing my appetite at some points, and Ive noticed Im gradually thinking more about this.

Our tv died and we had to get a new one the other day. I had made the song bar respond to the tvs remote years and years ago, so I'm 100 percent sure it's possible but I have no memory of how to do it. Google searches and downloading the manual have yielded zero results. We've been using the dead tvs remote, which was not a Vizio, to control it and I just found the original remote in storage. I know it's some combination of button presses but the ones I've found online aren't putting it into learning mode.

I've recently started buying non sports cards. I'm buying complete sets off ebay and mercari. Yet I can't help but wonder. How do u go about buying packs? Like I would have in the 90s. I don't know of any stores that would sell these type of cards. All I've found are Pokémon, magic the gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh. Target had some blizzard cards but I'm looking for tv and movies. Does anyone know any website or online stores that sell unopened pack for a decent price?

2024.05.12 03:36 Zimslayer Lost spinoff of Forensic Files that nobody talks about. (Extreme Evidence)
This is something very interesting I discovered recently while doing research on some of Court TV's old programs. If you didn't know, Court TV bought the rights to Forensic Files after it was initially cancelled by it's original network TLC. When it was airing on Court TV, the network asked the production company of the show to make a spinoff of Forensic Files that focused on a specific aspect of Forensic science. You know how some episodes of Forensic Files didn't feature a crime story, but rather a story of forensics being used to solve a medical mystery or disaster? Like there are some episodes about diseases or a train or car crash. Well, the producers of Forensic Files were making a spinoff that could stand on it's own from the main show. This show was entitled 'Extreme Evidence' and instead of being a true crime show it focused on forensics being used to solve accidents and disasters such as a plane crashing or a fire breaking out. There was one episode about a crime, and it was about the Omega Computer hacking which was actually covered in the Forensic Files episode, Hack Attack. There were a total of 26 episodes that aired back in 2003. In 2015, the Justice Network aired reruns of it, but when the channel rebranded as the True Crime Network they stopped airing reruns of it. If anybody knows where the episodes can be found, let me know. They have yet to be found, but there is a bit of footage online.

It's meant as a summary so there are things in here that are overly broad but I mostly want to help artistic fans know what is going on in Rhythmic with Paris on the horizon.) submitted by freifraufischer to Gymnastics [link] [comments] So you only watch Rhythmic Gymnastics every 4 years and OMG Paris is in a few months and you have no idea what your watching except dropping things is bad and wasn't this sport like super corrupt? Let's start with the basics. In the ye olden times all female gymnasts used to do exercises with portable and non portable apparatus. So a balance beam would be non portable and things like clubs, or balls would be portable. What we know of as artistic gymnasts competed in team portable apparatus. This video is from the 1952 Olympics and at the .10 mark you can see the Hungarian team which includes the great Ágnes Keleti (HUN) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtZ9t_9O-b0 One of my favorite facts about Auntie Ágnes is that not only is she the oldest living Olympic champion at 103, a holocaust survivor and number 3 on the all time women's Olympic medal list... she's also a reigning Olympic champion as her team was the last to win gold on Team PA before the event was discontinued. A lot of things were changing in gymnastics in the 1950s, women stopped doing Rings, the uneven bars started evolving from just being a set of pbars set to different heights, and they stopped doing exercises with portable apparatus. It was in this period that the sport that we now know of as Rhythmic Gymnastics split off and embraced ways to make themselves different from Artistic Gymnastics. What I want to emphasize here is that Rhythmic is just as "old school" as Artistic. It might be useful to point out here that in a lot of languages call MAG/WAG "Sport Gymnastics" (Russian) or "Apparatus Gymnastics" (many other European languages). In these contexts RG is often called "Artistic Gymnastics" because the sport emphasizes artistry so much more. The idea here is that this is a discipline that emphasizes more musicality, dance, formal ballet, and as a consequence they ban things like saltos. I'm mostly talking to people who are familiar with artistic gymnastics so think of this as "dance elements taken to 11". Broadly a RG wants to keep the apparatus moving at all times as they perform elements, to avoid dropping it but also to avoid holding onto it with an obvious death grip. The ball should for instance sit in the hand, not be squeezed to keep hold. Here is a basic guide to ball handling by a British RGI (Individual Rhythmic Gymnast) and just understanding that basic foundation of handling really goes a long way to explain just how difficult the sport is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3MSLaVO-MM&t=246s They throw the apparatus but your eye should stay on the gymnast not the flying apparatus as they do dance between the throw and the catch. If they catch the apparatus when they can't see it that's extra difficulty. Sometimes really terrible television camera crews will follow the apparatus in the air instead of the gymnast and this is very much worse than when they do face close ups on beam. All of the elements are what is happening UNDER the apparatus during the throw. One of the things I find incredible about rhythmic gymnasts is just how smart they need to be in order to do their sport. We're talking a special and physical awareness that is second to none because they need that catch to appear natural and effortless. A hand should meet the apparatus you shouldn't stick your arm up and wait for it to arrive. You should be in the right place to catch it without having to move unnaturally out of your choreography or you will get a trajectory deduction. As a good casual rule of thumb, if you are seeing them trying hard to do something, something is wrong. In fact, the ability of the gymnast to precisely control those throws means that when they do ribbon at the elite level they turn the air handling off in the arena so as not to influence the 6 meters of flying silk (that's almost 20 feet in freedom units). This adds a new level of awe when you realize that during ribbon qualification at last year's world's in Valencia, Spain it was 35 C (or 95 F). Please think about that later when I show you ribbon routines. And how toasty it will certainly be for athletes in Paris. The apparatus are Hoop, Ball, Clubs, Ribbon, and Rope. Wait... what? Rope?! Yes. So they used to rotate between the 5 apparatus but Rope has fallen out of favor largely because it's difficult to read on TV, though many purists think it's the most difficult apparatus. It's still competed among juniors and here is 2019 Junior Rope Apparatus World Champion Anastasia Simakova (RUS) (now GER) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-G47KnUCZY Another useful thing to know about the apparatus is that the clubs can be connected together or disconnected and this will frequently happen during the course of routines. My favorite weird fact about rhythmic is that if the clubs go out of bounds while connected it counts as one apparatus, but if you yeet the clubs out of bounds while they are separated it's two for double the penalty. No really... RG scoring is fairly complicated but in brief: Difficulty, Execution, and Artistry scores which are combined together to create a total. Execution and Artistry are out of a 10.0. Think of Execution the same way you would in AG, somewhere in the 8s is good. You start to look for something fairly major wrong when you have an E in the low 7s, and anything below 7 for an Olympic contender was a car crash. If you want a better summary than I could ever give you (if a little outdated because of updates), here is the 2022-24 code in 15 minutes from Clematis on youtube. It was made for a RG point of view but I think if you are used to the WAG code you can probably follow along well enough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxIlbaiPJWY Some gymnasts (like Nikolova and Darja Varfolomeev (GER)) build their routines on extremely high difficulty while others like Ekaterina Vedeneeva (SLO) and Daria Atamanov (ISR) concentrate on lower difficulty more securely done. Rhythmic Group Gymnastics (RGG) is performed with 5 gymnasts together doing complex interacting choreography and exchanges. The apparatus for RGG changes every few years but always one routine is done with 5 of the same apparatus, and another with a mix of 2. The Paris quad RGG is 5 Hoops, and 3 Ribbons/2 Balls. People who want chaos wish for 10 Clubs but that's not in the cards for the next quad either. If you aren't used to watching Rhythmic I promise you are probably better at spotting when things go wrong than you think. You may not know what it is, but "wait that's not right" comes quickly. Because the IOC hates fun, there are only two medal events at the Olympics, the All Around in RGI and the All Around in RGG. At world championships there is the All Around for both individuals and groups, but there are also apparatus finals. Because there are no apparatus medals at the Olympics we sometimes wont get to see the real masters of a given apparatus. Imagine if you never got to see Sanne Wever's beam because to get to the Olympics she had to be one of the top 24 All Arounders in the world. Which is really an important thing to point out. There are only 24 individual rhythmic gymnasts at the Olympics. That is a TINY fraction of the competitive field. Relative to international competition there will be many highly competitive RGIs left home compared to WAGs. I want to dwell on that point for a moment so I'm going to apply the RGI Olympic qualifying procedure to the Artistic field. Rhythmic worlds Olympic QFers were all non-nominative, meaning the place is awarded to the country not the gymnast by name. If WAG Olympic QF looked like RGI:
Back to the real world there are some heart breakers. There are 4 Bulgarians in the top 12 All Arounders this year. They have 2 spots in Paris. Other countries like Germany, Italy, and Ukraine will be leaving at least one great gymnast at home. I'm going to go through the likely Olympic field, as well as some that will not make the Olympics because they deserve their flowers too. These routines are, for the most part, the their top scoring routines from 2024, or if I thought a 2023 Worlds routine is a better representative I've used that. She originally competed for Russia but switched to Slovenia in 2018, in contrast to someone I will mention later Irina Viner did not oppose her transfer. Kolosov is likely the one who will win out here (which some may feel is right as she earned the second German spot at worlds however the other athlete wasn't permitted to compete at 2023 Worlds....). I think of Kolosov for her incredibly aggressive towel throwing at the start of her walk out. Every time. 😑 Anastasia Simakova (GER) Ball - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OotziO4k34w Kolosov can't breath easy because running neck and neck with her is her club mate Anastasia Simakova but if inconsistency marks both of them it does Simakova more. She had been a Jr. World Champion for Russia and came to Germany (where her parents had immigrated) in 2022. Simakova's family are from the ethnic German minority in Russia and she told Irina Viner that she was going to Germany to get (a very real) back injury treated. And never came back. The Disney Villain of Gymnastics was displeased and held up her country transfer for a year. A stress point is that she didn't immigrate to a country where it would be easier to make the Olympics. She moved to the one her parents had already immigrated to. Viner has allowed Russian gymnasts to leave and compete for small unthreatening countries in the past, but generally those have been "B" team gymnasts. Simakova had far too much success and Germany (and her coach Yulia Raskina) were far to outside of Viner's control to allow it. 😊 Fanni Pigniczki (HUN) Hoop - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsKKiL3kA1Y The most successful Hungarian rhythmic gymnast ever, she won bronze with the hoop at 2023 Worlds. Karbanov doesn't quite have the difficulty to contend for medals but her artistry is lovely and enjoyable. 😊 Bárbara Domingos (BRA) Ball - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD_oAqQINLQ Domingos is pretty decisively the best RG in the Americas right now and I expect insanity when Rhythmic Worlds is held in Brazil next year. She will be the only American rhythmic representation in Paris as the US did not qualify a group. 😔 Alina Harnasko (AIN) Ribbon - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YWf8A6Xem0 Harnasko is the Tokyo bronze medalist and without question I think the best non Bulgarian FIG authorized RGI who wont be in Paris. She can not qualify as her only path to the Olympics would have been the European Championships and European Gymnastics has maintained their ban. That said, I don't think even if Harnasko had been in Paris she would have medaled. Having watched her over the course of the season (as well as other Belarussians), it's fairly clear to me that the Belarussians haven't maintained the difficulty curve to stay competitive. That covers the top individuals, there will be another European (not from a previously qualified country) and an Australian in the field. Group isn't my thing and I'm not keeping a running tally of the leading scores for groups so this will be a bit more vibes Israel (2023 World Champions) 3 Ribbons/2 Balls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hVWyjhZzzU I think at the moment Israel is the most likely to medal in group (if not gold). They're stunning. And aren't they the Olympic champions? Well yes, A Buglarian group were the Olympic Champions, but this is a different Bulgarian group. They are much younger and the pressure on them is tremendous and cracks show quite frequently. Most tragically at 2023 Worlds. Mexico - Pan American Games Quota 5 Hoops https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-K36uEWicn8 Egypt - African Championships Quota 3 Ribbons 2 Balls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGXCmYIpyAI Uzbekistan - Asian Championships Quota 5 Hoops https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGjMF3VIXjQ Germany - Either the European Quota OR the Reallocated Host Quota 5 Hoops https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py7M0QKBZ3g There will another European country which will either be whoever wins the European quota or if Germany wins it then AZE I have been salty about the fact that Australia gets a free pass to the Olympics despite finishing 23 of 24 Groups at 2023 Worlds but apparently they have a new group this year who I'm assured is not that bad. Anyway so that's the Olympic field, for the most part, because I'm a structural nerd I'm going to hit on a few other points. Corruption The sport has a terrible and long history of corruption, including judges cheating on FIG exams (you can thank rhythmic for why FIG doesn't like holding online exams), bribery, favoritism, and straight up writing the code of points to favor a particular athlete. I will be honest and tell you that the corruption kept me from giving the sport a chance for a long time and I don't blame you if you find it a non starter as well. It's still a problem but I have hope. There is no getting around that Rhythmic is essentially an Eastern European sport and Russia has dominated for many years in part because of the immense amount of money they spend not just at home but in other federations. One might say that Irina Viner bought herself a sport. Not that it wasn't for sale before Viner. To give a sense of the amount of money involved let's talk about palaces to Rhythmic Gymnastics. Literal Palaces. This is the Irina Viner-Usmanova Gymnastics Palace in Moscow. This is the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan, built in large part for the first lady/vice president of the country whose favorite sport is... you guest it. National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan Just the mention of Baku is enough to send some rhythmic fans into PTSD flashbacks for completely unjustifiable scoring (and terrible camera work and and and ...) . The fact that the arena was built for Rhythmic though, will explain to Artistic fans why the arena can't put both a beam and a set of parallel bars on it's floor space at the same time at the Baku World Cup. The sport also has a vicious history of coaching abuse and eating disorders that I wont defend and I don't think has really been addressed. But the elephant in the room of all of this corruption and abuse is Irina Viner, the president of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation. Irina Viner was married to Oligarch Alisher Usmanov, at one point Russia's richest man. He's currently the president of the European Fencing Federation which explains how they've massively botched handling Russian athletes. Her Wikipedia Article. They divorced for financial reasons after Usmanov was subject to many many many sanctions following the invasion of Ukraine. His mega yacht is stranded in Germany. Anyway, Irina Viner dresses like a Disney Villain and acts like one too. After she viciously attacked the judges at the Tokyo Olympics she was banned for 2 years starting from the day after Russia's international ban ends. https://preview.redd.it/0l3weeymcwzc1.jpg?width=866&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=960f12a402c0975dba57b994c64a50c826f91fe4 She has at different points told gymnasts that she'll kill them if they try to retire, and pulled Russian support from her own hand picked president of the Rhythmic Technical Committee because she didn't fall in line in Tokyo. The carrot to performing for Viner though is a promise of a marriage to an obscenely wealthy Russian man at the end of your career. Or you know... becoming the mother of Putin's children. Well... for values of amazing. Viner has decided to create her own personal code of points which the Russians are now competing to. It emphasizes elements that in previous FIG CoPs caused massive numbers of injuries. Massive scores despite obvious errors and their gymnasts are breaking down physically. They've also brought up a non-apparatus routine setting called Free Hands which is normally competed by juniors... but hey if Irina likes it she's playing in her own sandbox now. Would the Russians be competitive if they were in Paris? Sure. Probably. But maybe not? It's hard to tell when they're playing in lala land and have routines composed for an entirely different code of points. No Russians have applied for FIG AIN status. But here is the best part.... Rhythmic Gymnastics is taking the time they have without the Russians and without Viner and they're fixing as much as they can as fast as they can. The age for juniors was raised last year (something Irina very much did not want) and the 2025-28 Code of Points takes a hatchet to a lot of the difficulty stacking (very broad over simplification) that has been written into previous codes to favor particular Russian gymnasts. They're basically unwinding what she did to the CoP either directly or through her influence. And right now Rhythmic is more competitive than it's ever been. A wide variety of countries are winning medals, and the RGI All Around in Paris looks to be the most unpredictable that it has ever been and much more unpredictable than the artistic all arounds. The biggest looming issue for Rhythmic though is the IOC's clear dislike of single gendered sports. With the introduction of men to artistic swimming it's hard to think that Rhythmic will stay in the Olympics for very long if they don't find some way to include men. There are two competing styles of men's rhythmic but neither has a mass of athletes. The first is Japanese Men's Rhythmic which includes things you normally would see in Artistic. Some argue that it's basically a different sport. But the IOC is pretty much an unmovable object and they have been systematically forcing gendered integration on single gender sports. I don't care if there is a small delay or anything, but it needs to be at a good bitrate at 1080p or it isn't worth watch for me. Also preferably I would want a way to watch it on a smart TV in some way but im expecting to sacrifice that luxury honestly.
ESPN, ABC or Boxing Network. I'm sure you can stream as well as way to watch it but I want to see what you guys recommend.
