2024.05.18 02:52 BrotherofGenji Resources to Improve Pretty Well-Established Language Skills?

Hi. Russian-born (but raised in a predominantly English speaking country) here.
I want to improve my Russian. I feel ashamed I don't know it better. Some people might consider me fluent but I don't think I 'truly' am.
To put it concisely: I believe I speak at a between B2 and C1 level, to use CEFR levels as reference, but I feel like I should be at C2 and I'm ashamed I'm not.
My reading, on the other hand... let's see. Well-known poets, I read fine in Russian without fail, due to some Russian School education and knowledge. I could probably read Dr. Zhivago in Russian too, but I'm not ready for War and Peace or Crime and Punishment levels.
My writing suffers too. I know Russian Cursive, but I don't like using it. I prefer to write in the Cyrillic non-cursive script. The whole "D = g" and " T = m" thing was too much for me. And don't get me started on people memeing the hell out of Russian Cursive online. IDK if it's still the "proper" way for Russians to write, but I've barely used it at all and would like to know if more people are just using the regular Cyrillic script nowadays, or if cursive is still the norm and if I should just go ahead and use it despite not liking to.
Long story short, I want to strengthen my reading and writing skills and also not have to rely on translating in my head or secondguessing myself. I also want to strengthen my speaking skills because there's some vocab I don't use in every day life that I'd like to know without relying on a Russian-English dictionary.
What are some good resources for these things?

2024.05.17 11:00 CubeOfDestiny Question about hadwriting

Question about hadwriting
Over my years on the internet I've noticed some wierd stuff about hadwriting from americans, mostly i'm confused about cursive. Being from poland, noone cared about how you write as long as it's readable, and the very concept of cursive baffles me, like who cares whether you join up the letter you write or not, in my experience nobody gave a fuck about that. Literary i tried to find anything on polish speaking internet talking about what americans refer to as 'cursive' and only thing i found were ramblings about some anccient roman bullshit, copperplate script, italics and random articles probably just copying stuff from america. So what's up with all that? Also here is some of my hadwriting

2024.05.17 02:39 ItsTricky55 Slightly useful (not pointless) Magic Items?

Just started LMoP (1 session in) with some friends that are fairly new to DnD. We've been playing a 5e-esque homebrew Pokemon campaign before now though, so they're fairly well versed in basics. I want to give their characters each a fun useful, not powerful, magic item. More geared towards roleplay or out of combat type stuff. Most of the lists I've come across online are just joke Magic items that are completely useless but funny. Like the compass/ring of magic detection (always on cause it is itself magic).
I've a found/come up with few ideas already:
"Rock of Returning" - A small 2x2ish rock that when commanded (decided by player, can be something like a snap, word, motion etc..) returns to the owner. Can deal 1d4 bludgeoning damage.
"Tasha's Notecards of Sending" - A pair of magically linked notecards (one light blue and the other white) that can only fit 25 or less words. Any written message on the blue card immediately appears on the paired white card. Can be used to draw things as well. The cards are magically resistant to liquids and most forms of natural wear and tear. The magical sending effect can only be used in conjunction with the paired Quill (decorated with a large Raven feather and the script "Tasha" embossed in gold cursive along the shaft, does not need ink). However, can still be written on by normal means.
"Monocle of Appraisal" - A small gold framed eyepiece hanging by a silver chain. Looking through the eyepiece reveals the monetary value of nonmagical items such as gems and objects. And once per long rest can be activated to use the "Identify" spell.
"Wand of the Mysterious Lights" - Acts as a laser pointer with a range of 180 ft. and once per long rest you can cast the Color Spray spell.
"The Immovable Pick of Destiny": A 1x1.5 inch and 1mm thick bass guitar pick. Can use an action to cause the pick to magically become fixed in place. Until you or another creature uses an action to deactivate again, the pick doesn't move, even if it is defying gravity. The pick can hold up to 250 pounds of weight. More weight causes the pick to deactivate and fall. A creature can use an action to make a DC 20 Strength check, moving the fixed pick up to 10 feet on a success.
The party consists of: Dragonborn Paladin, Dragonborn Rogue, Half-Orc Ranger, Half-Orc Warlock, and Dwarven Wizard. I'm giving them each a choice between two items. And some will try to allude/work with the character's background. Specifically the Monocle would work with the Ranger's Noble background, and the Wand with the wizards background as part of a traveling band/circus.
Would love any ideas, suggestions, or critique on these items

Taught myself print from reading at a young age
I saw someone post their handwriting saying they haven't seen anyone with writing like there's and it reminded me of mine so, here it is. My elementary school (late 90s, early 2000s) was STRICTLY cursive/script, in pencil. But I always hated script and pencil. Nobody ever bothered to teach us how to print so I taught myself by copying words and letters from books I read.
Fast forward and I go to journalism school and created my own short hand to take better notes. Fast forward again, I'm not a reporter anymore and work as a broker where I need to share notes so I had to recreate actual legible letters and words. It's taken about 10 years but here's where I am.

Stuck in a New Realm? (POV and rules in body text!)
(Will change flair if it isn't correct‼️)
POV: You're a mortal. One day, you were doing... well, whatever it is you usually do, but walking through a door, something... happened. A glitch in the system, an error in the fabric of the universe – something! Whatever it was, it affected you, and only you. You were transported to a new realm, a new universe, one completely unrecognizable.
Wherever you were, you seemed to be in the middle of a city. A very... vast city, it seemed. Many odd people flooded the streets, ones who bared horns, others who flew, and people who looked impossibly fictional. The sky and surrounding city seemed to stretch on forever, roads and buildings covering everything. The sky was made of pure light, making everything have a new-looking sheen to it. Everything looked... oddly modern. But this place – it was not for you. It was far from home.
Scrambling the streets to find somewhere less crowded, with less weird-looking people, you stumble across a store. In a fancy cursive font, the sign above the doors read "Aderyn Sisters: Jewelry," and luckily for you, the store looked fairly vacant. Checking for an "open" sign (which you eventually found), you stepped into the store, even if just for a breather away from the things out in the city, and heard a bell above the door ring. From behind the counter, a woman speaks.
"Welcome to Aderyn Sisters: Jewelry. You're at D.R. Jewelry, the brightest gem of all stores among the immortal realm, and..." She paused in the middle of her (very obviously scripted) welcome and sighed tiredly, "...you get the jist, I'm sure."
She hadn't even glanced in your direction. She looked... fairly normal compared to some of the beings you saw in the streets, aside from thise wings on her head or her tails. Could she be of any help? Well, it couldn't hurt to talk, could it?
RULES:
No gods/immortals (just for the sense of the OC... the OC doesn't have to be human either, just as long as it has a given lifespan)
I would like an image and necessary info on the OC(s) used (like age, species, etc...)
No "idc" OCs
No romance... alas, she has her eyes set on someone else already
Extra:
Any questions will be answered about the POV/RP!

2024.05.14 12:03 Incognit0_Ergo_Sum Arabo-Aramaic and ʿArabiyya : From Ancient Arabic to Early Standard Arabic , 200 ce–600 ce , by Ernst Axel Knauf

Hi all. I would like to recommend the most interesting work by Ernst Axel Knauf. I will quote the most interesting quotes (from my point of view) here. But I still advise you to read the entire article, as it is written in a very accessible and understandable language.
author's profile at the academy: https://unibe-ch.academia.edu/ErnstAxelKnauf?swp=tc-au-28366493
read the article: https://archive.org/details/arabo-aramaic-and-arabiyya-from-ancient-arabic-to-early-standard-arabic-200-ce-600-ce
"Nabatean Arabic became some sort of standard Arabic as early as the second century bce, but it was a spoken, not a written language, and it was, in the beginning, of no interest to anyone outside the relatively small circle of Arabian international traders and shippers. It became a written language between the third and fourth century ce in post-Nabatean texts.96 500 years of Old Arabic–Ancient Arabic coexistence and/or diglossia can now be considered."
"The Nabatean script is a cursive script. It was developed for writing on “paper” or its ancient equivalents. It reflects the needs of a society of traders who had to keep accounts and set up contracts. Only secondarily, with the onset of conspicuous architectural consumption at the end of the first century bce, their utilitarian cursive script was put to lapidary, epigraphic use. Unfortunately for the perception of Nabatean society through modern eyes, it is their “luxury” (and basically non-essential) written record which dominates the data base, whereas the main output of Nabatean scribal activities, the papyri, have only survived in meager installations, like the Nabatean papyri from the Babatha archive.106"
"With the imperial crisis of the second half of the third century, Greek lost its splendor in the East: the Parthians' Sasanid successors wrote Middle Persian (and Aramaic, for that was the language of their economical powerhouse, the Iraq); Arabs ( if not Christianized) turned away from both Greek and Aramaic."
"Aramaic, no longer in use for written business transactions among the Arabs themselves, remained present in pre-Islamic Arabia from the fourth through the sixth/seventh centuries through the Jewish and Christian communities which felt no urge to translate their scriptures into Arabic; a fact which one day early in the seventh century ce would instigate a failed merchant from Mecca to give his fellow Arabs a “liturgy” or “recitation” (in Arabic: qurʾān) in plain Arabic, obviously being of the opinion that the other monotheistic religions had failed, or neglected, to do so."
"From time to time the assumption resurfaces that the Arabic script did not develop from Nabatean Aramaic but from Syriac. It can be traced back to early Muslim scholarship,128 but it has no other argument in its favor than the relationship of the written word to the line: while Nabatean is sublinear (the letters are hanging from the line), Syriac and Arabic are supralinear (the letters are standing on the line). This feature can be explained by the easier assumption that Nabatean writing (the origin of all individual letters) was influenced by a Syriac adstrate in Arabian scribal practice during the fourth and fifth centuries ce. (Hoyland, “Language and Identity,” 196, with n. 50.)"
"Cursive writing with diacritical points indicates that throughout the fourth through sixth centuries ce Arabian merchants continued to trade merchandise and to keep records of their business in the Early Standard Arabic which they had inherited from the Nabateans.144"
"The cultic origins of Poetic Old Arabic with its archaic and, in prose and everyday speech quite superfluous case-endings are, especially since the discovery of Avdat 1, no longer questionable. On the other hand, Luxenberg has reopened the question of how pagan (instead of non-standard Christian) pre-Islamic Arabic really was.151"...
I’ll stop at the most interesting point, the article is very informative, be sure to read the footnotes and bibliography. Good luck.

2024.05.13 04:42 Little-Bug-797 could someone please grade my synthesis essay? TIA

the prompt is 2021 Q1
https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/ap21-frq-english-language.pdf?course=ap-english-language-and-composition
For centuries handwriting has been our primary source of documenting data, but is it still currently? With digital technology reaching into everyones' back pockets the decline of handwriting is evident. Email's have replaced letters, Word has replaced note taking, powerpoint has replaced posters, and many more. Even though handwriting is a great skill to have, and can help you with other aspects in life, its pragmatic uses are continuously declining. Thus it should not be focused on in school as a mandated class but rather as an elective.
Undoubtably, handwriting has major benefits, more than just the physical writing it self. Cursive script is proven to develop fine motor skills and improve mental organization (SOURCE D). Even though cursive handwriting has such benefits, the uses it posses in the everyday world are exponentially declining. What would be the point of focusing valuable education time on forcing every student to learn cursive? It would be absurd, if they want to do it, they can choose to in the form of an elective. It would be deranged to force woodworking kids to join the band, same applies here. Or it would be the same thing as forcing every student to learn French, Japanese, Spanish, and Arabic, indisputably learning many languages has great benefits to one's mind, but it should be a choice especially since it is not used in everyday life. Or as SOURCE E states, Super Mario Bros can develop better motor skills. Another important factor to consider on WHY we should make it optional is its [handwriting and cursives] roots. The real reason we adopted such writing habits in the 19th century was to make our national identity and our sense of uniqueness. We differed from other scripts not limited too but including the Gothic script, or the Palmer method because they were connoted to different cultures (SOURCE C), we adopted this so we can show we are different, however in todays world that matters very little because everyone has the same Sans Serif font in their inboxes (font gmail uses). Vouching the fact that we should not make it a necessity at school for children to learn at school.
Even though mandating such a dying subject could potentially revive it, there is no practical need to do so. Doing so would most likely do more harm than good. SOURCE B portrays one of the thousands of worksheets teachers would have to print for every student to strenuously practice their cursive writing. We all know that deforestation is hurting our climate. Badly. So why waste even more paper, especially on children who have no interest in learning the skill as well. It is like buying a $100,000 racecar for a student who has no interest in racing. What will it lead to? Immense waste. To reiterate. The printing of worksheets should be encouraged for children who want to learn the skill of cursive handwriting, but shouldn't be forced upon everyone. There would be no point in encouraging penmanship in school since post-school the focus is towards technology, after all school is meant to prepare us for the future (SOURCE A). Schools that are focusing on it should reconsider and put more effort into preparing the children for the future. In 2013, writing on paper was on average 2x than writing with technology (SOURCE F), that is however 11 years ago and if numbers like that are still prominent, school administration should reconsider.
The point of school is to be prepared for the future. In today's world penmanship is almost extinct, and in tomorrow's world it will be extinct. Technology is more efficient to use, saves the environment, and is the standard for today. So why force children in learning something that will not have technical use to everyone. It [cursive handwriting] should be more of an optional elective, like woodworking or coding.

2024.05.09 02:31 VermicelliQueasy6148 Looking for advice for efficient vertical script

I started this journey when I encountered a minor problem — I didn’t have enough space to write down all my thoughts in the book margins. My solution? Create/find a vertical script.
I attempted to make my own from scratch but realized that it was far too time consuming, so I looked for references and ended taking a script someone else made. I decided to change it as (ironically) it was taking up more space than if I had just written English normally.
This then lead to me basically reworking the whole thing. I ended starting over...basically.
My current problem is that it simply isn't efficient with the little space that is given in the margins of books.
Does anyone have any pointers, advice, or anything that can help me out?
I should also note that the script was cursive, and I believe this limited me with what I could do. I'm considering making it partly cursive or not at all.

2024.05.07 03:55 MisterSnippy The Roman Theory Expanded

So I saw that a few years ago someone said they think the Romans were the first visitors to Innworld from Earth, specifically the 9th Roman Legion. I don't know about that specifically, but I think Drakes are Romans. I think Drakes are the descendants of Romans and Dragons, where Romans turned into Drakes by the dragons, had Drake children with them, or somehow influenced existing Drakes. This would explain alot about Drake culture in general, why they have plumbing but elsewhere doesn't, their walls and the verticality of their cities, how they form their armies and conduct combat, their bathhouses and communal baths, their clothing, their siege weaponry like Ballistae and Catapults. Why is this stuff so rare elsewhere? Well what if Drakes only have it because of past knowledge, because they were Roman or were influenced by the Romans.
Stretching it much further, Manus. Manus is a marriage, which could be the 'marriage' of Roman and Dragon, creating Drake. Manus (according to wikipedia lol, specifically Cum Manu) is where the wife is placed under control of the husband, like how Drakes were under control of the Dragons. Or how Manus 'controls' or leads the other cities in wartime. This also explains the use of Latin as an ancient language in the world, for whatever reason eventually Innworld moved to English, but we know Latin existed in their world at some point. Pallass is also a Roman (Well, Greek) last name. If you take a look at Drake script, shown in the Horns Bograms chapters, you can see that some of the letters actually bear resemblance to Roman cursive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_cursive especially the letter A, which seems to quite literally be the Old Roman Cursive A just flipped and the letter F which contains two similar parts, it appears to be a mix of the cursive 'warped' over time.
Drakes aren't the way they are because Dragons made them that way, they are that way because they always have been, as Romans. They were just doing what they knew. Their militaries are set up the way they are not because Drakes are inherently different, but because that's how they set up legions in Rome.

2024.05.04 17:44 Hebdomadaire The end of handwriting in anglo-saxon countries ?

Is it true that in anglo-saxon countries (and especially in the United States) children are no longer taught to write with real handwriting, but with computer characters, writing them one after the other without linking them, and that this form of writing is called "script"? Is it also true that they can no longer read real writing and sign? If so, why is this the case, when it has been proven by numerous studies that cursive writing improves retention (by improving the brain-hand connection) and is faster?

2024.04.29 12:22 Lamedviv Domming Former Alpha Slave Mary, Part 6, Dubious Consent, Slavery, Bondage, Humiliation. Mistress Daci and Girl Mary get better acquainted through some erotic breathplay. Master Dave Summons The Other Ladies Over A Potential Visit By Mistress Ari.

Mary's Perspective
I'm nude, with my arms tied in a binder behind my back. I'm strapped to the left roll bar of one of the Queen Of Mean's Dune Buggies, secured above and below my breasts, at the waist, above my knees, and at my ankles to the roll bar with the sturdy but supple leather bindings her crew uses.
I'm panel gagged and hooded with a bondage ski mask. To the credit of the Queen Of Mean's crew, in concession to the hot day, it's a light, black canvas. Still holds the heat in, I miserably try to blink the sweat running down my face out of my eyes.
That bitch Mistress Daci is enjoying every second of it, deliberately driving over the roughest terrain, laughing when I'm jolted and bumped on my bondage post; telling me to shut up harshly when I let out muffled squeals and groans. I guess it beats the bitch suit, though not by much.
What exactly are we doing out here? What information I could gather, one of the first new episodes of the new season of Perseverance is going to take place mostly on the ground. Supposedly, Stellar Compact forces are mopping up stubborn pockets of N'Docc" and Amazonian warriors on a recently retaken planet, the scenes will include devastated woods and fields with possible hulks of war machines destroyed in the fighting.
Queen of Means crew are looking for places to secure Constance, Myself, and other extras during scenes. All I got from Miss Connor, is there'll be scenes of dead and dying slaves, tied to trees, posts and war machines, made up with gore prosthetics. According to her some of them will be unhurt or only slightly wounded despite being bound, and triaged to safety. I'm sure that won't be Constance or I, we'll have to wear the gore makeup and stay staked out the longest as dead slaves. The Triage scenes will be the shortest and easiest, reserved for the porn starlets and wannabes who suddenly want to volunteer for the surprise fetish hit show, not the likes of Bottom Slaves Mary and Constance.
Of course, according to the release material, both of us decided we're super submissives, and like being the lowest slaves, and treated as such, on and off the set. Technically we are volunteers, and could quit at any time. Realistically, we'd be broke and ruined, at least for a time, if we did. The contract I have with Master Henson, and Constance has with the Queen Of Mean, binds us to that as firmly as we' re bound to various objects throughout the day.
Constance actually does have more star billing this year, as Mistress Daci gleefully confided as she strapped me to this stupid buggy. She'll be Compact ace fighter pilot Rachael Willis, captured during a skirmish before the Battle Of Botany Bay.
The Amazonians have developed an experimental neural interface program that can read the brain's engrams of people's skills, and gradually teach and transfer them to people with a propensity for similar skills. Rachael will be the slave of a young Amazonian fighter pilot, played by Daci, of course. Despite her youth, her potential as a fighter pilot makes her a prime choice to take advantage of the computer's potential, and the exploitation of poor Major Rachael Willis. Though Daci's character is generally too young to formally have the honor of a Whipping Girl, she'll generally be treated almost the same. Except, since she's just a slave, and not a Whipping Girl, her honor as a Warrior won't even be remembered in the temple. She'll simply die a nameless, dignity less slave when they're done with exploiting.
Which is why she's not here, but in the Ready Room, being "trained" on her new role by Mistress Nora, Mistress Vasquez and Miss Connor. Yeah, she's not having a good time. Surely getting plenty of nipple flicks and slapped across the face with rolled up scripts by Mistresses Nora and Vasquez. Plus my Domme and the Hispanic girl like to yell and bluster in my face when they're frustrated with me. Yeah, I was in the Navy. Doesn't mean I enjoy being treated like that. Miss Connor, while usually cool and professional to even Constance and I, can be a first rate bitch when our slave asses piss her off.
I'd still rather be there than here. Mistress Daci, despite being a month shy of twenty, has been designated Top Domme by QOM for this expedition. The rest are new young recruit dommes, late teens to early twenties, eager to prove themselves, by "teaching" the only sub in this expedition, Bottom Slave Mary Williamson, almost age 26.
The Buggy comes to a halt abruptly, jolting me, making me "hmmph!". At Mistress Stoica's command, a young buzz cut asian girl, and even younger blue haired black girl, untie me and help me down with shocking patience. That evaporates as they frog march me to a tree, turn me around and force my back to it, then roughly rebind me to the tree.
The two dommes are dressed identically, White T-Shirts with "The Queen Mean"in Black Cursive font printed on them, a coiled bullwhip underneath. They're also wearing cutoff jeans shorts and black hiking boots. The two young mean girls shove and yell at their voluptuous blond slave girl as they tie her to the tree.
I'm tied the same way as to the Dune Buggy, above and below my bare breasts, at the waist, above the knees, at the ankles. Then the black Mistress smilingly straps my head to the tree, gleefully taking away even that small freedom from me.
The two of them get right up in my face on each side, berating me for fabricated infractions of QOM's strict rules for subs. Buzz Cut to my left, Blue Top to my right. They punctuate their tirades with nipple flicks and shin kicks, while I try to stay quiet and look attentive.
Then Daci says authoritatively, "Stop, Girls. You both have done very well. Mistress Daci want to talk to her thicc white baby girl, with big, juicy American ass." The two eager young apprentice dommes obediently back off to make way for their Top Domme.
I have to admit as she struts up to me she looks good, so sinuous, powerful, and authoritative. I'm bisexual and submissive, she's pushing all my buttons, despite myself, I'm sooo wet. She's wearing an old fashioned safari pith helmet, white button down shirt, white board shorts belted with a white web belt, and the same hiking boots as her two apprentice Dommes. It's all perfectly tailored to accentuate the slender blond girl's tomboyish yet alluring figure.
Her left hand fondles my right breast; her right hand reaches around to grab my waist, like she'd pull me to her. Aggressively, like a man. If I wasn't tied to a tree.
"My beautiful little blond Yankee sweetheart, I so happy your Mistress Nora let me spend time with you, PAWG. I like my ebony slave, fuck her with strap, and make her eat my pussy and ass real good. But you baby, you so hot, I love being little thicc American girl's domme? I have confession to make, you make me wet, little PAWG." She gives an exaggerated "Ohhhh."
My Domme For The Day's face is so close to mine I can smell the savory fruit flavored gum on her breath. Her left hand slides down from my breast to the cleft between my tied together legs. She manages to wedge her hand in enough to rub my clit, I shouldn't feel so hot well being so miserable and trussed up. But as much as I hate Mistress Daci, I have to admit she's a great lesbian domme. She knows just how to keep my subbie butt balanced between orgasmic joy and extreme suffering. Fucking bitch.
"Ooh, is my little PAWG wet for me, too? Don't lie, PAWG." Her sweet sensuous voice takes on a note of sterness. But it's no lie when I mmmph "Yes, Mistress Daci." through the panel gag.
Her hateful laugh "That good my little PAWG, because we going to play a little game, yes? We rub pussies and try to come together, sound fun, no? The trick is I have my belt around your neck, control your breathing. Just to make it extra fun for you. No?"
I'm horrified as she backs off from me, turns to Buzz Cut and Blue. "Janice, Anna, you scout around, take videos and pictures to show Miss Connor, later. You can find a place for a little fun together, but don't forget job! I entertain our little Sweetheart. Run along, ladies, now."
The two apprentice Dommes say "Yes, Mistress!" in chorus. They leer at me as they move off together, though seem disappointed they won't get to watch any of the fun. I, on the other hand, get ringside seats. I'd trade in a second.
My eyes lock on Daci as she pulls down her shorts, over her boots, carefully folds them, then lays them to the side. She pulls the belt out of it's loops and coils it in her hand smiling at me. As she advances on me, my eyes lock on her golden haired pubic thatch, for a moment it stands out to me glaringly, due to the angle of the sun...I'm about to be erotic asphyxiated by a slimmer version of me...
Sheila's perspective
It's a rough week, I have a lot going on. Dad's Cancer, mom bugging me about finding Sandy, knowing there are things I've never told her about our "employment" with Mistress Ari. I never will, if I can help it. Then my new ally, Lara. The glaring question, can I trust her? I'd say no.
I'd say no, except....her eyes when she asked me for some inside sister phrase to verify she was on the level, to both Sandy and I. I didn't see the ditzy porn starlet I and the girls "calibrated" a year or so back. The sad eyes of some wise and compassionate soul stared back at me, not the Lara Gupta I knew. Not even close.
When did that Ditzy bitch become a Mahatma, "Great Soul"? Did I even want to know? The world just spirals into greater weirdness.
But, speaking for the present, I have a show to run, the surprise Sci-Fi fetish hit, The Perseverance. When I started this project, I expected it to last, half a season, maybe. I signed on to hone my writing, and the hefty paychecks my man Davey was offering. Instead we're starting work on Season Three already.
I look at the four women sharing the ready room with me, from left to right.
Layla Vazquez, the beautiful Hispanic former Marine, who plays a similar character on the Perseverance, Sergeant Gabriella "Gabby" Perez, Acting Platoon Sergeant of the Marine Detachment on the Perseverance.
Tied naked to a chair, arms bindered behind her back, was the beautiful ebony former Domme Constance Anderson, now the lowest slave in QOM's crew. She was also wearing a black hood and panel gag, she wasn't expected to speak, just follow the direction of Mistress Nora and Mistress Vazquez. As I established clearly in our first meeting, my direction as well, as her overriding imperative.
To Constance's left, our brightly shining star Nora Jameson, aka Commander (Temporary) Dora Gail, Stellar Compact. The mousy, shy sub of a much older man had really blossomed on this project. Her Master essentially forced her into this project to boost her self esteem. It was hard to remember the poised, confident young girl in front of me was the same person. Watching her grow has been the best part of this project, for me at least.
Finally, sitting quietly to her Mistress's left, Sarah Ok Kim, aka Lieutenant ASSHO 304, Stellar Compact Navy. Like Layla, she'd been a real life Navy Officer, before being dismissed from service for a poor decision. She was now Nora's submissive, one of them anyway (Poor Mary), and the second most popular character after Nora.
Nora and Layla had been going over the script with Constance, Sarah quietly fetching coffee, water and snacks for the two dommes when they commanded her, otherwise sitting quietly to her beloved Mistress Nora's left. Nora usually had a hand on one of Sarah's thighs when she wasn't discipling Constance.
Constance wasn't happy about her starring role in this coming season. Can't say I blamed her. Daci had already gave her a tour of the cramped cockpit set she'd be sharing with her Romanian Domme during the Space Battle scenes. Cramped for Constance that is.
Daci's cockpit was spacious, comfortable and packed with sophisticated displays and controls. Her slave would be strapped behind her in a cramped, miserable space behind her Mistress. The only space allowed would be for clear shots of her ebony breasts and dark pussy. I knew Daci would maximize her misery and suffering with true wicked genius. So did Constance, she knew her Mistress's bully routine by now. If she wanted the payout QOM put in her contract, she had to endure it.
Yeah, she wasn't focused or teachable when Layla and Nora first dragged the poor arm bindered, hooded woman into the ready room. They'd strapped her to Mary's usual chair and bullied and badgered her for half an hour. Nora screamed in her face and slapped her with a rolled up script, while Layla flicked her big dark nipples and berated her as a failed domme. Sarah and I exchanged concerned looks at our friends' cruelty. But I decided to give them a half hour to make their point to her. At the end of it I held up my hand, Layla and Nora recognized that non verbal signal and immediately stopped.
"Constance" I addressed the hapless Ebony sub. I had her full attention as well as my two girls. "Are you ready to obey Mistress Nora and Mistress Vasquez and follow their directions and instruction for you?"
She nodded and mmmphed "Yes, Miss Connor." I addressed Nora and Layla. "Girls, as long as she's compliant and obedient, reign it in, I need you to prep her for her role, not ruthlessly terrorize her. You have leave to discipline her if needed, but remember I'm watching." I felt pride as both my girls met my steely gaze cooly and said "Yes, Miss Connor."
Since then all three girls were role models of Domme/Sub comportment. Constance obeyed and acknowledged her younger dommes instruction, acknowledging questions respectfully, and quietly listening to their direction as they went over her parts with her. My dommes were more gentle, touching her shoulder or breasts lightly to get her attention. They kept their voices cool and professional as they briefed her role to her. They even asked her if she needed water, and ungagged her so Sarah could hydrate her if needed with bottled water.
I run a tight ship, but a fair one. I demand obedience from subbies, Mary, Nora and Sarah can all testify to that. But I don't tolerate gratuitous cruelty, especially when it hurts our bottom line.
My pride in my girls was interuppted by a text from Master Dave. "Sheila, sorry to interrupt you lovely ladies, but I have some news that affects you, and possibly all of us. Arianna Cromwell wants to tour the set, apparently she's quite the fan. She also wants to check in on her "protege", you obviously Sheila, and meet our stable, presumably the main cast of the Perseverance."
"I'd like to talk to my three Alpha ladies first, then we can bring in Alpha Slave Sarah and Beta Slave Constance. My Secretary Miri can watch both of them until we decide to summon them."
I turned to my girls and cleared my throat. "Ladies." Four sets of beautiful eyes locked on me. "Master Dave has summoned all five of us. He wants to talk to me, Nora and Layla first. Slaves Sarah and Constance will wait in the reception room, Miri will watch them until their summoned. Mistress Nora, how do you want your subs to wait?"
Without hesitation, Nora says "Sarah can relax on the couch until summoned. Girl Constance will stand with her nose in a corner until she's summoned." I nodded my acquiescence to Mistress Nora's direction for her little subbies.
Layla and Nora untie Constance's bonds to her chair and helps her carefully to her feet. Nora collars her and attaches a leash, handing the end to Sarah.
We trudge solemnly to Davey's office, me in the lead, my two Alpha ladies behind me; Slave Sarah leading Slave Constance bringing up the rear.
Only then does my mind really start to process. I haven't talked to Mistress Ari face to face, since we shook hands on our deal and I turned my back on Sandy in that long ago room. Surely it can't be coincidence she wants to see me now, with the drama around freeing my little sis? The plot thickens.
