2024.05.19 20:39 mysticmemphis suggested resources for honors chemistry and AP chemistry?

greetings. i'm a freshman in highschool who's planning on taking AP chemistry next year as a sophmore. most highschools don't offer sophmores the chance to take AP chem, especially since freshman year we take physics and have no experience with chemistry beforehand. my school is kind of funky though, and lets you take AP chem as a sophmore IF you can learn the entire honors chemistry curriculum on your own over the summer.
to anyone who's either taken honors chemistry before or someone who's followed the same path as me and self-studied honors chem, what are some resources you found useful? i will be using a chemistry tutor over the summer, but i don't see the harm in trying to teach myself a little chemistry on my own.

2024.05.19 20:38 ThrowRA_pi44 I (23M) absolutely despise my relationship with my GF(23F) and it feels like there is no escape, how should I end it?

In 4 days it will be 2 years since we have been together, and I could not hate it more. She has changed, I know people change but fuck, she’s changed for so much worse it’s surreal at times.
I just wanted to point out a couple of things:
I know how this all sounds, it sounds like I am a terrible person for saying all these things, and I feel bad for that.
She also had some good qualities, such as being kind to people, having a ton of charisma ( at least in the beginning ), being empathetic, and overall being a good person, who would not wish harm on others.
We have been living together almost from the beginning of our relationship, she stayed at my place from the start.
Ever since she moved in I felt somewhat trapped, the most magical thing in a relationship is it being gradual:
We did not have this, I feel like we skipped all these steps and delved right into more serious shit.
The biggest problem for me is that I want one of two things to happen:
I thought I preferred the latter before, I have tried so many ways to fix our relationship such as:
Now, I just want to end it, however here is where it gets complex.
We live together and share rent, I bought her 6 months ago (when I still had faith in the relationship) a dog which we both deeply love and I cannot imagine my life without ever seeing the dog.
Whenever I say that we should talk to improve our relationship she explains that she doesn’t feel the need to do that. Please tell me how to be happy again, how do I escape this nightmare I am in right now?
I am working so hard to have a good life, and I have everything I have always wanted, she is making me hate my life so much.
tl:dr – I find myself in a relationship that I don't want anymore but it feels like I cannot escape from it.

2024.05.19 20:38 mycupofearlgreytea Why does my long distance girlfriend not want to see me when I come home? (23M/25F)

TL;DR: My girlfriend shows little enthusiasm in seeing me when I come home, even though I haven't seen her in 9 weeks. Why does she act like this?
I have been dating my girlfriend for 1.5 years. Our relationship has been healthy with no major issues or fights. Last fall, I started medical school 4 hours away. I am only home once every 8-10 weeks. Last weekend, I went home and my girlfriend had known I was coming home 2-3 weeks in advance.
I had called to see if she wanted to grab dinner on Friday night. She said she was having dinner with her grandma and couldn't. I asked her about Saturday. She said we could grab coffee but that she is spending the day with her family. Sunday, we will sit together in church, but she said she is going to breakfast and shopping with her sister afterwards.
My girlfriend is a school teacher. Her weeks are busy and she likes to relax on the weekends, which I completely understand. I don't want to take her entire weekend from her. However, I don't feel like I am being unreasonable here - especially since I haven't seen her in 9 weeks and won't be home again until July. And it's not that family time isn't valuable, but she lives 5 minutes from her family and can see them most any time she wants.
I'm starting to wonder if there's not another guy involved.

Shadows is the next step forward for Assassin's Creed

Mr. KARL ONNÉE, Producer
--First of all, let me say "Thank you" from us Japanese, as "Assassin's Creed" is finally coming out, which is set in Japan!
KARL: Thank you for coming here today. I have been wanting to do this work for years, so my dream has come true.
--Why did you choose the Azuchi-Momoyama period as the setting for this work?
KARL: I chose it because it is a very rich period in history. It was a time of war and political maneuvering, a time of change from rural to urban areas, and also the birth of art. I also chose it because it was the start of the unification of Japan. It was a pivotal moment for Japan. Together, these elements provided an excellent canvas on which to tell the story.
--What kind of image do you have of the Azuchi-Momoyama period?
KARL: This was a time when the feudal lords of the warring states were fighting for power in the name of unifying the country, but it was also a struggle for control of trade. Portuguese missionaries and merchants came to Japan together. The Portuguese missionaries and merchants came to Japan together, and people who wanted a beautiful country and peace. This is the kind of image we have, but I think there was a mixture of various cultures and people's thoughts. And of course, there were the warring feudal lords. These are great canvases for the story.
--What do you think should be inherited from "Assassin's Creed" and what are the unique aspects of this game?
KARL: When people think of "Assassin's Creed," they think of stealth, but shinobi fantasy is not only a perfect fit for an "Assassin's Creed" game, it also fits the DNA of the "Assassin" brand.
What we wanted to do with "Assassin's Creed Shadows" was to push stealth even further. We started this effort with the previous game, "Assassin's Creed Mirage," but we wanted to take it further with new features. Systems such as light and shadow, grappling ropes, belly crawling, and a variety of tools available in the game provide a new experience.
The gameplay is also enriched by two characters, Naoe, a shinobi, and Yasuke, a samurai. Players will explore and discover Japan through the eyes of Naoe, a local, and one non-Japanese outsider. The game is more dynamic than ever before, pushing the limits of technology and offering an experience exclusive to the first state-of-the-art consoles.

The game is more dynamic than ever before, pushing the limits of technology and offering an experience exclusive to the first state-of-the-art consoles.
--The "Assassin's Creed: Valhalla," released in 2020, is based on the theme of "Vikings" and has been a huge sales success. As a Japanese, I feel that from a global perspective, the Japanese "shinobi" theme is even more niche, but what is your current response?
KARL: I would like to talk about how it compares to "Viking" fantasy. Both shinobi and samurai are exciting and celebrated as fantasy with power, and are widely discussed in pop culture, and we are very much inspired by them.
Shinobi were on our radar from the beginning because we thought they fit well with the "Assassins" brand, but we felt that incorporating a powerful samurai would create two different gameplay experiences and give us the opportunity to tell the story from two different perspectives. We feel that this is a powerful motif that can compete with the "Viking" motif.
--How did you like the setting of Japan as a subject matter for the latest model?
KARL: I think it was perfect. For example, the "Global Illumination" technology allowed us to explore the response of light and shadow. Some consoles are still called "Baked GI", but by using dynamic lighting and the power of the new hardware, we were able to explore the creativity.
We are now able to express not only light and shadow, but also the dynamism of nature in greater detail. Naturally, since it is set in Japan, we have never dealt with so many trees, and thus so much data, in previous works in the series. We also needed more data to seamlessly move various things at the same time because of the seasonal changes. The latest models have allowed us to realize our vision, and our ambition for this film and for "Assassin's Creed" will continue.
--Assassin's Creed Mirage marks the 15th anniversary of the game. Can we consider this work as the next step forward for the next generation of "Assassin's Creed"?
KARL: You are absolutely right. Mirage" was a tribute to existing works, but this film is the first step into a new era. We are in the era of modern equipment. With the new generation of our engine "Anvil", plus the opportunity to create a new era by using the power of the latest consoles, we are able to do what we wanted to do with "Assassin's Creed Shadows".
With technologies such as global illumination and dynamism, we are now making the game we really wanted to make.
--What are the four pillars you are focusing on in the development of this game?
KARL: We are focusing on four pillars.
  • The first is to create an authentic and dynamic world.
  • Second is the story, introducing a new form of storytelling to "Assassin's Creed" by introducing two characters with different stories and perspectives.
  • Third, there are two different action sequences. Samurai and Shinobi each have their own training elements and unique weapons. For example, in castles, each has a different positioning that they excel at, which makes a big difference in how they play.
  • And finally, there is stealth. We are promoting the importance of stealth more than ever with new systems such as light and shadow, objects in the environment, depression, and grappling ropes.
-- The launch is scheduled for November 15, 2024. What is the current development status?
KARL: Development is going very well. We are proud to say that we have done a good job, but of course it is not finished and there are still glitches. This is the result of all the work we have done so far. We are very happy with how things are going right now, and we hope you will stay tuned for more news.
-- I understand that "Assassin's Creed Infinity" was announced at the previous Ubisoft Forward and that this title will be included in the game? Also, what is the development status of that game at ......?
KARL: "Assassin's Creed Infinity" is introduced as an Animus Hub (*a hub that will function in the future as an entry point for the series), which we will talk about at a later date.
--What is your message to your fans around the world and in Japan?
KARL: We are humbled that our dream of creating a game in this setting has come true. This is a setting that our fans have been anticipating for a long time, and for us it has been a wonderful experience to work on a game that we have always wanted to make.
This game is the result of our love. We hope you enjoy it. We look forward to talking more about it in the coming months.

(left) Mr. JONATHAN DUMONT (Creative Director), (right) Mr. CHARLES BENOIT (Game Director)
--When did you start the development of this work?
JONATHAN: Development began about four years ago, and research into the time period in which the film is set began immediately. There were a number of cool subjects that brought us great characters and story plots. I had a gut feeling that this was going to be a very good game.
--Was the Azuchi-Momoyama period chosen as the period setting from the pre-development stage? Did you have an idea for a major point in Japanese history, such as the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate?
JONATHAN: I started from the beginning of my study of Japanese history, but I began reading with the feeling of a student. Following the Socratic principle, you took the attitude of knowing nothing. As I read on, I found some very interesting settings.
I focused on the Azuchi-Momoyama period because I felt it was an extremely important period for Japan. It was a time of warring states, the need to unify the country, and the need to defend itself against the growing influence of other countries.
It was a grand and complex period, and there are many stories that can be told from different angles. Among the heroes of the unification of Japan, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Oda Nobunaga are best known among the outstanding characters in Japanese history.
Not only war, but also politics are involved, and they are moving toward the peace that will eventually come, with a good ending waiting somewhere in the middle. I strongly felt that this was a wonderful and interesting period that deserved to be featured.
It was also a time when the foundations of the arts were laid. Castle towns were built, the world changed, and people's relationships with each other and with art, as well as their inner lives, also changed. It was very interesting to explore this period, and I was strongly attracted to the characters who lived in this time.
-- Why did you choose the title "Shadows"?
CHARLES: From my point of view, there are two reasons. Shinobi hide in the shadows, so "Shadows" is of course inspired by that. In a way, this embraces the "Assassin" brand and shinobi.
There are other aspects to "Shadows" as well. There are "hidden things" in the game that must be discovered by the player, but they are hidden in the darkness in some way.
JONATHAN: Both characters are in a way connected to being shadowy heroes living in the underworld of this era. It's a cool title, if you can think of it this way.
--Why did you choose two main characters and two fighting styles? Also, what kind of combat action can the Shinobi and Samurai experience respectively?
JONATHAN: One of the reasons for the separation of the two styles is that from the beginning of development, we wanted to have two distinct and cool archetypes to play with: the samurai and the shinobi.
We also wanted to make sure that this fantasy was as close to reality and expectation as possible without being diluted. I also often felt the need to have two points of view in the development of the story, since history is rarely clearly black and white. The two protagonists provided interesting dynamics and perspectives on how to approach the game.
CHARLES: I think it is very interesting that in combat, both the samurai and the shinobi have special types of weapons. Therefore, the style of combat in this work is built on a more weapon-based approach.
There are weapons that only Samurai can use, and the same goes for Shinobi. The player can get a good feel for the two different fighting styles. And it is possible to switch between them.
--What weapons can Naoe and Yasuke use?
CHARLES: Both players have different types of weapons. For Naoe, we went for a more classic fantasy type shinobi. The chain scythe is a weapon that covers a wide area and can only be used by Naoe.
In addition, she also has a dagger used at close range, which can be combined with a hidden blade (Hidden Blade). Naoe can fight very quickly and efficiently with these.
On the other hand, Yasuke, who excels at overpowering with force, is given more types of weapons, some of which are firearms type weapons. They also have the typical samurai bow.
--Why did you choose to make the shinobi Naoe an original character and the samurai Yasuke a historical figure?
JONATHAN Even though they are well known in Japan, at least in North America, not much is known about farmers, what happened to them, and where the Shinobi came from.
So we decided to introduce a figure from Iga who is shrouded in mystery. We considered historical figures from the region, but we preferred a sense of mystery, so we came up with Naoe as someone who may or may not have actually existed.
As for Yasuke, from the beginning we thought that a story about the arrival of the Portuguese would be a very good way to tell the story of the crisis in Japan. The team liked the character Yasuke, and we thought we could use him to show the promise of discovering Japan.
We thought that if we started with a samurai already in Japanese society, he would be a very interesting and intriguing character, with concepts that we don't necessarily know. And it would also be interesting to see what happened to him. He starts out as a character who is already rooted in history, and we are curious to find out what happens to him.
I thought they would make a cool team, complementing each other in terms of storytelling, physique, and family background.
--What did you keep in mind when creating the scenario where the two main characters switch? What were some of the challenges?
JONATHAN: I wanted the audience to feel that "both are the main characters," but this was more complicated than it seems. Their stories overlap in places, but I wanted to make sure that as the game progresses, you gradually discover more and more about both characters. They have similar goals and motivations, but they are not 100% the same, which made it complicated and difficult to maintain their individual personalities.
Naturally, the quest can be played by either character. If a quest needs to be started by one character and completed by the other, the settings must accommodate both play styles. Thus, although it can be complicated, there are many opportunities to tell the story from one of the two perspectives.
Having two different points of view is a lot of fun, but there were some complications, such as having to use new technology in the conversation tools. There were some cool things, however. It is interesting that in the conversational scenes, the player decides which of the two protagonists speaks and they ask for different things. This is cool in a way.
CHARLES: Both characters are attacking the castle and at some point the player is asked if they want to continue with Yasuke or Naoe, both are interesting. At various points the player must make these choices.
The stories are independent, so if you want to know more about Naoe's or Yasuke's past, you can play as one character and delve into that character's story.
--Are there areas of action that differ, such as places that only Naoe, a shinobi, is allowed to enter?
JONATHAN: There are areas where both Naoe and Yasuke have different areas of activity. I can't go into details because there are a few surprises, but since Naoe can use a hooked rope, there are places that are almost exclusively accessible to her.
The world is designed to be enjoyed by both characters, and players can switch between the two at will.
Of course, if you want to reach the final point of the world or reach the summit through the ruins, then perhaps Naoe is the better choice. However, if you want to break through the fort head-on alone and open the way, Yasuke seems like a better choice. Of course, you can play with either character.
CHARLES: Each character also has specific actions. Naoe can hook the hooked rope to a specific spot and move like a pendulum, or hook the hook to a high spot and climb the rope to get to where she wants to go faster than Yasuke. However, Yasuke can use a shoulder bash to break down reinforced doors.
Yasuke can also perform parkour very efficiently in a more daring way. What can be felt when Yasuke performs parkour is how the crowd reacts. Because Yasuke is a samurai and exudes dignity as a superior class, the crowd reacts accordingly. Naoe, on the other hand, gives the impression of being more integrated into the world.
--Can you both use the Hidden Blade, Hawk's Eye, and other Assassin abilities?
CHARLES: Without spoiling anything, the traditional skills of the Assassins are mainly for Naoe. However, there is another mechanism called "Kantori" (tentative name) that can be used when you want to find an enemy or target person, and this can be used by both of them.
You can use free aim to look around, but you cannot see through walls. Yasuke can also be killed by stealth, but in a more direct and easier way. Even with stealth, there will be some sound, so it is a "stealth-like" approach.
JONATHAN: Kantori (tentative name) can be used to find many things in your current location. It is a very good guide for a certain area, but it does not take all the fun out of exploration. It is a good guide because you can learn a little more about where you want to go, but you are left with the surprise of discovering something.
-- Is there a skill tree that makes Naoe more combat-oriented or enhances Yasuke's stealth?
CHARLES: Both have skills that are more combat-oriented and stealth-oriented. Also, some equipment has effects such as increased resistance when attacked. We also offer perks that enhance your abilities in combat.
Naoe, enhanced to be more combat-oriented, has an advantage in melee combat compared to Naoe, enhanced to be more stealth-oriented. Both have a range, but cannot go in completely opposite directions. There is some overlap between the two, but we have made sure that the characteristics of each ability are properly felt.
--Please explain the skill system.
JONATHAN: Both characters share XP and level up together, but the rest of the system is a bit similar to that of "Assassin's Creed Odyssey".
XP and character abilities are available, weapons can be crafted to some degree, and various upgrades can be made as the game progresses. Weapons are not stand-alone, but for two, so each weapon has its own unique skill system. Players should not feel any discomfort, but this is a very different part of the game from the past.
CHARLES: There are two things that were very important to us in terms of skills.
First, we have to be very aware of archetypes. In Japan, there are distinct archetypes, such as the armor-clad samurai, the revolting monk, and the bandit, which are quite different. We try to make it clear to the player who is stronger, and we try to make that part of the leveling process as important as possible. Samurai are always stronger than bandits.
Secondly, player skill is added to the mix. The better you are at timing, reading attacks, understanding weapons, etc., the better you will be and the further ahead you will be.
--What is the volume of the map compared to past works? I would also like to know how you decided on the scale of this work.
JONATHAN: The biggest difference is the scale ratio. The mountains are not the actual size, but we wanted them to be true forests, consisting of trees of a certain size, so that you feel you are in a forest. To achieve this, we needed space.
We also decided to keep it close to a realistic scale, so we could feel the breath of many things. When we visited Japan and saw the castle, we were so glad we made this decision. Japanese castles are huge! Of course, we had seen pictures of castles before and thought they were big and magnificent, but when we saw them in person, they were astonishingly large.
And I wanted more space to explore the castle. Castles were built to be large battlegrounds, you know. You need space to build intricate walls for defense.
The overall scale of the map is similar to the size of the map in Origins. However, the scale ratio makes it feel more realistic. The open space leads to secluded areas throughout the game, which will be fun to explore. This sense of scale is a very interesting aspect of this film for us.
CHARLES: The story led us to choose which locations in Japan we would choose. The major events in Kyoto, around Osaka, and around Azuchi Castle took place in the same area, so we were able to focus on that.
JONATHAN: Of course, we had to choose a size that matched the game, but I think it was the perfect size for this story and type of game.
--Since the game is set in the Warring States period, is there a system that allows players to participate in battles?
JONATHAN: We see several battles in the story, and the battle at Iga is playable. There are other battles as well, but I can't talk about them right now. The game is set in the Warring States period, but it is not only about battles. It is a game that allows you to travel and discover that world.
--What challenges have you faced and what have you been able to achieve as a result?
JONATHAN: By making the big decision to go completely modern and demanding a very high level from the "Anvil" engine, we were able to increase the number of particles, create a more realistic atmosphere, and expand the graphical possibilities of the changing seasons.
This allowed us to work on a fresh new Assassin's Creed. This was a great opportunity for us to take a big leap forward in graphics.
CHARLES: Also, thanks to the new global illumination system, we were able to take advantage of light and shadow, which had a huge impact on the gameplay and stealth approach. For example, enemies became aware of our presence through our shadows, enemies gathered for warmth under a fire in the winter, or shadows through shoji screens depicted enemy presence, giving a new dimension to stealth.

By having two main characters, it is possible to show a wider range of angles and different perspectives.

(left) BROOKE DAVIES, Associate Narrative Director, (right) SACHI SCHMIDT-HORI, Narrative Consultant
--Did you choose the Azuchi-Momoyama period as the period setting from the pre-production stage?
BROOKE: I joined the project after the choice of period had been made, so the Azuchi-Momoyama period had already been chosen. This period offered so many wonderful opportunities from a narrative perspective. The complexity and duality of the period is well reflected in the characters of Naoe and Yasuke.
--What were you aware of and what were the challenges in creating a scenario where the two main characters switch?
BROOKE: From a storytelling perspective, I see it more as a wonderful opportunity than a challenge. When I write a story, I try to show rather than tell, and having two characters allows me to show what's going on from a wider range of angles and different perspectives. I hope this will encourage players to want to share their feelings with them.
--What do you think are the most important points in bringing original characters and historical figures into the game?
BROOKE: Both offer different and unique opportunities. With regard to Yasuke, I found him very interesting historically because we know some things about him, but there are many unknowns. So we needed to fill in the blanks in the story. It is important to note that Yasuke is a historical figure.
And in the case of Naoe, an original character, we were able to draw the story freely to some extent. The fact that she is a member of the Fujibayashi family and that her father is Masayasu Fujibayashi Nagato Mamoru allowed us to place her firmly within the setting. Because Yasuke is a real person but appears as a foreign-born samurai, the Japanese-born Naoe is on equal footing with Yasuke, although she has a different perspective.
--Will other historical figures appear besides Nobunaga Oda and Yasuke?
BROOKE: You will meet Luis Frois (a Jesuit missionary) at the meeting in Azuchi Castle. Also, Nene and Oichi will appear. The Japanese art renaissance that began in the Azuchi-Momoyama period blossomed in the Edo period, and you will also meet Sen no Rikyu, Kano Eitoku, and other important figures.
--Please tell us what year the story will be depicted.
BROOKE: I can't tell you what players will see, but I think it covers a part of the Azuchi-Momoyama period, from 1579 to 1584.
--I think the appeal of the series is to depict the struggle between the Assassin Order and the Templars while taking into account the history, but I would like to ask if there were any difficulties in putting the Azuchi-Momoyama period into it.
BROOKE: I don't want to mention the Knights Templar because I don't want to spoil anything, but the fascination and dynamics of this period are very interesting and provided wonderful opportunities for storytelling.
--How did you go about creating a world with a realistic feel of the Azuchi-Momoyama period?
BROOKE: We were very lucky to work with the Environment Team. The visuals they created for the game provided a great backdrop for the story.
The in-world experience added so much to the story. What we see from the stories and characters of this time period is complexity. I also believe that many of the people surrounding the World had their own struggles.
It was a very difficult time historically, and we see duality. Nothing is ever clear-cut and black and white. In warfare, two groups face each other and are confronted with different perspectives. But in the midst of it all, there are glimpses of hope for the future as we know it, which will later blossom.
--What advice did you actually give?
HORI: One scene that left a strong impression on me was the scene where Nobunaga's sister, Oichi, remarries Katsuie Shibata. In the original story we received, it was thought that the two families decided on their own without regard to Oichi's intentions, and Katsuie was portrayed negatively because he was more than 20 years older than Oichi.
So I spoke with BROOKE and the team and asked them to change it. Oichi had young children after the death of her husband Nagamasa Asai, so if her remarriage was to Katsuie, a trusted man who had served Nobunaga, she would have married him as a matter of course. When I explained that it was better to portray it in a positive light, it was a new discovery for the BROOKEs, and they were very moved by it. The rewritten version of the episode was very moving.
The other scene is the tea ceremony scene featuring Sen no Rikyu. Chanoyu is widely known to be translated as tea ceremony, but experts say it is a mistranslation. After researching the misunderstanding over here, I advised them, as far as I could understand, not to use a teapot or tea leaves, for example.
--Even we Japanese have a strong image of "ninja" as a fantasy. Did you encounter any difficulties with the theme of "ninja" in order to achieve a high level of fidelity to the historical reconstruction?
HORI: Ninja are certainly a fantasy, so I think it's a good thing that we can express ourselves creatively and without reservation. However, there are also dedicated ninja fans and communities around the world, and I am not sure to what extent they see the ninja as a real existence, or as an entity that existed in history.
Therefore, the extent to which ninja are represented in the game depends on the level of tolerance of the avid shinobi fans. I discussed this with the members of the development team. We did not have a specific policy on how much to express, but made decisions on a case-by-case basis. We decided on a case-by-case basis. We would say, "This is an acceptable creative expression," or "This is stereotypical", so let's not do that.
--I'm sure there are many references, but which one left a particularly strong impression on you?
BROOKE: The first book I looked through was "Nobunaga no Kouki" by Ota Ushiichi (Azuchi-Momoyama period, military commander and military history author). I was impressed by his personal observations as he recounts the details. We can learn a lot of historical facts from reading history books, but this author incorporated his own views so that I felt I could understand even his character and what it was like to live in that era, and I was completely drawn in. I was thrilled to be able to portray this time period and the people in this book.
--The drama "Shogun" which is set in a similar time period, has been a hit, and I hope that this work will attract the same kind of attention from game fans. I understand that you have prepared a "Discovery Tour" that allows visitors to freely walk around the game world with historical explanations.
BROOKE: I can't answer about the Discovery Tour today, but I am glad to see that interest in the setting and time period of the game is growing. I look forward to the day when we can bring this film to you.

Gathering a lot of information to recreate 16th century Japan and build a living world

(left) THIERRY DANSEREAU, Art Director, (right) STÉPHANIE-ANNE RUATTA, Historical Supervisor and World Director
--Please tell us what kind of materials you used as references to describe the field and the characters' costumes in the Azuchi-Momoyama period.
THIERRY: I have been working with experts and consultants for a long time, but for the characters, I referred to museum exhibits and books for their appearances and costumes. I visited several museums, did my research, and checked the materials with STÉPHANIE-ANNE.
Based on these, we created the characters. We also referred to descriptions in the books about the colors and the flags people carried. We used multiple sources, but we have checked them for historical accuracy.
STÉPHANIE-ANNE: For several years we had the help of experts, but we also did research with a Japanese studio and team. We used different kinds of sources to make sure the team got it right and had all the information they needed to reconstruct what Japan looked like in the 16th century.
We used museum databases, as THIERRY mentioned, but we also used inscriptions, scientific books, articles, and medieval depositions. For example, the Principles of Nobunaga has been translated into English, so we used that as a reference to describe 16th century Japan. I also referred to the documents of Luis Frois from the same period, which compare European and Japanese society.
--This period was also a time when there was a large influx of immigrants. Will you also depict the episodes, lifestyles, and culture of these people (missionaries, merchants, etc.) as well as Yasuke?
STÉPHANIE-ANNE: Yes, it is important to introduce the presence of Portuguese missionaries and merchants in the 16th century. They influenced the course of warfare during this period and the changing power of certain merchants in Japan.
--I am wondering what castles, shrines and temples that symbolize the Azuchi-Momoyama period will appear in the game. Although the game is set in the Kansai region, is the Osaka Castle built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi ......?
STÉPHANIE-ANNE: The era is represented by the construction of various castles and castle towns, so players will discover a wide variety of castle types and castles destroyed in battle. The Azuchi Castle, which is related to the name of the era, will also be featured.
THIERRY: Himeji Castle, Osaka Castle, and Takeda Castle are also available, and it is wonderful that players can visit and play in these castles. I think this is one of the strengths of the franchise, but all of the castles are based on actual historical blueprints, which I think is very unique, both as an experience and a learning opportunity.
The Koyasan Okunoin Cemetery is the oldest graveyard in Japan, which can also be seen in the game. There are too many to mention them all, but thanks to STÉPHANIE-ANNE and the experts, I think they are well described and it is wonderful that players will be able to travel to these places.
--The architectural style and decoration of the buildings is a different culture from the previous works in the series. What were you conscious of in recreating the culture and what were the challenges? I am also interested in the possibility of diving on the "Shachihoko".
STÉPHANIE-ANNE: The building team did a lot of research, and then we checked the results with experts and asked them to add the elements needed to build a great castle. We did research to recreate the decorations of not only the castle, but also the temples and shrines, and also to find out what materials were used to make them.
THIERRY: The colors also change over time, so we made adjustments to that as well. Of course, this is "Assassin's Creed," so you can climb anywhere and jump from almost anywhere. Exploring is fun.
--Japanese period games tend to be rather subdued, but were there any barriers to making it a worldwide production?
STÉPHANIE-ANNE: It's a game based on history, and we want players to have the opportunity to play with history. This period is so fascinating and celebrated, and has had such an impact on pop culture, that we were fortunate to have the help of renowned experts to make sure we had all the information we needed to faithfully recreate medieval Japan in the 16th century.
We maintained historical fidelity in this film because it was a rich period with so much to talk about and we didn't feel the need to change it. It is a rich setting, so there is an experience that goes into fantasy, but keeping it authentic was our primary goal.
--In the main storyline, can we experience famous episodes from the Azuchi-Momoyama period (such as the Battle of Nagashino, the Honnoji Incident, the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute, etc.)?
STÉPHANIE-ANNE: You will have to wait a little longer for that.
--In the recent series, "Origins," "Odyssey," and "Valhalla," you can enjoy the connection to mythology and fantasy elements based on mythological themes. Will this work also contain elements based on Japanese mythology, yokai, and other fictional creatures?
STÉPHANIE-ANNE: That is a very good question, but I will answer this one later.
--This work also reproduces the four seasons of Japan. Which season did you start first? And which seasons were particularly difficult to express?
THIERRY: I started with spring. We all know about cherry blossoms, and I think they are the most symbolic Japanese element for foreigners. And the big difference is winter. I wouldn't say that winter is more complicated because it has many different expressions, but it was very different from spring, summer, and fall, and the challenges were also different.
--What was particular about the representation of water, such as waterfalls, rivers, lakes, etc.?
THIERRY: All of the water topics were very important to us. We knew that there is a Shinto belief in waterfalls and rivers, and that they are important places in the Japanese eco-system. Even the blueprints of the suburbs are lined with irrigation canals, and they even go into the houses. Thus, we knew that water is a key component of Japanese culture, especially for agriculture.
This is why we installed drains everywhere in this work. The presence of water in the Japanese landscape was different, so we took it seriously and treated it as an inviolable part of the Japanese landscape and way of life.
--What are some of your favorite places, castles, or cultures that appear in your work?
STÉPHANIE-ANNE: That's difficult.
THIERRY: My favorite is Takeda Castle. It is on top of a high mountain and is called the castle in the sky, and I like this location. I can't say it's fair because we built it ourselves, but there are many other great places to visit.
It was a lot of work to create the forest, but I really enjoy looking at the landscape. I also like how all the ecosystems interact with each other, such as the clouds in the weather system. It's not a location, but I enjoy it because it encompasses the whole game.
STÉPHANIE-ANNE: I was impressed by the "Rakuchu Rakugaizu," Japanese folding screens from this period. I was fascinated by the fact that just by looking at them, one could come into contact with the vivid world of this period.
The artistic touch is something special. I have never seen anything so full of art. I truly admire the artists of this era.
THIERRY: I also think the most striking thing for me was the harmony of nature and architecture. I visited the site and found many places, and I could see how everything was deliberately composed.
I was told that trees were planted while the chedi was being built at the time, but everything looked perfect. Also, the culture loves the age and values it, so they cherish moss and things that have taken root there. Japan has maintained these places so they still exist and are still in use.
I realized that we are dealing with a subject that has a long history. It is also a culture that values space, living space. These were the most exciting discoveries during my travels in Japan.

2024.05.19 20:37 New_Forever8219 Question on (mean) toddler group dynamics

Our LO (3f) plays a lot with two other kids the same age. They are in the same preschool group, and we get along well with the parents, so they spend a lot of time together. When it's just two of them, everything is fine—they play, run around, and act like the toddlers they are. But when all three are together, the dynamics change a lot. They play for a bit but then start fighting quickly. Recently, it has seemed like the other two are ganging up on our LO and being actively mean to her, telling her things like "You're not my friend, you can't come to my house, et cetera.” Our LO took it pretty well, continuing to play by herself without reacting much. The other two stuck together and kept on playing just the two of them. I don't know what triggered this, but it felt really strange to me. I just don't want my daughter to feel left out or sad.
We told her how much we appreciate her, what a wonderful person she is, and when we left, she asked where the others were as if nothing had happened. It did not seem to bother her too much. Still, it left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.
Is there anything I can do to help? Should I talk to the other parents about this? How can I teach my LO to handle these situations? Has anyone else experienced this with their kids? Any advice on managing group dynamics with toddlers? Right now I’m thinking I don’t want to put my LO in this situation again, or am I wrong?

2024.05.19 20:37 catcatmewo 28F looking for role-playing partner

That's my age
My favorite type of role playes are one with a twist and fantasy role-playing. Something I don't see coming. I would love role-playing with someone who is super creative and into role-playing and does a serious effort to make the role-playing enjoyable for both of us. Like getting characters off the internet and doing research or whatever to show they are interested and want to have a fun and good time writing our role-playing stories. It doesn't have to be serious research just to make the story fun and enjoyable.
I would appreciate if we firstly talk on reddit before switching to discord. I want to see if we click and can make our role-playing a better experience for us both and see if we can have a good time or not before switching to discord and starting our role-playing.
If you are interested don't be shy and send me a DM and lets have a great time role-playing and enjoy our time together and our new adventures we can share on discord and our fun stories.

2024.05.19 20:37 ThrowRA1902345 I (30F) am tired of my (35M) bf bringing up his ex. Am I being crazy or is this actually a problem?

My (30F) boyfriend dated a girl for a year and some change before we got together. I’m not really the jealous type, like I think it’s ok to bring up an ex once in a while as we’re all human with some history.
But it got to be we couldn’t pass a single day without hearing a story about her, and it would even get to the point that if we were at a grocery store and we walked past a food item she liked, I had to hear a story about that food item. I told him, once, when this particular incident happened that it felt unnecessary and I was getting a bit tired of hearing about her every day. He said he was sorry.
We went for a trip together for my birthday. As soon as we started getting out of bed, he had to tell me a story of how she gave him a shitty gift for his birthday. Honestly soured my mood for a bit but since we were on vacation I decided to overlook it as I didn’t want to start an argument so far from home.
Then recently, I got him some new furnishings for his room. New bed frame as his was falling apart, new rug to replace the one he had (it was threadbare), new sheets, that kind of stuff. Then he told me every time his life improved he heard his ex’s nagging voice in his head saying “why weren’t things this nice when we were together?”
This one stung. It felt as if he was saying to me that he’s still thinking of his ex every time I do something nice for him. He says he doesn’t want to get back together with her but then why do I constantly have to hear about her? Why can’t he just enjoy when something improves in his life without hearing her complain in his head about it?
So internet strangers, am I being unreasonable about being upset here, or is there an actual problem?
TL;DR: my boyfriend keeps bringing up his ex all the time everyday and has even said every time something in his life improves he thinks of how pissed she’d be. Am I being crazy that this is feels upsetting?

2024.05.19 20:37 tr4gicdream my thoughts current state of this sub

ik this topic is getting annoying but it has to be said.
obviously it gets tiring when the only posts you see in this sub are questions about dead and euro that can easily be googled. but what i’m also tired of is people putting down dead and euro/their fans when talking about other members, and vice versa.
while i do wish post-euronymous mayhem would be talked about more, it’s also annoying to see people bashing on dead and euronymous and insisting that we just stop talking about them all together. and on the other hand, while the dead/euronymous era is my favorite era and undoubtedly the era that made mayhem what it is now, it’s also annoying to see people bashing on/ignoring modern mayhem. this is the mayhem sub, and that includes every era of mayhem.
what this sub probably needs is both more of the other mayhem eras, as well as more “interesting” posts about the old mayhem.
apologies for the awkward wording. i hope the point is still understandable.
TL;DR - yes the repetitive discussions are annoying and i wish the other eras of mayhem were discussed as well. no we shouldn’t just stop talking about the old mayhem.

2024.05.19 20:37 World-Explorer53 Seeking Advice on Securing Extra Legroom Seats for Medical Needs on Code-Shared Flight

Hey,
I have a code-shared flight scheduled for May 25th, with two connections managed by American Airlines and one by Qatar Airways. I purchased the tickets from Qatar Airways' website. I’m traveling with my 6-month-old infant (who will be on my lap) and my spouse, who recently had open tibia surgery and cannot bend his knee.
Usually, infant-on-lap travel is free, but Qatar Airways charged me a nominal fee and allowed me to choose seats at no extra cost. However, American Airlines is charging us for seat selection. They are asking for $45 for our local connection and around $400 for the longest connection (Philadelphia to Doha) for both seats.
As a student, I cannot afford these charges. I’m not usually concerned about seat selection, but my husband's leg situation requires extra space, and we need to sit together due to the baby. I have already requested wheelchair service for him. What else can be done to secure extra legroom seats free of cost? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

2024.05.19 20:37 Cosmic_Writer24 I’ve changed my mind about Colin entirely

This would be the third time rewatching season 3 part 1 and I can say being able to see Luke Newtons character change in analysis falls into perfect place.
I think it mostly threw people off including me for a minute was the 360 change. It was on purpose but the fact that Colin got an entirely new look: haircut, facial features and made him a little more on the ‘playing on the field’ Bridgerton seemed a little out of place, but it was well done. Very well even the pacing was done to a T the more I watch.
After everything with Marina Thompson (Lady Crane) Colin had even himself addressed he was ever so the gentleman and wanted an engagement to last months before the wedding. And then the sudden and jarring flip to ‘I like women. A LOT’ seems so out of the blue.
But it is to be expected he had gotten his heart broken by Marina and was confused, what happened; going through his first heartbreak, going back to his travels allowed him the freedom and peace to be able to do those things. It didn’t necessarily go to his head but he in a way liked the confidence that oozed out, he liked the attention and how good it made him feel.
Only through this first half of this new season Colin changed. He started to see Penelope in a different light and it may have been abrupt to some I think it fits well together. I felt bad for Lord Debling a little and feel as if Cressida and him might be a better fit, I still believe that they did this first half very well. They saved a lot of the explosive secrets for the second half but it was very well executed and played out.

2024.05.19 20:36 Shrub_Shrubbery [PC][2010-2015] Online Monster mishmash card game

I will try to provide as much detail as I can remember
This was an online monster card game I played back around 2010 ish which has definitely shut down by now. I would really like to find this out as Its one of the first video games I played and it was with my dad. I haven't seen any mention of this game ever since I last played it which would have been over a decade ago and my memory from then is very fuzzy
So this game was a monster card game, the cards had cartoon monsters such as zombies, slimes, mummies and skeletons for example. The monsters would be mishmashes of all kinds of monsters which made the cards look unique from eachother for example one would have a zombie head, skeleton arm and slime leg stuff like that. The background of the cards could also be different. The art style for the cards was a classic 2000s cartoon style with the sharp edges and boxy shapes. It is VERY reminssant of the MEOW animated music video by cyriak which is the closest thing I can compare it too. I would spend a lot of time simply looking through peoples cards because I loved the artsytle so much, there may have been a section on the website where you could look at newly made cards and such.
The point of the game from what I can remember was to battle with your cards. The battle system wasnt anything crazy and was simply a spinning wheel and if you landed on red your opponent would get to keep your card and vice versa if you won. There was definitely some sort of power system but I am unsure how it worked as I was too little to understand. Either way some cards where extremely powerful and usually where owned by those who had memberships. Me and my dad where not very good at this game and often had little to no cards :(
Another thing I remember is the way you would log into the website which is engraved in my mind, you didn't have a word password it was a symbol password. So for example the password could be a scorpion shape, skull, fire and brain. A rectangular board with all the symbols would display then you'd click on your symbol password.
There was a membership system which I never got but from what I remember it made cards more unique looking and gave them fancier boarders and more unique monsters parts. There was also a monster card making system for members which I unfortunately never got to try.
I really hope someone out there can find this as it would make me so incredibly happy to look back at this. It was one of the first games I ever played and I loved playing it with my dad together :) he'd love to rediscover it too

2024.05.19 20:36 No_Spare_nutz Testicular pain

I'm a fit and healthy male, 28 years old running weekly and only drink socially with friends now and then, no medications or previous medical history other than having my appendix removed 3 years ago.
For the past year or so, give or take, I have been getting very mild occasional testicular pain, and it's the pain that you get in your lower Abdomen rather than on my actual testie itself. it's a very mild disconfort often brought about when positioning my legs or moving and It self resolves after a few minutes, with this sometime I can feel as though my testie is retracted and shrunk up and sometimes I can gently ease it back out again and go on fine no problems.
More recently this pain has become more persistent and frequent and in particular for the past 4 days it's been relatively constant. Again it's still mild pain that I'm managing with paracetamol, I think it's Tylenol in the US, but now consistent. I can see that my testie is slightly retracted up about half way down in comparison with my other testie, and when I push on my Abdomen just below and to the right of my belly button, my testie falls back down into a more normal position.
It's alway the same testie on the right, I cant feel any lumps and there's no swelling or brusing. It seems the only symptoms is this pain that is now constant and not sure if its just bad luck or something that my GP might help with or should i be more concerned and go to A&E about this or might it just resolve on its own? Again the pain is only mild and distracable, so not sure if it's something to worry about or not
Any advice would be great!

2024.05.19 20:36 Rayof808 reply to a previous post -- BLSP status

Our weekly email updates have addressed all the issues regarding the Blue Sphere timeline, but for those who are not on our weekly email-update list, here is a rundown of the status of our Blue Sphere efforts and our overall mission...
It should also be noted that the "bears" on Stocktwits have made it their obsession to try to discredit our efforts, even though we have been successful thus far in placing BLSP into SEC-rule violation with our Transfer Project success and have been successful in our efforts to get BLSP trading in the U.S., something they constantly said could never be done.
One must truly wonder why they have had engaged in a non-stop battle to try to dissuade BLSPers from continuing their efforts.
The Blue Sphere case in Delaware concerns the Creditor's attempt to have the judgment for a previously-settled award enforced against a co-defendant, Leonite, who allegedly orchestrated the corporate fraud along with Blue Sphere management (specifically Shlomi Palas). The case is in its final stages, with the key deposition delayed until around August. Once this deposition is entered into court records, the case is likely to be decided within a couple of weeks thereafter.
The key to the Delaware case has been in the evidence uncovered during discovery, something that only happened because the Defendants refused to settle with the Plaintiff, which enabled the Plaintiff to pursue the case and eventually unearth damning evidence that corporate fraud had taken place. It is this newly-released email evidence that prompted the North Carolina case, which alleges all the Federal crimes that have taken place.
The Delaware case is the key to the North Carolina case. Everything that has been released in discovery has automatically been introduced into the North Carolina case. As a result of the mountain of already-submitted evidence, the North Carolina case will not have a lengthy discovery process, which often can take 1-2 years. This time-period has already been absorbed in the Delaware case, which began in 2022.
The Delaware case is a Creditor case, but the evidence in discovery opened up a new can of worms for Blue Sphere and Leonite, and the Plaintiff's charges have now risen to the point at which it has attracted the attention of the SEC and the DOJ.
Our Blue Sphere efforts have been broad and sweeping, but we have learned that the key to our primary objective requires the assistance of the SEC. As detailed in a recent email-update, the focus of our efforts is not to seek financial compensation but to have the courts appoint a receiver to manage the affairs of Sphere, claw back the embezzled funds, update the European revenues (over $10M in 2023) and consolidate them into their U.S. 10-K, and thereby regain compliance with the OTC Markets and SEC to return the stock to OTC for public trading. In addition, new management would allow the company to become the target or merge or takeover by another global IPP interested in acquiring these valuable European assets (valued at upwards of $100M according to court transcripts).
Once the North Carolina case begins (upon conclusion of the Delaware case), we expect the SEC to ramp up their investigation into the new charges alleged. As detailed in a previous email-update, the North Carolina Department of Justice filed a case on our behalf with the SEC, and the SEC acknowledged the receipt of the case in an email to a couple of BLSP investors. In addition, it was reported that the FBI has also been involved by contacting larger shareholders for more information regarding the allegations.
According to our court-reporter in North Carolina, the case is being handled by the same judge that ruled against Blue Sphere in an earlier related case, so the timeline for the North Carolina case will likely be streamlined. But of greater importance is the day the SEC publicly confirms their investigation, which they will only do when they are ready to employ their lawyers to take over on or behalf. Once this happens, then the future is a foregone conclusion.
So we are in a very good position as we watch the wheels of justice grind away. According to the reporter, the case will begin to generate possible media attention once the more serious allegations are entered into the North Carolina court case. This will be the first big step towards our long-term goal of exposing the fraud and taking our company back.
Were it not for the Delaware court case, BLSP shareholders would be in the same position as other small-cap companies that are getting away with investor fraud. The SEC simply does not have the resources to go after all these companies, so companies like ALYI, PLYZ, HMBL and hundreds of others will continue to succeed in stealing investor money with impunity. The level of their deceit does not rise to whatthe SEC requires for their efforts to be expended.
The evidence unveiled in the Delaware case, on the other hand, does place BLSP on the SEC radar screen, especially after the North Carolina Secretary of State (DOJ) filed the complaint on our behalf. The SEC now is aware of the embezzlement claim, which places our case far above any of the other small-cap stock claims.
So when people on Stocktwits try to demean the success we have made in the past 2 years by stating that "nothing will ever happen," they are simply denying where we stand at this time.
And those who say that the case "has not begun" and "will take years to resolve" do not understand that the Delaware case has placed the North Carolina case on a fast-track to resolution.
According to the reporter, the usual time-length of a court case is 2-5 years, but given the Delaware evidence that has already been entered into the North Carolina case, we have already passed 2 years and will likely see the trial case rapidly progress in 2024 and be resolved in 2025.
However, this is not our primary objective. The North Carolina court case seeks treble damages for the civil fraud, but this will activate the criminal case by the SEC, which then begins our mission for a court-appointed receiver to take over the company and restore the company's good name. This will mark the first step toward returning Blue Sphere to its rightful place as a publicly-traded and highly success waste-to-energy company.
Those who listen to the "bears" on Stocktwits are listening to ignorant comments by a few who begrudge our successful efforts and refuse to admit that we have made progress that no other small-cap shareholder bloc has ever accomplished.
To receive the weekly email-updates and stay abreast of the latest news developments, email me. Our email-group consists of 800 BLSP shareholders with a collective holding of over 2.1 Billion shares.

2024.05.19 20:36 willybtrash [FN] Fallen

“I want to be human. I want to be human.” I repeat to myself, as I stare into the dusty bathroom mirror.
Doesn’t look like anyone’s been in this bathroom since nineteen-o-dirt. I’m surprised I even found anything way out here. Ran into a couple people on the drive over, but none too friendly.
If I were a betting man, there’s gotta be some place nearby I can get some gas. Car ran out about a mile back, I’ve been hoofing it ever since. Now I’m exhausted, real glad I can’t overheat.
What the hell is with this place anyway? One mile is barren, the next is overgrown. Pockets of leafy green, stitched into this khaki pant leg of earth. It’s confusing to say the least.
“I want to be human.” One last time for good measure, then I throw my bag over my shoulder and step out of the bathroom. Peeking down both ways of the hall, to make sure no one heard me talking to myself.
“Who am I kidding, this place hasn’t seen a soul since my dad got here.” I mumble to the seemingly empty building.
“And it still ain’t seen one yet.” a voice calls from down the stretch of room doors.
I freeze in place, something about that voice seemed familiar. I can’t recall where I had heard it, but l definitely have.
“I’m not here to hurt anyone, just looking for some place safe to stay.” I call down to the disembodied voice.
“A refugee, huh?” A man dressed in a ranchers hat, and a poncho steps from around a door frame. it’s about twenty feet to my right.
“Aren’t we all.” his face is covered by the hats wide brim, but his voice is menacing. “You know, you’re one tough son of a bitch to track down.”
I knew it was stupid to stop in a motel, broad daylight and all. I just wanted to wash up a bit, then I’d be on my way.
“If you’re going to kill me, you better do it quick. Cause hell’s comin’ right behind me.“ I shout, seeing if he’ll call my bluff.
“Sly little devil, but no one is comin’ for ya. Not yet anyhow.” he kicks the base-board of the hall with his spurred boots. “Now, you can either come to me or…” he pauses, letting out a long sigh. “You’re gonna have to do your running on crutches.” He’s serious, hand already on his hip.
“Out of all the hunters, it had to be you.” I wasn’t going to run, there was no point. But how did he know? I stepped into the hall.
“My scouts watched you leave y’all’s little empire of bones. Gave me where you were headed.” He said smugly, I could hear the grin behind his words. He was swaying on his hips. (Could he read my mind?) “Never thought you’d fly the nest, but whaddya know? Looks like fallen angels, regrow wings.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Spare me the monologue, Jesus! Is this all the time with you?” I put both hands together, and slowly approach so he doesn’t get too antsy. The last thing I want is to catch a bullet from a professional cosplayer.
As I approach, I can see the long hair poking out from under his hat. It’s greasy, probably been on the road for awhile. I know I have. His beard is immaculate though, full, and medium length. I almost ask him where he finds a barber out here. My guessing is he cuts it himself, unless it just always looks that way. The thought annoys me.
Stripping me of my backpack, and searching for more goods, which he finds… (my knife, and a half eaten raw scrap of meat I’d been snacking on.) He wraps my hands in a rope binding. After he’s satisfied the knot is secured, he pats my head.
“There, there, kid. I ain’t gonna hurt ya, but your pa? Yeah, ole’ Baphy might. Once we tell him where you are that is.” That word, kid. It always stung, but this time was especially potent in its venom. His hand grips my shoulder, and pushes me toward the exit.
This place is in ruin, dust on the walls. The floors are starting to decay. Everything in here has either been broken, or scavenged. It’s picked clean. I can’t help but wonder what it was like before, what kind of people stayed here? As we enter the light outside, he steps in front of me. Strapping my pack onto his horse.
A beautiful creature, all white. Shiny, and well fed. No gas required. Dammit, why didn’t I think of that?
“You know he’ll kill us both. My dad doesn’t forgive, like you.” I call out, hoping he’ll show some semblance of mercy.
He finishes fixing my gear to his nag, and turns to me. “Oh, I don’t do the forgiving thing no more.” He steps to me, I can feel his breath on my face. “I fucking hate my neighbors.”
He points to the horse, and steps aside. I guess he wants me to climb on? I step forward and put one foot in a stirrup, while he helps me climb up and over. I laugh to myself. “Look ma, no hands.”
“If I find out who she is, she’ll be buried right beside you and pa.” The laughing stopped, he was serious.
“So, where are you taking me?” I managed to choke out.
“Don’t you worry about that kid, you just make sure you don’t fall off. Can’t make a deal with the devil, if all I have to offer is damaged goods.” He kicked the horse twice, clicked his tongue, and we were off

2024.05.19 20:35 DramaticCondition315 Why aren’t there only two bed rooms?

I don’t understand why 1 Bed rooms even exist. A 2 bed room can accommodate: - 1 single person - 2 friends (or couple who want their own bed) - 1 couple - 1 couple and 1 single - 2 couples
Whereas a one bed room can only accommodate: - 1 single person - 1 couple
It makes no sense that you are limiting the types of room available just so a couple can be in the same bed together - if they like each other so much then can cuddle up in a smaller bed in one of the two beds!!!

  1. Choose Sustainable Materials: Opt for home goods made from renewable or recycled materials like bamboo, organic cotton, wool, reclaimed wood, and recycled glass. Look for certifications like Fair Trade, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) to ensure responsible sourcing and production.
  2. Invest in Quality over Quantity: Choose well-made, durable products that will last longer and reduce the need for frequent replacements. This not only saves you money in the long run but also reduces waste and the demand for new resources.
  3. Support Sustainable Brands: Research companies that prioritize sustainability, fair trade, and ethical practices. By supporting these businesses, you're voting with your dollar and encouraging a more responsible industry.
  4. Reduce Energy Consumption: Switch to LED lights, unplug electronics when not in use, and use energy-efficient appliances. Consider investing in renewable energy sources like solar panels if possible.
  5. Conserve Water: Fix leaks, install water-saving appliances, and collect rainwater for your garden. Be mindful of your water usage in daily activities like showering and washing dishes.
  6. Choose Natural Cleaning Products: Ditch harsh chemicals and opt for natural cleaning solutions that are safer for your health and the environment. Many effective cleaning products can be made with simple ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils.
  7. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Minimize waste by buying in bulk, avoiding single-use plastics, and composting food scraps. Repurpose or donate items you no longer need instead of throwing them away.
The Role of Women in Sustainability

2024.05.19 20:34 RabbitZestyclose585 Cat keeps peeing/spraying

Hi all! I am at my wits end
So my orange boy is almost 10, and yes he's neutered. We've had him all his life, and he has occasionally sprayed before (maybe 1-2 in a year). But it's never been an issue.
We got another cat in November '23 (originally a foster, but we fell in love lol) and the first 2-3 months were fine. It was a rough start of course but they get alone great and cuddle/play together, occasionally they do tussle a bit. But anyways, he started spraying a LOT. On the couch, around our bed, our laundry, and he straight up peed on the cat bed. I carpet cleaned outer entire apartment, and the couch, and got a 'cat spray deterent' that I sprayed in all the areas that our cat sprayed. I got a calming pheromone plug-in, AND a pheromone spray that I occasionally use. We started keeping our bedroom closed during the day, as that was the room he did it the most.
And it helped. But not completely. We keep our bedroom open at night because they both cuddle with us (and we didn't think it fair to only let one cat in. Also he would CRY all night if we locked him out). And he never sprayed/peed while we were in there
Until now! I just got a new comforter and he straight up peed, full bladder, on the bed as we slept. I cleaned the blankets and the mattress, and used the spray-deterent on the spot too. And then two nights later.... he did again. SAME SPOT.
I am certain it's because of our new cat ( shes a lady btw), it must be a territorial thing. He is very healthy, and does still use the litter box. We use the same litter we have for years, and we have 2 litterboxes, but do not have room for a third.
I don't know what to do anymore! I feel like I tried everything and followed all the advice our vet gave. It sounds silly, but it stresses me out so terribly. The first thing I do when I get home is think "does it smell like cat pee?" I'm afraid to have people over. I feel like all I can do is just except the life of cat-piss

2024.05.19 20:33 AutisticStare Glowing Red Fist - Shock Release

Glowing Red Fist - Shock Release
Widely documented in history as Glowing Red Fist, this is a cursed technique that has been very often seen in members of the Tsuyoi Clan, one of the many sorcerer clans found in the past.
Currently known as Shock Release, this is an inherited technique passed down in the Tsuyoi family. This technique manifests the imaginary concept of kinetic energy as a measurable substance that can be interacted with through the manipulation of the user’s cursed energy.
While any member of the Tsuyoi Clan has an average chance of hereditarily gaining access to this technique, it is similar to limitless in that it can only be truly used to it's full extent if the user also has access to a special type of cursed energy, like how the Six Eyes are required for Limitless to be mastered, although not nearly as rare to occur.
Tsuyoi Clan
Although not nearly as ancient, powerful or famous as the three great sorcerer clans of the jujutsu world, this is still a very influential family that has raised exceptionally talented individuals, mostly known for their physical strength and enhancement techniques that have been passed down through generations.
While not equally as influential in the politics of the jujutsu world, the Tsuyoi Clan is still regarded as a very important organization within society due to their past as frontline soldiers in the war against cursed spirits, their powerful members have been of great importance in protection of humankind and that is what granted it's members certain authority within the association.
Special Cursed Energy
Almost half of the members of the Tsuyoi Clan are born with a distinct cursed energy, one that is hard and very dense, almost solid flame, this is what has always protected them from harm and assisted in fighting against cursed spirits while using only their bodies and martial arts, something that made them famous in the jujutsu world. The main properties of their special cursed energy are how it’s toughness can act as a shield that can stop an attack before it reaches them, which creates an absolute defense if enough energy is released while paired with powerful reinforcement, and how it can be used as a weapon, since even a small output of cursed energy can harm most enemies if what is being released is a heavy and hard blast of stone-like energy.
Although it is very commonly seen in members of the family, there is a very different degree of hardness that each member demonstrates, some of the members of the clan have a dense but just a little less softer energy than the average sorcerer, while others have what could be compared to a concrete wall surrounding them, this is usually not an issue as it doesn’t make that much a difference between most members, however, Shock Release is a cursed technique which’s efficiency is directly associated with the toughness of the cursed energy of it’s user.
Shock Release is, at it’s most basic form, a technique that releases accumulated kinetic energy, it doesn’t however accumulate it by itself, this can only be done mainly by cursed energy, but also by the body of it’s user, although at a much lesser degree. But cursed energy only accumulates excessive kinetic energy efficiently if it is a special type, one that is tough like found in members of the Tsuyoi clan, but for a user of this technique to use it to it’s full extent, having very dense energy is a minimum requirement as it tells not only how easily it takes in shock but also how much of it can be stored inside, therefore a certain degree of luck is involved when it comes to people born with the famous Glowing Red Fist.
The secondary property that occurs for users of Shock Release and allows them to use the technique efficiently is that this dense cursed energy has a function of acting like a sponge for kinetic energy, accumulating any excessive display of it and storing it within itself, this happens whenever it’s user performs any physical action such as moving, breathing, fighting, there is always a small percentage of the shock generated by these motions that leaks and gets caught in the user’s aura. Although higher reserves of cursed energy can lead to a higher storage capacity for shock, this is mostly influenced by the toughness of the energy, which also tells how high a percentage of what is leaked can be absorbed.
Description
Glowing Red Fist is a cursed technique that allows the user to bring the idea of kinetic energy into reality, as a bright red, flame-like substance, that can be interacted with if cursed energy or organic matter is used as a medium for it to flow through. It can be used for a great variety of situations and applied in many different ways, limited only by the user's imagination of what they can do.
Shock can be employed in many ways while utilizing this technique, enhancement to physical attacks by injecting kinetic energy into a target while hitting them with your fists is a very common application of the technique, although it can also be used for something such as movement bestowal, applying the force in a way that causes an object to move as intended without the need for direct interaction with it,
As with any cursed technique, Shock Release's efficiency and strength depend on the user, a low-grade sorcerer might require rituals to inject an object with enough kinetic energy for it's manipulation to be worth it while one of a higher grade, being able to freely use the technique during a fight, could be an unstoppable force, one that destroys anything in their path and fights in a manner completely unpredictable due to their unexpected movements, which are caused by the application of the technique on themselves for unnatural maneuvering that doesn't necessarily follow the laws of physics.
The user is also limited by the toughness of their cursed energy and it's reserves and output. Too soft an energy leads to almost no kinetic energy being taken in and not enough stored for large-scale applications and a low output might make it difficult to employ the shock that has been saved up.
Usage and Applications
The techniques is used, firstly, by saving kinetic energy that is usually absorbed by the user’s cursed energy, then, it is injected into a target that could be anything from an inorganic object such as a rock to the organic matter of the user’s body, doing so charges the target and allows the user to activate the shock that has been stored within it, an activation means the actual Lapse of the technique which involves causing the shock to interact with the target, resulting in any chosen result as long as it could be done through actual force, such as causing an object to be thrown upwards. As long as there is enough shock inside an object, it can move as far or as fast as the user wants depending on their cursed energy output.
Shock can only be manipulated through cursed energy or organic matter, injecting inorganic matter with it will only be temporary, as it will leak and return to being just an imaginary concept very fast, it only remains manifested if it remains within a solid enough aura or inside organic matter such as a person or the user himself. Therefore, injecting a target with shock requires the source to make contact with it, if stored within cursed energy, imbuing an object with it after releasing it is enough, but if stored within a person, physical touch is required.
Usually, whenever an object is injected with manifested kinetic energy, it glows red, this is the reason the technique was once called Glowing Red Fist as it’s users always had their fists glowing red due to how much force they applied to them before hitting an enemy, cursed energy also becomes red when carrying shock which causes all users of the technique to always have red cursed energy as their energy is always taking in the kinetic energy from the surrounding area. The more that is stored within a target, the brighter it glows.
The most common application of this cursed technique is to enhance physical attacks, the Tsuyoi Clan is known for enhancement-related cursed techniques and this is one of them, injecting the user’s body with shock and releasing it while attacking greatly increases the harm they can cause, with a lot of shock and powerful reinforcement, they can destroy any target with a single punch, once again reminding all why it once had “fist” in it’s name. This isn’t a rule, as any movement performed by the user can be enhanced, running, moving their arms to block an attack or their entire bodies to move away from one, an action can be improved by applying kinetic energy to it, it is even possible for capable users of the technique to apply shock to something that is about to hit them so that they can stop it in it’s tracks, such as pushing back on an enemy’s fist so that the punch isn’t as strong or can’t even make physical contact if there is enough force being used.
Another very common application of Shock Release is movement bestowal, which is the injection of force within an object and activating it to move it in any way deemed possible by how much force is injected, through swift manipulation of cursed energy, one could do this with such accuracy that it would be essentially the same as telekinesis, but it is usually used to maneuver mid-air by applying it on yourself or to control the trajectory and speed of projectiles. A high-grade sorcerer who uses Shock Release can even move other sorcerers either to cause them harm by throwing them somewhere or pulling them in for a punch or to assist allies in moving away from attacks or reaching an intended location faster than they could move themselves. With enough difference in power it is likely possible to completely control the movements of someone and bind them to the user’s will as long as the technique is active and there is enough force for such.
Cursed Technique Reversal
By activating the technique with positive energy, one can cause the opposite effect of the technique and drain kinetic energy instead of releasing it, this is a major improvement to the technique in general as it not only makes it a lot easier to fuel the user’s storage of shock but also because it makes one capable of completely negating the damage from most attacks and grants them a multitude of newer applications to use in a fight.
It is said that a user of Shock Manipulation, which is the name of the technique for someone who can use it’s reversed form, becomes so powerful after learning this that they are essentially more than twice as powerful as they were before, this can be considered an exaggeration as one would have to train in order to properly use this newly acquired application but it is true that one who has mastered both the use of positive and negative energy with this technique becomes a powerful individual who should not be underestimated.
Usage and Applications
Mastery over both positive and negative versions of Shock Manipulation grants the user complete control over kinetic energy, any application they were already capable of using is improved due to how fast the user can accumulate force to charge them and they can not only modify them for a different result but use new techniques altogether, such as not only changing the trajectory of a projectile but also stopping it mid-air as to confuse or avoid the defense of a target before allowing it to go forward again without having lost any of it’s speed, even the user’s ability to maneuver becomes even greater as they can deny the effects of gravity on themselves by absorbing the kinetic energy that is generated by it’s interaction with their mass and redirecting it towards movement bestowal, making it possible to fly.
Someone capable of draining the kinetic energy generated by the attacks of an enemy becomes a beast when it comes to physical combat, they are hardly harmed and become even stronger hitters after taking in the force they stole from their aggressors and using it against them.
Strengths and Weaknesses
The most famous advantage of this technique is how it’s user can freely maneuver during a fight in ways that are normally impossible and are therefore unpredictable, when combined with their enhanced attacks, this makes anyone who uses Glowing Red Fist a powerful closed-quarters fighter no matter how strong they are, but those of the Tsuyoi family usually have very strong bodies so it is only an improvement on an already great strength.
The biggest strength of the technique is it’s diversity, although lower grade users don’t have as much freedom as those of higher grade when it comes to using the technique, they still can inject and manipulate the shock imbued within an object to great heights, and there are thousands of ways of using the ability to move things however you want to your advantage. Higher-grade sorcerers are simply absurd because through subtraction, they become capable of using the technique with so much freedom that they simply control the battlefield without chants or hand signs, just the manipulation of their cursed energy as a medium for the accumulated force to flow through is enough to move, harm and confuse any enemy to great extents.
The most famous weakness of the technique is that it is an accumulative type, something that can also be a strength as it is a sorcerer can become a lot stronger than their peers if they are fully charged, but makes it so they pretty much don’t have a technique once they run out of kinetic energy, but this can be bypassed once the user learns cursed technique reversal. Another known weakness is how kinetic energy can easily be seen as not only it is carried by cursed energy but it also glows red. The red glow from force-filled cursed energy can’t be hidden, but a very precise manipulation of the force can hide it within objects by burying it deep, using organic matter as storage can also be used to bypass the weakness of glowing cursed energy.
TLDR: Negative energy releases kinetic energy and positive energy drains it, think about the first Noumu or Fat-Gun from My Hero Academia, kinetic energy can be used to move things.
I plan on posting an OC that uses this technique eventually and I will provide more information on how it can be used, I will also write about some of it's extension and maximum techniques, I also have a few ideas on a domain expansion that has this technique as it's guaranteed hit. This is actually something that I first thought about as a Hatsu for a HxH oc but I think it works better as a cursed technique due to how nen works.

2024.05.19 20:33 AutomaticPass6464 AITA for telling my girlfriend she completely broke our trust after finding out she was hiding something from me?

My girlfriend and I got together in 2022 of October and dated till July 2023. We broke up in July and we got back together in December. I broke up with her in July because she wasn’t telling me things that she was doing when she was out drunk with her friends, I would catch her in lying about what she did and who she was with so i broke up with her because I couldn’t trust her anymore. Right before we broke up, she told me she had sex with her friend, who I’ll call (Bob). This was the first time she had sex, for we didnt have sex together for own our reasons. The break up was a lot harder on me because I never trusted Bob, I always thought all he wanted to do was get in her pants, which he succeeded in doing. When we started talking again in December, we were both a total mess. Our lives for the past 5 months were terrible and we needed each other back. The first thing she told me when we got back together was how she didnt sleep with Bob and how she only said it so i would be mad and jealous. For some reason I did believe her because I trusted her and how genuine she was about it. She told me she couldn’t do anything with anyone because just the thought of doing anything with anyone made her sick to her stomach. I did not sleep or do with anything with anyone on our break either, for basically the same reason. I just found out that she basically lied to me. She told me she was super intoxicated on Halloween night, and she kissed Bob. She said thats all she can remember, but according to her best friend, they were making out. When I asked her why she didnt tell me this her answer was because she knew I didnt like Bob before, and I definitely wouldnt if she told me. I asked her why she lied to me in december when she told me she hadnt done anything with anyone except the things she did with me. I feel betrayed because she broke our trust before, and she told me shes do anything to build it up again and here she was, lying and breaking our trust. I cant believe her when she tells me nothing else happened and I feel like our trust is completely broken. I know we werent together when she made out with Bob; I care about the fact she lied to me and told me she didnt do anything physical with anyone. Am I the asshole because im overreacting and being too extreme about this whole situation?

2024.05.19 20:33 RobinKR7 Struggling to go through Season 7 on a rewatch...

Hey guys !
I am on my 3rd or 4th rewatch of the show (I first watched it about a year ago and kinda became obsessed with it...). Anyway, I got to the end of season 6 and, well, I think we can all pinpoint the exact instant everything started going to shit .... : the second the black SUV started to close in Castle's mirror while he was on the road to the Hamptons.
So, obviously now I know everything about the show and I know what to expect. Hence, I have been experiencing something new with this rewatch : I am struggling to move forward with the episodes ! It is like I know this is the end and I don't want it to end kind of thing, do you see what I mean ? (For obvious reasons I don't consider season 8 in my rewatches).
Thus, it first started when I got to episode 6x21, the last one before the infamous "Veritas". Although Veritas is a great episode and a very nice conclusion to the series long plot with Johanna Beckett's murder, it was like I knew I was on the verge of finishing the series (even though there is the whole season 7 left) and I was not ready for it. Same thing for the Season 6 finale, when I watched it this time, I stopped just after the phone call between Kate and Castle, I could not stomach the end of the episode with the cliffhanger.
Moving further with season 7, I have been having dealing with the same issues : it was though to watch the wedding because I feel betrayed in comparison to what we could have had at the end of season 6, it took me a while to watch 7x10, the Mafia - Christmas Ep because I knew it was the last ep before Castle became a PI. To be honest, I am quite found of this three episodes of Castle being a PI but it is just we are turning a page on everything we have seen so far because what made the series is their duo solving cases and building theory together. Furthermore, I know Castle is a PI only in the very last part of the series (and most notably season 8...) so to see him become one is like effectively acting the end of the series (or at least that it is near).
Now, I have just finished episode 7x13 and I have the same dilemma, the next couple of episodes deal with 3XK and I am not ready to end this you know ? The episodes are good (although not as good as the first few double episodes imo), it is just their broader meaning series-wide that scares me.
As a result, even though season 7 is not bad itself (still it is not nearly as good as the previous 6 in my honest opinion) I am really struggling to go through its episodes. Maybe you'll tell me just suck it up, watch the episodes and then start a rewatch all over again ?
Anyway I would really like to hear what are your experiences when you get to that point of the series through a rewatch !
[I do apologize in advance, English is not my first language so there might be a few mistakes, I hope it remains intelligible]

2024.05.19 20:33 Greenie1O2 Speculating .3 levels part 1: black ants

1.3 Flight plan
This black ant colony faces tremendous competition in the passing of their genes
This young queen has raised her first brood under a tree stump deep in the woodlands of Scandinavia. as the exhausted queen rests in the shadows of their new home, above ground, the local fusca colonies are preparing for the annual nuptial flight. This event is the only chance a colony gets to spread their legacy. The young colony must grow quickly if they don't want to miss their chance
Coach horse larvae, woodworms and a single funnel web spider inhabit your nest.
Objective - build 20 female alates and 20 male alates within 5 days
Once you have them you must send them to the top of the hill in the middle of the map to win. ( similarly to 4.2)
Queen's cost 120 food and drones cost 70. They have high health and speed but they can't attack, they follow markers consistently and don't from trails.
You dig to the surface - the woodlands is vast, and food is everywhere, but the fusca colony should be carefull. Other colonies have already established foraging trails all over the area. The small scouting party should stay discreet, for now...
The map Is very large, there are pinecones and drops of sap all over the place. 3 other black ant colonies form foraging trails and harvest food, they are hostile to each other.
Coach horse beetles, Formica sanguinea queen's, red centipedes, slugs and woodlice roam the surface
You find a pinecone - the forest floor is littered with pinecones. Their nutritious seeds make for an ideal meal for the hungry colony
You find drops of sap - the bleeding trees nearby sometimes drop sap down in the leaf litter. This golden sugary liquid is prized by most ants nearby, the colony should gather the droplets quickly
You hatch a winged ant for the first time - *the colony has hatched their first alate. These winged insects will carry on colonys legacy throughout the Undergrowth"
Night falls - as the sun sets of the forest, the sound of skittering legs fills the woodland. The fusca colony should be carefull with their harvesting trails, an unfortunate encounter could lead the colony to its pemature demise.
Day arrives - as the sun dawns over a new day, the local ant colonies step up their activities, it'll be 4/3/2/1 day(s) untill the weather conditions are optimal for the nuptial flight. There is no time for rest
The nuptial flight happens in the evening of the fifth day.
Fifth day morning - grey clouds signal the arriving of a kilometre wide atmospheric depression, soon the weather conditions will be perfect for the nuptial flight to take place, the ants should make sure that the way to the takeoff platform is cleared from troublemakers to ensure the safety of the alates
You encounter a rival colony for the first time - two rival fusca colonies have come face to face! As the harvesting trail is disrupted, the two colonies adopt a new goal, to crush the competition!
You clash with a rival colony (randomised) -
a fight had broken out to the north of the fusca nest! The rival colonies will show no mercy! Only a substantial defensive force will push back the enemy lines.
These lands are contested, the black ant colonies will fight to the death to secure food for their colony
Rival colonies will attack you periodically after encountering you for the first time
The rival colony attacks you - a legion of rival fusca ants are heading toward the nest! They must be stopped!
You encounter a Formica sanguinea queen for the first time - the ants have come face to face with a Formica sanguinea queen, it's recently left it's birth colony and is now looking for a suitable host colony to parasite. It's very existence is a threat to the small colony, she will need to be incapacitated quickly
Formica sanguinea queens roam the surface from the 3rd day onward. They sometimes find your nest and rush to your queen to attack it. They are quite fast but become slower with each hit. They attack lone workers but flee if they are outnumbered.
A sanguinea queen enters your nest - a sanguinea queen has found the colony! She rushes past the defensive forces with one goal in mind, to kill the fusca monarch!
Again - another parasitic queen has entered the nest! She must be stopped!
You encounter a slug - the ants have encountered a young woodland slug, these slow mollusks may look defenseless, but they have thick hide and use a sticky mucus to repel potential predators. a large force will be needed to properly subdue this slimy grazer of the Undergrowth
Slugs don't fight back and slow down ants that touch them considerably, large slugs can be climbed and harvested for 300 food, small slugs can be picked up for 30 food.
You encounter a centipede - * an ant has be caught in the jaws of a European red centipede Lithobius forficatus. It is large, armoured and equipped with a pair of serrated venomous pincers. This deadly hunter poses a serious threat to colony operations*
Red centipedes move similarly to velvet worms, albeit much faster. they grab ants in their pincers, dealing immediate physical damage and high venom damage over time. They have high health, speed and damage. They can sometimes invade your nest.
A red centipede enters the nest - a lithobius centipede has found the colony! The ants must fight!
The nuptial flight time has arrived - *as the sun's final rays shine over the canopy, the fusca colonies march out of their nests and prepare for takeoff, the ants have an uphill battle ahead of them.
All black ant colonies send their alates together with a group of soldiers to the top of the hill. If you have no alates by this time you automatically lose. You must kill them all to remain the only one standing on the top of the hill.
Winning - with the competition crushed and the woodland dominated, the ants were able to send their royalty flying in the skies above. Many of them will die but those who survive will ensure that the fusca dynasty is carried on forever in these unforgiving lands. A true victory for this once small family!
Losing because you were unable to send the alates - unable to amass enough numbers to carry out the nuptial flight, the ants inevitably failed. Their alates will die of starvation and their small, insignificant colony will crumble and be forgotten forever.
Losing to enemies - as the queen draws her final breath, the colonys future us sealed. The confused and weakened workers will wander out and succumb to the woodland predators, and the alates are left to starve. Their legacy, had ended
I'll be speculating on 2.3 soon!!
