2024.05.20 05:32 khajiithasmemes2 Fermi Paradox - 1.

Memory Transcription Subject: Arthek, Governor of Venlil Prime, Hoobyist Archaeologist.
Date [Standardized Human Time]: Servers Unresponsive - Time Unknown. ——
I couldn’t lie and say that the Federation was perfect, to say so would be arrogant, but I believed it necessary. The natural state of things, that all of the Empathetic Species may join paw in universal brotherhood. I knew of its rightness from the day I could comprehend morality itself. I cherished the knowledge that our myriad species were destined to come together, for it was natural. I fostered deeply the revelation that the universe was a pasture and the myriad species that made up our humble home was one herd, all brothers. I had devoted my entire life to its continued existence, out of love alone.
I wished that I could add nuance to my zeal, but I could not. In my heart, I knew it was an irrevocable truth. All species shared one origin. This wasn’t unprovable like religion, or some deeply held superstition. It was a studied fact. Embedded deep within our conscious lay dormant memories. Flashes of warm light and white shapes. Large beings that towered over us, their features unidentifiable as they took one knee and encouraged our distant ancestors to toddle towards them. These fragmented memories of long dead predecessors were shared by every species we had come across, save for the Predators.
We don’t know much about those towering mirages that swaddled us when we were so young. All we know is that they loved, and their love could only be mimicked by us. Proof of this was found in what little we could find of their existence. They called themselves ‘Men’, and they controlled the Galaxy uncontested far before us. They were the first sentient species to exist. They made us, they showed us kindness, and through that mandated that all species - save for the intruding Predators - were bound as one large family. No words had to be shared, the memories we had would suffice.
Therefore, we forever walk in the shadow of these Men.
I hoped to walk closer than any other. I couldn’t call myself anyone particularly interesting. A few years spent as a judge had begun my political career, jetsoning me into the office of Venlil Prime’s Governor. It’s hard to believe it, but here I stood - on a platform of common good. I followed what I believed to be the example of the Men, for I had dedicated my tenure to public housing, support systems for the destitute, and protected their vision by expanding the Extermination Offices - causing me to boast the highest treatment rates in years.
Between boorish meetings and politicking, I savored my favorite hobby. I was an amateur archaeologist with a small collection. Mostly pottery shards from pre-uplift times, some old cups, and the likes. Hardly anything special, or I’d say so if not for a prized artifact of mine. A small piece of Mankind, characteristic of what few pieces of evidence we found to their existence. A plastic bauble, once white and yellowed by age. It didn’t seem all that interesting, it was shaped like a primitive rocket ship. Undetailed save for dirt stains and sun-damage.
But if one looked closely, there remained some detail still. Ancient symbols, faded and almost invisible to the naked eye. But with enough analysis, they could be seen as clear as day. Strangle circular symbols, indicative as a possible writing system. They were clear, ‘CCCP’.
It was a child’s toy, a bauble. And yet I still wondered what that could possibly mean? Was my assumption true, and was it writing? Was it a learning tool for children? Perhaps windows for whatever astronaut laid inside to peer through. All I knew is that I laid eyes on a device once held by Men, in the shape of the very devices they used to transverse the galaxy. Before now, I thought I would never see more. That this plaything was the largest I’d see, the only living testament to that ancient species, who existed so long ago … But I was wrong.
The small spacecraft rocked too and fro, myself strapped in and practically bouncing from anticipation. The news had reached my ears fast, that an astroarchaeological ship had made the discovery of the century. A spaceship, older than Venlil Prime itself. One that only could have belonged to men. I needed to see it, to view pre-history with my own eyes beyond trinkets and rusted tools. And here I was, being shuttled to the larger craft which stored it.
My singular companion, the Pilot, cast me a sidelong gaze - quizzical at my demeanor. I was a grown Ram, bouncing in my seat like a pup. The pilot, a scraggly farsul who evidently had hygiene as a fifth or seventh priority, let out a low chuckle at the sight. I had a reputation, admittedly, for my idealism and generally … pupishness. Still focused on his screens, he spoke with a raspy, low voice that strained my ears to hear.
“Excitable, huh?”
I chuckled idly in response to the question, my ears as erect as could be in an effort to hear his thin voice. “How could you be anything else at a time like this?”
The pilot responded to my chuckle with one of his own, a ominous growl that sounded more like a grunt than any laugh I’ve ever heard. “Discovery of the century, huh? I never got all the fanfare ‘round these guys … Every twenty-odd years, we find some old piece of steel or plastic or something else, and the experts squeak ‘Man-made! Man-Made!’ Then … Well … Suddenly all of the really cool stuff gets pushed to the back of the shelf, Y’know?”
His pessimistic comment affected me not, as I drummed my paws on the sides of the seat, “It’s proof. You know we all-“
“Remember?” He cut my speech short, “Yeah, yeah … Just remember, we don’t even know what men looked like. All you Federal bigwigs like to praise them like they’re gods, but you don’t know nothing about them. What they were like, why they made us, what they ate … “
He paused, resting his head against his seat’s headrest, casting me the most rancid, speh-eating approximation of a smile I’ve ever seen.
“You ever considered that maybe God’s a predator?”
I remained silent then, opening my mouth open and closed again, unsure just how to respond to such an accusation. This pilot was not someone I liked, at all. I ceased showing any forms of excitement and awkwardly sat, containing my anticipation as the sight of the Astroarchaeology ship came into view.
We’d find proof that this pilot was wrong. There was no way a predator would go out of their way to seed so many worlds, create us, and give us empathy. They hated all of that, for they lacked all of those things. He was full of speh, and I knew it.
A twinge of uncertainty momentarily cracked my lifelong zeal as we began to pull into the ship’s bay. History would be made today, one way or another. For better or worse, I’d be here to see it firsthand.

2024.05.20 05:17 harriskeith29 Why self-forgiveness was the key all along to Anakin Skywalker's redemption (fan analysis)

TLDR- Anakin Skywalker couldn't overcome Darth Vader or the Dark Side with the forgiveness of others. The only way to let go of his hate, return to the Light Side, and finally find peace was by forgiving himself.
From the moment he was first "consumed by Darth Vader", as Yoda put it, the greatest fundamental challenge for Anakin to return to the Light was never being forgiven by others. It wouldn't make enough difference if everyone he'd ever hurt or killed sincerely told him "I forgive you", if his mom appeared in a vision to console him, if Padme herself died still believing there was good in him, or even if his own son was willing to die believing there was good in him. Whatever they said or did wouldn't change his heart.
The core of Vader's hatred and pain was never about needing or wanting others' forgiveness or remorse, which is a major reason why he stayed a devout Sith for so long. Because the Sith's strength in the Force comes from their emotions, that way of life became an outlet for him to continue living in the personal Hell that, deep down, he thought he deserved (since all he had left for so long were self-imposed negative emotions). He was his own worst judge & critic. It wouldn't matter how much he did to atone for his crimes (except perhaps to the victims & their loved ones) if he still held himself in nothing but contempt.
In the Sith Lord's mind, even with all this power + the Empire's armies at his disposal, he felt like a failure who deserved his suffering. At every opportunity to repent, he chose to stay on the Sith's path because he didn't believe any other path was left to him. Quoting a review of the Darth Vader comics:
"The kyber crystal he’s trying to force into a Sith crystal, to crush its will beneath his own, fights back with throwing at him what Anakin Skywalker still wants to do, the right thing to do, saying that it’s still possible. It shows him that it’s still possible. But Vader refuses it. That path is no longer possible, it would go against everything he’s sacrificed to get where he is, his betrayal of the Jedi, his killing Padme (so he thinks), his turning his back on the Republic, the murders he’s committed, the monster he’s made himself, it would all have been for nothing if he turned back now. All he would have on that path is nothing, Vader thinks.
Never mind that he would have the right thing, never mind that Obi-Wan would see him as Anakin again and would have forgiven him, would have taken him back, never mind that he could have saved the galaxy from Sidious’ cruelty and horrors. Vader still forces himself to believe that all of that would be nothing. He has to keep moving forward, the sacrifices he made, the things he did and will do, have to be worth it, and that won’t happen on that other path. This new life is his only choice now. The only way out is through. This is all there is."
Vader was dead set on forcing this path to be worth everything he'd lost. He didn't believe he deserved any better after all he'd done. He convinced himself Anakin symbolized weakness from a failed past, but one could also interpret that he believed (even if he wouldn't admit it to himself) he was unworthy of the name.
Vader told Luke "There is no conflict. That name no longer has any meaning for me.", but the anger in his voice during that assertion suggested otherwise. The name Anakin Skywalker simultaneously served as: A) A reminder of his failure to save those closest to him. B) A reminder of when he had family, friends, and so much in his life to be grateful for (in spite of hardships & losses) that he took for granted. Self-loathing was all he understood anymore, and it was that hate that helped give him so much power even with his injuries.
The only way Anakin could find his way back to the Light, even for just one final self-sacrificial act, was to receive forgiveness from the most important person, the one at the root of his decades of hatred... HIMSELF. As long as that self-hatred continued fueling his immersion in the Dark Side, nobody could reach him regardless of who they were or how they approached the situation. Even when his inner conflict started to emerge thanks to Luke's influence, he still believed it was "too late" for him to turn back or be anything else.
He couldn't bear the thought of going back to the path of the Light when his most defining memory of being on it was when he betrayed everything/everyone that life had given him. For all these years, he adamantly believed he could have saved everyone if only he'd been stronger. If only he hadn't allowed the Jedi's dogma to hold him back from his full potential. That ambition led to him losing Padme. He may have even believed in some warped way that turning Luke (and/or Leia) to the Dark would allow them to be a family again.
Even if Luke killed Vader to take his place at Palpatine's side, they'd still be connected in that they'd be links in the chain of Sith history + legacy. It was only in the moment of seeing Luke about to be killed that Anakin finally broke through, screaming "ENOUGH! It's time to LET GO! Let go of the past, let go of your hate (echoing Luke)! Your family needs you! Your son needs you! He is the best of you and his mother! You're RIGHT HERE! You can make a different choice this time. It's NOT too late! You can still SAVE HIM! SAVE HIM!!!!!"
And so, at the cost of his life, he did. When Luke said "I'll not leave you here. I've got to save you." and his father replied "You already have. You were right about me.", Anakin was implying that Luke was right about letting go of hate. That would only be possible to do if Anakin forgave himself. THAT'S how he was able to die, ascend, and be reborn as a Force Ghost. THAT was the most vital step from the start to his redemption.
By accepting everything that had happened on his journey, acknowledging that the direction he went was wrong, realizing it was ultimately his own choice even when accounting for Palpatine's influence, and no longer letting his negative feelings hold him down, he'd finally achieved peace with himself and the Force.

Dale Balford's heart raced as he stared into the mirror, his reflection staring back at him with a sinister grin. He blinked, and the reflection blinked too. He moved his hand, and the reflection moved in perfect synchronization. But then, something changed. The reflection's smile turned into a sneer, and it moved away from his movements, as if it had a mind of its own.
At first, Dale dismissed it as a trick of the light or his imagination playing tricks on him. But as the days went by, the reflection in the mirror became more and more independent, doing things that Dale didn't do. It would wave at him when he didn't wave, or make faces at him. It was like a dark shadow, lurking in the mirror, waiting to pounce.
Dale's unease turned into fear as the figure in the mirror became more malevolent. It would mock him, whispering cruel words that only he could hear. It would mimic his every move, but with a twisted and sinister twist. Dale couldn't escape it, no matter how hard he tried. It was always there, lurking in the mirror, waiting for him. He was afraid to use the mirror, but was also constantly compelled to, because what was happening was so weird and impossible.
As the days turned into weeks, Dale's life became consumed by the dark figure in the mirror. He couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, couldn't focus on anything else. He was constantly on edge, waiting for the figure to make its next move. He knew he had to do something, but he didn't know what. He couldn't even bring himself to tell anyone about it, for fear of being labeled as crazy.
But then, one night, the figure in the mirror did something that sent chills down Dale's spine. It stepped out of the mirror and into the room. Dale could feel its cold breath on his neck as it whispered in his ear, "I am free now, and I will never leave you."
Dale's mind raced as he tried to figure out what was happening. How could a reflection come to life? Was he losing his mind? But then, he remembered something from his childhood. A story his grandmother used to tell him about a dark entity that could possess mirrors and torment its victims. Could it be true? Was this figure in the mirror that very entity?
Determined to find answers, Dale began intense research, scouring books and the internet for any information on the dark entity. He discovered that it was indeed real, and it was known as a "mirror demon." According to the legends, the only way to banish it was to find its origin and destroy it.
Armed with this knowledge, Dale searched his house for any clues. He found an old, dusty mirror in the attic, covered in strange symbols and markings. He knew this was it. This was the source of the mirror demon. With trembling hands, he smashed the mirror, hoping it would banish the entity for good.
But instead, the figure in the mirror only grew stronger. It laughed at Dale's feeble attempt to banish it and began to torment him even more. Dale was at his wit's end. He didn't know what else to do. He was trapped in a never-ending nightmare, with no escape in sight.
But then, a glimmer of hope appeared. In his research, Dale had come across occult information a ritual that could banish the mirror demon once and for all. It was a dangerous and risky ritual, but Dale was desperate. He gathered all the necessary items described in the information: the main mirror and the more suspect mirror, a Holy Bible, three feathers, the bones of a bird, and the blood of a lizard (this was not easy or pleasant to obtain).
On the next full moon, Dale stood in front of his mirror, trembling with fear and determination. He had been haunted by the demon that lived within it for far too long, and he knew it was time to take matters into his own hands. With the mirror from the attic in one hand and a Holy Bible in the other, he began the ritual that he had researched and prepared for weeks. He placed three feathers on the ground, representing the trinity of good, and then carefully arranged the bones of a bird, symbolizing the demon's weakness. Finally, he took the blood of a lizard and poured it over the mirror, chanting the ancient words of banishment that he didn't really understand.
As the ritual reached its climax, the mirror began to shake violently, and the man could feel the demon's presence growing weaker. With one final cry, he smashed the hand mirror against the cursed one, shattering it and breaking the demon's hold on his life. The room fell silent, and the man could finally breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that he had successfully exorcised the demon from his mirror.
As soon as he finished the ritual, the room was filled with a blinding light, and the mirror demon let out a blood-curdling scream. And just like that, it was gone. Dale collapsed to the ground, exhausted but relieved. He had finally banished the entity that had been tormenting him for so long.
But Dale couldn't shake off the feeling that it wasn't over. He knew that the mirror demon could always find a way back, and he had to be vigilant. From that day on, he made sure to never have any mirrors in his house, for fear of the entity's return.

2024.05.20 04:21 HiCFlashinFruitPunch I got bored and wrote this about TPAB to send to my friends…

(The post is slightly altered because the original text was more personal and directed at my friend)
All of this is stuff you’ve already heard before so this is just my personal looks at the album, its meaning, and why it’s probably the best rap album we’ll ever see.
If you have listened to TPAB all the way through then you remember that in the final track, Mortal Man, it’s Kendrick and someone else talking. I put this together and it’s just the conversation they have so you can easily read it and see who is talking when.
This is how I interpret albums meaning: TPAB is about the issues that African Americans will face due to the neglect of the U.S. government. The idea of the butterfly is a person who has become famous, or has power. That’s why in tracks like Wesley’s Theory, the opening track, the person talking says, “When the four corners of this cocoon collide You'll slip through the cracks hopin' that you'll survive Gather your weight, take a deep look inside Are you really who they idolize? To pimp a butterfly.” A butterfly is a transformed caterpillar, so in TPAB the idea of a caterpillar is someone who the government, or really anyone for that matter, doesn’t care about. Once they become famous (transform) and have power, they are treated better or like a butterfly.
Also, fun fact about TPAB that you prob already know. The original title was going to be “To Pimp a Caterpillar.” This was because it would then abbreviate to “2PAC” instead of TPAB.
Now for the conversation:
Kendrick: “I remember you was conflicted, misusing your influence. Sometimes I did the same, abusing my power full of resentment. Found myself screaming in a hotel room. I didn’t wanna self destruct. The evils of Lucy was all around me, so I went running for answers. Until I came home, but that didn’t stop survivors guilt. Going back and forth, trying to convince myself the stripes I earned, or maybe how A-1 my foundation was. But while my loved ones were fighting a continuous war back in the dirty, I was entering a new one. A war that was based on apartheid and discrimination. Made me wanna go back to the city and tell the homies what I learned, the word was respect. Just because you wore a different gang color than mine's doesn't mean I can't respect you as a black man. Forgetting all the pain and hurt we caused each other in these streets. If I respect you, we unify and stop the enemy from killing us, but I don't know, I'm no mortal man, maybe I'm just another n*. Shit and that's all I wrote. I was gonna call it Another N** but, it ain't really a poem, I just felt like it's something you probably could relate to. Other than that, now that I finally got a chance to holla at you. I always wanted to ask you about a certain situa--, about a metaphor actually, you spoke on the ground. What you mean 'bout that, what the ground represent?”
Friend: “The ground is gonna open up and swallow the evil…”
Kendrick - “Right…”
Friend: “That's how I see it, my word is bond. I see--and the ground is the symbol for the poor people, the poor people is gonna open up this whole world and swallow up the rich people. Cause the rich people gonna be so fat, they gonna be so appetising, you know what I'm saying, wealthy, appetizing. he poor gonna be so poor and hungry, you know what I'm saying it's gonna be like... there might be some cannibalism out this mutha, they might eat the rich.”
Kendrick: “Aight so let me ask you this then, do you see yourself as somebody that's rich or somebody that made the best of their own opportunities?”
Friend: “I see myself as a natural born hustler, a true hustler in every sense of the word. I took nothin', I took the opportunities, I worked at the most menial and degrading job and built myself up so I could get it to where I owned it. I went from having somebody manage me to me hiring the person that works my management company. I changed everything I realized my destiny in a matter of five years you know what I'm saying I made myself a millionaire. I made millions for a lot of people now it's time to make millions for myself, you know what I'm saying. I made millions for the record companies, I made millions for these movie companies, now I make millions for us.”
Kendrick: “And through your different avenues of success, how would you say you managed to keep a level of sanity?”
Friend: “and by my faith in "all good things come to those that stay true. You know what I'm saying, and it was happening to me for a reason, you know what I'm saying, I was noticing, shit, I was punching the right buttons and it was happening. So it's no problem, you know I mean it's a problem but I'm not finna let them know. I'm finna go straight through.”
Kendrick: “Would you consider yourself a fighter at heart or somebody that only reacts when they back is against the wall?”
Friend: “Shit, I like to think that at every opportunity I've ever been threatened with resistance, it's been met with resistance. And not only me but it goes down my family tree. You know what I'm saying, it's in my veins to fight back.”
Kendrick: “Aight well, how long you think it take before n***** be like, we fighting a war, I'm fighting a war I can't win and I wanna lay it all down.”
Friend: “In this country a black man only have like 5 years we can exhibit maximum strength, and that's right now while you a teenager, while you still strong or while you still wanna lift weights, while you still wanna shoot back. Cause once you turn 30 it's like they take the heart and soul out of a man, out of a black man in this country. And you don't wanna fight no more. And if you don't believe me you can look around, you don't see no loud mouth 30-year old muthafuckas.”
Kendrick: “That's crazy, because me being one of your offspring of the legacy you left behind I can truly tell you that there's nothing but turmoil goin' on so I wanted to ask you what you think is the future for me and my generation today?”
Friend: “I think that n***** is tired of grabbin' shit out the stores and next time it's a riot there's gonna be, like, uh, bloodshed for real. I don't think America know that. I think American think we was just playing and it's gonna be some more playing but it ain't gonna be no playing. It's gonna be murder, you know what I'm saying, it's gonna be like Nat Turner, 1831, up in this muthafucka. You know what I'm saying, it's gonna happen.”
Kendrick: “That's crazy man. In my opinion, only hope that we kinda have left is music and vibrations, lotta people don't understand how important it is. Sometimes I be like, get behind a mic and I don't know what type of energy I'mma push out, or where it comes from. Trip me out sometimes.”
Friend: “Because the spirits, we ain't even really rappin', we just letting our dead homies tell stories for us.”
Kendrick: I wanted to read one last thing to you. It's actually something a good friend had wrote describing my world. It says: "The caterpillar is a prisoner to the streets that conceived it. Its only job is to eat or consume everything around it, in order to protect itself from this mad city. While consuming its environment the caterpillar begins to notice ways to survive. One thing it noticed is how much the world shuns him, but praises the butterfly. The butterfly represents the talent, the thoughtfulness, and the beauty within the caterpillar. But having a harsh outlook on life the caterpillar sees the butterfly as weak and figures out a way to pimp it to his own benefits. Already surrounded by this mad city the caterpillar goes to work on the cocoon which institutionalizes him. He can no longer see past his own thoughts. He's trapped. When trapped inside these walls certain ideas take roots, such as going home, and bringing back new concepts to this mad city The result? Wings begin to emerge, breaking the cycle of feeling stagnant. Finally free, the butterfly sheds light on situations that the caterpillar never considered, ending the internal struggle. Although the butterfly and caterpillar are completely different, they are one and the same. What's your perspective on that? Pac? Pac? Pac?!”

2024.05.20 04:02 Novaccentric Destiny’s Biggest Weakness is himself (Structure)

To my recollection, one of Destiny’s greatest strengths in his debates is his ability to understand a set of talking/data points and use them to formulate a sound argument. He has many other strengths and strategies as well, but this skill has been a cornerstone in his arsenal since the beginning. Despite having such a strong skill set for debates, he has consistently been nerfed from working through the facts of any debate by his opponent's lack of an ability to analyze the points he presents and/or engage in good faith with the critiques he proposes during any debate. While there are many different strategies that could be taken to try and remedy this, there is one that Destiny has been apprehensive to engage in for optics reasons until this point. This would be appealing strictly to a set of rules of engagement for the debate and having them enforced by a third party(moderator).
I think that one of the best showings that Destiny had in the past few years was his debate with Rollo and Michael Sartain (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOcbaUaxHSA). I think that a large part of the reason that this debate went so well is because it is one of the only times I am aware of that Destiny has employed the strategy I believe should be his core strategy going forward. Establish a set of rules for the conversation, and then work within those rules to have the debate move smoothly. Unfortunately, it looks like August cut out the first part of the debate where they do this in the video I found, and the original video is gone, so I have a version from friend of the stream Alex to reference!
https://youtu.be/4eiJSl2gHEE?t=1794 In this clip, you’ll see Destiny lay out all of the pre-defined rules as I mentioned above. Doing this not only makes sure that the entire party is on the same page and is agreeing to the type of conversation that they are having from the on set but also acts as a strong tool to keep them from using certain tactics to break them later on. Instead of pointing out that they are not answering a question or point in the debate, which they at no point agreed that they would do (most of the time), he can point out that they are breaking an agreement that they came to before, forcing them to take the optical loss of going back on their word if they want to engage in a weaselly tactic. This would also act as a hard trigger for Destiny to tone shift in the Debate immediately.
As Destiny has seemingly struggled in recent debates on when to tone shift and go hard on an opponent at the risk of sounding “mean.” This will help him address that problem by having a solid point in the debate where the opponent essentially consents to the debate going off the rails through no fault of Destiny’s as he had communicated the rules, and they chose to break them, forcing the debate into a different course.
The Destiny V.S. Finkelstein debate would have looked drastically different if Destiny had started out by stating that as they are all well-read on the topic that they are discussing, and as such, they should be citing something when they are bringing up specific points or be able to give a concrete reference to where they got the idea from in the debate. That failure to do this should result in that party backing down from the point, and each side must directly address any criticism when brought up by the opposition. where they can’t, concessions should be made as they move from point to point so things move smoothly. The tone and games played would have been completely different, and Destiny would have had a bulletproof set of rules to hold Finkelstein to and hit him with each time he tried to downplay any point he would make. My guess is that Destiny would argue that this is not the case, that Finkelstein is a clown, and he would not have backed down as he went there to clown on him in the first place, but at the bare minimum, it would have been a trigger to go hard with justification rather than getting steamrolled for most of the first half of the debate through interruptions.
Imagine living in the timeline where Destiny held Rollo Tomassi, the drama frog of the red pill, to a higher standard than Norman Finkelstein, a supposed academic expert. Oh, wait, that’s this timeline, fuck me, DANK MEMES.
These things should be agreed on both prior to the event with the moderator and opponent and during the debate for the audience, as if they made the agreement at some point but the audience does not know, then it does fuck all as an incentive for the opponent as they can just lie.
Finally, Destiny can also go as far as to prepare clips in the event he is going on high-production shows. These shows have producers that can go through the trouble of having a set of clips ready to play if Destiny provides this list to the team before the show starts so they are ready to bring them up easily. It is not a hard ask on most shows, and Destiny should be willing to at least make the request; the worst-case scenario is that they say they can’t, but he can reference it in the debate later or point out bias if they play clips against him during a debate but refused to use his supporting clips.
Organizing these debates with the moderators a bit more is a small change for a large advantage in these debates; Destiny just needs to work through the wall he currently (seemingly) has of not wanting to make any asks from his end to do it.

2024.05.20 03:52 Revolutionary-Bus411 Is Bruce Wayne Batman, or is Batman Bruce Wayne? A Short Analysis

Is Bruce Wayne Batman, or is Batman Bruce Wayne? A Short Analysis
"Batman is the mask" This quote by the renowned Kevin Conroy often sparks debate within the Batman fandom. For casual fans, it's a compelling argument that Bruce Wayne and Batman are distinct personas, with Bruce being perceived as the facade. However, hardcore fans tend to disagree, seeing it as undermining Bruce's significance.
Yet, amidst these discussions, there's a deeper layer to Conroy's statement that warrants exploration (by that I mean my yapping). It's not about Bruce Wayne being merely a mask; it's about the complex interplay between his identities. Even Bruce himself, at times, struggles with this duality. There's a moment when Nightwing questions Bruce's identity, ask him “if there is no Bruce Wayne then who is Dick Grayson the adopted son of who raised him?” highlighting the conflict between his roles as Bruce Wayne and Batman. However, as the story unfolds, Bruce realizes that both personas are integral parts of him.

Bruce's essence is not solely encapsulated by Batman. His compassion, instilled by his parents, particularly his father, drives him to protect life
https://preview.redd.it/hk71bti1lh1d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5521f0ed933de88312129324d2ced7f3e40f37d3
and mentor young heroes like Dick Grayson. His empathy for children stems from his own traumatic past, adding depth to his character beyond the cape and cowl.
https://preview.redd.it/k14614y2lh1d1.jpg?width=659&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8cee19a969769cd074e4b859424ae14215bdcddd
While Batman serves as a conduit for Bruce's true self, allowing him to confront his trauma and uphold justice, it's not without its complexities. Bruce grapples with his role, occasionally using Batman to mask his pain or as a symbol greater than himself. Despite his aversion to the mantle of Batman, he persists, driven by a sense of duty and homage to his father Bruce knows that the mask is a part of him
https://preview.redd.it/g5c5mjedlh1d1.jpg?width=696&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a46d8a8426da675c50861fd869f6c05a7959c74
However, there's a cautionary tale within Bruce's journey. When he neglects his humanity in favor of the Batman persona, he risks becoming a monster. Yet, even in the face of this darkness, he continues his vigil, recognizing the inseparability of both identities. (yet again lol) He find out Batman and Bruce Wayne are a fundamental part of who he is and he needs Bruce Wayne balance batman.
https://preview.redd.it/g530480llh1d1.jpg?width=602&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf4d317d65d8c879eaaf55972331fda349d1339d
In essence, neither Bruce Wayne nor Batman is merely a mask; they're intertwined facets of a multifaceted character. The true essence of Batman lies in the synthesis of Bruce's humanity and the symbol he embodies—a dynamic balance between light and shadow, justice and vengeance.
So, while the superficial personas of the "Playboy billionaire" and the "dark knight" may be masks, the essence of Bruce/Batman transcends these labels. It's in this nuanced space between identities that the true character of Batman emerges—a testament to the complexity of heroism and the human condition.
Don’t Really Know if all that made sense but i wanted to ramble thanks for reading this for if you got here :)

2024.05.20 03:00 Ashamed-Peach4919 George cooper plot hole now made cannon, my theory on this

George cooper plot hole now made cannon, my theory on this
George cooper plot hole now made cannon. My theory on this
I’m aware of the George cooper time travel theory however, with the new evidence I have provided below I am sure you will agree that the theory is finally complete.
in s5 ep11 of the Big Bang theory it’s revealed that George Cooper wad was Leonard’s high school bully. Yet Sheldon who supposedly has a photographic memory didn’t recognise him? This perfect memory is later disproven when Sheldon and Amy break out a tape that young Sheldon recorded for old Sheldon as he does not remember what he said to himself on the tape.
However, I believe that the more likely reasoning is that George Cooper is a master of Disguise hence the wig and young attire. Sheldon probably didn’t recognise him due to his autism much like when he fails to recognise jokes, sarcasm and social cues ect.
With the official canonisation of Young Sheldon this means that the two shows are officially part of the same timeline making the whole of Young Sheldon Cannon to the Big Bang theory universe. This would solidify without a doubt that the George Cooper we see in young Sheldon is indeed the one and only George cooper.
In the most recent episode of young Sheldon George attended his own funeral in disguise dressed as an older woman sat in the far back row this being his first disguise. I believe that George faked his death to escape his life and was using his own funeral as a symbolic final goodbye to his old life.
Why would he do this? Most people would think he had enough of his family and the torment of Sheldon, Mary is extremely religious perhaps she doesn’t believe in divorce? This cannot be the case as the pair have almost divorced several times the best example being the episode where Sheldon gets his first computer.
I believe that he had an immense debt that he couldn’t pay off we regularly see the Coopers in financial distress, this time it went too far. George loves his family and Mary is too busy to have a full time job, so it is only reasonable that After his first heart attack it he would have taken a large life insurance out on himself securing his family’s safety if the worst ever happened. With no way to pay off his substantial debt George would not bankrupt his family at such a late stage in their lives, this would have destroyed them therefore, he knew that faking his death would secure his family’s future.
So he faked his death, attended his own funeral as a symbolic goodbye to his old life and went on to use his skills as a master of disguise to enroll himself at Leonard’s high school, bullying Leonard for his intelligence leading him down the path of scientific advancements eventually leading him to inevitably move in with Sheldon, ensuring that Sheldon had a friend to guide him through his journey not only was he Sheldon’s best friend but he was a father figure to him, without Leonard Sheldon would not have met the rest of the gang leading him into his adult life eventually leading to his marriage, George later resurfaces to see how his son is doing in his later life, checking in on him.
Personally i believe it is Without a shadow of a doubt that George cooper, master of disguise and family man faked his own death in order to save his family and guided Sheldon’s life to the correct path through the bullying of young lenard to ensure he had not only a successful future, but a happy one.

2024.05.20 02:39 contemporary_romance "After the Dark" Ending [Spoilers] obviously implied.

I had watched this movie once when it came out, then again just the other day with a friend. And we were discussing the ending, pitching to each other what we thought about meant. As it show's 3 similar scenes with different outcomes, the middle outcome being him committing suicide.
At first I looked at it as a passage of time montage, so my take that he continued to life his life normally for a while, then decided he couldn't do it any longer, and finally we get a glimpse of his version of the afterlife. Which I don't think is necessarily the worst interpretation. But with the last image of the movie being Petra smiling in a white background, it didn't feel as a particularly satisfying interpretation.
So then I finally decided to give up and search for what other people thought coming to this fantastic analysis by The Love Pirate, in which he or her or they? say this " She gives him a final kiss and leaves, and we see three possible endings for Zimit, each beginning with him walking down the hall to his office and taking a seat at his desk. First, he simply opens his lunch and eats a sandwich, going on with his life as normal. In the second one he pulls a gun out his drawer and we hear a gunshot, the assumption being that he ended his life rather than go on without Petra. In the third, he sits at his desk and has a vision of Petra smiling, symbolizing that he might have learned something from her in this final class and is following her example."
That last sentence stuck in my mind, and I began to think "what if it's deeper than that?" I started thinking about how there were 3 doomsday scenarios, and 3 endings for Zimmit. And was trying to figure out if there was a parallels for each of the endings and each iteration of the thought experiments. And this is what I came up with when re-examining the final scenes of the movie based on the inspiration of The Love Pirate.
After Petra give Mr. Zimmit her goodbye kiss , both of them relax on opposite sides of a wall. Petra staring ahead, while Mr. Zimmit leans his head into the wall, as if he does still love her and explains the etymology of the word Apocalypse. "To uncover what you couldn't see before, a way out of the Dark."
The entire movie so far has been Mr. Zimmit trying to convince Petra time and time again using logic that James isn't the best decision for her to make as a life choice. He acts over attached, and petty about being broken up with, and has been hyperfocused on getting her to see things from his perspective.
When Mr Zimmit is explaining it,he's humbly and sheepishly apologizing for his behavior, but also thanking Petra for helping him out of his selfish mindset. He didn't stop to think about living life from anyone else's philosophy other than his own that was ruled by cold hard logic.
To which Petra replies, "Your sweet talk still needs work." A playful jab, but it's clear she doesn't hate him or demonize him for what he had done that day. In a way she's even saying with a little work, he'd still get be capable of being happy in life even if it's not with her. It's a student becomes the teacher moment when he replies. "I'll work on that."
In that last line Petra reassures him that he's a very good teacher. She had learned a lot from him and is grateful for the experience despite the lows, she still values him greatly.
At this point, what I think is happening, Erik Nimmit on the spot starts running himself thru the three scenarios using Petra's philosphy, a basic test of empathic thinking.
He walks up the stairs , sits in his office and takes a bite out of his sandwich, but he's thinking about the conflict that drove them apart in the first thought experiment. Petra couldn't trust him. From her perspective he executed everyone who didn't make the cut for the bunker with no witnesses. He identified as a wild card, and even though Petra was using the emotion of fear to make that decision, It was still a logical decision to make.
Him eating the sandwhich is him envisioning himself the outcome of being an untrustworthy partner. Alone in his office living life day to do without someone. The consequence of who he is inside.
He walks up the stairs, this time retrieving a handgun from his drawer and ending his life. The parallel to what he had done in the second iteration would be the likely outcome of if Zimmit used that same brutal logic in real life. If his logic would compel him to force people to have multiple partners , sleep with someone who wasn't all that keen on them to sleep with him, or force gay people to sleep with people they weren't attracted too. His logic would make him so ugly even to himself that he'd end his life.
Finally Mr Zimmit walks up the stairs, and closes his eyes. Remembering Petra. I no longer thing that this was some after life vision. But him thinking about her being happy in her future life. The white backround doesn't seem ethereal... it seems cold, and she's wearing a sweater.
In the third scenario Petra fully takes over the thought experiment, She says, In my apocolypse no life is more valuable than another. Logic alone can not make your life more meaningful, contrasting to one of the the first statements Mr. Zimmit makes in the movie. That most people are nutters by the age of 40. He had spent the entire movie looking down on people with a lower intellect, or different sexualities, or their life circumstances or situations, In a way to make himself more attractive to Petra. And finally he realized how ugly it made him, and Petra was the one who taught him that. Now he could finally move on, and be happy for her future even if he wouldn't be in it.
But I'd love to hear from any other fans of this movie , do you think i'm onto something here?

She also finds being the only one of her friends to make it back to the place that she tried so hard to run away from as a form of twisted irony. A cosmic punishment for tampering with a mystical artifact that was far beyond her understanding, leading to her friends and their loved ones paying the price for it.
•A lot of the same plot beats still happen such as Fight at the Museum, Fixing Frobo, If You Give A Frog A Cookie, and Mr. X but episodes such as Thai Feud and Temple Frogs don't due to Marcy obviously not having the same familial bonds as Anne and Adventures in Catsitting due to The Boonchuys being unable to schedule a dentist's appointment for a child that is not under their legal guardianship.
• Marcy wears her blue Newtopian cloak even with her casual clothing just in case she sees her parents and needs to hide her face from them under her hood so they don't recognize her. (There is a running gag through season 3 where she has to make sure she doesn't stand under any sprinklers in case her cloak spontaneously combusts.)
• Back in Amphibia, The Core, now no longer having Marcy, decides to take Anne. Now calling themself Dianne, they use Anne not for her mind... but instead for her power and to use it for it's namesake.............. to bring about Calamity.
• Andrias still sends out the Assassin bot to Willow Brooke to kill Marcy and the Plantars in order to tie up any loose ends in his plans.
• Marcy's Calamity powers awaken while protecting the Plantars in the Supermarket and finds that her powers allow her to use magic though the use of any staff-like object. In this case, a metal pipe in the storage freezer that she was going to use to bash in the robot's head, and summons a blast of energy to send the Assassin bot packing. Marcy later buys a foldable walking staff from a drug store and carries it around in her satchel in case of "Magical Girl emergencies" as she calls them. (Her powers are an homage to Matt's original idea for Marcy to be a sorceress.)
• In this version of Anne-sterminator, it's laundry day and since Marcy can't go back to her house to grab clean clothes, she has to wear some of Anne's, namely her iconic St. James Middle School uniform. When the Assassin bot comes to kill Marcy, it sees Marcy in Anne's clothes and gets confused allowing everyone time to escape. In the junkyard, Marcy whips out her staff and uses her Calamity powers to cast an Anti-gravity spell on the Assassin bot, launching it into orbit where it's bomb detonates. Marcy finally has to come clean about Andrias and what happened to Anne. While the Boonchuys are devastated about Anne, they know that Anne would have wanted to get the Plantars and Sasha back home and use that as motivation to keep going.
• While in The Core, Anne's Fantasy world is one where Amphibia and Earth are merged into one and she doesn't have to choose. (A tongue in cheek mocking of Star vs' ending) She gets sus when she notices everyone acting off. When Anne calls bull on the whole thing, The Core leaves her in the darkness with only the light of her phone containing her real memories to keep her company.
• During The Core's invasion, Dianne uses Anne's Calamity powers in their fight against Sasha making it far more of a brutal beat-down than a proper 1v1. When Grime sacrifices himself, it causes Sasha's Calamity powers to awaken, making it a fair fight.
• While battling Andrias, when Marcy starts running low on Calamity juice, Andrias starts mocking her. Telling her that "If she wants to, he'll gladly let her use the music box to take her to another world where she can run away from her problems.... again." and this, along with the Boonchuys playing "As If It's Your Last" by Blackpink over the city's loudspeakers to remind Marcy that she's doing all this for Anne leads to an epic tear filled "I'm... Done... Running..." as she twirls her staff around, her powers flare back up, and she gets her second wind.

2024.05.20 01:39 Berserk2024 My reworked character with tweaks

(the wolf mutation has nothing to do with the quirks actuall power. Like Koda and Tokoyami's heads or minas antenna.)
Name Matthew Hammond age 15
Quirk: Power control
Has the ability to control a type of energy only he has.
Ways to use this energy is standard strength and speed by but the power into your muscle fibers and organs to enhance their performance. Matthew can also materialize this power in different ways. He finds out how he can do this by watching others, for example shock waves or energy tenticals.
The main weakness is energy drain. I know what y'all probably thinking, "this is like every quirks weakness cause I swing your quirk can tire you out", but his quirks energy drain.
When he use his quirk, the energy runs down and if uses a all out attack he loses the energy and cant use his quirk.
But on the good side , this energy grows back over time , and since it's his quirk energy if he goes to where he let out a huge attack, he can absorbed it back. It takes like an hour to get his power back to 100% naturally if he just goes on with his day.
Mutation: * Wolf Ears and Tail: Matthew has permanent wolf-like ears and a tail as a result of his mutation.* Laser Eyes: Matthew can emit powerful laser beams from his eyes. This mutation was a rare coincident.
Also he can share his energy with others to enhance their quirks cause energy works like that I think.
Elemental Forms and Powers:
  1. Lightning Form (Name: Volt)
Weakness: If used too much then it will damage his nervous system temporarily.
  1. Fire Form (Name: Blaze):
Weakness: if you use too much then we'll gain first degree burns.
  1. Water Form (Name: Aquos):
Weakness: No clear weakness.
  1. Ice Form (Name: Frost):
Weakness: if in a heated area, then he will get weak and slower.
  1. Light Form (Name: Radiance):
Weakness: overused will make him temporarily blind
  1. Darkness Form (Name: Shadow):
Weakness: Obviously light. Even a flashlight.
  1. Plant Form (Name: Flora):
  1. Metal Form (Name: Alloy):
Weakness: Overtime he'll get weaker cause of rust. Water
  1. Earth Form (Name: Terra):
No clear weakness.
How this works is his power works like a computer l well more like just a normal computer, then a virus AKA and elements infects this power and then it slowly corrupts his powers AKA but there until his body is able to use a different elements, the form is only as strong as his original form because the element can only corrupt what is there, not make more power. A little bit of this energy is still there so that it can take back control. Each form has a mind of its own like some dark shadow type thing. The reason why his forms have minds of their own is cause if I gave him full control his forms he would swap to frequently and that would be two strong.
The reason why he can do this is when he was 3 is quirk was developing and he was exposed to radiation messing with his quirk genes and when his quirk developed it added this.
Hero Costume:
He also has tubes that are like water bottle size on this belt that he charges with his energy every night before he goes to bed in case he runs out of energy himself.
Maximum Output Move: Master Elemental
Carrys amounted cannons inspired by Titan speaker man. They harness his power into either energy balls or just flat out lasers.
To make my self clear his max form when he uses all his elements he can only use 1/10 of his forms power including him as the main guy of this whole body.
PERSONALITY
He's smart nice in a way sometimes a prankster if you try to roast him you will go complete PackGod on you, if he's in a bad mood don't try to comfort him you'll just make things worse and not for him for you, he's really cocky, but not bakugo cocky hes just a bit over confident. He is very creative. He loves tech to the point if you break a 30 buck phone around him, let's just say you gonna want to do a crime in front of batman before Matthew finds you.
Background:
Favorite food: Red Beans and rice
6ft 2
His mom, him , brothers, and his sister some how got the same disease that Michael Jackson had so they all went from black to white. But since you're still African they do still have passes
Hates obsesseve people.
(I'm bout to do some bull shit y'all probably won't like.)
His older brother has a pheonix quirk and he's a hero.
His younger brother has the fusion quirk that I made in a past post)
His sister has digital master quirk but I also need in a previous post.
Any way I hope y'all like my reworked oc

2024.05.20 01:37 Lordfindogask I wish the Scourge being Optimus theory was canon.

This is one of those times in which I dig a fan theory, and with some small tweaks to RotB plot, it could have fit nicely.
Quoting the TF wiki, Unicron is referred to as a Multiversal singularity, capable of destroying entire universes, and that so far he destroyed something like 22% of known Universes. So, ignoring the effort of Nexus Prime to cease these singularities from existing, it wouldn't have been too difficult to connect the Bayverse and new universe. The fact that Megatronus Prime joined Unicron means that even Primes can be corrupt and the unhinged, destructive version of Optimus from the Bayverse would be a perfect candidate. Heck, he saved Unicron from being killed, maybe the god of destruction could be "thankful" in his own way? XD (Also, I don't buy the whole "let's go back to cybertron and take care of it now" at the end of TLK).
Below are the main changes.
Aesthetic changes first:
KEEP MORE AUTOBOTS DESIGNS FROM THE BUMBLEBEE MOVIE! Specifically Wheeljack. No moustache for Stratosphere. Furthermore, Optimus with a face plate always on would be nice. In both cases, you're saving resources by reusing assets and skipping Optimus' mouth animation, and you get happier fans, it's a win-win. Lastly, Bumblebee has his voicebox repaired between Bumblebee and RotB. We had enough beep-boop Bee.
Plot changes:
No need for wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. The Maximals go straight up to another universe. Their whole reality is likely obliterated by Unicron, but it will be briefly implied that either they thought Unicron died long ago or that this Unicron is different. So to starve Unicron they had to seal him into a universe to prevent him from continuing his endless path of destruction.
Now to give the fan theory some thematic importance, let's make the new Optimus and old Optimus different and by that I mean let's establish that the new Optimus won't enter the same path Bayverse Optimus took.
When Ariazor meets the Autobots, after Bumblebee is deactivated, she explains they come from a different universe, one in which Autobots and Decepticons set their differences aside and evolved into Maximals and Predacons (the Predacons we see at the beginning are rogues that joined Scourge). But when Unicron came, all their attempts failed, even using the Matrix of their own Universe wasn't enough to stop him. With their Universe now doomed, the Maximals tried to seal him away, but failed, and crashlanded on Earth. The transwarp key was lost in the process and they only recently found out it was broken in two parts.
Optimus will still say he wants to take off Scourge's head, only this time some of his fellow Autobots will remark that they never saw him like that.
Instead of shooting an infecting device to corrupt Ariazor, Scourge will fire a red beam from his chest, but he has his back to the audience so we don't see exactly what he used, for now.
When facing Scourge and corrupt Ariazor, Optimus Primal asks how did he manage to break the seal between universes, only to be interrupted by a furious Optimus Prime who shouts Scourge's name and say he's going to rip out his spark. Scourge sends Ariazor to deal with them and Primal is forced to kill her.
Primal addresses shortly after that Prime is taking a dangerous path (I know it's pretty basic "hatred leads to dark side" stuff).
Battling Mirage, Scourge doesn't lose his mask/helmet, but it's just partially crooked. He quickly readjusts it.
Later, Bumblebee is resurrected, but Optimus still seems to be bent on revenge, fighting with rage, which only seems to amuse Scourge. Optimus still cuts both of Scourge's arms but rather than "Time to show you the real power of a Prime!" he says something more similar to Bayverse Prime. He then either tries to rip Scourge's head off or just repeatedly punches it in a fit of rage and as a result the helmet falls off, revealing the twisted but still recognizable shape of Bayverse Prime. Optimus is taken aback by the realization that Scourge is a Prime from another universe. Scourges opens his chest, revealing that the red glow throughout the film was coming from his Anti-Matrix, basically a red Bayverse Matrix after he became corrupt, (that's what made this Unicron stronger). He uses the Anti-Matrix to fire a beam that hurts Optimus and pushes him back, and then to attract a couple of nearby Terrorcons that quickly transform into replacements for Scourge's arms.
REVENGEANCE HOMAGE INCOMING
Scourges says he could kill Optimus but he sees potential and offers him to join them (join me or die, fits Bayverse Prime), promising that Unicron will spare the lives of his comrades / grant them more power than ever imagined / cease all conflicts in all universes (kind of true in a twisted way).
At that moment, while the corruption is slowly spreading over his body, Optimus stands up again and says "I now see how wrong I was". Scourge's eyes glow and an evil grin appears on his face. Optimus slowly walks closer to Scourge and says that he now realizes he has been following the wrong path. While Optimus is referring to the path of revenge, Scourges thinks Optimus is really going to switch sides, so he opens his chest again, ready to corrupt Optimus' Matrix. In the meantime, the Maximals and Autobots look horrified, Primal even begs Optimus to resist, but seemingly to no avail. Optimus extends his hands, and Scourges happily shakes it. Optimus gets closer, pats Scourge's shoulder, and then finally says "This belongs to a friend of mine!" and rips Autobot's symbol from Scourge. Scourge is like "WHAT?!", still shocked. Optimus kicks him and then says "Time to show you the real power of a Prime", opens his chest and uses his Matrix to destroy Scourge's Anti-Matrix. Scourge is furious, but Unicron is even more. Without the power of the Anti-Matrix, Scourge is finally outmatched by Optimus, as he's kicked into Unicron's vortex and disappears.
The last change is that when Unicron offers Optimus anything he wants Optimus says "then, begone!" and uses the power of the Matrix to light their darkest hour and destroy the transwarp key.

2024.05.20 01:37 Hanco90 Devils Game, Part 1

Humans were always interested in evil, hell, devil, everything that's backwards from good, by the time of history of humanity people have adapted into their religions, and they believe how many miscellaneous religions exist, however in reality, there's just 2, first one is a belief in god or good and the second one is belief in devil or evil.
By those 2 beliefs, it's extremely easy not just to manipulate with singular person, but also with whole world. It's something like a domino effect, you begin with one, and then there shall be a chain reaction that will also cause influence to others. That is something that is strongest in us humans, but that is something that is incomprehensible for us.
I was always interested in that, why do lot's of people want to form contact with devil. Why does that attract, intrigue and interest them, why are there many cults and groups that are desperately in all possible ways attempting to form a contact with an evil side, the king of most evil, the devil.
That is where my story begins, it begun from my curiosity on why do people want to form a contact with devil so much. I was a student, moreso the best one in my entire class, others considered me to be a very smart person, a person with an intelligence that is above average, but I've possessed my bad sides as well, no one is perfect. My adventure begins with my one friend that trustfully informed me how he knows someone who is a participant in a local cult or sect, curious me was slyly and carefully asking about that person and cult and successfully I've received those informations, I contacted that person and told him how I would also like to become a participant in his cult. The first thing that was told to me obviously was how becoming something like that isn't such an easy and straightforward thing, because they solely pick those who are tremendously competent to be an adequate fit for their cult, I was determined to become part of it so I accepted.
It was 13th November a hour before midnight, when I've received a message to arrive on one place in which there was nothing, I knew that road that I was traveling with in my car at that night, around me were only fields and trees. I was told that after 3 turns I should turn left and go for another about 100 meters, and then next to the biggest tree I must park and get out, and after that I must make exactly 66 steps from the left of that tree, on that place I shall receive my first test. And that is what I've done, I got out of my car and observed around but there was nothing, just a sound of a basic night, when I made 66 steps, I stumbled upon one old book that was simply just laying on the ground, the grass on that place was obviously cut just so that book was noticeable. On the peace of paper that was glued on it said how should I go back to my apartment and read the entire book exactly 3 times and how I should do everything that says in it. The name of the book was "The Devils Bible" It appeared very archaic with its thick covers and yellowish heavily congregated pages, it looked like a real replica of a 500 year old bible but with all kinds of satanic symbols drawn on its covers.
I arrived at my apartment and read the book exactly 3 times, for such thing I required 3 days, but my determination was still strong, all kinds of stuff were written on it, about the creation of devil and the techniques he uses to spew evilness on this world, how to truly summon the devil, how to truly submit a victim to evil, how to sell soul, and many other miscellaneous infos about such diabolical stuff. I've remembered almost every word and read every page. However I was very skeptical about this book because the historical misinformations were ubiquitous in this book but, what I wanted I received it.
After exactly 6 days I received another textual message with an address, the address led me to an abandoned factory that was located in the edge of the city. 10 years ago that factory burned down and no one goes there anymore, apparently it's haunted and many suicides occurred there, that is why it carries a frightening history and goes by the name "Factory of Death". When I arrived in front of the factory I saw that light in one part is on, I came into a conclusion that someone was genuinely in there, before I went into it, the doors opened, and one man came out. To my surprise, that man had a very nice and elegant suit, he asked for a card that I had on the center of my book that I received, I gave it to him, and then he told me to follow him, and then I came into that room. The thing I saw there seriously left me frightened, about 20 people with black robes and hoods that covered their heads sat in a circle that on the center had a big bowl with fire, and on top was a giant cross that was turned backwards, on the walls a lot of satanic symbols were drawn.

2024.05.20 01:05 IseKai_MC Origami above (almost) everyone - DAL vol 10 cover + some illustrations

Origami above (almost) everyone - DAL vol 10 cover + some illustrations
Hello guys, since I read Date a Live, I realized that the novel has a certain quality that even more popular and cult novels do not have and that seems to go unnoticed by the fandom, the covers. Yes, the covers are spectacular and break away from the standard of most LNs, there is not just fanservice, there is not just a character striking a cool pose, we actually have covers with a certain visual narrative, whether a connection with the highlighted spirit itself or with the story itself and I will be pleased to show this to you, here are the rules:
  • Due to the oriental reading sense being left -> right of the page, the details will be presented respecting this sense.
  • A picture is worth a thousand words, and DAL is a novel so the images are even more valuable, the idea here is to analyze the covers and relevant illustrations to understand hints, references, foreshadowing, and contexts.
  • Pure fanservice images will not be taken into consideration (at least most of them). No, I’m not the type of otaku who says things like: “fanservice is unnecessary, objectification of women, too gratuitous and empty, it only serves to “excite the viewer””, the last one is even plausible and I understand those who think like this, but all the others are nothing more than cheap demagoguery. They will not be taken into consideration because in addition to not actually adding to the plot most of them are posted to exhaustion on this reddit.
  • Major spoilers will be avoided, at least directly.
{LN 10 Cover}

  • Author's name.
The first element is Tachibana’s name, again.
  • The highlighted girl.
The girl of the moment is… Origami? But how is Origami a spirit?
Calm down, my boy, you haven’t missed anything, in fact I promised plot twists and we have one right on the cover.
As for the spirit Origami, I want to draw attention to two things. The first is obviously her astral dress which is a wedding dress, each astral dress follows the taste of its spirit user and Origami as a child had the dream of being a wife, but there is much more than that, so this Astral Dress is a small hint of the main plot, this will become clearer in the Spirit Info topic.
The second is about the facial expression, Origami looks like she is waking up, this may symbolize that she has just become a spirit, it may be a premonition of the plot of this volume, which deals with Origami discovering the truth about her past. But this expression will be referenced in a scene that will happen 7 volumes later, when we get there I will talk about it.
  • Angel Tobiichi.
In the volume, Origami calls the spirit that killed her parents “angel”, look at the hint there.
Again the subtitle cites the spirit’s surname, the other time this happened was in the volume 4, Sister Itsuka, clearly there is a connection here as the Tenguu-Nankou fire was a relevant event for both spirits, I also believe that the work opts to use surnames if we already know the spirit of the cover and the main reason is that Tobiichi is written with the character 1, let’s go to the next topic.
  • Spirit info.
Origami is the bearer of the first sephirot and, suddenly, everything makes sense. The first important thing here is the rivalry between Tohka and Origami. Tohka is spirit number 10, Sephiroth Malkuth, the kingdom, the final receptacle that concentrates the creative force now in its densest and residual state, while Origami is spirit number 1, Sephirot Kether, force and light in its most subtle state that flows to the others, Malkuth is a reflection of Kether on a lower plane. The rivalry between Tohka and Origami reaches its definitive stage but there is still a small detail missing.
That is, Origami, among the spirits, is the closest to God. But it’s still too early to talk about this.
And yes, spirit number 10 is on the cover of volume 1 and spirit number 1 is on the cover of volume 10, I would have liked to come here and say that I discovered this but Tachibana put this information in the afterword.
Her codename is "Angel", again this word, the name of the angel is Metatron.
  • The title.
The title goes back to being in front of the spirit, in the composition “Date” above and “A Live” below and whenever this happens the rule that must be respected is, the characters corresponding to “Live” are always positioned in the belly of the spirit.
  • Background
Last but not least, the background, this time very hidden and perhaps in a horizontal strip format, I say perhaps because that part of the astral dress occupies almost the entire cover in that part. The novelty is due to the positioning of the strip that frames Origami’s legs, which gives a rather empty aspect to this cover. Referring to the position of Origami’s Sephiroth, closest to God, above the other sephiroth, as well as referring to the main scene of this volume.
The scenario is a bit hidden, there are some debris there but nothing that allows to fully identify the scene but obviously there is a fire happening there, which is obviously a reference to that relevant event again, the great fire in Tenguu-Nankou. I don’t even need to say how relevant this event is to Origami’s life, in her first illustration in volume 1, she says: “Five years ago a spirit killed my parents.”
Finally, in my opinion this is one of the best covers, again, just imagine you go to the convenience store to buy this newly released volume and find out that Origami is a spirit, just by the shock the value is already high, if you already know the story of the anime and stop to analyze the cover, the value is double the previous one, if you know the whole story of Date a Live, and try to analyze the cover in a deeper way, the value is the squared of the previous one.
Let’s open the volume.
{Illustration 2}
https://preview.redd.it/c4ugx8zkrg1d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d18e1c3a7176fb4e57acb7a7416e3183d5d526c7
There’s something different about this volume, the compositions have improved a lot, apparently a reflection of the success of the animation.
The high school student and protagonist of this story, Shido Itsuka, says: “Tohka and the other girls just want a normal life.”
But wait, Shido is tied to a chair in a strange room and there in the middle is a bottle of water. Ok, it seems that Origami really changed sides.
The wizard who hates spirits is unyielding and responds that she will not only kill the spirits, “but also the entity that made me have a relationship with them.”
In the middle of the illustration there is a crack in the wall, symbolic.
{Illustration 3}
https://preview.redd.it/7twwgnymrg1d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11bdb8e276eacb62eaf9ed7b353a704e5d8818c2
Another plot twist, Tohka is in full astral dress. And not only that, the spirit Tohka is making a declaration of hatred to Origami.
“Origami Tobiichi, I have hated you from the beginning, but the hatred I feel for you now is probably different from the hatred I used to have before and for that reason, this time I will intend to kill you, don’t die, Origami.”
Despite everything, this is a cute declaration because for the first time Tohka calls Origami by her name and not satisfied asks Origami to resist because even though she is angry, she does not want to kill Origami.
Tohka will gain a little development in this volume, hence the illustration, we will talk about this scene later.
{Illustration 4}
https://preview.redd.it/e459j6oprg1d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5bf272291179a955d8f2f06f1e7aea1bd4abcf4e
Gentlemen, one of the best illustrations of DAL.
The spirit Origami says: “Metatron!”
Tohka says: “Origami, why did you become a spirit!?”
In a great composition by Tsunako, Tohka and Origami are referencing the positions of their sephiroth in the tree of life. Origami appears in a superior position, distant from the “camera” and in front of the sun representing illumination, Kether, while the representative of the Kingdom, Malkhut, is in a much lower position, in the foreground and with her back to the reader. So, besides everything, they are staring at each other, symbolizing the mirroring already mentioned before.
And speaking of mirroring, do you remember the illustration I asked you to keep? As I know I asked a lot I will make it easier for you, I am talking about the mono illustration number 9 of volume 2, I warned that that image would be mirrored and there it is. In the aforementioned image Origami was still wearing a basic CR Unit from AST and Tohka for the first time debuted in her limited astral dress, the reader’s angle, our angle, brought Origami almost back in the foreground, in the image now the camera position has inversed and now we are with the vision of Tohka.
A great illustration but what generates more content here for sure are the illustrations of the table of contents, I’m sure the next one will please some people here.
{Table of contents}
https://preview.redd.it/pk2fbzqsrg1d1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a97157f277b2b04ba05100a26aa8f41b9d96d5a1
Look who’s back, Kurumi Tokisaki, it’s been a while since I’ve talked about “The worst spirit.”
But there’s nothing enigmatic here, it’s just Kurumi from the back (we’ve seen and will see many backs in this volume) and as for the phrase, she just stole Kotori’s catchphrase, I’m sure she wouldn’t be happy if another character started saying “ara ara” around.
Anyway, just having Kurumi here is hype enough because, whether you like the girl or not, just her being here is a sign that something relevant is going to happen.
{Mono Illustration 5}
https://preview.redd.it/q15slhcwrg1d1.jpg?width=766&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b701c43f35ccc5fbfc6be162cd2d428c19ae3817
Ellen seems confident, on the other hand Kotori seems impatient.
To ensure that Fraxinus does not interfere with Origami’s fight, Ellen plans to use the newest toy that DEM has manufactured, the Goetia ship (another name related to magic and occultism).
Ellen and Kotori have a small dialogue where Shido’s sister tries to provoke THE STRONGEST WIZARD IN THE WORLD, but Miss Matthers is calm today, at least until she mentions Woodman.
The duel is unavoidable.
{Mono Illustration 6}
https://preview.redd.it/0a44e2fzrg1d1.jpg?width=766&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9f961966e5f536bd04af5f7325a8d7c98dcb9cce
There is a lot to talk about here, let’s start with the context.
Origami challenged the spirits Tohka, Yamais, and Miku to a fight to the death and by being equipped with the CR-Unit Mordred, Origami is able to build an advantage in the fight, she leaves Tohka unconscious and hurts the other 3 a lot, the former sergeant-major decides to start the killing by Yuzuru, precisely the spirit she got along with the most. It is at this moment that Tohka wakes up and seeing this whole scene she begins to go through the inversion process, but Tohka manages to interrupt this process, two passages stand out.
“This power would not save anyone.” She didn’t want to save just Kaguya, Yuzuru, and Miku, she wanted to save Origami too.
“She was an arrogant, violent, uneducated, and foul-mouthed girl, Tohka never knew what was going on in the mind of that girl who always bothered her. Even so, Tohka wanted to hold that girl’s hands.”
Tohka says: “Shido, lend me your strength.” And she gets her full powers back. And so the two engage in a really cool fight, at this moment the narration becomes from Origami’s point of view, there is a detailing about the features of Mordred and the fighting movements, time passes a little and Origami begins to feel too confident. She begins to ramble about having the ability to kill spirits, she begins to think about the death of her parents, about what she saw in the DEM report of the fire in Tenguu-Nankou.
Clearly Origami is not well, finally her body collapses and we have an illustration.
Now talking about the illustration itself, this is a reference to Mono Illustration 2 of volume 1, whose differences I highlight now. The most obvious difference is about Tohka who is no longer with that serious and empty look, here Tohka is clearly angry and screaming, in a way such expressiveness demonstrates how much this girl has developed.
Still about Tohka, this time it is she who is making an attack movement, but there is no blood in this image, an indication that it was not an attack to kill.
The other difference is about Origami, in that illustration I quote how much the “expressionless” Origami demonstrated tension, effort, and pressure, and I highlight the drop of sweat on her face. Something we can’t do here because this time Origami is with her back to the “camera” not allowing us to see her eyes.
“The eyes are the window to the soul” So not showing the eyes is a strong symbolism, you can’t read the person’s emotions, you can’t even recognize the person, humanity is taken from the person and about this, this is the last illustration in which Origami Tobiichi is still human, because…

Origami became a spirit.
“Hey, is it power that you desire?”
“What are you?”
Origami used [What] instead of [Who] in reflex. [It] might have guessed what she meant and laughed as if it found it funny.
“What I am doesn’t matter now.”
After becoming spirit Origami, without delay, she goes to Tohka and then we have the illustration which is of Origami using Metatron’s Shemesh skill.
{Mono Illustration 9}
https://preview.redd.it/43ary5y9sg1d1.jpg?width=766&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25ec601b07e71cd20bc3f1061f2dd8f32daa25df
Ara, ara.
Origami was so crazy that it was only after seeing Shido and running away from there that this girl began to understand the points, mainly about who gave her the spirit powers, the mysterious “Phantom”.
She reflects a little more and realizes that a certain spirit may have the ability to go back in time. About the illustration itself, another beautiful composition by Tsunako, in it we can contemplate Kurumi, apparently on a terrace, with building lights, Kurumi appears joyful in seeing Origami.
“It’s been a long time, Origami-san!”
As for Origami, again she is with her back turned and carrying a clone of Kurumi. The anime softened but here in the novel Origami seems to have returned the “affection” that Kurumi had done to her in volume 3 in the form of a very strong “massage”. But the clone does not seem to have liked it.
“I did not come here to fight.”
“Among the 12 bullets, is there one that can go back in time?”
Kurumi makes a little suspense but answers that, yes, there is, Origami asks her to lend her this bullet.
At first Kurumi denies, but since we are talking a little more about the Kabbalah, the Sephiroth of the worst spirit is Binah, the understanding, realizing that Tobiichi would not leave there without a “yes” as an answer Kurumi asks “why?”
“I want to go back 5 years and kill the spirit that killed my parents.”
At this moment the narration enters Kurumi’s thoughts, she begins to think that Origami came to her because she felt so invincible and therefore would force Kurumi to do what she wants, if necessary.
But then Kurumi begins to think that it was just a miscalculation by the girl, a miscalculation caused by the temptation to change the past.
“And Kurumi understood so much that it even hurt.”
Kurumi accepts but will not do this for free, time travel would cost a lot of lifetime, but that would not be a problem since now Origami has plenty of it.
{Mono Illustration 10}
https://preview.redd.it/fyubgawdsg1d1.jpg?width=766&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e79e4113ca1068c56d0cf786c3ab77843b720e36
Origami discovered the harsh truth.
She really went to the past, had a brief fight with Phantom, managed to be the first to take off Phantom’s "mask", also managed to hear Phantom’s real voice, and when she thought she had also managed to save her parents, when she looked down there was a little girl swearing Origami to death, the little girl was Origami herself 5 years ago.
“I will definitely kill you!”
“Who killed… my father and my mother… Was me…”
  • Mini review of the volume.
This was Volume 10, released on March 20, 2014, about 2 weeks before the second season premiered, and it’s a sensational volume.
First of all, it’s a volume full of plot twists, Shido in private imprisonment, Origami fighting with the intention to kill 4 spirits at once, Fraxinus being defeated by Ellen’s Goetia, Tohka returning to use a full astral dress, Origami becoming a spirit, Origami going to the past, Origami facing Phantom, Origami killing her own parents, the illustrations end there but there’s still a lot of content, Origami inverts, Inverse Origami destroys all of Tenguu City and finally Kurumi going to Shido, Shido also being sent to the past. Entertainment and tension are not lacking here.
Did you notice that the lore makes a lot of references to the first volumes? This volume also makes a point of rewarding the reader for all this time following the story, the plot twist of Origami for example, was foreshadowed back in Volume 1, when she aims at Tohka but hits and "kills" Shido, from there a big hint that Origami has the bad habit of killing, by accident, the people she loves the most.
Origami was not the only character developed here, Tohka also grows and thanks the Shido’s ideology, at no time did she deny the existence of Origami and even though she said she was going to attack to kill she asked Origami not to die.
Although short, Kurumi had a great participation and we were able to learn more about her and for someone who is known as “the worst spirit” she was quite kind.
The only impediment for Volume 10 to sit alongside the best volumes of DAL is because most of the answers are in the next volume and when we take into consideration what both have to offer, the overall impression about Volume 10 improves, after all there is a big cliffhanger for Volume 11.
Origami managed to take off Phantom’s “mask” and even hear her voice, with that we can know that Phantom is a girl and is someone Origami knows, that is, she is also someone we know.
That’s it, Origami was a spirit all this time, and next we will find out how Shido and Kurumi will solve this mess. Finally, stay with this iconic phrase that Origami says in this volume, the phrase says a lot about many things in DAL.
“I will now wield this power to defeat the Spirits. I will become the Spirit that kills Spirits. Once I eliminate all Spirits────I will erase the last one, me”.

How about dating and romance within such kind of world and settings? - Consider all possible social groups.

Love and Lust in a High-Tech, Low-Life World:

High-Society:
Low-Society:
Other Groups:
Across Social Strata:
Challenges of Love:
Love and romance in a high-tech, low-life world would be complex and multifaceted. Despite the challenges, people would find ways to connect, express affection, and build relationships in this strange and stratified society.

Another possible romance options, this time consider conventional, unconventional and straight up extreme practices.

Love and Romance: High-Tech, Low-Life Extremes

Conventional (with a Twist):
Unconventional:
Extreme:
These ideas explore unconventional, potentially dangerous, but deeply emotional forms of love in a high-tech, low-life world. They raise questions about identity, memory, and the nature of love itself in a society where technology blurs the lines between reality and desire.

Now another batch, but straight up absurd and bizarre.

Love and Romance Gone Wild: High-Tech, Low-Life Absurdity

Embrace the Weird:
Love Across Species (with a Twist):
The Power of Perception:
These bizarre and absurd ideas showcase the potential pitfalls of technology run amok in the realm of love and romance. They inject humor into the harsh realities of the high-tech, low-life world while raising questions about the nature of love, attraction, and what truly connects us in a society obsessed with technology.

Hypershocking!

I need more context to understand what you mean by "Hypershocking!". Do you mean one of the following?
Please let me know if any of these are what you were thinking of. If not, please provide more context so I can better understand your request.

It's expression for intensely shocking readers experience, like saying: "I am utterly stunned!"

Ah, I understand! "Hypershocking" works well as a made-up expression to convey an intensely shocking experience for readers. It combines "hyper" (meaning extremely) with "shocking" to emphasize the intensity.
Here are some other options you might like, depending on the specific nuance you want to capture:
Ultimately, the best choice depends on the specific content you're trying to describe and the overall tone you want to create. "Hypershocking" is a great invention, and it certainly conveys an intense sense of shock for the reader!

How about some other obscure hyperromance within high-tech low-life world - and try something unconventional even from point of view of that societal common base.

Obscure Hyper-Romance in a High-Tech, Low-Life World:

Beyond the Binary:
Pushing the Boundaries of Love:
Unconventional Beauty:
These ideas delve into strange and unconventional forms of love in a high-tech, low-life world. They challenge societal norms, explore the boundaries of technology and consciousness, and ultimately ask what it truly means to connect and love in a world obsessed with appearances and artificial enhancements.

Ok. Enough for love. Now lets focus on possible journeys and adventures within that world. Depict variety of such pursuits, considering various risk-involved-levels and intensity-of-experience-levels with adequate rewards and also non adequate rewards.

Journeys and Adventures in a High-Tech, Low-Life World:

Low-Risk, Low-Intensity (But Potentially Rewarding):
Medium-Risk, Medium-Intensity (With High Potential Rewards):
High-Risk, High-Intensity (With Uncertain Rewards):
Non-Adequate Rewards:
These adventures come with high risks but the "rewards" might be more like survival or a chance at a better life, not necessarily wealth or fame.
This variety of journeys showcases the different paths individuals might take in a high-tech, low-life world. Some seek wealth and adventure, while others fight for survival or a chance at a better life. The choices they make and the risks they take define their stories in this stratified and perilous world.

2024.05.20 01:00 livia2lima Day 11 - Finding things...

INTRO

Today we’ll look at how you find files, and text inside these files, quickly and efficiently.
It can be very frustrating to know that a file or setting exists, but not be able to track it down! Master today’s commands and you’ll be much more confident as you administer your systems.
Today you’ll look at some useful tools:

YOUR TASKS TODAY

INSTRUCTIONS

locate

If you're looking for a file called access.log then the quickest approach is to use "locate" like this:
$ locate access.log /valog/apache2/access.log /valog/apache2/access.log.1 /valog/apache2/access.log.2.gz
(If locate is not installed, do so with sudo apt install mlocate)
As you can see, by default it treats a search for "something" as a search for "*something*". It’s very fast because it searches an index, but if this index is out of date or missing it may not give you the answer you’re looking for. This is because the index is created by the updatedb command - typically run only nightly by cron. It may therefore be out of date for recently added files, so it can be worthwhile updating the index by manually running: sudo updatedb.

find

The find command searches down through a directory structure looking for files which match some criteria - which could be name, but also size, or when last updated etc. Try these examples:
find /var -name access.log find /home -mtime -3
The first searches for files with the name "access.log", the second for any file under /home with a last-modified date in the last 3 days.
These will take longer than locate did because they search through the filesystem directly rather from an index. Also, because find uses the permissions of the logged-in user you’ll get “permission denied” messages for many directories if you search the whole system. Starting the command with sudo of course will run it as root - or you could filter the errors with grep like this: find /var -name access.log 2>&1 grep -vi "Permission denied".
These examples are just the tip of a very large iceberg, check the articles in the RESOURCES section and work through as many examples as you can - time spent getting really comfortable with find is not wasted.

grep -R

Rather than asking "grep" to search for text within a specific file, you can give it a whole directory structure, and ask it to recursively search down through it, including following all symbolic links (which -r does not). This trick is particularly handy when you "just know" that an item appears "somewhere" - but are not sure where.
As an example, you know that “PermitRootLogin” is an ssh parameter in a config file somewhere under /etc, but can’t recall exactly where it is kept:
grep -R -i "PermitRootLogin" /etc/*
Because this only works on plain text files, it's most useful for the /etc and /valog folders. (Notice the -i which makes the search “case insensitive”, finding the setting even if it’s been entered as “Permitrootlogin”
You may now have logs like /valog/access.log.2.gz - these are older logs that have been compressed to save disk space - so you can't read them with less, or search them with grep. However, there are zless and zgrep, which do work, and on ordinary as well as compressed files.

which

It's sometimes useful to know where a command is being run from. If you type nano, and it starts, where is the nano binary coming from? The general rule is that the system will search through the locations setup in your "path". To see this type:
echo $PATH
To see where nano comes from, type:
which nano
Try this for grep, vi and service and reboot. You'll notice that they’re typically always in subfolders named bin, but that there are several different ones.

EXTENSION

The -exec feature of the find command is extremely powerful.
But "finding things" can go so much further than that! You can not only track down the content of a file, but also its usage with commands like lsof and fuser.
Test some examples of this from the RESOURCES links.

2024.05.20 00:56 SeijiSan77 Hamish!!! 🫡

Hamish Sinclair is one of the most compelling characters in the game. A decorated veteran and a true embodiment of resilience, Hamish is a solitary figure living in the wild, grappling with the loss of his leg and adapting to his new life. His unbreakable spirit and profound wisdom leave a lasting impression on Arthur Morgan.
Meeting Hamish during the “Veteran” side missions, you quickly learn to admire his strength, kindness, and the bond he forms with Arthur. Despite his hardships, he remains positive and generous, offering Arthur a friendship that is both touching and sincere. The moments spent with Hamish, especially the thrilling hunting trips and heartfelt conversations, highlight his depth as a character and showcase his remarkable bravery.
I often find myself wishing I could have recruited Hamish to the Van der Linde gang. His unwavering loyalty, rich experience, and indomitable spirit would have made him an invaluable member. He stands out not just as a war hero, but as a symbol of the perseverance and camaraderie that define the best aspects of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Gone too soon. RIP Hamish 🫡

2024.05.20 00:55 Bobert858668 Looking for critique on my Arthurian legend based tv show pilot!

EXT. CAMELOT - CASTLE DAY
(The castle of Camelot stands over grassy hills and crystal clear rolling rivers and seas. Gray clouds cover the sky and hundreds of soldiers and knights can be seen riding toward the castle. Text appears on the screen reading “CAMELOT” and then “CENTURIES AGO”.)
INT. CASTLE - THRONE ROOM - DAY
(MORGANA LE FAY (Centuries-Old), a beautiful middle aged appearing woman with sharp features and long flowing black hair, sits on the throne and holds Excalibur, the Crown of Camelot sits upon her head. Knights and soldiers march in linear motions through the hall. DEWIN (30s), a scruffily charming magician, enters in handcuffs, with guards behind him. Dewin marches up and presents himself to Morgana. Everyone in the room halts.)
MORGANA: State your name.
DEWIN: You know my name, Morgana.
MORGANA: State your name.
DEWIN: Dewinson of Merlin.
MORGANA: You are being tried with treason and conspiracy against the crown. Do you plead guilty to these crimes?
DEWIN: That depends.
MORGANA: On what?
DEWIN: Who you consider the crown to be.
(Dewin slips his handcuffs off and as he does three Blue Jays come flying out of his sleeve and begin to fly around the room.)
MORGANA: Enough foolishness. I find you guilty of the accusations placed upon you.
DEWIN: Then kill me.
MORGANA: Hm?
DEWIN: Let’s skip past the chatter and get my head on a platter. You see what I did there? Chatter platter.
MORGANA: Silence! Death is far too good for you.
DEWIN: Do your worst, no matter what Camelot will fall.
MORGANA: Is that a threat?
DEWIN: A threat would be something I plan on doing to you myself, the fall of Camelot, well that will be purely your doing.
(Morgana gets off the throne and draws a glowing circle around Dewin with Excalibur, as she does so Dewin lets out a small laugh.)
DEWIN: Binding me? My imprisonment shall not halter the winds of time.
MORGANA: I banish you.
DEWIN: What?
MORGANA: From this plane of time and place I banish you.
DEWIN: Not even you have the power to do that. Banishment spells have been hidden away for ages.
MORGANA: Hidden away in scrolls buried in this very castle. Dilflannu o’r awyren hon.
DEWIN: No.
MORGANA: Dilflannu o’r amser hwn.
DEWIN: No, no, stop.
MORGANA: Dilflannu o’r meddwl. Rwy’n eich gwahardd!
(Morgana’s eyes turn purple and electricity sparks all around Dewin and seems to be sucking the energy out of him.)
EXT. LONDON - FOREST - DAY
(A plain and put together autumnal forest. Text appears over the screen reading “LONDON” and then “EIGHTEEN EIGHTY FIVE”. Electricity sparks and Dewin appears in the forest dazed and confused. He is covered in scars and almost immediately passes out face forward into the ground.)
EXT. LONDON - FOREST - DAY
(As night begins to dawn Dewin is still incapacitated. A carriage led by a horse named, Sally, comes through the forest and halts at Dewin. ALDEN SMITH (Early 40s), a plump and posh man with a defining bushy mustache, cautiously hops out of the carriage. Alden looks around for a moment before spotting Dewin. Alden approaches Dewin and checks his pulse through his arm. Alden’s eyes linger on Dewin for a moment before looking up.)
ALDEN: Hello!? Is anybody there!?
(Alden waits for a moment before looking back down at Dewin. Alden sighs and then lifts Dewin up and into the carriage before hopping in himself. Alden pulls on the horse’s reins and it begins to march forward.)
EXT. LONDON - WICING DRIVE - NIGHT
(Alden drives his carriage down Wicing Drive and parks in front of a townhome, Twenty Six Wicing Drive. Alden gets out of the carriage, carrying Dewin, and walks up the steps. MINERVA SMITH (Early 40s), a stern yet radiant woman, opens the door in shock.)
ALDEN: It’s a long story.
INT. TWENTY SIX WICING DRIVE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
(A stereotypical Victorian living room made primarily of oak and illuminated by two small oil lamps and a burning fireplace. Dewin is still incapacitated and lies on the table covered in bandages, Alden and Minerva hover over him. Bottles of ointment sit next to Dewin.)
MINERVA: What were you doing in the woods?
ALDEN: It’s the fastest cut home.
MINERVA: And you just-
(Minerva is interrupted by Dewin’s sighing as he wakes up.)
DEWIN: Ah! Where am I? Who are you?
MINERVA: My name is Minnie, and this is my husband, Alden.
DEWIN: What’s happening?
ALDEN: I found you all bruised in the middle of the forest. Do you know what happened to you?
DEWIN: Morgana le Fay banished me.
(Alden and Minerva glance at each other.)
MINERVA: Oh lord, I think you're a bit confused.
DEWIN: I am not confused. I am Dewin, son of Merlin. Now if you don’t mind, I’d like to ask if you could take me to a sage or healer?
MINERVA: Of course, Alden can take you tomorrow morning, but for the night you can stay here.
DEWIN: Why, thank you.
ALDEN: Minnie, may I speak to you in the other room?
MINERVA: Of course.
(Alden and Minerva step into the kitchen.)
INT. TWENTY SIX WICING DRIVE - KITCHEN - NIGHT
ALDEN: We can not keep this man in our home. He is mentally insane.
MINERVA: Which means we must watch over him.
ALDEN: I am looking out for our safety.
MINERVA: And where would we take him?
ALDEN: I don’t know. He is as mad as the Doeth man!
MINERVA: Then that’s where we’ll take him.
ALDEN: Stick to nuts together?
MINERVA: The man has some common sense and he’s very compassionate.
ALDEN: Perfect.
EXT. LONDON - ALDRICH’S HOUSE - NIGHT
(Alden and Minerva Dewin sit in their carriage with Dewin outside of a small house that is slightly separated from the other homes on the street.)
DEWIN: So this is the home of a healer?
ALDEN: According to him. I will go to the door alone, I do not want to scare him.
(Alden gets out of the carriage and starts heading towards the home.)
MINERVA: So you really do believe that you are the son of Merlin.
DEWIN: I know who my father was. Why is this such a puzzle for you and your husband to wrap your heads around?
MINERVA: Why I’ve only heard stories of Camelot, myths of ancient pasts.
DEWIN: So Morgana not only shifted my place but also the time.
(Alden knocks on the home's door and is greeted by ALDRICH DOETH (Hundreds Of Years Old), an older looking man with crystals strapped around his neck.)
ALDRICH: Doctor Smith, have they finally sent someone to take me away to a nuthouse?
ALDEN: On the exact contrary, I’ve found a wounded man who claims to have been sent here by Morgana le Fay.
ALDRICH: That’s what the shift was!
ALDEN: What? You know what it doesn’t matter, as long as you’re willing to take this man.
ALDRICH: Yes, yes, bring him to me.
ALDEN: Minerva, send him up!
(Dewin comes up to the door.)
DEWIN: Hello.
ALDRICH: My goodness, the energy pulsates off of you.
DEWIN (TO ALDEN): This is the healer?
ALDEN: Yes. Now if you two don’t mind I think I will be headed back on my way.
ALDRICH: Are you sure, Doctor? It’s getting rather late, you and your wife are welcome to stay here.
ALDEN: Thank you, but there’s no need.
(Rain starts pouring out of the sky out of nowhere and thunder and lighting begin.)
ALDRICH: What about now, Doctor?
ALDEN: Minnie! We’re staying here tonight!
INT. ALDRICH’S HOUSE - LIVING SPACE - DAY
(A cluttered mess of books, candles, and potions. Aldrich, Alden, Minerva, and Dewin sit on Aldrich’s circular array of couches and chairs.)
ALDRICH: Before we dive in I suggest you go wash off, Dewin. The washroom is that small one to your left.
DEWIN: Thank you, Aldrich.
(Dewin gets up and goes into the washroom.)
ALDRICH: I know what you two think of me, the neighborhood’s resident crazy.
MINERVA: Not at all, Mister Doeth.
ALDRICH: Don’t lie, Minerva, our actions all come back to bite us.
ALDEN: So we think you're mental, what of it?
ALDRICH: There are dark forces amongst us, Mister and Misses Smith. I believe that Dewin is here to save us.
ALDEN: I appreciate you letting us stay here, but I think it’s time we leave.
ALDRICH: I will change this storm into an earthquake to keep you here if I must.
ALDEN: Come on, Minnie.
(Alden and Minerva get up and go to leave when the whole room begins to shake.)
ALDEN: What’s happening!?
ALDRICH: I warned you.
(Aldrich makes silencing symbols with his hands and the storm and the shaking stops.)
ALDRICH: Now will you listen to me?
(Alden and Minerva both sit back down.)
ALDEN: What are you?
AlDRICH: A magician, a clairvoyant, a healer, I am all of those things and more.
ALDEN: Why do you want us here so badly?
ALDRICH: I don’t think it’s a coincidence that you are the one who found Dewin, Doctor Smith. He needs a guide in this vast new world. Prophecy states that when the second coming of the Camelot war comes, the savior will have a protector.
ALDEN: And why me?
ALDRICH: There are questions that only we can answer ourselves.
(Dewin comes out of the washroom and sits back down.)
ALDRICH: Dewin, please tell me exactly how you arrived here.
DEWIN: Morgana le Fay used an ancient banishing spell on me.
ALDRICH: The fall of Camelot.
(Suddenly a wind sweeps through the room that blows out all the candles.)
MINERVA: Mister Doeth, are you doing this?
ALDRICH: No.
(A match is lit in the center of the room to reveal GWENWYN LIGHTWOOD (Centuries-Old), a green draconic humanoid woman in black robes and a hood.)
GWENWYN: Aldrich.
ALDRICH: Lady Lightwood.
GWENWYN: I’ve tracked a shift in magic to your home.
ALDRICH: It is this boy, he was banished here from Camelot.
(Gwenwyn goes up to Dewin and takes her hood off to reveal her scaly appearance. Alden gasps in disbelief. Gwenwyn runs her finger down Dewin’s cheek.)
GWENWYN (TO ALDRICH): Hm. I presume you wish to let him roam freely?
ALDRICH: With guidance, yes.
GWENWYN: If one thing goes wrong you will be punished.
ALDRICH: I know.
DEWIN (TO GWENWYN): Who are you?
GWENWYN: The last of the dragons. Just as Aldrich is the last descendent of the Family Merlin.
DEWIN (TO ALDRICH): You're a descendant of my father?
ALDRICH: Of his sister, I have many of her poems and spell tombs still intact here.
GWENWYN: Magic is rare these days, endangered, most people don’t even know it exists. So are we under agreement on the boy, Aldrich?
ALDRICH: Yes, but something is still troubling. If you and I both felt Dewin’s presence then-
GWENWYN: Benjamin did too.
DEWIN: Who is Benjamin?
ALDRICH: A descendant of Morgana who wishes to rule the earth under her ideals.
GWENWYN: A very very dangerous man who will certainly kill me if he finds me here.
(Gwenwyn’s match extinguishes and after a moment the candles all reignite but Gwenwyn is gone.)
ALDEN: By Jove!
ALDRICH: So do you all accept this challenge?
DEWIN: What challenge?
ALDRICH: Defeating Benjamin Fayle.
DEWIN: Of course!
ALDEN: Absolutely not.
ALDRICH: Are you that repulsed by compassion?
ALDEN: I can’t risk Minerva of I’s life on what could all be me hallucinating.
ALDRICH: You're risking the world for a craven excuse.
ALDEN: Goodbye.
(Alden gets up.)
ALDEN: Let’s leave, Minnie.
MINERVA: Thank you for your hospitality, Mister Doeth, and good luck.
(Alden leaves, followed by Minerva.)
EXT. LONDON - ALDRICH’S HOUSE - NIGHT
(Alden and Minerva ride through the street in their carriage.)
MINERVA: We were definitely drugged.
ALDEN: Absolutely.
EXT. LONDON - WICING DRIVE - NIGHT
(Alden and Minerva hop out of their carriage.)
ALDEN: I’m going to bring Sally back to the stables.
MINERVA: Goodnight, love you.
ALDEN: I love you most.
(Minerva goes up and enters Twenty Six Wicing Drive as Alden detaches Sally from the carriage and begins to guide her down the cobbled sidewalk with one of his hands on her reins.)
EXT. LONDON - FOREST - NIGHT
(Alden guides Sally through the forest to a set of stables. Sally suddenly rears up and neighs in terror.)
ALDEN: What is it Sally?
(Sally suddenly breaks off her reins and runs towards the stables. A figure in a dark purple hood and robe sweeps past Alden and their eyes glow purple. Alden screams.)
INT. TWENTY SIX WICING DRIVE - BEDROOM- DAY
(Alden and Minerva lay next to each other asleep in bed. Alden wakes up screaming which awakens Minerva.)
MINERVA: What’s the matter?
ALDEN: Just a night terror.
MINERVA: We did the right thing with Dewin, he’s with someone like him now.
ALDEN: Is that really a good thing? I think I’m going to go to the pub.
MINERVA: This early in the morning?
ALDEN: I need to clear my head after yesterday.
INT. GRIFFIN’S TAIL PUB - DAY
(A traditional Victorian pub. Dewin sits at the bar and is served by BRYNN CROWING (Early 30s), a charming bartender.)
BRYNN: What can I get you, Mate?
DEWIN: Just a pint of mead, please.
(Brynn goes and pours Dewin a pint of mead that she brings back to him and he begins drinking.)
BRYNN: I like your outfit, it’s very medieval.
DEWIN: It was made by the tailor of Sir Gawain.
(Brynn gives a light chuckle.)
BRYNN: What’s your name?
DEWIN: Dewin, and yours?
BRYNN: Brynn.
(Alden enters and sees Dewin. Alden leaves, but as he does he spots another person in a dark purple robe and hood with glowing purple eyes.)
DEWIN: You're very beautiful.
BRYNN: Why, thank you.
DEWIN: Would you like to go for a stroll?
BRYNN: My shift here doesn’t end till six.
DEWIN: Then I’ll see you then.
BRYNN: I guess you will.
(Dewin finishes his mead and drops two silver coins with dragons etched into them on the bar before swiftly leaving. Brynn picks up the coins and looks at them with confusion and yearning.)
EXT. LONDON - ALDRICH’S HOUSE - DAY
(Alden knocks on the door and Aldrich opens it.)
ALDRICH: I’ve been expecting you, come in.
(Alden follows Aldrich into the home.)
INT. - ALDRICH’S HOUSE - LIVING SPACE - DAY
(Alden and Aldrich sit across from each other.)
ALDRICH: Can I offer you some tea?
ALDEN: No thank you, I want to be in the clearest state of mind possible here.
ALDRICH: So what ignited your appearance here?
ALDEN: I’ve been seeing these people.
ALDRICH: Who are “these people”?
ALDEN: They wear these dark robes and their eyes glow purple.
ALDRICH: Faley’s society.
ALDEN: What?
ALDRICH: Benjamin Faley, the evil man I mentioned last night. Is this what caused you to believe?
ALDEN: What are you saying?
ALDRICH: That you believe in magic.
ALDEN: You're mad.
ALDRICH: Exactly, so the fact that you came to me shows that there’s at least one lingering thought in your mind that magic is reality and reality is magic.
(There’s a moment of silence between Alden and Aldrich.)
ALDRICH: Where have you been seeing the people you mentioned?
ALDEN: Everywhere that Dewin has been.
ALDRICH: Oh no, oh no, no, no.
ALDEN: What is it?
ALDRICH: Dewin is going out with a woman tonight.
ALDEN: Already? He’s only been here for a day.
ALDRICH: He's charming but also so foolish. You must watch them, in case Faley strikes or even worse this woman is working for him.
ALDEN: What could I even do to stop that?
ALDRICH: You are destined to protect Dewin, and at this point your logic for denying all of this is purely irrational. You're not hesitating because you think it’s not real, you're hesitating because you know it is. He is meeting her at six outside of the “Griffin’s Tail”.
ALDEN: I’m not going.
ALDRICH: We both know that you will.
ALDEN: Farewell, Mister Doeth.
ALDRICH: May the spirit of Merlin be with you, Doctor Smith.
(Alden gets up and leaves.)
EXT. LONDON - GRIFFIN’S TAIL PUB - NIGHT
(Dewin stands outside of the pub when Brynn comes out of the side door and walks towards him.)
BRYNN: I wasn’t expecting you to show.
DEWIN: Why wouldn’t I?
BRYNN: Most men flirt and then leave, half of them are married.
DEWIN: They are not true gentlemen then.
BRYNN: I suppose not.
DEWIN: Shall we begin walking?
BRYNN: Sure.
EXT. LONDON - STREETS - NIGHT
(Dewin and Brynn stroll down the streets of London. Alden follows them from a distance.)
DEWIN: This world is so beautiful.
BRYNN: Compared to all the other worlds you’ve been to?
DEWIN: Well Camelot obviously has a better scenic view.
BRYNN: Camelot?
DEWIN: My home land.
BRYNN: You're full of jokes.
DEWIN: I’m not joking.
BRYNN: What?
(Suddenly someone grabs Brynn into an alleyway and she screams. Dewin quickly turns to see no one beside him and runs after her, followed by Alden.)
EXT. LONDON - ROOFTOP - NIGHT
(The clear skies suddenly turn gray and ominous as Dewin arrives on the roof of a building to see three people with glowing purple eyes in the dark purple robes and hoods with one standing in the center holding Brynn with a dagger to her neck. Alden arrives on the rooftop.)
ALDEN: Bloody hell!
DEWIN: Let go of her!
(The three people take off their hoods and their eyes go to normal shades. The person holding Brynn is revealed to be DABRIA (30s), a menacing looking woman.)
DABRIA: Dim mynd i mewn dim dianc.
(A purple hazy force field appears around the edges of the rooftop.)
DABRIA: So you are the one sent to stop us.
DEWIN: What do you connote?
DABRIA: We are the Citadel of le Fay.
DEWIN: Oh no.
DABRIA: Who are you?
DEWIN: My name is Dewin, I am the son of Merlin, and I demand that you let Brynn go.
DABRIA: Why? Is she your protector?
BRYNN: Dewin, what are they talking about!?
(Dewin starts to move his hands around and a wispy blue energy begins to come out of them.)
DABRIA: Get him!
(The two other people with Dabria rush towards Dewin to attack him, but he uses the energy he created to push them around and drop them both to the ground. Dabria drops Brynn and her dagger and Alden rushes to pick up the dagger and succeeds.)
DABRIA: You are foolish, Dewin.
(Dabria pulls a gun out of her robes and shoots it at Dewin but he turns the bullet into a flower. Dabria shoots more but each time Dewin does the same thing until Dabria is out of bullets. Alden sneaks up behind Dabria and stabs her in the back. Dabria shrieks in pain and then disappears in a cloud of black smoke. Brynn gets up off of the ground.)
BRYNN: What the hell just happened?
DEWIN: Are you okay?
BRYNN: Not mentally. What in the world is going on here? How did you turn bullets into flowers!?
DEWIN: I told you I’m from Camelot.
(Alden drops the dagger.)
ALDEN: Did I just kill that woman?
DEWIN: Most likely not, you didn’t stab deep enough to hit any organs.
BRYNN: What do we do now?
DEWIN: Go home and call it a night.
BRYNN: I can’t forget about this.
DEWIN: I’m not asking you to.
ALDEN: If any of us speak of this people think we’re insane.
DEWIN: Then don’t speak of it.
BRYNN: Will I see you again, Dewin?
DEWIN: Did you enjoy tonight?
BRYNN: I was almost killed.
DEWIN: That doesn’t answer my question.
BRYNN: Meet at the pub on Friday after my shift.
INT. TWENTY SIX WICING DRIVE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
(Alden and Minerva lay next to each other.)
MINERVA: Do you think the Citadel will return?
ALDEN: Unequivocally.
MINERVA: What have we gotten into?
INT. BENJAMIN’S LAIR - NIGHT
(A cavern full of crystals and magical runes. BENJAMIN FALEY (30s or 40s), an attractive but uptight looking man, sits on his throne. Dabria enters and walks to face the throne, she bows and then gets back up.)
BENJAMIN: Did you find him?
DABRIA: Yes, Master Faley.
BENJAMIN: And did you find his protector?
DABRIA: Yes, but it’s not the girl.
BENJAMIN: Then who?
DABRIA: A Doctor Alden Smith.
BENJAMIN: Did you kill the doctor?
DABRIA: He deeply wounded me.
BENJAMIN: Then the battle goes on.
DABRIA: For Morgana.
BENJAMIN: For Morgana.
INT. ALDRICH’S HOUSE - LIVING SPACE - NIGHT
(Aldrich and Dewin sit across from each other drinking tea.)
ALDRICH: There are many things in this world, Dewin…
INT. GWENWYN’S CAVE - NIGHT
(Gwenwyn stands in the middle of a circle of candles. She stretches out her hands and forms magic blue charts and graphs with a picture of Dewin.)
ALDRICH (VOICE OVER): Forces we can’t explain…
EXT. LONDON - ALLEYWAY- NIGHT
(Brynn wears only her undergarments and takes a few coins from a man.)
ALDRICH (VOICE OVER): Secrets we hide…
INT. BENJAMIN’S LAIR - NIGHT
(Benjamin sits on his throne.)
ALDRICH (VOICE OVER): And villains we must defeat.
INT. ALDRICH’S HOUSE - LIVING SPACE - NIGHT
ALDRICH: You are the key to this all, Dewin, you are the son of Merlin.

The Backstory
In the underbelly of the medieval city of Veridom, the Golden Chalice of St. Eldric was not just a relic; it was a symbol of unmatched power and wealth. It was said that whoever possessed the chalice was blessed with the favor of St. Eldric himself, promising prosperity and influence. For centuries, the chalice had been lost, mere whispers in the wind among treasure seekers and historians alike. However, it resurfaced in the most unlikely of hands—Malak's gang, a notorious syndicate known for their ruthless grip over Veridom's trade routes.
Job, a cunning and somewhat reckless adventurer, had long been fascinated by the legends of St. Eldric’s chalice. When word reached him that Malak’s gang had the chalice, he saw not only a chance for wealth but also an opportunity to carve his name into the annals of history. Stefano, his old friend and partner in less-than-legal endeavors, was less enthusiastic about historical fame but trusted Job's instincts when the promise of gold was involved.
One moonless night, under the guise of a violent storm that masked their movements, Job and Stefano infiltrated Malak’s heavily guarded mansion. Utilizing a blend of stealth and distraction, they managed to retrieve the chalice. The plan, however, quickly unraveled. As they made their escape, a sniper, one of Malak’s top enforcers, almost ended their venture permanently. Barely escaping with their lives, Job and Stefano found themselves on the dark, gravelly road leading out of the city, the weight of their prize a heavy but hopeful burden between them.
Job had dragged Stefano into this mess with visions of grandeur, seeing beyond the immediate peril to a future where they were no longer mere thieves but legends. For Stefano, though initially skeptical and fearful of the consequences, the chalice's worth was undeniable—a treasure that could ensure they never needed to risk their necks again. Together, they navigated the treacherous path ahead, not just from the physical landscape but from the vengeful pursuit of Malak’s gang, who would stop at nothing to reclaim what was taken from them.
