Fructose malabsorption [FM] is a digestive disorder of the small intestine and those diagnosed with FM are unable to process fructose as a result of deficient fructose carriers. Symptoms of fructose build-up differ from person to person and each person tolerates different things in different amounts. This is a support and knowledge-sharing subreddit for those dealing with fructose malabsorption.

2024.05.20 03:22 LovesStardust Does anyone have a similar experience with formula?

To start this off with a little backstory. Around the time our newborn hit 3 weeks old we moved her to formula because she wouldnt latch, i wasnt producing enough, she wasnt gaining weight, and it was taking a tole on my mental health. We started her on the liquid form of Similac 360 total care and after about a week we found it was more price efficient to get the powder kind. Well when we did she began spitting up a lot. While being fed and even an hour after being fed she would be laying down and spit up formula. We brought it up to her pediatrician and they first suggested keeping her upright for 20 minutes and said she was starting to gain weight which was great.
A thing to note is our girl is really good at refusing a bottle. she has been bottle fed since we left the hospital and if she isnt hungry she will not open her mouth for the bottle nor drink from it.
Her spitting up continued even after keeping her upright for 20 minutes. We continued to bring it up weekly (she was going weekly for her weight) and at one point they put her on Famotidine. Its hard to say if it worked or not but eventually it stopped working and we were right back to the same issue. So then the pediatrician put her on Similac Alimentum and she got excessively fussy and had dark green diarrhea. The only thing that would get her to calm down was being put in her swing with white noise and her paci. Even then sometimes she wouldnt calm down. It lasted maybe 4 days. So then we moved her to Enfamil Gentlease because we had a can that was given to me when i was pregnant. Within 4 hours of starting that every single bit of fussiness was gone. However, we were back to the spitting up issue and diarrhea. It just so happened that when i took her in for an appointment she had a dirty diaper and the pediatrician decided to test it for blood. They also told us to put her on enfamil nutramigen and they upped her dosage of famotidine. We were told wed be given a call if there was blood. So a week goes by and we dont hear anything. On Saturday she vomitted 3 times during a feeding and we decided to move her back to the gentlease because we hadnt heard back and it didnt seem healthy for a baby to vomit 3 times in one feeding. I call that monday about her still spitting up and she vomitted on the nutramigen and the doctor finally calls back to tell me that there was blood in her stool and to put her back on the nutramigen. Keep in mind the doctor knows at this point that she vomitted on it. They also switched her medicine to Nexium. So we put her on that again and that night her stool had went from runny dark green to clay like and greenish white. We went to the ER because that worried us plus she vomitted again. They told us to call her pediatrician the next day and get a recommendation for a gastroenterologist. We get a recommendation and i go ahead and call them instead of waiting for them to call me. The earliest appointment anywhere was june 3rd which at the time was 3 weeks out. Well the lady at the front desk went above and beyond and mentioned to the doctor about the blood and they decided they could fit her in the next day. So we go and were expecting maybe some blood tests to see what caused the blood. Nope. They asked us a few questions looked at her body and said she needed to gain more weight (at this point she has been steadily gaining weight at every single appointment) So they sent in the nutritionist told us to make the formula a different way and said we could give her the medicine twice a day instead of once. We were also told for the hundredth time that it can take up to 3 weeks for a babies body to adjust to new formula and clear out the old. After every single formula change her stools have changed within 48 hours and been consistent after that. We decided we would stick with it for those 3 weeks and if nothing changed then we were going to get answers. well her stools moved to diarrhea again, her diapers became to where they barely had any pee in them (she would fill diapers before), and she started eating less. So we went back to how the formula was before and now she is spitting up clear liquids, she vomited 2 times during a feeding, has diarrhea, and spit up a few times.
We are at our wits end with this merry go round that feels like no one is listening. i understand that there are steps to this but everything in me is telling me she has something wrong with her. whether it be an allergy we dont know about or something else. Has anyone experienced anything like this or any advice from your experience with it?

2024.05.20 02:39 darknessfish Newly diagnosed collagenous colitis with linear ulcers; worried about possible ischemia

Hi, I've recently been diagnosed with collagenous colitis after a month of urgent diarrhea 5-10x/day associated with incredibly painful stomach cramps, along with night sweats, blood in the stool a couple times, plus weight loss since I couldn't eat any food for about 2 weeks without pain. My calprotectin was 1500 so pretty inflamed I guess, as that's off the charts, right? During the colonoscopy they found two long (8-10"?) linear ulcers which my GI doctor said are hallmarks of ischemia, but I have no clue what could have precipitated such an event. I'm not an athlete or distance runner or over 70 or had surgery or other trauma which seem to be the causes of this, just a regular otherwise healthy fortysomething. I'm worried about what might have caused the ischemia. I did find with great interest a couple case studies in the literature that associated linear ulcers and collagenous colitis with lansoprazole, which is exactly the medication I'd been on the past few months for acid reflux. I shared this with my doctor but he didn't seem convinced that it was the medication vs and ischemic event (but he did want me off lansoprazole).
Has anyone ever had these ulcers and learned what caused them? And has anyone had luck treating collagenous colitis? It seems very uncommon as is and even less so with the ulcers. I'm on Cipro/Flagyl with Pepto 3x/day right now and doing ok, with only one bad crampy poop in the morning the past few days, plus some nausea on and off during the day, that I mostly attribute to the antibiotics. Worried though about why this happened in the first place and seeing many folks struggling with forms of microscopic colitis for years.

2024.05.20 01:58 OkAnybody1861 Am I still sick or is my body just recovering now?

Wednesday I woke up extremely dizzy, I had no appetite, and I was throwing up. I couldn’t do anything other than lay down in one position. If I tried to get up or change positions I’d feel nauseous and start sweating like crazy. Then Thursday I woke up still dizzy and sweating but slightly less. I didn’t throw up but I had diarrhea. Now, ever since Friday all the other symptoms went away. I’m not nauseous, I can eat and keep things down (even things you shouldn’t eat with flu like deep fried and hot sauce), and I’m not vomiting or having diarrhea, but I’m still dizzy
Today was the first day I tried to leave me house since Tuesday, and I was able to, but I was just so damn dizzy, it was like my eyes couldn’t focus on anything. My body feels perfectly fine, but my head is so foggy and loopy. Is this still flu or is it just a lingering after effect?

2024.05.20 01:50 Sea-Buy4667 What is the likelidhood of Crohns being missed on a colonoscopy/endoscopy?

Age: 30 Sex: M Height: 171cm Weight:136 lbs Race: other Duration of complaint: 7 months Location (Geographic and on body): Stomach Any existing relevant medical issues (if any): Hashimotos(not on meds), skin condition (likely dermatitis) Current medications (if any): N/A Include a photo if relevant (skin condition for example)
I have had a mystery illness over the past year with symptoms of constipation, nausea, reflux, discolored stool, shaking, ramped up nervous system, tinnitus, anhedonia. I also lost 40 lbs of weight (but I did have diet restrictions). Some symptoms would come and go (reflux) but other symptoms like constipation are constantly there. I've become severely depressed and hopeless.
I did an endoscopy/colonoscopy and it didn't show anything other than a polyp that was removed and mild chronic gastritis. GI said it's IBS and told me to go away despite my symptoms continuing.
However, I have learned from the experiences of others that the small bowel isn't properly imaged during endoscopy/colonoscopy and the entire middle part of the small bowel (jejunum) isn't seen. I also did a regular full abdomen contrast CT Scan that didn't show anything. As for blood test, my ferritin is elevated (323) but CRP(1.7) and ESR (2) seems normal. I also did a lactulose breath test that showed I had high methane and hydrogen gas
My doctors don't know what's going on and tend to eventually get rid of me. One of them told me I can't have crohns because I have constipation which is not consistent with the frequent diarrhea pattern that crohns patients have. They also told me that crohns usually shows up on CT scan with thinning of the intestine lining but I've heard some articles say that it's not that accurate for the small bowel.
Is it likely for small bowel crohns to cause more constipation rather than diarrhea when compared to crohns in the colon? Would an MRI be more useful?

2024.05.20 00:55 No_Honeydew822 Anyone else?

Tested positive May 1 and now my gastic symptoms are very bad. I am still coughing up phlegm and could’ve swallowed some during active infection. My acid reflux is terrible and i have yellowish green bms with burning abdominal pain. Still sore all over. Drinking and eating barely because my covid symptoms were more diarrhea and cough. No fever or anything. Did Covid screw up my gut microbe? Anyone else have this happen to them? If yes what happened?

2024.05.20 00:36 stvncummings Nodule found in Bowels

Finding's after CT ABD+PEL W CON:
IMPRESSION: 18 x 13 x 11 mm lobulated soft tissue nodule in the right lower quadrant small bowel mesentery. Although this most likely represents a reactive mesenteric lymph node, an early mesenteric carcinoid cannot be excluded. Lab tests to rule out carcinoid tumor, described above are suggested including urine collection for 5-H IAA measurement
FINDINGS: LOWER CHEST: No pleural effusion or pericardial effusion is identified. Lung bases are clear. ABDOMEN/PELVIS: HEPATOBILIARY: No focal hepatic lesions are demonstrated. The gallbladder appears unremarkable. There is no evidence of significant biliary dilatation.
SPLEEN AND RETROPERITONEUM:The spleen is normal in size. No focal splenic masses are demonstrated. The pancreas appears normal without evidence of mass or inflammation. No adrenal masses are demonstrated. In the distal small bowel mesentery near the ileocecal artery and vein there is a small lobulated soft tissue lesion measuring 18 mm transverse dimension with a craniocaudal dimension of 12.6 mm and an anteroposterior dimension of 10.9 mm. Differential diagnosis includes an enlarged mesenteric lymph node (most likely) or small mesenteric carcinoid (less likely) . In favor of an enlarged lymph node is the presence of other scattered mildly prominent lymph nodes in the small bowel mesentery. This does not have the appearance of mesenteric adenitis but could simply represent reactive mesenteric lymph nodes to a current gastrointestinal illness. I recommend performance of lab tests for detection of serotonin, chromogranin A and urinary 5-HIAA to exclude carcinoid or other neuroendocrine tumor. Additionally, a follow-up CT the abdomen and pelvis in 3-6 months is suggested to determine if this soft tissue lesion remains present or regresses in the interval. Spontaneous regression would indicate a benign reactive lymph node.
The inferior vena cava is unremarkable. The aorta is normal in caliber. BOWEL AND PERITONEUM: There is no evidence of abnormal bowel dilatation or bowel wall thickening. There is no evidence of significant free fluid or free intraperitoneal air. The appendix is normal. PELVIS:The bladder appears unremarkable. No pelvic masses or abnormal fluid collections are demonstrated. No pelvic or inguinal adenopathy is evident. MUSCULOSKELETAL AND EXTRA-ABDOMINAL SOFT TISSUES: Within normal limits for age.
I'm 32M (Just turned 32 yesterday actually).
I know this is a lot but it's been quite the year for me:
I had an awful bout of covid in March/April and actually had to go to the ER (had scans because my lungs, chest and ribs were killing me) - they were all clear and then a covid test came back positive. Also had awful coughing fits almost constantly for over a week.
Then in late April (around the 24th) I had a chunk of a rotted molar fall out (wasn't able to financially take care of a cavity previously), went to the dentist and was put on a round of antibiotics for infection (3x a day for 7 days) - bad fatigue /brain fog started around this time and was only recently getting a little better. Had that tooth pulled on May 3rd + and am over a few weeks in recovery at this point.
Saw doc for checkup back in January and had elevated/high blood pressure (which runs in my family). At this point I was 214lbs and eating awful everyday...I'm talking fast food, ice cream daily, junk food, no veggies, etc.
Immediately overhauled my diet (which looking back I don't think was a good idea - should have eased into things) and went from a sedentary lifestyle to eating lots of vegan options + exercising almost daily. Started drinking way more water. Dropped down to 186-189lbs in about 3 1/2 months.
Saw doc a few days ago and was down to 172lbs - give or take a few pounds (42 days after last weight check). I am now trying to course correct a little and up my calorie intake because I don't think I've been getting proper nutrition (enough protein specifically + calories per day). Still physically active.
I got the CT scan in the first place because of off and on pain I've had since Covid19 (on the opposite side of where the nodule was found mind you)
I have a family history of Crohn's disease (mom said at least 6 people) and IBS/gut issues (my mom and grandma and several aunts) - immediate family is on meds for their issues. We also all have hemorrhoids.
Also had a colonoscopy when I was 15 because of tummy issues I was having
I have no symptoms like bloody stool, vomiting, diarrhea
Except now I'm extremely anxious (diagnosed anxiety disorder) so that's for sure effecting my stomach. Also haven't slept much the past few days.
I just wanna know if anything I've experienced this year could explain this..and also a better understanding of the findings. It appears the surrounding organs and everything else is fine. I think?
Trying not to google too much. I'm making an appointment with Oncology tomorrow

2024.05.20 00:19 Brainzzz23 Do you experience different reactions to different proteins?

So I've noticed throughout the time since I've been diagnosed back in 2017 my symptoms have gotten worse and sensitivity to exposure has increased over the years. But I've noticed personally that pork products if ive been cross contaminated I get full body hives, anaphylaxis etc but usually I can mitigate it by taking Benadryl and have only had one significant scare recently.
Beef Products on the other hand result in intestinal issues, I have vomiting, diarrhea, and it would feel like my intestines were being stabbed repeatedly with a knife while it was twisted around for days.
Does anyone else have similar experience to this?

2024.05.19 23:32 michilllie My cat won't eat

Hi. My cat stopped eating her cat food and would only eat treats. So I found her food she likes and got her off the treats. I started her on Dr. Elsey's food and she loves it. She even started putting on weight, except she's had terrible diarrhea since she's started eating it. Do I need to change food again? Do you have food recommendations? Is there something I can do to help since she loves this food? She only eats dry food as wet food makes her vomit. She's a tortie and 13 years old. She's solely an indoor cat. She means the world to me and I need to help her. Thank you.

2024.05.19 23:23 Kitty-pow Vet doesn’t know what’s wrong with my cat.

My cat has red ears and a red rash on her stomach. She has also lost most of her hair on her ears. She had diarrhea for 4 days so we took her to the vet and they gave her antibiotics, which seemed to work. Then she started vomiting everyday. We took her back to the vet, they checked her stool, blood and did an x-ray and still couldn’t find anything. She’s supposed to be on steroids but because of the vomiting we had to stop giving her the medication. We’re supposed to be changing her food soon to a hydrolyzed protein to see if it helps with her stomach. Has anyone had anything like this happen to their cat. She’s only 1 year old.

2024.05.19 23:19 bigtcm 5mo sleeps great at night once she's out, but getting her to sleep (and nap) is an absolute chore

My little one has been sleeping throughout the night for a few months now (no intentional sleep training needed!), but putting her down for naps and for her bedtime is awful.
Some background: We've always needed to feed her to sleep, even for naps. We were told (and I've read) that feeding to sleep isn't great because babies can't learn to self soothe that way. But since we can see our LO flipping and turning during the night on the monitor and eventually rubbing her face and falling back asleep, we think she's fully capable of self soothing at night.
She's also always had really bad reflux. It's vastly improved, but she still vomits (and we're not talking dribbly spitup) once or twice a day (and typically when my wife is too aggressive with her burps lol). Sometimes she's pukes/gags when i just bring the bottle close to her lips. Sometimes she's looking around all curious and mindlessly sucking on her bottle and a stream of puke will come flowing out. The doctor feels bad for us, but she's still gaining weight so the doctor tells us not to stress too much about her puking.
So that brings us to the question/problem
Feeding always is preceded by some tears and crying. Always. Even during the first feed of the morning right when she wakes up, she pulls back and whines for a few seconds before eventually sucking happily on the bottle. But for every subsequent feed, and especially the one before bed, she crying and screaming when she knows she's about to eat, and we almost need to force the bottle into her mouth sometimes before she calms and sucks away voraciously. And then 75% of the way through the bottle, she'll be upset that she's not sleep yet and will cry and need to be rocked and shushed and bottle fed to sleep. Sometimes she completely loses her mind when she sees the bottle and we need to shush and calm for 5-10 minutes before she'll even be in a calm enough state to take a bottle. And occasionally she's crying while feeding. And occasionally she pukes when feeding, and that's when she really loses her shit. It's a huge process and typically takes 45 min to get her to sleep for every nap and for her bedtime.
Her day time naps are always short, and she'll wake after 30 min during the day, even with contact naps! Once she falls sleep at bedtime though, we typically won't hear her for the rest of the night.
Anyone else struggling to feed/put baby down for sleep/naps like this? Any advice for things we can try? I wonder if she's associated feeding with puking and overtired/not sleeping.

2024.05.19 23:01 yeetoskeeto420 trying to figure out symptoms ive never heard of?

tldr; i suddenly get extremely uncomfortable in my stomach (like literally my stomach organ) and mid back right behind my stomach and symptoms only go away once i gag and/or dry heave
25f
context: the first time this had happened to me was maybe within 2 months ago. i had ate supper, ill note that i was not full of food, and maybe an hour and a half to 2 hours later i started to work on doing my nails. i do not have have a desk to work at so i was kinda slouching on my bed criss-crossed. i noticed my back getting uncomfortable which is not abnormal as my spine is crooked and ive always had issues with it. within 30 minutes my stomach got really uncomfortable. ive never experienced this before so i tried to lay down, but it made things worse. eventually my mouth started watering like crazy as if im going to vomit but i have 0 nausea when this happens. i went back and forth a few times and eventually got myself to gag which turned to a dry heave, and almost instantly everything goes away and i feel better. i brush it off but kept note of it of course
the next time i remembered the same feeling, i did eat beforehand but again it was after an hour or two. roughly the same situation. i went to the bathroom and kinda fake gagged until i got a real one, and again almost immediately i felt just fine. i have never vomited from this
after spending time searching what this could be, i found nothing so went to facebook to ask others i know. my cousin commented and said she had similar things happen and it could be a form of reflux. my mother has gerd (and acid reflux?? im not sure if they are connected or two different things), my cousin said she and her mother also has reflux issues (cousin is silent and her mother is acid reflux). for the past year ive wondered if i have silent reflux but the govt took away my insurance so im not able to ask a doctor and currently my boyfriend is the only income
today it happened again, same thing except we were getting up to some business and i felt fine until a little after. i noticed the uncomfortability and eventually my mouth started to water. i got up to gag it out and now i feel fine again. does anyone know what or why this could be? it is the start of something? do i need to be concerned? thank you for anyone reading this and/or offering guidance and advice

2024.05.19 22:56 Ok-Frame-376 GERD that impacts gallbladder

It has been a tough past few weeks for me. Late last year, I started eating spicy foods. I am very spice adverse. In January, I started feeling a dull sensation (not a pain or ache) in the upper right abdomen. I thought nothing of it and continued eating spicy food, drinking pure pressed fruit juice, and all the other high acidic healthy foods. Dull sensation continued. My primary doctor ordered a hyda scan. Results showed gallbladder was release by bile at 19% instead of 35% (normal). Doctor referred me to a surgeon to discuss options.
Week before meeting with surgeon, I ended up in the ER severely nauseous after 2 days of mild diarrhea. Ultra sound, CT scan and labs say no issues including with gallbladder. ER referred me to GI director.
I met with surgeon the following week who declined to remove gallbladder since I had no other issues other than acid reflux.
Met with GI doctor the following week who tells me I have GERD and there’s nothing wrong with my gallbladder. Prescribed meds for GERD which are great and are doing the trick. Gallbladder issues are subsiding.
Anyone else experience this?

2024.05.19 22:06 plz_help_me_33 Could this be some sort of food poisoning? [35M]

35 Male, 6' 145lbs
TL;DR: can bloating and low grade fever be the only symptoms of food poisoning?
This past Thursday evening I ate a serving of lentil soup, a piece of pita bread, and a chicken shawarma wrap from my nearby middle eastern restaurant. About 4 hours later I started to feel very full, bloated and slightly nauseous. I took pepcid and gasx but it persisted throughout the night. Didn't sleep well at all all of Friday my belly felt very bloated like there was trapped gas and I had no appetite at all and wasn't able to pass gas or have BM (hence the gas pains). Over the course of the day it moved slowly down to around my belly button and by Saturday morning it was more my lower abdomen that felt bloated. I tried to make myself vomit at one point on Friday to see if that would relieve some pain but I could only dry heave. It had probably been about 20 hours at that point since I'd eaten so I guess there wasn't anything to throw up? Saturday I was able to eat a little bit throughout the day but still had bad gas pains and started to have a low grade fever around midday which lasted the rest of the day/ night. Today (Sunday) I've been able to eat about 70% or so of my normal diet but still feel a bit of gas pain in my lower abdomen and was finally able to have a normal BM and then an hour later have diarrhea. I'm just wondering if all this could be some sort of food poisoning? I'm almost positive it's not my appendix bc my right side never really hurt. Has anyone else experienced this?

History:my cat has been sick for more than a month , first diarrhea , which was diagnosed as colitis, was treated from it, but although she stopped having diarrhea, she was then lethargic, then when I thought she was ok from the lethargy and improved a lot she started to vomit, currently on hypoallergenic food, a vet concluded she had IBD but instructed Prednisone right away with just an ultrasound as proof 2 weeks ago, I did gave her a dose but didn't looked well, I'm going to do her blood work tomorrow to see if she can handle the prednisone, meanwhile she has been on hypoallergenic food since that ultrasound which has kept her from vomiting (for the most part) yesterday she vomited but I don't know if it's because she stole food from my other cats . 2 nights ago I saw her poop, brown but Im pretty sure I saw WHITE stuff In her poop, this was inside a porch of a house that is on sale , so I couldn't go in, but next day I was able to get the key to retrieve the poops, no sign of the white stuff I saw but the excrement had pieces of cockroaches on the inside and this kind of green tint around those pieces, I haven't found any "rice like" eggs but she scratches more than usual when she started getting sick, again I haven't found fleas or eggs by examining her, that,s why I'm asking if someone can shed a light on what parasite (if there is any) it could be. Or if by the pictures you notice anything worth examining .I also uploaded the ultrasound in case you want to look at it and have a second opinion, or the same opinion as the vet did
Duration: 1 month 4 days by now.
Your general location: mexico

Please help me I don't want my cat to develop cancer or something incurable because we haven't found a clear diagnosis

2024.05.19 21:51 TTC40 Adenovirus

Ugh..so my 2.5 YO started part time day care recently..not even two weeks in and she falls ill. Diarrhea like I’ve never seen, plus vomiting.
Thankfully, no fever….and if you didn’t know she was sick, you’d have no idea. Chipper, happy, not lethargic by any means. They tested her stool and it came back positive for adenovirus.
But the diarrhea….my God…I have gone through desitin and diapers like I am FN Octomom. I cannot wait until the distinct smell of “sick poop” is a distant memory. She is puking occasionally but I find this cleanup mild compared to five diarrhea diapers in an hour.
I am hoping her previously sheltered immune system is just getting a drastic “break-in”…because I’m not seeing the point of day care if I can’t Fn work due to illness and caretaking
About to go do the third round of laundry today……thankfully as of now I just have a sore throat…but time will tell 🥺

2024.05.19 21:49 Sad-Environment-2392 Will my baby grow out this? I really need reassurance

My baby is 11 months old. He was born at 38 weeks. Starting at 1 week old he developed profuse watery mucous poop, reflux, bad diaper rash. He was breast fed. At that point I was quick to take dairy, eggs, and soy out of my diet. He got mostly better, and has been gaining weight fine. At about 3 months dairy krept into my diet and he developed blood in his poop (the mucous never actually cleared up) so we switch to a hypoallergenic formula (similac)…blood never cleared after about 2 weeks and symptoms worsened (reflux, rashes) so we went to an elemental formula….he did great. Mucous cleared up, rashes cleared up, and reflux improved.
Fast forward to now at 11 months. We purée his foods. Still on elemental formula. He eats but he’s not interested in eating. He gags on anything that isn’t pretty soft s/a raspberries, and bananas…and he still gags on those sometimes. He can eat about 12 foods that he doesn’t react to. Otherwise his reactions to foods can be vomiting, mucous poops, eczema, reflux. He reacts to dairy, egg, wheat, peas, shrimp, maybe chicken, beef and fish. He’s been on omeprazole since about 2 months old.
We have appts with peds GI and peds allergy pending. Someone please tell me you’ve seen this before in practice and the kid grew out of it. I’m so worried this might be eoe and/or eoc.

2024.05.19 21:31 Homeless_womanInNeed When are cymbalta side effects considered an emergency URGENT

I’ve been suffering incredible nausea/vomiting and diarrhea/constipation since 3 days ago I’ve started 7 days ago and I feel like I’m dying, my chest hurts and I can’t stand it. I don’t have health insurance (USA) and I don’t want to owe any more money to my local hospital by going to the emergency room.

2024.05.19 21:06 Unlikely-Audience191 severe diarrhea in lake atitlan

hello! i have been in guatemala with my boyfriend for about a week now. we started in antigua and on friday did an overnight hike of acatenango. now we are in san marcos la laguna. i believe that the food provided by the hiking tour company may have gotten me sick. i have had nonstop diarrhea for almost 24 hours, with significant stomach aches and vomiting. i have no appetite and i feel absolutely horrible. i have taken some imodium and azithromycin and zofran but it isn’t getting better. i am wondering if anyone can recommend english speaking doctors in the area? neither my boyfriend nor i speak spanish. i feel truly horrible and i would really appreciate any advice!

2024.05.19 20:00 HaitianPriestess I’ve just been told I have Gallbladder SLUDGE 😭 anyone have this how did things turn out?

I just left the emergency room complaining of nausea, yellow watery and smelly diarrhea, pack pain between my shoulder blades, burping, bloating and shortness of breath. This has been an ongoing battle for 5 months now it seems symptoms are progressively getting worse. I was told I have reflux but this all happened so suddenly. I also believe PPIs made things even worse. I’ve been losing weight and having loss of appetite. Last night I woke up in sheer panic had to diarrhea ASAP and felt relief after but incredibly nauseous.
Anyone here can relate to these symptoms and if so what was the outcome? Did you have to have your gallbladder removed?
