2024.06.02 16:59 Ok_Knowledge_2941 Vacation read for UK trip

I have a vacation coming up soon and would love a suggestion for a book set in the UK. I’m looking for something that is absorbing and well written while avoiding anything too dark or grim. Extra points for something that’s easy to dip in and out of as we are waiting on trains, etc. I’m open to different genres. Here are some examples of books I’ve enjoyed that meet these criteria.
All Creatures Great and Small The House on the Cerulean Sea The Rose Code Dear Mrs. Bird The Midnight Library Bridget Jones’s Diary Good Omens
Thanks in advance! I just discovered this sub and it seems like a miracle!

2024.06.02 16:58 doglover2254 Wrapping Up Your Project Report: A Powerful Conclusion

Wrapping Up Your Project Report: A Powerful Conclusion
The conclusion of your project report serves a crucial purpose. It's your chance to summarize key findings, reiterate the project's significance, and potentially suggest future directions. Here's how to craft a compelling conclusion, along with its ideal length:
https://preview.redd.it/zvnkbgofa64d1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=d11c46013dc3acbc72d05299f089526af3e10778
Structure and Content (150 words):
  1. Restate the Problem/Objective: Briefly remind the reader of the project's main goal or the problem it addressed.
  2. Summarize Key Findings: Highlight the most important results or insights uncovered through your research or project implementation.
  3. Reiterate Significance: Emphasize the project's value and how it contributes to the field or addresses the initial problem.
  4. Future Considerations (Optional): If appropriate, suggest areas for further research, potential applications of your findings, or next steps for project development.
Length and Tone (75 words):
  • Aim for Conciseness: The conclusion should typically be 10-15% of your total report length. For a 20-page report, that translates to roughly 2-3 pages.
  • Maintain a Confident Tone: Express your findings with conviction, highlighting the project's overall success.
  • Leave a Lasting Impression: End with a clear and concise statement that summarizes the project's impact and resonates with the reader.
Example Conclusion (75 words):
"This project successfully identified key factors influencing customer satisfaction in the retail industry (restating problem). Through a comprehensive survey and analysis, we found that personalization and efficient service delivery have the most significant impact (summarize findings). These insights empower businesses to prioritize customer-centric strategies, ultimately leading to increased customer loyalty and revenue growth (reiterate significance). Further research could explore the effectiveness of specific personalization techniques across different customer segments (future considerations)."
By following these guidelines, you can craft a compelling conclusion that effectively wraps up your project report and leaves a lasting impression on your audience.

2024.06.02 16:58 ObviousUsual9038 New greys - want to bleach

Hi everyone!
I have a lot of new grey/white hairs growing in. For example, I have about an inch of grey hair at the roots, while the rest of my hair is brown (my natural color). Instead of dyeing my roots every month, which often doesn't work well because my greys are very resistant to color (both in the salon and at home), I'm considering a different approach. I'm thinking of picking out the specific hairs that are growing in grey and bleaching the non-grey parts. This way, those hairs will be all white or blonde, essentially speeding up the process of growing out the greys.
I've bleached my hair at home before without any problems, and I plan to start with a couple of test hairs first to be safe.
I'm not exactly sure how to dye the grey parts, but many of my greys grow in more white than silver.
I've tried the salon method of getting highlights to blend the greys, but I don't have the money or time to keep doing that.
My goals/delusional ideas: - I don't like my natural hair color. - I don't like using permanent box color because if it turns out badly, I'm stuck with it and it looks flat and one-dimensional. So, I would prefer to use a semi-permanent or demi-permanent dye, or even just a color conditioning mask. - From dyeing my roots, I've noticed that my stubborn greys appear lighter than the non-greys after dyeing, almost like highlights, but not as noticeable.
Would this method work? Has anyone tried this before?
Thanks for your help!

2024.06.02 16:57 JealousQuiet2503 WORST MAKE UP EXPERIENCE (CEBU)

this is going to be a long post about what happened during our pinning/graduation ceremony. this might come off as OA but we just really wanted to feel beautiful on our big day :( there’s a summary of our complaints if u scroll down too hahaha
EVENT: nursing pinning (8:30 AM) and graduation (2:00 PM) (same day)
PRICE: ₱3000 each for 7 heads (initial agreement was ₱2500 before i mentioned the change hair and retouch for graduation)
INCLUSIONS: hair (low bun only) and make up for pinning, change hair (for toga cap) and retouch for graduation
(i will be using the pronouns they/theithem)
WHAT WE EXPECTED: we booked the main “PROFESSIONAL” MUA who had a big following and is famous in Cebu because we liked the make up style that was on their instagram page + the price fit our budget — so we expected main MUA to do the make up on all of us (station2 nga system) kay siya man among gi book, dili ang usa ka MUA na gidala niya nga completely different make up style.
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED: the 2 MUAS (main and extra) did our make up separately. they had completely different styles. NO SKIN PREP except the evian that they sprayed and wiped off with tissue. i was one of the girls who had my makeup done with the extra MUA. i was not happy with my makeup. they used high end make up, with luxury brands like dior, fenty, bobbi brown, and mac. but it did not look nor feel expensive at all. YELLOW KAY AMONG NAWNG.
WHY DIDNT YOU TELL THE MUA? the energy in the room was not giving. it didn’t feel like a safe space for us to voice out how we felt about our make up. MURA MIG WALAY RIGHT MO SULTI SA AMONG NA FEEL KAY MALDITA KAAYO SILA. KONTRA GUSTO KAAYO. the vibes were super negative — they were lowkey arguing/telling each other off nga dili mag tapol2, magpa dungog2 na “siyay ni buhat sa tanan”, right in front of us.
TLDR
LATE - we agreed for them to ARRIVE at 5AM, but they messaged at 4:54 AM saying theyre otw and ARRIVED AT 5:30+AM
HUGAWAN - after they left, we saw so much USED tissues, disposable lipstick applicators, etc ON THE FLOOR when there were 2 trash cans - hugaw ang brushes. they obviously do not clean/use different sets for each client. - WALA NANG FLUSH SA CR. kusog ra gyud ang tubig. PUNO ANG BOWL UG IHI when my friend came back to the room after pinning.
UNPROFESSIONAL - they kept arguing/telling each other off in front of us - days before the event, I asked main MUA how many people are part of the team so we can project our expenses on food and etc. main MUA said 4. on the day, 2 did our make up, 2 did our hair. however, there was 1 more person who was just lounging around. lain sad kaayo ug dili namo palitan ug pagkaon ang usa. - NAG SIGE UG PADUNGOG2 NGA NAG DALI SILA. when almost everyone were “retouched” na for grad, nag unhanay sila ug naog para ma klaro nga nag dali sila. sigeg padungog2: “asa naman tong usa?” “pila nalay wala?” “aw napa juy usa wa ma retouch? asa naman?”
TAPOLAN - giingnan amo miga (after pinning) na "fresh paman ka dai, di nalang sa ka hilabtan" - we paid extra for retouch sa make up and for them to fix our hair. DRY KAAYO AMONG BUHOK. mura mig ga DIY ug kulot. kung inato raman diay ang hair maypa wa nalang mi nagpa retouch. - wala mi tabangi ug pwesto sa among graduation cap. we had to put it on ourselves because they were RUSHING TO LEAVE WHEN IT WAS ONLY 12:30 PM. gaslighted us, saying “inani lng ni ha, naa bitay cap”
NAWAGTANG AMONG BOX OF HAIR PINS - it was very cheap, 80 pesos for a box. we don’t care about how much we paid. BUT THE MERE FACT THAT THEY BROUGHT IT WITH THEM??????
i never want others to experience this especially on such an important event. may nalang nadala ra sa natural nga kagwapa haha

2024.06.02 16:57 DimMakracy NATO Parliamentary Assembly Baldwin Report on Dual Use Technologies

I recently found a link to a report released by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly on dual use technology transfer, from this past Spring. Here is the link, scroll below and there is a pdf version of the report.
https://www.nato-pa.int/document/2024-dual-use-technologies-report-baldwin-051-esc
Right away, the author describes conditions in which technology developed by the commercial sector influences applications in the military sphere as opposed to the technologies developed via the military that can trickle to the commercial sector. Once again, China and Russia use this to their advantage. The report therefore suggests utilizing stronger export controls and programs for further innovation to safeguard our technology and keep an edge over adversaries.
One driver behind this trend is the development of digital technologies originally intended for civilian purposes that later find a weaponized role in various circumstances, examples include cell phones and drones for instance, and this has lead to an overlap between what the commercial sector is developing and what defense agencies like the DOD see as vital priorities for innovation. The report also highlights the role of universities in technology development and that similar to the commercial sector is also a potential vector of technology proliferation.
Because of the vulnerability in both commercial and academic sectors, it is urged to strengthen the enforcement of export controls and information sharing. It is not that regulatory laws and mechanisms don't already exist, many are referenced in the report, but some are outdated or otherwise are not as effective as they could be and its more the enforcement of these regulations that are lacking. Adversaries like Russia and China typically find loopholes are alternative sources if they are denied access to a provider, and its also recommended that better tracking, including through devices, is utilized to keep track of what may end up in adversarial hands.
Because of the various interests among NATO allies, there is a delicate balance between the economic interests and security concerns between parties but that there needs to be a closer cooperation between the commercial sector and various governments and agencies in order to mitigate the security risks.
There are areas that are more concerning that others, including AI development, semiconductor production, aerospace technology, that are very commercially driven but can be vulnerable to exploitation by China. There are also signs that while China is becoming more capable of developing advanced technology indigenously, they still look to the West for sources of further development.
It's not a very long read, and it's worth reading for a more up to date perspective on the topic.

2024.06.02 16:54 kayakero How to use MOVING AVERAGES in trading?

How to use MOVING AVERAGES in trading?

What are moving averages in trading?

Moving averages are averages of a certain value, which are adjusted according to the market. That is, an average of x number of time intervals, over a given value.
It can be a 10-day or 10-minute average, for example, of the price of a financial asset.
So, if we ask ourselves what a moving average is in trading, we can say that:
For example, if we are using daily candles , a moving average of 30 will represent the average of the asset's price for the last 30 days.
And this average is going to move forward, as it progresses in time. That's why it is called a moving average.
Today, the 30-day moving average will show you an average of the price of the previous 30 days, not counting today.
Tomorrow, it will show you an average of the last 29 days plus the sum of today's average (29+1=30).
And usually the price taken for each candle or time frame is the closing price.
If we are using daily candles, and we place a 30-day moving average, the average will be made between the closing prices of those 30 days.
We are going to see it much clearer with an example.

Simple moving average example

Let's do an example of a simple moving average to understand it better.
Suppose we have these closing price data for each day for a share of company ABC:
Day 1: $10
Day 2: $11
Day 3: $13
Day 4: $11
Day 5: $12
Day 6: $14
Day 7: $15
Day 8: $14
Day 9: $13
Day 10: $16
That is, on day 1, one share of ABC was worth $10 at the market close of that day. On day 2, the price of one ABC share closed at $11.
And so on until we reach day 10.
So, if we wanted to calculate the 5-day moving average (MA5) for ABC stock, we would do the following calculation:
So: we can calculate the 5-day moving average at the close of the 5th day , and it has a value of 11.4. It will be 0.6 below the 5th day price ($12)
And so we are going to run the average forward for the following days.
At the close of the 10th, we will be able to calculate the moving average of the last 5 days at $14.4.
However, the trading platform will do this calculation for us automatically, and it will show us a graph like the following:
The blue line represents the 100-day moving average, and the red line shows the 200-day moving average.

What are the most used moving averages?

When we analyze a moving average or average, we can do so over different time periods.
That is, both on the chart and in the spreadsheet, the time of a moving average is chosen by the trader.
Depending on the type of analysis you want to perform.
Thus, we can use moving averages from 1 time interval onwards .
If we are using daily candles and apply an average of 10, we will see a 10-day closing average.
If we change the chart to candlesticks or 1-hour intervals, the average will adapt to this time period.
Instead of being a 10-day moving average, it will become a 10-hour moving average.
And so we change socks, or superimpose the ones we want.
However, there are some time frames that are most commonly used by analysts and traders.
Let's see what they are.

Moving average of 200

We start with probably the most well-known and used moving average.
This is an average of 200 time intervals and is generally applied to daily candlesticks.
However, it can also be applied to longer or shorter candles.
For very long term charts, the 200 month moving average is a very good indicator.
If you are going to carry out position trading or investments for more than a year, take this average into account.

We start with probably the most well-known and used moving average.
This is an average of 200 time intervals and is generally applied to daily candlesticks.

Moving average of 50 periods
The 50 moving average is as well known as the 200 moving average because they go hand in hand.
Although it represents a much shorter time interval, the combination of the 50 and 200 day moving averages is ideal for the long term.
And they are widely used to analyze actions on the stock market.
It can also be applied to shorter time intervals to carry out strategies with moving averages for swing trading.
Keep it in mind for medium and long-term charts.
Moving averages for cryptocurrencies: 100 and 7
No moving average is specific to any given market or asset.
However, there are tendencies in some markets to react better to certain measures than others.
In the case of the crypto market, the moving average of 100 for the long and medium term is very useful.
Typically applied to 1 day or 4 hour time frames, the 100 average shows very good synergy with digital currency movements.
Among the short-term moving averages, the 7 moving average is the most prominent in this case.
Although it tends to be quite close to the chart, it works very well for short trading positions. Both rising and falling prices.
Moving averages for loer time frames: 20, 9 and 4
Just as there are moving averages for long-term charts, there are averages for short-term and very short-term charts.
In this case, we have 3 socks that adapt very well to any time interval.
And they are very useful for trading in short periods of time. These are the averages of 20, 9 and 4 periods.
If you are looking for, for example, moving averages for scalping, these are good options to consider.
They work very well combined.
Applying the 3 averages to the price chart and using the average crossing that we will see later.
These three moving averages are presented by John J. Murphy in the book “Technical Analysis of Financial Markets”.

When and what moving averages to use?

If you're looking for a short and specific answer, keep this in mind:
If you are going to do short-term trading , opening and closing positions in days or weeks, use between 2 and 3 short to medium-term moving averages.
For example, apply the 4, 9, and 20 moving averages to a 4-hour candlestick chart.
To have a better vision of the market.
On the other hand, if you are going to carry out position trading or long-term investments , apply the 200 and 50 day moving averages. You can even also apply the 100-day moving average.
It is always better to use between 2 and 3 moving averages.
To better understand the price direction.
Applying more than 3 averages could make a lot of noise (very busy graph) in the analysis, and will not give you a very clear strategy.
And using just a moving average may not be enough to make a buy or sell decision.

Trading strategy with moving averages

Now I am going to show you a practical way to apply moving averages.
A very simple but effective trading strategy.
Only using moving averages on a price chart. Which can be applied to any market, such as stocks, forex, cryptocurrencies, etc.
This is the crossing of moving averages.
Applying two or three averages of different duration to each other, to the same price chart.

Moving average crossovers: Golden Cross and Death Cross

When we apply more than one moving average to the chart, with different durations (for example, 5 and 10 candles), we see that there are times when these moving averages intersect.
In fact, the strategy we saw above is based on these moving average crossovers.
And we can identify them with the following names:
  • Golden Cross
  • Death Cross
To explain, let's assume that we have a price chart with two moving averages : a longer one of 200 days, and a shorter one of 50 days.
When the shorter moving average (50 days) is above the longer moving average (200 days), the general price trend will be bullish.
If, on the other hand, the 200-day moving average is above the 50-day moving average, the trend will be bearish.
When the 50-day moving average goes from being below the 200 average to being above it, a Golden Cross occurs .
The alcist cruce.
This represents a bullish signal for the price chart, and prices are expected to continue higher after this crossover.
On the contrary, when the average of 50 goes from being above that of 200 to being below it, a bearish crossover or Death Cross occurs.
And prices are expected to start a downtrend after this.

The 10% difference with the moving average

A simpler strategy with moving averages is the 10% split.
For this strategy we will only need a moving average, which is not very short.
The ideal would be to use moving averages of 50 intervals or more (50, 100, 150, 200, etc.).
In this case, we will only buy or sell when the price departs more than 10% from the moving average.
That is, if the price is more than 10% below the average, it will be a bullish signal. And, therefore, we buy.
And when the price rises more than 10% above the average, we sell.
It is a useful and simple strategy, but it will be better if it is complemented with other technical indicators.

Moving averages and RSI for a better result

An extra that we can add to our strategy with moving averages: consult the RSI.
We are not going to detail in this post how the RSI works, because it would become very extensive.
But we can say that it is a very good complement for the study of trends.
And, since moving averages are based on trends, they go very well with the RSI.
Basically, what we are going to do is check the RSI before buying or selling as indicated by the moving averages.
For example, if the average crossover indicates a buy, but the RSI is very high, we do not load any orders.
The same if the averages indicate selling, but the RSI is very low, anticipating a possible rebound.
But, when both indicators give us the same signals (buy or sell), then we are going to operate.
Of course, we will do less trading operations.
But we will have more fundamentals when making a purchase or sale.

So what are some of your favourite Indian literature or shows/series. It doesn't have to be only books you can mention articles and even research paper. Link them below let's share whatever queer media we are aware of.
I want everyone to read "Less Than Gay: A Citizens' Report on the Status of Homosexuality in India" released during 1991 surprisingly ahead of it's time and deconstruct common queerphobic topic points and has stories queer folks during that time.

2024.06.02 16:48 Feeling-Pattern2684 Pet loss isn't right. My cat's death is existential crisis.

Does any one love Haruki Murakami's writing? He influenced me profoundly when I was in my early 20ies. In his short stories, essays, and novels, cats often show up and I found my interests in cats that way. I was more of a dog girl before then.
Then I became a grown up and I gravitated towards non-fictions vs. fictions. In my thirties, I used to love watching nature documentaries and lectures about universe and life. Read many books on astrophysics, biology, religions as study, philosophy, etc. as novice. As I learned more about the nature of life, I always thought I became more level-headed about the importance of myself, my existence, and death.
But the death of my cat throws me off the balance. I want to find that soft side in me again when I used to read Haruki's essay on cats and felt happy. I want to believe that my existence has a meaning so that my cat's 18-year life spent with me doesn't become nothing. I want his soul to visit me and tell me that he's in peace.
I'm on the day five today. I sob less and less. But everyday something different hits me. I couldn't clean up the litter boxes and realized there are only tracks he made, but there is no urine or stool. Did his cancer mass blocked his urethra or his belly and bladder were empty because he didn't eat anything for two days. The ER nurse told me to bring his favorite food and blanket. I thought no, I need to get him there ASAP, there's no time for that. I'll give him plenty of treats when we pass this. But no, I did not have that chance. I want to punch myself that I sent him away on his empty stomach.
Miss you my little guy.

2024.06.02 16:47 agape5165153 Christianity is Objectively True

Christianity is Objectively True
Christianity isn’t based on any abstract belief system. It’s based entirely on historical events which took place. If Jesus existed, did mighty miracles, was crucified, and rose again on the third day in glory, this would mean His message is one of truth and authority. If someone came with the power to override the laws of nature you would believe what they tell you regarding how the universe works. So the question is did these events really take place or is it just some fairytale?
The first thing to do would be to examine the documents in question. The primary documents proposed comprise of the New Testament, which consist of the four gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (the first 3 were written before 70 AD, John was written around 70 AD). Then there is Acts (early church history), the epistles (letters detailing instruction to early churches), and revelation (a book of prophecy).
The first 4 gospels are all written with the express purpose of being eyewitness accounts, written either by direct apostles of Christ or those who knew the apostles. All four of these are what you generally would expect with these sorts of accounts. There are slight contradictions (as expected), however they all combine together to create the same detailed message. At the same time they consistently get an impressive amount of historical and geographical details correct for the time, showing they were written early as they wouldn’t have been able to google the info. Conveniently, they get so many details right that the gospel accounts fit into history like a jigsaw puzzle piece. What this tells us is that the writers were concerned with the utmost accuracy in their recording of events. Sources outside the bible exist commenting on early Christianity, and none of them deny that Christ existed. Rather than deny He did any miracles (as the evidence was overwhelming) they instead only slandered Him (ref. the Talmud, Julian the Apostate). Rather than present His dead body, they falsely claim His disciples stole it.
If we check other historical sources such as Josephus, we can fill in omissions of information in stories reported by the gospel. Matthew’s gospel writes that Joseph was afraid to return somewhere because of Archeleus. We know from other writings outside the bible that Archeleus existed and was very bloodthirsty. This is just one example out of many.
The writers of the gospels also were thoroughly convinced that they had witnessed and interacted with the Risen Christ, as their lives show they spent the rest of their days going and preaching the gospel to the Jews and foreign nations. They would often be beat up, flogged and punished severely for this, which would make no sense at all if they were making it all up. It would have been easier for them to just remain in their ordinary lives, with their families, rather than be ousted from their home country for being “criminals”. At the very least some of them died for their confession. They cared very deeply about accuracy (as referenced before), but now we can see they were thoroughly convinced of their experience. Their writings are not that of mad people, since mad people rarely ever work together for long periods of time. Yet we see complex philosophical concepts in the New Testament which would be impossible for mentally insane people to make. This demonstrates the absurdity of claiming they stole His body.
Aside from personal miracles I’ve experienced (you can see my testimony on my profile), the God of the bible actually challenged every so-called god to do what only He has ever done. That is, to foretell the future with incredible accuracy. He said of Himself that He reveals the end from the beginning.
Firstly, is Christ Himself. During His time on earth in Israel, as part of the Old Covenant, they required a temple in order to fulfil the ceremonial law. This temple was absolutely huge and very beautiful. The gates were so large that they required 20 men to open and close, and at night they were bolted with iron. Christ foretold of its destruction, saying:
Luke 21:5-6 5 Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said, 6 “These things which you see—the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down.”
Luke 21:20-24 20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. 22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
And we know from history, approximately 40 years after the crucifixion of Christ, the second temple was totally destroyed by the Romans, who killed many of the Jews with the sword, taking them captive into their own nations.
Historians such as Josephus (a Jew who fought for Rome during this siege), and Tacitus (a pagan Roman govenor), and the Talmud all wrote of this event which took place. All of these sources state that miraculous omens took place in the second temple before its destruction, such as the gates of the temple (which require 20 people to open and close), opening by themselves at night, voices telling things to people in the temple, amongst other things. What is striking is the Talmud (which is a collection of Jewish rabbinic writings) says that these signs appeared after 30 AD (matching the crucifixion of Christ). The Talmud also mentioned how each year the Jews would celebrate the day of atonement, in which a scapegoat would be sacrificed for the sins of the nations would lead to a crimson thread miraculously turning white, showing the sins of the nation had been forgiven. After around 30 AD this never happened again, which fulfils what the prophet Jeremiah foretold, saying God would create a new covenant.
Christ has been written of many many many years before He was even born. Psalm 22, is quoted by Jesus when He is on the cross, saying “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”. If one then turns to it, and reads through it, we can see crucifixion being described. It was written by King David around 1000 BC, whereas the earliest records we have of crucifixion is 600 BC. King David was never crucified in his life. And yet, halfway through the psalm it begins to speak of all the foreign nations turning to worship the God of the Jews, which has come to pass after His crucifixion. The chances of this actually taking place are very small, yet it has happened, defying all odds.
Isaiah 52 and 53 prophesy Christ dying for the sins of the world, and rising again, justifying many in very strong detail. To quote a small section of it: He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows well acquainted with grief. We hid, as it were, our faces from Him. He is despised and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows. Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him and by His stripes we are healed.
Genesis 22 shows the LORD, who had just promised Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars of the sky, then commands him to slay his son, Isaac. Therefore Abraham reasoned within himself that Isaac would be raised from the dead, as God could not fail to fulfil His promise. Isaac carried the wood up the mountain, just as Christ carried His cross. Abraham was very old at this stage, so Isaac could have easily resisted him and fled, yet it seems he wilfully gave his life, fearing God, just as Christ did the same. And then the place was called "the LORD will provide", after the event.
Daniel 7 shows that the Exalted Messiah, the Son of Man would come with clouds. Christ gave Himself the title. Interestingly the Son of Man is to receive worship from all nations. The Aramaic word used is pelakh which is used exclusively of deities. This gives the Son of Man the status of God, being distinct from the Ancient of Days.
God even foretold the destruction of Tyre (which used to be a trade hub for the whole world) in really really strong detail.
I could give more examples, but suffice to say. I’ve looked at a lot of the criticism the bible gets, and it still stands. So with all this being said, even though I am 100% sure He is real, good and Lord of all (cos I know Him), to an outsider there is compelling evidence that the Messiah of the Jews and Saviour of the world is Jesus Christ.

2024.06.02 16:45 Chamaellow I (21f) have feelings for my friend (20m) but I have a boyfriend. How to maintain my relationship with these two People?

Hello,
I've been feeling tormented for the past few months. I have no one to talk to about this issue, as it involves the only two people I'm close with, so I'd really like to get an outside perspective.
I've been in a relationship with my boyfriend (22m) for almost two years now. Things are going well at the moment. We've had some problems in the past, which we managed to more or less resolve through communication, including a major one: a year ago, I crossed some boundaries concerning fidelity. I was lacking a lot of affection in my relationship at the time (we were having frequent arguments due to his lack of effort), and I met a guy at a party who I found very attractive. He started flirting with me, and I let myself enjoy the attention while setting boundaries when he wanted me to be explicit about my attraction (for example, I avoided his invitations to meet up or when he asked me for a kiss). I felt very guilty afterward, cut off contact with the other guy, and told my boyfriend what had happened two or three months later. He forgave me, but now he has a lot of concerns whenever I talk to a guy, which I completely understand.
After that, our relationship was pretty calm. I stopped going out with friends as much—it was mostly just acquaintances from university—so my life revolved around my studies, my hobbies, and my boyfriend. But towards the end of 2023, a new guy joined my program at university. I was the first person to welcome him as he seemed lost. Our interactions were limited to greeting each other in class until Valentine's Day, when I was sitting alone at university, and he came over to join me. He started getting to know me, asking about my hobbies, and suggested we hang out together outside of classes. I was really happy because I missed going out with friends.
The next day, we started sitting next to each other in class, and we got to know each other better. He asked me a lot of questions about my life, my interests, the music I listen to, the books I read, etc. I was thrilled to share these things with someone since few people are interested in these topics when I try to talk about them. But what struck me the most was what he had to say—he has a fascinating world of his own, he's very elegant and romantic, and he has very refined tastes. We had a lot in common, too; we're both passionate about rock music, we both left a science prep school for university for the same reasons, and we're both highly gifted (so we share the same challenges). I started developing feelings as we talked—he's really the type of person I like. I also told him about my love life with my boyfriend, and he told me he was in a relationship too, so I didn't think it was mutual at the time. (Another detail: our respective partners know each other and were friends in high school, which was a funny coincidence for us. Both are studying abroad, so we're in long-distance relationships.)
However, I was very surprised when he asked for my Instagram account that day. He handed me his phone to look up my account, and I saw that his search history was filled with accounts with my name (there must have been about twenty). I didn't say anything but started to wonder if he liked me. I told my boyfriend about this encounter with the guy (omitting the fact that I liked him because I had no intention of crossing any boundaries this time—I wanted to keep it to a friendship, hoping my feelings would fade over time). My boyfriend immediately concluded that the guy was interested in me based on his Instagram searches, the fact that he suggested hanging out together during our first conversation, all his questions about my interests, etc. So, he's very wary of this guy. He said he would tell the guy's girlfriend if he found out he was cheating with me.
For my part, I wanted to check if he was really interested in me or not because I didn't want to ruin a potentially great friendship based on possibly false assumptions. This guy and I have grown very close. We often eat together, go out just the two of us outside of classes, help each other with homework and studying, share a lot about our lives, and do sports together. He's very attentive to me (for example, once I told him I liked a certain kind of compote, and the following days, he started bringing two of them—one for him and one for me; he buys me drinks before meeting up with me; once we went out at 5:30 PM, my mom was supposed to pick me up but had an emergency and he waited with me until 8:30 PM; he gave me a flower made out of origami). I found his behavior quite ambiguous because usually, only guys who are interested in me treat me this way, but he seems genuinely happy for me whenever I talk about my love life with my boyfriend, unlike other guys. Also, he only has close female friends, so I don't know how to interpret his actions.
Recently, I met one of his best friends for the first time when we ran into each other at the university cafeteria. The three of us ate together. When I introduced myself to his friend with my name, she immediately said, "Oh, so you're THE [my name]," which threw me off. I asked her what she meant by "THE [my name]," and the guy jokingly said, "Do you think we talk bad about you?" I played along, saying yes. The girl laughed and said, "Oh, don't worry, he just told me you have a boyfriend studying in [name of city]." I found it strange that they talked about that, as I didn't know this girl at all, and I looked at my friend who seemed quite embarrassed. At one point, I was alone with her, and she said, "[Guy's name] told me you deleted Instagram! Why?" (I was taking a break from social media to focus on my exams, so the guy couldn't message me for a while, which I hadn't thought about—it created some distance between us for a week). I told my boyfriend all this, and it made him very concerned.
In short, my situation is complicated. I really wanted everything to remain purely friendly with this guy because I have real future plans with my boyfriend and I love him sincerely. But when I'm around this other guy, I can't shake off this attraction, and it's becoming quite frustrating because I'm used to being quite assertive and moving things forward quickly when I like a guy, but now I'm holding back despite my desires. Also, my friendship with him really bothers my boyfriend, who thinks the guy has bad intentions and has many concerns about me due to my past actions. But at the same time, I really enjoy this guy's company—I've never had such a pleasant friendship, so I don't want to lose it. I don't know if I should be as wary of him as my boyfriend is. Usually, the guys who like me are much more explicit about it. To my boyfriend, it's obvious that he's interested in me, but personally, I don't know. I'm lost.

2024.06.02 16:41 NikhilShah1988 Breaking the Mold: The Pitfalls of Categorization and the Call for Nuanced Understanding

In our quest to make sense of the world around us, we often resort to categorization as a means of simplifying complex realities. Whether it's in politics, social dynamics, or personal attributes, categorizations serve as convenient shortcuts, allowing us to make quick judgments and decisions. However, the reliance on categorization comes with its own set of pitfalls, often leading to oversimplification, prejudice, and misunderstanding.
Take politics, for example. In the realm of political discourse, issues are often presented as a series of binary choices – left vs. right, liberal vs. conservative, progressive vs. traditional. Yet, the reality is far more nuanced and complex than these simplistic dichotomies suggest. Political ideologies exist on a spectrum, with individuals holding a myriad of beliefs and values that defy easy categorization. The attempt to fit everyone neatly into predefined boxes ignores the rich diversity of perspectives and experiences that shape our political landscape.
Similarly, the dichotomy between empathetic and self-interested behavior oversimplifies the complexities of human nature. While it may be tempting to categorize individuals as either compassionate or self-serving, the reality is that most people exhibit a combination of both traits depending on the circumstances. In times of crisis, for example, even the most empathetic individuals may prioritize their own well-being and survival. Conversely, self-interested individuals may demonstrate acts of kindness and altruism when it serves their interests.
The problem with categorizations lies in their tendency to generalize and homogenize diverse experiences and perspectives. By reducing individuals to a single label or category, we risk overlooking the intricacies and nuances that make each person unique. This can lead to harmful stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination, as well as a failure to appreciate the complexities of human behavior and identity.
Rather than relying on rigid categorizations, we must strive for a more nuanced and inclusive understanding of the world. This requires us to approach issues with an open mind and a willingness to engage with complexity and ambiguity. It means recognizing that people are multifaceted beings, shaped by a multitude of factors including culture, upbringing, and personal experiences.
In conclusion, while categorizations may offer a convenient way to navigate the complexities of the world, they also carry inherent limitations and risks. By embracing nuance and complexity, and challenging our preconceived notions and biases, we can cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich diversity of human experience. Let us strive to break free from the constraints of categorization and embrace the richness and complexity of the world around us.

2024.06.02 16:39 powerpopdrummer Don't Know Where to Start

I have questions on an issue with UPS. I don't what to break any rules of this sub so I'm not sure where to begin. Bottom line, a personal item of mine...highly collectible and not replaceable...was lost by UPS. I'm not believing the results of their "investigation". The wording seems very scripted, like a template. I honestly believe my item is in a UPS warehouse somewhere with a missing or damaged label. But I can't get anyone at UPS to help me. Any calls I make go to a call center, seemingly not in the United States where I live, and where my item was being shipped.
Again, this is my personal property. The item in question is a very rare musical instrument (a drum to be specific), that I shipped as part of an entire drum set from my home in Florida to North Carolina, for a Scotland based band to use on their North American tour. Their tour ended in Los Angeles. All of the drums were shipped in professional Humes and Berg road cases. The cases have straps with latches to keep the lid secured to the case. In an abundance of caution, the latches were secured with tie wraps. The tie wraps would need to be cut in order to release the latches. I purchased all the return labels for the 5 cases and sent them to the venue manager in Los Angeles, where he attached the labels to the cases. I paid for UPS pickup of the packages (cases) from the venue. Four of the five cases arrived safely to Florida. Unfortunately the case with my floor tom in it did not.
The first thing I need help with is determining whether I am the sender or the receiver of the missing package/case. Reading through this sub, it appears UPS' contract is with the sender. What criteria determines who the sender is? The person who paid for the labels? Or, the person at the point of origin for the shipping? In this case, the venue manager. I should note, I received two confirmations from UPS when I arranged for pickup...one was confirmation that I arranged and paid for the pick up of 5 packages. The other was confirmation that 5 packages were picked up. However, one of the packages was never trackable. When I tracked it, I kept getting a notification that the item was ready for shipment but UPS hadn't received it yet. However I got the notification from UPS that 5 packages were picked up? I also confirmed with the venue manager that all the packages were picked up.
So I started a lost package claim. I had to do this over the phone, because the online form doesn't work if the tracking does not show the item in UPS custody. All I have is the confirmation from UPS that 5 packages were picked up. Well, the day after I reported the lost package I checked the tracking number, and received the following heartbreaking notice: All merchandise is missing and the empty carton was discarded. UPS will notify the sender. I literally almost passed out when I read this. Then I read the words closely. "All merchandise is missing"...how can that be? It was secured inside a road case? "The empty carton was discarded"...it wasn't in a carton, it was in road case. The only way for that case to be empty is if someone cut the zip ties and removed the drum from the case. This isn't a poorly packed cardboard box...or "carton". There is one additional note that reads: UPS will notify the shipper about the damage. So if I am to believe what I am reading, they are saying the professional drum case was damaged? Where is the burden of proof on this? The way these cases are made, I can not believe this unless I am shown photos. Also, "UPS will notify the shipper". Who is the shipper? I have not heard anything from UPS on this. All of this information is coming from what I see when I check the tracking number.
There is one more piece of information that just doesn't add up. I mentioned this package never showed that it was in UPS custody. There was never a delivery date or scan made. Yet, the results of the in investigation show the "damaged carton" was in Greensboro, North Carolina. How could the case get from Los Angeles to Greensboro, N.C. without showing up in tracking? It just doesn't make any sense. None of this makes any sense. I am despondent and powerless here. I honestly believe the case is sitting in the Customer Service Center in Los Angeles and no one at UPS is trying to even find it. I believe they are just giving me a formulaic answer to close this case and not compensate me for the loss. This is not some piece of merchandise I purchased online. This is my personal property that can not be replaced. They stopped making these drums in the mid 1970s. It is vintage and collectible.
Can anyone here help me? These drums were picked up from Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, zip code 90017-2362. Seeing as the Teragram Ballroom is only a half mile from the UPS Customer Center at 950 Blaine St, Los Angeles, CA 90015, I'm guessing that's were they were taken after being picked up. Does anyone know how to reach a caring human at this location? I am absolutely desperate here.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for caring.

2024.06.02 16:39 Alpha_Who Left my car unlocked by accident thief stole about £50 worth of things, what shall I do?

Stupidly left my car unlocked last night, thief stole my fake AirPods, £6 in change and an empty tripod bag. I’m annoyed that I let someone take it, but they left my work phone that was down the side of the car which was worth way more and any valuables I had was in the boot which wasn’t taken, can’t see anything else was taken, they didn’t touch my phone chargers or the stuff in my glove box either and had nothing on the back seat, should I consider myself lucky and be more careful in the future or should I file a police report?

2024.06.02 16:36 Venise-Celeste Hard lock bug in Burning shores

Hi, Please do not respond if you do not read the whole stuff.
The quest is : The stars in their eyes, the objective : Explore the ascension hall. YES I already posted a report on it, all i got is "did you sacn everything" ? DUH yes, I restarted the whole dlc and I'm still stuck to this goddam quest.
It happen AFTER getting the words of attainment, AFTER going to the elevator. Aloy say something like "they are buidling a spaceship" (we are in the womb of the horus). So I scouted every cm² of the map, NOTHING. Sayka's focus does bip, but she says nothing unlike in the playthrough I watch to find was I Was missing.
I'm playing without HUD, maybe I am missing something more ? I have nothing triggerind around doors or the rocket. (the scanning recket requirement arrives AFTER Seyka comment on her focus)
I'm hopeless.
Have you suggestions ? Can a cheat box via nexus mod can make me pass this quest or this moment ?
Thanks a lot.

2024.06.02 16:35 GoodGoodNotTooBad NFL plans to use technology more for officiating in upcoming seasons

Source: The Washington Post
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/06/02/nfl-electronic-first-downs-replay-assist/
"The NFL is about to increase the use of technology in its officiating....The league will continue to test an electronic system for measuring first downs during preseason games this summer, two people familiar with the deliberations said last month during a two-day meeting of team owners. That could lead to use of the system in regular season games as soon as the 2024 season."
"The NFL also will expand the use of instant replay as an officiating tool in the upcoming season. The league will give replay officials an increased role in assisting the on-field officials with certain objective aspects of penalties for roughing the passer, intentional grounding and late hits out of bounds."
"The Baltimore Ravens’ John Harbaugh, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Andy Reid and other coaches previously pushed for a “sky judge” system, in which an official stationed in the press box at each game would be empowered to use instant replay to overturn any erroneous call made on the field. The NFL continues to resist that but is inching just a bit closer to it."
"The sticks-and-chain system for measuring first downs is not about to be retired quite yet. The 10-yard chains are expected to remain on the sidelines at least as a backup system even after the electronic system for measuring first downs goes into regular season use....The human element will remain in the first-down process, given that the ball still will be spotted manually by on-field officials at the conclusion of each play. There will be no use of a chip in the football, for instance, to determine electronically whether a runner reached the first-down marker.....But once the ball has been spotted, a measurement will be conducted virtually in the NFL’s officiating center in New York, utilizing optical tracking cameras. The line-to-gain software can precisely calculate the ball’s position on the field and determine whether it reached the point necessary to gain a first down."
"The expanded scope of input for the replay official on plays on which a flag is thrown for roughing the passer, intentional grounding or a hit out of bounds was outlined by the competition committee in its report delivered to teams at the March meeting. The report said that the committee recommended after 'a thorough examination' that the replay-assist system could be used to help on-field officials on those plays."
"On a play on which a flag is thrown for a late hit out of bounds, the replay-assist system can be used to determine 'whether a runner was out of bounds when the officiating crew penalized the defender(s),' the competition committee’s report said. If the replay shows that the runner was 'clearly in bounds,' the penalty would be rescinded."
"On a play on which a flag is thrown for roughing the passer, replay-assist could be used 'when a defender’s contact to the head or neck area of the quarterback was the only criteria used by the official throwing the flag,' the report said. If there is 'clear and obvious video evidence that the defender did not make any contact to the head or neck area,' there would be no penalty."
"The replay official can also assist on an intentional grounding penalty, advising on-field officials on the objective considerations of whether the quarterback was in or out of the pocket, and whether the quarterback was in imminent jeopardy of being sacked based on the proximity of the defender."

2024.06.02 16:31 Cheese-l0rd Can’t find a new series

I’m not that good at finding new books to read so I was wondering if anyone here could recommend me some my standard taste in bold Carrie’s but I mainly like sci-fi and fantasy. Here are some examples of book series I like (the king killer chronicle, Harry Potter, ready player 1 and summoner) thanks in advance
