Spontaneous Cracked Windshield
FML, I came back to my car after shopping today to find my windshield cracked. There were no chips or dings prior and there's isn't a starting 'impact' sort of point either. It's suspiciously cracked starting at the very center of the windshield about a centimeter away from where the wiper sits. It goes up about 6 inches then curves towards the driver's side about 10 inches. It was a hot day today and I'm thinking maybe the temp did it (it was there for about 2.5 hours). This seems to be a warranty/install issue in my opinion? Is this something I can get covered under my warranty? Or should I call my insurance? Please help with what I should do. I've never gone through anything like this before :( For reference, it's a 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid SX-Prestige... So heated windshield too :/

Not energy drinks — but Ghost branded! My quick, unbiased review as a huge Ghost fan.
These hydration drinks finally came to Walmart! I was hyped and picked up three of them for 1.88 each, equaling around 6 dollars with tax. I was super excited to try them because I thought they looked really good.
I was very wrong.
Lemon Lime — 5/10, and this is generous. As straight out of the fridge, it tastes how it should. But after the first initial sips, the taste changes completely. It starts to taste like any generic hydration drink that’s loaded with vitamins and shit. Just vitamin water that’s supposed to taste like lemon lime(???). I’m only giving it a 5/10 because I don’t mind the taste of vitamin water exactly.
RedBerry — 5/10, also generous. Same issue as the last one. Straight out of fridge, tastes how it should and similar to that of the energy drink. Next few sips? Vitamin water with a weird ass aftertaste that faintly reminds you of the sour patch kids flavour.
Blue raspberry — 8/10. This one is actually really solid and the blue raspberry is actually strong enough to cover that disgusting vitamin water taste (at least, mostly). I would buy this one again, but the lack of carbonation for all of them makes them incomparable to their energy drink counterparts.
Overall, I don’t think it was a waste of money to try these? Definitely try the blue raspberry if you already loved that flavour in Ghost, but the rest you can hard pass on.

2024.05.20 01:20 Formal_Ad5882 2019 kia soul issue

My 2019 kia soul has 73,000 miles. Cylinder 2 keeps filling up with oil and misfiring. The 1st time I changed the plug, the 2nd time I changes all the plugs and coil packs. The 3rd time I was told I needed a fuel injector. When the car was about to get the fuel injector replaced, i was told that's actually not the issue it's something to do with the engine causes the oil in cylinder 2. Made an appointment with kia a week out. On the day of the appointment, I was told they couldn't get to my car for a nother week for the diegnostic test. What should I expect next from kia. The car engine should 100% be covered under warranty. How long will they have my car, and what should I expect

2024.05.20 01:18 hahafooledya I [M21] am at my wits-end with my SOs [F20] messiness, justified?

I [M21] am at my wits-end with my SOs [F20] messiness
One year relationship
In the beginning of us being together this wasn’t the case. When I would come over she would usually have a clean room and even if it was even a little bit messy she would apologize and/or not let me in until it was clean. Over time her cleanliness seems to erode (I guess) over time, especially after moving into her own place with her sister (who isn’t much better). It’s even started to feel like her being clean and tidy in the beginning was a mask and I’m seeing the real her now
Examples:
is always (ALWAYS) messy. It’s become the norm for me to have to push away trash on the passenger floor with my feet, there’s usually a cup that she uses for a small garbage/ashtray. There’s even other peoples trash (usually sister’s but friends too) that she complains about but doesn’t stop them from doing.
I remember one time her phone fell under the seat so I helped her reach it. I saw so much trash and food and filters and weed crumbs under her seats.
Ive expressed about this before and she changed temporarily. Eventually I gave up on it because it’s her car and I’m never in it for long (I don’t have my own car). Plus if it really bothers I just don’t have to be in it
has become a consistent mess. It’s crazy that she always apologizes for it when I come over but nothing gets done about it. She has clothes and dishes and wrappers on the floor, her nightstand is always cluttered, there’s even been times when she “didn’t get a chance to do laundry over the week” so we will sleep on towels or t shirts over pillows instead of having pillowcases.
I’m no neat freak but I was raised to be a good host but it seems she wasn’t(?) One time after we had sex I accidentally left a used condom laying around (nothing inside, just used). The next day she had a friend over unexpectedly. No biggie, she hung out her in her room for a bit while I watched tv in the living room. She told me after that her friend left and she saw it and pointed out the condom. I sincerely apologized to my girlfriend for it as I know it would be seen as gross and embarrassing. My girlfriend didn’t care, saying “this is my house”.
A few days ago (let’s say Wednesday) she told me she accidentally spilled her ashtray on the floor. Weekend comes and that spill is still on the floor. I laughed about it initially, thinking she would get to it. She never did, despite us eating and watching tv in the living room all night and it being as simple as sweeping it up. I even accidentally stepped on the pile of ash, filters, and sticks and expressed it made me upset. Still nothing done about it, instead just walks around it every time.
what am I doing about it?
You may be saying to yourself, “why not help out sometimes?” Well one, it’s her house so it’s not my responsibility. And two, I actually have. I’m someone who was raised to be a good houseguest as well. When I’m over her place I clean. Not only do I genuinely want to help sometimes but I try to take care of any mess I contribute to. I’ll wash dishes, take out trash from our food delivery bags, etc
You may also be asking, “well have you communicated this to her?” One, I feel this isn’t something a partner should have to bring up as it is her personal and basic well-being. I feel it’s weird to have to tell my partner about the importance of keeping her home/room clean. Plus if this basic thing is changed just for the sake of the relationship or because a partner brings it up, similar to her car, would be it be real change? Two, tactfully I mention it all the time: “the trash is getting full, you guys should do the dishes more often I don’t want y’all to get pests, I think you should throw out the food in that Tupperware in fridge being it’s been in there for a few months, etc
some understanding
She works too jobs, one at a daycare and another as an aba therapist. She was heavily abused as a child and endures emotional and financial abuse from her sister often. In my opinion, she has every reason to be burnt out and not have the energy to do even basic things sometimes. She does try to be better. Though she has back problems that deter her from being able to do the dishes in one go she has done it here and there. She has cleaned the bathroom, washed her clothes, and keeps bed bed clean. It sounds like I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel here, I know, but I’m saying these things to say ‘I don’t think she’s lazy. I think she’s dealing with more than she can handle externally and internally and it’s affecting how she lives. I see her efforts and I don’t want it to come across as me condescending’. (Therapy would be helpful imo but she lacks the time and desire, she says).
TL;DR: my so has become messier and messier over time. She deals with a lot so I can get not having the energy to always clean but it’s a little crazy at this point. She wants to improve a lot in her life so that leads me to be hopeful but I’ve heard you shouldn’t be with someone for their potential. Perhaps I’m taking this too seriously
What do you think?

2024.05.20 01:15 loomisfreeman191 Renting car from SIXT with TD First class Travel CC

hi all,
Canadian here. Anyone have issues booking a car though SIXT (waiving insurance) with TD first class?
Will TD first class travel cover most issues that would arise with a car rental?
I plan on getting a sedan and staying within republic of IE for 7 days.
I've heard some stories where you need a letter from the credit cad company to say that it covers insurance in Ireland. Do I need to get this?
If anyone has any tips or other companies I should check out, please let me know.

2024.05.20 01:14 cgstories The Sleepover (part 1& 2)

I got an invitation in the mail in a pretty purple envelope covered with flowers and shiny plastic gems. It was for a girls-only sleepover, something I'd never done before. At first, I was really excited, but then I saw that it was from Jane and Mary Bardell.
The twin girls were in my 7th-grade class. They were really quiet and rarely talked. Even though they didn't say much, you could still feel they were there. I remember sitting in front of them one day and feeling their quiet energy behind me.
The back of my neck started to tingle and feel hot. When I looked back, I saw Jane staring at me. Her deep-set dark eyes looked hungry, like she hadn't eaten in days and I was the meat dangling in front of her face. Mary also looked at me, and when she smiled, it almost seemed like she had fangs.
When they did talk, always in perfect unison, they sounded flat and without any emotion. But their serious looks and voices made me feel uncomfortable, and the room felt heavy. Luckily, they usually sat in silence at the back of the class.
One day, they just didn't come to school anymore and stayed home. Maybe their parents decided to school them at home. They lived across the street from me in a neat two-story brownstone house. Their lawn was well-maintained and protected by a sturdy five-foot iron fence.
The curtains in their house were kept closed tight. No light ever came out, even at night. But sometimes, on the second floor, a curtain would move, and I'd see the twins' pale faces looking out. We'd lock eyes for a moment before the curtain closed again.
After they stopped coming to school, some kids from our class started to go missing. First, it was Eddie, who vanished on his way home. Then Katy disappeared the same way. Both of them had walked past Jane and Mary's house before they went missing.
For some reason, I just had a feeling deep down that the twins had something to do with the disappearances. I even wondered if they were really human. Maybe they were vampires. Oh, yes, they were definitely vampires! It all made sense.
"You're going," my mom insisted at dinner when I told her I didn't want to go to the sleepover. I didn't see the point since I could sleep in my own bed. Why stay at someone else's house when I lived just across the street?
I groaned. "I don't want to go. They're so fucking weird.”
"Watch your language!" Both my parents warned me, giving me a serious look.
“It’s been difficult for that family,” Dad said, “The girls had to be pulled out of school because of an illness.”
“What kind of illness?”
“Their parents didn’t say what it was, but they said the girls would like to have friends.”
“Oh, those poor girls,” Mom sighed. “They just want to have a nice and normal sleepover party.”
I shook my head. “I don’t want to go.”
“You’re going.”
And that was that.
I wasn't hungry anymore and left my dinner unfinished. I headed straight to my room and glanced out the window. I saw their pale faces peeking through the curtain in their second-floor bedroom. I closed the blinds and turned off the light. There was no way I was going to their house without something to keep me safe.
XXXXXX
“Your house is really nice,” I remarked, placing my sleeping bag and pillow on the floor. I kept my backpack close, making sure the crucifix I borrowed from my parents was safely tucked inside one of its pockets. I really hope my mom doesn't realize it's missing.
I was the only one who had arrived at the Bardell’s house so far. Mrs. Bardell opened the door and greeted me with a big, never-ending smile that looked like it was permanently glued to her face. Her teeth showed through the wide grin, and her lips were covered in a thick layer of red lipstick.
“That's really nice of you," she responded with a smile. “I can see why you get along with my girls.”
Mary and Jane, seated across from me, both nodded and chimed in together, “Yes, she's great, Mom. We're happy we invited her.”
“So, when are the others getting here?” I asked.
“What others?” Mrs. Bardell appeared puzzled.
“Tammy and Harriette. They said you invited them too, and they promised they'd come.”
“Oh, they're not coming anymore. They called just before you arrived to let us know,” Mrs. Bardell explained. Her big, dark eyes moved between me and the twins. “Okay girls, just sit tight for a bit. Dinner will be ready soon.” Then she went into the kitchen.
Fantastic! Just fantastic! Some friends they are. Traitors!
“They didn't tell me…” I mumbled quietly, feeling betrayed. I quickly checked my phone and texted Tammy: So you're just not gonna show up?
The message was stuck on “sending…”
“Don't worry about it,” the twins reassured me. “We'll still have a great time tonight!”
Their idea of a good time was putting on a skit they had practiced the last few days. The twins disappeared upstairs, only to return dressed in their costumes. Mary had on a gray hoodie that I thought I'd seen before, and I noticed a dark crusty-looking red spot on the sleeve. Jane sported a baseball uniform. Mr. Bardell, wearing a smile like his wife, joined in the fun. He was down on all fours, wearing a dog mask that looked surprisingly lifelike.
I sat still on the sofa, feeling completely weirded out.
As Mary ambled around the living room, her hood shielding her face and her hands tucked in her pockets, Jane and Mr. Bardell engaged in a game of frisbee. Mr. Bardell crawled around like a playful pup, zooming across the room and even leaping over the couch. Quickly, I crouched down to avoid getting hit. He then sprang to his feet, his arms bent like a dog's, proudly holding the frisbee in his mouth.
Mary stopped and glanced back. “Cool dog,” she said.
“Thanks,” Jane said, mimicking a man’s low pitch. “What’s your name, son?”
“Eddie.”
My stomach sank. That was the name of our missing classmate.
“Would you like to play with him?” Jane continued.
“I should really get home, my mom–” said Mary.
“One throw won't hurt, would it?”
“I guess not.”
Jane grabbed the frisbee out of her dad's mouth and passed it to Mary. The frisbee soared into the dining room and plopped right onto a plate sitting on the table.
“Oh! It flew into my house,” said Jane.
“I'm sorry!” Mary said.
“That's okay, my daughters are getting a kick out of watching us.” Jane pointed up. “Do you see them over there? Second floor, window to the right.”
Mary waved.
“They told me you're a friend of theirs.”
“Not exactly friends… I mean, we went to the same school. I haven't seen them around in a while though.”
“Why don't you come inside and say hi?”
Before Mary could answer, Mrs. Bardell popped out of the kitchen, saying dinner was served. All eyes turned to me, waiting for me to make the first move.

2024.05.20 01:08 Mission-Most-8521 For the sake of my nipples...

Please help! Omg. Baby (6mo, EBF) got 2 teeth about two weeks ago and I've been dreading the inevitable. She hasn't actually bitten down until today. We had a busy day out today. She usually gets distracted and doesn't eat a lot when we are out. Well I knew she'd likely be napping in the car because we were gonna be driving for a bit so I tried to feed her before putting her in the car seat and that was the first time she bit me. I put my finger in her mouth and I tried again, and again she bit me. I took her off again and put her in her carseat. When we were leaving and it was time for her to eat again I tried nursing again, and she did fine and then my letdown started and she bit me. I unlatched her and put her in the car. When we got home I tried again and she did alright, but eventually ended up biting me, so I pushed her face into my boob so she let go. That is something I've read on this page before. She cried and I just put her down and sat with her and then we went and did something else.
I've tried again to feed her twice because she hasn't had enough milk today but she has bitten me every time. She also missed a nap, so idk if it is a symptom of her being overtired and distracted or if it's just something that all babies do with their first teeth. I am nervous to feed her now, and I'm dreading bedtime and each nursing session.
I would love advice of what has been effective for you, how long did it take baby to figure out "if I bite mom, I get the boob taken away"? Also any tips for me to keep some confidence going into our feeding sessions. Does this happen with each new tooth!? Or do they catch on after these first ones? I don't want to stop EBF, nor do I feel like it would be an option for us. She refuses a bottle and I also want to make sure she gets plenty of milk.

2024.05.20 01:08 drewpy36 I was part of a 3 car accident last night. What do I do?

I was Involved in a 3 car collision last night. (check my post history to see the video on if interested.) I've filed a claim with my insurance, and plan to file a claim with the insurance of the car that hit me tomorrow, but I'm curious if I should get a lawyer due to the following:
  1. The driver of the car that hit me jumped over my car to check on the driver of the other rav4 that hit them, and scratched the paint on my hood. I'm not sure if this is something their insurance would cover since it occurred while his car was stopped.
  2. I am an Uber driver and you are not supposed to drive vehicles with cosmetic damage. My dad has told me I should just drive anyway and not worry about it since it's essentially just a large scuff. I haven't decided if I'm gonna or not. If I don't drive I will be seeking compensation for lost wages.
Curious if yall think I should seek out a consultation, or if I should see if their insurance will make me whole first. (Note: no one was injured) Thank you for the input!

2024.05.20 01:02 Odd-Can-3632 BMW x7 2024 The worst thing you can ever spend your money on.

This is from someone who owned this car for a little less than a year. Bought it cause it looked good compact enough look for a 3 row suv, it’s a BMW, and all raving reviews.
Little did I know that the internet has become a big heaping pile of marketing crap and no one is honest about anything anymore. Here is my warning for anyone looking maybe it’ll save them:
  1. The AC if you live in a hotter than normal area, the AC is severely underpowered and BMW knows enough about that that they decided to give you the very complicated option to pre-condition the car on a timer of when you think you’ll be back. It’s like my dad old car that we had to go in and wait 5 minutes for the engine to heat up before he drove… G I wish we had all this tech to pre-start the car before we got to it.
  2. The seats going up and down to get passengers in the 3 row is beyond laughably slow.
  3. The infotainment or whatever they call it these days, seriously I have never ever seen anything that stupidly designed in my life. I’m an IT professional that developed UX for many products and this is the dumbest thing I have seen. Who ever designed it didn’t know the meaning of the word intuitive.
  4. Yay you have an app for the car, you want your ID to get the proper seating adjustment? You have two options PIN code which you are like wow yeah let me make sure everyone in the car can see me enter the pin code that’s secure, or an app tethered to your ID which never works.
  5. The app and the car always thinks you are coming to it, and thinking it’s so smart that it switches your Bluetooth from your phone to your car and unlock your car when you are in a room near the car.
All in all; I have never wrote a negative review before in my life but this… this is beyond deplorable, BMW should be ashamed of themselves and recall the car replace the AC and completely rebuild the infotainment system.

2024.05.20 00:59 UniversityMundane648 Lost several friends because one friend is a bad mother, good riddance.

I'm in my mid-twenties, and not many of my friends have kids including myself, except for A, who has two. Her kids are pretty destructive, and I know the oldest has some problems, mentally, though she doesn't talk about it, it came from the fact that he was born prematurely and nearly died, and she "forgot" when he was an infant that he was supposed to be fed at night, leading him to add to our states already overflowing child malnutrition statistic. She got that fixed, and met with her CPS person until she didn't have to no more. She has a very laissez faire approach to parenting that I'm not exactly a fan of, but again, I'm not a parent, and if CPS said she was doing fine, who am I to disagree?
Anyway. I was over at her house, getting a tan while her kids jumped on the trampoline. Something I should say is that despite being 6, her oldest is still extremely small and fragile, due to the things I've explained above. I looked up to see him trying to jump off the edge of her fairly tall trampoline, directly into gravel beneath it, and possibly to tumble because her trailer is on a bit of a hill, to be clear, this would not have been a minor scrape for this boy. He broke his arm as a baby in his car seat. He is fragile. I jumped up and helped him down, prompting a crying fit from him, and her dragging me back towards the seats by the arm.
She asked what the hell I was thinking, and I explained what I had seen, making her roll her eyes.
"Well, if he had jumped he would have learned not to do it again. Now you've just made him want to do it more, because he thinks you don't want him to."
I asked if maybe talking with him to explain that he could get hurt would help, and she just laughed and said "kids don't understand that kind of think until they get busted up."
I asked if she really expected me to just sit there while a child knocked his brains out on her gravel, and she slapped me. Not super proud of my response to that, but suffice to say I left and we didn't talk for a while, until she asked if I was taking her out for her birthday. I just blocked her after that, and now that group of friends is pissed because I know "she's going through a hard time". She's been going through a hard time since those kids were born, and I'm not gonna spend the next 14 years going through a bad time being her friend, I'm done. When I explained that, most of that group blocked me. I can't bring myself to care that much because honestly the drama, and the fuckin' bullshit got to be too much. If I'm a bad friend, so be it.

2024.05.20 00:58 KGBree Pulled the Trigger

Pulled the Trigger
I am and have been for years a loyal Toyota/Lexus driver. I’ve had my 2016 RC350 F-sport for 8 years now; bought it new, fully loaded and at a great price point because it was the outbound model year and was collecting dust at a Southern California dealer despite (I can only assume due to the odo sitting around 250 miles when I drove it off the lot) being test driven at least a dozen times. No regrets, it was a really fun drive and now has been paid off around a year.
The thing is, when I bought it I lived in San Diego county, had for years, and had no intention to relocate. The fact that it’s a RWD vehicle was not even a consideration until I relocated to the PNW and experienced my first winter driving it in the snow. It can be assumed how that went. Flash forward 5 years and although the fairly mild winters in Seattle and the short lived snow season allowed me to hold onto the RC maybe longer than I should have, my husband and I relocated last October to Nebraska and it became clear very quickly that keeping the car would mean I was essentially without a functional vehicle for large parts of the winter months.
So I’ve been passively cruising the market and wavering back and forth between trading the RC in for a GX, an AWD IS, a 4Runner or really anything else that would keep me mobile when it snowed more than 1/8”. Well, this past week I decided to get serious. I originally honed in on a 2024 TRD pro that was in transit to my local dealer but was immediately shot down by the sales guy who said yeah, it’s not even on the lot yet… but it’s sold. I’m like ok so can I order one just like it? No. We have the slime green one though! No thanks. So then he says well, the couple buying the one you’re interested in is trading in their ‘23 TRD pro. It’s black though. You interested? I was like ok sure I’ll come look. Internally I was skeptical honestly because I didn’t want a black vehicle. They can be difficult to keep looking clean and seem to not wear even minor scratches well.
BUT!!! I showed up on the lot yesterday probably within an hour of the ink drying on the previous owner’s trade deal. I unexpectedly absolutely loved it. Took it for a quick drive and it’s tons of fun. Handles way more responsively than I expected and the much MUCH roomier interior than the RC was even more of a welcome change than I thought it’d be. Although the dealer was pretty firm on the price point (which was not significantly lower than the 2024), they were able to come up a couple thousand on the trade and the handful of mods that the owners had made I felt made the net deal worth it so I went for it.
I got a surprisingly decent interest rate on the financed amount (decent for someone with my credit rating) making the payments more than manageable and less of a sting than they could have been coming fresh off the payment-free high of paying the RC off after 7 years.
I spent about 90 minutes after getting home obsessing over what my first mods will be before ultimately deciding the only thing I absolutely need right away is tint to help manage the hot summer months in a black on black vehicle. I’m going to just settle into it for a while and figure out how often I’ll actually be taking it off the pavement and what I want or need after owning it through the first winter season before I start dumping money into it.
Anyway thanks for reading I really just wanted to share how happy I am with what I drove off the lot and how excited I am to start playing around with it while the weather is good!

2024.05.20 00:57 DrLith Lambsquarters: am I the problem?

So after all the high prays for lambsquarters in the recent underrated wild foods, I decided to give it another shot. Several years ago when I had recently moved to my property I had read on some foraging blog about how Lamb's quarters made a nice addition to salad greens. I tried that one day when I was low on store-bought lettuce. I did not like them at all; the powdery surface was a turnoff and I found them pretty bitter. For background, I'm fairly picky about the greens that I tolerate/enjoy and I find a lot of stuff is too bitter for my liking without heavily disguising it in some sort of flavorful dish like curry or tomato sauce. I don't like raw spinach or kale, for example, but I do like saag paneer or moderate amounts of kale in soup. This time I tried sauteing it in butter with a mild garlicky Mexican seasoning blend and a dash of lime juice, because I find that the sour of citrus does a good job of offsetting the bitterness of some vegetables that I find disagreeable. And dusted it in cotijo cheese for good measure. Nevertheless when I served myself a small amount and went to chew, I could barely swallow. The lambsquarters I harvested were fairly small; 4-8 inches tall at most. I tried to remove most of the stems but because the leaves were actually so small it was not really feasible to have leaf only. The overall impression was a stringy and bitter. I was almost unable to eat it, but I found that by taking turns between bites of my main dish of enchiladas and this lambsquarter saute I was able to eat the small amount that I had cooked. So my question to the sub is: am I preparing this wrong, or is it just me and lambsquarters is not among the forged greens that I like in any significant amount? So far my favorite foraged greens have been pigweed, pokeweed, stinging nettles, and common mallow, all of which I blanched first and drain and then add as a secondary ingredient in something like a spaghetti sauce or chili. Should I try blanching it? Should I actually wait until it's a little bit bigger and make more of an effort to remove the stems? Or should I just toss it in the compost? I'm a little bummed because it is so prolific.

2024.05.20 00:55 Bobert858668 Looking for critique on my Arthurian legend based tv show pilot!

EXT. CAMELOT - CASTLE DAY
(The castle of Camelot stands over grassy hills and crystal clear rolling rivers and seas. Gray clouds cover the sky and hundreds of soldiers and knights can be seen riding toward the castle. Text appears on the screen reading “CAMELOT” and then “CENTURIES AGO”.)
INT. CASTLE - THRONE ROOM - DAY
(MORGANA LE FAY (Centuries-Old), a beautiful middle aged appearing woman with sharp features and long flowing black hair, sits on the throne and holds Excalibur, the Crown of Camelot sits upon her head. Knights and soldiers march in linear motions through the hall. DEWIN (30s), a scruffily charming magician, enters in handcuffs, with guards behind him. Dewin marches up and presents himself to Morgana. Everyone in the room halts.)
MORGANA: State your name.
DEWIN: You know my name, Morgana.
MORGANA: State your name.
DEWIN: Dewinson of Merlin.
MORGANA: You are being tried with treason and conspiracy against the crown. Do you plead guilty to these crimes?
DEWIN: That depends.
MORGANA: On what?
DEWIN: Who you consider the crown to be.
(Dewin slips his handcuffs off and as he does three Blue Jays come flying out of his sleeve and begin to fly around the room.)
MORGANA: Enough foolishness. I find you guilty of the accusations placed upon you.
DEWIN: Then kill me.
MORGANA: Hm?
DEWIN: Let’s skip past the chatter and get my head on a platter. You see what I did there? Chatter platter.
MORGANA: Silence! Death is far too good for you.
DEWIN: Do your worst, no matter what Camelot will fall.
MORGANA: Is that a threat?
DEWIN: A threat would be something I plan on doing to you myself, the fall of Camelot, well that will be purely your doing.
(Morgana gets off the throne and draws a glowing circle around Dewin with Excalibur, as she does so Dewin lets out a small laugh.)
DEWIN: Binding me? My imprisonment shall not halter the winds of time.
MORGANA: I banish you.
DEWIN: What?
MORGANA: From this plane of time and place I banish you.
DEWIN: Not even you have the power to do that. Banishment spells have been hidden away for ages.
MORGANA: Hidden away in scrolls buried in this very castle. Dilflannu o’r awyren hon.
DEWIN: No.
MORGANA: Dilflannu o’r amser hwn.
DEWIN: No, no, stop.
MORGANA: Dilflannu o’r meddwl. Rwy’n eich gwahardd!
(Morgana’s eyes turn purple and electricity sparks all around Dewin and seems to be sucking the energy out of him.)
EXT. LONDON - FOREST - DAY
(A plain and put together autumnal forest. Text appears over the screen reading “LONDON” and then “EIGHTEEN EIGHTY FIVE”. Electricity sparks and Dewin appears in the forest dazed and confused. He is covered in scars and almost immediately passes out face forward into the ground.)
EXT. LONDON - FOREST - DAY
(As night begins to dawn Dewin is still incapacitated. A carriage led by a horse named, Sally, comes through the forest and halts at Dewin. ALDEN SMITH (Early 40s), a plump and posh man with a defining bushy mustache, cautiously hops out of the carriage. Alden looks around for a moment before spotting Dewin. Alden approaches Dewin and checks his pulse through his arm. Alden’s eyes linger on Dewin for a moment before looking up.)
ALDEN: Hello!? Is anybody there!?
(Alden waits for a moment before looking back down at Dewin. Alden sighs and then lifts Dewin up and into the carriage before hopping in himself. Alden pulls on the horse’s reins and it begins to march forward.)
EXT. LONDON - WICING DRIVE - NIGHT
(Alden drives his carriage down Wicing Drive and parks in front of a townhome, Twenty Six Wicing Drive. Alden gets out of the carriage, carrying Dewin, and walks up the steps. MINERVA SMITH (Early 40s), a stern yet radiant woman, opens the door in shock.)
ALDEN: It’s a long story.
INT. TWENTY SIX WICING DRIVE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
(A stereotypical Victorian living room made primarily of oak and illuminated by two small oil lamps and a burning fireplace. Dewin is still incapacitated and lies on the table covered in bandages, Alden and Minerva hover over him. Bottles of ointment sit next to Dewin.)
MINERVA: What were you doing in the woods?
ALDEN: It’s the fastest cut home.
MINERVA: And you just-
(Minerva is interrupted by Dewin’s sighing as he wakes up.)
DEWIN: Ah! Where am I? Who are you?
MINERVA: My name is Minnie, and this is my husband, Alden.
DEWIN: What’s happening?
ALDEN: I found you all bruised in the middle of the forest. Do you know what happened to you?
DEWIN: Morgana le Fay banished me.
(Alden and Minerva glance at each other.)
MINERVA: Oh lord, I think you're a bit confused.
DEWIN: I am not confused. I am Dewin, son of Merlin. Now if you don’t mind, I’d like to ask if you could take me to a sage or healer?
MINERVA: Of course, Alden can take you tomorrow morning, but for the night you can stay here.
DEWIN: Why, thank you.
ALDEN: Minnie, may I speak to you in the other room?
MINERVA: Of course.
(Alden and Minerva step into the kitchen.)
INT. TWENTY SIX WICING DRIVE - KITCHEN - NIGHT
ALDEN: We can not keep this man in our home. He is mentally insane.
MINERVA: Which means we must watch over him.
ALDEN: I am looking out for our safety.
MINERVA: And where would we take him?
ALDEN: I don’t know. He is as mad as the Doeth man!
MINERVA: Then that’s where we’ll take him.
ALDEN: Stick to nuts together?
MINERVA: The man has some common sense and he’s very compassionate.
ALDEN: Perfect.
EXT. LONDON - ALDRICH’S HOUSE - NIGHT
(Alden and Minerva Dewin sit in their carriage with Dewin outside of a small house that is slightly separated from the other homes on the street.)
DEWIN: So this is the home of a healer?
ALDEN: According to him. I will go to the door alone, I do not want to scare him.
(Alden gets out of the carriage and starts heading towards the home.)
MINERVA: So you really do believe that you are the son of Merlin.
DEWIN: I know who my father was. Why is this such a puzzle for you and your husband to wrap your heads around?
MINERVA: Why I’ve only heard stories of Camelot, myths of ancient pasts.
DEWIN: So Morgana not only shifted my place but also the time.
(Alden knocks on the home's door and is greeted by ALDRICH DOETH (Hundreds Of Years Old), an older looking man with crystals strapped around his neck.)
ALDRICH: Doctor Smith, have they finally sent someone to take me away to a nuthouse?
ALDEN: On the exact contrary, I’ve found a wounded man who claims to have been sent here by Morgana le Fay.
ALDRICH: That’s what the shift was!
ALDEN: What? You know what it doesn’t matter, as long as you’re willing to take this man.
ALDRICH: Yes, yes, bring him to me.
ALDEN: Minerva, send him up!
(Dewin comes up to the door.)
DEWIN: Hello.
ALDRICH: My goodness, the energy pulsates off of you.
DEWIN (TO ALDEN): This is the healer?
ALDEN: Yes. Now if you two don’t mind I think I will be headed back on my way.
ALDRICH: Are you sure, Doctor? It’s getting rather late, you and your wife are welcome to stay here.
ALDEN: Thank you, but there’s no need.
(Rain starts pouring out of the sky out of nowhere and thunder and lighting begin.)
ALDRICH: What about now, Doctor?
ALDEN: Minnie! We’re staying here tonight!
INT. ALDRICH’S HOUSE - LIVING SPACE - DAY
(A cluttered mess of books, candles, and potions. Aldrich, Alden, Minerva, and Dewin sit on Aldrich’s circular array of couches and chairs.)
ALDRICH: Before we dive in I suggest you go wash off, Dewin. The washroom is that small one to your left.
DEWIN: Thank you, Aldrich.
(Dewin gets up and goes into the washroom.)
ALDRICH: I know what you two think of me, the neighborhood’s resident crazy.
MINERVA: Not at all, Mister Doeth.
ALDRICH: Don’t lie, Minerva, our actions all come back to bite us.
ALDEN: So we think you're mental, what of it?
ALDRICH: There are dark forces amongst us, Mister and Misses Smith. I believe that Dewin is here to save us.
ALDEN: I appreciate you letting us stay here, but I think it’s time we leave.
ALDRICH: I will change this storm into an earthquake to keep you here if I must.
ALDEN: Come on, Minnie.
(Alden and Minerva get up and go to leave when the whole room begins to shake.)
ALDEN: What’s happening!?
ALDRICH: I warned you.
(Aldrich makes silencing symbols with his hands and the storm and the shaking stops.)
ALDRICH: Now will you listen to me?
(Alden and Minerva both sit back down.)
ALDEN: What are you?
AlDRICH: A magician, a clairvoyant, a healer, I am all of those things and more.
ALDEN: Why do you want us here so badly?
ALDRICH: I don’t think it’s a coincidence that you are the one who found Dewin, Doctor Smith. He needs a guide in this vast new world. Prophecy states that when the second coming of the Camelot war comes, the savior will have a protector.
ALDEN: And why me?
ALDRICH: There are questions that only we can answer ourselves.
(Dewin comes out of the washroom and sits back down.)
ALDRICH: Dewin, please tell me exactly how you arrived here.
DEWIN: Morgana le Fay used an ancient banishing spell on me.
ALDRICH: The fall of Camelot.
(Suddenly a wind sweeps through the room that blows out all the candles.)
MINERVA: Mister Doeth, are you doing this?
ALDRICH: No.
(A match is lit in the center of the room to reveal GWENWYN LIGHTWOOD (Centuries-Old), a green draconic humanoid woman in black robes and a hood.)
GWENWYN: Aldrich.
ALDRICH: Lady Lightwood.
GWENWYN: I’ve tracked a shift in magic to your home.
ALDRICH: It is this boy, he was banished here from Camelot.
(Gwenwyn goes up to Dewin and takes her hood off to reveal her scaly appearance. Alden gasps in disbelief. Gwenwyn runs her finger down Dewin’s cheek.)
GWENWYN (TO ALDRICH): Hm. I presume you wish to let him roam freely?
ALDRICH: With guidance, yes.
GWENWYN: If one thing goes wrong you will be punished.
ALDRICH: I know.
DEWIN (TO GWENWYN): Who are you?
GWENWYN: The last of the dragons. Just as Aldrich is the last descendent of the Family Merlin.
DEWIN (TO ALDRICH): You're a descendant of my father?
ALDRICH: Of his sister, I have many of her poems and spell tombs still intact here.
GWENWYN: Magic is rare these days, endangered, most people don’t even know it exists. So are we under agreement on the boy, Aldrich?
ALDRICH: Yes, but something is still troubling. If you and I both felt Dewin’s presence then-
GWENWYN: Benjamin did too.
DEWIN: Who is Benjamin?
ALDRICH: A descendant of Morgana who wishes to rule the earth under her ideals.
GWENWYN: A very very dangerous man who will certainly kill me if he finds me here.
(Gwenwyn’s match extinguishes and after a moment the candles all reignite but Gwenwyn is gone.)
ALDEN: By Jove!
ALDRICH: So do you all accept this challenge?
DEWIN: What challenge?
ALDRICH: Defeating Benjamin Fayle.
DEWIN: Of course!
ALDEN: Absolutely not.
ALDRICH: Are you that repulsed by compassion?
ALDEN: I can’t risk Minerva of I’s life on what could all be me hallucinating.
ALDRICH: You're risking the world for a craven excuse.
ALDEN: Goodbye.
(Alden gets up.)
ALDEN: Let’s leave, Minnie.
MINERVA: Thank you for your hospitality, Mister Doeth, and good luck.
(Alden leaves, followed by Minerva.)
EXT. LONDON - ALDRICH’S HOUSE - NIGHT
(Alden and Minerva ride through the street in their carriage.)
MINERVA: We were definitely drugged.
ALDEN: Absolutely.
EXT. LONDON - WICING DRIVE - NIGHT
(Alden and Minerva hop out of their carriage.)
ALDEN: I’m going to bring Sally back to the stables.
MINERVA: Goodnight, love you.
ALDEN: I love you most.
(Minerva goes up and enters Twenty Six Wicing Drive as Alden detaches Sally from the carriage and begins to guide her down the cobbled sidewalk with one of his hands on her reins.)
EXT. LONDON - FOREST - NIGHT
(Alden guides Sally through the forest to a set of stables. Sally suddenly rears up and neighs in terror.)
ALDEN: What is it Sally?
(Sally suddenly breaks off her reins and runs towards the stables. A figure in a dark purple hood and robe sweeps past Alden and their eyes glow purple. Alden screams.)
INT. TWENTY SIX WICING DRIVE - BEDROOM- DAY
(Alden and Minerva lay next to each other asleep in bed. Alden wakes up screaming which awakens Minerva.)
MINERVA: What’s the matter?
ALDEN: Just a night terror.
MINERVA: We did the right thing with Dewin, he’s with someone like him now.
ALDEN: Is that really a good thing? I think I’m going to go to the pub.
MINERVA: This early in the morning?
ALDEN: I need to clear my head after yesterday.
INT. GRIFFIN’S TAIL PUB - DAY
(A traditional Victorian pub. Dewin sits at the bar and is served by BRYNN CROWING (Early 30s), a charming bartender.)
BRYNN: What can I get you, Mate?
DEWIN: Just a pint of mead, please.
(Brynn goes and pours Dewin a pint of mead that she brings back to him and he begins drinking.)
BRYNN: I like your outfit, it’s very medieval.
DEWIN: It was made by the tailor of Sir Gawain.
(Brynn gives a light chuckle.)
BRYNN: What’s your name?
DEWIN: Dewin, and yours?
BRYNN: Brynn.
(Alden enters and sees Dewin. Alden leaves, but as he does he spots another person in a dark purple robe and hood with glowing purple eyes.)
DEWIN: You're very beautiful.
BRYNN: Why, thank you.
DEWIN: Would you like to go for a stroll?
BRYNN: My shift here doesn’t end till six.
DEWIN: Then I’ll see you then.
BRYNN: I guess you will.
(Dewin finishes his mead and drops two silver coins with dragons etched into them on the bar before swiftly leaving. Brynn picks up the coins and looks at them with confusion and yearning.)
EXT. LONDON - ALDRICH’S HOUSE - DAY
(Alden knocks on the door and Aldrich opens it.)
ALDRICH: I’ve been expecting you, come in.
(Alden follows Aldrich into the home.)
INT. - ALDRICH’S HOUSE - LIVING SPACE - DAY
(Alden and Aldrich sit across from each other.)
ALDRICH: Can I offer you some tea?
ALDEN: No thank you, I want to be in the clearest state of mind possible here.
ALDRICH: So what ignited your appearance here?
ALDEN: I’ve been seeing these people.
ALDRICH: Who are “these people”?
ALDEN: They wear these dark robes and their eyes glow purple.
ALDRICH: Faley’s society.
ALDEN: What?
ALDRICH: Benjamin Faley, the evil man I mentioned last night. Is this what caused you to believe?
ALDEN: What are you saying?
ALDRICH: That you believe in magic.
ALDEN: You're mad.
ALDRICH: Exactly, so the fact that you came to me shows that there’s at least one lingering thought in your mind that magic is reality and reality is magic.
(There’s a moment of silence between Alden and Aldrich.)
ALDRICH: Where have you been seeing the people you mentioned?
ALDEN: Everywhere that Dewin has been.
ALDRICH: Oh no, oh no, no, no.
ALDEN: What is it?
ALDRICH: Dewin is going out with a woman tonight.
ALDEN: Already? He’s only been here for a day.
ALDRICH: He's charming but also so foolish. You must watch them, in case Faley strikes or even worse this woman is working for him.
ALDEN: What could I even do to stop that?
ALDRICH: You are destined to protect Dewin, and at this point your logic for denying all of this is purely irrational. You're not hesitating because you think it’s not real, you're hesitating because you know it is. He is meeting her at six outside of the “Griffin’s Tail”.
ALDEN: I’m not going.
ALDRICH: We both know that you will.
ALDEN: Farewell, Mister Doeth.
ALDRICH: May the spirit of Merlin be with you, Doctor Smith.
(Alden gets up and leaves.)
EXT. LONDON - GRIFFIN’S TAIL PUB - NIGHT
(Dewin stands outside of the pub when Brynn comes out of the side door and walks towards him.)
BRYNN: I wasn’t expecting you to show.
DEWIN: Why wouldn’t I?
BRYNN: Most men flirt and then leave, half of them are married.
DEWIN: They are not true gentlemen then.
BRYNN: I suppose not.
DEWIN: Shall we begin walking?
BRYNN: Sure.
EXT. LONDON - STREETS - NIGHT
(Dewin and Brynn stroll down the streets of London. Alden follows them from a distance.)
DEWIN: This world is so beautiful.
BRYNN: Compared to all the other worlds you’ve been to?
DEWIN: Well Camelot obviously has a better scenic view.
BRYNN: Camelot?
DEWIN: My home land.
BRYNN: You're full of jokes.
DEWIN: I’m not joking.
BRYNN: What?
(Suddenly someone grabs Brynn into an alleyway and she screams. Dewin quickly turns to see no one beside him and runs after her, followed by Alden.)
EXT. LONDON - ROOFTOP - NIGHT
(The clear skies suddenly turn gray and ominous as Dewin arrives on the roof of a building to see three people with glowing purple eyes in the dark purple robes and hoods with one standing in the center holding Brynn with a dagger to her neck. Alden arrives on the rooftop.)
ALDEN: Bloody hell!
DEWIN: Let go of her!
(The three people take off their hoods and their eyes go to normal shades. The person holding Brynn is revealed to be DABRIA (30s), a menacing looking woman.)
DABRIA: Dim mynd i mewn dim dianc.
(A purple hazy force field appears around the edges of the rooftop.)
DABRIA: So you are the one sent to stop us.
DEWIN: What do you connote?
DABRIA: We are the Citadel of le Fay.
DEWIN: Oh no.
DABRIA: Who are you?
DEWIN: My name is Dewin, I am the son of Merlin, and I demand that you let Brynn go.
DABRIA: Why? Is she your protector?
BRYNN: Dewin, what are they talking about!?
(Dewin starts to move his hands around and a wispy blue energy begins to come out of them.)
DABRIA: Get him!
(The two other people with Dabria rush towards Dewin to attack him, but he uses the energy he created to push them around and drop them both to the ground. Dabria drops Brynn and her dagger and Alden rushes to pick up the dagger and succeeds.)
DABRIA: You are foolish, Dewin.
(Dabria pulls a gun out of her robes and shoots it at Dewin but he turns the bullet into a flower. Dabria shoots more but each time Dewin does the same thing until Dabria is out of bullets. Alden sneaks up behind Dabria and stabs her in the back. Dabria shrieks in pain and then disappears in a cloud of black smoke. Brynn gets up off of the ground.)
BRYNN: What the hell just happened?
DEWIN: Are you okay?
BRYNN: Not mentally. What in the world is going on here? How did you turn bullets into flowers!?
DEWIN: I told you I’m from Camelot.
(Alden drops the dagger.)
ALDEN: Did I just kill that woman?
DEWIN: Most likely not, you didn’t stab deep enough to hit any organs.
BRYNN: What do we do now?
DEWIN: Go home and call it a night.
BRYNN: I can’t forget about this.
DEWIN: I’m not asking you to.
ALDEN: If any of us speak of this people think we’re insane.
DEWIN: Then don’t speak of it.
BRYNN: Will I see you again, Dewin?
DEWIN: Did you enjoy tonight?
BRYNN: I was almost killed.
DEWIN: That doesn’t answer my question.
BRYNN: Meet at the pub on Friday after my shift.
INT. TWENTY SIX WICING DRIVE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
(Alden and Minerva lay next to each other.)
MINERVA: Do you think the Citadel will return?
ALDEN: Unequivocally.
MINERVA: What have we gotten into?
INT. BENJAMIN’S LAIR - NIGHT
(A cavern full of crystals and magical runes. BENJAMIN FALEY (30s or 40s), an attractive but uptight looking man, sits on his throne. Dabria enters and walks to face the throne, she bows and then gets back up.)
BENJAMIN: Did you find him?
DABRIA: Yes, Master Faley.
BENJAMIN: And did you find his protector?
DABRIA: Yes, but it’s not the girl.
BENJAMIN: Then who?
DABRIA: A Doctor Alden Smith.
BENJAMIN: Did you kill the doctor?
DABRIA: He deeply wounded me.
BENJAMIN: Then the battle goes on.
DABRIA: For Morgana.
BENJAMIN: For Morgana.
INT. ALDRICH’S HOUSE - LIVING SPACE - NIGHT
(Aldrich and Dewin sit across from each other drinking tea.)
ALDRICH: There are many things in this world, Dewin…
INT. GWENWYN’S CAVE - NIGHT
(Gwenwyn stands in the middle of a circle of candles. She stretches out her hands and forms magic blue charts and graphs with a picture of Dewin.)
ALDRICH (VOICE OVER): Forces we can’t explain…
EXT. LONDON - ALLEYWAY- NIGHT
(Brynn wears only her undergarments and takes a few coins from a man.)
ALDRICH (VOICE OVER): Secrets we hide…
INT. BENJAMIN’S LAIR - NIGHT
(Benjamin sits on his throne.)
ALDRICH (VOICE OVER): And villains we must defeat.
INT. ALDRICH’S HOUSE - LIVING SPACE - NIGHT
ALDRICH: You are the key to this all, Dewin, you are the son of Merlin.

2024.05.20 00:55 thomzd An album from a folk/blues band

I'm looking for an album, from which I only remember the cover. It is a photo of a street with I think a motel in the background. On the foreground, there is a sign with the name of the band and/or the name of the album. The sign is illuminated by some car's headlights (but the car is not visible on the photo). The photo has been taken during sunset, and it is overall quite underexposed, very moody.
Kind of looks like Eagles' Hotel California but even more sunsetty and underexposed.
Somehow I thought it was from Fleet Foxes but I couldn't find it in their discography. I don't know if it's a clue (to the band's name) or a red herring...
Thanks for your help !

2024.05.20 00:54 Medanix_RD Quitting after almost 2 months.

Seasonal TA… never again, the amount of issues, discussions, treatment… never ending questions of lazy customers it’s abominable.
From Upper management not holding their part of the bargain to customers accusing me of “incriminating them”, what’s wrong with this company?
Got hired on the spot, they tell me “you’ll be part time with x minimum hours” next week they bump the pay 1 dollar to everyone on minimum wage and… the first week was the last week i saw a +30 hour week on my schedule (just moved to USA so i don’t have a car, i needed a job fast and ubering +20 mins from work to home and backwards)
Clients that don’t stop to think or search, just ask without even saying hello and God forbid if you are new and don’t know where stuff is, gonna get chewed like if you had to know how much time Sam Walton went to take a sh*t in his lifetime. Remember this particular 2, one accused me of incriminating him because i asked for his bday (he was pretty old so there was no point in taking the ID it) saying that i wanted to put a wrong date so he go to jail (a single bottle of wine mind you)… sir what do i gain from it? Money? Time? Neither so stfu. Other lady had a pretty pronounced accent and i barely could understand her, so i always said i don’t know where the stuff is… always laughed at me. Oh on this one i had to cover in Electronics because there was just 1 person scheduled in that zone… for like 3 days.
Gist of it was when management started cutting hours, on an area that needed so much daily work as mine with so few employees for the areas we cover, got me taking insta-payments from future checks n shit.
So yea, never again. “I’ll miss the people but not the job”.

2024.05.20 00:54 Lopsided-Plantain-54 Car advice

Hello Fellow Aucklanders, I hope all are having a top week.
As the car ownership prices are going up and the pay increases I got this year were lower than expected, I was thinking about replacing my trusty Honda Inspire Avanzare 2007 3.0l with a 2006 Lancer 2.4l with a 5-speed manual or a CR-Z(for This one I gotta finance). Went to check the Lancer out and a few concerns were,
This Lancer is best suited for my purposes cuz,
Things I know I am going to miss,
TLDR; I dunno if swapping is the right way to go. I need some advice as I am planning to stay in NZ probably forever. I am no speed demon, a Sedan that can do motorway speeds comfortably to WLG on rare occasions (Like once every 2 months) should be plenty enough for me.
I do apologize in advance for any vocabulary or grammar errors.

2024.05.20 00:53 Turbulent-Handle5488 S13 seat options.

Hello 240sx community!
Im in need of a help. Im deciding on new seats for my s13 and from all i was able to read on old forums the s15/gtr seat was go-to before shitbox prices went crazy but nowdays single s15 seat in good-ish condition (no cigarette burns and not ripped) go for like 1500. What i cant justify for 25year old seat in good-ish condition.
So before i buy new recaros with fia for kidney money. Are there any modern car swaps done for 240 ? Ive read some about people trying to fab up gtjuke nismo seats but they are too tall so even if you fit them seating position is uncomfortable.
Thanks a lot in advance for any feedback! (and sorry for my english, its not my first language)

2024.05.20 00:52 Active_Parsnip_3074 Should I give up my green card? I'm from Taiwan.

I hold a degree from a university in Taiwan and previously worked as a software engineer in a Taiwanese bank before relocating to the United States. Currently aged 30, I obtained a Green Card through marriage to my American wife, enabling me to live and work here. Initially, I sought to experience life in the United States and meet my wife's family, whom I had never met despite being married for several years.
Upon our arrival, we initially lived with her family. However, I soon discovered their household was plagued by constant quarrels, escalating to the point where I feared for our safety, often considering contacting the authorities. Despite their non-white background, they displayed racist tendencies. Throughout my marriage, they persistently criticized me and advocated for our separation. Eventually, we relocated to another state to escape the toxic environment.
Despite the change in location, I encountered difficulties securing employment in the IT sector, which is highly competitive and demanding extensive experience even for entry-level roles. Despite a year of searching, opportunities in IT, or even basic technical support, have been scarce. Additionally, my wife, having endured prolonged emotional distress from her family, is battling severe depression, making it challenging for her to seek employment.
Consequently, I've been forced to accept low-skilled jobs to sustain our livelihoods. However, the soaring cost of living in the United States means our income barely covers basic necessities. This predicament has left me uncertain about my future in this country. At one point, I even contemplated joining the US military to gain a clear career path, but my parents vehemently opposed this idea, fearing discrimination and potential marital strain.
They urge me to endure our financial struggles for another two years, hoping I can transition to a higher-paying job during this time. They've also suggested considering a return to Taiwan after attaining citizenship. Given my circumstances, what course of action do you believe would be most advisable?
