In just a few days, an anti-trans conference is set to take place under the auspices of a member of the Czech Chamber of Deputies. This conference, titled "Ztráta identity" (Loss of Identity), purports to discuss gender dysphoria and transgender issues, but its agenda reveals a deeply transphobic and harmful narrative.
The introductory statement sets the tone for what can only be described as an assault on the rights and dignity of transgender individuals. By framing gender dysphoria as a "threatening modern epidemic," the organizers of this conference perpetuate harmful stereotypes and stigmatize a vulnerable community. The alarming statistic cited regarding a purported 1000% increase in gender dysphoria diagnoses in the past decade in the USA is misleading at best and outright fear-mongering at worst.
The topics slated for discussion include:

Gender Dysphoria as a Phenomenon of Our Time: By pathologizing gender dysphoria and suggesting it is a product of contemporary society, this talk undermines the validity of transgender identities and dismisses the struggles of transgender individuals.

I am shocked and deeply disappointed that such a conference is being hosted in Poslanecká sněmovna ČR. The Chamber of Deputies should be a space for informed debate and policymaking, not a platform for spreading misinformation and hate speech. It is imperative that we hold our elected officials accountable and demand better from our institutions. Trans rights are human rights, and they must be respected and protected at all levels of society.

Chapter 48: Miller – Miller and crew arrive at Eros. Protogen’s involvement with the station has become public knowledge (and surprisingly it wasn’t Holden that told everyone) which has shifted the blame to the corporation and put the Earth-Mars war on hold. Miller and the OPA team strategically place fusion bombs on Eros and their return transport arrives, but Miller tells Diogo he’s staying behind. The next day, he heads to the outside of Eros and awaits the Nauvoo’s impact, with the Eros’ feed and his imaginary Julie keeping him company. But just before the collision, Eros shouts, “Don’t you fucking touch me!” and dodges out of the way!
Chapter 49: Holden – Understandably, everyone on the Rocinante is like WTF just happened!? Naomi explains that it can’t be magic because whatever Eros just did to move seven thousand trillion tons of rock wasted energy which they can see. So you know, just really fucking advanced science, but not magic! Eros then disappears off the radar but continues to move towards Earth at high speed. Holden and the UNN Escort Vessel agree to temporarily put their differences aside and chase Eros. Holden calls Fred and says this is a great opportunity to get everyone to work together before they all turn into vomit zombies. Fred tells Holden to call Miller and get the remote detonation codes to the bombs on Eros to maybe buy them some time.
Chapter 50: Miller – Miller tells Holden he’s still on Eros, somehow not feeling the insane movement and just hanging out upside down like a bat. Of course Holden wants to rescue Miller, but he’s like, “No bro, you get why I’m here,” and Holden drops it. Miller decides the best bet is to take the fusion bombs inside Eros to whatever is controlling it. Naomi sets him up a dead’s man switch, so now Miller has to somehow drag these heavy ass bombs around without ever lifting his finger off a button for more than 5 seconds. Miller tells Holden his last wish is to find Julie’s parents and figure out their link to Protogen, and then heads into Eros.
Chapter 51: Holden – Eros continues to travel faster and faster, and it is impossible for the Rocinante to keep up without causing serious physical damage or killing everyone on board. Fred calls and says that Earth has forgiven him after learning that he had nothing to do with Eros and, in fact, Protogen hated him. Holden doesn’t have the patience to congratulate Fred on his personal gains since his organs are about to explode. Fred says that Earth is going to launch its entire nuclear arsenal at Eros, but needs the Rocinante to bounce a laser off it so they can use its targeting system to guide their missiles. This means the crew would need to put the ship on autopilot and sacrifice themselves, which Holden isn’t super keen to do. He tells Fred he’ll think about it, but then immediately stops the ship because he refuses to let his crew (especially Naomi) die. Naomi heard everything Fred said and isn’t pleased with Holden’s decision. But no fear, he has a back-up plan! If they turn back on the OPA freighters attached to Eros, they can use their transponders to track Eros. The nukes are successfully launched and everyone’s happy until Miller calls sand says there’s a problem.
Chapter 52: Miller – It’s a struggle, but Miller manages to get into Eros which is now filled with human corpse crust and luminescent dots in the air. He realizes that to find whatever is powering the ‘ship’, he should use temperature to guide him to the hot spot. As he progresses deeper, he hears Eros talk about taking the ‘razor back’ and Miller has the biggest lightbulb moment – Julie is alive and she’s the brain of the protomolecule!
Chapter 53: Holden – Miller tells Holden to check all his vitals to clear that he’s not physically going crazy before dropping the bomb that Julie is the one driving Eros to Earth. He argues that the original protomolecule was meant to infect single-celled organisms. It is now being forced to improvise as it’s infected much more complex creatures so is using Julie and her brain as a template. Miller doesn’t think the protomolecule wants to wipe out humanity, since humans didn’t even exist when it was first launched, so if he can only speak to Julie (or what’s left of her), he can convince her to take Eros away from Earth. He agrees that if he can’t get through to her with words, he’ll use the bomb and blow up Eros, but he needs Holden to buy him some time. Naomi comes up with a plan to deflect the missiles in an arc shape and trick the UNN to not realizing what’s happening. They pitch their plan to Fred who immediately rejects it, but Holden offers him the protomolecule sample in exchange which is too good to pass up. Holden tells Miller the plan is on and that they should take Eros to Venus.
Chapter 54: Miller – Miller is looking for Julie while trying not to go insane. Visions of Holden, Havelock and Muss guide him to the backup environment control room where he finds Julie’s body. He wakes her up, introduces himself and explains the situation. Miller removes his suit helmet, letting the protomolecule infect him, and convinces Julie to head to Venus.
Chapter 55: Holden – Holden wakes up from a nightmare to a call from the UNN ship. They’ve learned about the deflected missiles and the Rocinante is in big trouble. McBride tells Holden he’s got ten minutes to deactivate the false transponders or else she’s shooting them down. Before a battle can break out, Eros reappears on the radar and everyone can see it’s heading away from Earth. It crashes into Venus, saving all of humanity from becoming vomit zombies (for now at least).
Epilogue: Fred – After the Eros crash, tensions are still high among Earth, Mars and the Belt. Fred is about to deliver a speech with the aim to establish peace between all parties. The protomolecule is NOT dead things are happening on Venus, like two kilomtere high crystal towers. So Fred’s hidden sample is the best option for finding a solution to protect humanity. Holden appears and asks if Fred can help him and his crew get amnesty and keep the Rocinante. He also wants Fred to talk about the real Miller and not turn him into a heroic Belter icon. Before his speech, Fred is tempted to go Holden’s way but ultimately labels it a “noble way to fail,” and carries on with his original plan, using Miller’s sacrifice as a tool to try and unite humanity.

I've recently had the chance to try out the TruGlo 4x32 Rangefinding/Trajectory Compensating Crossbow Scope, a nifty piece of equipment for enthusiastic crossbow users like me. The scope's main highlight was its ability to find the range and calculate the correct trajectory for my crossbow bolts. In my experience, this feature proved to be quite handy in my local archery range, particularly for those days when the wind and temperature were unstable.
One of the things that stood out to me was the scope's robustness. It was designed to handle the harsh conditions of the outdoors, as evidenced by the sturdy aluminum body and the shock-resistant construction. This scope also offered a generous 4-inch eye relief, a feature that helped protect my eyes during those blustery hunting sessions.

First off, Netanyahu's office statement reads "The Prime Minister authorized the negotiating team to present a proposal" Full statement is here in thread. Biden in his speech said "Israel has offered a comprehensive new proposal". So I think it's safe to say the outline was approved by Netanyahu.
Biden in his statement said: "Now, I’ll be straight with you. There are a number of details to negotiate to move from phase one to phase two. Israel will want to make sure its interests are protected". Yeah, I think that's a big understatement.
Phase two includes "A permanent end to hostilities" and "Israeli forces withdrew from Gaza". In Netanyahu's statement he says "[he] authorized the negotiating team to present a proposal to that end, which would also enable Israel to continue the war until all its objectives are achieved, including the destruction of Hamas's military and governing capabilities. The actual proposal put forward by Israel, including the conditional transition from one phase to the next, allows Israel to uphold these principles".
So unless I'm missing something, Netanyahu believes a negotiated "permanent end to hostilities" is supposed to allow him to end the governing capabilities of Hamas. (He says "the ACTUAL proposal". This story has a senior U.S. official saying "the Israeli proposal is very detailed and is four and a half pages long").
I think this "permanent end to hostilities" of phase two is basically pushing the hard problems down the road. In Biden speech he makes the somewhat contradictory point that the U.S. is working for a deal that "creates a better “day after” in Gaza without Hamas in power". But later in the speech he says "The people of Israel should know they can make this offer without any further risk to their own security because they’ve devastated Hamas form forces over the past eight months." So he's basically saying Hamas is degraded enough. There's probably a delta between that and Gaza without Hamas so who knows.
What I don't understand is on Netanyahu's read (or maybe it's just my read) who are they negotiating phase 3 with? Who will still be holding on to remains of hostages?
Phase three is for reconstruction. It could be that the U.S. is still hoping that negotiations for reconstruction will include a transition to a new government structure because I can't imagine the U.S. working a Hamas government and Biden said he wants a Gaza without Hamas. I guess they think they'll have leverage there. (The Times of Israel seems to connect reconstruction with a interim PA government).
In summery to me it all sounds purposely vague just to get the ball rolling with phase A. Netanyahu probably agreed because he'd be happy with phase A. In Israel there is pressure from Gantz and protesters for a plan to get hostages back. Biden is making him crazy about a ceasefire and he thinks he doesn't mind phase B because to him it's consistent with the end of Hamas. If they do it voluntarily cool and if not he'll say it's not a "permanent end to hostilities" so on with fighting.

I’m particularly interested in strategies for approaching local automotive shops and service advisors to get them to refer clients to me. What’s the best way to introduce myself and my business to them? What materials or information should I bring when I visit these shops to make a strong and lasting impression?
Here’s what I’ve considered so far:

A professional business card with my contact information and a brief overview of my services. Including QR Code and an NFC Card holder that puts all my info on a customers phone.
Sample inspection reports to showcase the quality and thoroughness of my work.
A one-page flyer or brochure that outlines the benefits of my services for their clients.
An introductory offer or discount for first-time referrals. Both to the customer AND shop, I just don't know what more to offer the shop other than returning recommendations to them for repairs AFTER vehicle purchase from my organic customer growth. Lunch? - I am unsure here.

I left the Automotive grind this year, I am ASE and Ford certified in Service advising, parts and Technician (steering/suspension, diesel, brakes, AC, General service, etc and have all the tools and diagnostic equipment you could wish for after YEARS of dealership and independent wrenching)

Mercy is a sample chapter for TWOW published in 2013. It's very old, with GRRM having written it at least as early as 2001. Mercy was supposed to reintroduce an adult Arya in "A Dance With Dragons" after an off-screen leap forward of five or six years following the end of ASOS.
Mercy as Arya's first chapter post-time jump was crucial in carrying this transition. Her entire future story hinged on it. GRRM needed to establish in a single chapter who Arya was. I'll examine Mercy as it was originally written and intended to be read.

Not Knowing Who She Was, Or Where

Mercy's central theme of identity is established in the first line:

She woke with a gasp, not knowing who she was, or where.

This line holds dual meaning; Arya doesn't know who or where she is, but nor does the reader. Remember, Arya would have last been seen on-page leaving Westeros near the end of ASOS. Subsequent lines answer the opening question (but also don't) creating the tension that will underpin the rest of the chapter:

The smell of blood was heavy in her nostrils… or was that her nightmare, lingering? She had dreamed of wolves again, of running through some dark pine forest with a great pack at her hells, hard on the scent of prey.
Half-light filled the room, grey and gloomy. Shivering, she sat up in bed and ran a hand across her scalp. Stubble bristled against her palm. I need to shave before Izembaro sees. Mercy, I’m Mercy, and tonight I’ll be raped and murdered. Her true name was Mercedene, but Mercy was all anyone ever called her…

This girl doesn't know who she is, has strange dreams of wolves, but despite this still has a true name. Which might not be her true name. And her head is shaved and she's nonchalant about her upcoming rape and murder. It's a gripping opening with a trace of GRRM's past as a television writer.
The steady drip drip of information hinting at Mercy's real identity is very like Reek's first chapter and similarly readers would have had their own realisation at different points; the opening warg wolf dream, the mention of Braavos (Arya's destination in ASOS) etc.
Arya has had to take different names at various points (Arry, Weasel, Nan etc) but here the dissociation from Stark is most acute. As in the opening line, there's a meta dimension to the entire chapter in that Arya's new identity as Mercy is reflecting the new identity Arya has to the reader as a grown 16-17 year old apprentice assassin rather than the young orphan girl they last knew. Likewise, the slow reveal of Mercy is a device to steadily reintroduce nu-Arya.
The play is yet another layer in that Arya has internalised Mercy who is portraying a Westerosi character, perhaps Shae or more ironically Sansa. Mercy herself is not a million miles away from Arya Stark; strong-willed, not taking sh*t from anyone, able to socialise with all sorts of people. The gossiping and giggling is unlike Arya though, and maybe this persona is in some way relief from the hardships she suffered. Overall Arya seems a much more deliberate, confident young woman than the insecure child of ASOS.
The killing of Raff the Sweetling and Arya's name appearing in text answer the questioned posed to both Arya herself and the reader by the opening line; Mercy is still Arya Stark underneath, and despite how much she's changed since ASOS the reader is reassured that she's still Arya.

If there is anything you want, anything at all…

What strikes the reader immediately is how sex is front and centre in this chapter. It's not set dressing or a mere device to kill Raff the Sweetling but in every single scene is emphasised and re-emphasised. Over the top even. Mercy is easily the single most sexually charged chapter in all of ASOIAF.
It's as if GRRM has dumped a bucket of ice water on the reader's head and is shouting "ARYA IS NO LONGER A CHILD. THIS IS AN ADULT WITH AN ADULT'S SEXUALITY" over and over again. It's intense shock therapy, full Manchurian Candidate to force the reader to forget whatever image they had of her in their head built from three preceding books.
It's significant that GRRM chose to establish Arya like this for her story going forward. It does look like aging her up five-six years was to introduce this sexual/romantic angle.

Valar morghulis

Interestingly there's no direct mention of the Faceless Men at all bar Arya reciting their saying at the end. No Faceless Men, no House of Black and White, no Kindly Man, no Many-Faced God, no iron coin. It seems GRRM was willing to let the institution wait for later and instead focused on how Arya had changed personally over five-six years. That GRRM didn't think the Faceless Men were worth mentioning in Arya's post-time skip intro would suggest her ultimate fate is not with them.

"The Imp weren't the only dwarf in the world"

The leading character in this chapter after Raff the Sweetling and Arya/Mercy herself is... Tyrion. Never named, sure, but definitely there by proxy. Arya is playing the role of Tyrion's victim in a play, then she trades words with Bobono the dwarf who plays Tyrion, she hears him recite lines attributed to Tyrion, and later the Lannister guardsmen reinforce the link by arguing whether the dwarf playing Tyrion really could be him.
Bobono is himself a sort of caricature of Tyrion: habitual drinker, lecherous, wannabe witty. There's an echo of Tyrion and Illyrio in Bobono and Izembaro. There's even a curious similarity in the description of their respective manhoods(!), costume and genuine:

What a hideous thing, Mercy thought as she knelt before the dwarf to fix him... The dyer had done a poor job with the leather, though; the thing was a mottled pink and white, with a bulbous head the color of a plum. -Mercy, TWOW ...
Even his manhood was ugly, thick and veined, with a bulbous purple head. This is not right, this is not fair, how have I sinned that the gods would do this to me, how? -Sansa III, ASOS

Arya and Tyrion barely interact in ASOIAF. It's a struggle to even find a moment where Arya thinks of him in passing. One rare instance is from Arya's last chapter before Mercy in ASOS:

"I forgot, you've been hiding under a rock. The northern girl. Winterfell's daughter. We heard she killed the king with a spell, and afterward changed into a wolf with big leather wings like a bat, and flew out a tower window. But she left the dwarf behind and Cersei means to have his head."

In the leaked 1993/1994 outline there is this:

Exiled, Tyrion will change sides, making common cause with the surviving Starks to bring his brother down, and falling helplessly in love with Arya Stark while he's at it. His passion is, alas, unreciprocated, but no less intense for that, and it will lead to a deadly rivalry between Tyrion and Jon Snow.

Which does recall this line:

“We were meant to be together, Mercy,” Bobono insisted. “Look, we’re just the same height.” -Mercy, TWOW

Maybe Tyrion's presence in this chapter is just to show the scope of the Imp's notoriety and how eager Cersei is to find him. But that could have been accomplished with other PoV characters, and Mercy seems very deliberately constructed.

Braavos

Mercy was supposed to be the introduction to the city of Braavos and the lengthy luscious descriptions of not-Venice serve that purpose effectively.

"I would like to see a dragon"

Several references to dragons appear in this chapter:

“It shall go ill for any man who fails me,” he promised, a threat he borrowed from the speech Prince Garin gives on the eve of battle in Wroth of the Dragonlords, Phario Forel’s first play. -Mercy, TWOW ...
“The first Black Pearl was black as a pot of ink,” said Daena. “She was a pirate queen, fathered by a Sealord’s son on a princess from the Summer Isles. A dragon king from Westeros took her for his lover.”
“I would like to see a dragon,” Mercy said wistfully. “Why does the envoy have a chicken on his chest?” -Mercy, TWOW

Arya chapters have touched upon dragons before, notably when she examines the dragon skeletons under the Red Keep.

Closing thoughts

Mercy is a compelling chapter. It's one of the most dramatic and intricate written for ASOIAF. The author had to (in one chapter) reintroduce an existing character who was very changed, had spent years off page and was also in an entirely new location. Big asks but I think he succeeded. There's a narrative economy here missing from AFFC/ADWD. It would have felt right at home as a follow-up from ASOS.
Even after scrapping the time jump GRRM really wanted to include this work and understandably so, first in AFFC before eventually pushing it to TWOW. But stripped of its original context Mercy has serious problems.
Firstly, the identity conceit falls flat when you know who the character is and there's no time skip. Arya's been in Braavos for two books now and the whole construction of the chapter in that sense is pointless. The lengthy descriptions of Braavos feel a bit pointless too, although maybe needed returning to a location 15 IRL years after the last book.
Secondly, the presented five or six years worth of personal change don't mesh with Arya's previous chapters in Braavos. It's an abrupt and unearned transformation. The sexual content feels totally disjointed for the character's age and throws suspension of disbelief out the window. It seems like poor judgement on the author's part to plough ahead regardless and have an 11-year-old femme fatale seducing and killing a man, or being touched non-consensually. It's just strange and uncomfortable.
All that said Mercy is an intriguing glimpse of an alt universe where GRRM's writing stayed on track, he somehow got the time jump to work, and the books were wrapped up before the tv series even premiered.

Surah Al-Hajj, the 22nd chapter of the Holy Quran, stands as a majestic pillar within the Islamic faith. And We cause whom We will to remain in the wombs for an appointed term, then We bring you out as infants, then (give you growth) that you may reach your age of full strength. And among you there is he who dies (young), and among you there is he who is brought back to the miserable old age, so that he knows nothing after having known. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down water (rain) on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells and puts forth every lovely kind (of growth). (Quran 22:5)
That is because Allah, He is the Truth, and it is He Who gives life to the dead, and it is He Who is Able to do all things. (Quran 22:6)
Verily, those who believe (in Allah and in His Messenger Muhammad SAW), and those who are Jews, and the Sabians, and the Christians, and the Magians, and those who worship others besides Allah, truly, Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection. Verily! Allah is Witness over all things. (Quran 22:17)

And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, they will come from every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Hajj). (Quran 22:27)
That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e. reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade, etc.), and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah), over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice) (at the time of their slaughtering by saying: Bismillah, WAllahu-Akbar, Allahumma Minka wa Ilaik). Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor who have a very hard time. (Quran 22:28)
Then let them complete the prescribed duties (Manasik of Hajj) for them, and perform their vows, and circumambulate the Ancient House (the Ka’bah at Makkah). (Quran 22:29)
That (Manasik prescribed duties of Hajj is the obligation that mankind owes to Allah), and whoever honours the sacred things of Allah, then that is better for him with his Lord. The cattle are lawful to you, except those (that will be) mentioned to you (as exceptions). So shun the abomination (worshipping) of idol, and shun lying speech (false statements). (Quran 22:30)
Hunafa’ Lillah (i.e. to worship none but Allah), not associating partners (in worship, etc.) unto Him and whoever assigns partners to Allah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had thrown him to a far off place. (Quran 22:31)
Thus it is [what has been mentioned in the above said Verses (27, 28, 29, 30, 31) is an obligation that mankind owes to Allah]. And whosoever honours the Symbols of Allah, then it is truly from the piety of the heart. (Quran 22:32)
In them (cattle offered for sacrifice) are benefits for you for an appointed term, and afterwards they are brought for sacrifice unto the ancient House (the Haram – sacred territory of Makkah city). (Quran 22:33)
And for every nation We have appointed religious ceremonies, that they may mention the Name of Allah over the beast of cattle that He has given them for food. And your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God Allah), so you must submit to Him Alone (in Islam). Whose hearts are filled with fear when Allah is mentioned; who patiently bear whatever may befall them (of calamities); and who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and who spend (in Allah’s Cause) out of what We have provided them. (Quran 22:35)
And the Budn (cows, oxen, or camels driven to be offered as sacrifices by the pilgrims at the sanctuary of Makkah.) We have made for you as among the Symbols of Allah, therein you have much good. So mention the Name of Allah over them when they are drawn up in lines (for sacrifice). Then, when they are down on their sides (after slaughter), eat thereof, and feed the beggar who does not ask (men), and the beggar who asks (men). Thus have We made them subject to you that you may be grateful. (Quran 22:36)
It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him. Thus have We made them subject to you that you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you. And give glad tidings (O Muhammad SAW) to the Muhsinun (doers of good). (Quran 22:37)

And strive hard in Allah’s Cause as you ought to strive (with sincerity and with all your efforts that His Name should be superior). He has chosen you (to convey His Message of Islamic Monotheism to mankind by inviting them to His religion, Islam), and has not laid upon you in religion any hardship, it is the religion of your father Ibrahim (Abraham) (Islamic Monotheism). It is He (Allah) Who has named you Muslims both before and in this (the Quran), that the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) may be a witness over you and you be witnesses over mankind! So perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), give Zakat and hold fast to Allah [i.e. have confidence in Allah, and depend upon Him in all your affairs] He is your Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.), what an Excellent Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.) and what an Excellent Helper! (Quran 22:78)

As Abraham (PBUH) prepares to make the sacrifice, God (SWT) intervenes, providing a ram as a substitute (Quran 22:36-37).
