FIRST off let me say it was his idea to share locations to begin with. We’ve been having a lot of issues lately regarding not spending time together. He is always working 4 am- 10 am then 10 am-5pm & lately he’s spending a lot of times at his moms house. I work a full time Job and never have any time to myself I’m always taking care of the kids I do 95 percent of everything for them. While cleaning the house. He does the cooking or he buys the food if we eat out. I feel like we spend no time together on top of feeling like I have no life. The other night he left work early and our dog had to get a rabies vaccine. He had time to stop home before tending to his grandma but I still had to take an extra long lunch break to take the dog to get it done. Even though technically it’s his dog I told him I didn’t want a dog but I take more care of it then he does. So anyway besides the point. The other night he was at his moms I could see his location and he said he wouldn’t be long. He ended up running errands for her at 11 o’clock at night . And I could see it from his location. I was pissed and confronted him about why why never spend time together and he could do that for her but can’t help me out with HIS dog or spend time with me. He turned it off that night and hasn’t turned it back on since. I finally decided to ask him what’s up. We’ve shared it for 5 years and you just turn it off now. Saturday night he spent the whole night out and didn’t come home. I did confirm where he was but I was up all night and couldn’t sleep. And that’s not something he typically does. It would’ve saved me a nights sleep if I had the location since he stopped communicating with me. I asked him about the location and this is how the convo went. I really need input and another perspective about this.
I called him on the phone to ask him then his phone died so he text me back
Him : Babe do as you please. My location settings is off which means I can’t see your location anyhow. When I turn it back on you can see mine.
Me : I know that babe but why do you turn it off ? You either want to share or you don’t. That’s what I’m asking babe. You never used to just shut it off so I am confused as to the random ons and offs.
Him: Cause I’m not worried about it. I feel like shit though babe
Me: I am worried about it though. So do you want to just turn it off and be done with it ? Cause it would’ve came in handy when I was wondering where you were on Saturday night all night. Would’ve saved me some anxiety.
Him: Do what you want babe. Thank you babe. What time y’all leaving?
Me: I don’t know but I’m asking you collectively. It was your idea to share the locations to begin with and I’m telling you something is bothering me. It’s literally as simple as pressing a button to fix it. If you don’t want to do that babe let me know.
Him: I’ll press the button when it’s important babe. It’s not like I can see yours. That’s all I have to say about it. Are yall going to the aquarium or the boys being bad.
Me: We’ve done it for 5 years I don’t understand why it’s suddenly different now though suddenly you aren’t worried about it ? Right when we’re going through hard times. We are about to go I’ve got to get myself together.
Him: Why are you pressing it so bad like I go so many damn places? Like damn it’s not that serious especially when I’m a call or FaceTime away. Because I don’t care to turn it on unless I’m in an unfamiliar place where you got to worry about me. As of now I don’t do shit I only go to family house so I’ll turn it on when I need to.
Me: Then what was the point of all this time having it on constantly ?
Him: Why is this even a debate? We shouldn’t even be going back and forth over this. It’s not even that serious Smfh. Let’s just spark more problems
Me: I just figured turning it back on would be a simple fix but I’ll just be quiet. My reasoning is that I’m used to it so I wanna know what’s different now. Clearly there was a change of heart for some reason. But it’s ok. Do what you think is best.
Him: Why do you go through these phases? Drilling shit in your head so that you put yourself in a bad place
Me: If your spouse does something for years then suddenly changes it puts you in a weird mindset. Especially when there’s no compromising or reason behind it.
Am I wrong ? Am I overreacting or acting controlling ? I just feel there was no explanation as to why especially when we’re not going through the best time in our marriage why wouldn’t you just want to put your wife’s mind at ease ??

Also I was typing this in an emotional state Saturday night he said he was drunk I told him just stay the night. I’ve told him that before and he never has he always said he would always find a way home to me even if that meant sobering up. After a few texts I didn’t hear from him for the rest of the night . Idk if that changes anything I just thought it was important information that may need to be added….

How the Indians Obtained Dogs
There lived alone one winter a hunter, his wife and their only child, a little boy of four years.

The wolf disappeared, and the hunter examined the bow that had been given him.
It was much smaller than his own, and seemingly much inferior.
Yet he remembered the wolf’s instructions and when he heard it driving the buffalo toward him, he took up the small bow and shot six animals, one after another.
When the seventh and last buffalo approached him, however, he took up his own box and shot.
The animal escaped.

“I killed six with your bow and arrows.
For the last one I used my own bow, and it escaped.”

They would even allow her to harness travois to their backs.

I saw a post on one of the CPTSD subreddits and it made something huge click. Therapy's not until next week so I wanted to talk about it with someone. I was raised by my NGrandparents who were only ever my legal guardians. But my grandma and I moved to another state when i was 1 while my grandpa stayed behind until he could retire.
When I was little (between 1-6 years old) my grandma liked to treat me like a doll, but expected she could put me down when she was bored. I remember she dropped me off at her brother's trailor a lot. He lived nearby with his wife.
He was a heavy smoker and died of a heart attack when I was 6. For the longest time, i didnt think it affected me. I would always say I was lucky to not know grief until my cousin died when I was 19.
Today I remember the rest. She dropped me off at his trailor a lot. Now that the memories are back, it's the majority of my memories from that time. I grew up in that trailor park, despite my caregiver being unemployed in the suburbs. That house had 5 rooms, she always hid from me, and when i was there i was cooking and cleaning and housekeeping until i moved for college. She didn't even bother to look at me when I was there.
I remember the trees, and how the soil smelled. This was in the desert, so I remember the adobe and how it looked with sunset's light, i remember mesquite wood and seed pods and fire pits and cigarettes and beer and spicy air at dinner time. I remember Fleetwood Mac playing on their radio, the crochet in the trailor, cheetos and cucumber gatorade. I remember the cats and dogs and snakes and ground squirrels, i remember a tire swing, and i remember the neighbors were friendly. I remember feeling dread and sadness when my grandma's car rolled in, i remember the gravel crunching and hot tears on my face. I remember the lesbian couple who gave us their cat, and when my grandma gave him back but told me he left because i was a bad kid.
My uncle taught me how to get stuffies from the claw machines. We used to plug quarters at a bowling alley i think? I just remember the toys. He gave me a lot of toys. My grandma gave them all away.
I remember seeing him on his death bed. I remember feeling scared but being told not to be. I remember not knowing what to say to him and being chastised instead of guided. I remember being in my grandma's car after he died, and her telling me I'm not allowed to be sad because he was her brother and he meant nothing to me. I couldn't possibly understand her feelings so I needed to shut the hell up and stop bothering her. I remember she started talking shit about his wife. She apparently said something to her about how she treated me, cause i remember her being very angry about how she was my mother not this woman. After he died we never spoke to her again. I wasn't allowed to be sad about that either.
I've been crying for a few hours now. I've reached the shaking-with-rage part. Who does that to a kid? You're the one who neglected me and dropped me off with people who cared about me. He was my family too and I wasn't even allowed to mourn him. I always said "my grandma's brother died" and couldn't understand why people felt sorry for me too. It's because my feelings mattered. I just wasn't allowed to think it.

So my wife, 5 kids (ages12-23 from 3 different mothers) and I just moved into a 4 bedroom house + Den. We have 3 cats... An orange one (I call him dumbass), a Maine coon (I call him fat ass) and a black and white one (I call her whoreo). We've only lived here for a few weeks and currently I'm not working so I'm using my handyman skills to do some repairs. Now my 2 oldest daughters room is in the attic (or den as they called it) that they share. Now I may be over reacting but dumbass, fatass and whoreo all absolutely refuse to go up to the attic and when forced they hiss, growl and swat at things that we can't see. Along with little things like Stephanie's dolls being found where she knows she didn't put them (always in their room but not on the walls shelves) or Laura's pictures constantly falling off the wall or being found at a weird angle. The cats always run out of the room and look to the roof, hissing and growling and even chittering (my best description of dumbasses noise/action).
I wa always told cats/dogs can feel the presence of spirits even though we can never see them. I recently lost a brother and my wife recently lost an uncle, so I'm just curious it's this just me and my families paranoid mind over-reacting or is this something we should take seriously??
Those pictures that are found at weird angles include our kids and either her uncle or my brother so my mind is racing trying to find a sensical reasoning behind all this stuff.... The only thing is ALL this happens when we are IN this house.
This house was built in 1932 and has a colored history to say the least.... Burnt down once by arson in 1965 in which 1 person died, rebuilt in 1969 and in 1977 the new owner killed himself in the attic in what she (real estate agent) claimed was a "firearm accident".
Don't know if we believe the real estate agent (Re/Max) about these incidents but why would she lie??
So what should I do??.... Already smudged the place with a Nakota Sioux elder and that didn't seem to help. We not moving as buying this house kinda put me and the wife in debt bad but it was the PERFECT house for our family.
Honestly if it was just me seeing these things I would say it was time to quit smoking weed but my wife plus all 5 kids are witnessing these things so I know it just ain't in my head.... My 2 youngest (both boys) (12 and 15) refuse to go up to the attic. My middle daughter (age 16) will only spend a few minutes up there before coming down and telling us she feels like someone is watching her. And no she said it ain't the eldest 2. That really freaks me and the wife out.The cats won't even go near the steps to the attic. My wife won't even go up there, she'll either yell at the 2 girls or come get me to go get the girls if we leaving, having supper etc.....
Please any advice would be greatly appreciated

I honestly just have no idea what to do with myself. I’m 35 and my life is rapidly going down the tube. I’m at a job I hate because I need the money now more than ever, my wife left me, I’m being forced to leave my nice apartment to move into a shitty one because she left, my closest friend love 4 hours away and has his own things to deal with, I’m drowning in debt from a mix of poor decisions and the American healthcare system, and that debt is only going to get worse once we start divorce proceedings. She took the dog too so I can’t even vent to the animal. Online dating is a scam. Probably doesn’t help that I’m overweight either but I’m trying to fix that one as it’s the only thing I have full control over. Only matches I get are scammers and foreigners looking to get a visa (fuck 90 day fiancé).
I’m so overwhelmed, angry, sad, frustrated, and just feel like everything is collapsing around me. I have no one to talk to about it or help in any way. This whole year has proven to me that even the people closest to you can’t be trusted when push comes to shove. I feel like the last 10 years of my life have been a complete waste of time. I’m worse off than I was back then and I was pretty not much better then either.
I thought we’d be together through forever. It’s what she always told me. It’s what she vowed to me when we got married. I wasn’t perfect, but I tried. I would do anything and everything for her but it wasn’t enough. I’ve been in therapy and it helped for a while, but it’s just not working anymore. I thought at this point in my life things would be different. I thought I’d be living at least something close to the stereotypical American dream. Loving wife, decent house, maybe a couple of kids. A few friends that come over occasionally for a party or some other event. Instead I’m an overweight 35 year old soon to be divorcee in massive debt stuck in a dead end job living in a crappy apartment. I thought I’d be happy but instead life gave me the finger. No one wants me, no one needs me, and pretty much no one cares about me.
I don’t even know why I’m bothering to write this tbh. It doesn’t accomplish anything except letting me vent a few negative feelings out. I wish I could just erase the last 10 years from existence, but I know I can’t. Maybe time will make things better, but so far it hasn’t. Everything just keeps getting worse. I’m not seeing any bright light at the end of the tunnel or any silver lining.
Like the title says I don’t even know what to do anymore.

My (ex) wife and I agreed to separate on January 23rd of this year (separation, we have not yet divorced). Since then, I have records of bank transfers proving I have sent her, as of today, $27,800 which includes covering her personal bills, children’s expenses and heour mortgage, as well as her pet’s needs. She has continued to ask for more money, threatening me that she will lose the house because I “will not” send more.
I had recently found out she is purchasing medical marijuana illegally with the help of her co-worker who uses his medical marijuana card to purchase it for her. This is happening with the money that I am sending her, while being told she cannot provide a home for my children unless I send her more.
When I moved out, about a week later her mother bought her a THIRD dog (which I firmly said we could not afford to do before I moved out). Not only has this of course already been a new financial blow for her, she is not caring for them at all. I still go to the house on most evenings when she is working to meet my parents who drop the kids off once I’m there after finishing my job. She is not feeding the dogs before she goes to work, saying I have to do it when I am there to take care of my kids, but on top of that, she is also not cleaning up multiple spots of feces and urine all over the back deck, which last time I was there, it was literally surrounding all of our kid’s toys/play area/slide etc.
As of last week I began addressing this to her and firmly letting her know that if she cannot take care of these kids, these animals and continues to make irresponsible decisions with the money I send her, I will have to take the kids. I am in no way threatening this, I am being as clear as I can with her to let her understand that I want her to do better and I want these kids to have us both in their lives equally (or kids are 5, 4 and almost 2). But this is just beyond disgusting and something has to give. She has refused acknowledge any of it, yet continues to ask me for more money. It is damn near scary behavior with how she is treating the situation.
A couple days ago I met with SPCA and animal control to get advice on what to do. I even let her know what I was doing to hopefully get her to understand how serious this is. The next day when I came to the house to watch the kids, the dogs were gone. She is now hiding them at her parent’s house when I am there while still refusing to acknowledge the situation at hand.
I already have a case number to file for a restraining order after she hit me months ago for recording even more questionable behavior (yes, I do take responsibility for not acting sooner and I will never forgive myself for that. I really wanted to believe she would change). I had planned on tomorrow contacting the officer to file the order, as well as try to work with CPS to get the kids out of the house and into mine. My hope was to just pick them up from my parents house and we go from there, depending on the direction and recommend of CPS to ensure it’s handled appropriately.
However, I come home tonight and there is a summons to court on my door from her requesting $3k in spousal support and and additional $1.5k in child support, which coincidentally is still less than I’ve already been voluntarily given her on average every month since the separation.
Any ideas or recommendations, I would truly appreciate it. I have absolutely everything documented, is it possible to go to the court tomorrow to show them what I have regarding all I mentioned above? I do not want my kids living in that environment any longer than they have to be and I purposely moved to a great place/area for them, assuming that eventually, I would have to step up one day.

I (18 F) live with my husband who’s in the Navy (19 M). When he was in training, he had a roommate who I’m gonna call Eric (20 M). He got his orders a few months back so we moved and what do you know, Eric gets the same orders too. Same EXACT orders. Same city, same ship, same birthing (where they sleep), same job, same job level (job and job level are two different things), same everything; meaning they were gonna be stuck together for the next five years.
Now I haven’t ever had a problem with Eric. As far as I knew, he pretty much just kept to himself and played video games. I knew he had a wife, but I didn’t know much about her initially, never really heard about her until Eric started coming to our apartment to hang out.
It’s important to note that he got married while he was in A-School so his BAH didn’t process for months, meaning he was legally required to live on the ship until his BAH kicked in. Because of this, his wife who we’ll call Diane (19 F) couldn’t move here to live with him yet.
During the first two and a half months here, Eric would occasionally come over and spend the night. One of the times he was at our place, he gave me Diane’s Snapchat because I had mentioned that I wasn’t good at making friends and was worried I’d be lonely. For anyone who doesn’t know, companionship of some kind is crucial when your spouse goes on deployment as it can get extremely lonely and make you feel isolated. Even if it’s just a dog, you need to have support.
Diane texted me first, introducing herself and asking about things I liked, hobbies, pets, family, etc. We seemed to have a lot in common and I quickly became an outlet for her when Eric and her fought (which was frequently because he was unloyal). I didn’t mind being an outlet for her and was even thrilled she trusted me enough so soon to open up like she did.
We ended up growing close in a short amount of time. So much so, that when she was visiting for their anniversary, I’m the one that picked her up from the airport and I even let her stay at our place. That visit ended up bringing us even closer because I had to spend the whole night nursing her back to health after she got black out drunk and threw up all over my whole bathroom..and I mean the WHOLE bathroom.
About a month and a half after her visit, BAH kicked in and she moved up here and into an apartment with Eric. They invited us over to watch the solar eclipse and have dinner and we ended up spending the night there.
That was just the start to a shit ton of nights spent at her place. From that point on, we have spent damn near every day at their place. Ik you might be wondering how the hell she could even begin to look fake but just hear me out.
Both Eric and my husband (who I’ll call Nick) work the same shift. The night shift. Before Diane moved here, I was used to spending nights alone as Nick had to sleep/ work on the ship frequently but she was scared to be home alone so being a good friend, I went to her place for the night. This became a recurring thing. We have three cats at home so I’d have to remind Nick to stop at our place to feed them, give them water, and change their litter after work every day. The bare minimum amount of care they needed, which made me feel extremely guilty.
Soon, we barely spent any time at our own apartment, which really bothered me because we pay to live there and literally have pets. As time went on, Diane seemed to get more comfortable and by comfortable, I mean rude.
I have a spitfire personality. Diane claims she mirrors other personalities, but in this case, she multiplies it by ten then gives it back. Soon, every time I started to speak, she started mocking me or making the stankest face. Normally things like that don’t bother me, but it was nonstop.
Eventually, I got fed up with being a bum ass mom to my cats and said we needed to spend more time at home, to which Nick agreed. I told Diane that I felt she avoided my place and to show me I was wrong, she reluctantly agreed to spend the night at my place this time. It lasted all of about four hours before she went home since her two dogs barked nonstop the whole time she was gone.
From that point on, she had an excuse (the dogs) but also refused anything I suggested to prevent barking. For example, let one free roam and out the other in a room. Nothing I suggested was good enough for her. Either way though, Nick and I stuck to our word and stayed at our own place.
Today we went out to the aquarium. Any time I would give my phone to Nick to take a pic of me, she’d shove her own phone in Eric’s hand and run to the spot and start posing. And no. She wasn’t trying to take a pic with me. She was simply trying to beat me to it. She did it pretty much the entire time.
After, we went on a double date to a steakhouse and the way she spoke to me felt very belittling. It’s important to note that I have a passion about everything space and took a course in college on it with the intention of eventually getting my degree in general Astronomy.
While we were at dinner she started asking me basic space knowledge thinking I was going to get the answers wrong. By the way, she is fully aware of the extent of my knowledge. One of the questions was “can you even name all the planets?”. The way she asked was condescending and Nick could tell I was beginning to get offended though it was clear that Diane had no clue.
After dinner, we were all supposed to go back to our place to hang out but she found another excuse not to. After her excuse, I decided I needed space from her but still haven’t told her. She has extremely selfish tendencies, has a know-it-all type of attitude (I have never heard her admit being wrong even when she clearly was), and treats me like I’m either below her or just dumb, depending on the day.
She constantly comments on the things I eat (normally leftovers that were kept in the fridge) saying I’m disgusting and making jokes about it to Eric. She laughs like it’s all in good fun but it’s extremely passive aggressive.
I can’t completely stop being friends since our husbands work together and don’t want to have issues with one another for the next five years but I’m not sure how long I can tolerate the constant one sided battle for.

Thinking about heading to Bend, Oregon, USA next month for some riding and wanted to get some recommendations. It’s my 3-year old son who rips the pump tracks and (really easy/short) green trails, my wife and myself who both ride. Also may bring my 14-year old dog who just chills these days.
Any recommendations on riding spots? I like stuff where my son can do laps on pump tracks and skills areas while my wife and I spin quick laps on more advanced trails (like Duthie Hill near Seattle). I wanted to do some down hill but it looks like Bachelor won’t be open.
Any recommendations or place to eat and drink? Breweries that are kid and dog friendly?
Any recommendations where to stay? We are looking at seventh mountain area right now. Bend is pricey!

I adopted a dog from the local dog shelter. They told me the owner was a breeder and had too many dogs and had to surrender them. They claimed it was a hoarding situation and the dog is skiddish so it must have been abused. They said the dog was 4 yo. They painted it like this dog was never loved and petted.
I ended up finding the breeder. There was some paper work with a vet in a town far from me and low, I looked the type of dog up and no question these are the breeders. It's an old lady and man, they have videos of my dog as a puppy- the paperwork that originally came with the dog had a birthday of tomorrow... The dog is just a year old. I don't understand how he turned into a 4 yo dog along the way when all his papers followed him.
They seem like sweet people online...and I know you put your best self online buuut these guys seem like they don't exactly know how to do that. They're in their late 70s and they're the type that would type a search in the update bar on Facebook. They have 20 min videos hugging the puppy, and just of the floor walking all over their house because they didn't know how to edit it out, you know? They made updates of him every month. Videos of him running around wagging his tail playing with other dogs. Concerns that no one adopted him but all of his sisters... They post pictures they get from people that got dogs from them and visits they have with them. They claim to help clients after adoption with behavioral issues or boarding. They request you meet the dogs before buying and bringing pictures of your home and having a couple meetings.
He seems like a good, well trained dog but just scared of everything.... But perhaps that's because he had to leave his home and was transfered to different dog shelters for months before he ended up getting adopted? And when we got him home after the first two initial days of him sleeping all day, he wanted to sit on mine and my sons lap. And yeah they had a farm, with a bunch of dogs, the big ones that didn't go to homes... They show them running around, and sleeping in their huge barn. A little excessive.
I dug deeper on the wife's personal page and found the husband went to the hospital a month before they surrenderee the dog (s?). The husband is still alive, he's posted a few memes and people in his family respond to him on Facebook... But they quit posting on their breeder page.
They just seem like they cared about the animals and something bad happened and the lady couldn't do it by herself. And the picture of them being hoarding abusing people might not be accurate given the amount of times the dog moved and it ends up being a big telephone game- where the dog turns into a 4 yo and of course the owners were bad, the dog was surrendered and scared!
I want to email them and just tell them the dog is safe and in a happy home with a little boy to grow up with. I feel like I would have wanted to know.
My husband and his friend think just leave it be. Thebold breeders may get angry because it wasn't their decision to let their dogs go and demand money from us or just open an old scar for them. They were going to sell the dog after all.

Puppy: 6 1/2 month giant schnauzer 45lb Older: 10 year old miniature schnauzer 14lb
So ve noticed a little bit of food aggression(with dog only) and barrier aggression with our puppy and had taked steps to start counter conditioning. Weve also noticed she does NOT respond well to corrections from our older dog resulting in aggression, growling and bared teeth.
Today my wife opened the door on to the dogs and bumped the puppy into our old dog, either she stepped on him or squished him and he corrected her...well she didnt take that well and bit him around the neck hard enough to break skin and cause bleeding and(maybe?) Shook him a little. My wife started screaming and pulled the puppy off our older dog and she ran away.
We already have our puppy enrolled in what seems like a very reputable dog training program and go once a week. (In addition to training her every day on our own.) We have another 3 months of this training program. And have gone to two classes so far.
What do we do next, how do we move forward? There been a few scuffles but this is definitely a new level and ita to the point where i cannot go to work and trust a dog fight wont break out while im gone.(even an accidental one)
Worried for our older dog. And wondering if these two will ever bond.

My wife (38F) and I (39M) have been together for 12 years. I don't know how to describe it other than calling it the perfect relationship. I think in 12 years we've only ever gotten to the point of really raising our voices at one another maybe 2 or 3 times? We do everything together but always have never had issues allowing each other to lead our own lives and follow our own interests. We bought a house where we wanted.... we both have good high paying jobs that have great work life balance. Basically it's been everything short of perfect.
We've been trying for 2 years to get pregnant and it hadn't been happening. We were just about to start the fertility stuff when I came home from a work trip, and guess what she's pregnant. I had this weird instant thought of.... Wait I thought we didn't try during the week last month because of the fertility testing... But I couldn't remember exactly because to be honest... We were busy at it. So I just assumed I miss remembered.
Now, I travel around the country pretty regularly for work. Other than COVID, I've been on the road as much as 40 weeks a year sometimes. Since COVID its been less but still more than a week a month.
Over the last 4-5 years my wife has gotten very friendly with a guy she works with, let's call him Matt. Matt is slightly younger, I think 34M or so. I know him, he's married, I know his wife. They've worked together for I think 7 years or so. He's always been around, him and I have been friendly. Have I ever thought something was happening? No, but I've always thought.... You'd be a fool to not think there's even a 1% chance your spouse would go outside the relationship. Maybe I'm naive, but I've always seen it as a safeguard to not take my wife or any other partner in the past for granted. She's never given me a reason to think she'd do that. But anything is possible.
So about a month ago I'm out of state for work and she's at home. I ask her what she's doing earlier in the day and she says Matt is coming by for dinner. Not out of the ordinary, Matt comes by from time to time. Sometimes with his wife, sometimes without, sometimes when I'm not there. I don't think much of it.
We have a security system which includes cameras both inside and outside of the house which we installed after an unrelated incident a few years ago. They record and are live accessable by both her and I. I often use those cameras to check on the dog when I or both of us are away, as the rest of the system is monitored by a company Incase of an alarm going off.
She knows I check those cameras, there's a system installed where I can talk through them. I'll mess with my wife and she will with me on them if either of us are out of town (she travels for work as well, but far less than I do). Point is, it's known that I check them often when I'm not at home.
So I turn on the camera and I see my 4 months pregnant wife, lying on the floor, on her side with Matt sitting, straddling her legs and using a foam roller to message her hips. So I'm like.... Ok... What the fuck is this. I start rewinding through the footage and they are eating and talking normally, but then they get on the couch and get under the same blanket. Now...... They are feet to feet, but that couch isn't that big. Then they move to the floor and that's when I logged in.
Anyway I text her, I'm still watching the cameras they both look like deer in headlights and he very quickly leaves. We get into an argument she isn't mad at me accusing her but she's adamant that nothing has or ever would happen, and that what I saw was innocent and she was complaining about being in pain from the pregnancy.... Which I know is true shes already having some issues with back pain etc.. The biggest point of that discussion was I asked "If I were there would you two have been comfortable doing any of that Infront of me" and she reluctantly admitted... No probably not. I told her I didn't want to talk after that and we'd talk when I got home 3 days later.
That's when It hit me..... What if my weird gut moment feeling about her telling me she was finally pregnant, was... This. What if my 1% happened and this is not my child we are having?
Now, it eats away at my while I'm at a hotel alone a thousand miles away for 3 days. I reconcile with myself that... I think it's less likely than more likely that something between them has happened. But Basically my 1% just jumped to.... 10% 20% maybe?
I get home and she's on eggshells and doesn't mention it. I kinda wait to see what she's going to do. 2 days later she finally brings it up and breaks down. Swears nothing has happened she would never. Doesn't do anything over the top to try and prove anything... Which I took as a good sign. But anyway we talk out the issue and everything to a point of at least moving forward for now. I'm still coping and dealing with it figuring out how to re trust after all this time.
I'm getting more and more understanding of the fact that they are friends they've been friends for so long, maybe he has intentions.... But I don't see her having any and I've never really picked up on it and I've spent time around both of them together many many times, and never caught anything.
So the thing that is destroying me right now is.... If I'm wrong and something did happen... While I can figure out how to deal with that... What if that child isn't mine. In the argument and few long conversations we've had about the situation since I've never brought that up, and she's not mentioned it. Mostly because I don't want to make the situation worse and crush her if infact she's telling the truth, which I mostly Believe.
The only thing I can think to do at this point is to wait until the baby is born and immediately order a paternity test in secret. Should I do that? Should I tell her and have it dealt with now? If you're a woman in her shoes and you're telling the truth, would that destroy you, or your view of me? If you're lying what would you do if I asked? I don't want to ask a super vague question but..... What do I do?!
TLDR: very small chance my wife of 12yrs had an affair and she's 4 months pregnant and I can't bring myself to ask for a paternity test for fear of crushing her if nothing actually happened. But I am planning on doing it in secret when the baby comes. What do I do?

2 some have made some good points about addressing it now rather than later and that's something that I'm considering more than I was before, thank you.
3 to those focused only on my relationship. I get it but that's not what I'm focused on. We've been talking about it a lot. My wife and I are pretty open people with each other. I'm not saying I'm convinced nothing happened but I'm more focused on paternity right now.
4 if I need to track, spy on, life360, my wife. Then this relationship is over already. That's not the relationship we have and not one that I ever want, and in my opinion not one anyone should ever have. We are working on rebuilding trust. As I said in this long winded post my default of 1% possibility went up to 10% or so. Trust me I'm taking my relationship seriously but to those I've said this to already. If the kid isn't mine, then there's no longer any conversation to have.
5 I've already had this discussion with my lawyer, I don't live in a state where the birth certificate stuff will be an issue. If I have paperwork that this child isn't mine than divorce isn't going to be much of an issue. Both of us are in an independent financial situation where it won't matter much regardless.
I'll keep up with this post as long as I can and post an update when and if anything gets resolved.

So she was out of state on a business trip until late last night. It's Friday so she worked from home in our kitchen. So I asked to talk and brought it up and asked for a test.
She immediately said yes and said there's zero doubt and nothing that she'd even have a second to worry about. But she has no problem doing it now. The only caveat I left it with is. If it's invasive at all per our doctors then I'm ok waiting until it's low risk. (I'm not a doctor, no clue what they'd have to do to do it now)
So not sure when we are. But she's aware and we are getting one. It was a decent and longer conversation. We are currently sitting together getting lunch. She's got no clue I did this on Reddit. Hence the new account because she is on here somewhere.
Thank you everyone for your help and opinions, a bunch of you made me realize that we are already really open about everything and if nothing happened then she wouldn't worry about getting one.
I was more worried about her health and adding some insane level of stress if it was an issue as she's an at risk pregnancy and it took soooooo long for us to get pregnant.
So again thank you all for the help. I suppose I can update if it's mine or not but I'm not sure how long that will be. I'm... 90-95% sure it is mine. But this will help us continue this conversation.

Update: just because it seems to be more of a topic on this post vs the other one for some reason.... Yes I have the footage. No I haven't talked to Matt yet. He's told her he wants to talk about it but I've told them to wait on that. My relationship with my wife and the paternity is what's important right now. I will eventually talk with Matt.
No I'm not going to get Matt's wife involved intentionally. I don't know why I would other to just be vindictive. I'm not going to cover for him obviously but his relationship is his. And mine is mine. I'm not interested in making this worse. Whatever is going on between him and his wife isn't any of my business.

We've talked about it at length nothing is being ignored. I could write you an essay about our past, her reasons and my feelings on it. But instead I'll just say. I'm aware of it. She's claiming innocence of anything further but at the same time admitting that it wasn't a good look but she wasn't thinking about it at the time. And that's what we are currently working through.

They are both upper management in their company. And at my company I have long term friends that are women. I've traveled with them we've done dinner and hung out in hotel rooms together. But I've never done anything because, that's not me. I'm married and love my wife and my life. I have no reason to.

It’s a long post, so I apologize.
My husband (28M) and I (25F) have been married for 3 years. We moved in together very quickly, about 2 months into long distance dating, but I knew I wanted to be with him from the beginning. It was an adjustment, but it happened right before COVID and we made it through perfectly fine.
Prior to meeting my husband, I had some mental health issues and was struggling right before I met him and these issues continued into the first bit of our relationship. I was depressed, extremely anxious and took adderall that his friends girlfriend gave me (something I had previously had an issue with), causing a rift in their friendship. I’ll be honest, I was not a good girlfriend in the beginning. I was always suspicious, insecure, etc. I am extremely grateful that my now-husband gave me grace during this time and allowed me the space to work on myself. He was gone for 6 months in year 2 and I completely cleaned up my act. I was still anxious, but I went to therapy, worked on being more secure, started working out, etc. It’s now been 4 years since that time and I would describe myself as an extremely stable, rational person and a good wife at this point.
Fast forward to now, my husband is extremely depressed and his life revolves around a sports team. He refuses to get help or do anything to help himself. He is shattered every time this team loses to where I have to talk him off a ledge every time and is even more depressed during every off season. The reason for his depression is unavoidable for the next 2 years, but he refuses to do anything to help himself in the situation. He is combative every time I have an issue, he is hostile about anything that doesn’t fit his desires, selfish and can be manipulative. These are things I have recently realized have always been there, I just had no self confidence and went along with whatever he said.
I have expressed my needs many times, just general help around the house, quality time, basic things. I was a housewife/girlfriend for most of our relationship, so did most household things, but now I work part-time and go to school full-time and he is shocked that I would like him to take on some responsibilities. I do all of our laundry, cook every meal, walk our dogs 2 hours before he wakes up for work because I have to get up early for every other task in my day, do all of the cleaning. He does do the after dinner dishes now. I would delegate tasks but he genuinely doesn’t know how to do any of it or maybe he’s just saying he doesn’t. He grew up extremely privileged and spoiled, so I have had to teach him how to make eggs. It’s more work for me to explain simple tasks than just do them myself.
There is drama with family. He hates my parents and I’m honestly just happier seeing them without him because he’s such a miserable person when we’re around them. He did something messed up to my mom and she did something far less messed up to him, but hasn’t been super welcoming since what he did. She always makes a point to include him and never speaks ill of him, but he is downright disrespectful in the way he speaks about her to me and it’s appalling. He is blinded by hatred in anything that has to do with her for a reason that is honestly sort of dumb and for an unwelcomeness that is the result of his own actions.
This brings me to two issues: I want my parents involved in our future kid’s lives and I am honestly scared to have children knowing that he doesn’t even want to take care of our dogs by himself for 2 days. I know I will not be able to handle his lack of basic help with kids, but if I want kids can I not be in this relationship?
I don’t know if his depression is the cause of some of this and feel bad because of the grace that he gave me, but it’s beyond just things that could be linked to his mental health. I honestly don’t even know if he thinks anything is wrong. I try to express my feelings, but it’s not worth it to fight about them anymore.
There’s no passion, no excitement. I love my husband so much and I’m scared that I might not be happy. I feel like I am the only one putting in the work and I did try to bring up couples therapy, but then we got in a fight about that.
I am just at a loss and feel like I don’t know what’s real and what isn’t. I can’t tell if I’m happy. I feel like he’s manipulative, but I’m not sure. He always leaves me questioning and feeling bad even if I’m the one with an issue. Anyways, can people change? I was able to, so I keep holding out hope that he can too but I honestly think most of my issues with him are just fundamentally how he is.

I (34m) finally met with an attorney today, explained my situation, and got the counseling I need to initiate divorce with my wife (32F). I called my Dad afterwards and he didn't tell me what to do, but he didn't have to, nor did i want him to. He expressed that he would support me whatever I decided to do.
I walked away from the conversations with my attorney and Dad feeling like I know that I need to move forward with divorce. My house also went on the market today, talk about weird timing.
I haven't given my marriage every ounce of love and attention it deserves. I wish my Wife and I would've sought counseling earlier to get ahead of all of our problems. I just don't see a way forward anymore given the circumstances.
6 years of marriage. I've been threatened with divorce twice in the last year. In many of these scenarios, she claimed she was the victim, and that I was actually at fault. Despite all of this, she thinks we should have children together.
She's starting a new job in California in 4 weeks and I cannot go with her because it's too late. Sure, we could seek counseling once there and work to heal our relationship, but I don't know if the resentment will dissipate or if I could live with the regret of potentially destroying my financial future.
I've done everything but tell her I need to get out, and it's going to be the hardest part of all of this.

Background:
I have five siblings, but I am the 14th child - the rest died with stillbirths and miscarriages. I am the youngest, and there are big gaps between each of my siblings of about 5 years, so I really only grew up with A and D. As far as the rest of my siblings, due to the age differences they were all off doing their own things, and I saw them from time to time but did not grow up around them. I grew up with both of my parents for a bit, and then it was my mom most of the time.
I have always been the “black sheep” of the family, tons of jokes and being made fun of, being blamed for everything and always being compared to my siblings and feeling like I wasn’t as smart or talented as them, especially D. Most of the family now is incredibly toxic with a lot of lying and talking shit behind each other’s backs, and things like abuse, cheating, etc. being joked about and brushed under the rug.
I grew up with a lot of depression and anxiety from my household and all the trauma, and today I still have a lot of anxiety and depression, and it’s difficult to deal with everything day-to-day. Figuring out who I am, what I want to do, all while trying to work and support myself, is hard enough without flashbacks, intrusive thoughts and the obsession of trying to figure out why it all happened. That’s why I’m here - to figure out if this all makes sense, and if I can come back from everything I’ve done and everything that’s happened.
Early Life
Growing up, my mom was loving towards me most of the time, my dad was not as much. When I was around 4, my dad and I were supposed to hang out together at the bowling alley and I caught him cheating on my mom. When I cried about it, he told me with his finger in my face, “I’ll never take you out ever again”, and we went home. I told my mom about the cheating and she confronted him. A few months later she confronted him again because she found clothing that did not belong to her in her room. They were yelling and arguing, I was crying and I tried to stop their fight and my dad picked me up and told my mom “See what you did”, which I didn’t want at all. A few months later, my mom got a restraining order on him, so I didn’t see him much after that. At home, it was me, my mom, and D. My mom has always compared me to my brothers and wanted me to be more like them, especially D. I idolized D growing up because of all of this, and he always seemed so smart and capable.
My mom has always told me bad things about my dad, and I obviously never liked him because of the cheating, but a lot of it is from the things she said. She would tell me, as a child, that he fucked a chicken and a dog, that he sexually abused his mentally ill brother, she would say that he would tell him to stop but my dad kept going, that he didn’t pay child support, that he’s a victim, that he’d be talking with all the gay guys around the beach and the business, and many other things. She made up a song about him sucking dick and I used to sing the song when I was a kid because it made her laugh. My mom shared all of her thoughts and feelings with me where I was like her therapist, and she was always saying all the things my siblings would do that made her cry so I would try to make sure I never did those things. We watched a lot of shows and movies together, but 90% of the time it was things kids shouldn’t watch, from like rated R comedy movies with sex and nudity to graphic sexual assault scenes.
With everything my mom has told me, I’ve internalized all of it so whenever someone has wronged my mom, I’ve taken it personally and felt like I need to fix it and not be like that. For example, one time D’s wife R broke a ceramic bust my mom had and my mom told D and his response was “Don’t be materialistic.” I went and picked up all the pieces and used elmer’s glue to repair the ceramic bust.

A few months after the restraining order, when I was first starting elementary school, my dad randomly came and picked me up, and he brought me to this apartment complex and he brought me into this room with nothing in it but a loveseat, and he told me to wait in there and not move and he’d be back. A few minutes later, my sister A came in and started taking off her clothes and she told me to take off my clothes, then she laid on the loveseat and told me to get on top of her. I was grossed out when my penis touched her vaginal secretions, I yelled “Ew!” and she told me to go to the restroom to get cleaned up, I cleaned up in the bathroom, and then I came back with the towel and just laid there and she sexually assaulted me. When it was done she put her clothes back on and I did too and then she left the building, and a few minutes later my dad came back in and then took me home and that was it. I didn’t know what to do or why it happened, and my brother D always told me “snitches get stitches”, so I didn’t tell anyone about it.

Around this same time of my dad leaving, my brother started abusing me verbally, physically, and sexually. He abused me most heavily from elementary through middle school. He stole my best friend away when I was about 5 or 6 , he told us he was making a video and told my friend he could be in it but that he couldn’t talk to me anymore if he was, my friend agreed so I ran home crying, my mom scolded D but that was it. After that I didn’t want to make any friends if he could so easily take them away. I had a girlfriend when I was about 10 that he started sexting on MSN and so that ruined the relationship I had with her. I tore up a picture of her next to her at lunch and threw it away and she left crying. After that I didn’t have a girlfriend for the longest time. I did make two friends later from middle school onward, J and L, who will come up more later.
D started telling me things all the time like the “snitches get stitches" saying, he’d make fun of me crying and mimic me (both of my parents would do the same thing sometimes) and if I tried to do it back he would punch me. I was always called gay by him and basically everyone else in my family, all my siblings and parents joked at different times that I was gay and that has continued. I started to get really bad stomach pain after the abuse started and D would tell me it was in my head, and when I would try to talk about the abuse, he would always say I was lying or it didn’t happen like that or I was remembering it wrong. He and my mom have said he has a photographic memory, and they both have made me feel like I have a bad memory from saying I remember it wrong, so it’s made me doubt everything.
Physically, he has always been pushing, punching, kicking, choking me and threatening to do so. One day he came home from school with his friend and just chased me into our room upstairs and choked me. I was crying and he said if I didn’t stop crying he’d choke me harder, and his friend walked up and he saw me as he came into the room, I was crying and we locked eyes as I asked him for help. D saw the look on his friend’s face and let me go, his friend left and never came back. Another time he pushed me down and I was crying and I ran and hid from him. My dad was there at the time and he told D to stop banging on the door and D was saying that I was lying about the push and that he would break my game if I did not tell the truth. Shortly after he slid two halves of a PS1 CD for Vigilante 8 under the door. He has also gone out of his way to hurt other children and make them cry, and when asked why? D said “I could have made you cry but I wanted him to cry”.
D always said the sexual abuse was in his sleep so he couldn’t control it, but then he would say I was coming up to him and basically coming onto him in his sleep, but a lot of these times happened during the day or not in bed at all. The first time it happened I was in elementary school, he asked me who my crush was in school, I told him and he said that he could close his eyes and become her. I tried to kiss him since “he was my crush” and he kept dodging the kiss attempts, and then after that he went straight into sucking my penis, I didn’t know how to react, he just did it. This happened multiple times over the next few months with other crushes I had too. The next few years in elementary I saw him on and off as he was staying with my dad more, and whenever he would come over it would start off being nice and regular, but it would always lead to things like him being physical with punches.
A few years after these incidents, I don’t really know why it happened, but my dad and brother moved back in with us. The abuse started back up; he brought me to this bathroom once to look at his semen in the toilet, and then he tried to masturbate me, but it made me feel ticklish all over, and after that happened I became obsessed with masturbating.
Once the sexual abuse started, he didn’t want me to sit next to him anymore, and if I was in his near vicinity he would always get upset and had something to say about it. One particular time I was playing a video game on the computer by myself, he came in and told me I had to get out of the room. When I laid with him and he started fucking me and masturbating me, I told him to stop and that it hurt, but he said “I’ve seen you take shits bigger than my dick,” and kept going. When he was done I left and went to the bathroom and cried for a little bit and had to take care of myself as I had lost some perianal skin during the assault. After this, I left the bathroom and went back into the room and he was on the computer, ready to play video games.
Another time we were riding bikes together at night and we passed by this ditch near my school by some trees, he just pulled to the side and stopped had us lay in the ditch, he fucked me and masturbated me and then we rode home.
Another time D and I trespassed into a construction zone to hang out, it was a set of apartments being built but they weren’t finished yet. We went into what I think was one of the bathroom areas and he fucked me while masturbating me, and then after that we just got up and left.
Another time we were walking from a friend’s house and we went to a park nearby on our way home. We stopped by some bushes that are sort of like a maze, and there was one of those green pad mounted transformers in there. He took me into there and just like the other times, he fucked me and masturbated me and then afterwards we got up and went home.
Another time, he told me he was taking the van out to do donuts and invited me along. He had invited me before to do this in my mom’s Camaro on a previous Sunday, and it was Sunday again so I was excited for it. We got into the van and he drove a street or two down and parked in an empty corner of the warehouse parking lot. He got into the farthest back seat of the van and I followed him because I knew what was happening, he fucked me and masturbated me and then I got up to get dressed. I put my pants on and I saw my dad walking towards us in the distance, I mentioned it to D and he immediately got up and rushed to get ready and started the van to drive us back. My dad stopped us for a moment but just looked at D and as we drove on my dad was just shaking his head the whole time.

In any of these events, my parents would not help me and would often make fun of my crying. Sometimes they would yell at him, but he would always say I was bothering him or it didn’t happen. These types of abuse from D continued up unto middle school and didn’t really stop until he moved out, but he still continued physical and verbal abuse afterwards and to this day tries to spin what happened.
D also told me to act crazy and yell to scare people if I’m fighting with them, and then in every situation with me he would act completely calm so that I looked crazy, my mom is similar and will scream at me in fights but then when anyone else is around she is completely calm.
School onto Adulthood
So obviously a lot of the abuse was still happening at this time, but when I was in middle school I flunked 7th grade and had to repeat it. During that repeat year I was doing well so they wanted to put me into 8th grade already three quarters of the way through, I begged my them not to as I knew I wasn’t ready for it but they did it anyway, and I started failing everything immediately. It wasn’t going how I wanted, and we were having issues at home with money my mom’s house was going about to go through foreclosure, so my dropping out was in the knick of time and I started working at Taco Bell for about a year.
After that, I tried to go back in, but I was too old for middle school. I was told to go to the Adult School nearby and when I did they informed me that I was too young for the adult school, and the high school would’ve been too difficult due to my time off. So I just went back to working and didn’t go back to school. In this time, D wasn’t around as he was with friends a lot, and eventually moved out after being at home for a year doing drugs and being a dick all the time to my mom by bringing people to the house when my mom did not want anyone there. I had a slightly older girlfriend in her 30s around this time who I dated for a year or so we’ll call K; our age difference was a big insecurity for her. At one point I messed up and cheated on her because she was still talking to her ex and it made me insecure, and we broke up. It destroyed me for a while and I was thinking about her a lot.
I went back and got my High School Diploma at 21. Over the next few years I worked and then when I was trying to go back to school at my local community college, I made friends with this girl who was there and we’d talk every now and again. I missed K often and on this one day that I was in the library studying, I had a sudden urge to go home as if something was wrong gut feeling; As I drove home I saw K’s vehicle at an angle as they were hit by a F-150 truck. I ended up staying with K until everything was sorted and then I drove them home.
We caught up and later started dating again but it wasn’t good, our relationship wasn’t any better and we still could not go out together to places. So one time I went with the girl from college to a theme park and when I informed K about it they left and went to their parent’s house as they felt I was cheating, but the first time K and I were together she always mentioned that she was overweight and did not feel confident enough to be with me in public due to our age so we never went to the beach or theme park. Which is why I didn’t bother asking her this time and instead asked a classmate. We went as friends but it was too much for K so we broke up again but still lived together for a couple of months after that. I was a dick at the time and started dating the girl from my college while we still lived together, but I didn’t like her much and we didn’t date for long. Looking back I really regret the way I did all that and realize how hurtful it was to K.
Throughout these later years I had kept up my friendship with J and L, and J was my best friend, we would hang out all the time. L and I were friends, but we weren’t as close as I was to J. All three of us hung out from time to time, and I had a crush and L. Once L and I were hanging out alone watching Lord of the Rings late at night, both of us completely sober, and I told her I was going to masturbate and offered for her to join. She immediately agreed and went to it, it was a mutual masturbation session that turned into sex, and she even told me I could finish inside her. Afterwards I fell asleep (I apologized for this) and took her home later. At some point when I was apologizing, L said, “it takes two to tango”. I was trying to go to school around where they lived. I lived with them for a few years, and during this time I was trying to go to school down there and working with him each day. I was honestly getting more and more depressed, I started getting high a lot and just didn’t give a fuck because of that, and our daily work wasn’t much so I was starting to feel like I wasn’t going to make anything with my life.
A little later when I was 24, my dad died, everyone came for the funeral except for D as he told my mom “I want to remember him the way he was”. I went with H and C as I was still living with them at the time, and then we went back together.
Planned Abuse of F, Remembering Abuse of G
While I was living with H, one time everyone was trying to play this mobile game together and my niece’s phone wasn’t working; H was resetting it - I had the game endless frontier open on my phone and was playing it in the room; H entered the room and asked if I wanted to head to the gas station and I said sure, as we walk through the living room I saw that F was on the sofa but not using their phone. I asked them if they wanted to play endless frontier on mine and she said yes, so I let her use mine while H and I went to the store. When we came back, she wasn’t on the game anymore and said she had gotten bored, and she went through my photos and saw some dick pics I had sent to a girl I was talking to at the time. I was terrified when this happened and I didn’t really know what to do. It brought back memories when I was on H’s phone at a younger age and saw dick pics accidentally and he yelled at me.
Some weeks pass after this, I wake up to a commotion as I leave the room. I see H’s wife C choking my niece F on the ground in the corner of the living room. I did not know what to do here so I backed into the room I woke up in and waited until everything ended. After she stopped, I called F and one of my nephews into the room I was staying in and asked them about this. I recorded the interaction; they were hesitant to answer until I mentioned that it was for their safety, and they said this was a thing she did all the time to my niece and my nephew gestured with his hands a choking motion at his neck. I asked the nephew if C had done it to them ever, but both him and F said it’s never happened to him. I didn’t know what to do and called my mom who told me not to tell H or he’d kill C and to stop talking / hanging out with F because they may say I was having sex with her.
At this point in my life I was already attempting to kill myself and a friend of D’s (M) came and saved me 2 times prior. So in my head I heard he would kill C for choking their daughter and all I wanted was to die. I felt that the family would hate me and thus forget me quickly for doing such a horrid thing. I wouldn’t care, I wouldn’t be here, and my mom could be with the loving toxic family she’s always loved.
Over the next few months I didn’t do anything physically but I did talk to her about sex when she asked me about it, I just explained sex as a normal beautiful thing that couples do and to wait until you’re at least 18 and wait until you’re ready to do it. She also told me she had been looking at porn previously and showed me porn she was interested in on a site for a few seconds. She said C caught her and shamed her, telling her God didn’t like it and it was demonic. D had similarly told me to think about God when I was younger and thinking about sex, so this reminded me of that and terrified me. The next night, she came up and said she couldn’t sleep because she couldn’t stop thinking about sex. I told her to sleep on the couch behind me and I just held her hand from the other couch and helped her fall asleep. I did show her my penis for a few seconds one time, nothing else happened physically/sexually.
I also retrieved a memory a year or so ago, and realized I got revenge on my sister A by abusing her daughter one time. My sister A left her husband and was living with my other brother J when I did what I did to my niece G. I didn’t do anything physically to her but we were on the couch and I masturbated behind her, it only happened one time.
I have immense regret for it and I just want to tell her how sorry I am for doing that, because she didn’t do anything to me and I hate that I did that to her. I hate that I abused someone because it makes me feel like my brother and that is never who I want to be. I have been wanting to apologize to her and talk to them and explain everything with what A did to me, but every time I bring it up my mom made me promise not to talk to G because it will break their mother-daughter trust in one another. HELP!!! I am desperate to try and rehome my dog, Bowie. My wife and I recently had a baby and our dog shows signs of aggression and is making life very difficult. See below video for more details. I almost exclusively do 4 strands as a flat braid with paracord, but that comes with a couple complications of its own involving the finger loop and the pouch design, so I am going to write this for a 6 strand braid, which for most of the sling will be a 3-strand braiding pattern using doubled strands, so 6 total...
...but in order to do the finger loop right you actually want to cut 3 strands at double the full desired length, plus some room for error etc. so for a 54" sling cut 3 lengths of cord at 120" each (and just for convenience go ahead and melt the ends sealed)
line them up alongside one another and fold your bundle in half, but to avoid tangling and confusion keep the 2 halves a little separated. you'll start working on the middle of the bundle.
finger loop:
take the very middle, then choke up a few inches (technically this will amount to the circumference of the finger loop but it doesn't have to be perfect here). tie a slipknot a few inches up from the very middle binding the 3 cords together, and start braiding them together on the long side starting at the knot.
the repeat rule through this whole effort is TIGHT, EVEN braids. if it starts looking wonky, just take it apart and try to fix it bc the further you go the more impossible any corrections will become.
after you get a few inches of braid, loop it around to see how big the finger loop is. you want it wide enough to easily slip past the knuckles on your middle finger (even if that's not the finger you use when you actually sling, you should still make it big enough). when you get there, clothespin the braid closed and untie the slipknot. now you’re gonna tighten up that end of the braid and maybe even add a little length.
stack your braid ends one on top of the other to form the finger loop and make sure each braid's last working strand is pointing in the same direction.
you’re going to pair each strand with its counterpart one by one, and continue the braid as a doubled up 3-strand pattern. this will merge the ends of the finger loop together seamlessly and begin the retention cord.
if this sounds complicated, it's honestly pretty straightforward once you're actually doing it (this sentiment might come up again a couple times fyi)
retention cord:
braiding the retention cord is easy, it's the same 3-strand pattern just with doubled strands now. keep the doubled strands parallel and pull them very tight with each braid you lay down, wrapping them around as you go (again... you'll see what I mean).
knee:
once you get the right length on the retention cord (I didn’t do the math here, but it's not complicated), you'll separate the braid into 2 bundles of 3, each to be braided into the sides of the split pouch.
rather than laying out exactly which strand goes where to make it most even, I think you'll do fine figuring it out on your own. honestly you just want the sides to be as balanced as possible.
a good practice is to braid one side a couple inches, clothespin it, then braid the other side a couple inches. now go back to the first one, undo the braid, pull everything super tight again and braid a couple inches again; then repeat on the other side. this really helps pull out the slack that inevitably builds up.
pouch:
braid each side to the appropriate length (math...), taking turns between them and regularly checking they are well balanced.
we will do a little more to beef up the pouch a bit once we finish the release cord. that is when you can add a Channing type smile if you want, too.
belly:
again, make sure each pouch braid's last working strand points in the same direction and all the strands are pulled tight.
you will rejoin the pouch in a similar way as you did for the finger loop, but this time side by side instead of stacked. this is probably the trickiest part of the whole process, and it might take a couple tries to get it right but it's not too hard. if it's just not working for you, you can get away with joining them stacked instead of side by side and the sling will still work fine - it's just better to do it side by side.
just make sure you keep pulling all the strands tight as you go, and that you are pairing the appropriate strands with one another.
don’t hesitate to take it apart and give it another try if it doesn't look or feel right - it's reasonably important to get this part right since it is the part of the sling that most directly affects how projectiles will release.
release cord:
hey you're at least 3/4 done now. if you want you can just keep doing the same 6 strand, doubled-up 3 strand pattern for the entite length of the release cord - but it's generally advised to drop out strands from the braid periodically to form a steady taper until the very end of the release cord is the same thickness as the finger loop.
it's very easy to do, and I usually just feel it out as I go - it doesn't have to be a perfect taper. you'll drop one cord at a time, so you'll start with 6 strands, braid for a bit... drop to 5 and braid some more; then 4 for a bit, and finally 3 for the remainder - so it does help to learn how to do a 5- and 4-strand braid...
...but honestly it should be ok if you do your 5-strand portion by continuing with the same 3 doubled-up strand pattern, just one of them is a single strand now.
also, whenever you drop a strand don't cut it or anything, just leave it out of the braid and let it hang for now.
same deal when you hit 4 strands - you could learn the braid or just continue the same pattern you've been doing but now only one strand is doubled. doing it like that with the 5 and 4 strand portions will kinda make the cord less... idk 'uniform'(?) than if you were to use the appropriate braid patterns, but all in all it shouldn't be an issue.
lastly, of course, dropping from 4 to 3 should be pretty simple.
release:
I like a smooth release without a knot, but if you want to add a knot you just have to make sure it's in the exact right place so that the very center of the pouch will be the lowest point of the sling when you put the finger loop on and grip the release as you will when it's time to use it. only way to determine that is to put it on your finger and try it out.
if you think it'll help, go ahead and place a projectile in the pouch then hold the sling just as you would if you were getting ready to incapacitate a philistine giant - this will help you find the exact spot where it's most comfortable and natural to grip the release cord and keep the pouch centered.
note: this is actually part of why I prefer to skip the release knot... if you experiment with different ways of holding and releasing etc. - which you probably should if you’re new to slinging - the knot kinda locks you in place. I haven't heard a good argument in favor of the knot actually; it seems like there's no real advantage to having it and it kinda gets in the way
use a crown knot, which is super easy w 3 strands but I’m not going to explain it here - it's all over youtube you'll have no trouble finding a 20 second video demonstrating this simple knot.
you can terminate the sling right at the release knot if you want, but I strongly recommend continuing for a few inches past it - and if you skip the knot, definitely continue a few inches past the portion you'll be gripping.
end the braid with a crown knot then cut and melt the ends of each cord to seal them. melting paracord ends is sort of a skill on its own, but if you do it right it bulges a little and hardens in place which will hold your knot together.
tassle: (how do you spell tassle? is it tassel?)
you don’t need a tassle but hey why not? since you've got plenty of paracord cut like 7" and pull out the inner strands - the guts.
you can thread them through the crown knot for extra security, then braid them together for a few inches - or you can just make a braid and tie it to the end. either way works fine. I like to braid the tassle a bit then let it hang loose for another couple inches into a natural fray, rather than closing the braid with a knot. honestly doesn't matter much, but do leave an unbraided portion as a fray.
pouch afterwork:
you could leave the pouch as is, but it's nice to make it a little beefier and more durable. I just use some more paracord to wrap it. you can use the axe-handle wrap method, which is basically just a series of alternating overhand knots around a core - typically a tool handle but in this case each of the sides of your pouch.
a much, much better way is a 'solomon bar' which is like paracord 101... it's how you make everything - key fobs, bracelets, dog leashes, belts, etc. it's hard to explain, but easy to learn from a video lol. just remember that any video you watch about it will show you how to create a core, then create the knot pattern around it, usually using like one strand of cord - you just need the knot technique since the core you'll tie it around is, again, each of the sides of the pouch.
I've never tried the 'smile' but it seems easy enough - just kinda minimally thread a single strand of cord across the center gap to prevent your projectiles from falling through (honestly it's just not a problem I have often enough to warrant a solution like that)
afterwork/finishing touches:
the hanging strands you dropped out for the taper... just cut those and melt them sealed. easy enough.
you can wrap the finger loop too, if you want. I'd go ahead and do that if you wind up using it often enough, and I recommend something soft like cotton twine... but paracord does work fine too.
end/concluding notes:
and there you go.... idk how much experience you have using a sling, but that's outside the scope of this for me lol - one thing I will say though if you haven't used one before: start with tennis balls or something that can’t knock anybody out or break windows, please!
and lastly, if this does seem like more than you're willing to undertake... there are easier options for sure.
seatbelt sling:
my favorite sling that isn’t a natural fiber balaeric type is the second one I ever made, which took me 10 minutes after watching the video by Mersa - a seatbelt sling. it just uses canvas type material for the pouch and single strands for the cords. look it up. mine gets used all the time and has never needed any repairs or adjustments
noodle sling:
literally takes less than 5 minutes and uses a single uncut cord with easy knots to form the loop and the pouch. you do need a slightly thicker cord though. I’ve made a few of these and they also work great.

it's super satisfying to use a sling you made yourself, and if you're like me at all you'll wind up making like a dozen of them just out of boredom until you get the technique down perfect and even come up with your own ideas and techniques to try out.
