Jewel paris amour

For the French musical group Videoclub.

2017.08.29 13:24 Amy_Mackersey For the French musical group Videoclub.

Eternal youth, teenage love, insolent freshness of a pop duo just born. On the black screen of our sleepless nights, flashes the neon sign of an old video club. A lost innocence that Videoclub, a young duo from Nantes (France), captures with the magnificent purity of their seventeen years of age. From stolen kisses to restrained tender gestures, raising hell together, and their powerful love – authentic – resembles an auteur film.

Luck strikes again! SAS haul pt 2
Stopped at my store for the 2.99 handsoap sale and decided to poke around some more. I can't believe I found more Paris Amour. They had a few sprays left but then I found body cream!!!! I asked if they had the body wash, the lady checked in the back and the drawers but unfortunately no. I really feel confirmation they are bringing this back because these were definitely not on the floor when I stopped in on Saturday.
The cream's SKU did work, it's ringing up as 16.95 so they had to scan something else for the 4.95 sale. If it's populating in their system though, I feel that's a good sign!!
Didn't find much older stuff but I found an old rose magnolia aromatherapy mist. I've been using rose vanilla as a spray in my shower so this will be a nice edition. I also decided to bite the bullet on the lemon bag and another cute pocketbac holder. They had a lot of sanitizers on sale too so I grabbed those. Into the Night haircare was ringing up a lil more than 4 a piece so why not 💁‍♀️. As for the 3 for $7 minis, they were just a quick grab, I'm traveling soon so I wanted to get some mini body washes.
My store also put some of the (what I assume) summer 3 candles out. Cafe Latte smells okay. I don't think it smells as good as pink lavender and espresso or Paris Cafe.
I also spotted a mushroom pocketbac holder!! Possible fall stuff? 🤔

[Scene opens within a romantic Parisian loft]
[SFX: A figure maneuvering about the room with practiced ease]
[You are bound to a chair in a Parisian loft while a handsome, quiet man tortures you for information]
“Ah, yes. The Red Fox of the North, the most infamous spy to ever live… Hmhm. This must be a familiar scenario for you… All locked away, being tortured for information while you glare and struggle. How are you finding the experience, Mon doux petit criminel de guerre… my sweet little war criminal? How lovely all that hate and animalistic fear makes your eyes…”
[Pause!!!]
“Just get it over with…? Love, love, love… How many more hours will you resist my hypnosis? I am trying to do this in the least painful manner possible for us both. Can’t you appreciate that?”
[He chuckles pleasantly]
“You are strong. I admire that, mon petit amour. I admire you… but, alas, my job is to get information out of you, not to admire the pristine beauty I am about to destroy. Now, again… look me in the eye.”
[SFX: Soft whispering in the back of the Listener’s mind]
It’s alright… I don’t want to hurt you if I can help it. You are safe here, with me. [Fight it]
Oh, love… You fight so bravely, but what is there to fight? The war is over. The loft is warm. Gentle music is playing in the background. Can’t you hear it, my darling?
[SFX: Faint, romantic jazz]
[FIGHT. IT]
[Your captor moves in front of you, eyes glowing a soft red. He sweeps the hair from your face and clucks his tongue]
“Hmm. The doctor said you might have flashbacks after your time as a secret agent. My poor dove… Seeing demons in everyone and everything. You must be so tired of feeling like you have to run.”
[Pause!!!]
[He smiles patiently as you rage at him]
“Darling… It is 1945. The war ended two months ago, remember?”
[Pause…?]
“Look at the calendar, if you don’t believe me.”
[SFX: The Listener shifting]
[You look at the calendar again. It reads October 22nd, 1945]
[...]
“See…? I don’t want to harm you. I just want information and, then, you’re free to go. Go and live with the demons eating at the back of your brain… Aren’t I a kinder torturer than what you are used to, my love?”
[????]
“Oh, it’s very tragic. You and I, you see… we were wed before the war began. Drafted to two separate sides of said war. You, my beautiful little spy, doing everything they can to thwart my masters. And me? Well… I did my best to remain the kind, gentle man you fell in love with, despite my unfortunate position…”
[...]
[His next words are said with such conviction, that it’s hard not to weep with him]
“...I’ve missed you so terribly, my love. It kills me to have to use my hypnosis on you, and kills me more that you’ve been turned against me with such vitriol… All of our happy memories together, all of our intimate nights hiding under the blankets of that very bed… The corner still has that slight mark from where we play wrestled.”
[...]
“Don’t you remember, sweetling? Any of it…?”
[...?]
[His smile brightens]
“Yes, of course, I remember our summer in Paris! How could I forget? Such beautiful memories. Memories I would give anything to let you hold once more!”
[You look him dead in the eye and smirk]
[Pause]
[His smile fades and his eyes become cold]
“...You did say you’d never been to Paris before when I first captured you. That is true. That is true…”
[Pause.]
“Oh, of course, I’m lying to you, darling. I am a torturer, after all.”
[Fight]
“But… I wasn’t lying when I said we were once wed. That, I can prove. Here.”
[SFX: Papers rustling]
“Our marriage certificate, completely untamperable, per the spell put on it. And… here.”
[He holds out his hand and you notice it]
[Pause!]
“Yes. Your father’s wedding band… Was a bit difficult getting the old bastard’s approval to wed you, but he came around. I assure you, I did him no harm. Not harm like what was done between you and me!”
[Fight it!]
I can hear your little thoughts, darling…
[Go fuck yourself, then]
[He laughs]
“Go fuck myself, then? Hmhm. I do love your temper… You and I, we were like fire and ice. Prey and predator. Human and vampire… We shouldn’t have worked and yet…”
[For a moment, a second, he smiles sadly, eyes ringed in sorrow and regret]
[...]
“...I took this job on one condition. I knew I was the only one that could save you after the immense amount of ill will you’ve built up within my platoon. My condition was that you would be allowed to live… so long as you were my pet.”
[Pause?!]
[His sad smile turns a little sadistic]
“Darling, you didn’t think that the vampire generals would let me let you go unharmed unless I seriously demeaned you or rendered you helpless, did you? No, no, no, they want you dead. Not even turned into a thrall. Dead. You really pissed them off, hmhm, and I adore you for it!”
[Pause!!!!]
“Oh, I know you don’t wish to be a pet, my dear. But if you want to live… I’m afraid you have no other choice. Now…”
[His eyes flare and you feel the struggle in you dying]
[SFX: More whispers eating the back of the Listener’s mind]
Remember me.
[No]
Remember how good it felt to be with me.
[...]
I want you to remember how good it felt each time I possessed you, nibbling on your neck, handling you as only a real man can! Remember…
[SFX: Muffled gasps/giggles from memories past]
Remember! Remember each time I left you a shaking, quivering mess, barely able to remember your own name! How you would admire me while I stood on the balcony and had a smoke, JUST to come back and render you speechless again! We were insatiable, both of us, but we had our quiet moments… Remember.
[...]
You feel that heat in you. Your mind may not remember, but your body certainly does… You haven’t been able to bring yourself to be with another man since we parted… have you?
[SFX: More past noises of general pleasure and romance]
The war is over, my darling… Why are you still fighting?
[His question hits harder than any blows you’ve taken over the years]
[...]
[He kneels before you, eyes blazing with power now]
You don’t have to fight anymore, my darling… Surrender your dignity, surrender your sense of pride, and be mine again… It’s the only way I can save you.
[....]
It’s OK… you can rest now. No more demons…
[...]
You know I’ll take care of you… Don’t you?
[...You do]
[He breathes a sigh of relief as you finally break, drawing you against his chest]
“There we are… There we are… My good little spy, finally relenting after…Heavens, three days! You used to be so terrified of that helplessness, of being left alone with people that want to hurt you… but you know my hurt is good, right? Don’t you, mi amor?”
[...]
[He chuckles and runs his knuckles under your lips]
“Drooly little thing… Perfect for me to extract the information I need…”
[...]
“...Oh, but, what’s the rush now that you’re ready to rest. You should rest more, my love. I always said as much, but you were always off on some adventure… Some mission, some imprisonment, some combat, somewhere where I could not follow…”
[...?]
[His voice softens and you do believe him this time. You have no choice]
“My sweet… No, I’m not angry with you. Gods know I could never hate you! No… This is all I wanted. For you to rest and be free of the sins and blood and death! Once this is all done, there will be peace. No more nightmares, darling. No more pain. Just you being my sweet little kitty, and us living blissfully, as we used to. Doesn’t that sound so wonderful?”
[<3]
“Hmhm, there’s a good kitty. Here, those ropes are going to chafe at this point, and I certainly don’t want to see handcuffs on you in this particular scenario.”
[SFX: Him untying the Listener and picking them up]
[<3 <3 <3]
“Oh, you’re so sweet when you’re mindless… I have missed you, darling. It’s been… what… two years?”
[...]
[Something clicks in your brain and you’re allowed about ten seconds of cold, awful realization and dread]
“Hmm? Yes, two years, my love. Why?”
[...?]
[He smiles down at you, perfectly chilling in his lust and drive to break you]
“Haha… Yes. That would make it 1943, wouldn’t it…?”
[Pause!!]
[SFX: The Listener struggling very briefly]
“Ah ah ah, now… Just because the war is still happening doesn’t mean we can’t have our fairy tale ending, my sweet. Now… Behave.”
[SFX: The Listener falling limp]
“Good kitty. I’m going to lie you in bed, go have a cigarette, and then I want you to tell me all about those movement orders… OK?”
[<3]
“Oh, sweet thing. I know you’d do anything for me, and I’d do anything for you. Now… Please rest, mi amor. You’ll need it if you insist on continuing to resist me and my questions. If you aim to behave, well…”
[He kisses you on the forehead]
“I promise I’ll be sweet to you. Alright?”
[<3 <3 <3]
[He smiles down at you, eyes still gleaming red]
“I love you, too, my sweet. Tu es tout ce pour quoi je vis... ma douce.”
[With that, he stands and strides toward that familiar balcony, lighting a cigarette as he goes. Paris is burning outside]
[The End?]
Note: This was a Patreon exclusive for a good bit but fuck it, I kind of like these two dysfunctional, vampiric, WWII dummies.

2024.06.04 01:45 SolarstarValke Summer SAS Review (Uh...Short!)

Summer SAS Review (Uh...Short!)
https://preview.redd.it/ux363sz0mf4d1.png?width=960&format=png&auto=webp&s=744a645db369168e814073005cc9ce345a8c88ec
Yeah, literally, Summer SAS is going to be a SHORT review because I have all the other scents in older packaging and i wasn't going to be pating $80+ to get Freesia so I'm super happy to see it finally. But like previous review posts, I will be talking about the whole Summer 2 release after this so, let's get going!!!!!
  • Freesia (Freesia, Creamy Hyacinth, White Musk) - I never understood why this was sooo sought after and priced so high prior to this release, but Freesia is not really a scent for me. It's like they mixed One in a Million, Moonlight Path, and Dressed in White together and you pretty much get this scent. It's so floral that it comes to a point where I think it just comes off soapy/powdery to me more than anything else. Not the best scent for me and still leaves me wondering why people wanted so much for it.

Summer SAS for me was REALLY disappointing in the fact there's no newness to be found and all the sets are just returning scents (although I will give them some credit for bringing back some OLD scents back to the front).
First set is the Block Party set which actually kicked off with Firecracker Pop (released in Summer 1) but then released 4 more scents to the set; Fruity Sherbet Scoop, Watermelon Lemonade, Strawberry Soda, and Whipped Coconut Milkshake and considering two were Summer SAS scents last year and returning, it's kind of meh and Strawberry Soda had a year-long break but also was a SAS scent back in 2022. Watermelon Lemonade we haven't seen for a couple years (2020?). It's....OK...not I was expecting something like this in Summer 1 to be honest, so seeing that these scents mostly being previous SAS scents is kind of disappointing (also shame that Berry Waffle Cone has this style packaging, but it's only in the 3-wick candle >.> C'mon B&BW bring that back as a body care scent...)
The next set was the old/returning set which consists of Wild Madagascar Vanilla and Tahiti Island Dream which may be the the most intriguing of the bunch since it's been many years since either of them showed up (I think Tahiti was MAYBE online back in early 2021...Winter SAS 2020?). Still, there's nice scents a little switch-up and kind of neat since B&BW have been reaching for some oldies. Paris Amour was also slated to be in this set but for whatever reason was pulled back, heard rumors that it may come in Summer 3, but I'm not holding my breath for it.
Next set was another throwback that features Cucumber Melon, Cherry Blossom, and Freesia and eh? Like at this point, Cucumber Melon should just stay out of sets and just be in the permanent collection because it's just kind of a lazy choice despite it being as nostalgic and popular as it is. Cherry Blossom I remember was around 2021, but it is a nice scent overall (much better than Japanese Cherry Blossom, in my opinion). Freesia like I said was the only scent I didn't own and I still am not the biggest fan of it, just a little too floral for my tastes.
The last set introduced is the Head in the Clouds and it's a returning collection that started last year (2023, Spring 1) with Pastel Skies and Cloud Nine. This SAS collection for this year is just bizarre to me. We have Cotton Candy Clouds, Cloud Nine, and Confetti Daydream and the bizarre thing is that CCC has the same design as Pastel Skies did last year and Confetti Daydream took over Cloud Nine's design, while Cloud Nine has a new purple/orange design. Honestly, who was really lazy this year...like jeeze. The scents themselves are OK I suppose? All three scents showed up last year in different points, so unfortunately they aren't surprising to see sadly.
Yeah, Summer SAS for me is a disappointment with just 1 new scent to get which itself isn't a new scent at all. I'm just bummed there's nothing new out there, though I suppose after Spring 3's Luxurious line, I shouldn't be all that disappointed...

2024.06.03 16:12 ayarusse Où demander ? Est ce le bon sub?

Salut !

Comment m'as tu retrouvé ?
Tu as rajouté que tu "pouvais me protéger" pour mon retour.
Non.
à toi, AM., qui m'a sorti que tu aurais préféré que je tombe "en dessous ta ceinture" lorsque je t'ai bousculé car j'avais trébuché dans la rue ;

For example, if you're looking for an upscale experience in Paris or Rome, expect to pay more than if you were just visiting smaller towns or villages.

First, research different budget-friendly options such as hostels or Airbnb accommodations instead of hotels; also look at transportation alternatives like buses or trains rather than flying between cities. Additionally, keep in mind that certain activities like working or studying will require an additional permit from the government.
It’s also worth noting that many countries offer tourist visas which allow visitors to stay for longer periods of time without having to apply for long-term residency permits. 2024.05.31 15:06 AdhesivenessKey3212 Two new pans

Two new pans
In the begining of May I started panning this eyeshadow palette. It's the Revolution X Emily in Paris eyeshadow palette
I got it as a gift, most of the colours are really pretty, the only one I can't imagine myself using up is I'll Do Me. I am not sure how to use that one, it's such I weird color, I don't think it's flattering on me.
This month I hit pan on Amour and Fashion. The whole palette was new I only swached it, so that's quite an achievement. With Fashion it was really quick, it only took a few uses. The shimmers are really lightly packed. On the other hand I used Café almost every day and there is bearly any visible usage. I think I could really quickly hit pan on A Votre Santé(which I also used almost every day and has a quite big dent) and on Romantic Realist. I have a feeling that the shimmers will be gone quite quickly compared to the mattes. I also used Le Déjeuner quite often and in real life there is some usage visible, but it will definitely take some time to hit pan
For next month I will choose a different palette to concentrate on, so that I don't get bored. But in a few month I will definitely return to this one and I will continue using it.

2024.05.31 14:47 CDown01 J.'s Journals: Blood Ties

Previous Entry
Sometimes I just don’t know how to leave well enough alone. I decided to head out to that town in New Mexico and found a whole lot more than I bargained for. Now I guess it’s time to write about it as Belle snickers at me behind my back as she drives (I can see you sneaking glances at this over my shoulder you know). I won’t admit it to her but running into her was the best part of this whole thing.
It all started with me just walking out of the apartment I was staying in and looking for a bus headed towards New Mexico. Eventually I got lucky and found one but it wasn’t my luck I was surprised by. What surprised me was the familiar face getting off the bus. Belle looked almost exactly the same as she had all those years ago. Sure the clothes were different, maybe she was a bit cleaner after living the high life in D.C. but it was her, I was sure of that. She came running over to greet me as soon as she noticed me starring. Apparently I hadn’t changed that much either.
The meeting was bittersweet, that was my fault though, I was always to quick to business. Turns out she was heading the same way as me but she’d just gotten into town to pick up a rental. She offered me a ride and I accepted, what better way to catch up than a drive out to New Mexico. Along the way she dropped a bomb on me, she didn’t work for Chimera anymore. She was looking into what happened in Cloudcrest, the town we were headed to. It was purely “professional curiosity” as she put it. I think she’s just as interested as I am in something that scared Chimera away.
It was strange seeing Belle again, not bad but… weird. I hadn’t seen her in so long I forgot she existed outside of her letters. It was like she was real only when I read the words on the page. Other than that I hadn’t thought about her much before I started writing in this thing. Just having her there in the car, even when it was just silent, brought me back to those years in Paris. Just her and I against the world. But it wasn’t Paris and so much had changed since those days. Still, it’s nice to have her back in the flesh.
Belle also told me why exactly she’d left Chimera, or more so why she was forced to leave. It actually started with an apology. I’d been trying to avoid the topic and any fights that might come from it but she brought it up and immediately said I was right. I was right about Chimera, of course I was but I didn’t realize exactly how right. They had been keeping tabs on the letters she sent to me. They never used my actual name, not even the J. I normally go by. Even still someone realized who those letters were really going to and started using them to plot my movements around the country. Baelen also followed Belle’s own records back and figured out what she actually was. Afterwards she was offered an ultimatum, lead them to me or be interrogated for any information she knew about me.
Obviously she didn’t like either of those options so she picked up and ran. Why she ran right to the site of Chimera’s most recent failure is up for debate. She’s never been one to take anything laying down especially not blackmail, I get the feeling this is no different. What I really wanted to know was why Baelen is so intent on finding me. He knew who I was, I’d made sure of that on multiple occasions. I’ve also actively spoke out against Chimera to just about any supernatural being who’d listen to me, as if they needed anymore bad press.
What I don’t understand is what he’d gain by finding me. He has access to all the data we ever recorded. Well, anything Frank and Stein didn’t manage to encrypt or delete before they left. If he’s after that why start with me then? Why not just start looking for Frank and Stein, they had to be on some government’s payroll still. Maybe the man’s finally losing it and using me as a scapegoat? I’ll have to keep an ear to the ground though, I don’t like people looking for me without a reason.
We got to Cloudcrest just as the sun was starting to set and the town was a disaster. There were these scorch marks on the pavement where something had left holes. All the buildings we drove past on main street were still standing but only just. Bricks were missing from them and widows were boarded up. One of the houses on the outskirts had most of the roof torn off but the car in the driveway suggested that someone was still using it. The whole looked like something you’d see on television after a tornado struck.
The strangest thing was how few people we saw. There were some buildings with open signs on but I didn’t see anyone in them. There was one or two people on the sidewalks and we were the only car on the road. It was unnerving to see a ghost town so soon after it became one. Belle just parked the car on main street, didn’t even bother locking it.
Despite the state of the town it was still hard to find the kind of evidence we were looking for. I just wanted to get some idea of what did this. I assumed we were looking for a what, not a who. I still do but Belle is convinced it might be both wrapped up into one. Some sort of incredibly powerful supernatural being that can blend in with people isn’t really a comforting thought. She’s got absolutely no evidence to back that up though.
Usually looking around as it was starting to get dark would be a bad idea. But for Belle and I that wasn’t a problem. As we poked around the town we started to see more and more of those holes surrounded by scorch marks on the ground. A lot of the damage was something we ended up chalking up to wind, really really strong wind. It was almost like the most severe thunderstorm I’d ever seen had happened right on-top of a tornado. It really did look like this was all just a case of freak bad weather until we found the feather.
As usual it was Belle who ended up finding something of any real importance. A feather, massive and steel blue that must’ve been at least six feet long. The feather was roughly the size of a person but no bird could be that big, right? It was also pretty hard, not hard like granite but… it’s hard to explain. If you hit it with something you’d feel it bounce back, like the feather was a solid immovable object. But touch the feather and it would feel…. like a normal feather. Maybe it was a little more rigid but it felt largely normal. It was only when you hit it with something that it reacted differently.
Whatever that feather came from had to be the reason Chimera was here. Speaking of Chimera I asked Belle about the official statement they’d given for what happened here. Apparently it was a “geological event” that cut the place off. Not sure that one was going to hold up but apparently thats what they claimed.
Belle and I looked around a little while longer but didn’t really find anything worth writing down here. There was a little mark seared into one of the trees though. It was a bird surrounded by something that might’ve been smoke. There were a few lightning bolts in the design as well. I have to admit, it was an odd find but it didn’t mean anything to me. Could be someone with some metal working skill and too much spare time just made a design and burned it into the nearest tree.
We decided to give up a little while after sunset. We thought it was best not to make ourselves look more suspicious than we already did. After that we went in search of a bar to relax for a bit before we called it a night.. Well as luck would have it thats where the people were. Hopefully they weren’t all that was left of the town.
When we walked in four pairs of eyes scanned over us and my heart dropped. I didn’t recognize the woman with the eagles tattoos in the corner or the purple suited jackass she was talking to. Not sure why I got that feeling about him but anyone in a full purple suit out here is probably bad company. The startled bartender didn’t strike me as anything special either but the last man in the room did. He was dressed in red as usual, this time a red suit and black bowtie that made him look like a valet. His usual red tinted sun glasses sat on his nose obscuring his eyes. And his slicked back black hair made him look a little more modern than usual.
The second I saw him that all to familiar icy feeling shot up my spine. I hadn’t seen that bastard for two years now and I was hoping I was done with him. After all our deal was done, I’d fulfilled my end. Belle paid the man no mind, I’m not even sure if she could see him. I figured I should try and ignore him as well. Belle got us drinks, long island ice teas, an apparent favorite of her’s and we took a table next to the tattooed woman.
I’ve had to snoop more than once during my time at the BSA so eavesdropping from a table over was second nature to me. The man in the purple suit and the tattooed woman were arguing about something, the terms of some reward by the sounds of it. She was trying to whisk him away somewhere, I didn’t catch the place’s name, only that is was up in New York. I was trying to listen in to exactly what she was offering the guy when a name I hadn’t heard in a while crossed his lips, “Bianca”. After that it was hard to focus, I hadn’t seen her in years but there wasn’t a day she wasn’t in my thoughts at least once.
I must’ve been staring after that distraction and when I snapped back to reality the tattooed woman was staring me right in the eyes. Her eyes were… imposing, that powerful stormy grey couldn’t be natural. I couldn’t help but to feel just a little threatened by her gaze. Something about it told me I did not want to mess with her so I turned back to my drink. Belle and I talked for a bit until the man in red tapped my shoulder with a single gloved finger. As I slowly turned to him he didn’t make a sound and I realized with surprise that nothing else was making any noise either. Everything and everyone around me had slowed to a crawl. The man didn’t say a word, just handed a blue jewel incrusted dagger to me and walked out, grinning the whole time.
My body was on autopilot, I just took the dagger and started as the man in red walked out. As soon as he was out of sight everything returned to normal. Belle said she didn’t see anything when I asked, even said she only saw three other people in the bar. We left after that, I didn’t want to hang around anymore.
The dagger and that name stopped me cold, I was going to be just about useless for the rest of the night. The dagger was just something I lifted from an Egyptian museum on vacation once. Nothing really special but I wanted a souvenir and it looked interesting enough. Eventually that dagger would be a gift to my daughter. That’s where the other name that had me so distracted comes in, my daughter's name, Bianca.
I never thought I’d be the family type, especially considering that I really was content to just wander on my own. When I met Caroline all that changed though. It was a few years after I’d left the BSA, I was walking down a street in Chicago when a car pulled over. The driver Caroline, asked for directions and when I saw an opportunity for a ride I took it. I offered to give her directions to wherever it was she was going as long as I could hitch a ride. I’m not sure what made her agree. By all accounts letting a stranger into your car in Chicago is a horrible idea but she went with it. I don’t remember where exactly it was she wanted directions to, we never did get there anyways.
The two of us fell for each other, both free spirits just kind of floating around the states with the breeze. She’d owned a law firm at one point but gave it up for much the same reasons as I’d left the BSA, it just wasn’t the company she remembered. Our little adventures across the country were the highlights of my life so far and probably will be forever. I don’t think I’ve got the time to write about them here but maybe I should someday.
The one moment that sticks with me more than the rest is when I told her what I was. At that point quite a few people I’d worked with in the past had figured it out. The whole BSA knew exactly what I was and no one really batted an eye at it. All that is a longwinded way of saying I wasn’t hiding what I was nearly as much anymore. Still Caroline had no idea, no suspicion but didn’t even react when I told her. It was another thing I admired about her, she could just accept something like that and never let it bother her.
Anyway it wasn’t too long before we’d settled down on a farm in Wyoming. Marsh was the best man at my wedding, even Frank and Stein made it out. That was actually the last time I saw Marsh before the cancer took him, really one of the last good memories I had of him. Caroline and I lived on that farm for the next 3 years before everything went to hell.
It was nothing to do with us but rather what we were trying to do. We had been trying for children, we wanted to start a real family here. The night we finally did was the night I lost control. I had dreams that night, dreams of my deal with the man in red. When Caroline rolled me over that night to… try again, I wasn’t really myself. I can’t describe it, it was like I was watching myself while I wasn’t myself but I still felt… everything. Once it was all over I saw the man in red again, his gaseous form flowing out of my body and materializing in the corner. He looked up to where some part of me had been observing from the ceiling and nodded with a smile before he disappeared and my vision went dark.
After that things were never quite the same. Caroline found out she was pregnant and I was more scared then I’d ever been. Both because of the circumstances of the baby’s conception and the general fear that comes with being a first time parent. When it came time to name the baby Caroline decided on Bianca. The day she was born we all thought we’d lost Caroline. She did lose a lot of blood but she’s always been a fighter, she pulled through just like I knew she would. But I couldn’t be around Bianca, I was constantly reminded of that horrible night and the man in red. I swore I could hear him laughing way off in the distance every time I stared into her blue eyes.
I was a coward, I always was but this is another one of those times that really sticks out to me. I left them, I left my wife and my daughter because of bad memories and what might happen. Instead of being there to help, seeing exactly what the deal I made meant for Bianca, I walked out. I’ve tried to bring myself to go back, to talk to Caroline and tell her why but I can’t. Even if I did find it in me to go back things would never be the same. There aren’t words to make anyone forgive a father who walks out on his family like I did. I’d never expect either of them to forgive me in the first place.
A year or two ago I actually saw her, Bianca. Kind of hard to miss with her eyes glowing like they were. She was all grown up, didn’t even recognize me but she looked like she’d had it rough. We sat and talked for a bit on the step of some dingy apartment building in Nevada for hours. We didn’t actually talk about a whole lot, just the weather, how her day was, and what was going on in her life. She was a little guarded but it was so nice to just sit and talk with her after all that time. It made me wonder what it would’ve been like if I had stayed to raise her. Thinking about that still makes me tear up. I gave her that jeweled dagger before I left, it was a kind of parting gift. I hoped she could sell it and live a better life, the thing had to be worth a small fortune after all.
She never did as far as I know though. Something like that being found and sold somewhere might make the news, especially since it was taken from a museum. Maybe she realized who I was after all and held onto it. Not sure if that would be better or worse than just remembering me as someone who walked out of her life before she even knew me though.
That’s why I was so defenseless as we left the bar. There was just so many things I still torture myself with that were thrown back at me out of the blue. I’m glad Belle just decided to leave. I guess she could tell something was bothering me. I’m sure she could tell when I started writing this, never was all that good at putting pen to paper and it was definitely out of character.
That dagger the man in red gave me was a fake, the thing just disintegrated in my hands as we drove. I guess that means he didn’t take it from my daughter but why did he give it me in the first place? It’s all too much to think about right now, yet another reason why I’m writing about everything here.
I’ve actually started to enjoy keeping this little thing. Maybe I don’t do it quite right and I just go on and on about the past but its nice. I finally have something to tell my stories to, even if it is just a bit of processed tree. Anyways I should probably finish this up before Belle gets too antsy (I know your still peeking at this, eyes on the road). I should ask if she wants to stick around once we get… wherever it is she’s decided we’re going now. She’ll need someplace to lie low away from Chimera and I have just the place in mind.

My Experience Applying to French Nursing School: Got Accepted in Paris
I just received acceptance offers from two nursing schools in Paris.
https://preview.redd.it/ecwrpz4leo3d1.png?width=1437&format=png&auto=webp&s=02ea8958817be29454dba615a76a439288500444
Unfortunately, moving to France and AmerExit-ing in general is no longer my dream as it was when I first sent out my applications. So I will not be taking the offer.
However, I remember how lost I was gathering information on how to apply to French nursing school as an American so I want to give some tips on how to do it for any other people who—like me at one point—wants to practice nursing in France. France does not practice degree reciprocity for American nursing degrees. The only way for an American nurse to become an infirmier diplômé d'état (French equivalent of an RN) is to start from scratch and go through French nursing school.
French nursing schools are called institution de formation en soins infirmiers, or IFSI for short. It seemed like IFSI are not used to having international students because most of their websites did not have dedicated information pages for foreign students and their admissions departments were not well-versed in the path to take either.

The DAP: Not Needed After All

I was led to believe that filing a demande d'admission préalable (DAP) was required for any non-EU student applying for a Bachelor's program in France as that is literally what is stated on the Minister of Higher Education's website. However, this seems to just be a forgotten governmental bureaucratic thing that is unknown and ignored by the schools themselves. I emailed some IFSIs about it.
Asking a Bordeaux IFSI about the DAP
Asking a Lille IFSI about the DAP
I had already taken the TCF to prove my French-language proficiency, since I had read the TCF was used to file DAPs. In light of the DAP's nonessential-ness, I would definitely recommend to take the DELF B2 or DALF if you do want to prove language proficiency. Of note, none of my applications to IFSIs even asked me to furnish any certificates of French proficiency so it seems it's not needed per se. I did mention my DELF certification though in my essay prompts.

Parcoursup

The IFSI application process is done entirely through Parcoursup, which is an online platform that processes applications for all higher education institutions in France. Parcoursup is not affiliated or integrated in-house with any IFSI. The IFSIs just use it as a third-party platform to receive applications.
I was 25 with two-and-a-half years of nurse experience at the time of application. As I was filling out my Parcoursup profile, I noticed that it was evidently geared toward fresh high school grads with no real world experience. You have to detail your last five years of schooling; I had been out of school since 2021 so I had to put non scolarisé for the past three years and then scour my old college transcript fill out the 2018–2021 sections. In the Activités et centres d'intérêt section are four short essay prompts, which are optional. I filled 3 out of 4 prompts.

Conscious of my being a foreign applicant, I emphasized my American-ness as well as my love for French language/culture to distinguish me from domestic applicants.
Once your profile is complete, you send vœux (applications) to regions of IFSIs. It's weird because you don't apply to individual IFSIs. You pick up to three cities or general regions in which you would like to attend school—in my case, Paris, Bordeaux, and Lille—and send a vœu each to a grouping of IFSIs in the desired locations.
For each vœu, you write a letter of motivation. Being that a vœu is for multiple schools in one region, I could not tailor the letter to one specific school. In my letter, I emphasized the cross-cultural competency that my being American would bring (especially being able to speak English) as well as my professional competence already being a working nurse for two years. Each letter of motivation was a variation of:
[Mon nom].

Conclusion

So that brings me to the present-day with my two offers of acceptance in Paris. I am still waiting on responses from Bordeaux and Lille.
In one of the emails above, the liaison for the Bordeaux IFSIs mentions that students who already have a foreign nursing degree can make requests to skip some classes by providing a detailed syllabus of their nursing degree.
I will always harbor affection for France, a country that has graced me with so many transformational experiences. But I think I will try making a go of it forging my future in the States. I'll try to visit often though!
