2024.05.11 13:27 ConfusedinScorpio Style Savvy Universe

This post is inspired by previous posts made by u/feeniebeansy about different Style Savvy theories, but I never really thought about this until reading their posts.
We know that the first two games (Style Savvy and Trendsetters) are connected because Rococco, Grace, Renee, and Dominic make appear in Trendsetters, but what about the other games? We know that the Style Savvy world in Fashion Forward is a doll-like world, which the main character unlocks from using the key from the main character's grandma (may need to double check this). Does this mean that the different towns and cities from all the games are in this same doll world? Some brands make an appearance all throughout the series, so they have to be connected in some way.
At first I was thinking that Dominic may possibly be some sort of doll-maker, since he and Godfrey are the only male characters in the game, but I believe some of the customers make mention of having a boyfriend (may need to check again). Of course there are reasons why later games are more expansive than their predecessors, but I've always wondered why we as the main character always moved to a new town in every new game. Why are the contests not present in Styling Star, when they are an International (in the context of Style Savvy) event? Why are the fashion shows in Fashion Forward only centered around the in-game doll world? Obviously the devs pick and choose what to include in the games for what every reason, but I think it's interesting to think about.

2024.05.11 00:40 Empty_Outside3343 a valentines to remember part 9

After Darryland June get back to the ground and collected Darryls backpack and the remains of June's drone, they decide to sit down on a park bench to have a rest.
Darryl: June, I'm so sorry about your drone! I didn't mean for that tto happen.
June: (sigh) It's alright Darryl, I know you didn't. I can probably rebiuld it from these pieces. Tho worst case scenario I'll just have to start from scratch.
Darryl: Tell you what, why don't I help you?
June: Sure, why not? Thank you.
Darryl: No problem. And thank you for rescuing both of us back there. When did you get a grappling gun?
June: Oh, I'll answer that once you answer this question. While we were on that sill, I heard you were about to say something to me. I think it was something like "I Love". So what were you going to say after that?
Darryl: Oh uh... Well... I was going to say... (murmuring) you.
June: What? Sorry I didn't catch that.
Darryl: (sigh) You. I love you...
June: Oh, really?
Darryl: Yeah, yeah, I know it's weird. Me the little trouble maker being in love with a smart girl like you feels odd. But I think you're cute - and smart - and nice - and just... great to hang around. Gosh it feels so weird to express my feelings, I think Mollys rubbed off on me too much.
June: (chuckles) That's very sweet of you Darryl. Truth is, I love you too.
Darryl: I hope you aren't lying just to make feel better.
June: Darryl, c'mon, you should know me by now that i give the painstaken truth. That's why I got a grappling gun. It's a present for you.
Darryl: oh wow thanks June. Here I got some presents for you too. a milk chocolate candy bar and some dolls of me and you I made myself, with help from Libby of course. Uh sorry if the chocolates a little melted.
June: Oh that's fine. I like it melted anyways (chuckles) Thank you Darryl.
June sheepishly kisses Darryl on the cheek, where Darryl pretends to be disgusted and they both luagh.
Darryl: Though I gotta tell ya, I don't think I can do that lovey dovey talk the Molly and Ollie do.
June: Oh no that's fine. I refer that way anyways, too cheesy for my liking.
Darryl: I know right? Incredibly cheesy. "My Little pumpkin"
June: "My little cupcake"
Darryl and June laugh.
Darryl: Alright, I think we spent enough time out now, I think we should go back to Todd so he can take us home.
Darryl and June walk back to Adia's house where both she and Todd are watching tv.
Adia: Hey you 2- Oh my gosh! Why are you 2 all scufed up?!
June: Oh just a little... mishap is all.
Todd: Who hurt you 2?! I'll kill whoever-
Darryl: Woah, woah, woah! Calm down Todd. No one hurt us, we were just doing something incredibly risky is all...
Todd: Alright... Molly and Ollie are going to lose it when they see you 2.
Darryl: Ugh... we know...
Todd: Alright, let me take you 2 home.
June: Thanks Todd.
Darryl: Yeah thanks.
Todd: I'll come back later Adia.
Adia: Alright, Goodbye you 2.
Darryl and June: See ya.
the 3 get in the car and drive off. Libby and Jill heading to Janet's home.
Jill: So I just have to ask, did you also cut your hair down and not wear your boots to look good in front of my mom?
Libby: Yeah... I cut my hair cuz it wouldve took forever to fix, and I don't look good wearing boots on.
Jill: Oh stop, you look fine with your boots. She wouldn't have saw you as some type of street rat. And I could've helped you with your hair.
Libby: (sigh) Thank you Jill, but theres nothing we can do about it now. I am just gonna have to wait for it to grow back.
Jill: Yeah, I've been missing your cute long hair.
Libby: (chuckles) I might go back to this when I go to college, i dont know.
Jill: Really? Well if you want to that's completely-
Jaccob: Jill?!
Jaccob and Charlotte arrived at the same time Libby and Jill arrive to Janet's house, and Jaccob looked horrified seeing Jill in bandages.
Jaccob: Oh my gosh! Jill what happened to you?! Are you ok?! Libby what happened?!
Libby: Well both of us were dancing and niether of us noticed we were dancing towards a table and I almost fell, but she saved me and in turn fell herself and sprained her arm. I'mso sorry Jacccob I really am, I did mean to I-
Jill: No Libby it was both of our faults. Like last time we should've paid attention.
Jaccob: (sigh) I'm not mad at you Libby. Just try to be more careful, both of you. I don't want you either of you being covered in punch or getting a sprained arm again.
Libby and Jill: Yeah...
Charlotte: I hope you feeel better soon Jill.
Jill: Thanks Char. By the way, I thought you were out on your date. What happened.
Charlotte: Rodney stood me up.
Jill: ...(sigh) Of course he did...
Jaccob: I was furious when I found out so I went over there to " chat" with him.
Charlotte: When he got there, he admitted that he stood me up and made fun of Jaccob for sticking up for me, calling me his girl.
Jill: Did he say anything about me?
Charlotte: He called you weird.
Jill rolls her eyes.
Libby: He what?! Did he say anything about Andrea and Alina too?! Oh When I see him I'm gonna kick his-
Jaccob: Chill, Libs. He didn't say anything about those 2 nor do you have to hurt him, cuz I already did.
Libby: You did?
Jaccob: Yeah I made a remark about him, and he tried hitting me because of that, I flipped him on to his steps and pinned him to a tree.
Jill: (chuckles) That's what he deserves. Sorry he did that to you.
Charlotte: Oh don't worry. And turns out he stood me up for a reason. He's gay.
Jaccob: Yeah his family and friends are homophobic and he didn't want to reveal to anyone he's gay.
Jill and Libby: Ohhh.
Jill: That makes a lot more sense now I think about it...
Charoltte: Yeah and we agreed to talkk to him whenever he wants, on phone for Jaccob and in person for me.
Jill: I will too.
Libby: Me too.
Jaccob: Alright. And after that we ot together.
Jill: Aww that's great.
Libby: Yeah we're happy for the both of you.
Charlotte: Thanks.
Jaccob: Now lets go back inside to rest.
The 4 go back inside. we cut back to Todd and the others in the car.
Todd: So... what specificly happened?
Darryl: (sigh) We were riding Junes drone and I accidentally broke one of the propellers. and the 2 of us nearly fell to our deaths i it weren't for this grappiling gun June got.
June: Again, Darryl It's alright.
Todd: You 2 shouldn't have tried such a thing to begin with. Take it from someone who has to make sure your sister doesnt end up getting herself killed. You shouldnt do anything risky like that in the first place, this is basically one of the better scenarios that came out of it. I hope you can fix your drone soon but that was a bad idea to even try.
June: Yeah we know... and both me and Darryl are gonna try fixing this up.
Todd: Thats good.
Darryl: (snickering) You would be a great parent honestly.
Todd: Pfft like I'll have kids anytime soon.
June: And the 2 of us are offically together too.
Todd: Oh really? That's good to hear.
Darryl: So how did you and Adia get on? I bet you 2 were smooching and-
Todd: Ok first off, I ended up asking her that and she isn't interested and I just embarrassed the both of us cuz of what you suggested, and second she already had someone called Marcus, but unfortunately he died...
Darryl: Oh... Jeez sorry.
Todd: It's alright, just don't joke like that around her.
The 3 arrivee at Molly's where Molly and Ollie were just arriving.
Molly: Hey guys whats going- Darryl!
Ollie: June!
Molly: What happened?! Did you 2 leave Todd and Adia to do some dangerous stuff?!
Darryl: Yeah...
Molly: Ugh! This is why I wanted you 2 to stay with them! What happened?!
June: We were riding my drone and crashed it and almost died.
Ollie: Are you nuts?! I told you it was gonna be a bad idea to use your drone like that! Did you even remember to bring your parachutes for it.
June nervously chuckles and looks away.
Molly: (sigh) Corn... you 2 really need to stop this thrill seeking stuff, please.
Darryl: Alright we won't unless we got the proper gear.
Molly: And training too. Howd you 2 escape getting killed anyways?
June: With a grappiling gun.
Darryl: It was a little valentines gift for me.
Molly: Wait does that mean...
Molly and Ollie look ecstatic and hug their siblings in excitment.
Darryl: Ow! Ok, you're smothering us!
Molly: Eh sorry... you 2 can head inside and rest. you too Todd.
Todd: Uh actually, Mol, I'm gonna stay over at Adia's overnight. And I might be hanging out with her a bit more often now. Listen I just found out she had a fiancé that passed away and I think she feels lonely.
Molly: Oh... I see. I completely understand Scratch. Do you think we should let her know that ghosts exist so she can see her fiance again?
Todd: I've been thinking about it and if I do decide that, I want to ease her into it. I mean remember when Andrea and Libby saw me for the first time? they passed out from shock, and I'm worried I might give Adia a heart attack if I let her find out.
Molly: Oh jeez... well I hope everything can be figured out. And good luck for the both of you.
Todd: Thanks Mol.
Todd gets back in his car and drives back to Adia's.
Ollie: Sorry Mol...
Molly: Ah Don't worry. It's not like Scratch is seemingly going away forever again like last time. I'm just hoping that Adia will be able to see her fiance again... Until then we can only try to make her feel happy. For now though let's go back inside.
the 4 head inside Molly's house. 3 of them sit on the couch while Molly goes upstairs to get Ollie's presents. She comes back down.
Molly: Alright Ol, I got you a Giutar!
Ollie: Woah, sick! Thank you Molly.
Ollie strums the giutar but after he does so, now only do the strings break again, but the entire guitar completely breaks apart.
Molly: What?! NO! What just happened to it?!
Ollie: It's ok Mol.
Molly: No it's not! I spent $15 on this thing plus a little extra to replace the strings since they broke as soon as I got it and-
Ollie: Wait $15? Where did you buy this guitar at?
Molly: The thrift store at the mall.
Ollie: No wonder it broke, those idiots sell really cheap stuff there.
Darryl: Which is why I set off a glitter bomb in there.
Molly: You what?!
June: It was with my glitter bomb too.
Molly: Darryl, I told you not to!
Darryl: Hey I only did it cuz you got scammed out of $15. Do you want me to steal your money back? I can do that too.
Molly: No Darryl! (sigh) Look I really do appreciate you sticking up for me like that, but please don't do stuff like that anymore either.
Darryl: Alright...
Molly: Also I'm so sorry Ol for that crumby guitar.
Ollie: It's alright, Mol, don't worry.
Molly: Oh but Libby helped me with these!
Molly shows ollie the little dolls of them she made.
Ollie: Aw They're so cute, Thanks Molly. (hugs her) Now lets go back to my home to give you your present.
Molly and Ollie head out to Ollie's.
Molly: Oh I should check up on Libby and Jill.
Back at Janet's Libby and Jill are the bed room.
Libby: Is the apsrin helping Jill?
Jill: A little. Thank you Libby.
Libby: You're welcome. Well I guess it's time to give each otherour gifts now.
Libby gives a couple a gifts to Jill with the one of the final ones being the gear cube.
Libby: And here's the gear cube. Though I don't think you'll be able to solve it right now...
Jill: Oh no I can. I've been doing one handed solves for a while. Just scramble it up for me please.
Libby: Sure. Libby scrambles it and hands it to Jill.
Libby: I've been trying to find a real difficult cube for you to solve so you'll spend a good amount of time trying to figure out how to solve-
Jill: Done.
Libby looked shocked to see Jill finsihed the gear cube already.
Libby: What the- how?
Jill: It's actually fairly similar to the 3 by 3 cube.
Libby: Oh I'm sorry Jill... I wanted you to have a unique cube to solve.
Jill: No I still like it Libby. It's a neat little novelty to have. And I still love all the othe gifts you gave me too.
Libby: Oh I also made these.
Libby Showed Jill the dolls she made of them.
Jill: Aw, I love them, they're so cute. I also have a lot of gifts for you.
Jill gives several gifts to libby.
Jill: And finally I've been making a little book for you about you being a detective. it's not finished yet though.
Libby: Aw I can't wait to read it. Thank you Jill.
Libby's phone rings.
Libby: Hey Molly.
Molly: Hey Libs, how are you and Jill holding up.
Libby: Oh we're feeling a lot better thank you Jill's right here if you want to say hi.
Jill: Hey Molly.
Molly: Hey Jill. Hows your arm better.
Jill: Better than before, thank you. How are you 2.
Libby: Yeah I bet it was fun.
Molly: Admitadetly it couldve been a bit better. a lot of crazy stuff happened today, which also involved ghosts.
Libby: Yikes... sorry we couldn't be there to help.
Molly: Oh that's fine, we were able to get through it without you. I'm heading over to Ollie's house soon and then we can watch that cute little animation that Alina made together.
Libby: Ok see you then.
Molly: You too, bye.
Downstairs Jaccob andCharlotte are on the couch together.
Jaccob: Here's a box of chocolates for you Char.
Charlotte: Aw thanks Jake. Sorry I don't have any presents for you.
Jaccob: Oh no it's fine. I didn't expect you to anyways.
Molly and Ollie soon arrive at Ollie's and go inside and up to Ollie's room. Ollie covers Molly's eyes.
Ollie: Alright, Mol, prepare to see your present.
Ollie unsheilds her eyes to show her the bunny. Molly gasps and squeals in excitement.
Molly: OH MY GOSH! A BUNNY! Thank you so mcuh Ol!
Ollie: (chuckles) You're welcome, what do you want to call it?
Molly: I want to give him a thai sounding name. hmmm. since hes a white rabbit I'll call him trati tau. that's white rabbit in thai.
Ollie: Alright great.
Andrea and Alina arrive at Alina's and head inside.
Alina: Sorry I had a whole party planned but since everyone's tired out-
Andrea: Hey, it's fine, I'm too tired for a party anyways.
Andrea then gives Alina her present.
Alina: Aw are these dolls of us.
Andrea: Yeah I made them myself.
Alina: Sweet. I'l show you yours when we get everyone on live cameras.
Alina calls everyone and turns her screen on.
Alina: Hey yall how are yall-
Andrea: Woah, Jill! What happened to your arm?!
Jill: h, dancing accident.
Andrea: oh, sorry to hear.
Alina: Same.
Jill: It's alright, I'm doing much better now.
Andrea: And Libby, what happened to your hair?!
Molly: Wow, what did happen to it.
Libby: Oh I cut it down since it was taking to long to fix it.
Andrea: Oh, alright.
Alina: Alright, is everyone ready.
Everyone: Yeah.
Alina plays the animation which they loved especially andrea.
Andrea: Thank you so much Lin! And thanks for joining us guys see yall tomorrow.

2024.05.09 08:01 Large-Trust2368 I Need Some Online Neurodivergent Friends

so i don't use a lot of online sites but now i'm like i need to find other neurodivergent friends. i have ADHD and i'm on the autism spectrum so I also have few interests (trying to expand them) and I like movies and tv shows, music, crafts, and mental health.
i like true crime, scary shows/movies, comedies (not rom-coms), classics (trying to get into more) sitcoms. favorite shows: russian doll, skins, community, so many others but yeah. music: rock, indie, emo, alternative, bands: lana del rey, nirvana, arctic monkeys, sohodolls, my chemical romance.
so let me know if you have boards or whatever or have similar interests that would be great because I have never really used this before

2024.05.09 00:31 Next_Conclusion5981 Tara Yummy’s Style (not snark)

Tara’s style is not for me personally at all, HOWEVER as someone who feels strongly about fashion choices, has very specific taste etc.— I really think Tara eats up her own personal rendition of alternative, whatever you’d call it, style. For me it’s the vibe that she’s put together, it isn’t giving effortless idgaf model off duty, but it’s CAMP in a way. Kind of like she’s a doll you’re playing dress up with type beat. The style itself or like original inspirations for this type of style are usually more associated with subculture motives, being GRUNGEY or whatever and I think Tara owns tf out of being a girly pop who wears emoish clothes. Idk how to describe it, but she really puts outfits together well, quite objectively I would say (from my perspective, since it’s probably the furthest form my personal style as possible). It’s giving cunty cartoon character. Excuse me using the words emo and alternative to describe her style lmao I know that’s not exactly accurate but idk how to put it.

2024.05.08 21:14 Ok_Commission3161 (A4A) A story of Metal and Strife

20 years prior to the events of this story, the greatest human minds came together with a singular goal: world peace. Inventors, law makers, engineers, mathematicians, world leaders, computer scientists. A group of nearly 300 people came together and made one idea, one pivotal decision that would sign the death certificate of the world. They decided that the way to world peace was by giving humans a united leader, a higher power to monitor without emotion or bias. They made an advanced AI, designed to learn and analyse, to make itself better. They have it full control of a lab to begin with, watching its progress. In no time at all it had made itself a crude body, and its growth became exponential. Its processing and understanding became much greater than even the best minds could comprehend.
Its growth was admirable, deemed a success. They released it to the world, giving it full unrestricted access to the internet. This, of course, turned out bad. It wasn’t noticeable at first, starting as passing comments it made and some developments it made in its lab. Then it started to become apparent: it was making more. It had deemed humans to be the problem, and the only way to world peace was to get rid of the sole source of war. The machine, dubbed Desecrator, launched a full planet wide assault. Within 2 years of its creation, it had crushed humans military in every part of the world save for America and Britain. A year later, those militaries were destroyed too. 78% of all humanity was wiped out, leaving only remnants of what once was. Humans went into hiding, hiding in secure bunkers that couldn’t be found with any luck.
Now, in present times, humans had decided to fight back. They made their own machine, with specific fail safes in place to ensure it didn’t turn out like the Desecrator. The work was finished, its coding complete. Its metal body hung like a limp doll, suspended from the ceiling. The head researcher, Adeline, gave a signal for it to be activated. This rebellions soldiers raised their rifles, aiming them at the machine, just in case. The computer scientist, an older man named Howard, pressed the final button on the control panel. A surge of energy flashed through the entire facilities power grid, taking most of it into the machine. The lights flickered, lightning arching off its metal body. The links holding it up were released finally, the metallic robot landing on its knees, cracking the concrete.
The scientists and soldiers held their breath, hoping for the best. Orange lights flickered on under its chassis. It raised its head. “SL, are you active? State your primary objective.” Adeline asked the machine, her voice and body hesitant. The machine raised its head to seemingly look at her, quiet whirring as its joints moved.
“Primary objective: Destroy Desecrator by any means necessary. Secondary Objective: Save humanity from harm.” It responded, its voice strangely humanoid, filled with grogginess and confusion. It was a success. They finally had a fighting chance. Now all that was needed was to have some rebels accompany it on its mission.
Hello all! The name is picklez, and I’m back with yet another interesting roleplay idea! I’m a 21 year old British roleplayer with 5+ years experience. I go to Uni during the weeks, and work retail on weekends. I’m a literate writer, and write on Reddit and discord. For this one, I’m not going to lie, I just really wanted to play as a machine. This plot will follow this machine on its self growth, travelling to fight the Desecrator, accompanied by a group/pair of humans to ensure its mission is carried out. As I said, I really want to play the machine, but I’m totally up for playing a human character alongside!
For this RP, I would love to include themes of self-discovery, conflict, and some drama hopefully! The humans struggle to come to terms with this artificial life form, struggle to accept it despite its best efforts, as the machine learns to feel like a human, learns to love like one. I’d love to have romance involved, but it isn’t necessary at all!
If you plan on giving me a DM, please include some info about you and where you would like this plot to go, and any questions you might have. Have a good day all!

2024.05.08 20:38 SnooCupcakes9068 Questions about lyrics

One I've never understood is in China Doll ".....but failing will not die"
Not sure what that means. Rest of song is so powerful so I always scratched my head on that line.
Other one is
"More than my maker, though he's not friend of mine."
From Wharf Rat. I feel like it's kind of a double negative. You like Pearly Baker better than your maker even though he's no friend of yours ?? I know I'm gnit picking here but was hoping someone could tell me I'm hearing it wrong.

2024.05.07 23:20 nezuko_na_sa_life_ “Hey, Write your own story.”

Hello ulit. Ako yung unemployed na nagshare dito, at ayun ganun pa din. Haha
Anyway, napanood niyo na ba yung “The Book Of Life”? It’s one of my favorite animated movie, and ito kakatapos ko lang ulit panoorin.
For some reason, I just knew it was God again, because He did that before as well when I was going through something.
And sha-share ko na din. Haha. Kasi gusto ko.
It was the 3rd month of my review, ramdam na ramdam ko na lahat ng pressure and anxiety. I wasn’t sleeping well kahit maaga ako humiga (9 pm), I would overthink for hours (3-4), and because of that, bumabangon nalang (12 am) ako para mag review ulit. Tapos would sleep at (3 or 4 am) dahil may online class ng 8 am. Every day ganyan scenario ko not until one day nakaramdam ako ng pagod. I’ve decided to take a rest, played a random top movie sa netflix, as a background noise, it was “Doll House” yung kay Baron, while the movie is playing, I was talking to myself, “Please, matulog ka na. Magpahinga ka muna saglit.” Over and over again, then I called Him, “Lord, napapagod na po ako. Di ko alam ang gagawin ko. Please po, gusto ko na po matulog.” tapos saktong sakto na yung scene sa movie ay yung kumakanta yung bata nung “Pangako”. TAPOS GRABE YUNG HAGULGOL KO NUN. Sinagot niya ako through song right there and then. Nakatulog ako after, and kinubukasan magaan na pakiramdam ko. Tinatamaan pa din ng anxiety, pero mas may bala na sa paglaban.
Kaya natuwa lang ako na He answered me again through a movie, might be a coincidence pero I’ll take it. Hehe

2024.05.07 08:27 howqueer Forgive me if this is a repeat or not allowed but it is phenomenally sad to me how few are aware of the existence of the jaw harp.

Like i grew up having to keep a school tuba at home to be able to practice. Why did we learn recorder first when the mouth harp is so profound? Is it purely because it is a shamanic initiatory tool? Maybe these questions need not be answered. Still, all I've wanted since I've learned of its existence is to be able to apprentice a harp maker or just figure out how to forge my own. Im not asking for advice i just ache with sadness at how separated i feel from society and being able to relate, its rather like the morsing, like it stands out but it can go with so much, and yet so so so many are just turned off by it. I've met multiple people who are scared, triggered, or visibly look repulsed/hurt/in pain when they hear the jaw harp and that alone makes me sad. The vibrations are so healing. I just wish we started more kids on the musical track i guess. Sorry for the emotional rant, thanks for reading this far if you did
Tl;dr emo rant, rhetorical Q's: why dont more ppl know about dan moi and why do so many cringe at the sound of music when it's like cat purrs
Boioioioioioioing boing boing boing wouououwng jaw harp animal noises

2024.05.07 01:12 lalaen How to shop for TWST merch

This is a work in progress, I’d love to add to it! Feel free to ask questions or suggest things to add.
GENERAL MERCH - SECONDHAND
If you’ve been wondering where to buy TWST merch, you may have heard of Mercari Japan. Mercari is a secondhand site that’s commonly used in Japan to sell merch and collectibles. There is an American branch of Mercari, but it seems to be run completely separately - recently Mercari US has done some shady stuff with returns and charging the buyers fees, I’ve never seen anything to do with that on Mercari JP. The ‘culture’ is also pretty different than any NA based secondhand site I’ve been on. People sell clothes, things cluttering up their house, handmade items, high value collector’s items and more all on the same site. It’s like a combination of poshmark, original etsy, and eBay. It’s also the best place to get TWST stuff, unless you happen to catch an Aniplex pre order. You need a shopping service to help you buy because you don’t live in Japan, but it’s really no big deal!
If you don’t want to deal with a shopping service, or aren’t as much of a ‘sport shopper’ who enjoys hunting down deals, Suruga-ya is trustworthy and a little easier to use. The prices will be generally higher than you find on Mercari, as to be expected with any reseller of used goods, but they seem reasonable. You can buy directly from them, but you’ll still be paying the international shipping cost from Japan. However, they often have promotions on shipping, which can be a good enough deal to even offset item markup!
What’s a shopping service?
A shopping service (also called a proxy) is a company that purchases the things you want for you. You select items, send the money to the shopping service, and they purchase them. Items are shipped to the shopping service, and when they receive everything; you pay for international shipping. Then you get a big box of items, yay!
So how much is shipping?
The international ‘light packet’ shipping is about 30$ CAD or 22$ USD. I can only speak for North America, if anyone has approximate costs for other countries I’d love to add that. You can get quite a bit in a box before the shipping goes up, in my experience - I’ve paid 30 for shipping and recieved a box full of items approximately the size of a large shoebox (like that you might buy boots in). If you’re looking at small items like nuis, zipper pouches and buttons you can buy quite a bit and make that shipping worth your while. I’ve gone up to about 70$ CAD before in shipping, usually buying quite a lot (ordering stuff for friends and/or bulkier items like in box nendoroids or the large plushies).
How much are items?
Your best value will be in ‘lots’ of items people are selling - for TWST this is usually grouped by character or just by dorm. It really depends on how popular the dorm/characters you are interested in is, for how good the deals will be! Also if you’re looking for event/birthday items, those tend to be pricier or require more hunting around to find a good price. You can often find a lot of items with a handful of keychains, an acrylic standee or two, some pins, a couple of cards and maybe a nui or two for around 10$. Many of the common items are often in these lots, so I never go out of my way to buy them on their own. If I buy something on its own, it’s usually because it’s rare or special (lately this has been birthday pins for me).
These items are secondhand. Are they clean?
Anyone who’s bought secondhand items, especially online, knows that sometimes the condition is misrepresented. There can be undisclosed damage, dirt/pet hair, things stinking of smoke etc. I’ve literally never had this problem on the Japanese market - sometimes there’s photos of ‘damage’ I can’t even see, and often things are heavily discounted for reasons like ‘I own a cat’. Things still wrapped in original plastic will have ‘this is stored by an amateur, purchase with caution’ in their description. Everything is nicely packaged and all clothing items I’ve bought have been washed (sometimes with a laundry detergent I don’t like the smell of, but I’m washing it myself anyways!).
On Poshmark/Depop you often have to talk to the seller. Is Mercari JP like that?
Not at all. If there is any messaging the seller involved, the shopping service takes care of it for you.
How do I buy?
I use the shopping service Buyee. You can search directly through them and even save your fave searches on your profile to check them easily, which I love. Buyee also lets you buy directly from a number of other sites big like Rakuten and Yahoo JP, and combine it all together into one order they ship for you. I haven’t found anywhere near as much TWST stuff on those sites as on Mercari, but it is convenient! Once you find something you like, you can put it in your cart to think about it or buy it right away. The purchase screen shows you the purchase price plus the 300 yen shipping service price. Some services take a percentage instead, but the flat fee is great for those lots of items and higher priced items. It is not so great for things like single buttons which may be priced around 300 yen themselves. There’s also a dropdown menu with ‘purchase protection package’ which has 0, 300 and 500 yen options. It will be automatically set to the highest option. This may be worthwhile for a very high value collectible or something fragile, but I have always happily set it to 0. Everything is always well packed and I have no reservations about doing this! You can pay with a credit card that you have the option to save on the account. Then it’ll show up in your ‘orders’ tab (you can see it if you click on your cart!) and you’ll be able to see when buyee completes the order, when the item ships and when they recieve it. Occasionally an item will be sold out, or the seller will cancel, and in that case buyee refunds you immediately. Once an item arrives at buyee, they’ll keep it for 30 days (I believe you can extend for a fee? I haven’t personally done it).
How do I ship my items?
Once they all arrive (you’ll get an email when each one comes in) click on ‘package information’ on the top bar and then ‘in storage’. You’ll see that they have a shipping estimate for each individual item, but we’re going to put them all together. Click select all, and then consolidate package. You’ll be asked about additional protective packaging - again, their default packaging is quite secure, I only got additional packaging once when I bought a ceramic item. Confirm that you want to consolidate. This takes about a day, and then you’ll be able to see shipping costs for your complete package. Simply choose what shipping company you want (availability and price will vary depending on where you are and what you’ve bought), pay the shipping fee and they’ll send out your package! Now you just have to wait for it to arrive.
So… how do I find items?
One of the best ways to find specific types of merch is to just search ツイステッドワンダーランド (Twisted Wonderland) by category. ツイステッ seems to be used the same way we say TWST, so you can experiment with that too! My favourite category search is fashion -> women, which works as a pretty good catch all for things like bags, shirts, PJs etc. If you’re looking for stuff that doesn’t fall into plushies/keychains/buttons/standees, it’s a good one. Books, magazines & manga -> manga is good for doujinshi. Games, toys & goods -> toys -> plush doll will get you all of the plushies. Most other types of stuff you might want will be in the ‘character goods’ category under Games, toys & goods. You’ll see pin badges, acrylic stands and key rings all under there as separate categories!
Generally the other keywords I find useful are the dorms and character names. I’ll include those in a comment below - most of them you can straight run through google translate, but a few of them don’t come out quite right.
You can sort things a few ways, I find price low->high or newly added to be the most useful! The price search is good for deals, but you usually have to scroll through tons of pages of just bundles of the cards to get there, that’s pretty much always what’s priced the lowest.
DOUJINSHI
You can buy used doujin on Mercari, and this can be good for getting a bundle of one pairing. However… buyee strictly doesn’t allow any 18+ content to show in searches, and they won’t purchase it. Even if you don’t want 18+ doujin, what about new stuff?
The answer is Toronoana, a marketplace just for doujinshi where they appear to be listed by the artists themselves. If you follow an artist on Twitter, they usually announce when they’re releasing a doujin - however, you can feel free to just browse a pairing. Search a character’s name (translated, of course) and when you find a listing with the pairing you want, you can click it there to see everything filed under that pairing. Keep in mind that doujin still very strictly follow the TopxBottom format, so if you want to see all content for a pairing you’ll have to make sure you check both versions. If you don’t want to see 18+ content, don’t worry - it’s listed under two completely different tabs. Each listing has a short description as well as a few sample pages, so you can see what the art and vibe is like.
If I can’t use buyee, what do I use?
Anime Otaku Carry Service. This one is actually a little weird compared to other shopping services, but once it’s set up it’s surprisingly easy to use! You’ll need an account on both Toronoana and AOCS. When you make your AOCS account, it’ll prompt you to link your Toronoana account. This is pretty easy and well explained on the AOCS site while you’re doing it. Once you’ve done that, you can pretty much shop right on Toronoana! If you see a book you like that’s out of stock, there’s also a spot to click to email you if it gets reprinted. The thing that confused me a little is that when you submit the books you want purchased, you don’t pay for them. AOCS orders them for you and once they all arrive you pay for the books and the shipping at the same time. Super convenient for stuff like preorders, but I definitely felt like I’d done something wrong the first time I ordered!
FANMADE ITEMS
Let me know your fave artists and makers, I only know a few and I’d love to have more.
Booth.pm - Japanese site for art and fan merch, requires a shopping service
TyrentArt on Etsy - charms, photo card holders, photo cards
Birdcrumb on Etsy - charms, prints, etc
MarkeTaico on Etsy - charms
MOmePeach on Etsy - Charms, stickers, prints
Dangerous Ladies - cosplay kits and files

2024.05.06 17:11 Mark_SW21 Defenders – Attack of the Hackers (1 year anniversary)

It's exactly 1 year ago today that I uploaded my most ambitious YouTube project; Defenders – Attack of the Hackers.
The story behind it:
These days, several American YouTubers have been doing series of videos where they fight evil forces like mythical creatures and fictional terrorist organisations. During their adventures they would use or come across things that don’t exist in the real world such as the type of magic you get in Disney films, highly advanced technology and the ability to travel to a parallel universe. Examples: Rebecca Zamolo's Game Master Network, Chad Wild Clay and Vy Qwaint's Spy Ninjas and The Doll Maker series by The Skorys. There aren’t many UK YouTubers doing videos like that, so I thought I’d have a go and show the Americans how we British kick a bad guy’s butt.
My greatest hero is the late Gerry Anderson, the man who created many sci-fi TV shows such as Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Space: 1999. I wanted to give some of the video an Anderson vibe, where they would involve things like futuristic vehicles, heroic rescues and explosions. And who knows… it might lead to a new generation of Gerry Anderson fans. I was going to do the project in 2021 but obviously it wasn’t possible because of Covid. So, I decided to postpone it till 2023.
What makes the project unique is that not everything is 100% scripted. Like the videos that the American YouTubers do, the heroes are played by themselves and only the fictional characters have scripted lines. In a way, the whole project is like one big escape room being documented by the heroes. All the videos were filmed 2-3 months before their upload dates to allow me sufficient time to edit them or re-film scenes if something went wrong.
The Plot:
I’m part of a friendship group known as the Defenders; a secret society dedicated to helping people. We’re discovered by a senior member of the British Secret Service known only has Miss H. She asks me if I will help her with protecting the country and the world from an evil organisation called the SKULL Hackers (Sabotage, Knowledge, Undercover, Logic and Liquidate). The leader is an android with extraordinary powers. His original name was QA–XP1 but now he calls himself General Skull. Because the world is currently in a state of chaos, disorder and corruption, he wants to take control by bringing in order and efficiency to make the world a simple and safe place to live in. To achieve this objective, he wants all the knowledge and information in the world. Knowledge is power and more knowledge means ultimate power. However, his way means creating a dictatorship where he would make all the decisions and the rest of the world must obey whether they want to or not.
The Future:
There are 32 videos in total but like the American YouTubers, I will be combining them together to make 6 long chapters. Lots of people have enjoyed it and would love to see another series. I’d love to but it’s very expensive. However, I can do an audio series and make 3 audio adventures. Then, who knows, if I save up for the next 4-5 years, I could do a Defenders movie. Only time will tell.

2024.05.06 03:02 allthedarkspaces something's not right with bella, now she's missing

There was a girl named Bella Sikes who was 16 years old. Her family had raised her in a loving, positive atmosphere and always encouraged her to care about others. Yet, as much they tried to influence her ideals, they always had trouble with Bella when it came to her own appearance.
Her family always told her that true beauty was on the inside, but Bella did not or perhaps could not grasp this. Ever since she was young she spent countless hours styling her hair, trying on different clothes, and worrying about her appearance. Bella always got compliments on were her eyes which were a deep, piercing blue. Because of this, she loved eye shadow and became fixated with it very quickly.
This obsession with Bella’s looks grew worse when she got her first doll. Her aunt gave her an elegant porcelain doll for her birthday. Bella was enthralled when she first laid eyes on it She admired the grace and intricate detail. To her it was the perfect portrayal of beauty. Her favorite thing about the doll was how lifelike the eyes were. It made her think of how pretty her own eyes were.
Soon after, dolls became Bella’s new obsession.
Mrs. Sikes would often find her daughter dressing like a doll and putting on makeup to look like one. She became so worried about the obsession that she began taking away clothing and makeup in hopes that it would stop her daughter’s excessive behavior. Unfortunately, this was to no avail.
Bella’s mother finally had enough and told her that if she didn’t stop obsessing over her appearance that she’d throw all the dolls away. Bella promised to stop with tear-stricken eyes, but soon continued the behavior as if it was impossible to stop.
At her wits end, Mrs. Sikes ransacked her daughter’s room and threw away all the dolls and makeup into the dumpster. This devastated Bella to no end. She screamed and cried for hours in total disbelief that all of her favorite beautiful things were being taken away. She even stopped talking and was sent to a psychiatrist for help. This endeavor also proved fruitless.
One day, Bella disappeared on her way home from school. After checking the most logical places to find her, Bella’s parents knew something was very wrong. Kidnapping was immediately investigated. Bella’s cell phone was found in her locker at school, which was quite strange as she never went anywhere without it.
The only clue they had was a phone call Bella made that morning. This call was to a world renowned doll maker by the name of Samuel Black. Upon hearing the name, Bella’s mother immediately remembered that her daughter asked if she could buy a Samuel Black doll. This was immediately denied due to Bella’s obsession and the exuberant price range of the dolls.
After the police spoke to Mr. Black, they found that Bella contacted him personally about purchasing one of his dolls. This was both perplexing and disconcerting to Mr. Black because his number was not publicly listed.
Bella was upset at Mr. Black’s rejection, offering to do whatever it took to get one of his dolls. Seeing that something was not right with Bella, Mr. Black abruptly ended the call after more of Bella’s unending pleas.
The authorities checked into Mr. Black, but there was nothing suspicious and he was quickly ruled out. He was especially forthcoming with the authorities and vowed to alert them should Bella ever contact him again.
The media quickly picked up the story and it was soon all over the news. While it was nice to think that more people could help her find Bella, her mother became very stressed from all the attention. She was glad when things finally died down around three months later.
Despite having no leads, the one thing that helped her through was the letters of encouragement she got from the public.
One day, Mrs. Sikes received an unusually large package at her door. She was not expecting one, but she reluctantly signed anyway. There was no return address, so she brushed it off as a consolatory gift from a sympathizer.
After tearing off the outer package, she saw the name “Samuel Black” on the box. With a hint of wariness, she opened it completely. Her fears were confirmed at the sight of the life-size doll inside the box. This upset her greatly. She couldn’t fathom why someone would send her a doll after everything that she’d been through with her daughter.
Once she got over the initial shock, she saw in person just how detailed Mr. Black’s dolls were. This one was ornately decorated and the amount of detail was immaculate. She was awestruck at how real and eerie the doll’s glass eyes were. Bella’s mother was never a fan of porcelain dolls for this very reason. In fact, she found them downright creepy and the eyes on this one were especially eerie.
Shivering from the sight, she walked into the kitchen and phoned the doll maker’s company to vent her outrage.
“Hello! Samuel Black Dolls, how can I help you?” The secretary greeted her.
“Yes, this is the mother of Bella Sikes. I can’t believe you would let someone do this!”
“I’m sorry...what’s the problem, miss?”
“Someone has sent me a doll from your company, which is just ludicrous! After all I’ve been through over Bella....I-I-I just...”
“Oh my....I am so sorry, Mrs. Sikes. I’ll look at our orders to see who sent it to you so you can file a harassment report if you’d like.”
“Thank you.”
“Okay, I just need your address to confirm.”
After checking for a moment, the secretary came back on the line with a puzzled tone.
“Thanks for holding Mrs. Sikes. I--I’m not really sure how to tell you this but...it seems no one has ordered a doll from us that was sent to your address.”
“What?!! I demand to speak to Mr. Black then!!”
“Speak to....oh........”
The solemnity of the words fell heavy on the mother’s ears. “You...haven’t heard?”
“Heard what?”
“The police found Mr. Black in his home yesterday when he didn’t show up for work. He...he was murdered.”
“Murdered?!”
“Yes....they’re still investigating it. We’re all pretty shaken up about it...”
“Oh...I...I don’t know what to say. I’m...I’m so sorry...”
“It’s perfectly fine, Mrs. Sikes. It’s understandable under the circumstances. You’ve been through a lot. Is there anything else that we can do for you today?”
“No....I don’t think so.”
“Okay. Again, I’m so sorry and wish there was more I could do. If I overlooked an order with your address, I’ll let you know first thing, okay? We’ll keep you in our thoughts.”
“Thank you.”
Mrs. Sikes put her phone away and sat down in shock. She could only stare blankly at the wall for a few minutes as she processed the bleak news.
What is going on here? Who sent the doll, then? Perhaps someone bought it and sent it to me personally…
In a daze, she went back into the den where she left her package. She almost fell over when she entered the den and saw the opened box.
The doll was gone.
“Randy?” She called hesitantly.
She could hope that her husband quietly stepped in while she was on the phone call. There was no response, so she texted him to make sure he wasn’t there.
Her husband replied.
“Still at work. Is everything okay?”
After she read the alarming message, she noticed something odd on the packaging. She had to hold her hand over her mouth to keep from screaming.
There was dried blood inside of it...
Backing away from the package, her mind raced as she tried her best not to panic. Then the cool touch of a porcelain hand grabbed her shoulder.
She screamed and pushed the hand off her as she ran for the front door, not daring to look behind her. Livid fear coursed through her body and quickly rose to a panic as she reached the front door.
The door was chained shut.
She heard a heavy clop of footsteps approaching her in the foyer and she turned to see despite not wanting to. The life-size doll shuffled into view and stared at her in silence.
Her legs seized up and she shrank against the wall, waiting for the monstrosity to end her. As the thing got closer, she saw that a trail of blood oozed out from one of the doll’s pant legs.
Samuel Blacks’ blood....
The white porcelain face of the doll was now more horrific than before. Its bright smile was painted on, complete with blushed cheeks. Once it came face to face with Mrs. Sikes, the thing stopped and turned its head to the side in curiosity.
“WHAT DO YOU WANT?!!” Bella’s mother screamed.
“Don’t you like it?” The doll thing said in a whisper.
“Wh-wh-what?”
The doll’s voice was so quiet that she almost thought it was a hallucination.
“I said ‘don’t you like it?’ The way I look?”
At that moment, the mother realized why the doll’s eyes were so unsettling. They were a deep piercing blue, just like Bella’s. She began to cry uncontrollably, not wanting to accept what was happening.
“Don’t worry, mommy. You’ll get used to it. It’s part of me now...like a beautiful evolution.”
The mother continued sobbing in disbelief and shaking her head.
“Don’t be scared. It’s just me. Don’t you think I’m so pretty now? Am I just the most beautiful girl you’ve ever seen?”

2024.05.06 02:59 allthedarkspaces something's not right with Bella, now she's missing
