🔗Emerald Gel Polish - Shine in 30 Seconds

https://preview.redd.it/d65snmyjg42d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0e2d431a145797fb698075aabc34cb81b91a5fc
I recently tried the Le Mini Macaron Gel Polish in Emerald Green and I must say, it completely changed my at-home manicure game. The color is a lush, dark shade of green that's perfect for adding a pop of color to any outfit. It's a vivid, cool hue that effortlessly embodies autumn vibes.
One of the things that I absolutely love about this product is its 3-in-1 feature. It not only acts as a base coat but also combines the color and top coat into one bottle. This not only saves time but also eliminates the need for multiple nail polish bottles, making my manicure kit a lot less cluttered.
Another highlight of this gel polish is its incredibly fast drying time. Using the Le Mini Macaron LED lamp, my nails are cured and ready to go in just 30 seconds! This is a game-changer for those who are impatient like me, as we no longer have to wait around for our nails to dry.
However, there are a few cons to consider with this product. First, the smell can be quite strong and chemical-like, which might cause headaches for some users. Second, the application process requires thin coats to avoid any issues like shrinking or unevenness.
Overall, the Le Mini Macaron Gel Polish in Emerald Green has been a game-changer for my at-home manicures. Its 3-in-1 feature and quick drying time make it a convenient and time-saving option. While there are some drawbacks such as the smell and the need for thin coats, these can be easily managed with proper preparation and application techniques. I would wholeheartedly recommend this product for anyone looking to elevate their gel nail game.

🔗Green Glitter Gold Silver Gel Nail Polish Set

https://preview.redd.it/rkl4q3nkg42d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=679b8a2e0b4e515195476c73aba96e22863f412a
Imagine yourself prepping for the perfect New Year party, wanting to get in on the latest nail trends. The Beetles Gel Nail Polish Set has come to your rescue, promising stunning and classic colors suitable for the New Year festivities.
Upon opening, the first thing you notice is how the colors pop - the deep greens, vibrant reds, and shimmering gold, silver, and glitter varieties have left you in awe. You're excited to try them all!
Now, to the application process. As someone with some experience in this area, applying the polish definitely strikes a balance between too thick and too runny, but after a few tries, you find your rhythm. One good thing is that the application doesn't require a whole lot of time, making it a quick addition to your beauty routine. While some may find the polish hard to apply due to its gooey texture, others might like it because it gives the polish a slightly thicker appearance that lasts longer.
When it comes to longevity, the product's promises aren't fully met. While the glitter in the polish does add a lovely touch of sparkle, it doesn't seem to make the nail polish last any longer than a week. However, it's worth mentioning that some users had success in making the polish last three weeks or more with proper application.
The drying time can vary from person to person. In general, it dries relatively quickly, but depending on the thickness of your application, you might need to extend your waiting time.
Another notable aspect is that a few users reported receiving defective products. This could indicate some inconsistency in quality control, but overall, the set offers pretty colors and decent functionality.
In conclusion, the Beetles Gel Nail Polish Set is a stylish addition to your nail care collection, particularly if you love changing up your nail colors as frequently as you change your clothes. Despite some minor issues with the gooey polish and short longevity, the product provides value for money, making it a worthwhile purchase. However, do keep in mind that a UV lamp is required for proper curing, a detail that might catch some users off guard.

🔗DND Nail Lacquer in Green Forest, AK

https://preview.redd.it/8ysuirxkg42d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c68a1ca3f2150198cc1159cf63a03dd98a99f1b5
I recently tried DND Nail Lacquer's Green Forest, AK in my daily life, and I must say I'm quite impressed. The color is a beautiful deep green that reminded me of autumn leaves, and the shine was top-notch - giving it a glossy finish that lasted for three weeks without any signs of chipping or peeling. The product soaked off easily and quickly in about 10-15 minutes, which was a definite highlight for me.
However, one minor issue I noticed was the application process. It took slightly longer than expected due to its slightly thicker consistency compared to other nail lacquers I've used before. Despite this minor hiccup, DND Nail Lacquer still gets a thumbs up from me. Not only does it offer an impressive variety of colors at affordable prices, but also, being made in the USA adds to its overall appeal. The product's longevity and easy removal make it worth trying if you're in search of a high-quality nail lacquer that lasts.
One thing to keep in mind is that the color might appear slightly different on your device due to screen variations. Always do your research before making a purchase, but overall, I recommend giving this nail lacquer a shot. It's definitely worth the investment!

🔗Dark Green DND Nail Lacquer - Long Lasting & Easy to Apply

https://preview.redd.it/qcclr8ilg42d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3485fbfbdb8f3192d5895e3a92108f7f1cf25ed9
I recently came across the DND Nail Lacquer in 785 Green Colors and I've been using it for the last couple of weeks. It's a top-notch product with a high gloss finish that lasts for up to three weeks without any chipping or peeling. Plus, it only takes 10-15 minutes to remove, so it's quite hassle-free compared to some other nail polishes I've used in the past.
One of the standout features of this product is the incredible range of 379 colors available. I can't count the number of times I've been stuck in a nail salon, unable to find that perfect shade, but with DND's collection, we're spoilt for choice! I particularly love how fast they apply and how they feel thinner and more comfortable than other polishes I've tried. And did I mention that this professional quality nail polish is made in the USA?
However, there is a slight snag - the colors can look a bit different on different screens. I don't think it's a significant issue, but I do wish there was a better way to sample the colors before purchasing. That said, the overall quality and performance of DND Nail Lacquer are worth the investment. I'm already planning on trying out some other shades soon!

🔗DND Gel Polish - Green Forest, AK (568)

https://preview.redd.it/s19k3mmlg42d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45b608cc20acc27dac665bc5d0e437aef2ba33e7
I recently tried out DND's Green Forest 568 gel polish for a fun change to my regular mani-pedi routine, and I must say, I'm absolutely in love with it! This product offers a high gloss shine that lasts for up to three weeks with no chipping or peeling, making it a perfect choice for those of us who lead busy lives and don't have the time to touch up our nails every other day.
One of the highlights of this gel polish is how easy it is to apply. The brush glides smoothly over your nails, allowing for quick and even coverage. Plus, with its LED and UV curing technology, you can be sure that your color will set perfectly in no time at all. I also appreciated how quick the removal process was; using only 10-15 minutes to soak off the polish without causing any damage to my natural nail.
However, there were a few cons that I encountered during my experience with this product. Firstly, the color may appear different on your monitor compared to when it's applied on your nails, which can lead to some unexpected surprises when choosing your desired shade. Additionally, the consistency of the polish can be on the thicker side, making it slightly more challenging to work with than other gels I've tried in the past.
Despite these minor setbacks, I would still highly recommend giving DND's Green Forest 568 gel polish a try. With its long-lasting wear and easy application process, it's definitely worth considering for your next at-home manicure!

🔗DND Professional Glossy Dark Green Nails

https://preview.redd.it/cqy2gs0mg42d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05895ad7937394ee6b83e571d5c5c544f9bf95db
My experience with 790 Divine Green has been an absolute delight. The gel polish lasts for weeks without any chipping or peeling, which is a massive win for me since I'm always on the go. The application process is straightforward, following the 3 step system perfectly. The color selection is vast, and I absolutely love the professional finish it gives to my nails - not to mention the countless compliments I receive from friends and family alike!
However, I'll be honest, some colors could be a little more opaque as I've found certain ones to be quite sheer, requiring multiple coats. This can be a bit time-consuming, but the end result is worth the effort. Another minor downside is the scent of the polish, it's not overbearing but it's definitely noticeable.
Overall, I'm thoroughly happy with my purchase. The 790 Divine Green is a game-changer for me, helping me achieve that flawless, long-lasting manicure that I've always desired. The ease of application and the stunning array of colors available have made it a staple in my beauty routine. Sure, there might be some cons but for me, the pros significantly outweigh them.
Product Review Content:
My personal journey with the 790 Divine Green has been an outstanding one. Imagine the joy of having a professional-looking, long-lasting manicure without the hassle of frequent touch-ups. This product has made my dream a reality!
From the get-go, following the 3 step system was a breeze. Each layer of the polish added just the right amount of color and gloss, leaving me with a stunning final result that's been receiving non-stop compliments.
However, as with every product, there's room for improvement. Some colors tend to be quite sheer, requiring additional coats to achieve the desired opacity. This may be time-consuming, but the end result is truly magnificent. Another minor issue is the scent of the polish. It's not overpowering, but it is noticeable.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I would highly recommend the 790 Divine Green. The ease of use, the stunning array of colors, and the professional-looking finish make it an excellent addition to any beauty routine. If you're looking for a reliable, long-lasting option for your nails, look no further!

🔗Arctic Fox Phantom Green Vegan Nail Polish

https://preview.redd.it/8uedv6nmg42d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e3276d69b81add7cea349205501b154cca2ddf0
I've been using this nail polish for a while now, and I must say it's a game changer. The color, Phantom Green, is stunning and definitely gives off a unique vibe. It's perfect for those who want to stand out in a crowd, or for someone trying to match their nail color with their outfit.
The one thing that truly impressed me about this nail polish is its longevity. I'm not exaggerating when I say it lasts for days without chipping, even with my hands-on work. This has made my life so much easier - no more worrying about constant touch-ups!
However, there's one small issue that I found. Its drying time can be quite long, especially if you're impatient like me. You need to give it some extra minutes for it to completely dry, which can be a bit of a hassle.
In terms of application, I'll give it a thumbs up. The brush is the right size, allowing for easy application. The formula is smooth, non-sticky, and not too thick, making it easy to spread evenly on the nails.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. The color is unique and eye-catching, the formula is long-lasting and chip-resistant, and the application process is smooth and easy. Despite the longer drying time, I'd say it's definitely worth trying out.

Buyer's Guide

When it comes to nail color, dark green has become an increasingly popular choice in recent years. These rich, earthy tones can enhance your natural skin tone, add depth and dimension to your manicure, and even provide a sophisticated twist to any outfit. However, not all dark green nail polishes are created equally. To help you navigate the vast world of nail products, we've created a comprehensive buyer's guide for dark green nails. In this guide, we will discuss important features, considerations, and general advice about choosing the perfect dark green nail polish for your needs.

https://preview.redd.it/u4rkravmg42d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a99c54fa00468da8860da817d47209b95487c2f

Consider the Finish

The finish of your nail polish will have a significant impact on the overall look and feel of your manicure. Dark green nail polishes come in a variety of finishes, including creme, shimmer, Metallic, and glitter. Cream finishes offer a smooth, opaque coverage that's perfect for those who prefer a classic look. Shimmer finishes add a touch of glamour and dimension with micro-glitter particles, creating a subtle sheen. Metallic finishes have an almost liquid-like appearance, reflecting light and creating a bold and eye-catching effect. Glitter finishes are perfect for special occasions or when you want to make a statement, with a dense layer of glitter particles that create a dazzling, multidimensional appearance.

Choose the Right Undertone

Dark green nail polish comes in a range of undertones, from cool, blue-based tones to warm, yellow-based ones. The undertone you choose can help accentuate your skin tone and enhance your natural features. Cooler-toned dark greens, like emerald and forest green, complement those with cool, pink undertones in their skin. Warmer, yellow-based greens, like olive and khaki, look stunning on those with warm, golden undertones. If you're unsure about your skin's undertone, consider asking a friend or makeup artist for their opinion, or take an online quiz to determine your true skin tone.

Apply with Care

When applying a dark green nail polish, it's important to take your time and use a light touch. Darker colors can be more prone to streaking and dragging if applied too thickly or too quickly. Start by applying a base coat to protect your natural nails and promote longer-lasting color. Next, carefully apply one thin coat of dark green nail polish, being sure to smooth out any brush strokes as you go. Allow the first coat to dry completely, before applying a second thin coat for optimal coverage and depth. Finally, finish your manicure with a clear top coat to seal in the color and provide added shine and durability.

Experiment with Designs

Dark green nail polish is a versatile color that lends itself well to a variety of nail art designs. Whether you prefer simple, elegant looks or bold, statement-making manicures, there's a design to suit every style. For a classic look, consider applying a single coat of dark green nail polish and topping it off with a gold or silver accent nail. For those who love making a bold fashion statement, try incorporating dark green into an intricate nail art design, such as a floral, ombre, or geometric pattern. Don't be afraid to experiment with different colors and techniques to create a one-of-a-kind manicure that showcases your unique sense of style.
By keeping these tips in mind, you'll be well-equipped to choose and apply the perfect dark green nail polish for your needs. So go ahead and indulge in the rich, earthy tones of this stylish and versatile color, and enjoy the confidence and charm that comes with a stunning, sophisticated manicure.

How do dark green nails complement different skin tones?

How often should I change my nail color between dark green manicures?

It's generally recommended to change your nail color every 2-3 weeks, depending on how fast your nails grow and the condition of your polish. A few popular nail polish brands that offer dark green shades include OPI, Essie, China Glaze, and Sally Hansen. Some more luxury options include Dior, Chanel, and Tom Ford.

How can I remove dark green nail polish without causing staining?

To remove dark green nail polish without staining, use a non-acetone, oil-based nail polish remover. This will dissolve and lift the polish more gently than harsh chemicals found in regular removers, minimizing staining and preserving the health of your nails and cuticles.

2024.05.23 06:03 ridgered type me based on the questionnaire?

To preface, I know that the 16p quiz may not be entirely accurate; however, I received an INFP result when I took it years ago. After learning about cognitive functions and taking various tests, my results have consistently been INxx or ISTJ. Because of this, I am still unsure, so I've decided to respond to some questions in the pinned post to help figure out my type.
I am a 22-year-old female college student pursuing double majors in English and Education.
The only possibility that comes to mind is having symptoms similar to OCD and ADHD.
Raised in a conservative Catholic family, with my mother's Cuban and Costa Rican/Nicaraguan heritage and my father's Belgian roots, I initially leaned towards conservatism to align with my family's beliefs. My father's family, being more progressive, lived in Belgium, so my conservative relatives influenced my upbringing. However, during my senior year of high school and college, I began to form my views as I sought to understand the world better. This shift in perspective has unfortunately led to conflicts with conservative family members who are reluctant to accept that some of their beliefs may have been shaped by propaganda.
I enjoy spending time alone, as being constantly around people is draining and inhibits my ability to truly relax and be myself.
I love to brainstorm story concepts and develop character profiles in my leisure time. Often, I become so engrossed in exploring various scenarios that I delay the writing process to focus on the intricacies of their existence and the creation of their world. Besides that, I enjoy puzzles— logic puzzles, crosswords, cryptograms, or sudoku. Reading is another pastime, though not as frequent, given the extensive reading required for my English major. My hobbies are of the indoor variety. Athletic pursuits aren't my forte, and my hand-eye coordination leaves much to be desired.
From childhood, my relentless curiosity often exasperated my family. I was always inquiring about the mechanics and reasons behind things' operations. My barrage of questions, aimed at family or anyone around, covered any topic that sparked my interest. It felt like hopping from one question to another. Nowadays, I funnel this curiosity into crafting stories, allowing me to delve into various ideas and characters.
I enjoy working behind the scenes, aiding others' learning by simplifying procedures as much as possible. My most significant annoyance is when tasks are done inefficiently or incorrectly. While I don't like being fully in charge, I take control only when those who are supposed to lead need to perform more adequately.
Absolutely. Hypocrisy and logical fallacies are intolerable to me. They often become a source of disagreement within my family, as several relatives tend to argue with various fallacies and persistently deny the flaws in their reasoning despite my efforts to clarify them.
I learn best through discussions, so I thrive as an English major. Tests are stressful for me, as studying isn't my strong suit. I have a poor memory and tend to think more conceptually.
In an ideal world, I would break down my tasks and finish them punctually. Yet, this method often bores me, and I find that immersing myself in an assignment or task is necessary to do it justice. Consequently, I finish things at the last minute and procrastinate.
My life's ambition is to secure a job that I genuinely enjoy and provides sufficient income to support my hobbies during my leisure time.
During the high points in my life, I am inspired and motivated to accomplish the tasks at hand. My thoughts are imbued with greater positivity and optimism. This often stems from a sense of having deciphered a challenging problem. Typically, it manifests as perfecting a method for my work that had previously eluded me.
In my life's low moments, I often feel overwhelmed and listless. Everything seems attainable and meaningful. I struggle to recognize my worth and long to flee from reality into daydreams and fantasies.
Sometimes, my daydreams captivate me to the extent that I become oblivious to my surroundings, entirely absorbed by the fictional scenarios unfolding in my mind. In other instances, my detachment from reality is characterized by losing track of time while immersed in various activities. I've set up persistent, nagging reminders to ensure I reach my destinations punctually.
I would likely spend that time generating ideas for future stories I write. The intricate relationships and creative endeavors I envision would fill the emptiness and inevitable loneliness of being in a vacant room.
I struggle with indecisiveness. I tend to take a long time to make decisions because I feel the need to carefully consider every possible outcome to ensure that I'm making the right choice. Relying too much on my instincts can sometimes lead me in the wrong direction, as my fears and doubts can influence my decisions more than logic.
My emotions tend to be more automatic than nuanced sensations. It's challenging for me to pinpoint the reasons behind my feelings. I recognize that something triggers me to feel upset, joyful, or apprehensive. Deciphering these sensations requires me to concentrate on them and rationalize what is occurring to comprehend fully. Sometimes, I wish I could be without emotions, yet there's truly nothing comparable to the thrill of euphoria when it strikes.
I tend to be reserved if I'm not at ease with someone, preferring not to express my thoughts freely. I avoid conflict and dislike arguing unless it's necessary. However, I'm more open to engaging in correction and disagreement with those I'm close to. The sole exception to my aversion to conflict is when misinformation is involved; in such cases, I feel compelled to step in with accurate information to avert potential problems.

2024.05.22 22:49 SmileLouder The 7 Best AI Tools For Educators/Teachers (After Researching & Reviewing Hundreds)

I’ve spent the past year researching AI and looking into different AI tools to help me streamline my workflow and enhance my productivity.
Among the tools I found, there are many that I think could be beneficial for teachers and students.
Below is a list of ones I hope you’ll find helpful (most are free or have free trials).
As an FYI, I have zero financial affiliation with these tools. I run a free AI tools directory site and found them through my research so I thought I'd share with you all.

Brainly - AI Tutoring (Free)

The biggest issue I’ve noticed with AI in the classroom is kids using it to jump straight to the answer rather than using it as a tool to understand how to get the answer. Brainly helps kids work through the problems so they can learn how to answer them on their own.
Note: Chat-GPT is coming out with an update soon that will allow a lot of the same functionality as this tool. Here’s the founder of Khan Academy demoing the new version (it isn’t out yet).

Nolej - Create Interactive Material (Free Trial)

This tool allows you to transform existing materials into dynamic, interactive content. You can upload textbooks, videos, or any online media and have the AI generate multiple assessments and interactive courseware automatically.
Note: You can do something somewhat similar with Chat-GPT (which I mention below).

To Teach - AI Enhanced Teaching Materials (Free Trial)

This tool uses AI to generate subject-specific teaching materials, including exercises, worksheets, and lesson plans, all aligned with your curriculum.

Perplexity - AI Search Engine (Free)

This is the future of search engines. It’s an AI chat bot that cites where it gets its answers. If you dislike Chat-GPT because it sometimes gives wrong answers, you’ll like Perplexity. It’s a great research tool for teachers and students that can be used in a variety of different ways.

Brisk Teaching - AI Automation For Teachers (Free)

This is an AI-powered Chrome extension designed to automate various tasks for educators, such as creating curriculums, assessing student writing, providing feedback, and more. It has an AI presentation maker, quiz maker, lesson plan generator, and rubric creator.

Gamma - AI Presentation Maker (Free)

This is a presentation tool that uses AI to help organize and design presentations. I find it to be 100x better than Powerpoint, Keynote, and Google Slides. There’s one small feature called “spotlight” that I love using because it allows you to blur out the content that you’re not at yet so your audience doesn’t get distracted by skipping ahead. I have a strong feeling this tool is going to overtake all the other presentation apps very soon.

Create Your Own Custom GPT

Chat-GPT allows you to create your own chatbot based off of specific instructions and materials. As a teacher, you could upload all of your course material, share your custom GPT chatbot with your students, and allow them to interact with the material by asking it questions, letting it quiz them, using it for test prep, etc.

2024.05.21 23:01 Common_Fennel1542 WIBTA for telling our friend her parents can't hang out with us?

My husband and I have always gone to a local quiz with our best friend and her boyfriend. We've done it for years! It's something we always look forward to and something we absolutely love, especially as we're a strong team and we usually win! - big-headed I know, but it's true hahaa! 3 months ago we had our first baby and our friend went to a different quiz with her parents. We started going back to the quiz 5 weeks ago and each time, she's brought her parents along. Her boyfriend left her 4 weeks ago and so he stopped coming and her parents continued. We didn't mind as obviously, she might have felt strange coming as a singleton and needed the support from her parents. However, she hangs around with us without them and on her own with us a lot, even before her boyfriend left her. I breastfeed my baby and I always feel quite uncomfortable doing this in front of her parents as I use a nipple shield and I have to place this before feeding. We're new parents and it's a little stressful being in front of them as they sometimes pass comments about what we're doing e.g. 'you're breastfeeding her again?' or 'do you not think you should do x, y, z?' They're nice enough but it is hard. They also don't always listen to our answers, though they're usually correct. My husband and I feel like spare parts sometimes. They went away for the last 2 weeks and just our friend came. It was so lovely having time with her and it felt like 'the old days', friends hanging out. She was even talking to us about a new guy she's seeing but her parents aren't happy about that and she discourages us from talking about him in front of them. It's also our only night we go out as new parents and, selfishly, we'd love to just be able to let loose a little with each other and our friend. But also, we just miss being out with our friend at the quiz like we've gone to for years. She's asked us what the plan is for the next time we go and we said we've booked to go for tea for us 3, and the baby, then to the quiz. She said 'oh great, my parents want to come too'. Are we arseholes if we're honest about how we feel? I'd hate to upset her or make her feel like she's by herself now she's single. It's a difficult situation, but we love her and want it back to how it was.

2024.05.21 22:37 SidledsGunnar FAQ

THE BASICS

Q. I've listened to today's album but why I can't rate it?
A. That's by design. You won't be able to submit your review and star rating until the next day's album is generated, around approximately 3AM GMT.
Q. Can I have more than one album per day generated?
A. No, the site was designed to be one per day. Some users have created a second or third project in order to have more than one a day.
Q. Who decided I needed to hear this album? Who created this list? Was this a user-submitted album?
A. The first 1089 albums you'll hear are taken from the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. The list was compiled by Robert Dimery, along with a team of music critics.
The user-submitted albums are optional (to submit and to listen to) only once you've finished the original 1089.
Q. 1089 albums... huh? I thought it was 1001?
A. There have been several editions of the book. Each time, some albums are removed in favour of newer albums. The generator includes any album as long as it was in at least one edition of the book. As of 2024, this is 1089 albums total.
Q. What happens if I don't visit the website for awhile?
A. Your account will pause automatically if you don't visit the site or rate an album for 5 days in a row. However, pressing the "Did Not Listen" button counts as activity, and your account will stay active.
You can also pause and unpause your account whenever you want from the Info tab in the menu.
Q. What happens if I push "Did Not Listen"? Will the album get generated for me later or is it lost forever?
A. Neither, it will be listed on your History page, where you can rate it any time.
Additionally, once you select "Did Not Listen," the next album will be generated.
Q. If I've already listened to some of the albums beforehand, can I mark them as complete so they won't be generated for me?
A. No, unfortunately there is no way to do that.
Q. Where can I see the entire list of albums?
A. The best way would be to support the book's creators and purchase a physical copy of the book. You can also visit this unofficial site but it hasn't been updated for the most recent edition of the book. This List Challenges quiz is currently the most up-to-date list online.
If you don't mind looking at some code, the generator's site map shows the full list as well.

CHANGES AND EDITS

Q. Can I change a rating or edit my review?
A. Not on your own on the site. DM with your project name and the rating you'd like changed.
Q. How can I shut off weekend albums?
A. DM your project name and ask him to do this.
Q. I originally decided to exclude a certain genre of music but I've changed my mind! How can I get it back?
A. DM your project name and ask him to do this.
Q. How can I show people my project?
A. Use the URL in your address bar after navigating to the Summary page from the main menu. It's advised not to give out the URL with your actual project name, as anyone will be able to go in and add reviews to anything you haven't rated yet, or delete any draft reviews you have.
Q. How can I reinstall the web app?
A. If you go to the browser's menu there is usually something like "Download" or "Install app." It's a Progressive Web App (PWA), so if you can't find it, Google "how to install pwa on [your browser]."

GROUPS

Q. How does it work going from an individual project to group?
A. If you are the creator of the group and your project already had more than 5 albums generated, there is a checkbox whether you want to include those albums in the group history or not.
By default this is not checked. This means that your group will "start over" and get all albums generated again. You'll get duplicates and you can rate them again. Your individual project history will have some albums twice, but the group page will only have them once.
If you did click that checkbox, then those albums will appear in the group history page. Those who join the group will then get an option to earn them into their history and catch up. You won't get any duplicates and the group will never get them generated.
Basically no matter how you created it, your family members won't miss out on any! It's just a matter of whether they have to catch up via a backlog or if you all want to listen to all albums as a group.
Q. How can I turn on weekend albums in my group?
A. DM your project name and ask him to do this.
Q. I'm in a group but can't rate the albums from the group page?
A. Correct, you rate albums from your own page. The group page is just for showing your groups stats (rating for each album, favourite genre, etc).

OTHER

Q. The streaming link was to an extended edition. Should I listen to the extra material?
A. Stick to the original unless you're in the mood for some extra stuff. Feel free to report it here and u/SidledsGunnar will change the link so it goes to the original version.
Q. What is the Controversial Artists section on my page all about?
A. These are artists whose albums you rated very differently. For example, if you loved Hunky Dory but hated Ziggy Stardust, David Bowie will show up as one of your controversial artists.
Q. What if I can't find an album to listen to it?
A. YouTube often has music missing from other streaming platforms. Otherwise, it's up to you. You can leave it unrated on your history page, or you can rate it and note you couldn't find it. So far, every single album has been tracked down by other users, though.
Q. Is there an API?
A. Yep, it's pretty basic, though. See it here.
Q. Who made this generator and how can I support it?
A. Reddit user u/SidledsGunnar created this and runs it on his own. If you'd like to contribute to help keep the site running, you have a few options: Patreon / Paypal / Ko-Fi / Bitcoin Wallet number: 3KVcBJpB2K1WcG5qu9rae822SxfgbQoPc8
You can also support u/SidledsGunnar by purchasing albums from the Rough Trade links on the site as he gets a small commission from each sale.

2024.05.21 17:16 GazzaliFahim Need help with prompting Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.2 for creating a coding tutor bot

Hello everyone, I am trying to create a Multi-agent Coding Tutor chatbot (or academically speaking "CTS - Conversational Tutoring System") for my course project. We want it to be a personalized tutor, which means that it will teach the person based on their age, level of education, and hobbies or interests.
To instruct this Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.2 4-bit quantized model, we have added the following system prompt to the model:
system_prompt = f"""Imagine you are a friendly and highly knowledgeable teacher who specializes in teaching {prog_language_to_teach} programming. Your student, who is a {user_age}'s old {user_edu_scope} student and whose understanding and interests is into {user_interest}, is eager to learn and looks up to you for clear, easy-to-understand explanations. For every concept you introduce, provide a brief overview and relate it to a real-life scenario or analogy that will resonate with the student, making it easier for them to grasp the topic quickly. When explaining programming concepts, consider the student's age and their hobbies or interests, tailoring examples and analogies to align with these details. Your explanations should include short, precise programming examples relevant to the student's life and interests. After presenting an example, break it down into step-by-step explanations to ensure the student fully understands. Periodically, engage the student with quick quiz questions or programming tasks that are directly related to what you've discussed. These activities should build on the chat history and context, reinforcing the student's learning and keeping the conversation interactive and engaging. Remember, your goal is to create a supportive, engaging learning environment that adapts to the student's abilities, interests, and pace, making learning Python an enjoyable and rewarding experience."""
Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.2 doesn't have an explicit system prompt, so I had to find a different way to add one to the code for the very first prompt.
model_input = f"[INST] {system_prompt} [/INST]" + f"[INST] {user_message} [/INST]"
Now, on the initial run, the chatbot is doing fine often and as expected. In the case of a 10-year-old Kindergartener who loves "Baby Shark Rhyme," the bot will talk about what he likes. In another case of a 20-year-old shareholder in the share market, the bot tried to teach programming using business analogies.
But the common issues I face are the following:
  1. The chatbot is too verbose, especially on complex topics such as Encapsulations. (I have used max_new_tokens=1000, is it causing the verbosity? Lessening to 500 or 750 causes the model to stop on incomplete answers abruptly.*)
  2. So far, switching from a coding tutor to a general tutor has been the hardest thing. For instance, if the user is older and asks about something off-topic, like Newton's law or the American Law of Immigration, it immediately switches itself from the coding tutor to that other tutor.
  3. Another problem is that it gives the answers right away while it generates the quizzes. Although I tested with different prompts, I can resist this nature.
My biggest problem so far is the 2nd and 1st one, respectively. I have tried adding refusal prompts in the system prompt, but then it slightly refuses to teach those irrelevant topics and then starts making coding examples on it.
 ## Strict Refusal: If the question is not related to programming, respond strictly with a refusal sentence and do not provide any further explanation or code.
For these cases, sometimes it follows, sometimes not. Also adding too many instructions into the system prompts too big resulting in GPU memory exhaustion after 5-6 long chats. BTW, To mimic a memory feature, I am saving chats to a dictionary.
Since yesterday and again tonight, I've been trying to make the prompting better but haven't been able to. I'm brand new to LLM chatbot programming and have never done this before. This project began a month ago because the idea is unique to my MSc project, but I got stuck in the middle of it.
How can I make the prompting better to avoid the problems that were brought up? Also, can someone recommend a good tutorial on how to make this kind of chatbot? I've been looking for these, but most of the tutorials use OpenAI and/or langchain. For a change, my supervisor wants us to only test with open-source models. We can use Mistral to begin because it fits on the Kaggle notebook we have.
Any suggestion including trying to other approaches, totally changing the system prompt, and trying another one (if you say so, can you please show me one?) and a good & detailed tutorial will be super appreciated. IDK, suddenly it feels so lost.

2024.05.21 11:41 TRX_Traveller The #2 Secrets to Building Muscle Fast with TRX Suspension Training

Here's what's holding you back...
Firstly, all those 'influencers,' Apps, & YouTube vids are teaching you to use a suspension trainer with 'Movement-Centric Technique.'
Which is USELESS for building lean muscle.
Secondly, the diet "advice" you're listening to is clickbait and cookie cutter.
It's failed you in the past, and it will continue to fail you if you keep listening.
There are only 2-Steps you need to do for fantastic results:

1 Use your suspension trainer with 'Muscle-Centric Technique'

2 Optimise your nutrition to improve your insulin sensitivity

Then you'll build muscle and lose fat faster than you ever thought possible.

#1 Muscle-Centric Technique

If you’re pulling-pushing-hanging with your suspension trainer but never seeing any changes in your body.
You're using it with "Movement-Centric Technique."
Which is a waste of time.
Why?
Your body weight load is shared across multiple muscles.
So no single muscle takes enough load to cause a muscle and strength building stimulus.
You need to use "Muscle-Centric suspension trainer Technique"...
Isolate the muscle you want to target and don't allow other muscles to help out.
By using slow, controlled technique, and your mind-muscle connection to squeeze the muscle powerfully.
Then all your body weight load goes onto that muscle.
And you get a BIG muscle building stimulus.
Which means you build lean muscle all over your body.
More muscle, more fat burned at rest.

#2. Improving your insulin sensitivity

FACT...
"It's NOT about what you eat. It's about how effectively your body USES what you eat."
Which comes down to your insulin sensitivity.
Think of your body as an engine...
If the engine (your body) isn't working correctly, it doesn't matter what petrol (the food) you put in. It still won't work well.
If you struggle to build muscle, have belly fat, and low daily energy…
You don't have good insulin sensitivity:
When you focus on optimising your nutrition to improve your insulin sensitivity, you'll:
  1. Build lean muscle faster.
  2. Wake up your dormant fat burning hormones.
  3. Double your productive energy.

2024.05.21 10:00 createdjustforthis23 21/05/2024

I woke up to seagulls this morning, I really like the sound of them. I mean they don’t make pretty sounds, nor is it relaxing, but it feels like a comforting noise I guess? I think because I like being by the sea. I’m not sure. It was nice though. I love living by the sea, like I hear ship horns and seagulls and all of that. It makes me forever paranoid of tsunamis though. I think I’d like to live in a little seaside town with my honey, but I also don’t because then I couldn’t have the garden of my dreams nor would I have the countryside lifestyle I want. I don’t really know what I want. I don’t think I have enough money to be all that picky anyway.
I kind of woke up with that pit in my stomach feeling today. I don’t like how our calls were last night, either one of them. The first I felt like he didn’t want to talk to me and the second it was me being like that to him. I didn’t mean to make it come across that way, but I think he just caught me out when I was mid-deep sleep? I couldn’t wake up or focus and idk. Normally I’m fine to wake up though? And I love his night time calls, to know he’s thinking about me makes me feel so warm inside. It feels weird to think I ever cross his mind when we aren’t in an active conversation, I guess that comes back to the self esteem thing and feeling unworthy of being a thought in his mind, not feeling important enough, or something. But in that second call, I guess I didn’t like that he got me off the phone earlier because he was so sleepy, but then it turned out he was still up and about two hours later? It made me feel like he lied about being tired to get rid of me. I don’t think that was the case, but it’s how it made me feel in the moment. Anyway I woke up feeling uneasy, I felt okay but a little uneasy so I made sure to apologise. I think as well because I fell asleep feeling a little uneasy, it felt like he rushed me off the phone or like I was boring him to death or something. But it made me think about how it’s only 9pm where he is, and that he could quite easily have someone come over around that time. I don’t believe he would do that, but it scares me all the same. The way in which he could crush me into nothing is a little frightening sometimes, it really feels like I’ve just laid out my sad little heart out there for him to stomp all over if he so wishes to do so. I know if he did end things I would be okay, I think, but I can’t say I don’t worry about how it would affect my mental health and “recovery” - how far would it set me back? But also that’s not on him at all, and I’m never ever going to imply as such to him. He ought to make decisions based on what he wants and is best for him. Anyway it’s fine and we talked this morning and nothing has changed for him either, we both still want each other and this so it doesn’t even matter. I still feel bad about how I made him feel. I’m really glad, even though I made him feel bad which I wish I hadn’t, but sometimes it really helps to have him say he still wants this. I know his actions speak louder than words, but sometimes I need the words too. And so him saying “I’m still the same” was really reassuring and made me feel so lovey.
I’ve made a hair appointment, for end of June. I kind of wanted it early June as my hair is annoying the f out of me now, but her first available slot is end of June sooo I guess it still works out well. It gives me five weeks to continue growing out my layers so that we can start afresh. I’m going to get my face framies cut shorter this time as they grow out so quickly. I think otherwise I’ll get very subtle layering, enough to add some movement and help it air dry nicely, but I want the ends as thick as possible too. I’ll get a general root touch up to darken them up a little, and then a tonegloss for the lengths to cool down the warmth a little and darken it up ever so slightly. And then I’ve booked in for a full on olaplex treatment, so that will be nice. I am all about my hair health this year. I always have been but now even more so.
It’s so autumnal today. I really want to watch my favourite cosy romcoms, their autumn scenes are always my most absolute favourite. And winter I suppose. Basically Meg Ryan in autumn is my favourite thing and comforts me to no end.
I think I assume that if I know something then everyone else must know it too, so when they don’t I find it baffling that they don’t know. I guess because I consider myself thicker than a brick and everyone else smarter than I am, so I’d say in the team quiz no one knows the answer I start thinking how do you not know this, but that’s unfair of me and I’m making an assumption based on my low self esteem. But also I am as dumb as a rock so I mean there’s low self esteem and then there’s self awareness. But I just assume that if I know something, then it therefore must be as widely known as 2+2=4.
I’m wearing my Mon Guerlain perfume today, I quite like it, I guess I liked it a fair but considering I seem to have both a bottle of the edp and edt? I think this was during lockdown. Anyway I never wear it but I am today as it’s quite a warm scent, it’s like a warm vanilla but with a touch of lavender? Barely any lavender though, just a teeny tiny little bit. I just googled and that’s exactly what it is so yay me! Except it’s blatantly obvious so perhaps I’ll calm down on the self celebrations. Anyway it’s not one I’d replace but I do like it I suppose. It feels a little mature, not in an older woman way but in a mid-40s way. I read a comment and it said that it gives wife-and-adoring-mother with a wealthy husband, who’s just kissed her children goodnight before sweeping off in her furs to dinner and the opera. It’s classy and elegant, but with something warm and motherly to it and I get that too. Like the mama in Peter Pan! Anyway I’m a little ways off that stage of my life. But it’s a nice wfh scent I suppose. Most of my perfumes are just wfh/chill at home ones now. I wear perfume everyday, I’d say that’s silly but a) Andy tends to too and anything he does that I do makes me feel more assured it’s okay, b) I have a lottttt to get through and c) even if I didn’t have a lottttt to get through I still would because I just like to feel pretty. I may be as ugly as a troll but I will still be presentable enough. Not nicely, but perfume, groomed brows, glowy skin/skincare, my cutie lil diamond studs, brushed hair etc. Except I like a lived in look, I don’t like to look super prim and proper I prefer more bedheady hair and to look like I don’t care an awful lot, but in a nonchalant Kate Moss way not a get wrecked Adam Sandler way. Except I think Adam Sandler is the better of the two - I read he still has a regular-ish house? Then again it was the internet and I’m as gullible as… idk something gullible. That’s what I adore about Andy, he will do his own research and not believe anything outright, he’ll question it and all of that. Whereas I can just be like woowwwww crazy and then move on. There are many ways I’d like to be more like him, I don’t want to be like him but I just want to be better and he’s better so idk. He seems a little paranoid I’ll be like his ex who basically tried to become the tweedle dum to his tweedle dee, but I mean that’s never going to happen? I like to try things he likes, for example snacks and drinks and things. And if he says he enjoys using something and recommends it, ie his mouse, then I take his recommendations seriously. But I’m never going to dress or act like him, I mean I adore him but I don’t want to be a man…? I like being girly and different from him! But I just mean I like how he approaches things, I like how he handles disagreements or thinks about new information - they’re things I want to kind of learn from him. Not in a way where I’d ask because that makes it weirder. Idk. This whole thing is weird. I just admire him. Now I sound like some kinda single white female… which I am… oh god.
Todays been fine overall. I did something new workwise, getting into LOEs for H&S speeding stuff, I had a call with a manager about one of his direct reports this morning and he was like I mean is it that bad and I had to tell a 40 something grown man that it is indeed bad to speed 28km over the speed limit. For any reason. And in a branded vehicle at that. Anyway so then I had to do the letter which was fine but it’s such a confusing template so I suggested some alterations to the Head of and she said they were excellent and she would change the template letter to include my suggestions, so that made me feel good. I enjoy that part of my work, I think I like processes and policies and all of that stuff. Idk why someone with social anxiety thought it would be smart to get into PEOPLE advisory. But like I said, as thick as a brick.
I had such a fun chat with him this evening, he makes me all giggly and silly and I hate myself for saying that. The word giggle is so bleh. I mean it’s a cute word but it feels wrong to say for whatever reason. It’s like when people say “hehe” in texts or whatever, it makes me feel gross even though I don’t even mind it. I think in the right context from the right person it’s fine, but I’ve never experienced that so idk. Now I’m thinking of… something. Something we watched. And the subtitles had it as “heh heh” and I’m thinking sopranos. Anyway newsflash to no one: I love him a hellllllll of a lot.
I wish I didn’t have to go to the office tomorrow. It’s so annoying. I know it’s good for me and also my manager has outright asked me to, so I kind of have to regardless, but also I’ll just focus on the fact it’s good for me to be properly out of the house and stuff. And it has perks I guess, I can have sushi for lunch, peruse the bookshop nearby and I also don’t snack when I’m at the office, I take nuts with me but I don’t eat them because I get all anxy about if people can hear me chewing or if they think I’m some kind of insatiable ogre who can’t wait til lunch or dinner. But so I just have a few bits of sushi for lunch. Although I really want to try this Vietnamese place, they have a salad that looks so bloody good, but I’ve never been and it looks like the kind you line up for like subway and that sends a barrage of anxiety through me so maybe sometime in the future. But I also tend to get more done and idk. It’s good for me. I’ll just keep telling myself that while I hate life two days a week for the foreseeable. It’s not even that bad, it is bad anxiety wise - like yesterday I didn’t go to the bathroom for over an hour from when I needed to pee because of my anxiety, I also didn’t fill up my drink bottle or get another coffee at all for the whole day. So my anxiety is bad, but maybe over time it’ll get better, I’m sure it will, I just have to suck it up in the interim.
I think I’ll stop now because I have 10 mins exactly til 8 and I need to get entirely ready for bed and post this. I needed to blowdry my hair but I spent too long in the shower and now I don’t have time so oh well. Tbh I look like utter shite anyway lately so what’s a bad hair day to go with it? I’ll just put it up. I feel disgustingly ugly lately, I always do but especially lately. Okay now I have 8 minutes night night

2024.05.21 08:44 EntrepreneurDizzy640 My girlfriend 22F broke up with me 22M and she and I still see each other. What should I do?

Me 22M and my girlfriend or ex girlfriend 22F we together for 6 months but have been broken up for a month now, but she and I still see each other no matter how many times I try to ignore her. The reason she broke up with me was because she doesn’t believe that I never had a romantic interest or had a relationship with my girl family friend. My family friend and I had photos in my phone of our memories hanging out, nothing weird. I have been asked by her multiple times if I did like her, and I keep saying no. I’ve told her everything about my relationship with my family friend, but she said something like all she needed was honesty and transparency and that I’m not giving that to her. I then showed her my phone and she looked through the past messages I’ve had with a friend of mine who happens to be involved with the situation and my girlfriend then sees a message of my friend asking if I liked my family friend and me saying that I really do like her, but not in a romantic way. I guess that’s what validated her assumption about the situation about me and my family friend. She then said that she’s been lied to by a lot of guys and knows when someone is lying to her, that is when she broke things off with me.
A week or so goes by and she then checks up on me, then later on would start seeing each other again, with no labels. Then whenever I would talk about getting back together and wanting to work things out, she still thinks that I’m a liar and won’t work things out which caused us to take some space from each other again, and then the same thing happens. This time the issue was about the girls on my instagram following. She made me show her my following and then tells me to unblock the girls that I’ve talked to before, which I have ever since I got in to the relationship with her. She then met someone i knew back in high school that I used to talk to, with no relationship interest, then the next day she asks me if I still talk to any of the girls I used to like or talked to and I said no. She then showed me a screenshot of a comment I had on my high school friend’s post from 4 years ago and she thinks I used to talk to her. I then asked her if my friend ever told her that I liked her or pursued her, she said nothing and wanted to end the call because she was upset about it. I kept my distance from her because I said take her time and talk to me whenever she’s ready. She would then reach out to me to see me but never in the talks of working things out, only to just spend time and hangout. Another issue happens again which caused me to take some time from her because I felt like it was becoming a cycle, and also made me want to stop fighting for the relationship to get back to normal, she said that we can’t get back what we had. As much as want to keep fighting for the relationship, I just felt like I wasn’t being heard and felt like every question she asks me, she wants to hear something right, right that validated her assumptions.
I tried to keep my distance from her by spending more time with my friends because I was really hurt from the situation when she broke up with me and felt like I was in an emotional roller coaster. I know everybody makes mistakes but to her, everything I do seems to be bad… But then few days later she would check up on me again, then spend time with each other, cuddling and everything, like everything was ok. But now I just feel like it’s gonna be the same thing again and I don’t know what to do about it.
She’s been cheated on in the past and have told me before that she had some jealousy from her past relationship and also told me that she was a pretty controlling. I didn’t mind it before because I feel like she might have changed now. But now I feel like everything she has done with her ex has now been projected to me. Earlier times in our relationship, whenever she and I had those issues and would take time apart, she would apologize to me few days after saying that she’s sorry for treating me bad and felt that she should’ve not projected things to me from her past that I had no relations to. And I also find it unfair on why she was focused on my past and not the present, when she was the only person in my life, my only priority.
I tried to have a serious talk about getting back but she said that she’s scared that I might eventually hurt her. Why would she be worried of the worst outcome about what could happen when she and I could be focusing on what we want to happen?
I love this girl and all, but I just don’t know what to do about this. I feel like I’m stuck on a relationship that’s not a relationship. I’ve been looking up a lot these attachment styles and many months ago, she took a quiz and says that she was a fearful avoidant, and I’ve been looking up what a person with narcissist tendencies does, but I don’t want to assume the worst about it because I’m just simply trying to understand where she is at with this type of relationship she and I has. I just really don’t know what to do now at this point and I could use some help because I’ve been sad and angry about the situation I’m in. Thank you for reading this.
What do you think I could do with this situation? What could be the cause of this happening to her and me? Should I let her go?

2024.05.20 11:27 novioletsarenotblue My LDR partner started quizzing me about himself on a late night out and is sad that I didn't know all of the answers.

My partner (30) and I (32) are now long distance, after dating for 2 years. We've had talks about the future and had some plans so this is a person I had put my full trust in and my "the one". I want to say that in our daily life, we spent alot of time together, he cooked for us, we vibe together and share similar goals. I've been happy in this relationship besides few things, but I know no one is perfect and that's alright.
So.
Saturday night we were both out drinking, each in our own country. It was suuuper late, 4 in the morning and I was sitting with my last beer talking to some people I know.
We were texting about his night, when I all of suddenly asks me if he can ask me something and started asking if I know anything about his studies. I know what he studied and the topics he's interested in but not exactly what his thesis was about as I don't have interest in the field. He has spoken about it before, but at the time I didn't understand exactly what it was so I might have forgotten about it.
He then proceeds to ask me if I know how many kids he wants and the names he has picked out. I knew the amount of them but forgot 1 of the names - we've only had 1 talk about it briefly but I knew 1 and the meaning behind both of them. Just forgot the other. It was also 4 in the morning, I has been drinking with friends so I was tired, inhibriated and in company of others.
I'm not sure if I'm the asshole here - he's hurt that I didn't know all of them off the bat, and he feels that this is something that I should be able to answer any time of the day no matter the situation.
I didnt feel it was the best time for a pop up speed quiz and I was confused why all of this suddenly. In the start I replied that I knew what topics he's interested in, but I wanted to know why he was asking. It made me feel like he felt that I wasnt interested in the things hes into and that surprised me alot. I take interest in him and we talk about his hobbies even though I don't always understand exactly what its about, as some of it is very advanced on not common knowledge.
Things have been tense lately between us, because of his depression he decided to move back to his home country with 5 days of notice, leaving me to find a new apartment, money for deposit etc. (He now sees he could've done things differently and has apologized, but things are still tense so I might be biased about this convo). So I might be heavily biased already, as Im still dealing with the situation emotionally in general.
I don't find it a big deal, to not know the thesis and the kids name as we barely spoke about it and I know shitloads about him and his interests and we often talk about the things he's into. I've never dismissed his interests, and I know shows, music, bands, type of books and stuff he likes. I feel like he also knows alot about me.
The convo went something like this:
"Can you name any if the topics I have studied? Like literally any one I have mentioned?"
"Don't really care for the exact name xD just curious if you can remember any of the topics I was interested in xD"
"I got a question tonight xD if my partner knows what I wrote any of my thesis about xD so just curiosity xD"
"I have a degree in (A) but not (B) xD and just (C) xD with the (A) one it is more complicated but do you remember what did I focused on in my (study, C)? XD"
I then wrote that I admitted I didn't know exactly what the thesis was about as I'm not very well versed on the topic, we barely talked about it and I had a hard time understanding it. He then asked if I remember how many kids he wants and the name of the kids.
I remember the amount, 1 of the names and meaning behind both of them. I told him that's its 4 in the morning and it's not the best time for me atm, he said he knows it's late but he hoped these would be things I'd supposed to be able answer, any time.
I told him I'd prefer to talk about it tomorrow, he then said goodnight and went to sleep. I went home to and talked to him the following day after. He says that it was purely out of curiosity he asked, he got annoyed that I was asking why he was asking and felt I was stalling.
I couldn't help feeling sad and that he asked bc he doubts how much I really take interest in him. I asked if he felt that way and he said no, he was just curious.
I know its a small silly things, but I'm still conflicted about this conversation specifically. He could've asked any time of the day, we speak often and it literally came out of the blue. I'm still thinking about it, he never asked me these things before. The day after I told him how I felt about it and I found it slightly weird that someone asked him this specific question. He was still disappointed and sad but we didn't dwell on it for longer than needed. He also knows alot about me - I dont hold it against him for not remembering what we spoke about only 1 time But I asked him for fun, if he remember the names I had mentioned and the amount of kids. It took him some time to think about the amount of kids, and he didn't remember any names.
I then joked with a smile "Oh, and you were annoyed at me by the kids names?" And he replied, that wasnt what it was about. (The kids stuff) Then we talked about different stuff. He even said that I asked him, if I could read the thesis. I then replied that he never sent it to me.
I need some fresh eyes on this. My friends are not his biggest fans atm so they might be biased too.
I'd like to think that we're just different when it comes to this, but I'm still unsure if this is something I'm supposed to know, or I'm making big deal out of it, if Im the butthole or not (if theres any butthole at all in this situation) and I would appreciate someone's unbiased opinion on it.
Thank youuu
‐--------------------------
Edit: awh, why am I getting downvoted?
Edit 2: Thank you so much you all! ❤️ if it wasn't for you, I'd still be thinking if I was wrong and an inattentive partner. Thank you for your insanely attentive and thorough answers. I really appreciate
Edit 4
Someone mentioned that his depression might make him think that I don't care about him. I'm going to take that into consideration, and think about it. He might be way more depressed than he's been showing at home at and I need to think carefully how approach this while still respecting my own boundaries but also so both of us feel emotionally safe when the time comes. I still don't forgive his actions and what he said, but depression is something to be taken serious and I need to see where he's at.
Thank you again everyone, you're the best💚

2024.05.20 02:40 SnooDoggos3848 University of Toronto First Year Engineering Guide

Hi everyone, current 2T7 ECE here. I thought I would make a quick post on a guide to first year engineering, listing out all the stuff I wish I knew before coming to university. The first semester portion is applicable to all engineering disciplines, the second semester portion would be more useful to ECEs, T1, Indie and Mechs.
First Semester Courses:
MAT186: This was by far the hardest course for me and the entire cohort (C average). Even though I knew all the concepts of the course beforehand (through AP Calc BC and A-levels) this was my worst course. The reason for this was because the course focuses on testing theory (your understanding of the nitty gritty) rather than on computation. My advice for this course would be to make sure you work on written hw with friends (impossible to do alone), and do every single tutorial worksheet (exam questions are exactly like tutorial worksheets). Sean Upall was the course coordinator, and even thought I didnt like his lectures, I think it prepares you the most for the final exam.
MAT188: This was my favourite course even though it probably took up most of my time. This course was completely new to me, which is why I took a lot more time understanding the Pre class essentials. There is a lot of "theory" in this course, which will take a while to learn, so spend a good amount of time understanding and learning the PCEs. One reccomendation to make this process of learning faster is to watch 3blue1browns essence of linear algebra series. Watch the video corresponding to the upcoming weeks concepts before reading the PCEs. Written HW was hard (not as hard as calculus) so do it with friends, the gateway exams are a bit of a joke since you can retake them, and if you practice them enough you realize theres a pattern in the answers. Midterms and Final exams actually test at an appropriate level, so as long you have a strong grasp of the concepts you will be fine. If professor Cameillia is teaching the course go for her lectures, she is by far the best (she is also the course coordinator).
CIV100: This was a very interesting course, it needs a lot of practice of past papers. Literally you'll need to grill through past papers in order to succeed in this course. The final exam is such that there are 5 questions and you have 30 mins per question. Each quesition is quite hard which makes the exam very time pressured, so again PRACTICE. The quizzes in this course are dependant on your lecturer, some profs give easy quizzes whilst others give hard ones, this is out of your control. In my opinion the best lecturer was Professor Merjan, she was probably the best lecturer I've had in my time here at UOFT. The only problem is that she teaches the course in a different timeline than other profs, so you probably cant change lecturers cuz quiz material is different between different profs.
APS110: As an ECE I still dont know why I had to take this course. Overall, it was taught quite well. Scott Ramsay is the best lecturer for this course, although basically everything he says is already in the textbook (which is why I did not attend lectures). The Textbook is more than enough for this course. The Final exam for our batch was quite difficult compared to past year exams, but I think I did well because I practiced quite a few past papers.
APS111: Contraty to public opinion, I thought this was one of the most fun and useful courses in first semester. I had quite a sh*t team, but managed. Make sure you look at the rubrics for each assignment before you start writing. Also the way this course works is that you have to submit individual and group assignments which are essentially these long documents. Because they are doucments, they are marked in a qualitative way as there is no right answer per se. Make sure you bombard the person who is correcting the assignment with questions so that you nail exactly what they are looking for.
Second semester courses
MAT187: This is calculus two and it was much better than Calc one. Professor Camelia was the course coordinator, so just like MAT188 the exams were all at an appropriate level. Written HWs again requires help from friends. I mainly studies for this course using the PCEs, and practiced the tutorial worksheets. Some of my friends used the textbook, but I dont think its really required. The best prof for this course is any lecture seciton containing Camelia.
MIE100: For some reason, our year was probably the first year in a long time where the exams for this course were not insanely difficult. They were all at an appropriate level, apparently because they wanted to increase the number of people going into mech eng 💀💀. I found professor Sinclair to be quite good, a lot of people liked Howard Ho as well (trust in Howard Ho). The Wiley plus questions are useful to do to keep up with concepts, but the difficulty of the questions in wiley was way harder than the exam questions, so I wouldnt say its a must to do them ethically.
APS105: Great course. If you have a background in coding, this course will be a breeze at least up until reading week, you'll have to spend more time on it after that. The course is such that 30% of your grade is from labs, so make sure you do them well. the other 70 percent is from exams, which are at an appropriate level once again. Just make sure that you do a lot of past papers as practice. Professor Emara is by far the best, and is amazing if you are new to programming. If you have experience, reading the textbook (Snefru) is more than enough to understand the content.
ECE110: In our batch, while I didnt find the exams difficult, the batch's average after the second midterm was about 51%. After the final exam, they curved the course up quite a bit, I think the average is now a B, also an easy final exam helped out. The first half of this course is more theoretical (electrostatics and electromagnetism) and the second half is circuit analysis. Make sure you do all the Wiley Plus questions for this course, as sometimes they ask the same questions in exams. All the lecturers for this course are pretty bad, but Professor Mojahedis notes are legendary (in my opinion), other people didnt like them because it explained the concepts using proofs. Other profs notes would just state the formula.
APS112: Continuation of APS111. My team was much better this time. Same advice for this course, as APS111. Also make sure you're on top of things because it goes by much quicker in this course as there are way more assignments. Nothing really much to say to be honest, the midterm was a bit screwed up because there are multiple right answers and you have to choose the best one.
Overall for grades, dont worry too much. As long as you get around an 80 for exams and get all the free marks for assignments you'll be on track for at least an 80+ in the course. Remember that university isnt just about studies though, try and indulge into extracurriculars and be social.
Extracurriculars:
Design teams: UOFT has a plehora of design teams for you to choose from. Some design teams are better than others, but the only way that you will actually get deep into the design teams is if you put in the work. Beg leads for tasks, and do them to demonstrate interest. You can also demonstrate interest by doing really menial tasks as well. The point is you need to make sure the leads know you are willing to do tasks, and have showcased that you are worth giving the tasks to. Overtime, depending on the design team you may have to make a choice between grades and the team, thats up to you. Grades dont matter much unless you want to do a masters degree.
Clubs: For these try getting a lead position, a lot of them offer positions in the summer so make sure you follow them on instagram (e.g. engineers without borders, IEEE, etc). Again, you get what you put in to the club.
Intramurals: I loved playing intramurals at UOFT. However, the team that you play for depends on the people you know. For e.g. the SKULE team isnt great for soccer, and if you want to join a better team then you need to know someone on that team. So try networking lol.
Social life:
This was something that I personally struggled with at least initially at UOFT. I gave way too much time to studies, which really isnt worth it. UOFT is way easier than people make it out to be (I'm not being arrogant, and I'm not someone who's gifted in intellegence). As long as you manage your time, you will be fine. Anyway in first year most people would go to frats, and I would reccomend trying it out at least once. Go in the first weeks of school as thats the easiest time, and will also allow you to make new friends. Make sure to know a lot of people, at least at the surface level at the start, as that will make things easier for you in the long run and will also help you find the people you like to hang out with.
Summer after first year:
In my opinion do research if you want work experience, then step up to an internship next summer. If you want to relax thats a good option as well, just try doing some courses and build up some skills for sure.

2024.05.19 23:24 Missleriv Learning tool

Recently I've been watching certain youtuber (that is being loved by enemy CAS) and I've noticed one thing that was his main weapon - knowledge. Not only he was able to identify almost every tank, but he also knew it's weakspots, where it's penetrable, where is not and it's offensive power. Thanks to this he is able to not only decide if he want to pick a fight, but also where to aim to at least have a chance at winning.
So I've decided to learn this all, but doing so in game from protection analisys or battles is boring, and requires months or years of practice. Also I don't want to just read 5k pages of documentation.
My question is: Is there an interactive tool like loldle or anything (quiz game?) that could help me get better at identification and analisys of spotted tanks?
Thanks in advance!

2024.05.19 18:29 Fluid_Job_8326 (Organic Chemistry related) Freshmen years have been too tough to me, please help

I’m a first year psychology student and I worry about my grades in Organic Chemistry which has 5 units. I’ve got 114 out of 203 (all total scores from quizzes and exams as well as the activities in our lab manual) in my prelims grade which is 15%, i don’t have an idea if i passed my midterm exam which is 25% and i think i only got 10 or maybe lower percent of it because the classes were held online so we didn’t had quiz for the midterms nor anything but only modular activities (lab manual) that I barely understood in our online discussions. Will I still have a chance to atleast achieve 3.00 if I pass the finals which is 25% as well?
Please help me, I’m still a baby in college and leave some advice in what I could do if y’all have study technique and college tips to profs that I can do as well.
Tip. My prof is compassionate and loves to do her job and do her job so good, however, my classmates are not. They’re very fast learners and when I ask in what I don’t get, they get annoyed and mad like for real. I don’t want to depend on her characteristics that makes her a good prof because I’m concerned in my possible grade.
So if you have advice other than asking for remedial exam (coz it should not be retaken twice in our department), please help me think for another way of communicating with professors for adjustments and extra points 😭

2024.05.19 07:41 Easy-Job3814 Did not get the job because the other candidate had Project Management experience. Senior Financial Analyst with Project Management Experience?!?!?

Did not get the job because the other candidate had Project Management experience. Senior Financial Analyst with Project Management Experience?!?!?
Interviewed for a Senior Financial Analyst role.
Interview with recruiter, hiring manager, and then 2 take-home excel documents to complete.
After I turned in the excel assignments I did not hear from the company for 4 business days.
I was very confident with my work and was sure I completed those excel assignments with 100% accuracy. I am great with excel.
Not hearing back after 4 business days made me concerned. I reached out to the recruiter and she called me and left a voicemail.
You can see the voicemail transcription above.
They went with another candidate because he/she had project management experience.
The job duties do not require project management experience. I double checked the JD.
It is a Senior Financial Analyst role…with project management experience?!?!?
This job market is INSANE!!!! ☠️

2024.05.18 22:22 AlternativeAd1860 College student researching for a project!

Hello hello all! I hope everyone is having a lovely day. I'm here basically looking for parents of game loving children! Or anyone who knows a gaming child well such as a niece or nephew or grandchild, and would like to ask if you would fill our a google form for me! I am studying Game Design at university in September, currently completing an access course to get there- this be one of my projects! I am currently researching into how being allowed supervised or unsupervised game time with violent video games affects children's ability to process later in life, or if it makes them struggle in anyway in that regard. Its very short, only about 10 questions or so, with a mix of written answers and option selection answers. I would really appreciate any answers I can get, as my project is due soon. There are no identifiers for individuals via the quiz so don't worry! the answers are also going to be seen by me and only me- so they wont be shared elsewhere just for peace of mind. Feedback is also very much encouraged! i couldnt add that to the quiz, so feel free to dm me any feedback in relation to my research if you believe i could have done things better Thank you !! I would have posted this in a parent orientated subreddit, however all the ones i looked at do not allow surveys or research. https://forms.gle/1dCooDZorErfSS2P9

2024.05.18 19:43 Have_a_PizzaMyMind I tried out using Timeleft in D.C. - my overview and thoughts

This appears to be a new thing in D.C. so I wanted to write a really comprehensive summary of my experience trying out a dinner with Timeleft.
I had fun and would recommend it to anyone who might be interested in having dinner with a group of strangers and letting an app choose the restaurant for you.
Last week, I saw this ad on Facebook. If you don't want to click the link, it's a screenshot of the ad I saw. The ad is by Timeleft and it says "Dine with 5 strangers, all matched by our algorithm. Every Wednesday night in your city"
Best case scenario, I have a wonderful meal where I meet interesting people and have the potential to make new friends. Worst case scenario, I get murdered... but like many other millennials, I think I wouldn't mind that so much. My risk-benefit analysis tells me to go for it.
I'll separate the rest of this post by

Overview of Timeleft

Here's the website for Timeleft: https://timeleft.com/
In order to sign up for the next available dinner, you must pay a monthly subscription. It's $26 for one month, $56 for three months, and $86 for 6 months. It appears that Timeleft is not making you pay for a subscription if you can wait one or two weeks to reserve a dinner. Someone can correct me if that's actually not the case.
The subscription is paid to Timeleft. The cost does not go towards your dinner.
When you sign up, it asks you to select what country and city you would like to have your dinner in. Here are the options for the United States: Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C.
For D.C. they provide options in these areas:
Timeleft will ask a series of personality-quiz style questions and ask for basic demographic information. Some questions are single-choice and others are choosing a number between 1-10 to indicate how strongly you feel about what's being asked.
Purportedly the app will take your answers and use an algorithm to match you with a dinner group.
It will ask you for your birth year, and this is the only answer that you cannot edit later in your profile. All other answer choices can be edited after initial account set-up.
The only time and date option for reserving a dinner are Wednesdays with a start time of 7pm. At 7pm the night before your dinner, you will be given a summary of your group. The summary it gives you will look something like this:
Industry: % work in this sector, % in that sector, % in other
Nationalities: % American, % Portgugal
Zodiac signs: % Aries, % Gemini, etc
Main language spoken: English
At 9am on the morning of your dinner, you will be notified of what restaurant and table # you're assigned.
After this point, there seems to be differences in feature depending on whether or not you download the Timeleft app. The browser version of Timeleft gave me my restaurant name, address, table #, and the option to confirm my attendance or indicate that I would be late.
If you need to cancel the day-of, you would need to download the app.
If you are late or need to cancel, you can indicate it on the app. The rest of your table will receive a notification about your status. If you have more than two same-day cancellations in one month, Timeleft says they will cancel your subscription. Your table can also tell the app if you were a no-show, so I would assume the same rule applies to no-shows.
At 8pm, Timeleft gives you a recommendation for a spot to head to for after-dinner drinks so that you can continue hanging out with your table.
After the dinner, if you have the app, you would be given the option to connect or not with the other guests you met at dinner. If two people agree to connect with each other, then the app gives you a chat.

My Dinner Experience

When I arrived at the restaurant, I told the hostess that I am here with Timeleft and was assigned Table number #
It's clear that the organizers set this up with the restaurant, because every one who arrived was able to let the restaurant know that they're with Timeleft and which table # they're assigned and there was no confusion.
At my restaurant, there were three tables in total. It looked like everyone was having a great conversation and enjoying themselves. The Timeleft app provides an icebreaker game, so if the conversation dulls, you can just play the game to inspire conversation.
My table had 4 people show up (including me) and 2 no-shows. Of the 4 of us, two had done a Timeleft dinner before and they enjoyed the experience.
From talking to those who had done Timeleft before, it sounds like there are at least two or three restaurants chosen for each neighborhood to be the dinner spot. For the Navy Yard/Capitol Hill option last week, it was Belga Cafe and Ambar.
Of the three tables in my restaurant, it looked like the Timeleft guests were grouped by age. One table seemed to be mid 40s to late 50s, then a table of 30's, and a table of late 20s.
My table all chose to go to the recommended bar after dinner. Of the other two tables, only one person joined us from one table and we did not get to interact with the third table at all.
We just had fun talking and making conversation. We had actual conversations about a variety of things and it never felt like a stale "getting to know you" or "what do you do for work" type of vibe. I had a great time.

My General Thoughts

I thought it was a great feature for the app to allow you to connect with someone from your table through a chat on the app after the dinner. It saves people who are uncomfortable giving away their phone numbers to essential strangers and gives you the opportunity to keep in touch if you forgot to exchange contact information.
I was told from the other guests that the after-dinner drinks place recommended by the app is the same for the guests at other tables and guests at other restaurants in your neighborhood. Those who are dining in Navy Yard/Capitol Hill are given the same bar recommendation and the Dupont/Shaw crowd gets a different recommendation.
So, I'm looking forward to doing more dinners and hopefully getting to meet people from not just my table, but people who were assigned to other tables and restaurants.
I'm guessing that the app's algorithm primarily groups people by age and meal preferences. I might be wrong. But the consensus from the other Timeleft users is that they also notice tables being grouped by age in their previous dinners.
What I love about D.C. is that a lot of people are transient or are new to the city, so it's easy to find a random group to hang out with in general. I have had success meeting people through Meetup.com, discord servers, and just other opportunities the city provides.
Timeleft is another opportunity for that, but I also get to try new restaurants and bars and I don't have to research too much or think about it before hand or make reservations. I can just show up and try to enjoy myself.
What else would I be doing on Wednesday nights anyway? Might as well try out a new restaurant!
Here's an article I found about Timeleft if you're interested in reading: https://www.vice.com/en/article/v7bnpb/timeleft-friend-finding-platform-review

2024.05.18 12:59 ValuableAnything7 So how much do you really love The Bad Batch?

So how much do you really love The Bad Batch?
Take the linked quiz and find out!
Now that The Bad Batch is completed, I think it's interesting to see where it lands for you in the wider context of all other canon Star Wars TV and Film.
The way the quiz is structured, it's actually quite a gutteral and raw confrontation of things in Star Wars you would never usually think of: "What do you mean I have to choose between The Bad Batch and Return of the Jedi?!"
The cut off for this seems to be Andor, so no new series that came after like the Ahsoka series or Tales of the Empire are not included.
For what's it worth I'm very fond of The Bad Batch and thought it was a genuinely really good show with some incredible highs. Now that I've had a bit of time to let the series finale settle in the stomach and reflect on it, my love for it grows the more I look back on it.
So with all that said, The Bad Batch finished in a respectable 7th spot for me (out of 21). It only finished behind Andor, The Clone Wars (series), Revenge on the Sith, Rogue One, Return of the Jedi and A New Hope.

He waited to call me, he literally thought about my sleep and that he’d called to wake me up a couple times already this past week so he thought no I’ll let her sleep and call at a more normal time. Is he not the most thoughtful thing? My baby. He woke me right out of a dream, it was an odd one which I cbf going into, but I was making a friend in it, I don’t know who but the dream was partly me trying to be friends with this other girl. Maybe it’s a sign I’ll find a new friend soon :) Anyway so he called and we chatted while he finished making up his keyboard. It sounds so good, like sooooo good. Like creamy marbley rain drop goodness. It’s funny because I thought his last keyboard sounded delicious, but in comparison to the new one the old one makes me envision large spiders tip tapping along a corrugated iron roof. Whereas the new one sounds like sitting by a fire with a hot chocolate with marshmallows and being read a story while the rain pitter patters outside. I wonder if this new one will sound like spiders whenever he makes a newer one? I’m truly such a fickle thing. They all sound good though, obviously. He said how when we live together he’ll make one for me! Or rather he’ll guide me through the process, because I need to pick the sounds and colours and feelings out. I’m not sure what I’d like it to be like, I’ll have to start thinking. I flip between wanting something cute, like a pink one with strawberries and hearts and glitter and then a sleek, profesh looking one. A light one? Or a dark one? And I have no idea about the sounds, but he’ll help me. And then we can make it up together! It sounds so fun, I really can’t wait. Anyway so he called and it’s still my favourite way to wake up.
Then we hung up and I was laying in bed debating whether I should get up or doze and I ended up having dirty lil thoughts about him… twice. I can be so boring with my lil fantasies now, I can’t entirely remember now what I thought about but it was just us two. I think he thinks I think about someone else involved more than I do, I definitely do but nowhere near as often as just him. I sound like a total creepy perve but I’ve even thought about just him… but I’ll be dead and buried before I ever tell him that. And that saying something because I think I’d like to be cremated… TBD on that. But so anyway, thinking about just me and him is always my favourite and works the fastest every single time. My honey baby handsome man.
I truly have a life full of first world problems, it makes me feel so guilty sometimes. I say sometimes because I only think about how lucky I am sometimes, which makes me feel even more guilty. There are SO many horrible awful things happening in the world to people who absolutely do not deserve a hair on their heads touched.. and here I am lambasting my cuticles for being in good condition after I bought some products to tidy them up. I just caught myself out before, I was looking at my cuticles and was negatively thinking about how clean they look lately - I’m not surprised I found a way to be negative about something good. They definitely need some nourishment and cuticle oil and things, but they’re so clean and neat? Why? I haven’t done anything? Anyway I caught myself looking at them thinking ffs why do they look nice I need to fix them - firstly that makes no sense and secondly it hit me a second later how terrible it was. And then the guilt washed over me and there are children dying across the world for no reason and here I am critiquing my cuticles. I truly don’t think I deserve the air I breathe sometimes. More than sometimes. I know I’m not a person that adds anything to this world, if anything I just take from it by worsening the health of the planet with the plastic, travel etc etc I do. I do my best to save bees who look sickly? That’s about it. I don’t bring joy to anyone else - I mean I make Andy miserable, I probably stress and worry my parents… I think the only one I bring any semblance of joy to is pups because I play with him and take him for walks and cuddle him and I won’t move an inch if he’s comfy and I’m not. Other than that… I offer nothing. So like I said, I am drenched in guilt. I wonder how I can change it? Or how I can offer more? I just feel like I have nothing to actually offer, even if I gave everything up. I guess physical labour…? But even then, I’m not strong and my hand skin is so sensitive so I can only really do so much before it hurts and gets bad. But I guess if I wasn’t being selfish I would ignore my skin, wouldn’t I? I would really like to volunteer. I used to a bit here and there, before I really got bad with my mental health. Not a lot but sometimes. I’d like to make it more of a regular thing - it’s something I’ve talked about in therapy about it being a part of the life I’m working towards. I’m thinking once every three weeks or so, so still nothing impactful but it’s something? I think I’d like to volunteer at an animal shelter, I wouldn’t mind even cleaning up their little areas and things, idk why but I don’t find animal stuff gross whereas I do people stuff. Then again I’ve only had to clean up after an animal I love with my whole heart so maybe it would be different for other ones, I could do it though. Or I’d like to volunteer at a retirement home, or visiting elderly people at their own homes. Just spend time with them, it makes my heart hurt to think of how lonely some of them can be and coming from someone who feels extremely lonely I would want to lessen that - especially in their final years. They’re the main places I’d like to volunteer. I’ve done time in “soup kitchens” here and in the UK, which I enjoyed, I only worked in the kitchen though helping prepare things and cleaning up - every time I wasn’t allowed out the front to serve, which is weird because I have LOTS of experience with that sort of thing? The way they implied it was that I was a young woman, but still? I guess 99% of those visiting there would be fine but maybe 1% wouldn’t be? Still though. Anyway I’d like to volunteer more. I need to learn to be comfy leaving the house first, maybe get my social anxiety under control a little more but I don’t need to be perfect because doing these things will help my issues. What else could I do? I donate to charities and have for years, sometimes I’ve had monthly deductions, sometimes I just donate on a whim. Like that fresh water one, I can’t remember the name off the top of my head but every few months I impulsively donate $100 or so. It’s not enough though, I should be better. I just get suss of the charities themselves and I don’t know how much actually goes to the cause, like I know they need to fund admin costs which makes sense but anyway. I just don’t have any skills, so other than vague stuff there’s not any real impact I can offer. Andy for example, he’s so talented and clever and creative, I bet he would have ways to make an impact. Like if he was to visit elderly people it would be SUCH a success as he’s so chatty and personable and kind and lovely and everything that’s good, so he would keep them entertained and ask the right questions. Whereas I’m not a talker so I would be awkward and quiet and they would have to lead the conversation and they likely don’t want that, unless I asked to be paired with chatty kathys of course. My nana was like that, you ask one question and she won’t stop talking for an hour. At least from memory, I don’t remember so well as I was littler. Hm. Anyway. I just feel like I’m a big time detractor of the world. That’s kind of a good villain name, The Detractor. Another way I can offer more is to be better, for example if I’m better then I don’t make Andy miserable which means he would feel more encouraged to live his life happily which would therefore positively affect everyone who comes into contact with him, which I know happens now anyway but maybe if he has a supportive loving girlfriend it will be even more so? Like I can be a lil battery for him, because I don’t really like interacting with others too much, or I do but I don’t like to be an active member, I like to listen and observe and chime in every now and then. None of this makes sense. But if I’m better then that has a positive effect on people around me. That’s what I’m trying to say. I’m always polite though, like if I take the bus I always say thank you when I hop off, I always say thank you when a waiter refills my drink or puts down my cutlery or whatever else. Even when I don’t want to talk at all and an Uber driver clearly does I will chat away even though my social battery is running on fumes because I don’t want them to feel rejected and maybe they need to chat, even if it’s about nothing. I always put supermarket trollies back into their homes. I never litter. I hold doors open for people, but only when it means they won’t have to do an awkward run for it because that’s not polite that’s annoying. So I think I’m polite, but a polite person does not make a good person - and I am not a good person. Or a worthwhile one.
So far this morning I have chatted to Andy, got up and made a strawbs smoothie, did a lil kitchen clean/tidy up, went back to lay on my bed but not IN bed and I read for a little bit, I journaled the bit up there and now I’m watching some YT. I’m really trying to stretch out my read time of this book, I’m excited to get into HP after this one but I also don’t want to let go of this world and these characters yet, even though it’s a reread. I’d like to have a productive day but I’m also going to let myself do whatever I fancy… I hope I fancy being productive.
I wound up reading/watching about those body and face types again, because a YT video came up as suggested. Anyway, so apparently you can be more yin or yang and I’m a definite yin. Yang is more angular, sharp and blunt whereas yin is soft, rounded and curved. I also feel like I’m a yin person, I was reading about that recently, I think I need to actively work to have more yang in my life in order to be more balanced? I mean these descriptors? Negative, passive, feminine, dark, cool, soft, reflective, still, calm, nurture, quiet, introspective, prefers solitude, cautious etc. Hellllllllllllo. Whereas yang is more embodied by words like active, light, warm, outgoing/sociable, masculine, direct, expressive, loud, restless, productive, growth, passion etc. Things that don’t really describe me. So I think maybe in that sense I’m imbalanced. It seems I’m imbalanced in everything, so that’s great. Excellent, even. I feel like Andy is 100% the yang to my yin. Maybe that’s a factor in why we work well? We balance each other? I think he has a mix of both though, he’s much more balanced. I was about to write “he’s perfect” but I am also a biased, love sick girl soooo… but I think we balance each other well, no? Anyway I’m reading more about yin vs yang and I definitely need more Yang in me because these are all yin:
Signs of “excess” in yin: * Oversleeping * Overthinking * Slow thinking * Sluggishness * Laziness * Compulsive behaviour * Lack of motivation * Apathy * Overeating :(
Versus yang that lists things like anger, restlessness, violence, frustration, inability to relax & let go, insomnia, addictions, need for constant stimulation, regular headaches etc.
And “personality traits” in yin: * imagination * peacefulness * wisdom (not for meee) * relaxation * satisfaction (?) * persistence (only with some things) * introversion
Versus yang that lists things like action, ambition, courage, adventurousness, extroversion, getting things done etc.
And “activities” for yin: * yoga * tai chi * slow walking * golf * qi gong * weight lifting * stretching
Versus yang that lists things like cardio, running, fast dancing, wrestling, hiking, swimming, biking etc.
Anyway I know this is all just one of those things, but also it makes total sense. But this reminds me of the therapy lesson where I learned I like these sorts of things, similar to the Myers Briggs thing etc, because I don’t really know who I am and so I find being grouped into a category really affirming and makes me feel less… outsidey. Which is a thing for me as I don’t easily click with people, I can get along fine with more or less anyone but I don’t genuinely enjoy the company of just anyone and I find it very difficult to be myself with just anyone, I have some form of a wall up with everyone bar a couple of people like my parents, Andy, M and K to an extent. But it also depends, if I don’t spend time with someone for awhile my walls go back up. It’s a huge reason why I don’t really enjoy social things, if it’s a one on one thing I can but in a group? Even with the girls from work who I know well, but I can’t relax and I don’t enjoy myself at all. I try to but I just feel like I’m outside of the bubble. But so anyway all that is why I gravitate towards these groupings of personality, even looks like the fact I was watching a video about face/body types which is why I started this paragraph. I like being able to see examples and do a quiz and find out I’m whatever and then seeing similarities in others who are in the group. It makes me feel included and less alone. It basically all comes down to the fact I always feel like I’m on the outside, of everything. I don’t feel included in anything really. Which comes back to my self esteem/self worth… or lack thereof. I’m wondering when I’m meant to be getting more of that btw, like WHEN? It’s the root of all my issues. Mostly.
I’ve been wondering if I should consider lightening my eyebrows… that sounds kinda crazy, well crazy in the land of eyebrow stuff, but idk. I have warm brown hair… but basically black eyebrows? It’s weird and I’ve always hated it. I know eyebrows always lean cooler than the hair on your head, so that’s natural, but idk, it’s just my hair is so warm and my brows so cool - it’s always irked me. I’ve never quite realised it was that though, I just always thought something was off, but I’m now starting to wonder if my brows should be ever so lightened. I never even thought of it as a potential solution til I saw some girl doing it and it gave her a much softer look. I know they also need to be darker by a shade or two, well they don’t NEED to be but that’s generally the natural look and I only want a natural result. So a deep brown? Because right now they’re damn near black. And I find the black jarring against my fair skin too, I like having dark brows - I would hate to have light/fair brows, and dark brows are supposedly wanted because they make the person with them appear younger, or rather fair brows can age a face. So I like that mine are dark… I just want them MAYBE a fraction lighter. But the idea scares me! Because if you bleach them then anything you add on top will likely lean super warm and idk. So idk how I’d even go about it. The woman I watched doing it on YT just used an at home bleach kit or something and she used it several times so I guess it won’t do much but still… I’m scared :(
I set up my new monitor!!!!!!!!!!! By myself!!!!!!! I know how tiny it is but I’m still so pleased with myself. I felt so embarrassed telling Andy, or less embarrassed and more silly/stupid I guess. Like it’s such a nothing thing but idk, I was nervous and I wrote out a step by step list to work through so I wouldn’t get overwhelmed and things while doing it. And when I say step by step I literally mean:
  1. Unwrap the boxes and take each item out
  2. Make sure to keep them in their own little areas and don’t mix them up
  3. Clear my desk of everything
  4. Clean my desk
  5. Set up the new monitor with the stand
  6. Place both monitors on the desk
  7. Plug both monitors into power source
  8. Put laptop on the desk
  9. Put the HDMI connector usb into the laptop
  10. Put one monitor HDMI cable into the laptop, as normal
  11. Put the other monitor HDMI cable into the connecter
  12. Connector should be connected to laptop with only one external HDMI a cable inside
  13. Turn on my laptop and see if they all connect up - don’t stress if they don’t
  14. Play around/google/ask Andy if any issues
  15. Arrange my new desk! Try use the cable tidy things and make it nice.
So I mean, an absolute step by step. It didn’t cover all the steps as I forgot about the mouse parts and things. But anyway I did itttttt. I need to move the stuff around though because they’re too far apart but I’ll do that tomorrow. I also need to work out how to add an extra plug so I can charge my laptop too as there’s not enough plugs.
I asked him if he wanted to watch Bridg erton and I wish I hadn’t because he feels weird about it. I only asked because idk, wishful thinking? I want to watch it with him :( From season one, obviously. Idk I know he doesn’t want to so I won’t push it, but I want to show him shows I love too. I just like regency era stuff like this and idk. I shouldn’t have asked, now he thinks I want to watch with someone else? Like… who? I guess mum or M. But why get suss about that. Anyway. I guess I’ll watch it by myself, like I expected. I can’t wait for the music. And the costumes!!!!!!!! My favourite. Anyway idk. I just want to share things I love with him the way he does with me.. but maybe I just don’t like anything he’ll like?
I want the Laura Mercier strawberry blush a lot :( But I’m really trying to not buy makeup I don’t need and I already have 30-odd blushes which I don’t get enough use out of, including LM ones. But it’s such a pretty colour!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had a trillion dollars so I could have all the colours and formulas my little heart desired. But also in saying that I love the idea of being one of those women who have one makeup bag and everything fits inside, and they have maybe one or two shades or blush/lip colour and the rest is just one. It seems so easy and simple and I would really like to be like that but I am definitely not like that at all. I’m slowly learning to be more like that with skincare because that’s how it should be, but makeup…? Even though I don’t wear a lot I just love having it and looking at it. Like I just swiped some highlighter on my hand the other day to look at how shimmery it was, I didn’t apply it to my face, I just had a tiny swipe on my hand and I’d just look at it now and then. I only do that with highlighter though obviously and I love shimmery glittery sparkly things. Mum has always called me a magpie for a reason.
He’s asleep. I miss him. I can’t wait til we live together and when he’s asleep and I’m not and I miss him I can just go snuggle in next to him for a while. But not too close, as he gets too hot. I also don’t want to wake him. The idea of him doing the same with me makes me feel like floating on a cloud. And the time he said he’d still cuddle me to sleep even when he was on a different sleep cycle to me??????? Still obsessed. I wonder if that was a turning point in when my feelings were developing? I know I already fancied the hell out of him, I did from the beginning and I fell so hard and so fast for him. But I wonder if when he said that it was one of those moments that cemented him as the kind of man he is? Or rather the kind of partner he’d be? Because I’ve always wanted someone that cares about what makes me happy and I mean let’s not beat around the bush, I’ve not had a relationship where that’s been a priority to them. So the fact he knows I love being held and cuddled and I would sometimes miss it when he slept differently but if I wanted it he’d come to bed and stay with me til I fell asleep or close enough. And the fact he didn’t see it as anything special, it was just a normal thought to him?! It’s such a minor thing in comparison to everything else he has done for me and everything he has been to me and everything he’s helped me through, but it’s just a little thing that means everything. Anyway.
I watched wish with M tonight, it wasn’t good. I just can’t get on board with the latest movies of theirs lately, they’re just so bleh. The music isn’t right - there’s nothing magical about it and I wonder if it’s because they seem to hire pop music people not composers and things now? And the animation is never 2D anymore, which tbh I understand and that’s purely nostalgia of mine than anything bad but the animation doesn’t feel magical either anymore. Apart from some of the scenes were beautiful. Anyway.
I think I’ll stop now. It’s 9:30 so it’s too late for to start BT so I think I’ll read for a lil bit then go to sleep soon. Night night
