Basically, what I do is :
- Whenever (but most of time when I'm in the shower) I have a game or even just a mechanic idea, I open a dedicated spreadsheet and note it down (quick name, pitch, inspirations (ie. what I was thinking of when the idea came)).
- When it's time, I choose 3 or 4 prototypes from this idea list to make and I dedicate one week to each. It will look rough, lots of placeholders, but as long as the main mechanic I want to propose is in there it's alright.
- I invite some friends over and I ask them to test out the prototypes over a beer. From their reaction I learn which one is the funniest from the get go, and which one is the most interesting and I make my decision from there.
I'm curious, what is your process ? How did you decide this game would be the one you'll dedicate several months and years of your life ?

I see recipes saying to dehydrate fruit for 6 - 12 hours, but when watching videos I see people going for a full 24 hours. Is it better to go longer to ensure all the moisture is gone to prevent mold? Or does it loose too much flavor?
Fruits I’m specifically wanting to dehydrate first are are strawberries, kiwi, mango, banana, apple, pineapple.
Also planning to store in mason jars, unless there’s a better method?

I've owned the AF400 for a few years, it came time to get new baskets and new liners as the coating starting to wear and I personally am bit OCD like that and think I've had its money worth to upgrade them, this was going to set me back £80 so I thought might aswell sell the airfyer as is to my parents for £40 and buy something else.
I have tried the AF500 for few days when it first came out but was returned due to shipping damage, I only used for day or so, so can't remember if I like it, I recently bought the doublestack and returned due to the poor cooking performance on time it took and results/unevenness.
I have done research and landed back on the AF500 vs What I had, as it was fine.
I really like the idea of a bigger basket, but also think I can survive.
I watch some video's on AF500 vs AF400 and few of the test show me that the AF400 cooks food better and often the reviewer doesn't go into detail and just says its odd, I want to go more into this.
Both machines are rated for 2470W yet one is bigger in its overall volume of the basket so it makes sense that the AF400 can get hotter quicker and likely overall hotter too? Both state 240c but I will imagine if we stick a probe in there for 10 minutes and see the temperature on a plot your see the AF400 be at that top temp much longer.
There is the con in the AF500 of not being able to shack one basket as easy and people suggest to pull basket out and use tongs to move stuff, in which is a massive heat reduction to the basket for this amount of time which cools down the food too, whereas on AF400 a quick shake which hardly opens the drawer likely gets better shake and less temperature reduction.
The cleaning of baskets if only using one is easier but if doing 2 stuff likely not much diffrence this point I'm happy to get over for the size allowance.
Another big thing I am cursious about is the divider, This IMO does not seem to seal the heat as well, the baskets wall seems tallethicker and not only that but there is technically 2 baskets wall from eachother for heat to affect.
if doing 2 tempertures in each basket again I recon the accuracy is better on AF400.
In my opinion the AF500 is a good machine but for it to be as good as the AF400 it needs to have more power maybe 2700W to be able to counter its bigger size, less insulated baskets and need for more time moving food

I'm currently facing the issue of synchronizing a visualization (which I'm drawing on a Skia Canvas) with a video (using expo-av). The basic idea is that I'm highlighting parts of the video using a rectangle, circles, lines, etc. that I'm drawing on the canvas. However the issue I'm facing is that the video and the visualization are often out of sync, with the visualization lagging behind a few frames or milliseconds behind the video, so it appears to be a performance issue. Most likely this is cause by a not so optimal drawing approach from my side. I use the `onPlaybackStatusUpdate` method to update a `sharedValue` holding the milliseconds and then use a `useDerivedValue` to get the data for the frame and then adding the individual components such as circles, lines, etc. to the canvas. Here's my current situation. I'd love some opinions or ideas.
This all "started" (I say that because I think my anxiety has been around for years, just never had physical symptoms, if that makes sense) after my grandma passed away in Dec 2023. Two days after she died, I was driving to the airport to pick up my siblings and I started to feel lightheaded and nauseous, like I might throw up. Pulled over and my mom continued driving. I never passed out or threw up. This would happen a few times again, during driving, until mid Jan. Same symptoms every time.
Then I started to get the same symptoms at the grocery store. The worst was on Feb 20th. I had the worst anxiety attack of my life. My grocery cart was full, I was almost to the checkout and I felt this rush go through my body. Then shaking, nausea, lightheaded, just panic. I had to abandon my full cart and leave the store.
After this I started to suspect it was the medication I was taking. I had started taking Zepbound, which is a glp1. I had lost 20 lbs so I thought, maybe it's from weight loss. Hypoglycemia, blood pressure etc. All of that was fine. I coincidentally started taking Zepbound two days after my 1st anxiety attack. The one on the way to the airport. So I thought maybe the Zepbound didn't CAUSE the anxiety attack, but it could have heightened them?
I also have hashimotos, and I suspected that my thyroid had flipped into hyper. My labs showed my T3 was high, and my TSH was at its lowest ever in my life, 1.42. So I stopped Zepbound and started lowering my thyroid medication. My symptoms didn't improve, but I was convinced it was thyroid or medication related.
I asked my doctor to refer me to an ENT to rule out stuff. ENT said my hearing was perfect. Didn't suspect vestibular migraine and no BPPV and no meniers. ENT referred me to a physical therapist for vestibular therapy. I had my first appointment last week and she diagnosed me with PPPD. My current symptoms are just dizziness and lightheadedness, like walking on a boat. I don't get the nausea, shaking, or feeling like throwing up anymore. I've never passed out but the dizziness is so debilitating. It's not all day, just shows up when I'm exposed to my triggers. Driving, grocery stores, crowded places, conversations with people, haircuts.
Basically she said it's all anxiety related. She was very reassuring that its manageable. She also said a lot of her patients do well on SSRI. I've had Zoloft 25mg sitting in my cabinet for weeks now because I'm not comfortable taking it. I also had my vitamin d checked last week and it was very low, 27. Iron was fine, ferritin 51, b12 408. So I've started taking vit d3 5000iu day.
I've accepted that this is all anxiety related. Could this be low vit d symptoms? My question is, are SSRIs the only option for PPPD? Can you manage this with natural methods? CBD oil? Magnesium? I've never taken SSRI ever and I've been reading some really bad stuff about them, specifically Zoloft. I did recently come across a book called 'How to rewire your anxious brain.' It teaches you how to fight through your anxiety and stand up to your amygdala.
I want to find my root cause. I know that my grandma passing away could've been traumatic but somehow I don't believe that's the cause. I didn't know it was possible for an event like that to change your brain? I was in the room, holding her hand when she took her last breath. So yeah, it was very upsetting for me.
Anyway, I have a therapist who I'm in contact with regularly. I would LOVE to hear some positive feedback/success stories with SSRI's. I'm a mom to a 9 and 7 year old. Stay at home Mom with many many responsibilities and I feel like I'm not who I used to be. I can feel myself detaching from my family and I hate it. I want them to be able to count on me. Just a side note, I've caught more respiratory illnesses than I usually do. Like back to back! I had this nasty cough over Christmas, I never tested for covid, but daughter ended up getting covid a week later. Same with my parents, even my grandpa. So it was going around. Since that illness, I've never fully recovered. I'll get "better", but I still have this deep cough with phlegm. A couple weeks go by and then another cold! That's why I'm thinking is this vitamin d? No fever anything like that. Just a lingering respiratory thing.

I know that about 90% of this sub believea in the "it's only illegal if you get caught" mantra, but I'd like to get the discussion going in what VLOS actually is.
Recently, the EASA released this guideline document: https://www.easa.europa.eu/en/downloads/139435/en
They state:
ALOS (meters)=327xCD+20
With CD the characteristics dimension of the drone, basically the longest line one can draw between two elements of the drone.
That means that VLOS would be: * About 300m for a DJI M300 * About 125m for a DJI Mavic * About 100m for a DJI Mini
Basically, if you go to the maximum altitude for normal flights (120m or 400ft), you are already at the VLOS line for most consumer drones.
Wikipedia tells us that “Humans can resolve with their naked eyes diameters down to about 1 arcminute (approximately 0.017°)”. That would be: * About 1700m for an M300 * About 750m for a Mavic * About 550m for a Mini
One thing that is clear is that VLOS isn't simply "there's a dot in the sky that I assume is my drone", but more of an actionable distance if you lose video feedback.
I think that the EASA suggestions are crazy restrictive, and that the distance giving the ability to detect the dot in the sky is much further than what VLOS is.
I would set those values to about 2 to 3 times the EASA suggestions (750m for a M300 sounds about right).

Hoping for some help finding a YouTube series I watched a couple years back that I can’t seem to find now.
There was a great series where a guy was teaching how to climb through the ELO ratings.
He would do a video for each range say 600-800, 800-1000, etc…and in each of those videos he would abide by a strict set of principals. For example from 600-800, he would intentionally skip moves that he knew were good, and instead play like a 600 player may. He would only look for hanging pieces. As the videos progressed, he would add various tactics. But it was a strict method he used.
Does this sound familiar to any of you? I’ve been looking for it all day and I can’t seem to find it!
