Question about the 10 Shadows.

2024.05.13 12:26 Own-Confusion-9600 Question about the 10 Shadows.

SO, in chapter 233 Sukuna uses Max Elephants water shooting ability without summoning the shikigami and he uses it to replicate peircing blood which is particularly interesting as it poses questions like how much of the power can be used and what other applications are there? could a 10S user be able to use Nues electricity in a similar way to Kashimos' CE trait? and the application of the other shikigamis' abilities. all of this to set context for my main question, how is MEGUMI SUCH A BUM?
He gets handed on a silver platter a top 3 CT AND THE STRONGEST SORCERER IN HISTORY WITH THE SIX EYES not just as his mentor but as his ADOPTIVE FATHER FROM LIKE 5 YEARS OLD, I really feel like the Legubum sympathizers do not understand the gravity of the situation he was born into a very powerful clan that is abusive so he gets saved by the ONLY PERSON who could potentially do better for his training. Megumi (here on referred to as Bum) Had a PRISTINE chance to see every single shikigami and there abilities before trying to subjugate them for real by just having DADDY GOJO JOIN IN AND MAKE SURE HE DOESN'T DIE. This is the part where we question if The Honored Bum Has any Talent or IQ or anything to like about him because you're telling me this guy is a GRADE 2 AT THE START OF JJK?????? the fact he has the audacity to even be enrolled at TJH seeing as he has nearly all the advantages in life and couldn't even start his first year at school with HALF the shikigami is sad and I'm ignoring the fact that if he abused binding vows he could get all the shikigami without issue excluding mahoraga, which speaking of mahoraga. WHY IS THIS KID OBSESSED WITH MAHORAGA like any time he is losing a fight he has to REALLYYYY think between the options of 1. Suicide or 2. TRYING AT ALL, you already know that if National Geographic the curse technique was in Gojos shoes during hidden inventory he wouldnt have learnt RCT, because Mahoraga wouldve already whooped his ass. So all this to say The Honored Bum must be a product of nepotism as he had all the opportunity's to be something special and picked being a suicide bomber who lets Sukuna dog walk him.
What I am bout to divulge may make your monocle fall off your face in shock but I used to be a big m*gumi fan specifically during the culling games, before the culling games he was fine but I had other favs and you can see how I feel now but right in the middle was a golden spot where instead of wanting to kill everything with maho or his soul "giving up" he was IMPROVING, he started using his shadow powers for stealth he beat Reggie and his crew in a cool ass fight BUT it all falls apart when, like a former addict trying to go cold turkey, he tries to summon Mahoraga on Sukuna instead of going into the shadows or using binding vows to escape, I should've known it was too good to be true that the walking petting zoo could escape his habits. not to mention that this is CLEARLY ONE OF THE WORST TIME TO HAVE AN OUTBURST OF DIVINE GENERALS, because what is the best case senario here? he gets Yuji AND himself killed. This one moment made me turn around and actually look at The 8 Handled Bum closer and then I see all this and my admiration turned into vitriol not only because he WAS a bum but because he was GETTING BETTER AND THEN DROPPED IT ALL FOR NOTHING.
The only way I see a redemption is if Potential boy does some crazy shit like use mitosis to make another body to use against sukuna and he has all that "elite Jujitsu" that kusakabe was blabbering about with Yuji
P.S: my preamble was just to point out a bit of potential that people often overlook when actually talking about his potential

2024.05.11 00:41 ornamental_conifer Oncotype DX score and chemo question

Hi everyone. It's been three weeks and I am still in the process of, well, processing the fact that I have Breast Cancer and right now I'm trying get into the headspace on how realistic it is for chemo to be in my future. I already met with my oncologists who both told me they wouldn't know for certain until after my DMX when they will biopsy the tumor as well as the Sentinel nodes to see what the next steps will be. That all being said, I do have my core needle biopsy results which state the following:
The tumor is 3 cm and mobile.
I figured the Ki-67 results alone combined with the Grade 3 and Nottingham Score would have been enough for them to say "instant chemo" but instead the oncologists both told me that the Ki-67 number wasn't an exact science and that's why they won't recommend any treatment until after they biopsy the lymph nodes and the tumor to get the Oncotype DX score.
The wait is definitely messing with my head. I hate sitting here doing nothing until the surgery. I feel so powerless. I'm trying to get in the right headspace for whatever upcoming treatment I may realistically face. From the feedback I've gotten from other Breast Cancer survivors, it sounds like a Ki-67 number that high in addition to it be Grade 3 means it's growing very rapidly and that I will need a loooot of chemo after my DMX.
I get this a little ramble-y, but I'm just so worried that my Oncotype DX score will come back crazy high and I'll have to be put on a really aggressive amount of chemo in addition to the Tamoxifen and Zoladex which they intend to start me on the day of the surgery. Is anyone else on this forum getting similar feedback saying that the Ki-67 number isn't an exact science or that the oncologists won't recommend a treatment until the Oncotype DX score is in? Do you think this may require chemo? I'm just trying to be proactive and mentally prepare myself so that I don't lose my marbles in the doctor's office when they start rolling out the treatment recommendations after my DMX.

2024.05.03 11:37 Revolutionary-Sky758 The Art of Effective Flashcards: Creating, Using, and Retaining Information

We've all been there – staring down a mountain of information, desperately cramming for an exam. Textbooks pile up, notes blur together, and panic starts to set in. But fear not, fellow students! There's a trusty warrior in your study arsenal: the humble flashcard.
But wait, you might say, "aren't flashcards just for memorizing vocabulary?" Flashcards can be SO much more! They're a powerful tool for actively engaging with information, boosting recall, and achieving that sweet, sweet understanding.

The Power of Flashcards

Flashcards are an essential study tool that, when used correctly, can significantly enhance your learning experience. Whether you’re preparing for exams, learning a new language, or trying to retain complex information, flashcards can be your secret weapon. Here’s why they work so well:
  1. Active Learning: Unlike passive methods like re-reading notes or watching videos, flashcards require active engagement. You actively test your memory by recalling information before flipping the card to reveal the answer. This process of active recall strengthens neural connections in your brain, leading to better memory retention.
  2. Metacognition: After revealing the answer, you compare it to what you initially thought. This metacognitive process forces you to reflect on your thought processes and adjust them for accuracy. It’s like fine-tuning your mental gears.
  3. Spaced Repetition: Flashcards allow you to practice confidence-based repetition. When you separate cards into categories based on how well you know the answers, struggling cards get repeated more often. This spaced repetition technique reinforces memory by exposing your brain to the information multiple times, spaced out enough to challenge recall abilities.
Here's how to craft impactful flashcards and leverage spaced repetition for maximum learning gains.

Tips on Creating Impactful Flashcards

Ditch the boring, single-sentence flashcards. Here's how to make yours information powerhouses:
  1. Phrase Your Flashcards as Questions:
  1. Use the Specification:
  1. Add a Bit of Color:
  1. Avoid Overloading Information:
  1. Neatness Matters:
  1. Consider Visual Aids:

The Magic of Spaced Repetition

Imagine studying a topic once and remembering it perfectly a month later. That's the beauty of spaced repetition. It's a scientifically proven technique that involves reviewing information at increasingly spaced intervals to optimize long-term memory.
Here's the basic idea:
  1. Initial Encounter: During your first review, you'll likely struggle with the information on your flashcards. Don't worry, that's part of the process!
  2. Short Intervals: Shortly after your initial encounter (think a day or two), revisit the cards you struggled with. This helps strengthen those neural pathways in your brain.
  3. Expanding Intervals: As you answer correctly, the time between reviews increases. Cards you consistently get right will be spaced out further, while tricky ones will be shown more frequently.
This approach ensures you're focusing on the information you need the most, making your studying sessions more efficient and effective.

Taking Your Flashcards Digital

While the classic pen-and-paper method is awesome, there are a plethora of free and paid flashcard apps available. These offer features like:

The Takeaway

Flashcards are a powerful tool, but it's how you use them that matters. By crafting effective cards and leveraging spaced repetition, you can transform your studying sessions from rote memorization to active learning, maximizing information retention and boosting your academic performance.
Bonus Tip: Don't just study alone! Quizzing yourself or studying with a partner using flashcards can significantly enhance your learning and make the process more enjoyable.

2024.04.29 04:23 AdGullible7382 I did badly in High School and want to pursue Pharmacy just as Junior Year is ending--is there really, truly a good chance for me to make it in this field?

I did bad in high school and just now want to pursue Pharmacy as Junior year is ending--is there really, honestly, a good chance for me?
This turned out to be pretty long and I know some might just scroll down real quick and leave at sight of two massive paragraphs , but I just really want some insight of wether or not my high school performance is going to worsen my chance of making it in this field :(
I'm currently a Junior in High School and I'm really worried. Our state University (Rutgers) has a pretty amazing Pharm Program, and I'd absolutely love to go into it and fully want to major in biochemistry. Problem is that high school was just....not good. It sounds okay on face level, I have an unweighted 3.4 gpa and a weighted 3.9 . I only have one AP Class this year which is AP Lang. I've taken our required Biology and Chemistry classes, and I'm in accelerated Physics this year, and even then my Biology and Chemistry classes were only Level 2. I had to DROP a level in Algebra 2---and, I'm in Algebra 2. I should have been in Calc 1 by now but the academic mess up has been haunting me since 8th grade. I'll be going to Stats Level 2 next year. I have a few extracurriculars, which again are okay on face level. I'm in two consistent clubs which is our Teacher's Club (Assistant teachers at the elementary schools) and MSA (Muslim Student Association), I've got a decent number of volunteers hours from our donation clubs, I've volunteered at our masjid and the library, and I'm in NAHS(National Arts Honors Society). I also have 10 college credits from Freshman year from completing our Teen Arts Program and 10 college credits last year from dual enrollments in Spanish. I'm getting a job this summer and taking the AP Lang, World History and Psych Exams, and next year I'm hopefully making it to AP Lit, AP Gov, and Ap Visual Arts, and I'm hoping to get my little side comic published before Senior Year end. I'm searching for pre-college summer programs at the moment. No matter how much my Guidance Counselor says I'm "okay" I know okay isn't enough.
Rutgers at least, knows us very very well. We're practically in their backyard, they know what students are bs'ing and know who tried to make full use of our school. This year especially, Rutgers is rejecting students and waitlisting, they're having an influx of applications. The competition is getting so high that it's really no longer a safety school anymore. I'm worried. I have upperclassmen friends who went into Pharmacy and they've been to AP Calc, AP Physics, AP Stats. They had the 4.0 GPA and the solid extracurricular base in research internships. It SHOWS in their background that they prepared for Pharm or a field of the sort. I feel like I'm just all over the places and there's a clear inclination towards the arts much more than research when looking at me. I've been pursuing Arts for a long time but came to the eventual realization that I don't really want it to be my main career. I discovered an absolute love for Chemistry last year and I just know I would do well in a Pharmacy field. I genuinely feel it, I feel joy being able to sit at my teacher's table after hours and ranting about Antibiotic Resistance and stupid mitosis puns. I had a horribly tumultuous year this year with a chronic medical condition, and it's truly been eye-opening. Heck that's probably the topic of my college essay. I just know I'd enjoy the field, I'm going to work hard and do whatever it takes. I aspire to say I am working hard after all these messy years, but more often than not it feels like I'm too late. I know it could be worse. But it doesn't beat the feeling how I feel so average in everyone's eyes, because I'm constantly living with the regret of "why didn't I do more earlier?"
Some sources say high school matters and others say it doesn't. Some say just do well in college and get into the Pharmacy school. Do I truly have any chance of making it to that Pharmacy career? What can I still do now? How was it for you guys? Is anyone in a similar spot(pretty unlikely) but what would you do if not?

2024.04.27 18:00 AutoModerator Monthly Homework Help Megathread

All requests for help with exam study and homework questions must be posted here. Posts made outside this thread will generally be removed.
Are you a student in need of some help with your genetics homework? Do you need clarification on basic genetics concepts before an exam? Please ask your questions here.
Please follow the following basic guidelines when asking for help:

Please use the following template when asking questions:
Question template
Type:
Level:
System:
Topic:
Question:
Answer:
What I know:
What I don’t know:
What I tried:
Other:
End template

Example
Type: Homework
Level: High school
System: Cats
Topic: Dihybrid cross
Question: “The genetic principles that Mendel uncovered apply to animals as well as plants. In cats, for instance, Black (B) is dominant over brown (b) fur color and Short (S) fur is dominant over long (s) fur. Suppose a family has a black, short-furred male, heterozygous for both of these traits that they mate with a heterozygous black, long-furred female. Determine and present the genotypes of the two parent animals, the likely gametes they could produce and assuming they have multiple, large liters what is the proportion of kittens of each possible phenotype (color and length) that the family might expect.”
Answer: N/A
What I know: I understand how to do a Punnett square with one allele. For example, Bb x Bb.
B b
B BB Bb
b Bb bb
What I don’t know: I don’t know how to properly set up the Punnett square to incorporate the additional S (fur length) allele in the gamete.
What I tried: I tried Googling “cat fur genetics” and didn’t find any useful examples.
Other: What happens if there is another allele added to these?
End of Example

This format causes me abject pain, why do I have to fill out the template?
  1. We want folks to learn and understand. Requiring the user to put in effort helps curb the number of “drive-by problem sets” being dumped onto the sub from users expecting the internet to complete their assignments.
  2. Posters often do not include enough information to adequately help answer the question. This format eliminates much of the guesswork for respondents and it allows responders quickly assess the level of knowledge and time needed to answer the question.
  3. This format allows the posts to be programmatically archived, tagged, and referenced at later times for other students.
Type: Where did the question come from? Knowing the origin of the question can help us formulate the best available answer. For example, the question might come from homework, an exam, a course, a paper, an article, or just a thought you had.
Level: What is the expected audience education level of the question and answer? This helps us determine if the question should be answered in the manner of, “Explain like I’m 5” or “I’m the PI of a mega lab, show me the dissertation” E.g.--elementary school, high school, undergraduate, research, nonacademic, curiosity, graduate, layperson
System: Which species, system, or field does the question pertain? E.g.—human, plant, in silico, cancer, health, astrobiology, fictional world, microbiology
Topic: What topic is being covered by the question? Some examples might include Mendelian genetics, mitosis, codon bias, CRISPR, or HWE.
Question: This is where you should type out the question verbatim from the source.
Answer: If you’ve been provided an answer already, put it here. If you don’t have the answer, leave this blank or fill in N/A.
What I know: Tell us what you understand about the problem already. We need to get a sense of your current domain knowledge before answering. This also forces you to engage with the problem.
What I don’t know: Tell us where you’re getting stuck or what does not make sense.
What I tried: Tell us how you’ve approached the problem already. What worked? What did not work?
Other: You can put whatever you want here or leave it blank. This is a good place to ask follow-up questions and post links.

2024.04.25 15:41 Soloma369 Hutchison Frequency & Cannabis project update.

EVOS, Harmonics and Hutchison Frequency Cannabis
Including my email response to Nancy. I view Nancy as a sort of gatekeeper to her and John's work, as is John in his own way. I liken it to interacting with "DC" who had the offensive name and engaged in a catalytic conversation with/for me.
Thanks for this Nancy. I apologize for not giving feedback but I did want to say your understanding of "how things work" lines up very much with my own. I see the mobius strip as the parabola, it is the vortex and also the Holy Trinity. The parabola exists within the donut hole of the torus, they both make up Itzahk Bentov's Cosmic Egg, which I sometimes envision as 1/2 of the Mobius, where multiple/alternate Universes are connecting at the pinch or zero point. The 124875 = parabola = dimension = material while the 396 = torus = density = spiritual, I envision these Universes acting like metaphysical/spiritual circuits, that dont have to move, instead simply existing as pure potential that instantaneously morph from one reality to the other as needed. From pos/neg feedback loops to pos/pos feedback loops, which is the loop I think/feel we have recently connected and relates to the "nothing can stop what is coming" and the "big event", hence all the fear psyops which is an attempt to control the outcome. This is the sort of stuff Kevin the Navigator was always talking about on the Quonset Hut forum, "the spin", centripetal and centrifugal forces.
The seeds you sent me are originally from a white seed? Shall I expect these plants to be hermaphrodites, which essentially is what Source/Spirit/God was prior to the first mitosis or reflection. I am curious about this or if you have stabilized the genetics back to male and female plants. I am sure folks would be interested to know. Ive been a bit out of touch here recently, had to resolve my work situation as I have been out of work for the past year working through a bunch of stuff. Hopefully I can settle into a sort of balance with bringing in money and pursuing my journey of gaining knowledge and hopefully wisdom. Will share the video and this response to you on my sub, I know one fellow was interested in this follow up. Did you ever post it to GLP? Sometimes I wonder if that place is worth it, then I find a new gem there with a fresh, expanded perspective.

2024.04.24 05:30 CamBam0476 WSU Genetics Prerequisite

Hello everyone! I am stressing myself out a ton and would greatly appreciate some advice.
I was accepted to WSU this year, and I have been double and triple checking that my prerequisites are covered. I've started worrying that the genetics class I took this year will not fulfill the requirement. However, I can't find any courses nearby or online that appear any better. The class is not listed on their transfer course search tool. I've emailed the admissions office to ask about it, but they weren't much help. I am wondering if anyone who went to WSU could offer some insight.
WSU course description: Principles of modern and classical genetics. Topics that should be covered include basic Mendelian genetics, meiosis, mitosis, chromosome rearrangement, DNA structure and replication, mutations, bacterial and phage genetics, gene regulation, transcription, translation, plasmids, transposons, cloning, population genetics, and evolution.
My course description: This course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the principles of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genetics. Emphasis is placed on the molecular basis of heredity, chromosome structure, patterns of Mendelian and non-Mendelian inheritance, and the genetics of human disorders. In this course, students will demonstrate an understanding of the patterns of inheritance by analyzing how DNA, RNA, and proteins contribute to the genotype and phenotype of an organism. Students will apply this knowledge, along with their understanding of classic inheritance patterns, to a range of human genetic disorders.
At the completion of this course students will be able to: 1. Explain the structure of genetic information and how it is translated into the functional molecules of living organisms. 2. Identify, describe and distinguish between common patterns of inheritance. 3. Apply probability concepts to solve genetics problems. 4. Apply genetic principles to produce family pedigrees that illustrate inheritance patterns. 5. Explain the basis of mutations and their potential consequences. 6. Describe the techniques used in genetic screening and testing. 7. Evaluate current ethical, legal and social issues associated with human genetics.
The class also went over plasmids, gene regulation, and cloning, but I don't know if that matters as it is not on the syllabus. I am very worried that I've ruined my one chance of getting into veterinary school.

2024.04.23 19:22 mosura5282 Theory on what Cooper takes

My boyfriend and I were discussing this last night, and it stuck to me on what the mystery liquid he takes may be. Rad-Away is a theory I've heard floating around, bur I disagree, considering that radiation is actually beneficial to ghouls.
My personal theory is that the mystery fluid is FEV:
  1. Radiation kills because it triggers apoptpsis and prevents mitosis by damaging DNA to the point where it can't replicate.
  2. What does FEV do? In the first Fallout game, we learn that FEV increases mitotic speed by a significant amount, and also rewrites the host's DNA.
  3. According to The Project holodeck found in FO2, FEV can be administered in an aerosol; similar to the liquid inhaler that Cooper uses.
FEV delays the effects of a ghoul turning feral by essentially counteracting the negative effects of radiation by forcing cells to continue to undergo mitosis. Damaged cells, which FEV targets, are replaced with nonirradiated cells. In a way, it's like chemotherapy, but instead of killing off cancer cells, it's killing off dead/irradiated cells to be replaced with FEV cells. Those cells are then damaged by neighboring cells/the enviorment, requiring more FEV. The cycle continues.
This also ties into the mystery drug Thaddeus takes. I don't think that he takes a serum that turns him into a ghoul. Vault 12 was designed to study the effects of long term radiation exposure on its inhabitants; there is no precedent of an acute dose of radiation turning someone into a ghoul. FEV, on the other hand, WOULD increase healing significantly.
"Radiation may work hard, but FEV works harder."
Edit: My boyfriend has reminded me of Chase from 76, the NCR and Legion forces in The Divide from NV, as well as Searchlight Sabatoge as examples of acute radiation turning people into ghouls. I still personally don't think Thaddeus took a ghoul serum, but I am definitely slightly less sure and more open to different theories regarding whatever he took.
I've only played FO76, so there are definitely some other examples I have missed, but I think that acute radiation can turn someone into a ghoul rapidly, but there are still no examples of it having borderline instant effects.

2024.04.15 21:24 Talios_ The Consequences of Experimentation (A semi-serious lorepost)

((This all started because of a late night conversation with the person mentioned about, and I quote, "Talios Mitosis"))
Talios sat in the depths of Chaos, contemplating. Contemplating this newfound power he had learned; When within Chaos, he can use Chaos Form at no cost. On top of that... Unlike the usual chaotic form, it's a perfect copy in looks. Talios created copy upon copy, curiosity gaining the better of him. Chaos herself drifted down to him in her human form...
"T̴a̸l̶i̷o̸s̴.̵.̸.̷ ̴W̵h̶a̷t̴ ̸t̴h̷e̷ ̸f̸u̸c̵k̵?̶"
He had no answer. Eventually, after a point, Talios had grown tired of making the endless clones... And they were, regardless, inactive it seemed. In a comatose state. So Talios destroyed them, one by one.
But now, he had perfected his Chaos Form. Now, even outside of the realm of Chaos, Talios could make a perfect copy. But he was only able to do so once every three hours. Livia decided to take it upon herself to experiment on Talios, much to his dismay, and find out just how the clones work. What follows are the experimentation logs recorded.
BEGIN LOG
Experiment Log #1: Initial Summon
-To begin, Talios simply created a Talios Clone (referred to as a CT from now on) and we waited 24 hours.
-For approximately 12 hours, the CT was in a comatose state, essentially asleep standing. Their body was incredibly rigid, not even Talios himself could make it move a body part, almost like it was a statue. Despite that, the CT was very light and as a whole, was able to be carried around with ease, which was... Strange. Livia placed it off to the side.
-After approximately 12 hours, the CT suddenly sprang to life. Talios had control over the clones actions, although it could not speak. The CT's have their own Chaos Blades and the same knowledge as Talios, but It also seems that the CT's have additional restrictions, which are listed below.
-Clones do not have any enchantments imbued onto their body, which is... Strange, as all records indicate Talios's enchantments being imbued to his body. More info needed.
-Clones cannot act completely independent of Talios. They require commands to do anything, or for Talios to assume somewhat direct control with his mind. It seems they're all connected in some sort of hivemind.
-The clones in general seem to have less durability than Talios.
-Talios's armor does not link to the clones like it links to him, thus making them unable to call upon the armor. Also strange.
Experiment Log #2: Assuming Control Through Hivemind
-A test to see any changes in CT's when Talios assumes control of one through the hivemind. Using previous CT for this test.
-The only change noticeable is that Talios can speak through the clone, and that the clone is slightly stronger when under control. Still not as strong as Talios himself.
Experiment Log #3: Soul Transfer
-Talios expressed much dismay over this due to his 《Chaos Soul》 but Livia convinced him to attempt soul transfer into the CT.
-It was an easy enough process, all Talios had to do was touch the CT and focus. After preforming the soul transfer, Talios immediately collapsed and melted, while the CT suddenly went dormant again for 2 hours.
-After 2 hours, the CT awoke. Except it was no longer a clone, and now Talios. It appears all of Talios's enchantments are working in the new body, as well as the armor returning to him. It seems unlike what Talios has said, the enchantments are perhaps linked to his soul somehow. More research needed, but Talios denied, stating how for the duration of the two hours, he went through immense pain, no doubt because of his 《Chaos Soul》
-Talios denied any further testing, but has stated he will keep a back log of 300~ clones at any time stored in [REDACTED] for use as foot soldiers, spare bodies, and other miscellaneous uses.
Additional Notes
-It seems that unlike when Chaos recreates Talios when he dies, he does not lose some of his memory. Whether or not he trades not losing his memory in exchange for 2 hours of immense pain, is ultimately up to him.
END LOG

2024.04.13 08:30 FullMoonBlus [Again, Pt. 2]

Stand Name: Again, Pt. 2
Localised Name: Repeat Repeat
Reference: Again, Pt. 2, album by Men Without Hats
Appearance: Semi-Humanoid Stand
Again, Pt. 2 has a humanoid upper body that is 1ft from head to waist and is similar in shape to red hot chili pepper without the beak. It's body is coloured light blue but it's left arm and the left sides of it's torso and head have armoured plates with a checkerboard pattern of silver and dark blue diamonds. Coming out of it's waist is a long tail that usually wraps around some part of it's host before disappearing into their ear canal. It has small, circular eyes that glow a bright yellow.
Ability:
Again, Pt. 2 exists solely with the goal of surviving and duplicating. It feeds off of it's host's feeling's of deja vu, absorbing it as energy. Because of this, the stand will do anything in it's limited capabilities to set up situations where the host will feel deja vu.
Besides just feeding, the stand gathers energy so it is capable of undergoing mitosis to create a duplicate of itself. Upon creation, this duplicate attaches onto a nearby person to claim them as it's host. Duplicates of the stand have no loyalty to each other but will occasionally cooperate if it is mutually beneficial.
The stand has two major weaknesses.
  1. It's physical strength, while it is invisible to non-stand users, any stand with at least the strength of a human is able to pull it out of it's host. Without a host, it disintegrates in about 1-2 minutes.
  2. The stand is only capable of moving while exposed to light, going dormant if it is forced into darkness by it's host. This is why the stand doesn't ever take someone wearing a hat as it's host, it can't get to their ear because it is obscured from the light. They will also go dormant if their current host puts on a hat. While dormant, the stand expends very little energy but is unable to move, appearing to be asleep.
Stand Stats:
Power: C
Speed: A
Durability: C
Range: B (The stand can move about 30 metres away from it's host without disconnecting it's tail from their head)
Precision: A
Potential: E
If I win, I'd like the next theme to be stands based on books.

2024.04.11 01:34 spaghetti1278g TEAS 7 AMA

I took the TEAS 7 test online April 1st and got a 90%, ask me anything! This reddit community was super helpful to me while preparing for the TEAS, so I want to give back!
Here are my score breakdowns:
94.9% - Reading
90.9% - Science
93.9%- English
85.3%- Math
I finished all sections except math with 5-10 minutes to go,-- for math I ran down the clock to the end, but did answer all Qs.
Here was my study strategy:
(background): I am 26 and have been out of school since age 22,-- so while I have taken bio, chem, stats, A&P 1 and 2,--I honestly did not remember a single thing. I am historically very bad at math, and quite good at English/reading. The last time I took a math course (aside from stats, which is not on this test) was almost 9 years ago.
-I took about a month to study.
-I did extensive research and decided on the Mometrix ATI TEAS 7 study guide to be my guiding light in studying. I purchased it on Amazon, here is the link: The Mometrix Study Book I Used . This was one of my wisest choices.
-I skimmed each page of the Mometrix book, underlining as I went. Then I used Quizlet to make flashcards for each section. I ended up with 250+ flashcards for bio/chem, 350+ for A&P, and 30-70 for all other areas. I learn super well with memorization, so this is why I did this. I have linked my Quizlet sets below. Click "folders" "TEAS 2024" and all sets are in there. Keep in my mind these were *my* gaps of knowledge out of all pages of the Mometrix book, and you may have different ones. But if you are low on time, it may be helpful.
My Quizlet Page
-As I skimmed and underlined the book, I also circled concepts I knew I needed to understand, --ones that could not be memorized. How to make a punnet square, how to multiply/divide/subtract/add fractions, how to find slope from an equation, how to simplify fractions, etc. I made a list, and taught myself these things with Khan academy.
-I read a lot of Reddit and added flashcards based on items a lot of folks said were on their tests/were areas you should know for the test. I read articles about what sort of content/concepts are on the TEAS, and added those flashcards to my piles, and that content to my content-to-learn list.
-I fully skipped learning how to balance a chemical equation, the details of photosynthesis, and anything about meiosis/mitosis beyond the fact that meiosis makes 4 non-identical cells and mitosis makes 2 identical ones. This was honestly a little reckless lmao but I hate those topics so much and felt confident in other areas, so I said screw it and didn't study them. idk if it was luck but I didn't have a single Q on any of these subjects.
-Nursehub and Mometrix online practice tests were the main ones I did, and they were excellent. I would use those, but also threw in random websites and I'd recommend practice testing lots. It grows confidence and helps you get used to question styles, as well as ID gaps in your knowledge.
-I am a native English speaker. I mention this because it is an insane advantage on the TEAS test, and affects my studying suggestions. Even if I did not know *why* an English or Reading answer was correct, or what exactly was wrong about it,--I could easily tell with my gut or by asking myself if answer A, answer B, etc., etc., sounded normal. If you are lucky enough to be a native speaker, you can likely use your native fluency to get a lot of the grammar Qs. You will also be able to guess at word meanings when they say "look at context and define ___"--without using context, or the strategy they want you to use but instead thinking of similar words with the same greek roots, and detecting what that root must mean. I have many non-native speaker friends who kicked butt on the TEAS,--it is absolutely possible. I would suggest that perhaps you do more Eng/Reading studying than I did if you are not a native speaker, or not someone who has been speaking English daily for 8+ years.
Here is my top advice:
-This test is not as hard as most practice exams online. You are going to do wonderfully, be confident in yourself! Attitude is everything with testing, make sure you are confident and positive! (I am a pessimist lol so me telling you to be positive is a legit recommendation).
-Go pee before the exam,--I did not get the halfway break the exam said it would give, and neither have countless folks online. Do not expect that break. Be *well-fed* *well-hydrated* and *go pee* beforehand. Tbh you won't need it most likely, this exam is not as intense as it is rumored to be, but make sure you don't expect that break.
-Read each question twice, and *consider each answer option*. GO SLOW. EAT UP THE TIME THEY GIVE YOU. Even if the question is "what is 1+1" and the first answer choice is "2"--consider each answer. Often there are multiple "right" answers, but one that is best of all. Reading each Q twice and considering each option caused me to catch what would've been multiple missed Qs on the exam due to reading Qs quick, or jumping to the first answer that made sense. They know folks read Qs quick, and select the first answer that makes sense, and they will take full advantage of that to trick you.
-If you are testing at home, use a fan/white noise machine/air filter is one is available to you. It helps your brain focus, and prevents you getting distracted by roomates/people on the street/etc.
-Do a lot of practice tests. Especially with the reading section. The NurseHub and Mometrix online practice tests taught me a lot of random stuff that showed up on the TEAS. For ex: a common Q is what the tone of the passage is--and (unbeknownst to me)- if words like "we" and "us" are used, it is pretty much automatically considered an empathetic tone, no matter how much other tones might fit. Another is "how can we best adjust this passage to fit diverse audiences"--which I assumed meant "take out super complicated words and medical terms so a normal person could understand--since a diverse audience has folks from all backgrounds, and this text is super technical". That is not what they mean at all. They mean make it as politically correct as humanely possible,--keep the super complicated medical terms. There are a lot of random things like that in the reading section.
Topics I noticed HEAVILY on the TEAS test, that you MUST know:
-75% of the math questions involved knowing how to do: "what percent of ____ is _____"
and "___ is what % of x". 75% I kid you not. Know how to do this, inside out, backwards and forwards.
-The math section was heavy on word problems, practice these so you feel confident. Do not only practice Qs that give you numbers. Practice scenario-based math Qs.
-Adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions. Even if you think you know this, practice so you are fast and confident.
-I cannot stress enough how much you must know how to convert between fractions, decimals, and percentages. 80% of the math Qs involved this as a step. Even if you think you know this, practice so you are fast and confident. Being fast on the "small stuff" = more time for Qs that you don't know
-Suffixes were featured heavily on the English section, 4-5 Qs out of the 32-something questions. Make sure you know what they are, how to identify them, and some meanings of common ones.
-Know what "past present" and "present perfect" tenses are. These weren't on practice tests but were littered throughout the English section.
-Mean, median, mode, and range. 90% of the people I know got a Q involving this on their TEAS.
-Know conversions from metric to US measurements. They won't usually give you the conversion (which is stupid). Almost everybody gets 1-2 conversion Qs. I memorized: Fahrenheit to Celsius, and Celsius to Fahrenheit (on test). How many mL in a liter. How many lb is a kg. How many feet in a yard. How many CM in an inch. How many miles in a Km. How many milimeters in a meter. How many oz in a lb. How many Ft in a mile. How many pints vs quarts in a gallon? How many cups is 1 gallon? 1 liter is how many quarts?
I didn't encounter a single conversion I didn't know.
PRACTICE YOUR CONVERSIONS!! Being quick on small stuff = more time for the hard problems!
