2024.05.20 06:55 Trazlynn My first succulent, advice needed!
This is my new jelly bean plant, Jelly! I picked it from a bunch of others at the store to be my first succulent experience. I have a bag of miracle grow brand perlite and a bag of miracle grow brand cactus soil. I was wondering how I go about combining these to make the perfect soil blend for succulents. For now I just mixed a good amount of the perlite into the soil and mixed it really well. Is there a certain amount of each I should use like a 1-2 part soil 1 part perlite? I want to learn so much about succulents so one day I can trust myself with a hanging basket donkey tail! submitted by Trazlynn to succulents [link] [comments] |

2024.05.20 06:13 cauliflower-rice Rubber plant?
I got this succulent garden from Trader Joe’s. My plant ID app called this one a baby rubber plant (peperomia obtusifolia). But it doesn’t look like any of the pictures I see when I google that plant. Is this just what they look like when they’re very small or is it something else? Thanks! submitted by cauliflower-rice to houseplants [link] [comments] |
2024.05.20 05:28 jelly3bean What's going on with my succulent?
The succulent is growing a long stem and a mini succulent on top. The base succulent looks healthy still. submitted by jelly3bean to succulents [link] [comments] I got this as a gift and I'm trying to not let it die. What's going on here and how can I make sure the plant stays healthy? |

2024.05.20 04:53 Tazza107 Another one of my Dioscorea. Elephantipes that looks nothing like my other Dioscorea. I call this one aka " Lumpy " lol :)
Here is another one of my Dioscorea.elephantipes, as it's nodules protrude alot more than my other Dioscorea. Its funny how they can vary in looks, where one has that elephant skin texture and a lot smoother and this one is like a mountain terrain, like a scene out of the wild west of Arizona. The other Dioscorea was purchased from a grower 20 yrs ago, and it was the size of a baseball. He grew it from his own seed stock, and this gentleman has been growing cacti and succulents for well over 50 yrs. But this Dioscorea was purchased roughly the same time as my 20yro plant from a nursery, but this one was the size of a golf ball. I love look off both of them as the are unique in their own way. One day I'll get some seeds of a Dioscorea. mexicana as they look quite similar. submitted by Tazza107 to cactusandsucculents [link] [comments] If anyone has seeds of D.mexicana and they would like to do a seed swap for my D.elephantipes. Hit me up in the chat. :) |
2024.05.20 04:04 DreamsInNe0n Please help me save my Agave plant!
I impulse bought this Agave plant on clearance in hopes I can save her. I’m a n00b at succulents. submitted by DreamsInNe0n to succulents [link] [comments] 1.) Can anyone diagnose the issues going on (aside from it being root bound) and if she’s able to make a recovery? 2.) Any guidance on the steps I need to take before & after re-potting to give her the best chance to thrive? Any guidance around root care, cutting leaves/root ball, pest treatment, soil amendments/ratios for having the best chance at recovery would be greatly appreciated. Additional background info: • Plant: Agave ‘Blue’ • Hardiness Zone: 8a (GA) • Current pot size: 3 gal • See nursery card pic for additional info • Nursery said it’s not diseased but was overwatered due to rain, its location changed and it needs a bigger pot. Idk how much of that is true. Def needs to be repotted. • I plan to repot into a 15 gallon grow bag with Pro-Mix BX Mycorrhizae + some sand. • I can place it in full sun or whatever is recommended here. Thank you 🙏🏽! |

2024.05.20 01:39 ConversationJaded541 wanted to share my kitchen window
this is one of my favorite spots in the house! this window did not come with a shelf, my lovely husband built this window and shelf from scratch! if anyone has any advice or tips for any of these plants, please feel free! i'm sorry they aren't all succulents. i think of this window as partial light, since the gazebo/canopy right outside the window blocks some of the light, and i can close the blinds. does that sound right? submitted by ConversationJaded541 to succulents [link] [comments] |
2024.05.20 01:19 Zealousideal_Fun8848 Haworthia
Recieved this guy a week ago. First Haworthia really I'm a cacti person. submitted by Zealousideal_Fun8848 to succulents [link] [comments] It was already discoloured to a degree but I didn't know it was quietly getting worse at high pace. It was in shipment from Thailand for 2-3 weeks and not recieved water in the last week it's been with me. I thought it was alright. Not the best at implementing a good quarantine routine and this was amongst my collection. I thought I was being slow with acclimateing to light. Mostly under a grow light on lowest setting on and off. but maybe not so it could be elements of sun burn and dehydration. However I think another thing is present. Fungal infection / maybe even root mealies. Unexplainable white powdery// ¬> I've never dealt with either majorly the latter none at all. And ofc I don't really know how this kind of windowed Haworthia signal stress and discomfort however it was just too close to another newly sent small cacti. I can read them better then succulents and ik it came totally healthy however since being around the Haworthia it's developed a fungle type of issue. Pls help me confirm something I have some plans on how to proceed with the plant. A gentle mix of stuff like hydrogen peroxide, diatomaceous earth, soap, starkle g, and a fungicide powder I'm testing on another plant as of now. First step being rehydration if you think the plant can take it. Thankyou all |
2024.05.20 01:12 csharpkid Ideas for Front Yard
I am helping a friend with her yard. I am great with designing yards to grow food and can help her with that. But for the front yard she wants to have the front yard with flowers, year around greenery. submitted by csharpkid to landscaping [link] [comments] Also, she loves arches. She is in San Francisco Bay Area in California. Here are the pictures of the two areas in the front yard, right and left of the house entrance. I have three questions for you: 1. Do you have any opinions or suggestions? If you have pictures of your front yard that might help, I would highly appreciate it if you post them.
As far as my thoughts: I love wildflowers. A few hydrangeas, hostas at the corners, then I would drop wildflower seeds to fill up the gaps, add some colorful succulents to add year around colors. Some yellow and white roses, chrysanthemum, daffodils, tulip bulbs.. The area on the left side is 07.5 ft W * 13.5 ft L The right side: Angular 10.5 L * 6" W Straight 7.5 L * 10.5 W I appreciate your help in advance. Thank you. |
2024.05.20 00:54 Fancy_Gate3441 What plant do I have?

2024.05.20 00:30 DwightDEisenmeower Bamboo getting tall … is that fine?
This is probably going to sound like a silly question. I have had this bamboo for a couple of years. He has been very low maintenance and, as you can see by the height, seems to be thriving. submitted by DwightDEisenmeower to houseplants [link] [comments] I’ve never had a bamboo before so I’m wondering … do I just let him keep growing? At some point will the nodule at the top get too heavy for the original plant? Should I trim and/or propagate? I guess I’m wondering if this might be similar to a succulent stretching and whether I need to intervene or just let the boy keep stretching. |
2024.05.20 00:23 Intotheuniverse31 What are these white roots sprouting out of the succulent? Also confirm ID?
Over the last couple days, about 5 days after watering, this succulent sprouted about five of these white roots around the plant. Is this a positive or negative reaction? Is this a Kalanchoe? What kind if so? submitted by Intotheuniverse31 to succulents [link] [comments] |
2024.05.20 00:09 MlyMe Please help me save Deano
I typed this whole thing out and it didn’t save so I’m going to try to get all the details in. submitted by MlyMe to succulents [link] [comments] I’ve had this succulent for almost three years. He was really struggling for a while in my apartment and a third of him died but in the past year, we’ve been in our house and he’s done really well. He’s loved the south facing window and has more than doubled in size. I feel like I got a really good handle on recognizing when he was overwatered and got into a good habit of watering him when he gets wrinkled. His success gave me confidence and I have two other succulents, a Christmas cactus and an aloe plant (that is definitely dying). But in the past week I’m not sure how to help him. He looks wrinkled up top but the leaves on the bottom look over saturated. I don’t want to over water him but he has looked so thirsty up in his higher branches. I’d appreciate any help you guys can offer. Including a picture from last year when we moved in so you can see how great he’s done this year! Thanks so much |
2024.05.19 23:37 MlyMe I’m a terrible plant parent - please help
I just replanted him today. I had another succulent struggling so I thought maybe a bigger pot for both. I’m going to put him further away from the rest of my plants but I’ll leave him on the side of the house that gets basically full sun all day. I water rarely and in small amounts. I honestly don’t know what I’m doing to him. submitted by MlyMe to houseplants [link] [comments] Thanks! |

2024.05.19 23:21 bechingona How did I do as a newbie?
Picked this baby up yesterday with literally no experience (and little experience with anything other than succulents and a monstera). It's planted in a mix if tropical plant soil, bark, and perlite. I made the moss pole with sphagnum moss. The roots were pretty dense when I repotted it and I think maybe there were multiple plants in there? I live in the desert and am worried about humidity. How do I combat the dryness without getting a humidifier? It's also about 3 or so feet from a south facing window, but light is filtered through a large tree in the yard. Did I set my first philodendron up for success? submitted by bechingona to philodendron [link] [comments] |

2024.05.19 23:01 Objective_Ad3193 ID succulent
I got this rosette succulent years ago, and unfortunately it suddenly died too quickly for me to prop it. It was very prolific, and in the picture you can see it had a trailing habit over the side of the pot, and was a very fleshy green, no hints of any other colors on petal extremities. It did not flower. Apologies for the other succulents shown in the same pot - ignore the purple rosettes hidden in there and the string of dolphins submitted by Objective_Ad3193 to PlantIdentification [link] [comments] If I had to guess I picked it up at a big box store like Lowe’s. I’m located in Alabama Reverse image search says Aeonium lily pad, but I’m skeptical. The lily pad petals don’t look as thick, and the lily’s petals curled in from what I can tell, whereas this one would slant inward but each individual petal didn’t curl if that makes sense. Plant id apps say it’s some echeveria - super helpful Help! |
