Warm, fuzzy, sometimes tangled. Due to the holiday season, it may take up to 48 hours for (1) a post to be approved/ reviewed (2) response to modmail/from a moderator. Regarding the API/blackout we're open again but also watching, listening, thinking hard. Whatever happens needs to happen thoughtfully. Please keep being excellent to each other.

2024.06.01 09:28 Neither_Ground_1921 New vendor/artist seeking feedback!

New vendoartist seeking feedback!
On a complete whim and leap of faith, I’m actually following thru on one of those “crazy stupid ideas” we have every day but never do anything with. Well not this time. I, along with my 19 year old daughter, will be vendors here https://www.cannafestohio.com/ in a couple of months! 😀
I’m taking a chance same at letting my creative side bring home the bacon for a while- the corporate side has done great but I’m going to end up soulless soon- i need more love and joy in my life!
Here are the things we’re planning to sell: * Bucket hats - reversible pattern/black, with little stash pockets and buttonholes for the furry clips ears. I’m buying and customising but can also do custom, and hope to have a mix of both if there’s time. Planning to sell for between $35 and $65 depending on what alls been done. * original artwork punch-needle pillows created by my daughter. (She is embarking on an artist life path). * mini selenite wands with wire-weaving of chakra gems down the length (i thought these might be a good souvenir? See if i can add the festival logo or something) * lithographs of some of her original other original art.
I know these aren’t going to appeal to everyone but give us some feedback on our “product line”.
What are some things you’d like to see more of at festivals? What would you do to make your bucket hat even cooler?
TIA!

2024.06.01 07:16 pink-faerie Crochet ant pattern???

I’m looking for a crochet ant pattern, preferably a tutorial as amigurumi isnt my forte. The ones i found on yt are honestly pretty lame, i want a sort of normal looking ant, not a bipedal ant wearing a straw hat holding a brief case 😂

2024.06.01 05:56 Fickle-Syllabub6730 Why do you think we as gamers get so excited by easter eggs and figuring out deep logic and branching paths of games?

I won't include spoilers in here. But I recently finished The Talos Principle. There's an insignificant mechanic where in some puzzle areas you can find a paint bucket and "use" it on a wall, and you get a choice of some prewritten phrases to write. I found here that the phrases you have available actually are determined by the way you played the game:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2514467238
I got every achievement in the game, and I had no idea. I got a rush of appreciation for the developers. Of "wow, there was this logic and tracking happening beneath the surface that I had no idea about". But at the same time, I feel a frustration. If I didn't look this up, I never would have realized that.
I think of this in other contexts. Take games like Fallout: New Vegas. Its branching dialogue paths are legendary in the gaming community. If you went to this town before meeting this character, then did this quest after accepting this other quest and finished it in that way, and have a specific companion and are wearing a hat and have a skill over 70 in Small Guns, then you get this specific dialogue option that can end this quest in a unique way!
Again, I appreciate it, but it feels weird. If I were to look up my options before doing that, I'd spoil myself. On my first playthrough of the game, I have no idea if the dialogue options I'm seeing are just standard Zelda game options, or if each choice actually has some ridiculously deep logic underneath it. If I play the game 50 times, I probably still wouldn't be able to piece all the conditional logic together. Some people say they're able to feel like their playthrough was their own, but I never feel that way.
One last example is Halo skulls. They are hidden in absurd parts of the environment. No reasonable person would ever find one. Yet when I play a new Halo game, I do want to get those achievements and I seek the videos that show the tiny crevices on ceilings which hide these skulls and think "Damn, they really thought to put something here, huh".
In the end, I find the most satisfaction by playing the game once, and then reading the wiki about all the other options I could have taken. I enjoy reading about all this stuff, like how in MGS2, the color of your VR mission background is the time of day of your system clock. But part of me feels like making these features this obscure is kind of defeating the purpose. It feels weird having these "aha" moments while reading a sterile wiki, like I'm reading a report on the game, rather than having the "aha" moment in the game. But at the same time, this stuff is so well hidden that no one would know it.
Just by reading this subreddit, we are all in the top 5% of engaged, active gamers. And most of us probably would not find these features and hidden items ourselves. But if there's a clever Easter Egg, it delights gamers like us, and it shows up as the top comment in any discussion about that game. It's really the 0.001% that strip these games from top to bottom, so the 1-5% of us can read their findings on a wiki, and the 95% of people who play games don't care the slightest bit. Something about that whole pattern amuses, delights and confounds me.
What do you think?

2024.06.01 02:30 Few_Confection_8191 Review of Sama Nete (Ayahuasca with Celinda)

Last year (21 August to 4 October 2023) I did a retreat at “Ayahuasca with Celinda” which was recently renamed to Sama Nete. I’ve tried to cover the practical aspects in my review, but if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me :) (however I'll be heading off to this retreat again in a few days! So I might not be able to reply until I'm back in a month or so)
This review based on my time and my observations at this retreat. I’ve tried to keep most of this factual, however it is also just my opinion at the end of the day.
Cost:
It cost me $1750USD per month (this may be subject to change as they enhance their facilities).
Getting there:
The retreat is located in San Francisco, Peru. I flew into Pucallpa airport and the facilitator (Nathan) met me at the airport. The drive in the taxi on the “roads” was more intense than any 4WD-ing I’ve ever done, which I enjoyed a lot, but maybe some people won’t like it. I can see how it could make some people nauseated.
Your room:
Accommodation is rustic (i.e. bats, bugs, spiders, etc live in the “ceiling” which is made from leaves), but clean.
They are still in the process of furnishing rooms, so each room’s contents varied slightly. All rooms (as at October 2023) had at a minimum:
My room had the minimum, however other rooms had some additional things such as:
Hammock Shelves Cupboard Bench seat Little logs for stools
Facilities:
My understanding is that because they’re a new retreat, they’re enhancing their facilities with each guest, so this is just based on when I was there (21 August to 4 October 2023):
You are in town BUT you are in the jungle. There are spiders and bugs that will come to visit you. I went into this trip with a genuine phobia of spiders and a fairly dramatic fear of certain insects like bees, wasps, centipedes etc. My comfort levels have improved but I’m not free from fear – for example. I can now stay in the shower if a spider or scary insect comes to visit (I watch it the whole time lol but I don’t run out screaming).
Wild chickens wander the yard and they really brightened my days. However, the roosters cock-a-doodle-do all day and night which really bothered some other guests, I didn’t really mind though. What I did find a bit annoying/disruptive though was constant loud speaker announcements from the town, I think they were excessive during the time I was there because it was leading up to the celebrations for the anniversary of San Fransisco (the town). Sometimes you could smell burning rubbish (which mainly smells like burning plastic). And the other disruption was that there were a few interruptions to water being available for showers (we never ran out of drinking water), but this is not common, there was a problem with the town’s water while I was there.
The biggest issue for me was being bitten excessively by bugs. Some things that may bother other guests would be the constant noise (frequent announcements over speaker from town, lots of loud or gentle music (especially Saturday nights), dogs barking all night, roosters cock-a-doodle-dooing all night), quite a bit of light at night (I think a kitchen light is left on so people can find the toilets in the night), and of course the monotony of dieta food (but Nathan did a pretty good job at coming up with some creative variations like potato soup, boiled vs scrambled eggs, etc).
Meals:
You’re provided 3 meals a day on non-ceremony days and 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) on ceremony days
Meals consist of:
Whole small fish Unripe plantains Eggs Lentils Rice Carrots Potatoes Squash Celery and cabbage as a bit of a garnish Optional teas
Although the meals were bland and repetitive, I quite enjoyed them and the boiled medley of beetroot, carrot and celery was so delicious to me that I’ve made it since coming home lol. Personally it wasn’t until about week 4 that I got bored of the repetition but I also think that’s kind of the point, to become detached to the joy of waiting for your meal etc. TMI but I did have some constipation and Celinda had an oily concoction to remedy that which was effective for me :)
Ceremonies:
There are 3 ceremonies a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday (drink once at the beginning, I’ve read about other retreats where you drink several times).
There was not a formal schedule for discussion after ceremonies, it was done ad hoc with each individual guest as needed (I mostly had ceremonies where I didn’t feel the need any interpretation). There also wasn’t any formal “pre-discussion” or sharing group to discuss your intentions, something else that I had read about for other retreats.
The dieta goes something like this:
Other notes:
Things I wish I had packed the first time:

2024.06.01 01:12 Sweet-Count2557 The Morocco Weather In June 2024

The Morocco Weather In June 2024
The Morocco Weather In June 2024
We’re here to tell you all about Morocco in June! Whether you’re planning a vacation or just curious about the weather, this article will give you all the info you need.
June is a great time to visit Morocco as the temperatures are mild and the days are long, making it the perfect time to explore the country and all it has to offer.
From average temperatures to the best activities, we’ve got you covered. Read on to find out what to expect in Morocco Weather In June!!!
Average Temperatures
In June, temps tend to soar, so pack accordingly! With temperatures reaching up to 100°F, it's essential to select the right clothing and accessories for your trip to Morocco.
It's highly recommended to bring light, breathable clothing such as t-shirts, shorts, and skirts. Other items to consider packing are sunglasses, a hat, and a lightweight, long-sleeve cover-up for the cooler evenings.
When packing for Morocco in June, it's important to be prepared for the heat and the sun. Sunscreen and a good pair of sunglasses should be on your packing list. It's also a good idea to bring a hat or a bandana, which can be used to shield your face from the sun during those hot days.
Additionally, it's important to stay hydrated, so carry a water bottle with you wherever you go.
As Morocco can be quite hot in June, it's important to dress in lightweight and breathable fabrics. Cotton and linen are the best options for keeping cool, as they absorb sweat and are less likely to stick to your skin. Avoid dark colors, which will absorb more heat, and stick to lighter shades and breathable fabrics.
With the right clothing and accessories, you'll stay comfortable and enjoy your trip to Morocco.
Sunlight
You'll be basking in the sun in June - it's a sun worshipper's paradise! With an average of 10 hours of sunshine a day, Morocco is a great place to soak up some rays and get a natural tan.
The early mornings of June are particularly beautiful, with the sun rising early and the sky turning a soft pink and orange. However, it's important to be aware of the potential dangers of the sun and make sure you have plenty of sunscreen protection to avoid sunburn.
The intensity of the sun in Morocco can be quite strong, especially in the height of summer, and so it's important to be mindful of your exposure to it. Mid-day is the hottest time of the day, and so if you're planning to spend a long period of time outdoors it's best to do so earlier or later in the day when the sun isn't at its most powerful.

2024.05.31 23:35 looplox The Raifee Wood Ranger Guide: Entry 40, The Strawberry Fête

Can you hear that? It sounds like the Strawberry Fête has been set up in the usual spot by the central lake. I imagine they’ll be there for a few days so you should all visit when you can. The sooner the better, however. Keep an eye on the cloche.” - Mabel
The start of summer is a strange time in Raifee Wood. Just as the dour and deadly creatures of the colder months retreat (or at least settle down a little), the more mischievous beings of the warmer months begin to rear their heads. The Strawberry Fête is one such group, making two visits each year: Once near the end of May and another at the end of July. While the exact day of their arrival is never consistent, you’ll know when they’re here- the raucous music can be heard throughout the forest. They’ll linger in the woods for a few days before vanishing, so if you choose to visit, it is best to go as soon as possible.
For once, you have a choice of whether you wish to expose yourself to the potential dangers of the fête. It is entirely self-sufficient so Mabel does not have any tasks for us to do for them. The only reason to go is to trade: While the opportunity is valuable, you must evaluate the risk yourself.
Before visiting the Strawberry Fête, consider what you are willing to trade. For some of the more unusual items, you will need specific things, but also consider bringing the following to trade for standard goods:
In addition to your trade items, find the red basket in the supply closet and grab one of the cords inside it. If there aren’t any left, wait until someone returns- you must not enter the Fête without one.
  1. The Strawberry Fête takes place next to the central lake of Raifee Wood. The fête is quite noisy, but you will not be able to see it. Locate the petrified stump on the lake’s border. Next to it, you should see a small circle of rocks- this is the location of the Strawberry Fête. Do not touch the circle or step into it until you are ready.
  2. There is a branch on the petrified stump which you should knot the cord tightly to. Tie the other end around your wrist. We are not 100% certain what the cords are, but after examining one, Natalia compared it to an umbilical cord specimen she saw during her nursing course. We’ve decided that we shouldn’t ask Mabel about them- we'd rather not know. Whatever they are, they're a crucial tether to the mortal world and without being tied to one, you won’t be able to leave the Strawberry Fête.
  3. When you’re ready, jump into the circle. Ensure you don’t fall over and that both of your legs enter the circle at once. If you try to step into it or stumble and land only partially in the circle, part of your body will be ripped into the Fête while the rest remains in the Wood. I’ve only seen it once before and it’s… gruesome.
  4. When you enter the Fête, you will see a bustling market filled with vendor stalls, a bandstand and a maypole. Everything will be contained within a ring of tall standing stones, much larger than the ones you saw in the wood. Do not stray beyond these stones at any point during your visit. The mist outside has the same quality as the mist surrounding Raifee Wood- it is incredibly corrosive.
  5. The vendors and customers at the Strawberry Fête are the typical sprites you will see flitting around Raifee Wood, although much larger than you will be accustomed to. Usually no taller than a pencil, the ones in the Fête are just a foot or two shorter than the average human. Unfortunately, this makes their unusual features more notable too. Big, expressive eyes look fine when the sprites are small, but up close the way their pupils bulge and dilate is unsettling. The twitchiness of their dragonfly wings and sharp teeth can be unnerving too. Refrain from commenting on these things. Sprites are easily offended and will either refuse to trade with you or make your visit actively difficult if they feel slighted.
  6. While you are walking around the Fête, you will notice that your cord stretches upwards, disappearing from sight. Nobody should mention or bother you about it but do not remove it at any point. A few sprites may try to convince you to untie it: To help you try something on, or for them to hold onto while you dance. Firmly reject these suggestions, even if they seem upset- they know full well what they’re doing. Thankfully, due to our status as rangers, the sprites won’t try to forcefully cut or untie your cord, save for in a specific place. More on that later…
  7. When you arrive, look for a cloche, in the middle of the Fête. Inside, you will see a cluster of strawberries with human faces. Note the appearance of the fruit. As the Fête continues, the berries will degrade, shrivelling as the faces twist into pained expressions. Check on the cloche every 20 minutes or so. It is very easy to lose track of time in the fête, and you do not want to be around when the strawberries are completely rotten.
  8. There are normally several stalls selling food throughout the market. Do not buy or eat anything. While perfectly fine for the sprites, the majority of sprite delicacies cause nasty side-effects for humans or contain ingredients that you don’t want to consume. The pasty vendor is especially pushy, so avoid him. He has a sadistic interest in getting rangers to try his goods claiming that they’re ‘a taste from home’. Fortunately, nobody has tried any of them yet- sprite wordplay is painfully blatant.
  9. Aside from food, many of the stalls will be peddling unusual but useful supplies which can be traded for using the general items listed at the top of the entry. Fertilisers for keeping the cottage’s St John’s Wort healthy, winter furs that pulse warmly as if still alive and plenty of toys and trinkets for entertainment and decoration at the cottage. The important thing is not to accept anything for free, even if the vendor claims that it's a gift. Sprites never give anything away for free and will be keen for you to accept the offer since it gives them the liberty to choose their payment. For example, a former ranger named Clover once accepted a complimentary winter hat from a vendor and lost her scalp. We were able to patch her up, but she didn’t last long after that.
  10. The stall decorated with spider webs sells a lot of useful fabrics. It is worth a visit- the spools of web thread are incredibly durable and can be used to fix garments, while the circles of dried caul membrane can adhere to small injuries and scars to heal them. Avoid red lace, however. The delicate material is composed of veins, and can instantly adhere to your skin like the caul membranes do, even if you so much as brush past it. However, rather than smoothing over or healing wounds and scars, the lace creates sensitive sore spots that throb uncomfortably.
  11. The elderly sprite running the blue tent sells dreams in bottles. For obvious reasons, our line of work can make sleeping difficult so having a guaranteed peaceful rest is very useful. However, the dream vendor will only accept one trade- a dream bottle for a happy memory. You won’t get to choose what memory he takes so this is a bit of a gamble- it could just be a field trip you went on at school but it might also be your mother’s face. The only off-limit thing seems to be our true and false names. If you decide to trade a memory, the sprite will extract it with a long thin hook inserted into your nose. While safe (provided you stay still) I will caution that the sensation of having a memory pulled out is uncomfortable- a bit like a fingernail hooking under a crease in your brain and unpicking it. Thankfully, the procedure has no physical ill effect. Once you’ve paid, take care when selecting your bottle. Each will contain a multi-hued mist and these colours are important. The majority are safe, and will contain peaceful dreams that can be used up to five times- open the bottle and inhale some of the mist before recorking it. However, avoid any bottles with blue or yellow hues. The seller only sells good dreams, but a good dream for a sprite can differ greatly from a good dream for a human. I don’t know about you, but dreaming about eating a newborn child or tormenting an old woman by sticking pins under her fingernails hardly sounds appealing to me.
  12. Avoid the red marquee. While most of the humans being traded in there are very young, the sellers in the tent may try to forcefully cut your cord and sell you off too. The atmosphere in the marquee is very intense and we think that is what emboldens the sprites who hang around in it. The thick material of the tent should muffle most of the noise and smell, but it is best to keep away from it altogether. Trying to disrupt the marquee’s proceedings will likely shatter the social contract which allows us to enter the fête in the first place. Besides, if in theory you did manage to save someone, they couldn’t leave with you- the cords can only lift one person at a time. Better to be bartered, butchered and consumed in one’s sleep than be woken up and forced to choose between an angry mob or the melting mist.
  13. If you require companionship, visit the brightly painted caravan near the bandstand. It sells some useful monsters called umbramites. These small creatures appear as nothing more than a shadow on the nearest surface, unable to interact with anything in the physical realm. However, they are excellent at alerting to unseen dangers, can be sent off to locate missing objects and according to those who do choose to own them, can provide much-needed companionship. Ask Arata or Bea for more information if you are interested. However, life requires an equivalent sacrifice. Alongside a large initial trade of standard goods (the vendor has an affinity for teeth if you have any), the time that your umbramite lasts is determined by how much of your lifespan you’re willing to give up. It can be a few weeks or a few decades. You won’t age physically when the time is taken, but you will feel a distinct sense of heartburn as your lifespan reduces. The trainer who runs the stand will stitch your shadow to the umbramite using a black thread- it dissolves after a few days so you can both move independently. The umbramite will stay loyal to you and last until its allotted lifespan runs out. While lifespan feels like a steep price, it is worth remembering that virtually no rangers ever reach old age- you may as well put those years to use, right?
  14. The twin sisters who own the silver stall offer extractions of all kinds. If you have a rotten tooth, or a stubborn splinter from the Steward, they’ll remove it for a small fee. For a bigger fee, they can also remove more evasive troubles- traumatic memories, heartache and regrets. For this, they have a jar filled with silver leeches. Once attached to the temple, they will extract the unpleasant memory of your choosing with only moderate discomfort. Just be careful not to let them remove any important information about the inhabitants- if you ask them to remove a memory associated with one, re-read their guide entry carefully afterwards.
  15. If you are invited to take part in the maypole ceremony, decline. The young female sprites who usually participate are viciously competitive. If you mess up the pattern they are weaving or look as if you’re showing off they will attack you violently, ranger or not. They’re not above inflicting this treatment on other sprites either- the maypole dance typically ends with at least one casualty.
  16. It is safe to dance within the crowd of revellers at the bandstand, but only on your own or with another ranger. If you dance with one of the sprites, they will become attached to you and follow you around the market obsessively. Furthermore, when it is time to leave, they will cling to you and the extra weight risks breaking your cord. If you do notice another ranger in this predicament, do your best to restrain the sprite so the ranger can leave quickly. Ignore the whining and sobbing, sprites are fickle and they would quickly lose interest in you even if you stayed with them in the market. Once discarded, the merchants of the red marquee would likely pick you off.
  17. As mentioned previously, you must be careful to monitor your time in the market closely. Time passes at an uneven pace: An hour can feel as short as ten minutes or as long as a day. To be safe, you should leave when the larger strawberries begin to cave in and darken, if not before. From what Mabel has told us, once the strawberries have fully decayed the market shifts location, severing your cord and leaving you at the mercy of the merchants.
  18. To leave the market, make sure that everything you have with you is securely packed away in your buttoned pockets or rucksack. Loop both of your hands into the cord securely and pull yourself up. When you are around a meter or two off the ground, the cord will retract sharply, pulling you up and out of the Strawberry Fête. The force will normally fling you clean from the circle, so be prepared for a rough landing.
  19. Once resurfaced, untie the cord and check your inventory thoroughly, including all the linings and pockets of your clothes. On occasion, one of the sprites will sneak an extra unpaid good into your pockets before you leave. If you are concerned that you might not be able to keep track of your inventory, bring a list, including everything you brought in and purchased. If you do find something, throw it into the circle before you leave. If kept, the sprite will find you on your next visit and as mentioned before, take whatever payment they feel entitled to. It won’t be a fair trade.

2024.05.31 19:37 Toucan_Trolley Classic Never Goes Away II

Classic Never Goes Away II
A rather dreary, bleary, and all round grim day, but that doesn’t stop a man from exploring the local jaunts and haunts. As such, it was off west to observe a palace and its surrounding grounds.
I happened upon cats, ducks, and fruits mere weeks away from the local market. All in all, it was rather a fun experience.
To make it even better, I thought to build a preppy ensemble in preparation for the winds and rain for your entertainment.
Coat: Polo Ralph Lauren
I simply can’t get enough of madras. Such a classic prep pattern and it was put together with such care by the good folks at Ralph Lauren. For quite some time, I was in two minds about this coat. Do I keep it? Do I sell it? Today was the maiden voyage and I’ve decided it’s a keeper. Even better that it’s 100% Cotton.
Blazer: Ermenegildo Zegna
The Navy blazer is a classic staple. Heck, there’s even a whole subreddit dedicated to it. This example is a travel cloth which is brilliant for summer due to its light weight and ability to bounce back from creasing. Even better that it’s fully canvassed. ‘Twas also a candidate for sale, but I pulled it out, tried it on again, and said, ‘Yeah.’
Funnily enough, the button popped clean off after taking the first photo. I heard it clang on the ground. But not to worry, re-attached with a linen thread and it won’t be going anywhere any time soon. Perhaps I’ll convert all of them to brass in time.
Chinos: Polo Ralph Lauren
The classic Ralph chinos are always a brilliant choice. Wide leg, pleats, thick cotton with a brilliant hang. Just as chinos were meant to be. If you’re searching, keep an eye out for ‘Andrew’ and ‘Suffield’. They’re the best ones, but I don’t think they make them anymore.
Shirt: Eton
Never had much experience with this brand, but I’ve come to the conclusion that their shirts are solid. I wouldn’t pay retail for them, but if you can thrift it, go for it. Seen here in a lovely white, blue, and navy grid. Just some additional visual intrigue.
Vest: Polo Ralph Lauren
Still one of the best in the game when it comes to the art of the vest. Pure cotton here and as such, the moths can dream on.
Tie: Vintage St. Michael
Well, you have to pull it all together with something. Bring in the navy of the blazer, the red of the glasses, the yellow on the vest, and the cream/beige of the trousers.
Watch: Longines Hydroconquest 43mm Automatic Sunray Blue
Love this piece. Can never go wrong with an auto diver. Such a versatile style of sports watch that can fit so many outfits and settings.
Shoes: Crockett & Jones
Keep it English and you won’t regret it, but if you stray then I’ll have to say, ‘Nay!’ Single monk. Supremely comfortable and versatile. So easy to dress up or down.
Socks: Pantherella
Knee high, boyo. As it should be. Socks falling down? Never me.
Glasses: Cubitts
Love this brand. Pretty funky, pretty 70s, pretty cool. Acetate frames as they were meant to be.
Hat: Bates
Can’t go wrong with a black and white houndstooth in pure wool. Kept the noggin warm as the wind and rain came with a fury at various points of the day.
And after all that, what else can I say? Simply put: Classic Never Goes Away

2024.05.31 18:12 tookielove Christmas snowman scarf

Christmas snowman scarf
I made this for my mom when she wanted a scarf to match her sweater for a Christmas party. If you wanted it to just be for winter instead of Christmas, change his hat color to whatever you love and leave the holly off of it. I didn't have a pattern for this. I just used corner to corner and made up the eyes and mouth with basic circles. I recall that it took some trial and error on the sizes and placement so it would all fit. The carrot nose was just a triangle pattern that I went rogue on to get the shape I wanted. I'm posting Christmas things in May so if anyone wants to make these as gifts, you have time to complete them. Mom said she has so many compliments on this scarf every time she wears it. For this reason, I think it would be a really great gift. I used sparky yarn for the red and I think it's a nice touch. Several brands of yarn have sparkles in all sorts of colors if you decide that the Christmas red is restricting its use to just a little bit of the year. Where I live, it's sometimes not even cold enough for a scarf on Christmas Day! If I'd made it for myself, I would have chosen an icy blue yarn with sparkles. Or periwinkle because it's a fun color to sat and it's pretty. If you have questions about the construction of this scarf, feel free to ask! I'm always happy to help!

This is a strong message from the angels because the numbers are appearing twice. Maybe you didn’t paid enough attention to the previous signs you where getting. So this is your final chance to reveal the mystery behind it before it will go away and you will never see it again. There is a great opportunity that is waiting to be revealed.
Angel number 2: in numerology this number represents equilibrium in your life. You might have a quiet daily routine which is very good for you, there are no bad surprise or negative influences. However sometimes it might get boring to do the same old things everyday. The message of number two is telling you to have more fun, break the mundane course of life from time to time. For example go on vacation, travel in other destination and basically have new excitements to spice up your life.
However you should be very careful not to break the harmony. If you will go too wild you will be out of balance and it might have negative implications. You could end up in troubles that will change your life forever in a bad manner. Use your intuitions and brain to separate the good from the evil and you will be just fine. Don’t let the fear from the unknown to prevent you from achieving your life’s dreams, wishes and goals.
Angel number 4: is about working hard. Yes, if you want to be successful in your career you have to take it seriously. The road to success is usually very simply if you follow the basic principles:

It is very crucial to make the right decision before you invest time and money in a certain life path. Also make sure you choose something that interesting you but also that is paying a nice amount of money. Remember angel number 2? You should balance those preferences if you want to be happy and wealthy as well.
The next step is to get formal education, gaining experience and climbing at the cooperate ladder. It usually takes lots of time and you will have to be very patience until results start to come. Number four symbolizes the hard times which are a head of you, don’t let it to discourage you.

However, don’t neglect other areas in life, keep in mind that there are other important things in life other than chasing the dream.
Another symbolism of the specific angel number is a long way which you have to go. The numbers 2 and 4 are relatively small on the scale of 0 to 10. So the timing position is relatively in the beginning. Sometimes it might be overwhelming to realize how much challenges are in front of us. If we will manage to do it successfully, than we will be rewarded in this life but also in the afterlife.
Not everything yield instant gratification and in most cases we are not being aware of the reward. Furthermore the possibility of something good or positive to transpire is very high if you keep on the elevated vibration and an open mind. That said the angel want you to open your communication on another level. The spirit world is operated on energies and not on logic and analytics.
And yet there are many recommended exercises and techniques to help you to understand and be closer to the target. For example lucid dreaming, astrology, talking to psychics and reading books about divination and fortune telling. It doesn’t matter which psychic root you choose, and you don’t have to be the best mystical person in the world, just to be more connected from an energy perspective.
The angels sent you the number 2442 because they want to help you be more spiritual. One of the best ways is to be less depended on technology and material objects. Go back to simple life. If you have clothes or any other items that are no longer needed through them away or give them to charity. Avoid continue being friends with those who don’t spread good energy. Eat healthy food and spend more time at nature, it will make you less stress and tired. It is also a good exercise to do some gardening and other natural handcrafts as carpentry and sewing.
Volunteering is another way to increase your spirituality. Not only you will get the chance to do something meaningful and help to those who really need it, but it is the fastest way to generate good karma. By give aid of any source you are actually helping yourself. The good deeds will come back to you in one way or another. You will suddenly feel very lucky and will have good temper.
By helping others you become an angel and the cycle is closed. 2442 is a mirror number because it’s assembled from 24 at the start and 42 in the end. It gives us the clue that you are supposed to be a reflection of the angels` mission. So if you want to be or have something give it to others. It sounds counter intuitive and maybe confusion a little bit, but give it a chance, you have nothing to loose and the whole world to gain.
One more spiritual meaning of 2442 angel number is to build a believe system on a stable ground. Spiritual development is not a trend, on the contrary it has lots of philosophy, meaning and actual implications. It can be boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife. If you or your partner is somehow connected to this number, than it reveals a tendency to be the perfect lover.
However there are some caveats with high emotional persons. They tend to be offended very quickly and sometimes without any warning, a sudden sad temper is coming and you don’t have too much what to do about it. They are also easy to manipulate because they are good individuals and trust everyone as second nature.
Number 2 denotes long term relationship, and to be more precise, the angels reveal through number 2422 that the relationship is going to become much deeper. As a sensitive person it is very difficult for you to be far away from the people you love including friends and family. You can not imagine your life far away from those people. People who were born with number 4 in their spiritual path are holding secrets, they are not very opened and generally are not interested in short term relationships. Their mood is sway frequently and you will never know what is on their mind. Furthermore they will not follow rules as a default, they more concern about their needs rather than the others. In general they are takers and not givers. So if you want a mutual beneficial partnership you will not find it with them. It will be very difficult for you to build a valid love relationship.
Therefore 2442 angel number encourages you to decide as soon as possible what kind of love relationship you want to have. After you will make the final ruling, the angels will be able to work on making your wish come truth.
2442 angel number twin flame

If you met a twin flame than it is your fate, the universe is never wrong, it brings up people into our life because we have to be together. It is not only about us but there is a broader scope which is linked to more factors here on earth.
Therefore if you encounter some difficulties in a relationship or love, don’t hurry to break up or getting a divorce. Do everything which is required to save it. Don’t go back to the old days where you have searched endlessly for a soulmate. Now that you have found it the mission is to cherish it, when it comes to destiny there is no second chance.
Not every person in a relationship is a twin flame, so if you are getting angel number 2442 but you feel that something is missing, than the individual you are with is not your twin flame. So the interpretation is to leave him or her, don’t waste time and energy in the wrong correspondence and let them go, because sooner or later it will happen by itself.

Just relax and let the angels bring the special person to your circle. However you have to do one little thing if you truly want it to happen – be ready. Sometime we are too occupied with other things like job, money and family, that we forget there are more things on life other the daily duties.
So in the next few days or months, try to spot the opportunity, a twin flame can be someone new who is entering into your life, but it might also be someone you already know and share common interests with. In numerology repeating numbers like: 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, and 99 signifies a couple, mirror reflection, double message and twin flames. 2024.05.31 15:51 You-See-Nothing583 Hello, again.

Hello, again.
Your orb flickers off and on, interrupting your call or your show. It flickers between shows, apps, ads and everything else. It repeats this pattern over and over. Suddenly the orb flicks on but it doesn't flicker off.
A voice cuts through the static of the noise.
"Hello, my beautiful and bountiful viewers. It appears the election season is once again apon on us like syrup apon your pancakes in the morning. In more ways then one, some of you hate it, some of you love it, some of you feed off of the candidates like a cancer, and some of you reject the elections and hide away like a young child running from their problems, hoping that they might escape it but as the problems always come back, so does the election season."
The voice is same as it always has been, for it speaks with no emotion, no fear, and no energy, for it is monotone and yet unique to the clone.
"So, voters, viewers, and the victims of this apparent popularity contest. Who should you choose? Who should you vote for? Who shall the populace chose? Who shall they parade around on posters, stickers, ads on the orb net?"
The orb flickers between all the potential candidates, each one with some form of criticism drawn on their ads, posters and appearances, all except one. The poster of a tall man, top hat held onto his stary hair, the eyes of the galaxy that pears through the orb. H.P Sunoms. The static haze over the orb remains.
"Who is brave enough to tackle the grid locked politics of the council? Who is brave enough to face the problems of the general public? Who is to stand up for the ones who think they don't matter? That, my dear viewers, voters and victims is me."
The orb flickers to a tall pale man, no hair, no eyes, no nose, no discernable features except his pale white skin, a needle teeth filled mouth that stretches from missing ear to missing ear.
"But, what will you run on Torinn? What problems do you promise to tackle? The problems that I don't promise to tackle, but plan to, and will tackle, are the unfair laws on the Eldritch, the unfair tax brackets, and the unfair laws that seem to only apply to the poor and not the rich. That is what I will run on."
The static eventually disappears bit by bit, pixel by pixel.
"Aren't you already a Councillor? That is what many of you are thinking. My answer is No. No, I am not a Councillor, although I was unfairly given the option despite my democratic loss. I turned it down. I turned down the council position because it wad unfair. Unfair on the voters, unfair on the people who went through the elections and won, unfair on those who went through the elections and lost. If I want to be a Councillor, I want to do it fairly, by being elected. I will only be a Councillor if I am elected to the position, and only if I am elected by you. You, my voters, viewers and victims."
"You will here more from me. Eat the rich, devour the unfair taxes, and Vote Torinn."
*the orb flickers off."
/uw I'm running again.

2024.05.31 14:38 Theeaglestrikes The Last Guard of Earth (Part II)

Part I - Part II - Part III - Part IV
“We should run, Benny,” I said. “It would be easy.”
As the crowd of possessed people flowed forwards, I looked into the eyes of my year-old golden Labrador — eyes weathered by the longest twelve months of our lives. I tried to spare Benny from the hardships of my life. However, whenever I left him with Fernsby, he was inconsolable. Only being by my side seemed to steady his restless, fragile disposition.
The Labrador bared his canines. White, drooling tips encrusted with cobalt. Given that he was so determined to cling to me, no matter the dangers I faced, I had to give him the tools to defend himself.
We faced a mountainous being, built of dirt and bedrock, at the edge of an empty town. A creature that had transfixed the townsfolk — leading them into the pit of its cavernous mouth. A cataclysmic horror unfit for human eyes. Though mine, burdened with the sight of the Oath, seemed uninfluenced by the terror.
A long road led me to that haunted town.
On the night of Evie's death, I was lost. Unsure what to do or where to go. I looked at the corpse of the police officer. The last guard of Earth. Not anymore, I reminded myself. And that was what sparked the idea to visit Whitlock’s house.
Arthur lived in a terraced build that, despite being surrounded by neighbouring homes, felt unbearably isolated. When I rang the doorbell, I half-expected and half-prayed that nobody would answer.
“Hello?” Fernsby said, opening the door. “Oh, Kane! Lovely to see you.”
I looked at the ground weakly. “May I come in?”
I had no other options. I didn’t have the stomach to sleep in my farmhouse’s bed — not in a room which had seen so much death and suffering on that same night. I didn’t even want to sleep in the same house.
I delivered the bad news about Arthur and Evie. Fernsby cried for an hour. I sat in silence, allowing Benny to console the lady with tentative licks on the back of her hand. I wish I’d been of more comfort, but I wasn’t present. Fernsby was heartbroken too, of course, but she was stronger than me.
The woman insisted that Benny and I sleep there. I only intended to stay for a night, but she wouldn’t let us leave. She was worried about me. Weeks passed. Then months. The kind lady reminded me of my mother, who died when I was only a boy.
Fernsby didn’t take no for an answer — she persuaded me to stay indefinitely, realising that I was in no fit emotional state to care for myself or Benny. Moreover, the wise woman had much to teach me about the ways of the Guard. She did not have a splintered soul, but she’d been the daughter of splintered parents.
“Gerald Fernsby,” The woman said, pointing at a faded, sepia-toned photograph on the mantelpiece. “That was my father. He found Arthur in an orphanage. Adopted him. Saw his splintered soul. Years later, Gerald met my splintered mother, Lucinda, and they had me. There were more guards in those days…”
My eyes widened. “Arthur was your brother?”
The woman nodded. “He was already seventeen when I was born — on the cusp of joining the Guard. I didn’t envy him, of course. As I grew older and saw the toll it took on my family, I tried to talk Arthur out of that life, but he was just as stubborn as a boy.”
I smiled. “Sounds about right.”
“He loved Dad. He wanted to prove something to him. Lucinda and Gerald were the last of their kind. They feared for the future, knowing that Arthur was all Earth would have left. And now…” Fernsby sighed. “It’s just you.”
“May I ask your name?” I asked. “Your first name, I mean.”
The woman gazed at her lap, eyes tearful. “I share my mother’s name. Lucinda. I… I told my brother to stop calling me that after she passed. I go by Fernsby. I wear the family name with pride.”
“I’m sorry,” I whispered.
After nearly a year of living in the main town with Fernsby, I thought the pain in my chest might begin to loosen. It didn’t. Still, I managed to pull myself out of bed, on occasion. Benny was a source of motivation, and I was becoming close to the lady who cared for us. She didn’t just assume a motherly role — she became my mother.
“We could stay here forever,” Fernsby said. “But darkness is spreading, Kane. And, with every day that you hide in this house, it worsens.”
“I need to find splintered souls,” I replied, nodding.
The woman scratched her neck uncomfortably. “You need to accept that you may never find anyone to replace you. Arthur searched for years. We travelled far and wide. And we eventually settled on this small rock. He was growing old. Too old to travel. We were far from so many of the world’s horrors, but… Well, as you saw, darkness reaches all places.”
“Then why fight?” I asked. “If I were truly the last guard, then I’d only be buying time for reality’s eventual descent into darkness. One day, I will die, after all. Why delay the end?”
“We’re all just buying time, Kane,” Fernsby replied.
I shook my head. “No. I accepted this burden on the condition that I would find a way to become unburdened. That was the promise I made to myself. Once I’ve done that, I’ll hang up my hat.”
“And what becomes of you?” Fernsby asked. “You often speak of ‘joining Evie’, but I don’t like it when you talk that way. All life is precious.”
I ignored her remark. “I’ll return to the mainland and follow the clouds of the black realm. Will you join me, Fernsby? I don’t have the strength to do it alone.”
“You do,” She said. “All splintered souls do.”
I sighed. “Well, I don’t have the wisdom. I don’t know how to find others like me. You know so much more about the Guard.”
“I won’t deny that…” The woman smiled, pausing for a second. “Okay, Kane Foster. As I did with my brother, I will travel the Earth again. Just know that you have not faced the greatest horrors of the black realm… or even the greatest horrors of our world. After all, monsters and men overlap.”
“I’m ready, Fernsby,” I said. “I trust the sight. It reveals the blackness.”
“But you cannot see what’s within it,” She coldly whispered.
We packed our meagre belongings and left the tiny isle behind. The locals were sad to see us go, but they didn’t know the full truth of what happened to Arthur Whitlock and Evie Foster. Wolves tore the officer to shreds, and Evie went missing. That was the official story.
How should I explain the sight that the Oath of the Guard gifted? Well, when I look at the world, I see a sky marred by muddy splotches of red, throbbing clouds. They ink the atmosphere, sprouting in all directions. Hundreds of rips in reality. Indicators of entry points from the black realm. Too many to count. Too many to fight.
I still, to this day, never know what horrors await.
The year was 2017, and we were back on the familiar soil of the mainland. It had been a year since Whitlock knighted me. During those months, I felt the red storm-clouds grow in severity and span, but my deep depression rendered me unable to move a muscle. The world had long been falling into ruin, but the process was quickening without a protector.
“Why are we here?” Fernsby asked.
I had driven to a small town on the north-west coast. One of those woeful waypoints between places of interest — a town that most would miss on a map. And that is, of course, exactly the kind of place which attracts evil. A hidden corner of reality.
“You tell me,” I said. “I followed the cloud, but I don’t know what we’re going to find. Does any of this look familiar to you?”
“The town? No,” Fernsby shook her head. “The situation? Well, perhaps.”
“Situation?” I asked.
“Look a little more closely,” The woman replied.
And when I did, fear squeezed my abdomen like a tightening belt.
The town was deserted. Completely devoid of life. And a single flicker of movement turned out to be nothing more than a lone crisp packet, riding the coattails of a gusty breeze.
“Where is everybody?” I asked, driving slowly through the town.
“I don’t know, but…” Fernsby suddenly paused. “Kane. Drive.”
“What?” I asked.
“Find somewhere for us to get off the street!” My friend urged.
Wondering what she’d seen, I did as she asked and sharply veered into the car park of a nearby supermarket. Fernsby immediately threw the passenger door open, and I watched in confusion. Nonetheless, following her lead, Benny and I hopped out of the Ford Ranger. I ruffled my canine companion’s hairy coat and placed a finger on my lips. The most valuable trick I’d taught the year-old puppy was to be quiet — a safety net for direful situations.
“This way,” Fernsby urged, scurrying towards the supermarket’s front awning.
“What is it?” I asked, following quickly.
She placed a finger to her lips. “Talk at a low volume. We don’t want them to hear us…”
“Just tell me what’s happening,” I said, hiding behind the supermarket trolleys.
Fernsby peeked over the top of the carts. “Arthur and I saw this in a Romanian village. Like you, he was drawn to a village of people who vanished overnight. And, much like this place, we found dreadful things… Look up, Kane. Look at the mountain.”
“Mountain?” I replied.
I peered over the trolleys to face the hillside. Upon closer inspection, I realised it was more than a hill. A foreboding mound of the Earth’s crust rose three-thousand feet tall. A monumental spectacle formed not from tectonic plates, but from the blackened bowels of some nightmarish underworld. The black realm. And the unnatural formation bore an inexplicable black entrance in its front face. A doorway which spanned hundreds of feet. It shifted and swirled. A living doorway into the mountain.
“What is that?” I gasped.
“Near Brasov, during a harsh winter, we saw a mountain just like it. An impossible structure with a moving entrance. Arthur called it the gate to Hell, but it was worse than a mere gateway. The mountain was alive, Kane,” Fernsby whispered. “And it swallowed the townsfolk.”
“The cave… ate them?” I asked.
“We don’t know what happened to those who entered it,” Fernsby said. “We saved them, but they remembered nothing. This time, however, I fear we may be too late…”
I removed my weapon from its holster. “Let’s take the car.”
Fernsby held out an arm to brace me, and she softly shook her head. “The mountain can see things. We’ll travel on foot, and we’ll stick to the shadows. It could be watching.”
“Watching?” I asked. “How?”
“You’ll never get answers from the black realm, Kane,” Fernsby said. “Only more questions.”
Fernsby, Benny, and I stealthily slipped through the town, gliding between buildings and abandoned vehicles. As we neared the outskirts of town, the tall trees of the forest obscured the unnatural elevation with a gaping mouth. I felt uneasy about the mountain slipping out of sight, but I kept my eyes on the red cloud above.
When we turned onto the road leading towards the hulking apparition, Benny began to growl. Night was approaching, and street-lights were flickering to life. The Labrador didn’t like the dark, so Fernsby and I thought nothing of it. But as his growling intensified, a sickness started to fill my belly. My instincts were kicking into gear.
A hobbling man emerged. Other than the aggressive sounds of an ignored dog, there was no warning of his arrival.
I abruptly held up a fist to halt Fernsby and Benny.
The dog stopped whining as a shadowy figure walked into the darkened street. Night cloaked our location, but it did not cloak the man as he stepped into the glow of a street-lamp. He had the bloody, wounded eyes of a man who had looked upon a horror worth forgetting. And his lips stretched to the edges of his face — wider than humanly possible. Within his mouth, we saw a swirling mess. A white sphere with a red pinprick.
“An eye…” I mumbled, horrified beyond words.
I pushed Fernsby to the side, and Benny followed. We crouched behind a hedge and peered over the top. Heart throbbing at the surface of my throat.
The zombified man hobbled slowly past — his lips ever parted, like fleshy eyelids for the watchful pupil of the mountain. The enormous eyeball rolled listlessly around the man’s mouth, scanning the area for signs of life. Hunting anyone it had missed.
Eventually, the mountain’s slave wandered away, twitching as he vanished into the town.
“Did you see things like that in Brasov?” I asked.
“That’s a story for another time…” Fernsby shuddered. “Let’s move quickly. Whether we can save the townsfolk or not, we must rid this place of the mountain before its influence spreads.”
I nodded, and we followed the road out of town. It passed through a dense passageway of trees, leading towards the mountainous hill a mile up the road. Fernsby was a relatively fit and healthy woman in her fifties, but I sensed that she was struggling. A lifetime of trials had weathered her.
“Should we stop?” I asked, as Benny eventually slowed for us to catch up.
“I’m fine,” Fernsby wheezed. “Let’s…”
The woman froze, and I stopped walking. She was eyeing the mountain ahead. And when I followed her line of sight, I saw a distant crowd of people disappearing into its blackened doorway.
“Yes…” She whispered, answering an unheard voice.
Fernsby lurched forwards, and her walk was just as stilted as the hobbling man in the town. She had been claimed by the mountain.
“No!” I yelled, wrapping my arms around her.
My friend did not wrestle or fuss. She merely pushed against my arms, ever moving towards the abyss in the mountain. Benny was whining meekly, nervously watching the struggle between his two friends.
“Don’t make me do this, Fernsby…” I groaned, releasing my arms.
As the released woman freely walked towards the mountain, I swung the butt of my handgun at the crown of her head. She tumbled to the ground.
Benny whined again, uncertainly, but he did not protest as I dragged our unconscious friend to the side of the road. I rummaged in my backpack, found the climbing rope that Fernsby had wisely packed, and used it to bind her to a sturdy tree.
“I’m sorry,” I panted, checking my knots. “It’s for your own good.”
Benny and I continued alone, joining the rear of the crowd. My gut told me that the answer lay inside the monster’s mouth. I prayed for that to be a true insight of my splintered mind, and not misplaced or influenced instincts. Still, as darkness enveloped us, I accepted that there was no turning back. We became one with the mountain.
Benny moaned softly, and I bent over to stroke his head.
“It’s okay, boy,” I soothed.
“He sees you,” A voice whispered.
I shot my head around. The whisper came from a woman beside me. An unseeing woman with eyes not bloody, like the man in town, but closed. Everybody in the crowd was walking blindly ahead.
“He sees you,” Another voice hissed.
Overlapping voices chanted the same line repeatedly, engulfing us in an oppressive wall of sound. Benny growled viciously, and I removed the safety on my weapon.
And then a light emerged, silencing the crowd. A faint, grey, muted light. It danced like an unearthly flame in the clearing before the hundreds of people. Fire born of blackness, but somehow lighting the cavern.
“I see you.”
The final voice whispered within my skull.
I spun around to find myself abandoned. No crowd. No Benny. Alone in a carnivorous cave with a raging, grey fire. And, in the midst of the flames, there loomed a pumping organ. A singular living mound of grey matter, sinking into the dirt. It looked to me like a heart. Whatever the case, I knew one thing.
It was the lifeblood of the beastly mountain.
“What are you?” I asked.
“Your death, Guard,” The voice hatefully replied.
A hidden force hurled me onto my stomach, and Whitlock’s handgun escaped my grip. Seizing the opportunity, stony hands emerged from the floor of the living cavern. The urgent appendages clutched at the weapon, fingers curling around its metalwork. The mountain was quick. Determined. Desperate to leave me defenceless.
I lunged for the firearm, wrestling with the demonic hands — hands which started to pull me down too. I knew I would die without the weapon. I knew countless other people would die. And I thought of Evie. Thought of what she’d want. I even assured myself, in a moment of madness — perhaps a brief flash of my life before my eyes — that I’d seen Evie in the grey fire.
Renewed courage surging through my body, I snatched the firearm from the monstrous limbs and pulled myself to my feet. Loaded handgun hanging limply by my side, I eyed the abomination. The horror that devoured me. My mind returned to that bloody, sand-swept village in Nigeria.
I was a soldier, and I didn’t think. I fired.
The cobalt bullet punctured the flesh of the creature’s vital organ, and the grey cavern — the mountain’s belly — shifted in agony, unleashing an almighty bellow. A death cry.
A waterfall of darkness smothered me, draining the air from my lungs and plunging my body into an endless absence.
The early morning sun warmed my skin. When I woke, I was lying in the back of my Ford Ranger, wrapped in a blanket beside an eager Benny. Upon my stirring, the joyous boy licked my face, and I chuckled.
“You did it,” Fernsby said, legs dangling off the back of the Ranger.
I shot upright, and I was shocked to find that we were still in the supermarket car park — a busy car park. People were passing by, disapprovingly eyeing the man sleeping in his car. The town was brimming with life, as if there had been no evening of unimaginable terror. Life continued.
I cleared my throat. “Fernsby? I tied you to a–”
“– When the mountain released us, I made quick work of untying your knots,” She quickly interrupted. “Military standard work, Kane. Impressive. But Arthur and I faced many dangerous situations over the years. You don’t live through such things without picking up some skills.”
“Right…” I started, massaging my throbbing head. “Well, how did I get here?”
“I asked a couple of townsfolk to help carry you. Told them you were my drunk son. You were lying in the grass at the foot of the mountain,” She said, nodding to the landscape beside us.
When I looked over the edge of the truck, I saw a rolling hill, barely a few hundred feet in height. No longer a mountain at all. It was a tenth of the size. And there was no sign of the monstrosity that had plagued the town the night before. The red cloud had vanished. I felt lighter, somehow. A tremendous weight had been lifted.
“We need to leave,” Fernsby suddenly barked, bouncing onto the car park.
A convoy of white vehicles was heading down the main road.
“They’re here.”

2024.05.31 14:22 DesperateTax5773 I want to make this free hat pattern with yarn I already own

https://www.crochetforyoublog.com/2020/06/floppy-shell-brim-sun-hat/
So, the pattern above calls for tape yarn, which I do not have and would not have the money for for several weeks so not going to realistically happen soon. I did get several acrylic #4 weight yarn at a local sale that I need to use up. Can I sub and just have an extra floppy hat? Would it be okay?

2024.05.31 14:12 dietcoke650 Knits for new parents!

I have two friends who are unexpectedly going to have a baby this coming autumn! They are not in the best place financially and I thought a nice gesture would be to knit some things for the baby.
I haven’t been knitting for very long but would say I am on the intermediate side of beginner. I was wondering if anyone has any patterns they would recommend for knitting for new borns or older that are within my ability! Or just any advice on what new parents might need that they may not buy for them selves.
I was thinking blankets, cardigans, hats etc but I want to make sure it’s stuff they will need and not just knits for the sake of it!!
Thanks in advance :)
