For the last few years i've been trying to identify a tv-movie i watched as a kid in the late 90s /early 2000s, broadcasted on swedish TV, although the show itself was in English (and yes, the broadcasting network in question has been contacted, they had no clue what it could have been, maybe they don't keep archive that far back...)
Anyhow... The series was about a family being victims to a crazy expermient. I'll now try to break down the story (as far as i do remembers it)...
One night as a cold breeze blows through the daughters' bedroom window as she's about to sleep, revealing a green smoke-like moisture. That's the first sign that something isn't right. The next morning as the girl is about to head into the bathroom. She's then approached (and killed off screen) by a blue-haired CGI-animated clown that after approaching the rest of the family starts to shoot green poison out of it's hands to turn the rest of the family into different things. The son turns into a plant and then there's also a guy turning into a lamp.
That's literally all i remember from it. I also recall having nightmares about that clown for years after seeing it on TV as a kid. Would've been pretty fun to find it again and see if it's as traumatic now these days (probably not). Now, i think it would just be hilarious... :D

Hello everyone,
So, I live in a student residence where they have shared rooms. My roommate came around 3 weeks ago . I am an early sleeper, I sleep around 10:30PM. When I want to stay up late, then maybe around 12:00PM I go to bed. But for the past few weeks, I have been on holiday and couldn't go back home so I have been sleeping really late, at around 2:00PM.
With my eyes, doing anything without enough light gives me a headache and makes my eyes really watery. So when it's night time, I switch on the light on my side of the room. She's the 1st roommate I have that sleeps early. But turns out, she can't sleep with any form on light on or noise on, even a small lamp. And I make some noise as I am awake.
I had no idea she couldn't sleep properly for the past few weeks. I didn't realize it was an issue with her cause I'm normally the first to sleep with my previous roommates and I would go to sleep with the lights on since they were using it. I didn't mind cause I can sleep with lights on and moderate noise and vice-versa for them.
She showed no signs that this was bothering her and I thought everything was fine. I am not the most emotionally intelligent person. Most times, unless someone tells me directly that something is wrong, I never have a clue. There was a time, my best friend was upset with me for two days, I didn't notice till she told me.
So when I knew, I wanted to talk with her and figure out if there was anything else that I was doing that bothered her, and to apologize. But she was acting rude imo the whole time. I was trying to explain that I didn't know and that from now on, I'll go back to sleeping early so she can sleep. She was acting like she couldn't hear me the whole time. Then she burst out that I should've known, it's basic respect....... Then I told her not really, I once had a roommate Sarah who spent almost the whole day as listening to music at a very high volume on a speaker. Sarah was a very sweet girl and she assumed I wouldn't mind cause her previous roommate liked that and would sometimes suggest songs. I had to mention I didn't like that and she stopped. So sometimes people don't realise. I really didn't know. All you had to do was tell me, and I would've stopped.
Then she started getting angry and was saying that her feelings are valid and I told her that her feelings are valid, there was never an argument about that, you've not been sleeping properly for a few weeks, of course you're gonna be angry, and I just want to have a conversation with you on it, I am not attacking you. Then I started to apologise to her, saying I'm sorry and I wish I knew earlier, then she stood up and slammed the door. I waited a bit then followed her to still apologise but she told me to leave her alone.
We haven't spoken since and it's been two days. Am I the asshole? what can I do to make the situation better?

hey all - just wanted to come and share this cool news, my screenplay ‘Deathwish In A Bottle’ scored an 8/10 on The Blacklist today.
this is my first time getting an evaluation from The Blacklist, and I am pretty pumped about it.
I am 20 now. I started working on this script when I was a senior in high school at 17, then, ‘DWIAB’ started life as a short script. after I graduated from high school, I started to turn it into a feature at 18. from July ‘22 to April ‘23, I wrote this script into a 115p screenplay, then I just let it sit for a long time - in February 2024, at 19, I decided to return to the script, and give it a page-one rewrite. I condensed it from 115p to 99p and that was the last time I touched it. final draft that I turned into The Blacklist for an evaluation.
TITLE: ‘DEATHWISH IN A BOTTLE’
LOGLINE: After Bryan, an anxiety-riddled, parentally burdened teenager stumbles upon this powerful wish-maker, his selfish actions plague the local high school - causing widespread paranoia across his hometown, Brewster.
OVERALL - 8/10
PREMISE - 8/10

Logline: A teenager finds a magic lamp that grants him wishes - at the cost of a human life.
Strengths
"Deathwish in a Bottle" is a fascinating, frightening script about what happens when ultimate power is placed in the hands of someone without ultimate wisdom. The high concept is simple but intriguing, and the script does some very entertaining things with it. A key to the story's success is Bryan himself, a complex, morally conflicted antihero. It doesn't take long for Bryan to realize the power he possesses and the consequences, and we are on the edge of our seats, engaged in seeing how this will turn out. The "Superman Returns" motif is interesting and well-integrated. While not everyone will get that the protagonist's name is likely a reference to Bryan Singer's underrated adaptation of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's character, the more obvious references are effective. Of particular interest is the poignant memory Bryan's father reciting the iconic fatheson speech Jor-El said to young Superman and later Superman to Jason. It's possibly the most stirring scene in the script.
Weaknesses
The tone is inconsistent, sometimes wildly so, and this can get to be a distraction. This is a scary story, and there is tragedy and pathos. Yet we're not always sure how seriously we should take what, from scene to scene. Sometimes it's a problem within a single scene. This is no more evident than in Bryan's session with Doctor Ottman. Ottman has an important point to make about guilt and trying to do better, and it's a serious message Bryan has to hear. Yet for his example, Doctor Ottman cites Jason Lee's Earl Hickey as a real person he a actually knew himself. Those familiar with "My Name is Earl" might find this a bizarre choice, and it would take them out of what would otherwise be one of the script's most dramatic scenes. Sam Parker is barely a character in his own right. If he was introduced and developed more before his death, then it would have much more impact. Even if Bryan himself doesn't have a relationship with Sam, the audience still could.
Prospects
"Deathwish in a Bottle" is a fascinating and original script that does something original and unexpected with the wish-granting trope. The script has horror, comedy, and drama, and while the tone isn't always balanced, the genre blend is intriguing and a hook in itself. The script features, for some reason, a Silent Bob cameo. This isn't really necessary, but if Kevin Smith actually agreed to it, that might be some interesting word of mouth. Bryan is an complex antihero who always has our attention. This could be a breakout role for the right young actor.

Hello - I will soon be moving from an apartment with a german cockroach infestation and I want to ensure I don’t bring any with me to the next one. I’ve read the sticky and many other threads in this subreddit covering the same topic and developed a plan for moving out. I wanted to post it here to get feedback or confirmation that my plan is sound.
QUICK CONTEXT:

• Moved to Los Angeles July of last year. The peak of our infestation was November-February, where we would see 4-8 roaches daily of various ages. We got fumigated a total of 3 times - once in November, December, and February. Since our 3rd fumigation in February, where our apartment complex treated multiple units at once, we saw a decline in frequency - maybe 1 every few weeks or so. Still not certain they are gone considering we see one from time to time, and knowing that our building is dealing with an infestation as a whole.
• In terms of infestation areas, we saw the most roaches in our kitchen near the usual appliances. The second most common areas were the bathrooms. Occasionally we would see one on the floowall of our living room or bedrooms, but they typically didn’t congregate in those locations.

MOVING OUT PLAN:
For simple items that are made of solid materials without holes or crevices, I plan to just inspect them, clean them off, and put them in an airtight plastic moving container.
These are my plans for riskier household items:
Fabric based objects like sheets, towels, and clothes

• Inspect and wash/dry. Place in airtight plastic container.
• For objects that are unable to be washed, just inspect.
• For objects that are unable to be washed but seem suspicious, place in vacuum sealed bag for ideally 30 days.

Wooden objects

• Inspect, dismantle if possible or if suspicious, and wipe down. Place in air tight plastic container.
• For objects that seem suspicious, place in vacuum sealed bag for ideally 30 days.

Kitchen appliances

• Throw away: toaster oven, Keurig, air fryer

Electronics

• Vacuum seal gaming consoles for at least 30 days - maybe 2 months to be safe.

Mattress

• Inspect for signs of bugs. If clear, place mattress in mattress cover. After moving to new apartment, replace old cover with new cover. Keep cover on indefinitely, or remove after a few months if roaches do not seem present.
• Taking these precautions so that roaches do not enter or exit, if they are somehow in my mattress.

MOVING INTO NEW PLACE:
Treatment for new apartment before bringing any boxes in:

• Caulk holes/cracks in floor edges with caulking tape
• Spray Alpine WSG

Moving In:

• Carefully inspect exterior of sealed moving containers to ensure there are no hitchhikers
• Inspect each object as I take it out to ensure there are no hitchhikers
• Keep vacuum sealed items mentioned above quarantined until safe

REMAINING QUESTIONS

• For my kitchen appliances, I can part with the toaster oven, but I want to try vacuum sealing my Keurig and air fryer. Not sure if it is worth the risk though.
• I have a PC setup from my work company so that I can work from home half the week. The PC and monitors are a bit larger, so I am not sure if I can vacuum seal them (also I need them to work). I can’t toss them either because they are my company’s property - what is the best approach?
• Similar to the PC, we have a TV in our living room that is too big to vacuum seal. Should I just toss it?
• For smaller electronic appliances that omit heat when they are in use (lamps, blow driers, hair curlers) - are those safe? Or should I vacuum seal them as well?

Currently I just have a cheap, basic 3-way torchiere style floor lamp you can get at Target for like $30. But it's 3-way up to 150W and brightens up the room extremely well.

My fanmade Avatar is named a 17-year-old named Jun Seong (They/Them), and they live in the Lower Ring of Ba Sing Se with their parents and 10-year-old little brother, Su-Jin.
It basically takes place in the early 2000s (based on the idea that LOK takes place in the 1920s)
Their dad, Do-Yun, is a paraplegic and is a retired member of The Dai Li. But due to his disability, he can't work. So his wife, Seo-ah, and Jun had to start working to make ends meet. Jun even had to drop out of High School so they could work longer shifts and get more money.
Jun works as an apprentice mechanic, and Seo-ah works the night shift at a crummy convenience store. Seo-ah was a critical care doctor, but had her medical license revoked due to an accident she caused due to sleep deprivation.
There's seemingly already an Avatar, Xiāng Cui, but it turns out that she's a fraud, and Jun is the real Avatar (they found out because they went into The Avatar State when they and Su-Jin were being mugged).
Turns out Xiāng is actually a Firebender and is a member of The Neo Red Lotus, led by a Waterbender named Menomaru, an Earthbender named Arun (They/Them), a Firebender named Longmei, and an Airbender named Asha. She was able to bend other elements because of a wristband they invented: it connects to a person's chi via a DNA sample (preferably a strand of hair) and allows them to artificially bend (it's not as strong as normal bending, though).
The current rulers of Ba Sing Se are Queen Xīn Yán and King Zhi Peng, along with Prime Minister Mèng Yáo. Queen Xīn Yán was born into royalty. When she became queen, she reformed The Dai Li, which gained her much respect. Even after she married King Zhi Peng people wanted her to have the most power, instead of her husband (which works for Zhi Peng, since he's basically a male wife-).
Jinora has adopted twin sons, Dache and Kalden, who are also Airbenders. Dache is mute, and communicates through Sign Language
There are even Sign Language classes on Air Temple Island so everyone will be able to understand him. If there's someone who doesn't know Sign Language, usually Kalden translates, but if he isn't there, Dache just spells out what he wants to say on the person's hand, with his finger, or writes it on a piece of paper.
Dache is an expert on Spirit Projection (because he learned it from Jinora). While Dache is the brains of the twins, Kalden is the brawn and is better at combat. But Jun chose Dache to be their teacher since he's more calm and level-headed, while Kalden has a short fuse.
The current Firelord is Iroh II's daughter, Kazuko (she was named after her great-grandfather, Zuko). She has a daughter named Hualing, and she's a Nonbender.
Hualing feels like a disgrace to The Fire Nation royal family, even though she's been reminded of powerful Nonbenders like Sokka, Ty Lee, Suki, Mai, and Asami. She's gone so far as to have her mother not tell the public about her being a Nonbender, despite Kazuko's insistence that the Fire Nation would accept her, regardless of her being a bender or not.
This makes her a prime target for The Neo Red Lotus, and they give her one of those wristbands to allow her to artificially bend. Since they give her the ability to bend, she feels indebted to them and joins The Neo Red Lotus. As one well-known dictator from WWII said, "he alone, who owns the youth, gains the future" (basically "go for the youth, and you'll have them for life")
The people who teach Jun Water, Air, and Firebending are:
A prodigy Waterbending student named Higalik teaches Jun Waterbending
Dache teaches Jun Airbending
And a Pro-Bender named Chenguang teaches Jun Firebending
When Jun has to learn Firebending, they decide to go watch a Pro-Bending match in Republic City before meeting
Firelord Kazuko and Hualing. After the match, the current Firebending Pro-Bender from The Fire Ferrets,
Chenguang, meets them and explains that she can teach them Firebending, and that she was a Firebending teacher before becoming a Pro-Bender. Jun turns down her offer, in hopes that Hualing could teach them, only to find out that she's a Nonbender. As a last resort, they go back to Chenguang after another match and agrees to let her teach them Firebending.

Stack sizes have been increased / Clans / Kits / Sort button for boxes / Private messages. Lamps and lanterns that use LGF and campfires come on at night automatically. Monuments have car lifts and recyclers. Teleport to Outpost, Bandit Camp, Home, other players, and more. Buy and spawn vehicles. Paste images and text to signs. Skin clothes and deployable items. Most player deployed items can be locked. Spawn at Outpost or Bandit Camp on death. If you die you will no longer be hostile. Vending machines have an ATM menu at the bottom, store your scrap and gain 10% interest each day. Monuments have loot added to various containers that are normally not interactive. Items that say “Locked” and show a health bar with the amount of damage required to open. Guarded crate events spawn randomly on the map and have several levels of difficulty.

“We should run, Benny,” I said. “It would be easy.”
As the crowd of possessed people flowed forwards, I looked into the eyes of my year-old golden Labrador — eyes weathered by the longest twelve months of our lives. I tried to spare Benny from the hardships of my life. However, whenever I left him with Fernsby, he was inconsolable. Only being by my side seemed to steady his restless, fragile disposition.
The Labrador bared his canines. White, drooling tips encrusted with cobalt. Given that he was so determined to cling to me, no matter the dangers I faced, I had to give him the tools to defend himself.
We faced a mountainous being, built of dirt and bedrock, at the edge of an empty town. A creature that had transfixed the townsfolk — leading them into the pit of its cavernous mouth. A cataclysmic horror unfit for human eyes. Though mine, burdened with the sight of the Oath, seemed uninfluenced by the terror.
A long road led me to that haunted town.
On the night of Evie's death, I was lost. Unsure what to do or where to go. I looked at the corpse of the police officer. The last guard of Earth. Not anymore, I reminded myself. And that was what sparked the idea to visit Whitlock’s house.
Arthur lived in a terraced build that, despite being surrounded by neighbouring homes, felt unbearably isolated. When I rang the doorbell, I half-expected and half-prayed that nobody would answer.
“Hello?” Fernsby said, opening the door. “Oh, Kane! Lovely to see you.”
I looked at the ground weakly. “May I come in?”
I had no other options. I didn’t have the stomach to sleep in my farmhouse’s bed — not in a room which had seen so much death and suffering on that same night. I didn’t even want to sleep in the same house.
I delivered the bad news about Arthur and Evie. Fernsby cried for an hour. I sat in silence, allowing Benny to console the lady with tentative licks on the back of her hand. I wish I’d been of more comfort, but I wasn’t present. Fernsby was heartbroken too, of course, but she was stronger than me.
The woman insisted that Benny and I sleep there. I only intended to stay for a night, but she wouldn’t let us leave. She was worried about me. Weeks passed. Then months. The kind lady reminded me of my mother, who died when I was only a boy.
Fernsby didn’t take no for an answer — she persuaded me to stay indefinitely, realising that I was in no fit emotional state to care for myself or Benny. Moreover, the wise woman had much to teach me about the ways of the Guard. She did not have a splintered soul, but she’d been the daughter of splintered parents.
“Gerald Fernsby,” The woman said, pointing at a faded, sepia-toned photograph on the mantelpiece. “That was my father. He found Arthur in an orphanage. Adopted him. Saw his splintered soul. Years later, Gerald met my splintered mother, Lucinda, and they had me. There were more guards in those days…”
My eyes widened. “Arthur was your brother?”
The woman nodded. “He was already seventeen when I was born — on the cusp of joining the Guard. I didn’t envy him, of course. As I grew older and saw the toll it took on my family, I tried to talk Arthur out of that life, but he was just as stubborn as a boy.”
I smiled. “Sounds about right.”
“He loved Dad. He wanted to prove something to him. Lucinda and Gerald were the last of their kind. They feared for the future, knowing that Arthur was all Earth would have left. And now…” Fernsby sighed. “It’s just you.”
“May I ask your name?” I asked. “Your first name, I mean.”
The woman gazed at her lap, eyes tearful. “I share my mother’s name. Lucinda. I… I told my brother to stop calling me that after she passed. I go by Fernsby. I wear the family name with pride.”
“I’m sorry,” I whispered.
After nearly a year of living in the main town with Fernsby, I thought the pain in my chest might begin to loosen. It didn’t. Still, I managed to pull myself out of bed, on occasion. Benny was a source of motivation, and I was becoming close to the lady who cared for us. She didn’t just assume a motherly role — she became my mother.
“We could stay here forever,” Fernsby said. “But darkness is spreading, Kane. And, with every day that you hide in this house, it worsens.”
“I need to find splintered souls,” I replied, nodding.
The woman scratched her neck uncomfortably. “You need to accept that you may never find anyone to replace you. Arthur searched for years. We travelled far and wide. And we eventually settled on this small rock. He was growing old. Too old to travel. We were far from so many of the world’s horrors, but… Well, as you saw, darkness reaches all places.”
“Then why fight?” I asked. “If I were truly the last guard, then I’d only be buying time for reality’s eventual descent into darkness. One day, I will die, after all. Why delay the end?”
“We’re all just buying time, Kane,” Fernsby replied.
I shook my head. “No. I accepted this burden on the condition that I would find a way to become unburdened. That was the promise I made to myself. Once I’ve done that, I’ll hang up my hat.”
“And what becomes of you?” Fernsby asked. “You often speak of ‘joining Evie’, but I don’t like it when you talk that way. All life is precious.”
I ignored her remark. “I’ll return to the mainland and follow the clouds of the black realm. Will you join me, Fernsby? I don’t have the strength to do it alone.”
“You do,” She said. “All splintered souls do.”
I sighed. “Well, I don’t have the wisdom. I don’t know how to find others like me. You know so much more about the Guard.”
“I won’t deny that…” The woman smiled, pausing for a second. “Okay, Kane Foster. As I did with my brother, I will travel the Earth again. Just know that you have not faced the greatest horrors of the black realm… or even the greatest horrors of our world. After all, monsters and men overlap.”
“I’m ready, Fernsby,” I said. “I trust the sight. It reveals the blackness.”
“But you cannot see what’s within it,” She coldly whispered.
We packed our meagre belongings and left the tiny isle behind. The locals were sad to see us go, but they didn’t know the full truth of what happened to Arthur Whitlock and Evie Foster. Wolves tore the officer to shreds, and Evie went missing. That was the official story.
How should I explain the sight that the Oath of the Guard gifted? Well, when I look at the world, I see a sky marred by muddy splotches of red, throbbing clouds. They ink the atmosphere, sprouting in all directions. Hundreds of rips in reality. Indicators of entry points from the black realm. Too many to count. Too many to fight.
I still, to this day, never know what horrors await.
The year was 2017, and we were back on the familiar soil of the mainland. It had been a year since Whitlock knighted me. During those months, I felt the red storm-clouds grow in severity and span, but my deep depression rendered me unable to move a muscle. The world had long been falling into ruin, but the process was quickening without a protector.
“Why are we here?” Fernsby asked.
I had driven to a small town on the north-west coast. One of those woeful waypoints between places of interest — a town that most would miss on a map. And that is, of course, exactly the kind of place which attracts evil. A hidden corner of reality.
“You tell me,” I said. “I followed the cloud, but I don’t know what we’re going to find. Does any of this look familiar to you?”
“The town? No,” Fernsby shook her head. “The situation? Well, perhaps.”
“Situation?” I asked.
“Look a little more closely,” The woman replied.
And when I did, fear squeezed my abdomen like a tightening belt.
The town was deserted. Completely devoid of life. And a single flicker of movement turned out to be nothing more than a lone crisp packet, riding the coattails of a gusty breeze.
“Where is everybody?” I asked, driving slowly through the town.
“I don’t know, but…” Fernsby suddenly paused. “Kane. Drive.”
“What?” I asked.
“Find somewhere for us to get off the street!” My friend urged.
Wondering what she’d seen, I did as she asked and sharply veered into the car park of a nearby supermarket. Fernsby immediately threw the passenger door open, and I watched in confusion. Nonetheless, following her lead, Benny and I hopped out of the Ford Ranger. I ruffled my canine companion’s hairy coat and placed a finger on my lips. The most valuable trick I’d taught the year-old puppy was to be quiet — a safety net for direful situations.
“This way,” Fernsby urged, scurrying towards the supermarket’s front awning.
“What is it?” I asked, following quickly.
She placed a finger to her lips. “Talk at a low volume. We don’t want them to hear us…”
“Just tell me what’s happening,” I said, hiding behind the supermarket trolleys.
Fernsby peeked over the top of the carts. “Arthur and I saw this in a Romanian village. Like you, he was drawn to a village of people who vanished overnight. And, much like this place, we found dreadful things… Look up, Kane. Look at the mountain.”
“Mountain?” I replied.
I peered over the trolleys to face the hillside. Upon closer inspection, I realised it was more than a hill. A foreboding mound of the Earth’s crust rose three-thousand feet tall. A monumental spectacle formed not from tectonic plates, but from the blackened bowels of some nightmarish underworld. The black realm. And the unnatural formation bore an inexplicable black entrance in its front face. A doorway which spanned hundreds of feet. It shifted and swirled. A living doorway into the mountain.
“What is that?” I gasped.
“Near Brasov, during a harsh winter, we saw a mountain just like it. An impossible structure with a moving entrance. Arthur called it the gate to Hell, but it was worse than a mere gateway. The mountain was alive, Kane,” Fernsby whispered. “And it swallowed the townsfolk.”
“The cave… ate them?” I asked.
“We don’t know what happened to those who entered it,” Fernsby said. “We saved them, but they remembered nothing. This time, however, I fear we may be too late…”
I removed my weapon from its holster. “Let’s take the car.”
Fernsby held out an arm to brace me, and she softly shook her head. “The mountain can see things. We’ll travel on foot, and we’ll stick to the shadows. It could be watching.”
“Watching?” I asked. “How?”
“You’ll never get answers from the black realm, Kane,” Fernsby said. “Only more questions.”
Fernsby, Benny, and I stealthily slipped through the town, gliding between buildings and abandoned vehicles. As we neared the outskirts of town, the tall trees of the forest obscured the unnatural elevation with a gaping mouth. I felt uneasy about the mountain slipping out of sight, but I kept my eyes on the red cloud above.
When we turned onto the road leading towards the hulking apparition, Benny began to growl. Night was approaching, and street-lights were flickering to life. The Labrador didn’t like the dark, so Fernsby and I thought nothing of it. But as his growling intensified, a sickness started to fill my belly. My instincts were kicking into gear.
A hobbling man emerged. Other than the aggressive sounds of an ignored dog, there was no warning of his arrival.
I abruptly held up a fist to halt Fernsby and Benny.
The dog stopped whining as a shadowy figure walked into the darkened street. Night cloaked our location, but it did not cloak the man as he stepped into the glow of a street-lamp. He had the bloody, wounded eyes of a man who had looked upon a horror worth forgetting. And his lips stretched to the edges of his face — wider than humanly possible. Within his mouth, we saw a swirling mess. A white sphere with a red pinprick.
“An eye…” I mumbled, horrified beyond words.
I pushed Fernsby to the side, and Benny followed. We crouched behind a hedge and peered over the top. Heart throbbing at the surface of my throat.
The zombified man hobbled slowly past — his lips ever parted, like fleshy eyelids for the watchful pupil of the mountain. The enormous eyeball rolled listlessly around the man’s mouth, scanning the area for signs of life. Hunting anyone it had missed.
Eventually, the mountain’s slave wandered away, twitching as he vanished into the town.
“Did you see things like that in Brasov?” I asked.
“That’s a story for another time…” Fernsby shuddered. “Let’s move quickly. Whether we can save the townsfolk or not, we must rid this place of the mountain before its influence spreads.”
I nodded, and we followed the road out of town. It passed through a dense passageway of trees, leading towards the mountainous hill a mile up the road. Fernsby was a relatively fit and healthy woman in her fifties, but I sensed that she was struggling. A lifetime of trials had weathered her.
“Should we stop?” I asked, as Benny eventually slowed for us to catch up.
“I’m fine,” Fernsby wheezed. “Let’s…”
The woman froze, and I stopped walking. She was eyeing the mountain ahead. And when I followed her line of sight, I saw a distant crowd of people disappearing into its blackened doorway.
“Yes…” She whispered, answering an unheard voice.
Fernsby lurched forwards, and her walk was just as stilted as the hobbling man in the town. She had been claimed by the mountain.
“No!” I yelled, wrapping my arms around her.
My friend did not wrestle or fuss. She merely pushed against my arms, ever moving towards the abyss in the mountain. Benny was whining meekly, nervously watching the struggle between his two friends.
“Don’t make me do this, Fernsby…” I groaned, releasing my arms.
As the released woman freely walked towards the mountain, I swung the butt of my handgun at the crown of her head. She tumbled to the ground.
Benny whined again, uncertainly, but he did not protest as I dragged our unconscious friend to the side of the road. I rummaged in my backpack, found the climbing rope that Fernsby had wisely packed, and used it to bind her to a sturdy tree.
“I’m sorry,” I panted, checking my knots. “It’s for your own good.”
Benny and I continued alone, joining the rear of the crowd. My gut told me that the answer lay inside the monster’s mouth. I prayed for that to be a true insight of my splintered mind, and not misplaced or influenced instincts. Still, as darkness enveloped us, I accepted that there was no turning back. We became one with the mountain.
Benny moaned softly, and I bent over to stroke his head.
“It’s okay, boy,” I soothed.
“He sees you,” A voice whispered.
I shot my head around. The whisper came from a woman beside me. An unseeing woman with eyes not bloody, like the man in town, but closed. Everybody in the crowd was walking blindly ahead.
“He sees you,” Another voice hissed.
Overlapping voices chanted the same line repeatedly, engulfing us in an oppressive wall of sound. Benny growled viciously, and I removed the safety on my weapon.
And then a light emerged, silencing the crowd. A faint, grey, muted light. It danced like an unearthly flame in the clearing before the hundreds of people. Fire born of blackness, but somehow lighting the cavern.
“I see you.”
The final voice whispered within my skull.
I spun around to find myself abandoned. No crowd. No Benny. Alone in a carnivorous cave with a raging, grey fire. And, in the midst of the flames, there loomed a pumping organ. A singular living mound of grey matter, sinking into the dirt. It looked to me like a heart. Whatever the case, I knew one thing.
It was the lifeblood of the beastly mountain.
“What are you?” I asked.
“Your death, Guard,” The voice hatefully replied.
A hidden force hurled me onto my stomach, and Whitlock’s handgun escaped my grip. Seizing the opportunity, stony hands emerged from the floor of the living cavern. The urgent appendages clutched at the weapon, fingers curling around its metalwork. The mountain was quick. Determined. Desperate to leave me defenceless.
I lunged for the firearm, wrestling with the demonic hands — hands which started to pull me down too. I knew I would die without the weapon. I knew countless other people would die. And I thought of Evie. Thought of what she’d want. I even assured myself, in a moment of madness — perhaps a brief flash of my life before my eyes — that I’d seen Evie in the grey fire.
Renewed courage surging through my body, I snatched the firearm from the monstrous limbs and pulled myself to my feet. Loaded handgun hanging limply by my side, I eyed the abomination. The horror that devoured me. My mind returned to that bloody, sand-swept village in Nigeria.
I was a soldier, and I didn’t think. I fired.
The cobalt bullet punctured the flesh of the creature’s vital organ, and the grey cavern — the mountain’s belly — shifted in agony, unleashing an almighty bellow. A death cry.
A waterfall of darkness smothered me, draining the air from my lungs and plunging my body into an endless absence.
The early morning sun warmed my skin. When I woke, I was lying in the back of my Ford Ranger, wrapped in a blanket beside an eager Benny. Upon my stirring, the joyous boy licked my face, and I chuckled.
“You did it,” Fernsby said, legs dangling off the back of the Ranger.
I shot upright, and I was shocked to find that we were still in the supermarket car park — a busy car park. People were passing by, disapprovingly eyeing the man sleeping in his car. The town was brimming with life, as if there had been no evening of unimaginable terror. Life continued.
I cleared my throat. “Fernsby? I tied you to a–”
“– When the mountain released us, I made quick work of untying your knots,” She quickly interrupted. “Military standard work, Kane. Impressive. But Arthur and I faced many dangerous situations over the years. You don’t live through such things without picking up some skills.”
“Right…” I started, massaging my throbbing head. “Well, how did I get here?”
“I asked a couple of townsfolk to help carry you. Told them you were my drunk son. You were lying in the grass at the foot of the mountain,” She said, nodding to the landscape beside us.
When I looked over the edge of the truck, I saw a rolling hill, barely a few hundred feet in height. No longer a mountain at all. It was a tenth of the size. And there was no sign of the monstrosity that had plagued the town the night before. The red cloud had vanished. I felt lighter, somehow. A tremendous weight had been lifted.
“We need to leave,” Fernsby suddenly barked, bouncing onto the car park.
A convoy of white vehicles was heading down the main road.
“They’re here.”

After turning Solo SIkoa into a babyface I feel like I can do anything, so I'm booking the WWE until Wrestlemania. For Part 1, I'm going to start from the first Raw of June and book until Money In The Bank qualifying matches (not the PLE itself). This is posted before Smackdown 5/31, so I hope nothing big happens that ruins this immediately.
Raw 6/3: The fallout from last raw is real, and the talk of the town is the kiss between Liv and Dominik. Priest is absolutely pissed, with Finn and JD failing to capture the tag titles before and now this, he is really angry, and takes it out on Rey Mysterio and the LWO. However, Raw starts before that with a promo between many contenders for the WHC, including Drew McIntyre, Gunther, and Damian Priest, when a pretty upset Jey Uso comes out, who has was absent from raw last week. They have their usual yelling match, and then it ends with more teasing about McIntyre vs Priest at CatC. We then have some usual beef, such as JD vs Stroman and Ilja vs Ricochet vs Breakker. Nothing is set in stone this week. We then have the much anticipated Liv Morgan promo, where she says "I told you, I would take EVERYTHING from you, Rhea." She very clearly intends to take Dom away too, as shes seen backstage later talking to him. Later we have Sheamus vs Ludwig Kaiser, with Kaiser winning. Sheamus keeps getting put down. Then, for the main event, Priest defeats Rey. Not a very enticing Raw besides some teasers like the Liv Morgan promo and the WHC promo.
Smackdown 6/7: A week away from CatC and Cody Rhodes being a fighting champ, he has a match at CatC, and the main event is a number 1 contenders match between Carmelo Hayes, AJ Styles, and LA Knight. Before, we have a few promos and matches, including a number 1 contenders match for the Tag Titles between DIY and the Street Profits, which is won by DIY. The second match set in stone for Clash at the Castle is DIY vs A Town Down for the WWE Tag Titles. A few more promos and a third is made, with Bayley vs Piper Niven after Niven continues to attack her. A few more promos are cut, including the proper introductions to both Andrade (who immediately feuds with Santos Escobar) and Blair Davenport, who says she's here to take over the women's division. Finally, we get to the #1 contenders match, which is won by AJ Styles, who gets one last shot at the title after earning it, and CatC has its 4th match being Cody Rhodes vs AJ Styles.
Raw 6/10: Raw sets up 2 more matches, the first being Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark vs Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn for the chance to fight Bianca and Jade at CatC, which is won by Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, however it is noted that Baszler and Stark are immediately #1 contenders after this. Finally, after constant fighting, the first main roster PLE is set for both Dragunov and Breakker as they face off against Ricochet in a triple threat match. There are some more promos, but the most significant is the return of CM Punk, who vows to run the match for Drew McIntyre. However, right before the show ends, Liv Morgan is seen talking with Dominik Mysterio, and surprisingly, JD as well. They discuss something and it catches the eye of Finn Balor, who doesn't stop them.
Smackdown 6/14: This is mostly just brawls and contract signings, however there is one important thing to note here. With the fued between Andrade and Santos Escobar growing, they start to throw hands. This turns into a pre show match between Andrade and Santos Escobar. Also, if you're wondering, the Bloodline nor RKO have really done anything. RKO has done nothing with Orton and Kevin Owens not appearing, and the bloodline would have the first match for Tonga Loa on this smackdown but it's just a squash match. With some more promos being cut, a few storylines are sprinkled in. Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax officially form a friendship, Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles beef, and LA Knight and Carmelo Hayes seemingly shift their eyes from the Universal title to the US title. However, it's time for Clash at the Castle
Clash at the Castle:
Pre Show: Andrade def Santos Escobar.
This match begins to set Andrade apart as a singles star, and a title chance doesn't seem to be too far out. Santos Escobar on the other hand is angry and looks to change things.
Match 1: Bron Breakker def Ilja Dragunov and Ricochet
They put on an incredible match with Bron coming out on top. It ends with a super H Bomb being caught by a spear, Ricochet breaking it, and then he gets hit witih a spear after he goes for a middle rope roundhouse kick, and Bron wins.
Match 2: Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair (c) def Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn
Another pretty decent match that sees Jade and BIanca retain. It's pretty similar to their match at KotR vs Candice and Indi
Match 3: DIY def A Town Down (c) for the WWE Tag Titles
The first title change in the mens tag division since the titles changed. DIY finally strike gold in their main roster run by winning with a pin on Grayson Waller, leaving Austin Theory upset.
Match 4: Bayley (c) def Piper Niven
A match that sees constant interference from Chelsea Green, it isn't enough as Bayley is able to retain in a pretty fun match.
Match 5: Cody Rhodes (c) def AJ Styles
A desperate AJ styles does anything to get this title. He plays dirty, uses cheap tactics, takes the ref out, but it comes back to bite him, as when he has Cody in a pin, no count is made, and AJ has to get the ref up, and as he does, Cody sneaks in and hits a Cross Rhodes for the win.
Match 6: Damian Priest (c) def Drew McIntryre
There are a lot of interferences. The entire fight, Drew is partially focused on CM Punk coming out to cost him the match, but it isn't at first, because Finn Balor is out there despite Priest telling them not to. This actually causes Priest to hit Balor, which takes Balor back. Balor apologizes and backs off, and Drew begins to get the upper hand. McIntyre can taste the title and lets his mind fully focus on the title, preparing a claymore. However, that's when CM Punk strikes, doing the same thing he did to him on raw at the first #1 contenders match after WM40. It ends with Priest hitting a South of Heaven for the win.
Raw 6/17: The fallout from CatC is real, with McIntyre stating that he will "ruin CM Punk for the rest of his life." However, things aren't all pretty, as despite retaining, Priest is freaking out. He starts to lash out at specifically Finn Balor about how he really hasn't done anything. He really goes into Dom though, and this is the moment where Priest shuns Dom so bad he pretty much kicks him out of the Judgement Day. He loses it, and while he gives JD a slight pass, he still goes into him hard too. He also tries to end Carlitos run with Judgement Day too. I also haven't really mentioned much about Gable, Bronson Reed, or Zayn yet. That's because nothing much has happened. It's the same "You guys suck" from Gable and then Zayn or Reed come out. Until now. In a match where Tozawa and Otis get destroyed by the Creed Brothers and Authors of Pain (both get pinned by a member of each team, setting up a #1 contenders match between them), and goes to beat them both. They're beaten, and you would think Zayn would come out and save them, but it turns out he was attacked backstage. Bronson Reed just doesn't care. However, It's Maxxine Dupri who stops Gable. However, Gable is having none of it, and begins hitting her. He hits her so hard she begins to bleed and cry to Gable. Gable doesn't stop, and this is finally the turning point for Otis to turn on Gable, who picks up Gable and slams him. Otis throws Gable out of the ring and leaves with the rest of Alpha Academy, and Gable is quick to chase them. Also, Bron Breakker starts to really involve himself in the WHC picture, now targeting his first title. Ricochet seemingly starts to get involved in the IC title picture. Dragunov doesn't really get involved in either yet. Finally, we get a big announcement towards the end of the show about the MiTB Qualifying matches. They are set on Raw, with four happening on 6/24, and 4 happening on 7/1. The matches for 6/24 are as follows
6/24: Karrion Kross vs Xavier Woods and Dragon Lee vs Dominik Mysterio
6/24: Dakota Kai vs Zelena Vega and Zoey Stark vs ivy Nile
7/1: Finn Balor vs Ludwig Kaiser and Ricochet vs Ilja Dragunov
7/1: Kiana James vs Shayna Bazler and Lyra Valkyria vs Asuka
Finally on Raw, Liv Morgan brings out Dominik Mysterio and starts to play with his mind, how she can become his new Mami after Rhea and that disgusting judgement day kicked him out. Dom refuses her, for now. The night ends with a match between Drew McIntyre and Finn Balor, with McIntyre winning.
Smackdown 6/21: While not as eventful as Raw, Smackdown still has some crazy moments. AJ Styles absolutely loses it backstage, knowing he probably wont get another title shot for a while. Jade and Bianca have a squash match, and DIY cut a fun promo. Nothing big happens The Bloodline show up. You see, they aren't happy with AJ Styles after he decided to break some of their things in anger. So, they beat the hell out of him for it, but out comes Randy Orton and Kevin Owens, who return. They start to beef again. A few more promos are cut, but then we have what everyone was here for, the MiTB Qualifying matches. They're set for 4 tonight and 4 in a week, and they get right into it. However, before the last hour and a half is taken up, Cody Rhodes cuts a promo, looking for his next opponent, and it's found in Andrade. Fresh off a win against Santos Escobar, Andrade want's to play for his first set of gold, and has his eyes set on the prize that is Cody Rhodes title. He makes a challenge for MiTB, and Cody accepts, looking forward to facing an honorable fighter. However, its time for the MiTB matches, and here they are
