Toe wear on tyre, re-align and keep driving?
My Mazda CX-5 AWD has toe wear on the inside of the front tyres. The tread is not worn out past the wear markers, but it is worn unevenly...
So I went to a tyre shop to have a re-alignment and they said the car has too much toe in and they adjusted it. But they said the re-alignment is useless because the "uneven wear will automatically just come back" and I should just buy new tyres.
Are trying to upsell me or is it impossible to get unevenly worn tyres back to an even wear pattern?

The durability and build quality of this rack is impressive, and it's light enough to take with me when I travel yet sturdy enough to handle the wear and tear of everyday use. This pouch proved to be a reliable and stylish accessory for my hunting gear. The leather brown color added a touch of elegance to my setup, and it has held up well over time.
The one minor issue I encountered was that it only fits one magazine at a time, which might not be ideal for those who need to carry two or more mags frequently. However, when considering the convenience and durability this pouch provides, I think it is a worthy addition to any hunting enthusiast's gear collection. Overall, I'm glad I made the investment and would highly recommend giving it a try.

With its sleek and comfortable design, I could easily move around without the holster getting in the way. The adjustable leather fit perfectly and allowed for smooth and easy magazine swaps. I particularly appreciated the ambidextrous feature that made life all the more convenient for a right-handed shooter like myself.
However, the only downside I encountered was the fact that the magazine holder wasn't caliber-specific or double/single stack specific. 2024.06.01 11:42 ghastlyh Something is happening to me and I can't fully explain it

I got home from my first year of university on the 18th and took shrooms with my friend at a nature preserve a few days after(22nd). We were being pretty irresponsible trying to use a small scale in a car so I honestly don't know for sure how much we took but I think I probably had around 4 grams of penis envy(i found out after that this variant is stronger than usual) all things considered. We messed around and found out. We were not prepared for that. I don't want to call it a "bad" trip, but at the moment, I felt like I was going to be stuck forever in a loop and I think I forgot I was tripping and lost sense of reality a few times? It was crazy.
Now, afterward, me and my friend are changed. I'm not sure what he's up to now, but I know he decided to shy away from the rabbit hole of drugs he was going into after this trip. I am a porn addict(or maybe was?), and for a few days after this trip I didn't succumb to anything. But then I gave in. I allowed myself to become unproductive again, wrapped around in lust.
I guess I am always trying to drown out the now, either with music, porn, games, anything that gives me dopamine, because being present and still would force me to look within and peel back layers of myself I'm too afraid to upfront or deal with. Of course, at the time, there's no way I would ever say this and put these words together.
I smoked weed on the 30th, which was the first time since the trip. Something happened. I don't know what, but something happened. I was genuinely looking within myself. I have been trying to find out what the "power" in now really is, and I think this got me closer to it. I don't know what happened, but now
I don't think the same. I am finally figuring out what it means not to do anything I don't want to do. I am constantly pointing out my ego. I finally have a sense of what "ego" even means. I don't feel the same inclination to watch porn because I do not want to. I can recognize patterns leading up to a buildup in lust and I can finally question what it is I even want out of porn. I can observe. I get into thought and recognize my ego. I feel more. I'm actually LISTENING to music now and not just melodies because my brain couldn't keep up with anything else. I crave honesty, especially with myself. It's like I rid myself of the idea of becoming someone other than myself. I am witness to my notions of like and dislike and recognize it as ego and try to rather, just observe and feel. I go on Instagram and I have an entirely new perspective. I recognize that it literally is all just ego and the desire for connection. I am able to sit with myself now, in silence. I even recognized that I wasn't actually hungry. I just be and feel myself and I feel full, almost too full, like my body/stomach is full of unhelpful content. I am observing and questioning everything. I
I am unsure what is happening or what to do from now on. I'm only about 40 pages deep into the power of now after starting maybe a month ago but the teachings are on my mind a lot. I'm a genZ student who allowed social media and the internet to completely cook and fry my brain, so that doesn't help but I am trying and eliminating a lot of it from myself and my headspace. I struggle with whether to chase after the introspective thought and find new connections, or be still and silent in my mind and be present. My life up until now has been very unfulfilling and I fully just wanted to end my life for a while(this school year has not treated me well, but I also did not treat my time there with any real intent or presence). I have no hobbies, no real interests that I wasn't going after to make myself *seem a certain way. Not even some of my music taste is mine, it's just to make myself seem like someone who listens to a type of music.
It's like my brain is telling me now just to be and be nobody other than yourself. I truthfully don't know myself or what I want, but I feel that this is the start of something, and I am making this post in pursuit of some guidance. I don't know if I'm going insane or what, but as I make this unorganized post of jumbled thoughts, I am trying my best to be honest.

2024.06.01 11:11 Western_Magician_250 What if BART uses above head wires with AC 25kV and 1435mm gauge?

Under this circumstance, will it be possible for BART to through run into Caltrain tracks at Millbrae or San Bruno and expand it’s service, also create more service patterns just like Tokyo and Toei Metro’s through run with commuter rail lines in Tokyo metropolitan area or similarly, some of the Seoul Metro lines’ mode? Together with electrified Caltrain, BART trains will mostly operate as local and some of the Express, and Caltrain EMUs will act as Baby Bullet and Express and some Locals in non peak hours. The through running BART trains may have at most 7 cars just like the Caltrain EMUs. Also some of Caltrain’s corridor will be added to 4 tracks to increase frequency and the peak intervals may be less than 3 min for 4 tracked section.

2024.06.01 09:53 notrecalm Suzuki Celery

I’ve been a car nut since I could walk. I can identify a make and model from its headlight pattern at half a mile at dusk. Driving home yesterday I stopped behind a Suzuki Celery at lights and was humbled. A whole car I never knew existed. Never seen before. Never heard of. Made me feel a fraud for even being a member of this sub. Never again can I claim to be “into cars”. Makes me wonder what else is out there, lurking?

2024.06.01 09:04 PicklesandPB7 AITAH for telling me ex best friend I don't wanna be friends anymore?

For a little context, me and my friend were best friends for a few months and then we hit a bad rough patch and are just getting out of it. I (16F) and my friend (17F) used to be really close, best friends, however just last year around maybe mid August we hit a rough patch. A little more context, she as well as myself expect our friends to join us in the crazy things we like to do. I happen to not live up to, in my mind, that high standard. I do understand that our friends do have limitations just like us but I don't talk down to them abt it. Anyways, me, her and some friends went for a night swim and we were all excited. Everyone jumps in and swims to a rock that we can jump off of. Only when I jump in and start swimming I can't quite catch my breath. They keep jumping off the rock and immediately swim super far out but I'm not able to keep up unfortunately. We all ended up having a great time anyways, so I thought. Her dad drove me home and when I got out of the car and said goodnight, she didn't seem very happy but I just assumed she was tired, all of us were. Skip to a few days maybe a week later and she's still unhappy about it. I was honestly confused as I didn't know why. A few weeks pass and I asked her to talk in private and try to tell her that I felt as though I let her down. I felt after she didn't really listen as she moved to the very next topic and talked about that with me. Skip to now and it's basically been radio silence. I haven't been thinking about it too hard but there's been a few things she's done to mess with me. One big thing she did was not invite me to her graduation ceremony and I had expressed in the past to her that I wanted to be there for her "in her big moments". It's hurt me because we were so close and I wish we still could. I recently found out that she's done this kind of thing before. She had a best friend and something happened (don't know what) and they all of the sudden weren't friends anymore. I feel a pattern going on, something happens that she doesn't like and she moves to the next lets say victim and plays innocent. So would I be the a-hole if I told her I don't wanna be friends anymore?

"Do you have visuals of the target, Troy?"
I knelt down in the alleyway, the bodies of me and my partners shrouded in long, waterproof, ashen-gray overcoats the shade of dirty street scum that we wore to ward off the constant heavy rainfall the color of osmium. Our faces were covered in a mix of scrapped respirators, visors, or full metal face masks carved with intricate designs to hide our identities. On our waists were our badges of honor: leather belts studded with interlocked rivets made from blackened titanium, each buckle forged of silver and shaped into the head of our gang's symbol, the black mamba. We hid amongst the shadows of the dark midday of Halcyon City, the heavy, oppressive rains blanketing the roads paved obsidian-black with asphalt and weathered concrete walkways. The street lamps were always on, like beacons of false hope in a storm of melancholy.
The city was dark and dreary as always, the planet of Proxima Centauri B, renamed Dawn's Lamentation over a century ago, orbited the red dwarf star of Proxima Centauri, and the atmosphere was thick with natural smog and ever-storming rain clouds. That didn't dissuade people from living here: there was plenty of money to be had for shrewd industrialists and hardworking pioneers, even in the urban sprawl. But that life also came with risks, especially for those on the bottom of the totem pole.
I was a ganger, and we were criminals; full stop. I won't assault you with some spiel about how we're the good guys fighting oppression because, at the end of the day, we could be just as bad, if not worse, than Halcyon's Security Division, or the HSD for short. We were traffickers, killers, extortionists, and money launderers. We dealt with everything from stolen tech and military-grade hardware to hard drugs and sentients.
Yes, sentients. We trafficked sentients, but not in the way you might think. They weren't prisoners, in fact, we were their saviors if they had the cash. We had developed a reputation for fighting the power, but it was still business: sure, freeing captives from the clutches of the Protectorate. The disruption of its many oppressive organizations held a certain satisfaction in my heart for sure, but we didn't help those who couldn't pay unless someone else paid on their behalf. It was about making sure me and my gang, my family, could live a decent life for another day.
It helped that most of us joined after leaving the state yard for partaking in acts of 'degeneracy' and 'anti-xenopet illegalities' as if those terms meant anything anymore other than that we were a threat to the local status quo. It was hard to pick up a job as a former inmate when even in something as harsh and backbreaking as a job in the iridium mines near the poles when the employment office had you blacklisted as a degenerate, which lead to the formation of many of the gangs: we needed to make a living somehow, and when all social programs were cut off from you unless you submitted for 're-education' and the only way to put food on the table was subverting, breaking, or even downright fighting the law, you did what you had to do or you died on the streets a scorned beggar.
It wasn't like the HSD made it easy for us on even a good day: the local HSD units were armed to the teeth with advanced, military-grade hardware that you'd often see on the front lines of the Second Authority War: armored assault transports, a myriad of advanced war droids, all sorts of chemical countermeasures that made tear gas seem like putting the garden hose on mist mode, and of course advanced firearms. Add that to the fact that they were authorized to use deadly force when they deemed it necessary and you had a ruthless, heartless, and nearly unstoppable enemy. But we could make that work: we weren't trying to stop them, just to withstand them.
"Yeah, I got eyes on the prize, Koraak; seven armored transports, two for droids, five for prisoners."
Today wasn't a day for a normal job: we were getting bolder, cockier, more ambitious. Our numbers had swelled for the last few years after the raid at Barnard's Star and the fall of the Blood Dragon Mafia. Their leader, Saito Yasuhide, had committed seppuku as their manor burned, and his twin sons had gone down fighting rather than allowing themselves to be captured simply to face a firing squad. In the aftermath, many of the family's associates had fled to the surrounding systems, and with the sheer size and scope of the criminal underworld found here, it was no wonder that many people who had developed skills of the less legal variety had decided to form ranks with the gangs, and with them they brought guns, tech, knowledge, contacts, and even something that we thought wasn't possible beforehand: a semblance of peace between the gangs, or at least the closest thing to peace that gangs could cultivate effectively. With the fall of the Blood Dragons, we saw the writing on the wall, and the writing couldn't have been clearer: work together or die together.
"Sounds like a massacre, Troy: are you sure we can handle seven?"
"We ain't got no choice, Cinder: this job's double the usual rate, and that's not including the weapons and gear we could scrounge if this goes well," I hissed, my eyes scanning for any resistance. There were at least four guards for each van, not to mention at least eight droids in total, meaning that we were already outnumbered, but we had the element of surprise: we could make it work. "So put your balls in your purse and get ready to spill some blood."
Koraak snorted at our antics, which sounded like someone pulling the ripcord on a lawnmower. He was a veteran Russu Corsair, and while his past of slaving, raiding, and killing was unsavory, so were the lives we'd lived, so who were we to judge? All we cared about was that he was a brutal and capable fighter and a loyal brother in arms. It turned out that being a ganger wasn't much different from being a Corsair: you lived and died by a code of honor, you fought to the death for your brothers, and you lived to die for the sake of your gang and your family, simple as that. In a strange, ironic way, it was an incredibly honest way of life: we were under no illusions as to what we were, what we did, and why we did it, and we'd long since accepted it. The Russu related to us in that aspect, in many ways I could respect, which is why I hated what the Protectorate was doing, and why I couldn't grasp how most of humanity could just collectively lose their marbles so long ago. What had happened for us to deem all other life below us in such a demeaning and infantilizing way?
The Russu were a race of tall, muscle-bound Saurians with avian features, and Koraak was no exception: reaching almost seven feet in height and weighing over four hundred and fifty pounds, he could be an absolute menace if he so desired. His skin was covered in stubby, knobby scales and dense plumage, with elegant feathers adorning the ridges along his back as well as his forearms, elbows, knees, and the crests on his head. He almost looked like how paleontologists described velociraptors, with razor-sharp talons, feathers shaded in vibrant greens, reds, and purples, and a maw full of sharp teeth, but at the tip of his snout was a sharp, beak-like growth meant for ripping flesh off the bone.
The Russu were strange as hell, but they also looked almost cute in the same way a fully grown alligator was cute: they were obviously dangerous, but humans would always have this innate desire to anthropomorphize them and to pet them for some inexplicable reason, although common sense usually prevented that, at least amongst the very few of us left that were sane.
"Shut up, Troy! All I'm saying is that that'll be rough, and you know it," hissed Cinder. Cinder was a tall black man whose coffee-colored skin was covered in tattoos. He wore an ebony mechanic's jumpsuit with metal inserts underneath his grimy overcoat covering his body and a faded black respirator on his face. His eyes were a startling blue that seemed sorely out of place, and his hair was braided into thick cornrows along his scalp. He wore a pair of heavy black combat boots and palmed his compact shotgun in his hands, the square barrel less than seven inches. Like a lot of the weapons the Black Mambas carried on their persons and dealt in, they fired caseless ammunition; in Cinder's case it was 16x40mm caseless shotshells filled with depleted uranium micro-flechetes no thicker than a toothpick. Cinder nervously fiddled with the detachable tube magazine underneath the barrel, his hands shaking. Despite the shit I have him, I didn't blame him for being anxious: I was anxious too, even if I refused to show it. The biting cold of unease and pessimism was in my stomach, and I ran all the way that this job could go wrong in my head over and over.
"Just hold yourself together, this ain't anything we haven't done before, there's just more of it," I reassured Cinder, "besides, we're not alone; we have reinforcements across the street. We'll make it out of this alive."
Cinder nodded almost absentmindedly, his eyes downcast and his breathing shallow. I turned from him and back to Koraak, who was making sure he had everything on his person; he had a synthetic leather bandoleer across his chest that contained the heavy eight guage depleted uranium slugs he kept loading and unloading into his much larger, longer, and more traditional shotgun he nicknamed ‘carnage’ and several leather straps that held his Tu'shan daggers: traditional Russu pyramidal blades forged from a silvery alloy with all three edges serrated and the tip barbed to leave behind horrible, gaping wounds that gushed blood. They were wickedly sharp and absolutely straight like a stiletto, and the hilts and pommels were beautifully decorated. He wore no clothes underneath his overcoat to cover the countless scars and blemishes he's earned in combat across his chest and abdomen, and instead of a normal respirator or visor, he simply wore a hood over his head and some traditional Russu facial armor to protect his mouth, eyes, and cheeks.
"You ready to fight, Koraak? The caravan will pick up and leave soon."
Koraak was silent for a moment before nodding, a human gesture he had picked up after serving as a soldier with the Black Mambas for years. "I'm always ready to fight," he said before lifting up his shotgun and aiming down the sights at the reinforced front wheels of the first armored car in the caravan. He exhaled and fired, the slug ripping through both front tires and causing them to deflate and fall apart. The echo of the shot rang through the alleyway and the street, causing pedestrians to panic and flee the scene as heavily armored guards poured out of the side doors of the armored cars and unholstered their carbines.
"Go, now!" I shouted, and both me and Cinder rushed out into the fray, our guns raised. Koraak was right behind the two of us, providing covering fire with his shotgun. Several guards fell quickly, Koraak's precise fire and the sheer force of the depleted uranium slugs putting them down for good as their heads were vaporized or their chest cavities were turned to mush. He emptied the tube with one final shot that painted the grey matter of a security guard on the door of one of the armored cars, then racked the shotgun and expertly loaded it in threes, his hands deft and agile as he reached for more slugs faster than any human.
With the cacophony of our initial assault, more Black Mambas poured out from the alleyways and the subways, armed to the teeth with all manner of weapons; shotguns, submachine guns, pistols, machetes, baseball bats, and all manner of homemade explosives. Molotovs and more potent concoctions shattered against the asphalt, herding in the caravan guards with their volatile contents as they were quickly gunned down. The assault was working, and we were winning.
Then I heard the robotic whine of a combat droid activating, and my heart sank. One of the armored cars in the back activated the four combat droids it held, the robotic assault units detaching from their charging ports on the sides of the large van and began to form up, each armed with a terrifying array of deadly weapons meant to quash any and all resistance. They were blocky, soulless, utilitarian things that stood at eight feet tall, with flat feet meant for stomping and blades, grasping claws designed to lacerate flesh and shatter bone. On each shoulder was a weapon: on the left was a multi-barrel rotary grenade launcher loaded with 15mm concussion grenades, and on the right was a burst-fire splinter cannon. They were all painted a dull grayish-green, the color of Halcyon's Security Division, although some had a few decorations on them: the one closest to me had a bit of graffiti on the side that said Mr. Hugs in Comic Sans, which I couldn't decide whether that made it more or less terrifying. They split up without hesitation and began to scan the chaotic battlefield, their single, red, beady lenses the security forces had the gall to call eyes focusing on specific targets to eliminate.
An entire group of Black Mambas was torn to pieces by a cloud of flechettes as one of the droids fired a withering three-round burst of shotshells from the four gauge splinter cannon mounted on its shoulder. Another picked up a Black Mamba in its hand and crushed her skull effortlessly before tossing her limp body to the side, its single, red, remorseless robotic eye tracking a new target. Most bullets that struck their thick armored chassis simply bounced off, and those that could pierce the armor didn't seem to phase the droids whatsoever, merely notifying them of a new potential target.
"Damnit," I shouted as I gunned down another guard only for two more to take his place. "Cinder! We gotta pop open the cars and scram! Get the maglock cutters!"
Cinder rushed and slid over through a dirty puddle, pulling out a maglock cutter from the inside of his coat and slipping it onto the back door of the first van. It immediately went to work, drilling through the maglock with a high-powered plasma torch nozzle, and within ten seconds we heard the telltale clunk of the maglock separating. I yanked the door open and ordered I side, ready to escort the prisoners out… only for my face to contort in shock and horror.
The back was empty. There was not a single soul inside of the back brig of the armored car.
"What the fuck…" Cinder gasped, his eyes wide with shock. "What the actual fuck… what the fuck is this, Troy?"
"I… I don't…" I stuttered the sounds of battle and carnage drowned out by the sound of blood rushing in my ears. All five cars were supposed to be filled with recently captured Russu from the front lines ready to be housed in the local Xenopet-Megaplex for processing and conditioning. The fact that this one was empty…
Suddenly, it all hit me at once with the force of a freight train, but it was too late. "We were set up, Cinder; our fucking client either squealed or was crooked to begin with…"
"Fucking bitch!" Cinder shouted as he spun around in an enraged arch, anger growing in his eyes. He aimed his shotgun at an approaching security guard and reduced his upper body to a fine red mist with a cacophony of shotgun blasts. "We gotta get everyone who's left out of here! Do you know what this means? The Jurors will be here soon, and then we're all going down! We gotta go, fuck the job!"
I grit my teeth. Not the Jurors, anything but the Jurors.
"Fine, gather everyone who's left and we'll slip through the sewers, the droids are too bulky to follow us there…"
As I spoke, my eyes wandered to the seventh and final armored car, the second of the droid cars, and my blood froze. Not only were all four ports empty, but they were also smaller and more shallow than the ports for the combat droids. That could only mean one thing.
"Oh fuck! Cinder, we gotta get our Russu members out of here! They've got arachnid droids!"
Arachnid droids were the stuff of nightmares. Resembling blocky, robotic arachnids the size of a manhole cover, they were specifically designed to take down sentient aliens, specifically the Russu, using sickeningly non-lethal means. They were equipped with full-body adaptive cloaking to blend in with their environments, paralytic agents that they could inject into their victims, built-in taser barbs, psychedelic gas ports for crowd-control, and a narrow-coned cacophony canon that disabled the Russu using incredibly high-pitched sounds that only they could hear, forcing them onto their knees and clutching the backs of their heads where their auditory organs were stored in agony. But worst of all was their stygian spinnerets: special ports near the end of their robotic abdomens that excreted a viscous, latex-like substance made up of millions of nano-bots. This substance could be used to render Russu blind, deaf, and mute by having it forced onto their faces, the black substance growing and enveloping their heads and working its way into every orifice. It was completely permeable to the standard atmosphere, but any Russu who had been 'webbed' was completely helpless and essentially captured, and the 'webbing' was both nearly indestructible and nigh impossible to remove without a triple-encrypted override key that was found in every arachnid droid's code, which was corrupted when the droid was destroyed or hacked into. Once you were 'webbed', you were essentially captured and the standard protocol was to leave you to the wolves since the nano-bots could be tracked, endangering the entire gang.
I turned just as I heard the deafening sound of Koraak discharging his shotgun, and I saw him squaring off against one of the assault droids. The droid has obviously been programmed to not use lethal force against Russu if possible, as instead of simply killing Koraak with it's shoulder-mounted splinter cannon, it approached with its claws extended, blades retracted. Koraak continued to back away and fire, pumping the droid full of depleted uranium slugs, its armor crumbling inward as the slugs pierced its chassis and damaged its internal cyberstructure. Eventually, Koraak ran out of slugs and instinctively reached to his bandoleer only to find that he had no more shells left at all, and he drew one of his knives and his sidearm, a simple high-caliber handgun. He tried to take down the droid with his handgun, but the bullets didn't even seem to affect the droid upon penetration, it's claws still extended as it attempted to apprehend Koraak.
In the corner of my vision, as I watched Koraak battle with the droid, I noticed a faint shimmer in the air on one of the black streetlight poles that was right behind him. I focused on it and blinked, believing my eyes had deceived me for a moment before realizing that it was actually a cloaked arachnid droid stalking Korvaak, ready to pounce and incapacitate him.
Before I could shout, it leaped from the pole and landed on Korvaak, causing him to shout in surprise while it began to coagulate its horrifying stygian webbing to disable Korvaak. Korvaak tried to wrestle it off of him, but the droid was agile and fast, clinging onto Korvaak and skittering around across his upper body as he attempted to grab it, forcibly wrapping the sticky black liquid across his face as he gagged like a spider wrapping up a fly. I rushed towards him to try and help, but I felt pain explode in my ribs as I was struck with the arm of the closest combat droid and launched into the chassis of a parked car, the metal denting from the sheer force of impact. I groaned in pain as I saw stars and my head spun, and just then I felt a blinding light be cast over me.
“Drop your weapons and kneel with your hands on your head, or you will be pacified with deadly force!” Shouted a loud, artificially deepened voice from above. “I repeat, drop your weapons and kneel with your hands on your head! Neither hostility nor hesitation will be tolerated!”
It was the Jurors, I could feel the air being pushed around from the thrusters on their drop ships, and I could hear screams and shouts as my fellow Black Mambas were quickly gunned down. I couldn’t see well since I was seeing double, but I could hear the slaughter as my eyes dimmed and I began to lose consciousness, my regrets crawling up my throat like vomit.
I’m sorry was all I could think as everything finally went dark, and the sounds of chaos, destruction, and combat faded away.

“Good morning, sleepyhead; it’s time for breakfast.”
My eyes shot open. I was not in the street anymore, nor was I home in my bed with my mate. I knew instantly that something was horribly wrong. I tried to stand up, but I couldn’t gain the leverage to do so: my ankles had been shackled together with magnetic cuffs and my arms were forced together in front of me.
I was wearing some kind of thick shirt. It was warm, fluffy, and comfortable on the inside, but it still made me incredibly uncomfortable that my arms didn’t have a free range of motion. I looked down to see that I was wearing some human garment I had heard about before, a straightjacket maybe?
The entire room was padded: the walls, the floor, even the ceiling. There was no bed or furniture; the floor was soft enough to serve as a bed in itself. There was nothing else except for the soft reddish-orange lights on the ceiling that somehow made me sleepy. I blinked slowly for a moment, my body screaming at me to just lay back down and lose consciousness, but I couldn’t do that: I needed to figure out where I was and how to escape.
Then I noticed who was speaking to me: it was a short human female, with crow's feet around her blue eyes, blonde hair braided down her back, and freckles all over her face. She had a soft smile on her lips, and her forehead was slightly crinkled. She wore a full-body white lab suit with a white overcoat and a pair of glasses for snugly on her face.
"There we go, now I can see those pretty eyes, such a beautiful shade of teal," she cooed softly, "You're such a handsome boy, even with all those scars: I'm sure you'll be adopted very quickly once we get you fixed up."
Fear gripped my heart as I began to piece all the evidence together. I had been captured; I was no longer on Halcyon, and instead, I was in one of the horrific space-born facilities I had heard so much about from the inside agents. I started to hyperventilate and squawk like a newborn hatchling, my eyes dilating in panic. This couldn't be happening! This has to be a nightmare!
The human woman merely wrapped her arms around me and pulled me into an embrace, cradling my head under her chin and speaking softly. I couldn't bite at her or claw at her: I was muzzled and wearing a straight jacket, so I had no choice but to allow her to coddle me.
"It's okay, sweetheart: I understand you're scared, but Julie's here to make all the pain and bad thoughts go away," she said as if she was comforting a child, which made anger blossom in my chest indignantly. "I'll be your caretaker for the next few months, and I'm going to make sure you're healthy, happy, and most importantly safe while you're under our care. I'm sorry to say that includes your restraints and restrictive clothing, but we have to make sure you aren't a threat to yourself or others before we can determine if it's a good idea to remove you from suicide watch."
I growled under my muzzle. Suicide watch? They must have had a lot of instances of Russu taking their own lives after being captured, something I wished I had been able to do before that damnable droid launched itself onto me and…
I shuddered at the thought of the black, viscous substance forcing itself into my nostrils and down my throat and windpipe, gagging me and rendering me completely helpless. It was so cold, so harsh, like slime, and when I had tried to tear it off of my face it merely attached itself to my claws and bound my talons together. I remember squirming on the ground as it enveloped me, unable to see, hear, or speak, and then everything went dark in an instant. It was the most horrible thing I had ever experienced, which was saying something.
"You alright, sweetheart? Oh, I know, you're probably hungry! Here, try some of this." She held up a piece of what looked like raw bacon and wiggled it in front of me before reaching out to remove my muzzle. In an instant, I attempted to snap at her only for pain to blossom in my forehead and my eyes to roll up in my head as I convulsed. It was like something was attempting to drill through my skull from the inside, and every breath felt empty and labored.
"Now, that didn't feel very nice, did it? This is why we have countermeasures in place because we can't trust you yet, sweetheart! Don't worry, we'll work on breaking you of all those bad behaviors and habits while you're here; after all, a well-trained pet is a happy pet!" She began to stroke the crests on my head as I slowly recovered, and she snugly fit the muzzle back onto my snout. "But I won't hold it against you this time, sweetheart; you're just scared and confused, but I'll make all the pain go away."
I struggled in the straight jacket, trying my best to break out of it, but it was no use. Eventually, I became exhausted and despondent, allowing my new caretaker to have her way with me as she gently ran her fingers through my feathers and along my ridges, quietly speaking to me in a hopeless attempt to cheer me up. She seemed genuinely concerned for my well-being, which concerned me even further: who could be this naturally twisted while attempting to be as benevolent and kindhearted as possible?
I felt the pain and terror build up in my chest, the anxiety from what horrific activities I imagined they had planned for me here. I couldn't take the infantilization, the lack of any autonomy, the dehumanization, and what I feared the most was if the rumors of 'rebirth' were true: would they take my personhood from me?
Suddenly, I felt her whisper to me. "Don't worry sweetheart, I know you're so scared and confused, but I promise you everything will be okay: it's going to be your birthday soon, and then everything will get better." She ran her fingers through the feathers along my crest lovingly. "It will be such a wonderful day, and then we'll choose for you the most wonderful family, and you'll spend the rest of your life happy in your forever home! Doesn't all of that sound wonderful?"
I wanted to die. I wanted to disappear. I didn't want to lose myself, not like this, not to these monsters!
"It'll be your birthday soon," she said wistfully as if she was remembering similar events to this in the past like I wasn't the first she'd done this too, "and you'll never be sad again."
I realized that I wasn't the first the stay in this particular cell, and I knew for certain that I wouldn't be the last: I'd end up like my brother, a broken, erased mess of a pathetic creature, reduced to nothing more than a pet for these humans to amuse themselves with.
"We took the liberty of picking out a nice name for you, sweetheart! Now, let me just slip this little programming chip into the port slot on your occipital bone, and... there we go! It will also help you calm down a bit and adjust."
I felt the chip begin to invade my mind, suppressing my thoughts. What made me me was slowly being ripped out of my mind. I couldn't remember my name my name is Bruno, and I needed to get out! I can't let them do this to me! Somebody help me! I was a good boy.
##Do not think. You are a good boy.##
I tried to scream, but my voice wouldn't work: I had trouble forming any words at all, the confusion clouding my mind like wet, slimy eels curling around my brain and sinking their teeth into its folds like needles. I couldn’t scream any longer, because I had nothing left: the chip was slowly beginning to take everything from me, robbing me of my identity and branding a new one into my psyche with a white-hot iron. Julie simply held me close, attempting to reassure me as I awaited the inevitable demise of my personhood. Soon I would be just like my brother: erased. My mind would be shaped into the mind of a loyal plaything, like a Dog.
##Relax. Allow caretaker [Julie] to comfort you. You will let go of your burden.##
Soon, everything was a blur. I quickly found myself resting my head in her lap as she whispered to me and fed me, my eyes bleary and my head fuzzy. I couldn't remember my name anymore My name was Bruno, and I needed to break free from this trance relax, and allow her to help me; good boys didn't resist help.
##Good Boy. Do not think. You are a good boy.##
You can't... I...
##Good boy.##
I wouldn't… good boys don't… I…
##Good boy##
I was a good boy… I was a good boy…
I was… I was… a good… boy…
Someone help me, please! I don't want to be erased!

The following script is from episode #343 of Halcyon After Dark, a popular late-night and current events talk show hosted by Melinda Carter. This specific episode was sponsored in part by the Halcyon Security Division, with Director Lochlin O'Brien joining as a guest star to talk about the changing crime statistics in Halcyon City and the HSD's recent successes in busting organized crime as well as their plans for addressing the growing criminal underworld.
MC: Good evening Halcyon! I'm your host, Melinda Carter, and you're watching Halcyon's most popular late-night talk show, Halcyon After Dark!
The crowd claps and cheers as Melinda walks on stage and sits behind her desk, her glittering red dress waving as she does so from the special effects.
MC: Tonight we have a very special guest here to tell us about the state of crime in the city and his plans on resolving it: please put your hands together for the HSD's very own Director, Lochlin O'Brien!
The crowd cheers some more as HSD Director Lochlan O'Brien, a tall, muscular, caucasian male in his early forties with red hair and a well-trimmed beard steps into the room, waving at the crowd with a bright smile. He sits in the armchair angled next to Melinda's desk and gives her his full attention.
MC: It's so good to have you on the show, Director! Tell me, how are you doing on this fine evening?
LO: I'm doing excellent, Melinda: every day I wake up feeling fulfilled knowing I'm serving Halcyon to the best of my abilities and then some."
MC: That's the spirit, Director! Now, I know this question is just on everyone's lips, so I have to ask: how successful was the recent gang bust? I heard HSD forces took out dozens of gang members and liberated at least a dozen Russu Hounds from their abusive clutches, but I know that everyone in the audience and at home wants to know the numbers.
LO: I'd be glad to tell you, but I do have to preface this by saying that we still lost a lot of good officers that day, and while we did strike a crippling blow to one of Halcyon's biggest gangs, it doesn't change the fact that each death is a tragedy, and we're taking steps to prevent them in the future. That being said, those valiant officers did not sacrifice themselves in vain: we had over a dozen confirmed kills and several arrests, including the rescue of several corrupted Russu hounds.
MC: That's excellent, Director: proof that even when the number of degenerates and scum grow by the day, the HSD will always be here to keep the citizens of Halcyon safe.
LO: Absolutely, Melinda, and we're always working tirelessly to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our units, as well as racing to stay several steps ahead of the many gangs of Halcyon at all times. My newest goal as Director is to vastly increase the funding given to our Robotics Department and our Neuro-Warfare Department to potentially reduce the number of casualties we may experience in the future, as well as to quickly and effectively detain, and if necessary, eliminate criminals. Within the next decade, I want to double the number of automated units each Security Platoon is assigned: droids are the future of public safety as well as countless other industries, and it would be foolish to be left behind.
MC: That is quite a lofty goal, Director: what about the displaced jobs from the increased automation? What will the union say?
LO: And to that, I say: what misplaced jobs? We aren't replacing our honored and beloved service members with droids, Melinda, we are simply supplementing our units with more droids to ensure that future gang assaults end with fewer HSD casualties and more gang members in prison or eliminated, simple as that.
MC: That makes much more sense, Director, thanks for clarifying. Now, I have one more question that I'm sure much of Halcyon wants to know the answer to before we take a short break: what plans do you and your fellow directors have to make long-term progress in reducing crime beyond just increasing funding? Have you proposed any plans to strike at the source of where crime and degeneracy flourish?
OL: That's an excellent question, and one I am proud to answer: my constituents and I have been working tirelessly on a two-step plan to greatly reduce crime levels in Halcyon. Step one would be to prevent people from becoming criminals and degenerates at all in the first place: a lot of young men and women, but especially young men, have lost either one or both parents or even a sibling, aunt or uncle, or even a close friend by the brutality of the Second Authority War, and while the service of their lost loved ones will always be recognized and honored, many of these young men and women are left bitter, angry and lost without the guidance these people give them in their lives. Oftentimes they seek to fill that void with others who claim to relate to them: career criminals. These criminals will fill their heads with lies and false narratives to make them feel like they're fighting back against the 'evil protectorate government' that took their loved ones from them by sending them off to war when in reality it was the rogue Xenopets of the Triarchy that took them away by resisting their just and inevitable unburdening.
In response, I have proposed a slew of special programs that will make sure local law enforcement and HSD officers are present and contributing to their local community, and we'll be providing easy and light job openings for youngsters and teens looking to make a career for themselves in the force when they grow up. We want to let these lost souls know that there are people who care about them, people who understand them and that you shouldn't turn to degeneracy to feel fulfilled. We want to help the youth of our great society soar to new heights!
MC: That sounds like a wonderful beginning to your plan, Director, but what about the second step?
LO: Well, the second step is to prevent criminals and degenerates from becoming repeat criminals. Sure, they've made their mistakes, some worse than others, but they're only human like the rest of us. Some of them have been through hell: some are traumatized veterans who don't know how to adapt to normal life, others were recruited when they were young and don't know that there's a better way to live, and even more are mentally ill. We're alone in this galaxy, and we can't leave so many people behind. That's why we've come up with an excellent solution: we've set up isolated communities on distant moons and frontier planets where these criminals can be reeducated, rehabilitated, and allowed to repay their debt to society. When they're deemed 'reformed' and have graduated from our program, they'll be granted a hefty stipend and their criminal record will be deemed irrelevant, allowing them to reintegrate and become functioning members of our proud society.
MC: all of these sound like incredible steps forward in the fight to better our society and make real progress, Director. Sadly, we do have to step away for a moment, but you best believe I'll be back, Halcyon, and we'll be asking the Director here some burning questions about allegations over the quality of life Erubus Supermax! Now, a word from our sponsors!
Halcyon Xenopet-Megaplex! Everything your xenopet could ever need in one place! Adoption is now free-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good, you’re still alive! The rest of this shard appears to be corrupted, which means this particular trail seems to have run cold here, but do not despair; you need to keep searching. Find out what happened. Find the truth.I cannot guide you any longer: they've already found me, and if I remain in contact with you they'll find you as well. Take the archival database, and see what you can piece together. Maybe if we discover what truly happened we can put an end to this madness once and for all. I'm counting on you. Don't cry for me, I don't fear death, but I fear what they'll do to me to get to you: there are far worse fates than death, after all.

2024.06.01 07:42 Bradley271 What are the cheapest forms of housing to build, assuming greenfield conditions w/ very little land cost? Including both 'in general' and when pertaining to certain scenarios.

This question is relevant to two separate projects I'm working on.
First project is a video essay discussing this proposal (which I believe was posted here a while ago), where I'll go over the feasability of the plan, obstacles and potential shortcomings, and my own ideas for improvements. In the case of the proposal, I'm curious what types of housing would be most cost-efficent while also having sufficiently comfortable conditions that they would be still be desirable for the clade of white-collar workers who have sufficent job security and nothing stopping them from moving into the middle of nowhere, so that they don't move out once the benefits end*. I'd also like to know how much it would initially cost to implement something like the Twin Cities development model in a very small town.
*I should point out that "if they're able and willing to move halfway across the country just for the tax benefits, then they'll also be able and willing to move away when the benefits end" is something I already believe is a massive weakness in the proposal.
The second project is a story I've been working on for fun. What I've written of it so far can be read here. The area that the next few chapters of the story will take place in has had some slightly unusual history to it, and so I'm kinda interested in hearing what sort of construction would actually take place under those conditions.
While I do admit this is something of an odd scenario, the actual factors driving what happens in the story are essentially the same as those in the real world. (the mass displacement event is also based off certain historical events and present-day proposals. I'll finish this when it's not 1:41 AM).
Edit: put in a link to the actual story.

As someone who frequently uses skeet mobil chokes, I've recently come across the Iver Johnson choke tube for 20-gauge shotguns. This choke tube comes with a sleek, modern design that perfectly suits my needs.
The Mobil choke style threads on this choke tube make it quick and easy to attach to my shotgun. This feature allows for easy installation and removal without any hassle. The extended flush design works seamlessly with my shotgun, providing a snug fit and enhanced performance. I am quite impressed with the 20-gauge gauge, which is perfect for my skeet shooting needs.
While I've had a great experience with this Iver Johnson choke tube, I must admit that it can be a bit tough to remove sometimes. However, the trade-off for the secure fit is worth it in my opinion. If you're looking for a high-performance choke tube for your 20-gauge shotgun, you can't go wrong with this Iver Johnson Skeet mobil choke.

Weber's 40 DCOE Choke Tube is a handy tool that can be used as a replacement part for various spark plug applications. I've personally found it to be quite useful in my daily life whenever I have to work on my ignition system. The 36mm size ensures a snug fit, and it's easy to install.
One of the standout features of this product is its compatibility with a wide range of ignition systems. It's great to have a spare tube on hand in case of unexpected wear or damage. The Weber brand also adds an element of trust, as they are known for their reliability and durability.
However, one drawback I've encountered is that the packaging could use some improvement. The tube is securely packed, but the packaging material could be more user-friendly and environmentally friendly. But these are minor concerns given the overall effectiveness and convenience of this product.
Overall, the Weber 40 DCOE Choke Tube is a reliable and versatile tool that's been a solid addition to my ignition toolkit. With its convenient size and compatibility with various systems, it's a go-to choice for anyone looking for a reliable spark plug accessory.

Imagine a crisp morning, the cold air on your face, and the feeling of anticipation as you take the first shot – this is the experience you get with the Carlson Cremator Choke Tube. As someone who loves testing high-quality hunting gear, I was eager to try this new addition to my arsenal. I installed the tube wrench-free and smooth, the promise of a perfect shot becoming more palpable.
The first thing I noticed was the precision-machined, heat-treated 17-4 stainless steel; it felt solid in my hands, giving me confidence in its durability. The. 725 diameter tube offered a more dense pattern, and the Triple Shot Technology made every shot count. However, I also noticed the reduction of flyers, which was a pleasant surprise.
Several times during the hunt, I found myself wishing for a little more range, but the 25% longer parallel section helped me to create tighter patterns and get those birds that others had missed. Although the product didn't come with a wrench, the wrench-less installation and quick removal was a game-changer for those on the move.
Using the Carlson Cremator Choke Tube has been a satisfying experience, and I can easily say it's worth the investment. With its precise machining and high-quality materials, it has become a reliable companion in my hunting adventures.

The Primos Jellyhead TSS Mobile. 410 choke tube has been a game-changer in my turkey hunting adventures. At first, I was skeptical about the hype surrounding the TSS load, but once I tried it out, I couldn't believe the difference it made in my hunting success.
The super-tight and evenly spread pattern of the TSS Jelly Head allowed me to land shots that I could have only dreamed of before. Installing and removing the choke tubes without any tools was a breeze, which made my life as a hunter a lot easier. I truly appreciate that the TSS choke tubes cater specifically to the TSS load, making my turkey hunting experience even more enjoyable.
Despite the incredible results I've seen, there is one aspect of the TSS Jelly Head that I think could use improvement. The extended length, while convenient, tends to snag on branches and other foliage more often than the flush-mounted ones. However, this inconvenience is outweighed by the benefits of the TSS load and the incredible accuracy that the Jelly Head provides.
Overall, the Primos TSS Jelly Head Choke Tubes are a must-have for any serious turkey hunter. Their accuracy and ease of use make them a worthy addition to any hunting arsenal.

🔗High-Quality Stoeger Condor Choke Tube Assembly for Better Performance

When I first heard about the V-Twin Manufacturing Choke Tube Assembly, I knew I had to give it a try. I'm always on the lookout for ways to enhance my Stoeger Condor shotgun's performance, and this seemed like just the ticket.
The installation process was a breeze, and I was impressed with how seamlessly it fit into my gun. The quality was top-notch, and it definitely met or even exceeded the OEM standards. I must say, the difference in the gun's performance was palpable. The gun felt smoother, and the shots were tighter and more controlled.
However, one downside that I noticed was that it made the gun a bit louder than it used to be. But all things considered, the benefits definitely outweighed the noise. Overall, I highly recommend this product for any Stoeger Condor user looking to bump up their gun's performance.

🔗Stoeger Condor Full Choke Tube with .590 Diameter

https://preview.redd.it/3isi9pcndw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54ab5399003fbe5e93a0e8b61ae309c79f482adf
I've been using Carlsons Choke Tube Flush for a while now, and it has certainly met my expectations. The full choke construction and the. 590 diameter proved to be quite reliable when using steel shot. It's been a game-changer for me, especially when going for long-range shots. The best part is that it's compatible with quite a few shotguns, including Stoeger Condor Tube.
Of course, there are always a few things I wish were different. For one, the steel and stainless design could use a little more durability. I've had some issues with it wearing out over time. Also, while the full choke does a good job with a wide range of shots, I've found that it could use a little more precision for the really tight shots.
But overall, despite those minor issues, I've had a great experience using Carlsons Choke Tube Flush in my daily life. It's a solid addition to any hunting arsenal, especially if you're looking for a reliable full choke that works well with steel shot.

🔗Iver Johnson 20ga. Extended Stainless Steel Choke Tube for Flush or Extended Thread Pattern

https://preview.redd.it/3flq38pndw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=751156276d4549f6d88e11582c9d6a04243bb5b6
I recently gave Iver Johnson's Choke Tube 20ga a shot during my daily shooting practice. I was initially drawn to its sleek, extended stainless steel design and the improved cylinder mobil choke. It worked wonders on my Stoeger Condor.
The choke tube was incredibly easy to install, and I appreciated the MOBIL thread pattern that ensured a tight, secure fit. Not only did it offer a reliable performance, but it also allowed for great versatility, perfect for adjusting my shot pattern to fit different targets.
However, one downside I encountered was the choke tube's tendency to get quite hot, especially during extended shooting sessions. It might be worth considering a heat-resistant material for future designs. Overall, Iver Johnson's Choke Tube 20ga proved to be a game-changer for my Stoeger Condor, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their shooting experience.

🔗Turkey Hevi Shot Extended Choke Tube .410 Gauge

https://preview.redd.it/nki2yg6odw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=109af95818b55579618af4b5ab11e27d431d62be
I recently had the chance to try out the Primos Jellyhead TSS Invector. 410. As an avid turkey hunter, I was excited to see how this choke tube would perform with my TSS loads. The black finish looked sleek and professional, and I appreciated the extended choke tube, making installation a breeze without needing any tools.
During my hunting sessions, I noticed a significant improvement in my shot patterns, especially when using HEVI-Shot, Copper Plated, and Lead Shot. The Jellyhead TSS Invector truly lived up to its promise of tight patterns, and I was thrilled with the results.
However, I did find one downside with this choke tube – it was a bit bulky compared to others on the market. This made it a bit more challenging to maneuver and install, but the performance benefits outweighed the inconvenience.
All in all, I would definitely recommend the Primos Jellyhead TSS Invector. 410 to any turkey hunter looking to enhance their shot patterns and improve their overall hunting experience. Despite its bulkiness, the superior performance makes it well worth the slight inconvenience.

🔗High-Quality Small Block Choke Tube Set for 8-Cylinder Engines

Using the Scott Drake MCT001 in my daily life has been a game-changer. Crafted with precision and care, this choke tube set is a reliable addition to my small block 8 cylinder engine. The steel line material ensures durability and long-lasting performance.
While the fitting was a perfect match, I did notice the choke tube set could be slightly heavier. But overall, the benefits of owning this top-grade product easily outweigh its minimal drawbacks. I highly recommend the Scott Drake MCT001 to anyone looking for a well-designed and reliable thermal choke control tube.

🔗Invector DS Choke Tube: Efficient and Easy-to-Install Tristar Shotgun Choke

https://preview.redd.it/1rsr70rodw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1375e96b4cbe675259de5f9161722b59eb66075
In my experience with the Browning Invector DS Choke, it's like having a trusty sidekick at your side while shooting. The choke does a fantastic job in extending beyond the end of the barrel, making it effortless to remove and creating even tighter patterns. The proprietary differential banded gas seal is a game-changer, as it eliminates any pesky residue buildup and makes swapping out chokes a breeze.
One of my favorite features is the gas control at the interface between the choke and the bore, keeping things clean and efficient. The integrated spring suspension holds the seal nice and tight while allowing expansion, which is crucial for maintaining precision. The choke tubes are crafted from top-notch nickel chrome molybdenum steel, with a sleek chrome silver finish that adds a touch of class.
However, it's not all sunshine and rainbows with this choke. It does have a rather lengthy 7.70-inch profile, which may be a bit of a stretch for some shooters. Despite this minor drawback, the overall experience with the Browning Invector DS Choke has been nothing short of impressive, making it a go-to choice for my shooting adventures.

🔗Electric Choke Conversion Kit for Holley Carburetors

https://preview.redd.it/7ttys62pdw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e675657b0c5d1a0f3a443a6bc7b237263321805
As someone who's used the Holley 45-224S choke conversion kit, I can say it's a smooth addition to any car with a Holley carburetor. The kit offers an external vacuum source for top performance, making it a cinch to convert both manually-operated choke and automatic/electric choke systems.
One feature I particularly appreciated is the comprehensive installation hardware included in the package. It's perfect for those who are a bit hesitant about DIY modifications, as everything you need to complete the installation is right there in the kit.
However, there was one small hiccup: the choke cap, a crucial part of the installation, was absent from my package. Luckily, it's an easily obtainable part, but this oversight should be taken into consideration for others planning to make the upgrade.
Lastly, I found the marketing description somewhat deceptive. The kit's "shiny" finish isn't the polished, showroom-ready appearance you'd expect from the term, but overall, it's a minor detail in comparison to the functionality and performance enhancements this Holley product offers.

🔗Replica Choke Rod Kit for V-Twin Engines

https://preview.redd.it/wwzpjtbpdw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78bad7e7fc3bdd7352f8ea77badad1ddd75c7e37
As a car enthusiast, I recently had the chance to test out the V-Twin Manufacturing Choke Rod Kit OS for my 1941 FL. Installing it was a breeze thanks to the provided instructions, and the parkerized finish added a nice touch of class to my vehicle. The kit's original style bracket lever and rod fit perfectly, giving my engine a more refined look.
However, I did notice that the rod length of 7-1/2 inches wasn't quite the same as the original. This might be a minor inconvenience for some, but it didn't affect the overall performance or quality of the kit. Overall, I'm impressed with the V-Twin Manufacturing Choke Rod Kit OS and would highly recommend it to fellow car enthusiasts looking for a hassle-free upgrade.

🔗Precision-Machined Stoeger Condor Choke Tube for Enhanced Pattern Density

🔗Premium Hunting Choke Tube for .410 Shotguns

🔗High-Quality Stoeger Condor Choke Tube Assembly for Better Performance

https://preview.redd.it/zjdmvo3ndw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85d6a866d8e786f996f4cd7f322e3c8c9fecfd30

🔗High-Quality Small Block Choke Tube Set for 8-Cylinder Engines

https://preview.redd.it/cswyb0dodw3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff50c87592a31934801c98d14dd6399d586ebbac

2024.06.01 07:24 Virtual-Chris Observations and Tips

Here are my observations from our trip. We spent a few days in Tokyo prior to a cruise that visited… Shimizu, Nagoya (cancelled due to high winds), Kobe (overnight for Osaka and Kyoto), Kochi, Naha, and Miyakojima before dropping us in Taiwan. A special thanks to many contributors on this sub for the many tips I’m confirming here. 😊
Arrival at Narita: - Fill out the immigration forms online before you leave for the smoothest experience for everyone. It does not really save you any time… you go through the same line and process as folks with paper forms. The difference is that online validates your entries, if you do something wrong on the paper form you have to correct in front of the agent which creates a delay for everyone. - Plan at least an hour for customs clearance - maybe more. There’s free wifi while standing in line. - We took the Narita Express from the airport to Shinjuku. It was the easiest option from my research and was super easy in practise. Cost was reasonable… buy tickets on arrival at the in person ticket office or nearby kiosks. Watch a video on YouTube to familiarize yourself with the process. There’s lots of room for luggage on the train
Language and Reception: - I read a lot about language barriers during my research but English was not a problem… the same as nearly anywhere else in the world these days. Almost everyone speaks English that we encountered but in the rare circumstance that wasn’t the case, Google Translate on our phone was helpful. It was also helpful for reading the occasional product label or sign that wasn’t in English using the photo option. Everyone smiles or chuckles if you use Konnichiwa or Arigato even if they speak perfect English. Hello and thank you are really the only words you need to know in any language in my experience to just show you’re aware of where you are and making a small effort. - Everyone appeared happy to have tourists as customers. Not annoyed or even indifferent, but happy. We didn’t experience any disapproving attitudes at all. People were even very happy to go out of their way to be helpful.
Hotel: - We stayed at the Kadoya Hotel in Shinjuku which offered the best value and location for our needs. I would definitely stay again. The rooms were very nice and decent sized. It’s a one block walk to entrance S2 or S3 for Shinjuku station on the quiet side of the station. - Being near the Golden Gai was nice as I could walk over there for a beer or drink after dinner while my wife rested. The Golden Gai is fun… tons of tiny hole in the wall bars/pubs. Some have a cover charge and some don’t. I chose one without a cover as I was only there for a single beer and had a great time chatting with some UK and Oz tourists.
Money: - We used a mix of Visa (with no foreign transaction fee), cash (obtained before departure) and Suica. Cash is helpful for snacks or other small purchases, and some small restaurants that only take cash. We used Suica for all trains, metro, buses, etc. - If you have an iPhone, you can’t beat the convenience of adding a Suica card to your Apple wallet. We loaded it before leaving and again mid-trip a couple of times from our Visa (also in Apple Wallet) - as long as you have internet access you can reload it anytime. - Overall, Tokyo and Japan are MUCH more affordable than Vancouver. Everything from metro fares to bottled water and restaurant food and beer was probably half the price on average compared to Vancouver. We typically paid about 1000 yen for a bowl of Ramen and 500-600 for a draft beer. The exception was espresso coffee drinks from Starbucks or any other cafe where they were equivalent price to what we pay at home.
Transportation: - The Tokyo (and Osaka/Kyoto) train and metro network is very easy to navigate. Probably one of the best in the world because you can just focus on line and station numbers and not on long unpronounceable station names. For example… if you’re going from Shinjuku to Asakusa, you could take the Shinjuku line to Bakuro-yokohama and switch to the Asakusa line at Higashi-Nihomnashi… which is a mouthful and says nothing about direction of travel. Thankfully you can just take the S-Line from S1 to S9 then the A-Line from A15 to A19. It couldn’t be easier. - Google Maps “Directions” is awesome for recommending routes with lines, station entrances, platforms, etc. When you get to a station, pick your destination in Google Maps and choose “Directions” and it will give you several train choices with full details. - As you might expect the cars at either end of the train will be less crowded than the cars in the middle or near the stairs/escalator… it’s worth the walk to the end of the platform.
Food: - I think I figured out why no one eats or drinks on the go… there’s no public trash cans. So, for example, if you buy a Starbucks coffee and walk around with it, you will have a tough time trying to dispose of the cup. Starbucks became our tourist oasis because they have bathrooms, wifi… and trash cans. LOL. It’s really very bizarre and encourages everyone to consume what you buy, where you buy it. Of course most convenience stores also have a trash bin for their customer use you can use as well. - Snacks… there’s no end of amazing snacks available from small stands, shops, and convenience stores. I’m not a big snacker, but my wife was snacking constantly and loving every minute of it. - Sushi… I think living in Vancouver has spoiled us with amazing Japanese restaurant and food choices. One big difference in Vancouver is that sushi restaurants have a lot of exotic rolls… dragon rolls, volcano rolls, etc. we didn’t see any of this in Japan. Sushi in Japan tends to be heavily focused on sashimi with simple rolls as an add on. Our fav sushi experience was at a conveyor belt restaurant where you just pick a plate as it passes by. Each plate has a colopattern that represents the cost of the item on it. When you’re done, they just add up the types of plates you have. - Ramen… There’s an insane variety of ramen and all are good. - Japanese Beef!!! We had a great but expensive Teppinyaki experience in Tokyo at Ginza Steak Shibuya. They offer all you can eat (within a time limit) A5 Wagyu beef but you can’t choose the cut and they don’t offer rib or tenderloin. Never the less, it’s fantastic beef and we left stuffed and smiling. I would only recommend it if you don’t mind spending over $100pp. The best beef I’ve ever had was at a Kobe steakhouse (Kobesteak Propeller) we visited on the cruise portion of the trip. They served us rib cut beef and it just melted in our mouth. Amazing! You get a small 160g portion but it’s quality over quantity and reasonably priced given the great appies and desert included. - We made reservations for the steak outings but otherwise just picked locations as we walked by or looking at nearby options on Google Maps.
Bathrooms: - Every toilet in Japan is high tech with a full suite of cleaning options and automated heated seats. The only feature it may be missing is a wifi hotspot 😛 - Bathrooms are easy to find at nearly every metro/train station and tourist attraction (and Starbucks and department stores). They are all very clean.
Communications: - I have a work funded roaming package so didn’t buy a local SIM plan. If I didn’t have my work plan I would have looked into this. - Free WiFi is plentiful and an app called Japan WiFi Auto Connect enables you to authenticate once with this app and then it runs in the background and auto authenticates you for a variety of free wifi hotspots streamlining the connection process. - Take advantage of downloading Google maps for offline use if you don’t have a cell plan in Japan.
Cruise Logistics: - I believe a lot of cruises depart from Yokohama, but ours departed from Tokyo. - The Tokyo International Cruise Terminal is very conveniently accessed by an elevated metro line (Yurikamome) from the Shimbashi metro/train station which is readily accessible from the Yamanote line or Ginza or Asakusa lines. - We used the Yamanote line and I was concerned about this for taking our luggage but fortunately we needed to do this on a Sunday and not during rush hour. My tip is if you’re taking luggage on a train or subway, go to the furthest car platform at the front or back end of the station as the cars in the middle or nearest the escalators/stairs will be standing room only packed while the end cars are much less busy and have seats available and plenty of room - to a greater or lesser extent depending on the time and day.

🔗High-Quality Stoeger Condor Choke Tube Assembly for Better Performance

https://preview.redd.it/wn9944ac7w3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=296cc3e060c3e9b6cf436194f9b5d0bea56d09b7

🔗Stoeger Condor Full Choke Tube with .590 Diameter

https://preview.redd.it/s009xomc7w3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d076e24a8468ffece4203b60767d1d6c51b451b6

Extended Stainless Steel Choke Tube for Flush or Extended Thread Pattern

https://preview.redd.it/0dnvdr9d7w3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20c2441b87d1b25b3cd409b78c10bb4b6b832058

🔗Maximum Turkey Choke for 12 Gauge Shotguns

https://preview.redd.it/mskvaxqd7w3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=576a289ebcf77345861fe18b1ae0954f882cab0e
In the world of turkey hunting, having the right tools can make all the difference. The Primos Jelly Head Maximum turkey choke has proven to be a game-changer for many hunters, myself included. The extended taper of this choke tube helps tighten patterns, making every shot count, even at long distances. The fluted ports reduce recoil significantly, keeping the gun comfortable to use even after countless shots.
This choke tube is designed specifically for 12 gauge guns and has been approved for use with both regular lead shot and Hevi-Shot copper plated shot. It's perfect for shots ranging from 30 to 45 yards, making it the ideal choice for enthusiasts seeking maximum accuracy and minimum felt recoil.
One of the most impressive features is the compatibility with various shot sizes, ensuring a tight pattern no matter the ammunition used. I've personally seen this choke work wonders, with some hunters even managing to hit their targets from impressive distances.
However, as with any tool, it's not without its drawbacks. The compatibility with specific shot sizes means it may not be as versatile as other options on the market. Nonetheless, the Primos Jelly Head Maximum turkey choke stands out for its precision and performance, making it a must-have for serious turkey hunters.

🔗Benelli M2 Turbo Choke Tube for 20 Gauge with Black-T Coating

https://preview.redd.it/9kzs68zl7w3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=136d456a2596cd280f9d8d91a4ecec279d2632fa
After trying the Primos 69411 Maximum for a few hunting sessions, I must say that the extended taper and fluted ports certainly tighten up my shot patterns significantly. This choke tube, with its. 570 constriction, reduced recoil, and black-t coating, has proven its worth in my experience.
The black-t coating is a fantastic feature that protects the choke tube from rust and corrosion, providing durability and reliability in the field. On the other hand, I found that there were some small inconveniences when dealing with the packaging and the size compatibility mentioned on the website. However, these were minor issues in comparison to the overall performance of the choke tube.
In conclusion, the Primos 69411 Maximum is a solid choice for turkey hunters looking for a high-performance choke tube at a reasonable price. The extended taper, fluted ports, and black-t coating make a great combination, providing both pattern tightness and durability. Nonetheless, it would be helpful if the company could improve its website's descriptions and ease of return process.

🔗Turkey Hevi Shot Extended Choke Tube .410 Gauge

🔗High-Quality Turkey Hunting Choke Tube

https://preview.redd.it/uo7oh0ym7w3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90341ff2edc1eca4cf07cf1ba81e7696070f801d
As a seasoned hunter, I've had my fair share of experiences with shotgun chokes. When I heard about the Primos Jelly Head Rem Choke, I was intrigued by its promising features. I decided to give it a try and see if it could improve the shot pattern and range of my trusty shotgun.
First things first, installation was a breeze. The choke tube easily screwed onto my shotgun, and it fit snugly without any issue. I was ready to hit the range and give it a test run.
At the range, I was immediately impressed by the performance of the Jelly Head Rem Choke. The shot pattern was significantly denser and tighter compared to my previous choke. I could confidently say that the pattern density had improved by up to 20%. This meant that I could confidently aim at turkeys and hit them with a higher degree of accuracy – a game-changer for any hunter.
Another great feature was the reduction in recoil. Shooting this choke felt much more comfortable as the energy from the shot was better absorbed by my shotgun, protecting my shoulder from the harsh impacts. This not only made my hunting experience more enjoyable but also allowed me to shoot more efficiently and with better control.
However, the Jelly Head Rem Choke did have its drawbacks. While the choke tube provided excellent results with Hevi-Shot, Copper Plated Lead, or Regular Lead, I noticed some issues when shooting with steel shot. The pattern became loose and dispersed, which made me hesitant to use it for geese hunting. This could be a downside for some hunters, but it didn't bother me since I primarily use it for turkey hunting.
In conclusion, the Primos Jelly Head Rem Choke is a top-notch choice for any turkey hunter looking to improve their shot pattern and efficiency throughout the hunting season. With its impressive performance and ease of installation, I highly recommend this choke tube for any hunter looking to level up their gear.

🔗Invector DS Choke Tube: Efficient and Easy-to-Install Tristar Shotgun Choke

https://preview.redd.it/cjyabe7n7w3d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f6fbe3b33f8287eb75d337c5bc5889f4a736a05
In my experience with the Browning Invector DS Choke, it's like having a trusty sidekick at your side while shooting.

One thing that stood out was the compact size of the choke tube set. Weighing in at just 2.08 ounces and measuring 4.3 x 2.7 x 1.6 inches, it was easy to store and transport. However, I did notice that the choke tubes did not come with specific size labels, which could have been helpful for beginners.
Overall, the Becker's Exclusive Kits SF12601K Choke Tube Set proved to be a valuable addition to our educational supplies. The high-quality materials, combined with the variety of choke tubes, made it a no-brainer for our car and race car lessons. FAQ

What is a 410 choke tube set?

A 410 choke tube set is a collection of interchangeable, adjustable parts that fit onto the muzzle of a 410 shotgun to control the spread of shot and improve accuracy by restricting and directing the pattern of the shot. These sets consist of different types of chokes, such as improved cylinder, modified, full, and extended, allowing shooters to select the right one for their specific shooting scenario.

What is the difference between a cylinder and a modified choke?

A cylinder choke is the least restrictive, while a modified choke is slightly more restrictive. A cylinder choke allows for a larger pattern spread, making it suitable for close-range shooting or when the target is not a small one. On the other hand, a modified choke restricts the pattern slightly, making it a better choice for medium-range shooting or when the target size is smaller.

What is the purpose of a full choke?

A full choke is the most restrictive choke in the set and is designed for long-range shooting. It greatly reduces the pattern spread, allowing for a smaller and more concentrated pattern. This makes it ideal for hunting at longer distances or when target sizes are very small.

Can I change choke tubes between different brands of 410 shotguns?

Yes, you can change choke tubes between different brands of 410 shotguns, as long as the shotgun's bore diameter and thread size match those of the choke tube set. However, it is essential to ensure that the new choke tube set is compatible with your shotgun before making any changes.

How do I remove and install a choke tube?

  • Unscrew the current choke tube from the muzzle of your shotgun using a choke wrench or your hand if the threads are not too tight.
  • Remove any excess oil or dirt from the muzzle's threads and the choke tube.
  • Apply a thin coat of thread locking compound to the new choke tube's threads, ensuring even coverage.
  • Screw the new choke tube onto the muzzle of your shotgun, applying even pressure to avoid damaging the threads or the choke tube.
  • Tighten the choke tube until it is secure, then use a choke wrench or your hand to tighten the threads further.

Do I need to clean my 410 choke tube set?

Yes, it is essential to clean your 410 choke tube set to ensure proper function and longevity. After each use, remove the choke tube and clean it with a gun cleaning solvent, following the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to also clean the muzzle and the shotgun itself to maintain its overall condition.

It gets really hard to decide how to rearrange the cars.
I have a new 10 car garage in a stilt apartment I’d like to fill. I am thinking I should rearrange cars in themed patterns. Open to suggestions.
Banshee garage is completed permenantly unless I get a custom apartment later. See previous post for those if interested.

2024.06.01 06:49 SimsAreShims Paul Tremblay and Leaving it to the Reader's Imagination/Interpretation

Let me apologize in advance: I'm going to be a bit of a hater here. Also, spoilers ahead.
In general, I hate open ended stories (be it books, movies, whatever). It comes across to me as lazy, as if the author didn't know how to end, so they got vague about it. This is a personal preference, sure, but it's one I feel very strongly about. To clarify, I do not need the story to be wrapped up in a nice, neat little bow, where everyone has a happy ending. A story can "finish" before it "ends".
What the hell do I mean by this?
Take, for example, Stephen King's The Long Walk. Major spoilers: Even though Garraty wins, he doesn't accept it, and starts running. We don't get a whole lot of world building to find out how the Long Walk became a thing, we don't follow Garraty after this, and thus we have no idea what happens, but the story is done. Extending it or explaining it wouldn't enhance the story; if anything, writing more would probably bring the horror elements down. The story was finished even though it didn't "end".
Back to Tremblay.
My first exposure to him was of course Cabin at the End of the World. This was before the movie, and it should have been RIGHT up my alley. World ending story that also contains references to religion? Hell yeah! Except, Holy hell, I could not read this thing for the life of me. The book starts off from the y y/o daughter, Wen's POV; she talks about her life, what it's like being adopted, taking language classes. She's in the yard organizing grasshoppers by size and giving them names and writing down what she thinks their genders are and OH MY GOD WHEN IS THIS STORY ACTUALLY STARTING??? At that point, I decided to try to skip ahead. Tremblay was verbose in other parts, so I tried to skip ahead. I ended up mostly going through the dialogue, reading more if it seemed relevant, and was left disappointed. I think the story really would have been enhanced by exploring the backgrounds of the four visitors, but, from what I did read, that didn't happen.
I checked the Wikipedia page to see if it was worth going back and trying again, but the ending If it was the end of the world was left kinda ambiguous. I could see an argument where The planes crashing is too much of a coincidence, so yes it is, plus the movie changed it to flat out saying it's the end of the world, but it just came across as so lazy to me. If anything, I think making the ending unambiguous would make the story better. It doesn't need to go on for much longer, but explaining what the "answer" is, in either case of the world ending or not, would reframe the rest of the story and make it better.
But maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. I read someone say on here that there is a lot of subtlety in Tremblay's writing, and maybe that would have explained it more if I didn't skip to just the dialogue, so I decided to give him another chance by reading Growing Things and Other Stories, a collection of short stories. Warning: No more spoiler tags after this.
The collection starts withe the titular story Growing things, where there are deadly vines growing in the world. The dad leaves his daughters to go out to look for supplies. He explicitly says that if there is a knock at the door, don't answer it, because it means it's the end of the world. And at the end of the story, there's a knock at the door! The girls go upstairs to avoid the knocking and the vines that have invaded the house, and that's it. I guess this one has an ending: the world ends, and the daughters are waiting to die. Details of their death are left to the reader's imagination, as is any details of the vines, as is a lot of background of the characters. I know nothing, and not in a good way. Let's try the next one.
Swim wants to Know if It's as Bad as Swim Thinks. We start off with the unnamed protagonist working her job at a grocery store, where people are crowding the store trying to buy their items. The protagonist's coworker is talking about something coming out of the water. Protagonist says it's just a movie trailer. Protagonist goes on message boards about consuming meth, so we know she's an unreliable narrator. Not a problem, as this is not quite the same as an open-ended story. She kidnaps her daughter, who she does not have custody of, and takes her to a place from her childhood to be safe with her daughter. But she's following patterns from when she last took her daughter while she was under the influence. She has a gun, and it seems like the police have found her. So she might kill her daughter, and I guess actually there's no monster. Ironically, this story has a lot more world building than the previous one, but it's still left open ended in a way that doesn't contribute to any fear or thrill of the story.
Next up: Something About Birds. To write this review, I re-borrowed this book online from the library to refresh my memory. It wasn't until stumbling upon the ending that I even remembered I read this story, because it elicited absolutely no strong emotion in me, not even distaste. I don't remember it, skimming through doesn't remind me of what happened, so I can't properly comment on it. Same deal with the next story, Snapshot. Looking through the table of contents and skimming through the next several stories (minus Teacher, more on that later), it looks like I skipped reading a lot of them, until I got to "It's Against the Law to Feed the Ducks." Intriguing name, I like animals, so I read this one.
This story is from the POV of the young son, Danny. They go to the beach, which is weirdly empty. When back at the cottage, the parents watch some TV, presumably the news, and are horrified; they get Danny out of the room so they can keep watching. Next day, they go to the grocery store, where it's empty, but people have overflowing grocery carts. Remember from earlier, this is a bad sign. Electronics are also down, as dad has to pay with a check. Another day, another trip to the grocery store; this time, the cashier lets them take the groceries without bothering to count it (another sign!), and Dad fills up the car with gas and gets extra gas cannisters. More TV watching, except in the empty restaurant, where the parents ask to have the TV turned off because of the kids. The story ends with the reason why the title is what it is: it's against the law to feed the ducks, which they obey at the beginning, but not the end, because the world is ending. We never learn what is happening, which makes sense if the POV is from a child, but that doesn't add to the horror. There's no horror from the kid's POV, just confusion. The reader is supposed to understand that Bad ShitTM is going down, but without any details, I quite frankly don't know why I should care. This is essentially a story about buying groceries and watching TV, bookended by ducks.
Of the stories I've described thus far, we get the whole end-of-the-world theme repeated, without anymore details, without any real ending, and without me caring. The one exception is Teacher, which I liked so much, I read it thrice: the first time, a second time when I remembered it existed, and then I read it again fully to write this review, rather than skimming it.
The story starts with an introduction to Mr. Sorent, the cool teacherTM. He has long hair and plays guilets the highschool seniors talk about more controversial topics like drugs and abortion, and has some days has SpecialTM lessons, which has the same rule as Fight Club: you do not talk about Fight Club Special lessons. In the first one, he shows a video of a daycare/preschool, where a teacher is spinning around with a child and accidentally lets go. Mr. Sorent stops the video, and then moves it frame by frame until a wall comes into view. That is the end of the first special lesson.
Time passes, more special lessons. More disturbing videos, a guest who reflects on how awful it is to have a disease and be used as inspiration porn, all of which end with the video moving a few frames. The protagonist, Kate, tells a story about when she was a kid, and she was forced to watch some boys mutilate a dead frog, and how it affected her baseball game. As the SpecialTM lessons bring down the students' academic lives, their personal lives and kate's family life deteriorate as well. The story ends with Kate trying to prevent the video from finishing using the same coping mechanism she used after watching the frog get mutilated: She volunteers for a demonstration, and moves forward without opening her eyes, hoping that if she doesn't, the film will never finish, and the accident with the child will never occur.
So what makes Teacher stand out from the others?
Tremblay actually talks about what's happening; we're shown the progression of the class, the reason why it's happening. There's no mystery of what's on the TV, or why the students are acting the way they are. The why is clear: they're being taught disturbing life lessons from a teacher they used to trust and admire. Sure, we don't actually know if they ever finish watching the video, or what happens after, but it doesn't matter, because the story isn't about that. It's about the students, and we see their arc, as they go from normal teenagers to depressed and cynical teenagers.
In the other works I've mentioned so far, we mostly get that the world is ending (or the addict mother thinks it is), but we don't know how. Considering that the end of the world is what's moving the stories along, IT'S KIND OF A BIG DEAL. Even in Cabin, where the horror is that the family is trapped in a deadly situation, knowing whether or not there's any truth to the visitor's reason for coming to the cabin would enhance the story. Compare to King's The Mist: book ends ambiguously, movie ends tragically, and even King says the movie ending was better. But with Tremblay, time that could be used for learning more about the visitors and if it's the end of the world is instead used on organizing grasshoppers.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. Next time I'm here, I'll try not to write in a faux manic state while mildly sleep deprived at 5 am.

2024.06.01 05:25 Thick_Traffic1352 What motivates men to leave their phone number with someone they are interested in, even after discovering that the person is already in a relationship?

I'm genuinely curious as to the thought pattern here.
A guy recently came up to me and introduced himself, asked if I was single. I said I wasn't.
Chatted for abit longer about general stuff and then he left.
When I went back to my car, he had left his number there.
He seemed genuinely apologetic for trying to hit on me when he found out I wasn't single , so I'm abit confused. He definitely left his number AFTER he spoke to me as I had just left my car and walked to cafe, and he was already in it
(He is a regular there and has walked past me before while I was getting out of car , which is how he knew which was my car I guess)
Have you ever done this before to someone you knew was taken ..and why? Interested in knowing how the male brain thinks here.
Is he saying he's open to a fling with a taken woman? That's the only obvious thing that came to me. Or he is playing with me? Or something else? Just doesnt make sense to me

2024.06.01 04:16 Few_Horror_8089 Dealing with Intrusive Thoughts

I commute daily on a bike for two reasons: - it leaves the car for my wife - the daily exercise is vital to my mental health Part of my commute route crosses through a stop light on an incredibly busy highway and quite often I have to wait up to five minutes for the light to change. Traffic noise combined with tinnitus is one of my most potent triggers. Quite often, I will start to disassociate and, in this state, I unwillingly think that all I have to do to end it is to walk out into the traffic. I am not suicidal and certainly make no plans but I have certainly come to value my life less. Regardless I find this emerging thought pattern frightful and it seems like I have to catch myself.
I obviously can't do anything about the noise or congestion and there is no alternative to crossing the stroad. I was hoping that others have had this challenge and that they are willing to share some of their coping skills.

2024.06.01 04:04 Oldtoycar Do I need to replace these tires?

Do I need to replace these tires?
A few days ago I hit a curb in an intersection. When I was checking the car for damage, I didn’t notice anything that stood out as damaged, however upon looking closer at my tire I saw this cracking pattern along the side wall that I don’t believe is related to the curb incident. Is this a sign that my tires need to go or is it just superficial?

2024.06.01 03:38 DrSameJeans Longarm Quilting Question

On my longarm I always do an all-over quilting pattern because I like to begin and end off the edge of my quilt. This obviously limits any more custom quilting, and I’d like to branch out to doing more types of quilting within one quilt. How does the stopping and starting work so that it doesn’t unravel? I know there is a knotting function on the machine. Do I just use that, or will that leave a visible knot? Just so afraid I’ll do all this work and then have it come undone!

2024.06.01 03:15 EmbarrassedPoem242 My way from most severe PD over 5 months. Tips, solutions, tricks, thoughts, realizations, "guide"

Hi,
I wrote this post as a comment for a guy in bad situation. Turned to be quite long post and almost "guide" how I escaped my panic disorder hell where I was almost 6 months, which from 4 months were 24/7 panic attack only changing from 1-5/10 at home to 3-10/10 outside, worst week was 7-10 in row with migraine. Now I am almost 2 weeks free from panic attacks, not fully healed but 90% better. I hope this helps anyone who needs it, every word is my own experience, not universal guide as everyone is different but I believe some parts fits us all.
In worst days I even believed I am already insane and will have to go to hospital and wont be able to take care of myself. These anxious doom thoughts are terrifying and let me to worst places. But you have to know and remember these are not real, these are not you!
Here are 3 tips how to stop the acute state of losing mind and then long term solutions that worked for me, hope it helps:)
It helps me to tell myself, even say it loud "I am not my thoughts, I am not my feelings, these will pass and are not truth". You can repeat it everytime you need. Looking in the mirror helps me.
If you are experienced in mindfulness/meditation having deep slow breath while focusing on it helps me to stop my racing mind and "get the wheel". Start practising mindfulness/meditation if you didnt before, its annyoing and a big step out of comfort zone but is really worth it, just force yourself few times and then its a good habit. This will help you take control of your mind.
A lot of unsolved problems and stress in my life was scaring me and caused those thoughts. Mind can stress itself just from one small potential problem up to insanity, esp OCD/ADHD mind. It helps me to ask myself: ok this problem will happen, what is the worst it can cause? Will it kill me? Will it make me homeless? Mostly only hurt my ego. And then set the worst case scenarios solutions. For me it was financial and work pressure and worst thing that could happen would mean.... selling my mercedes and buy cheap car so I have enough money for year... Thats it. Nothing more. Ending I didnt have to sell anything, just my mind was fking with me. Apply on yourself.
How I escaped this hell and realized on my way
For longterm solutions it helps me to write, write, look for answers and write again until I understand it. Writing about your life and problems, what are the roots, causes, variables, triggers, and mainly timeline of how did you got to the state you are now. This all gives you better understanding and control of your condition, mind, treatment and overall life. It helped me to understand what did I wrong (finding I didnt, it was just too much stressors), finding the causes to fix/remove (friends, job, demands on myself) from my life, finding the causes I cant remove (family, traumas, finances) and then the how to make them less stressful or fix (PM me if want talk of family).
You can go back to months, maybe even years from start of problems and watch how your life went and stressors/traumas that happened, also childhood is a massive source of variables of this equation ending in panic attacks so look even there and write it all down from your first memory up to home traumas, your parents/siblings/grandparents, way of raising, school, problems in school, girls, drinking, drugs, job... everything matters.
Finally when you really know and understand how you got here. You have almost won because making plan/treatment without knowing the background does not really work. But now you know what are your sources of stress, your fears and insecurities, triggers, unsolved traumas, risks and worst scenarios and what led you here. Now you know what to remove/solve and you can start making a plan one thing by another. Start with bigger stuff and easily removable things like that friend that makes you feel guilty, just stop talking/texting with him or your gym where you feel bad, find another or workout outside. Know your limits - that should be the lesson of this issue to find your own limits (work, stress, saying yes, ignoring your needs), now dont cross them even if you want to solve everything at once like me, dont do it, make a plan and set limits. For big stuff like changing work or family/friends issues its best to think about your options, if its fixable/want to fix or have to leave that crappy work or friend.
Leaving family should be option only in worst situations, limiting contact, setting limits and working on fixing your traumas and relationships to be ready to forgive them works better from my experience. Renew your plan every week or two depending on your situation, check for new goals or new info you found, tick off every point you solved and praise yourself for every single step you made! srsly put your hand on your shoulder and tell it loudly! Be proud of yourself and dont take it for granted, this is really imporant.
I found its really the best to be honest with people about my condition and feelings. Dont hide, be quiet or look for excuses, talk openly to the important people like boss or mom and tell them about your reality. You would be surprised that most people have no idea what is happening to you while you feel like dying or seeing something different in your behaviour (esp avoidance). Tell them how it really is, what are your needs/intentions and be honest. In the end with most people you will find they had/have similar problem in their life but its just not common topic and everyone understood me and respected my needs, some gave me advices or offered me help. Even my boss which I considered the least humane person replied me Im on antidepressants for 2 years as I hit rock bottom so I got you and tell me if I can help you, even after I was already working for another company and he knew it and that Im leaving...
For every trauma, injustice, anger or hatred in you, your deepest woulds and pains exists solution and treatment. One of them is always forgiveness and mercy. Im no ezo/religious guy but I found this truth over and over as only one way out of anger and finally fixing childhood traumas. Even for people that dont deserve your forgiveness, be selfish and forgive them for your good! Dont take it as their victory or you weakness, this is you win and strongest act you can do. This is where you find your peace. It helps to tell yourself: nobody is born evil and nobody does bad things to others with intention. These people probably had horrible life and even if their did bad things, it was best possible output they could make with their own history/traumas. This really helped me forgive my parents and grandmas which raised them that way and love them again, even that I had so horrible childhood I wanted to end it for years and ran from home many times. So you can also make it! It is possible to find peace:)
Here is the final and most important one - respect your needs and limits. I know its obvious but most people dont really do that including me. You have to be selfish besides your serious obligations/laws and important family stuff. I didnt know how to say no and wanted to help and please everyone and to be liked. I have huge need to help people and want to do the best I can, but both you and I have to look for own good first! Its all coming from childhood and traumas which is for long run. For now just think about that invitation "will it help me? is it good for me? do I really want to go there?" or is it just subconscious need to be liked or result of manipulative parents/partner? Put your own needs, health and peace as most important and dare to say NO. Even going to shop, does it stress me? yes, so I can order it home instead! Do I want to chat with colleagues while making coffee? No, so I tell them sorry Im not in the mood. Do I want to go out or to family celebration? No, so I just tell them I dont want to go. Do I want to be friend with this person? No, just tell them you have too much own stuff to deal with. Watch for any pressure or manipulation as red flag.
I hope this helps you as my deepest need makes me to:) but I spent almost 6 months in hell prison of panic disorder. Medications helped me, dont deny them as I did for 2 months Xanax and 4 months SSRIs because my ego didnt want to admit I need help. But meds are not solution but only tool to be able to find all those things, change work, habits, friends, say no, focus on myself and to dig deep in my history. Therapy is also important part, for me it was mostly about childhood and discussing my progress/plan and where put my focus.
Now I am almost 2 weeks free with not a single panic attack, even at the post office! They are coming but I embrace them and go towards the trigger as I already know Im free and this is just pattern and they disappear instead of causing attack:) It all changed when I found the missing piece of causes which remained - my hatred/love towards grandmas for how they affected my parents after forgiving parents in September. Finding it was 50% overcome anger and admit I can and will forgive them as they probably had way much horrible lifes born during WW2 in middle of Europe was another 50% and now my soul have peace and I am free from attacks. It could be really anything causing your hell so write, write, dig and look for every piece. You dont have to solve everything, but knowing it is almost 50%, sometime its the solve. Few final a bit harsh but helpful words.
Find yourself and understand yourself and own life, try to love and forgive yourself.
Look for positives and lessons learned from this illness and what it gave you.
Dont think of yourself as a victim, dont feel sorry for yourself.
Dont blame others and mostly dont blame yourself.
Wish you best of luck, soon recovery and happy life:)

2024.06.01 03:11 Jenson-ecigs How do you travel with e-cigarettes in the EU?

Vaping is no longer just a smoking cessation method; it has evolved into a lifestyle. Whether you're into chasing clouds or savoring flavors, knowing the ins and outs of traveling with your vape e-cigarettes across the European Union (EU) is vital. While there are some requirements, think of it as preparing a Swiss army knife—stay ready for anything, and you'll breeze through. Let's explore the essentials to ensure your vaping style stays intact and your journeys hassle-free.
Traveling with vape e-cigarettes can seem like navigating a maze of regulations. With each country in the EU having its unique rules, it's like playing a game of chess—strategy is critical.

Understanding EU Regulations

The EU needs a unified approach to e-cigarettes so the rules can vary significantly from one country to another. It’s like a patchwork quilt—each piece with its pattern but part of a bigger picture.

Air Travel with E-cigarettes

When flying, always keep your e-cigarettes in your carry-on baggage. Storing them in checked luggage is against airline policies and could lead to safety hazards.

Handling Airport Security

Security protocols may seem overwhelming. Approach them as you would when preparing a gourmet meal—everything must be meticulously arranged for a seamless vaping experience.

Train Travel Considerations

Are you traveling by train? Each rail company has its guidelines, similar to restaurants' dress codes. Know before you go!

Road Trips and Ferries

The freedom of a road trip comes with a need to understand the rules of the road and the sea. Think of it as tuning your instrument before a concert—essential for a flawless performance.

Country-Specific Rules

Navigating country-specific regulations is essential. It's akin to adjusting your watch to a new time zone—necessary to stay in sync.

Packing Tips for Vapers

Packing your vape gear correctly is as important as packing a parachute for skydiving. Safety and convenience are paramount.

Battery Safety During Travel

Batteries are the heart of your vaping device. Handle them like you would a delicate ornament—carefully and with great attention to detail.

Where to Vape: Know Your Zones

Not every place welcomes vaping. It’s like knowing which fork to use at a formal dinner—knowledge is power.

Cultural Considerations

Being culturally sensitive about vaping is as essential as knowing the local language. It helps in blending in smoothly.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Problems can pop up unexpectedly. Think of them as puzzles to be solved on the go.

Traveling with E-liquid

For example, choosing the right fuel for your car and picking and packing your e-liquid for travel are crucial for a good trip.

Legal Restrictions and Penalties

Awareness of legal boundaries is as critical as knowing the road rules. It keeps you safe and sound.

To Wrap It Up

Traveling with your vape e-cigarettes in the EU doesn’t have to be complicated. With the proper preparation and knowledge, you can enjoy your journey as much as your destination.
