2024.06.01 14:15 Aj_ankit The company I worked for past two years just fired me over by a text from Ex-employee of the company

I worked in a production house for past two years, they gave me an employee confirmation mail on joining, they never made me sign any proper formal contract (biggest red flag that I should have payed more attention to, they said we'll do it when they'll buy the rights of my movie). I worked for them with utmost sincerity, they always kept stalling my movie saying there's something else in pipeline let the go to the floors first. And today without serving any notice period or anything, the ex employee who now is back in touch the producer texted me over WhatsApp saying I am terminated without giving any reason. When I protested he claimed that they've a good lawyer with the company, if I tried anything they'll claim and take all the rights of my movie that I have written so far without paying me anything. I still have the employee confirmation letter but Am clueless what to do next. [Something I learned from the people who came for meeting with the producer was he is shifting into event management now after failing as a producer and production house, this is the reason he's firing all the in-house writer] On top of all of this I recently told the producer that I am getting a job offer from somewhere almost 2X the salary I am getting here he could have said this then too, and I would have been happier but he assured me things will work here and today just did this. I am clueless what to do next.

2024.06.01 14:13 anonme1995 Can you quit your job & still qualify/ apply for PFMLA??

Looking for some PFMLA advice, or maybe someone who has done this before. There's so much information online for PFMLA and the verbiage sometimes is hard to understand. I am wondering if I quit my job prior to the birth of my child or qualifying for early medical leave (if requested by doctor), can I still apply and recieve PFMLA benefits. For example, lets say I resign August 1st, baby is born end of September, will not working for 8+ weeks or any amount of time void me from qualifying for PFMLA benefits? Aka the 12 weeks of family bond leave + whatever the doctor approves for medical leave (most likely 6 weeks additional if uncomplicated).
Background/ rant: I am a FT employee and have been with the same company for 6 years. I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and so far my pregnancy has been great. No issues. Haven't even had to use any sick time so far. The company is spiraling, lots of major changes in the company. My position has changed drastically since the beginning of the year. I was given a promotion with intent to a pay raise, its been 90+ days since said promotion and my pay plan "wont be ready until July". I was informally promised it would've been ready May 1st. Despite this, I still continue doing everything asked of me and more. I started working a little longer hours and now work weekends which I hadn't in years. I had just been informed they are moving which office I work out of to a new location in a different town. I have been working in the same office for 6 years and never was told that there could be a possibility to move. The move happens July 1st. I currently live a 2 mile drive from my job, that was the most attractive reason I took it in 2018. Now the new office is located 25 minutes, I know this is not a lot for some people, but I live in the city, traffic gets bad, highways get backed up and I just don't want to travel extra for work. I'm not the only one moving, so is both of my staff members who i oversee, They are uprooting our entire department. One of my employees came to me a month ago, talking about how stressed she was from work that she would go home and cry. I fought for months with my directors to let them know how the entire department feels on not being paid for new roles/ extra work & being promised by them, but they under deliver. I warned them that people may quit. They said "let them quit". Yesterday one of the girls I have been working with side by side and then became her manager since 2019, resigned. She just hit 5 years with the company. She cried but said it was effecting her way too much, between the extra work no pay and all of the changes. When she resigned, our COO replied with "thanks for letting me know" and that was it. This has been my tipping point. I don't think I can work here anymore. I don't want to spend my 3rd trimester stressed. It's not good for me or baby.
So, if I resign, would I still qualify for PFML benefits since I have been paying into it since it started in 2021..

2024.06.01 14:11 CartographerSea1947 Canada Post to remove PO Box numbers

I was warned by my post office yesterday that they are to be guinea pigs of a new change to remove the numbers on our in office PO boxes. In the next couple of months, they will be removing the numbers and we are to only use our home address - they will still sort and put them in our boxes with this information only.
I pointed out that this removed the ability for someone to send or receive mail without sharing where they live with customers, sellers or others online and asked what the higher ups' reasoning was for the change. They cited customers failing to put their PO box # in their address which slows down their process in the post office when sorting mail to put in the boxes. They didn't say this part but I'm wondering if instead of an individual being associated with a PO Box, the property or apartment itself will be and the box will remain with that property even when the property changes hands so the information the employees must learn stays consistent.
Each box will be assigned a new number or code but my understanding was that this is only be used to identify which box is yours and/or for the employees to see in the back and you are not to use it as part of your address. I am in Northern Ontario, btw. I am not sure how many post offices they will be rolling this out in.
It seems to me that from a customer standpoint, this will only increase fraud for that many more people to have to put their full home address to all of their online dealings. I quite liked the ability to hide my actual place of residence when making transactions online so I hope this change doesn't stick or that they offer an option to use the new code as a delivery address. I do know that many people seek out PO boxes specifically for privacy reasons, though admittedly it is probably a small portion of the population.
Perhaps some employees who know more about this can give more insight.

2024.06.01 14:04 Sufficient-Effort186 PicRights sent me a letter regarding an old picture on my store

I've just received a letter from PicRights about an image that isn't even on my site anymore. The screenshot they sent to provide evidence of the copyrighted picture was from December 2023. So it's not even being used anymore, plus the company has been dissolved (no longer a LTD company).
They're charging my £370 for this.
Am I legally obliged to pay this, despite not having an active company, plus the image not even being used on the site anymore (for the past 6 months for that matter)?
Thanks

Anybody works or worked at fort lauderdale airport and port everglades? How’s the work life setting there? Is morale good, bad? How does it look for a new cbpo employee coming in the first few years? I’m trying to guage whether I picked the right location to start my career. I hear stories of mandatory OT and tdy assignments. Can anybody provide some insight. You can PM also if you’d like. My background I have a wife and kids and would rather not spend much time away from them knowing I could be forced to the SW border after completing the 6 month academy.

2024.06.01 14:02 karakickass Week 22: "Chapter 45. The Shower of Blood, Chapter 46. Unlimited Credit" Reading Discussion

Do you think someone told Dumas to "up the stakes" or something... ?
Synopsis:
Bertuccio concludes his tale by telling how the jeweller goes to bed upstairs. Then later there are some suspicious sounds followed by a gunshot. Blood begins to soak through the floorboards in a "shower of blood" on him. He breaks free of his hiding place and witnesses the last dying moments of the poor jeweller. The scene comes to life for him. La Carconte has stabbed the jeweller and TheCad has shot his wife. Regardless of this scene, Bertuccio's pursuers find him just then and he is arrested -- his bloody clothes telling a different story than what happened.
Lucky for him, he has heard the name of Abbé Busoni. The man is searched for and after months is found. The Abbé hears Bertuccio's confession and works to free him. [We know that Busoni and MC are the same person, but Bertuccio doesn't...However, it does beg the question, why make him tell the whole story again???] Once freed, Busoni tells him to find Monte Cristo and now our dear Count has a servant who is highly motivated to serve him.
Next, we see Danglars try to pay him a visit. MC plays coy and then demands that Bertuccio buy the horses from him (MC must have the best horses, after all!) There is a curious moment where MC and Ali talk "for hours" despite Ali being mute? Hmm. And there is also an exchange with this valet where MC shows he has allowed the valet to steal, but MC is also investing money on his behalf? HMMMM.
Then MC visits Danglars and in a battle of manners and wits, MC bests him into unleashing "unlimited credit" by deploying displays of ample wealth and many letters of credit. I'm sure that will end well for everyone! Then MC is introduced to Danglars' friends and soon to his wife.
Discussion:
  1. Yikes! Did you think TheCad and La Carconte had that in them? Is TheCad's fate what you wanted to come about?
  2. What is your reaction to the way MC seems to accumulate and retain favours/servants?
  3. What is the deal with the horses? Why must MC have the best?
  4. Why do you think Danglars was bested in this scene? What weaknesses did MC play on?
Next week, chapters 47 and 48!

2024.06.01 13:59 Typical-Geologist272 AITA for stopping my ex from seeing his child

Just a bit of contect he was never involved in my pregnancy since we broke up when I was 10 weeks pregnant I let him know when we was born and he message me when can I see her.
I arrange for him to see her when she was 5 days old he didnt seem that interested in her at all he never looked at her he held her one during the few hours he saw her. He came again when she was about 2 weeks old and that when the problems started.
He constantly picked fights saying I wasn't allowing him to see her and I was a horrible mother that she's not his as she looks nothing like him etc.
When she was 3 weeks old he tried to end it twice it go that bad the police had to drag him back to the hospital, I said thats since his mental health isnt the best that's its not the best idea for him to be seeing her and we can arrange somthing for when his mental health was better I still messaged him sent in photos and we still ft when he could.
2 weeks later I got a letter though for mediation I message him and he said that his mental health was better and that even if he and said anything I would allow him to see her ( which I never did the planning wasn't the best as when he was buzy I was free amd when I was buzy he was free so him seeing her was difficult to arrange) after I decline he stopped messaging me
8 months later I put in for child support he got his sister to message me to tell me I'm a horrible person for putting in for CS when I don't allow him to see her (i never said he couldnt see her) so I message him to see if he wanted to see her and I would arrange somthing so that he wasn't on his own with her so like at a visitation centre.
We went back and forth for a few days then I asked him it not message me everyday (as all it was is him asking is she was OK and constantly comparing her to his family but when i said oh she gets that from my side of the family he would accuse me of pushing him and his family out and that im trying to turn her against him she was 9 months old at the time) he flipped out on me.
Saying how can I help and support my child if you don't allow me to message. I put back I'm not saying not message just not every day and I might be the arsehole for this but I said that asking how she is amd comparing her to your family isn't helping or supporting her.
Then he went on a rant about how much of a horrible person I am and then demanded to see her or he would take me to court to I Just put fine see you in court then during the conversation he kept trying to argue with me but I had tried to remain civil
A day later I got a call from CS as he had denied being her dad and we had to go wait for a DNA test and I had to answer some question. His family however kept messaging me about the case it was like a message or two a day which I had ignore I ended up closed the CS case as his family kept on harassing me about the DNA test
So aita for stopping him from seeing his child?

2024.06.01 13:58 Horror-Outside7972 Maison Alhambra - The Serpent 🐍

Maison Alhambra - The Serpent 🐍
Background: Short version: The serpent was made after the Gucci - The voice of the snake.
Long version: As written on their own site, Gucci Fragrances introduced Luxury Collection: The Alchemist’s Garden, featuring unisex fragrances customizable by layering various scents for a unique, long-lasting aroma. The Voice of the Snake Eau de Parfum as a part of collection, was inspired by a snake's movement through a forest, blends oud with patchouli and saffron, resulting in a provocative and hypnotizing scent.
The bottles were crafted to evoke the allure of vintage apothecary containers, with opulent gold lettering and enigmatic symbols, turning them into must-have treasures for mystery buffs. Maison Alhambra, true to form, skipped the brainstorming session and just hit Ctrl + c, Ctrl + v on the bottle design. I guess originality took a vacation there! 🤷‍♂️
Here is the fun part, Alberto Morillas described the collection as creating mesmerizing individual statements, allowing personalization by combining oils, floral waters, and eau de parfum. -roughly translates to "Not really meant to wear individually, better result can be obtained when mixed with others from the collection"-
Naturally, Maison Alhambra tossed that description straight into the recycling bin and decided to forge ahead with the cloning process. I mean, why not, right?
Orginal Maker: Alberto Morillas
How is the scent exactly?
Short version: Imagine a fragrance so wild, it's like a rollercoaster for your nose, not in a good way. It's like a band-aid and Dettol had a collision course, leaving the nose in disbelief. And just when you think it can't get worse, it dries down to something ashy. 🥲 Not a crowd pleasing and pretty wild at that.
Long version: well, as soon as you spray it, it blasts the spicy, dry, slightly sweet saffron. 10 mins in, it pulls herbal patchouli into the picture. Please note that patchouli is not chocolatey sweet in here, it's more earthy and medicinal. As patchouli takes center stage, overshadowing the saffron which now plays a game of peek-a-boo in the background, both stars are enveloped in a balsamic oud embrace.
The oud in here is not a typical white oud, having no sweet tone whatsoever. Almost sterile clean, setting the stage for patchouli and saffron.
As the scent progresses towards the dry down, it turns more ashy, medicinal and puts the woody, spicy and little warm aspects upfront.
So, It's like wearing the scent of a tough guy who's also a closet germaphobe (Hey! Happy pride month btw 🙃🫣). Masculine, antiseptic, and also contradictory, like a tough guy in a hazmat suit!
When, where and who can wear it?
This perfume is strictly for cold weather, evening time, mostly for casual wear (or just funerals?! ...maybe).
It's like, yeah, it's for everyone, but if I had to pick, I'd vote for the guys to sport that scent rather than the gals. It's like scent democracy, with a twist!
Performance, longevity, sillage?!
It projects when sprayed and stays like that for next half hour, gets close to 2 ft mild bubble and kinda becomes skin scent after 5-6hrs.
How close is it to the original?
Only God knows.
PS - First image was downloaded from the internet for the reference.

2024.06.01 13:56 Dear-Raspberry-4397 Deciding on a middle name for baby boy

My husband and I are due in a month with our first! We’re both set on his first name being Everett but we can’t agree on a middle name. Here are our top three:
Honest, third party opinions on the middle names?
Or any other fitting options? We’ve gone through a lot of options to narrow to these three, but in case there’s one we’ve missed that hits the mark for both of us!
Last name starts with A, 4 letters

2024.06.01 13:52 ThrowRA_Arthur03 My ex-girlfriend's (22F) birthday is coming up and I (24M) have a conflict about whether it's appropriate or just absurd to send a birthday gesture? I would really like some advice

Hey there, I need some advice on whether it's appropriate or just absurd to send a birthday letter and a small gift to my ex-girlfriend. Our situation is a bit complicated, so here's some background:
My ex and I had a relationship that spanned two significant periods. We met, got together, separated (without discussing it at all; we just drifted apart), and then almost a year later, we got back together. We broke up for the second time about three months ago.
Her birthday is coming up, and I want to send her a short positive WhatsApp message to congratulate her and say that I've left her something small in her mailbox, hoping it will bring a smile to her face. The gift I want to make it handmade, along with a letter expressing my congratulations and appreciation.
My Conflict: I don't want to overstep any boundaries or make her feel uncomfortable. My wish is simply to make her something special. I aim to respect her space while showing this kind gesture. However, I worry about the potential of triggering negative emotions or discomfort.
So, the question is: Should I go ahead with this, or would it be better to keep my distance and let her celebrate without any of my input?
Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
P.S.: I'm ready for any feedback, and if I seem like I was or am a jerk, believe me, I have heard it all from myself. I really don't like the version of myself from the past year and there is really no excuse for my actions and the way I neglected her and our relationship. I also see things I still need to improve.
TL;DR: Ex-girlfriend's birthday is coming up. We broke up three months ago after a complicated relationship. I want to deliver her a handmade gift and letter but worry it might be inappropriate or make her uncomfortable. Should I go ahead or keep my distance and just send a normal message not too long and not too short?
Thank you in advance!!

2024.06.01 13:46 lentildaswinton At the end of my tether

I would never normally turn to Reddit but I’ve reached the end of my tether. I’m an ex-nurse so medically, I’m good - I don’t need medical advice, more an outlet to rant and get some support. If you have nothing nice to say, please don’t bother; my mental health is incredibly fragile right now.
I’m 34 next month, and I started my period for the first time at 8 years old (it was apparently triggered by CSA).
From the moment it started until now, it has been HORRIFIC. Waking up in pools of blood, barely able to leave the house without bleeding everywhere - never been able to wear skirts, shorts, or anything white. There’s never been a pattern, some periods would last for 3 months, sometimes it would disappear for a year.
I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2017 and was put on metformin. This did nothing to help.
In 2018, I had weight loss surgery as my bmi was (and still is) out of range for IVF. I have had 11 miscarriages - 4 of them were when my weight exceeded 28 stone, 5 were when my weight was at 18 stone, 2 at 16 stone, and 4 when my weight increased slightly.
I have been tested for natural killer cells, I’ve been tested for thrombocytopenia, I’ve been tested for EVERYTHING - nothing has come up except a dodgy thyroid (which I’m on medication to fix).
Anyway, after my surgery, my periods relaxed a bit and I started having one every three months or so which lasted about 3 weeks. Everything was okay until - and I am NOT anti-vax in the slightest! - I had my astrazeneca jab on 6.2.21 - literalky a day later, i bled until 12.6.23. I bled, heavily, every single day for over two years.
I was referred to gynaecology in March 21 and rhey didnt see me until August 22 when I was blue-lighted to a&e with severe iron-deficiency (iron levels 2) where they did a biopsy and a scan. The scan showed thickened endometrium and the biopsy was normal.
I ended up in hospital with an adrenal crisis and the bleeding still wouldnt stop. They gave me tranexamic acid, mefanamic acid, norethisterone - absolutely NOTHING would stop the bleeding. Eventually they discharged me and sent for an emergency iron infusion.
Fast forward a few months and the same thing happens again. Back to hospital, another iron infusion, still no medication would work. They did another biopsy - nothing.
This happened again every few months for about a year which takes us up to last June when I had another biopsy which came back showing “endometrial hyperplasia” but I received a letter from the specialist who said everything was normal. I tried to clarify with them but they weren’t sure what was going on. So I asked for a second opinion at a different hospital.
The new hospital did a biopsy which came back normal (this was Feb 24). After the biopsy, I stopped bleeding. It finally stopped! Until March came along and then I started bleeding AGAIN - I am STILL bleeding now. I’m off for another iron infusion at 2:30 today because my iron stores have dropped to 2 again and I’m at my wits end.
I’ve had 7 iron infusions in 2 years, no medication helps, no dietary changes help, no vitamin, mineral or nutritional deficiencies are documented. I eat very healthily, I exercise and I do everything I can to support my hormonal health (naturally, no additional supplementation aside from folic acid and folate).
I’m booked in to have the mirena coil fitted (again) at the end of June (apparently no sooner slots) but I’m losing the will to live. I genuinely cannot continue waking up like this day after day. I haven’t been able to work for four years because this is overruling my life.
They won’t do a hysterectomy “in case” I want to have children, they won’t investigate for endometriosis because I have “too much scar tissue” and they won’t check my egg quality because my BMI is just over 35. I’m working to lose weight (even though I lost 12 stone through weight loss surgery) but my body has plateaued and I can’t seem to lose anymore. My endocrinologist is scratching his head, I’m at a loss, and I’m genuinely fearful that if this continues much longer, I might end up taking drastic action.

2024.06.01 13:43 Alternative_Rain_624 In recruitment Purgatory

Got a HNC in audio engineering, went to Dubai and got a 48k a year job in management (through nepo). Left that now after only two months due to extreme toxicity. Going back to England, and I've applied to around 100 jobs.
I'm particularly interested in degree apprenticeships ( In literally ANYTHING) but cannot seem to land one. Ideally, as I'm a musician and done a bunch of freelance work in recording studios, live sound etc I would like to work in post production/ sound, but it is just so competitive!
Been emailing so many different companies, applying to so many jobs in this industry and cannot land a single one. I'm too qualified for entry level sound jobs/ apprenticeships and not experienced enough for the fully fledged audio engineer roles it seems. I'm just sat here in the middle, waiting. I have some management experience which may serve as a hindrance to my CV rather than a benefit as I've not had any luck recently in getting a job.
I'm really sick of manually filling out long application forms and writing tailored cover letter's. Feel an intense burnout coming on. Despite this I am applying to around 3-4 jobs a day. I've become accustomed to receiving the rejection e-mail for job applications now. Yet I keep applying. It's almost like a form of self harm.
People who've been in a similar position. What should my next steps be? Are there any decent paying roles (late 20k - mid 30k) that I should be looking at?
Thank you

2024.06.01 13:36 EmptyImagination4 please help how to deal with manipulative narcissistic landlord

Prequal: My landlord shows all the signs of a narcissist:
Now in discard phase: After enduring 2 years of noise disturbance, we agreed I could move out without notice, but he broke the agreement. When I moved out, he accused me of damages and kept my €1k bail, refusing to let me fix damages myself.
What happened next:
  1. 1 month ago: Argued our agreement was legally binding and threatened court. No response.
  2. 3 weeks ago: Pointed out his many other potential legal issues with different agencies. No response.
  3. 2 weeks ago: Renters association sent a letter stating his claims were unlawful. No response.
  4. This week: Offered to talk, he then manipulated and guilt-tripped me, demanding bail for "damages."
After our talk, he sent an email asking me to legally give up the bail. Why? Probably to stop me from going to authorities or court. My goal now is for him to not come back and sent a detailed bill with his demands, making them invalid in 6 months after stature of limitation hits. Two options here:
Options: A) I respond with "I have nothing more to say or do"?
B) Not answer:

TLDR, my options and Question:

A) Not responding: If I ignore my landlord's email offering to keep my bail, he might worry I'll report him to various agencies and retaliate by sending a detailed bill for alleged damages, preventing the statute of limitations from expiring in 6 months. However, if he doesn't know about the statute of limitations and fears provoking me, he might stay silent. Also, I haven't reported him in 4 weeks and mentioned these issues in a positive, non-threatening, let's talk kind of way. He might therefore forget about that mailing and belive his tactics in our last call (gaslighting, guilt-tripping) have succesfully weakened me to stop me from contacting or fighting him, so he might not respond, allowing the statute of limitations to kick in. (I have never shown him harsh consequences in the past, nearly always giving in to his demands).
B) Respond, but without agreeing: If I respond without agreeing to his offer, he might get suspicious and send a detailed bill to prevent the statute of limitations from expiring. Alternatively, he might believe me, which is my goal.
Question: Is my landlord more likely to retaliate if I don't respond (fearing I'll report him) or if I respond without agreeing to his terms (making him suspicious I'm up to something)?

2024.06.01 13:35 elite_kermit Internship, Dota and old school data mining

This was years ago. I was in my final stretch of the bachelor's degree and had to do an internship for a semester to graduate. I looked around but in the end I decided to just do it at the local internet Cafe I was hanging out at. I knew the owner, I had spent a considerable amount of time there so it seemed like the easiest path.
The owner, M., had two guys for IT support but they were working remotely. They had the PCs almost automated, loading a prepared image when needed or on each boot and they would come down every three months for some checks. So I thought I could learn from them, they always seemed cool. And he needed someone a little more technically capable than the current employees. I would do the usual, make coffee and tend the registry but also help customers or repair hardware when needed so that he wouldn't have to ship it to the pair of IT guys.
Everything was peachy. Besides the usual creeps and some GPUs that were failing (managed to "fix" some of them by putting them in the oven, having found an article about it) it was excellent. I worked nights, which was quiet and just counted the days to the end of the internship so I could go and find a real job.
At some point, about two months in my internship, things started happening. It was at a time where there was no reconnecting to an online game, not most of them anyway. And Dota was popular. Like the actual warcraft 3 map. So customers were rightly pissed when connections started dropping like flies. They would play and then nothing, network would drop them.
The IT guys immediately said we need to change the switch in the server rack room (more like a rack closet). But that was expensive and not a guaranteed solution. So the boss stonewalled until customers threatened to leave and go elsewhere. He tasked me to find one online which I got from ebay for half the price. It was shipped, received and the guys guided me on the phone on installing it.
For a few days it was okay until the issue returned. And I had limited experience so I did my best. Went online, tried several things but nothing. It went on for a couple weeks more until I had the idea to do some data mining. Nothing much, but I just started writing down details about when the disconnections happened. Soon it became apparent to me that it only happened when there were more than a number of customers in the shop. About 20 or so but it wasn't an exact number. I did some research and found a setting on the network card for each computer (they were loading an image, remember?), related to high stress or something. I can't recall the name or where it was, but essentially when the network reached a certain bandwidth it shut down the Lan port. It was just a bloody check box.
The IT guys fixed it, repaired the images as well with the new setting and we all went on to playing Dota like nobody's business. But I still use it in some interviews when asked how I handle problems.
(Excuse the formatting and grammar. I wrote this while waiting for a train on my phone.)

2024.06.01 13:25 L337_86 Dear Best Buy, please fire Cory!

I wanted to reminisce about my time at Best Buy. There are so many negative threads on Reddit that I thought it would be nice to share some of the good memories for those of us who’ve been there through thick and thin.
First off, I absolutely hated the blue shirt we had to wear for the first six months. But once you were on the good side of your General Manager, you could get away with a lot. Be careful, though—that’s a double-edged sword. If management didn't like you, they’d use those same incidents against you!
Let’s be honest, Best Buy’s employee discount on shelved merchandise is pretty terrible. Some of you may know, some may not, but the real treasures were in the warehouse, labeled MDC. I know the name Magnolia no longer exists, but I still call it that! Magnolia was a completely different world compared to the retail floor. It was the reason I kept coming back to work. It offered a wealth of knowledge, and I couldn't get enough of it.
My grievance was never about the pay. I’m grateful I never had to worry about my paycheck or payday. Honestly, I hope people don’t take this job just for the money because there isn’t much to gain. But if you crave knowledge, MDC was the place to be. Sadly, it's now replaced by "Premium Audio."
I got my first set of KEF META speakers (gray enclosure with red diaphragm) for $400. I bought a 10’ AudioQuest Rocket 88 bi-wire speaker cable worth $1,450 for $300. A turntable with a MoonStone MM cartridge was also from Best Buy, and it’s not even listed on our website.
Funny story: Best Buy sells a ridiculous amount of stuff through Tylor that’s not available in the inventory, but not the AMP I needed! I had to buy the original amplifier for $1,000 on Amazon. That’s as much as I paid for an analog turntable. In retrospect, it was a stupid purchase. I can’t remember the last time I turned it on. Even when I used it, I didn’t consider that vinyl records only have four tracks per side, and getting up every four tracks got annoying.
If you know much about audio, names like Martin Logan, Bowers & Wilkins, KEF, McIntosh, and REL should ring a bell. That was our secondary showroom for high-potential customers. The main room was for the right customer, or as I like to call it, my playground. It had two B&W 804 and 806 speakers with black leather tops, connected to a Mark Levinson AMP and then to Marantz Cinema 30. Ugh... (Audiophiles will understand how outrageous that combination is.)
The dream setup, though, was the Pro-Ject Y2 with a MoonStone cartridge turntable, paired with a NAD Master Series M17 lossless DAC, connected to a Mark Levinson 534 two-channel amp with 500W per channel. All speaker cables were AudioQuest Rocket 88, and AudioQuest 2.0M Angle RCA-RCA were used to connect to a 1.4KW McIntosh speaker amp “per side." Just the speakers alone were consuming 2.8KW of power every time you played a song. All that power, precision, and quality went to the one and only KEF Blade Loudspeakers.
If none of this excites you, you’ll probably love the new Best Buy. But if you recognize these names and respect original ingenuity, it’s a shame because they’ve fired most of the designers. No more knowledge-based incentives, no more commissions, and no more passionate people.
Sad but true. I can’t believe our highest educated top executives don’t see the decline of such an iconic brand. All for the sake of claiming diversity with a woman as a CEO. Especially a CEO that comes from baking pizza dough.
The only thing that motivates me anymorr is the hope of seeing Corie Barry fired or going back to "FUCKING" Domino's Pizza. (Kudos to you if you get that joke... someone prove me wrong.)
The end. Share something positive that Corie has ruined for our employees and customers!

2024.06.01 13:25 Old-Butterscotch-814 AITA for telling my dad's wife he lied and that I never agreed to visit them for the summer?

I (18m) moved out of my home state two years ago with my mom. My parents are divorced and my dad is remarried and has kids and a stepkid back in our home state. I don't have a good relationship with him so when my mom got an opportunity to move, I told her to take it and bring me with her. A judge agreed that at 16 I was old enough to say I wanted to go and so we went. My dad was really unhappy. So were the rest of his family.
BG: I was 5 when my parents divorced. Dad cheated. He then moved in with his affair partner and they broke up a few months later. So I had a lot of unsettled shit going on then. A couple of months later my dad meets his second wife and her kid who was 1 at the time. They got engaged and married really, really fast. After he moved her in I told him it was going too fast and I asked him to slow down and wait to get married and stuff. He told me it wasn't my decision, he was the adult, he made the choices, and he would do what he wanted and he didn't care how it made me feel because he wasn't going to stay single for me. I never forgot him saying that. The day he did get married is when he realized he had fucked up. Because I "ran away" back home to mom so I wasn't there for the ceremony and I refused to go to the reception either. He told me the day after the wedding that I should really give this a chance and he would prove that this was the best for everyone. But I never wanted to be with my dad from the day he told me what he did to the day mom and I moved. I wished for him to not have custody over me and I never tried to be a part of his family. The rest of them are innocent and I don't hate them or blame them. I just don't care about knowing them. My dad kept hyping me up to his stepkid and later his other bio kids with his wife. So they thought of me as this really cool older brother and they expected a much closer relationship than I wanted to have with them.
When I left it upset them. I got letters and calls from them. I told dad he needed to get it stopped because I wouldn't stay in touch once I was 18.
A few days before my 18th birthday he called me and told me he wanted me to visit for the summer so his family could see me, that his kids missed me. I told him I would not come, not if he paid for everything, not if he begged.
Last week his wife reached out and asked why I hadn't told them my arrival date yet. I ignored her message but then she started calling my mom and to stop her I called her and she asked why I'd go back on my word to visit this summer and how disappointed her kids would be if I didn't show up after they were told I was coming. I told her dad's a liar and I never agreed to visit for the summer. I made it clear I wasn't going to. She got mad and asked me why not and I said I no longer wish to have any contact with them and I ended the call. I then got a bunch of emails sent by her and then by dad who were pissed about what I said.
AITA?

2024.06.01 13:24 ThrowAway3279823 AITA for kicking my son out of my house after he said bad things about me to his friends?

This is a ThrowAway account because I have friends on Reddit and prefer to keep this private.
I (40M) have a son (18M) who had just been accepted to college. When he told me he had been accepted, I was extremely happy because I didn't have that opportunity in my life. I was born into a family of 8 siblings and we never had many luxuries growing up, so I dropped out of school to work and help at home. Today, I work in the same place where I started my first job, but in a managerial position that pays me very well for someone who doesn't have a diploma.
Back to the title: when my son was accepted to college, I asked him to read the notice and gather all the necessary documents for his college registration. I don't understand much about technology, so I asked one of my employees, who knows how to use a computer better than I do, to help me with my son's registration. During the week, I kept asking him for the documents and he always made up an excuse not to deliver them. In an attempt to help him, I had already gathered all the documents of his that I had printed, but according to him, some documents could only be obtained online and that might take some time.
When the last day for registration arrived, he gave me the missing documents and without wasting time, I went to work to use my computer with a friend to do his registration. However, the website of the college he said he had been accepted to was not accepting the login credentials. I called him many times asking if the credentials were correct because to enter the new student's page, information from the document and the registration number were needed, but he didn't answer my calls. That day, I got home as quickly as I could to find him and try to resolve this as soon as possible.
When I got home, he was on the couch and from his expression, I noticed something wasn't right, and I was right. As soon as I entered the room, he asked me to sit down because he wanted to have a "serious conversation". In this conversation, he revealed that he had not actually been accepted to college but had lied to me out of fear of my reaction if he didn't get in. At that moment, my world fell apart. I had never felt so disappointed as I did at that moment. I had told everyone how smart my son was and that he had been accepted to a good school, was working from Monday to Sunday doing overtime to surprise him with a car that I was going to buy for him as a gift, only to find out he had lied to me.
In the same conversation, I couldn't hold back. I argued with him about how he could lie to me about this, I talked about how much I had worked to provide him with a good education and that he had nothing to do but his chores and study. I got so upset that I ended up crying and saying he was a disappointment, something I regret, but in the heat of the moment, I couldn't control myself. I sent him to his room and sat on the couch not knowing what to think. I spent two hours staring at the walls thinking about where I had failed him. I was never absent, never hit him, and was always understanding, even about him going to college or not, because I hadn't even finished elementary school, so I would understand if he didn't want to go to college. He had no reason to lie to me, but even so, I tried to be understanding and let time pass to apologize when I was calmer.
The next day when I got home from work, I looked for him but he wasn't home. I wanted to have a conversation with him to apologize and talk about other future possibilities for him, but he was out with his friends. Because of this, I decided to use the computer we share to check my email, but when I went to use it, it was already on. What I saw on that screen was something that made me take back everything. My son and his friends were talking badly about me in an extensive conversation that seemed to have been going on for months, where I was called various names, and his friends said they were his "real family". Reading that was torture. It was obvious he had left the computer on for me to see because he never left it on or any of his accounts logged in.
When he got home, I lost it, I yelled at him again, this time worse than the last, and said he had until the end of the year to get a job and move out because I wasn't going to support a lying adult who didn't appreciate anything I do. He started crying and saying I was overreacting, but I didn't care. I stood firm in what I said, and he knows that. Now, his grandparents are calling me trying to get me to change my mind, but I don't think I'm wrong in making the decision I made. I've always tried to be the best father for him, but if all this was for nothing, then I give up, I won't put up with this anymore.
So, am I the asshole?

2024.06.01 13:23 Few-Procedure-8324 Hire Gmail Hacker for Ethical Needs

Hire Gmail Hacker for Ethical Needs is an insightful article that delves into the world of ethical hacking, focusing on the unique perspectives of hackers who specialize in Gmail. You will discover how these professionals can help you recover lost passwords, secure your accounts, and investigate potential cyber threats, all while adhering to legal standards and ethical guidelines. The article highlights the skills and expertise of ethical hackers, shedding light on their crucial role in maintaining digital security. With a friendly and approachable tone, the piece offers a deeper understanding of why hiring an ethical Gmail hacker might be the solution you need.

Hire Gmail Hacker for Ethical Needs

Have you ever wondered if hiring a hacker for Gmail could be done ethically? It might sound a bit outlandish, but in certain situations, it can be both legal and necessary. This article will guide you through the ins and outs of hiring a Gmail hacker ethically, while retaining your values and adhering to legal guidelines.

Understanding the Hacker’s Perspective

Who Are Hackers?

Hackers often get a bad rap. The term "hacker" brings to mind images of people in dark rooms, breaking into systems for nefarious purposes. However, not all hackers are bad. In fact, there are "white hat" hackers who use their skills ethically to help others. These hackers follow the law and adhere to strict ethical guidelines.

Ethical Hacking

Ethical hacking is the practice of penetrating systems and networks to spot vulnerabilities before malicious hackers can exploit them. Ethical hackers are skilled professionals who use their knowledge for good. They are often hired by companies to protect sensitive information, ensure security, and train employees on best practices.

When Might You Need to Hire a Gmail Hacker?

Forgotten Passwords

One of the most common reasons people consider hiring a Gmail hacker is to recover forgotten passwords. Life is busy, and sometimes we forget the little things, like email passwords. In such cases, an ethical hacker can help you regain access to your account.

Security Concerns

Perhaps you suspect your Gmail account has been compromised. In such scenarios, a hacker can help secure your account by identifying any breaches, ensuring that your sensitive information remains safe.

Legal Situations

In some legal situations, gaining access to an email account is crucial. For example, in cases involving fraud or embezzlement, an ethical hacker can help retrieve pertinent information that can serve as evidence.

Important Considerations Before Hiring a Gmail Hacker

Legal Implications

Before you decide to hire a Gmail hacker, it's crucial to understand the legal boundaries. Unauthorized access to email accounts is illegal and can result in severe penalties. Always opt for ethical hackers who follow legal guidelines.

Ethical Boundaries

You must ensure that your actions are ethical. Hire a hacker only if you have legitimate reasons, like recovering your account or ensuring security. Avoid any activities that could harm others or invade their privacy.

Verifying Credentials

Not all hackers are trustworthy. Before hiring, do your due diligence. Check their credentials, reviews, and, if possible, get recommendations. Trustworthy ethical hackers often have certifications like Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP).

How to Find an Ethical Gmail Hacker

Online Platforms

Several online platforms connect clients with ethical hackers. Websites like Upwork, Freelancer, and others have dedicated sections for cybersecurity professionals. These platforms usually have reviews and ratings to help you choose the right person.
Platform Features
Upwork Large community of professionals, reviews and ratings available, detailed profiles
Freelancer Competitive bidding process, wide range of skills, portfolio sections
Guru Strong focus on security professionals, niche market, reviews, and feedback

Hacker Communities

Hacker communities and forums like Reddit, HackerOne, and Bugcrowd can be excellent places to find ethical hackers. These platforms are often frequented by cybersecurity professionals who are passionate about their work.

Referrals

Sometimes, the best way to find a reliable hacker is through referrals. Reach out to friends, colleagues, or professionals in related fields to get recommendations. This ensures that you are hiring someone trustworthy and experienced.

What to Expect from an Ethical Gmail Hacker

Initial Consultation

Expect an initial consultation where the hacker assesses your needs and provides a preliminary plan of action. This step usually includes discussions about your goals, any specific concerns you have, and the time frame for the project.

Proposal and Agreement

After the consultation, the hacker will present a proposal. This document outlines the scope of work, timelines, and costs. It's crucial to have this outlined in an agreement to protect both parties.

Work Process

Most ethical hackers follow a structured work process, which can include the following steps:
  1. Reconnaissance: Gathering information about your Gmail account, such as associated security questions, recovery emails, etc.
  2. Analysis: Identifying potential vulnerabilities and devising a plan to regain access or enhance security.
  3. Execution: Implementing the chosen strategies, whether it's password recovery or securing the account.
  4. Reporting: Providing a detailed report of the steps taken and recommendations for future security.

Follow-Up Support

Good ethical hackers offer follow-up support to ensure that the issue is completely resolved and that you understand any steps you need to take to avoid future problems.

Ethical vs. Unethical Hacking: A Comparison

Understanding the distinction between ethical and unethical hacking is crucial. Below is a table that highlights the key differences.
Criteria Ethical Hacking Unethical Hacking
Purpose To identify vulnerabilities, enhance security, or recover lost data To steal data, cause harm, or gain illegal access
Legality Legal, with consent from the owner Illegal and punishable by law
Approach Transparent, follows a structured process Secretive, often deceptive
Reporting Provides detailed reports and recommendations No reporting, leaves no trace

Tools Ethical Hackers Use

A variety of tools are available to ethical hackers for Gmail hacking and cybersecurity purposes. These tools aid in recon, analysis, and execution.

The cost of hiring an ethical Gmail hacker can vary widely based on several factors, including:

Cost Range

On average, hiring an ethical hacker can cost anywhere from $50 to $200 per hour. Specific projects like account recovery might fall within a fixed price range, typically $100 to $500 depending on complexity and urgency.

Protecting Your Gmail Account

Setting Strong Passwords

One of the simplest yet most effective means of protecting your Gmail account is by using strong passwords. Avoid using easily guessable information like your name or birthdate.

Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication adds another layer of security to your Gmail account. Even if someone gets your password, they’ll also need your phone or another device to log in.

Regular Updates and Monitoring

Be vigilant about updating your passwords regularly and monitoring your account activity. Google provides a feature that notifies you of any suspicious activity, which can be very useful.

Ethical Hacking Certifications

Having an understanding of the certifications ethical hackers may hold can help you verify their credentials. Here are some common ones:
Certification Name Description

Regulatory Compliance

In industries like finance and healthcare, regulatory compliance is crucial. Ethical hackers help these companies meet legal standards by ensuring that their systems are secure and up to date.

Training and Awareness

Ethical hackers can also provide invaluable training to employees, helping them understand the latest security threats and best practices for minimizing risks.

Potential Challenges and How to Overcome Them

Finding Trustworthy Professionals

Finding a trustworthy ethical hacker can be challenging due to the abundance of scammers in the market. Always verify credentials and ask for references to ensure that you are working with a reliable professional.

Balancing Costs

Hiring an ethical hacker can be expensive. To balance costs, define your needs clearly and set a budget beforehand. Sometimes, an initial consultation can give you a good idea of what to expect in terms of pricing.

Legal Framework and Ethical Guidelines

Legal Considerations

Understand that ethical hacking must always comply with legal frameworks. Unauthorized access is illegal. Make sure you have the explicit consent of the email account owner.

Ethical Guidelines

Ethical hackers follow a strict code of conduct:

Final Thoughts

Ethical hacking can provide legitimate support for various needs, including Gmail account recovery and improving security measures. By hiring a professional ethical hacker, you can ensure that your Gmail account is both secure and accessible, without crossing any legal or ethical boundaries.
Navigating the world of ethical hacking might seem daunting, but with the right guidance and considerations, you can achieve your goals responsibly and effectively. Remember, the key is to always act ethically and legally while ensuring that your actions respect the privacy and rights of others.
So, the next time you find yourself in need of a Gmail hacker for ethical purposes, you’ll know exactly what to do and what to look for. Good luck, and stay secure!
