2024.05.14 17:25 ItsAMoose122 30 [M4F] Niagara region, ON, Canada - Single Father Looking for a Best Friend First!

Hey there!
like the title says I'm looking for my best friend, someone I can vibe with and talk to about anything never feeling judged or uncomfortable about it. someone I can watch movies with, joke around with go get some amazing food with and just genuinely enjoy our time together!
Honestly I would love for it to blossom into something romantic at some point however I want there to be a strong connection and friendship first and foremost.
You're probably wondering a bit about me so here's some quick info - I am a father to a beautiful 4 year old girl, I like to play PC games (wow, league, apex, POE to name a few), I love to cook and miss having someone to cook for, I love all animals and recently really got into fish keeping. as for movies I usually tend to watch comedies or thrillers as my main go-tos but happy to watch anything with the right person. as you can probably tell I'm a bit of a nerd which is very true so almost anything nerdy I'll probably like haha.
Physically I'm 6ft tall, and on the chubbier side of a dad body and while I do embrace the dad bod, as I am a dad, I am working on that by going to the gym and trying to live a healthier lifestyle as I want to stay active to keep up with my kiddo.
If this has peaked your interests and you'd like to talk more, please feel free to shoot me a message on here and I'll get back to you as fast as I can. Maybe start by letting me know the last thing that made you smile, and why? :)

2024.05.14 17:24 That-Possibility-427 Templars

The Templar soldier feels pretty useless to me, at least from an offensive stand point. Their auto pistol is about as accurate as a squirt gun and probably does less damage. Their psionic abilities aren't anything to write home about. Depending on how you're handling your tech tree you'll create psionic soldiers that have much better abilities (IMO) without having to lvl them up on the field of battle.
Here's the thing. I didn't come here to gripe about the Templars per se. 👆 That's my take, but I see a lot of posts that recommend utilizing them so I'm left to assume that perhaps it's not the Templar so much as they say I'm utilizing them. And.....TBH I just can't imagine that the developers of the game would have given us some pretty good (especially early game) soldiers with the Reapers and Skirmishers and basically added in the Templars as an after thought, which (again IMO) is kind of how they feel. So I'm just looking for the opinions of other Commanders on how best to utilize them and what you all feel their "shelf life" is. Do you feel as though they become pretty useless at some point, or like they carry value for the duration.
A few "tid hits" about how I'm playing.
Playing on console.....🖕PC players 😂....kidding guys. Actually I'm a tad jealous because I can't do the cool mods on console nor can I run Ironman because eventually the game crashes. So.....
Difficulty - It depends tbh. My business picks up over the summer months so if I'm starting a playthrough from March - November it's veteran or commander. December - February - Legend all the way.
Play style - I try to spread my "pairs" out. I keep them about 4 to 5 tiles apart and move kind of pincer style depending on the mission, terrain and of course the mission timer.
Snipers - If I run them, and it's pretty mission specific, I try to get to high ground close to the middle of the map and hold. This DOES change a bit once I have that Darklance in hand. THAT little beauty is a game changer! The biggest exception, especially early/mid game are the Reapers. I still look for high ground with them but it's not as vital because the "firing parameters" for using their rifles aren't hindered by the whole "first action" thing. So they're more mobile IMO and let's face it......banish is pretty damn devastating from mid to close range.
Rangers - I LOVE these sneaky little bastards! I'll pair them up if I don't have a sniper in the mix and let them be my recon team. **Note** I basically run my Skirmishers similar to my Rangers. Not gonna lie......Mox...... that's my MF-ing boy!!!
Grenadiers - I run them as my inside flankers.
Specialist - They typically carry the outside of my right and left flanks.
Psionic soldiers - Once I have them I will pair them with Rangers.
Advanced ammo:
Talon rounds - Snipers and sometimes Rangers
AP - Rangers - Reapers and sometimes Snipers
Blue Screen - Grenadiers, Psionic and Specialist
Poison rounds - Varies, typically Rangers/Skirmishers
Fire rounds - Honestly, I don't use them often because I feel like they have a similar effect as poison WITHOUT the side effect of setting the world on fire if your missed shot hits the building.
Tracer - Early game use only. Tech tree and aim boost via ring missions make them obsolete pretty quickly IMO.
Sorry for the length. Just trying to answer questions ahead of time. And thanks in advance Commanders!! I love the posts! Keep them coming!

2024.05.14 17:24 poppunk_tracey Hot take: touring is pointless unless you're already in demand

Before the internet it made sense for unknown/underground musicians to tour around because audiences were hungry for entertainment and more willing go out to some random dive bar on a Wednesday to see a live performance from somebody they'd never heard of before.
But as many in the industry can attest, the audience for live music has been dwindling for decades. People are just less and less willing to spend money and time on something that they're not already interested in.
The internet also facilitates a means for artists to build a following without actually performing at all. So these days it makes for artitsts to try to build hype for themselves online, try build demand for their product first, and THEN go on tour.
I used to tour all around western Canada a lot with my Indie rock bands and they were fun adventures... But eventually one Monday night in some town we were playing I remember looking out across the mostly empty bar and thinking "what's the point of this? Who are we doing this for? Is this just for ourselves?"
It almost felt like we were playing pretend. There wasn't any real reason for us to be playing a random bar on a Monday night but we wanted to feel like rock stars on tour because that's what rock stars do.
Now I still "tour" but it's usually just weekend warriors stints to towns nearby. I figure if my band's music is online. If it's good enough then people will start asking us to come to them. At that point we might consider playing another Wednesday night in Golden BC again.

2024.05.14 17:24 New-Neighborhood6390 Should I Book?

My fiancé and I are going to a cruise leaving from the Miami port in September after our wedding for a mini-moon. We want to stay in Miami for a couple nights before we board our cruise and want to use my credit card miles to cover first class tickets which right now are running just over $1400 round trip, DTW -> MIA. Would it be best to book now or wait to see if prices drop? Or does delta do dynamic pricing?

2024.05.14 17:23 Weekly-Animal178 so i got mixed responses re: rats but if you live in district 35 (fort greene, clinton hill, prospect heights, some crown heights) here's an email you can send to our council person

Hi neighbors! If you live in district 35 (Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, and parts of Crown Heights) and have also noticed more rats than usual this spring, I’ve written an email template you can sent to our council member (email to both [District35@council.nyc.gov](mailto:District35@council.nyc.gov) and [dbrown@council.nyc.gov](mailto:dbrown@council.nyc.gov)).
Even if you have not seen many yourself, it would still be great to send this email to encourage progress on containerization and rat contraceptives to prevent the issue getting worse.
——
Dear Council Member Hudson,
My name is [YOUR NAME] and I'm a constituent of District 35, living on [CROSS STREETS]. I'm writing because I have noticed an uptick of rats in the neighborhood in recent months. I know that they become more visible in the spring, but I am concerned about how many I’ve seen already this year.
I've seen them on [DESCRIBE ENCOUNTER, INCLUDING LOCATION AND TIME OF DAY].
I have reported these incidents to 311, but I also wanted to know whether you have any plans for tackling cleanliness and rats in our district, as this seems like it could be the start of a larger issue. I know that other districts have made progress with containerization and trash pickup, and are pushing legislation about rat contraceptives. Has there been any effort to include District 35 in any of these programs?
I look forward to hearing from you soon and learning more about the plans you have for the district.
Best,
[YOUR NAME]

2024.05.14 17:23 IAmLordMeatwad A reflection on ProZD's first LP channel: Press Buttons n' Talk

I watch ProZD Plays now and while it's different--like there's less focus on coming up with their own versions of the characters and more on genuine conversation--I like that channel more ultimately. I think SungWon is an amazing host. I love his focus on the channel being with his friends and not like, big names.
But I want to talk about PBnT because it makes me sad, and I'd like to express myself as a trans fan.
I can't go back to PBnT anymore. Knowing that Alex is extremely transphobic and positiviely unhinged--I know it's over and been over for a while--it was a huge bummer, and I can't go back to the material because of that. But man, there was some great stuff in there.
Paper Mario and Kingdom Hearts were my favorite Let's Plays. Aside from AA3, I've seen every video on the channel. I was a longtime Patron and a member of the Discord server. (Really quiet there now, but there are some cool people.) I used to watch those uploads the minute they came out. You get the picture.
I loved the videos. They made me happy. But I am glad that SungWon moved on and made something even better. :)

Is there a way to use the Jagex Launcher with a VPN? Because of my location I use a vpn 24/7 while online aswell as a program that helps with latency when im gaming on NA or EU servers, I was considering moving over to the Jagex Launcher and it immediately gave me a "You have been blocked" message.

2024.05.14 17:23 Hour-Region-12 How to make online friends?

I used to have lots of online friends during 2020 since everyone was bored and had lots of time to be on the internet. Online friendships were mostly formed bc we had the same interests (kpop, anime, etc) However, when things went back to "normal", i lost contact with all of them. I also lost interest from the stuffs that i used to like back then.
Lately, I've been really interested in a particular media and wanted to meet other people whom i can relate to and talk about stuffs I like (again). I tried the classic way of finding online friends in fandoms but it seems like it's much harder now than before... Any advice on how to start online friendships in 2024?

2024.05.14 17:22 yellowstar93 How to make vegetables edible?

I've had a limited diet my whole life. Carbs, bread, pasta and pizza and cheese and dairy have been the majority of what I eat since I was little. I've never really been able to eat vegetables unless I force them down, they just taste disgusting. I'm also grossed out by most meats, the only ones I ate growing up were hot dogs and salami. I've never touched seafood and I'm not interested in any. Adding chicken to my diet in my late 20s was a HUGE win for me and opened up more options in restaurants etc. I used to be afraid of not finding anything to eat whenever going out. I like some fruits when they're available, like berries and apples. Anything in the melon family tastes weird and unappetizing to me. My parents say I used to eat more variety but started restricting more the older I got. Don't know what's up with that.
I need to make changes though. My doctor says I've crossed into obese BMI territory and I know it's terrible for me. I hate the way I look. My mother also had a heart attack due to arterial blockage earlier last year and I don't want the same thing to happen to me. But the vast majority of safe foods are high calorie high fat carby stuff. I know I need to eat vegetables but they're so disgusting and unappetizing. And I'm also short at 5'0 so my calories really need to be restricted in order to get to and stay at a healthier weight which fills me with despair. I don't want to be starving myself and forced to eat only vegetables the rest of my life and giving up the foods I actually do like in order to be a healthy weight.
Ranting over, now to the point. Does anyone have tips for making vegetables edible? I just hate that bitter sensation, I'm probably a supertaster and sensitive to bitter foods. Never liked coffee either. I need ways to hide the vegetable flavor so that I can eat them. I don't even know what to start with, maybe broccoli since it's so nutritious? What can I do to them that's still healthy but hides the flavor with something more tolerable? One thing that has worked for me lately is to mix cooked & shredded cauliflower into my rice when I make my homemade chicken tikka masala. The masala sauce is so flavorful it hides the taste of the cauliflower somewhat. Cauli is a more mild tasting vegetable I think so I don't know if this will work for other things. I'm looking for more ideas like that. I also have a dietician appointment in a couple of weeks to make a plan and get some more ideas. Hopefully they can help me. If you read this far thank you and best wishes to you all as well!

2024.05.14 17:22 SmoothRunnings PC printers that work in warehouse situations?

We have a make shift office I our warehouse that has a 1 1/2 year old HP LaserJet 608n (or dn) that started acting up after its first year because the people using it got a piece of paper jammed in the fuser and aggressively removed it causing damage so I we had pay the piper (HP) to get a replacement kit. Now after all the dirt from the warehouse being sucked in the rollers are going on it again causing the paper to stick together so that 1 page ends up being 20 pages.
I wonder going forward if there laser printers that work best in this kind of environment over others; clearly HP doesn't work best in these environments. :(
Thanks,

2024.05.14 17:22 Contactunderground The Concept of “Rare Earth” is a materialist scientific challenge to the ET hypothesis for flying saucers. This beautifully produced BBC documentary linked below outlines the amazingly unique conditions here on Earth that allowed intelligent life to evolve from a materialist point of view.

I recommend that the Contact and Disclosure Communities discuss this BBC Documentary “Rare Earth.”
J. Burkes MD 2022

Physicalism is the ideological perspective of materialist science. It is the dominant philosophy of academia and as such determines much of the public discourse on the possibilities of intelligent life, other than human, manifesting on our planet. Physicalism declares that energy and matter are the wellsprings of creation and that thought, i.e., consciousness, “emerges” out of matter. This scientific ideological position historically has been opposed by all religions. Religious faith asserts that thought (the mind of God) is primary and responsible for the material universe.
Flying saucers are a challenge to the Western materialist science. What are now called Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs) clearly violate the laws of physics as determined by professional science. In the growing societal debate on UAPs, I believe it is important for contact experiencers and all who desire full disclosure on UFOs, be aware of the underpinnings of academia’s objections to flying saucers. For these reasons, I recommend that we discuss the “Rare Earth” hypothesis as it has been used to deny the possibility that flying saucers might be controlled by extraterrestrial intelligences.

This beautifully produced BBC documentary linked below outlines the amazingly unique conditions here on Earth that allowed intelligent life to evolve from a materialist point of view. This special set of conditions that facilitated life on our planet makes it appear less likely to scientists that nearby stars could have provided similar conditions for advanced intelligent beings to evolve. The Rare Earth hypothesis is based on the following observations:

Our galaxy is teeming with planets. Red dwarf stars are the most numerous ones. These stars, however, put out much less heat than our larger Sun (yellow dwarf star). In order to be in the so-called Goldilocks Zone (where water is a liquid), planets of red dwarf star systems would have to be much closer to their stars. At such proximity, astronomers tell us that the common solar flares associated with red dwarfs would expose planets in the habitable zone to damaging radiation. In addition, red dwarfs don't create the massive magnetic fields required to shield planets from destructive cosmic gamma rays.

Then there is the unique origin of Earth that is now understood to have occurred when two smaller planets collided to form our world early in the history of the solar system. This extra mass allowed our planet to have a larger and longer lasting rotating molten iron core that creates a protective magnetic shield against cosmic and solar radiation. Mars is thought to have once had a molten core, but it presumably burned out long ago losing its life protecting magnetic shield. Without the extra mass that Earth has and a more enduring molten core, Mars lost its atmosphere long ago and therefore became inhospitable for life. The collision of two smaller planets in the “Goldilocks Zone, protecting Earth from life destroying radiation is viewed as a rare event and one not likely to have occurred in many close star systems.

Most importantly, the early collision that produced Earth also created our moon which is large enough to stabilize the Earth’s rotation at a set inclination. This allows stable seasons. With climatic stability large animals were able to evolve on land with adequate food resources. These large animals led to humans being able to evolve with the massive brain required for higher intelligence.

Finally, the existence of a giant world, Jupiter, far from the Sun provided an effective barrier to incoming comets. The powerful gravity of Jupiter attracts comets and draws them away from our planet. This has prevented a continuous bombardment of Earth’s surface by comets coming from the outer regions of the solar system. In many star systems studied by astronomers, gas giants exist very close to their stars. Thus, they cannot shield planets like ours that orbit further out from their stars.

Despite the proposition that a unique set of conditions on Earth makes the evolution of life less likely from the materialist perspective, The ET hypothesis for UFOs could still be valid if advanced technology existed to bend spacetime (warp drive a la “Star Trek.”) With faster than light speed other “Rare Earths” might evolve to have intelligent life that could create the necessary technological advancements to traverse vast distances and arrive here.

In addition, UFOs might not be travelling through interstellar space to get to Earth but could conceivably arrive via traversing dimensions from parallel universes. Thus, the ET hypothesis might not be valid, but an “interdimensional” one would allow flying saucers and their crews to show up in our skies and interact with us.
Most importantly, if consciousness is primary, then we can reasonably speculate that UFO intelligences might have access to non-material realms and that they may enter our material universe as “visitors.” If their origin is not from our material plane of existence, then many of their capabilities could become understandable. I refer here to flying saucers being able to dematerialize, often described as “winking out.” Furthermore, the seemingly “miraculous” cures described by UFO contact experiencers might be understood as part and parcel of flying saucer intelligences’ ability to manipulate spacetime via consciousness based non-material technologies.
In conclusion, both the “Rare Earth” thesis and this documentary of the same name are extremely limited by dealing with these issues only from a materialist/physicalist perspective. For physicalists, the natural world is essentially “objective” where randomness is a main force in determining events that could lead to the development of intelligent life. If consciousness is primary, as a growing number of contact experiencers and even some scientists are beginning to acknowledge, then the universe is not random. Synchronicities associated with contact are being driven by a higher order of intelligence, and the universe is conscious, meaning alive and awake. Thus, intelligent life throughout the Cosmos is being created by non-material forces that choose life. In the process, those spiritual forces are fulfilling a plan that compels us to realize that we truly are "one with the one that is all."

Addendum: A critic of this posting have commented that it serves no purpose to discuss the “Rare Earth” theory because it is formulated to “steer you away from the truth.” Another wrote “why even go there, you know better!” My reply is that contact/disclosure activists have a responsibility to challenge the theories of materialist/physicalist scientists and engage in public discussions whenever possible. As researcher Grant Cameron has pointed out, the US Executive Branch has carried out a program of gradual acclimatization on the flying saucer subject for decades. This has existed alongside a de facto policy of ridicule and denial.

With Senator Schumer’s proposed amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, with many observers believe most certainly has the Whitehouse’s approval, a confirmation/disclosure plan might be slowly going into second gear. As more information confirms the reality and importance of what are now called UAP, contact experiencers and their supporters will be allowed to share the stories of our encounters with the public This will include those who have been influenced by materialist scientists who will persist in promoting the rare Earth theory.

2024.05.14 17:22 UKVisaQ Does No CFW Mean Exploiting Every Time Run?

I saw this in the FAQ
It is extremely unlikely that CFW will make an appearance on PS4 in the same way it existed on PS3. As in the past with other devices, the keys which allowed creation of CFW were either leaked (Nintendo) or improperly generated (PS3/PSP).
Does this mean the exploit needs to be used any time the PS3 starts up to run homebrew/etc? Or is there some other limitation to it not having CFW but being exploitable?

2024.05.14 17:22 jac5423 Class registrations before NSC

I’m going through the online orientation and I remember seeing pre registration and registration for classes. I’ve seen some people say registration is open from April 15th. Do I just use the schedule builder to get ready for the second day of NSC? Im somewhat unsure on how much the NSC second day would help me in registering for classes. What should I have done for registration before conference? Not too sure which core classes and such I have to take (I will check the catalogue and such)

2024.05.14 17:22 Riuzs Was that gender euphoria?

Hi, wanted to do another post, specially from a personal experience, to end up with a question for all of you beautiful and handsome people.
I've always been emotionally numb, it's really hard for me to express my feelings, and even more to show them in public. Since I've been experimenting with things that I wouldn't let myself do, and told my girlfriend I might be trans(she has been super supportive, I'm transfem btw), I've been sentimental about things, and so far I've liked it. So recently I came up with my new name, which I told her, and yesterday In the night she told me good night using that chosen name. And my heart rate skyrocketed so fast, and just couldn't help myself but smile. That's something that had not happend before in that magnitude, and so I this morning the thought has been in my head. Was that gender euphoria?
So to all of you. How's gender euphoria for you? Share all your beautiful experiences here :D

2024.05.14 17:21 KaleidoArachnid Wait, regarding SRW Z l am confused by the title

I say this because there was SRW Z on the PS2, and there was also a PS3 entry with that title, so it gets confusing regarding the Z series, but it’s hard to explain why though.
See, recently I had just purchased a PS3 game called SRW Z, but I don’t know if I am saying the title right as basically I don’t want to get it wrong, so again just confused.
But since this is my first time playing the game, I am excited to play it as while it’s in Japanese only, I can use a guide to get around it, so I hope I have a good time with the game itself.

2024.05.14 17:21 MangiBoi Has anyone tried to use lazy.nvim on Nixvim?

Hello, I'm trying to optimize my nixvim setup but am having some problems setting up.
So I already have my plugins enabled/downloaded the "normal" nixvim way, so I don't need the lazy plugin to re-download them, I just need the configuration options like event, ft, etc. I've looked at the repoif I'm reading it correctly (English isn't my first language) it seems like it is possible to do exactly that.
So looking at the lazy.nix file it looks like I can set the plugin like so:
programs.nixvim.plugins.lazy = { enable = true; plugins = [ { name = "gitsigns" dev = true; event = ["BufReadPre", "BufReadNew"\]; } ... ]; };
However, doing home-manager switch --flake . gave me this error:
error: The option `programs.nixvim.plugins.lazy.plugins."[definition 1-entry 1]".pkg' is used but not defined.
I tried to look for answers, but I couldn't find issues regarging the lazy.nvim plugin nor do I see other's nixvim configuration with lazy.nvim. Is there something I'm doing wrong here?
On a side note, The reason I started thinking about using lazy.nvim in the first place is because it felt like my neovim was getting sort of slow, and by slow I mean around 340 ms of load time. I'm new to neovim but I've heard it has really fast load time if configured correctly. So to me 300+ms feels like a lot but idk if it is actually considered slow. If not I guess I can live without lazy but if not I think it's definitely worth trying to figure this out.

2024.05.14 17:21 Drmomo4 Board Games/Playground games that COULD be a person’s name

My best friend and I went down a silly, useless tangent yesterday trying to figure out what types of names of board games or playground games could be people names (pretend anything I’m mentioning doesn’t have a trademark issue either lol).
Here are some that we thought sounded decent/believable.
Taking the last name “Stone” because it gives the first name more context: Monopoly Stone Chess Stone Hopscotch Stone Battleship Stone Othello Stone Checkers Stone
Maybe less likely but I can imagine it: Jenga Stone Hangman Stone Scattergories Stone Pictionary Stone
What else can you think of?
